crises right now across the globe for the President of the United States and the United States of America. Talks between the United States and Iran have been postponed indefinitely in Geneva, Switzerland after bombing of Lebanon by Israel has continued today. At the same time, Iran for at least a small period of time today shut down the Strait of Hormuz, although the final status of the strait is not fully clear at this hour. And it comes as a diplomatic crisis between Italy and the United States has erupted after Trump suggested that Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni said that she begged Trump for a picture while in response, Meloni says, that is complete nonsense. It is completely non true and as a result, meetings between the Italians in the United States here in Miami have been canceled. At the same time. Through all of this, Republicans continue to ask Trump, what are you doing? And Trump says, well, I'm the President and you're not. That is his favorite catchphrase to use right now. He is declaring that he's the President no one else is and everyone essentially has to bow at the altar. We'll see if it works. Like comment share and if you can subscribe to my substack link below to support my work. We have a big milestone here at the Partners Perspective. We hired our first full time employee starting on Monday and I'm so excited to grow this newsroom to grow independent media. And we're doing it because of you. Not big corporations, not billionaires. None of that. I've rejected all of that only because of you. So if you can't subscribe today to help me keep building, here's what southern Lebanon looks like this morning. Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon have tested and postponed the talks between the United States and Iran in Switzerland. Israel says that these strikes are necessary in response to Hezbollah strikes on Israel. Lebanon says that this is a complete, complete betrayal of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran because Lebanon is clear that it is part of the ceasefire. And as a result, where we are is that negotiations between the United States and Iran in Geneva have been postponed since essentially indefinitely. Right now, the world is erupting. US Peace talks scheduled for today in Switzerland were abruptly postponed after Iran demanded guarantees that Israeli military operations in Lebanon would stop. The delay came as Israel launched a new wave of strikes in southern Lebanon, killing at least 18 people, while four Israeli soldiers were killed in clashes with Hezbollah. Vice President Vance canceled his trip to Switzerland as diplomats worked behind the scenes to try to keep negotiations on track. The talks were intended to begin a 60 day process aimed at reaching a permanent end to the ceasefire or to the conflict that began earlier this year. Officials say the postponement is temporary and Vance is publicly defending the agreement. But we will have to see. And it comes as all hell has literally broken loose between the United States and Italy. Giorgia Meloni is going after Trump today because Trump told an Italian news outlet that apparently, quote, Meloni begged to have a picture with him at the G7, that he felt sorry for the Italian Prime Minister, who, by the way, is a right wing prime minister. Meloni, in response, says, I am shocked by Trump's utterly fabricated words. I am sorry he doesn't show the same determination against the enemies of the West. And bear in mind me and Italy never beg. Here is her response to Trump. It is in Italian, so if you know Italian, take a listen. What she is essentially doing is calling out the President of the United States directly. It is historic for a world leader, a world leader of an American ally to take to social media like this and call out the American president directly because of exactly what he did. He said, she begged for a picture. She says that's absolute bs. And as a result, here's what Italy's foreign minister and deputy prime minister says today. The serious and offensive words of President Trump towards Prime Minister Meloni offended all of Italy. For this reason, he has decided to cancel his visit to the United states, scheduled for June 21st and 22nd. Now Trump, for his part, says, I'm the President and you're not. He has delivered the same retort to political allies and anyone across the globe. Who try to offer him any advice, saying, I'm the president, you're not. Essentially I can do whatever I want. You can't tell me what to do. He is dismissing all counsel of aides, conservative lawmakers, associates, trusting only his gut instincts. And this is where we are today because he is saying, I'm president, you're not. And well, this morning the president woke up and went after Iran again, or rather went after critics of his deal with Iran saying the war has diminished Iran. It doesn't any longer have an air force, a navy, anti aircraft equipment or practically anything else. And yet the Democrats say that Iran is better off today than it was four months ago. Can you imagine getting away with that? He says, how stupid can some people be? He says, we didn't meet out of desperation. Iran did. He says, they are finished. We'll play out the 60 cents they get no money. The 60 days they get no money. Not 10 cents. When asked what he's learned from this war, take a listen.
D
What have you learned about not just the exercise of power but the limits on your power as a result of the conflict?
E
There are no limits.
D
No limits.
E
No, not. I haven't learned that lesson yet. I know there are, but you know, there are no limits. We defeated them totally militarily. We have the most powerful military in the world by far. Who else could have done a blockade like that? I did a naval blockade where not one ship was able to get through. Some tried, they didn't. You know, it didn't last very long.
D
And it certainly brought Iran to the table more than before. However, beginning of conflict you had talked about, you only wanted unconditional surrender. And the MOU doesn't look like unconditional surrender.
E
Well, it really probably is unconditional surrender.
D
It is.
C
He learned he has no limits to his power. Now he is being attacked today a little bit because of this moment. This is him putting on a medal of Honor on a US Service member in the White House. These medals are really easy to put on by the way. They have two buttons on the back. He's done this multiple times before. President Biden never had an issue doing this in his four years. But as you can see here, he had extreme struggles. And the reason why he's getting blowback for this moment is because if Joe Biden was the president and did this, just imagine the response from folks at Fox News. Imagine the response. Sorry about that. My daughter started crying and I have her this morning while my wife takes an hour break. So life of a dad, right? But Anyways, Trump was being ridiculed because he couldn't put on the Medal of Honor. He's literally being forced to tie it right now in the back, and it was just a mess in the White House yesterday. So that's all the news right now. I mean, there'll be a lot of news throughout the day as we see whether or not Trump's Iran deal survives or not. Right now, it doesn't look like it.
