we have breaking news at this hour. The United States has begun strikes on Iran again, targeting multiple Iranian ports along the Strait of Hormuz. Now, U.S. officials tell Barack Ravid and Axios that this is not a restarting of the war. But I'm not sure what you call bombing Iranian ports and other territory other than restarting the war. It also comes as we're learning that the Trump administration cut critical scientific research funding for a program designed to study Hantavirus, specifically the virus strain, the Andes virus strain that jumped from human to human. The one at issue now, they cut this last year and we're just now learning about it. Same time Tennessee Republicans passed a new map that would eliminate the black majority district in Tennessee and a hell of a lot more. I have all the news right now for you. Make sure to like Comment, Share subscribe if you can subscribe to my substack, click the link below to support my work. Something important that we're going to talk about is the way the media just adopts everything the president says or the White House says just because they say it. And and what we're seeing with the strikes in Iran is no different because this is what Barack Ravi just put out moments ago saying the United States conducted strikes on Thursday on Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz area. US Official says the strikes do not constitute a resumption of the war with Iran. I'm not sure what that means because to me, bombing Iran means the resumption of hostilities, the resumption of the war in Iran. But then again, I would argue that the war never actually ended because the use of a naval blockade is an act of war. And as a result, the war would have continued this entire time. Now ask yourselves why the United States is telling someone like Barack Ravid to report that it does not constitute a resumption of the war. Well, the reason why is because if it constitutes a resumption of the war, what that would end up meaning is that Trump would have to go to Congress and would have to get approval to conduct these strikes or to continue under the War Powers Resolution. You can't just say, oh, look, the war is over, we're going to continue bombing. And yet that is what they're trying to say. Jennifer Griffin from Fox News provided some more color on the strikes, saying A senior US Official says the US Military strikes on Iran's Kesham port and Bandar Abbas moments ago, but added it's not a restarting of the war or an end to the ceasefire. A strike on one of Iran's oil ports comes two days after Iran fired 15 ballistic and cruise missiles at the Fujiwara port, eliciting anger from Gulf countries after top Pentagon leaders said Tuesday that the Iranian strikes did not rise to the level of breaking the ceasefire, calling it low level attacks that didn't rise to that level. Trump abruptly called off Project Freedom to open up the Strait of Hormuz and guide ships through the strait. And now a senior US Official confirms to the Wall Street Journal that Saudis and Kuwaitis abruptly halted permission for the United States to use its air base as an airspace for Project Freedom, a decision that's now been reversed. So all these reporters are just reporting exactly what the president and those senior White House officials are telling them that, hey, this is not a resumption of the war. This is not a resumption of hostilities. And they're doing that because they don't want to have to go to Congress. And yet the truth is this is a resumption of hostilities. According to Iranian State tv, three American destroyers were attacked by Iranian navy near the Strait of Hormuz. They say that the destroyers were then fleeing towards the Sea of Oman. In addition, Iran recently attacked American missile destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz area while they were making their way out of the strait. The Iranian attack came in response to the fact that a few hours earlier US Military forces attacked Iranian tankers as part of enforcing their blockade on Hormuz. All of this especially the United States strikes, by the way they come after, mind you, the market closes, the market won't be impacted until tomorrow. And I guarantee you between now and the morning we're going to get Something from the president or something from the administration or something from Barack Ravine and Axios saying actually we're actually close to a deal, so don't worry about it. But what will happen is gas prices are going to rise. And if you listen to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, it doesn't seem like it's a bit of an issue, a very different world.

And I just don't think about other presidents who have been willing to see the threat and address the threat of Iran. And so I think opens up, you're going to see prices come down immediately. You saw yesterday energy prices came down below $100 a barrel. I think we had 93 this morning. I don't quote me on that, but I was looking at it was like 90 to 93 for Brent crude. So we're in a good place.
Jerry Insurance Narrator
We see the price of crude going down significantly recently. But when could we see that at the especially now we're getting into that summer blend gasoline. 90% of Americans take road trips for their summer vacation.
Energy Market Analyst
Well, first of all, we want to encourage all Americans to take a road trip. Whether you're going to go two hours or two days to see your country, everyone should come to Philadelphia. By the way, this is, this is where it all started. Great history here. So if you think about a summer road trip, come to Philadelphia. But it's interesting the way gas stations work when, when prices go up per barrel, you see that the next day the price of the pump goes. And as prices go down, it takes a little bit longer to ricochet through lower prices at the pump. That's the way they operate. But again, we have a lag time of probably a week to 10 days when we see a price per barrel go down to see if prices reflected in the pumps across the country.

Are you in touch with oil? At the same time, we're learning new information from the Scientific American Journal that the United States actually cut a pilot program that was designed to study the hantavirus, specifically the strain that's at issue now. The pilot program was designed to better understand how hantavirus passes from rodents to humans and was being conducted through the West African center for Emerging Infectious Diseases, one of the 10 centers that compromises Centers for Research and Emerging Infectious diseases network. All 10 centers were shuttered last year after the National Institutes of Health cited the research was unsafe. This primarily studied diseases in Senegal, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. And many of these illnesses were borne by rodents. Quote, we found out there was a group in Argentina that wanted to similar kinds of things that we're doing in West Africa. We supported them to put in an application for a pilot award and they did that and they were reviewed. They were successful in getting funded. But then Trump administration decided that the research was actually not safe. So that's where we're at right now. And it comes actually I'm getting on my phone right now an update I'm going to read you Iran's response to the US Strikes today. The aggressive terrorists and pirate US military violated the ceasefire by targeting an Iranian oil tanker traveling from Iran's coastal waters near Jask towards the Strait of Hormuz, as well as another vessel entering the Strait of Hormuz near the Emirati port of Fujiyara. At the same time, with the cooperation of some regional countries, they carried out air attacks on civilian areas across the coast of Bandar, Khmer and Kesham Island. The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran immediately responded by attacking US Military vessels east of the Strait of Hormuz and south of the port of Khabahar, reportedly inflicting significant damage on them. So that's a statement from Iran that doesn't sound like the war is ending or not. A resumption of hostilities that actually sounds exactly what it is that they're firing at each other again. So we'll see what happens next. I'm going to have updates throughout the night, probably for you all.
