I think that some of the tech that exists that whatever these things have, these energy things have energy things. What do you mean? Well, they call them interdimensional beings. I think that they can actually operate through the time spaces that we currently have. And that's not something that I came up with on my own. That's based on stuff that we've seen, that's based on information that we've been told. And then also too, I think that there's this historical aspect of, you know, this gets into the deeper theories and concepts of religion and I think the history that we currently know. And that kind of spins off into another topic of, you know, you have the modern day Bible, you have this aspect of Bibles that are books of the Bible that have been removed that explain and kind of touch on these topics. And I think that we're in a time and age where you have such a vast amount of information that we have access to via social media, via your cell phone, via the Internet. And so it's really changing the way that we understand the origins of life and the spiritual reality that we know.

So in case you had trouble following that, the claim from this ostensibly conservative member of Congress is that the US Government develops technology by reverse engineering the spaceships of interdimensional extraterrestrial aliens, the existence of which was hidden by the Council of Rome in the year 382, but which has since come to light because now we have cell phones. I hate to criticize Republicans in Congress or in the administration or anywhere, but that clip, that one really got me because it touched on so many things that aren't true, like not just the aliens and the spaceships, but really, I guess what tipped me off was this point she made about books of the Bible being removed, because that's true, that people have removed books of the Bible over the years. I don't think she's talking about Martin Luther and the Book of Tobit or something. I don't think we're talking about Ecclesiasticus here. This sounds very gnostic. This sounds very New Agey. This sounds real hippy dippy. And just to make sure that I wasn't reading something into it that wasn't there, I watched another clip where Congress lady Anna Polina Luna had this to say about what she means about people taking books out of the Bible.

You know, why is it that you also have this aspect of a certain religion that has been very controlled and I think rolled out in a certain aspect. And when you have certain books that are removed because they don't think that people should have access to this information or know it. You know, why remove a book from a Bible?

You have to really understand the history of the Bible to be able to.

Well, so from what I gather, and by the way, I'm not a theologian in any capacity, but just from my personal opinion on this. So you have the Ethiopian Orthodox text, which has, I think, 88 books of the Bible in total. But in the Ethiopian Orthodox text, it's basically kind of like a mainline OG version of the Bible. And then sometime in the 4th century, there was actually a group that came together and they removed certain books.

Okay, all right, listen, I'm not a theologian, but I'm just gonna say a bunch of stuff anyway. Listen, I don't know anything that I'm talking about, but I'm gonna just start talking, okay? And I love Rogan here, and he says, yeah, have you considered talking to intelligent people about this? Have you? Huh? No. Interesting. No, I'm with you. I'm going to let you finish. But have you considered speaking to anyone who knows anything about this? And you can tell that what she's talking about here is the Catholics. She's taking a hit at Catholics. She's saying there was a certain religion in antiquity, in the earliest years of the church, this certain organization that was very controlled. Huh? Yeah, I'm looking at you, you mackerel snappers. I'm very controlled. And they took books out of the Bible. And so it's clear she's not referring to, say, Protestant revolutionaries later on, you know, taking the deuterocanonical books and calling them apocrypha, or taking them out entirely or questioning the Epistle of James or any of these things. She's talking about the Gnostic texts, which is what all the New Agey pro alien people are always talking about. Hey, have you ever heard about the Gospel of Thomas, man? Yeah, man, they didn't put that one. They took that one out of the Bible. What does it mean? They took it out of the Bible? The canon of the Bible was not set until 382. She says, well, the Ethiopians some of the Ethiopians have a different canon of the Bible. Okay, well, who died and made the Ethiopians pope? Who cares about the Ethiopia? Listen, it's interesting. It's interesting to compare different canons, but I don't even understand the argument that would impel this woman to say, well, yes, the Ethiopians, they clearly are the infallible authority on what constitutes the canon of the Bible compared to ecumenical councils many, many times over the years at Rome, Hippo, Carthage, Florence, Trent. Finally, Trent really just reiterates everything that we've been hearing since antiquity. Those were ecumenical councils with bishops from all over the place. She saw this group of people got together, they took books out of the Bible. There was no canon of the Bible until the canon was set. And this is the other thing about the Gnostic texts that are all really weird and hippie and New Agey, and a lot of people who are into this stuff cite them. If you've ever read. I've read some of these books. If you've ever read the heretical Gospel of Thomas or something like that, the one takeaway you'll have is, I think the church fathers, I think the ecumenical councils, they probably got it right because these books were written much later. They don't have good provenance. They're ridiculous in most ways. I think they probably got it right. But also, just because something's not included in the canon of the Bible doesn't mean you can't read it. You can read it and judge for yourself and recognize why it's not in the canon of the Bible. I mean, there are good books that are not in the canon of the Bible, like the Proto Evangelium of James, for instance. But there are also stupid, ridiculous books that are not in the canon of the Bible, like a bunch of gnostic Manichean nonsense and heretical pseudo gospels that were written centuries after the fact. All for what? Because, man. Because you don't understand, man. They've been covering up the alien spaceship since the 4th century, man. Good grief. Not. I don't. I don't think that's the most plausible explanation for how we got drones. I don't know. Call me, call me crazy. And the president, ever the showman. Posts on truth Social, high stakes, all caps 3 exclamation marks, exclamation points, I should say. What's this meeting about? Is this just gonna be a sort of. They go. They don't resolve anything. The war doesn't end. Not quite. Because the Trump administration is signaling something big could happen if they don't come to a deal. Now the onus is on Putin agree to a ceasefire or show real movement or there will be severe repercussions. Putin has to show very positive movement. Trump. Trump is signaling that if the meeting goes well, then they'll have a follow up summit that involves Zelensky. And if it doesn't go well, according to Axios, quote, we are not going to have a second meeting. So everyone's gonna attack Trump. The squishes and the hawks and the libs and the neocons and everyone's gonna attack Trump. He shouldn't be meeting with Putin. He shouldn't meet on US Soil. He shouldn't. He shouldn't. He shouldn't. One observation. Trump is one of the only people in the world who wants to end the war in Ukraine. The Democrats don't want to end the war in Ukraine. The establishment Republicans don't want to end the war in Ukraine. Some don't want to end the war in Ukraine because they are pretending that Ukraine is some liberal democracy utopia, which it obviously is not. Some have better reasons because they say, well, Putin is the aggressor in this war and we don't want to cede American influence and American hegemony. Some are looking at it more cynically, but understandably from a grand strategic perspective and saying, look, the Russians are bogged down in this war. It's a meat grinder. The cost of that meat grinder is killing a whole generation of Ukrainian men. But the benefit will be that we're gonna kill a whole generation of Russian men and we'll degrade the Russian army. Russia still has a lot of intercontinental ballistic missiles pointed at us. Russia was our chief geopolitical adversary for most of 20th century, and so seems like a win win, right? Well, let's keep the war going. The more Russians we can kill, the better. That is the grand strategic argument that is being made implicitly and in some cases explicitly. Trump is one of the only guys saying, we have to stop the bloodshed. This war has gone on long enough. This war has been going on for 11 years. People forget because they only trace it back to the big invasion into Ukraine, which happened after Trump left office, when Biden was in office, because Biden looked weak and essentially invited Putin in. But this doesn't only post date. The first Trump administration actually predates it because Putin went into Crimea under Obama. This goes back to 2014, and there's all sorts of US involvement. In 2014, there was the Maidan revolution. The CIA would appear to have had some role, as it does in most geopolitical affairs. So this goes on for a long time. How much longer are we gonna let it go on? How many more people are gonna die? How long from a strategic viewpoint? How long are we going to allow this regional war, which is really a proxy war, to continue, thereby raising the risk of a global conflict or even a nuclear conflict? How long are we gonna let that go on? The meeting is between Trump and Putin. Trump and Putin are the only two people who can end the war, because it's not really a war between Ukraine and Russia. It's a war between the United States And Russia and the battlefield is Ukraine. And Trump is saying, I want to wind this down. I want to focus on other things. I want to keep our powder dry. I want the bloodshed to stop. When people call him a tyrant and an authoritarian and this and that, Trump is basically the only guy on earth who is not only calling for peace, but actually trying to achieve peace. That is a cause for reflection, whether you're on the Nobel Peace Prize committee or whether you're just an average Trump critic. Okay, Speaking of foreigners on our soil, Gavin Newsom. This was delicious. Gavin Newsom held a rally. It wasn't really a rally. The word rally is overstating it. He got a handful of people into a room and he wants to run for president. So he's dressed up in his best presidential looking suit and he's got his presidential looking campaign behind him with signs that say defend democracy. It's not really a rally. It's kind of a weak press conference anyway, as he is speaking right as the rally is going on, Trump sends ICE in to arrest illegals who are all around the rally and right outside at this exact moment are dozens and dozens of ICE agents. Donald Trump. You think it's coincidental? Donald Trump and his minions, Tom Homan, tough guy, clearly decided, coincidentally or not, that this was a location to advance ICE arrests.

Border Patrol agents are making arrests. Illegal immigrants. I don't know if they were at this press conference, if they were in the area. But this is a very, as John put it, we first saw this video, a very in your face way.

Yeah, it is in your face. And the optics are brilliant. The optics are brilliant here. If I were Newsom, I would not have called attention to this. One, because ICE is popular. The mass migrations are popular. It won the popular vote in November. But two, the implication is that the Democrat constituency is foreigners. It's illegal aliens, it's foreign criminals. That's the insinuation, because Newsom can whine and complain and say you think the timing is coincidental. Tom Homan, tough guy. Yeah, he is a tough guy. He looks tougher than you. I wouldn't point that out. That's not. You gotta keep your mouth shut on some of these things. That doesn't look good. But he keeps yapping and he says he sent the ICE agents in and they're arresting illegals outside. Why were they able to do that? How were they able to do that? They were able to do that because your state is teeming with illegal aliens. Tom Homan could send a team in to basically Any part of California, at any hour of the day, any day of the week. And he would round up a lot of illegals because you let him in and you continue to support them there. And you do so cynically, cuz you think it's gonna give you an electoral permanent majority. And the American people hate that. This was shooting fish in a barrel. And the fact that they could do this shows how terrible your leadership is and it shows how weak your constituency is. This is a horrible look for Newsom. Just keep your mouth shut, man. If they're arresting the illegals all around, you, don't call attention to it. Unless. Unless Newsom's going to lean into being the far left candidate that he was earlier in his career. The guy who was officiating gay marriages when it was illegal in San Francisco. That was the first part of his career. But I thought Newsom was gonna try to moderate now, Remember, he was gonna become a podcast bro and he was gonna become a debate me bro. And he was gonna ape the American right circa 2016. And he was gonna suck up to Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon. Remember that? What happened to that? Well, that didn't play either, cuz that was gonna lose him the primary. But if he plays to the Democrat primary base and he sucks up to illegal alien criminals, then he's gonna lose the general. And he is a talented politician, but he is just running up against the Democrat problem right now, which is that they have nowhere to turn. Anything they do hurts them with the voters. This is so terrible. Outside of our rally, all of our supporters are getting rounded up because they're foreign criminals. Oops, Whoops. Now, speaking of big conservative wins, this is a cultural win, but it's a win. It's a win. Beyond Meat is heading to bankruptcy. Do you remember Beyond Meat? This was a fad over the last 10 years during the rise of veganism and the environmental activism and the climate change hysteria. When the corporations and the political elites told us that they were going to take away our meat, take away our hamburgers, take away our steaks, and they were gonna serve as these lab grown, congealed, bizarre concoctions of vegetable pseudo meat. And they put it on the menu at fast food restaurants and they tried to put it into grocery stores. And Beyond Meat is now filing chapter 11 bankruptcy. Why? Because there's no market for that. And part of the shift is no one cares about climate change anymore. That Democrat boogeyman just had diminishing marginal returns. Even the Democrats don't talk about it really anymore. So that's done. And we no longer trust our scientific elites and public health officials because of COVID and the Crunchies all moved to the right. So now the real hippie dippy, all natural anti Monsanto don't want the GMOs and the antibiotics. They used to be on the left, now they're on the right. And as a combination of all of those factors, the Crunchies want natural. They don't want the supposedly lab grown health food. They want natural and they want meat. And we realize meat is good and our bodies are made to eat meat. And it's cool. You don't need to worry. You're not gonna destroy the world if you eat a hamburger. So beyond meat. Headed to chapter 11. Sign of the times. It's not just beyond meat. There's a restaurant in New York that yuppies and fancy people and foodies and they love it. It's called Eleven Madison Park. I've never eaten there. The $500 tasting menus are not my things. I like good stuff. I'm a simple man. I'm easily satisfied by the very best of everything. But I'm a little more trad in my tastes. If I'm in New York going to a restaurant, I want to go to a really good steakhouse or something. I don't want to go to one of these fancy things where you get 15 plates and it's got a little bit of sea foam on a sprig of arugula next to a dollop of salt water from the Himalayas. That's not my thing. But eleven Madison park is one of those places. A lot of people love it. Four years ago, eleven Madison park, one of the hottest restaurants in the world. It was actually listed in 2017 as one of the world's 50 best restaurants. It has three Michelin stars. They decided they were gonna go vegan. They were gonna take not just meat off the menu. They were gonna take dairy, eggs, everything. And so they would serve up these course. It would be a three hour, a three hour nine course prefix meal for 350 bucks ahead, starting at 350 bucks ahead. One of the meals, according to reporting I've never been there, included a beet cooked 18 ways and tasting like pretty much any other beat. That's according to a review on eater.com even according to the New York Times, it tasted like Lemon Pledge and smells like a burger joint. Sorry, Like a burning joint, like the Asian oregano. Not even a burger joint. That would actually smell pretty good. The fancy bougie restaurants Are going back to meat. Beyond Meat is headed to bankruptcy. We. We won. We won. Trans is dead. The Supreme Court might overrule so called gay marriage. Cindy Sweeney is selling jeans just looking pretty. And the vegan, the vegans are ostracized. Meat is coming back to eleven Madison Park. Meat is coming back to meat companies. We won. We won. We won. We won. The popular vote, that was a sign of the times and then it was a cause and everything changed. The left, it's not that the left is dead forever. It's kind of lying dormant right now or it's receding. It could come back. It will come back at some point. But for right now, every single sign points to the right advancing. So of course, of course Republicans wanna take that and distract with a bunch of stupid issues or start inviting or do that's, you know, leave it to the right to try to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. But all the cultural signs looking good, man. Then we gotta protect those wins. Speaking of sacrificing animals is a guy who went on Timcast. He was on Tim Pool's show, his name is Adam King, and he was bragging or excitedly relating, I suppose, the fact that apparently Israelis have sacrificed a red heifer for the first time in millennia. And this could inaugurate the period where they are able to build the Third Temple in Jerusalem. I don't. It's a little confusing. I'll let him relate it.

There was an announcement that they were going to do a practice run of the red heifer. And prior to this, the media outrage that the Jews were going to go do this red heifer. You had these lunatics like Stu Peters and others who were saying, this is going to usher in the Antichrist, blah, blah, blah. And it was like a real big media Balagon. It was really a bad. A bad twist. So they said that they. And also the government wasn't going to let them. So what they did was they said, we're just going to do a practice one with a disqualified. One of the five disqualified cows. The government said, okay, whatever. They ended up going out doing a real cow. We can't build the temple until this happened. And now that this happened, the Messiah can come build the Third Temple.

Okay, so that's the claim. I don't know if any of that is true. I don't know if the cow that they allegedly sacrificed had a couple of black hairs on it, disqualifying it. I don't know. What I do know, though, is if they build the Third Temple, they should be very, very careful. Now, you know, I'm a Christian, so I don't. I think we have the Third Temple. I think the Third Temple is the resurrected Christ. And so things are gonna play out in history. You know, history is set in many ways. We still have freedom, and we can cooperate with God's grace or reject God's grace. But the beginning, the turning point of history and the end of history. We already know. We know the broad strokes of the story. And so, you know, I don't really worry about this stuff. Some people sweat, they stay up all night. Oh, no. Is it the end times? I don't know. I guess some generation's gonna live in the end times. Maybe, maybe not. I don't. Whatever. Oh, no. What happens if the Antichrist Comes. Well, he's gonna come at some point, you know, And I just want. But I. You know, my savior lives, so I'm not. It's gonna be what it's gonna be. And I think the story has a happy ending. Oh, no. Why are they sacrificing? I don't know. I mean, you know, they'll all convert in the end, you know. Look, it's all. It's all. It has a happy ending. There's a lot of trouble in the middle of it, but I don't sweat these kinds of things. Right? I just, you know, we have faith, we have hope, we have charity. That's very exciting. However, if one does wish to build a third physical temple, just a word of warning from antiquity. They have tried it before and it did not work out very well. Are you familiar with Julian the Apostate? You know, Emperor Julian the Apostate? He was not. He was an apostate. He wasn't Christian. He was promoting paganism and he decided it'd be a nice thing to rebuild the temple. So There was the first temple. The first temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC. Then there was the second temple. Second temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70, very shortly after the Resurrection and during the apostolic age. Then 363 AD, Julian the Apostate decides that he's going to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. And according to multiple historical accounts, some Christian, some pagan, when they tried to build the temple, fireballs shot out of the earth. This is. A lot of people have never heard this, but. So this is. I'm not even quoting a Christian source here. This is Ammianus Marcellinus. A pagan source says Julian thought to rebuild at an extravagant expense the proud temple once at Jerusalem and committed this task to Alypius of Antioch. Alypius set vigorously to work and was seconded by the governor of the province when fearful balls of fire breaking out near the foundations continued their attacks till the workmen, after repeated scorchings, could approach no more. And he gave up the attempt. So anyway, you know, history is going to play out as it is, and our Lord has finally tuned the cosmos to his purposes and can turn good out of even the bad that we do in our free will. And so, you know, again, don't you just stick close to. Stick close to Christ. Pray, you know, avail yourself of the sacraments and it's okay. Pray, hope and don't worry. Like Padre Pio says, but for any of the workmen who are getting into building the third Temple and everything. Watch out. I would definitely, I would take a dip in some cold water before you do that. Things could get kind of hot. All right. Speaking of moral habits, Surprising study out. Americans are drinking less. I'm trying to make up the difference for them. No, I'm joking. Even I, after my third kid, I rarely drink. Now Republicans are leading the decline. This is. The Americans are drinking less. That doesn't totally surprise me. There are all sorts of factors in here. First of all, marijuana is becoming much more prominent. So some people are just switching their preferred intoxicants. And we're in this kind of health moment where we're all eating sort of natural, non gmo, all that stuff. I don't think that totally explains it. And what's really weird is that Republicans are leading the decline. The share of U.S. adults, according to the Financial Times, who drink, who drink anything, ever fell to 54%. That's the lowest level since 1939, since Gallup began asking the question. Only 54% of U.S. adults drink ever. Just 46% of Republicans reported drinking this year. That's a decline of almost a third over the last two years. Now Democrats are drinking less too. But the share of Democrats who drank fell only by 5%. So Republicans have fell by a third. Less than half of Republican adults have had a drink at all this year. So some are saying, well, it's because they're smoking pot more. Maybe that's probably more the Democrats, but a little bit the Republicans. Okay, maybe some say it's the economy. The economy is actually pretty, relatively pretty good though. I mean, there's economic pinching and stuff, but I don't think that explains it. I'll tell you why. It's actually a very simple answer as to why people are drinking a lot less and Republicans especially are drinking a lot less. It's cuz Trump doesn't drink. That's actually why. It's not that everything is about Trump, but human beings follow the leader. We're memetic creatures and we follow the leader. And when the leader, especially a really prominent charismatic one who is considered an historic figure, at least an American historic figure, maybe a world historic figure, when he does stuff, we just copy it. We follow the leader, we dress like the leader, we talk like the leader, we. That's just how humans work that. Actually that fact has nothing to do with Trump. Trump just happens to be the leader. When JFK was president. JFK a less charismatic leader than Trump by a long shot. When he became president, people Stopped wearing hats. Men. Men used to wear hats. JFK decided to swap the hats for sunglasses. Immediately, you saw a massive drop off in the number of men wearing hats. King Edward vii. Do you remember him? King Edward vii. Not Edward viii. Not the one who was sympathetic to Hitler. Hitler, who you can learn about in the Pope and the Fuhrer. Edward VII got kind of fat and he looked weird in his jackets and his waistcoats, his vests. So he started unbuttoning the bottom button. That started a trend that persists to this day. Today, if a man buttons the bottom button of his jacket, he looks like a total schlub. Like a joker who broke into his grandpa's closet and doesn't know how to dress. That remains the universal rule that just began because Edward VII was kind of fat. We follow the leader. That's what it is. And that is an important lesson, not just about politics, but about human nature. Yeah, if the next president is a booze hound, you're going to see those numbers jump up through the roof again. If the next president is a pothead or, I don't know, whatever his vices, whatever his virtues, we are going to see that emulated throughout society. Which is why it is important, pace liberals, ideologues, libertarians. It's why it's important to elect our leaders and elevate people in our culture in a holistic way. It's why we have to be very serious. It's why we have to consider the intangibles. It's why electing the president isn't all just about policy. It isn't all just about regulations. It isn't all just about ideology. It's about the man, it's about the leader. It's about the spirited part of the government. It's about the thumas, it's about the ethos, it's about the credibility. Because there are downstream effects of leaders in all of human society. Whether we're talking about a single family household or whether we're talking about an entire nation. There are these downstream effects that transform a country in profound ways and in ways that often people miss and can't even articulate. It's summer's last stand. Hello, Michael, My name is Adam, and I'm a longtime listener of the show. I'm happy to say that you helped me along in my conversion to the Catholic faith, and I am now a high school theology teacher. One contentious issue that often comes up in the classroom is that of immigration. I remember a number of months ago that you stated that if you were king of the United States, you would grant the illegal immigrants in this country a kind of amnesty where they could remain in America and live in the shadows. However, you now seem to strongly oppose any bipartisan efforts for a policy approximating this. It seems to me that the best way to act in a way that is both just and merciful would be to secure the border and grant amnesty to illegal immigrants who are not committing crimes. My question is, what caused you to change your mind on this issue? And how do you reconcile mass deportation of nonviolent illegal immigrants with Christ's call for mercy? Marvelous. Marvelous question, but you misunderstand my point. Okay, so I'll take your second question. First. You say, how do you reconcile mass deportation with Catholicism? Christ is merciful. Yes. Christ is also just. And Christ tells us to render to Caesar what is Caesar's. And St. Paul tells us in the Bible, which is inerrant, that the civil authority is here for our own good, and God gives it to us. And that's important as a matter of natural justice. And the civil authority doesn't wield the sword in vain. So when the Bible tells us to be hospitable to the sojourner, to the foreigner who's passing through our lands, yes, we should be hospitable. That's a good thing to do. But that implies that they're gonna leave at some point when they're a sojourner, when they're a foreigner in a foreign land implies that they're going to get out of there at some point, doesn't imply that we have to immediately give them citizenship, set them up with welfare, and look the other way when they commit serious crimes. So that's the issue. There's no problem deporting illegal aliens. Now, I have said that if you can't get the mass deportations, actually, one way the mass deportations are working is through self deportation. You had the center for Immigration Studies study that just came out based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers that showed that over 2 million foreigners have left the country since January and 1.6 million of them are illegal aliens. 1.6 million. That's 10% of a conservative estimate, high end conservative estimate of the number of illegals in the country. So you actually are getting a decent amount of mass deportations, mostly through self deportation. But I did say, I said, look, if you can't actually get rid of all of them and if most people don't want to, and if it's a political impossibility, there is an option, let them live in the shadows. That is totally different from what you're conflating that with, which is you said so why do you oppose a bipartisan amnesty plan where you secure the border and give amnesty? We can't give amnesty. Amnesty is a path to citizenship. Amnesty is opening the border because you're creating such a massive incentive for people to continue to cross. I said if political necessities require it, that I would be okay with them living in the shadows, not having legal status, being at risk of deportation, having to behave when they commit crimes, they immediately get deported and go to naive Bukele's candy land down there in El Salvador. That would be a middle ground. The libs don't want that though. They need to give them amnesty to eventually give them citizenship, to at least allow their children to have birthright citizenship because they believe with some reason that that will give them a permanent electoral majority. We cannot allow that. Okay, next question.

Hi Michael, thanks for taking my question. So I was blessed to have been born into a fourth generation Christian home. But despite the biblical foundation, I realized after I got married how manipulative my mother is. She would advise me to actively undermine my husband's authority. Thankfully I ignored the advice. But now my husband and I have a beautiful one year old and my mom is undermining our authority in front of her. I've confronted her about this, but she says she never undermines her children. But I have multiple examples of her undermining me and my siblings. What do I do? Thanks.

What do you mean by undermine authority? Do you mean like a passing comment? You know, you say one thing and the mother in law says, oh come on dear, give it a. Come on. Don't, no, you don't mean that or whatever. Or do you mean like okay Sally, you can't have any candy and then grandma gives her candy? Or do you mean like okay Sally, we believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And then your mother in law or your mother says no, we're Buddhists or something. No, because I don't know, those are different degrees of undermining authority. But in any case, you need to draw Those boundaries, you have to do it in charity, with reverence for your mother. I wouldn't just cut her out entirely. I wouldn't tell her she can't see her grandkids. I wouldn't quite go that far. But I would say, hey, it's very important we keep it pretty trad around here, okay? It's in the tiny things that the rot begins. And we have an orderly household and we're gonna maintain an orderly household. And kids are sponges and they soak up everything. And so if you're not willing to behave in the appropriate way in the house, we're gonna have to put some guardrails on that. And you know, maybe the kid's not gonna go spend the weekend with grandma. And maybe we're not gonna. Maybe there are gonna have to be some consequences. Maybe if you keep undermining the parents authority, maybe we're gonna have to have maybe visit once a week. Not three times a week, once a month. You have to draw those lines. You have to do it with love. You have to do it with great respect for your mother. You have to do it with all these things that you're commanded to do. But to quote the head butler on the first season of the Crown, it's in the little things that the rot begins in. You have to draw a. The household is not a democracy. It's not even like a modern American democracy where foreigners come in and they get a vote. All of a sudden it's a monarchy and there's a pater familias. Your husband and you have a role in running this household. And to use the modern political line, cuius regio eius religio. Whose reign? His religion. You have a lot of authority here and your religion happens to be one that is, I guess, ostensibly shared by your mother. So she should agree. And if she's not doing that, you just have to gently insist upon boundaries. Okay, next question.

Hey, Michael. As a practicing Orthodox Jew, I find it quite difficult to hear you praise the likes of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella and the Crusaders. May their memories be blotted out. In addition, you seem to take very lightly the Jews historical and or theological claims to the land. All of this stemming from what it seems is your lack of belief that the Jews are still the chosen nation or special in any way, shape or form. A cursory reading of the Bible will make it clear beyond any shadow of a doubt that God has chosen the Jewish people as his chosen nation. And that he proclaims many, many, many, many times throughout the Torah, throughout the prophets, that he will never go back on his promise, even if the Jews sin under any circumstances. So how do you reconcile these things?

Thank you. Sure. Okay, I'll try to take them all. I'll try to hit all of those points. Well, you know, Christians believe that Christ does not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill the law, such that God does fulfill his promises to the Jewish people, not merely in a carnal and terr, but even in a spiritual way, in the person of Christ, who is a king, but he's the king of kings who saves the Jewish people. He actually saves the whole world because the people, the Israelites of the Old Testament, are a particular people set apart. And also they are a type of all of mankind. So that's how Christians understand the Bible. This doesn't mean that God no longer has a plan for the Jewish people, as you suggest. That I believe. I don't believe that God certainly does have a plan for the Jewish people, but God fulfills His promises in the church. So that would be why I don't believe in Zionism, which is a 19th century ideology. It's not even as though Zionism is some ancient intrinsic aspect of Rabbinic Judaism. It's an ideology that comes up after nationalism and which makes religious and historical claims to the land. Which is ironic because the initial concept of the State of Israel was that it would be secular and that it would be socialist. But in any case. So that's why I don't agree with that. In fact, I don't agree with most modern nationalist ideologies because I think modernity took a wrong turn. So, yeah, I don't believe in those sorts of claims. I do, however, think that the Jewish people are a special people, set apart, even as a tribe. So I do think they are set apart and it would be great to bring them on over to Holy Mother Church. And you're welcome anytime. The defense of the Crusades in Ferdinand and Isabella is not because on the Crusades in the Rhineland, Jews were massacred. That was quite bad. The Pope said so at the time. But that's not the whole story of the Crusades. It's a relatively minor, though unfortunate incident that occurred in the Crusades. But the Crusades were about something much, much more. Ferdinand and Isabella ended. The Reconquista finally booted the Muslims out of Iberia. The Muslims had been there for like 600 years, more than, sorry, like 800 years, and also sent Columbus to discover the Western Hemisphere. So again, that's not. They expelled the jews. And if I were a jew, I'd be pretty salty about that, too. But there's much more to the story of Ferdinand and Isabella, so that would be the issue. Yeah, I suppose. I have the least popular view of all these days, which is that I don't go along with modern ideologies or even modern theological views, most of which come from the 19th century. Pretty trad and pretty traditional in my religious views. But I also like the jews, which is also unpopular these days. So I don't know. I have the least popular view of all.
