Today we're getting the readout of Donald Trump's first day in China with Chinese President Xi. According to reports from on the ground, Trump appeared, quote, rattled and shaken and restrained following a two hour long meeting with President Xi in which she came in and made clear that the Taiwan issue is top of mind for Chinese authorities and that if that's not solved quickly, then he issued a stark warning to the United States saying that conflict will come. At the same time internally in the United States, there are more Republicans in the United States Senate saying no to Donald Trump's war in Iran and appears as though that movement is growing right now as more and more conservatives in Congress believe that the war in Iran is not justified. All while the war in Ukraine. For the first time since the start of the war, Ukraine has turned the tables on Russia and is actually beating Russia right now. And we'll have our next paid subscriber only live next week on Thursday night. So stay tuned for that. I want to talk about what happened this morning in China. So Donald Trump is in China right now for a critical summit with the Chinese President Xi Jinping. Following a two hour meeting where Chinese President Xi Jinping issued a very clear and stark warning to the United States, President Trump came out reportedly rattled and shaken. This is from the Chinese Foreign Ministry or the spokesperson for the Chinese government saying, quote, President Xi stressed to President Trump that the Taiwan question is the most important issue in China US Relations. If it is handled properly, the bilateral relationship will enjoy overall stability. Otherwise, the two countries will have clashes and even conflicts, putting the entire relationship in great jeopardy. Taiwan independence and cross strait peace are as irreconcilable, as free as fire and water. Safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is the biggest common denominator between China and the United States. Trump came into this meeting with the expectation, based on all reports, he really didn't even have a Chinese expert fly with him on Air Force One. Came into this meeting expecting to have a, quote, good relationship with President Xi, to show off how he is essentially a fan of President Xi's. It was clear in their communications. Take a listen to how Trump spoke about Xi during their bilateral meeting today.
Donald Trump (quoted)
You're a great leader. I say it to everybody. You're a great leader. Sometimes people don't like me saying it, but I say it anyway because it's true. I always say the truth and I

just want, you're a great leader. Some people don't like me saying it, but I only say the truth. That's how President Trump came into the meeting. In response, China's President Xi came into the meeting with a clear objective, which is to put the United States on the back foot as it relates to Taiwan. Now, I do want to talk a little bit more about whether or not China taking Taiwan is even plausible right now. And also debunking some misconceptions for you all, there was a lot of fanfare on the Internet that President Xi did not meet Donald Trump on the tarmac when Trump arrived in China. That's normal. Actually, it is Chinese diplomatic protocol that the head of state that Xi not be on the tarmac. Trump was actually greeted by the Vice President of China. That is arguably one of the highest ranking officials in China. So there is nothing to read into the fact that she didn't meet Trump on the tarmac. And a lot of people are speculating that that may be some kind of power move. It's not. Xi doesn't meet world leaders on the tarmac. That doesn't happen. Something else, I do want to talk about Taiwan briefly because right now in China, and I spoke about this yesterday on A podcast. There is a lot of internal conflict in China. It is actually going to be very hard for the Chinese military to take Taiwan today if it wanted to for a couple of reasons. Number one, there is internal conflict within the Chinese military right now over whether or not they have the ability to even capture Taiwan. Taiwan is at small island right off the coast of China, but it is a very sophisticated island, a very sophisticated nation, has very sophisticated military and weaponry. And over the past several months, Chinese President Xi Jinping has actually sacked multiple defense ministers, gave them suspended death sentences, and there have been mass purges within the Chinese military. So there is a real question over whether or not Taiwan is an easily capturable island for China or whether Taiwan turns into Ukraine. What. What Ukraine is for Russia, which as you can see right now, net territorial gains, Ukraine is actually winning. Or what Iran is to Trump, which right now Republicans are growing increasingly frustrated with Donald Trump's war in Iran. Over the past 24 hours, you had three Republican senators just vote with Democrats to stop the war. And numerous accounts saying that Republican cracks are actively growing comes after the New York Times expose showing that Trump's war has been substantially less successful than he and Pete Hegseth have claimed publicly. Republicans are also running away from Trump's bizarre tirade in which he admitted he isn't concerned about how inflation with the war is impacting ordinary Americans. All signs point to that this will get substantially worse politically for Trump and Republicans. So the question is, will Taiwan turn into Iran 2.0, Ukraine 2.0, or will it be something different? But something that was said inside the meeting created a perception from folks on the ground that Trump was visibly rattled, shaken and uncharacteristically restrained. Because this is what the two world leaders look like coming out of their two hour bilateral, standing there, appearing to

Thank you very much, Mr. President. Did you talk about Taiwan?
Political Commentator
You think that was killing him not to say something that scenario? He's trying to show some respect.
News Anchor
Just an uncharacteristically. Yeah. Uncharacteristically restrained President Trump there usually would. Would have something to say on that subject. Many others, and we've seen him be quite freewheeling in his public appearances even in the last week, going off script regularly, but really in that situation, making clear that he understands he is Xi's guest here or just not wanting to talk about it.

Right. And there is also pressure.

It's a pretty stunning moment, truly. And from folks on the ground, Trump was allegedly rattled and shaken coming out of his meeting with Xi. I think Trump expected to come in and show off this kind of relationship he thinks he has in his head with the Chinese president. A strong relationship, two strong men on the world stage. But he came into Beijing, into Xi's backyard, and Xi in a way outmatched him. Outmatched him, putting him on the back foot as it relates to Taiwan immediately. Remember, the United States in its statement publicly following the meeting did not mention Taiwan at all actually. So put Trump on the back foot as it relates to Taiwan from the get go and then kind of paraded Trump around Chinese infrastructure. Massive, massive temples, massive, massive buildings and well, it looks as though what Trump had planned isn't going to plan. And maybe, just maybe, he should have had a China expert fly with him on Air Force One. I'll have more updates for you soon, especially after night two of China US Summit tonight.
