morning everyone and happy Thursday morning. We have a lot of news to cover this morning. Republicans in Louisiana are pledging to cancel an ongoing election primary election that is on May 16th in an effort to redistrict their state to gerrymander out the black majority districts, the two black majority districts currently in Louisiana. It's an unprecedented move. Never before in modern history has a governor of a state canceled an election that has already begun. Ballots have already been sent out, tried to redistrict the state. It comes after the voting rights decision that the Supreme Court essentially gutted the Voting Rights Act. At the same time, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, is undermining his own DOJ's prosecution of James Comey, the former FBI director, and much more. A lot of you have reached out over the past 24 hours saying you've noticed attacks ramping up against me, saying that you don't see some of my content because other platforms take it down. And it's true, it happens. But we're not going to stop. So like Comment Share subscribe here if you can. To my substack, click the link below to support my work. This is where I am to where I'm independent and no one will ever control what I put out or how I put it out. This morning. According to the Washington Post, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has told Republican House candidates that he now plans to suspend next month's primary elections so that state lawmakers can pass new congressional maps. First, let's put this into perspective. Louisiana has a primary election on May 16 to determine who the Republican and Democratic candidates for the federal House of Representatives will be. At this point today, the election is still happening, but it's going to be suspended as soon as tomorrow. But here's the problem with that. It's not like this election is just months away and nothing started. Absentee ballots have already gone out. Early voting begins this week. The election has begun. People have already submitted ballots. Voting has already begun. Never before in modern history have we seen an election be canceled like this. And why is he doing it? Well, he's doing it in response to a Supreme Court decision yesterday that found that Louisiana had allegedly unlawfully discriminated by race when it created a second majority black congressional district. But here's the thing. Jeff Landry plans to not only call for new congressional maps that eliminate the second majority black congressional district, but they're also planning on eliminating the first one they have, too. Both majority black congressional districts in Louisiana are set to be eliminated. Now, this is something that will 100% be challenged in court. And based on what I'm hearing right now, there are already lawsuits being planned because the election is ongoing. You can't just cancel an election after it began. And many are saying that this is kind of a test run, so to speak, for what we could see later this year in states across the country. If a Republican governor doesn't like the way the maps are drawn, they'll just cancel the election until they can redraw the maps in their favor. And according to the Washington Post, who spoke with Richard Hassan, a law professor at ucla, he says that, you know, this may actually not be illegal. It's naked partisanship. But under the Supreme Court's approach to voting now, naked partisanship is more of a defense than an indictment. Now, there will be challenges under state law, and it comes as there is this massive battle of redistricting, of gerrymandering across the country. We're going to get a ruling from the Virginia Supreme Court soon on whether or not essentially the Virginia maps that Democrats passed are lawful. I expect them to be. But we're going to see. Florida Republicans in the House and the Senate passed new maps yesterday, eliminated four Democratic held seats. So we're going to have to see what happens. But it comes. It comes as newly obtained records by Democracy Forward show that officials tied to Trump's administration Doge staffers plan to share highly sensitive voter data with an outside political group challenging election results. An election denying group. The documents indicate the potential potential transfer of personal information drawn from Social Security systems, including but not limited to Social Security numbers, financial records, banking information and more. Internal communications describe a formal data sharing agreement and coordination with the group focused on finding evidence of so called Voter fraud to overturn elections. The arrangement has raised serious privacy violation concerns and possible breaches of the law, including the Hatch Act. So your Social Security information, your banking information may have been given over by a Doge staffer to an election denying group. Comes as overnight. Donald Trump is undermining his own prosecution of James Comey. James Comey, the former FBI director, as you know, is facing an indictment for posting an 8647 seashell image on his Instagram. This is what Donald Trump posted late last night. 86 is a mob term for kill him. They say 86 him. 8647 means kill president Trump. James Comey, who's a dirty cop, one of the worst, knows this full well. Eight miles out, six feet down. Didn't he also lie to the FBI about this? I think so. This will almost certainly be in a vindictive prosecution. Motion to dismiss the case by Comey's lawyers. And he said something similar in the Oval Office. Take a listen.

You were this morning, James Comey was in court. He self surrendered. He's now been charged a second time, this time over a suit. So social media post with seashells that said 8647. Do you really think that he was endangering your life or threatening your life with that?
Crime Expert
Well, if anybody knows anything about crime, they know 86. You know what 80, it's a mob term for kill him. You know, you ever see the movies 86 him. The mobster says to one of his wonderful associates, 86 of that means kill him. It's, I think of it as a mob term. I don't know. People think of it as something having to do with disappearing. But the mob uses that term to say when they want to kill somebody, they say 86 the son of a gun. I'm trying to keep the language nice and clear. They don't use that term son of a gun. They use another term. But that's a mob term.
Caitlin Johnstone
But that's actually not a mob term. When I practice criminal defense work, that's never been brought up in any case I've ever worked on. And it's not just me saying it, it's career prosecutors saying it as well.

You're someone who's prosecuted over what 100 mob family members do. Does 86 mean murder in mob parlance? Tell us.
Former Mob Prosecutor
Well Caitlin, there was a point in my life where I spent the better part of my waking hours either talking face to face with real world mobsters or listening to them talk to each other over wiretaps or body wires or bugs. I dealt with all five families, Gambino, Genovese, Bonanno, Lucchese, Colombo. I dealt with bosses under bosses, consiglieres, capos, soldiers, associates all the way down the line. Never ever, not once did I hear any real world gangster use the term 86 to refer to a murder or anything. And God knows these guys had colorful lingo but never that phrase 86. I don't know where the president this from. He said from some movie. They don't use that term in Godfather or Sopranos or Goodfellas. Maybe some way old timey movie, but that's not reality. The other piece of the interview you did Caitlin, with the President in the Oval Office that I found really interesting. When you asked that follow up, did you truly believe your life was in danger? The first thing he said was probably, I don't know. And then he sort of eventually said well I guess so, yeah, probably, I don't know right there. That's an acquittal because prosecutors have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the victim believed that his life was in jeopardy. And if the jury comes back at probably, I don't know, that's a not guilty right there. I thought that was a really important moment.

So you think that could be used if this makes it to trial?
