We have some major developments right now. It looks as though we are nearing a deal regarding government shutdown funding for the Department of Homeland Security and that the Trump administration is caving on what this deal looks like. Because before Donald Trump said no negotiations with Democrats, he demanded that there be a vote to pass the SAVE act at the same time as passing funding for dhs. None of that is happening. It's actually a complete reversal, a complete 180 overnight for the white House. And comes. Donald Trump continues to attack the electoral system, continues to attack mail in ballots. But we're now learning that Donald Trump actually used a mail in ballot to vote in today's special election in Florida. All while Steve Bannon, Trump's former senior advisor, is saying that the deployment of ICE to airports is merely a test run for what they want to do in the midterm elections in 2026. It looks as though he is ready to fund the government and ready to cave on a number of key promises that he made to his own base. Take a listen.
Republican Senator
So Senator Cruz and I a few days ago came up with a two step process to, to solve both problems. Step one, we would open up everything at I, at DHS except ice, including tsa, which the Democrats have already agreed to. And then we would, we would fund ICE through reconciliation, which we could do only with Republican votes. We wouldn't need any Democratic votes. I don't speak for Senator Cruz on this part of it, but I also have suggested that we, we use the reconciliation process with only Republican votes to pass the SAVE Act. Now, Senator, we pitched this to. Senator. Thank you, Thune. A couple of days ago, he pitched it to President Trump. President Trump, as you know from his, his tweets, said no. But I talked to Senator Thune last night and he says the President has reconsidered and may be on board. I don't know. All right, that's a bit of a.

So that's a major development. That is a major shift. Now the President may be on board with the plan that would Fund tsa, fema, Coast Guard, all parts of DHS except, except ice. And now, according to Jake Sherman from Punchbowl News, for the first time in more than a month, there is now optimism that the Senate and the White House can finally find a path forward to reopening the Department of Homeland Security. This framework, which is currently still under discussion, it's going to change, would fund all of DHS except for ICE's Migrant Removal Operations and, and could eventually include some reforms that Democrats have been demanding. The Republicans would then try to fund the rest of ICE through a party line reconciliation bill. Republicans will also try to pass elements of the Save America act through reconciliation. So the full SAVE act is not going to pass on its own. It's going to have to pass the reconciliation. But it's unclear what. They definitely don't have the votes to pass the SAVE act as is to reconciliation, but they may be able to pass parts of it through reconciliation. Democrats are not going to be fully happy because some of the more than dozen demands that they put forth to reform ICE have gone unfulfilled and the funding removes some of their leverage. And it will, according to Jake Sherman, be especially acute in the House. Remember, this still has to pass. The Senate still has to pass the House. We don't even have a final, final deal just yet. But it is a major reversal from where we were just 24 hours ago. And Democrats believe that they could get some wins out of this, including money for body cameras and enhanced ID identification for ICE agents. But, but the biggest implication here is that the SAVE act is not going to pass as is the SAVE act is not going to be included in any government funding. And there's going to be a major reconciliation package. Once again. The first reconciliation package happened last year. That was the big, beautiful budget bill that funded a large chunk of ICE at the beginning. And it looks like they're about to do it again. And it comes as Americans have become super frustrated, super frustrated with what's going on right now at airports across the country. And they're placing the blame on the White House, on Republicans in Congress, to Congress or President Trump. What would you tell them right now?
Republican Senator
My true reaction is stop the run the country and make everybody a part of it.
Steve Bannon
It seems unnecessary. Unrelated. Also kind of seems like he's trying to push an agenda through, you know, a place where people are just trying to get from point A to point B.

Just for the record, if anyone doesn't know that's Marine Terminal LaGuardia, it's not the regular terminal which gets completely clogged with. So that's where Americans are at. They're like, fund this government. Let's get it together. Let's stop. Stop with the bs. And it comes as Donald Trump, now we're learning, actually voted using vote by mail, which is significant for a number of reasons, but primarily because he has attacked vote by mail for a long, long time. According to the Associated Press, President Donald Trump has cast another mail ballot in Florida as he continues to publicly bash the voting method as a source of fraud and push Congress to curtail the practice. New voter records from Palm beach county show that the president voted by mail in today's special election for state legislative seats and that his ballot has been counted. The White House did not immediately return an Associated Press request for comment, and aides have said that Trump's ire is directed at states using universal mail in voting, not individual voters who may not be able to get to a voting place. Nonetheless, Trump has in last week called mail in voting cheating and corrupt as hell, and he is urging Congress to pass the SAVE Act. He is also deploying ICE agents at TSA and may soon deploy them at polling locations this November.
Steve Bannon
I want the mainstream media's head to blow up today. We can use what's happening with these ICE helping out at the airports. We can use this as a test drive, as a test case to get to really perfect ICE's involvement in the 20, 20, 26 midterm elections.
Independent News Host
Sir?
Steve Bannon
Yeah, I think we should have ICE agents at the polling places because if you're an illegal alien, you can't vote, right? It's against the law. It's a federal crime for you to vote in federal elections. And so if you're an American citizen, you should be happy that ICE is there, because you're not going to have illegal aliens canceling out your vote.
Independent News Host
I mean, they're saying it out loud for you, so just be aware. I mean, the White House hasn't ruled it out. DHS hasn't ruled it out. I could totally see a scenario where we eventually have ICE agents deployed to the polls. As always, like comment, share and subscribe. Subscribe to my substack.
