I'm Kiana and I leveled up my business with Shopify. Once I figured out that Shopify was a thing, I never turned back. I can create a site with my eyes closed. Shopify thinks ahead of us, you know, and it thinks about the customer more than anything. Every day I'm thinking about some other new business, but Shopify is doing it to me because it's so easy to use. It's like I can't stop. I'm addicted.

Podcast Host/Narrator
is panicking over his July 4 event in Washington, D.C. trump regime officials are scrambling. They want to cancel the event altogether. They are terrified that no one wants to show up to Donald Trump's speech on July 4, which is set to take place late at night. And then the fireworks are set to take place at 11pm Donald Trump is screaming at his regime officials, blaming them for the fact that nobody showed up to the so called Great American State Fair, which isn't great and it's not even a state fair. Trump blames his staff for the fact that nobody showed up to the speech he gave at the National Mall last week. He's also livid that his staff keeps on posting aerial footage and images of the crowd size at the fair and at the National Mall showing how small the crowds were. While Donald Trump is claiming 150,000 people are at the state fair every day. That's not true. Or when he says 40,000 people showed up at the speech I gave at the National Mall last week. That's not true. Trump regime officials are leaking to the press that this event on July 4th is going to be an absolute disaster. It's expected to be 107 degrees. There may be major thunderstorms as well. And again, Trump regime officials want this canceled. Let me show you what they are leaking to the press right now. Here is Kaitlan Collins talking about how livid Donald Trump is of These aerial images. Let me play this for you, Karen.
CNN Reporter
I mean, the president and his allies have taken over the event and the planning of them. When it comes to crowd expectation, though, we were told that the aerial image of the crowds from his rally last week enraged him so much that officials ended up deleting them.
Podcast Host/Narrator
Then you have Kaitlan Collins talking about the weather forecast on July 4th. And then Adam Kinzinger jumps in and talks about how Donald Trump only has himself to blame for just how bad this has all been. Play this clip.
CNN Reporter
I mean, part of this is just the heat period. I mean, regardless of what's going on, the weather team here at CNN says that the forecast, 102 degrees on Saturday, is expected to be the hottest July 4 ever recorded. I mean, there's a list of what people can't even bring because of the tightness, security measures, reusable water bottles, sunscreen, bug spray, camping chairs, coolers, umbrellas. I mean, if you're a family and you're going out to watch fireworks that aren't expected to start until after the President has spoken, it might make it tough to hang out for hours on end. Adam?
Adam Kinzinger
Yeah, and I think, you know, look, maybe God's sending a message. I don't know. I can't speak for God. But, but, yeah, I mean, look, I think that's clear. And again, nobody would care. Like, no, I don't remember any time in the past people talking about the turnout for the July 4th fireworks on the Capitol, except that Donald Trump himself has made this a referendum on him. It's always about crowd size. He said, you know, after all the people canceled, that this will be a celebration. I think he recently even said that your greatest, the greatest president, your favorite president, is going to speak at this. So he himself inserts himself into this. And so turnout, even if it's weather related, I mean, at that point, he, he basically has taken ownership of the turnout. But again, just the sad thing here is we're in the 250th anniversary of this country and it's been driven by division. And I'm sure each side will blame the other side. But clearly, Donald Trump has pulled away from this idea of America to 50 and Freedom 250 is his organization. It's all about him. And he has a 30% approval rating. So that's what's going to happen.
Podcast Host/Narrator
You know, folks, this could have just been a great celebration of America's 250th birthday. This should have been a nonpartisan thing run through the Smithsonian. This should not have been something that was divisive. But Donald Trump turned this all about himself and that's the main reason it's become this complete and utter failure, this complete and utter grift. And it's just so odd. I mean, I'll show you. Yesterday, as Matt Ryan, who was there writes, after many called it a temu Arch, the Freedom 250 team added new columns to Trump's arch at the Great American State Fair. Here, play this clip. I'll show you the main stage yesterday at the so called Great American State Fair. It was a podcast called the Practically Political which presented to a virtually non existent crowd at the Great American State Fair. Here, play this clip is truly under

siege from an enemy who hates everything that we represent.

How does that experience color like you
CNN Correspondent
would see America democracy going forward?
Scott McFarlane
I really think that, I mean it's
Podcast Host/Narrator
quite literally the worst event ever. I mean, here you have disappointed Great American State Fair attendees yesterday. Here's what they had to say.
Interviewer
What do you think of all of this?
State Fair Attendee
Not much.
Interviewer
Not much.
State Fair Attendee
And I've been to state fair fairs all throughout the United States. This is terrible.
Interviewer
And how so?
State Fair Attendee
It's a program length advertisement for the President.
CNN Reporter
It's interesting. It's very interesting. I've never seen anything like this before, for sure, in my 27 years of living in Virginia and near the D.C. area.
Interviewer
And does anything jump out at you?
CNN Reporter
No, nothing.
State Fair Attendee
There's no cows, there's no sheep, there's no goats. Not a state fair without animals.
Interviewer
There's a butter cow, I'm told, at least in the Iowa booth.
State Fair Attendee
Maybe it'll. It'll melt by tomorrow.
Shopify/Podcast Host
I'm totally underwhelmed. It's part political. That arch over there is I think promoting one of Trump's vanity projects. I compare this to the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival that they do every year, which is wonderful, really talks about different cultures and countries. This is so bland. But I had to come down and see it.
Interviewer
The multiple stages at the event were largely empty.
Podcast Host/Narrator
CNN was at the Great American State Fair. Again, not great, not a state fair. They describe how the Trump regime has been very troubled by the quote, anemic showing of people here. Not that many people. And they show what it looked like. Here, play this clip.
CNN Correspondent
Conditioning if you can. You can't expose yourself to this very long. And they're pointing in some ways like to the visitors here at the Great American State Fair events here because a lot of these people are out in the sun and it's only going to get hotter in Fact, some of the exhibits today, they've had intermittent power problems. They lost their air conditioning today so much that the workers there simply left their stations and said, fend for yourself, tourists, as best you can. Different message from the administration, though. They've been very troubled by the anemic showing of people here. Not that many people. They've been troubled by the embarrassment of what's happened with the reflecting pool down the way. And they really want to have a lot more people out, especially for the fourth. But a big challenge there, too. Security is going to be at the level of an inaugural event, which means more roads closed, more blockages for pedestrians, more waits. And by the way, Jake, the fireworks are not expected to go until maybe 11, 11 o' clock at night. That's more time waiting in the heat.
Podcast Host/Narrator
Then the Midas Touch Network's own Scott McFarlane was there yesterday and he described how D.C. is hotter than an air fryer and how worried he is for the health implications of the fact that the Trump regime is doing this on July 4th with 107 degree weather. Here, play this clip right here.
Scott McFarlane
Welcome to the air fryer that is the nation's capital right now. Trying to find the shade wherever I can. Let me tell you what's going to happen Friday and Saturday. Temperature above 100 degrees. They're forecasting 103 degrees here. That's the same window for America's 250th birthday. And that is the same window for Trump's rally in celebration of America's 250th birthday day. They're gonna have to do something. I know his rally may be later in the day or after dark in spots with this celebration, but people are going to drop like flies in this heat, in this oppressive heat if they have to be out here all day. There are limitations on the amount of water bottles people can bring in, which is something they may want to revisit. There's not a lot of shade to be had. I found one of the few spots in which it exists around here. And the fireworks don't go off till after 11pm it's not a great explanation for that that's been issued, but that's a choice. It keeps people out here on the mall longer. Who knows what the crowd size is going to be? Trump rallies tend to turn out people, but the Great American State Fair down the road, it's like tumbleweed is rolling through the National Mall. There's just nobody here. Weather hasn't been great, but it's a politicized event. Trump hijacked the American 250th celebration that was approved and began plan for which Planning began in 2016. And the politicization of this event, of this national celebration has turned people off and has convinced people not to come. It is a tumbleweed now with the heat this weekend. We'll see what happens next.
Podcast Host/Narrator
And so yesterday in North Dakota, Donald Trump was bragging about how he was looking forward to giving a speech in 107 degree weather. And it's gonna show how tough he is that he can give a speech in 107 degree weather. As one account says, wow, Mr. President, I bet you'll be so strong you could go out during the hottest part of the day and stand in direct sunlight in a wool suit with no water while you give that long speec would show everybody. Donald, here play this clip.
Interviewer
On July 4th, it's going to be approximately 107 degrees out and I'm going to go and I'm going to make a really long speech just to show that I can do anything. It's going to be 107.
Podcast Host/Narrator
And doesn't that stand in stark contrast to Prime Minister Carney during Canada Day? You saw the speech that he gave where he did a hydration break and wanted to make sure that everybody in the crowd was doing okay. Here, play this clip.
Shopify/Podcast Host
Speaking of which, before I introduce Jeremy, finally, public service announcement. It is time for a hydration break. It's hot. If you're watching at home, it is hot here.
Podcast Host/Narrator
I also want to give a special shout out to Gene park and Amanda Moore and also Anarchy Princess. They've been capturing great images. What's been unfolding at the so called Great American State Fair, which is like the biggest disaster ever. You could take a look at this photo right here of Amanda and Gene capturing these bizarre moments, this very odd time in American history. Also, Amanda Moore captured this image right here as workers appear to be laying some kind of netting across the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool this evening, presumably in preparation for the fireworks on July 4th. Then I'll share this with you as well. Yesterday, Trump ranting and raving like a lunatic about vandals throwing algae into the reflecting pool. That's why he's just turned this thing so weird. Nobody wants to be affiliated with it. Let's play this clip.
Interviewer
Beautiful. We got rid of the algae which they put in. They put in algae? Who the hell put in algae? They had a couple of people with signs, protect the algae. Can you believe this world has gone crazy? But today I'M proud.

In this episode, the Meiselas brothers (Ben, Brett, and Jordy) dive into escalating concerns surrounding Donald Trump's upcoming July 4 speech in Washington, D.C. They discuss the logistical, political, and public relations issues plaguing the event, including poor turnout at preceding festivities, sweltering weather forecasts, high-security protocols, and the general sense of division and awkwardness Trump has brought to what should have been a unifying celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The tone is informed by the brothers’ characteristic blend of sharp political analysis, humor, and a deep concern for democracy.
The episode paints a vivid picture of disorganization, poor planning, and ego-driven chaos surrounding Trump’s July 4 celebration. What should have been a unifying national anniversary is now overshadowed by concerns over safety, exclusion, political division, and low public enthusiasm. The Meiselas brothers critique Trump’s penchant for turning public events into personal loyalty displays, at the expense of both tradition and practicality, all set against the backdrop of extreme weather and an underwhelming crowd presence.
