We have some big news right now. It's State of the Union Day. And on State of the Union Day, we learned something major. We learned that the Trump administration's Department of justice withheld and removed key Epstein related documents that lay out significant allegations against the President of the United States. Multiple witness interviews, multiple documents that the Department of Justice hid from the public. At the same time, the State of the Union is happening tonight and Donald Trump's approval rating is, is at its worst point that it's ever been. We're getting a preview of what the State of the Union should address and, well, as Caroline Levitt put it, he wants to talk about affordability, but whether or not affordability will be top of mind for the President. And what he says will be a very lengthy and ongoing speech that remains to be seen. Make sure to like, comment, share and subscribe. The more you like, the more people see this. Even if you don't like the news itself, subscribe to my subset. Click the link below to support my work. If you couldn't tell, I am very ill today. I woke up with a bad flu and so I'll be resting for most of the day. But I'll still be covering the State of the Union live for you tonight. Not from the State of the Union anymore, but rather on here. So you'll get it remotely from my house. Now, I do want to jump right into the major news of the Morning, which is the Justice Department, according to a new NPR investigation, has withheld some Epstein files related to allegations that President Trump sexually abused a minor. It also removed some documents from the public database where accusations against Jeffrey Epstein also mentioned Donald Trump. Some files have not been made public despite a law mandating their release. The Epstein Files Transparency Act. These files include what appears to be more than 50 pages of FBI interviews and notes from conversations with a woman who accused Trump of sexual abuse decades ago when she was a minor. NPR reviewed multiple sets of unique serial numbers appearing before and after the pages in question stamped onto documents in the Epstein Files database. FBI case records and discovery documents in the latest tranche of documents published at the end of January. And the investigation found dozens of pages that appeared to be cataloged by the Justice Department but not actually shared publicly. Now, the DOJ is refusing to answer questions as to why it withheld certain documents, why they scrubbed certain documents. But what we do know is that these documents include allegations made by children. At the time they made the allegations, they were adults, but at the time the allegations occurred, they were children against the President of the United States. Files scrubbed from public view pertain to a separate woman who was a key witness for the prosecution in the criminal trial of Ghislaine Maxwell. Some of the documents briefly were taken down and put back up online last week, while others still remain hidden. Now, this is significant because look at what the White House is saying. When asked for comment, quote, donald Trump has done more for Epstein's victims than anyone before him. Just as President Trump has said, he's been totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein. And by releasing thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the House Oversight Committee subpoena request, signing the Epstein Files Transparency act, and calling for more investigations into Epstein's Democrat friends. President Trump has done more for Epstein's victims than anyone before him. Meanwhile, Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries and Stacey Plaskett have yet to explain why they were soliciting money in meetings from Epstein after he was a convicted sex offender. Obviously, that's not true. Donald Trump has not done more for Epstein survivors than any other president before him. That's just not true. He has stonewalled the release of the files just like every other president had before him. It's not just Donald Trump. It's Republican and Democratic presidents before him. But this isn't new, right? The stonewalling has been going on for a long time. And Donald Trump would not have released the files but for the fact that Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Now, this does bring up an important moment that I want you to watch from Pam Bondi's hearing on Capitol Hill earlier this month where she refused to talk about whether anyone essentially directed the DOJ attorneys to flag documents related to President Trump. Take a listen.
Senator Pam Bondi
Gave the order to flag records related to President Trump.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt
To flag records for President Trump to
Senator Pam Bondi
flag any records which included his name.
Traveler
I'm not going to discuss anything about that with you, Senator.
Senator Pam Bondi
Eventually you're going to have to answer for your conduct in this. You won't do it today, but eventually you will. I yield, Mr. Chairman.
News Host
So Bondi refused to answer any questions related to who flagged the records. And maybe this is why, because the records that were flagged were never released to the public. Now, it comes on a critical day for the President of the United States. It's his first State of the Union address. Last year he gave a joint address to Congress. This year, it's a State of the Union address. But polling for him right now, not too good. According to new polling shows his approval rating at just 39%, some of the lowest it's ever been. 57% of Americans disapprove of the president's job as president. Among Democrats, only 6% approve. Among independents, 25% of those polled approve. And among Republicans, you have 13% disapprove. That's a high disapproval rating for an incumbent party. It should be kind of where you see what the Democratic number, the Republican number for him should be just 6% disapproved. That's what you would expect to see for a president in the White House. Now, among age groups, every single age group, whether 18 to 29 year olds or 65 and over, disapprove of his job as President of the United States. Both men and women, women by a much larger margin, both men and women disapprove. And all races disapprove of his work as President of the United States. Now, a Reuters poll shows that Donald Trump, 61% of Americans believe that Trump has become more erratic with age, including a third of Republicans. That's a large number. 30% of Republicans polled believe that Donald Trump has become more erratic with age. Now, a majority of Americans believe that Donald Trump is also not mentally sharp or able to deal with the challenges of President of the United States. Similar polling like this was conducted regarding President Biden last year, or not last year, two years ago, I guess. Now, and Republicans seized this polling in an effort to try to remove Biden from office and say that he wasn't able to conduct the duties as president. Well, you now have the same type of polling happening with the president of the United States. Now, Donald Trump, while many of those Republicans have remained silent, take a listen to what Caroline Levitt, the White House press secretary, had to say this morning about what we should expect during tonight's State of the Union address from the president.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt
Everyday Americans who are directly benefiting from his policies and making a few new policy announcements, as well as to continue tackling the affordability crisis that Joe Biden created one year ago. And the president will be talking about the positive metrics we have seen and moving forward towards making life again, again more affordable and prosperous for all Americans.
Senator Pam Bondi
So that's going to so it looks
News Host
as though they're going to be talking about affordability. That is the main message coming out of the White House ahead of the State of the Union address. But there are a lot of other issues that the American public care about. You have mounting war with Iran. The United States has more firepower right now in the Middle east since 9 11. We haven't had more since 9 11. Looks as though we might strike Iran as soon as tonight during the president's speech, potentially, he's going to talk about affordability. He's probably going to talk about the United States Supreme Court and the fact that this Supreme Court rejected his tariffs. It'll be interesting to see if any Supreme Court justices show up and if he interacts with any of the justices, because as the president walks in, you're gonna see whether or not he shakes hands with people that he appointed like Amy Coney Barrett or Neil Gorsuch, both of whom previously did show up to the State of the Union and both of whom were appointed by the president, both of whom who voted against this tariff. So a big night tonight. I'm gonna be providing you updates throughout the night. I'll watch it so that you don't have to make sure to like, comment, share and subscribe. Spread the word. And I will see you soon for another update. Stay tuned for all the news you need to know about.
