Its mission accomplished time. Or at least that's what the Trump White House is telling Congress today, that hostilities have been terminated with Iran. At the same time, Donald Trump says, well, why don't. Why do I need to ask Congress for authorization to go to war? That's simply unconstitutional. All of this is happening as the war powers deadline expires today. And that's why the Trump administration is saying, we're done, the war is over. But I beg to differ. A naval blockade is still in place, and by all accounts, a naval blockade under international law is and always will be an act of war. At the same time, you have thousands of American troops still on the ground in and around the Middle east with the possibility of striking Iran on the table literally every day. Lots to cover this afternoon. Like Comment, Share, subscribe. The more you do, the more people see this. I do want to start by talking about something that happened this week. As many of you may know, there were tons of AI fakes about me in connection with the shooter, the alleged shooter at the White House Correspondence Center. Well, I've been doing some digging and I want to hear your thoughts about this. So comment them below if you can, because right now we are in a critical moment of media and specifically media literacy. There are so many fake stories out there, fake posts, AI. The reality is it's getting harder by the day to know what's real and what's not. I get thousands of messages every day, many of you, and a huge number of them are asking the same thing. Is this real? Is the video accurate? Did this actually happen? There are oftentimes I choose not to cover something that is going viral simply because it's not accurate. And then I get pushback on it. And well, this week I saw it in Real app, real Life, and it didn't just happen to me. It happened to everyone from Barack Obama to the Pope to Taylor Swift. Everyone had similar issues this week. And on TikTok, I found out that there are videos of me speaking in Spanish, videos of me Speaking in French. I don't speak Spanish or French. Videos of me talking about news stories that never existed, the use of my likeness and voice, it is scary. And that's why this platform right here is only going to focus on news. No AI, no clickbait, none of that. You're just going to get the news from me. Subscribe, if you can, to my substack link below to support my work and expand this, because it's important in this day and age as media literacy really is dying. And it comes as the President of the United States seemingly has missed that part of literacy as well, because this is what he claims that the Constitution says about war powers.
Donald Trump
Excuse me, Mr. President's Day 60. Are you going to seek congressional authorization? No other country has ever done it. It's never been in. As you know, most people consider it totally unconstitutional. Also, we had a ceasefire, so that gives you additional time, but no other country has done it. We're in the midst of a big victory. This is a victory like we haven't had since Venezuela.
Political Commentator
Okay?
Donald Trump
To be honest with you, we haven't had. But, you know, we have a country that lost its way. It really lost its way. That's our country in terms of the military. Now,
Political Commentator
he claims that it's unconstitutional to ask for congressional authorization regarding the war in Iran because plainly, well, other countries don't require you to do so. Why is this an issue? Well, it's an issue because Today is the 60 day mark of the War Powers Act. 60 days after starting hostilities anywhere, the United States executive is required to report to Congress what the status is. And if they want to continue those hostilities, they have to get congressional approval. Well, what did the Trump administration do today? Well, they actually just minutes ago sent a letter to the speaker of the House informing Mike Johnson that in their opinion, hostilities have terminated, the war in Iran is over, mission accomplished. Now, here's the issue with that. At the same time, they're arguing that the ongoing ceasefire is a termination of hostilities. But I would argue that the presence of US Military troops alone could be considered hostilities. But what really is hostilities is the naval blockade currently in place. And it's not just me. The naval blockade is by definition an act of war that is regulated by international law, namely by the Declaration Respecting Maritime Law adopted in Paris on April 16, 1856, and Articles 1, 21 of the Declaration concerning the Laws of Naval war adopted on February 26, 1909 in London. The San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea adopted on June 12, 1994. They all make clear, all parts of international law make clear that a blockade or an embargo, that is an act of war. And so at the same time, Trump is telling Congress, we are done with this war. It's been terminated. We are actively committing an act of war in and around Iran with this naval blockade. And another reason why the Trump administration wants to get away from this is because over 60% of US adults believe it's a mistake to go to war with Iran. The fastest, fastest the public has gotten to 60% disapproval of a war in a long time, in over a century. Here's what one senator had to say about why we're in this place to begin with.

Iran war gets more unpopular. As it becomes clearer that Trump's party is going to lose in November, Trump's assaults on free speech are going to get more, more serious, more ferocious. That is what happened this last week when Jimmy Kimmel, who Trump is obsessed with, went on the air and made a joke about how old Trump was. And then immediately after the FCC announced that it was going to do a review of all of ABC's licenses all over the country, they are literally saying to abc, if you platform a critic of Donald Trump, we're going to take your licenses. We've never ever seen anything like this before for in American history. And it's just a sign of what's to come, because Trump knows he can't win an election fair and square. So he is going to try to rig the rules. And one of the primary ways you rig the rules is to try to shut down critics in the media. He's doing that by greenlighting mergers with often the explicit promise from media companies that they elevate Trump propaganda. He's doing it with abc, repeatedly trying to threaten ABC if they allow Jimmy Kimmel to lodge any criticism of Donald Trump. But here's where you come in. I mean, he's trying to silence everybody. He's trying to shut down criticism online and on the television so that you don't have access to information about what's happening in this administration to destroy our democracy. So don't be silenced. You need to stand up, make your voice heard, because ultimately, he can't win even if he silences one of his critics online. There are millions of you who are going to refuse to be silent, who are going to still show up to civic protest. You have a role to play here. Even as Trump's attacks on free speech get more significant and more serious as we get closer to the election, and

speaking about protests, here's what Donald Trump was met with at the Villages, one of the most conservative communities in Florida today, ahead of an event with seniors this evening.

This episode sharply dissects the Trump administration’s maneuvers on Iran, situates them in the context of eroding checks and balances, and spotlights the parallel crisis in media credibility. Aaron Parnas urges listeners to double down on media literacy, participate in civic protest, and resist the normalization of executive overreach and media suppression, all while providing an informed legal and journalistic perspective anchored in first-hand experience.
