We have some significant developments right now. Kristi Noem, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, just got ruthlessly destroyed by Republicans on Capitol Hill. I can't say it in any other way. Republican senators during a hearing today on ice, dhs, CBP enforcement went after her. And it's pretty stunning that it doesn't appear as though she has any friends on this committee. A Republican secretary, Cabinet Secretary has been gone after for the past several hours by Republicans close to the White House. And it seems like Kristi Noem to me is in trouble. Make sure to like, comment, share and subscribe. The more you like, the more people see this. And every American needs to see these stunning moments coming out of the committee hearing right now between Kristi Noem and those Republican senators questioning her. The first Republican senator up for bat was Republican Senator Thom Tillis from North Carolina. I want you to watch this stunning moment where Tillis gives Kristi Noem what he calls a performance evaluation of her job as secretary.
Senator Thom Tillis
Disappointed with Secretary Noem because we're not going after enough people who did this damage at the expense of running numbers that Stephen Miller wants out of the White House. We just want numbers. We want a thousand a day, 6,000 a day, 9,000 a day. Because numbers matter, right? No, they don't matter. Quality matters. Not quantity.
Podcast Host
Quality.
Senator Thom Tillis
And what we've seen is a disaster under your leadership, Ms. Noem. A disaster. What we've seen is innocent people getting detained that turn out are American citizens. I could talk about the culture that's been created here with Stephen Miller aiding and abetting. I heard first reports that he was the one that said it was a domestic terrorist situation where two people lost their lives in Minneapolis. I've heard that report. Maybe you can refute it. I don't know that we'll have time for you to respond because I'm giving you a performance evaluation here. I. I'm not looking for a response.

An absolute disaster. Pretty stunning coming from a Republican senator. But really summing up what a lot of people have felt regarding what's been happening right now in the Department of Homeland Security. But that wasn't it. He went on to go and attack Kristi Noem for killing her own dog. Bringing that up in a committee hearing from A book that she wrote while she was potentially thinking about running for president or becoming Donald Trump's VP candidate, she wrote a book where she talked about putting down one of her own dogs. Watch this moment from Senator Tillis.
Senator Thom Tillis
Secretary, I read your book last week and honestly, some of the parts of it impress me, but some of it distresses me. And I'll give a good example of one that does. The passage where you talk about killing a dog that was 14 months old. I trained dogs. All right? And you are a farmer. You should know better. You should know that if you're going out to a hunting lodge and you're putting pheasants out and you're putting dogs out, you don't take a puppy out there. A 14 month old dog is basically a teenager in dog years. You decided to kill that dog because you had not invested the appropriate time in training. And then you have the audacity to go into a book and say it's a leadership lesson about tough choices. It's in your book. We could play it if we had time. At that same lunch hour. You killed a goat. And you killed the goat because you said it was behaving badly. You are a farmer. You don't castrate a goat. They behave badly. You should have probably done that before. But my point is those are bad decisions made in the heat of the moment.
Podcast Host
I mean, that is, I have no words. Watching this happen and unfold in real time where you have Republican senators attacking the Secretary of Department of Homeland Security for killing her own dog and killing a goat. But he wasn't the only Republican senator attacking Christine Noemi. It was also John Kennedy. Take a listen to this moment.
Senator John Kennedy
The President approved ahead of time you spending $220 million running TV ads across the country in which you are featured prominently.
Kristi Noem
Yes, sir, we went through the legal processes. Did it correct omb?
Senator Thom Tillis
Yes, he did.
Kristi Noem
Yes.
Senator John Kennedy
Okay.
Kristi Noem
And one thing, Senator, I think would be helpful to know is how effective that communications has been that overwhelming.
Senator John Kennedy
Your name recognition. I mean, I, I personally just. I mean, to me it puts the President in a terribly awkward spot. And, and I just, I'm not saying you're not telling the truth. It's just hard for me to believe on the.
Podcast Host
I mean, that is rough for the Secretary of Homeland Security, the person. I mean, these are people that are supposed to be friendly to her on the committee. Right. These are not supposed to be adversarial questioning from folks on her own side. It doesn't seem like she even had support from folks on her own side. There was another moment in today's committee hearing that really was stunning, and that was on the Democratic side with Senator Blumenthal and. And the Homeland Security Secretary. I want you to watch this moment between the two of them.
Senator Richard Blumenthal
For a year, you maintain that no US Citizens have been arrested or detained by ICE or cbp. After hearings that I conducted in the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation, as the ranking member, you admitted finally in a letter written to me just last month that in fact, US Citizens have been detained and arrested. I'm going to ask Mr. Chairman that that letter be entered into the record. Thank you. You put the number as 38. Far more American citizens have been arrested by ICE and cbp, probably in the hundreds, perhaps the thousands. Have you met with any of the American citizens who have been detained or arrested by your agency?
Kristi Noem
The individuals that may have been detained and arrested were individuals that could have been obstructing law enforcement operations and committing crimes that way and that we wouldn't.
Senator Richard Blumenthal
I'd like to introduce you to.
Kristi Noem
Until their identity was confirmed.
Senator Richard Blumenthal
Leo, Javier and Maramar, would you please stand? These three individuals, Madam Secretary, were arrested by your agency. Leonardo Garcia Venegas, Javier Ramirez and Maramar Martinez. Do you know what your agents did to Leo Venegas? I'll tell you. On May 21st of last year, they entered the private property at a house that he was constructing without consent, without a warrant, illegally. Again, on June 12, they entered private property, a home where he was doing construction. He is a United States citizen born in Florida. They seized him and ignored and disregarded his proof of citizenship. Wouldn't you agree with me that no US Citizen simply working lawfully should be
Kristi Noem
arrested in law enforcement operations across the country? There are times when US Citizens, it's
Senator Richard Blumenthal
a simple yes or no, may be
Kristi Noem
arrested or detained until they're indebted to agree with me.
Senator Richard Blumenthal
Should not be arrested when they are obeying the law, they have no criminal record and they are engaged in a
Kristi Noem
lawful activity, sir, in situations where law enforcement, regardless of the agency, across the country, when there is problem.
Senator Richard Blumenthal
Let me tell you about Javier Ramirez.

This episode centers on a dramatic and highly publicized congressional hearing, in which Kristi Noem, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), faces fierce criticism—not from Democrats, but from members of her own Republican party. Host Aaron Parnas breaks down the bipartisan rebukes, particularly emphasizing the unprecedented intensity with which Republican senators grilled Noem over her department's policies, personal conduct, and recent controversies. The episode weaves together key moments from the hearing, providing analysis and context for a political spectacle that exposes deep fractures within the GOP and brings Noem’s future into question.
Main Theme:
Aaron Parnas opens with astonishment at the way Republican senators, typically allies, aggressively confronted Noem during the hearing.
Senator Thom Tillis's “Performance Evaluation”:
Senator Tillis lambasts Noem for focusing on immigration enforcement numbers rather than quality and condemns her department’s handling of American citizens detained due to poor policy.
John Kennedy Questions TV Ad Spending:
Senator Kennedy confronts Noem about a $220 million TV ad campaign that prominently featured her, hinting at self-promotion at the expense of the department.
Noem’s Response:
Noem claims legal protocols were followed but struggles to defend the optics and efficacy of the campaign.
Senator Richard Blumenthal’s Interrogation:
Blumenthal presses Noem on her agency's wrongful detention of American citizens, presenting actual victims in the hearing and highlighting Noem’s initial denials and subsequent reluctant admissions.
Aaron’s Analysis:
This episode encapsulates a seismic moment in Washington, as Kristi Noem’s leadership faces withering crossfire from her political peers—especially her supposed allies. Through powerful audio extracts and incisive commentary, Aaron Parnas details how the hearing exposed bipartisan frustration with DHS, Noem’s personal decision-making, and mishandling of basic civil rights. The result: a brisk, detailed portrait of a Cabinet Secretary on the ropes, her reputation battered on national television by those she expected to stand with her.
This summary provides a comprehensive guide to the discussion for listeners and non-listeners alike, preserving the electric tone and sharp rhetoric that marked this extraordinary hearing.
