A.J. Hawk
Here we go, the Pat McAfee Show. I'm A.J. hawk sitting in for Pat. He'll be joining us from London, England, the O2 Arena. I believe sports have been amazing. Pat, what's going on? You. This is awesome, actually. We get a view strictly. This is. You are like, what, ringside, ready to go tonight, obviously. Netflix London ENGLAND how's it going over there, man?
Pat McAfee
Hey, life is good, aj. Thank you for taking the trip to Indianapolis to host alongside the boys. And obviously it's a great group over there in the Thunderdome. But let me let you know something. This trip to London that I've had over the last 24, 48 hours has been nothing short of spectacular. I got a chance to enjoy the sights, you know, have some booze with the locals, you know, Wade Barrett, who is a part of the commentary team on smackdown, formerly Bad News Barrett in the WWE from England. His team, Preston North End, was in the FA Cup, I believe, quarterfinal. They were taking on a squad. And yeah, we boozed a little bit and watched that game yesterday. Then we went on a pub crawl. Myself, Michael Cole, Wade Barrett, we want time to time. There's Winston Churchill right there. Let me tell you, he is a revered gentleman over here, okay? He obviously did his thing. We went to a couple of small pubs. This right here is James's pub. His mom Suzanne started it in 1980. He's now the governor of the pub. He lives upstairs. It's old school. They gave me a Sunday roast of beef. I ate that thing. And, you know, probably gallons of beer were drank yesterday all around London. A lot of. A lot of lads were met. And that right there is actually the laboratory that set. That's the world's time. That building right there, I didn't want to walk all the way up the hill. I didn't find it that fascinating. But I took a picture of it from afar. That is where the world's time starts. So I got a chance to see the town a little bit. Wade Barrett, and Stu is his name, was walking us around. I mean, it was a wonderful day. It was like 65 degrees, clear skies in the middle of March. I got a little sunburn in London in March. Yes, I might be the whitest of whites to have that particular stat, but it was a good time yesterday. And now Preston North End, Wade soccer team, they're not good, okay? They. Well, yesterday they weren't. At least they lost 3, 0. But the game before, guess what they did, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
What'S that?
Pat McAfee
They beat Burnley 3.
A.J. Hawk
Nothing that go hasn't been giving up any goals this year, I thought.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, well, gave up three to Preston North End. We're the one and only North End. That's the chance I heard and enjoyed. But yeah, it's been awesome over here in London. Now we're in the O2 Arena. We got Monday Night Raw coming up here in a couple of hours. Obviously London time five hours ahead. So normally starts at 8:00 Eastern on Netflix. Today will be 3:00 Eastern then obviously running full time. And it's an honor to be over here, especially with how big of a day we have today. Rap Sheet's going to be joining here in a matter of moments. Coach John Shire from the Duke Blue Devils will be joining us in about 35 minutes or so. And then, you know, for the rest of the program, we're going to be talking about all things happening around sports. I know it's not just you over there though, aj. It sounds like there's a great group of lads over there. Is a bunch of lad of lads over there. Is that the toxic table? Do I hear is Boston Connor back in the Thunderdome?
Boston Connor
Yeah, back in the center.
A.J. Hawk
Could be back.
Boston Connor
You know, I knew you were in London, so I, you know, wore the Team USA hockey jersey. Something the Brits can't do play hockey. Another thing they can't do, probably eat food. I assume you ate some terrible beef mash or fish and chips or some bullshit that they serve over there. But yeah, it's good to be back, man. I'm excited for, for RAW in London. It was a great weekend of basketball as well. It's awesome.
Pat McAfee
I will tell you this. You walk into some of these places because the fish and chips thing you do, walk right into a pit of ass. I mean, it smells in some of these and they're all like kind of tight, you know. I don't think anything has smelled worse than a pub bathroom. Like, you walk in there, it's as if somebody is shitting in your face whenever you walk in. Because it's real tight. They're real tight spaces, you know, it's all real close quarters in there. And I was as American as possible. I had a backwards hat on. Obviously at the air forces. I. People were nice to me here. I did not expect it. I did not expect the people to be as kind as they were to me. Big dumb American. But I will say, yeah, they can't play hockey. Okay, they can't play hockey and it's coming home. We all know what that means. Soccer is coming to the United States of America. At some point we're going to be good. But on that note, sports did happen all weekend. I saw sitting next to you comment. I don't know if you saw Guy Schmidt's wearing a Yankee sweatshirt. What's that all about? You guys are using astrophysicists to cheat the rest of the league to cheat the sport. It's like Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa level stuff. Why isn't everybody using these torpedo bats? Hitting dong shot after dong shot after dong shot. Oh, we had eight homers in one game. Oh, Aaron judges hit four hum. I guess he's not using it because he doesn't need it. But what are we doing with these bats and why isn't everybody doing this? Ty, this seems like a genius move. Genius move.
Ty Schmidt
That is an excellent question, Pat. I don't know why everyone isn't doing it. You mentioned at the Yankees basically a couple years ago, he doesn't work for the team still, but they hired an MIT physicist and basically said like, hey, listen, we could spend all this money like the Dodgers are doing, or you could basically just invent a new baseball bat that hasn't been done in like 200 plus years. So, you know, you move a little bit of the wood around, move more of it into the barrel. So some of these guys who maybe aren't as good as hitters as Aaron Judge is, they can get around on the baseball and they can hit home runs and you know, it kind of just feels like everything is right in the baseball world. Everyone hates the Yankees again. Everyone's saying that they cheat. You know, it's not so much the Dodgers anymore. They come out, they hit 15 dingers over the first three games, beat the out of the brewers every single game. And all is right in the world now. And now you got a bunch of teams and agents reaching out.
A.J. Hawk
Everybody's doing this, right, Ty? Like, didn't you assume every team's going to have these bats?
Ty Schmidt
Multiple teams, yeah, had guys who were using it, but no one, no one obviously was as successful as the Yankees were. But yeah, I would imagine that by today or this week, every team in the majors will have a couple of these torpedo bats on the way.
Pat McAfee
I listened to Jazz Chisholm, the guy that just jacked one right there, talk about it a little bit and he was just like, yeah, they said it's good that year and I love it. I would, I guess the, the more research I did on it and I read on it, I'm not a great reader. Everybody Understands that. But I gu like the max amount of weight and the max amount of girth that you're allowed to have. Basically they just reshaped where that is. And it's like if this has been laying out there forever, the Yankees figuring it out and this physicist figuring it out. I think that's good on you. You know, it's got a nine year NFL vet, obviously. Host of everything. DB Good D, Bad D Darius J. Butler. We're not baseball players at all. D Bucks. But whenever you're doing something that's been available for everybody else to do, I got no problems with that. I, I think it's next level thinking, don't you?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Now we know that the NFL is a copycat league. I don't follow the MLB as much, but assume they're going to be a copycat league as well, right?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, without a doubt. Everyone's going to be doing this.
Darius J. Butler
A.J. can I see that back real quick? Because I know you're explaining it, but you said Aaron Judge isn't using it because of how good of a hitter he is. Where exactly are they putting the wood?
Ty Schmidt
So they're, they're moving it basically from like the. Yeah. Maybe like the handle or other parts of it into like more like around like the barrel or like up a little bit above the barrel, like around the, the kind of like signature there. Because like, like one of the guys they're talking about, Anthony Volpe, he gets jammed a bunch. So they moved some of like the, the sweet spot up there a little bit so he can get around on it and he's, he's catching more bears.
A.J. Hawk
The engraving though, is it where the wording is and where they have like the, the little engraving? That's, that's changed as well though.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, I think that's a bit.
A.J. Hawk
What's the biggest part, like is the mass moving? Is it not having those engravings right in the sweet spot or what?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, I mean, look, it's just, it's. It's moving the sweet spot of the.
Pat McAfee
More wood on the ball.
Ty Schmidt
Exactly.
A.J. Hawk
They're just moving the wood.
Pat McAfee
They're moving the wasted wood. Okay. They kind of dodged the bats. They took the wasted wood and moved it to where a more prevalent part of the bat would be. If, If I'm reading it accurately, Ty, Right? No, yeah, I'm reading it.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, that is correct. They basically. Yeah, because there, there are, like you said, there are certain parameters in, in which the bat has to be. And they're within, you know, like the, the rule book, but they Just there's nothing that says you can't kind of move the wood around to get it to a point in the bat where people are hitting more balls. And that's what they did.
Pat McAfee
That's jazz Chisholm there. Yeah. 13.
Ty Schmidt
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so he's been talking about it, right. And that's the most defined looking photo of the bat that I've seen, I think, out of all the photos. And nobody ever hits it off the tip of the bat. So that's normally where it gets bigger, Right? It normally just kind of like funnels out.
Ty Schmidt
Yep.
Pat McAfee
So you never hit it off the tip. If you do, it's not going anywhere. So them deciding to just push that thing down a little bit, like how the sausage is made, you know, and then like kind of bottling in there, that feels like genius. Are they gonna ban this? How long until they ban this?
Ty Schmidt
I don't know if they'll ban it because it is one saying. I mean, it's kind of. It's kind of like the tush push, almost like there were other teams that were using it this weekend. And, you know, I mean, when the Yankees do it or like if the Dodgers would have do done it, like more people are going to see about it and obviously they hit nine homers in a game, so it kind of, you know, it, it puts a lot more attention on it. But if other teams are available to use this, like, the guy doesn't work. The guy who invented this doesn't work for the Yankees anymore. He works for the Marlins. And there were some people that, yeah, there were some people that used it last year as well. So we'll see. I think maybe if it, if it gets a little bit too much, like if the Yankees are scoring, you know, 20 runs every single game with this going on, I could see them maybe, you know, doing something. But this certainly, I mean, this is a good thing for baseball. You know, they hit 50 home runs in three games. Like it's making the product more entertaining.
Pat McAfee
On that note, we all love dinger baseball. Back when everybody was just eating steroids, we all remember it and that was when it was at its finest. So if this torpedo bat's going to help out with that as the pitching only gets better and better, which seemingly has been the case over the last couple years, I'm all in. I love it whenever, you know, greats try to be innovative. Now, Hembo sent me some stats here. The Yankees have hit 15 home runs, which is tied most all time by any team. Through three games, they tied Who? Evan Fox. Detroit tigers. Which year? 2006. Nailed it. The Yankees have a 0.084 slugging percentage and a 1.231 OPS. What's that?
Ty Schmidt
Very good on base plus slugging.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Both highest by any team through three games. All time. Okay. These Torpedo bats most all time of slugging percentage on base. Aaron Judge thus far, obviously, first 27 games he had four home runs. That was last year. He finished with 58, 20, 25. First three games he has four home runs. So, you know, he had a cold playoffs and he said, why would I change anything with how good I did? It's like, well, maybe we dropped that torpedo in there for Aaron Judge in the playoffs and we start seeing how things go. Baseball had a fantastic weekend. That was great. We'll talk about college hoops, obviously, here in a matter of moments as we Coach Shire joining us from Duke. You know, White Mike is what they were calling him when he was growing up in Illinois to go play hoops a little bit. Can't wait to ask him about that and many other things. The NFL is having quite a weekend. Let's go to 1/2 of the Hammer Cowboys AP Tone what are the odds on how many rules are getting actually changed down at these owners meetings? Tone because he just mentioned it there, the tush bush, that one feels like that one's going to get overturned, that one feels like it's going to get banned. I, I don't, I don't love it. I'm not going to say that I am a proponent of that getting banned. But I believe the tush bush, that one feels like it's on its way out and you already heard it being chatted about in a couple of these reports. Pro football talks talking about it. Schefter's talking about it. A lot of people are talking about it. How people in the competition committee. I guess it got a little bit, a little bit tense in there. I guess there were some people that weren't necessarily thrilled with the thought of banning this entire thing, especially because one team's better at it than all the other teams. But they did mention the precedent of the special teams pushing from the tight end or from the linebackers on the D tackles for field goal blocks. It just feels like everybody doesn't want to say publicly that they want it to be gone because they're all football guys and somebody's innovative. And I forget who said it. Somebody said it this morning in their meeting about like any maybe being, I don't know, anytime somebody creates a play or Sean McDermott. Anytime somebody is innovative with the sport, you never want to punish them for it. But it does feel as if there is a lingering kind of. It feels like they're going to get rid of this particular play tone. Is that an accurate reading from what you're getting and how many of the you think to actually get passed at this owners meetings down here?
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, I feel, I feel like that's an accurate reading from everything that's coming out. Obviously you're starting to get the ins.
Pat McAfee
Not saying it should be. I'm saying it should be correct. I'm just saying, like, feels like everybody that's in the room where it happens is like, I don't want to say this publicly because I'm a football guy, but also, come on, come on, come on. We got £900 worth of dudes pushing people like this. Can't one team's able to do it, nobody else is able to do it. And then the Eagles are like, so that's on us. And it's like, I'm not saying that it should be banned. I'm just saying it feels like there is a, a ground support, a swell happening behind the scenes, like an underground type of convo about not wanting it in the game. Feels like it just from reading from the outside. And I'm in London, but that's just reading the tea leaves and the crumpets, if you will.
Ian Rapoport
No, I think you are, you are reading the tea leaves and the crumpets very well because, you know, the insiders are now coming out and reporting that there's a groundswell for this to be banned. And once that starts happening, it feels like that's normally something that does happen. Like, because if they're getting that info from somewhere and I would assume it's the league, and once that info starts coming out and they, they get those votes that they want, you can assume that the push push is potentially no more. The other rules that I think are probably going to get past the regular season overtime, matching the playoff overtime, that just makes sense. Like we talked about that there's no reason for those not to match. The moving the kickoff touchback to the 35. That also feels like there's a groundswell because going from, as we talked about the 25 to the 30 wasn't a big enough penalty for the touchback in that situation. More replay assist. That makes sense. I mean, there's no reason not. We've talked about it many, many times. If we can just have the replay assistant, you know, voice down and say, hey, you had it wrong. Let's just move it to here, move it to there. That seems like it. The two that are. I don't see the defensive holding, illegal contact not resulting in a first down. Like that's because we know these DBs, third and 15, they're just going to tackle guys. There's no reason not to. I don't see that one getting past it. But the most interesting one I think that is up in there is the wild card seeding. Whether you know, a 14 and three Minnesota Vikings would have to travel to LA if that game was in LA in that situation. Like is that going to happen where the higher seated or the better win percentage team will have to go to the division winner as an away game. That one is interesting. I got no idea if that one's going to pass or not. I don't even have a feeling on that one.
Pat McAfee
Tom brings up a good point there about defensive holding and illegal contact. You guys will game the shit out of that one. So that's going to feel tough to change. But also wild card seeding with how successful the playoffs have been thus far, I don't see him touching it. What are your thoughts on all these debugs?
Darius J. Butler
Yeah, I don't. I don't see him touching that either. I don't see him touching the defensive holding illegal contact 1 because it is a defensive rule. And I can't remember the last time they made a significant change to help the defense. Obviously they like selling tickets, they like scoring touchdowns, first downs, quarterbacks, we know how that goes. Replay assist. That sounds great. We had the conversation last year. I feel like every few years a conversation where it's a team who like the vikings last year, 13, 14 games didn't have to go on the road. But I kind of, I'm. I guess maybe old school in this mind frame of winning your division means something. You know, winning that division, getting that home playoff game, that's a big deal. So I would be hopeful that they leave that one as is.
Pat McAfee
Age, what do you think? Age, what are your thoughts?
A.J. Hawk
I wonder if there's. I wonder if there's a possibility that none of these pass is there. Could there be. Could they come out of here with. With nothing. They get nothing done. Because I the tush push situation that I think you're right. It feels like that thing will. Will get banned. I don't think it should be banned.
Darius J. Butler
I feel like was McDermott against the tush push because I know the second.
A.J. Hawk
I know we ran it.
Boston Connor
Yeah, they Were unbelievable at it.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Until the. Until matter when it mattered most.
Ian Rapoport
He feels like there's some.
Pat McAfee
Amazing. Yeah, we're eating. Like, they're testing out the old speakers over here in the O2. Let me tell you. Yeet is sounding f. It's just me. Oo, you know, it. It's been quite a time. But you're right about the amount of rules that actually get changed. And like, normally we talk about the NFL as like a big, slow moving ship where they kind of like set like little seeds in place and then, you know, I mean, it is. The speakers are great here in the O2. There's. There's a residency that happens here. It's called 21 Nights at the O2. And they have, like, awards in the back. I guess Prince's photo is like, in the front of it. He has, like, the silhouette. So I guess there's only a certain amount of artists that have done 21 nights here that claim residency here. This is an awesome arena. Hey, all these. They're much. I don't know if they get used as much or don't get used as much. Whatever it is, everything is so clean, brand new. Like, you know what I mean? Like, everything is.
Darius J. Butler
I don't know if it's because, like, home arena.
Pat McAfee
What's that, brother? Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Does any team. Is there a sport played there or is it just concerts and wrestling and everything?
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, because they don't have a lot of indoor sport.
A.J. Hawk
You're right.
Boston Connor
Yeah.
Ian Rapoport
Over there.
Pat McAfee
So maybe that's why they're all so nice. Like, they're all so like, all the seats are, like, brand new. You know, like, it looks. It looks very good. But with that being said, all these rules have had seeds in place for a few years. You know, all these things have kind of started like the tush push. Granted, that one's brand new, but I think they were talking about it last year, trying to ban it. Yep. The postseason overtime stuff. Seeds, right since the 13 seconds. Touch back to 35. Well, they moved it to 30. So seeds, they already did that one replay assist. They started doing it more towards the end of the season without telling anybody. Seeds, they're in that one. And then the defensive holding in, illegal contact, wild card seeding. Those are basically the two that we've never really seen them kind of try to navigate. So I think that's potentially why we have a doubt in it. Con man, what are your thoughts on it all, brother?
Boston Connor
I mean, I think moving the kickoff would be the one that would actually change the game. Damn near the most. Because, I mean, how many. What was the increase in plays that we already had last year? It was, you know, astronomical. And then if you're thinking about moving that thing to the 35, does that completely change the. Hey, we're just kicking the ball out of the back of the end zone because I feel like it might just. Because, you know, you mentioned it moving the ball from the 25 to the 35 yards. Okay, you know, fine. But now moving that thing to the 35, you really are two first downs away from a field goal. So it feels like that would kind of create a lot more things we saw. You know, the Cowboys, their season last year obviously didn't go great, but some of their best moments came from Turpin, you know, against the Commanders, that. That kick return touchdown against the Browns. He had the punt return. But it does feel like moving the kickoff touchback to the 35 would actually then lead to, you know, kind of having to aim for that landing zone. Because in the super bowl, the biggest game of the year, we didn't see one kick return. You know, and I do feel like if they. If that ball was coming out to the 35, that that would kind of actually change the entire thing. So I think that would be the best rule to change than the other ones. You know, it's just kind of is what it is.
Pat McAfee
Speaking of, you know, the super bowl and everything, like, there's going to be times where teams decide to just blast it out and give the ball to the 35. Like, if the other offense is not doing great and defense is doing well, we'll just give it to them in a 35. But just giving. Forfeiting a first down all of a sudden, and the percentage of scoring, I think teams will land it in the landing zone. A person who might have a little bit more information on all this is a guy who is down at the meeting. Ladies and gentlemen, senior insider for NFL Network, which is that going to be owned by ESPN soon. A lot of rumblings. Ladies and gentlemen, Ian Rapaport.
Gumpy
What's going on, guys?
Pat McAfee
You look super cool, bro. So good.
Gumpy
Appreciate it. This is my. It's my Kentucky Derby suit from last year. Got to repurpose it for these events. I think it really fits in kind of with this atmosphere. And I gotta say, gotten some compliments. Gotten a lot of compliments.
Pat McAfee
Really? What? You look tall.
Gumpy
Interestingly, nobody has said that.
Pat McAfee
I saw.
Gumpy
I saw Caboli, by the way.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Wearing a suitable. Yeah, the world saw Caboli. Yeah. Can you post that photo of Caboli sitting next to Mike Tomlin. One of the most important press conferences that's happening at the owner's meeting is. Is Mike Tomlin speaking about Aaron Rodgers. And all anybody can talk about is how damn good Mark Cabola looks. Wow.
Gumpy
I don't know when you guys picked up this press conference. Yeah, God, that's that. You know, there's an account that takes sports pictures and turns them into art. You know, it's like art, but make it sports or something. Like, they got to do this picture. They got to do this picture.
Pat McAfee
To be clear. To be clear. Caboli was there early. Okay. He represents the program well. He got a front row seat. Literally. Think about how many people are trying to get to the spot that he got to. And instead, it's just Caboli, baby got his cell phone. I'm gonna record this for myself. And he's so focused that it's gonna appear as if he's actually snoozing, sleeping, drooling. Wow. Mike Tomlin speaking. And that's that. So different.
Gumpy
Do you know he made. He made Tomlin laugh so hard today. He made Tomlin almost spit out his drink to the yes at the end.
Boston Connor
Yeah, he was just looking.
Pat McAfee
About the candy. Is it about the candy where he says, I heard me and DK Metcalf have the same candy consumption.
Gumpy
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Roll it.
A.J. Hawk
Apparently, we have the same appetite with.
John Shire
For candy, me and dk.
Boston Connor
You hear about that?
Pat McAfee
No, I didn't.
Boston Connor
Apparently he eats four or five candy bars a day.
A.J. Hawk
Really?
Pat McAfee
Really.
A.J. Hawk
That's what he said on the podcast.
Darius J. Butler
He wears it a little differently than you.
Ty Schmidt
Perfect.
Pat McAfee
Pretty good. Tom Tomlin's always locked in for those two. He's always given incredible clips. Let's start there. He talked about Aaron Rodgers, about how there's a process of the offseason. You know, we're trying to construct a team. You do it through free agency. If you can't get through free agency, you go through the draft, obviously. Aaron Rodgers allegedly was broken on NFL Network this morning on Good Morning Football. I believe by one of your paisano friends that Aaron Rodgers had a throwing session this past weekend with DK Metcalf at ucla. Now, was DK at UCLA at the same time time Aaron was at UCLA and they just so happened to throw to each other. Or was this something that was organized and set up? What are you kind of reading through this all Ian? Especially down there, boots on the ground with a used suit that everybody seemingly.
Gumpy
Likes, only used once. Lightly used, I think is the proper term. It's not yet.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
Gumpy
Anyway. Yeah, yeah. Still, it still looks amazing. This was not a coincidence. This was not like, you know, Matthew Stafford running into Brady at Yellowstone. This was a planned throw and say, sounds like it went very well from my understanding. It was lengthy. It was, you know, Rodgers has his process. I think it's probably not as fast as many people would like. This is what he needs. It might be his last stop. Probably is his last stop. Needs to make sure it's right. That includes throwing with the newly acquired star receiver for the team. Okay, it sounds like, first of all, it wasn't exactly a secret. There were several other players, some rookies were trading kind of around. Like, it wasn't much of a secret, but it was. It was a ucla. It did go well. It was, you know, part of the process for Rodgers to say, all right, maybe this is my eventual destination. And it seems to me unless the Vikings do a complete about face from what they've said publicly, that would be his only spot. So it feels like a matter of time. But as you probably know, getting in the head of Aaron Rodgers and trying to figure out what he's up to is difficult. So I will sort of wait till it gets firm and final. But that's just my general feel on it.
A.J. Hawk
Ian, is there a chance, like, is there a deadline? Like, is there a certain date where something has to happen one way or the other here?
Gumpy
So the Steelers, and I think this is a little bit why. There's a lot of reasons. Mike Thomas, like, the best. He really does respect the players, whether his future players or his current players. He respects their process. He respects their sort of their desires. And it's obvious Rodgers wants time. So they haven't said to him, like, all right, we need an answer by March 31st or whatever. And he would be like, do you, though? Like, you know, there's no actual deadline anyway, the draft is really the next time where things get real. Because if you're the Steelers and you have Mason Rudolph, who I think they would be okay entering the season with, obviously you'd like Aaron Rodgers, but they'd be okay with Mason. If it's not Rogers, they might draft someone. And obviously you would need to know by the draft. So that's kind of the only real deadline. And like, we've seen this before when he was going to the jets, it was. It was the Tuesday of draft week.
Pat McAfee
Right.
Gumpy
If I remember correctly, when the deal got done, like, I don't know when Rodgers is going to decide or when he's Going to make his announcement or whatever it ends up being. But if you told me it was draft week, like, I wouldn't be that shocked because that's the only time actually sort of an answer needs to be given.
Pat McAfee
Everybody's saying it's potentially going down on April 9th at Big Night. That's everybody, really. I don't know that, though. Everybody's saying that.
Gumpy
Have you talked to the person who's running?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I have. I have. Every day I talk to that person. I'm sick in the mirror, I'll be honest. I am been talking to him for 37 years. I'm about, I'm about Dumblech guy. But yeah, he, that person has not heard anything about that. And that person also very intrigued about how it all works out, especially because, I mean, city of Pittsburgh, they got a team. They got a team, always have a team. If you get a Hall of Fame quarterback over there, I know some yenzers are going to be kind of cold to start, but they're probably cold to start on Russell Wilson, you know, depending upon what the deal is for Aaron, if he was to go there. And allegedly the contract has already been decided by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers for weeks.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
So whenever that number is announced, whatever it is, we assume we might be wrong. Unless, you know, that is going be a low number, not that big of a number. It's not going to be a gigantic number. And I think ginzers will be like, all right, let's go on a run here. Let's see what the hell we can have. And then maybe they still draft a quarterback in that whole thing. Okay, let's go down to Florida where you are at. Do you know the number? Do you know the number? Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
You act like you know, I don't.
Gumpy
Know, but I was told manageable. Like, I think you're, I, I, I believe what you are saying, that it'll be something where no one's going to be like 58, you know, like, it's not going to be like, like that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Or 40. I don't, I don't think it's gonna be any. I think it's gonna be. Once again, I've not talked to any of the parties involved in weeks. A.J. yeah, A.J. might know.
A.J. Hawk
Actually, I don't numbers wise. I was gonna ask Ian what's the range. Like, what, what do you, what could he sign for?
Darius J. Butler
What did Florio say?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, what Florio say? What did Schultz say?
Pat McAfee
Well, he said, give me a latte rapper, I'll slap you in the Mouth. They know what he said.
Gumpy
My God.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
What's the range?
Gumpy
The. As far as what the actual number is? I just, to be honest, I do not know. And I don't think they're there yet where they could say, like, all right, it's deals agreed to, just waiting on Rogers. I think there's still some things that need to be finalized. But I would agree with you guys. Like, I'd be a little like you. Pat, you were saying, it seemed like you were saying might be under 40. Like, I think that's probably right because there is a history of veteran quarterbacks signing either with their own teams or with, you know, new teams, kind of last year of their career or maybe second or whatever. It ends up being understanding. Like, I've made a lot of money. The number doesn't have to make it because you want to build the team around them. So that's kind of what I expect.
Pat McAfee
Aaron Rodgers has actually made the most. Just. I don't want to be pocket watching here, but NFL money is all very publicly broadcasted. Aaron has been the most successful whenever it comes to cash. And obviously that is a good thing, especially if you're somebody that gives back. Philanthropist of the year in California. Thank you, Aaron. Let's go. Okay, so let's get to. Let's. You were never philanthropist of the year in any of the states that you live in. You're absolute to remember that when I'm not yet talking about here.
Gumpy
Not yet. Not yet.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you're right. Boozeback, maybe some of the cities. Okay. I was with a couple professional booze bags yesterday. You would have loved it. Have you ever done a London booze bag tour?
Gumpy
No, I need to, I need to get over. I mean, this is my wheelhouse. I saw on your social media you were hanging out in London. Now, how many pints? What's like a good number?
Pat McAfee
I don't know. I, I. No, I was having, like, the local one that they had at each place. So each place had, like their own thing people.
Gumpy
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Well, I just, I'm never gonna get to try it again. So when I was there, I was like, I might as well give it a go. And they have these bitter beers. There's like a bitter beer. And I really thought the bitter beer face. Yeah, exactly. It was not like that at all. We're talking water. Those things were. See ya. Yeah, it was really. And I did, I did put on a show a couple times. With the guzzling abilities. Yeah, you know, always with the guzzling. Okay, let's Move to the owner's meeting, shall we? Because you have information that we do not have and we need information. And to be clear, we have a guest in 10 minutes that we need to talk to. That is not LeBron. But it's got a lot going. I mean a huge.
Gumpy
That was good, by the way.
Boston Connor
Twice as tall as you.
Pat McAfee
Thank you.
Gumpy
I mean, that's.
Pat McAfee
Oh, that.
Gumpy
That's a really high bot. LeBron stuff was great. I thought that was a.
Pat McAfee
Awesome.
Gumpy
There's a lot.
Pat McAfee
Thank you. That was very kind of you. Fascinating, I believe, is what you texted me in the middle of it. You weren't the only one. Okay, so my Hembo stats say that The Eagles since 2022 are 108 of 124 whenever it comes to tush pushes, which is 87 of the time. Now, it used to be above 90. I think it was 92%. That's why the New Height podcast is 92 percenters, because that was when Jason Kelsey was in there, obviously. He's a masterpiece of it all. I am reading the tea and crumpet leaves from afar here in London. It feels as if there is a little bit of a groundswell from NFL people to ban this play. Is that accurate? But nobody wants to come out publicly and say. Because they all want to be known as football guys.
Gumpy
Well, the. Some of the packers people have come out publicly. Brian Gudekins just did media. I talked to him afterward. He has come out publicly and said essentially this is. First of all, let me say this. I don't know that it's getting banned, but I do feel kind of like you're saying the groundswell may be rewriting it. So, like, is it going to go away? I don't know. But rewriting it would make some sense. And I think what they're nervous about is like the NFL, NFL officials have said very publicly there's not enough injury data to see if it's something that like, long term could be a play that's sort of like an injury filled play. But what they're nervous about is some catastrophic injury to like an offensive lineman. I think the center is probably most at risk. And then you. And then you react and say, then ban it. So I think they're trying to get ahead of it and say, how can we make it just a little bit safer? Eliminate it? I don't know. But I do feel the groundswell of like, let's try to make this a little bit safer before anything.
A.J. Hawk
Does that mean like one pusher? Like, what does that mean?
Gumpy
Maybe, or I'm not 100% sure. I mean, one pusher might make sense. Or maybe one push, like, maybe that would be a way to do it. Like I just stopped.
Pat McAfee
That'll be easy.
Gumpy
Sometimes one thrust is all you need.
A.J. Hawk
All I need.
Pat McAfee
True. In football, we know that is all you got too.
Gumpy
But like in football.
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But when are you talking about officiating this? We're putting more judgment calls now into the ref's hands. I don't know if that's good play. I'll be.
Gumpy
I know, I know. This is the challenge.
Pat McAfee
Them starting to mention the precedent of the field goal block team not being able to push years ago. And then now it feels like there's a chance this thing gets banned. Who knows? Let's move some other conversations. D, Bud has a question for you. Rap.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah. Down in Florida with the Dolphins, Tyreek Hill kind of stirring the pot a little bit as he usually does on the Internet. I think somebody may have tweeted, hey, who is that pro, that player most likely to be trading on draft night? Somebody said Tyree Hill. I think he quoted it. Are you hearing anything with real decision makers as far as Tyreek Hill possibly moving this offseason or at any point from the Dolphins?
Gumpy
First of all, I haven't. And I think he, you know, he does speak a lot on social media. He does sort of have his say. And I think this is good because you sort of want people to be able to speak their mind on social media, right? I think that's okay.
Pat McAfee
I have not heard talking points there. Way to read your talk. I think this is.
Gumpy
No, I mean, just in general, like, what I don't want to do is sort of like players should have the ability to speak their minds. Like, even if it annoys teams, they should have this ability. I have not heard that he was going to be traded. He also was recovering from wrist surgery, so trading some same thing with the Brandon Iuk sort of trade rumors or whatever you'd even call it. You know, rarely do teams trade for people who are not fully healthy. So I think that would be complicated. I think trading for his contract will be complicated. Could the Dolphins get enough where it would be worth it? I don't know. I don't think so. So I don't see a ton here except that probably we'll get him some retreats.
A.J. Hawk
Bossicaro's got something for you, Ian.
Boston Connor
Yeah, Rap sheet. Another situation going on actually, here in Indianapolis. Dan Jones and AR are officially splitting QB1 reps. Is this going to be a true, you know, quarterback competition? Someone's got to win. Is there no one? One with kind of a leg up? I think most people would assume Anthony Richardson would have that. What are you kind of hearing with that situation?
Gumpy
Yeah, I talked to Steichen about this, Shane Steichen about this today. Basically said splitting reps, 50, 50. They've been told, they've been informed how it's going to go and it's going to be a storyline every day. And I hope that that is really the case because the only thing that really matters for the Colts is the best quarterback. Like you've already drafted Anthony Richardson. You ready to give him a big signing bonus as an early first round pick? He's already had two years. Daniel Jones got the money. He got. He gets 14 million base, whatever it ends up being. Money's been paid, the draft picks have been made. The only thing that matters is who is the best quarterback for the Colts. And so I hope it's fair. I hope it's real. And like you guys have been in locker rooms, not all of you, but a lot of you guys have been in locker rooms. The players generally know, the players generally sort of decide and I think at the end of camp it will be obvious and I think that's who will be the Colts quarterback.
Pat McAfee
The highlights we're showing there of him with the Patriots, if he plays like that, he's unstoppable. Yeah, that was the final drive, I mean, the Patriots and it was Anthony Richardson playing his best football that he's ever played for us. And obviously there's moments of magic there where Anthony Richardson's the only one that can do some of the stuff that he does. Does. Hopefully he's able to figure it out this year. Hopefully he's able to stay healthy. And if he can't beat Daniel Jones out, Daniel Jones fresh into a brand new offensive system, brand new building. I think that is obviously a situation that he'll have to learn from going forward. There is a world where Anthony Richardson doesn't win this quarterback competition. I'm not saying that that's going to happen, but there is. And then let's say it doesn't work out with the Colts. He's going to go to another team and be so great.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, because it would be like a. I've thought about that this weekend while I was traveling. Traveling. I'm like, Anthony Richardson is going to win a quarterback competition against Daniel Jones. You would assume, and then you would assume this off season with how loud everything's been, ourselves included, that he would like be like, okay, I gotta lock in very young. But he like, okay to be a professional quarterback. There's a lot that goes to it. Like, hopefully now it is kind of something it all buys into. And then I thought to myself, well, what if Daniel Jones wins, like, clearly, and they decide to move on from Anthony Richardson? It's like, well, there's the moment then that'll tell him that he needs to lock in and be a pro. And it's like, then he'll go somewhere else and become a Hall of Famer. So whatever the case is, good luck, Anthony. I hope it's winning with us. I do. I hope it's with the Indianapolis folks. Are you getting news there, Rap Sheet? Are you getting some news? What's going on?
Gumpy
Just text from my wife. I'll answer in a second.
Pat McAfee
Tell her we said hello. Did you guys winning your horse bets this weekend?
Gumpy
Jude was the only one who won, of course.
Darius J. Butler
Hey.
Pat McAfee
June, That's a big English thing, isn't it? Guy has a question for you. I think so, yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Rap Sheet. I know you mentioned it about like the Vikings and JJ McCarthy, but they haven't officially said. Said he's the guy, even though everyone is very excited about him. Are they going to keep doing this? Will they, won't they with Rogers? Because they haven't officially shut the door on that or at some point soon here, are we going to get confirmation that like, no, we're going with JJ McCarthy and we think he's going to be our guy because obviously Koc has spoken glowingly about him as well.
Gumpy
Yeah. And Koc was just on with my buddy Pelissero on Nephil Network. I think he posted either the video or the. Or the comments. I think it was pretty strong that JJ is the guy. But even if they don't come out and say it like, we know and I think, like, yes, I think they'd like him to earn it, but I think it will probably happen. It sounded like last year, early part of training camp before the injury. He was really impressive anyway. So, like, I know some people have sort of said like, maybe Aaron Rodgers there, like, anything's possible. I would never rule anything out in the world, but it feels like JJ for sure to me. JJ to jj. And hearing the comments of Vikings people today and this week seems to emphasize that even more.
Pat McAfee
Okay, last question here from Aptone.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, Rap Sheet, let's stick with the quarterbacks. It was reported that the Ravens are in early talks with an extension for Lamar Jackson, does that have anything to do with Josh Allen's contract getting torn up and him getting a new deal? Or is. Is it I saw he's a big cap hit coming up this next season or is it just Lamar's earned this, obviously, and deserves an extension?
Gumpy
I think it has more to do with the cap hit than with Josh Allen. But like Josh Allen getting it now, he got a great deal for him because basically what they did was they ripped up his own deal. Not they didn't just extend it, tack on some money. They kind of started new, which you've never seen teams do. But I think that sort of sets a little bit of the benchmark of where Lamar might be. So if Josh Allen comes in at 55, maybe Lamar is a little bit over that because generally the next guy is a little bit higher. But I think, yeah, it has to do with if they're going to do something to lower his cap it, which I know they would like to do. You know, he's your guy. You have no doubt he deserves everything. A pay raise makes sense. A new contract makes sense. And I could see it getting done. Absolutely.
Pat McAfee
Last question for me before we let you go. Enjoy that Florida weather while you're wearing a Kentucky Derby suit. Again, the vote happened tomorrow. How many of these will pass? We got a graphic here, basically everything we know of being proposed. How many of these end up passing? Tush push. Yes. I'm going to vote for myself here. Tush push, yes. Touchback 30. Let me just roll through here. Tosh Bush, Yes. Regular season OT Yes. Touch back to the 35. Yes. Defensive holding and illegal contact. We all discuss. We don't think that's going to get passed. Replay assist. We think it will. Wild card seating, we don't think it will. Will these all be voted on tomorrow and what are your thoughts on the outcome?
Gumpy
Tush pushes tomorrow. Unless they say, you know what, let's reconsider it in May at Minnesota meetings, which might happen. Happen regular season ot, that seems like a pretty good. We'll see. I don't know if all some of these might be today, but I think the bulk of them is. Is probably tomorrow. And I think what you're looking at, I mean replay assist, like I feel pretty strongly that's like we've already seen a lot of that in play.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Gumpy
Have we not like. So I think that's probably an easy one. Wild card seeding, I'd be surprised about just because that seems like such a drastic. I think we'll get a couple of these. But to me, like, the Tush push band is probably generating the most conversation. Usually when there's a lot of conversation, they want to have more conversation. So maybe we do end up talking about this in May.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Sticking a pin in it. We'll circle back. Not a bad idea. I guess the NFL has done that before. We appreciate the hell out of you, brother.
Gumpy
All right, thank you, guys. Pat, enjoy those pints. I will be. Obviously, I'm not doing any pint drinking down here. Of course. But I'll be there in spirit here.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I did all the pints yesterday that I could handle. I think I'm good on pints for a while. I mean, it was a lot of pint. Those things get heavy, you know, and then the squirt. Obviously, I've heard. I've heard, ladies and. Yeah, you've heard. Obviously. Never experienced. Ladies and gentlemen, the interrap before it was a lot of pints, dude.
A.J. Hawk
Really? Like Ireland. Ireland type or.
Boston Connor
Yeah. Bitters.
Pat McAfee
Not as many as Ireland. Not as many. Ireland was just such a sprint, you know, that was. That one went real fast. This one was like starting. Started at 1:00 in the afternoon and then went till about 10:00 at night. And then it was just like kind of just bouncing around place to place along the Thames river, which I guess has a lot of history. I guess there's a lot of history. And it was high tide yesterday, so some water came up. Up onto the. Up on the sidewalk thing. It was. I had to represent, though, you know, like, I had to represent. That's how I always feel in these situations. Like, especially with the way the world is now without America's being viewed, you know, I always feel like I gotta represent. So I'll take your local one. Okay. And I'll take whatever you all are doing. I'll do it as well, and then we'll go to the next one. You know, in. In good spirits. In good spirits.
A.J. Hawk
Is it Michael, I would imagine Michael Cole was a great American, you know, partner, when it comes to something like that. Representing. If you're boozing.
Pat McAfee
Michael Cole was boozing. Yeah, but Michael Cole is older, you know, so there was a time where thinner. Grumpy Cole. Grumpy Cole came out. He. He was. You know, we were sitting at his one beer garden and I looked at Michael Cole and we had both basically had enough, you know, we both basically been. We've been through it, you know. And I looked over at Cole and he did like this because he had some pouches in or whatever and he did this spit into the rocks and he still had a little bit on his lip, you know, and he did the whole hoop cares. And I was, we've probably done enough here. We've probably done enough here. Then, then we tried to drive back to where we were staying and you know, they got round to boots everywhere and they go the wrong direction. So you can get clipped pretty quick. You know, if you don't watch and the people driving by you, you forget that the passenger is actually on the left side, drivers on the right. So it's like kind of weird. Like you see like a 12 year old sitting in the passenger seat that's like, is that person driving? And then, you know, comes up and then it's on the other side. So but where we were driving to was like 10, 15 minute drive. But they shut down two of these roundabouts and I'll tell you what, you shut down two roundabouts, you're not getting about anywhere. And we had to walk that thing. So we did like a 2 mile hike last night at the end of this whole thing. So it was a good time. Everything's been great. I really enjoyed. The weather was nice, the people were nice, the pints were good. Some better than others certainly. But yeah, it's been a lot of fun. And tonight's show should be, well, I guess today's show for you guys back stateside should be absolutely absurd. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now is a man who's a national champion. Champion as a Hooper for Duke. Guess what he's doing now, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
I think he's on the path to another one, Pat, isn't he?
Pat McAfee
As a coach at his alma mater, there's only been three times in the history of college hoops where somebody's won a national championship and then guided their team back to at least the final four as the head coach. Ladies and gentlemen, attitude. White Mic coach John Shire. How are you?
John Shire
I'm doing great. Well, I feel like I've arrived. Pat McAfee show with all you guys. I feel like I've arrived. So thank you.
Pat McAfee
You're in the final four. Okay. You have arrived. Okay, let's just make sure that is understood. Not on here has anything to do with that. But congrats, coach. Obviously we just read off your accolades and before we get to the team and I'm sure the boys will have some, you know, college hoops question and this team question for me, I just want to go back to the White Mike story. This is how I was introduced to you. Okay. I just want to let you know that I was introduced to your greatness via a story being told about how, yeah, John will come down into Chicago and there'll be people that would be walking to go watch this dude, White Mike. And then obviously, you had some time in the league. You get injured, everything goes, and you become a coach. But growing up, you were. The guy is national champion at Duke. Whenever you think about that perspective, how much has that helped you in either recruiting or in coaching or how do you. How much do you lean on being that dude that you were for so long now in your coaching world? Coach?
John Shire
Well, you know what, Pat? I think the biggest thing for me is, you know, I had to get outside my environment growing up. And so anywhere there was a game in Chicago, I don't care where it was, I would go. And, you know, I think the biggest pride I found was having to find your own footing. You know, for me, it was just showing my game. And so I would go everywhere and play there. Was nice of Pat Bev, to. To give me that love and to share those stories. I don't know if they called me White Mike, but I think they did have respect for the way I played. And so for me, the fact that I coach guys from all over the world, play with different guys from everywhere, I think that's just helped me understand different perspectives and connect with different people.
Pat McAfee
Well, I think they did call you White Mike, and I think that type of hype is something that you have to have a lot of confidence to have being kind of said about you. And speaking of confidence, following in Coach K's foot like that is putting on those boots at that school. What I. I mean, it's Krzyzewski ville outside. I think his office is there. It's like everything is Coach K's USA coach. He's the. So whoever was going to come in there afterwards had to be a very confident individual. Feels like you've been able to do it, but also in your own way. Do you feel that way? Do you think your team is vastly different than maybe a Coach K team? Yeah.
John Shire
Well, I think I just had to accept right away the comparisons are going to be there, but really come to terms with. I didn't have to come to terms. I knew right away I'm not. I'm not Coach K. Nobody else is. And so I found just great confidence in who I am as a person. Understand you're not going to bat a thousand. You know, I wish. I wish you were, but there's decisions you can make along the way that aren't perfect. And to be able to keep that confidence, to be able to be authentic to who you are, to me, is the most important thing. And so I think for our players, they understand. And I'm not trying to be anybody different. I am who I am. And I think there's a lot of great things to it. I'll tell you this, though. I think we're playing modern way, you know, modern basketball. The way we share it, the way we, you know, play with pace and how versatile our team is, I think is really the way the game should be played and just a modern way of playing right now.
A.J. Hawk
Coach, can you describe what it's like from the start of the tournament until now? Obviously, obviously, Final Four, we all know what's on the line, but you have these young guys that are unbelievable superstars, but ultimately untested when it comes to, you know, the brightest lights, the big stage, you know, like, as a player and a coach, how does every single round, like, does it amp up the intensity? And how do you find a way to keep your team kind of focused and dialed and not make too big of a deal of the whole situation?
John Shire
I think for me, AJ the biggest thing for our guys, you know, fact is, we play five freshmen, you know, in our rotation, and all five of them in high school, they could have probably played at 50, 60% and still been by far the best player. And so from day one, for me, it's been about setting an expectation of understanding what the standard is, but then also preparing to be at your best when your best is required. And that's what the tournament is all about. It's not best out of five, it's not best out of seven. You get one game. And so the fact that we were able to bring in really competitive dudes who play the right way and let you coach them, I think we've been able to create an environment on our team where they're not afraid of the moment, they're not afraid of the spotlight, and they've set a standard for themselves with how hard they play all the time. And that's what I hope you guys see when you watch us, how together we are, but most importantly, how hard we play. And I think for a young group to have that is a big time thing.
Pat McAfee
Here's a Hembo stat for you, coach, that you probably already know or somebody on your staff has told you. Duke's Freshmen have played 434 minutes in the NCAA tournament. The other three Final Four teams have combined 160 minutes by their freshman, 163 minutes by their freshman. But we're at the end of the year, obviously, so you feel as if your team's a bit battle tested. You guys haven't lost since February 8th. Okay. I don't want to jinx anything, but, hey, you got to win a bunch of games in the tournament to win a national championship anyway. So that just is going to be. Have to be how it is. Talk about that gu right there. Okay. Obviously we knew the main event coming out of high school because we have a guy from Boston who's been hyping him up for a while. We have Duke fans obviously, scattered throughout the entire show. AJ Growing up, was a Duke fan. D Bone, one of our graphics guys, a massive Duke fan. So I think there's a lot of people that have paid attention to Duke throughout the years. Getting Cooper flag was obviously a massive talking point. Has he lived up to everything you thought you were getting in Cooper flag? And every piece that I see about him, the more I like, this dude could be in high school school right now still. Allegedly. Is that accurate?
John Shire
That's accurate. I mean, look, we have two guys that really are a year below the class that they're in. Cooper and then. Come on, Malawatch, you know, come on. Should be in high school as well, you know, our starting center.
Pat McAfee
And.
John Shire
And so, you know, look, both those guys.
A.J. Hawk
But.
John Shire
But you asked about Cooper. You would love him even more if you saw him every day, Pat. You know, the way he goes about his business. He knows no other way than to compete like crazy. You know, he's had moments where he hasn't played as well in practice and got knocked back. And the. The best part is he takes full responsibility. Like, there's no fighting it. Like, he'll come to me after some practice and say, man, I suck today. I'm gonna be better for you tomorrow, Coach.
Darius J. Butler
And.
John Shire
And first of all, he didn't suck that day. He's. That's the first thing again. But the fact that he thinks that and. And comes back with such a killer instinct all the time. He's one of one in that regard and so competitive. And then the other thing is he has a unique ability in game to understand what's required to win. And some games it's blocking shots. Other games it's, you know, leading us in assists. Other games it's getting 30 or 40 points. It's just a feel that I don't think you can teach.
Pat McAfee
He's fun to watch. And he'll throw oops too, all over the place. You know, it's like his handle's absurd, his shots insane. He's able to go underneath, he'll bang. And the fact you got two high schoolers leading your team to the Final Four. Congratulations. Congratulations. White Mike and coach put a whistle around White Mike's neck. You think you guys will figure it out? DBut has a question for you. John.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah, John, big yukon guy here. UConn alumni. We went through the last couple tournaments, last tournament, tournament pretty dominant. So we didn't have pretty, you know, a lot of close calls. You guys haven't had many close calls either. One kind of close game with Arizona. Does that worry you at all going into this Houston matchup? And what are, what are the biggest, I guess, challenges facing this Houston team?
John Shire
Well, I think, you know, first of all, when you talk about close games, I think it shows a great killer instinct when, you know, during the game there's going to be different inflection points where it can either be, you know, you think about Arizona, it was, you know, seven, eight point game. Alabama, the same thing with about an eight minute, eight point game with, you know, eight, seven, eight minutes to go. To be able to know in those moments to keep your foot on the gas and get separation, I think that's a skill and our team has had that this year. Hopefully we can do that. But we're fully expecting against Houston, it's going to be a possession by possession kind of game. My first, first year coaching, you know, we get it. We get one scrimmage to go against anybody I wanted to scrimmage Houston, and the reason I wanted scrimmage Houston, year one, I wanted our guys to understand the level of physicality, you know, a team like them would play against and the togetherness and the job that Kelvin Sampson does. He's as good as any coach in the country, period. So the respect we have for them is off the charts. We know it's going to be a slower paced game. We know it's going to be a physical game. Still diving in them some. But look, it's their. If you look at their analytics, statistically, they're as good as any team in the last 10 years of college basketball. They're right there with anybody. So we're excited. We know it's going to be a big time challenge. And the job they do on defense is off the charts.
Pat McAfee
You talk about Coach Sampson there. Obviously he's been around. We've seen Houston go on many runs. The last school Called him Kevin, I think. And then their social team. His name's Kelvin, and the L is actually the same one he just handed you. So they got a little swag down there, a little bit of. In this entire thing. ESPN research pulled this up, John, just to make you feel young or good. Samson and Shire will be on opposing benches in the semifinal. When Sampson began his first season as a D1 head coach in 1987 at Washington State, Shire was four months old. You know, so he's got a little experience. He's got. He's got a little experience on you, but, you know. Experience. Yeah, exactly. Boston. Connor has a question for you, Coach.
Boston Connor
Yeah, Coach. You got that, you know, dude, Duke emblem across your chest and says the brotherhood above it. You know, what does that kind of mean when it. When, you know, playing basketball for Duke, all the great players that have played there, including yourself, and will you kind of lean in to the Brotherhood as you get ready for the Final Four? Will you reach out to Coach K? Will you kind of talk to some of the guys that have already been through it? Or can you just pull from your own experiences enough?
John Shire
No, no, I. I lean into all that. And, you know, look, I think when you think about the brotherhood, and obviously Coach K is a huge part of that. I already talked to Coach K first and foremost. You know, I mean, he's had. He's only had 13 attempts at, you know, in a final four or 13 experiences. Besides that, he doesn't know much about being in this environment at all. But for me, I'm lucky, you know, as a coach to still. To still have my coach, you know, so the fact is, we talk all the time, and I lean on him for a lot. But you think about. About, you know, the Grant Hills of the world, the Shane Battiers, and, you know, you know, Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, is a Duke rat. I mean, the brotherhood, the brotherhood in general, to me is the connectivity in the sports world, but especially in basketball, is off the charts. I think the thing that sets us apart, though, it doesn't matter if you're here for one year or two, three or four. The amount of text that I got from foreign players when we went to the Final Four, the text throughout the year of just being so invested in what's happening to me is off the charts. I'm not going to say it's better than anywhere. I can't compare it to anywhere else. This is all I know. But the passion to me is incredible that I feel from our former guys.
Pat McAfee
Seems like two young Duke guys are taking over the basketball coaching ranks. You and J.J. redick, obviously, massive talking points. It's awesome to hear you still talk to Coach K. Because from the way LeBron talks, JJ is young coach K in there as well. So happy to see the Shashevsky pipeline will continue to crush. Last question before we have a heart out. We can't thank you enough for joining us here, Coach. All focus right now on Houston. Will you also pay attention to the other teams? Now, are we watching film or is this everything on one game at a time now as opposed to what it was beginning of the tournament.
John Shire
I'll let our staff take care of that for me. It's 100% Houston, just like it's been every step of the way. AJ to your question, it's been what's next? Finishing what's right in front of us. Us and then going from there.
Pat McAfee
All right, well, Coach, good luck weekend. Thank you enough for joining us, man.
John Shire
Thank you, fellas. Appreciate you guys, you know, the best.
Pat McAfee
Ladies and gentlemen, Coach John Shire. I'm about. You know, I appreciate him coming in and saying, oh, now I've made it. You know, I'm on this show. I do. I do appreciate that because the guy's in the Final Four. He's a young lad. He had to take over for Coach K and Duke, you know, team that in AJ you watch growing up, obviously, Debone was in Illinois, you were in Ohio. There's people in Pennsylvania. The Duke brand was the Duke brand because of their basketball team. And he let. He started rattling off some of the X's. You can start. Continue those names on and on and on. It's like, it is a brand. There is an expectation. So he gets dropped in there and just rolls, you know, like unc. Very different situations. You're right. You know what's going on.
A.J. Hawk
People take it for Grant.
Pat McAfee
Talk about some of the. Go ahead.
A.J. Hawk
No, people take that for granted. It's like taking over for Nick Saban, taking over for Bill Belichick in the NFL. People take it for granted that you can just keep that thing rolling. And you're right. North Carolina is proof.
Pat McAfee
It's.
A.J. Hawk
It's a lot harder than it looks.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you have to do it your own way. Like, inevitably, you're going to have to do it your own way because you're the one that's going to have to do it every single day. And if you don't, you can get left behind, you can get exposed. You can go from being a tier one blue chipper to mid level, just hoping to have a good year. I mean that happened and I think obviously they have great nil. I would assume Duke basketball has great nil. I would assume they have, you know, a leg up on a lot of schools because they are Duke. You know, it is the brotherhood of Duke that he is pitching, which I think is a good idea anytime you get a transition phase. Some people like to forget about the past as opposed to embracing the traditions. So him being like the brotherhood, the brotherhood. This is all of us here at Duke and him being a Duke guy high to begin with. I think it's been done beautifully toshmit legitimately. I think they've done it absolutely perfectly over there.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, without a doubt. And you know, understanding the added pressure of like, hey, I gotta make the most out of this because there's a good chance that a lot of these guys are going to be gone next year.

Sports is what's we see, Pat. We see lights and laser shows and everything going on back there. How's everything in the the O2 arena right now?
Pat McAfee
It's fantastic. At some point I'm gonna have to get up and leave because I'm currently sitting in the audience and I believe they're gonna be opening the doors relatively soon. So if I do that, just know that I'll FaceTime in from backstage. But with all roads have led to the O2, there's been a three week European tour of the WWE here on this glorious road to the WrestleMania. And tonight for the second show in a row, London, we'll cap off everything and it's going to be electrifying tonight, I believe. And I believe there's somebody that you can't see, you know, an invisible person that's going to be here and I believe there's some other magic in store. And I'll be on a microphone alongside Michael Cole. It'll be a dream come true. As you see Darius J. Butler there behind Lordo Stanley cup as he is a Florida Panther fan. A.J. hawk traveled in from Ohio to stand at that particular desk right there. Can't thank both you boys enough. And then on the other side, you get the toxic table at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt, one half of the Hammer Cowboys. AP Tone is there and we have some breaking news.
A.J. Hawk
Oh.
Pat McAfee
Ladies and gentlemen, Wednesday, April 9th will be a big note in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And it is. It's gonna be awesome. The show is coming together perfectly. The conversations that I've been able to have with people who want to not only make the show better, but really want to commit to that evening becoming one of the greatest nights in the history of entertainment. It is sold out in 92 minutes. We all remember that story and it was really cool to experience as a whole. And with the reaction that there was, I thought to myself there has to be more tickets. There has to be more tickets that we can find. And obviously we had held a portion of tickets because of where we're going to set cameras up and for the view of the stage and for the view of everything. You know, can't have people sitting directly behind cameras. Well, today we just got done with a meeting, Myself and the folks here at the WWE that are going to be piecing this entire thing together. And it turns out we opened up some tickets, and I believe with the moving of one thing to the next and moving this over here. Do we need this particular view for one? I don't think so. We could probably open up that section, right? Don't you think? Yeah, we probably could. 1750 tickets will be going on sale on Wednesday at noon. Wow. Okay. Wednesday at noon. We were able to open up 1750 tickets. Now, there was a worry that maybe these wouldn't be able to be in the giveaway zones. There was a worry that maybe they'd be have an obstructed view. There was a worry that maybe these sheets would just have to be covered by some tarps because of the way the presentation of the show was going to go. But instead, instead the wizards here at the WWE were able to cook up some magic, some potion, and we were able to open up 1,750 tickets. They'll go on sale at the same price that the other tickets were on sale for the first time. So nobody's getting a better deal because they bought it late. If you bought it early, obviously you'll be paying the same. You won't be have to pay more than the people that got it later. So Wednesday at noon, one week before Big 9, 1750 tickets will go up for sale. And it's exciting. I'm very, very pumped up about it. As soon as I found out about it, literally an hour before we went live, I was like, got to tell people, got to make this announcement. I want to sell them as soon as possible because obviously the show is next Wednesday already. AJ the next Wednesday and going to give away a bunch of money. Gonna have some spectacular talent in the building, and hopefully we have a Wednesday night that's Talked about forever, A.J. hawk. And I know you'll be a part of the show, but just know that there's a chance 1750 more people could be coming to your party. AJ Hawk.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, I think that's amazing. I'm sure people will jump on that as soon as they go on sale. Wednesday at noon eastern. As. As I was watching actually Debone make this graphic. When I showed up earlier today, it was. It was cool to see how the sausage is made. As they say, it's really cool.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, Debone always does, you know, Debone stuff. Stuff, you know.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Debone trying to figure out what. What matters on the graphic and what doesn't matter on the graphic is always a fun, fun game. It's always a fun game. Yeah, you know, it's like, hey, yeah, when are they on sale, Debone? Big part of what is the show? Big part of the story here. How many of the tickets? Big part of the story here. And Debone gets creative. You know, he's an artist, he does what he's got to do, but in the end, he makes magic. And that's what we're hoping is Wednesday, April 9th. Nothing but magic. Few hours show. Two hours, two and a half hours, maybe three, depending upon how it all rolls. Show will start at 8:00 local. You know, I think we'll be over by 10. There'll be 10 30, maybe 11. There's a chance you go to work the next day. You ginzers, you find users or if you want to take Thursday off, I believe it's the first, first day of the Masters golf tournament down there in Augusta. So, you know, everything's pointing up D. But you're obviously going to be a part of that particular program. Maybe a thousand 750 more people are going to come join the evening.
Darius J. Butler
I cannot wait. I know a few of my friends will definitely already be in the building. Hopefully this opens up some space for more. But it's gonna be. It's gonna be crazy. It's crazy that it's already here. Pretty much just around the corner. And you saying that everything is going perfectly has me feeling great.
Pat McAfee
A little worrisome.
A.J. Hawk
No, no.
Darius J. Butler
Goodbye.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Been talking about. Been talking about this program for a few years, this show that I want to kind of piece together. And a variety show of sorts, you know, there hasn't been one in a long, long time. A variety show. Dean Martin had one way back in the day, I guess there's been a few others. I think award shows were supposed to become the variety shows, but for one reason or another, that happen. So I'm hoping for a variety show that people will hopefully want more of. I think will be a good display of people just coming together to put on a show. Just put on a show, give away some money. We're gonna be Streaming Alive on YouTube X and tick Tock Live. So if you're not one of the 1750 people that are able to get some of the tickets here on Wednesday, they've just been opened up literally an hour ago. We figured out more space to get more people in there. You'll be able to watch a lot long at home. It's going to be a blast. Let's go to the talks table at Boss Connor and at Tai Schmidt. Con man, big story in the sports world this weekend was what I mean.
Boston Connor
I would say the final four, the 41 seeds kind of coming together or rather the, you know, the selection of the final four being kind of finite now we got all one seeds. Duke, Houston, then Auburn and Florida. And I don't know if we have it. I doubt we do. There was the kind of odds of when the team was going to win and who is going to win. Basically all four of the games are blowouts.
A.J. Hawk
Are people pissed? Con man, sorry to cut you off. Are people upset about the all the ones making it?
Boston Connor
I think so because everyone loves a Cinderella. But also I think it's more so like especially in the elite eight. Okay, well at least it's one verse two, one verse three. Like we're going to get good games. None of the games are that good. You know, Houston killed Tennessee yesterday. Michigan State kind of made it close, but not really yesterday as well. Florida and Texas Tech, that was the closest one and Florida had an unbelievable finish and that was great. But the games themselves haven't been that good for the one seed teams that, that kind of stunk. But you know, the, the final what, three games should be incredible even though Duke is clearly the heavy favorite. I don't know if we did talk about it, but O's the mentalist has done it again, folks. On March 20th. 20th and I believe we have the video. But on March 20th he put together basically his final four and also a massive upset from the entire thing. And he revealed it yesterday.
Pat McAfee
I said before we started March 20th when we seals at 115, our bracket buster will be Arkansas beating St. John's a two gets taken, bombed down by a 10. I said Florida will beat Texas Tech, number one. Duke will be Alabama today. What? Watch. Houston will beat Tennessee. Auburn will beat MSU. Four number one seeds make it for the first time since 2008 in 17 years. Mark my word.
Boston Connor
Wow.
Pat McAfee
Second time in tournament history. This was sealed at the start of the tournament.
A.J. Hawk
That's crazy.
Pat McAfee
Every team in the elite A get.
Darius J. Butler
A notary on that same envelope.
Pat McAfee
And the future is here.
Gumpy
Remember this moment.
Ian Rapoport
You guys have questions.
Boston Connor
Well, that's the thing. Like if you're going to do something like, like this and maybe they did do it.
Pat McAfee
They.
Boston Connor
They need to show when he closed it or whatever.
A.J. Hawk
At least a picture from March 20 right. When he did.
Ian Rapoport
But notor, I believe notorized.
Darius J. Butler
This is before the last two games play though, right?
Pat McAfee
Was it really notorized?
Boston Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Oh, okay.
A.J. Hawk
So I mean I wasn't, I wasn't accusing Oz of, of cheap. But if I, the first thing I thought of when I see him do this, like, why doesn't he monetize this in a gambling way? Like wouldn't someone come to him and want to say, hey, give me the. Let's figure this out.
Ty Schmidt
How do you know he didn't?
A.J. Hawk
I know. That's what I'm wondering. Like, are there some. Yeah. I don't know. I would assume he can make tons of money if there's some people that he's not allowed. But he could say, oh, it's not ethical or whatever. But what do you mean? Like that's on.
Ian Rapoport
None of the, it's not illegal. None of the sports books are going to let him gamble.
A.J. Hawk
Not him. But I'm saying people would come to.
Boston Connor
Him because if you were to like in the world thinking of gambling, if you were to do like a parlay of just the elite beat eight matchups.
Ian Rapoport
Oh yeah.
Boston Connor
I mean you could put like a hundred bucks down and probably win like 100 grand.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. Like when he was making that thing, what March 20th. What if one of a, you know, a big time whale that can change lines gets in on that, you know.
Boston Connor
Not that much money because it is one seeds versus two seats.
Ian Rapoport
No, but still, I mean it hasn't happened in 17 years. The odds would still be pretty.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Ian Rapoport
And plus people like we were talking about earlier in the, in the games and people being upset or whatever, like Ken Palm, who is like the analytics just guru of all gurus for college basketball, literally in his ranking, had the, the number one seeds like as the four of the top 10 teams I believe in the last 20 years or whatever, or all time maybe as four of the best teams of all time. So it's not surprising that they made it here. It's also not surprising that the games haven't been that close because like I said, based off of the analytics, these are four of the best teams that have ever played basketball in college of all time.
A.J. Hawk
But this is what people are saying.
Ian Rapoport
Now, we got them together. It's a good thing. I don't about this.
A.J. Hawk
It is a good thing. But isn't the argument, or at least like the old, the old man stand on my lawn argument that hey, we're not going to see any Cinderella stories anymore.
Ty Schmidt
Yes.
A.J. Hawk
Only these big schools are going to get.
Ty Schmidt
But a lot of times when that happens, like the Cinderella story after the elite or whatever, like those teams get their asses kicked in the Final Four because you're playing against like the two favorites to, you know, win the national championship. So hopefully we will get, you know, some more competitive games. Like Connor said, like all these games this past weekend with the exception of Texas Tech and Florida kind of stunk. So hopefully these Final four games are a little bit closer. But I mean the Cinderellas are fun early. But you know, like you I don't really care about seeing like a 13 seed playing Duke and getting beat by 40. Final four.
Boston Connor
Yeah, yeah. I think the old man argument now is like hey, they're paying in for their, you know, championships. Like the nil thing is now what the old.
A.J. Hawk
Still got to make the plays though.
Boston Connor
Exactly.
A.J. Hawk
That's the thing. You still got to make the shots.
Boston Connor
Like I saw some people were mad about Auburn's starting five because they're all, they're all old as old as hell, you know. And I saw people upset about that. And then I saw another thing. I think it was earlier, I think it was before the weekend started on Thursday where it kind of showed, you know, where all of the team's players started in college and then where they are now. Like the FAU team that was kind of one of the last Cinderellas to go all the way to the Final Four. They were like a nine seed. Three of their five starters were on different teams that were then in the sweet 16.
A.J. Hawk
You know.
Boston Connor
So it's, it's one of those things like I believe Florida, one of their guards is from F F A U from their Cinderella run. So I think like yeah, Iona like the old man yelling at the, you know, no cinder Cinderella's. It's turned into hired mer.
A.J. Hawk
Okay. That's just hired mercenaries to go get one year deals and go play for school.
Boston Connor
They're playing for money and they got no loyalty because they're leaving their school.
A.J. Hawk
Hey, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Hey.
A.J. Hawk
We'll give you 1.8. Come over here and we. And you're going to a great team with a great opportunity. How can you blame a player it's.
Boston Connor
Better for your life like you. If you think that the kid who is now playing in the Final Four again for Florida, the point guard would have been, you know, just the same as, you know, how he would have been if he stayed at fau. Like he's trying to make his Life better not. Not just, you know, be a guy that was on a Cinderella team. It's like, hey, now I'm playing on one of the top eight teams in the history of college basketball. Like that that matters for the kids future, let alone, you know, his immediate happiness, winning and playing good basketball.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
And they try to about like student athlete. Like he's still going to graduate from Florida with a degree. So it's like, you know, I mean if you're, if you can get a bag and then also get a degree with it, like there, there really is no, you know, there's no reason to get pissed off about it.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, well, I mean, and Walter Clayton, who Florida's point guard or whatever, who came over from Iona, like the exposure that he's getting because of this and the two threes that he hit at the end of this game and then the three that he hit at the end of the Sweet 16 game, like his drafts, he's making money every, every single one of these shots because down, down the stretch he has just been ice cold and hasn't missed. Like him making all these shots. He's not making these at Iona like he is making them at Iona, but it's not seen as much and his draft stock is just skyrock.
Darius J. Butler
Comparing him to Steph.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Saw J. Wil.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Comparing to Steph Basy, how obviously Steph will be the peak and the, you know, all time great at what he does. But you know, those type of shots, like kind of looks like Steph. Remember Steph got introduced to kind of the world. Marcus March Madness Davidson, mid major. So yeah, it is. It kind of sucks that you won't have those stories and you know, but it is just the nature of the business. Even in on the women's side, you know, Van Lift, she's on her third team in the. That, you know, third team. She's been to at least the elite eight. So you'll see this more and more on both sides of the college landscape when it comes to basketball. You know, fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, I think.
Ty Schmidt
I think we'll still get them here and there too, but we won't ever get like another Bunch Butler where it's like you have a mid major that like goes to two final fours in a row. Like there are still teams that can go deep, but then after they have a deep run in the tournament, all those guys are going to get plucked by high majors and, and go elsewhere. So like, I think there's still a chance that we're going to get a couple of these Cinderellas like we saw it happen this year with with Drake. You know, like they, they were an 11 seed, they won in the first round, but then immediately their coach leaves and all their players leave like that. That's what's going to happen.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
I believe Pat may be joined us from the bows of the OT arena. Here he is. What, what's up Pat?
Pat McAfee
How you doing? It is great to be back with you here. I literally came through a secret door to get back here where I'm at. It's a great room, it's very peaceful. But to back to your point, I don't know if you guys have these stats. Embo sent these over. Should the starting lineups remain the same? Is this a stat you guys have already talked about? No. Okay. Should the starting lineups remain the same, eight of 10 starters in Florida. Auburn will have started their careers at different, different schools. The only ones that didn't are Alex Condon at Florida and Dylan Cardwell at Auburn. Auburn starts five seniors. Their seniors have played 677 minutes in the NCAA tournament, most by any team ever entering the Final Four. So we still have some seniors. But you're right, if you're good at all or showcase any talent at any school, there's a chance you're going to get the hell out of there. I mean that is just the real world nowadays. And hopefully, you know, the schools like West Virginia are the ones doing the plucking. But it feels like we're potentially a part of the problem. It was like we're going to be the ones getting plucked, you know, after Dev's leaves, after not even making the nit. And you talked about McCollum and all his guys leaving. It's like, it's a fascinating, it's a very fascinating state for college basketball because I don't know why Cinderella's wouldn't exist exist. I just don't think Cinderellas would exist for multiple years. You know, like if a Cinderella shows up that shoe that she was wearing until midnight, that shit's getting stolen by another school immediately. Yeah, I mean that's just like, oh yeah, you had a good little audition there in March. Now guess what you're doing. You're coming to our school. That's kind of how I see it going. But maybe not. Maybe all the good talent's gonna end up at a high end high school anyways.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah, because with those cinder Cinderella, at least from what I can remember watching the game, it's like those guys typically they'll go on a run when like their best players are like maybe juniors or sophomores, like the big, like the Dukes of the World, these big time. These guys come in the Derrick Queens, they come in, hit the ground running. Like these Cinderella teams, these smaller schools, mid majors, it usually takes their guys a little bit longer to develop. And then as soon, like you said, as soon as they pop onto the national scene, they're gone. For football, even football, you know, you have a, I have a good year at Yukon, you know, took my sophomore year. I'm probably going to um, like that. So the Cinderella, those type of stories, that's kind of why I see it going away and fading away in March Madness when we all become college football, basketball fans. It kind of sucks that those stories probably will be going away. But yeah, this money plucking away, you can't, you can't blame the kids for going and chasing greener pastures. But that Jeff Goodman tweet that popped up there, we were talking, that was insane. Like that number of players enter the portal in the LA, what do you.
Pat McAfee
Say today, 1700 or whatever it was.
Darius J. Butler
1359, D1 men's basketball players entered a portal. Since it opens Monday, there's only what.
A.J. Hawk
Max, 15 players, usually 12 on a team.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Wow. Yeah. And that happened in football, Remember that happened in football A little bit at the beginning. People are like, hey, you're asking the portal, you're asking to stay in the portal. You know, that is, not everybody has, has opportunity. But you talk about popping off on the national scene a little bit and then hitting this portal and then hopefully getting somewhere. That's why teams aren't doing spring games anymore.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, teams are scared to do spring games. They're scared to do spring games because if anybody does great in a spring game, they have to be a second string or third stringer. They're gone by the time fall comes around. I mean, it's over. Like, I obviously have a chance to chat with more coaches now that we've been in the college football world here for the last few years. And it's like Rich Rodriguez is trying to figure out what the hell to do. Matt Rules trying to figure out what to do. All these schools are like, why in the would we have a spring game where we're declaring a first string, second string, third string, fourth string? So now our third stringer knows he's not a starter right now, but he might be a starter in the fall, but right now he isn't. So he might be like, well, I'm not even going to play here. I'll go somewhere else. And then if you do well in the spring game, it's like every other place is like, who's that guy? Who's that? It's. It is, I think spring game dead and gone.
A.J. Hawk
Everyone's doing like spring celebration or something. They're trying to figure out what exactly they're doing, but they're not. They're not going to be playing football against each other.
Darius J. Butler
It sounds like Coach prime tried.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, they wanted to.
Darius J. Butler
Sorry, go ahead, go ahead.
Pat McAfee
No dbuts. What you were saying there is 100 accurate. Coach prime wants joint practices. But if those are going to be on tv. And I guess Coach prime has a lot of confidence in his guys not leaving. And congrats to him getting that new extension. $54 million. I mean, that is because, remember, just a few years ago, Colorado didn't even know if they were going to be able to pay his original contract. They said we don't have enough money to pay his current 30 million dollar contract. We assume he'll be able to make that happen. Which he did. He absolutely did. And created a brand and a name. But it's like anything you're doing on TV with any of these guys, there's a chance that you're just showcasing them to somebody else who might have more money. And it's like, how much of that game do you want to dance with? How much of that? And that's why you're seeing all these teams, teams, they're doing showcases for the fans because they want the fans to be around. And, you know, we'll do some gimmick, but like playing football, declaring a first stringer, second stringer and a third stringer, it's like, no way, no way. And now the transfer portal window in basketball has to change. That's stupid. Yeah. And it's right in the middle of the tournament. I don't know how that even becomes a decision, AJ I don't even know how that's made that way, you know, because we experience in the fall with a college football playoff that there was a transfer window and guys are getting in it. But then we're like, we'll just move it till after. They're like spring semester, they have to enroll. Yada, yada, yada. It's like, well, how come football's spring window is in April? Something late mid April, late April. And your guys, this has to be in March. That's. Aren't they both enrolling for the same school? That feels stupid. By itself.
A.J. Hawk
Aj yeah, they. Are they trying to say we have to make it now to. To protect or give guys that aren't in the NCAA tournament or aren't making deep runs in the tournament a. A chance to get in the portal and get to another team. Like, what's the reason?
Pat McAfee
I have no idea. I have no idea. There's dumb decisions made. Speaking of decisions being being made, what was rap being so auspicious about? Whenever he was talking about those votes, what was he like? Do you hear him?
A.J. Hawk
How do you. What do you mean exactly?
Pat McAfee
I don't know if I said the word right there. Is that a word? Auspicious? Yeah. Yep.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
I think what it means is, like, he was like, some of these votes. Maybe tomorrow, maybe.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
What is the day, Minnesota?
Ian Rapoport
I think he just didn't know.
A.J. Hawk
Really?
Pat McAfee
You think he didn't know? Okay. I didn't know if all these were actually getting voted on or if they're just being discussed.
Boston Connor
Well, wasn't it last year where it was kind of up in the air when they were voting on some stuff? Like sometimes if. If it was like, hey, we're close on a certain thing and we might have a certain amount of votes, they're like, why don't we just completely vote for this tomorrow to try and kind of swing, like the Frank Underwood type.
A.J. Hawk
Thing when they make the votes.
Boston Connor
Yeah, that's what I thought, if I remembered it correctly, that when we were down there, there was kind of some sort of, like, toss up of when the actual votes were.
Ian Rapoport
Goodell has. I can't remember what it was they voted on last year. Might have been the kickoff rule or whatever, but they had the meeting and they could tell, like, maybe they were two or three votes short course. And then, you know, didn't have the votes. Goodell had to go that night, have some cocktails, whip up a few more so that he knows. He knows.
Pat McAfee
Lobbying.
Ian Rapoport
Yes. Yes.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Yeah, brother. There's real lobbying that. Like the. Remember, this new dynamic kickoff that we currently have is strictly. Because I don't know if it was Roger Goodell, but somebody in the NFL was like, hey, you're gonna have no more kickoff anymore, so figure the hell out. Like, literally, that was, like, the conversation around it all. And then they get to this new dynamic kickoff, and some teams are like, we're not doing this two lines of scrimmage thing, yada, yada, yada, we're not doing that. They're like, well, it's either that or it's nothing at all. And Then they're like talking at night, shaking hands, earning up votes. You know, Riz. Coach Riz had to go earn votes for this kickoff. Whenever he was the. Now he's with the Broncos. He was that at the time with the Saints. It's like there's a lot of working going on down at these league meetings. And it's a lot of. It's like, hey, I'm better for the game. I'm saving the game. This is better for the game. But that tush push thing, it feels like it's over. Yeah, it does. And maybe they'll delay till May to do that, but it feels like, I don't know, more people coming out against this.
A.J. Hawk
I think the injury. I think they don't really have any. Any data to back it up or whatever. But saying the potential injury risk from this play. But. So, but defenders, correct me, if I'm a linebacker, I can push my D lineman right on this play.
Pat McAfee
I don't know. Yeah. Is it just a special teams play you're not allowed to. I don't know. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
That's what I'm more wondering, like, if I should. If I'm a defender, I should be able to push my D line. If you can push your quarterback, obviously, in this play, I understand that the extra point and field goal is different, but you're right, this feels like it is going to get taken away. I don't. I don't think it should. I don't know. I mean, just figure it out. Find a way to stop it. Figure a way out, run it on.
Boston Connor
Offense, change it just to one guy being able to push. Like, I know, because that's what some of the teams like, I know that's what the packers did with Jordan Love. That's what, you know, Josh Allen and the Bills do. Like, they could easily keep it around. Or if they just say, you know, you have to have some sort of, I don't know, like a declaration that you can't run them or you can't throw the ball. Because that's another thing with the tush push is like, hey, they might. They might fake push. They might throw. Like if it's something like that, I don't know. But I would rather see it stay in the game than just completely ban it.
Darius J. Butler
It's innovation. Can't punch innovation.
Pat McAfee
I was talking to a. There's a lot of Eagles fans that work for the wwe. So this morning when I get to the arena here and I'm sitting down, all of them just right on over NFL's trying to screw Philadelphia Eagles. And I said, what's that? You guys are super bowl champs. What do you mean? Yeah, Ban and Tushbush. Because we're better than everybody? Is that what we're banning Tush. I thought football was supposed to be tough. I thought you guys are supposed to be tough. That's how the. These Eagles fans, literally, they have a point. Yeah. This is just in the wrestling world. I. I assume in the rest of the world as well. Eagles fans are feeling the same way. So. So we're tougher than you, and you guys want to stop that. Okay. Okay. And then, you know, the. Your thought about the. The thought of potential injury. That's a hilarious argument. Yeah. But when you watch it, you can see their heads are down.
A.J. Hawk
We could have a neck injury. Injury. Yeah. Why don't you watch any play that ever happens ever in the NFL and there's potential injury risk everywhere you look? It doesn't matter.
Pat McAfee
I think another big topic of conversation here is they're paying Jalen hurts 50 million a year. 51. I think Jalen Hurts could easily be a quarterback that says, I'm not doing this. Yeah, no way. Like, there's a lot of very rich quarterbacks that would never do this, never allow this to happen, because, I mean, they're. They're potentially setting themselves up to literally get anti. Anti. Like, that is the chance, like, quarterback snakes are always going to be tough on the quarterback, but let alone whenever there's 600 pounds of pressure being pushed off your ass cheeks while everybody else is doing the opposite, like, Jalen Hurts saying, I'm cool with it. I'm cool with it. Now, granted, their offensive line also saying they're cool with it is. Is a whole thing, but, like, I think that's something that not every quarterback is willing to be cool with either, you know?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Not. You know, not every quarterback is squatting 900 pounds. And when Jalen Hurst returns tired, he'll probably have 90 rushing touchdowns to go on his resume. And obviously, it helps the team win, too. Obviously. Jalen, how do I stop it?
A.J. Hawk
D. But for real, how do I stop it?
Darius J. Butler
We've seen enough to. You can't. It's one of those things you just can't stop with the Eagles. And that's their argument. Like, okay, we're. Everybody has the same rules. Like, Jalen Hurts isn't the only big, strong quarterback in the league. This isn't the only big, physical offensive line in the league. Everyone has the same rules. The Buffalo Bill, the Bills, they were Great at it with Josh Allen for most of the season, I think the Chiefs were probably the only team that consistently.
Pat McAfee
How did the Bills do it? How did the. How did the Bills do it? Because there was people calling like just regular quarterback sneaks, tush pushes.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they do.
Pat McAfee
And I think there was people. I think there was people confused about which Bush was being pushed. Like I think people thought like offensive lineman's pushes, getting pushed by the quarterback is a push push. It's like. No, the push that's being pushed that's currently being talked about is the quarterbacks push getting pushed by a couple different hands of guys that have big pushes. So then it's a big old push on one push that's going into other pushes. I think that is something that also is kind of hard to like. A regular quarterback sneak is not touch push.
A.J. Hawk
No.
Pat McAfee
You know they did it. Yeah, they did it with one guy touched and they.
Darius J. Butler
And they usually try to find like one of the guards. They typically go over the guards like her hurts can go over a guard but a lot of time he was going right over that center. I feel like Josh Allen goes over a guard more and like you can see right here, it's usually one guy pushing him. But that's a, that's a big strong some at quarterback. I think it definitely starts there. To your point, some quarterbacks. Mahomes hasn't done a quarterback sneak in what like two, three years now. So a certain quarterback who just isn't going to do or aren't going to do it at all. Tom Brady, he was the best quarterback sneaker of his generation of multiple generations that he played. So he was innovative and found a way to just once he saw the gap and got up, he can do it for two, three yards at times. So it's going to be interesting to see how this really unfolds. But I think the Eagles fans and Eagles team more importantly has an argument where it shouldn't be banned.
Boston Connor
Well, Brady too like the thing, the reason Brady was so good at it was that they were under center every. Every single play. Like the Eagles and you know the Bills, they're not under center every single play. So there isn't that like element of surprise like on a, on a fourth and one. I don't think it was guaranteed that Brady was going to do a QB sneak, but if it was there, he would.
A.J. Hawk
You leave the AAP open.
Boston Connor
I'm like, I'm in there with the Eagles. It's a guarantee on 4th and 1 that they're doing this, you know, And I think that's why Brady was so good at it. And when it comes to just like stopping it and general, the only guy that's consistently been able to do it is Vita Vea. And so you would wonder if like that £464 guy from Florida, like legitimately becomes a, you know, higher pick because of the fact that so many teams are doing tush pushes now that a guy like that will be able to stop it.
Darius J. Butler
That'd be crazy.
Pat McAfee
Especially if this ends up surviving this rule change thing here. More people are going to want to be able to figure out how to do it. Like if this survives this owner's meeting and it survives may and it's in this in for next year, it teams will do just like you said with the Chiefs. They had a tight end and come in and take it, right?
Boston Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Take the snap instead. I think it was Noah Gray.
Boston Connor
The packers had.
Ty Schmidt
Packers had Tucker Craft do it.
Boston Connor
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. It's like instead of your quarterback getting in the middle of the 600 pound kind of score from maybe have somebody else do it. It's like I wonder how many people are in the. I wonder how many people are in the room talking about that. Okay, so we want deep tackles to end up taking snaps and then they're getting two people on their.
A.J. Hawk
Like give it to Vita.
Pat McAfee
I mean that, that's probably the next iteration of this thing, if I had to guess.
A.J. Hawk
Has to be.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
And I mean think about giving. Taking a snap in Vita Vea. What if he's. You're pushing that dude? Yeah, he's downhill.
Gumpy
Exactly.
A.J. Hawk
I don't know how you stop it defensively.
Pat McAfee
You.
A.J. Hawk
When guys leave their feet like the second level and you jump over top. Like that's useless at the time. It just when they. If they. If you don't have three guys in the center in angle and get a complete jump on the snap and like chop these guys down before they even get underneath you. Like the offensive line, you have no chance. Like it's just not going to happen.
Boston Connor
And that's what the commanders tried to do. And then basically the refs had to come out because what was it, four?
A.J. Hawk
You see guys going sideways. The Chiefs there had a guy lined.
Ian Rapoport
Up, but that's what Chris Jones got hurt.
Boston Connor
Yeah. That's when Chris Jones got hurt.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. Bingo. That's. I mean, good luck.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I'm. I'm happy. I don't play defense, you know, just in general. But Sirianni needs to come out and run that play. 50 straight times. Yeah. In a game. And especially if he gets his thing passed, I don't know how his offensive line will be able to stand up afterwards. Yeah, but if they, if they run on this first down, second down, third down, all the way down the field and score a touchdown, I think then a message will be sent that we're better than you are. Congrats to the Bills and Christian Benford on a four year, $76 million. Did we know these types of deals are still coming at this stage of the offseason? Nope.
Darius J. Butler
No, did not.
Pat McAfee
Legitimately. Bean is out there just cooking over there. You know, we talked to, we talked to Ted Caris the other day and he was like, the salary cap, some teams don't have it. I don't know how that goes, but it's like the Buffalo Bills had to move on from their previous team of all the OGs and all the people because they couldn't pay everybody because they just paid Josh Allen. They repaid Josh and then they're still paying everybody over there. Brandon Beans obviously in it to win it. And congratulations to Christian Benford. I don't think I know much about him. Debut four years, 76 million. How you doing? Keep it moving.
Darius J. Butler
Binford is an absolute dog. I think he'd be a little more mainstream if he had a different number. It throws people off out there at corner for sure. I'm sure some type of sentimental meaning probably behind that number. But he, he's a, he's a phenomenal player. Fantastic player. Got banged up last year, had a concussion and then came back, I think too early. I don't think he should have been out there and then got banged up again. So he didn't end his year. Great. But he's been a great pickup for them. This is a great, great deal, I think, for Buffalo as well. Start as far as value, that's coming in at under $20 million. When you saw what the cornerback market did this all season for them to lock him up. And I think maybe this could have something to do with the contract talks at least. Reportedly falling through with James Cook. You know, James Cook obviously wants his money. We saw him commenting on the Saquon deal. And then I think Brad, Brandon Bean talked about, hey, we had some extension talks, was kind of stopped, so it'll be interesting to see. Maybe he's the odd man left out. But this is a great value, I think, for both sides for Benford and the Buffalo Bills locking up their young star cornerback for the next four years.
Pat McAfee
How about Brandon Bean going all in, seemingly. That's got to be scary for the AFC east con man.
Boston Connor
Yeah, I don't know about that. They definitely are watching their wagons, but I don't know if it's scary. The salary cap thing that, you know, doesn't make any sense and we talked about a little before the show with, you know, Lamar Jackson, is when you pay a quarterback more money, you know, today you save more money tomorrow. Like, that is why I assume the cap hits. You know, they're able to do it because they gave Josh Allen $330 million. But also, I feel like there has been a lot of, you know, games being reported when it comes to these numbers. Like, we, we talked about, you know, how when Mahomes got his deal it was, you know, 10 years, 500 million, and then we kind of find out it was really period, period, period. That was the reporting, matter of fact. And then.
Pat McAfee
And then journalism, journalism.
Boston Connor
Yeah, it was really, you know, 10 years or eight years, you know, 400 million. With all these crazy numbers then even now with the guarantees we see like. Well, the guarantees include injury guarantees, which aren't real guarantees. They are, you know, very specific things that add to the numbers. So absolutely, it's great. You know, it being reported as 76 million, but who knows what that is? Because even with the Stefon Diggs thing, the Stefon Diggs was contract was reported as, you know, three years, 69 million with, you know, 27. Yeah, 26 million guaranteed. And then we come to find out yesterday, it's really like a one year, $16 million guaranteed deal. So as much money is being thrown out and it is great that, you know, everyone is making so much money. The salary cap thing will just never make sense, no matter what, for the rest of time. But it does feel like the Josh quarterbacks getting paid, you know, immediately just helps the teams, you know, all around. Like, even with the Lamar extension talks like, I assume Ronnie Stanley, their left tackle going back to Baltimore, kind of did have or will have something to do with the fact that Lamar is going to sign, you know, a massive extension that inevitably is going to help the Ravens, you know, pay a bunch of guys over the next few years.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, they'll be able to kick can down the road. That's the fun Diggs update is fascinating because the teams are okay with the massive number being, you know, marketed. Yeah, yeah, we're paying guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we're paying guys. And at the end of the day, we're paying 10 million, doll than that actually, in real life, it's like, league looks good. Player is the only one that seemingly doesn't benefit from that. So I think insiders are okay getting that information and then reporting it. And also, where's the transparency come from? Who knows? Let's talk about being transparent. Did you see what o did on March 20th?
A.J. Hawk
Oh, while you were doing the walk? We ran the thing and started talking about it a little bit.
Pat McAfee
Wow.
Ian Rapoport
Insane.
A.J. Hawk
Damon.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I don't know how many. If you.
A.J. Hawk
How.
Pat McAfee
Go ahead.
A.J. Hawk
No, like, how, like, how what. What is. What is happening? He continues to predict the future over and over again.
Pat McAfee
I don't know. I, I, I don't think.
Gumpy
I think he's a demon.
Pat McAfee
He popped up out of nowhere, too. Did he pop up out of nowhere, too?
A.J. Hawk
Kind of Shefty pulled him out of nowhere. Remember, she's like his manager that took him around.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ian Rapoport
From the depths of hell is where he pulled him out of.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah. Well, potentially. That's what I'm saying here. So, like, like, this guy just pops up out of nowhere in our world, and then he just starts predicting everything. I think I'm frozen. I don't know if I'm still here. You're good. You're good. Am I still here?
Boston Connor
Yeah, you're good.
Pat McAfee
Anyways, this dude pops up, pops up out of nowhere, and this just starts doing this. Wow. I don't know. None of it makes sense to me. Oz is a demon. I genuinely believe O's is an actual demon. Happy you guys talked about that. Okay, let's stay in the, in the basketball world, but go to the professional one. How about the Detroit Pistons? Just trying to make the malice in a palace every single night. What's going on, Foxy? That's just beef stew. Football, Pat. When. Whenever the Detroit Pistons are good, they have a guy that all he does is he grabs rebounds and he fights people. If you go back to the bad boys, Bill Lambert. If you go Back to the 04 Pistons, Ben Wallace. And now we have beef stew. And he will fight anyone. If you guys remember his marquee fight, he chased down LeBron James and even tried to fight him. I think he's the only person, NBA history, to do that. That's just beef stew football. Do we have the video? The video.
A.J. Hawk
It was a real fight. I was impressed. It was kind. It was. It was a real legit situation.
Darius J. Butler
That's. I don't want to be called.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, me too.
Darius J. Butler
I compare Beef stew to Ben Wallace.
Pat McAfee
I agree. I agree.
Darius J. Butler
I know what you're saying defensive player of the year. This is all. I mean, okay.
Pat McAfee
Divincenzo getting a little soft.
Boston Connor
Oh, yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Divincenzo's adult cameraman getting crushed.
Boston Connor
Push.
A.J. Hawk
What do you do if you have, I mean, front row right there and you're getting stomped?
Ian Rapoport
Cover.
Ty Schmidt
What are you going to do?
Boston Connor
You punch yourself?
Pat McAfee
I think you're doing this one here. I think you're doing this one. The. The. The. The foot hand.
A.J. Hawk
Like you're doing jiu jitsu and you're on your back. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Or like. Yeah, you are in full guard. Just like what you do whenever, you know a plane is about to crash. You know, you just. You put your legs out like this.
Ty Schmidt
Knees up against feet.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah. And then you stop it all. You know, you stop it all by doing that. Yeah. Real scrap. Real surprise. It's the Pistons. Yeah, Real surprise. I love it. I think it's. Go ahead. Guess who we're coming for in the playoffs right now. Right now. It's Pistons. Pacers, baby. And I know the Pacers don't got a dog. Like, beefs do that. Guarantee it.
Darius J. Butler
They do.
A.J. Hawk
Okay, Flash.
Ian Rapoport
Did you say we, Diva?
Darius J. Butler
I ad it slipped. I'm in Indy right now.
Ian Rapoport
D has been outed as a cash as well.
Darius J. Butler
I would never drop the heat, all right? Never. Even when the show boy called me a casual. Because I asked Foxy last night on X, like, what else does beef stew do besides beef? And people sent me a few highlights and told me he's the a top 10 rim protector. Hey, look, I love physical guys who set the tone, but literally every time I see 28 since chasing down LeBron, I miss seeing him do the same thing. We all love dog.
Boston Connor
Maybe.
Darius J. Butler
Maybe get with Dan Campbell and see if he can help the Lions off the edge or tight end. Yeah, he's a dog, too.
A.J. Hawk
Me too.
Pat McAfee
And if his only job is to fight people, I'm cool with it, too. You know, I'm cool with that. I like that type of mentality in it all. What else is going around the NBA?
Boston Connor
The biggest thing was that the Memphis Grizzlies were the number four overall team in the west, and they fired their coach a couple weeks before the playoffs started. Like, made no sense. There were some reports, and I don't know if they were like, Sean's reports or just Internet reports, but that, you know, the offensive system Jaw didn't like. But that doesn't really make any sense because he's not like a new head coach there. He's been there for a little while. So that kind of blew the west wide open as far as the middle of the pack goes. So who knows what happens with the Grizzlies. One of their players actually got asked about and he said he thought that it was an NBA Sentel report, not a real report, but no, he got fired. And then in the east and the west, it's still kind of Cavs and OKC running, running the show.
Darius J. Butler
Race the rudders, race the sails. Race the sails.

And Ty, in baseball, the only thing that happened is that you Yankees are cheaters. Is that what everybody talks about? What are some other story lines other than the Yankees are cheating with their what? With their wood.
Ty Schmidt
So, yeah, I mean, cheating, you could say you could just outsmart in the competition would also be one way to say it. The Dodgers are five and, oh, they continue to kind of just beat the piss out of everybody. And the Padres, the dads, are also undefeated. They swept the Braves. Braves are supposed to be very good this year.
A.J. Hawk
Reds are good again.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, sure, sure.
Pat McAfee
Had a good opening day parade. Yeah, had a good opening day parade.
Boston Connor
Teddy.
Ty Schmidt
Teddy Karras talked about how great it was. And then unfortunately for you guys, the. The Pirates.
Ian Rapoport
Easy, easy, how you phrase it.
Ty Schmidt
No, I mean, I don't know if you want to call it bad luck, bad bullpen, which we know they have. They were walked off, what, two out of three. Three out of three. Which is like the first time it's happened since. Yeah, 1924. And surprise, that was the 1924 Pirates. That happened as well. So.
Ian Rapoport
Team won a World Series, though.
A.J. Hawk
So they did.
Ty Schmidt
And it's funny, four teams, they're asking guys Guys in the locker room like, hey, how do you respond to this? Obviously it's a, you know, it's a 162 game season, so no one's going crazy after losing three games. But one of their pitchers basically said like, you know, how do you respond to something like this happen? Three heartbreaking losses to start the season. He was, he basically was just like, fuck it, it's a long season. Just move past it. We'll, we'll figure it out eventually.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, hopefully, you know, maybe that's a sign they should sell. Could be, you know, maybe it's the baseball God saying, hey, excuse me, you need a little bit something different going on. You're like walked off every game thus far. And obviously Paul Skeens is the future of baseball. Happy that the Buckers are back in record breaking conversations. Even if it's not great. Let's go to hockey now. OV scoring, huh? We're five goals away. Nicky skates. This guy's going to get it.
Ian Rapoport
Five goals away, this one. Not his prettiest down in big to Buffalo, but he gets a tip in front. Not really what he's known for. He's known for setting up in his office up top on a power play and sniping goals. But he can do it down front. Get a little dirty greasy goal. But he's getting it done any way he can. And it sure feels like he's going to get this done before the end of the season. Was that, was that OV bands A Make Her Dance video Real? Anyone else?
Pat McAfee
Yes.
Boston Connor
Oh yeah, that's right.
Ian Rapoport
Oh yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Loved it.
Ian Rapoport
That's awesome.
Pat McAfee
Once again, once again, that's George Foster. Worthy of a follow George Foster on X. He is former teammate of mine, longtime NFL offensive lineman, phenomenal Twitter user, phenomenal X user. And to be clear, when I saw this video, I. I did not know enough about OB's game. I had no idea that we were banz or Maker dance. Every game. Seemingly they had him in different eras, different uniforms, different buildings. I think he's just trying to make them dance out there, there. And I'll tell you what, five goals to go. This record's been intact since 1999. I look this up, obviously almost 30 years. Nobody thought it was going to get done. And the fact that OB was hurt this year and still has the chance to catch this five goals, nine games. Very easy stuff for Ovechkin. Even though it sounds incredibly difficult, especially with the way this year's been going for the Caps. Caps still leading the East.
Ian Rapoport
Nick Yeah, they are record wise, the best team, sorry, second best team currently in the league, but definitely leading the east with 103 points.
Pat McAfee
Damn good year to be a Caps fan. Congrats to them. And then Chad Hanks, I just, I'm just seeing this. He's got a new song.
Boston Connor
Yeah, I don't know if you call it a new song, you call it a new anthem perhaps, because in about a week's time, the president might change the entire country because of this on him. And actually Tom makes an appearance. It's Shett kind of dropped dressing up as a few of Tom's roles. And let me just tell you, look, it's. I'm not joking. It's catchy tune. It is actually a good song. Yeah, this is not. This is not a joke. This is a real song. This isn't like the. Bring the boom. We bring the boom to you.
Pat McAfee
That's very real.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah.
Boston Connor
Bring the boom to you is only like, you know, a minute and a half a minute, minutes. And. And this is Chad Hanks legitimately starting a music career that has kind of like liangelo ball situation.
A.J. Hawk
He's a real tweaker. Have you seen him? He's in that, that running point, the show. He's legit.
Ian Rapoport
Like the judge.
A.J. Hawk
He's a very big role. I don't know if any of you have seen that, that running point with Kate Hudson. It's good. Like Chet Hanks is a big part of that show.
Boston Connor
Yeah, he's legit.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Yeah. People will say, you know, Chet Hanks is a Nepo baby. And obviously when you grow up in the industry, you're going to be good at it. Who cares? Yeah, who cares? There's nothing Chad can do about it. Why? All he could do is do his thing. The fact that he. Yeah, him. Him putting out a song, that is a banger by what you guys are saying. Absolutely hysterical. And then obviously, big news around the sports world. Four number ones are the final four in this year's March Madness college basketball tournament. And the SEC will have a national champion contender. Florida takes on Auburn. Duke taking on Houston. Duke really the only team out of the ACC which is historically a great basketball team or basketball conference. Who cares if they end up winning the Natty and the ACC wins a national championship, That'll be the only thing that is talked about. This Florida team has had a couple of close dances, favored by two and a half against a very good Auburn squad. And then Kelvin Sampson leading that Houston team team, which is a grind and pond style. Basketball team against Duke should be an electrifying Final Four on Saturday. Let's go to Bubble Gumpino in the back. Gumpy. Good money on Duke. Is that where you're residing or who are you betting on? Gump?
Ian Rapoport
I'm gonna take whoever wins Florida and Auburn. I like both of them. Houston will be able to match the physicality of Duke, but I don't think they'll be able to beat Duke like Duke bullied. Duke's been bullying everybody. Houston had some man meat down low. They can match that. I just don't know if they can beat Duke. I think whoever comes out of Auburn in Florida has a good chance of being beating Duke in the final.
Pat McAfee
What did you learn from watching that? Tennessee first half with Houston looked like.
Ian Rapoport
They were very tired. Every three pointer hit the front of the rim. That was atrocious.
Darius J. Butler
15 points.
Ian Rapoport
Well, especially after we were there Friday night. That was the best they looked all year against Kentucky on Friday night. And then you can say the same about Alabama. The best they looked all year was against byu. They go and play Duke and they can't hit a damn thing. Duke is so good defensively and they will bully teams.
Pat McAfee
Lucas Oil Stadium was a good setup. Yeah, look like it. It was. It was a good. Had a good view of everything. Had good games, obviously. I mean, a couple of them were blowouts, but it.
Gumpy
It was.
Pat McAfee
It was a good. I thought it was a good host. I. I legitimately thought. And now all eyes are on San Antonio. Where are they at down there? They're in that Elmo Dome.
A.J. Hawk
That's a wonderful. Yeah, it's gigantic. Like, I think as shooters, and we know college guys, they can shoot lights out, but they can't shoot like NBA dudes. Like, if you get in one of those big venues, DBA can speak more than any of us. DBut's a legit basketball player. Like, isn't it weird sometimes shooting in those huge venues? When you go from an are an arena based basically to the stadium, like Alamo Dome. I played a bowl game there. Like, it's huge.
Darius J. Butler
I actually went there for one of the UConn National Championship runs for the women's side, the court's got to look so small. It changed. The depth perception changed. But once they get out there and they practice, they have their shooter rounds. You know, these are some of the best shooters obviously in the world in the country. So they definitely figure it out. I lost a lot of interest in March Madness after my Huskies got bumped. But this will be great for these Come on, dude. I was watching your golf this weekend. All right men. Wool le got his first win Houston in that leaderboard on Sunday.
Ian Rapoport
Yep.
Darius J. Butler
Roars Scotty. What was that? Woodland.
Ty Schmidt
He.
Darius J. Butler
He made a run. So it was some great, great golf this weekend leading into the Masters. But I'll definitely be locked in in this final four run. I'm with a gumpster. I think the winner ultimately comes out of the sec.
Pat McAfee
Winning it would obviously be great for Sankey and for their entire narrative that they are now at basketball conference had seven of the Sweet 16 teams. Now obviously they will have a representative in the national championship as Florida and Auburn play against each other. Ari Miro and others are saying that NFL executive Peter O'Reilly good guy. That change chat with O from the NFL said that the league is exploring a possibility of a regular season game in the United Arab Emirates. But more work is needed before it becomes a reality. Reality. Let me tell you why they're doing that.
Boston Connor
Explain it.
Pat McAfee
If you maybe, I mean maybe that might be the actual thing. It's like can we do business over there? And if we can, how often? And is that a real thing? And it's like, yes, okay. I would like to be on the side of. I think it's good, good to help countries and everything evolve. I think it's a good thing, like getting a chance to watch from afar. I've never been over there. What the WWE has done alongside Saudi Arabia and the crown prince, God bless him, and everything they have going on over there for their citizens, for their entertainment, for day to Day, for what life is like from what it was just 10, 15 years ago to what it is now. Like, I think that's good for their society, good for the world. Now granted, there's a lot of detraction factors to all of that. You're doing business with people that have. And it's like if we start digging in all those things, especially in all these different countries, like I think you're going to be able to find everywhere there's been mistakes, obviously, bigger than in some places, than others. I get it. But watching their society evolve with the WWE and with sport and with entertainment and us taking the game. Like, I like the thought of bringing the world together and closer via sport. I enjoy the fact that golf was being utilized as something for Saudi Arabia folks to get interested in more American sports. Like I like the thought of sport bringing the world together because ultimately that's what I think sports are about. And if the NFL is able to take their game over there and Receive a huge payment. A huge payment. I think it's good for the world as a whole. But yes, that number. Number and the amount of apostrophes that'll be on that one, I assume only goes up, which is good for salary cap, good for the league, but also a very real situation.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, great. I don't know what that. What's that flight like 18 hours or something to try to get over there. You might have a bye week coming back from that one. But you're right. Like, that's. I mean, if they're a whole nother part.
Ian Rapoport
If they're doing Australia, if they're talking about doing Australia, like, I don't think they give a.
A.J. Hawk
About the Concord. The new Concorde's coming out in a year or two, right? Remember Ursay was talking about when their new Concorde. That's about to.
Boston Connor
Let's give that thing a couple years.
Pat McAfee
I don't know. I don't know if I'm signing up for this. Get on the first one.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Just like Connor just said, I'll go.
A.J. Hawk
On the seventh one. Oh, like you let someone else.
Ty Schmidt
I don't know about that.
A.J. Hawk
I'll go on it a month after. It's in double digits.
Pat McAfee
Me double digits in that one at least. Maybe triple. That's like. I'm at a point now where people are trying to sell me planes, which is hilarious. And it's crazy to me that the brand new ones are so much more expensive because if somebody comes up to me and they say they got a brand new plane, I'm like. And say, this thing's got. No, no, this thing's never been up or down. Like, well, in cast, obviously. It's like, I'm not getting on that plane. I need my bird to be experienced. Okay. I need to experience a midwestern wind, a Midwestern fall. I needed to go over there towards the northeast whenever, you know, it's about to be winter and that bay is humming like, I'd like some hours on my plate. I would like some hours on it. No, this is the one you want. It's like. No, it is the. It is. I'm not getting on that thing. No way. Have the wheels gone down and up yet? Because I've been on a plane where the wheels wouldn't go up. Okay. And that's certainly something. And then I've been on one where the wheels wouldn't go down for like a couple hours and they're like, we think we might have to body this thing. And it's like, I'M dead. Okay. I'm dying today. That's sweet. So I want my bird to have a little experience. Just like the Concord. If I'm hot hopping on an actual rocket, I'd like that thing to at least take a trip. Another round, another round, another round, you know, but maybe that'll be the thing.
A.J. Hawk
I want one of those. I want a drone. Like the human sized drone, where it's like the one seater. I get in, I just type my destination and it flies me 20 minutes to my house or something. That's what I'm looking for.
Pat McAfee
I don't think you can get to England for a game.
A.J. Hawk
Nah, I mean, this is more shorter. Like, hey, I'm at the Thunderdome. I need to go a 25 minute drive from here. Boom. Give me my little, my little uber, uber drone where I can order from my phone. Oh, yeah, right.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Is that a helicopter? If it's four choppers that are doing all the work, I don't know, you tell me. All right, we'll wrap it up here. Netflix Raw, 3:00 Eastern. One hour and six minutes from now. Should be a great time in London. If not, we're back tomorrow. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. Goodbye.
A.J. Hawk
Boom. Nice.
Ian Rapoport
Torpedoed that.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, it did.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Ian Rapoport
You torpedoed the. Out of that thing.
Pat McAfee
Still think that is genius. That feels like something they're going to ban. Yeah. Just seems like a genius play.
A.J. Hawk
Was it just a perfect storm where they used the bats and all of a sudden they got hotter? They faced pitchers that they, they see the ball. Well, like what happened?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, I mean, they hit, they hit nine homers in their set.
A.J. Hawk
They're not going to continue this pace.
Ty Schmidt
Definitely not yet. I mean, that's what. Yeah, the brewers, they, they on, on Saturday, they hit three homers in the three. The first three pitches of the game. And you know, so it's kind of really, really started to, to heat things up there. But yeah, I mean, anytime you hit nine homers in a game, like, I mean, they scored so many runs and they just beat the shit out of them that people are going to say, you know, hey, you got to call competitive balance into. But again, everyone had the opportunity to do something like this and it has kind of been around before. But ob. Like I said, like it. If the Yankees or like the Dodgers or, you know, like one of these big teams do this, it's obviously going to get a lot more eyes on it, but we'll see. I would, I would assume that you Know more people are going to start using these in the coming weeks.
Pat McAfee
Here.
Boston Connor
Juice the balls. It's time to juice the balls. Okay. We don't want guys taking steroids. Fine. Get the Torpedo bats on every team and juice the balls. And then we get the summer slam all over again. And baseball is all the way back because I also saw a cool promo video video of all the players and all the teams. And it did make me want to watch baseball because it had sweet music behind it and had sh. Hit and homers with Aaron Judge. Like, this is. This is such a simple fix to the problem baseball has had in the past.
Darius J. Butler
I'm with you. Coming. I. I am still shocked from the news that you told me the m. The guy that built these bats works for the Miami Mar. That probably answers your question. AJ that is not the bats. Yeah, that's definitely. We've been what, one of the shittiest teams last.
Ty Schmidt
Real bad.
A.J. Hawk
Samson was there.
Darius J. Butler
Jazz is figured it out.
Ty Schmidt
Doug, go.
Darius J. Butler
It's ridiculous.
Ty Schmidt
But a lot of people are also saying that John Carlos Stanton used the Torpedo bat last year, and that's why both of his elbows don't anymore. So maybe the weight distribution, you know, that could call something into.
Pat McAfee
He was swinging too hard.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, exactly.
Pat McAfee
Swinging too hard. Those torpedoes. I think it's good for baseball. I love it. All right, before I get out of here, we got to talk about something that obviously captivated some headlines. Morgan Wallen just wasn't told he was supposed to talk to everybody or what do you think happened?
Ian Rapoport
He just wanted to get back to God. He just wanted to get back to God's country, man.
Pat McAfee
I mean.
A.J. Hawk
Does the musical act spend all week or at least the last couple days?
Ian Rapoport
Probably.
A.J. Hawk
He didn't just come in for Saturday.
Boston Connor
Spent the credits there. I know that he was over it.
A.J. Hawk
Well, over everything.
Pat McAfee
They. So they had the photo. Remember they did the promo where he was standing on the side, didn't say anything, was just giving the looks. Morgan Wallen, my number one Spotify musician, so I am big fan. I've had a chance to meet him a few times. Cool, dude. When I heard he was doing Saturday Live, he was super pumped for him. Yeah, I walked out with him. You're right. I completely forgot about that. I watched all of them at Lucasville Stadium. The first one, I think it was like the first one, the first walkout. Me and Tyrese Haliburton, obviously, we were out there going mad, silly dude. Mad dog. It was so lit, dude. We were doing it. So when I saw the first promo where he didn't say anything. He just kind of looked over and head nodded. I was like, oh, this looks like it's going well. And then. Then I saw the. Then I saw him at the end give the ass out hug. Not the ass out skin hug. And then I saw him just roll right out towards the camera. I mean, I laughed my ass. I laughed, said, I. Let's just be funny. I laughed very hard. I left very hard. He said he was not. I don't know if it was him or somebody in his team. Said he was. He did not know. He thought show was over. He thought he was just supposed to. To go on and get out of there. So I think it's a legendary exit. And then he gets to Teterboro and he says, get me back to my dirt bikes and get me back. Back to my 40s and get me back to God's country. And I think, obviously, I assume he was honored to be a part of Saturday Live, but he did something that's never been done before, and that show has been on a long time. I laughed so hard, though. So hard watching it take place. Because what if nobody told him and he never watched the end? Like, what if he never got to the end? I'm a Saturday Night Live. And they're like, you know, it's been on for 50 years. And he's like, yeah, yeah, we'll say goodbye and yeah, all right. All right, see you.
Boston Connor
Yeah, it's incredible.
Pat McAfee
I love it. I love. I laugh so hard. What's the issue?
A.J. Hawk
What do people. What do people think? They think the. The staff didn't or, you know, the crew. The cast didn't like him or he didn't like the cast? Is that what happened? He got places or he just had to get home?
Pat McAfee
No.
Ian Rapoport
Where does. He just didn't know. He just. That's. That was the same way he left all week long.
Darius J. Butler
That's just.
Ian Rapoport
What. How went.
Pat McAfee
He. Every time I've been up here, I. Right, Dick, That's. It says exit. Is that where people said that maybe, you know, he didn't get along or they didn't get along or. I saw some terrible things said about Morgan by people on the Internet, because obviously they can say that he's given. He's provided an opportunity throughout his entire life for that to happen, but keep on trucking. Morgan, you did great. You did absolutely great. And your exit is one they'll talk about forever. They'll actually say, next time, hey, don't do the Morgan Walling.
Boston Connor
So.
Pat McAfee
So that, like, they'll say that forever.
Boston Connor
Yes.
Pat McAfee
You know, and that's what. That's what legends do. That's what legends do, brother. All right, I'm gonna go do this program. I can't thank you guys enough. 1,750 tickets on sale Wednesday at noon. Just been opened up. Just been opened up.
Boston Connor
Let's go.
Pat McAfee
Hell, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Get it.
Pat McAfee
Do you think there's a background on that graphic? I can't.
A.J. Hawk
What do you mean?
Pat McAfee
My screen. I can't.
Boston Connor
It's just black.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, there is actually a little bit. There's a little like a. Like a black, gravely, gravelly kind of feel to it.
Boston Connor
I can see it.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Why would you want to see that? You know? Like, why would you. If you were making the graphic? You take all the time to put the city of Pittsburgh in the background of the graphic, you know? Why would you want anybody to see it, huh?
A.J. Hawk
That's not.
Pat McAfee
I'm just happy it says big night out, Pat. I'm really just happy to see that on there.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, it is.
Pat McAfee
I do worry that my. I do worry that my leadership and coaching is just not good. Because this debone guy, you know, we'll get to a new graphic and it's like, have I taught you nothing? Have we. Have you or my words not. Can you hear? Are you deaf? What is the. Am I not saying so I'll tell you what. Debon is really challenged me to become a better orator. And for that, I appreciate him because the guy's a talent. The guy's a talent and he knows it. But great graphic here, and it's great news. Cannot wait for big night out. Week and a half from today. It's happening. Holy.
Boston Connor
Let's go.
Pat McAfee
It's happening. It's gonna be cool. All right. Let me go out here. I sent the video in of where I'm mat. Can you guys pull that up?
A.J. Hawk
We play that. What. What is that room used for? Do you know? Look at this sec.
Pat McAfee
No idea. So it's a back room.
Boston Connor
Oh, that is.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, hell yeah.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, that's. Every arena should. That's all rooms like this.
Ian Rapoport
Good lad.
Pat McAfee
That's Eddie Orango, one of our greatest officials here at the wwe, said, hey, I got a room for you, brother. Nobody knows about it. And then bang, I walked into this thing. That's where I'm at right now.
Ty Schmidt
That is literally.
Pat McAfee
That's where.
A.J. Hawk
I guess it's a green room.
Pat McAfee
I wonder who. Who. I wonder who all has been here, like. And I don't see a. Oh, yeah, there is one right there. I guess I was gonna. Oh, I was thinking maybe this is a.
Boston Connor
Sure, yeah. Cover that thing up.
Darius J. Butler
They've done some things in there.
Ian Rapoport
I don't think we want to know what happens in that room.
Boston Connor
Yeah, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Don't get a black light on that couch.
Pat McAfee
I mean, look at the waterfall.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, they have a waterfall. They got people decorated jungle for a reason.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, the whole thing is a mirror on one side.
Pat McAfee
You think they're boning in here?
A.J. Hawk
I think people are bones. People are BO for sure. Right there.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Right.
Ian Rapoport
With those mirrors. That's what they're for.
Pat McAfee
You think people are Bonnie. The other two right here.
A.J. Hawk
Is that cloth? Is that cloth on the couch? You. You want some leather you can wipe up? You know that stuff's gonna seep into that. That cloth. Oh. Oh, boy.
Boston Connor
That's bad news, Bear.
Ian Rapoport
They steam clean it.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I wonder who Steven I sat on here.
Boston Connor
McJagger.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. For everybody.
Ian Rapoport
This could be Ringos. Ringos, sorry.
Pat McAfee
The artist. Formally known.
Ian Rapoport
All the Beatles.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ian Rapoport
Really?
Boston Connor
Even John?
Darius J. Butler
Allegedly.
Pat McAfee
Paul, obviously. I got some lefty seing in here. You're right. Good question.
A.J. Hawk
All right, I'm out of here.
Pat McAfee
I'll see you boys.
Ian Rapoport
See you, brother.
Ty Schmidt
Go get him.
A.J. Hawk
So Netflix, 3:00pm Eastern, correct?
Pat McAfee
Correct.
A.J. Hawk
Netflix, 3:00pm Eastern. We're on the road. Wrestlemania.
Boston Connor
We are on the road. Yeah, we're close, man.
A.J. Hawk
What happens tonight? Who's. Who's coming out tonight? Possibly somebody that we can't see.
Boston Connor
Yeah, I think, you know, I don't know why.
A.J. Hawk
Could that be a great actor?
Ian Rapoport
I thought we were done making those jokes.
A.J. Hawk
What?
Ty Schmidt
They're not funny.
A.J. Hawk
They never were.
Ian Rapoport
You can't see me. I. Is there a final boss?
A.J. Hawk
I want John Cena to start rapping again.
Ian Rapoport
Honestly, he never stopped.
Boston Connor
I wonder if Cody Rhodes is going to play Clash of clans in the middle of the ring. I think there's a chance.
Ian Rapoport
What do you want to do?
A.J. Hawk
I did see a video of that.
Darius J. Butler
Triple H going to keep protecting Cody Rhodes.
Ian Rapoport
Oh, he won't let him go face to face. Cuz Senior would destroy him with the promo.
Darius J. Butler
Want Cena cook him on the mic.
A.J. Hawk
Is Dwayne over there?
Ian Rapoport
You mean the final boss?
Darius J. Butler
Final boss? I don't know.
Boston Connor
I don't know.
A.J. Hawk
No, actually, I saw he couldn't get out to the UFL game because his flight had to turn around mid flight from Hawaii over the ocean.
Darius J. Butler
How was the ufo?
Ian Rapoport
A great weekend.
A.J. Hawk
Didn't old buddy come? Made a kick.
Darius J. Butler
Destroyed.
A.J. Hawk
Destroying drain.
Boston Connor
A kick?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Ian Rapoport
39 yard there's a lot of good tackling.
Ty Schmidt
Skip Holtz and some other head coach almost got into a fist fight.
Darius J. Butler
I did not miss that.
Ty Schmidt
It's pretty sweet.
Ian Rapoport
I watch Jordan Town drop some dimes.
A.J. Hawk
You think the Rock pays him a bonus if coaches fight? Okay. Get more eyeballs.
Ty Schmidt
Sounds like they all want bonuses. And that was kind of why we almost didn't have the UFL this year.
Boston Connor
Yeah, they did.
Darius J. Butler
They did have the first down technology.
A.J. Hawk
This is where we get new technology. Eventually get to NFL, right?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
That was sweet to see.
A.J. Hawk
So there it must be, what a chip in the ball and then this on the field. Like how quick what technology they use. The NFL won't use microprocessor. Give us that. Probably microprocessors, but great. How bad that would hurt to come in and make that tackle who would.
Darius J. Butler
You know, throw the fist up. Fourth down.
Pat McAfee
Wow.
A.J. Hawk
So do we think this has legs, this. This league? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ian Rapoport
The crowd was packed.
Pat McAfee
Definitely.
Boston Connor
Definitely has, like, I mean, first, like, like a centipede.
A.J. Hawk
These guys, every guy playing on this field, they're all elite football players, no doubt about it. So much better than anybody we've watched play in high school and mostly in college.
Pat McAfee
Agreed.
A.J. Hawk
But it's weird when it's not the NFL. D But why does it, man, why is it so hard to get invested in something that's not the NFL? Oh, here we go. This is Puka's brother, right?
Boston Connor
Yeah, I think his brother.
Ian Rapoport
Both of Puka's brothers scored, I believe.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Really good day.
Ty Schmidt
I feel like I'm watching any given Sunday. That's why I can't get on board with it because it's like, these aren't NFL uniforms. Like, I feel like I'm watching a movie where they couldn't get NFL licensing and we have these weird Michigan Panthers. Like, I'm just never going to get there with that.
A.J. Hawk
Where are they ever. Where's the game?
Boston Connor
Where are these games still in?
Ian Rapoport
That's Simmons Bank State.
Pat McAfee
The Michigan Panthers will play at Ford Field. I know that.
Boston Connor
Okay, so they have home. They have home.
A.J. Hawk
Need to play smaller venues probably.
Boston Connor
Well, the thing thing is, like, that doesn't matter. Like, that's what the indoor league does. Like, college football in the NFL are such incredible products where, like, even the step down, like, I mean, LeBron kind of mentioned it with college basketball, like, even the step down from college to NBA, people have a tough time with. And like, something like that versus a college game is a level. And then obviously, I mean, you guys know, like, college 10. NFL is another level. So it's like, it just, you know, it's fun.
A.J. Hawk
You got to be invested. You gotta be invested in the players. That's the problem. If. Yeah, obviously, yeah. A family member playing, you're gonna go like. And you're gonna be all in. But outside of that, how do you get casuals to all of a sudden be interested in something that's a new startup?
Ty Schmidt
More POV cam. That's certainly a way to start innovation. Yeah.
Boston Connor
Doing an F1 series, you know, that's how people got on.
Ty Schmidt
I also don't.
A.J. Hawk
I don't know.
Ty Schmidt
You can't do it.
Darius J. Butler
The.
Ty Schmidt
Like, the March Madness is on this weekend. It's like the biggest games of the year. Like, I'm not. It's very hard to be like. And I know the, you know, Elite eight is going on, but UFL season starting.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, Joe CL was calling the game, wasn't he? Yeah, yeah. Fox is, you know, big time.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah.
Boston Connor
Cole Cubic fell asleep during it.
A.J. Hawk
No, he didn't.
Ian Rapoport
Did he Snoring.
Boston Connor
You might as well just saw. He wasn't a huge fan. But I also didn't see exactly what happened.
Ian Rapoport
Speaking of lower leagues, Bruce bought season tickets to Fishers Freight. The indoor league starts soon. Iowa Barnstormers. Oh, a season open next week.
A.J. Hawk
What sport is it?
Darius J. Butler
What sport is it?
John Shire
Indoor indoor football league.
A.J. Hawk
Fisher. Fisher freights.
Pat McAfee
10 4,129 victory in the first win.
A.J. Hawk
It's actually very fun to watch in person. There's big hits and there's touchdowns all over the place.
Darius J. Butler
Any players we know?
Boston Connor
Yeah, me. I'm actually playing quarterback.
Gumpy
Yeah, Not.
Ty Schmidt
Not yet.
A.J. Hawk
You should go play some.
Pat McAfee
What position?
Boston Connor
Playing quarterback for free. That's where I was there.
Ty Schmidt
Six touchdowns.
Pat McAfee
Wait, where do they play?
A.J. Hawk
What kind of venue is it?
Ian Rapoport
It's. It's a new venue. It's around here in Fishers. It's seats like 7,000.
Ty Schmidt
It's where, like the volleyball. Andy Fuel. Yeah. Blake Shelton. Just there.
Ian Rapoport
Is that the freight?
Boston Connor
Yeah, that's a big play for us.
A.J. Hawk
So is this a. This the Arena League? Is this the. The league that AB had a team?
Boston Connor
Oh, you talking about the Albany Empire?
Ian Rapoport
I don't know if that league exists anymore.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah, under was 83.
A.J. Hawk
This is the IFL. Yeah. This isn't like the Arena League.
Boston Connor
This is fluent game.
Darius J. Butler
Well, I mean, the under was.
Ty Schmidt
A lot of people were saying Joseph Jr. Might win defensive player of the year.
A.J. Hawk
I did hear that.
Darius J. Butler
I did hear.
Boston Connor
No, no.
Darius J. Butler
Who got season six?
Pat McAfee
Bruce.
A.J. Hawk
Bruce.
Pat McAfee
Bruce.
Darius J. Butler
Game, huh?
Ty Schmidt
How do you afford that? He decided not to get McDonald's last week.
Boston Connor
Come on.
Gumpy
Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
These guys are late on the line.
Boston Connor
They're affordable family. For our entertainment, a couple picked up a coupon at modern day Gladiators.
A.J. Hawk
Some poor guy owns the team.
Ty Schmidt
That being said, this is like 10 minutes from my house. I. I'll go to every game. If you don't think I'm going to be embedded in the Iowa barstor bench, you're crazy.
A.J. Hawk
It might let you coast.
Ty Schmidt
Maybe.
Boston Connor
You might get a carry in the goal line.
Ian Rapoport
When's the season over at home?
A.J. Hawk
Sorry about that, RPO.
John Shire
Friday 705.
Ty Schmidt
See you there.
A.J. Hawk
Yep. Like Friday night. Yeah. Like, now I get my high school fix in the, you know, in the off season, in the spring, you know, I miss Friday night lights. Usually in the spring. Now I have it back.
Ty Schmidt
They got good booze. Cocktails at that place. Do that, you know.
A.J. Hawk
No. Sweet. Football, we've showed it before. But the, you know, the outdoor adult league where they wear no pads but still full contact, that is actually very.
Boston Connor
That needs, like.
A.J. Hawk
They send me messages all the time.
Boston Connor
To watch that needs a Savannah Bananas run where they're going around from field to field and playing football.
A.J. Hawk
What is Savannah Banana? Are they really traveling?
Darius J. Butler
Like, they sell out stadiums.
A.J. Hawk
Okay, can you explain? There's two teams. Teams, right?
Ian Rapoport
Yep.
A.J. Hawk
Always two teams. The same two teams play each other.
Boston Connor
The party animals and the bananas.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, actually.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Darius J. Butler
Baseball, globe. Call them Globetrotter.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Basically same thing.
A.J. Hawk
But are they. Okay, Are the outcomes? How's. What are the outcomes? They're playing, like. I mean, they're just doing, like, cool dances before they throw, but then they're like, really pitching and really trying to hit it. Oh, yeah.
Boston Connor
And they just have, like, sweet gimmicks like, oh, buddy. Yeah, Backyard baseball, where like, you have, like, activate stilts mode or something. Like, so that's what we're doing.
Pat McAfee
But activate big.
A.J. Hawk
But the bats can play there. Like they're legit baseball players.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Boston Connor
Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
But do you have to audition? Because you have to be an absolute.
Ty Schmidt
They got the guy who does, like, the back flip in the outfield before he catches, you know, pop fly.
A.J. Hawk
That's what I'm saying, dude.
Boston Connor
One of the rules they had was, like, in the ninth inning because they have certain rules with the fans, too.
Ian Rapoport
Oh, those.
Boston Connor
I remember from last year, if you.
A.J. Hawk
Catch a ball or something, if a.
Boston Connor
Fan catches a foul ball, game's over. That team wins. And it happened. And, like, really, people went nuts. I thought I Thought they brought the fan onto the field. Like, it was. It was really cool, actually.
A.J. Hawk
So they're still trying to win. Each team is trying to win the game.
Pat McAfee
Yes.
A.J. Hawk
But they all.
Ty Schmidt
They each have their own little get paid.
A.J. Hawk
Really?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
They each have their own form of entertainment, though.
Ty Schmidt
That's true. Cool.
A.J. Hawk
But they eat like. They all have like elaborate. Sometimes I'll see the video. The dude like walking in from the top of the stage stadium doing a choreographed dance with 80 people.
Ian Rapoport
They have a good time.
A.J. Hawk
I know how many stops they have.
Ty Schmidt
They sold out Fenway, like not too long.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Boston Connor
Before the season starts for an entire weekend. I mean, they. I. I'm not sure if they sold it out, but they sold like 60, 000 tickets in the Raymond James for the Tampa Buccaneers play.
Darius J. Butler
It's crazy.
A.J. Hawk
Has anyone made the jump to the majors?
Boston Connor
I don't know if that's how it works, Tone.
A.J. Hawk
I'm not confident that. You are confident. What you said couple guys.
Boston Connor
That's not how it works.
Ian Rapoport
Well, I think you may just said.
A.J. Hawk
That just came out.
Boston Connor
I do think it's the opposite.
A.J. Hawk
Was he doing backflip?
Boston Connor
I do think it is the opposite where like single A, double A guys will go to the banana guys, hope.
A.J. Hawk
They get paid because these guys are legit, like, entertaining.
Ty Schmidt
Like, Shane Victorino was playing for one of the other teams. He's like a former like mvp. Yeah. Like he, he. I don't know if he was on the party animals or the Bananas, but.
Boston Connor
Yeah, I think he was a banana. Johnny Damon. Ryan Howard.
Darius J. Butler
Johnny Damon.
Boston Connor
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Boston Connor
They played like in a game.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. Like they were really part of it. Not just like, hey, this is an honorary at bad or.
Boston Connor
No, no, no. Like they were part of the game. Oh, I don't know. They might have been a pinch head situation, but either way they were playing.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, if you can pitch off of stilts, I give you credit, you should win that game.
Ty Schmidt
Certainly.
A.J. Hawk
That dude's on stil. Yeah, look, that's where Raymond James.
Boston Connor
Yeah, yeah. Nuts.
Pat McAfee
That's a cool setup. Wow.
A.J. Hawk
Who won this one? Bananas.
Ian Rapoport
Bananas.
Pat McAfee
Maybe. Probably bananas. Probably things that happens. If it's like. I can't remember, if it's a foul ball and a fan catches it, it is called an out.
Boston Connor
Okay. I like that rule. I like that rule.
Pat McAfee
I don't know if we said that already, but that was one of my favorite things of all time.
A.J. Hawk
We did.
Ian Rapoport
We started it.
Ty Schmidt
It's a good gimmick. It's good.
A.J. Hawk
He reinforced it. He drove it home. It is True though, right? So, wow.
Darius J. Butler
How far is the home run?
A.J. Hawk
What if I throw it back? If you hit a homer and you throw it back, doesn't something happen?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, they beat the out of you.
Ian Rapoport
No, actually, if you hit it down here, if the fan throws the home run ball back, then the club signs you, and then you lead them to the World Series. But then your elbow fully heals, you can't throw the fastball anymore. Chet Stedman's your.
A.J. Hawk
Your.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, your.
Ty Schmidt
Your mentor.
A.J. Hawk
He's like a grumpy old guy, right? He starts dating your mom.
Ian Rapoport
Love Salisbury steak.
Ty Schmidt
Loves it.
A.J. Hawk
Doesn't looks like he's like 58. He's still pitching in the majors.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, don't call him. Don't call him the Rocket anymore.
A.J. Hawk
You want to reference the movie? You're talking to all these young people.
Ian Rapoport
What?
A.J. Hawk
Anyone younger than you?
Ian Rapoport
There was no movie reference there.
A.J. Hawk
Tells you the rules of Rosenbagger. That from top to bottom. That was a great era of movies. I guess.
Ian Rapoport
Whatever.
A.J. Hawk
That came out D. You've seen that, right? What? Why is he looking? You haven't seen anything.
Darius J. Butler
I see. I was trying to get name. I did not see it.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, it was great.
Darius J. Butler
I saw one of those movies.
Ian Rapoport
Little Giants.
Darius J. Butler
Can't remember.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, we got Little Giants.
Pat McAfee
You've seen, you know, Icebox Lot, Spike.
Darius J. Butler
Absolutely. Banger. Still haven't seen Mighty Ducks. Those.
Ian Rapoport
The Big Green.
Ty Schmidt
Steve Gutenberg head coach.
Darius J. Butler
Airbud.
Ian Rapoport
Airbud.
Pat McAfee
Great time for original space.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, my kids were watching original Space Jam last night. It holds up.
Darius J. Butler
Did they?
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah.
Darius J. Butler
Which one do you like better?
A.J. Hawk
They haven't even seen the new one.
Darius J. Butler
I meant to ask Ron about Space Jam.
A.J. Hawk
Space Jam was legit. That's a movie.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. Jordan looks good.
Darius J. Butler
Magic stuff.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, legit movie. And I think he filmed. Didn't he film it in the middle of his three Pete?
Boston Connor
Yeah. And they. They built an entire.
A.J. Hawk
I remember that right. Gym where he would go play, bring in all the big time dudes, and he would play. I tried to tell my kids that, actually. I was like, hey, this. There's a reason Michael Jordan's Michael Jordan. When he was filming this in the off season, he brought in all the best players in the world and played for eight hours every single day to try to, like, let him, you know, just reinforce that Jordan didn't wake up and all of a sudden become that good.
Darius J. Butler
I'm glad you force it.
A.J. Hawk
I did. They didn't listen. They didn't hear.
Darius J. Butler
Every day. Yeah, it'll resonate.
A.J. Hawk
They heard you Think.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Some point.
Boston Connor
They'll get it one day.
Ian Rapoport
Maybe not yesterday, but they heard.
A.J. Hawk
You're right. You're right. Someday, with that being said, I think we're going to wrap this thing up, Tone.
Ian Rapoport
Okay.
A.J. Hawk
Anything we need to know as far as gambling moving forward from today until tomorrow when Packet's back. No, nothing going on tonight. Anything you can gamble on tonight?
Ian Rapoport
The Crown. The Crown Basketball tournament starts tonight in Vegas.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Darius J. Butler
The. Is that.
Ian Rapoport
It's not the nit. It's not the CBI guy. But it is a college basketball tournament. I think it's the first year it's happened. It starts in Vegas. Teams haven't played basketball in two months, so it should be like, who's playing?
A.J. Hawk
Do we know who's playing?
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, like, Arizona State's playing Nebraska. Georgetown's playing Washington. Those are real teams. I'm confused. Yeah, like, these are decent teams. I've never seen this before. I don't know why it took so long to start. But this is happening tonight.
Pat McAfee
Everyone's in the portal.
Ian Rapoport
I was confused as well, Foxy. These teams haven't played basketball in two months. They don't have gu. I. I don't understand it.
A.J. Hawk
Tomorrow's April 1st. Is there a chance you got duped?
Pat McAfee
Oh, no chance.
Ian Rapoport
This is the crown, brother.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Boston Connor
You got any plans for April Fools?
A.J. Hawk
I'm a big April Fool's guy.
Boston Connor
That's why. That's why I asked.
A.J. Hawk
No. Okay. What stupid April Fool's things are we going to wake up and hear tomorrow?
Ian Rapoport
So many Aaron signed.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah.
Darius J. Butler
For sure.
Ty Schmidt
Yep.
A.J. Hawk
What if he was waiting to sign an April Fools just to mess with?
Ian Rapoport
That would be him.
A.J. Hawk
That'd be so Aaron. No, I mean, April Fool's things, people. I don't know what the old classic go to's are.
Ty Schmidt
I mean, people. A lot of people are gonna get got on Twitter tomorrow. We're gonna have a couple celebrities that, you know, die tomorrow. Which they're not dead, but we're gonna get several of those.
A.J. Hawk
That always funny when we think someone's dead. And then we say, oh, gotcha. We're not.
Darius J. Butler
Yeah, I saw that. Just pass.
A.J. Hawk
Who would have. Which one are you referencing?
Darius J. Butler
I just saw them. I watch a lot of sports talk.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, okay.
A.J. Hawk
But for the record, this person's alive, though.
Darius J. Butler
I hope so. Think so.
A.J. Hawk
All right. All right.
Darius J. Butler
I mean, I saw it multiple times. I just want isolated.
A.J. Hawk
If I'm not confident that someone is dead, I'm not going to announce them dead. Just for the record. Just like I'm not Going to ask if you're pregnant.
Darius J. Butler
Smart.
Boston Connor
Let them tell you.
Ian Rapoport
That is smart.
A.J. Hawk
If you're dead, I need to see you dead. Or you need to tell me you're dead. And if you're pregnant, I'm never asking. You got to tell me.
Ian Rapoport
Bingo, dude.
A.J. Hawk
I'll just say congratulations.
Boston Connor
I'm with you on that. I thought a thousand percent.
Ian Rapoport
Yeah, that's smart.
A.J. Hawk
It's good rule.
Pat McAfee
Everyone should be with you on that.
A.J. Hawk
They're not. Everyone's not. I know they're not.
Ian Rapoport
And also with you, man.
A.J. Hawk
Look at juju. How many months pregnant are you, huh? And then the person's not. I've been around a few of those.
Boston Connor
Bobby, stop. Again.
Ty Schmidt
You should bag some dog like tonight and like, maybe you piss in like a couple plastic cups and set it out tomorrow and make your kids think that's what's for breakfast.
A.J. Hawk
What?
Boston Connor
That's a good idea.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ian Rapoport
We don't have any groceries.
Ty Schmidt
This is the best we got to make do with what we got.
Ian Rapoport
The new diet.
A.J. Hawk
And as they're slopping up the turds, I got you April Fools after I see him eat three bowls of it.
Boston Connor
Or, or, or you put some of that turd on like a donut and you're just like, hey, guys, got donuts today. Everyone's got. You know, he's got chocolate. Frosty got a. Got a double chocolate.
Ian Rapoport
Oh, the store manager took a in our donuts.
A.J. Hawk
Know if I do.
Darius J. Butler
You guys do.
A.J. Hawk
If I end up doing that, I will film it for you guys. It would not traumatize my kids at all. Tony, you got. You got kids.
Ian Rapoport
I do.
A.J. Hawk
You could do it. How old is she?
Ian Rapoport
Two and a half.
A.J. Hawk
Oh yeah, she gets it. Dad fed me a poop donut today, but it was April Fools. Luckily he's not just.
Boston Connor
That was a good one. Yeah, it was a good one.
Ian Rapoport
I'll probably do it. I'll film it. I'll film it for you.
A.J. Hawk
Okay, good. Well, tomorrow, Pasc, he's going to make the long flight back here obviously tonight, man. He's logging some. Some miles. His. His schedule is unbelievable, but in at 3pm Eastern, WWE Raw from London, England, the O2 Arena. We'll be playing over to Netflix. Check that out. That'll be awesome. We hear a couple. Couple pop in guests maybe that aren't always around might be there, right?
Ty Schmidt
Maybe.
A.J. Hawk
Maybe we'll be intrigued. I will be back in Ohio in the attic tomorrow. D butt. Appreciate you. You'll be here tomorrow with Pat. He's only Monday, huh? Okay. Next week, big night out. Wednesday at noon, 1750 more tickets will go on sale. Gonna be awesome. Can't wait to see what that whole situation is like. It's gonna be, gonna be super cool. I'm looking forward to it. Good to be back with you boys. Everybody in the back. Appreciate you guys helping me out and everything today. I'll be back tomorrow. Pat will be here. Con man, good to see you. Tom. Ty, Tone, great job. You look good.
Pat McAfee
Break us down, Hawks, break us down.
A.J. Hawk
Here we go, guys. Everyone in the back. Here we go. Get them up. Here we go. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three, Team.
