Good morning everyone. A major start to a major week as Congress is finally back in session. They have less than 25 days left in their legislative calendar. They work less than we do between now and November's midterm elections. And it's a significant morning because you're going to have hearings on Capitol Hill regarding Todd Blanche, the Acting Attorney General's confirmation hearing, Epstein related. You're going to have hearings on the Save America act and possible reconciliation packages they're going to try to pass. And you're going to have hearings on the Supreme Court with Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Justice Elena Kagan testifying on Capitol Hill today at the same or this week at the same time. You're also going to see major consternation within the Republican caucus as they can't really get anything done right now for following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham and the arguable incapacitation of Mitch McConnell who is not in the Senate. He will not be coming back this week despite his proof of life image that we saw yesterday. Now this morning we had another ICE involved shooting in the United States of America in Maine and one person is dead. Details are scant and I'm trying to find more information out in real time. In addition, the United States and Iran continue to ramp up their war and Trump now says, well, we're just going to take over the Strait of Hormuz. We're going to own and operate it. The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled two days of confirmation hearings for Acting Attorney General Todd Blanch, though it remains unclear whether the death of Lindsey Graham, who was a key member of the United States Senate, key member of the United States Senate, and a key member of the committee, will affect the process. Meanwhile, the Intelligence Committee has announced that the confirmation process for Jay Clayton is back on track to be the Director of National Intelligence. Republicans in both the House and the Senate right now are divided over Trump's push for the Save America act, which would restrict mail in voting and impose new nationwide election rules. The House of Representatives previously passed a measure along party lines. It has no viable path through the Senate because of a unified Democratic opposition and even resistance from some Republicans. They're going to try to pass it through a process called reconciliation. Right now they only need they need 60 votes to pass any SAVE act related issues. If they go through reconciliation, which is a budgetary move, they'll only need 50 votes. I don't think they have 50 votes. I don't think they can also do this through reconciliation given the fact that the SAVE act and election related issues are not election are not budgetary related issues. So we're ultimately going to have to see what they decide and whether it moves forward. And then the final thing is Amy Coney Barrett, Elena Kagan the two Supreme Court justices are scheduled to testify in front of Congress this week as the Federal Judiciary is seeking $9.7 billion in federal funding, including a significant increase in judicial security following a rise in threats against judges. Monday morning. John, with the Maine Wire. About quarter of nine. I'm in Biddeford. They've got the streets shut off here. Federal investigators are on scene. It's an active crime scene here in, on Poole street here in Biddeford. Not a lot of reports yet. They're asking the press to assemble at the local school and updates are coming. But it's an active crime scene. They've got the streets all shut off. Saco police are on scene helping direct traffic. Biddeford has this down, but I can confirm that federal agents are on scene and part of this active investigation. Check back with the main wire for more updates.

I'm John Featherston and it comes as the House speaker of Maine, Ryan Fecto says fellow Biddeford residents and Mainers this morning a shooting occurred in Biddeford. A person was killed. ICE was involved. State police and the Department of Public Safety are now on the scene to gather details and would expect the FBI to investigate as well. As these are the details that I have at this time, I will provide further updates as they are relate to me. Obviously, a very serious situation. We have ICE involved shootings far too often in the United States of America. We don't have the details here. The details are very scant right now and so we're going to have to have more information. But I wanted you to make sure and be the first to know that there was yet another ICE involved shooting in the United States of America, this time in Biddeford, Maine. And when we talk about the week ahead and what's happening with Iran this morning Trump made the statement and the claim that the Iranians are just going to essentially have to give us, give us regarding the United States, give the United States the Strait of Hormuz, that the United States is just going to take it over. We hit him very hard last night. Every time they send a drone, we hit them very hard. But we had a deal. What? Nobody knows we had a deal. It was a done deal. And then they broke it. They always break it. We've had 10 deals with these people and so we're just going to hit them very hard and we're going to, we're going to keep the strait and we'll probably Run it. We'll become the guardian of the Strait. Maybe we'll call it the Guardian angel of the Strait. And we should be reimbursed for that. When we do that, we're going to be reimbursed because the other nations are very wealthy. They're on our side, and we can't be expected to do that for nothing, unlike we had for many years. You know, if we. We guarded the Strait for 50 years more, and we never got paid for it. They made all the money and the United States was just, you know, not. They wouldn't. It's amazing. It's. We never made. We guarded it for nothing, and now we're going to guard it and we're going to get paid for guarding it. A lot of money. But we just want to be reimbursed for doing all of this, for putting our people in danger. But we're really not putting people. We're really saving people.

The guardian of the strait, that's what he says the United States is going to be. Iran obviously has different plans for the Strait of Hormuz. Now, Trump this morning, who is very. He is very obsessed with President Obama. We know that he caught himself before making a racist remark, but his intention was very clear. Take a listen.

For 47 years, it had been tapping people along. Presidents, every president got tapped along, didn't do anything, and they became more and more powerful. This should have been done 47 years ago, shouldn't have been allowed to start. But Clinton let him go and Bush let him go. Everybody let him go. And Obama was the worst of all because Obama actually went to their side. Obama, because, you know, he's. Well, let's not say. Let's not say. Let's leave that for another time. He was terrible. And he allowed them. He allowed Iran to. He gave them 1.7 billion in cash, in green cash, put in satchels in an airplane and brought to Tehran. $1.7 billion. Do you know what that is? Did you ever see. Did you ever see a million dollars in cash? This is 1.7 billion. It took up an entire 7 Boeing 757, and they flew it to Tehran and they gave it to people that were waiting at a plane. Can you imagine?

Most of that is not true. But alas, that is what the President of the United States is saying this morning. And so it's going to be a very interesting week, whether it's on Iran, whether it's on ice, especially given another ice involved shooting in the United States of America, or just generally whether or not Congress can function. That is, the big question is whether or not Congress can really function right now, given the fact that you don't have Mitch McConnell there, you don't have Lindsey Graham there.
