Donald Trump just held a disastrous press conference with five African leaders at the White House. Donald Trump turned to the president of Liberia and said, very impressive that you speak English. Liberia's official language is English. Here, play this clip.
Donald Trump
Well, thank you. And such good English. Such beautiful. Where did you, where did you learn to speak so beautifully? Where were you educated? Where? In Liberia? Yes, sir. Well, that's very interesting. It's beautiful language. I have people at this table can't speak nearly as well.
Host
Then Donald Trump is asked if he's learned how it was that weapon shipments stopped to Ukraine. And Donald Trump says, yeah, I still don't know how that happened. And then the reporter says, don't you think that's something you should know? And Donald Trump's like, I know everything you just said. You didn't know, though. Here, play this clip.
Donald Trump
Sir. Yeah, please.
Reporter
Sir, yesterday you, you said that you were not sure who ordered the munitions halted to Ukraine. Have you since been able to figure that out?
Donald Trump
Well, I haven't thought about it because we're looking at Ukraine right now and munitions. But I have. No, I have not gone into it.
Reporter
What does it say that such a big decision could be made inside your government without you knowing?
Donald Trump
I would know. If a decision was made. I will know. I'll be the first to know. In fact, most likely, I'd give the order, but I haven't done that yet. Yeah, please.
Host
Then Donald Trump is asked how he calculates tariffs. Watch what he says. Here, play this clip.
African Leader
Sir, can you explain how you calculated your latest round of tariffs? Was there a formula that was used? And do you expect any of these countries to face tariffs as well?
Donald Trump
The formula was a formula based on common sense, based on deficits, based on how we've been treated over the years and based on raw numbers. And we're going to have a couple of more coming out today. Brazil, as an example, has been not good to us, not good at all. We're going to be releasing a Brazil number, I think, later on this afternoon or tomorrow morning. But they're based on very, very substantial facts and also past history. You look at the past history we've been. We never had anybody in the White House that understood the numbers or were into it like I have. You know, we've taken in hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs. Hundreds of billions, and we haven't even.
Host
Yep, it's even dumber than you thought. He goes, I do it based on common sense and deficits. Then Donald Trump says that gasoline prices are down to $1, 99 cents in many states, which is false. Here, play this clip.
Donald Trump
Things are more cost. Know they're much less costly. Yesterday, $1.99 a gallon is two states, three states. We're selling gasoline at $1.99. You haven't seen that for a long time. And I brought costs way down. Just about every cost. I can't think of a cost that went up, but just about every cost. So what they do is they lie. I mean, they take ads. You'd almost think that the, the advertising station would stop it because they know it's wrong. It's such a, it's such a lie. All you can do is say it's a lie and explain it. I guess I have the ability to explain it at conferences like this. So I like to.
Host
Donald Trump is asked about the Chinese buying farms near military installations in the United States. Donald Trump seems unfazed, and he goes, I like Xi Jinping. We love Xi Jinping in America. Here, play this clip.
Reporter
Also announced this week that they are going to start limiting Chinese ownership of American farmland. Why do you think that the Chinese have been buying up all this farmland in our country so close to military installations?
Donald Trump
Well, I don't want to get into that. I have a very good relationship with President Xi. We're going to see and I'm going to, you know, they're going to be making a recommendation to me. But we have a very good relationship. As you know, we. They're paying a lot of tariffs to the United States now. And so I'm not going to get into that right now.
Host
Then Donald Trump says that he loves that churches can now endorse political candidates and still keep their tax exemptions and still be tax free. Here, play this clip. Do you support that?
Donald Trump
I love the fact that churches can endorse a political candidate. I think so, because we have a lot of respect for the people that lead the church, for the pastors, the ministers and the rabbis and the all different leaders, all different religions and people respect those people. And I think there's nothing wrong. You know, it was a very big penalty if that took place. Just a little while ago, they had a thing called the Johnson act, and it was a very big penalty. I think it's great if a pastor, minister, priest, rabbi, and we could very much go into your religion, by the way, which is something that people are having great respect for the world.
Host
Yeah, that's a new settlement that the IRS entered into saying, churches, we will still consider you to be nonprofits if you endorse political Candidates. Donald Trump then starts getting very bored about this press conference and you'll see him gesturing to one of the African leaders. Hey, can you wrap this up here? Watch this. Let's play it.
African Leader
Resources in our sea waters, so lots of fishing and whatnot. I don't want to spend too much time on this.
Donald Trump
But I appreciate it very much. I appreciate it. Maybe we're going to have to go a little bit quicker than this because we have a whole schedule. If I could just say it's, you know, your name and your country would be great. Thank you. Please, Trump.
Host
Then Fox state regime media asks him a question. When was the last time you went sunbathing? Very odd. Let's play it.
Reporter
And now, a few weeks after the strikes that you ordered on the nuclear facilities in Iran, there is an Iranian facilitate, an Iranian official who says you, President Trump, have done something that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar a Lago. As you lie there with your stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit you in the navel. It's very simple. Do you think that's a real threat? And when is the last time you went sunbathing anyway?
Donald Trump
I've been a long time. It's been a long time. I don't know, maybe I was around 7 or so. I'm not too big into it. Yeah, I guess it's a threat. I'm not sure it's a threat actually, but perhaps it is.

Then Donald Trump is asked if he will be tariffing any of the countries that are at this meeting today. He's issued numerous tariff letters as he calls them to other countries during the day. And just watch what he says here.
African Leader
Play this clip here to face tariffs as well.
Donald Trump
I haven't thought of it, but I maybe, I don't know. Let's say I like him, him, him, him and him. No, I don't think so. Not too much. Very good. These are friends of mine now.
Host
And now if you want to see how our trade deals are actually done and made right now, the president of Senegal says to Donald Trump, you are a great golfer, Donald. Do you want a golf course in Senegal? Here, watch this.
African Leader
Senegal has exceptional opportunities to offer, including in the area of tourism. So perhaps an investment could be made in a golf course in Senegal. It would just be six hours by flight from New York, from Miami, from Europe or from the Gulf. And that would be an opportunity for you to show off your skills on the golf course, too. Thank you for your attention, sir.
Donald Trump
Nice. Some way to show off my skills. It's a long trip to show off my skill, but that's really nice. And he's led a very interesting life. He looks like a very young person. He's a little older than he.
Host
As you saw before, Donald Trump's basically saying his decisions on tariffing as if he knows the country or if he likes the country. So that's what's going on in the White House, which you just saw right there with the president of Senegal. Then Donald Trump calls Senator Cory Booker and Alex Padilla, people who hate our country. Let's play it.
Reporter
And on one other subject, two Democratic senators now, Cory Booker and Alex Padilla have a new bill out. They want to require CBP and ICE officers to have legible IDs, and they don't want CBP or ICE officers covering their faces. Would you ever sign that?
Donald Trump
Well, they wouldn't be saying that if they didn't hate our country, and they obviously do. I'm surprised that they would do it, knowing a little bit about them. I don't know them well, but these officers are doing a tremendous job. They're.
Host
Donald Trump then looks around the room and he particularly likes one female reporter from Africa. And he goes, where is my reporter from Africa? That's how he refers to her. Where's my reporter from Africa? Where's my reporter from Africa? And she goes, I'm here.
Donald Trump
Play this clip talking to you as we have the meal. Do you want to ask any questions, please? Where's my reporter from Africa? There you are. How are you?
African Leader
I'm fine, thank you, Mr. President.
Donald Trump
Very famous in Africa.
African Leader
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I have one question for the African presidents and one question for President Trump as you then.
Host
Donald Trump, who's used anti Semitic slurs over the past number of days, says that Harvard, he attacks Harvard University in this meeting of international leaders and says Harvard is very anti Semitic. Let's play.
African Leader
Mr. President, your administration took new actions against Harvard University today. Are you still optimistic about reaching a deal with the university?
Donald Trump
Oh, yeah, I think so. Harvard's been very bad, totally anti Semitic, and yeah, they'll, they'll absolutely reach a deal.
Host
Peter, Donald Trump then says that former FBI director James Comey and John Brennan, former CIA director, are very dishonest people who should pay a price for it. In response to a question about whether they should be bars Here, play this clip.
Reporter
James Comey and John Brennan now under criminal investigation related to the Trump Russia probe. Do you want to see these two guys behind bars?
Donald Trump
Well, I know nothing about it other than what I read today. But I will tell you, I think they're very dishonest people. I think they're crooked as hell and maybe they have to pay a price for that. I think, I believe they are truly bad people and dishonest people. So whatever happens, happens.
Host
And now, as you may know, the doj, to cover up the fact that they're now claiming the Epstein files and the Epstein list does not exist, announced that they would be investigating Comey and Brennan in order to distract from Trump covering up the Epstein files because of Donald Trump's relationship with Epstein. By the way, the reporters should have asked Donald Trump A question about Jeffrey Epstein. In that press conference every day, Donald Trump should be asked about Jeffrey Epstein. We're going to focus on it here in the Midas Touch. I mean it. Every time there's a Cabinet meeting or one of these propaganda things, reporters should say, what about the Epstein files? And then see Donald Trump's response. Oh, wait, are you too afraid you're going to lose your access? Cable news reporters. Then Donald Trump wraps it up and says, great job, everybody. We did great. This, this was.
Donald Trump
You did good. You did good.
Host
You did good. Like it's a reality TV show. Like, like this is the Apprentice here. Play this clip.
Donald Trump
Okay? Thank you all very much. Thank you very much. Thank you. Good job, everybody. Thank you. It was a good job.
Host
And folks, that was utterly, utterly deranged, what you just witnessed. We don't normalize that here at the Midas Touch network. We call it out for what it is. And obviously, you know, Donald Trump is not just humiliating himself, shaming the White House, but frankly, the entire United States of America with his weak, pathetic and vile behavior. But what else would you expect? He's a sexual abuser found liable. He's a felon. He's a criminal. He's been found liable for fraud, and he's a bankrupter. He's a piece of trash. Just say what it is. The MeidasTouch Podcast Episode Summary
Episode Title: Trump Has Disaster Presser in WH with African Leaders
Release Date: July 10, 2025
Host: MeidasTouch Network (Ben, Brett, Jordy Meiselas)
In this episode of The MeidasTouch Podcast, the Meiselas brothers delve into former President Donald Trump's recent and widely criticized press conference with five African leaders at the White House. Combining sharp political analysis with their characteristic humor and brotherly banter, Ben, Brett, and Jordy unpack the numerous gaffes and troubling statements made by Trump, highlighting the implications for U.S. democracy and international relations.
The episode begins with the brothers setting the stage for Trump's press conference, describing it as "utterly deranged" and highlighting its disastrous nature. They emphasize how Trump's interactions with African leaders have not only embarrassed himself but also tarnished the reputation of the United States on the global stage.
The press conference opens with Trump addressing the President of Liberia, remarking on his English proficiency:
Donald Trump [00:15]: "Well, thank you. And such good English. Such beautiful. Where did you, where did you learn to speak so beautifully? Where were you educated? Where? In Liberia? Yes, sir. Well, that's very interesting. It's beautiful language. I have people at this table can't speak nearly as well."
Analysis: The brothers point out the inappropriateness of Trump's comment, noting that English is Liberia's official language. This backhanded compliment underscores Trump's lack of preparation and awareness of the country's linguistic context.
When questioned about the halt of weapon shipments to Ukraine, Trump responds ambiguously:
Donald Trump [00:55]: "Well, I haven't thought about it because we're looking at Ukraine right now and munitions. But I have. No, I have not gone into it."
Analysis: The hosts criticize Trump's evasive answers, highlighting his inability to provide clear information on critical foreign policy decisions. They underscore the potential dangers of such disorganization in leadership.
A notable moment occurs when Trump discusses how he calculates tariffs:
Donald Trump [01:42]: "The formula was a formula based on common sense, based on deficits, based on how we've been treated over the years and based on raw numbers... We never had anybody in the White House that understood the numbers or were into it like I have."
Analysis: The brothers mock Trump's oversimplified explanation, arguing that tariff policies require nuanced economic analysis rather than vague references to "common sense" and "deficits."
Trump makes unfounded statements regarding gasoline prices:
Donald Trump [02:47]: "Things are more cost. Know they're much less costly. Yesterday, $1.99 a gallon is two states, three states. We're selling gasoline at $1.99."
Analysis: The hosts fact-check Trump's claims, pointing out discrepancies between his statements and actual gasoline prices. They accuse him of misleading the public through false statements.
When asked about Chinese investments in American farmland near military installations, Trump responds nonchalantly:
Donald Trump [03:55]: "Well, I don't want to get into that. I have a very good relationship with President Xi. We're going to see and I'm going to... they're paying a lot of tariffs to the United States now."
Analysis: The brothers highlight Trump's dismissive attitude toward national security concerns, emphasizing the potential risks of allowing foreign ownership near strategic military sites.
Trump expresses support for churches endorsing political candidates:
Donald Trump [04:28]: "I love the fact that churches can endorse a political candidate... I think there's nothing wrong."
Analysis: The hosts discuss the implications of this stance on the separation of church and state, raising concerns about the potential politicization of religious institutions.
An unusual moment arises when Trump is asked about sunbathing and potential drone threats:
Donald Trump [06:36]: "I've been a long time. It's been a long time... I'm not sure it's a threat actually, but perhaps it is."
Analysis: The brothers find this exchange perplexing, pointing out the lack of seriousness in addressing legitimate security threats, which undermines national safety protocols.
Trump reacts negatively to Democratic senators' proposals regarding CBP and ICE officers:
Donald Trump [10:39]: "Well, they wouldn't be saying that if they didn't hate our country... these officers are doing a tremendous job."
Analysis: The hosts criticize Trump's attempt to delegitimize Democratic efforts and defend law enforcement without addressing the underlying issues, thus fostering division.
Trump accuses Harvard of being anti-Semitic:
Donald Trump [12:01]: "Harvard's been very bad, totally anti Semitic, and yeah, they'll absolutely reach a deal."
Analysis: The brothers condemn Trump's baseless accusations, linking them to a pattern of discriminatory rhetoric that exacerbates societal tensions.
When questioned about James Comey and John Brennan, Trump brands them as dishonest:
Donald Trump [12:37]: "I think they're crooked as hell and maybe they have to pay a price for that."
Analysis: The hosts highlight Trump's unfounded personal attacks on former officials, examining the detrimental impact on public trust in government institutions.
The episode concludes with the Meiselas brothers reiterating their disapproval of Trump's conduct during the press conference. They emphasize the importance of holding leaders accountable and maintaining the integrity of American democracy. The brothers call on listeners to stay informed and engaged, reflecting on the broader implications of such public performances by political figures.
Donald Trump on Tariffs:
"The formula was a formula based on common sense, based on deficits..." (01:42)
Trump on Gasoline Prices:
"We're selling gasoline at $1.99... You haven't seen that for a long time." (02:47)
Trump on Harvard University:
"Harvard's been very bad, totally anti Semitic..." (12:01)
Trump on Former Officials:
"I think they're crooked as hell and maybe they have to pay a price for that." (12:37)
Lack of Preparedness: Trump's numerous gaffes reflect a concerning lack of preparation and understanding of international contexts and policies.
Eroding Trust: The dismissive and derogatory remarks undermine trust in leadership and exacerbate political divisions.
Impact on U.S. Image: Such public performances damage the United States' reputation globally, affecting diplomatic relations and national security.
Call for Accountability: The episode underscores the necessity for holding leaders accountable to preserve democratic values and institutional integrity.
