A.J. Hawk
Welcome to the Pat McAfee Show. Feel good. Friday, November 15th. I'm A.J. hawk, sitting in for Pat at his desk here in Indianapolis. Pat's down there in beautiful Athens, Georgia, football. It's what's on our mind. Pat, obviously. I love that you have a hat already. I know you need it. You get a little red sometimes. I know I get more than red when I get in situations like that. How you doing, man?
Pat McAfee
I'll tell you what, I'm down here at Sanford Stadium, okay? Down in beautiful Athens. In the way this particular place is set up is, you know, Athens, the city up on a hill over here, and then the campus is up on another hill. We're down the hall right here, okay? And we happen to be in a hotbed of sun. My man, Colby De Caesar Paizon, who's a facilities manager for the Georgia Athletic Department down here, brought me a hat immediately upon walking out here and said, listen, with that face you have, I think we should at least try to protect you from the sun because we have a beautiful day in Athens, Georgia, right now. Now, this stadium was built in 1929, and tomorrow in this stadium, a game that is maybe the most vital game in Georgia school in some time now, obviously losing Alabama at the SEC championship last year, I don't think anybody thought they were going to get eliminated from the 14 playoff, okay? I don't think anybody thought you have one loss in 30 games and you have back to back national champs, and you lose one game to Alabama, you get knocked out of the College Football Playoff. But now, with the hardest schedule in all of college ball, their only losses being to top five teams, top six teams, if they lose to Tennessee on this field, 12 team playoff is going to be without the Georgia Bulldogs. Could you fathom that? I don't think anybody could fathom that. Number one coming into the year, then it could potentially be out of the entire thing. So whenever you talk about in between the hedges down here, and I'll tell you what, these hedges are perfectly trimmed. I'm talking about being groomed to perfection by whoever has the saws around here. The Clippers around here need to be paid more because how beautiful this place. But on it's right here. And I leaned on a cough, but that's why my voice cut out, and I thought it was over on this grass right here. There's. There's high stakes tomorrow against this Tennessee football team, who has a great defense and can pound the rock. And Georgia has had massive wins over a couple highly ranked teams. But Obviously, they've had a few losses. One of them last week against Ole Miss. 2810. This is a elimination game for the Georgia Bulldogs, and they're favored by 10, and it's going to be electrifying down here. I have no idea how these Bulldogs fans are going to treat me. You know, I'm not a.
A.J. Hawk
They'll be good.
Pat McAfee
Ah, dude, I'm telling you, that SEC championship thing, I watched it back. It was pretty disrespectful. But awesome. It was awesome. Yeah. It was an accurate prediction of who was going to win. And it was a buildup of, you know, a lot of different things. And I remember last time I was in this town, a couple older white ladies tried to kick me out of a restaurant. They told me I wasn't worthy of eating here or wearing this G that's on my forehead or Georgia on my body at all. I had not earned it, so I don't know how it's going to go. I'm excited to feel it, and it's a big one across the board. Now, college football, there's a lot of games where it's like, don't be losing to these teams that are crop and ruining, you know, everything you have going forward. We're in crunch time right now for a lot of these teams, and, you know, football is cooking right now, AJ and so am I in this Georgia sun. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Take care of yourself, man. I think Kirby Smart will be joining you there at that podium on the field here in the neck. 30 minutes or so, I think around 12:10, we'll have Nick Sirianni joining the program. Nick Saban in the second hour, I believe. Dana White early in the third hour. As you lather up, man, you better get a couple bottles for this show.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, that's what I got, Colby. And then I got. Boom, another one here if we need to go.
Connor
Tell you what, you knocked after any of that. That's impressive.
Pat McAfee
Well, I kept my mouth closed, but I just sprayed my sung. I mean, I couldn't see anything. It was like I went through a car wash right there and just had the foam on it. But I'm gonna have to continue to lather. A.J. you're one of the greatest sunscreen latherers I've ever been around. We're talking every 20, 30 minutes. I'm gonna need you to remind me if I start. And it's not good that I'm standing right above this, too. Sure. And then right behind me is red, and then my natural color is kind of red, too. Because I'm an Irishman. So it's like, you know, I think we're gonna turn into a tomato today, but let's try to do some battle against the Burns because we got a long weekend, A.J. we got a long weekend out here.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, yeah, Long, great weekend, actually. I mean, great football happened last night in the NFL, Pat. I don't know how much you got to see of it. I assume you saw all of it. But yes, the Philadelphia Eagles take on the and it was a close KG match for a while, but ultimately Philly pulls away and gets the victory. What's your thoughts here? I know Sirianno will be on with us in a little bit to talk about it, but what are your feelings about the Eagles and obviously the commanders.
Pat McAfee
You know that Derrick Henry vibe in years past where it's like, first quarter, second quarter, okay, okay, okay. But then in the second half, he's going to kill you. It felt like that was Saquon last night. It felt as if the commander's defense was getting a little bit worn down. It felt like Saquon was going to pop off at any moment. And then he goes bananas. Then he goes absolutely crazy. The stats coming out. He's like the first player to have two 20 plus yard rushing touchdowns in the same game this season. Obviously, he's explosive, he's electrifying. He feels like he is a leader of this team already, obviously. And he somehow was the topic of a discussion on whether or not you pay him $13 million. And it's like, we're going to talk to Sirianni here in a matter of moments. And I assume if you ask any of the johns in Philadelphia, it's like that's the best 13 million bucks they've ever spent on their team. And it's like he's a tone changer, He's a game changer. And I think Jalen hurts the way he's operating with Saquon and obviously Devonte and AJ Being able to do what they do. And then Goddard and then the backup tight end who hops on that fumble. It's like this team is loaded, the defense obviously ready to go. They're 8 and 2. You would never know that because of how their team is talked about. More specifically, the guy that's going to be joining here in a matter of moments, head coach this team. But it's like I am a believer in this Philadelphia Eagles team, have been since the beginning of the year. But watching Saquon continue to kind of become, you know, everything that we Saw the flashes of with the Giants, but never in the big moments, you know, because the Giants weren't able to get to the big games. It's like Saquon seizing the opportunity, understanding what he can do, and then Kellen Moore and Nick Sirianni understanding him too. It's like this is an electrifying football team and they win in a fashion that can travel and can win long term. So the NFC obviously feels like there's a few horses that are pulling away from everybody. And I think first take and get up, we're talking about, is it the Lions, is it the Eagles? Okay, we're just giving up on the Niners, I guess. But like there's teams at the top of the nfc, they can all run the ball, they can all play good defense. Jake Elliott, I think he's hurt. I think there is anytime you miss the kicks the same exact way. Same exact way. Feels like that's a swing thing. And if he's pulling it, I would think there's something happening maybe in here. Personally, he has not told me that. I did send a message and ask him if that's happening, but it feels like there has to be a little tweak or something because he's either short legging it or getting through it too quick. And that's not Jake Elliott. Now they end up getting a win, which is much better than the alternative. But if they lose that game, it's going to get real loud for Jake Elliott. So I hope whatever Jake's going through right now, whether it is a tweak, which again I do not know, we'll ask Coach Giriani. I don't know what all will be talked about, but like that's abnormal. Just like Jared Goff throw on five picks abnormal. Let's move along. But their team is stacked and I, I love the way they play football. AJ yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Watching Saquon like it, it makes me feel good as a football fan because we know how like the running back position has been devalued over time. And I know Derrick Henry obviously is a guy keeping it alive, but watching Saquon and what he can do like that, 28 touches, 198 yards, two touchdowns last night and they had to pay him. What was it again, Pat? How much they pay him?
Pat McAfee
13 million, I think is all the discussion. And remember, we know this all because the hard knocks that just told us literally everything the Giants went through this off season. And it was. I don't know if any other team will ever sign up for that, but I know one team that's very thankful for how it all went, and that's the team in Philadelphia. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a man who has led the Eagles to an 8 and 2 start or better for three consecutive seasons, which obviously has never happened in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles. They get a massive prime time win against a division rival when a team that was supposed to be hot supposed to go on and win it all. I assume the conversation around him is that he's a super genius, because that's what he is. Ladies and gentlemen, paisan extraordinaire, head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Nick Sirianni. Nick. Coach, how we feeling this morning? Coach, we feeling pretty good.
Nick Sirianni
Hey, guys, thanks for having me on.
Pat McAfee
Hey, Coach, how do we feel about the team? I just gave that stat about 8 and 2 or better. Obviously, your. Your teams have been dominant early. You've had a lot of success over there. How do you feel about this particular team and everything we're saying about Saquon? Is it true, like, he just completely changes your team immediately upon arrival?
Nick Sirianni
Man, start, start with the team. This is a group of guys that just, you know, love coming to work every single day, love fighting for each other. I mean, just saw guys pouring it out there for each other, and I just feel like we're gelling together day by day, you know, getting better as a team. Saquon Barkley, man, you guys see it. He is a special, special talent. You know, what's not known about him quite as much is how good of a teammate he is, how hard of a worker he is. Man, he's a. He's a special player, special teammate, special dude. We're so. We're so thankful that he's on this football team. He's helping us win games.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I think Jalen talked about it afterwards, about how, like, he's coming and been a leader for that team, too. Obviously, he's one of. One of the best players in the NFL, so you're going to be kind of expected to be a leader. But can you talk to me about the culture that you guys have in that locker room where Saquon can come in? Not only is he welcomed, he's appreciated. And how do you feel about the culture that you've built over there?
Nick Sirianni
I think anytime you get a player to his caliber, of his caliber, guys are going to look at him and they're going to follow him, and he stands for all the right things. Again, like I said, the way he works, the way he goes about his business, Each day competitive. It's just contagious. We like to build our culture here on our detail of how we play football, our fundamentals, with how we tackle, with how we take care of the ball, how we take the ball away, blocking. You know, we talk a lot about our toughness, our physical toughness. You know, I think this is a physically tough group, you know, starting, you know how he's done a great job putting these, these guys together. And, you know, our offense and defensive line lead the way. And then you got some linebackers that are making big time plays with Zach Vaughn and Nakobe Dean, the defense is hit. And so we talk about detail, we talk about physicality, and we talk about team. And, you know, that's where I feel like we're continuing to get better. But like Saquon said last night, they don't give trophies out for middle of the year, you know, because you had a good first 10 games of the year. So we got a lot of work to do still.
Pat McAfee
I respect and appreciate that, but your team is awesome to watch, and if we could give a trophy or an award, it would be electrifying every single time from start to finish.
A.J. Hawk
Go ahead, AJ Coach, you mentioned having tough guys on your team. I think that's very evident when you watch your team play. Is that something you can, you can get out of players? Can you make somebody tougher or do you have to bring tough guys in and try to just, you know, maybe sharpen that edge a little bit?
Nick Sirianni
Yeah, that's a, that's a great question. In my experience, it starts with the guys that you bring in. No doubt. But, you know, it starts with that like, again, you get a bunch of tough guys in here like Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Jordan, my Lotta, Jalen Carter. Right. You're going to, you're going to be tough. But I think what happens is the guys that, you know, are on the border and like, you know, they're on the edge there. Am I going to be tough?
Pat McAfee
Am I not?
Nick Sirianni
They follow that lead. And so the culture, yes, you start by bringing in tough guys. And that's something that Howie and I talk about all the time, is the, you know, bringing the guys that will play that are mentally tough. Because being mentally tough, as you guys know, is just as important in this league of being physically tough. Bring in the physically tough guys and then bring in the guys that play with relentless effort. And then that's your culture. Your culture is your habits. And so you get exposed if you're not being, you know, if you're not doing those things on a team with the guys that we have. And so I think it's a, both and, and I think our guys are really, you know, locking into that and it's showing on the field.
Pat McAfee
It's evident whenever you watch that. We talked to Bill Belichick the other day and he chit chatted about how the Chargers culture, as soon as Harbaugh gets there, immediately becomes a physical one because they focus on the O line. They focus on, instead of giving up like Khalil Mack and Bosa big salary, they give away some weapons and they're like, hey, it's going to be tough. And we know your dad in the entire Sirianni family. O line, D line, baby. O line, D line is how you win games. It's always been like that. Now let's talk about being tough at every single position. Is Jake Elliot going through something? Is he tweak as you have a tweak of a muscle or anything like that, or what are your thoughts on last night? I assumed there had to be something because that is such an abnormal evening for Jake Elliott. And I assume you feel the same way.
Nick Sirianni
Yeah, you know, we have so much faith in Jay. He's made so many kicks here, so many big time kicks here, you know, dating back to before I got here. And ever, ever since I've been here, he's made some big time kicks. I mean, shoot, you put on that buffalo film from last year. It's a, he hits a big time kick to help us go into overtime and win that game. And it's just, he's been clutch ever, you know, ever since I've been here and, you know, just an unusual game for him. And I have no doubt in my mind that this team will rally around that. That's what you do when you're a team and you, you know, it's just, you know, we know that he's going to respond. We know that he's clutch. We know that he's coming back next week. We knew we needed him to make those kicks, those extra points to put us up where they needed to. You know, two touchdowns and two two point conversions to go. And so, and he, and he did that. I'm just looking forward to the next time he gets out there and has an opportunity to set straight. And I got so much faith in Jake and the operation. You know, it takes everybody, right? You know, it takes the operation. Rick's been snapping the ball well, Braden's been holding the ball well. And Jake, you know, Will get right back on track. I have no doubt in my mind.
Pat McAfee
Hell yeah. Let's go, Jake. Let's go, buddy. It's good that, hey, just as a kicker, punter, specialist, boy, happy you guys won that game for Jake, you know. Yeah. You lose that game, it is. That is a tough spot. But to your point about the team getting his back, cj, GJ was standing behind him in one of the interviews last night and still called him the best kicker in the league. I love that. That's a good sign of your culture. You got built over there. Now, speaking of culture, Coach Tyrioni has a question for you. Coach?
Tone Diggs
Yeah, Coach, first and foremost, just want to say, unbelievable victory last night. You know, I mean, let these people keep doubting them.
Pat McAfee
Let.
Tone Diggs
Let these people keep doubting us, okay? And listen, I'm gonna say this so that you don't have to say it, because, listen, I understand the forward facing side. You gotta be a professional. You gotta do all that. It's bullshit. Okay? Every single morning I come in the facility, I turn the TV on, what do I see? Hey, the Eagles stink. Their head coach is a big dumb dipshit. He leaves all these points on the board. Hey, the Eagles, they may be 8 and 2, but, you know, are they going to win a playoff game? Coach is going to end up fucking ruining something. You know, Daniel Orlovsky, God bless his soul, he says, he's a Philly guy, he says, hey, I don't trust the Eagles in the playoffs because Nick Sirianni is going to cost him a game. Now listen, coach, our record as head coach, 42 in 19. Second best winning percentage of any active head coach in the NFL. You know, quickest to that many wins in 60 games in Eagles history. Now, I don't want to take another shot at Dan Orlovsky, but you know what his record was in the NFL, coach? His 3 and 23.
Pat McAfee
So what was it? What was it, coach?
Tone Diggs
It was 3 and 23. So, you know, you got guy like that throwing stones from a glass house. I mean, his win percentage is, you know, not even anywhere close to the Mason Dixon line. But listen, there's also a couple other stats that I would like to make you aware of, Coach. You know, because people seem to have so many problems with an 8 and 2 football team. That team is leading one of the toughest divisions in football. Over the last 30 years, only five coaches have started eight and two in three consecutive years. Okay, you got Sean Payton, Bill Belichick.
Pat McAfee
Who?
Tone Diggs
Tony Dungy.
Pat McAfee
Who?
Tone Diggs
Mike Shanahan.
Pat McAfee
Who?
Tone Diggs
And guess who the fifth one is.
Connor
Who?
Pat McAfee
Who?
Tone Diggs
Me, Coach Sirianni. Okay, you got four hall of Famers, and I don't know, I guess that just makes me fucking chop liver every morning on espn. Win weekend, week out, week in, week out, week in, week out. Hey, the Eagles didn't score 50 fucking points this week, so their coach must be a moron. Let's fire the guy. Now, listen, I get it, okay? I understand.
Pat McAfee
It's.
Tone Diggs
What have you done for me lately? That's the NFL. That's Philadelphia. We like talking shit, okay? We like talking shit to fans. We like talking shit to the tv. We like talking shit to everybody. I get that you could do that when you win, which is what we do. But I'm just curious, Coach, should we pay as much attention to that as I've been paying attention to, like. Listen, I understand, you know, hey, like you said, you know, think of it like perfume. You know, you sniff it, you know, you whiff it, you take it in. But don't drink that shit, okay? But it's tough not to drink that shit when you got all these morons out here saying you're a back coach when you're arguably the front runner for fucking coach of the year. So I digress. But I'm just curious, Coach. Like, how difficult is it to see this bullshit day in, day out? And are you ever thinking, like, wait a minute, are we two and eight or are we eight and two? I seem to forgot.
Pat McAfee
Good question.
Nick Sirianni
You look great. I love the outfit. You look great. Coach, you know what? We constantly talk about controlling the things that you can control and that. And that's it. Like, everything else is out of your control. And if you're worried about those things, then you're not worried about the things that are going to help you get better and help you win the next game. And so if I'm constantly thinking about. If I'm constantly telling the guys to block it out, whether it's good praise or whether it's bad praise, and focus on the next thing. If I'm not blocking it out, how do I expect them to do so. And so, you know, the. That's all we're working on. We're working on blocking out the noise when they tell you you're good. We're working on blocking out the noise when they tell you you're bad. Because like I said, it's all about this next game. And, you know, the next game we got the. The Rams, and so we're going to be thinking about that we're going to be thinking about how we get better. And you know what? Sometimes stuff like that galvanizes you and brings you closer together, right, as a. As a football team. So anything we can do to bring ourselves closer together as a football team, you know, doubt, praise, whatever, block it out.
Pat McAfee
All right?
Nick Sirianni
But we know we're here together and trying to get better together.
Pat McAfee
Hell, yeah. Coach. Great question, Coach Tyrioni. Really good.
Tone Diggs
Thank you.
Pat McAfee
Really good, Coach.
Tone Diggs
Look, I never lost it, but looks like I got my swagger back.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
Tone Diggs
Also, I'd be remiss, Pat, if I didn't shout out moms in Natrona Heights. I just want to do that real quick, you know, just real quick.
Nick Sirianni
So you definitely just made her day. I know that. I know that.
Pat McAfee
Lovely lady. Awesome. Okay. So a lot of the heat, I think, started end of last year right with the way last season kind of ended. I think that's when Heat started. And we know the game, how this all works. There's a lot of people. There's only 32 head coaching gigs. There's probably a lot of people that would like to be the head coach, the Philadelphia Eagles, who might have, you know, friends that are on TV and then point some things out. Maybe like, that. They would never do that. Maybe you do because you do things differently. But how things ended last year, I think is a big part of the conversation. So how does this year, or how do you learn from last year to change this year? And what did you take away from how the year ended last year? Coach?
Nick Sirianni
Yeah, man, we spent so much time on just kind of going through everything and. And, you know, from scheme to culture to everything, everything was on. Everything was to be discussed.
Dana White
Right?
Nick Sirianni
And the only way that, you know, we talk about getting better, and it's not as simple as that. Hey, get better every day. No, you have to. You have to be willing to say, here's the things that I screwed up. Here's the things that we screwed up as a team, or I screwed up as the head coach. So you don't repeat that. And so, you know, again, we could have a long conversation about this. I'll keep a lot of that in house of what? You know, one of the things that we. We really felt like we needed it to. To do to. To get the tide going back to the direction we were, that we were headed. But we spent a lot of time. Players put, you know, players put their. They work so damn hard to, you know, continue to get better, to, you know, to look themselves in the mirror. I look myself in the mirror. The coaches look themselves in the mirror. And to do that, you get. You got to be. First of all, you got to be starving to win. You got to be so hungry in this league because there's so many guys. You guys know this. There's so many guys that are just starving to win and starving to be the best and starving, right? So you got to be hungry. And when you're. When you're talking about, you know, professional. You know, professional coaches, professional athletes, you got to be humble to say, here's the. That I screwed up, right? Here's. Here's what we got to get better at. So it really starts with that being hungry and humble. And that's been our approach, you know, since the end of last year. We. None of us had a taste in our mouth that we liked. After that, you know, we were going around the season. We were 10 and one in it, and we didn't finish, obviously, the way we wanted to. And so. But you know what? Adversity sometimes has the ability to make it better, and if you let it. And I think right now, that's where we are as a football team. But like I said and like Saquon said yesterday, damn trophies out for. For the middle of the year. So we still got to bring that attitude of hungry, humble, tough, nasty, physical, grimy, gritty. That's what the Philadelphia Eagles are.
Pat McAfee
Tables and bits everywhere. Coach Tyrioni, ain't that right?
Tone Diggs
Absolutely. Couldn't say it better myself, Coach. I love it. I'm going to get tatted on my body, actually.
A.J. Hawk
I think.
Tone Diggs
I know you already have it, but I'm going to do it as well.
A.J. Hawk
Coach. Last night, Calcutta recovered a huge fumble for you guys. And I always say, like, good things happen when you run to the ball, whether that's on offense or defense. I think that play was a prime example. Is that something like, will you show that in the team meeting and show like, hey, yeah, we may have made a little mistake. They did a great job punching the ball out, but we were there on the spot to get a huge recovery that honestly could have changed the game?
Nick Sirianni
Oh, yeah. Hell yeah, A.J. we will. We will show the crap out of that thing, because, again, we. When you don't just talk about your habits, you got to show your habits. You got to live your habits.
Pat McAfee
Right?
Nick Sirianni
And so it's not just mouse service. Like, we will. We will get in that film room and we'll show, you know, what our detail.
Kirby Smart
Dallas is.
Nick Sirianni
Detail right there is not good enough.
Dana White
Right?
Nick Sirianni
He's swinging the ball over top, he's exposing the ball yet. So that part will be on there. We talk all the time and we'll show hustle plays all the time of, hey, you know, whether it's a defensive lineman coming out of, you know, a screen happens, the defensive lineman coming out of the stack and, and smacking a receiver that caught a screen pass, or, you know, the relentless effort of a guy getting to the football. And we talk a lot about when you, when the ball carrier, you know, has the ball that are we, you know, after a catch, are you flipping and finding? That's what we talk. We talk about that a lot. Are you flipping and finding and trying to get a block on the guy? And that's what Grant was trying to do.
Dana White
He loved Dallas.
Nick Sirianni
Dallas loves him.
Dana White
Like.
Nick Sirianni
And Grant was just trying to get a block for Dallas and what happened right, he was right there when the ball came out. And so we'll show that there's a, there's an awesome clip from yesterday of the, you know, on Saquon's run on third down of devontae Smith and John Dotson running out of there, you know, running off instead of blocking right there. We talk about that. That's relentless effort. That makes a big, big difference. And then just look at that one that you just showed. I'm watching you guys show the one that Dallas. And then we're talking about with Grant. Look how A.J. brown clears this thing out. Like, A.J. brown's a clear out route there. Like, he's the clear out route there. He's not getting the football there. He's clearing that out for his teammate. And so we'll show that because we know, you know, Grant, Grant has been stepped into the spotlight while Dallas was out and he did an unbelievable job, but now he's back to being our number two tight end. And so everyone's role is not the same, but everyone's role is vitally important. And man, as mad as I am at Dallas, watching this over and over, as mad as I'm getting at Dallas right now for the way I'm so pumped that it, it's the greatest team sport there is, it takes freaking everybody. And I love that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And everybody can lift up everybody, you know, just like the team did to Jake Elliott last night. That is a. And you know, AJ Wanted to bring that up strictly because, you know, bad teams aren't doing that. You know, like teams that have bad culture aren't doing that. You know, so whenever there's a lower third across the bottom, that's just saying every single time, like, the questions of the coach, it's like, who created the culture? You know, it's. I think you deserve a lot more credit for that because obviously a lot of talent on your team and would like to talk about Jalen here in a second because he seems like one of the coolest dudes of all time, literally. He did an interview in sunglasses last night with svp. I thought, this is the coolest guy I've ever seen in my entire life. But, like, everybody buying in and clearly buying in whenever you were being attacked, everybody coming to your defense, like, that culture doesn't just show up, you know, that is something that is crafted by the head coach. So I think we'd like to take this time, even though it might be uncomfortable for you. Congrats on being able to do that. People are able to do that coach legit. That's a real deal. Now let's talk about Jalen a little. Talk about Jalen a little bit. Hey, no problem. Let's not get too ego about it. You know what I mean? Let's. We. Every day, you know, Every day, you know, you got to do that whole thing. Let's talk about Jalen. Seems like he is the perfect professional quarterback. Obviously. We all know his college story. We've seen his NFL story. The end of last year, Obviously, a lot of things were being said. Has weapons, is able to do it, has new offense with Kellen, his leadership style. What have you learned about Jalen, maybe since the first day you met him? And what are your thoughts as him as your face of your franchise here going forward for hopefully the next 10, 15 years?
Nick Sirianni
You know what strikes me with Jalen is just like, he's a winner, right? He is a born winner. Like, tell me where he hasn't won. You know, he's won everywhere. He's went. Alabama, Oklahoma, here with the Eagles, like, and he just continues to win. And I, man, I hope you know that I can't give much of a better compliment then, man, this guy's a football player. This guy's a winner. And, man, I'm so pleased with how he continues to get better and how he looks at himself and says, how do I get better? You know, and he's had some. He's had these incredible games. He's this incredible career so far, and all he cares about is how he gets better and continues to help this football team win. And like, you know, and you see the plays, like, we don't even need to talk about the play, you guys see it, I mean, he's making unbelievable throws and making big time scrambles on. That's that third down and that third down and nine last night where he got to the, you know, he got out of the pocket, ripped and scored and got the first down was awesome. He had that one last week where he threw the touchdown to God or the guy comes free, right? They got us on this.
Pat McAfee
We were.
Nick Sirianni
They got us on this pressure. I won't get into the pressure. I don't want anyone else to think about that, but he got us in the pressure. And the guy and the linebacker comes through clean. He rips the ball through and rips up through it and then throws it to Dallas for a touchdown. He's a special player. We got, you know, we got special players on this football team that it's a, It's a pleasure to be around him. Jalen's at the top of that list.
Pat McAfee
Hell yeah. Connor has a question for you, coach.
Gumpy
Yeah, coach. Speaking of Jalen, there's some doubt about the tush push coming in this year. You know, you lose Kelsey and maybe, maybe it's not going to work. After each game, do you kind of say, like, how about this, boys? We're still pushing piles like we were born to do. And you know, another thing about Saquon that doesn't get mentioned, it was said into the group today, he's had like nine rushes stopped at the one. And basically every single time Jalen takes it home, is there a conversation between those two after the game too? Like, hey, Jalen, you're welcome for that touchdown again.
Nick Sirianni
Yeah, you know, again, team game, obviously, but we've done a good job and, you know, that's, you know, when you lose a player like Jason Kelsey, who made that thing go, who had a big part of making that thing go, because it takes everybody as we know, it takes the pusher, it takes the edges, it takes everybody. You know, that's always, that's always tough. But Cam's done a great job and, you know, he was able to play right alongside Jalen last or, pardon me, Jason last year and learned from him. But the guys are. Landon Dickerson's awesome at it, you know, Makai Becton, how many things can I say good about him? I love that he's on this football team. He is. He has really stepped in and done a nice job. Lane. Lane Johnson. Jordan. My Lotta Fred Johnson. Tyler Steen was in there yesterday for, for one, what I think's cool about the. The push push or Whatever you want to call it is that now I'm.
Pat McAfee
What do you call it? Yeah, what do you call it?
A.J. Hawk
What's in the place?
Nick Sirianni
I'm not giving away our code words. I can't do that. I can't do that.
Pat McAfee
No, it's quarterback coach. Quarterback snake.
Nick Sirianni
Here's what I think is cool about it, that teams, when I go see my son, who's nine years old playing peewee football, teams are doing that. He's their quarterback sneak guy that they put in for like, I feel like he's kind of get. But he scored about three touchdowns this year on quarterback sneak.
A.J. Hawk
We got called. My kids team got called for a penalty. They called something player assist. We believe it. We wanted to burn the place down. It was a terrible call. We scored as well.
Nick Sirianni
Maybe that's the difference between pa. New.
Dana White
Jer, where are you?
A.J. Hawk
I'm in Ohio, so.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
I don't know. Yeah, you get it doesn't seem very Ohio like this.
Nick Sirianni
That's big time football, though. I'm shocked that you know that's big time football.
A.J. Hawk
I think we had one bad ref.
Pat McAfee
That, you know, he got big time is Pennsylvania, clearly. I mean, that's what I just learned. Right. Holy hell. Wow.
A.J. Hawk
It blew my mind, everyone. Yeah, I think it was just one rogue ref though.
Pat McAfee
That's the problem against toughness and football touchdowns.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, this guy was.
Pat McAfee
Wow. This guy was holy. So, coach, that's not my son.
Nick Sirianni
Touchdowns from the one. So like I, I'm, I'm pumped about that. You know, I'm, you know, getting a couple, couple freebies in there. But from the push of his old.
Pat McAfee
Line, I think Jalen has like nine touchdowns with nine yards rushing or whatever. And there was a whole conversation about Saquon getting down to the one yard line and then like just smiling because he's know. He knows, like, all right, now it's my turn to push somebody in pretty much. It's like other people. Look how cool that is.
Nick Sirianni
Look how cool that is, Pat. Like Saquon knows that and you know, he had one on the four yard line yesterday and he knows that how important that is that he doesn't reach there and put the ball at risk. He's a selfless player and he takes the ball knowing that Jalen's going to get the touchdown on the one he doesn't reach there. And that's what you're trying to constantly preach is the selflessness of the football team. I actually have a picture in my office of Kenny Gainwell in the super bowl the biggest stage of his life ever. And he had the same opportunity in 2022 on a first down, or I think it was third down, to reach in the end zone or protect the football and not let somebody come and get. Because we've seen that. We see that all over the place, right? They reach for the end when someone comes in and it doesn't happen all the time, but the time it happens, you're like, well, shit like that can't happen. And so you talk about that being selfless and Kenny Gainwell in the most. The biggest game that we've all dreamed about since we've been kids, doesn't reach for the end zone. And then Jalen scores the next touchdown. I think that shows you team connection. Selflessness is one of the biggest things of being a good teammate.
Pat McAfee
I love that you have that up in your office. Just like a nice reminder of, you know, maybe I'm not a big dumb dipshit. Ain't that right, Coach Kyriani?
Tone Diggs
Yeah, well said. I mean, a couple other reminders, you know, a couple other people who, you know, maybe we keep some receipts, Coach. And after the season, I don't know, maybe. Maybe those. Maybe those debts come due.
Pat McAfee
I don't know, maybe you and Big Dom, huh, Coach Tariani? You and Big Dom go knocking on some doors.
Tone Diggs
Listen, I never would preach violence, you know, I'm obviously not going to do that. I understand football is a violent game, but you know, Big Dom, I mean, you can say what you want about him. You think that guy's never hit it? Hit a kneecap with a wooden baseball bat.
Pat McAfee
Okay, all right. Okay. Can you tell us about Big Bomb Coach? Can you tell us about Big Dom?
Dana White
Big Dom.
Nick Sirianni
Nobody is as good at their job as Big Dom as it is. And I, I love him. Like, he. He lives to help other people. I mean, I hopefully, like, when I say that, you know, him like it, like, that is the biggest compliment I could get. Like, he. He lives to serve and help other people. And like my family, the organization, myself, like, we. We are so grateful for him. He. And nobody does his job like. Like Big Dom does that.
A.J. Hawk
Look at that.
Pat McAfee
And yeah, the NFL tried to, you know, kind of sabotage you guys by banning them from the sideline. Like, I mean, what a. What a bunch of malarkey that was. Last question here for you, Coach. And we appreciate your time. Comes from Italian man from Pittsburgh. Tone digs.
Connor
Yeah, Coach Sirianni, about an hour and a half west of Pittsburgh is a. Just a beautiful campus in Alliance, Ohio. The Mountain Union Purple Raiders. They're 9 and 0. I visited. I didn't go there, but I know you did go there. I just wanted to let you know we do this Ram truck segment every Thursday, just highlighting, you know, some of the best football hits you could find in college football. Just want to let you know, for the third straight week, Mount Union has won our Ram truck segment. And Weston Arthur, DB from Mount Union's got a chance to win a beautiful Ram truck.
Nick Sirianni
What's his name? There you go, Weston.
Pat McAfee
Nice hit. Yeah, yeah. Helmet off. Coach. Coach, why don't you sign them to the Eagles?
Gumpy
Here we go.
Nick Sirianni
See? We'll see. We'll see.
Pat McAfee
He might drive over. He might drive over there.
Nick Sirianni
There's only been so many of us that came out of there, like Pierre Garcon, as you know, and Cecil Shorts are the big one, so I don't know. We'll see what Weston has. I'll look at some tape here.
Pat McAfee
I promise you Weston's gonna have a 2500 heavy duty rebel Ram if he keeps it up. I mean, what a shot. Legal, legal shot. This Rams. Let me go ahead.
Nick Sirianni
Let me put my vote. Let me put my vote in for him, the Mountain Union guy. I hope he gets that trust.
Pat McAfee
All right, all right, we will. We will put that in. And we'll put a vote in for you for coach of the damn year. We appreciate the hell out of you. Enjoy this mini bye week. Obviously, get prepared for the Rams. Good luck the rest of the way and thank you for taking time on this Friday.
Nick Sirianni
Appreciate it, guys. Thanks for having me on.
Pat McAfee
All right. Ladies and gentlemen, Coach Nick Sirianni.
Gumpy
Yeah, Coach.
Pat McAfee
Love that guy.
A.J. Hawk
He's great.
Gumpy
Such a weapon.
Pat McAfee
Coach Tyrioni, wonderful performance out of you. Wonderful performance out of you, Coach Tyrioni.
Tone Diggs
Well, you know, it had to be said at some point. You know, I was actually a little surprised that I didn't turn on get up this morning when I got into the office and it was, hey, look at what you know, the big dumb dip did it again. They beat the. Beat the commander somehow. I don't know this guy. Well, you know, first, everyone's got a problem. You don't send the kicker out. You send the kicker out, the guy misses eight fucking kicks. But, you know, nobody's gonna. Well, you get what I'm saying. He missed a lot of kicks, but, you know, no one say anything about that. But we'll see.
Pat McAfee
We'll see.
Tone Diggs
Maybe, Maybe people are going to apply some chapstick and start smooching some Butt the next couple.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
A.J. Hawk
Whoa.
Pat McAfee
All right. I do wonder why it's because. And, you know, just watching and judging the situation and how it's gone, because, like, I would obviously love to have an 8 and 2 football team in my city. Yeah. But the expectations, obviously, for Eagles fans, with the roster they have, with the success that they've had, is like, we got to win a Super Bowl. So I understand whenever everything's being judged, like, is this going to win a Super Bowl? Is this going to win Super Bowl? Is this going to win a Super Bowl? But just like, after getting wins, and I understand fans are going to react how they are. Philadelphia people, very passionate, great shit talkers. Like, I can respect that. But the amount of TV shit, media stuff about, it's like, why.
A.J. Hawk
Why do you think? Are they the Cowboys, where everybody talks about the Cowboys, it just Eagles, or is it because of last year? Like kind of the kind of meltdown? Is that still fresh in people's brain?
Pat McAfee
I think it's because Sirianni is different, you know, I think now mcdc also different. But it's Detroit versus Philadelphia media, you know, so it's like. I think it's like two different places, you know, And I think Philadelphia Eagles, that coaching gig is a highly coveted one, I think, by a lot of people. So if you're on TV and you have friends that potentially want that job, you know, there. There's maybe some things that are going to be like, did you see him talking to the fans? What? That is unbecoming, is it not? Is that a. And then do you see him not kicking field? What is this guy was this guy thinks he's smarter than football. It's like. So I think those things kind of spur. And if you're doing anything different than what. How it's been done forever, you're obviously going to ruffle some feathers. We've learned that, right? I think we have learned that from our particular profession. There's just going to be people that don't like it. Like, I don't like it. You don't talk like how you're supposed to talk. You don't act how you're supposed to act. You don't look how you're supposed to look at this particular position. So there's going to be people that are against it regardless. And I think he falls into that category. I think that certainly is something. But then, like, with the way last year ended, I think that gives, like, some more ammo. So it's like you're always going to have to take the shrapnel, but I think it's been a little bit unjust this year with where they're sitting now. If they. If they don't end up going and they do crumble again. Like, I think it's warranted. I think it's 100% warranted, but, like 8 and 2 football team, with the way they've been tied, it's like wild stuff. I legitimately don't fully understand it. Agent.
A.J. Hawk
Yes, it is kind of weird. And I know Dano got. Got a few shots from Coach Tyrioni, not too much, but has Dano been one of the guys, you know, you know, rounded people up, letting them know that he feels like Sirianni's not doing a great job.
Gumpy
Oh, yeah, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Is he like the front. Is he the guy? Is he the front of the caboose?
Tone Diggs
I mean, everyone's had their, you know, their say. Everyone's had their fun. Everyone's had their little quips. But, yeah, I mean, Dan, he. He said. He said, hey, listen, if the Eagles go to the playoffs right now, they're the team I'm most concerned about. Because of their coach.
A.J. Hawk
Because of their coach.
Gumpy
Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Head coach. That's. He'd really said that.
Tone Diggs
That's what the bottom line on ESPN said. AJ Think we're just bullshitting.
A.J. Hawk
Hey, I'm just trying to recap for. Maybe some people didn't say, hey, why don't you.
Pat McAfee
Why don't you follow the product a little bit? Just like, what.
A.J. Hawk
You actually follow the product a little bit.
Pat McAfee
I actually appreciate the fact that you don't watch those shows, actually. Yeah, I was driving. I was driving here. No, no, but. Well, this has been like the last. All week. Yeah, but I like the fact you're like, nope, I don't need anybody else's. I got my own locked in. But we, like, literally watch it every morning. And, you know, with our program, like, the lower thirds are obviously very important. Lower thirds are very important. Important because ESPN is on a lot of airports, on a lot of cafes, people walking by. You can't hear what's being said, but you can see what is happening in just the lower thirds that people have been seeing while out in public on TV is literally like, Sirianni is a dip head coach of Eagles. Like, just right across the bottom every morning for last few weeks. How long has it been happening, Coach Tyrion? A few weeks at this point?
Tone Diggs
Yeah. I mean, probably at least two weeks. I mean, I'm sure they were saying stuff before that, but they really started turning up the last two weeks despite, you know, winning six football games.
A.J. Hawk
This is the Eagles thing though, right? Remember Jason Kelsey in his post super bowl went after Michael Lombardi, right, as head coach.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you're right. And I think, you know, that's a great franchise over there. Philadelphia Eagles for sure. Passionate dog. Dogs fans, dogs. So it's almost like Sirianni's like the perfect coach for them.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, like he is the way, oh, we didn't get to ask him about the Reddit report that he was just like responding to the fan that was telling him he needs to Ron Baltimore needs Ron Baltimore. And then at the end he goes, huh, huh? We did okay, let's go ahead and stop everything we're saying. And it's like, that's maybe the most Philadelphia move of all time, what sir, he's doing right here. But instead, if you want to say that's unbecoming, you certainly can, you know, so he has provided some things, I think, for people to maybe attack if they wanted to, but also like he's winning games and his team loves him. So isn't that what a coach is supposed to do? Isn't that how it's supposed to be? I. It's just all very interesting to me. All very interesting.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. Con man needs. If you win, you can do whatever you want, right?
Gumpy
Yeah, no doubt about it. And also, like just knowing people from Philly and knowing what type of sports city Philly is like, you know, they love that type of stuff, like the shit talk and all that. And obviously overreaction Monday, it does get loud for Nick Sirianni just because people do, you know, kind of nitpick every single little decision he makes. But they were unbelievable last night, like, start to finish, really. Of course, the first half was a little slow, Boring. Yeah, it was boring. There weren't many points, but they were battling. But the big thing with the Eagles, especially when you look at the last three years and we see it with a lot of teams on a year to year basis, like they've had coordinator turnover every single year. And now especially with the defense, like they're figuring it out, obviously they ended up scoring 18 points to commanders, but that was. They held them to 10 points damn near the whole game in the, you know, Commander's offense, what they're second in the entire league. Like they're figuring out on that end Saquon's gonna go. Pat mentioned no matter what the entire game looks like, you know, in that second half, especially in the fourth Quarter, like they're going to break through. And then AJ Brown and Devonta Smith are unbelievable on the outside. Like, it is hard to imagine that they have the same exact thing happen last year where they did fall off. I think they had 10 wins, and they ended up finishing, you know, 1 and 6, 1 and 7, whatever the hell it was. And then they lose to the Bucks in the first round. Like, this Eagles team is going to go. And my lotta just came back, and you see him there. He made that big block to kind of spring Saquon at the end of the game for his second touchdown. If I'm an Eagles fan, this is probably the best I've felt since they went to the Super Bowl. Obviously, every year they're in it. And Ty mentioned, you know, they've started 8 and 2 for the third straight season, and it feels like they're going to continue to go. Feels like they kind of have a very, very good, you know, hold on the division right now, especially with that win. They're a game and a half up on the commanders. Like, I feel great about the Eagles going forward. And when you talk about, you know, the teams at the top of the nfc, Lions and now the Eagles, both of them can run the ball, both of them can win on the road, and both of them had quarterbacks that are playing very well that don't turn the ball over, and their defenses are playing out of their mind. So I. If. If I'm guessing right now, vibes in Philly are very, very high about the East.
Pat McAfee
Holy. Holy. I can't say this loud enough. I was just in the middle, you know, lathering the 70 SPF. Smart, because it's getting hot, and it just got hotter somehow. Ladies and gentlemen, now we have another guest that's scheduled to join us three minutes ago. So whenever that person shows up, ladies and gentlemen, living legend, friend of the program. Fucking McGee's here.
Dana White
And my man is just lubing up.
Pat McAfee
Hey.
A.J. Hawk
Just lubing up.
Pat McAfee
But they obviously all just went absolutely crazy. How are you, brother?
Dana White
I'm good, man. How you doing?
Pat McAfee
What do we got? What are you doing this weekend, dear? We're doing.
Dana White
We're doing Marty McGee.
Pat McAfee
This is the microphone.
Dana White
Yeah, we're doing Marty McGee over the.
Pat McAfee
Other side of campus.
Dana White
And yeah, I keep saying I'm. I'm on game day, but I'm not on game day. I'm just going to stand behind y'all tomorrow, just, like, wave.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but your essays are fantastic. Thank you.
Dana White
I appreciate that.
Pat McAfee
I'm happy you were the one doing this.
Dana White
Well, and I'm happy that you.
Pat McAfee
That you're happy.
Dana White
Dude, it's so good to see you.
Pat McAfee
It's been.
Dana White
It's been since May.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we miss you.
Dana White
Yeah, I miss you too.
Pat McAfee
We missed that voice. Do you boys have any questions for McGee here?
Gumpy
I mean, McGee just. You have any Bojangles lately? How's the life been since May? Since that Celtics game?
Pat McAfee
Connor just said that he heard you don't eat Bojangles anymore. Is that accurate?
Dana White
No, I had it.
Pat McAfee
I had it two days ago. Okay.
Dana White
No, no, I think he doesn't eat Bojangles anymore. I'm. I eat it all the time.
Pat McAfee
No, he. He does eat Bojangles. He loves Bojangles.
Dana White
And. And I.
Pat McAfee
They. And by the way, so I did.
Dana White
That with you guys in May, and.
Pat McAfee
Bojangles hooked y'all up, and they didn't send me nothing. They what? They sent us carry North Carolina. We got like six boxes. Yeah, it was great. I it all out all over the place. Yeah, I got nothing. So what's that all about? I don't know. So there's a handsome man with a great haircut on the other side.
Dana White
Obviously he's making inappropriate gestures.
Pat McAfee
No, no. You look great. Ladies and gentlemen.
Nick Sirianni
Super power.
Pat McAfee
What's up?
A.J. Hawk
It's Marty and McGee.
Pat McAfee
Hey. Boys are going bananas. McAfee, Marty McGee. The Southern trio that you never knew you needed. How excited are you for this weekend in Africa? Yeah, absolutely. I got. I got sunscreen all over. Oh, okay.
Gumpy
Well, good.
Pat McAfee
You need it. I don't know how you all survive down here. The whites in the South. I don't know how you guys. You especially your white.
Dana White
You have no. You have no shirt on. I have a jacket on.
Mike Tyson
He has a three quarter zip on.
Pat McAfee
I have no idea what the hell we're doing. I'm a completely different level of fail. I'm trans translucent. I'm so white. That's what I SPF 2000 all the.
Dana White
Time before I even leave the damn house.
Pat McAfee
All right, we got to get you guys the hell out of here. Love you. Love you too. God, what a treat. It only gets better. It only gets better. Hey, we need a microphone up here and ears. Ladies and gentlemen, national champion coach multiple time just walked on of the field. And I'll tell you what, Aura, these khakis are pristine right now. I mean, you're talking about a guy who I cannot. Can we? Yep. Perfect. Here we go, aj. Go ahead, brothers. I'll let you know.
A.J. Hawk
He's obviously dialing up Coach Kirby smart getting him. Get him ears set up. I wonder, Tone, where's the money out on this game?
Connor
The money is on Tennessee. 56% of the money is on Tennessee. Not to win the game. To cover the nine and a half. It's a pretty nine and a half.
A.J. Hawk
Seems a pretty lot. Right?
Connor
And pretty sizable spread. Especially, you know, when Georgia's coming off what they did that loss last week to Ole Miss. Man, it's tough for Coach. Follow Marty McKee.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Gumpy
No, he can't.
A.J. Hawk
Marty McGee.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
What is his injury?
Connor
I don't know what his injury is, but I believe he's at.
A.J. Hawk
He's out. I think Pat's trying to get coach some. I don't know if he's trying to talk him into getting some sunscreen going right now. I don't know if that's going to happen or not, but yeah. Georgia nine points. Nine and a half.
Pat McAfee
You said nine and a half.
Connor
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
All right, here we go. Pat. I think Pat, you might be back with. With coach. You guys. I don't know if you talked him into some lotion or not.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he was just talking about. He was actually looking out for me. He said, you have any sunscreen on? I told him I got 70. SPF. Ladies and gentlemen, multiple time national champion, coach Kirby Smart.
Mike Tyson
Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate it. Great to be here. Hey, we are fair skin fellow.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Amen. We are lucky and thankful that you're here. Okay. Legitimately massive game tomorrow. You've been a part of a lot of massive games this year. How do you feel about where your team is right now? And do you feel battle tested? Because obviously, number one, strength of schedule. You've had more top 10 games than anybody in the country. Obviously they wanted Georgia in prime time games. Georgia and prime time games. Do you feel calloused? What do you think about your team now versus maybe at the beginning of the season?
Mike Tyson
Definitely battle tested. Definitely calloused. But I can say that about most of our league. When you play in these battles, especially on the road, it is a tough environment and our guys have played and I think callous is a good word because when you repeatedly go play on the road in tough environments, it calluses you. And we got some beat up kids, but we also got some kids excited about being home. I mean, being able to play in this thing, which we haven't played in in over a month. We'd like to be able to play in here.
Pat McAfee
92746, I was told is going to be in here tomorrow.
Mike Tyson
At least.
Pat McAfee
Oh, because you're saying that they're going to pile in in the hauler here. Smart. Let's talk about the. I don't want. But obviously we have to. Ole Miss game. Yeah. Very abnormal. Georgia Bulldog game. Is that how you guys viewed it? How did you address the team after that? And what's the mindset?
Mike Tyson
Just honest. I mean, you know, you reflect on the game and you be honest. Our players want honesty. They knew we were going into a really tough environment. Lane's doing a great job. He got a couple players back that helped them. They played really well defensively. They got a great quarterback. When you got a quarterback, you got a chance, and they've got a really good quarterback and they played well and, you know, give them credit. And we didn't play so well. And when you turn the ball over, I think we crossed the 56 or seven times that we ended up not getting any points. Whether you turn it over or don't execute well, that's what happens. We didn't protect the quarterback real well either.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, and then tomorrow, Tennessee, you're talking about. And you guys, that's five teams that could be in a college football playoff that you obviously either are or have to play against. Do you keep up with all that shit?
Mike Tyson
Well, I have to. I mean, we look at it each week and we say, all right, where are we? What are we doing? What are we gonna do to better? What are we gonna do better? But that's one of those things that's also out of our control. So I think the News Tuesday came out, and it's not something that we talk about, but it's like, okay, well, what's the importance of the schedule? If we play a really tough schedule, is there value in that? Yeah, you know what I mean? I think there's value in that when you win and then when you don't or you don't play well. I don't know. I don't know how much the committee values it. They're looking at things through a sample size of. They're looking at the game on the tv. They're not at the stadium hearing the crowd noise, knowing the atmosphere that you're playing in. It's very different when you play on the road in our league. I think compared to some other leagues, it's tougher.
Pat McAfee
I think there's a good chance that Coach Saban is going to be saying a lot of the things that you just mentioned right there on game.
Mike Tyson
Where do you think I learned it from yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Amen.
Pat McAfee
Amen. AJ Back in Indianapolis has a question for you, Coach.
A.J. Hawk
During. On game day. Like, I'm just curious with your interaction with your. Your quarterback, Carson back. Is it. What's it? Are you very like in his ear a lot? Are you guys going back and forth or do you kind of let him do his thing on game day?
Mike Tyson
Well, I've learned with quarterbacks, I think probably early on in my career, I would. If you started with J. From or Jacob Easton, I was more with them a lot of the time and always talking to them. With a quarterback, coach has time in between drives to talk to him. I'm very involved with the defense, so my time with Carson is usually during the week, not necessarily in game. And I think most head coaches that work on the defensive side of the ball will tell you I'm not in every quarterback meeting. So what I want to do is support him, tell him, be positive, keep fighting, keep chopping, keep doing the things we got to do. And Carson's very bright, so it's not like you need to go over there and say, hey, what coverage was that? He knows what coverage it was. He knows what decision has to be made. He's got to protect the ball. He's got to make good decisions. And that's one of the things we've been working on this week.
Pat McAfee
He's taking a lot of heat this year, you know, because the projections, maybe QB1, obviously we've seen him win before. He's. He has it all. Then there's a couple games where he turns ball over a lot and maybe it's a deflection, maybe it's something else. The loss of Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey and all the other weapons that you have, how do you replace those every single year? And is there a transition time that maybe isn't accounted for because you're Georgia?
Mike Tyson
I don't know that. I think. I think you always want to reload and replenish. Whether that's through the portal or that's through recruiting. We have to do a great job of doing that. I would say, if anything, this year, it's not really about the loss of just them as much as it has been some significant injuries. We're a very different team than we were to start the year. You know, we've got three starting backs out that would be playing between Rod Branson and Trevor. We got offensive linemen who have not been able to practice during the week. And I think that affects the confidence and the psyche as much as anything yes. Losing a Brock Bowers matters. Losing a lad McConkie matters. Losing a Marcus Rosemi matters. But everybody deals with that. You deal with that and then you replace. We've had all offseason to replace that. We got to do a good job with the guys we have.
Pat McAfee
Not everybody loses. Three first rounders. Yeah, just one of that. That is not. That is.
Mike Tyson
Well, they weren't all first rounders.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Yeah. But the culture that you have built obviously brings that AP tone. Has a question for you.
Connor
Yeah, Coach, I'm glad you just brought up the Oline injuries because that's what I wanted to talk about. I mean, your two championship runs. And then last year, like everyone said, you know, this is one of the one or two best offensive lines in the country. And I know you've had injuries dealing with that this year. And then. And then last week, there's a lot of pressure on the quarter. And then this week against Tennessee, they have one of the best D lines in the country. Is it not a great that you guys lost last week, but is it. Was it an eye opener for the offensive line? Maybe be like, hey, we need to tighten up again against Tennessee. Based off of what happened Ole Miss.
Mike Tyson
Last week, I definitely think it'll probably act as a motivator. But that motivation typically doesn't last, but maybe 10 plays. It boils down to how you practice, how you prepare, what you have available. I mean, Tate goes out in the game last week, he wants to play. It means a lot to him. He goes out to play, he dings an ankle that he's already come back from, and he's not playing real well because he's injured. You know, Ernest has been beat up. He's been hurt at tackle. He struggled to practice and has to go out and play. Jared's missed two or three games. Micah's out right now. So when you start talking about it, it's a bunch of guys that have been hurt or injured. And I don't know that the motivation is. Well, we didn't play great last week. Let's tighten up. The motivation is we're playing at home. We're playing a really good defense. We need to go play well.
Pat McAfee
Okay, let's talk about that hypo offense. Yeah. You know, because obviously everybody remembers the hen and hooker wide open, were thrown. It's a bit different than now. They pound the rock a lot. How do you feel about facing against Hypo's offense and how do you think your defense fares against their style?
Mike Tyson
Well, it's tough because you have to change your defense to play against them. There's plays and defenses we haven't called all year that we have to play against them because they're very different. They're fast, they have huge splits, and everybody knows that. So you get to watch other people play against them and you're trying to get ideas of how you want to play against them, but they go so fast that they limit what you can do. You got to try to beat them back to the ball, get lined up out, execute them. And this year they have been different. I mean, they're explosive. They got a great quarterback and they got really good wideouts, but they got a back and he trusts that he plays behind his defense a little more.
Pat McAfee
Nico e Maliava obviously said it pretty good, right? Dang good. Yeah. Thank you. Have you. Have you tried it all or. No, just Nico.
Mike Tyson
I like Nico.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Nico's a great name. He's a great name. He's questionable, obviously, but in college ball, you can say that. And then it seems pretty apparent he's going to play.
Dana White
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Is that how you treat it or do you have to think about potential backups playing as well?
Mike Tyson
No, you treat it like he's going to play and you adjust if he doesn't. I think anytime that's the case offensively, there's not a huge change for them. When he's not in. I do think that he's a great talent. I mean, the ball comes out like a missile. I've never seen a ball. We call it a bazooka around here. It comes out and it's really flat and fast, and the ball travels 53 yards really quickly. But he is talented. He's got great arm talent and he's got great wideouts to throw it to.
Pat McAfee
Do you always show your pick of Peyton Manning this week?
Mike Tyson
He has. Long as he doesn't show all those plays. He d. No, no, no.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, just to the team.
Mike Tyson
For some reason, every year he likes to come back and show all the plays. I. I didn't pick that play. You know, like, I mean, he's going to probably be at the game and he's going to say, well, you put that on the McAfee Show.
Pat McAfee
No, no, we didn't. We did.
A.J. Hawk
I would like to let.
Pat McAfee
I would like to let Pa. How.
Mike Tyson
About those pads, man? You think those pads are big enough.
Pat McAfee
Back in the day? Old school, brother. How do you feel about modern football? Listen, cuz, I know you were. What is it, blood? What was.
Gumpy
Bloody Tuesdays.
Pat McAfee
Bloody Tuesday. You still got to be a physical team, right?
Mike Tyson
Got to be a physical team.
Pat McAfee
That's always.
Mike Tyson
We had Bloody Tuesday forever when I was here. Everybody acts like it's a new thing for us. I think every team in the country likes Bloody Tuesday.
Pat McAfee
No, no.
Mike Tyson
Not all teams do it.
Pat McAfee
Not every team.
Mike Tyson
That's right.
Pat McAfee
As somebody who's watched a lot of soft football.
Mike Tyson
Right.
Pat McAfee
Not every team loves it, but I appreciate the fact that your guys buy into it. You have a bunch of dogs.
Mike Tyson
That means a lot coming from a punter. That makes me feel. That makes me feel really good. We got a punter you need to talk to, too. Our guys got the personality. He loves you.
Pat McAfee
Special teams. Big one, bar. You think big.
Mike Tyson
Special teams. Well, they're really good. They're really good on special teams.
Pat McAfee
Breezy. It's always breezy in here. Feels like a little breezy.
Mike Tyson
A little breezy. A little breezy. Not as bad as Jacksonville, but it's breezy.
Pat McAfee
Amen. Are you not hot as shit in that thing?
Mike Tyson
I'm in a building that's like 50 degrees every day, so when I walk out, I get a little warm, but I live inside.
Pat McAfee
You're the man. We can't thank you enough for taking time.
Mike Tyson
Thank you, guys.
Pat McAfee
Good luck.
Mike Tyson
My son loves the show. He said, dad, you're going to be on McAfee Show. I said, yeah, he loves it. Thank you, bro.
Pat McAfee
Hey, I hope you know what happened to the SEC championship. I made a prediction.
Mike Tyson
What about it?
Pat McAfee
I did the whole. What's that? Call me. And I picked out. They're gonna hold that against me tomorrow.
Mike Tyson
I don't think so. I don't think they will. They all think you got a man crush on Dan Lanning anyway.
Pat McAfee
So come on, what's going on there? I kind of do, but also, I also think you're awesome as well. Ladies and gentlemen, national champion multiple times coach, Kirby Smart.

Pat, what's happening? How did it all end up with Coach Kirby Smarty? You seem to get a big chuckle at the end there for him from you.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we had a good time. Marty Smith and Kirby Smart are currently doing an interview just a few yards away from the program. So, boom. Mike in tow. Gonna try to keep it down so I don't interrupt, but Kirby Smart's the real deal, and I didn't know this. Okay, they're done. Perfect. See it, Coach. All right. Sweet. Way to go, Marty. Great interview. I love you. Okay, so I didn't know this about the entire Kirby. Kirby Smart grew up, okay, watching wrestling, and he said his favorite wrestler of all time, the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes. Wow. He said he had posters all over his room. He said he was in Alabama watching him wrestle. Back in day, he started saying Rick Flair, Arn Anderson. He started rattling off all these old school wrestlers from back in the day. He said, you don't know nothing about that. I said, oh, Coach, please. Okay, you're talking wrong. You're barking up the wrong tree here. You sound like a social media team member from espn, you know, acting like I don't know everything that you're talking about right there. So, like, whenever Kirby Smart says something about the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes, and then Cody Rhodes is the guest picker tomorrow, it's like, feels like we're. We're set up for a magical. Hey. Feels like we're about to have some magic down here in Athens over the next 24 hours and I can't wait to tell Cody Rhodes that about what Kirby just said about his dad. That was, that was a really cool, that was a really cool moment right there. I, I feel like I learned so much in such a little time and him stopping by is so incredibly kind because he's got a thousand things going on. He, he's just got out of a meeting at 50 degree weather in his office. He's going back to another one. And tomorrow isn't elimination game for this Georgia team. That's it. You want to play in a Gator bowl or you want to play in college football playoff. And he, he said it there when he was talking about scheduling and everything like that. That's a hot topic right now. I just got out of the game day production meeting and now that we're getting close to how many bids for each conference and who and everything like that, Georgia is obviously going to be talked about a lot because their losses would be to top seven teams if they had top six teams. When there's some teams right now that have played zero top 20 teams that are currently ranked zero ranked teams throughout their entire. It's like so you got a lot of people wondering like so if you play Gumpy Connor and Ty.
Gumpy
Wow.
Pat McAfee
And you win, that's good for the record. But like reality a situation, what is the best team? So just like what has been said a few times around this 12 team playoff when it was just four teams, there was only a couple teams that could be pissed. Georgia one of them. Last year obviously they weren't allowed to be because Florida State was more mad than they were. But now with the 12 team playoff, it's like more people are going to be pissed I think. And it's, that's the drama. That's the negative side of it. The positive side obviously is we have a real playoff where people have to really go and get a national championship. So it's good, it's bad. And this Georgia team is obviously right in the middle of it and they had the number one strength schedule in the country. And I think a lot of people are wondering like are we going to punish them for playing big games? Because that's going to set a precedent in the future, you know that teams are going to not want to do that. You know it's, it's fascinating when a fascinating time for college ball with this first year of the 12 team playoff.
Gumpy
AJ well and that's why like Indiana too, Pat is Such an interesting conference conversation. Because, like, if that Ohio State game does turn into a blowout, like, that is one of those teams where it's like, well, Indiana didn't play anybody. I don't think they've played anybody in the top 25. At least. You know, when they end up, Nebraska.
Pat McAfee
Is the only team that they played that's above.500. Yeah.
Gumpy
So it's one of those things, too, where they. They obviously want to win the game, but they're. They're just looking to keep it close at this point, because if they don't keep it close, then it's. The entire conversation around Indiana is, well, the only real team they played. They got absolutely destroyed by.
Pat McAfee
Well, and that's not Indiana's fault either.
A.J. Hawk
No, no.
Pat McAfee
Right. Like, it's not so. There's, like, so many different. You know, it just. It's never ending, you know, because, like, is that Indiana. What if Indiana just has a bad game, though?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, exactly.
Pat McAfee
What if Indiana has a bad game against Ohio State and then. Well, the only team they had to play that was. It's like Texas. Texas really hasn't. You know, Georgia is really the only team that they've had to play. That's great. And what happened, you know, so it's like, there's so many of these discussions that are ahead. I am so thankful that I am not on the committee. Yeah.
Connor
I think what a lot of people want is, like, I think the SEC plays eight conference games right now, and there's 16 teams in the conference. I think a lot of people want just play 10 conference games. If you're in the Big Ten. If you're in the SEC, make sure you play, like, 10 conference games, Big 12, nine, whatever it is, so that you don't have to. To play, like, the cupcake now.
Pat McAfee
No.
Connor
No offense to Maxion or whatever.
Dana White
Like the opening.
A.J. Hawk
Like the games you play early in the season, Correct.
Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Like.
Connor
Like, those can be. Those could be conference games instead of.
A.J. Hawk
But can they ever mandate, like, how you make. How you schedule?
Connor
They can. Like, the SEC can say, hey, you're. You're playing. You're playing 10 conference games instead of eight.
A.J. Hawk
But why would the Big Ten get on board with that?
Pat McAfee
Why?
Connor
I don't know. I mean, why wouldn't they?
A.J. Hawk
I'm saying if you're. If you're scheduling for a squad, you want to schedule. I mean, as easy as you can, you want wins.
Pat McAfee
Well, depending upon how this goes.
Connor
Correct.
Pat McAfee
So depending upon how this goes, like, if the teams, like, let's say you know, in the sec, there's like, I guess, eight teams that could possibly end up. Yeah, that's so many. They're loaded. If there's eight teams that could possibly be in it for the SEC championship, and if you win the SEC championship or any championship in the Power 4, you're obviously automatically in. And then what to do with everybody else, it's like who the committee decides to reward will be a big tell on what the future looks like, I think, for these schools and teams and what their schedules look like and who they decide to play and who they don't like. Georgia has by far the toughest by far. Like not even now, granted. They lose a couple of those games though. So Alabama beats them. But at the end of that game, Georgia made that a game. They come back and do the entire thing. Ole Ms. Beats 28:10 last week. Like, obviously that's the worst loss. I think that Kirby Smart and this Georgia team in however many years has happened. But it's like Ole Miss has a chance to be in a college football playoff. Alabama going to be in a college football playoff. It's not like they lost to like Northern Illinois. No offense, Notre Dame.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
So like there is so much. It's a never ending one of these and they're never going to be able to get it right. And I'm, I think we're all just very thankful we don't have to make the decision. Well, and that is, that is, that.
Tone Diggs
Is one of the drawbacks of when they expanded the conferences like that. Like you when you get 20 teams in a conference, like we talked about this with the Big Ten at the start of the year with Indiana, Nebraska and Iowa, it's like, okay, this might not happen every year, but the way their schedule shakes out, like they, they play eight of the 10 bottom teams in the Big Ten. So like, if there ever is a year where they could squeak into the playoff, it'd be a year like this. And you know, like that. That's just, I mean, as more and more teams go into these conferences, like there is a possibility that that happens.
Pat McAfee
I, I'm fascinated what happens with the Big Ten too, man, because you start looking at strength to schedule up there. You know, everybody's saying sec, big 10, two power. It's like, okay, you know, there, there is. And then Big 12 obviously has an automatic bid. Yes, they have. The champion of the Big 12 is going to be in. I don't know why.
A.J. Hawk
Connor's question.
Gumpy
Well, isn't, isn't that. Didn't we look this up, or are we sure it's the Big 12 champion? Are we positive that that's the case.
Pat McAfee
Or could you fathom in the first year of the 12 team playoff, they don't have one of the Power 4 programs champions in, and they have, like, the American and the Mountain west champion over time. It would be chaos.
Connor
Can't do it.
Pat McAfee
It'd be full.
A.J. Hawk
Could it happen?
Gumpy
Technically, yes, it can happen. If West Virginia WINS the Big 12, which they still can.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Gumpy
Then there's a very high chance that the Big 12 champion does make the College Football Playoff.
Pat McAfee
Okay, listen, we don't know that school.
Tone Diggs
That's the.
Gumpy
Well, the reality is that is that situation right there.
Pat McAfee
How about McGee? Dude, I was.
Connor
I was saying during the break, like, we could have the biggest superstar in the world on the show. They're not gonna get the pop that.
Pat McAfee
Marty and McGee just got.
Connor
That's just not.
Dana White
That's.
Pat McAfee
Did you see me? I literally. I froze up. I was spraying myself with sunscreen. It was like a movie. I just stopped it and I was like, Holy, that's McGee.
Gumpy
I thought it was Peyton Manning. I'm dead serious. I thought it was Peyton Manning just walking up.
Pat McAfee
It turns out even better, it wasn't.
Dana White
Yeah.
Gumpy
Amen.
Pat McAfee
What are we even talking about here? Okay, so week 11 of the NFL season kicked off last night. I believe Coach Saban is currently in traffic on his way over here. It is these college towns. I think that's because. Are there more drivers?
Connor
That's just Georgia messing with them. Well, they're just planting cars so Saban can't get anywhere.
Pat McAfee
Well, but it's everywhere. It's not just here. It's. Every town has become parking lots on the roads. I don't know how anybody gets to the game. I don't know how.
A.J. Hawk
Like, they get there on Thursday night, Friday morning, you park far, you walk in. I don't know. You get dropped off. I know. I don't. I don't get it, man. I know you out of state. Some people you park a bike and walk in. Like Smart Columbus. Do all kind of stuff. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
That's not a bad play.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Pretty hilly, Donnie. I didn't expect this place to be as hilly as it is. And obviously I've been here before. I guess I don't remember.
A.J. Hawk
Just last year.
Gumpy
Yep.
Pat McAfee
You know what's that? Coming down the track.
A.J. Hawk
No, no, I know for your game days with the. That was the end.
Pat McAfee
No, no. Yeah. Same thing with Luke Bryan. Yeah. Oh, wow.
A.J. Hawk
It was all missed that Was just last year.
Pat McAfee
Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey. And then I picked Tennessee, right? Yeah. Yep. Yeah. In Luke Bryan's face. Because they like whiskey in Tennessee. So I do that here. And then at the SEC championship, I do the whole song. And.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I think it's gonna be a long morning for me tomorrow. I think it's gonna be. I think there's a chance. I think there's a chance tomorrow morning's gonna be a long one, but that's okay. I need that.
A.J. Hawk
Coach said, they think you got a man crush on Dan Landon.
Pat McAfee
How could you not? Okay. And Coach Kirby Smart. I got a man crush on you, too. You know, I don't mind seeing national championship rings in a wild. You know, not a lot of people have those. You don't just fall into those. And we talk about culture, obviously, with Coach Sirianni earlier, the culture this guy has, he's like, everybody likes bloody Tuesdays. It's like, no, coach, that. That is. That is not true. And getting your guys to buy into that in 2024 with the nil and everything, that could potentially distract you to be like, no, we are a. We're gonna fight you. That's who we are. Now, granted, they have a couple losses this year, obviously very different than years past, but it's like any. If Georgia was to get into the playoffs, which would be wild, if they didn't for two years in a row, that'd be wild to think. But if they were to get in, no team wants to play him.
A.J. Hawk
No way.
Pat McAfee
You know, like, no team wants to play Georgia. Even with Carson Beck doing and playing, how he's kind of playing. And I appreciate him saying, being positive to Carson and everything like that, but it's like nobody wants to stare down this Georgia Bulldog team. And it's because of the culture, the. The vibe, the physicality, the toughness. It's just like college ball is cooking right now. And tomorrow is a big day of, like, don't lose to the absolute crop. Teams who have don't much to play for except for happiness in the off season that they knocked off a top team, which could be a very big motivator. AJ People forget that.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, no. Yeah. It can carry you through the off season. Sometimes you have a big win like that. This like Oregon at Wisconsin, 13 and a half points. Like, obviously, Wisconsin is underperformed, most likely this year, you'd say, but Colorado, Utah, that's an interesting game to me. I know. Utah, you know, I mean, Colorado has to keep it up. It's an Absolute game. If they want a chance, they have to win that one.
Pat McAfee
So in that particular game, you know, Utah comes off that heartbreaker last week against BYU where Gumpy told me he thinks in real time. I watched the film, I didn't see it in real time. I wasn't up. But obviously Gumpy doesn't sleep. He was up for it. He thinks that that 11 play drive that BYU had at the end of the game was like 45 minutes in real time.
Gumpy
Obviously took forever.
Connor
It was.
Pat McAfee
There was two calls in there that the Utah AD and everybody during that to extend drives that people are pissed off about. But it's like the way Utah lost last week in the holy war, you would think could be a motivator for them. And what they're good at is deep pass defense, which is what Colorado obviously is phenomenal at offensively. But this Utah offense is not, you know, they're going to have to keep up with sh door and it's like, I think that's going to be tough. So I think Colorado handles business. I think Oregon goes into Camp Randall handles business. You think everybody that has a chance to make it in the playoff handles business. But tomorrow is guaranteed to have somebody ruin somebody's season. Like that is just. That's how college football has been and I think that's how college ball will be tomorrow. Speaking of, we got to set up because go to college ball just showed up.
Gumpy
Yeah, like that, that Texas game. And you've talked about this before too. Like when it's a noon game and you are Texas, who've played a lot of big games, but they got to wake up for a noon game in Arkansas. Who knows what the weather is. But like if that's not sold out. Trying to bring your own juice. You've brought this up like that. That's one that I would look at. Like maybe the Razorbacks, who have. They've played some pretty good teams. Pretty close too, right? I don't know if I'm remembering that. Yeah, like they've played pretty well throughout the season. Who knows if you know, they can get it done versus Texas. But that's one that I would look for because you know, Oregon night game and Camp Randall, you've mentioned, that's just a great atmosphere.
Pat McAfee
They're going to be up for that.
Connor
Luckily for Texas, I think they played in like 20, 21 in Arkansas, beat them pretty bad. And there's like, I think Sark said a bunch or a few starters still remember that. So okay, they still have that at.
Pat McAfee
Least Pat you back, boys?
A.J. Hawk
Okay, good.
Pat McAfee
Ladies and gentlemen, the greatest of all time, Nick Saban. Yeah, Coach.
Dana White
Hey, thanks, guys.
Pat McAfee
Coach, they were just talking. I think I learned this this morning in the production room as well. Connor, I heard what you said about that Arkansas, Texas thing, bringing your own. Arkansas hates Texas. I did not know that. I had no. That's a huge.
Gumpy
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Like, that's a huge thing. I guess I just learned that this morning. I'm gonna look into that for the rest of the day. I had no idea that Arkansas hated. But it feels like around the SEC there's so many of these types of things.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Dana White
I think, you know, sometimes you get these inferiority complex. I always felt like when I was at Michigan State, we had that sort of hatred for Michigan because of that, you know, they were supposed to be more elite than we were, and we were always trying to prove that we were just as good. So I think you're going to get that, you know, in this Arkansas, Texas game. And, you know, there's some of that throughout the league, you know, because you got the schools that have the big names and, you know, like Georgia, you know, Alabama, Tennessee, but then you got some others that wish they were.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, absolutely. And rivalries can potentially be a lot more hate from one side than the other. And then that can catch up to you. You know, obviously, that is something that could happen in college ball. A lot of games that could go either way and ruin some seasons. Let's talk about this one, though. We just had Kirby smart on, and he obviously comes from your universe. Listening to him talk, it was like listening to you speak. You have a lot of respect for Kirby, obviously. Always have, always will. What do you think about him as a coach and his program and what they're staring down right now? Very different season for him, it feels like.
Dana White
Well, I think Kirby's done a fantastic job. He's one of the best coaches we ever had on our staff. I mean, he did a great job with our defense for many, many years. He's a good recruiter. He has got great relationship with the kids, and he's a really good teacher, so. And I think the job that he's done here at Georgia now, he took over a program here at Georgia that was totally in the tank, but the way he's been able to elevate that program through really, really good recruiting. But I think one of the things that people don't really realize that when you recruit really well in this day and age, sometimes it hurts you. In other words, we did at Alabama he's done that at Georgia. So you recruit really well. You got these high profile players who are good players, but their expectation is they want to play very quickly. So if they don't play very quickly, then they want to transfer. So maybe they're the second best guy. You got an inside linebacker now you got to play the third best guy because the second best guy is going. And how many twos can you get out of the portal? Because most people in the portal want to go someplace where they can play. So that's kind of a. That's kind of a, I don't know, a circumstance that I don't think many people really kind of grasp that when you recruit well, it actually can hurt you a little bit down the road.
Pat McAfee
What is it called? Caviar. Caviar problem. That sounds like champagne problems is what a lot of people will say, right, because of being able to get that many recruits and have that deep of a roster. But I think what I've learned from you, talking about how you recruited in the pitch that you gave from guys that played Alabama that I've known, it's like you were very upfront with people saying, hey, this is how this works. You're going to come in here, you're going to compete against the best in the country. You might not play for three years, but every single day you're going to be playing against the best. And if you want to make it to the NFL, this is the place to do it. Kirby has done that here. We watched Philadelphia Eagles last night. They're the Philadelphia Bulldogs.
Dana White
I mean, they got a bunch of them.
Pat McAfee
They got them all over the place. So it's like, I think that's a good selling point. Do you think Kirby has done a great job with that and do you think that's one of the pieces of why Georgia has been able to keep and get so many recruits?
Dana White
Yeah, I think it is. Because I think that's very similar to what we always try to sell Alabama was development, that when you play, you're going to play well and that's what's going to create opportunity for you. So don't worry about playing as a freshman because you may even play too early, and if you're not ready to play and be productive, that could actually hurt you. So let's focus on your development. You know, how good can you be? And then when you play, you're ready to take advantage of your opportunity and then you're going to get drafted. And just like right now we have 61 players from Alabama in the league. George is probably next, but 61.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Right now.
Dana White
Yeah, right now. So. But that helps you get the next guy. That helps you get the next guy. Because every one of these guys want to play in the NFL someday.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Dana White
So that's a huge selling point in recruiting. And Georgia has done a phenomenal job of that. And probably in the last three years, they've had more guys drafted than even Alabama.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So I think it was $1 billion in contracts this off season. Alabama player signed and 61 right now is just, I bet you what, 9. AJ 95% of the programs in the country don't have 61 in the history, no way of. Of their program to get to the NF. I assume legitimately that's.
A.J. Hawk
I would guess that 61 current is just mind blowing to think of coach when you. Like, has that always been a thing when you're recruiting, promoting these NFL guys? I know it always was a big deal. Okay, I want to go there. I see these guys in the NFL from, say, me, an Ohio kid. They went to Ohio state. But like 20, 25 years ago, was it as big a push, like, hey, look, this is. We are. You come here. We are like a stepping stone to get you to the league pipeline.
Dana White
Yeah. But I don't think we ever had that until we got to lsu. You know, we never had that at Michigan State because we couldn't get all the high profile guys to go to school there. So we had to sell, you know, development that, you know, you're going to play and we can do well and you got something to prove here. So we weren't getting the elite player, but at LSU we did, and it started there. And that's where we kind of learned that we can use this whole NFL dream that most young players have as a motivating factor for us in recruiting. So. And it worked out well.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but you got to be able to actually develop and coach, you know, so not everybody can say, hey, I'll get you to the NFL, but obviously they can't coach.
Dana White
But when you develop a track record of doing it, then that is a huge selling.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. You got to be able to legitimize yourself. There's a scoreboard in 61 current.
A.J. Hawk
I mind, but they get plays, Pat. That's the thing. These guys get to the league, and if they don't make plays and you don't hear from them, you're not getting recruits.
Dana White
Like, they're.
A.J. Hawk
You got guys like all pros. They're all pros making plays. Every single week on prime time. That's the biggest thing, I think.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we saw devonte last night, obviously going bananas. The. Let's talk about Georgia now again. Let's do this because this is something I think every SEC fan in SEC person is going to talk about over the next few weeks as this College Football Playoff thing continues to go. Their losses are against top five schools. Right. Who are still top five. Not like at the time it was this. And then they end up not being good. It's like this first 12 team playoff. I think you've been one of the first persons to say it. It's like a lot more people are potentially going to be upset because there's a lot more hope. Tomorrow is an elimination game for Georgia and their losses would be what? Ole Miss, Alabama and then Tennessee. Those are all top 10 teams. There's some teams that might get in that haven't even played a top 10 team or even been in the same state as a top 10 team. What are your thoughts on it and how do you think Georgia does tomorrow against a very good Tennessee team?
Dana White
Well, I think Georgia's beat up a little bit. They've had some injury guys, you know, that haven't been able to play for them consistently on defense. But I tell you what, Tennessee is a good football team. They're running the ball more. But their defense, man, I don't think people talk about their defense that much. I mean, how many teams have not given up 19 points so far this season? Their defense is phenomenal.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Dana White
And they, I think they've played you, you know, behind their defense a little bit, and that's why they're running the ball more, shrinking the game, not scoring as many points, not making as many explosive plays. I'm talking about Tennessee now, but Georgia has played them well. And I think when you play this team, how you prepare for them is really important. But on the big picture side of it, you know, I just don't think that people are taking enough account into what is your strength of schedule. Who did you play? Who did you beat? Who did you lose to? This is the fifth top 20 team that Georgia has played. You know, Texas played one and they got beat by them, which was Georgia. All right, so. And you know, we could go through every team, but I think it's not just I'm undefeated or I lost one game, it's who did you lose to? Who did you play? Who did you beat? You know, I like the way they do it in basketball. You know, they got this RPI rating or whatever they call it. And you beat so many good teams, that means something. Yeah, well, we need to do that in football and not just look at the record.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so this is the first year for the 12 team playoff and obviously with the CFP rolling out, there's been a lot of emotion about, hey, even Reese Davis I think at the time said they're obviously putting emphasis on wins as opposed to who, where, how, why and everything like that. Is that going to be something that's just going to be battled forever? You think? How do you, how do you sort that out, you think?
Dana White
No, I, I think we'll gradually move in the right direction. I don't know if it's going to happen this year, but the other big question is how are they going to factor in these championship games? Like there's a potential of eight teams that could be a two loss team in the sec, for example. Now they probably end up being six or something, but only two of them are going to play in the SEC championship game. So that means that three or four other teams could have sat home with two losses and not played. And then you get beat and you get eliminated in the SEC championship game and somebody else comes in and plays and they didn't do anything. So I mean, a lot of these things have to be factored into it.
Pat McAfee
In terms of shit. There is so much shit that could possibly happen.
Dana White
But here's the one good thing I don't think you're going to have the situation that we had in the past where you had a 15 that didn't get in like two years ago, we didn't get in as a 15. TCU got in instead of us. You know, last year Florida State didn't get in as a fifth team. They're undefeated. All right, so I don't think you're going to have that. I think they'll get the best five or six teams in. All right, but it's going to be hell to pay now for them other six teams to get in there. And who doesn't get in?
Pat McAfee
AP Tone has a question for you. Amen. Yeah.
Connor
Coach Kirby was kind of talking about, you know, the voters, they don't know about the environments that we're playing in, stuff like that. And twice now on the road at Kentucky and at Ole Miss, their offenses, to be kind, looked like they're over under. It has, I mean, they're over under. They're over under TE. Total to score tomorrow is 29 and a half points. Does coming home like just cut and playing in Front of your own fans. Does that fix what your offense has been going through, especially against a Tennessee defense that you talked about has been really, really good?
Gumpy
Yeah.
Dana White
Well, I think that's going to be the key to the game. How does Tennessee's front match up with Georgia's offensive line who struggled against Ole Miss? Now, I don't think they've struggled all year, but they certainly struggled against a really good front at Ole Miss. And Tennessee's got a really good front, so that's going to be a key matchup in this game. But I do think that it is really, really hard to play on the road in this league. Tennessee is a hard place to play. LSU is a hard place to play. A and M is a hard place to play. So noise does create a problem for the offense. So some teams are impacted by that. Some teams are not. But when you're a passing team and you can't keep the defense honest and they can jump that snap count and pass rush and put a lot of pressure on your offensive tackles, that really is a problem. And it was a problem last week, you know, for Georgia at Ole Miss.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we. I had a chance to play alongside Dwight Freenia, Robert Mathis, and at home, end of games, they're off the ball quicker than the tackles are because it's dead, you know, and boom, tackle can't hear the cadence and bang, it's over. I mean, those are the closers. And in the sec, everybody has closers at defensive end. So I think that's why the environment is so crazy. But also, some of these places, you know, if you're not ready, you could get intoxicated, like secondhand intoxication, you know, it's true. Like down there. Hey, yeah, that. Hey, that Louisiana was wild. That was a wild place.
Dana White
Oh, yeah, it's a wild place. Those people celebrate life. They're great people. They have fun and, you know, they like to have their party time before the game. There is no question about that.
Pat McAfee
I appreciated that they showed you respect. Did you feel that? Did you get a chance to take.
Dana White
Oh, yeah. The people treated me great there and I appreciate that. You know, Terry and I love it there. You know, he probably made a mistake going back to pro ball from there, but the only way we could get back to college was to go back to Alabama and boom. But that's a great rivalry. You know, the lsu, Alabama is a great rivalry and. But, you know, it's an odd thing that the home team does not have an advantage in that series.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Dana White
What's that all about, you know, I can't figure it out. You know, when we, when I was a coach at LSU and we beat Alabama, it was the first time in like 30 years that LSU beat Alabama in Baton Rouge, that LSU beat Alabama. And our record was 6 and 2 going there and playing, of course, and it's 30, 10 and 2 all time in the favor of the visiting team. And for a hard place to play in a terrible, I mean, that's a hard environment to play in. But the fans, you know, they all left the game. So, you know, Malachi Moore shows me a picture because I always do tell the players, when we play on the road, you got to make the fans sit on their hands so it won't be a hard place to play. And then when they leave, you know, you defeated them, you defeated them. You just didn't win the game. You defeated them. And he shows me a picture of the stadium at the end of the LSU game.
Pat McAfee
Empty.
Dana White
And it was empty. And you know, Dan Lanning did that at Michigan. But that's what, that's the mentality you have to have when you play on the road in these hard places to play. You know, we're going to defeat the whole, the whole, not just the team, the whole place.
Pat McAfee
I don't know if anybody's going to defeat the state of Louisiana. I mean, that place, that live Tiger, coach, I mean, that thing, that thing was ready for the show. You know, Governor Jeff Landry is not happy that that Tiger was the only one showed up. He said that was the only Tiger that showed up that day. LSU can still win the sec. I mean, everything is still wide open right now. It's bananas. Connor has a question for you, coach.
Gumpy
Yeah, coach, on the, you know, subject of the home environments, what do you think about the teams that are getting buys in the College Football Playoff not getting that opportunity to have a home playoff game? Do you think there's a chance, you know, going forward, especially when it goes to 14 teams, that maybe, you know, the home games carry over to the second round, possibly, possibly even the third round, because we've talked about it. It's almost as if they're punished and they don't get that opportunity to play a playoff game in front of their home teams?
Dana White
Yeah, well, you know, I think that we have the system that we have because it's the only way that we could get to a 12 team playoff. You know, some of these conferences weren't going to buy into this unless they got a guaranteed championship spot in the playoffs in the top four with a buy. And most people would look at the buy as just like in the NFL, when you play well enough and have a good enough record that you get a buy. It helps you at that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Bonus.
Dana White
That part of rest period, people heal up. It's been a long season. Fresh yourself emotionally because you got all these games in a row. So most people would look at that as a bonus. I personally think that it would have been much better if we gave the best four teams a bye and ranked them one through four, rather than saying, win a conference championship gets you a bye. So that, you know, you could have won the championship and still had a home game like you're talking about. Because I do think that's going to be a big thing. It's going to be a big ad to have a big game at home. If you're five through eight, I guess you get a home game. And a lot of people are talking about that out there. That, you know, can we get to eight so that we can have another home game? Because there's a lot of passion for college football and people look forward to those games.
Pat McAfee
Well, it's not only that, I think for the good of college ball, and I know you're the greatest of all time. You've lived in college ball. But for people that maybe didn't follow the entire college football season or don't follow college football at all, they hear a college football playoff, they're going to watch. And I think one of the things that makes college football special is the environment.
Dana White
Yes, no doubt.
Pat McAfee
So it's going to be on Showcase, I think, for the first time, really, because all these other big games have been neutral. Site games, bowl games, this whole thing. So I think there's gonna be a lot of people that get introduced to, like, what college ball is. We need more of that, I think, because that's what separates from every other sport, even the soccer. So we talked about this. College football fans, greatest fans, I think, in the world for anything. Soccer players or soccer fans. In Europe, people talk about, like the hooligans.
Dana White
Hooligans.
Pat McAfee
Their stadiums average like 35,000, 40,000. This is 92,000, 746, 102,000, whatever it was last week. Like, these are the greatest fans and the most passionate fans in all of sport. Us showcasing that is a good thing. I think we should do more of that. Yeah.
Dana White
And I think somebody needs to decide that beside the coaches. Because I'll be honest with you, when I was at Alabama, I wasn't for Playing home and home, you know, in the playoffs, because I didn't want to go to Wisconsin or Penn State, State or Ohio State or someplace in December or January. If I could have guaranteed that they come to Alabama, I'd have been fine with that now. But when you look at it from a thousand feet, like I do now, and I'm not coaching a team and looking for an advantage, I think you're exactly right. There's so much passion for football and all these places to have an extra home game I think is fantastic.
Pat McAfee
It's a showcase. It's a showcase of the pageantry. Tie as question for you back in the Thunderdome.
Tone Diggs
Yeah, Coach. Going back to the strength of schedule discussion, obviously I don't think you ever had this situation because your teams are always battle tested in the sec, but do you think for some of these teams who don't have that good strength schedule, there's almost like a sense of imposter syndrome, you know, when you're, you're not playing anybody and then you get in the playoff and it's like, okay, now, now we really have to go. Like, Manti Teo just told a story on Good Morning Football the other day about when you guys played Notre Dame in the national championship, you know, and they thought they were great and they were the home team getting ready to come out for warmups, and he was in the tunnel and they had to wait and you guys came, you know, right around them. And at that moment when you guys came out, he realized, like he said he would, you know, look back at his teammates and kind of just felt the life leave their bodies. And it was like, oh, shit, here we go. Like, this is a different animal. Like, do you, do you think there's any sense of that with any of these teams who haven't really played anybody this year?
Dana White
Well, I will only say that I think playing against really good competition helps to elevate your team to a better level. And I think everybody's going to play to the level of the competition. I don't think it should be that way. Everybody should be playing to their capabilities, but it's human nature. So when you're not used to doing that and you're not playing against great competition, I don't think you're going to develop as a team like you could. And I think when you, when that hits you in the face, it's going to be a problem. I don't think there's any question about that. So I do think playing a better schedule is going to be Beneficial to the teams that get in the playoff who have played a tougher schedule.
Pat McAfee
Calloused, you know, the we. I talked to Kirby about that earlier. Like, I asked him if he feels like his team is callous. He's like, yeah, I feel like we are callous, but they're also injured, he said, which a tough schedule and tough environments and great opponents that can also lead into it. But there is a chance. Some of these first round games are, you know, absolute blowouts. There's a chance. There's a chance that it's going to get ugly. It could.
Dana White
But the one thing that you develop is your team develops confidence. You know, there was a time when me as a coach, like when I was at Michigan State and we'd have to go out to play Ohio State or Michigan or whatever. Deep down inside, I gotta be honest, I never thought we had a very good chance to win. But when we beat teams at lsu, when we beat teams and won the SEC championship or we got in the playoffs, I always thought we could win. And the players always thought we could win because we'd beaten four or five other teams like that. You know, there was one year we played nine top 25 teams in one season. We were in a counting playoff teams and everybody that we played so. And we won most of those games. So when we went in the game, the players thought that they could win. They were confident because they'd played against that kind of competition and had success. And I think that's going to be important for some of these teams in the playoffs.
Pat McAfee
Hey, why do you think coach Saban is so much about the strength of schedule? Do you hear what he had do on your nine, nine ranked teams? I couldn't even imagine. And then you see some teams who's played nobody get in a spot every year like, okay, all right. Yeah, that's real life. I think you were one of the ones who said about one of your teams. How come I. The sportsbooks have come out and said that if we were to play any of these teams, we'd be two touchdown favorites. But we're not in and they are. Okay, make it make sense. We're going to run into that again. We're going to.
Dana White
No, absolutely. There's going to be a lot of that and there's going to be some teams that don't get in. That Vegas is going to put the line on the team that got in and that team's going to be better than that. Yeah, inevitable.
Pat McAfee
Inevitable. And I'll tell you what, Ohio State's one of those teams too, AJ it feels like you guys are up there in discussions. Go on a damn run. Got a weekend ahead of you though, next week with Indiana coming to town.
A.J. Hawk
Oh yeah.
Pat McAfee
Okay, let's not get too, let's not get too confident.
A.J. Hawk
Northwestern this week back. We're worried about Northwestern. Yeah, at Wrigley. It's going to be a good one. But coach, last week I wanted to ask, we had Brian kelly on from LSU and he said he was hosting 300 recruits on that weekend. Bunch of big time guys and then they end up, it's not a great game for them obviously. And you lose and he loses. What happened? Like when you're hosting all those recruits, how, how nice is it to actually win those games, I would imagine when you have all those guys and what do you say if you do speak to anyone after the game when you lose, when you have 300 plus recruits?
Dana White
But you know, that's tough to explain. It's really tough to explain. But I was even saying on the way over here how much easier it was to play on the road from my coaching load standpoint. So if you had 300 recruits in there, AJ who talked to those guys while they were there? The coaches had to talk to them, the head coach had to talk to them. I mean, so you're spending so much time on Friday and Saturday record recruiting, it takes away from your focus on the game. And then you're asking a player, hey man, why don't you come over and say hi to this, you know, recruit? So instead of him focused on the game, he's worried about recruiting. When you play on the road, you don't have any of that. Plus I used to have to go to Nick at noon and speak to everybody when we had a home game.
A.J. Hawk
What is that exactly?
Dana White
I mean, I hated that. To spend 12 to 1 on Friday before big game and you're speaking to these alums. I enjoyed doing it, don't get me wrong. But it took away from. And then you leave that and you gotta go talk to some recruits. And I used to have trouble getting dressed in time to go out for warmups when we had big home games because I had so many recruits to talk to in my office, you know, in the stadium, in the locker room. I was hustling to get dressed to be on time for warmups. So it can be a distraction. But if you're going to have a good team, you got to do a good job of recruiting. Like you've heard me say so many times. I never Learned how to. How to coach bad players to play good.
Pat McAfee
Yep.
Dana White
Never. Never learned that.
Pat McAfee
Gotta coach the good ones to make them even better.
Dana White
That's right. And that's. That's what I like doing.
Pat McAfee
So when you're getting back into coaching, or is that what it sounds like? Sounds like you're really missing in all those days.
Dana White
No, I love coming here and talking.
Pat McAfee
Nah. Nick at noon.
A.J. Hawk
You know what?
Dana White
Aj, he's an Ohio State Buckeye. Is that correct?
A.J. Hawk
Absolutely.
Dana White
All right. So you worried about Northwestern this week?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Dana White
You know, when I coached at Ohio State, just to show you how the culture has changed, and we played him the week before we played Michigan. We never even practiced. I was a secondary coach and I couldn't even sleep at night because Dennis Green was a coach at Northwestern and they had all kind of formations and stuff. And I'm saying we're not going to be able to get lined up. We practiced for Michigan the whole week, won the game, 69, nothing. And you worried about the game. That's how the culture at Ohio State's changed.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, man. Yeah.
Connor
AJ's lying, by the way. He's not worried about Northwestern.
Pat McAfee
What do you mean? You didn't practice? You were practicing from Michigan.
Dana White
Yeah, we practiced Michigan's plays. We didn't practice. Northwestern practice all week. Well, aj, I can't believe it, man.
Pat McAfee
So you tell me. You were up. So you were up at night going, what are we. Are we going to prepare for this?
Dana White
Yeah, I was worried about not being prepared for what Northwestern would be very similar to what AJ is. And we've won anyway.
Pat McAfee
God, 60, not just one.
Dana White
Yeah, it was a dominating performance.
Pat McAfee
All right, let's talk about one of your former players. It's obviously been a storyline throughout the entire NFL season, Tuatong Valoa. And we had a chance to talk to you after the Thursday night game where everything went, and you talked about how, you know, you talk to him, he's in good spirits, and then it's going to be a medical decision. Pray, everything like that. Now he's back. Did you see him tackle. Did you see him tackle this guy this past weekend, led with his head to tackle a guy?
Dana White
No. I missed that?
Pat McAfee
No. Well, good, because I think if you, like, have genuine care and love for him, you would definitely get worried. We all were like this. He came out and gave an answer. He was like, I'm playing football, man. Like, what do you want from me? You just knew Tua was a dog whenever you met him. And it's like, I think every Team wish. Look, here it is right here. I don't want to. He's number one, obviously, on the right side of the screen. He threw an interception. He goes down, he gets kneed in the side of the head. Okay. Makes a tackle. Great tackle, One tackle stat and everything. And he. He has the game that he has. They win, they now they're potentially back in a playoff. So it's like, you know, a big convo. But his answer was like, I'm a football player. I don't know what you want. I threw a pick. I shouldn't throw a pick is the bigger conversation as opposed to the tackle. It's like every team on earth wishes that they have a guy like that.
Dana White
Right?
Pat McAfee
It feels like that's going to be Tua, literally, until he's done playing football.
Dana White
Well, let me say this about Tua, and I had several conversations with him. Every time that he got hurt at Alabama, he had tightrope on his ankle. And then everybody knows about him hurting his hip, but every time he got hurt, there was no play to be made.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dana White
You know what I mean? I mean, the play broke down. He's scrambling. I mean, when he breaks his hip, Ruggs falls down. There's not even anybody on that side of the field to throw it, to just throw the ball away. You don't have to put yourself in harm's way. But he is such a competitor. And I mean in a good way.
Pat McAfee
Yes.
Dana White
I mean, and he's a team guy, in a good way, that he's going to do whatever it takes to win. I don't. I don't think that he's ever going to think about. I'm protecting myself. He never has. I don't think he ever will. And you have to appreciate that because that's what great competitors do. I mean, and that's not a bad thing. But we don't want to see the guy get hurt. So sometimes you wish that, you know, maybe he would protect himself a little bit.
Pat McAfee
Some guys just can't flip the switch. And those are the ones that end up being, you know, the greatest, like.
Dana White
That's right.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, those are the ones. Speaking of the ones. That's you, brother. Hey, can we tell him, you know, because he's got film room. He's hosting segs. He's hosting segs and filming seg.
Gumpy
They crush, too.
Pat McAfee
They crush. Yeah. Like, you're doing a great job, man. You should know that. You. Hey, boys. I think he deserves one.
Dana White
This is my best tutor right here. He's Teaching me?
Pat McAfee
No, you're real deal, dude, in the way you're breaking down football. Easy to understand, but high level. It's like you have absolutely crushed it in the amount of commitment you have towards it. You know, like today you're gonna go film something and then you have film and then you setting things up from. It's like you've been awesome to watch work and you should be very. Now, obviously you're the goat in your hall of fame. Whatever hall of fame you want to go into, you can go into. But I would like to let you know, you should be proud of yourself.
Dana White
I appreciate it. But you know, I think one of the things that's helped me in this quite a bit is first of all, we have a great team of guys who are helpful. But the second thing is, in the 25 years or however many years I was a head coach, you know, you speak to a lot of alumni groups and you explain football to them and you kind of learn how to explain it in a better way. And, you know, we had this thing when I went to LSU called the Bingo Bells. All right. There was like 600 women in an organization. Bingle bells. Okay, okay. All right. So they say you have to go talk to this ladies group called the Bengals bell, 600 of them. I said, oh, man, I've never talked to a ladies group before. You know, I talk to a lot of alumni groups, a lot of guys about football. So I go and I'm being very, very kind, very, very polite. And this is, you know, they weren't very good. I think they were 3 and 8 the year before. Not very good on defense. So when I get done, I says, anybody want to ask any questions? So there's look like this 70 year old lady, you know, sitting in the back of the room. She's about 5 foot 2, gray hair. She gets up and she says, are we gonna get up and play bump and run on any of these guys? Are we gonna play that soft ass coverage I've been watching? Damn, man. It's a women's group.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And it's only evolving even more. But you make me smarter. I think you make every fan smarter. And you're also smart. Damn entertaining. And we learn a new saying every week. Shit. Through a tin horn. Through a tin horn. Gold. Absolute gold. Legit, absolute gold. As soon as you say, and then obviously the food every week. You're. You're a natural, brother. You're an absolute. You should have retired 10 years ago. I should retire 10 years ago. I've been doing this TV the whole time. I don't know how many more less natties you would have but you're awesome.
Dana White
I appreciate you saying that but I'm just trying to help the people out there understand the game a little bit better. It's such a great game. It's been so good to me. I'm just thankful you're the man.
Pat McAfee
We appreciate you. Ladies and gentlemen, the go coach Saban.
A.J. Hawk
Saban's the best. He does have all those those coaches sayings especially like some been down the south for a while those southern coaches sayings that just are so fun. But we have big NFL weekend as well, don't we?
Pat McAfee
Massive.
Tone Diggs
Oh yeah absolutely massive. Probably the biggest one of the season so far.
Gumpy
Yeah I guess some of these matchups.
A.J. Hawk
Closer to the thing.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Gumpy
Comment what do you I mean huge games at every single slate obviously. Steelers, Ravens, Bills, Chiefs going to be great Sunday Football is going to be great. It's also the salute to service for the NFL. They've kind of kicked it up this.
A.J. Hawk
Month cleats and stuff or what are the players.
Gumpy
It's it's a year round thing but I believe there's some cleats on Monday they did you know someone surprised you always talk about this how emotional is. I believe a Marine surprised the family that his family at halftime of the Dolphins Rams game on Monday Night Football. They do that a lot. They're doing yeah yeah Coaches gear Chuck Pagano had one on yesterday I believe with the freedom underneath the sweatshirt and you can go to NFL.com salute you can learn more about that but that's kind of kicking up again here soon. But yeah there's great games all weekend. I can't wait for Steelers Ravens. We were talking about this before some of the promo videos that are coming out from the Steelers fans. They got me believing that the Steelers are going to go on a run and win the whole damn thing.
A.J. Hawk
Oh absolutely.
Pat McAfee
Oh mama I'm in fear for my life from the long of the law man.
A.J. Hawk
When is the hard knocks in season starting for the I have no idea. First week so they I would assume they're filming now.
Connor
I will hope so. I was hoping it was coming out this week but Connor's right. Team three put out a video today that got me believe I missed the team.
Pat McAfee
I woke up I woke up to. I don't remember if it was the first text. So we have a massive Yinzer Steeler fan that goes by a name Bones. Okay. Bones is a Hall of Fame mc. Okay so got a Chance to chat. Pittsburgh stealer time. I mean, this guy loves the Steelers, so I don't remember if it was the first text I read whenever I woke up this morning before hopping on a bird. Come down here to beautiful Athens. But one of them was the Russell Wilson video. And just the caption that was sent with that tweet from him was one of the most obnoxiously confident Steeler fan messages of all time. Tony, you guys feeling that way? It feels like the Russell Wilson experience has kind of captivated Yinzers. And we talked about this before. Russell Wilson has kind of got dogged, you know, on the Internet in the past for things that he has done. Mr. And then him walking out of his house in his clothes to the car, the Rolls Royce and like the sandwich, he wore his own jersey. And then let's ride. Like all these things, right? He obviously did to himself. When you win, nobody says anything. When you lose, it doesn't go good. You know, it gets loud. We said that if Russell Wilson go win for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Yinzers will go to bat for this guy forever. In tone, it feels like we're at that point. Are we at that point right now with Russell Wilson? Oh, we.
Connor
Russ can do no wrong right now. And when he came in, you know, there were some people that were wishy washy. And then he comes in. Couple good games. Confidence meter rises. They beat Commanders last week and he was, he threw some beautiful balls. Cut. The confidence meter rises. If, if they beat the Ravens this weekend, the confidence meter for me is going to be through the roof. I'm going to be insufferable. Yeah, there's what we know.
A.J. Hawk
We know. We know. We can feel it. Tone's got that twinkle in his eye. Twinkle in his eyes. I just don't let these Steelers get one or two more victories and he's going to be absolutely unbearable.
Connor
Well, yeah, because, I mean, there's nothing, nothing like you're. You actually truly. We say that, you know, our teams, they're going to win super bowl.
A.J. Hawk
But then you still don't believe, though.
Connor
No, I.
A.J. Hawk
No, you don't. You hope. You hope, like, oh, maybe he can do a couple more things to prove.
Pat McAfee
No, they believe, bro.
Connor
I'm at 80%. I'll be at 110% if they win this.
Pat McAfee
I've known Tone and Nick for seven years now. I've never seen a more positive about the Pittsburgh Steelers in my life. And they were 1101 season. Let's remember that. It's unbelievable.
Connor
We knew what was going to happen.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
What a time, what a time for just football as a whole, man. Best like Ravens, Steelers this weekend, Chiefs, Bills. What's the Sunday night game?
Gumpy
Bengals, Chargers.
Pat McAfee
I mean like, come on, dude. Georgia, Tennessee in a playoff elimination. Like, we're in the middle of it right now. Last night's game just like, come on, boys. And then also for sports World, Jon Jones is fighting tomorrow. Let's go. Bones is fighting tomorrow. It's like what, we're fighting Michael Chandler.
A.J. Hawk
On the card as well. Yeah, you're right. We have a great sporting weekend.
Connor
Tonight's the most, most bet on thing tonight.
Pat McAfee
The. That's what I'm saying. Jake Paul, Mike Tyson have, I mean it's just like Tyson, this is the greatest time on earth. And obviously he slapped him because Jake Paul stepped on his toes. The Internet did some research. There is a previous interview from Mike Tyson where he said he wouldn't get into UFC because he has bad feet. You know, like anybody stepping on his feet and if you were to step on his feet, he would just tap out. Jake Paul obviously does a jungle cat crawl, steps on his foot and Mike Tyson is like, nope, I don't think so. I don't think that's how this is going to go. And I will say natural hit right to the button. You know the picture.
A.J. Hawk
Mike even like take a step back and start to like counter to after he hits those with that slap. I like that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you like. It was like a. Check this, check the distance, okay. Then we're right back in that thing. And it's like I was just assuming.
A.J. Hawk
It was going for me.
Pat McAfee
I was just assuming that 58 year old Mike Tyson, okay. In a sport that revolves around body conditioning, okay, Boxing is a massive body conditioning sport. I didn't think that a 58 year old would be able to keep up with a 20 some year old. You know, he's 27, he's 58. That's 31 years of difference. That's. That's a bigger age than how old Jake Paul is. So like I just assumed that Mike Tyson wouldn't be quick enough or in shape enough or, you know, it's kind of a rouge. But then you watch that, it's like perfectly placed slap, perfectly placed quickness with the drop step. And then to your point, he was loading, he was loading.
A.J. Hawk
That thing was his instincts. Boom, here we go.
Pat McAfee
Natural born killer. He said, this is just like my life, you know? And it's like, I don't know what the hell is going to happen. I have no idea what's going to happen in that fight. I guess there's a million dollar bet on Jake Paul at minus 220. So there is. There's a lot of action. To your point, Tone, what's the public on?
Connor
The public is heavy on Tyson. Most like, mostly because he's Mike Tyson. Tyson. And he's a. He's a dog. So you're getting the plus money, heavy public action on. On Tyson in that one.
Pat McAfee
All right. All right, well, we'll. We'll make our picks. Yeah. For the weekend. We'll also pick that fight on the other side on YouTube.
A.J. Hawk
Enjoy the week. To what?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, absolutely. The power of the high five is.
Dana White
It's such a good feeling.
Pat McAfee
Today I fell in love with football. Football. Nine years old in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Nick Sirianni
Playing for The Ann Arbor Jr. Packers.
Connor
Made my first tackle and after that.
Mike Tyson
Got my first high five.
Nick Sirianni
Both fell in love with football that day.
Pat McAfee
And also, power of the high five.
Nick Sirianni
That's a great invention.
Pat McAfee
I love the high five. Oh, sing.
Mike Tyson
Yeah, we like to sing.
Gumpy
Get one here, huh?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Give each other a high five. This is what Jerry had to say about the sun potentially being a reason why CD Lamb couldn't catch a ball. By the way, we know where the sun's gonna be when we decide to flip the coin or not. So we do know where the damn sun's gonna be and our own station. We know. Enough questions.
Tone Diggs
We want me to tear the whole stadium down, Build a new one. Come on, get real.
Pat McAfee
Play pause. Play pause. God doesn't even get his head up. Okay. This dude has the worst technique I've ever seen from somebody playing this position. Those guys were fired up.
A.J. Hawk
At the end when I wasn't looking.
Pat McAfee
He got me and, man, my entire left arm went completely numb. I mean, it was like.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, it was.
Pat McAfee
It felt like an elephant trunk. I was like, are you kidding me? So then I'm leaning on Peyton and.
Kirby Smart
He'S like, look at me.
Pat McAfee
He's like, coach, you all right? He thought I was having a heart attack or something. This is on you. I got a stinger down my left. Coach, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm like, nah, we won. Don't worry about it. I'll take. Are you okay? It looks like he's out his trunk.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. Scary.
Pat McAfee
Yes. That's hilarious. All right. Tom Cruise reportedly wants Glenn Powell to replace him as a lead for Mission Impossible franchise on future installments is what Dean Snyder is reporting. We just want to call and say, congratulations, brother.
Nick Sirianni
My mom would Never let me do that.
Pat McAfee
No, that's a death trap. What's your beef with Dominic? The guy sucks. Oh, my God. You know that, though.
Connor
Is it three and a half Pony, you mutt.
Pat McAfee
I'm not doing four. It's four.
A.J. Hawk
Four to do four.
Pat McAfee
Waffler man. I'm taking Philadelphia. Oh, no. That's your brother. One hour later. Have you V. I'm really gonna bet against my blood. Oh, no. Give me the four points of the Washington command. What's your song? Paris by Jay Z and Kanye West. What? I don't think that's the name of it yet.
Dana White
Is Paris.
Pat McAfee
What does that mean? I don't understand.
A.J. Hawk
How's it going?
Pat McAfee
It gets people going. It's provocative. Yeah, see?
Dana White
So you know it.
Pat McAfee
That's the lyrics.
Gumpy
Paris, that's not the name of the song.
Pat McAfee
Whose name is the one? Connor, say it.
Gumpy
I'm okay, but I know it's not called Paris.
Pat McAfee
Pat, say the name of the song. I don't think I know what song you're talking about.
Mike Tyson
Well, you just quoted some lyrics, so it seems.
Pat McAfee
No, I was saying that as something that was like, wow, that's. Does anybody want to say the name? Get some people going.
Mike Tyson
Do you know lyrics?
Pat McAfee
That's not the lyrics. I didn't name the song, so I don't know why you're looking at me like I did Paris. Any arguments? Anybody want to argue that it's not called Paris? It's definitely not. I don't think I. So what is it called? I would love to hear. I think AJ will, actually. Yeah, aj.
A.J. Hawk
I don't even know who you're talking about. Guys, I'm sorry about it.
Pat McAfee
I see you got the Verstappen hoodie on. Are you an F1 guy? I am.
Nick Sirianni
Yeah, I am.
Pat McAfee
I'm a motorsports guy. JJ1. JJ1. JJ.
Dana White
Wow.
Pat McAfee
This guy. JJ's dad. JJ's dad. Thanks for. Thanks for. With JJ's mom. You're the best man. You know what he think about you. For he's a jolly good fellow for he's a jolly good fellow for he's a jolly good fellow With a Blake. Hand in hand. My dad works in B2B marketing. He came by my school for career day and said he was a big roas man. Then he told everyone how much he loved calculating his return on ad spend. My friends still laugh at me to this day. Not everyone gets B2B, but with LinkedIn.
Connor
You'Ll be able to reach people who.
Pat McAfee
Do get $100 credit on your next ad. Campaign. Go to LinkedIn.com campaign to claim your credit.
A.J. Hawk
That's LinkedIn.com campaign.
Pat McAfee
Terms and conditions apply.
Gumpy
LinkedIn, the place to be.
Pat McAfee
To be football.
A.J. Hawk
That's what everyone's talking about. Pat, I see you still lubing up over there.
Dana White
Smart.
A.J. Hawk
Very smart. Very smart.
Pat McAfee
I just saw myself on the screen. I'm starting to blend in with the helmet and the seats. That's expected, but obviously not great. Aj, thank you for traveling to Indianapolis to sit there. You've been doing a great job, aj. And, boys, you guys have been fantastic all week. And we know that I'm down here for Georgia and Tennessee, and the college football slate is going to be electrifying. And we know on Sunday we got massive NFL games. Tonight, there's a boxing match on Netflix between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. But tomorrow night, ladies and gentlemen, the Goat returns once again to fight the heavyweight. Great Stipe Miocic, and one of the biggest nights I think the UFC can have any year, any time. Johnny Bones Jones is back fighting, as is Mike Chandler. Ladies and gentlemen, the president of the ufc, Dana White.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
How are you?
Kirby Smart
What's up, guys? How are you, dude?
Pat McAfee
Not as good as you. Bones is fighting tomorrow. I'm gonna be honest here. Okay. I think we are at a stage of. I don't know how you feel. I think I could say, hey, I'm friends with Dana White. I think I could say that, right? Can I say that?
Kirby Smart
Absolutely.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So I'm friends with Dana White, and I had no fucking idea that Bones Jones was fighting this weekend until, like, four days ago, brother. I had no idea. 100% on me. This is a massive ordeal. This is a massive evening. And then obviously being against Stipe, who is legend in the fight game. How excited are you for tomorrow, and how do you think the fight goes? Obviously, Bones is a massive favorite in this thing.
Kirby Smart
Well, that's a big problem. We're not doing our job. If the biggest UFC was happening this weekend until four days ago, we have completely failed. But, yeah, I'm excited. Well, the good point, the good part is, is that it's the second biggest gate of all time at msg. So some people knew. Not the biggest guy in sports, but some people know.
Pat McAfee
Dana, it's 100. I'm a dipshit, you know? And there's been a lot going on, as you know. You've been in the middle of it all. Okay. You've been literally in the middle of it all on the night of it. So I think there's been football Happening. And then obviously congrats on a winning campaign, by the way. Congrats on a winning campaign.
Kirby Smart
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Pat McAfee
That whole thing's happening. So now that we have eyes on this, I mean, this is second biggest gate in Madison Square Garden history or whatever, but like, this fight is a dream fight, is it not? And I'm not like a UFC expert. I watch all the fights and all the pay per views. But like, this is a dream fight for a lot of people. And how's the vibes going into it?
Kirby Smart
Yeah, this is a fight that needed to happen. Jones got hurt several months back. We got the fight back on track. This fight has to happen. And then whoever wins this fight, the big heavyweight fight that everybody wants to see is whoever wins this fight this Saturday versus Tom Aspinall, who is the interim heavyweight champion. And if you think about this, I've been saying this all week, think about how hard it was for us to get into New York, right? Corrupt politician over here that was keeping us out of New York. Now at Madison Square garden, we're number 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9. All time biggest gates in Madison Square, Madison Square Garden history.
Pat McAfee
Is that good? I don't know, you tell me. Good for you. Obviously you draw, draw a lot of people. Your fans are incredibly passionate. And if you get how many more? Okay, so Tommy was chanted yesterday, I think at the press conference. You were asked about it. Place went crazy whenever you said yes, the winner should fight Tommy in this entire thing. When you look at Bones and where he's at in his career, what is the thought of how many more have you had the discussion about that? Is he still. Is there no end in sight? Like, what is the kind of thought with Bones, who's obviously goat in this entire profession?
Kirby Smart
Well, if you look at what he did to the number one guy in the division last time he fought, I mean, could he have 10 more fights right tonight? Tonight will tell you never know in this business. Or Saturday night will tell you never know in this business when somebody shows up and, you know, looks old in the fight business. We'll find out on Saturday night.
Pat McAfee
How do you feel about his training? What have you learned about where Bones is mentally and physically going into this fight? He looks good.
Kirby Smart
He looks like he's in great shape. The weigh ends here in two hours, but he looks like he's in great shape right now. He weighed in light and Stipe looks good too. I mean, we talk so much about John, it's almost like, you know, everybody's overlooking Stipe, which is the position he loves to be in. He loves to be the underdog. Every time he goes into a heavyweight fight, he's the underdog and he wins. So getting through Stipe is no easy. Exactly. Here he is beating Daniel Cormier, one of the greatest of all time.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Double champ at one point. Stipe lives in Ohio now. Ohio guy. AJ Hawk has a question for you.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, Dana, are you excited for some. I mean, you get more and more fans every single day. I feel like the UFC does. But you excited for some people to get to watch both these guys fight that may have not seen them fight a bunch, especially in their prime, which they both still very well could be. But people are kind of sleeping on them, I feel like, because they just haven't seen him recently. And what do you think a fight like this could do for. For both these guys? And obviously Michael Chanor Oliveira right before him, like, there's, There's a lot of big time names. So I think some people don't know a whole lot about.
Kirby Smart
Yeah, I. Well, every. Everybody knows about, you know, Oliveira.
Dana White
He's.
Kirby Smart
He's a huge super superstar for us. And Chandler, that guy's never in a boring fight. Neither one of them are. I mean, if you had to ask me, that's fight of the night already. We should probably already write their checks and give it to them. Now that's going to be fight of the Night, but then the main event. You're not wrong about Stipe. Stipe has been out for a while. You know, when he was active, people were sleeping on him, so they're really sleeping on him now. And you can't. I mean, first of all, sometimes when you look at the odds in this Ford, I think the odds makers are crazy. You know, underdogs win here. They don't win in boxing, but they win here. And he is a very live dog on Saturday night.
Pat McAfee
We'll certainly talk about boxing at some point in this conversation today because of what's happening tonight. But let's talk about Michael Chandler a little bit. And you talked about him never being in a boring fight. He takes pride in that. You know, I've heard him obviously on podcasts. He's been with Bus, with the boys. He's been with everybody, basically. And he says, like, I'm there to entertain. Like, I, I understand what's at stake. And he takes a lot of pride in being an entertaining fighter, which I think is why everybody was so jacked up being the guy to take on Conor McGregor coming back and then obviously the wait, the wait, the wait, this fight gets dropped in him and Conor still on the line are still potential or still going to happen at some point. But what was it like making the decision to give him another fight? Was he pushing for that? Were you pushing for that while the Conor thing was trying to come together? And, and, and how pumped are you to see him back in the cage after an extended hiatus?
Kirby Smart
Well, I always tell fighters your window of opportunity is very short. You shouldn't wait for anybody ever. I understand waiting for Conor because it's such a big payday for a fighter. But no, you don't sit around and wait for anybody. And people love to watch him fight him and Oliveira because that's exactly. They fight like Arturo Gotti. Those guys go out and just leave it all in the octagon. People love those type of fighters. Oliveira and Chandler are literally exactly the same in the way that they fight. And I'm literally, I'm going to tell you right now, I bet you anything that that's fight of the night.
Pat McAfee
Okay? And I assume it will be. And we should have gone to this. I'm telling you, Dana, we fucked this up. I fucked this up. I fucked this up. I should have known that this was happening. Like I should have known this was happening. I am Arthur Jones Bones brother played for the Colts. So like I know that I'm like a mad. I was at his fight in Baltimore when he came out, did the Ray Lewis entrance. He's obviously electrifying and he just toyed with a guy for like 5 rounds just having his time. And then I remember the entire run, obviously through experiencing it through his family with Arthur Jones of like he had a Nike deal, he was on sear. I mean it was, he was the guy. The fact that he's back, we this one up completely. We should be there. We will definitely not do that going forward. Connor has a question for you, Dana.
Gumpy
Yeah, Dana, obviously you just mentioned with Jon Jones, you know, in this fight, the winner should fight Tom Aspinall. And then yesterday I believe Jon Jones mentioned kind of the idea of fighting for fun after this fight. And you know, Pereira was thrown out there and kind of the idea of super fights going forward, is that something you consider when it comes to what the fighter wants? And what did you think about what he said regarding all those future fights?
Kirby Smart
Well, of course, you know, obviously a guy like Jon Jones has had a career that, you know, if he wants something, we would do it. But you can't just want to do a Fun fight and not fight the interim heavyweight champion, the guy who's. Who's next. Because if Jon Jones retired on Saturday, Tom Maspinol would be the heavyweight champion. So opportunities were given to Jon Jones. He was 23, the youngest heavyweight champion of all time. Now, as he sits where he sits, it's his obligation to give it to the younger guy to give him that opportunity. And if he beats Tom Aspinall, then, yes, I would do the Alex Pereira fight.
Pat McAfee
Okay. And do you want to just make any final claims about the pound for pound rankings? I know that's been a big story. Yeah. You got any?
Kirby Smart
As long as he is active in the ufc, he is the pound for pound, best fighter in the world, dominated the light heavyweight division, moves up the heavyweight, and his first fight dominates the number one guy in the world. And then we'll see how Saturday night goes.
Pat McAfee
I cannot wait to see the Internet's reaction. What a place, brother. What a place. The Internet. Hey, let's talk about the Internet real quick. Can we? I think Rogan told a story about election night. You were sitting next to Elon, and Elon, like, said, it's over or something like that before something four hours earlier.
Kirby Smart
Well, what happened was. What happened was he's on his phone and he's following some type of algorithm. I don't know what he had going on, but it was Pennsylvania, I want to say it said, she was ahead in Pennsylvania. And he leans over to me and President Trump and goes, they don't know yet, but. And he's pointing at Fox. He says, you just won Pennsylvania. And me and Trump were like, what? So then he had. I had just done Tucker Carlson, and when I came back, they wanted Elon for Tucker Carlson, so they're trying to wrangle him and get him out of there. I didn't realize he was going to leave after that, but he. He literally said to me, he goes, tell him he's the 47th president, United States. He walked out. And I said, elon just said, you're the 47th president.
Pat McAfee
So.
Kirby Smart
You know, I couldn't eat. He was sweating it, but acting like he wasn't sweating it. President Trump. Then when we leave, we go to the convention center. Four and a half hours later, they call Pennsylvania and call him the president.
Pat McAfee
Dana. What a wild thing to be a part of. Literally from yacht flight all the way through election night. And then you're sitting next to an alien in Elon Musk who's smarter than everybody. He's smarter. He, you know, he has this Obviously outlaw mentality. He definitely does. The guy's been a billionaire like six different times, like six different ideas. He's kind of done it and everything is changing. And then you're sitting next to former president and then next president say, and you're right in the middle of it. Dana. Hey, you done good, buddy. I don't know.
Kirby Smart
Thanks, bro.
Pat McAfee
You should. You should think about that sometime. You're in the middle of like the biggest. The biggest. And tomorrow night is going to be electrifying. Incredibly pumped for you.
Kirby Smart
Gonna be awesome. I appreciate it. Thank you.
Pat McAfee
We need to go to this, though. This needs to be one.
Gumpy
We're supposed to be at msg.
Pat McAfee
We this one up so bad.
Kirby Smart
Where are you? Yeah, you guys should. You guys should all be out here. First of all, you're one of the biggest guys in all the sports and you're on ESPN's network and you didn't know till four days ago there was a fight.
Pat McAfee
Okay, Horrible. I told you, it's on me. This one is. I'll hand up, hand up. We'll be better next time. We will certainly be watching as well. The rest of the world. Do you want to give a prediction tonight for Jake?
Kirby Smart
Mike, you know this, this fight is being sold on the fact that everybody wants to see Mike Tyson knock him out in one punch. I don't know. I love Mike. I hope he does well.
Pat McAfee
So I don't know boxing as much as you do. Obviously got your starting that I believe before going into it all. Conditioning is like the massive piece of it. Right. And age is certainly a massive part of that with the body. Mike Tyson's different though. Is that. Is that kind of the angle here? He's 58. Could you imagine 27.
Kirby Smart
27 is 27. 58 is 58. It's just, you know, this is what Jake Paul does, though. He tries to fight. You know, guys are 60 years old, you know.
Pat McAfee
Okay. All right. I assume you'll be watching. Ladies and gentlemen, president and CEO of the ufc, Dana White. We appreciate you.
A.J. Hawk
Jake does. This is what Jake does. He said.
Gumpy
That's unreal.
Pat McAfee
This classic Jake Paul football here. Okay. This particular 58 year old, though, is a little bit different. I was listening to. Jake Paul's trainer is a Sugar Ray Leonard out of, I think, whoever's training. Sweet name. Whatever it is, it is a sweet name. He was giving an interview and basically he said something along the lines of like, we know he's 58, but for the first couple rounds, we got to treat him like he's 38 is kind of like the mentality. So I think the Jake Paul camp is trying to get this thing obviously late. And that would make sense if you were a. Just any human trying to fight Mike Tyson. I think it's easier. Everybody has a plan to what, get punched? Who said that?
A.J. Hawk
Tice?
Tone Diggs
Mike Tyson?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Bingo. So everybody has a plan until you get punched in the face. And that's a Mike Tyson quote. And now we're talking about Jake Paul's potential plan, and then he's fighting Mike Tyson. So I think I'm intrigued by it. I'm very intrigued by that.
A.J. Hawk
I'm going to see if Jake can. Jake, like, people assume that what. Jake's going to kind of keep his distance and try to dance around for a little while to try to buy some time, tire Mike out. Is that what they think?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Well, Jake Paul be able to get through the booing if he dances. You know, like, that's the. Yeah, that's the thing about it. If you dance, you're going to get booed.
A.J. Hawk
I hope they don't grab a bunch. You know, sometimes in fights they start, boom. They're grabbing their holding. They got to break them up. Also, though, Jake better watch out when they grab. If Mike wants to punch out of those, like the dirty boxing, like in mma, that you could catch one right there and knock you out clean.
Tone Diggs
Yeah, I think Tyson would prefer that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah. If. Well, exactly. And if I'm Jake Paul and I'm once again not a boxing expert, although I have taken two classes. Okay.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Roll short, boys. Roll shoulder. Keep hand up like you're holding a telephone. Like you're holding a telephone. Okay. That's what we need to do there. Like, the booing aspect, very real. I think the booing aspect, very real. So if he stays away, I think crowds gonna get antsy. Boom. Can Jake Paul mentally do that? Now, if Jake Paul gets close to your point about grappling, it's like you definitely. If you get close enough to a refrigerator, you wanna. He's gonna want to get to this as quick as possible, I think. So. I had that whole dirty. Not dirty boxing, but, like, before the ref breaks it up, that's when we could see one of those Tyson.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Bang. Hi. Pez dispenser head. You know, like, that's. That's what we kind of envision. That's from the video game, right? Mike Tyson punch out. Oh, yeah. That is literally the thing. So I think there's something magical potentially gonna happen tonight. One way or the other and is if Jake Paul wins, how would be viewed? He beat Mike tyson.
Tone Diggs
Beat a 58 year old? Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Depends how Mike looks too. I think like if it's. If Mike looks really bad and Jake wins early or something, then it's different. But let's say it goes like seven rounds and Jake gets him. Might be different.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Bingo. Well, you're right. And I think Jake will have a chance to showcase even more boxing. Right. Ability. Because Tyson's natural movements are going to be boxers movements. You know, like that is the shoulder ride roll thing, like I mentioned that thing. Like as if I could actually do it. I couldn't. But actual boxers can do that. Like Floyd Mayweather has literally lived and died with the shoulder roll. Even if you think you're punching him, you're not Like Mike Tyson's naturally going to fall back into that. I think, you know, like I think muscle memory doesn't matter how old you are. I think you're still going to have natural instinct and it's like Fury had all those natural instincts and beat Jake. How I know. Let's make our picks before we pick the NFL slate here. Let's go to the toxic table. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Come on guys.
Pat McAfee
Actually, let's go to one half of the Hammer Cowboys ap Tone. Tone, who's your pick on this particular fight?
Connor
Iron Mike Tyson, brother. Second round knockout.
Pat McAfee
Okay. That's very exact though. Let's go to the toxic table at Ty Schmidt, who do you have tonight? Jake Paul, Mike Tyson. Mega fight.
Tone Diggs
Tyson by knockout. No way I'm picking against Tyson.
Pat McAfee
Boston Conner.
Gumpy
I mean I really don't want to do it but like, like Data white just says 27 versus 58. So I'll take Jake Paul.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Boston Conner has just picked Jake Paul in a boxing match against Iron Mike Tyson. Now the age difference obviously very real. Let's go to the back room too. I'd like to hear all the boys thoughts on this. We'll go with Frankie Moraldo Paisano from Pittsburgh. Who do you have, Jake or Mike? Nick, I think Tyson takes a dive for the 20 mil pay day in third round. Whoa. So congrats Jake doing that.
Connor
There's a lot of people who think.
Pat McAfee
That is the case. A lot of people that Mike Tyson's gonna do that. Did you hear his legacy quote he doesn't have?
Connor
You mean that girl? Yeah, it was awesome.
Pat McAfee
He doesn't care that that legacy quote yesterday. Pretty awesome him given that and then the way he's been handling everything else. Him smacking Jake. I. I Think this is Mike Tice. I think we got a. I think we're witnessing a Mike Tyson. You know what I mean? This interview, obviously, the world has already seen. She did a fantastic job with her question. Good confidence, good mic control, good. You know, emphasis on the pro. I thought she did a fantastic job asking about legacy. And then Mike Tyson just tells her, yeah, who gives a shit? Like, literally. And then he says how arrogant you have to be for people to want to talk about you after you die. Who gives a fuck to this little girl? And then she responds, obviously, and says, wow, I've never. I've never heard that before. That was a great response.
A.J. Hawk
She was good.
Pat McAfee
Great response from that girl. Like, she is gonna go and do things. But listening to that answer from Mike Tyson, I naturally was like, oh, this is. Like, this feels like old Mike Tyson. Like, this is from the videos I've seen. And now, granted, I. I wasn't paying attention enough through his prime. It was like. But that answer right there made me be like, oh, this is. He's flipped the switch. He's all Mike Tyson. So people thinking that Iron Mike would take a dive. That's an interesting take. That's an interesting take. And I assume he is very, very disrespected by that entire thing. Let's go to Zito. Zito, how do you feel this fight goes? Ah, Tyson, you can't make a kill. Killer. You are killer. So I think Tyson. Okay, bars. Well said, Bar. Hey, straight up, dude. Straight up. Foxy. Who do you like? Jake Paul. Iron Mike Tyson. Yeah. The sport of boxing needs Jake Paul to win. We don't talk about boxing unless Jake Paul is in a boxing match. So I think Jake Paul wins this thing for the entire sport. Unboxing. Okay. Okay. So kind of not making up boxing. No. What, slapping?
A.J. Hawk
No, he's getting into. He's getting into boxing. Boxing? Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Really? That's awesome. That's good news for boxing, then, if Dana's getting in there, because he's got a big one of these. He's got a big one of these. Aj, who do you pick?
A.J. Hawk
I mean, I'm. I'm the oldest guy here, I'm sure. I've taken Mike Tyson all day long. I remember. I mean, I guess I don't. I didn't see Mike Tyson really fight in his prime, but I remember Mike Tyson being Mike Tyson and telling reporters he's going to eat their children. So, yeah, I'm taking Mike Tyson.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Impregnable. Yeah. He. He. So when I got a chance to not host the sbs, but come out and talk at the beginning of it. What a wild thing that was. Looking back on it, just the way it all went down. Geez Louise. That'll be in a movie, I think someday. I think that'll. That'll be a part of it. But anyways, I walked out. He was front row. Mike Tyson. Anthony, you feel it? You feel you. You know, like I. Holy.
A.J. Hawk
Jake feels that Jake has to feel.
Pat McAfee
Well, he said it was a dream come true in my dream. And I got slapped by Mike Tyson. And I think Jake Paul, obviously, I think Jake Paul has committed his entire being here to being a boxer. Now, obviously, as the W deodorant and body spray, which we got a sample of, shout out to Jake. I am nothing short of impressed by the Paul brothers and their entrepreneurial spirit. Now, have they made mistakes? Certainly. But with Jake Paul in boxing feels like it's a real passion project for him, him being all in. He's a guy who, you know, to foxy's point, has brought boxing on the map to a lot of people that would never pay attention in the past. And just like Floyd Mayweather, sure, maybe people are waiting for him to get knocked the hell out. And I will always say, like, good on you, Jake, but I'm gonna have one time in my life to pick Mike Tyson in an actual boxing match. I'm gonna pick Mike Tyson because this is never gonna happen again. Now brain, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, everything about that is like 58 year olds should not win a boxing match. I mean, that is just not because how much stamina you need. And Jake Paul has been committed to this for what, five, six years straight. Every day. Mike Tyson has not been every day training boxing. He obviously had that fight. How many years ago was that last fight against Roy?
Tone Diggs
I think that was 2020 maybe.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, 2020. Okay, so has he stayed in boxing shape since then? You know, how long has he been.
A.J. Hawk
He's been in and out of late. I know he's got stuff like sciatica or whatever acts up and he's been in wheelchair with Kane and stuff at times he had so much back pain.
Dana White
For real.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so all right, I'm picking Jake Paul then. I'm picking.
A.J. Hawk
I didn't know he's not now. No, you see Mike now? He looks great right now. I think sometimes it can flare up and shut him down.
Pat McAfee
Okay, I'm picking Mike Tyson. Okay, sweet. All right, I'm picking Mike Tyson.
A.J. Hawk
Think about if you ran into Mike Tyson somewhere a year or two down the road. And he remembers. He knows that you picked Jake Paul.
Gumpy
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Pat McAfee
But also, I would like Jake Paul to know that I have respect for what he's doing.
A.J. Hawk
I've done respect for him. Even taking him on, even. Even thinking of making the fight, I think is nuts.
Pat McAfee
But with that being said, it's never going to happen. Mike Tyson is about to win a boxing match tonight with a refrigerator swing that is going to send Jake Paul's head into Jerry Jones suite. And Jerry Jones is actually going to sell tickets for people to take a tour of his suite to come see Jake Paul's head. That's not going to happen, but give me Mike Tyson. Okay. Sweet. We did it. I can't wait to watch that tonight. That's good. Netflix is doing it. They. They have a lot of people that have been associated. I saw Ariel working there. I saw. Oh, you saw him. You know who I'm talking about. Who's the guy he's with? I think he's with Kevin Durant. Board. Was that. Who was the guy standing between them during the Face Off? Oh, I don't know.
A.J. Hawk
I do not not know.
Gumpy
Not sure.
Pat McAfee
Saw that guy.
Connor
I didn't know who he was, though.
Pat McAfee
He looked familiar. Any of the guy with boardroom with. Yeah, I know he looked like that guy. I don't know who he is either. Netflix is going to invest a lot into this. I assume the show is going to be good. I assume the quality is going to be good.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
And I think they're going to deliver.
A.J. Hawk
Do we know the announcers or who's even doing, like, the intros or any. Who's doing the play by play?
Gumpy
Not. Not 100. Sure. Know the walkouts around 11. We did look that up for Paul.
Pat McAfee
11:00Pm 11 Eastern.
Gumpy
Yeah, Eastern.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Man, it looks like I'm not gonna be watching, man. We're supposed to.
A.J. Hawk
All my kids want to watch this. I don't know if they're gonna make it.
Tone Diggs
Sorry.
Pat McAfee
Can they move that up? Can we move that up?
Gumpy
They got like five fights. I think it was seven.
A.J. Hawk
It'll never go early. Including the knockouts ahead. It won't go earlier.
Connor
Commentating. Mora Ronaldo and Roy Jones Jr. Oh.
Pat McAfee
Mora Ronaldo is out there.
A.J. Hawk
I love Morrow.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Okay. This is good. Okay. Tonight's about to be electric.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, it is.
Pat McAfee
He will make it electric. Even if these matches or these fights are not electric, Maura Ronaldo will sell the. I mean, he is that guy. Canadian legend, right, Gumps? He's. Oh, yeah, dog. Yeah. Canadian Legend. He used to be in WWE nxt. I got a chance to watch him work numerous times. I think he was on the main roster for a bit there. He, he's awesome. I watched his documentary, too.
A.J. Hawk
Wasn't that interesting. That was an interesting doc, man. Like, he, he's an open book, that guy.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And he was nothing but kind to me, man. Moro Ronaldo is nothing but nice to me. So I, I respect and appreciate everything he's been through. So he'll make it electric. Oh, my God. Him and Lucas and Jerry Jones. Jerry world. I mean.
A.J. Hawk
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Oh, my God. Moro's gonna, he's gonna explore the space, too. I'm excited for that. All right, let's get to our Sunday picks, shall we? A.J. hawk. It's getting hot out here. I must say, boys.
Gumpy
It looks, it looks hot as hell.
Tone Diggs
You are glistening.
A.J. Hawk
Looks like it's heating up a bit.
Pat McAfee
I, I, you know it is. How's Gumpy doing?
A.J. Hawk
Is Gumpy okay? Like, is he wearing some, like, cool mistake.
Pat McAfee
I got a long sleeve shirt on. The early morning's been getting me. I hadn't really been thinking ahead. Yeah. At least you can't really see him behind the wire in the light.
Connor
And the, and a camel hat.
Pat McAfee
Well, you can't see. It's obvious. Yeah. He walked into a meeting this morning. Everybody's like, whoa, guys got no forehead.
Connor
Blends in with the hedges.
Pat McAfee
I said, no, it's just camo, brother. It's just camo, brother. Gumpy is a. Gumpy's unbelievable.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Portable charger. Got it. Bang, pow. Speaker. Boom, bang, pow. Man, we need to start thinking super ducks. Bang. This team has this boom. This boom, boom, pang, pow, poom, pow. He said like 7, 10am on the plane. It's like, dumpy. I know. You slept zero hours last night. I appreciate how you operate. And that's why I feel like the more I thought about it when he has to take that citizens test, even though he has never had to study and recall anything really ever in his entire life. You're gonna nail it, buddy.
Gumpy
Hell, yeah.
Pat McAfee
We'll get it done. We'll get it done. No worries. No worries at all.
A.J. Hawk
Maybe a few. Maybe a couple. Maybe a couple. Yeah, I saw.
Pat McAfee
Let's make some picks.
A.J. Hawk
I reviewed it a little bit. I'd have a couple worries, man. It's a lot of info, aj.
Pat McAfee
It's tough that. Those questions are tough, dude.
A.J. Hawk
I thought I was born and, born and raised here. I thought I was pretty.
Pat McAfee
No question. Should I be a citizen? I Don't. I don't know. Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens. I'm not going to be able to read the number from the sun and wear.
A.J. Hawk
Ravens are three point favorites. Yeah. Ravens, three point favorites at Pittsburgh.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so this is kind of like whenever the Bengals were given six and a half.
Gumpy
Yep.
Pat McAfee
We thought AFC north football. That feels like a lot of points. I know three. You know, it doesn't feel as much as six and a half, but I still think that's a lot, especially with the way Russell Wilson is working. Tone, what were you going to say.
Connor
There to your point, Pat? I have a stat on that since 2008 when John Harbaugh was hired, favorites of three or more in this rivalry.
Dana White
Okay.
Connor
So if you're three point favorite or more, you are 2, 18 and 3 against the spread. And Harbaugh himself is 0, 10 and 2 as a favorite of three or more against the Steelers. Obviously this one is just always close to your point as what you were saying.
Pat McAfee
Yes. And it's, man, what a fucking good stat. After I said how I feel. Thank you for doing that. I mean, that made me feel smart there. As you were saying, I'm like, okay, still got it a little bit, boys. Still got a little bit. That's a big telling thing because these boys is a real rivalry. There's real respect. It's a really different feel in the building, in both buildings whenever this is happening. Lamar wouldn't say that he hated the Pittsburgh Steelers, obviously only hates that team down in Fort Lauderdale that he lost to that Zay Flowers played on growing up and he had no idea how they lost. But give me the Pittsburgh Steelers plus three at home with Russell Wilson leading the entire city into thoughts that they could win a Super bowl again.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, man, this is. It's been a little tough one thinking of it for me. And Tone's been staring at me too. I know he is so been rock hard about these. These Steelers team for the last couple of weeks. But give me the Ravens here. And I think the Ravens find a way to win by a touchdown.
Connor
You're talking. So I was looking at you. But there is a worry that Lamar has been hearing all this, oh, he stinks against the Steelers and this go out and. And he does MVP Lamar things. There's a bit of a worry about that.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, well, there could be so many other things every week. You know, there's something to potentially worry about. But Lamar, you know, he does have a little bit different moxie swagger about him.
A.J. Hawk
Too much.
Connor
I don't know TJ did shave his head this week.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, wait.
Pat McAfee
What? Why do we have a photo of it?
A.J. Hawk
Mustache.
Connor
It just came out like two seconds ago.
Gumpy
So it's.
Pat McAfee
What's that? Full. Full metal jacket. What's the.
Tone Diggs
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Is that what he's so. Yeah. The Marines.
Tone Diggs
Full metal jacket. I'm shaving their heads.
A.J. Hawk
It's great movie. Oh, he looks good, actually. I'm okay. But he's got a little fade, though. He's got a little fade with it?
Connor
Little bit.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Very little. I will bet on that guy. Okay. Yep. I'm doing them. Give me the Steelers plus three. Even though the Ravens offense. Very good. Is a juggernaut. But the Steelers defense in Tomlin. All right, I'll take the Steelers. Let's go. The Raiders. Dolphins. Dolphins favored by a tud down in Miami. You know, this could be one of those feel the humidity once again games for the Raiders going down there. Tua is making tackles with his head after concussion questions while saying, I'm not wearing a guardian cap. It's going to be hard for me to ever pick against that guy. But brother, give me the ooze in a Miami Dolphins favored by a touchdown. Gumpy, how do you feel about this spread for your beloved Miami Dolphins? Feel real good. Dodson's playing this week as well. Linebacker got cut by the Seahawks for some reason. So we got him in the middle there. And offense just going to keep getting better. Okay, good. Yeah, we didn't. We should have. You come over here. Why don't you just bring a microphone over here?
A.J. Hawk
Come on, Goop.
Pat McAfee
You're connected. Oh, he's connected to the thing. They can't.
A.J. Hawk
Who's the quarterback for the Raiders this game? Whoops.
Pat McAfee
Pat.
A.J. Hawk
You're telling me you're picking against Gardner Minshew? He's got Matt. He's gonna be pounding the rock with Madison and then boom. What does that open up? Play action. Pass. Give me the Raiders here.
Pat McAfee
Really?
Gumpy
Okay.
A.J. Hawk
Seven's too much.
Pat McAfee
Course seven's too much every week. We know what you're doing. Is that every week, guys.
Dana White
And picked the Dolphins in three years.
Pat McAfee
I don't.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, below the goop.
Pat McAfee
You know, that's unbelievable. I don't like that. Packers. Bears. I think we probably know where AJ Is headed.
A.J. Hawk
And we know where you're headed, too. Don't act like you're picking the Bears here.
Pat McAfee
The spread of this one is obviously very apparent on that Five and a half.
A.J. Hawk
How is it not nine and a half?
Connor
It's.
Pat McAfee
Good question.
Connor
I have a fun fact Actually, the Bears do not have a player on the active roster who has beaten the packers as a Bear.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I saw that stat. I also heard Albert Breer. Did you guys hear that? I think we have the clip. Yes. Albert Breer was on Nightcap, I believe. No, Night. Late night.
Gumpy
Oh, late night Prime.
A.J. Hawk
Here we go.
Pat McAfee
The late night. The night they are called. Okay. It is the nightcap on Amazon Prime. After Thursday Night Football. I was actually up for all of this because the damn tooth surgery hurt so bad I couldn't fall asleep again. But Albert Breer spoke about the Chicago Bears situation and I don't know who his sources, but it potentially is the ex offensive coordinator for them.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, there's a ton of frustration, no question.
Pat McAfee
And I think a lot of this stems back to Caleb Williams not being quite as ready as they hoped he.
A.J. Hawk
Would be when the season began. That means they can't run the full.
Pat McAfee
Offense because he doesn't have as much. Much commanded the line of scrimmage. You can't make adjustments. Can't use cadence as a weapon quite as much. He's holding the ball for too long. That led to frustration among the offensive linemen.
A.J. Hawk
He's frustrated the receivers and the frustration.
Pat McAfee
Has been towards the coaches. It's been back at Caleb Williams. And so they make the change this week. And one of the first things that Thomas Brown did over the course of the last few days is emphasize having.
A.J. Hawk
Full unit meetings rather than breaking into position groups.
Pat McAfee
The hope is that he can bring the group together to try to find solutions. Okay, so I. Albert Breer's plugged. We are big fans of his. That's a lot. AJ that was. That was. This guy sucks. Basically. That's what that was right there.
A.J. Hawk
That's more than. More than. I remember the first time I watched that clip. Honestly. He just kept going and going about things that. So it sounds like it's never been good there with Caleb. No.
Pat McAfee
Well, we don't know and we have no. Who knows where this information is coming from and everything like that. But I mean, Ty, you got to feel good playing against a team that has that type of coming out of it. I think at this moment.
Tone Diggs
Yeah. I mean, part of me feels like with everyone talking about the Bears and how much they have going on that like this might be a week where they play free like a little bit. I don't know if that means they win, but five and a half. Like I'll be very interested to see who like the packers are relying on these young guys. After trading Preston Smith like, they need to get some. They need to get some pressure on Caleb Williams. Like, if everyone's talking about how shitty their offensive line is, they give up nine sacks last week and the packers come out and they can't get any pressure on Caleb Williams. I think that'll be. But also they said Jordan Love is the healthiest he's looked and like the by week came at the perfect time. So that's, you know, I mean, I don't think the packers are going to lose, but I could, I could see a world where this is much closer than everyone thinks it's going to be.
Pat McAfee
Okay, who do our Breer hear that from?
Connor
Good question.
Pat McAfee
He also said that they were implementing the offense before they drafted Caleb Williams, like before the draft when they had meetings with them. So I mean, there was. That is concern. There was a lot. I mean, it was. I was listening and I love how.
A.J. Hawk
Like they were installing the defense, like at the con, their offense at the combine with him already when they were meeting.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, like their meetings were like, kind of like talking about. And then the hero. Ah, that's wild. Good luck, Bear. Hey. All right, all right. I'm gonna take the packers as well. But hey, this could be a galvanizing effect. Could be. You never know what happens with any of these teams. And also he's a rookie still, so.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
I mean, we got to remember that we're talking about Caleb Williams as if he's like a 10 year vet, first year playing football in the NFL. It's a different world. Browns, Saints. And whenever you talk about this game, you think about the coach for the Saints potentially walking into that Superdome before the Browns come walking in and Jameis Winston and dumping in a toilet and clogging it up. So much so that the water is spewing from the roof and dumping down on these Cleveland Browns and that elf. Darren Rizzi, head coach of the Saints, enters his second game as an undefeated head coach in the NFL. AJ how do you feel about the bronze coming that time with Darren Rizzi in his big old dumps?
A.J. Hawk
Well, we got Jamis. As Rizzi said, Jameis will be back in the Superdome. We know what that means. Tons of energy. I think Jameis will play well, but I'm going with Coach Riz and the Saints at home for sure.
Pat McAfee
Is there any injuries for the Saints we need to talk about here or the Browns? I don't.
Connor
Not off the top of my head.
Gumpy
Yeah, Lava is still out, kind of like standard. But they have talked about Chubb kind of being all the way back now.
Dana White
Yeah.
Connor
Browns off, so they're the probably the healthiest they've been in a while.
Gumpy
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Honey Badger's playing, right?
Gumpy
Yeah, Badger's still playing Saints all day.
Pat McAfee
He's so good at football. He. He, quote, tweeted D, Butch, everything, db, good D, bad D, and said like, thanks or whatever, you know, And I wonder just like what Coach Tyranny did for Coach Sirianni. I wonder if while the Honey Badger was watching that he was thinking to himself, like, hey, D, but thank you for explaining, like, everything that goes into just one play. You know, like, there's the Honey Badger, I think, has been underappreciated as a football player in the NFL throughout the entirety of his career. And I am a huge fan. How many 39 picks was it?
A.J. Hawk
30. How many?
Gumpy
36.
A.J. Hawk
I think that's un. Like, yeah, the guy's ball skills are off the charts. Yeah. Go back and watch his college high fights too, if you have a chance.
Gumpy
Absurd.
Pat McAfee
So, yeah, took over Baton Rouge. Go ahead, Tone.
Connor
Oh, no, I was just saying it's like him not just on defense, like.
Pat McAfee
Just returning everything and, and offense, I think too. I think. Give me the Saints. I'll take the Saints. Vikings, Titans in Nashville, Tennessee. The Vikings are six point favorites and the Vikings fans have seemingly turned on Sam Darnold. A lot of turnover. Hey, will that continue against a Good Titans defense, A.J. how do you feel about it, man?
A.J. Hawk
Tennessee's defense does give me a little bit worry for Minnesota, but I'm still on the Sam Darnold bandwagon. So give me Sam Darrow on the Vikings -6.
Pat McAfee
I'll take the Vikings as well. Let's go, Jags. Lions 14 point spread in Detroit. I don't know if they have anybody performing at halftime. I don't know if they're doing any speeches. I don't know any of that. But I do know that the brand New Lions, our 14 point favorites in any game. Foxy. What a wild time to be alive, brother. Yes, sir. Largest spread of the year and it will be Zedarius Smith's first game in Detroit. So we're pretty pumped up here. And also Trevor Lawrence is out. It's a Mac Jones game. Oh. Oh, okay. Sweet. What's that, Connor?
Gumpy
I mean, look.
A.J. Hawk
See him be sliding with his foot up right? Your dong.
Gumpy
Mack loves when you're sleeping on him and everyone's sleeping on the big dogs. Look out for a 14 point dog in M. Jones. I. I mean, I take the Lions at 20 and a half if I could.
A.J. Hawk
So.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, me too. I would take the Lions favored by two touchdowns. Okay, now this is the one everybody's been talking about. It was a prime time game, but they said it's too damn good.
A.J. Hawk
Why are the jets favorites?
Pat McAfee
Why didn't this Just because the cold stink brother.
A.J. Hawk
Should be a pick em.
Connor
Jet Life Stadium, brother. That's four points of atmosphere.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And this game was too good of a game. They said we need to move it to earlier in the day.
Connor
True.
Pat McAfee
Because we don't want people to fall asleep in the middle of it. We want people to watch the entirety. Two offensive master classes about to happen on one field. One fireman Ed in the crowd next to Jetman. And Scott leading chance that'll have the entire tri state area going bonkers. And Anthony Richardson returning to the starting lineup after a couple weeks of perspective putting time. Got a chance to watch some people work. Got a chance to hear something said about him. He's saying all the right things now. He's viewing the world in a way that you would hope a QB one for an NFL franchise would view it. The Colts have everything in front of them. And AJ you say four point favorites on the fairy playing favorites. Four point favorites. Okay. The Colts should be the favorites in this particular game. I will take the Colts plus four on the road. A.J.
A.J. Hawk
Hawk, I will take the jets minus four at home. But I like maybe is this. If the jets don't win and cover, is that the last week I should pick the Jets?
Gumpy
You think it's over?
Connor
Probably.
A.J. Hawk
No, I feel like they're going to turn on Joe Bover if they lose.
Connor
Sauce Gardner seemed super pumped, right?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Is he on Sauce? For the seventh time this season. What's going on?
Gumpy
Yeah, Sauce is off social media right now. I will say I do believe Woody Johnson came in, taught Rogers how to throw a 7 route.
Connor
Seriously?
Gumpy
In the meeting. Yeah. Instead of teaching tackling, Woody came in, he was like, aaron, why don't you try this lips.
Pat McAfee
And then boom. You think, you think Ambassador Johnson said, I'm not going to be here for the next four years. Let me, let me dump everything out that I had. Is that what happened this week? Coach Brick was like, ambassador, the floor is yours, sir.
Gumpy
The floor is yours, said Garrett, get up here. Let me show you how to run a slant. Watch this. That's how you. That's how you turn your heads.
Pat McAfee
Hands up. I love that. Does he have good quicks, you think?
Gumpy
Oh yeah, like you wouldn't believe.
Pat McAfee
Sorry, Ambassador, how old is he? Versus like Tyson. 58, 59 floating around.
Gumpy
I think actually Jake Paul might fight Woody Johnson next.
A.J. Hawk
I'll watch.
Pat McAfee
That's what I was wondering. What's the odds on Ambassador Johnson versus Jake Paul? I wonder what that would be, especially with what we're hearing.
A.J. Hawk
He should fight Woody and his brother both. Both the Johnsons against Jake Two.
Pat McAfee
Johnson's one, Jake Paul.
A.J. Hawk
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Love that. Okay, let's go with. I got the Colts, obviously. Do you want to Change your pick, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
No, I'm pretty. I'm pretty dead set with the jets on that one.
Pat McAfee
This your last opportunity to the Indianapolis Colts.
A.J. Hawk
Appreciate you give me another opportunity, but, yeah, I'll stick with it on this one.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I don't think you're gonna look back on this one tonight when you're like, I've been killing it all year.
A.J. Hawk
Am I 1 and 8. 18 and 1 this year against you.
Tone Diggs
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
So. But you know what?
Pat McAfee
I.
A.J. Hawk
You guys know I am due. I am.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Gumpy
You're also old one already.
Pat McAfee
Well, yeah, last night.
A.J. Hawk
Well, I got start last week, and then. So let's see what happens.
Pat McAfee
You knew you were screwed, though. Whenever Chuck did what he did, you knew it. Well, you knew it.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
By the way, Chuck, quite a schneid.
Connor
Saw a lot of. A lot of. Not a lot of tweets, but a few tweets like, good job, Chuck. Way to pick the Eagles. He. He knew what he was doing. He waited so long that he got both sides.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, that's smart because, yeah, if you only see it now. Granted, we did remind everybody we did. You know, we're like, hey, this is one hour later. Let's make sure we know that. But I don't know how many texts he got from family asking him why he was betting against his brother or whatever, or if he was planning on slow rolling at the end entire time. I don't know. But I know you did not feel good immediately upon him joining your side. I. I know that because I want to let you know, when he picked the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, I was bummed because I was picking eagles and coaches on a little bit of a Schneid right now, and I think that all changes next week. But Owen won both you boys on the weekend. Coach Pagano is about to get hot to close out this year, though, and we all know that. What's your problem, Gump? I think he's staring down 500 next week, brother. No. 5 lost four. I don't know if he's going to get another winner. The Rest of the season. I don't know if the tent shows or not. There's somebody sitting in the stands here watching the show. I don't sweat. They're just kind of hanging out in Sanford. Yeah, in the Sanford Stadium. Are we able to get to the man in the. In the crowd? I just seen him. Yeah. I don't know if we're able to get to him. This place can hold 92, 746, but right now it's just one man.
Tone Diggs
Holy. Oh, is that Velocity?
A.J. Hawk
Is that a male model?
Pat McAfee
Oh, my God. Yeah, it is.
A.J. Hawk
It's a bodybuilder.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, that's a model, I believe. I thank you for zooming in. I couldn't get a good look here in real life. I didn't know who it was. That's Ithaca College's finest right there. That is. That is the Brocio. That is Velocity. That is violence. That is Johnny Bravo. That is the man right there to see you, broo. Thanks for coming out.
Connor
Wait, is he sitting. Is he sitting in someone's season tickets?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, of course he is. You think he was going to sit on bench? No way. Bro is probably going to steal that thing on his way out of here. 92,745 people. Now they have one person not going to be able to sit on their seat. This place is. So are all the. The. This padded seats, you think? Are those the seat license?
Connor
I always thought that you can add.
A.J. Hawk
It to your be at Ohio State with your tickets. You can like add it. You pay a fee to add it to your season tickets. I. I've never used it. It. From what I hear, it's a game changer. Oh, yeah, it's a game changer.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it looks like it's much nicer. I mean, look at Brocio. This guy's almost falling asleep up here because of how comfortable.
Connor
See on those metal bl.
Pat McAfee
I don't know if I like it. I think you should be sitting on the steel. Well, that's. That's a 16 year ship painter right there. Bubble gum, Pino. You can pack more people in if it's just everybody stacking on top of each other, but feels like if you have the choice for the comfort, a lot of people have decided to do that. And yeah, this place is cool, man. 1929. They built this place. 19. Think about how old this is down here in the sec, you know, like these traditions, these rivalries, these games, these stories, these families, everything. It's lucky to be on here right now. Now I'm getting Burnt. So let's make sure we get through these picks a little quicker because he's starting to burn up. So we are currently on the Rams in the Patriots after you falsely said that the jets we're going to be able to cover four there. Rams favored by four and a half in Foxborough. Connor, are you disrespected by this or how do we feel about the number?
Gumpy
No, this is kind of status quo probably the rest of the year. We're looking at the schedule today. Aside from the Colts game, they'll probably be dogs in every single game. I feel great about the direction of the team. I think four and a half. Once again, that's a weird number. Love the four and a half. Especially when you think about is a 1 o'clock game. There's a west coast team. They're playing at 10 local week. Yeah. Short week. They also played.
A.J. Hawk
Give me the Patriots. I want the Patriots on this one.
Pat McAfee
Really?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, I do. I like the Rams. Love Matthew Stafford, but there's something about. I feel the Patriots. Drake May making everybody stand up and clap for his defense.
Gumpy
Pats are. Pats are quietly heading in the right direction. Like I think this game, we get Colts, we get finished with five wins and then that's enough to get the free agents. You know, hey, come on. Things are changing over here. We're the new Detroit Lions.
Pat McAfee
All right. You sold me. Even though I just couldn't even fathom what Matthew Stafford did on this field here. Couldn't even fat. I mean spinning it.
Gumpy
Just lose the biggest game probably.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
A.J. Hawk
And win the Super.
Pat McAfee
I'll take the Patriots plus four and a half. Super bowl champion Matthew Stafford, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos. I like the Patriots as well for everything you said. And I can't wait to continue to watch the evolution of Drake May as an NFL quarterback. He's seemingly a guy. He's the guy excited for you guys. Yeah, he seems like he is a guy. Yeah. Yeah, he seems like he's definitely a guy that is going to lead the.
A.J. Hawk
Flight path there or what? We're right over the flight path to the airport.
Pat McAfee
Do you hear? I haven't seen one of these. I've heard a lot of them.
A.J. Hawk
They sound like some small engine.
Pat McAfee
I just found it. I just found one. It is small. This is. It's one of those ones that I would never in a million years get in. I don't even know how.
A.J. Hawk
172 Broadway.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Like one of those. Like two seaters.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Tone Diggs
Four.
A.J. Hawk
There's probably two in the back. 152 would be a two seater. 172 have four.
Pat McAfee
That was a two seater. I do believe that one had a tight cab. I mean we're talking about a tight cabin up there. That's for like learning, right? Yeah, flight instruction and stuff.
A.J. Hawk
We're flying like 45 minutes getting a hamburger. $100 hamburger. It's always aviation terminology. I got the Falcons in the next game, in case you're wondering.
Pat McAfee
No, but aren't you a pilot? You've flown those?
A.J. Hawk
I wish. I wish I was a pilot. I got over 40 hours and I soloed. But I did not complete. Didn't complete my mission. Wow.
Pat McAfee
Were you flying those 152? 172.
A.J. Hawk
Flying Cessna 172. I mean the creme de la creme is the cirrus. You know the little series with the side stick. Those are the best.
Pat McAfee
There's a four seater right there. 172 probably right there. It looks like flying. Yeah. I think we are in. Cameraman.
A.J. Hawk
You're by that you're by a smaller airport then, right? That you flew into probably.
Pat McAfee
That's a good shot. Hey, what was that? AJ was that a 172 you think maybe. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
172. 152 little Cessna.
Gumpy
This guy doesn't know.
Pat McAfee
Planes are awesome, dude. Aren't they? I don't know how it works. I have no idea how that Wright brothers looking flies in the air. I have no idea how it does. I legitimately. They. They say it's like for pressure. Whatever the case, every time I get on one, I think to myself, I don't know why this works. This shouldn't work. This thing is way too big. I'm standing up and walking around at 300, 400 miles an hour at 40000ft. What? How is this even possible? And then I automatically think to myself, what a wonderful time to be alive. They used to have to be in the back of a wagon. Think about that. Remember what it used to be like way back wagon. And now we got these little force here. And then you see what came out of. Was it China or Japan? That one yesterday where they. Oh, they backed a helicopter out of basically a car. And then this helicopter just took off and was like steering like it was.
A.J. Hawk
I mean it's like your own little baby Uber. That'll take you around, right?
Pat McAfee
It's a good time to be alive. I don't have enough guts though to get up in there. Baby. Yeah. Those little be good events. Look at this thing.
A.J. Hawk
They have these that are autonomous, that'll fly. You'll. They'll take you. You don't have to do anything.
Pat McAfee
That sounds like a great idea.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, I'm talking maybe five to seven years from now. It might be, you know, safe enough.
Pat McAfee
I, you know, I wanted one of those jet packs. What was the Italian group that had those?
Tone Diggs
Zapato.
Pat McAfee
I don't think Paul had it. I don't think he did. It was Zapata. They had these jet packs that these people are using. I was like, that would be sweet. But then I guess you just need that to blow up and you're done.
A.J. Hawk
Just nose dives you through the earth. That could have happened, too.
Pat McAfee
All right, so maybe we don't get those.
A.J. Hawk
I don't want Jeff. Jets.
Pat McAfee
Let's get back to the drawing board. All right. Falcons, Broncos. Falcons can really fly, can't they? Jesus.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, they move.
Pat McAfee
They are good.
A.J. Hawk
I'll take. I'll take them in this game.
Pat McAfee
Me too. Cuz the Broncos horses just can't fly.
Tone Diggs
No, they.
Pat McAfee
So they run fast. Whatever you're talking about. I don't like this line. I don't like it.
Gumpy
It is weird.
A.J. Hawk
What's that? What's that mean?
Connor
I think, I think. I think the Broncos. I think people think they're a good team.
Tone Diggs
Falcons coming off for the Falcons as well.
Pat McAfee
He's been very good. Oh, man, I love Kirk Cousins.
A.J. Hawk
Yep.
Pat McAfee
I like Bo Nicks, though.
A.J. Hawk
Bijon. Pat. Sir.
Pat McAfee
Sean Payton. You got the Falcons in Denver.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, I'll take the Falcons.
Pat McAfee
All right. I'll take the Broncos. I'll take the Broncos.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Dana White
Wow.
Pat McAfee
That was interesting. I don't know why I did that.
A.J. Hawk
That was.
Gumpy
You going back?
Pat McAfee
I'll take the Falcons. I'll take the Falcon.
A.J. Hawk
Okay, we're both in the Falcons.
Pat McAfee
Nope.
Gumpy
In Georgia.
Pat McAfee
I'll take the Broncos.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, yeah, you got the Broncos.
Pat McAfee
I'm in Georgia right now. Yeah, give me the Falcons. Give me the Falcons. Give me the Falcons. Yeah. Yeah. Good call. Good call. Good call. Seahawks, Niners, NFC west battle. Now, obviously, the Cardinals run this division. Wow. Holy.
A.J. Hawk
That sounds like an airliner.
Pat McAfee
I think there's a Falcon. I think it's a Falcon. The. So Falcon. That's a big plane to be flying that low. I mean, we gotta be real close. That was a bit. That was. I mean, are we touching the stadium with these planes? What the hell's going on?
A.J. Hawk
How far of a drive did you have from the airport? That's where they're going.
Pat McAfee
Do you remember? It was like 10 minutes I guess. Yeah. No, very. 10, 10, 15. But, like, why is everybody flying from this?
A.J. Hawk
Because they want to look out the.
Gumpy
Window, look out the stadium, go see.
Pat McAfee
Oh, it's a tour. It's a tour. Obviously, that jet was low. I hope everybody's okay. I think it will be all right. I'm taking the Falcons, Seahawks, Niners now in San Francisco. Now, we know that everybody's very passionate on the San Francisco 49er sideline. If you do recall, we had some motivational words from a wide receiver. Then we had a long snapper that was going to fight back. And then there was a choke throw to long snapper. And then bopping ahead of kicker. Inevitably, kicker makes kick. Good news, happy ending. I think they're all past that. I think that type of thing brings you together even more. I like the San Francisco 49ers. I also like the fact that nobody's really talking about them being at the top of the class because the Arizona Cardinals were leading their division. Everybody's talking about the Eagles. Everybody's talking about the Lions. It's like, is the Niners still the Niners? Yeah, I think they are. Give me the Niners with a lot of motivation.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, I. I'm on the Niners here as well. Six and a half does feel like a lot, but still, you can easily see a time where the Niners win by a touchdown.
Gumpy
DK also back.
Connor
The sports folks still believe in the Niners. There's three teams in each. Each conference that they think, based on numbers, can win the super bowl, and it's the Lions, Eagles, and Niners in that one.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And that just. That makes sense. Done. It makes sense. Especially if you think about how close that that team is. We see them and their wives on the sideline, all of them dancing. I mean, that's like a family. They've been around each other a long time, and a guy got shot in the chest a couple months ago scoring touchdowns, coming on. So when you talk about a team at Destiny, it's like, why not the Niners?
A.J. Hawk
His second game back, McCaffrey's. Yeah. So he got that. It's true. When you come back from an injury, too, I think your legs are a little bit dead. It's like you don't really know. You're trying to figure everything out now. Second game back, he feels great.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And also, you want to reprove your. That you are who everybody says you are. If you're Christian McCaffrey, you know, like, we were watching him for his return, for what the first eight weeks, nine weeks. It was like, when's Christian McCaffrey coming back? Well, it might be next week. He's not going on. He does go on ir. We open up this whole thing. We don't open it. It's like he wants to prove everybody right. Like, yeah, I am that. And I, I'm excited to watch him do his thing. Now, Seahawks, they win this one, maybe they're able to turn everything around. Allegedly. There's a lot going on over there. You get it? Chiefs, Bills, now this is what we came here for. We do not know if Brett Veach, the general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs, is going to punch Brandon Bean in the face. The general manager of the Buffalo Bills pregame. He said no on the show yesterday that he would not be punching Bean in the face. But I think the way he said it, you have to leave yourself to wonder. Maybe he does try to set the tone a little bit early. This game has been electrifying. Every time they've played Josh and Patrick, Tom and Peyton, you talk about rivalries. This is quickly becoming an electrifying one and the NFL is incredibly thankful for it. I just watched Josh Allen play football last week in person. Yeah, he's awesome. In the Kansas City Chiefs. Yeah, they got their swagger back. I think this is obviously game a season. I think it's going to live up to the hype. I think we should all be very thankful for it. And I think we should understand that the Chiefs is still the Chiefs. I will take the Kansas City Chiefs in this particular matchup. Even though the stats, I believe, say during the regular season it's the Bills and during the playoffs it's the Chiefs. Is that accurate? Yep.
Gumpy
Yep.
Connor
Bills are 3. 0 during the regular season. Chiefs are 3. 0 during the postseason in their last six. But injury wise, the Bills ruled out Dalton Kincaid today. And I think Keon Coleman is also out for this one and Amari Cooper is questionable, but he thinks he's going to be able to go.
Pat McAfee
Okay. And what is Patrick Mahomes record against the spread as a dog?
Connor
Incredible. I think like 12, 101 or something like that. I could look it up.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I saw it this morning. It was like 11 and one, maybe 12. I forget what it was, but it was big. It was big. Whenever. Whenever Patrick Mahomes has the capability and Andy Reid has the captain ability to tell their team that they. The world thinks you're going to lose like this. The world thinks you're. They're undefeated. They're the back to back super bowl champions. And now they even have extra motivation. And I'm not saying you get bored with greatness because obviously they're seeking something that nobody else has ever had, but it's like that's a lot of motivation for a Chiefs team. And I love the Buffalo Beals. They beat the out of the Indianapolis Colts last week. Okay. They actually caused us to be in quite a predicament, having to go back to AR and whole song and dance. And I think they'll be around in the end, but I think the Chiefs are still the Chiefs, especially if they're getting points.
Connor
Mahomes is 1211 as a duck.
Pat McAfee
There it is. Great. Hey, good recall there, tone baby.
Connor
Good recall still works everywhere.
A.J. Hawk
Give me the Bills at home. I'm. I'm just got a feeling I'm going to have to take him.
Pat McAfee
I like that. Good gut feeling. This could be the week it changes, obviously. Yeah. What happened there? Why didn't ve tell us about that yesterday? Yeah. Was that cars close.
Connor
Did you see that drop to a knee video, Pat? Is that real? Like.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he does that a lot when he kicks. He's been doing that for the last couple years, not dropping all the way to a knee, but for the last couple years he's been kicking like. I don't want to say with like. He's like Scotty Scheffler kind of. He's becoming like Scotty Scheffler. So he's been doing that and obviously I assume he made that particular kick, but his knee is. You're supposed to have like, you're supposed to. So one of the big talking points of kicking is. Can you zoom out a little bit? Thank you. Yep. So. So whenever you get leg lock. All right. So whenever you're coming into kick, you're coming in like this. Boom. You're playing. If you can get leg lock here, it does provide you enough room to also get leg lock on this particular thing, which is physics wise, if you do it, that is the most amount of power you can generate. Right. Like, that's like lock. I think baseball, if you lock, if you get one at whenever it's like full out. So what he's been doing, and I think it's been doing it for a little bit. A little bit. And I had do this a little bit when I was kicking field goals too. I had like arthritis in my knee. I had numerous surgeries in my knee. I tore your knee. Just can't do it anymore because the amount of torque that is going on it. So I Think he's potentially been battling through this for a bit and just making balls go through the uprights while still murdering him with not being, like, fully able to crush balls. Like, we see how strong he is, how far he hits the ball and how accurate he is. I think it's. He's been, like. I don't want to say athleting it, but, like, athleting it. Like, I think he's been having to do that. So him getting a chance to get healthy. Hopefully. I think he's only going to get better, but he's been doing the. He's been kicking very different than everybody else for some time. I've. It's been interesting, but he doesn't miss. Like, he's just so good. Spencer Schrader, he comes from the jets over there. He's on jets practice squad. And then allegedly there was a story that the jets tried to make him an offer, and he said, brother, I'm going to the Chiefs. What are we. What are we even talking about here? So good for him. He gets super bowl ring and make some kicks over there for a few weeks. And then Bucker coming back healthy will be even better for him, I think.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. I mean, is he having surgery?
Connor
Do we know he had surgery today?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, surgery today. Okay.
Pat McAfee
What was it? Did they say miniscule? What was it?
Connor
Bucker just. He tweeted that he had surgery today and everything went well. I don't know exactly.
Gumpy
Yeah, the reports were just knee. I didn't see any specifics.
A.J. Hawk
Gotta be a clean out or something.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, maybe there's something floating around in there, too. But it's like there was times where for kickoffs, I couldn't plant. So, like, I'm literally just hanging on my quad and then just trying to hip it. You know, I'm just trying to hip that thing. And obviously you're affecting everything else. So the fact that he's been as good as he is without being able to fully plant is wild. To think it's like Scotty Scheffler. It's literally like Scotty Scheffler when he just swings out of his. Out of his cleats. All right, let's go. That's gonna be a great game. That's gonna be a great game. Yeah. Now, speaking of a great game, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, two men enter, one man walk away thinking they still have playoff opportunity. Chargers actually could take a loss and still make it. The Bengals certainly need to win every game that they play going forward. Jamar Chase went Absolutely bananas. T. Higgins is running up hills in. In the streets of Cincinnati, showcasing that he is back healthy and ready to play in. Jim Harbaugh on the program the other day, singing the praises of the culture the Chargers have built in such a limited amount of time. A team that loves each other, A team that wants the fight. You with a quarterback that can do things that nobody else can do. He's half man, half beast. He's inhuman. He's the golden goose. He is the keystone. Just like the bricks that he carries across the field, which helps him hold onto a ball when any other human would have fumbled it, dropped it, and the ball would have went the other direction. Jim Harbaugh's pregame speech is going to be electrifying. His on field performance during the pregame with the catches is going to be perfect. And I think the Chargers get a massive win against the Bengals on Sunday Night Football. One that their fans, you know, have kind of been clamoring for and looking for over the past few years. I think this would normally be a game and I might be speaking out of pocket, not paying close enough attention to and maybe too zoomed out. But like Chargers of the past, lose this game in a heartbreaking way.
Connor
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Heartbreaking way. This one, I think it's different. I think the Chargers win this one at home and I still have nothing but love and respect for the Cincinnati Bengals. But I like the Chargers in this one.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. So is Trey Hendrickson not playing? He. He's left home with due personal reasons.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Connor
So he's not flying with the team today? They said he's going to fly with the team tomorrow and is most likely going to play. I thought.
A.J. Hawk
Wait, what?
Pat McAfee
He didn't fly to the team.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, he's going to fly to the team, but he's going to play?
Connor
Yes, I believe.
A.J. Hawk
Okay, good.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Yeah. He said. Tone, just so we can clarify, he said they say he's not flying with the team today, but he'll fly to the team tomorrow.
Connor
Correct.
A.J. Hawk
Got it.
Pat McAfee
Got it. Okay.
A.J. Hawk
Okay, good.
Pat McAfee
I don't think that's it.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, that's not a big deal. I did that once when I was awaiting the birth of a child. I went a day later by myself after the game. Kid didn't come till after luckily, but yeah, maybe.
Connor
Who knows what his tweet was. He will not travel to Los Angeles with the Bengals today due to personal reasons. He's expected to travel to Los Angeles tomorrow and be available Sunday.
Pat McAfee
We're all good. We're all good. Okay. So hopefully everything's okay. Hopefully everything's okay. You like the Bengals, huh, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
I do. Especially with Trey. I thought for a second Trey might not be available. So with Trey actually playing. Yeah, I like the Bengals even more. I mean, their offense has been killing it. Defense just has to find a way. Trey's. Trey's been getting after it. Hopefully he can find a way to disrupt. Yeah, I know. Hopefully he can find a way to disrupt Justin Herbert a little bit, but. Yeah, I'm going to. I'm going to go Bengals here.
Pat McAfee
All right. And that's that. What a time. I can't wait to see you guys.
Connor
Hell yeah.
Pat McAfee
On Monday.
Tone Diggs
Hell yeah.
Pat McAfee
AJ thank you so much for traveling tomorrow morning to be electrifying. I'm excited to see how these people.
A.J. Hawk
I think it's gonna be much better than you're putting making it in your head. It's gonna be great.
Pat McAfee
I'm prepared for both.
A.J. Hawk
Either way. Either way, it's gonna be awesome. We know that.
Pat McAfee
I'm prepared for both. Yeah. And I haven't really had the opportunity since the NXT days to do, you know, some. You got your thoughts. I got mine, too. We can have ours if you want. Yeah, we can have ours if you want. But with that being said, I got nothing but respect for this Georgia team. I got nothing but respect for Kirby Smart, who was fantastic on here. I got nothing but respect for their fans who understand that this season's schedule, the way it's been laid out, is they've been having to fight an uphill battle, literally a much bigger hill than anybody else in the country. And if they don't win tomorrow, they're out of this thing. And that's a. That's wild to think about, but it's very real. And then for this Tennessee team, they're in a place that I think they're very excited to be in with a defense that hunts. I mean, absolutely hunts. They were. What was that? Tennessee. Oklahoma. When we did game day, Right. Yeah. Tennessee's defense hurt three dudes. Three dudes had to tap out in one drive in that Oklahoma game. If you go back and watch it, I forget which one it was. Maybe it was the second quarter, but it was just standard hits. Just like, helmet to, like, maybe sternum tackle. And they were like. They were trying. They were physical. Not a penalty, not a guys leaving the game. Three of them. One series. No stoppage of anything, but just three guys saying, I don't. I need a breather. I need a breather here. It's like that Tennessee defense hunts and they can really make this something special. Especially with how turnover prone Carson Beck has been. It's like this could be an instant classic here tomorrow. And there's a lot on the line. Lucky to be here, thankful to be here. What was that? Z? Z just said something to Pickles. Hot pickles. Oh, yeah. Speaking of instant classic, look at the price of this one. Look at the average resale price of this one. $531. Tennessee, Georgia right here. And I think it's because obviously big game and everything, but the implications. This is huge. This could be historic here with. What if Georgia wins this one, then goes on to win it all, they'll be like. Well, there was a time. Yep. In November when Georgia was up against it, back against the wall, the dogs were cornered and boom. 531 bucks is the average ticket price for that. Then 255, 239, 238, 198. That's a massive gap between tickets to this one and everywhere else. But Sea Kick is obviously the greatest ticket buying platform on planet Earth and which we haven't really talked about. Yep, we haven't really talked about it. That UFO thing, crazy UAP thing, I don't know what. Biologics. Biologics. What was the word?
Gumpy
Biologics.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Never heard of that before, but that's. That's fucking aliens. Okay, listen to this. Listen to this. Give and take here. I believe what is happening, from what I heard, from the clips that I heard is that there is a group of people within the government, I think the Pentagon, that is looking to get this information. Information that is allegedly held in a department or something Way, way. Listen to this. And we got to remember, we can always beat them at football. We cannot lo. They don't know leverage. We can beat them in Oklahoma. Listen, this happened the other day in real life. Okay. You've stated that the government is in possession of potentially non human spacecraft. Based on your experience and extensive conversations with experts, do you believe our government. Government has made contact with intelligent extraterrestrials? Something I can't discuss in public setting. Huh? Okay.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
I can't ask when you think this occurred. If you believe we have crashed craft stated earlier, do we have the bodies of the pilots who piloted this craft? As I've stated publicly already in my News Nation interview, biologics came with some of these recoveries. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Were they I guess human or non human? Biologics. Non human.
Gumpy
And that was the assessment of people.
Pat McAfee
With direct knowledge on the program I talked to that are currently still on the program. Okay. All right. So whenever we inevitably get to the moon, which sounds like it might be next week, you know, whatever the case is, whenever we get there and they have some live event, you're going to want to buy your tickets through SeatGeek for that event. Well, you know, whether it's a football game, whether it's a Broadway show, a concert, any live event, SeatGeek has the greatest tickets available for you at the best prices. And they won't lie to you either. They'll actually have, like, a little green dot next to a ticket and say, like, hey, this is a good ticket. We checked. And then they'll have a red dot next to a ticket and be like, hey, this is a bad deal. Do not buy this ticket. You can find this something better somewhere else. So Sea Geek is obviously a great partner to ours, but whenever we do something on the moon, whatever it is, they'll sell the tickets up there and they'll take care of everybody. We appreciate the out of SeatGeek. And the current promo code is PAT 2024.
A.J. Hawk
Yes, I believe it is. PAT 2024. It's somewhere around here.
Pat McAfee
Yes.
Gumpy
Yeah, that's correct.
Pat McAfee
Nailed it. 30 bucks off.
A.J. Hawk
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Restriction questions apply, which I believe is if it's less than 30 bucks, they're not going to pay you money. So Pat 2024 is good for 30 bucks off any live event through our friends at Sea Geek. And when we get on the moon, I can't wait to see how they. How they sell the tickets to that, you know, because you're gonna have to get there. I don't know if that's on Sea Geek, that'll be on somebody else. AJ Great work today from Indianapolis. You're the man.
A.J. Hawk
Appreciate you guys. Love seeing you guys here.
Pat McAfee
And did that guy just say we have aliens here? Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Biologics. Non human biologics.
Gumpy
Yep.
Pat McAfee
That should be bigger news, right? Are we. Who's all. Is everybody?
A.J. Hawk
When do we get to see them?
Connor
Yeah, trot them out.
Gumpy
Can you see?
Pat McAfee
Is everybody? And also, let's make sure they know.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
That they know. They already know that if they mess around, I know we'll put them in between these hedges. That's right on this field right here. And we'll have a couple damn good dogs on up across from them. And we'll see who they think runs this. Now, if they just want to talk, which another guy who is a defense researcher said we've had non communication. I mean, it is a lot was said the other day. And all we need to know is non verbal communication. All we need to know is seek equal ticket any event that happens out there. We NAS and the aliens, if we're doing stuff for the aliens, we'll sell them their tickets maybe. What if they don't know? Entrepreneurialism, we ever think about that? What if they don't have a clue and we just tell them, like, hey, we can sell tickets to all this. You guys want to do your thing, you know, you want to do your little spacecraft show? We do air shows all the time. Do it. Sell some tickets. You guys go back to your thing. Seek. You can be the ones to do it. And. And that's why we love them. All right, boys, it's been a hell of a week. Let's have a great weekend. Tomorrow morning, 9:00am Eastern College game day. Live from Athens, Georgia, an elimination game for the Georgia Bulldogs. It should be electrifying. And then we got great football. We got a massive UFC fight card. Jake Paul, Mike Tyson. Let's enjoy the hell out of this. We're lucky to be in sports world. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. Gump, come on.
A.J. Hawk
Come on.
Gumpy
Get over here, Gump.
Tone Diggs
Show us.
A.J. Hawk
Show us your fit. Come on, Gump.
Pat McAfee
Dumpster was plugged in over here. Hey, great work today. Good to see you boys.
Gumpy
Good work over there.
Pat McAfee
Have you been getting as burnt as me, or.
Dana White
No, not a little.
Pat McAfee
Fried in the face. Shooting right there. It's probably pretty bad. What do you got, a little chicken fry? Yeah, just on the left side. I'll be all right. Pair of jeans and the radio. Zach Brown. Zach Brown. Oh, yeah, from Georgia. That's right.
Gumpy
Yeah, from Georgia.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he's from Georgia. Maybe he'll be here tomorrow. Maybe.
Dana White
Maybe he's.
Gumpy
Jack, she'll be.
Pat McAfee
Be your friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. We're in this thing together. Never forget it. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three. Goodbye.
