losing it as Iran's leadership is ghosting him. Earlier today, Donald Trump said that he has made significant progress in ending his disastrous and unlawful war in Iran after he made a 48 or ultimatum demand to Iran get out of the Strait of Hormuz or else we will blow up all of these civilian energy infrastructure in Iran. Iran responded. We will not submit to those threats and we will blow up all these civilian energy infrastructure and desalination facilities of the Arab nation, neighbors of ours. If you do that, we will cause total annihilation in the region. And then earlier this morning, right before the markets were about to open Donald Trump manipulated, manipulated said markets, oil markets, the stock market, the bond market, by saying, we basically have a deal in principle to end the war in Iran. And then Donald Trump held a bizarre press conference from the tarmac in Florida saying that he and the Ayatollah would jointly control the Strait of Hormuz together. That there were 15 points in the negotiation that were being ironed out, but they were very, very close. And, and then Iranian official after Iranian official denied that any of these communications had taken place, either directly or indirectly. So then the Trump regime said, well, actually the conversations are happening with the guy named M.B. galloba, who's the President and the head of Iran's parliament. And he responded and say, and said, nope, these conversations are not happening at all. Then Donald Trump's been in Tennessee today talking about how much he loves Elvis and also basically saying that he has this relationship with Tennessee where he tried to like imply, almost like it's better than sexual relationships. Very bizarre behavior again from a deranged and demented person. And this as it's increasingly clear that the 82nd Airborne Division in the United States military is now heading over to the military, heading over to the Middle east, including the very elite paratrooper group there. So here's what Abbas Asiani reports. A very well sourced Iranian journalist, as Laura Rosen puts it, a well sourced Iranian journalist says that the US proposed via intermediaries to now do talks between JD Vance and Iran's Parliamentary Speaker Golibouff. But Iran has not yet responded. I'll just read you what Abbas, as Yani writes, breaking US via intermediaries, has proposed these talks between JD Vance and Iran's Parliament Speaker Golibouf. Iran has not responded to the idea yet. The idea seemingly stems from deep seated Iranian distrust of Steve Witkoff and his involvement in any negotiation process. Well, I have news for you. J.D. vance is far less trustworthy or equally as untrustworthy as Witkoff and Kushner. But this was the plan to announce that there was a deal made when there weren't even negotiations happening, manipulate our markets here and then propose JD Vance speak with Iran. And by the way, Iran has just been mocking the United States. Have you seen what their embassy from South Africa posted? They said, yup, Donald Trump and the Ayatollah working to control the Strait of Hormuz together. And it's like the actual steering wheel of a car and then the kids steering wheel and the passenger side, I mean they're just mocking Donald Trump and the United States of America and Again, when Trump makes this stuff up, I mean, sure, it manipulates our markets here and maybe prevents temporarily a crash, but it doesn't address the systemic issues and it weakens the United States. And if you're Iran and you see this, you see desperation and weakness. And I think you also see, well, are you just buying time right now to try to get the 82nd Airborne Division here? Because Israel continues to pound Tehran. That hasn't changed at all. And none of the dynamics of the war have changed other than Donald Trump just lying and lying and lying. And so MB Golubov, again, the head of the parliament for Iran, here's what he wrote 55 minutes ago from my recording of this video. Iran is fighting for humanity. The world is either with Gaza and against this colonial terror regime, or it stands with the Epstein class and child torturers. There is no middle ground. Hashtag Gaza genocide. So that's the guy that Trump says that he's negotiating with and making progress with. Or what about what he said a few hours before that? He says no negotiations have been held with the US and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US And Israel are trapped. Iranian people demand complete and remorseful punishment of the aggressors. All Iranian officials stand firmly behind their supreme leader and people until this goal is achieved. And Trump's responses? I'm negotiating directly with the Ayatollah when we know that's not true and the Iranians know that's not true. And you're saying you're going to control the Strait of Hormuz together with the Ayatollah?
E
Come on.
D
I mean, that's so deeply pathetic. Now, senior military officials, the New York Times reports, are weighing the possible deployment of a brigade combat team from U.S. army's 82nd Airborne Division, roughly 3,000 power troopers assigned to the Immediate Response Force IRF, which are capable of deploying anywhere in the world within 18 hours, as well as some elements of the division's headquarter staff at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. But then what we see is a significant movement underway from the U.S. army, Navy and Air Force bases as well. And it does appear deployment of the 82nd Airborne Division as well as other units are now underway from bases within the continental United States toward the Middle east as staging continues for possible ground operations in Iran. In further preparation of these ground operations, the US is advancing $23 billion in arms sales to Gulf allies. Drop site reports the Trump administration has advanced $23 billion in weapon sales to UAE, Kuwait and Jordan without congressional approval, according to the Wall Street Journal. And this includes $17 billion or $16 billion for air defense systems, munitions, radar, equipment, $7 billion in weapons to the UAE that could be going to your health care, to your education, to better hospitals, to improving the lives of Americans. But that's where this is now being sent to. And I'll just show you what's going on in Iran. Iranians in multiple cities earlier today formed human chains around the major power plants following US Threats to strike energy infrastructure, according to video shared by the Fars News. That's their regime news right there. And you see them doing that. Now, to be clear, this is their propaganda, right? This is what they are pushing. But here's their propaganda. On the other hand, you have Donald Trump talking and Pete Hegseth talking about raining death from the sky. Totally. You not annihilating and blowing up Iran. And the language that's used by Trump and the Epstein class plays right into the propaganda of Iran. So I think it's important tactically to think through how the communication is happening, because communications is part of the battle that is taking place as well. We'll show you right here. Just so you see that the strikes are underway still in Iran. Strikes in Isfahan, Iran. This is being still taken out by Israel and the United States. Meanwhile, in the Strait of Hormuz, really, the ships that are being able to leave India, China, but they're paying money for safe passage as Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz. Senior Iranian officials are saying, look, Washington refuses to accept the essential conditions. They must pay reparations to us and they must acknowledge the aggression against us. So now Donald Trump's in Tennessee. I want to show you what is going on in Tennessee. So the first thing, Donald Trump, while all this is going on, he's in Tennessee. He starts saying that he has a great relationship with Tennessee and it's a lot safer than relationships with other things. What does he mean by this? I mean, it's deeply creepy. Play this clip votes.
F
So I happen to like the state. I love Tennessee. Maybe someday I'll move to Tennessee. I might have to move. No, I love it. You never know what that is. You know, you just have a relationship with the state. It's a lot safer than relationships with other things, I can tell you as a politician.
D
But I especially then Donald Trump blames Pete Hegseth for the war in Iran and says, we were doing so good with the stock market, so we had to take an excursion. Here's what Trump says.
F
And then unfortunately I came. I called Pete, I called General Kaine, I called a lot of our great people. We have great people. And I said, let's talk. We got a problem in the Middle East. We have a country known as Iran that for 47 years has been just a purveyor of terror and they're very close to having a nuclear weapon. We can keep going and get that 50,000 up to 55 and 60. There's no end. Or we can take a stop and make a little journey into the Middle east and eliminate a big problem. And Pete, I think you were the first one to speak up and you said, let's do it because you can't let them have a nuclear weapon. So we are now having really good discussions. They started last night, a little bit the night before that.
E

Donald Trump again continues to lie, saying, we have good settlement discussions with Iran. They want to settle. I hope they don't. There are not discussions taking place. This is a lie. But listen to what he says here. Play this clip.
F
It's a billions of dollars it costs to build a one missile, one of our powerful ones, and it comes down to the ground like it was made out of dust. But to determine whether a broader agreement can be reached, we've had very good discussions, Very, very good discussions. And you have to understand, I know my whole life has been a negotiation. But with Iran, we've been negotiating for a long time, and this time they mean business. And it's only because of the great job that our military did is the reason they mean business. They want to settle and we're going to get it done.
D
And then Donald Trump says, well, I hope we're in a good place or we can just totally annihilate Iran. And again, you're not talking about the regime, you're talking about the people now. And when you say annihilate them, you're talking about a genocide of the people, killing the people, civilian infrastructure. And all you're doing is making the people rally around the ayatollah. Listen to what he says. Play this clip.
F
During this fight, they've really been a good partner in the fight. They fought hard, but we'll see what happens. I think there's a very good chance we're going to end up in a deal. And so we're giving it five days and then we're going to see where that takes us. And I would say at the end of this period, I think it could very well end up being a very good deal for everybody. As good as if we went all the way and just literally annihilated the place, which, which if we don't have to do that, that would be a good thing, not a bad thing. In addition, after the appalling lines and
D
massive disruption, then Donald Trump says nobody was aware that they were going to be shooting their neighbors, that Iran would attack the nearby Arab nations where there's military bases. Play this clip.
F
More important, and we did it quicker. Iran's missile capabilities were also growing so fast. And it would soon have become virtually impossible to stop them. Once they have a missile, once they have. What they were building was incredible. And you got a little glimpse of it by the fact that when they came out, they started shooting all of their neighbors. Their neighbors weren't fighting with them. They were getting along okay with their neighbors. And I was surprised they were. Everybody was surprised. And it actually worked in reverse because their neighbors then turned against them.
D
And then Trump starts ranting and raving about the sound system in Iran. I'll show you what he says here. Play this clip.
F
Thank you. Wow, there's a nice place with the best sound system. I don't know who did. Sounds like the finest opera hall in anywhere in the world. Let's come back here more often. So often you have sound systems that aren't the greatest. There's nothing worse. Making a speech when nobody can hear you. This is beautiful, and it's a great place. And Memphis has to like me because I have a lot of friends here. And they were not happy a year ago, two years ago, four years ago, and now.
D
And Pete Hegseth in front of this, by the way, they filled up this crowd at Tennessee with mostly National Guard military police members. This was described in the travel note of the reporter press pool that was there. They described that most of the people in this audience were military police. But then Pete Hegse talks about sending troops, American troops in the United States against the United States. As Laura Rosen explains, the US Military is not supposed to do domestic law enforcement. Play this clip.
G
Because every American, without exception, is entitled to safe, clean and beautiful cities. Cities where you can walk in peace, cities where law enforcement can do their job. And to that end, the Department of War stands shoulder to shoulder with state and federal partners so that our streets can be defended once again. Kind of like the visual I'm looking at right here. I see a lot of civilian leaders and police, law enforcement leaders in the front. And who's behind you? Men and women in camouflage having your back every single day like we do in this mission. So thank you. Thank you for working tirelessly to protect this state and restore law and order. And the results, they speak for themselves.
D
And then Donald Trump ranting and raving that he loves Elvis. Let's play it.
F
You know, I'm going to see Graceland after this, I think. Is that right? I love Elvis. I never met Elvis. Everyone said, did you? I met them all. I met Sinatra. I knew all of them. I never met Elvis. Sometimes I feel I should tell the little fibs that I knew well. I know I love Elvis, but I never met him. But I'm going to go see Graceland after this, I think. I'm sure it's not going to be a very long stay.

Hosts: Ben, Brett, and Jordy Meiselas
In this episode, the Meiselas brothers dissect the latest chaotic moves by Donald Trump amid escalating tensions in Iran. They hone in on Trump’s bizarre claims of striking a pseudo-deal with Iran’s leadership—claims immediately rebuffed by Tehran—and his increasingly erratic behavior in public, underscored by references to Elvis and strange comments about Tennessee. The episode navigates through the impact of Trump’s narrative manipulation on geopolitical stability, military deployments, the danger of propagandistic misinformation, and the chasm between U.S. government statements and on-the-ground reality.
The episode’s tone oscillates between alarm, disbelief, and the irreverent humor characteristic of the Meiselas brothers. While expressing deep unease at Trump’s unmoored diplomatic style and reckless language, they mock his self-aggrandizing detours (Elvis, Tennessee), highlight the absurdity and danger of his “fake deal” theatrics, and reinforce their unwavering stance for democracy and honest leadership. The brothers contextualize current events with sharp analysis and bite, making the stakes clear for listeners: these aren’t merely political scandals, but actions impacting global stability, American security, and the soul of U.S. democracy.
