We have some major Iran war developments today. The United States underestimated Iran's willingness to close the Strait of Hormuz and plunge the world into a gas and oil crisis. In addition, Pete Hexseth is saying that he can't wait for CNN to go under the control of David Ellison to fundamentally change media as we know it. Why? Because he's upset with the coverage of the war. Despite that, at the same time, U.S. central Command has announced that four more service members have been killed in the war after a refueling tanker crashed in Iraq. In addition, Trump is fundraising off of the war, all while sanctions on Russia have been lifted in an effort to bring more fuel into the world economy. Make sure to like, comment, share and subscribe. If CNN falls under the Ellison's control, I'll still be here independent because of you, so subscribe to my substack. Click the link below to support my work. Let's begin by talking about how the Pentagon severely underestimated Iran. According to cnn, the Pentagon and National Security Council significantly underestimated Iran's willingness to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to US Military strikes. While planning the ongoing operation, Donald Trump's national security team failed to fully account for the potential consequences of what some officials have described as a worst case scenario now facing the administration. Key officials from Energy and Treasury were present for some of the official planning meetings about the operation before it began. The agency analysis and forecast that would be integral elements of the decision making process in past administrations were, were secondary considerations Now. Scott Besant, the Treasury Secretary, Chris Wright, the Energy secretary, they have been key players throughout the planning and execution stages of the war. But Trump's preference of leaning on a tight circles of close advisors in his national security decision making had the effect of sidelining interagency debate over the potential economic fallout if Iran were to respond by closing the Strait. And now it may be weeks before, before the administration's efforts to alleviate the intensifying economic fallout take hold. Yes, we're releasing more petroleum from the strategic reserves. Yes, the International Energy Agency is releasing hundreds of millions of barrels of oil. But that takes time. And gas prices aren't just going to fall overnight. Quote, planning around preventing this exact scenario, impossible as it has long seemed, has been a bedrock Principle of U.S. national security policy for decades. According to a former official who served in Republican and Democratic administrations, Quote, I'm dumbfounded. Shipping industry executives have made regular requests to the United States Navy for military escorts, all of which have been rebuffed. As it currently stands, oil is passing through the Strait of Hormuz, just going to China and Russia and other adversaries where Iran is allowing this to move. Oil is not coming to the West. At the same time this morning, Pete Hecseth is attacking the press, saying for the first time the quiet part out loud. He cannot wait until David Ellison takes over cnn.

Yet some in this crew in the press just can't stop. Allow me to make a few suggestions. People look up at the TV and they see banners, they see headlines. I used to be in that business and I know that everything is written intentionally. For example, a banner or a headline, mideast War intensifies. Splashing on the screen the last couple of days alongside visuals of civilian or energy targets that Iran has hit, because that's what they do. What should the banner read instead? How about Iran? Increasingly desperate. Because they are. They know it and so do you. If it can be admitted. Or more fake news from CNN reports that the Trump administration underestimated the Iran war's impact on the Strait of Hormuz. Patently ridiculous, of course. For decades, Iran has threatened shipping in The Strait of Hormuz. This is always what they do. Hold the strait hostage. CNN doesn't think we thought of that. It's a fundamentally unserious report. The sooner David Ellison takes over that network, the better. Another example of a fake headline that I saw yesterday. War widening. Here's a real headline for you for an actual patriotic press. How about Iran shrinking, going underground? You see, Iran's leaders are hiding in bunkers and moving into civilian areas. The only thing that is widening is our advantage.
News Commentator
That's what Hegseth claims, but the truth is it's not necessarily true. He claims that Iranian leadership is hiding. It's in these underground bunkers. Yes. Iran's supreme leader, the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, may not have been in the public. He may actually have been injured severely. But this is Iran's leadership today marching in the streets. That's Ali La Rajani, one of the senior national security officials in Iran. You had the Foreign Minister marching. You had other senior Iranian officials seemingly unfraid of airstrikes right now. And despite this, that Pete Hexseth is claiming otherwise.
Political Analyst
Leadership is in no better shape. Desperate and hiding. They've gone underground. Cowering. That's what rats do. We know the new so called, not so supreme Leader is wounded and likely disfigured. He put out a statement yesterday, a weak one actually. But there was no voice and there was no video. It was a rat written statement. He called for unity. Apparently killing tens of thousands of protesters is his kind of unity. Iran has plenty of cameras and plenty of voice recorders. Why a written statement? I think you know why. His father dead. He's scared, he's injured, he's on the run and he lacks legitimacy. It's a mess for them. Who's in charge? Iran may not even know with every passing hour. We know and we know they know that the military capabilities of their evil regime are crumbling.

But the Iranian people seem to be very different. And it comes, as we learned, four confirmed service members have died in devastating, devastating news. We now have confirmation that according to U.S. central Command, four confirmed decease after a fueling refueling aircraft tanker, the U.S. kC 135 went down over western Iraq. At the same time, Donald Trump is issuing a threat to Iranian leadership today, saying that we are totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically and otherwise. Yet if you read the failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning. Iran's navy is gone. Their air force is no longer missiles, drones and everything else are being decimated and their leaders are being wiped from the face of the earth. You have unparalleled firepower, unlimited ammunition and plenty of time. Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today. They've been killing people all over the world for 47 years and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do so. Thank you for your attention to this matter. So we'll see what happens next. Obviously my deepest thoughts prayers are with the family members of the service members who have died or who have been injured in this conflict and more will likely occur. It is devastating. American lives are on the line and we're not getting a full picture from the White House. Like Comment Share and subscribe Update soon
