Pat McAfee
Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome on this overreaction Monday, October 6, 2025. This program begins right now. Football. It is magical. We're incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about it every single day. It's a massive overreaction. Monday we had comebacks in abundance both yesterday and on Saturday. We had absolute chaos in college ball. Baseball still happening, obviously. The WNBA has its finals. It's a great day to be in the sports world and we recover it all. We have Adam Schefter joining us in about 15 minutes or so. And the toxic tables here at Boston. Connor, who's become a New England Patriots billboard after a huge night last night. Seems like you're a little bit louder in your fandom of the Patriots on this particular overreaction Monday than maybe you have been in a while. Huge. Okay. And that's a Drake May. Okay, obviously you got the Drake May mug.
Connor Rogers
I think this, I mean, it's pretty standard. I don't know why we're doing this whole thing. Like, you know, this is Monday, but I don't know what are you guys talking about?
Pat McAfee
You know, it just the. I don't think we've seen that mug used.
Connor Rogers
This one. Okay, so you guys are just screwing around. You're trying to do the whole. This guy doesn't use the May mug every Monday.
Pat McAfee
Okay, Monday. May mug. We know it's been a thing. On that note, congratulations.
Ty Schmidt
Big win.
Pat McAfee
Thank you.
Connor Rogers
Expected.
Pat McAfee
That's a huge win. And you've been a Drake May supporter even through the very, very rough year of last year. Every single week, your big takeaway about the Patriots was, hey, our team stinks. We really suck. Drake May is a guy. Yeah, Drake May is a guy. And we'll dive into that in a matter of moments. Nine year NFL vet, host of everything, DB Good D, Bad D. Darius J. Butler's here. And ladies and gentlemen, joining us on their trip across the country in a bus representing Amazon's Thursday Night Football crew that is done a fantastic job since its rollout. Really the trailblazers of the new streaming world that professional sports is getting into. Whenever the NFL decided to dabble with Amazon prime on Thursday nights, there's a lot of people that said, this is going to be ass. There's a lot of people that said this is going to be terrible. The hell do I even download the app? And who's going to be the ones talking? Well, they go and snag Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstream to call the games. Do you know who they are. They're pretty good. And then they put together a pre show that has a resume filled absolute legendary cast that only knows the game. Got pretty good little moxie. Oh, yeah.
Connor Rogers
Great chemistry up there. Definitely the best pre show just because it's not the same, you know, rundown crap we've seen for 20 years.
Pat McAfee
And also we've seen a lot of other crap be tried to put together for those pre shows and very rarely work because they. You know why this one works so well? Yeah, they do. Because. And also, I think it's. They don't know ball anymore. Yes, they don't know ball anymore. So they all share, you know, what they had in common used to be this love of ball. They have it. And the two people joining us right now are in the middle of a bus trip from Los Angeles all the way to MetLife because Rams obviously hosted last week. And then this upcoming week, we got the Giants hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles coming off their first loss, which we will certainly talk about what type of team is going to be showing up for the New York Giants. We had a tough one down in New Orleans. Ladies and gentlemen, representing Thursday night Football. Fits and wit, baby.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Thank you for having us.
Pat McAfee
Appreciate it, baby. 17 years. And then how many for you with 16. Okay, so quick math. 33. I'm not a Harvard guy. 33 years of NFL experience. Let's talk about you guys on this Thursday night games. And we were chit chatting with them a little bit beforehand. Seems like you guys are a tight, niche crew. Did you guys expect to have the amount of success and did you hit it off immediately, Fitz, with a Thursday night football game?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
We did, but there was three guys that had never done TV when we first did it. It was me, Whit and Richard Sherman, which, you know, Sherman's been auditioning for this thing for his whole career. He was meant to be on tv. He was meant to do it. But for us knuckleheads, we didn't know. And I think that you hit it on the head. We love each other and we love football. We love watching it. We love talking about it, and we like to have a good time, too.
Whitney Mercilus
Not short of that. I think that's the best part is really when you leave the game of football, I think you remember the locker room. And that's. That's the part.
Darius Butler
The vibe with all the people you.
Whitney Mercilus
Do work with each and every week. We've created that with our crew. From Wednesday when we get in town to Friday when we leave, there's Not a lot of sleep and there's a lot of hotel bars staying open late. We have a great time just hanging with each other and that's what we do.
Pat McAfee
Well, I think that's how you build chemistry. You two phenomenal teammates. So obviously having good locker room glue guys around is always going to be good. It seems like you guys are killing it and you are crushing it. And I know you paid attention to what happened yesterday. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to hit the top five storylines coming out of week five Sunday that the conversation regarding yesterday's day games is going to be. You never know what the fuck's going to happen. Yeah. It's not just any given Sunday. Brian McCarthy, NFL PR said it's any given fourth quarter now. This one is driven by Ram. Let's put the first 15 minutes on the clock. Ladies and gentlemen. Let's get started. Number five, comeback chaos. We got some stats here from Hembo. There have been 16 games this season with a go ahead score in the final minute of regulation. The most through five weeks of a season since the 1970 merger. Fits the Harvard guy. How many years has it been since 1970?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
55 years.
Pat McAfee
Wow, that's a lot of ball. That's a lot of ball. There have been 10 game winning field goal with no time left in regulation. The most in the first five weeks since the 1970 merger. Hey, Fitz, Harvard guy. How many years is that?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
I didn't see the stats come on.
Pat McAfee
70 since 1975. We got come back chaos. And yesterday certainly contributed to that. Six of them happened across the board. 18 point deficit, 17 point deficit, 14 point deficit, 1110. And then obviously Minnesota kicked off the entire day over there in London town with a magical comeback. Any of these games, Fitz, in your eyes really steal the show. I saw a tweet that you put out and you said that the Cardinals just lost in the worst possible way of all time or something like that.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
I mean, I'm an Arizona guy, so I've been a Cardinals fan for a while. They're getting ready to go up 28 to 66 and D. Mercado. We did it again. We did the drop the ball at the one yard line.
Darius Butler
We need to flip it.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
And it happened to indie last week. So you think that every team is showing the indie clip and saying we don't do this. We run through the goal line, he flips it. Was it really a fumble? Was it not? I don't know. But I sure am glad they called it. I sure am glad they called it.
Pat McAfee
Football Guys, it feels like it was potentially a touchdown cuz he's flipping that thing and if it's in the, in the fingertips it doesn't matter. It's still in his possession. Is the tip of the ball breaking the line and why don't we have a camera down the line? Exactly on that note to what Fitz said, I think everybody around football and in football said who cares. Shouldn't even be that close if you're going to drop the ball before getting in the end zone. One week after AD Mitchell did it, you don't deserve score touchdown right there. Now he obviously took his lickings. Coach Gannon on the sideline certainly had his hat sideways at the end. He even hit him in the chest at one point like can't have it. And then the football gods blessed the Titans with their first win. Cam Ward's first win, Callahan's first win. I think we should be celebrating that db.
Darius Butler
Absolutely. Big time drive by Cam Ward at the end of the game to get it done through. An absolute dot to Calvin Ridley. This play was unbelievable. Like this. This is ridiculous. Some you absolutely just how you draw it up on the NFL football field. But yeah to see Cam Ward come down after last week coming out what he said he's pissed off. Pretty much dropped a quarter to season already. And for him to throw this dot to his big time receiver and then put his team in a position to win the game. Big time moment for his team and for this young quarterback.
Pat McAfee
Good for football yesterday comebacks. Hey, good for red zone channel. We're all still watching my team.
Darius Butler
Three of my teams are on that list.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, in a good way.
Darius Butler
No, oh no no. Boom boom, boom boom boom.
Pat McAfee
I'm just getting down out there. But I will say Scott Hanson did a great job on that thing and it was a good juggle because a lot of those games were absolute shite. Obviously you have 18 point comeback, 17 point comeback, 14 point comeback. That late in the game you think to yourself this, this late of game's kind of shit here. Just like we said it was. Yeah, we thought this was a bad slate. Turns out it was blowouts across the board. And then all of a sudden we had magic there in the witch end. The goldeneye and the witching hour out there and it's beautiful. The NFL certainly needs that. Let's go to number four headline out of the week. Jets and Bengals Wolf complete ass football teams.
Darius Butler
Former Jet for bank.
Pat McAfee
So we'll go straight to the Amazon boys here. I'm watching the same shit you are we'll start with you with the Bengals. I mean, score says it's a little bit closer. Okay. Because Jamar Chase did his thing. He walked in backwards actually at one point yesterday scoring a touchdown. He's still his thing. Going into the season though, we thought to ourselves, is that the right way to build a team and win a Super bowl with the way they're spending the money, then the star quarterback gets hurt with the way you're building that team, they've looked like ass. Are they complete ass or just somewhat ass? Witt, speaking for the Cincinnati Bengals team.
Whitney Mercilus
I'm going to go somewhat ass just because they don't have Joe Burrow.
Connor Rogers
That's fair.
Darius Butler
But I will say this.
Whitney Mercilus
You could go watch the last three plays of the game against the Cleveland Browns in four minute offense where they're trying to secure the game. Those three snaps are maybe the worst three snaps I've ever seen. A physical football from an offensive line of trying to win out a game. The entire offensive line is moving backwards. Those three snaps and the running backs getting hit as he's taking handoffs. That told me that if we don't have Joe Burrow and we got to rely on running the football, we got a lot of freaking issues. And I think that's what you see. Is this all on Jake Browning to do something. And I don't think Jake Browning is built for that.
Pat McAfee
Ty Schmidt, Detroit Lions. Worst team possible to have to play against in the situation that the Bengals were in. Especially Gary Owen. Yeah, jungle. We told him on Friday, hey, this is a bad one for you to be ruling in the jungle. We thought kind of expected outcome here with the Lions thrashing the Bengals. Yeah, without a doubt.
Ty Schmidt
I think you actually have to give the Lions credit because if they would have wanted to, they could have, they could have won 50 nothing, you know, 65. Nothing. Could have beat him by 100. It's. It's just tough. I mean, we talked about this last week. This, this should serve as the, you know, the final warning. Get the, get the Bengals off Thanksgiving. We can't do it.
Connor Rogers
Remind them.
Pat McAfee
Remind them. Is that you guys?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. Can't do it.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Is that you guys?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
No, no, not us.
Ty Schmidt
Run up the ladder.
Pat McAfee
If it was, then we would pass.
Connor Rogers
This cross on to you to bear. Okay.
Pat McAfee
Three games without Joe Burr. The Bengals have now been outscored 104 to 16.
Ty Schmidt
What are we doing?
Pat McAfee
They started having more though, at the end of that game. I mean, there was a lot of piling on this particular Bengals team and we'd like to, like to let the who day nation know that like you guys are okay, man. You guys spent the money in the right spots.
Ty Schmidt
That's right.
Pat McAfee
These are things you can recover from. What are you laughing. These guys. What are you talking about, dude?
Whitney Mercilus
You know, I would like to see him spend it in the offensive line room. That's where I think they should spend a little more money.
Pat McAfee
Hey, they have tried that. We had a graphic last week about them drafting and spending money and it.
Whitney Mercilus
Just for some reason terrible at it. So that's the problem.
Pat McAfee
So that is the thing. You get the wrong guys, wrong group.
Whitney Mercilus
What is since 2011 that they've drafted an offensive lineman and he signed a second contract. I want you to think about that. 14 years since they've drafted an old lineman and he's actually signed a second contract.
Pat McAfee
Is it scheme building, evaluation?
Whitney Mercilus
I think it's evaluation. If you look at it, I'm throwing myself in the mix. 2011, since they drafted a guy and he resigned a contract and they've let Kevin Zeitler and myself walk in free agency. So if you can't draft an offensive lineman and then you've let guys leave who continue to go elsewhere and win, you clearly have an evaluation problem of the priority of the position.
Connor Rogers
You struck a nerve right there, Pat.
Pat McAfee
I mean, I'm just saying, hey, journalism, good journalism. That's a good job. Thank you. I'm excited to do that. And then let's go to the other team that people are saying. That's the whole caboose, brother.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, the whole thing.
Pat McAfee
Obviously the Dallas Cowboys have a big time day and we're certainly happy for Dak without a lot of guys playing which D butt's going to hit here in a few moments, I think having a huge win. But on the flip side, the tweet was floating around yesterday and the stat was floating around because obviously it's a big one. This jets team under Aaron Glenn has no turnover. So. So he's like defensive mastermind. We got. We got no turnovers here. We got dogs all across the board on the defensive side. And then obviously offensively, I think it was very impressive with Justin Fields was able to do with that football off that guy's face. Ye. We watched that a lot this morning. We'll certainly buy into that a little bit. What a throw. But let's talk about the Detroit Lions with mcdc. What were you guys that first year? Foxy started out 0, 10, 0 and 10. And then they get a big time win. Okay, so like instituting that particular culture obviously took a little bit of time. I think there was even conversations about, this guy's lost the locker room, this guy's not going to be able to do it. And then obviously they find their stride and they go with the New York jets, the market, everything like that. Is it going to be possible for Aaron Glenn to have the patience or for people to hold on for them to develop the culture or what are you seeing from them?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Tough place to play. It's a tough place to not win in. They're the only team that hasn't won in the NFL this year. But I think there is some patience and some grace for him this year. They've seen this as a rebuild. I mean, if you go back to the first game they took the Steelers down to the wire, then we've got him doing this deal against the Bucs. I mean, how quickly we forget with under two minutes left, they were beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago. So I think this team, they're going to challenge teams this year. Obviously they're not going to go to the playoffs, but this is a huge culture setting year for Aaron Glenn and he's got to get it going.
Pat McAfee
So Connor actually big believer. And I don't know if he's doing that to reverse things, but you, you actually are a believer. Even after what we saw yesterday.
Connor Rogers
Yeah. For shoots, a believer. Like, especially when you look at the players from the Lions that got much, much better in his defense. Like, I just don't understand why, like, what's going on with Sauce Gardner? Like, that's my question. To debut Sauce Gardner is rookie years.
Pat McAfee
All Pro, all world.
Connor Rogers
Unbelievable. And it's just been like this weird kind of not, I'm not going to say fall off because he's still a great player, but when. What is it?
A.J. Hawk
D.J.
Connor Rogers
Reader, D.J. reed, he went, he goes to Detroit in the off season and now, you know, Sauce Gardner doesn't have a counterpart on the other side that can cover a guy, you know, with without question. And he's kind of getting abused in five straight games. The fact that they have no turnovers, like, dude, at least grab an interception. And I'm not saying it's easy. Like, that's, that's me simplifying. That's why you're as a fat idiot. Yes. But I'm saying, like, hey, dude, like, somebody's got to make a play, right? You're the one that's getting paid $120 million. It's got to be you.
Darius Butler
Yeah, for sure. You and that's never really been his game since coming into the NFL. He's just kind of been one of those lockdown corners, a bunch of bat down. That's one of the things you look at and starts like, hey, I want some more ball production. And but through five games, I mean you would think something would accidentally happen.
Pat McAfee
Yes.
Darius Butler
A ball line of scrimmage, a tip or overthrow, something at this point. So it's just tough. Some of it's some self inflicted negatives as Chuck Pagano will call the sins. A lot of penalties, a lot of sloppy football. Justin Fields has kind of looked good, which is weird. Yeah, they got a lot of things to figure out. I just hope they do have some patience and give Aaron Glenn that time because we know we are not in the, in the environment where you're giving coaches, you know, a long leash at this point.
Connor Rogers
Well, and the other thing too is like we talk about how many offensive linemen went in the first round this year. Will Campbell, as a Patriots fan, I'll say, you know he's doing baby and bingo. Bingo.
Pat McAfee
Louisiana baby. From Monroe, Louisiana, 318. Is that where you're from as well?
Connor Rogers
We are.
Pat McAfee
So you guys have small arms there. What is the thing?
Whitney Mercilus
There's no small arms here. But no, we have different problems. Different problems.
Darius Butler
But he, he's a hell of a.
Whitney Mercilus
Fool football player and he's going to be. I called him the Taylor, the Taylor Lawan of Rabel in Tennessee. That was his tone setter. That's who Will Campbell's going to be for this team.
Pat McAfee
Why did they make such a big deal out of the arm length? Is that a thing?
Whitney Mercilus
I think it is a thing in the sense of you need. I always call it your fallback. When you think of playing db, you play offensive tackle. What is it that I'm going to have moments where I get out of control or I got to be able to survive a down? What is it that I fall back on? Is it my arm length? Is my have my feet? Do I have great feet? Do I have really great anchor? What are those things? So one of those for an offensive lineman you got to think about pushing guys around the edge is your ability to extend and get a guy around the depth of the quarterback. So length goes into that a bunch and so that really what that long arms comes from and then you get long arm bull rushes, stuff like that. You need length. And so I think for Will, he has tremendous feet, a great anchor and he's a powerful kid. He can make up for not having the longer arms.
Pat McAfee
Got it. So it's like a long snapper in my world. You either got to be, like, perfect snapper and blocker or you got to be a really good cover guy. There you go.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
It's got to be one of the Aussie.
Whitney Mercilus
I need a trait.
Darius Butler
What's my trait?
Pat McAfee
It's the Aussie. Absolutely. But his snaps. I think he would even say, like, compared to other guys.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
He's a tackler.
Pat McAfee
Bingo. He is a coverage guy. He's a weapon going down the field for me. Okay. I'm trying to get hang time. I would like my snapper to be like a just jugs machine bread basket every time, and you don't even need to cover. But on that note, that's literally how they're judged. You're saying offensive lineman. Same exact thing. Back to your point, though. There's a lot of people that were like, will's not the guy.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Not because of literally an inch, I think, is what people were saying.
Connor Rogers
But I think most people with a brain, like, knew that wasn't a real thing. And to your point, like, you know, I appreciate it. He's the Taylor Lawan of this variable team. When it comes to comparisons, we don't really do, like, any Titans players in New England because they've sucked forever. He's more of, like, the wit of New England. Okay.
Pat McAfee
But he got real.
Whitney Mercilus
You ever seen fits in a Tennessee Titans jersey?
Connor Rogers
We'll talk about it later. But no, just to wrap up the. Just to wrap the jets real quick. Armin Menu. Like, it's not as if they drafted bad players. Like, Armin Menboo has been arguably the best rookie, you know, offensive lineman, so I don't know what the hell is going on. Their defense shouldn't be this shitty, though.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
The other tough part about the jets is they have to face Drake May twice a year.
Connor Rogers
That's a good point. That's a good point. I agree with you, Fitz. And if we want to really go through it, I wanted to thank you because I personally believe the only reason Drake May is this good is because he spent, you know, a month or two with Josh Allen over the summer and, like, you can say, like, Vrabel and something. I definitely want to talk about Vrabel, but, like, I don't think it's that simple. As McDaniel comes in and her McDaniel comes in and does well. Like, I think it's kind of Josh Allen is the one who birthed this beast, if you will, in New England. And I think you're the one that kind of helped birth that beast above. That's just what I think.
Pat McAfee
He's the grandfather. Exactly.
Connor Rogers
He's the father's father.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Father's father. Yeah.
Connor Rogers
May's father's Josh Allen. And May's father's father's. Right.
Pat McAfee
That's great news. Look what you're doing. He's a great player. Hey, we'll get to Drake, May. Certainly we have to. But we're saying jets and Bengals kind of complete ass, some would say that's what we're saying.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
I think jets less ass currently than the Fang.
Pat McAfee
Yes. I like everything that just happened right there. Let's go number three. A team that is not ass at all. The last play, boys. These guys won their last two games literally on the last play. They have four wins on the season, five weeks. All of them comebacks. This team is always in it. Baker Mayfield's mentality has seemingly oozed and radiated through the entire locker room. Now, granted, they've already had a good, you know, pillar Levante David getting a big time pick shout out to him because first week he dropped a pick that Vita Vella would have caught right behind him. Vita Vea has been burying him ever since then. We learned that on our show when Coach Ba actually talked shit to Lavonte David as well for dropping a pick in week one. Instead, he makes a diving play. Unbelievable. Catch here out of nowhere. How you doing? Keep it moving. And it's not just Baker, obviously. This defense gave up some points to Sam Darn yesterday. This game was bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. But was there any of us that didn't think Baker was going to end up. If this was a shootout, Baker Mayfield's going to be the one that's going to come away. And they certainly did. D. But I love this Buccaneers jib, if you will.
Darius Butler
For sure, it seemed like watching this game, it was whoever had the ball last was going to end up winning. And you create that big turn. That was probably the only bad play Sam Darnold had. Both of these guys would just spin it. But Baker's game, probably the best game I've seen from a quarterback in a long time. Like he was. You could just tell he was just locked in. Emekia Buka, dominant. He continued his dominant year. Jackson Smith and Jigbo on the other side, both of those Ohio State boys showed off, but this game was phenomenal for me before it even started. Honestly, these jerseys, this might be the all time best jersey matchup with Both these teams celebrating 50 years. But, yeah, Baker's been dialed in, especially in the biggest moments when his teams have needed the most.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
And you know, for me, luckily, when I played in Tampa, we didn't do the all Whites like that.
Pat McAfee
That'd have been tough.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
But Bucky Irving's out, right? Mike Evans is out. And I think the thing that's not being talked about enough, Joshua Grizzard's the oc, first time oc, first time play caller in the NFL. What Baker's doing with this offense right now and helping Josh also has been fantastic.
Pat McAfee
It's crazy because that was a story like two weeks ago. Remember two weeks or three weeks ago, it was like, he's got no tackles. This guy's got nobody. Brand new oc and they're just winning now. We just gotten used to it. We're like, yeah, week five, this is what the Bucks do, dude. It's like it's still so early in the year. How much better can they get with. They can still get, I think, a lot better.
Whitney Mercilus
I mean, look at their starting center. Graham Barton's been playing. Tackle Tristan Wurfs just got back a week ago. I mean, you look at it, they've been doing this without their group, and now they're starting to get healthier up front, and Tristan Wurfs and that crew is dominant. So I think they're only going to get more physical and better up front, and I think that means the team's going to be even better.
Pat McAfee
Well, the football gods continue to bless them. You win in games like this. Football gods on your side. Is this team a Destiny Field down there in Tampa Bay? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Is this the Cleveland Browns? Kick this guy out of town. He wasn't played on a scout team punt team in Carolina. They kicked him out of town. Look at how they are. He goes cross country, obviously, with Los Angeles Rams, puts on a show, becomes the guy in Tampa Bay after Tom Brady. Maybe we deserve to give this guy a little bit of love. Is that what's happening right now? The booted out of the Browns building team of destiny, Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers.
Ty Schmidt
I mean, I think you could certainly make that case because everyone who wants to poke holes in the Bucks, Bucks, they just said, well, this isn't sustainable. You can't do this over the course of season. Four out of five weeks is a pretty good sample size. And I feel like anytime after the year when we look at this kind of like a team always one year, like they'll be eight and one in one score games and then the next year, you know. Waterfinds. Exactly. So like as of right now, it's hard to argue like that's just who they're going to be this year. They're gonna, they're gonna perform very well in one score games. And does that give them enough momentum to eventually, you know, go on a Super bowl run? We'll see.
Pat McAfee
Number two storyline congratulations to 1972 dolphins. Yeah, I'll tell you what, McDaniel.
Darius Butler
Oh my gosh, that walk.
Whitney Mercilus
How was that walk, Pat?
Ty Schmidt
That was awesome.
Connor Rogers
Hold on, you gotta kick that left shoe more. Yeah, the left shoe.
Pat McAfee
He got his little. His little off white flopping around as he's walking. So it's part of comeback chaos, obviously. So sad. Caroline pants is not supposed to win this. So sad. Hey, Xavier Lee, get maybe a guy so. Look at this little tag on his left foot, man. Spum duck that thing home. Man.
Connor Rogers
That sucks.
Pat McAfee
He knows. We all know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Connor Rogers
But hey, Von Ron Rico dowdle goes for 200.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Hey.
Ty Schmidt
It was a good run.
Pat McAfee
Everything down there was fun and I think that's what he's.
Darius Butler
What do you mean?
Pat McAfee
You saw it. Glasses off, little thing kicking. He knew.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, he knows.
Pat McAfee
He knows.
Ty Schmidt
That little tag flapping around was the last straw. If Stephen Ross sees that, he's gonna say get this guy the out of here. He's done right now.
Pat McAfee
How about I sent that video to you guys and I just said the little pad. Yeah, yeah. Saddest part of the whole thing that. Yes, it's a bummer bopping around and I didn't notice it till halfway through. It's here too. Bob. Bob, you know, cuz the way he walks. There's a lot of pizzazz for that tag to kind of just bop, bop bop, man. Like we said though, we all said it in football, if you're winning and.
Connor Rogers
All that happens, it's cool and they love it.
Pat McAfee
It's cool. If you don't win, they don't get. Oh, let's talk about you down in the Miami Dolphins, that place. Whenever you were down there, there was a lot of allegations about what was going on down in. Do you think Miami Dolphins can win? Okay, 1972 dolphins obviously go undefeated. We are all adult humans who've been.
Connor Rogers
In locker rooms and in Miami and.
Pat McAfee
To the city of Miami.
Whitney Mercilus
Definitely been in Miami.
Pat McAfee
Is there enough? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's exactly what I'm saying. Do you think they can win in Miami? Do you think you can win in Miami.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
That's a lot going on.
Pat McAfee
There's a lot going on in Miami.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
And I was.
Connor Rogers
It was Covid.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
One of the years was Covid year when I was there. So it wasn't a lot going on. But there are a lot of distractions down there and it is an issue, I think.
Pat McAfee
So legit like Gumpy needs to celebrate these 1972 dolphins because I think it's. I think even as the world continues to grow, it's only getting. Because Miami's getting more and more popular to certain people. Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Larry Zonk ain't coming through that door. It just ain't happening.
Darius Butler
Negative Duggo.
Connor Rogers
They need them.
Pat McAfee
Exactly. Celebrate that. And then the number one story in our first 15 that has now ran about 20 minutes or so. Colts are going to win Super Bowl.
Connor Rogers
Hell yeah.
Darius Butler
Come on now.
Pat McAfee
Now this says the Colts are going to the super bowl. And I appreciate that, but that's a little humility from the graphic maker. The Colts are going to win Super Bowl. Okay. Okay. That. That is the. That is the fight. After watching this team live with these eyes, boys. Okay? These eyes right here. Watching this team live. Last couple years we've had okay teams. Gardner Minshew almost took us to the playoffs, almost won the AFC south in our. In our stadium, literally right in front of us against Houston Texans, Week 16 or whatever it was couple years ago. We always believed Shane Steichen, we always believed that there was a lot of talent on the team. We. There's one position we just couldn't figure out. You know, I'm surprised you didn't play for us, to be honest. I don't know how that happened, how that didn't happen with the run that we were on. Danny Dimes with us is awesome. Jonathan Taylor, I think he only rushed for like 66 yards yesterday. Three touchdowns. He's the best version of himself for sure in this offense. The offensive line, they're finally speaking the same language as quarterback. Remember, there are some stories. Fitz, I'd like to ask you about this as well. That's my dad that Pittman just tapped up in front of this week. Tim obviously in there. Matt Ryan, whenever he got here, allegedly him and the offensive line just couldn't. They weren't seeing saying the same. They were speaking different. That's. Yeah, that's the whole thing. It's hard. That's why we had Matt Ryan come in because we thought he was like super smart football guy. This is what we need because we got enough talent everywhere. We just need A quarterback, and for some reason, they couldn't speak the same language. Danny Dimes has come in here, mastered the offense, understands everything, puts him in the right position, and he's spinning it. I mean, it is when we need it. He's very rarely missing. I think I saw him miss one time yesterday. It was an overthrow, out of bounds. Every other ball that comes out of his hand is, like, catchable. Tyler Warren might be the best football player, period. Just go ahead and put that right there. He's gigantic. He's tough and he's always open, but our defense is legit as well. I had a chance to chit chat with Colts owner, one of the big three, Carly Ursay.
Darius Butler
Nice.
Pat McAfee
How's she doing about her time on the sideline?
Darius Butler
Okay. Journalism.
Pat McAfee
Okay. She came in to see Chuck Corgi got into a big race, which we will certainly cover here in a matter of moments, is when I met my dog. Chuck was in a Corgi race called Stumpy Stampede yesterday. But Carly Ursay came in to see Chuck. You know, she immediately goes, whoa, he's big. And I go, easy.
Ty Schmidt
He's got a big race coming up.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we're just trying to get him to spot.
Connor Rogers
It's shocking, though. We should lay that out. It is shocking when you see a dog that fat with such small legs.
Pat McAfee
He was triple the size of every other competitor in the Stumpy Stampede. But Carly, I said, okay, I have to ask you. Me and Carly don't really. I have not really talked to Carly much. I was on a way out while she was kind of in. We're not same age, Caitlin and I, same age. So we kind of knew same people. So I got a chance to chat with her. Carly, I've never really talked to her. I'm like, hey, what. What are we. What have we got out of this? Do you know the calls? Like, are you at the point where you know the calls. She's like, I kind of know what we're looking for. She's just charting, though. She's charting plays, basically. Charting plays, Charting plays, charting plays just to see what's going on. Trying to learn as much as possible. She said some of the coaches have been a little bit against it because they think that she's like. They think I'm gonna hold it against them or, like, interject or something. Like, she's like, I'm just. Literally just charting plays there. And I was like, well, tell me about the defense. She goes lose defense versus the last defense. We had so many more words, options, choices. So Many more things for our guys to do. It's like, there's a call and then there's like two adjustments on top of it. She's like, that's the biggest takeaway for me is like, lose defense versus the other diva. Is like, there's a lot of options. And then you give these guys more options, they utilize them. She's like, been excited to kind of watch it kind of grow. And then she told me exact words were, we think with the way Geno throws and where it's coming out from, we should be able to get a couple today, is what Carly says.
Darius Butler
Wow, she knows both.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
She's dialed.
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah. She knows her ball. So I said that to the entire suite. I was like, karlie leaves. And I was like, yo, Karlie. Arce just said, the way Geno's throwing it right now, we think that we got the guys that are going to be able to get some hands on some balls. And then we got some picks because we didn't get any last week, or we whatever. She was like, so we need turnovers. We need turnovers. So that first one happens, it's deflection pick. I'm like, I look over at Carla, it's called this thing. So it's like everybody is all in. Literally from the top all the way down to. Everybody is all in for the Colts right now. And we've always had the players, we've always had the building, and now it feels like we finally got the quarterback fits. You're a journeyman kind of your thing. We're seeing this resurgence of guys that kind of have to bounce around a little bit. Danny Dimes is doing it to an entire city right now for us, he's doing it for an entire city right now as we're kind of going, why does that happen? Is it the experiences, teacher stuff? Is it just getting to the right system? What are your thoughts on it?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Yeah, fit and timing are so big in this, and I think even with Mac Jones right now in San Francisco, we had him the other night, it's the same thing. So this is very sustainable for Daniel Jones as well. Steichen's a great play caller. He showed it in Philly. That's why he got the head job here. And he has the weapons on the outside. The thing that I love about him, he's got Pierce, who didn't play yesterday. He's got Pittman, he's got Tyler Warren, all these big dudes. And you see every ball that comes out of his hand. It's drilling Guys in the face mask, which is huge. The thing I want to go back to, though, have you ever been on a headset? It's nasty. I mean, these coaches. I've done it once, and I said, I can't do that again. The shit that they're spewing about the players, I don't know what she's hearing, but I guess they've been winning. So it's all been good, but it can get. Get really negative on that.
Pat McAfee
I used to have a coach who.
Whitney Mercilus
Would say all the time, says, listen, guys, whatever you guys are saying down here about us, we're talking the same about you.
Pat McAfee
Down.
Darius Butler
It's coming up. It's coming down.
Whitney Mercilus
Don't worry about it. But I think to your points about.
Pat McAfee
Going to Super Bowl.
Whitney Mercilus
Who's the defensive coordinator? Lou and Arumo, who beat the Chiefs to go to the Super Bowl? The Cincinnati Bengals is the defensive coordinator, Lou Anaruma.
Pat McAfee
Tell me about Lou. So everything I was just saying there about Carly was saying, you were nodding your head yes. Obviously, you had a lot of time. You know Lou pretty good.
Whitney Mercilus
I. Yeah, we've got to spend some time with him on Thursday nights before games, just being around him, his energy, his passion for the game. And I think just really, he. He's one of these guys that he kind of has chess piece guys that he's like, I need this player to be able to do these things for these specific calls that I want. You look at some of these simulated late pressures he brings. He has a guy type in mind that he needs. And when he puts that together, you look at the investment they did in the secondary. Now he knows, all right, these are the calls that I can call in these kind of situations when I want to play chess with people. And I think you look at it, he has. He's been in that playoff run with the Bing. He's got that experience. So that's the guy you want calling plays when it's playoff time. Baby.
Pat McAfee
Kenny Moore's coming back. I mean, we're not even at full speed on the defense. We got a real defense. Oh, yeah, we got, like, a real defense. Grover Stewart and Buckner down there can fight anybody, layouts a lot. Who gets another pick. Yeah, they got him dropping out. He's finally finding his. There was a guy first time here with this guy. Got the quarterback. Cross is blitzing and getting to the quarterback seemingly every other play. Defense feels like it's potentially championship run, and then the offense is matching it. Oh, yeah, it's a crazy time Right.
Darius Butler
Now for the Colts complimentary football. Only thing I worry about is us losing our kicker. We lost. We lost Spence. We lost Spank. Is it for the year? Is he out for the year? Has been that been confirmed or.
Whitney Mercilus
No, it didn't sound good.
Pat McAfee
I don't want to.
Darius Butler
It didn't look good.
Pat McAfee
I don't want to be the one.
Darius Butler
Okay, well we'll soon.
Pat McAfee
I'll say. No, I'll say because it's going to get out anyways. I think it was. Multiple ligaments were torn.
Darius Butler
Oh, I think that's.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. From my understanding. Just because I. I apologize. Left middle of fourth quarter.
Ty Schmidt
That game is over to be traffic. You're good.
Pat McAfee
Okay. On way out I get asked if I'll go say what's up to him. Obviously in the middle of the moment. He's Indiana kid from Indiana. So like I think he maybe knew of me or my existence. Went in there and talked to him. Spirit seems like he is obviously on the right track, but obviously he's going through a lot of shock there too. This kid has been great for us. He's already hit a game winner. He's got a massive leg. The one where he got hit, he. I mean he is. Especially after the years pass. We've had a couple misses and some big moments. He local kid. He's done. He's 24, so we think he'll be.
Darius Butler
Bounced back for sure.
Pat McAfee
But that's going to suck. And I told him like I didn't want to be the bear of bad news. I'm like, yo, what you're about to go through is about to suck. Like you need to know that. But on the other side, you're going to be mentally tougher and even better and you're younger and you got a special talent. He's a really good. He's a good kicker. We've been lucky to have him here and he loves the Colts so it's like we like those people around the.
Connor Rogers
Building and a ton of faith in the training staff. Like Rego just tore his Achilles Phillies, you know, and he. And he's back punting. Football is better than Dan or anyone when he does.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we do like the training staff. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Great.
Connor Rogers
Like frog, like, you know, it's good.
Darius Butler
So that'll be the only thing that I'll be worried about because this has kind of been the year of the kicker. Whether it's been hitting bombs or kicks, getting blocked, it's been a storyline. So I think it'll continue to be a storyline. But the other Things the defensive pieces, I feel like with Lou they'll only continue to get better and more dynamic. You see a lot of free hitters. Black stepped in, he got a big pick yesterday. So I love what Lou and then what Danny Dimes has been doing in his offense. Like it's one thing to kind of get early in the year. You can catch defense off guard, maybe some gimmick shit, but they're doing like real like this is a high level, high operating offense. You don't know where 84 Warren's going to be. He could be a fullback. He could be split out wide. He could be in the, in the corner formation. He's a weapon, kind of like Gronk, always open regardless of a guy's on him or not. He's so big. Pittman, you talked about his big body, the mismatch that Josh Downs can give you in the slot. And then Jonathan Taylor playing at an MVP level right now. So we got all the pieces from top down right now we can go on a real, real run, especially with a division that you know, looks like you should. We should be in the driver's seat the whole way.
Pat McAfee
AMC south is real jogger and all that. Don't you ever get twisted?
Darius Butler
They got a big win.
Pat McAfee
Two things we didn't hit there in the top five, you think? Two quick things.
Darius Butler
Two quick things. Let's go. Dead Dak had a big, big day with down a bunch of old linemen down his top receivers. CD Lamb Turpin was actually out as well. But he had a huge kind of MVP caliber day. He's been another quarterback coming off a year where he was hurt. He's playing top, top notch football. He didn't know what to really expect coming into this game with all those pieces being down. But he raised his level shout out to Shotty calling the plays, putting him in good situations. And then a great, great kind of feel good story. David Montgomery, Monty going back home having a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in front of his sister Kiki who got in a terrible car accident. So she actually been paralyzed a little bit over a year ago. So this is the first game she got to watch him play live since that terrible accident. So it awesome. We talked about obviously his game and it's the 14th game where he and Gibbs have scored a touchdown in the same game, which is the NFL record, which is insane.
Pat McAfee
You remember whenever Foxy was saying they weren't calling him Sonic Knuckles in anymore.
Darius Butler
What was it?
Pat McAfee
Other what was it? What were they calling them? They were Calling them ass and cheeks. And I didn't like it one bit. The Internet is a cruel place. All right.
Connor Rogers
That's messed up.
Pat McAfee
I didn't like that at all. That seems like a long time ago now, though. That was a bad week one for the Detroit line. As bad as it gets. I'll tell you what, we were at a much different place now than we were in week one there for the Detroit Lions. I see you in the Super Bowl, Pat. Colts, Lions. I don't know if McD wants that right now. Okay. I don't know if you want that. Right. He'll fight. All right. Your guys. Yeah, but what's he gonna do to Carly? Exactly. We win.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, but unfortunately, then Bennett Sheila Ford Hamp walks out.
Ty Schmidt
Yes, you're right.
Pat McAfee
She doesn't want that glass to break, brother. Because then Kaylin and Casey are. Yeah.
Connor Rogers
So three on one.
Pat McAfee
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a man who might pick up where we left off if there was any crumbs to a story that maybe we didn't dabble upon. He will certainly keep us in line and also maybe tell us some that we refuse to cover because of our ignorance. Ladies and gentlemen, senior NFL Insider for espn, a Michigan man, Adam Schefter. Whoa. Shirt and tie. Whoa. Professional. That looks good.
Adam Schefter
I was dressing up for. For Fitzy and Big Wit.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Oh, thanks, Jeffrey.
Connor Rogers
All right, chef.
Pat McAfee
Hey, Shefty. They're on a. A road trip across the country in the back of a very nice bus. I believe this morning was the first time Fitch chose to shower on it, if I'm reading.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Yeah, you said it was going to be nice in there, though. It was really nice. Hot water, good air or good water pressure.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, see, it's not bad.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Not bad.
Pat McAfee
I love the bus life.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
He doesn't travel with shampoo and conditioner, so I didn't get the shampooing condition.
Pat McAfee
Oh, we got some for you here. We'll certainly give it to you now. To be clear, we didn't buy it. People have sent us that in the past. Sure. We do not know if it's going to work or not, but we assume that it's okay. Probably some starter company. Yeah, call it like mop head or something.
Ty Schmidt
It'll work.
Pat McAfee
Harvard. You get it? Some kid created this in his garage. Good to see you guys. Shefter, what did we miss in there? I know you were sitting around listening to a lot of what we were chatting about. The Colts going to the Super Bowl. The 1972 Dolphins undefeated streak continues. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Outrageous in what they're doing. Jets and Bengals not complete ass is what the jets and Bengals. Half ass, half ass, half ass is what they say and then come back chaos yesterday. If you want to hit any of those or, or anything we left out, we'd love to hear it. Shefty.
Adam Schefter
Well, I don't have much hit on the Denver Broncos, a team that going into yesterday had a record of 1 and 112 going into the fourth quarter when they were down by 14 or more points, and yesterday pulled out their second win in 114 games when they were in that spot. Now, I covered John Elway for a lot of years. There weren't many more players that were clutch than John Elway, and even he didn't do that when they were down 14 on the road in the fourth quarter. And yet Sean Payton has now done this twice the last few years. He did it yesterday in Philadelphia in the Eagles Stadium on the road against the defending champs. It's pretty impressive. And on that two point conversion at the end, they didn't even hesitate. They got right into that two point conversion. And there aren't a lot of head coaches across the league who would call for two points on this particular play right here. Down 17, 16 and go for the lead at halfway through the fourth quarter. That was, that was pretty bold to Sean Payton, but that's how confident he was that they would make it. And the Broncos pulled through and they left after the game to go to London. They play the jets there on Sunday, so a big matchup for them.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. The Broncos coming into the season were obviously a lot of people, super bowl darlings. They played an incredible Indianapolis Colts team, you know, and I think a lot of people maybe weren't giving the Colts a lot of credit at the time. So I think maybe the Broncos are maybe judged in a certain way that they might not be judged the same exact way today if it was to happen. But they get a huge win and Obviously that's the 1972 dolphins get a chance to celebrate, especially after the Bills lose last night. Any storylines out of New England in the Buffalo Bills last night, obviously Stefan Diggs said it was very personal. He goes off for the second straight game over 100 yards. First time wide receivers done that since, I don't know, 2019. Julian Edelman, I think is what the stat was or whatever. So he's got going crazy Vrabel in the Patriots. Everything's clicking. All, all systems go out of there.
Adam Schefter
It appears that was a big statement that they made there going To Buffalo. If you could win in Buffalo on a Sunday night, then where can't this team win? And again, the Patriots still have some good for stadiums. They'll get better. But Drake may look the part. He made a couple of plays that not a lot of quarterbacks can make. Ray Bull has helped turn around the culture. There's still things that they have to do and will do better. But that was a big time statement. Like Drake May on the national stage. They hadn't played in prime time, hadn't been in that spot and it got down late in the game. And Drake May was making plays to Stefan Diggs like you mentioned, over 100 for the second straight game. Got a game ball after the game. Big victory for the Patriots and that was a statement that they're. They're in the hunt for a playoff spot. That throw right there like he's got a guy draped on him. He's got another guy coming at him straight ahead and he still to not only get rid of the ball, but get rid of the ball on target for a 12 yard. That was incredible play by Drake May.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it certainly was. And Amazon's coming everywhere. We know that. We heard that last night. All over the place. Yeah, all over the place. Wade has a question for you. Shefty.
Darius Butler
Shefty.
Whitney Mercilus
I'm concerned. My Rams lost in overtime last Thursday, so I'm a little worried about next week. Talking me, Lamar Jackson, is he playing next Sunday against the Rams?
Adam Schefter
Well, you know the great part about that for the Rams and you'll know this better than anyone big with there's no way they're going to play a game like that two games in a row. And Baltimore seems to be missing half its roster now with the way it sets up. The Ravens have a bye week after that. So if they wrestle Amar next week, if he's not ready, they get him two weeks to get ready. And I almost feel like that team has to view themselves making a push after their bye because they're missing so many key players on both sides of the football right now. My guess is they won't get Lamar on Sunday, but obviously the team will see how he's doing this week. Lamar wanted to try to play last week. He's going to want to try to play this week. If he can play, he'll certainly be out there. But he couldn't walk out of the locker room. He was limping around last week. He didn't practice at all this past week. Ruled out on Friday. And they have the buy on the week After. So my guess and to guess right now, early week, is that he won't wind up playing, but we'll see how the week unfolds.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Shefty. Do you have any experience with hamstring injuries? Just in your athletic career, Fish?
Adam Schefter
I've had a lot of injuries.
Connor Rogers
You had an Achilles.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
I know that.
Darius Butler
Right?
Adam Schefter
I've had a lot of things. I've had. Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
I've got broken thumbs.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
I've never pulled my hamstring.
Pat McAfee
You've never pulled your hamstring?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Not fast enough, no.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it takes a real explosion to be able to do that. What's the worst injury you had? I. That we've seen you bleed, Obviously.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Broken tibia was probably the worst.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, that's the tough. That's the KN Vers, the Colts.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Actually, it was. Actually, it was probably you kicking onside kicks in that game. It probably led to my broken tibia.
Pat McAfee
Okay, where's this at? Here or in Nashville? Here. When I hit the one to the right. Sure.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
I think you hit two in the game.
Ty Schmidt
No, you goddamn right.
Connor Rogers
Oh, come back.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Have it.
A.J. Hawk
Have.
Pat McAfee
See, you're okay. Let's talk about some people who might not be okay. Go ahead, Ty.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, Chef. This kind of got put on the back burner after they had the big win on Thursday night, but Mike McDaniel yesterday, just not good. Blowing a 17 point lead and then walking through the tunnel looking like a fifth grader who just got his ass beaten, his lunch money stolen. Is. Is this going to happen? Is. I mean, are we going to draw this out and we don't really have anything to worry about, or is Mike McDaniel going to be getting at here fairly soon?
Adam Schefter
Look, I think everybody's smart enough to figure out who's in trouble and who's not, and when things actually happen are entirely up to ownership of these teams. But none of these teams are any. In any rush right now to make that move. Like, as much as people are going to talk about it, there's still a lot of time to go in the season. What do you want them to do? Who's going to take over if somebody gets fired in a particular city? These are all the decisions you have to make. But the Dolphins, obviously, but a disappointing season so far. Everybody. Everybody knows that you have to win to avoid facing some of these questions, but I don't get the sense that it's anytime soon. Could that change? Of course. Of course they lost to Carolina yesterday, but the ownership has wanted to be patient with them. That I can tell you.
Pat McAfee
Good luck. McDaniel, we're pulling for you. Go get a bite tonight. Go pulling for you, man. That was a sad image. Came in the class, just the whole thing. Because he's feels like he's. When people are around him, they enjoy their time. Like I think he is a. A good vibes human. This is like Salah at the jets and then we see him at the Niner going absolutely crazy. It's like he lost his joy when he was with the jets, clearly. And now it's like McDaniel, this guy lost everything but shoes. Still got the shoes, still got the joggers, still got the cool.
Connor Rogers
Looks good.
Pat McAfee
Still's got the glasses that change when you're outside. What are those?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, transition. Transition lenses.
Pat McAfee
Transition lenses, which I think more people should do. I think they do look pretty cool, especially with the styles that they have these days. But boy, they got to win because there's people like Gumpy in the back that are going, how long are we waiting here, pal? What are we. We're year five now, Gumpy. Is that what you're thinking back there as Dolphins fan, whenever they get a lead, he doesn't know how to call the game.
Ty Schmidt
It's insane.
Pat McAfee
They went up 17 nothing. They were cooking.
AP Tone
Waller's got 5 for 78 with a touch.
Pat McAfee
God. Don't target him the entire second half.
Ty Schmidt
Are you me?
Pat McAfee
They got the beam on him. He did the best player we saw. He's wide open every time. You're saying he's not the one.
Ty Schmidt
He's not.
Pat McAfee
He is the one. We won't give him the ball. It's because they got the whole theme on him.
Darius Butler
Yeah, Mike dialed up some stuff, too. Got to make the throws, too. You got to make the throws or Mike. And give up 250. They got dabbled 250 yards from the damn ground. You got. They did get through, but moving on.
Pat McAfee
They got the R on them. That's awesome.
Darius Butler
We got a big court. So the boys in here, got to give them credit. They had the Joe DiNardo. They saw it well before we did. Chefy, because me and you kind of dismissed this might be a quarterback conversation in San Francisco now, but before we get into it, how's Brock's health right now? How healthy is he? Will he. When will he be back in the lineup? And Mac Jones. Is there going to be a conversation. I know Mac Jones saying all the right thing, but is there going to be a conversation with how well he's been playing personally?
Adam Schefter
He's been unbelievable. And I think People were surprised at how well he's played, but the environment has elevated his performance. And there aren't a lot of people who would have thought on Thursday Night Football in front of Big Wit and, and Fitzy there that Mac Jones would have led that team to the victory that he did. But they, they've, they've rebuilt him, they've reprogrammed him and he's playing the way that they thought he would when he left Alabama and they considered taking him like they, they initially traded up with the idea that they were going to pick him and fell in love with Trey Lance along the process. Now Mac is back there playing exceptionally well. No, I still think it is absolutely Brock Purdy's job. I don't even think it's a question. Mac Jones did say the right things because I think that's the real situation right now where he's going to be in a situation where he's called upon when Brock's not playing and he'll step in and play the way he did. It was fantastic. And he's got a two year contract, you know, so he's going to be there for a couple of years unless all of a sudden he's got value. But Brock Purdy, they just paid and he's going to be the guy. Pat, also, I have to, I have to give you props.
Pat McAfee
Thank you.
Adam Schefter
Spencer Schrader. You're correct. Both nothing.
Darius Butler
You beat him.
Adam Schefter
He's been unbelievable this year. Great kicker. My fancy kicker out for the year with the knee injury.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, that is, I, I heard it's real. Very. I mean the thing, he looked terrible when I saw him. And also everybody kneeling.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Around him, that was very scary. But the I, the brace he had on when I went to see him was groin to ankle triple, you know, and I'm like, damn. And I will say his mindset good in the moment. Total shock, obviously, everything happening. He's been great for us.
Darius Butler
Great.
Pat McAfee
Gonna have to have a good kicker if you want to go on a run. Hopefully we'll find somebody. And then when spank when you're back, bud. We can't wait to welcome you back. We can't wait to welcome you back. Okay, last question. It's about tonight, obviously. Monday Night Football. And I believe there's a Manning must watch ride along. Who cares.
Darius Butler
Shefty.
Pat McAfee
These are good. The man and cast are good. We get good clips out of these things. Let's make sure. Exactly. Yeah. Okay. There's good clips coming out of ESPN too.
Connor Rogers
See on X, not going on My TV chefy, if you need a kicker.
Darius Butler
Go ahead and grab. Go ahead and grab.
Connor Rogers
Bora Gallus. He had a kick yesterday that would have been good from 80, but looking.
Adam Schefter
At tonight, that was a booming kick, right? That was huge.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I love him.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Great.
Connor Rogers
Looking at tonight though, what do you think about this game setting up the Jags defense has been figuring it out and now the Casey offense has been figuring it out. Is this going to be kind of like a gritty, you know, run and gun type game or the. Are the Jags going to force him to run the football? Are the Chiefs going to force Trevor to throw the ball because kind of has a noodle arm but ETN's running well. Hopefully we get a heavy dose of Travis Hunter. What are your expectations and who. Who's missing on both sides tonight? Are there any big injuries that we should know?
Adam Schefter
Well, the Chief said a Xavier worthy to their injury report when they landed after flying to Jacksonville because his ankle swelled up on the plane and they just put him on there, I think as a precaution just to make sure because you never know. But the sense is that he should be ready for tonight unless that ankle continues to go the opposite way, which we'll hear that soon enough. But I would expect that he does wind up playing tonight and I also think weather might figure it there. Like you're in Florida this time of the year. Storms, thunderstorms, rain, showers, some of that's in the forecast. Don't know if it'll hit at various points during the game, but that always could be a factor. There were some calls for some lightning. Hopefully that stays away and does not impact tonight. But yeah, these are. This is a game where I think we've seen some teams make some serious statements this weekend. So some upstart teams make some statements and you just wonder if Jacksonville, which has been playing great football, hasn't played a big game in primetime like this with a winning record in this kind of spot. Feels like New England last night. It feels like Denver feels like. It feels like some of these teams, they get a chance to make a statement by playing with a team that's one of the top franchises in sports.
Pat McAfee
Thanks for not putting the Colts and Tire in there. I was about to really have a moment there winning his decade in NFL history. You've been back in time. On that note. Shaw Khan tonight. Let's expect the best. Need one this Monday Night Football for the cheat it. Yes. And also this thing will be.
Connor Rogers
It'll be strength, clean strength, first strength.
Darius Butler
Tonight Chiefs only have one turnover. I think they've only given the ball away once. Jaguars lead the league right now and turnover 13. So we'll see how that goes tonight.
Pat McAfee
Ball scurry, job security.
Darius Butler
Absolutely.
Pat McAfee
The ball is the pro.
Darius Butler
That's the program.
Pat McAfee
Let's just see how it is. We appreciate you joining the program. You're the man. Will we see you tonight? A lot of this. It looks like you're ready to go.
Adam Schefter
I'm just. I wanted to get ready for game time, you know, Never too early to get ready for kickoff. Monday night countdown. We're all ready.
Pat McAfee
You know what they say, the true suits sleeping them, so maybe you should start doing that. Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Schefter. Appreciate you, Shafty. You know, as the hour wraps up, I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about my day yesterday. Yeah, sure. Ladies and gentlemen, I was part of something very special. Not only, you know, by myself and getting just to experience it alongside my wife. And he's considered my dog as well, but certainly my wife's dog. We were invited to be a part of the Stumpy Stampede.
Connor Rogers
Sure.
Pat McAfee
Which is a corgi race that happens during TV timeouts. And I was. I was pretty against it. I didn't know if my guy would be able to survive it just in general running that far. And it turns out we didn't even to find out. It was a great day yesterday. Me, my beautiful wife Samantha, and our dog Chuck was by far the fattest corgi in the entire race. There was two heats, and our dog Chuck was barely able to survive just getting to the spot. We had to go two yards ahead of everybody else because I couldn't get him back onto the spot. I was trying to point out his mom. Go get your mom, the one that you like. And he had. Are you. Are you. Where are you? Who's. Who's come? Are you coming? I'm not going. And he turns around, he says, I'm not doing this. I'm not your puppet out here amongst all these other corgis. I'm heading back this way. And I said, chuck, this is a moment I've been dreaming of with one of my boys. I remember this moment in real time. A father taking care of his son and making sure he finished the race. Chuck had to battle through adversity, including his own weight and a lot of different problems, I assume, going on with his joints. His mom met us at the finish line and the cameraman tried to kill him. But Chuck finished, and Chuck did his race. And Kaylin Ursay, one of the owners of the Indianapolis Colts was there to grab freedom. And people clapped for the Fatso said we didn't think a dog could finish that type of race. So we appreciate that moment.
Ty Schmidt
Well done, Chuck.
Darius Butler
Good job, Chuck.
Pat McAfee
Thank you for the invite. Stumpy Stampede. They. They do that race. 16 teams use that particular setup for their Corgi races during TV timeouts. It was an honor to be a part of. All the other dogs had done a walkthrough or a smaller race to get to said race. Chuck was the only one out there without a collar on. And also a Halloween costume couldn't. None of the Halloween costumes will fit. We actually had to surgically remove one of the outfits from Chuck because he was just too big. Corgi race, though. Good pop in the stadium.
Connor Rogers
Good pop.
Pat McAfee
Which immediately led to Fitz and Whitney. Boys are coming by. What are some of the best TV timeout in stadium shows that takes place. And we came up with a pretty good Corgi race. Was good. I think this is very new. I think it's very new. The field goal or throwing challenge. You guys brought that up. I don't think I've seen the throwing challenge, but I have seen like the Dr. Pepper.
Whitney Mercilus
Pepper Circle.
Pat McAfee
You try to throw it in there. You talk about that. Okay. The Colts have one too where they're throwing in trash cans. You remember that there was like a trash can throw. It was a little the helmet shuffle. I think in football stadiums. Okay. Nobody will ever compare to Red Panda. But the helmet shuffle in stadiums. Always captivating. Always a little bit of a degree of difficulty. So people feel like they're super geniuses. And I would like to humble brag throughout my playing career. Punter not paying attention to much. And also fan thing. I've never got this wrong.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Never.
Pat McAfee
Not once I lock in, bro.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I'm captivated by. They got a new one where it shakes the. And even have it leave the.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And then they come back on. I'm like, you're not gonna give me. And now the reason why I think it's a good one no matter what stadium you're in. Loud two from everybody whenever it happens. I agree. You guys played actual positions. Did you watch? No. Were you able to do the helmet shuffle or were you guys working? No.
Whitney Mercilus
Helmet shuffle.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
You never watched the helmet shuffle?
Pat McAfee
I always watched.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Couple the Kiss Cam too.
Pat McAfee
I always love the Kiss concerts. Concerts.
Whitney Mercilus
It doesn't go as well. Kiss Cam not as good at concerts.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
No. No.
Pat McAfee
Wow.
Connor Rogers
Depends where you are well, and who's where.
Pat McAfee
You know there's other potential significant others that stay with other people.
Ty Schmidt
Same one.
Pat McAfee
Coldplay. Really brings everybody together. The mascot football slash races. Peewee football always good. The military hometown hero coming back.
Connor Rogers
That one gets you that one.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
That one off the bench clap.
Pat McAfee
Got a chance to be a part of one. It was insane. Wish for our heroes here in Indianapolis. We were able to set this up. I, I because when I'm warming up on the field is during all these TV timeouts and I'm trying to do this entire thing and trying to warm up. I'm crying my eyes out in the middle of all these games. The military reaction, surprise. I'm home six months. I think this guy was six months early. Okay. So they weren't even, man, it wasn't even a thought. I think they thought maybe getting a call car, my car comes out because I think they had some breakdown. But for dad to come back home like six months early. Always waterworks every stadium that had happened.
Darius Butler
Always. Anytime you see it, especially when it has the music obviously in games is huge. But like kid in the classroom, like all the different type of day. Yeah. This is all it always hits.
Pat McAfee
T shirt toss cannon.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
We got to do that.
Pat McAfee
Shoot hot dogs at the fans. We have the video of that. I think it's like 30, 30 seconds in. He had Cannon and then shot that thing out there. That's been a part of this bus ride.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
The guy, the guy told us, he said let me crank up the psi. You can shoot it over the stadium. I said no, you can't. He's doing the tape around it. Put extra tape all over PSI up. That thing went out of Memorial Stadium.
Pat McAfee
Over the top. Over the top. What insane is that do we have?
Whitney Mercilus
That's what we're celebrating.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
That's the reaction. They probably did camera of it.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we need camera on that. That's a good looking dog Cannon. That's a good dog gun there. Trivia on the big screen. Always good. Depending upon if the crowd's drunk or not. And then the hot dog cannon there to wrap it up. The in stadium entertainment can be good. There's some shite ones.
Ty Schmidt
Oh yeah.
Pat McAfee
There's some really bad ones. You can't depend on people talking.
Ty Schmidt
No.
Pat McAfee
Like if, if people are just at the game.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Have you seen the hardwood Classics? Golden State warriors dance team 55 and up. They're incredible.
Pat McAfee
Really?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
I think there's a 79 year old on the squad. They're incredible.
Pat McAfee
Wow. You're saying like because if we go in the NBA world, Quick change, I think, rest in peace, quick change. Used to change addresses because they obviously have it. We saw a BMX one that was kind of okay.
Ty Schmidt
That was bad. Oh, it was at the NBA final.
Pat McAfee
Hey, before we wrap up, Red Panda is the goat. As are you. Thank you guys for joining us. You've been holding something.
Whitney Mercilus
I got a little something for you.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
Whitney Mercilus
If you watched the Bills game last night, Josh Allen sells the ball out over in the stands, Guy catches it rocking the Milano jersey, tucks it and just takes off out of the stadium. I think Tarico did a great job describing it. Well, that was Fitz and I on our journey. We stopped by 1587 prime. Our boys, Pat and Trav went to the restaurant and we thought, you know what, what could we get Pat and the boys to just, you know, commemorate our trip? So we stole one of their dishes.
Pat McAfee
Yes.
Whitney Mercilus
We stuffed it in the hoodie and we took it with us.
Pat McAfee
Pat, thank you so much. Ladies and gentlemen. Fits and wait, obviously. Thursday night Football.
Darius Butler

Adam Schefter
If I can't play as Russ, I'll.
Pat McAfee
Play as someone else. My name's Chad and last name Lieutenant. From executive producers Eli and Peyton Manning. Remember, if you're wearing a prosthetic mask. This is acting and starring Glen Powell. He thinks you're a rubber chew toy. Not rubber. I'm a man made of flesh. The Hulu Original Series Chad Powers is now streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney plus for bundle subscribers terms apply. New episodes Tuesdays Football is awesome. We're incredibly lucky that two football guys, Andrew Whitworth and Ryan Fitzpatrick, who are on a bus journey from last week's Thursday night football game on Amazon prime on Thursday night to this upcoming week's Thursday night football game on prime in New York from LA to MetLife and they stopped by and they brought a plate from 1587 Prime Steakhouse, which is Patrick and Travis Kelce's here. Now maybe in the next album there's actually going to be a reference to one of these plates. Ooh, like there was a reference to one of the owners. Here's one of his trees. Yeah. Is red white as a. I think that's cuz he's a member of Chiefs I think.
Connor Rogers
Oh sure.
Pat McAfee
So canceled continues to be a banger by the way.
Connor Rogers
Yes.
Pat McAfee
A couple other songs but we appreciate Wit and Fitz for stopping by. And what a great first hour. The toxic tables here at Boston, Connor at Ty Schmidt. One half of the Hammer done Cowboys ap. Tone joins us. Tone, what is the gambling story coming out of week five that we weren't able to maybe talk about in the first hour?
AP Tone
Okay, some good news kind of for the first time we've been talking about, you know, how the top five against the spread teams for the public have gone. It's been 1 in 4 or 0 and 5 basically every week. They were 3 and 2 this week.
Pat McAfee
Let's go. We're getting smarter than these sports books. We need this.
AP Tone
So I went, so I went through.
Pat McAfee
And I looked and I was like.
AP Tone
Like oh, I wonder if that continued down the line. I I looked at every single team that was over 50% of the public bets. They went 6 and 7. So a little bit under but that that's okay. So you know we're still down but making progress.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we're close. Well, nine year NFL vet Darius J. But a baby D. Good to see you. I don't know how your picks went because you're not with us on Friday. I know there's sometimes where you make the picks in the YouTube chat with Shout outs in chat. Shout out to the chat. Shout out to the chat.
Darius Butler
Shout out to the chat.
Pat McAfee
You said you got discouraged.
Darius Butler
Got discouraged did it first week and I was like ah this yeah.
Pat McAfee
Once people Start tracking what you're doing. Yeah, it gets loud. Yeah. Got somebody doing it. For our college game day picks and for this. I thought I maybe got out of the picks game, but it feels like we're right back in it with people keeping track. The man joining me right now had a pretty good weekend of predictions. Victim bull, ladies and gentlemen. He's a college football national champion, super bowl champion Ryder cup winner. Ladies and gentlemen, A.J. hawk. Yeah, hope you had an incredible weekend. Don't know if you know this or not, which you certainly don't. You want 10 and three, brother. Wow. Wow.
A.J. Hawk
Okay. That cardinals one, I knew I, I, the only pick I remember was the Cardinals one. I knew that whole debacle just screwed me on that pick. So, you know, I guess chalk it up to just a bizarre situation.
Pat McAfee
I picked the jets, brother, so I mean you could certainly, you could talk about a lot of, of bizarre situations. That was an absolute blowout and they have been crumbled. 10 and 3 is certainly nothing to sneeze at. AJ and maybe it's because it was such an interesting slate with so many weird ones. We all just went with whoever we feel better about at the time and those seemingly covered for us. So we're thankful for that. Tonight we have a great Chiefs. Jaguars battle Chiefs favored by 3 1/2 on the road. Is this because they don't have any respect for Jacksonville because it's Jacksonville Jaguars or why do you think this number is 3 1/2? AP tone?
AP Tone
I just, no, I just think they think the Chiefs is the better team. The Chiefs is the Chiefs. The Jags have had a great start to this year, but the Chiefs have looked really good as of late and they're the more proven team. Also the public, they know that the public is going to hammer the Chiefs, so that's also built into this as well.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so let's talk about this game. AJ what's your initial lean, initial reaction? Feels like if the Chiefs are still the Chiefs. We saw that just last last week where they won absolute ham. Will tonight be their first prime time explosion performance in some time in the regular season?
A.J. Hawk
Well, it sure would not hurt for the Chiefs to, to show us that they, they are the Chiefs that we know. You know, they have been over the last few years. But Jacksonville, for them, I think this is a giant opportunity. Your, your dog's at home so you can already have that chip on your shoulder. If you find a way to win this game in Jacksonville and win like in an impressive fashion like this, I think it can springboard you into the future. And we'll see more and more, you know, probably locker room speeches from the owner. So it'll be great for everyone.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Forever. We're. We're all hoping for. Because they were having these conversations.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. Back in January. It happened in September. Now we need it to happen in October. When it does, it's going to last forever.
Pat McAfee
We need that.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. Like, I need air to breathe.
Pat McAfee
If anything, we need Stoner and Liam Cohen to get it figured out down there strictly so we can see more. Shad Khan. Yeah. Talking about a guy who has wanted his team to be successful for a long time. Hey. Spent a lot of money and, you know, I think investments in trying to make it was willing to rebuild an entire city for this team to be good. Yeah. Urban Meyer. You're going to save the whole place, right? What do you need? Any Jacksonville town. You need Jaguars place. I'll build that. No problem. They put out graphics, 3D graphics of what it was going to look like down there. Say hello to the next iteration of the Jacksonville Jackson. You guys haven't won it forever, except for against the Colts. Whenever they come down there, for some reason, you guys only win one game a year, and it's against Colts at home. And it's a heartbreaker for everybody every time it happens. But against everybody else, you guys think your own fans dress up like clowns. And Sean Conn's like, yeah, but if I spend enough, if I spend enough, it'll be good. And honestly, I appreciate an owner that's like that. And now it seems like there's a chance for them to be actually good. Now. It's very early in the year. Year. Liam Cohen, obviously very new to being a head coach Stoner, very new to running the team. But it's like, if the Jags are for real, that would be a surprise. And tonight could certainly be a night to say hello to the world. A.J. hawk. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
I think for them to. To take that next step, they need to prove to people that they are that. That, you know, they. They're not the Jags that we think they are, and they're not going to be able to win these big games. But to Shad Khan, like, I do respect the fact that he's trying to win. Like, we know there's definitely owners around the league that are just trying to make money and trying to continue to make money and, you know, stay positive and all. That Shot Khan feels like, all right, yeah, like, money's cool. Like, I got money. I need to Find a way to win. I want to brag about my team and, you know, maybe we're seeing that this year. Maybe this is the beginning of something.
Pat McAfee
Great for Jacksonville D. But Xavier Worthy gets hurt on a plane. What happened there? They said he got off the plane, had a swollen ankle. Obviously everybody was excited for him to return. Another great piece for that offense. What does that normally mean? Had an injury go off of the flight, Flight and the pressure and altitude just kind of cooked it a little bit. What do you think?
Darius Butler
Hopefully it's just them covering their bases just in case they do have to rule him out late in the game. You can't come back and say, oh, well, he wasn't on injury report. This wasn't there. So they're reporting it and hopefully we get him there because this team, I feel like just preparing for him and playing against. They're completely different when number one is on the field. You saw that last week. They all of a sudden get explosive. They get speed with Thornton, with him, with the other guys out there running around. And once again, like I said earlier, the Chiefs don't turn the ball over. So when you don't beat yourself, that's a big deal. And on the flip side, the Jacksonville defense is kind of middle of the pack, except when it gets to turnovers. They do create turnovers. Being at the top of the league, a lot of speed out there on both sides of the field. Travis Etienne, he's having an unbelievable year. Brian Thomas Jr. If he can get going, he's a big speed guy. And then. Is this the first time we see Travis Hunter on prime time?
Connor Rogers
Yes.
Darius Butler
How he is deployed on both sides of the, you know, team.
Connor Rogers
My bad, my bad. Sorry about that. But, like, at what point are they going to just finally say, like, hey, we're done with this shit. Go play wide receiver. You and Brian Thomas right now would be absurd together. Like, is this kind of where they start now that September's over? You know, are they going to kind of maybe start curtailing some plays towards them? Are they maybe going to, you know, choose a little bit on what he can play? Because it just feels like think it's never going to be possible, no matter what, to play both sides at the highest possible level?
Darius Butler
I agree with you. I. I don't see it being possible. He had.
Pat McAfee
What made you think that? Okay, so let's take it. Because whenever we were coming into the league, coming into the season, and once again, my name's on the show and it's only from my perspective, so I'm going to say this, but there's only been one guy that they let kick and punt, and he was at Atlanta and he did not do well. He won like 2 for like 10 on field goal goals. And then he went back to being a punter. And he was a great punter and obviously a great field goal kicker as well. They even gave him the opportunity when I was coming out of college. They're like, what do you think you are? I was like, I think I'm both. Like, well, nobody is both. I was actually told, you should never punt a football again. Because I was in the Senior bowl for as a kicker. And the Senior bowl obviously back then at least had a percentage of hit rate that like, the NFL guys want. So I was actually told, you should never punt a ball again. You should just focus on kicking. You can't do both. Now, granted, I did do that. I stopped punting. And then I get drafted to be a punter. Then the day after the draft, it's like, well, I guess we gotta make up for some lost time here. At least three months of potentially learning how to do this, because I focus on one thing, but the conversation around kicking and punting is, like, way too much time. It's hard to become an expert on either thing when there's only 32 jobs. And how are you going to manage your energy, how are you going to manage your reps, how you can do all that? So whenever we saw what Travis Hunter was doing at Colorado with Coach prime, and he's like, managing this day while we're managing here, what we're managing here, I wondered, longer season, higher level of competition and peers, you know, because if I was going to kick and punt, I had to be better than every kicker that they brought in and I had to be better than every punter that you brought in. So in this particular case, he has to be one of the top three wide receivers on the team. And he also has to be, what, one of the top three corners on the team, Let alone competing against the other team. You got to compete against your own fucking team. I think because of what they did, trading up to let them, they're going to give him every opportunity to do that. Or do you think there is, like, kind of a realization about, like, this might legitimately not be possible, which is why it's never really been possible.
Darius Butler
I don't think they're necessarily in a rush because of where they are right now, sitting at 3 and 1. If they can get a win tonight, they'll still Be tired up there with the Colts for first place. But yeah, it's just so tough. Even when I think about guys who play the same position. Like you think about Darrell Reavis and then Richard Sherman, like they were completely different corners. Like Darrell Revis wouldn't be Revis if he tried to play like Sherman and vice versa. So it's like even playing the same position, it's just so difficult and so different. And then like you mentioned, week in and week out, teams are game playing. Okay, what is Travis Hunter good at coverage wise? What is he good at as a receiver? So for him to balance that, it'll be so tough physically. I think a lot of guys could have lined up and played wide receiver and cornerback, but just the mental aspect of, of it, game in and game out. And then you talk.
Pat McAfee
He does have high football iq.
Darius Butler
Very high. You, you talked about, you know, having to be better than every kicker or punter that they brought in. It's the same thing with him. Especially when you drafted number two overall. Like you want to, you want to see that impact on whichever side of the ball it is. If it's, hey, you're just going to be a lockdown corner, maybe we sprinkle a little bit wide receiver or vice versa. So it's so tough. Could he be the first like we see with Shohei Otani or, you know, the second with Babe? But could he do it? It's possible. But do you want to sacrifice what you may have to sacrifice on either side of the field to get him to that point, Especially when you're trying to build a contender that's trying to compete year in and year out.
AP Tone
And I think like we talked about it coming into the season, we did had that wide receiver graphic. It was like, which teams have good wide receivers, when is he going to play more snaps or whatever. And I think it truly has been like that. So week one, he only played five snaps on defense. Week two, he played, played 38. Week three, he played 42. And then last week against the Niners, who are all banged up all over the wide receiver position, he only played nine on the defensive side. So you would think probably coming in tonight because the, the especially if Worthy does play, he'll probably get another extended look on defense. But no, he's played about the same amount of snaps each week on offense, but vastly different on defense depending on.
Pat McAfee
Which team they put well.
Ty Schmidt
And like you said, it's funny you bring up Shohei because that was kind of my argument. Is he, he. We just saw it, the other night, night, he, he started the game and he, he was the starting pitcher, but because you have to do both, he struck out four times at the plate. So it's like with Travis Hunter, like, he absolutely could do both. But is he making enough of an impact both ways? That makes people say, like, that's why you, that's why you gave all that up to trade up to number two to get this guy. It's like if you have to really put everything into both sides, are you kind of just watering down what he does so well on both sides?
Pat McAfee
AJ the season's slipping away. You know, we're already at week six, which we need to remember, okay, for ourselves, quick. But also these teams are starting to figure out who the hell they are as well. Travis Hunter figuring out what he is as well. Do you think that's going to be an ongoing experiment all season? Like, when do you think they have a conversation?
A.J. Hawk
AJ Yeah, I mean, I, I would assume it's a daily conversation on what to do with them. Like, each week you probably change up the plan a little bit. But anyway, I'm sure you guys remember you have a guy say you have like a D lineman that plays goal line offense, and the only time that you got to take the guy away from defense during, like, there'll be a period, you'll be doing some kind of defensive install, whatever. They'll have to yell down, make a big deal, hey, send the big guy down. He's got to go run down and go play fullback with the offense. He has to maybe miss a couple, you know, parts of a defensive meeting to sit in with the offense, to go over there, like, red zone plan or whatever. It just takes away during the day because, you know, like in meetings and walkthroughs and everything, I don't know if people realize offense and defense is completely separate. Like, you're not doing anything together. You're not even seeing those guys that much outside of the team meeting until you get on the field for that first walkthrough and practice. Like, you don't really interact much with the offense, so it does. You're always taking something to try to gain something. Whatever you're going. So it's just. How do you balance that? I don't. We don't. That's why we don't really see this happen ever, because. So they're kind of showing us the way I can.
Pat McAfee
The old classic Rob Peter to pay Paul. That's actually happening, you know, like, you're actually stealing from the defensive Time that you could be working, go over the offense and vice versa. The only time you're ever together is special teams and usually stars aren't going to be a part of that. So team meeting, we're all receiving the same message and then special teams, everybody's kind of in there. But other than that you got two different teams operate. I mean, I mean that's been well documented throughout the history of football all the way back to West Chicago. Right. Right when Chicago was right where Rex or not Buddy Ryan. Buddy Ryan.
Ty Schmidt
85 bears.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Darius Butler
And oh yeah.
Pat McAfee
And the offense, they were.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. Like hated each other.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Was it Dicka and.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, right.
Pat McAfee
Y. Yeah, they told us they actually did not like like every day it was like, no, we're better. And they, they really did well with. Yes, really, really well with that. But the team, that's why we always talk about the teams that get along. It's like cuz you're two different outfits basically. And then you got to come together and if everybody gets along, you're in a much better spot. But it is easier to get along when you're winning.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I, I will say, boy, it's much better. Much easier to do that.
Connor Rogers
Yeah. Just completely forgot about for the game tonight though. Like that the, the idea of that worthy in Travis Hunter matchup like that is going to be something I, I, this whole entire day have been thinking to myself, they better play Travis Hunter every single snap on offense. And now you know, like hearing that it's like, oh no, he better play every single snap on defense. Because it is awesome when you have a lockdown corner for the Patriots. Everyone's talking about May and like you know, the offense and it's awesome. Diggs, Christian Gonzalez, just, just watching a football game and then never hearing a cornerback's name. And then the first time you hear him, him, it's a guy catching a ball out of bounds because he's covered so well. And then the second time you hear him, it's him breaking up a pass on third down. It's one of those things where it's like oh my gosh, I forgot like we have our best player on defense back. This is why the Patriots look so good.
Pat McAfee
On that note, if you're those guys, there's a lack of respect for you. How many pass breakups, how many passes defense, if you were to go through like Revis or like whenever he was playing, like how many pass breakups you have, he, he only averages one pass breakup. How many throws are going his way because that's what you literally just go into irrelevance. If you're one of those guys, Gonzalez, I think, has become one of those dudes.
Connor Rogers
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Which is a good thing, a great thing. And it's not great for brand building.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Darius Butler
I mean, if, you know, you know, and then once you. You get paid and defensive coordinate and they can talk about enough, like, if a corner. Corner goes down, like, it probably won't change the point spread at all, but it's going to completely change how the coordinator is calling that defense. Or if you don't have a guy like Charles Woodson playing the slot that week, that completely changes how that defense is going to be played and called. And just every game just means so much. And with the Travis Hunter conversation, like, every play too, if he runs one wrong route and Lawrence tries to lead him somewhere, that's an interception. And the same thing on the defense. You blow one coverage, that could be a touchdown. So, yeah, you're playing very high leverage positions out there.
Connor Rogers
Yeah. That's what sucks, though, cuz, like, because Gonzo isn't allowed, like, social media guy at all or anything. Like, people see PFF rankings and think, oh, okay, so if he's ranked 11th, he's the 11th best, you know, corner in the NFL. And it's awesome for PFF just because it feels as though Collins were started in and he's just kind of held on to that job even though. Though he's been saying the same thing for 20 years. And it's awesome that he does have that job because I do think there was probably a time where he was good at it. Even though, you know, when you go.
Pat McAfee
Patriots fans not liking him after last night.
Connor Rogers
Oh, no. So this is the only reason I'm saying it is because, like, I didn't when I told Collinsworth or I didn't tell Collinsworth when I tweeted this game would be so much better if Collinsworth would just shut the up.
Pat McAfee
What was it that he was making Patriots fans, man.
Connor Rogers
No, no, he was big, was building May up. But it. It's just like the same watered down. Like, I'm pretty sure he said the same thing about Josh Allen in the first quarter and then said, like, no one's going to remember that I said this earlier and then say the same thing about. About Drake.
Pat McAfee
Piss.
Connor Rogers
Drake ma piss too.
Pat McAfee
Drake piss too. Look what Chris Collinsworth is doing right now. He's dancing in your brain. He's spinning your drink.
Connor Rogers
Well, no, no, he's not dancing. My brain at all. I just think he's been robbing money from, you know, NBC for a long time. I think PFF has proven that they don't know what they're talking about. Steve Spagnolo just came out. Steve Spagnolo, probably going to see him on the camera, on the. On the broadcast tonight. He's basically the greatest defensive coordinator in the history of the NFL. And he came out and said, like, well, when PFF ranks players, they have no idea what they're talking about.
Pat McAfee
Why.
Connor Rogers
Why would they. So again, why would. Why would rankings like that be on the most watched game every week? You probably think to yourself, like, okay, they must know what they're talking about. They don't. But that's what bums me out about Sunday Night Football. But that's why I'm so excited about tonight.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
Connor Rogers
Because Monday Night Football, Joe and Troy are the goats. I love them, too. On the call together. And I genuinely think this is gonna.
Ty Schmidt
Be a great football.
Pat McAfee
I think it's gonna be a great football game as well. And I would also like to say, Chris, we're big fans, dude. I was. Pff. That's not true. That's not true. That was part of it.
Connor Rogers
Do you want me to leave the stage and then you can say, we're big fans? Because that.
Pat McAfee
That.
Connor Rogers
That's okay.
Darius Butler
I just don't.
Connor Rogers
I, I. I can't do it anymore.
Pat McAfee
Congrats to the Patriots getting a huge win. And that's life as a commentator right there.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, especially been around a long time.
Connor Rogers
I don't know. I don't know, because even for Herbie, like, fan bases will go after Herbie, but for the most part, people like how he calls a game. Like, if you actually go through those replies in my tweet, I didn't see one person, actually. That's not true. One person did say, like, dude, come on, man, he's awesome. And then I responded to him, and I was like, wait, are you serious? And he said, no, of course not. So you look through the reply. It was like, I've never seen a unanimous. Like, yeah, this guy's ruining football ever in my life.
Pat McAfee
Really? Yeah. Geez, Chris, been giving a lot to the game.
Connor Rogers
Well, that's the thing, too. So when I looked up, like, okay, fine, like, I only know him as a broadcast. Let me go look up. Up his highlights as a player. And then the only thing that came up was this really weird interview, and I was like, what the. Yeah, great. Great football player.
A.J. Hawk
Great Bengals.
Pat McAfee
Received great B. He's been given a football a long time. Okay, Texans get a massive 4,410 win in Baltimore. Baltimore. Interesting. Interesting state. Now there's a lot of people calling for Harbaugh every. And you heard Tone laugh. Literally. He was celebrating in the suite as the Texans were thumping and throwing, throttling this Baltimore Ravens team. Athletic went athletic. Well, he passed the athletic test. I think whenever he played down in Georgia, whenever we watched him play against Georgia, he was able to run a lot. And CJ Stroud has obviously had a lot of bad things said about him as a quarterback since his rookie year in this Texans team. I think a lot of us are confused on what they are or where they're headed. There's no confusion about what this Baltimore Ravens defense, I guess at this point, they're not really able to stop anything. And on offense, they don't really know what's going on. But to their kind of point, their top seven paid guys, six, seven top seven paid guys, were all out. I mean, this is disgusting. The injury bug that has hit the Baltimore Ravens, they're nowhere near the team that they thought they were going to have going into the season at this particular point so early in the year. So it sucks for them. And Bruce, yesterday, all he kept saying is, they're this year's Niners. They're this year's Niners. Wow. Last year, the Niners obviously lose Christian McCaffrey, like, four days before the games our season starts. Then they have injuries riddled throughout, and they just have a year that's just like a terrible year. Like four wins, five wins, and we all just kind of say, wham. What happened to the Niners? That kind of sucked. Is that what we're staring down here for, the Ravens? I think that is what everybody expects. Now, you heard Schefter give an answer to Whit there. They got the Rams coming up, then they got a buy. If they were to give Lamar two weeks and then try to make a push late, I guess they could maybe make a run at it. But this is not what we expected from the Ravens at all this year. And that injury bug's real. And if it attacks your roster, especially your top seven paid guys, I mean, you're in a bad spot regardless of who you got doing anything.
AP Tone
This is not at all what we expected. They were, I believe, the favorites to win the super bowl at the beginning of the season. And, yeah, the injury bug has hit them hard.
Pat McAfee
But the last.
AP Tone
Last two weeks, Derek Henry has eight carries for 42. Sorry. Let's just go back the last four weeks. 11 for 23, 12 for 58 for 42, 15 for 33. Derek Henry's not hurt. Like give him the, like if you're. Lamar's out. You thought he had like six carries for seven yards in the first half yesterday. Yeah, they were down or whatever. But like we did this last year at the beginning of the year for the Ravens, Derek Henry wasn't getting a bunch of carries and it was a talking point every single week. And then they just started feeding him and then they, they, they, they took off. But like you expect these type of organizations to be able to overcome these type of things especially yes, this is the first game Lamar was hurt. Like this one you can put aside. But the other ones, Lamar was healthy. Like you kind of expect them to over Steelers wins the playoffs with a duck hunter as their, as their quarterback. Expect these great organizations to potentially overcome these things and at least put out a better effort than 4110 or whatever.
Pat McAfee
John Harbaugh last year, remember, is he not giving Derek Henry the ball 20, 30 times game? That's not. And then they started doing that. Is that, is it as easy as that for the spotsman Ravens? It looks bad all over the place.
Darius Butler
So bad. Yeah, they weren't even competitive. You mentioned once you go down a few scores, you know, you kind of take Derrick Henry out of the game pretty much. And we know the fumbling issues you had coming into it. But you know the Niners this year, we talked about Niners last year, they lost the start quarterback this year iuk's still out. Kittle's been hurt since we week one.
Connor Rogers
Like they did, they win.
Darius Butler
But Nick Bosa, he's out for the year. So like you can look at the roster and say yeah, we're banged up but Mac Jones, you go out there and you put a good effort for like, for Cooper Rush to come out there and throw, throw three picks and that is a very, very tough defense. And we also thought Texans coming into the season would be competitive, they could turn the corner, actually protect C.J. stroud. So they're, they're kind of hitting their stride a little bit. But I didn't expect, I know top seven guys, I don't know know if we've ever seen that, but I didn't expect to be that non competitive.
Ty Schmidt
No. And we can talk about the Derrick Henry thing because that is a big deal. I mean it's, you know, we saw what happened last year when they basically stopped doing that and just gave him the Ball. But like their offense hasn't been the problem so far this year. Yesterday it wasn't great. But Harbaugh said yesterday after the game, hey, I'm sticking with Zach or, you know, and. And everyone. Every Baltimore fan just killed him for it. But it's one of those things where typically good like injuries are going to happen. It sucks, obviously, but good teams just find a way. Like you just. You can't waste a year of Lamar in his prime. You just can't do that because like I get the purdy thing but like with last year in the ners pie isn't Lamar Jackson. You cannot waste a year of this guy's prime.
AP Tone
Be a shame they they're still favor.
Darius Butler
When's the last time?
A.J. Hawk
When's the last time they were one and four.
Darius Butler
Oh, ever.
A.J. Hawk
With Harbaugh.
Pat McAfee
With Harbaugh. What Tony's about to say there is they are still the favorites of the AFC north to win AFC North.
Darius Butler
That's crazy.
Connor Rogers
Crazy.
Pat McAfee
I don't know if you can short that. What was that guy who was a drummer but he was also Michael Burry. Yeah. What was the big short.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I don't know if we can we do that. I don't know if you could do that. He's probably.
Ty Schmidt
Find a way.
Pat McAfee
Predictive.
AP Tone
You could if you. There was a predictive market that you could do that for.
Pat McAfee
2015, they started like this and they finished 5 and 11. I just got stat from the back. Thank you for pulling that 5 and 11. So they kind of just kind of punted on the year. It's loud about hardball, though. Yeah, A.J. isn't it? It's louder about John Harbaugh than it has been in years past. It feels like now it's definitely started last year. I mean, and probably a year before that. Anytime you're anywhere for that long of a time, some people can get sick of the message and the messenger at the same exact time. And if they don't have success, it's like, well, how much more times this guy need to build a culture that has success. We saw Bill Belichick super bowl every other year for 20 years. Is that what we're doing here or not doing it? It's like top guys, guys. All your top guys hurt. That sucks. That is obviously bad news. But it's been loud about JOHN HARBAUGH, A.J. it's been louder. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Like it is we. It's a weird thing when a guy has been there for. For as long as he has and I don't know. And I guess they haven't, haven't gotten over the hump. You have the talent like Lamar. He doesn't have a ring yet. It is weird. Like you lose two games in a row and they think, oh, we need fresh. We need a fresh voice. We need a. We need to turn the page. And you know, grass is always greener and I don't know the answer. I think we. Hardball has obviously proven to be. Be a great, great football coach. But when is the time when they do move on and they do need a new voice? I'm not saying they do, but it is a. It's a weird thing. Like people want to get rid of coaches after a week or two sometimes.
Pat McAfee
Coach Saban was talking about it this weekend a little bit at dinner about how everybody just wants to move. Who are you going to hire?
AP Tone
That's a good question.
Pat McAfee
And then how about when the people in the NFL you'd hope that there'll be another great coach just right around the corner. Congrats, Callahan.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, that was awesome.
Pat McAfee
Golly. Golly's a good way to describe it.
A.J. Hawk
Up until that I was happy for him. I was happy for stress levels. Everything about it. Like good win for them.
Pat McAfee
How about him watching a football Gods just kind of crazy.
A.J. Hawk
This is crazy, by the way.
Pat McAfee
Yes. Which is. By the way, this is the type of thing that would be happening to, you know, the Titans. This is something. All the things that happened yesterday in that game again for the Titans would be something that, that the Titans would. This would be something that if the Titans player did, we'd all say, of course, this is what happens down there in Tennessee. Instead. It goes their way. Snap off the face. It goes their way. And then in the end they end up winning. Joey. Joey. Slash. Sneaks one in the side door. Sneaks one in very close to the side door there. This play right here. I mean absolute Murphy's Law if you're there. The Tennessee Titans. It's like unreal. Callahan had to be wondering what the hell. What. What. This is usually my life. What's going on on the other side. So good for him. Getting a big time win. And congrats. Cam Ward getting his first. Dude, that was bad. I. I don't even know what a ship's thoughts are.
Ty Schmidt
Could imagine.
Pat McAfee
Yes, he's coming for the Arizona Cardinals. He's. That was almost a miss there. We sneak it in the side door. Shout out to Sly. Doing that and what a moment. Legitimately just in the history of football. And then Kyler Murray has to own that. That their team lost that game. And Gannon, I'm sure, has not slept since the moment that game ended.
AP Tone
The Internet was asking, and I was. I honestly had the same question because Kyler left the game. Did he get a concussion from that snap?
Ty Schmidt
There's a chance. A lot of heat on it. A lot of heat.
Pat McAfee
They checked.
A.J. Hawk
They checked him for it, right? Didn't they check him?
Connor Rogers
Look, he doesn't even know where he is.
Pat McAfee
Great snap, though. Right to the face. I mean, just like Danny Dimes, buddy.
A.J. Hawk
Pats him on the head multiple times. Sorry.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, Gives him a little wakey. Give him a little wakey wakey. Fitz said the thing he likes about Danny Dimes is all the weapons are tall and he's hitting everybody right in the face mask. Good jump on the edge. There might have been a sack. Anyways, ball ends up hitting him in the face. Baker Mayfield and the Bucs head into Seattle and win on the final play. The last two wins have come on the final play. There are four on comeback victories and. And one this season. They might be team of destiny. We started chit chatting about this earlier with the way they've been winning games, how they've been winning games, and everything that happened with Baker Mayfield and his football life, especially whenever he gets booted out of Cleveland and then he starts on the punt block team. I mean, balls banking off of heads. Levante David not even seeing the ball, and then just closing his hands, getting an interception, and then them going on to get a huge win in Seattle. This is just week after week after week for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The football God seemingly blessing this team that we've loved to watch. And their uniforms were definitely filthy yesterday. AJ Is this a team of destiny down there in Tampa and is it because Cleveland.
A.J. Hawk
It might have a little bit to do with what with Cleveland, but it does feel kind of that way. But this was an awesome game. Like what? Talk about two high level quarterbacks. Like, these guys both played awesome. Obviously Sam Darnold, they get that ricochet pick. And obviously that ricochet was due to pressure that they were bringing against him. But man, like, like Baker looks so confident. He looks so good. Also, Sam Darnold does as well. Like Sam, look at this time, he has two to throw. These are two teams. I think obviously the Bucks, we know how good they are. I think the Seahawks too, because the whole west coast bias. People sleep on them at times, but I think they are a real legit contender in the nfc.
Pat McAfee
I love that Sam Darnold is doing what he's doing right now. Which then leads right back to the Minnesota Vikings get a huge win over to Cleveland Browns at 9, 9:30am over there in London. Dylan Gabriel's first start in the NFL. So I'm spinning a little bit. Yes. But what are your thoughts on DG as he does his first start for the Browns in London?
Darius Butler
He looked, he looked good with the young quarterback. You always need a run game. I thought jumpings looked very, very good as well. Fanny Jr. Another rookie there. So they drafted well. But yeah, the moment didn't look too big for Dylan Gabriel at all. He stepped up to the plate. He looked good for a first start, almost stole a win. And then on the flip side, old Carl, Carl got it done. Big time win. Justin Jefferson is ridiculous. Regardless of who's throwing the football, he's always going to make his plays. Then Jordan Addison coming into the game with some, I guess some disciplinary issues. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Mr. Walker or something.
Darius Butler
Yeah. Which is. That's a big deal. That's a huge deal. We talk about it all the time about the things he was going to.
AP Tone
Look at Buckingham Palace.
Darius Butler
Cam Bynum was here and that's. That happens too. Especially with the these overseas trip that happened my rookie year when I was playing for the Patriots. A veteran came in late. One of our wide receivers as well. But yeah, he still for him to show up and make some big plays, the biggest plays down the stretch after being benched. So that's a big time for him. And then Justin Jefferson kind of spoke about it after too like hey, I need to do a better job of taking him under my wing and doing these things. But for a guy like that, you got to be a pro. It's time to grow up. You already had some off the field issues. You are very, very talented. Like lock in and you know, reach your full potential. But a huge win for the Vikings.
Pat McAfee
AJ they're calling him Carson Wentz bro win. Because that's all he does. Win win. Except for last week he just, you know, and maybe previous stops in this whole thing. Kevin o', Connell, Carson Wentz get a big time win. Dylan Gabriel obviously has his moment improves that he's going to be an NFL guy. Carson Wentz still doing it. AJ what's your takeaway from 9:30am kickoff Sunday?
A.J. Hawk
I love watching we talk about all the time. Obviously Justin Jefferson just out of this world how good he is. But others love watching Carson. He has, he plays with a reckless abandon. He does not care about his health and safety. He doesn't care about Anything like that. He's just trying whatever he can to get a win. And honestly, huge, huge drive by him. Huge touchdown pass to win this game like the Browns could. The Browns should have won this game, most likely. But, you know, Cleveland fans say that's the Browns. It's what they do. But when you have a guy like Joe, Justin Jefferson, this is pretty awesome to see. But Carson Wentz, I mean, people. I think. I think people don't really give him the credit that he deserves. He was slinging it for a little bit in this league early on. Mvp.
Pat McAfee
Mvp. And then he gets hurt on a quarterback sneak, I believe. And then obviously, Big Richard, Nick Foles comes in, leads them to a Super Bowl. Then it all collapsed in Philadelphia. Either from egos or personalities or who knows what takes place. I don't know if we're ever going to find out the real story. Then he bounced, bounces around, comes here to Indy. Thought we had one. He walks into our downtown office. Yeah. You go, wow, this guy's a giant. Gee, this guy's an absolute giant. Then I followed him for a season. I still don't know how his parents survive. I still don't know how his parents have been able to watch him play sports or this sport for his entire life, because I assume he's played this way his entire life. Every play could be the greatest play in the history of football. Every single one of them. The ball is in play, could be the best play of all time. And whenever it hits, it's great. And if he has Justin Jefferson down there somewhere, he's going to continue to let this thing go to Justin Jefferson if there's an opportunity for it. I enjoy the way he plays. KOC could be the guy. But this goes back to the Sam Darnold conversation with the way Sam's playing right now, if Sam was still with the Vikings or Aaron Rodgers with the way he's playing, if he was with the Vikings, would they be in a much better position than they're currently in? Where Waiting for JJ With Carson Wentz playing football. And I think Carson almost got hurt. There was a guy named Graeber. What was the guy's name? There was a guy that was about to go and I've never heard.
Darius Butler
We all had probably the same.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he is holding his helmet on his head. He looked very uncomfortable. I'm like, who's this guy? This guy's going in, right? You did this. Say the same. It was on my TV. Brosmer. There it is.
Ty Schmidt
Max Bros. Max Bras, Minnesota.
Pat McAfee
It was on TV in, like, kitchen area, hanging out with McKenzie. I look up, I see this guy holding it. Then he shoot on Carson. He's hurt. I'm like, that guy's not quarterback. Because he was, like, walking behind everybody. Yeah. He had no idea where he was.
Darius Butler
Carson went to the locker about, oh.
Pat McAfee
No, who's this guy? But I would have assumed he did. Good, because Kevin OConnell's their coach. But if you think about all the options they potentially had looking at the year, it's interesting where they are because I think they have a great team. Will they still be? We shall see. See?
Darius Butler
We shall see. Because I love their defense. I think the interior line definitely needs to figure it out. But, yeah, when you're seeing what Sam Darnold is doing out there in Seattle and you can just imagine them being another year more comfortable in this Koc offense, who knows what that'll be? Who knows what JJ McCarthy will end up being, too. I know right now, you know, before he got hurt, he didn't look like the guy. We'll see how he looks when he comes back. But with this game, did we get any. Any factoids from McQuaid this week or no?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Did we get anything from another UK Ireland game?
Ty Schmidt
No factoids. At least I wasn't sent any factoids, but I did see a studio show with McQuaid from Sky Sports. I'll try to find that and send it back in. It was exceptional. Exceptional coverage. Basically, he's just sitting there in the studio and recapping the game and. Yeah, let's just say McQuaid knocked it out of the park.
AP Tone
I did see a post. There was 32. Two jerseys at this one.
Pat McAfee
All 32 teams represented. We played in London. It was not just 32 NFL teams. There's probably every. Baseball, sure was US and NBA jersey was represented. Just American sports was kind of celebrated. But I think that is the difference between the Ireland game. Yeah. What McQuade was trying to say, a lot of Americans traveling to Ireland for that particular game. I think London is viewed as like a. I think they say the Germans. For a lot of the Germans come a lot of English people, and Germans are at the particular game. So it's a celebration of American sports. Have another one this weekend.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
9:30Am Football again. It's a good time to be alive, A.J. on that note, speaking of good time to be alive, Mark Sanchez. Okay, so we all followed this story on the Internet as it was unfolding us, I think a little bit closer because we're From Indianapolis. We live here in Indianapolis. And I love this. Like, I'm very thankful to be here. So whenever I saw that Mark Sanchez, who was here to call the Colts Raiders game, ended up being stabbed on Friday night or whatever, it was obviously alarming. Like that was like, oh no, this is not good. I do not like that this is happening in our city. This cannot be what we're known for. And everybody that was reporting it was like indianapolis, Indianapolis, Indianapolis. Then obviously it got highly politicized. Everybody's talking about how bad. And this comes just a couple weeks after Warren G. Was on a podcast and said that Indianapolis, dangerous city or whatever. And obviously there are certain parts the Warren G. Yeah.
AP Tone
Regulators.
Ty Schmidt
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Mount up. Yeah, he said it. I think it was a couple weeks ago about Indianapolis. So there's a lot of conversation. It gets highly political. And then as the details continue to emerge, it's like, oh no, this is a incredibly disappointing situation that took place in a part of downtown where I think if you were to probably just give a good guess, I think there was a lot of potential boozing going on. I think there was probably a lack of memory of what happened. Does not excuse it. But I'm just saying as the details, Mark was the aggressor, I guess to this box truck driver who's a 69 year old man. They end up getting into a fight allegedly from reports that we've been told. And Angela gano here of Fox 59 News in Indianapolis, I think she was live at the time that it was all taking place and continue to cover it. I think she has been the authority basically on what the actual reports are in the interviews and actually reports going on. And she's from Indianapolis and I think she took a lot of pride in like, hey, you're bearing our city right now. This might not be the story at all. Never want anybody to get stabbed. Don't like any physical altercations, but allegedly from what's being actually reported and there's video on it. And I appreciate the Indianapolis Police Department being so quick on this being like, yo, yo, yo, this is not the case. Him and he, I guess aggressor to this 69 year old is what's being reported. And box truck driver in truck get out. There's an entire thing he said, hey, you keep. I got a knife. Ends up stabbing him. Pepper spray, pepper sprays him, tries to stop and ends up stabbing. There's like a full altercation, a full fight that's taking place and then report about photos have come out now of the 69 year old box truck, his entire cheek is like sliced up here once again. He's 69 years old. He's in hospital. He's in wires too as well. Like he ends up in Sanchez. Obviously there he had him a critical condition at one point and anytime he gets stabbed, obviously it feels like you're always like this far away from something potentially being catastrophic. So it's like incredibly terrible event took place here in Indy, but it's like what it was initially being reported about the city I don't think is accurate. Just seems like it was a terrible, terrible, terrible mistake made, made while probably very intoxicated. They are charging him with Mark Sanchez with a felony, I believe fifth degree felony, which carries a one to six year charge and everything like that. So happy. It sounds like both guys okay? Yeah.
Connor Rogers
Alive.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Hospital?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. Is Sanchez still in the hospital?
Pat McAfee
I think he was, yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Then he was booked out and he's already made, he already made bail. I think his bail was like 300 bucks and then.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, because it was like a bunch of misdemeanors and then.
Ty Schmidt
But that was before they charged him with the felony too. So I don't know.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
So tomorrow is his hearing, I believe. I don't, I don't think he can leave Indiana now because he's. He waived felony and he has a.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Court date set for November 4th.
Connor Rogers
Oh, okay.
Pat McAfee
Angela Gano has. Can we put this up please? Angela Gano, once again, she's literally been on it the whole time. Judge just granted the motion to waive initial hearing for Mark Sanchez a pre trial conference. His next first court date is set for November 4, 2025 at 8:30 30am so it's like terrible situation. And our city does a lot of hosting, you know, like a lot of hosting. A lot of people come from out of town. So whenever the reports are like Indianapolis got, it's like that's Whoa, whoa, whoa. Like downtown area hotel. Everything's set up. We are a big we. We enjoy people coming to our city and this incredibly sad. And then another incredibly sad Tyron Lacey story coming out from down there at lsu. I mean this is heartbreaking, disgusting. You name all of it. LSU wide receiver obviously ends up killing himself in a car after he crashes his car into a pole or an off bank. And this is on the same day he's about to get charged with vehicular homicide. It didn't happen. Like the reports of what he did were completely wrong. And his lawyer in postpartum at his funeral told Him. Hey, I got your back. Here. He comes in here at the end, Karen Lacey. So that's the accident that takes place. That is obviously the topic of all the charges that take place. There's Karen Lacey in the green Charger there. They're saying he was 74 yards behind the actual hit or 100 yards behind the actual hit. Crash. Whenever it happens, he does drive around it. He ends up getting charged for this, this entire thing, and ends up killing himself in before we even get a chance to see what he could become, what he could do for his family, his community and everything like that. So this is another thing that was just like false allegations, falsely reported, changed his entire life, and then now we're finding out after he's dead that he didn't do it. It's like, sad. Like all these things were kind of happening at the same time and it's like just. Just not. It's not cool. We got to get that right. Like, we, we, we. That can't. That can't be that Kyron Lacy story. Sad, man.
A.J. Hawk
Did he get afterwards or something? Like, he. After that he got in a wreck and then they accused him of causing the initial wreck.
Pat McAfee
So that was in December. That particular crash right there, he was getting charged for. Okay, he was getting very serious charges for. And then in April is when he ended up taking his life. Allegedly. He was at a family gathering beforehand, like, like a cookout or something like that. Something took place and then he leaves, crashes, and then shoots himself afterwards. So couldn't even imagine the pressure in the. This is when he was going to get drafted. Yeah. World thinks he's the worst person on earth.
Ty Schmidt
That basically plummeted his draft stock. And it was like, okay, you can't draft this guy. Like, look what's going on. And, yeah, look. I mean, none of it happened. Crazy.
Darius Butler
Yeah. I don't understand how something like that happens. How does this not come out until this point? I. I've seen some of the, like the body cam footage and some of the other stuff that can't happen. Somebody's got to pay severely for doing that type of shit to railroad him. Because you talk about his, you know, obviously it plummeted his draft. Stop. But literally in his life ultimately, and not only just his life, just think about his family, like, you know, the people that care about him, people love his teammates for. I've saw a lot of his former teammates and coaches and people that were close to him. So it's just incredibly sad. I don't understand how this. Something like this can happen. Hats off to his lawyer for, you know, sticking to his word and sticking to it and getting to the bottom of these things. Because it is tough a lot of times when things are getting covered up or pointed in a certain direction to actually get the truth out of it. So shout out to him. Obviously it won't matter to Kyra Lacey at this point, but at least his family clears.
Pat McAfee
Family. Yeah, everybody. I mean, because what was being reported was just matter of fact. Yeah, like what we were reading and everything was like, no, nope, this is.
A.J. Hawk
This.
Pat McAfee
We got witness here. Now we're learning about why and how the witness came to stay with it. And it's like, that's. That's nasty work, dude. Like, why that? Yeah. What T's and P's. We are so sorry about all this. Obviously we can't do anything other than that at this point, but that sucks. And then for 69 year old Mark Sanchez, happy you guys are both alive. And whatever ends up happening here, here, it's like well deserved. And hopefully this changes a life a little bit. There's some things that need to change too. I need to talk about that. These sky camps. Aj, have you seen this?
Connor Rogers
Come on.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, yeah. I thought we were way past this. This is. This can't.
Pat McAfee
Okay, great shot. So listen, sky cam in this particular case maybe doesn't know. Oh, Boom. Off the head or hitting the sky cam. And they're down. Wait, what? Yeah. Justin Fields throws a rocket bang off his forehead. That thing takes off at about 30 miles an hour right for. It broke. Let's go back to the side angle. I'm not 100% sure anybody could have caught up to this ball. I know D linemen are incredibly explosive. That ball's going very quick at that. I think that thing's gone with someone around him Field like he would have had. I mean, I think he would have had to. That thing. I think that thing's going really fast that way. But we'll never know because guess what was in the way?
Ty Schmidt
The sky.
Pat McAfee
Let's go to the thing that the sky cam has been attacking forever. Kickers, footballs. And nobody believes anybody but the kickers. This one, I'll tell you. I don't know.
Connor Rogers
It's close.
Pat McAfee
Hits a pinky. There's a sky cam wire there. It does turn to the right. Is that because of the pinky right there or is it because it hits a sky cam wire right there where it starts to get a little fatter?
Darius Butler
It shouldn't be that close, though.
Pat McAfee
We don't shouldn't be. But also on that note, like, don't know if it hit the sky cam wire here. No, it definitely hit a pinky there. Good block by the year of the block almost for the Cleveland Browns. But we shouldn't even be having a discussion on whether or not it hits sky cam. Get the thing out of the way. Get the thing now that's in your Europe. Okay, so maybe it was a soccer.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Sky camera. Sure. Yeah. Maybe it was a. Maybe it was a European. Didn't know where the ball was going there. Stay out of the way. We're not 100 sure, but we can't have a sky cam. In a way, we appreciate what sky cam has brought. Love it. We appreciate what sky cam has brought. We love the view. We love the angles. Can't be getting in again. Is this the sky cam trying to make a name for itself? Could be. Maybe talk about how important it is. Watch this. That's what just did that.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, exactly.
Pat McAfee
I could do this anytime I want. Want. I'm just like any other drone out there. I could take over whenever I want to take over. Let me go spit this thing out. I don't love it.
Ty Schmidt
It's a joke.
Darius Butler
That's a live ball, too, right? If we catch that off the Scott.
Pat McAfee
Can I think bank plays? Yeah, actually, they'll play that there. They would definitely. Again, I think they would definitely run the play again. Except for in this case, they didn't do that. Which everybody got mad about.
Darius Butler
No. So if this, say, ricochets right down and I catch it, go pick six.
Ty Schmidt
That replay, if it touches the sky.
Pat McAfee
Cam at all, like Dallas is.
A.J. Hawk
Is like when it used to hit Dallas's old big screen.
Darius Butler
Remember when it was low?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Dead ball.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. They changed it to replay of down, but they didn't do it in this case. So everybody was like, what?
A.J. Hawk
Imagine if this happens in a big game. Imagine this happens in a playoff game. Honestly, like a playoff game. At some point in a huge game, that means something. It truly does affect the game. Like, then what?
Pat McAfee
Then what? And on that note, I don't know if the jets and Justin Fields are going to make the playoffs this year and go on a run and maybe have a sky cam moment. But he should feel really good about his arm strength. Strength. So I played volleyball in high school. When you would hit somebody, boom, with the ball and it would hit off their chest, bang. And it would go up and out of bounds somewhere. Felt like a king. This dude threw a football so hard off a guy's face. This thing took off out of orbit and hit the sky cam up there. Justin Field should feel good about what he's doing right now. Now granted they're not winning any games.
Ty Schmidt
That's right.
Pat McAfee
But he should feel good about how that ball's coming off. And that guy guy's forehead he should feel good too about being able to just eat a 90 mile an hour football right to the forehead. Now 90 mile an hour football is certainly something. Baseball happened this weekend as well. You have any huge baseball updates, Ty? Maybe that we can all learn about and chitchat about. Heard Canada is better than America at baseball. I didn't know that was. Did you know that?
Connor Rogers
No, that's not true. Don't listen to whoever's saying that.
Pat McAfee
Ty. Can you please give us all an update on what's happening in baseball?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, sure. To that. That point. Yeah, unfortunately. Pretty gutless performance by the Yankees up in Canada over the weekend. Oh no, Vlad Guerrero. I mean we could talk through this whole thing but you know, if you want me to just be very succinct about it, the. The Blue Jays hit about 400 fucking home runs against the Yankees. The Yankees didn't do anything. So they are going back to New York tomorrow. Down 20 in an elimination game. Like I said, just pathetic through and through for everything that you had heard. So as of right now, yeah you could argue you that Canada is better than you know, at least New York at baseball.
AP Tone
What do you have 10 strikeouts and.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
What the hell happened there?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, Trey Savage who was making I believe his fourth start struck out 11 Yankees in four innings which again this is kind of the Yankees MO they hit a lot of home runs but they also swing in a lot of shitty pitches and strike out a lot. Very heavy lefty lineup and he was just eating them up with his split finger all day. So that's not great. So they have to win. You can cut this.
Connor Rogers
So, so is it, is it their time for their guy to go again? Like game one against the Red Sox. Their ace is as yard.
Ty Schmidt
That's. That's what it was in the first game. Toronto pitched their number one guy against the Yankees number four. But then Max Freed who is the Yankees h ace pitched the other day and just got absolutely shelled. So it. It'll be we. We'll see. They got to go. Their backs are excited against the wall. They were against the Red Sox. The other big series from the weekend which the NL only played one game but we had Dodgers and Phillies. Shohei on the bump for and he you know he wasn't super sharp but he did calm down. You can see strikeout early here. Schwarbo boy, I'll tell you what, Schwarbo missed one just very very close in the first inning after we talked talked to him last week. And then Shohei hit a bit of a rough patch against the Phillies in the the second inning. I mean I you know again a lot of strikeouts from Shohei. He did pitch well but the the Phillies got to him. They, they took an early lead and your guy Sanchez what was absolutely dealing early. Of course fortunately he did fall apart. You can see here this is JT Real Muto who hit a triple into the gap to kind of get things going for the Phillies early. At this point it looked like they were going to chase Shohei and that was going to be it. They were going to kind of have a very comfortable and easy win. This is Harrison Bader just narrowly, narrowly missing a home run and getting a sack fly. So the Phillies put up three early against Shohei which is kind of exactly what they want to do. But the Dodgers are so good they always respond tay Oscar Hernandez three run homer to go ahead and put the Dodgers up five three and that was kind of all she wrote. So the Dodgers take a one run lead and kind of save somewhat of a subpar outing from Shay. He did go over four at the plate. That's kind of one of the things I was saying is hey, you're robbing Peter to pay Paul a little bit there because he's got to focus on both. And then f the the Milwaukee brewers blew out the Cubs with a lot of singles. That's just kind of how they play a lot of small ball, just bad on ball skills, putting the ball in play nonstop. They're hard to strike out. So I mean we this, this highlight is basically the same thing over and over again is single to the outfield, single to the outfield, double to the gap. Single to the outfield, single to the outfield. And they just kept putting a quarter in the merry go round and scoring runs. They blew out the Cubs and then the probably the game of the weekend series of the weekend. The Detroit Tiger Lakers traveling to Seattle. Terry Scubal who is probably going to be the AL Cy Young. He gave up his first multi home run game to a player in a little over or four years I believe. Jorge Polanco there for the Mariners hit a home run early and then he touches Scubal again late to give them a 20 lead and that was pretty much all they would need. They're gonna. They do get one more from Julio Rodriguez in a little bit here when the game was tied 2 2. So Detroit did have a little bit of a run in them. Ultimately, though, the. The Mariners even the series last night after this. They pull ahead to. It's 1:1 now, and that was the first postseason win in Seattle in 24 years. So, like, Seattle atmosphere was amazing. So where it stands right now, Yankees are down 20 to the Blue Jays. The Cubs are down 10 to the Brewers. The. The Mariners Tigers is 1 1. And then the Dodgers have one game up on the Phillies. So the NL teams are playing tonight, and then tomorrow night we'll have the AL team. So, you know, again, Monday Night Football got a great game tonight, but we got a couple really good games tonight and tomorrow. Postseason baseball.
Pat McAfee
Baseball's delivering a little bit. AJ, WNBA, the Aces are currently up 2Z tip. Best is 7 in the Finals against the Mercury. Okay.
A.J. Hawk
Jake has got to win three straight.
Pat McAfee
Ty.
A.J. Hawk
Sorry. Yankees that win three straight.
Ty Schmidt
Yes, they do.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, the Yankees.
Connor Rogers
Wait, so does Asia have to win three straight then, though?
Pat McAfee
Who.
Connor Rogers
Or the Aces are up. They're up. Okay.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Yeah, they're up.
Connor Rogers
So the.
Pat McAfee
They. The.
Connor Rogers
Okay.
Pat McAfee
It was a battle the first. I didn't see the second game. First game.
Ty Schmidt
Mercury are tough, too.
Pat McAfee
It was like 86, 84, something like that. I forget what the exact score was. It was a battle battle, though.
Connor Rogers
It was tight in the playoffs.
Pat McAfee
Hey, baseball's doing it. Or sports are doing it right now. Sports are doing it.
Darius Butler
Right.
A.J. Hawk
I think the stars are step. We saw a big dumper coming around third base, scoring right there, and there's that highlight package. So. Yeah, man, I like when the stars are playing well, I guess it's good for baseball maybe.
Pat McAfee
Is it.
A.J. Hawk
I guess is it good for baseball if the Yankees win time? I think it is. I don't know.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, definitely. I mean, you know. No, no.
Pat McAfee
Yes. That's a Boston fan right there.
Connor Rogers
Yeah. Everybody, including myself, wants Yankees dodge again.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, exactly. I mean, no offense. Offense to the Blue Jays because they are arguably the best team in the majors. They just, like, play the game the right way, but they don't. They have a couple stars. But yeah, I mean, if the Yankees lose, you're probably going to see a large chunk of just like the common fans who like, don't want to watch Blue Jays, Mariners or Blue Jays Tigers. And if you love baseball, it's. It's a great, you know, it's a great Series, but Seattle. Yeah. I mean, the Yankees have star power. You know, I don't want to hit.
Connor Rogers
And I see a bunch of guys sliding and singles, man.
AP Tone
Yeah, People like Yankees, too.
Pat McAfee
Ding dong. Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Which Toronto has been doing. They hit about 40 homers. He did. Yeah. He had a. He had a homer in the first game as well, and then hit a grand slam in game two to kind of.
Pat McAfee
Hold on. Can we. Can we turn the sound on, please, for this one? We don't have it.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, is that Dan Schulman and Buck Martinez going crazy?
Pat McAfee
No, not just them.
Ty Schmidt
The crowd. Yeah. Roger center. That's. That's a true home field advantage.
Connor Rogers
The.
Ty Schmidt
The Blue Jays, I think, are like 51 and 24 at home this year, which is just absolutely insane. They are so hard to beat in Toronto.
Darius Butler
So we'll see that one of the hotel or.
Ty Schmidt
Yes, the hotel in center field, which I'm not going to.
Pat McAfee
Footballer.
Darius Butler
I played. I think I played my last college game. If an international ball.
Ty Schmidt
Really?
Darius Butler
I believe it was great.
Ty Schmidt
You've been there?
Darius Butler
We played Buffalo.
Connor Rogers
So Buffalo.
Darius Butler
They travel.
Pat McAfee
We played the Bills there for preseason.
Ty Schmidt
And you. And you went to a Yankees Blue Jays game there.
Pat McAfee
And is that where eliminate.
Ty Schmidt
No, It. It might have been. Nah, probably not. That was probably where. I assume where the Maple Leaves play.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, maybe. I don't know. Got into some up there. Well, you got loud.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
A couple world leaders responded after I said some stuff. Oh, yeah, that's good. Yeah. It's always a fun time, aj. Insane. Just open the phone.
Connor Rogers
What a crazy time.
Pat McAfee
No. Oh, no. Oh. Oh, no. Man, I wish I had my plate. From 57 YouTube TV. Every game, every Sunday, all in one place. With NFL Sunday Ticket, new users now pay only 34.50 per month. Ty Schmidt
Yes.
Pat McAfee
You talk about the NFL going on Thursday night to Amazon. That being a trailblazer. These folks getting into this is huge. Who knows what's going where? Whenever ESPN picks things up, but this has obviously been amazing. Quad box is special. Scott Hansen kills it. We're still watching right zone. Yeah.
Darius Butler
Still battling.
Ty Schmidt
I don't like it.
Darius Butler
Yep.
AP Tone
It is tough, but I do.
Pat McAfee
It's gonna be impossible not to watch anything. We didn't cover Jaden Daniels. Congratulations. Yeah. Look good. Chargers and Spencer Rattler, first win. Yeah. Rattler was 0 and 10, I believe as a NFL starter. He gets his first win. He becomes 1 in 10, taking on the New York Football Giants, Jackson Darton. The boys look good early. And then the Saints get a big time win. Congrats to that. And I think we covered everything. Boom. We'll continue digitally where we'll make our pitch for tonight's Monday Night Football game, and then we'll be back tomorrow. Overreacting to everything. That's AJ Hawk, Darius Ballers here. The toxic tables here. AP tones here. And we can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living. Who knows how long any of this lasts, AJ but it's an honor to be a part of.
A.J. Hawk
We don't know.
Pat McAfee
Sports are the greatest. Congrats to Gabby having incredible confidence this weekend. We'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye. She was the greatest.
Connor Rogers
Yeah. I'm glad you snuck that in. I forgot about that. That was so sick. I can't believe Herbie could throw it that far. When he came in here, he could barely hit that net.
Darius Butler
Okay, still got it.
Pat McAfee
Thank you for mentioning.
A.J. Hawk
There's not a doubt.
Pat McAfee
Right?
A.J. Hawk
Was anybody.
Connor Rogers
I did not think he was throw it.
A.J. Hawk
He couldn't throw it. Like, do you think he couldn't get it there or the ain't? What do you think? Accuracy?
Pat McAfee
35 yards in a suit. He's 56 years old, dude. He's 50.
A.J. Hawk
I think he could have done it left hand handed.
Connor Rogers
The suit, dude.
Pat McAfee
That's what Nick Saban said. Nick Saban. When I got back up there, he goes. I should have had him throw a lefty. I'm like, 35 yards is a 56 year old. That's no problem. The ball also has a, like a. A, A plastic seal around it. You know, like, there's a chance that thing slips out of his hand and has a terrible.
Ty Schmidt
Can you imagine?
Pat McAfee
So, just so everybody understands this Gabby Mathis, this girl. Awesome. Awesome. I mean, I am a huge fan. She's the third girl. I mean, he spun that thing.
Ty Schmidt
He did.
Connor Rogers
He did.
Pat McAfee
He really did spin it. She's the third girl that has won the raffle. She was there since noon the day before. Wow. Okay. Just trying to do her thing. She wins the raffle, has never kicked anything before. Okay. Chemical engineering major, whatever it is, has never kicked anything before. She's a senior, and she's like, oh, I want to do it myself. I'm sure the people around her whenever she won. Were like, hey, hey. Just last week, guy picked somebody who's a good kicker. She said, nope, I want to do it. And I'm like, I love that. I met her in between commercial breaks. And I said, hello, your name's Gabby. She goes, yes. I go, very nice to meet you. Have you ever kicked before or anything? She goes, no. And I go, okay, why'd you pick to do it? She was like, I want. I want to do it. And I was like, that's awesome. I love that.
Connor Rogers
Bingo.
Pat McAfee
I absolutely love that. I absolutely love it. And she was like, like, so joyful the entire time. So then we go up on stage, and Kirk's like, what are we. How are we looking? You know, Cuz it was like, other side, where I meet. Kirk was over here, so he didn't see her. I was like, girls never kicked before. He goes, never kicked before. I'm like, never. He goes, why didn't she. Did she. Could she have picked somebody or did she didn't. I said, she just wants to do it. And I was like. He was like, I like that. I'm like, me too. Like, I actually like him mostly because, you know, good chance this ain't going in. You know, I do the entire thing. Yeah. So then we go out there. The scene is electric. I mean, it is an electric scene. Getting there, we had to go pretty far. Couldn't hear everything because of how far away we were actually to find it because of how packed in everything kind of was. So we get over there. She. Before this kick, she just was about to just.
Darius Butler
I love.
Pat McAfee
She, like, there was no. I didn't even know she. I didn't even know she was gonna go. She was literally just gonna stand there and try to swing us. So I'm like, yo, you gotta do a step. You going.
Darius Butler
Are you going right now? You about to kick it back?
Pat McAfee
Hold on. None of us are ready. We didn't. We didn't even know you were going to potentially do that. You didn't even take any steps backward. She's like, yeah, I'm going to do that. I'm like. So then Herbie goes, you got to go back here, bro. You got to. Come on, we got to take a couple steps here. She's trying to give a. A good attempt at it and her first attempt, obviously, this one. Not good. Okay, not good.
Darius Butler
Topped it.
A.J. Hawk
It was right online, though. Right online.
Pat McAfee
It was straight. Not good. Hopefully starts going, one more shot, one more kick or whatever ever. And she's like. I asked her, do you Want to do it? She goes, yeah, I want to do it again. I'm like, I love this girl.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Just after what just happened, she didn't want to pick anybody. She could have easily said, like, I'm not.
Connor Rogers
Not embarrassed that she's never kicked.
Pat McAfee
Exactly. She's just like, yeah, I'll do it again. Yeah. Maybe the next time. It was like, her. Her blind optimism sure was. So, like, for me, it radiated like it was oozing. I'm like, I like to hear this. I appreciate that you exist. So then I was scanning. I'm like, all right, is there anybody around here that looks like they can kick like that? That's really what I'm doing. Scanning in there. Scanning in there. I'm like, can we pull somebody? And then I'm like, well, we haven't. Who knows? I could pull some. Who knows, right?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. What person comes out of there?
AP Tone
Sure.
Pat McAfee
So in my head, I'm like, liability. Can't just pull a random person.
Connor Rogers
Well, Gabby's got a sign stuff, too.
Pat McAfee
Boom. The whole thing. Yes. There's a lot of things that go into it all, so it's like, I just can't pull some random person. Then Herbie's like, why don't you kick it? And I'm like, okay, Actually, I'm in pretty good shape right now. Maybe I do kick it. So you watch my brain, like, kind of go through, like, scanning somebody. Then, like, do I kick it? I got my cowboy boots on. There's no grip on the bottom of those. No. We're on turf. Can I. I was trying to figure out whether or not I could do a no step, if I could kick it. No step yards. And I'm like, so I'm judging it. I'm like, ultimately, I'm not making that. So then I. I start looking around, and I look at her. Herbie, he's, like, spinning the ball in his hand, and I'm like, oh, boom. Like, in my head, you should have seen the celebration that comes about. Like, yes, you. Herbie, especially because he's like, I'll throw in 200,000. He's like, doing the whole thing. I'm like, all right, Herbie, let's go ahead and do it. So in my head, it was not 100% ER for him to make this in a suit. Not a great throwing ball. He's 56 years old, 35 yards at least. This ball has to be hawked, and he does, you know, like, he could have missed that. That could have slipped. So in my head, it wasn't 100% er, but it was certainly at least a way, like, hey, we got a viable shot here. And shout to Herbie showing up. Yeah, that was a great throw by Herbie. He's genuinely pumped that he helped Gabby.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
And I think it was a cool moment, but I want to let Gabby know, hey, your mindset is awesome. There needs to be more people like you. Gabby and me and Kirk both felt it, experienced it, and we're lucky to be a part of that whole thing. And her pure joy afterwards is so cool. Like, we need more of those happening. And now, granted, if I would have just done that for 100,000, probably same effect.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, I think you can go down.
AP Tone
That's always my thought.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. But this is classic me, just being a checkers good thumbs up there by Stanford Steve. This is just classic me, being a checkers player. Okay. This is just in the moment. I just got to get to this spot that is. There's no chess being played there. It's just like, this could be really awkward television right here. This could be really bad. Obviously, we never really think about this, what are we going to do? And then it's like, as soon as the idea comes, it's like, yep, King Meek, let's. And then do we have to do 300,000? Probably not. But I don't think there's a better person on earth for that money to go to. So we are pumped for Gabby. Good luck in the future. And it's a completely blank slate when we go out there legitimately, as it's.
Connor Rogers
Being proven right now, part of what makes it great.
Pat McAfee
Just live tv, bro.
Darius Butler
I don't know what's coming. I guess in. In hindsight, it is kind of disrespectful. AJ To Herby. I guess he could. He.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, come on now.
Darius Butler
Because when you told him and I saw him kind of, you know, everybody. Oh, man. Everybody does a little one stretch or a little growing something. And when he did that, I was like, ah, this is probably. I was probably 75, 25, that he was going to get it there.
Pat McAfee
In my head, he was going to make it. Yeah, but it wasn't 100 percenter. Like, in my head, not 100.
A.J. Hawk
If he missed it, would you give him a second throw? If he would have somehow.
Pat McAfee
No, no, no, no. That would have got real loud after.
Darius Butler
No, didn't.
Connor Rogers
Wait, didn't Herby say that if he didn't make it that Gabby could just take Peter? Like, she just gets a dog.
Pat McAfee
No. Oh, whoa. Peter has never like that.
Connor Rogers
No. I thought that was like, hey, all of a. Instead of $300,000, $500,000, you get Peter. He's a great dog, and you can put a saddle on him.
A.J. Hawk
Money now, too.
Pat McAfee
Look at her. Yes, he is. He got ads. Look at that. Ro.
Connor Rogers
Bang.
Pat McAfee
I'm still impressed by the. Throw in the suit.
Ty Schmidt
Completed the pass, too. I don't. I don't know if the camera picked it up, but I'm pretty sure the other guy didn't have a sick one.
Connor Rogers
Dude, I need to get the. Oh, I haven't seen.
Pat McAfee
That's a cool thing. I need to shout out. Jeff Brown does an incredible job with the entire logistics of the raffle and everything like that. There's a new, like, production assistant out there. Tatiana. Got a chance to meet her a couple weeks ago. She's new out there. She's helping run the entire. Obviously Herb street with the holds. Stanford Steve out there going underneath. He's always. Yeah, he'll come up to me afterwards. He'll be like, that one was the closest. It's like, thanks, Steve. Thanks, buddy down there. So I appreciate everybody's partner. We have the same cameraman, so I need. I need to get his info. He's running all over the place. He's sweating his balls off.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, I bet he's a worker.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he is.
Darius Butler
He's the one.
Connor Rogers
Was he the one that told you about the high dive? Is the same one?
Pat McAfee
No. Jib operator for Door Dash. Been around for, like, 20 years with the show. I don't really see him because he's over there. He's the one night before at Des's house, like, can go off that high, not nowhere else are you going to be able to go off a high dive. Just think about that. Just want you to. Just want you to know that just nowhere else the cameraman doesn't have, like. Doesn't have to tell me that, you know, that was really cool of him to be, like, been around a long time. I don't know if. And I'm like, do we have a shot of it? He goes, oh, yeah, we got a lot of shots. I mean, it's. Have you seen it? I'm like, no. He's like, it's. It's right there like you were gonna be staring at. So it's like a good team effort for all these things. I'm very appreciative.
AP Tone
Have you.
Pat McAfee
It's very expensive.
AP Tone
Are they the same field goal post? Because they got a long travel this week.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, they are the same field goal post. And I'll tell you what, I'm excited to get out there.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I am excited to get out there to Oregon, working, because it is beautiful once you get there. And the people are very enthusiastic and they love ball out there. And they'll be out there in pitch black, which we are incredibly grateful for. It's far, though. It's a far trip. We're going to Europe, bro.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, we're going to Europe, aj Further, almost.
A.J. Hawk
It's out there.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. It's.
AP Tone
Great game.
Connor Rogers
I mean, at least you're going now.
Pat McAfee
I'm not even.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, dude, think about. Think about, like, mid November going there. Like, at least now it'll still. Still, like, not be freezing cold. Oregon is still an unbelievable team. Like, there are worse times to go to Oregon.
Pat McAfee
I'd be much more tired. You're talking later in the season. Yeah. More exhausted.
Connor Rogers
Exactly.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
The morning would be, you know, 20 degrees out.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right, right. We're lucky. I'm lucky to be. I'm lucky to be a part of any of this. Just won't let everybody know that I feel that way. But whenever Oregon pops up on the old schedule, there is like a. Come on, we gotta go out there. Let's go. We get to go out.
AP Tone
This week is absolutely loaded.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, Loaded. Huge.
Connor Rogers
So pumped.
Darius Butler
How was this past slate chaos?
AP Tone
It actually turned out really well.
Connor Rogers
That's.
AP Tone
We talked about how last year there was all those upsets. Week six, it turned out, you know, there was obviously the big one this weekend. Penn State and UCLA was the ginormous huge upset. Obviously Penn State comes off that loss to Oregon and overtime, it has to travel all the way across. Across the country. And they run into Nico Ian Maliava, who just.
Ty Schmidt
He looked good.
AP Tone
Their court, their offensive coordinator. New Heisel's son. I can't remember his.
Ty Schmidt
Jerry.
Pat McAfee
Jerry.
Ty Schmidt
New Heisel.
Connor Rogers
He was a coordinator.
Pat McAfee
Joey Molinaro.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, he does have that.
Pat McAfee
22 talks exactly like. Like Joey Molinaro doing that one. Might be. That might be.
Ty Schmidt
Might be the bread and butter.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Joey's pulling for him to be very good. This guy becomes a head coach somewhere in a big spot. Joey's rolling out of bed into this. Yeah. I mean, legitimately.
Darius Butler
Atlanta stuff.
AP Tone
Four touchdown.
Pat McAfee
Dogs hasn't called plays ever.
Connor Rogers
No.
Pat McAfee
Like starting on Wednesday.
Connor Rogers
Unbelievable.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Wednesday found out he's going place first time ever. His dad. Did you see his dad watching?
Darius Butler
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. That was sick.
Ty Schmidt
Yes, he did.
Pat McAfee
Football is the greatest.
Ty Schmidt
They were saying too, like, he's never operated like the headset. So, like, half. Like, a bunch of times during the game, he thought he'd be like, telling Nico a play, and Nico would be like, yeah, I never got to play, so I kind of had to call my own. And that's what he says. Like, hopefully we'll have all that figured out next week. I. I'll talking to the right.
Pat McAfee
He's talking to the booth. Yeah, he was talking to the booth. Thought he was talking to Nico. All right, Nico, here we go. First down. Let's make sure we look through this. And so somebody in the booth's like, yo, Jerry. Jerry. No, no. With your beat, Penn State, which is.
Darius Butler
Insanity, goes on to be multinational championship with a head coach.
Pat McAfee
Me too. I hope so, too, especially in the moment. And he talked about his love of ucla. I don't know if there's. I don't want to get in. They have an interim head coach who isn't him. So I. I don't want to start stepping on anybody's. But, like, this dude loves ucla. Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Carry him off the field.
Pat McAfee
He was passionate about UCLA afterwards, about how great the place is. I don't know how many of those people you're going to find right now that want to. So on that note. And we got to get the camera and security guard out of there. Somebody hit a wall.
AP Tone
Yeah, that was Alabama, Georgia, Texas A and M. One of those. It was a red school. It's definitely sec.
Pat McAfee
That was terrible, terrible head.
AP Tone
Oklahoma maybe. It was Oklahoma, maybe.
Pat McAfee
Oh, that's scary, scary, scary stuff. Penn State, though, losing that game.
AP Tone
So that what, they were ranked, what, second preseason, I think.
Ty Schmidt
Yep.
AP Tone
Who was number one?
Ty Schmidt
Texas.
AP Tone
Oh, they lost this weekend, too, to Florida. They beat their ass.
Pat McAfee
Oh, my God. That was. That was out of control to watch that. Now everybody that I was around Friday night, full college football conversation, it felt as almost if it was a matter of fact. It did.
Ty Schmidt
It did.
Pat McAfee
Kind of like everybody I was about talking, talking to was like, tomorrow, Florida, it's gonna.
A.J. Hawk
Really.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, everybody legit. That's why if you listen to us make the picks, I'm kind of like, Texas, need them. Need them. But, like, everybody we were around was like, florida is A, not an easy place to play. B, if they don't put them, like, Florida's defense, good. Like, everybody sees DJ Lagway have, like, five picks. That's the defense. Keeps them in every game. Like, the Arch is going to have problems. And if Arch can't get going, is Florida going to be able to sneak through here with a win, it's like, yep, they certainly did. And now the conversation about Arch is loud and obviously Napier's got another week to survive. Certainly good for him. Yeah, it's like chaos though. Penn State loses, Texas loses to Florida. Absolute pandemonium happening around ball.
AP Tone
Yeah, those Florida boys, they, they fight for Billy Napier. But the game you were at, Bama Vandy, it was close for a while and then Bama kind of. Of kind of pulled away late. I thought Ty Simpson played incredible. Vandy played incredible too. They just had those two red zone turnovers that really cost them. The, the scorer was not indicative, I don't think, of what this game was. I think what was the final 30 to something. Bama had a very, very late touchdown to score, but I think. And Ty Simpson looks really, really good. Yes, score and cover.
Pat McAfee
They had a late touch on the score and cover. So everybody's just going to think that Alabama really dominated. There was a lot of stressful moments in Nick Saban. Sweet. We're lucky to be there. Nick Saban was honored for going into the College Football hall of Fame. They gave him a plaque and a whole thing and the place went crazy. I mean, the pop was rightfully insane. And what I've learned is getting a chance to do Alabama football stuff with Nick Saban's really cool, I would imagine. Yeah, just, it's really cool just to be able to walk wherever, talk to whoever, and even get whatever pizza we want delivered to the suite whenever we want. But where he's at, everybody knows where he's at. Suite is. So anytime anything happens, basically the entire stadium is looking up at him. So Vandy scores first big touchdown. Nick Saban stands up. Okay, Tucks shirt still has dress pants on. Turns to the side and just stands like. I don't know where he was going. I, I honestly still don't think he's gone anywhere. I, I think he stayed in that spot. Wanted to get up and move though, because he was so uncomfortable. Just like so uncomfortable. Then he sits back down, he's got Mr. His left, he's got Reese to his right. And then they just kind of settle back in and start watching the game. Then something bad happens, penalty or something. Everybody looks back at him for his reaction. He knows sells everything. And then whenever the good stuff start, happens, doesn't celebrate. So, like bad things happen. We're all like, oh, that's terrible. Good things start happening. We're like, let's go. Nothing, just. We got long games here still. So he is still.
Ty Schmidt
I Mean invested.
Pat McAfee
He is locked in in those games, dude. He was very, very kind to miss Terry and Nick to take care of us and hospitality was absurd. But on that note about Vandy, Van is a good team. They are a very good team. Diego's a dog, obviously. Mad respect to him and everything that they've built over there. But Bama is real. It feels like Bama is real again.
Ty Schmidt
They are.
AP Tone
And then the team that is definitely real. Miami headed to Florida State and the defense put the clamps on early. And then Malachi Tony, the freshman, the freshman wide receiver just put on an absolute show. That's not him there. That is C.J.
Pat McAfee
Daniels.
AP Tone
The celebrations all night were awesome. Here's an interception by Miami. And then the next two touchdowns were by Malachi Tony, the freshman wide receiver for Miami. And Carson's back looked really good.
Pat McAfee
They look fast, they look strong, they look explosive. They look the part. Yeah, Miami looks the part. And Malachi Tony hadn't scored a touchdown since we 1. Who gave me that stat?
Darius Butler
I think I shot you.
Pat McAfee
I sent D, but I get the Miami offense film breakdown that I'm gonna do for game day. I send it over to D Butt and AQ each week I get like what my clip is going to be. I send it to D Butt and aq. This week felt a little bit more personal for Darius. There's a little personal stats here, little personal ideas in there and big play waiting to happen. Is what you called Malachi Tony, the rookie freshman over there?
Darius Butler
Yeah, we are. We all saw him week one against Notre Dame. They even called back probably his best touchdown play with the illegal motion or whatever it was. But yeah, he is a big play waiting to happen. Reminds me a lot of another Miami legend, our former teammate, Ty Hilton. And whenever he gets the ball, whether it's just a quick screen or deep ball down the field, he can make that type of play. And he does the dirty work too. He'll get in there and block. You saw on CJ Daniels screen that he took to the crib 10 made a huge block. So, yeah, they are a team that, that can win in a variety of ways. They can run the ball down your throat, they can air it out. And then on defense, Ruben Bane and Mestadore, I mean, they are just monsters. So dbs, if the dbs can show up and continue to make those plays on the back end, this team will be very, very tough to beat. Now, ideally for Miami Hurricanes fans, we'll have Miami and we'll have Ohio State and then they'll meet in the national championship, get back and then we'll switch.
Pat McAfee
Revenge.
Darius Butler
Sweet revenge. Sweet, sweet revenge. A.J. hawk. And I'm looking forward to it because Ohio State had another, you know, monster blowout as well.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. So I actually said a couple times on game day because it was my job to talk about that game. Hey, don't let Minnesota give Ohio State.
AP Tone
You said PJ Flex like golf. I appreciate that. That was good.
Pat McAfee
Isn't that right, though?
AP Tone
One good shot. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
There's. There's like one good thing that happens and it brings you back for the next year. It's like this could be the big thing. Now, was I saying that strictly because I was to talk about that particular game and what should I say about that particular game?
Darius Butler
Game.
Pat McAfee
Other than that. But for Ohio State, just go out and handle business the way they did. I mean, that says a lot about your team. Yep. Traveled to Washington last year or last week. That's a long trip. You just killed a team that had a 22 home game win streak. You beat their soul out.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And then he got Minnesota just waiting for you. Kind of looming, lingering. Are you going to go ahead and let this one kind of slip past the goalie? They bury him. AJ Number one team in the country still, for good reason.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, they're in like a weird spot that, like where the. You're almost using games as a, you know, an elevated practice for your team, like work on certain things. That's not like a disrespectful thing. Like Minnesota is a good team. They really are. But you have so much talent. I guess when your defense is playing so well, you don't have that as much pressure on your offense. And yeah, I mean, you can't say enough about Matt Patricia and the studs that Ohio State has on defense because they are, they are very fun to watch, fundamentally sound, fast as lightning and super physical.
Pat McAfee
They're averaging five and a half points per game going into this game. It's dropped down to five now, I believe is where it's at. They're giving up only five points per game. Not even a touchdown, let alone an extra point. That's what they're happening. And then I rattled off some of the names. This was Tone, Dig Special. Going into game day, he's like, hey, this defense might be best of all time. And then you just think of the names that are still there. Sonny Styles, obviously, you got Caleb Dons and all the boys there. It's just like it's a horse.
A.J. Hawk
Reese, number eight, Arbo Reese, there's a guy that keeps showing his closing speed on Twitter, showing clips of him. The guy, not only is he. I think he's like 6'4, 235, can run like a madman. Like, just so he's such a good player.
Pat McAfee
Sean Perkins, legend at Ohio State. Before first game day, I'm walking on this stage, I go, hey, what do I. Who. Just one last thing, like, for me to say up there. I'm always asking the local people, like, hey, what is something? And he said, number eight, Arvell Reese is the one. And I go, okay. And I completely forget about it. I completely forget about it. I think he had five sacks or something on that day, or four.
A.J. Hawk
He had a big night.
Darius Butler
Yeah, big day.
Pat McAfee
He went, like, absolutely crazy. And I'm like, oh, my God, I could have looked like a genius. Sean Perkins told me this guy literally going into this. He said that this was. That's literally what he said to me. He was like. Because all the local people know more than, like, you're going to be able to find, like, the local. Sean works for the Buckeyes, has for, like, 30 years. So he loves the team and he's taking care of us a lot. We love that particular guy. But at all these places, you, like, run into somebody, that motherfucker's gonna have more info on the shit that's going on. If you catch the right person than any of the things you can find on the Internet or any of the highlights, it's like, well, actually, this guy, he. He's the boy of Ba Ba Ba who's with Ba Ba Ba. So he's gonna get more opportunities than this guy. This guy, though, has never, never quit. Just continue to fight. Like, those types of things come from the local fans. Sean told me about number eight. He was like, he's the one. And he certainly has the big question.
AP Tone
About the Ohio State defense coming of the year was they lost. You know, they lost. They lost all four starting defensive linemen, stuff like that. And then. Yeah, and the coordinator. And they're like, oh, they're going to be. Yes, the Arvell Reese, Kaden Curry, I think, has five sacks. So, like, they just. They just got him waiting in the wings.
Pat McAfee
And Ryan Day, the way he's talking. I like the way he's talking. Yeah, he talked about. And a lot of people are saying it's a new Ryan Day, but he's basically talking about, like, right now.
A.J. Hawk
Think about how. Think about how you're on those dudes. Dudes every single day because they are so good and everyone's pumping them up. Like I bet he is coaching those boys. Tough practice is not easy over there.
Pat McAfee
I assume he's called a lot of people. Saban dynasty people. Yeah. Hey, listen, how do I. Kirby, what is the goal? Kirby. Bill.
Darius Butler
Bill.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And New England.
Connor Rogers
Well, yeah, I was gonna say Bill and UNC is an absolute. You know, I already did my calling for a thing. I don't want to do it to Bill too.
Pat McAfee
Man.
Ty Schmidt
That was. It was just sad though how after you guys talked about, talk to him on game day and you know, it's like, okay, here we go, here we go. And then Clemson first place. It's like a 75 yard touchdown on the first place. Just like, oh boy, here we go again.
Pat McAfee
And they really stink.
Ty Schmidt
They do, dude.
Darius Butler
So bad. I think he already has more 25 point losses than like Mack Brown had in his whole run, which is crazy to think about. But yeah, I mean it's everything. We kind of saw that. I mean at least I saw that one coming with Clemson coming in one and three.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Almost dabo getting his name.
Darius Butler
Yeah, yeah, it was. It was almost like a get right game. It. I mean it sucks to see Belichick in that type of.
A.J. Hawk
Is there any hope? Do they have any hope?
Darius Butler
No.
Pat McAfee
Oh, hold on. I called some source says and because Bill said at the end of the interview with us on game day, he said we're just trying to get a recruiting class. We haven't even had a recruiting class class yet. I think there is a thought that their recruiting classes through the draft is how that's kind of being viewed. Remember, high school is like draft free agency is the transfer portal. I think they feel like they got to build culture through draft kind of is how they're thinking. So I think they are very focused on recruiting and there's a chance that the sales pitch is like, hey, you could be the one that helps us turn this. You can get playing time. So they think they're going to do. I think this is not directly from horse's mouth mouth, but this is pretty close there. It's like they still very much believe like, yes, it's going to take some time. He even answered to me like it's a process. Yep. It's going to take longer than we thought it was. But I think they're trying to build through recruiting when you're hearing a lot of other people potentially transfer portal stuff. So is it. Will it be a viable option? We shall see.
Darius Butler
That's what Clemson is trying to do, right?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Darius Butler
And they get the cream of the crop. So when you're. When you're playing, when you're talking, think everything you're doing at the college level is recruiting. So, like that game, it maybe had some big time recruits there. Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
So, like, they think they could be the change.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, but I always. I always get worried about the. Hey, it's. It's going to be a process. We knew it was going to take time. It's like, well, bill, you're not 35. You're damn near 75. So like, I. I don't know. Like that. I don't think that's what anyone was signing up for. Like, hey, we knew this was going to take five years.
Pat McAfee
We did, though, didn't we?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, yeah, but. But I think there was maybe.
Darius Butler
Remember we looked at the schedule precinct.
Ty Schmidt
They might win nine games this year.
AP Tone
Very nice schedule.
Pat McAfee
Not me.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, I think we all.
A.J. Hawk
And then are people showing up the home games.
Ty Schmidt
It looked like there was a decent amount of people there.
Pat McAfee
I mean, not the end.
Ty Schmidt
Well.
AP Tone
They also. They kept running an interview of a student. I don't know if you guys kept seeing this. It was hilarious.
Pat McAfee
I did not. What happened?
AP Tone
They were interviewing a student going to break, and the student was like, I was here for the TCU game. And this. It's so bad.
Pat McAfee
It was.
Darius Butler
It's the worst moment on the stadium.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, yeah.
Pat McAfee
The.
AP Tone
They said it's the worst moment I've had on campus. And I. I failed my physics class or something.
Darius Butler
I felt midterms before. Yikes.
Pat McAfee
Hold on. Is this the interview right here that we're showing? No, this is not it. Okay.
Darius Butler
It was weird.
Pat McAfee
It was kind of like it was on the stadium.
Darius Butler
It was on the broadcast. Yeah, it was a cut away from the broadcast, probably like eight seconds. And then she was like, muted for maybe like, there it is.
Pat McAfee
There it is. We found it, Bruce.
Darius Butler
It Making moves.
Pat McAfee
TCU was.
Ty Schmidt
I went to that game and that was.
Adam Schefter
That was one of the saddest feelings.
Pat McAfee
I've had in university so far.
Ty Schmidt
And I've failed midterms before, so it's saying something.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, boy.
Pat McAfee
Why did run that?
A.J. Hawk
Why you run that?
Pat McAfee
Holy. Who found that? Hey, go out and get bad quotes about this thing.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
This game. Imagine a producer going, this game might be a blowout. We're gonna need late. Go get content. Go see how people feel.
Darius Butler
You know who it is.
Pat McAfee
There's a chance because, I mean, when.
Darius Butler
Bill was on the top of the mountain, you know, he didn't have the Greatest relationship with a lot of media people. So people behind the scenes now and guys now they're gonna, they're gonna take that opportunity for sure.
Pat McAfee
Yeah a lot of opportunities too especially the more and more we learned about everything but. But hey it's process. That's right. Rich Rodriguez pitching the same thing. Okay.
Connor Rogers
Yeah but I believe that one done it cuz he's done it before.
AP Tone
Yeah but Rich keeps playing good football teams.
Pat McAfee
BYU is really good football team. BYU is a real Utah is a good football team. Ohio University with Navaro playing quarterbacks good football State this weekend especially Athens Ohio. That's pit tough place. It's a great football team. We beat him.
AP Tone
They won 60 nothing this weekend.
Pat McAfee
So yeah actually new quarterback. You saw that.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
That's crazy for everything that Holstein has done for them for them to just go to new quarterback is wild but I guess that's more world they probably made a lot of problems a good bit of change as well.
AP Tone
I heard he thought he was like number one in the country and turnover worthy plays or something like that.
Pat McAfee
Well I'm sure that's a real stat.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Which we all know is good. Did you hear a Conor earlier caller?
Connor Rogers
I'm and I have so much left.
Pat McAfee
To say no, no, no. But I'm not gonna.
Connor Rogers
Okay. I'm gonna move forward. That's right And I'm just, I'm just glad it's out there that the entire and again I'm not saying this sarcastically. The entire 120 replies to My tweet all said yes, we need a change. So usually it's like a good you talk about it's like a good set sample size and I'm not saying focus group. There's a good focus group. So right now it's 120 to 0x.
AP Tone
Does lean a little negative though sometimes.
Pat McAfee
Once in a while. Yeah there was even a little bit of heat on the so I let coach Saban go last. I was gonna walk out right after him. I thought that was a bad play. I didn't like that he was going to walk out like third or whatever.
Darius Butler
Smart.
Pat McAfee
You built this entire place. But he also couldn't hear anything so I was like yelling for him. The way they have it set up backstage now too is a lot of people, a lot of cameras. So like as soon as you exit the production me you are we're in, we're on which is life and everything like that. So that type of decision I should have I guess thought ahead and been like hey coach, you should go out here last because obviously he doesn't know that. But boy, at this moment he's walking up there and all that's going through my head is full panic. Like, whoa, whoa, whoa. No way am I following. I'm following Nick Saban. No fucking way. In Alabama. That is literally what's going through my head. It's like, no, no, no, I am not following you, brother. You. There is no chance of that happening. Let me go ahead and get the hell out of the way, basically. And then when he went up there, it was awesome. And I saw him smile and take it in, you know, because I think there was a lot of reminiscing obviously. And he's like a very much. What's next? What's next? Oh, 100 million dollar facility we're building for Nick's kids to take care of the next generation and everything like that in the city. Oh, this also happened. This also happened. Yeah. Like, he is still giving back and always on like the next thing. Focus. But like, what him and Ms. Terry have done to that city and what he has obviously brought to that city was special. And watching him get that pop at the end was cool, man. That's like one of those really cool lucky. I. I got goosebumps and I almost started crying watching this place like, go crazy for him and him like, like smile and like wave for a bit. It's like, yeah, dude, these. You. You mean a lot to these. I hope you understand.
AP Tone
And that video of, was that you recording him for Dixieland?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
That was awesome.
Pat McAfee
You think that's the first time that.
AP Tone
He'S ever sung it out loud and.
Pat McAfee
Oh, maybe in Tennessee too. No, we were there. Yeah.
AP Tone
But like, that was the first time I've ever seen like, cuz on the sideline. He's not singing it, you know, like, like that's probably like one of the first times where he's actually saying the word.
Pat McAfee
So they say, oh, he says X worst.
Darius Butler
Yeah, a lot of people love that. I love that he's. That he's getting his flowers while, you know, we always say, hey, give people their flowers while they can still smell them.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Darius Butler
And like the fact that he is this legend and he's still, completely still with it in there and he's getting all his flowers and all. Not only in Bama, obviously in Bama, in the house that he built, but just college football in general now. Being on game day with you guys like that, kicking off the. The freaking weekend every, like, it's awesome in that hallway. Y' all in into that road tie Friday show. That was sick.
Pat McAfee
Just rebuilt that up.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And once again they're using money that was brought in by, you know. But Kayin's got his own team there. Yeah, they have their Ty Simpson dope. I talked to Josh me and chat. Yep, great to see him. How was that restaurant, Raymond? Jam. Yeah. Ray Jammer got good grits around here. Get a little bacon there. Get a little bit of this, couple eggs. You know, Josh J. Was amazing. He had a mug. I didn't see anybody else in there with a mug of coffee. I. I got like a plastic cup. Sure. Yeah.
Connor Rogers
Normal. Like a normal cup of coffee.
Pat McAfee
Had a mug of coffee in there. I think he always. Friday I'll come in here, get breakfast in my laser Rama Jammer. Josh Chapman, four time national champion, two time as a player, two time as staff slash coach down there. Still with the team, obviously living legend. But I was asking him while we're at Rama Jama about the team and he talked because he's around him every single day. Player development. He was like Ty Simpson, like this guy, real leader, man. He. He thinks very, very highly of who Ty is as not only quarterback, but who he is as a player and person off the field and how he leads. And he said he's got a lot of nick in him. This guy's got a lot of savings. Wow. And then he also has obviously Kaylin and Grub with their offense, you know, is very. He's got a good handle. Sure. On the offense as well. Well. And he can move better, I think, than a lot of people initially look at him think it is. He's. He's a player. Ty Simpson player. And I think if they go it's going to be because of him. And I think he's the right guy is what everybody said.
Connor Rogers
And everyone talks about Ryan Williams, but this year you could argue Jeremy Bernard has been their best receiver. He scored in damn near every single game.
Pat McAfee
And Isaiah Horton, also the number one. He looks the part. He had early drop stuck with it. He's like. I mean he is.
Ty Schmidt
Chiz loves freak show.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, they got. They have it all still down there, you know. Yeah, they still have it all. But I did.
A.J. Hawk
I saw Ty Simpson. Sorry, I told. I saw Ty Simpson early in that game, look to the sideline and started yelling and like hitting his chest like, hey, let me throw this thing. Like basically open it up. Let me take over this game. It was. That was awesome to see, honestly. I know. I heard you talk about what. What Chap said about him. That makes me feel much better about him because I would, you know, if you're not around him, you don't know. You just know what you see on tv. But when I see how fire he is and how much of a leader he is, like, yeah, these dudes have a chapter.
Pat McAfee
And the way his accuracy is his thing. Like, you start thinking about Sunday with him whenever you're watching him, especially with the way he's firing and everything, you start thinking to yourself, like, this is Sunday type quarterback right here. And nobody had him on any preseason rankings. Nope, nobody.
AP Tone
It was a question mark.
Pat McAfee
What a quarterback.
AP Tone
Yeah, because we just didn't know.
Pat McAfee
He's a guy. Good for Alabama, man. Hell yeah. That was fun to be a part of down there. I don't know if you saw me in Turbo. Did you see me in Turbo, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
Turbo? I don't know.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, Turbo had to sign young boy. Oh, I saw this.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Learned today.
A.J. Hawk
That was good. He beat you, huh?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he was getting after me too. He said he was gonna put me down and I said, excuse me, I'm gonna put you down. Actually, I'm gonna put you down a little. Turbo and you know, got a chance to run a new math wars before I head out of there. And you know, Turbo might got the best of me this time, but should.
AP Tone
Have chopped him across his chest.
Pat McAfee
Well, almost. Yeah. Almost sent his sternum to his spine. I thought about it, but after experiencing the power of Turbo right there in my hand. Yeah, he got me right there.
Ty Schmidt
He got Turbo.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, that's Turbo football right there. Hurt my elbow. Still dinged up, Tom.
A.J. Hawk
You need to tell me, John.
Pat McAfee
Maybe. Yeah. Well, I think it's tennis, actually.
Ty Schmidt
Could be.
Pat McAfee
I think it's tennis elbow.
AP Tone
Not the full UCs.
Pat McAfee
I got it checked out. I got checked out by a dog. That's. That's normally what follows an interaction action with Turbo arm wrestling trip to the doctor. Yeah. Yeah. And I did it. You arm wrestle Turbo, you might as well book a one way trip to the doctor, Check out what's going on with your elbow. And I did. He said it's tennis elbow I just have to work on. Okay. But you know, I thought the move was you gotta.
AP Tone
You gotta break the wrist.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. You gotta break them down.
Darius Butler
It didn't matter what you did there.
Pat McAfee
I know, I tried. He got in there early too. He locks me up.
Ty Schmidt
He go over the top on you?
Pat McAfee
Well, yeah, but he went over top early with his grip.
Ty Schmidt
Okay.
Pat McAfee
You know, it's. The grip is a big part of it.
A.J. Hawk
That's what he's doing.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
So Turbo is a vet.
AP Tone
Turbo football.
Pat McAfee
I should have brought the strap, actually.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And say, hey, I don't like the grip. I don't like the grip. We need neutral grip here as opposed to what you're doing with a strong arm there. But it also could have been because we're doing it on my knee.
Darius Butler
Could have been.
Ty Schmidt
Could have been.
Pat McAfee
But he got the good grip early. I felt it. Turbo kind of alpha and me quickly and then off the jump, too. And I was the one doing the countdown. I don't know how he had to snap count so much better than me. That thing was early strain and he took it home. That's a lot of conditioning. That's a lot of cardio. I got it.
AP Tone
Shout out, Turbo.
Darius Butler
Shout out, Turbo.
Pat McAfee
Even that shoe untied. And he did it.
Ty Schmidt
Wow.
Connor Rogers
Good moxie.
AP Tone
You said it.
Pat McAfee
10 years old. 10 years old.
Darius Butler
That's awesome. How was. How's Theo? Theo Vaughn.
Pat McAfee
I thought it was hilarious. I saw some people obviously utilizing the opportunity. Opportunity to take a shot Theo, which I don't love. They do that to me all the time. We put together a good little clip of all of his things.
Darius Butler
Still bringing it.
Pat McAfee
Still bringing. Knew what he was talking about. He's a weapon and had something for every game, you know? Then he did get off track one time. What is the game?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
And that's the best part.
Darius Butler
When she does that.
Pat McAfee
Virginia. Got it. Got it. Okay. Yeah. How about him? One time I said something to his. I'm gonna make my pick right now.
Connor Rogers
Yeah. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Hold on. That's okay. Yeah. You do what you got to do there. Then out of nowhere, squirrel. Pavia.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I got Javi Pavia down here. End up in jail tonight. Free to Pavia's.
Connor Rogers
Yeah. Tell us backwards.
Pat McAfee
They're not even in jail yet, bro. Yeah. But free them. He was. I enjoy Theo. I enjoyed.
Darius Butler
Yes. Before he came home.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Well, I see you again. Hopefully not. Oh, geez. Hey. Good burial by Jeff. Great. Just in real time. In real time. That's a good. That's a great answer.
Darius Butler
He had a good response, too. He tweeted shoot or shoot.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Darius Butler
Respect.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I thought he was great. I thought it was a good time. It. It wasn't as hot as I thought.
Ty Schmidt
It was going to be huge.
Pat McAfee
Which is a big deal. Really big. The food. Unbelievable. All the food was unbelievable. Saban hosted something at his house.
A.J. Hawk
How'd it go?
Pat McAfee
Well, he's got Ferrari dealership ship, so he obviously has a Ferrari. This thing. Four different patches of America's best. Okay. Of course, the artist formerly known as red man. Red man, he had one up underneath like the radio, but it's a Ferrari, so there's not really a lot of space. There's a race car. It's not really, like, built like a SUV or whatever. Then he had three different ones in the door.
AP Tone
Were they all. Were they all the brown flavor or was any green greens in there?
Pat McAfee
All brown flavored, sugar free. Three in here. Okay. One up here. Then a double styrofoam cup in the middle. Right. Clearly spitter. Yes. And it's just like anywhere he reaches in that car, there is at least a pouch. And I thought that was hysterical. And I asked him, I said, you know, how long have you been. He said, straight face. Seventh grade. So I think there's maybe. There's maybe no other moth that has had more America's best in it. Slash. Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
He ain't calling it America's best. I know that. He's also confirmed the only human being on the world who probably has just shreds of red man laying around. A Ferrari.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Confirmed.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. It's not the low. It's not the low Ferrari either. This is one of the.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, right, of course.
Pat McAfee
Open that door. Open that door. Literally looked in there. First thing I see is just all the. All of them just in the door. And then I look in there. There's one there. And then I see the styrofoam come. I'm like, it's a nice car, for sure. This is awesome that you are still just guy from West Virginia here, you know, just getting there. What? Yeah. What are we talking about? And then he's got one in there at the time. He's a legend. Most relatable goat that I've ever encountered, if I had to guess. And he also gave Gumpy a little bit. And Gumpy took up the opportunity at.
Connor Rogers
Dinner, you know, had to have it in.
AP Tone
Had to do it whole time.
Pat McAfee
Same as coach.
AP Tone
As soon as he was done with.
Pat McAfee
It, I was done with it.
Connor Rogers
Way to represent a lot of juice in there.
AP Tone
Oh, buddy, there's a lot.
Pat McAfee
He offered the bag. We were sitting, just finished dinner at the dinner table.
Ty Schmidt
I was like, have to do it.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. He literally pulled it out, and he goes, gump, you want some? And Gumpy app. Stands up.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Got those feet dangling.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
Can I keep this? Can I keep this?
Pat McAfee
He looked like a professional, too. Look like a Gumpy. Real.
AP Tone
Took me back.
Pat McAfee
He did. He did great. I Busted my phone out as soon as I could.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Moment. It's a moment.
Darius Butler
All done.
Pat McAfee
I got. I got the entire interact, the handoff, the hand in. Love it. The pack in the pack, this side, the whole thing. Yeah, it was a good moment. The Sabins are good people. They are really good people. It's amazing that they were able to be so successful and still remain. You know what I mean?
Darius Butler
The people they.
Connor Rogers
The people they work with are such good people. People too, like Miss Amy you talk.
Darius Butler
About all the time.
Connor Rogers
She's amazing. Like, they're surrounded by great people too.
Pat McAfee
Ms. Amy's a weapon. Ms. Katie, we hung around this weekend. Assistant. Awesome. Let's see who else up there.
A.J. Hawk
I don't think you could be a turd and hang around the Saban.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Coaching. Look at the coaching tree that this guy has produced. Like, he knows how to. He knows how to surround him with good people.
Pat McAfee
Agreed. Yeah, he's. He's first class. Lucky to be up there with him. Okay, aj, tonight is a big one for you and me, okay? I had a rough week last weekend. You won that one. And then this weekend you're seeing the board in impeccable fashion. Wow. 10 and 3 against the spread. This isn't just straight up. Now I'm nine and four, so that's.
Ty Schmidt
A pretty good weekend.
Pat McAfee
What you can see there is a one pick swing. That's funny because there's only one pick. Let's. Wow. D. Butch, we will hopefully have you help us out a little bit here. Who do you like? How do you like it? With the Kansas City Chiefs going into DU as three and a half point favorites, it was Travis Kelsey's birthday yesterday. Happy birthday, Travis. We learned a lot about Travis and it is Trevor Lawrence's birthday today. What? Happy birthday, Trevor Lawrence. Travis's birthday yesterday. Trevor's birthday today. Life of a showgirl. We learned a lot about Travis and a good thing just a few days ago. So the off field vibes, I honestly, I think it swings a little bit in Travis's favor. But anytime you got a birthday game, obviously you got to take that into account. For Trevor Lawrence. Happy birthday to him. D. Butch, Florida.
Darius Butler
Boy, that's huge.
Pat McAfee
Jacksonville, you've had great games against. Against the Jaguars.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
In prime time in Jacksonville.
Darius Butler
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Now we're back to prime time. Jacksonville hosting. Who's maybe in the middle of a dynastic run. The Kansas City Chiefs. How do you see it going?
Darius Butler
You know what, the Jags are kind of outperforming where we thought they would be at this point. And I would say the opposite for the Chiefs. We probably expected them to be doing a little bit better. The battle of the birthdays with Trevor being home. Maybe he went out last night, got got two boozed up.
Connor Rogers
Trav, he's a father.
Darius Butler
Travis is on the road. Wifey's doing great things. A girl got a great album out, doing great numbers. I just think the vibes are too high. You got the plate here too. That was a big point. That kind of put me over the edge. So I got the Chiefs on the road covering three and a half against the Jacks.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I believe Taylor Swift's movie about her album was the number one movie of the weekend.
Darius Butler
Of course I heard it.
Connor Rogers
It was amazing.
Pat McAfee
Wait, I saw.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Darius Butler
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Oh, no, no.
Connor Rogers
Good call. Actually, Yeah, I saw Smash machine got like 60 or 70 million.
Pat McAfee
No, it did not. It. But that's a tough weekend to debut movie.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Taylor Swift decides to come into the movie world. Same exact weekend. That's not that it's the same demo, but any movie that's going out that weekend is tough. That's very tough. But also 15 minutes to innovation. Piece of art. Let's not worry about what we're opening week.
Connor Rogers
I'm pumped to see.
Pat McAfee
Pumped to see any of it. Also, whenever it starts streaming, we will all watch it. But on that note, Taylor Swift won the music and the movies. Taylor or Travis gonna win the football on Monday night. AJ who do you like? How do you like it, man?
A.J. Hawk
I know you most likely will be picking opposite of what I pick. I. I understand that's how it works. I have a feeling I. I know where you are leaning, but I like Jacksonville on this one. I really do, man. Give me Jacksonville.
Connor Rogers
What?
A.J. Hawk
Plus three and a half. Tone, is that the best I can get?
Ty Schmidt
Yes, sir.
Pat McAfee
All right. You got Jacksonville plus three and a half. I guess I got the Kansas City Chiefs minus three and a half. And then A.J. do you think it's going to go over or under 45 and a half? Just in case we're going to break a tie here.
A.J. Hawk
Give me the over.
Pat McAfee
I like the over too. We'll take a tie. We'll take a tie.
Connor Rogers
You sure? Because the Jags. The Jags defense has kind of been holding teams.
Pat McAfee
Pretty nothing and spec. I'll take the under as well. I'll take the under as well. So you got the over in the Jaguar. I got the under in Kansas City.
A.J. Hawk
All right.
Pat McAfee
All right.
AP Tone
Both teams are 2 and 2 to the over and under.
Pat McAfee
Hey, fans, welcome Back to Fansville's cheers and tears. Okay, so like everybody deals with losing, right? To a rival and a last second field goal, whatever. It's fine. I'm totally fine. But I cope with losing with an ice cold Dr. Pepper. Mmm. Those 23 flavors are like so delicious. They totally wash away the pain of your college football team taking a big fat L. College football. It's a pepper thing.
Darius Butler
You ever show up late to the.
Pat McAfee
Game and your friends already saved your.
Darius Butler
Seat, your drink, even a plate that's.
Pat McAfee
Looking out, that's having your back. And that's exactly what AT&T does with the AT&T guarantee.
Connor Rogers
They know staying connected matters.
Pat McAfee
That's why AT&T has connectivity you depend on, guaranteed. Or they'll proactively make it right. Just like that friend who takes care of things before you even ask. AT&T connecting changes everything. Terms and conditions apply. Visit att.com guarantee for details. Football. Hey, it's magical. That's AJ Hawk. The toxic tables here at Boston Connor. And that Ty Schmidt, one half of the Hammer Cowboys. AP Tony is here. Nine year NFL vet Darius J. Butler is here. And ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived at the time that we all enjoy. It is time to hear how sports fans from around the globe feel. Not just in the NFL on this particular week, but also in college football and even a little bit of baseball action. What I did is put out a tweet saying, hey, listen, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'd like to check the temperature of some of these fan bases. A.J. you know, I want to know know what the actual fans feel about their actual programs. You know What I'm saying, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
I know exactly what you're saying. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
So I put out a bird call. I say, excuse me, could you help me out here? I'd like to learn a little bit about how you feel about your team. It ended up being number one trend on X. We appreciate everybody and the best ones to make the show. All you got to use is the hashtag, I don't want to overreact. Ty goes through. Let's go through him. Congrats, Ty. Another great week, I've heard.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. Personally, I think this is the best week to date.
Pat McAfee
Okay, this is from Boston, Connor. Guy looks like a legend. Ha. Sorry, Buffalo just got a call from the window cleaners. They told me yours is closed. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact. But you're saying that Windows Don Drake May has showed up and it's now his time to get a Drafty window seal.
Connor Rogers
I mean, look, I just think they're. I. I won't say it's close, but it feels as though it is starting to shut. You know, Drake May is approaching one of those, you know, quarterbacks that could be elite. You know, I don't know if he is yet. I think Josh Allen has a. A lot to do with, you know, that.
Pat McAfee
I forgot to pull up the Jose.
Connor Rogers
Cuervo before this started, but. But no, it just seems as though Drake May is on that kind of trajectory. Like Josh Allen, as unbelievable as he is is, there really isn't a comparison between his second year and Drake May. Second year, Drake May is like very far along, it feels like already. And it's really all about this guy. I'm gonna be honest. After. I don't know if you saw the, like, after reaction to the 52 yarder, but Drake May, like pops up from the bench. He's like so pumped, going nuts. He's literally going over to Vrabel to give him a hug. Yeah, right here. And you can see Drake. Drake basically just stopping his steps because Rabel tells him, like, hey, still 13 seconds left right here. Yes, just stop.
A.J. Hawk
Drink.
Pat McAfee
Just stop, Drake.
Connor Rogers
And that's exactly what it's all about. Like our culture wasn't that and now it's coming back and the Bills window isn't closed. But the fact that they didn't go to a Super bowl when in six.
A.J. Hawk
Years when the division was just a.
Connor Rogers
Bunch of pieces of shit, boy, oh boy, that's. That's gonna be a tough pill to swallow for Buffalo.
Pat McAfee
Big win for the New England Patriots. And Clyde Christensen, former quarterback coach of mine, was with Drake May in his final year down in North Carolina, which was actually his red shirt sophomore season at North Carolina. And Clyde Christiansen said, this guy's got a lot of painting in him. Right? But, but, but much more athletic. I mean, much more athletic. This is. He said, this is the guy. D. But why is this the one that you need to run on repeat to show people, people that Drake Ma do.
Darius Butler
I mean, just when you talk about a handful of quarterbacks, we talk about Lamar Jackson, we talk about Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, obviously there's only a H, Justin Herbert, a handful of quarterbacks that can make this type of throw on the run, on the sideline. Unbelievable. And you see him do this kind of time and time again. And for him to be where he is in just his second year. I know con man didn't give a lot of credit to Josh McDaniels but I will give a ton of of credit to Josh McDaniels because if you watch the tape throughout the year for him to be leading the league completion percentage, you didn't expect that for Drake May coming out. You expect a lot of people compared him to Josh Allen. I don't know if you guys remember when this draft, when it was 1, 2, 3 at the top, I said, hey, this would be my guy, that I would take one. Caleb, I think he will be great.
Pat McAfee
You golfed with him.
Connor Rogers
T knew.
Pat McAfee
And what Clyde said, I mean you said family.
AP Tone
You said the family. You like the family.
Darius Butler
I like, like it's not just the quarterback. You know, this is where everybody, A.J. everybody knows this. It's not just the player. It's about the people around him as well. You could tell he was a humble guy. He was a guy that was always kept in check. He was the younger brother who got beat up on and kind of an all shucks young kid. And you just see him growing up. And I think that does have a lot to do with obviously Mike Vrabel, but the coaches around him. Stefan Diggs, I think he's been a great teammate as well. So yeah, I think the trajectory is definitely up. And Caleb and Jaden are obviously very good talents as well.
Pat McAfee
We'll see with Caleb, he looked great. Could continue. We shall see. Jaden, obviously a guy. Deepud said, hey, did you see that throw last night? It's the one. And it was like five different throws from Drake May pop up in our mind. And that's like this dude's making massive plays. Even last year, whenever they sucked, Connor was like, we got a quarterback. Our team stinks, but we got a quarterback. Special time for New England again. It feels like with Rabes at the.
A.J. Hawk
Helmet J there is, there's another throw that they were I believe maybe midway halfway through the third quarter, they're backed up third and seven. Drake May gets flush from the pocket, completes the ball for a first down to Diggs on the sideline. I'm like all. I think they were up by three, maybe up 13, 10 at the time. But just like as far as flipping field position, keeping the ball like things like that. Drake seems to come up with those big plays. Like how many times we talk about quarterbacks where you're like, there's going to be a couple times, two, three, four times in this game when they need to convert, a big third down conversion. And Drake's team seems to be on fire with those right now.
Pat McAfee
Stefan Diggs becomes the first wide receiver since Julian Edelman in 2019 have back to back 100 yard receiving days. Remember there was a time where the wide receivers didn't even touch the ball in New England 6, 7, 8 straight week time where the wide receivers didn't even get the rock. And now it feels like they're special in offense. We assume defense is going to be good.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, they're actually I believe statistically now 1, 1, 2 or 3. As far as as total yardage, James Cook has been over 100. He had less than 50 yards. And then Josh Allen obviously we forced him to throw an interception which Drake made it not. And then we forced two fumbles. I mean it's one of those things where like the team is now all out there. There's no, there's no like lingering training camp stuff. Gonzalez is out there. And the biggest thing, I mean you can talk about the five play, 74 yard touchdown drive to answer at after the Bills come out at halftime and walk down the field and score. That was huge. Two minutes left, 20 to 20, game on the line. What happens like that's when you find out if you have a quarterback or not. And we won.
Pat McAfee
We got a guy. We got a guy. He makes a huge throw. Everybody's talking about that whole shot throw being the. I watched Teddy Brusky like freak out this morning. So we got a guy. We got a guy. We got a guy. And the biggest moment, hardest defense. He hits the hardest throw in a huge situation on the road and then your kicker hits this 52 yard, I think hits the top of the net. That just hit the net up there. Yeah, that ball Borealis out of Miami. His older brother kicked in Miami before him and then now he's up there in New England. He absolutely destroys that football. Outside dead center. Outside dead. I mean you want to talk about having a clear mind rookie? Yeah. First time in this moment obviously with a massive AFC east division rival. Josh Allen, MVP on the other side Sunday Night Football. He's got eye black on and he is completely clear minded. Love everything about it. Congrats to the Patriots. Let's go to the next one here. Let's stand the afc. He's this one gumpy. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but that was the worst loss of the Mike McDaniel era and there's been some bad ones. Okay? Nothing will change because Steven Ross doesn't care enough to get rid of Chris Greer. This muppet, these knobs. Obviously the defense can't stop the run but they did force two turnovers. An offensive minded coach with a QB on a $212 million contract couldn't move the ball in five straight drives after going up 17 nothing. They'll tell you this team is going to figure it out. But they won't. We're four years into this then obviously. Incredible. Grand Theft Auto now, Gumpsh. Yesterday you were pretty bummed out. I did see that. I did see your little bummed out because you guys were doing it.
Ty Schmidt
You guys were doing it early. He was having a great time in the suite.
Pat McAfee
Goddamn.
AP Tone
It was over 17 nothing. We forced him to fourth and five in the fucking second quarter. The game was over. Five straight punts.
Pat McAfee
You know how hard that is when.
AP Tone
You'Re up 17 nothing on a team.
Pat McAfee
And your quarterback's getting $212 million. I understand. The defense stinks. We all knew the defense was going to stink.
Ty Schmidt
They're not getting paid.
Pat McAfee
We don't have.
AP Tone
We got an offensive minded coach like you just. It just can't happen. And it's going to continue to happen. McDaniel's not going anywhere. Tua's not going anywhere.
Pat McAfee
Just run it back next year. Xavier Legette became a guy yesterday for the Carolina Panthers.
Darius Butler
Debug I honestly.
Pat McAfee
And Bryce Young has a mental comeback under there. 17 points is nothing to sneeze at.
Darius Butler
Couldn't believe it happened. And it was absolute chaos yesterday across the NFL. But I couldn't believe you got Dal Dell.
Pat McAfee
That's gonna happen.
Darius Butler
That shouldn't happen. 200 yard and this happened to me. We had Jonah Gray who came out of them. What's his name?
Pat McAfee
Darl Rico.
Darius Butler
That's the Cowboy. Former Cowboy.
Ty Schmidt
Right.
Darius Butler
Okay, I remember dude. But yeah, you can't give up 200 yards on the ground to one guy. Definitely can't give up a 17 point lead to all the points that Gump made. They will still be there. They'll run it back. Not only with Mike, not only with Tool. Chris Greer be there calling the shots as well. But yeah, this actually, this is really, really, really stunned.
Pat McAfee
A lot of hope and then absolutely nothing. It's kind of like what a Miami Dolphins fans entire season is like just in one game.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, certainly.
Pat McAfee
So good for you guys. Get a chance to experience a year's worth of stuff and emotions in one particular ball game against Carolina Panthers.
Darius Butler
But silver lining, we are the only undefeated team in history.
Pat McAfee
1972 dolphins. Thank you. Don Shula, take the tractor. Another round.
Darius Butler
Shout out to Mercury Morse.
Pat McAfee
Shout out to the Eagles and Bills.
AP Tone
He got A grandson in Lee.
Pat McAfee
I'm not sure, Shula. Oh, I'm not sure.
Ty Schmidt
Chris Shul D.C. of the Rams.
AP Tone
Bring him home.
Pat McAfee
That's what has to happen in here. That's what has to happen. Oh, that's what you want as the next head coach? He better have his cool shoes as McDaniel has. Did you see those little tags, AJ.
A.J. Hawk
What a flippy tag is? Yeah, like, that would be very annoying, I feel like, wouldn't it? I would rip that thing off. Especially after a loss.
AP Tone
Especially if you're not wearing full size pants either.
Pat McAfee
Well, they aren't full size. They're just fashionable.
AP Tone
Well, just. Just play.
Pat McAfee
Just coach, man. Just.
AP Tone
Just put a drive together.
Pat McAfee
We're up 17 nothing with waddle and Wallace and Tua and Hn and Ollie Gordon.
AP Tone
You have all the weapons in the world, man.
Pat McAfee
17 Nothing to the Panthers and you lose.
AP Tone
That's atrocious.
Pat McAfee
But the shoes looked cool.
Ty Schmidt
They did.
Connor Rogers
And in 1972, undefeated champions ever.
Ty Schmidt
Dude, it was awesome too. It was like a curb your enthusiasm episode. That video, you. You right before you see McDaniels, you hear someone like tip over like a dumpster or something. Someone's so pissed. And then him just walking. You just hear the little flaps of the tags on his shoes.
Pat McAfee
Oh, man. What was that thing? What was that thing? We were growing up. It was like the skip step. You remember that?
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Hop, skip or whatever you would have jump on. It's like he was doing that with his tag. Like he was like. Did you not see the way he was walking? That thing was.
Darius Butler
Oh, no.
A.J. Hawk
I agree. I see the visual because I used to try to do that little skip thing too when I was young and see how many could count. But yeah, for I think, I guess once you're losing and once you realize you lose this game, that thing in your brain, how would you not pay attention? I got this stupid. Back off my shoes.
Darius Butler
Everything bothers you.
Pat McAfee
So let me pull these pants down, I guess.
Darius Butler
Should have used that one.
Pat McAfee
Hey, good luck, bro. Pull it for you.
Darius Butler
Should have used that screenshot, him walking instead of the GTA one. That makes. Could just replace that whole. Oh, here we go again.
Pat McAfee
Let's go to our next overreaction. This one's from John Minidakis, also known as John Minkus, which is also known as Jimmy's. From Jimmy's famous seafood, Also known as the ones who had the parade for those cicadas that came out the earth. Remember they had a cicada parade whenever.
AP Tone
Covid too.
Pat McAfee
Right there's a chance. It was founded at one of their festivals. They also host the tail Goat, where they raised a bunch of money before Baltimore Ravens game. They also have golf outings every single year, I think raising millions of dollars for their community. They have the greatest crab cakes that I've ever had. Their food is impeccable. They're an American dream story.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
This guy. But also can't get too close to them. They'll celebrate cicadas. That's right.
AP Tone
They'll do the code.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
AP Tone
They always invite us to tailgate. I say, I spit on your tailgate.
Pat McAfee
You shouldn't say that.
AP Tone
That's what I do.
Pat McAfee
They're pretty rooted with the cicada thing. I didn't like that because those cicadas were keeping us up. Do you remember that?
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah, I do. Not so loud.
Pat McAfee
Watch these cicadas in our earth in Indianapolis, and I think a lot of places for 20 some years. And then all of a sudden, something happened, and they said, yup, now's the time. And they came out and these had a lot to say. They were saving everything for 25 years, and they were just out there. It was a buzz. It was a constant white noise in Indiana for, I don't know, maybe three weeks, four weeks. Yeah.
Darius Butler
Middle of the night, everything.
Pat McAfee
All. All day, all night, just signed, and then they all just died.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
It was like, thank God.
Darius Butler
What are these guys got to do with that?
Pat McAfee
They had a cicada parade. They had a cicada parade.
Darius Butler
I agree with everything you just said.
AP Tone
We spit on their tail goat.
Pat McAfee
Now, on that note, I don't think they actually had a cicada parade. I think we made that up. Up.
Ty Schmidt
No, they had a graphic for it, for sure. I don't know what. I don't know if they're actually celebrating it, but they definitely made mention of it.
Pat McAfee
If you're in Baltimore, you need to go to their place. They. They got a great bakery, too. Oh, the bakery. Hashtag. I don't want to overreact, but I'm wondering which brand of bleach tastes the best thanks to the 2025 Ravens. Jeez, you got so much good food over there. Don't be trying to find different flavors of bleach. Clorox. John, that's a Steelers fan. I didn't know that was coming. I thought maybe Gumpy might toss some things out. Oh. Let me tell you. Since 72 or whatever. But on that note, Ravens fans, that's a tough spot to be in. But, I mean, your top all of your stars. Hey, who's paid money? You're good players. All of them out. See, you don't have them. Good luck out there. And you're not playing your best. So good luck. Go out there, do your thing. And they're not. And Houston Texans, I think, are thanking the Ravens for this opportunity to showcase what they are, who they are, not only to the league, but to themselves. But this Ravens team's got to get it figured out. Schefter in the first hour basically said, look for Lamar, probably two more weeks of rest here because there's a buy coming up. Now, he didn't say that that was a definite, but he was just kind of forecasting and we know a lot of people in that building now. Good luck. That hasn't been fun.
AP Tone
Oh, there is a guy in there who used to DC them to top five defense who's just sitting, waiting in the wings to take over this defense, isn't he?
Pat McAfee
Let's get to another overreaction, shall we call it? Now? He's pretty Italian there. This one's from Lewis Roberts at Buddy Loveless. If you know, you know, hashtag. I don't want to overreact, but Nick Sirianni might be the first super bowl winning coach ever that no one can tell you exactly what he does. Doesn't run defense one to two Super Bowls without him calling you off. What does he do? Is a question from that John Lewis Roberts. Listen up, Light switch. I think he's a CEO. Yeah. I think he's a businessman. I think he's maybe trading a little. Little bitcoin, maybe a little crypto on the side. Yeah, Always working. Definitely mine.
Connor Rogers
Big Dom for sure.
Pat McAfee
No matter what. Definitely out there working, doing his thing. He's a CEO type, head head coach, aj. I don't know if anybody recognizes him as such, though. You know, like, why not, though?
A.J. Hawk
Why not? There's plenty of coaches like that that don't call the offense or defense.
Pat McAfee
I think it's because mostly he talks shit pretty loudly and sounds like a.
Ty Schmidt
Doofus from time to time.
Pat McAfee
Sometimes he'll say some things. Yeah. So I think people are like, so this guy's overseeing Vic Fangio?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Okay. And especially if it doesn't go well, you lose a game. First time, long time.
Adam Schefter
Right.
Pat McAfee
You lose a game, everybody's like, exactly. Just as we said. This guy. And I assume it's only going to get louder for Nick Sirianni. He knows that, though. He's in the kitchen. But I do appreciate Die Hard Eagles fans. They're going, what's this guy? I think some of these Eagles fans too thought to themselves, GM doesn't know what he's. He's supposed to be doing Accounting.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, exactly.
Pat McAfee
Wasn't that said by some people and.
Ty Schmidt
My lotta this guy's a rugby player.
Pat McAfee
Was that coming from the same account?
Ty Schmidt
It was, I believe.
Pat McAfee
I think.
AP Tone
Was there a lot of Sirianni or was it for.
Ty Schmidt
No, most. Mostly Kevin Patulo. People have. They've had it with this guy.
A.J. Hawk
Sakon got six carries. That right?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yes. That can't happen. Buddy Loveless, it was great to see you in there, bud. All right, let's go to the next one, shall we? This is from max@Max Gill3 hashtag. I don't want to overreact, but the culture the best football team in the league. Not even the Jag Austin, the media that daily crank it to the Chiefs, Bills, Eagles, etc. Can deny that the culture and unstoppable freight train of a team. Next stop, Super Bowl. That one. All aboard. Amen, Max. Nothing more needs to be said. Real deal. It's not a fun story for people to tell because it's Indianapolis, maybe a little smaller market. Going into the year, the fan poll on the athletic, which is the super active people on the Internet had 96% or something like 94% negative thoughts on how the season was going to go. Danny Dimes comes in here and wins the job. Yeah, right. They're going to be nothing. Yeah, right. We're something. And it's been since week one here. Danny Dimes is different. The vibe of the team is different. Tyler Warren is different. That defense we loaded up.
Darius Butler
Yep.
Pat McAfee
We got real playmakers that are making players for us. And Lou Annarumo's defense is perfect for us. It is our time. It feels like it every time we're in there now. Do I have a couple jack and diets? Maybe kind of boost that morale in that field. Certainly there's a lot of celebrating happening with the Colts on offense, defense and special teams. Gonna have to find a kicker. Spencer, we hope you're okay, but I'm a believer after watching them.
Darius Butler
Yeah, the expectations are huge. So coming into the season as a Dolphin fan expecting to probably suck. Coming in seasons of Raven fans probably expect the super bowl run. Coming into the season as a Colts fans, I just think you want to look somewhat decent, maybe make the playoffs. I don't care. I don't think anybody saw this coming. Should be 5, 0. If we don't beat ourselves against the Los Angeles Rams, who are. Who is a very good football player. So, yeah, every. Yeah. And, well, gotta play by the rules. And that's a tough Denver Broncos and he just beat an undefeated Eagles team, so that's a huge win. So, yeah, I think we look better than expected on all cylinders. Obviously got to figure out the kicking situation that will come into effect at some point. But yeah, all arrows are pointing up right now with the Colts.
Connor Rogers
Well, and you mentioned too, like, yeah, for, you know, on a national, you know, stage, whatever, the Colts might not be, you know, a great story because of all the other, you know, Mahomes and everything like that. But think about this. I mean, there's a chance the clocks get turned back here and it's Colts, Patriots, you know, in the playoffs, and that's kind of a nostalgic game. And then you think about on the other side, it's like, Lions, packers is a very, very viable option in the division or even the NFC Championship. Like, there are like, I still want to see Josh Allen in the playoffs. I definitely want to see. Actually, I need to see Lamar Jackson in the playoffs. I feel like they're. Feel like they're more of the Rams last year than the Niners, but it is one of those things where as the season goes on, they're like, are the Bengals, if they continue to crash, are they going to ship? You know, T. Higgins or Trey Hendrickson are both out of town because it didn't work. They need to pay defensive and offensive lineman. They don't have anybody.
Pat McAfee
And to go back to circle back to your first point about the Colts there, I think fans don't give Colts the credit at this point. You know, Colts get a win and fancy. Our team are like, what? We're losing to the Colts. Yeah, right. I don't think that's how this is going to go this year. Which leads to this one. This is from Charles Nation here at C Nation. Knows, Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but whoever thought Pete Carroll and Gino were the rejuvenation Vegas needed deserves a roundhouse kick to the fucking head. Pat's win was a fluke, and his Colts team just dressed us down so bad they should be charged with elder abuse. Hey, Mark, how many more dumbass losses like this before you wipe off the clown makeup? Bring Gruden back and overhaul this dumpster fire. We're in the first year of this.
Ty Schmidt
They suck.
Pat McAfee
Tom Brady's making all these decisions.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, he was part of the problem.
Pat McAfee
Allegedly. Potentially. We don't know it now at this point, but the Raiders lost to a great Colts team in a tough environment, 10am local time. And these people are crushing them.
A.J. Hawk
AJ they did. I mean, maybe the Raiders aren't, you know, aren't as bad as people may think, but maybe they are just as bad or worse than. I don't know. I can't really tell. But I think the Colts. The Colts are in a great spot, though. Just keep flying under the radar, go dominate. Like, these aren't fluke wins. They're having like, they are playing great. And I believe Fitzy said what fit in timing when it comes to quarterback play, and that's where Danny Dimes is right now. It feels like everything is kind of timed up for the right reason. He's around the right players, right coaches, and he is slinging it. Man, if they stay healthy, the Colts are absolutely a force to be reckoned with.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, the eye test is real. It's like you watch them and even like some of the really good teams, like, we just saw it happen with the Bills and the Saints, like, the Bills kind of, they played with their food a little bit early on here. The Colts have raised their play to play with with good teams and they've beat the out of the bad team, which is like, if you're a really good team, that's what you do. Like this. This game should have never been close and it wasn't. You know, the. The Raiders went right down, kick a field goal on the first drive, and then the Colts were like, all right, now we can. Let's go beat the out of them. And they did big, like, huge, big team.
Pat McAfee
An athletic team. Yeah, a fast team, physical. And Danny Dimes is always in control of the offense, which I think is all we ever needed, which is crazy to think about. We needed somebody that just knew what the. They were doing in the system, which is why Gardner had success. And then now with what Gardner was able to do, Danny Dimes can do that and, and he can move and, and. And it's like perfect for us.
Ty Schmidt
You mentioned it in the first hour to Fitz, too. It's like the incompletion where it's like he, you know, he missed him, but he threw it out of bounds like in years past when he's one with the Giants. Like, he throws that too far inside and it gets picked off. Like, even, like when he's not completing passes, he's not putting the ball in harm's way. Like it. There's not even. It used to be every time he Dropped back with the Giants. It's like he's going to get blindsided and there's going to be a sack fumble. There hasn't been like one of those this year.
Darius Butler
Yeah. And on the flip side to who. Who was the young. The person who put the tweet? The Raiders. Because okay, yeah, I was. I was a part of the problem. I thought Pete Carroll, spy tech, Tom Brady, Gino even moving over fresh start. They got Brock Bowers, they got Max Crosby went and drafted Genty. So I'm like, okay, they might have some here, maybe a playoff birth. I didn't expect a Super bowl run here, but I definitely did not expect them to stink this bad.
Connor Rogers
Turns out O line D line matters.
Darius Butler
O line D line matters.
Pat McAfee
So cool.
Darius Butler
He's so cool. He's so good. But I mean everything else straight to the Gino Geno looks terrible. Is he leading the league or top of the league?
Connor Rogers
Browning, I would assume, which is unlike.
AP Tone
Gino to throw interceptions.
Pat McAfee
What's that?
Connor Rogers
Well, the thing is after Week 1, the Patriots lost to the Raiders and it was. It was definitely a great game by Geno. But I remember seeing, you know, Quincy Avery and a bunch of guys saying real Hoopers know Geno Smith's great. But I, I'd argue real Hoopers know Geno Smith will throw for for 350 or 400 once in a season and then win seven games.
Pat McAfee
In Seattle a couple years ago. Now on that note, he has been turning the ball over and Carly or say no A.J. did you hear that?
A.J. Hawk
I did.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
That's pretty interesting. You'd say you told the room before.
Pat McAfee
The game Carly or say it was awesome Carly or say literally have a great chat with her. It was so cool of her and so nice of her. And I think, I don't know, it was nice for me to find out what the hell she was doing. But I think think she probably wanted like also, hey, I'm just charting plays here. Just charting plays here. And she talked about the difference between Lou Annarumo's defense and defensive years past about how many more options there are. Like, hey, we got more. The players got more options. So whenever a play is called in there, it's not just over. Like, hey, we got adjustments that can be made. Like, we got a lot and the defense is obviously thriving off that. And then she goes, we're thinking with the way Geno it comes out, we're in a good spot with who we have to get some Turner, we should get some interceptions. She said that we should get a. We didn't get any last week. We need those. We should get a couple. So I literally as soon as she leaves, I go, hey, she just said that we should get a couple picks. That's awesome that she's that deep into this entire thing. And then it happened. Like deflection in the red zone. Yeah, Deflection, interception. It's like, holy Carly. Her say's got a goddamn Doppler radar out there. She. Yeah, but she like what she's learning, what she's doing down there I think is very beneficial, you know, and she said, like, we're going to be hiring people here for a long time. Like, I need to know who's foolish. Like I need to. You know what I mean? I need. And I appreciate them going all in. Yes. By going all in and also staying out of the way too. But also providing whatever the you need. We paid a lot of money this offseason.
Darius Butler
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
We brought in a lot of money well spent on the defensive side.
Darius Butler
Very well spent, well spent. Did she hit her sprint sprigame or see him?
Pat McAfee
I don't know.
Ty Schmidt
I hope somewhere we won.
Pat McAfee
So whatever.
A.J. Hawk
She definitely did.
Pat McAfee
She did. She had these sweet boots on, boot shoes on. She had like these boot sho. It was kicking the stigma day. So she had these green, blue and white boots on. Shoe boot type things, you know, Cuz she got to be able to be mobile down there. Yeah, I can't wait to see her.
Darius Butler
Oh, Holly row.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Play off.
Darius Butler
Play off.
A.J. Hawk
A cut block.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Someone coming on the sidelines.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it's going to happen. Very, I mean, very athletic. These shoes, though, had big pad on the bottom. Somebody came jamming open the door. She's standing right there. Enough room for that thing to gain a little momentum.
Ty Schmidt
Sure.
Pat McAfee
And like I see in my head, oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God. Owner's about to get hit with door. Shoe stops it. No problem at all.
Ty Schmidt
Boom.
Pat McAfee
She goes, oh, I'm sorry. She says she's in the way. It's like, no, no, Carly. All these fucking. Myself included. We are all in your way right now. It's. We're in a good spot. The culture in a really good spot from top down. It's very, very lucky to be there. Let's go to Eric Fletcher at fletch27four. Hashtag. I don't want to react, but I swear on everything holy. If James Franklin is still in an office of his this Friday, I may have to just transfer out of this school. Yes. I could speak for 99.9 of the student body here. We're bummed out. We are bummed out here. I'm done with it. I speak for 99.9%. There's.01% somewhere. But we're bummed out. This is expectations conversations. We literally just had it with the Colts. Whenever you're expected to be great, especially with what the year you had and then you know your entire university is going in, you know they're spending money. If they're important positions, you still got people. Everybody's expecting the year to be different. And then they lose to Oregon. Penn State fans knew that was going to happen. That's what they'll say. They were optimistic, hopefully, but they were cautiously optimistic throughout it all. So whenever they lose to Oregon, they go, huh? Well, yeah, that's what we do. Then they go to ucla. Nobody's even thinking about the game. Staters, we beat ucla, obviously we still got everything in front of us here. Still got everything in front of us.
Darius Butler
24 and a half.
Pat McAfee
And then that game starts going away. He's going. And Penn State people are like, are you fucking me right now? Ucla. All we've heard is they can't sell any tickets and they're a laughingstock. Remember Nico I. Amaliava? Worst transfer in the history of transfers since the transfer portal was open. This guy going to UCLA to play in front of nobody for a terrible football team. That's what people, that was the narrative about ucla. Need to get that jib away from that sideline. And also security guy, we need you to be able to do what Carly Ursay is about doing there. Happy to see you're okay seemingly. But that's a huge, huge loss for the fans because what they think of UCLA is ass cheeks.
Ty Schmidt
And they.
Pat McAfee
And they are.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. So whenever you lose to an ass cheeks team, the natural reaction is we're actually the asshole here. Yeah. You know, it's worse. That is what they think. And that's where Penn State's at right now. That's where they're at and that's where they're going to be. And I think that's a tough loss for them at the end of the season to have any convo. Aj legit.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. You can't let one loss like bleed into another game. Like, I know there was a big, you know, the Oregon game, was it? Yeah. Like you said they did. Maybe they wanted to win, but they didn't fully expect to win that one. I guess fans, I don't know, they were hoping that they Would. But for that. It's a tough deal flying across the country, all that. But yeah, you can't let that happen. Penn State's, I mean, they were a couple plays away from the national championship last year.
Darius Butler
They.
A.J. Hawk
That's. That's the standard now. The fact you have two losses already and you have some tough games on the schedule looking forward, it's not great for them.
Pat McAfee
They gotta go to Iowa, brother, don't they?
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
And then they got Ohio State.
A.J. Hawk
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Then they got. I was looking at this.
AP Tone
I use on the schedule as well.
Pat McAfee
I believe they got a lot of games.
Connor Rogers
They might lose four games now, like four shoots. James, I don't know how that do you just make Jim Knowles the head coach just because he's the highest paid D.C. and maybe he would be a good head coach for him, like with.
Pat McAfee
How big their operation is.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
They got 70 people working in that building.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I mean just moving on from a head coach I think is a massive. I don't want to say massive undertaking, but it is a. Oh, yeah. With their operation that they have up there, that's a huge. That'd be a huge move. Everybody wants to do it, obviously. And James Franklin's had a lot of success up there, but he's also been there a long time and they haven't had as much success as obviously Ohio State has Michigan. Has Oregon came in? Yeah. Yeah.
Connor Rogers
When's their last Big Ten championship? That's my. Has he ever won the Big Ten championship?
Pat McAfee
No, never. Michigan, bro.
Connor Rogers
So he's. So he. So when we say like he's had a lot of success, that's just a lie. He hasn't.
Pat McAfee
Oh yeah. They're ranked number two in the country.
AP Tone
I mean, they get 10 a year.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, that's sweet too. But like The Panthers started 30 and Sam Darnold was the quarterback. Like, I, I want Penn State to be good because that atmosphere is so awesome.
Pat McAfee
They're in a semifinals last year in the national championship. Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
They routinely beat the teams they should beat and they can't beat the teams that. And people expect them to be when.
Connor Rogers
They routinely lose and to the teams that they do.
Pat McAfee
And now UCLA.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
If UCLA wasn't.04. Like, remember when they went to USC last year? Like they do struggle out there and they had to. You know, actually Tyler Warren made that absurd catch to beat usc. Like they have problems in California and that does make sense. It's just like, dude, you can't lose. If it went Oregon, Ohio State and they lost those back to back. Fine. But like you can't lose, lose to Oregon and then come out and lay an egg against the kid who actually just graduated high school. Like I don't know if this guy even went to college. I'm dead serious. Yeah, yeah, but allegedly. I'm just, I'm just saying like 33 years old. It's a bad look for the highest paid defensive coordinator. A guy, a head coach that had his quarterback, his two best players, or running backs rather, five star wide receiver that they probably played $2 million dollars, two of their best defensive linemen.
Pat McAfee
What you just mentioned right there is the biggest conversation they are all in.
Connor Rogers
Yes.
Pat McAfee
So like when you're at a place that's all in, the donors are not gonna be.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, dude. Yeah. There's no.
Pat McAfee
Yes, that is it. To lose the ucla. I'm paying how much to who? We're paying how much and we're losing a ucla. I don't know.
Connor Rogers
There's still time.
Darius Butler
They could beat Ohio State.
Ty Schmidt
They have to.
Pat McAfee
They have to.
Darius Butler
And then go to playoffs. If they do it.
Pat McAfee
If they were able to do that, they would be able to have the conversation at the end.
Ty Schmidt
Can't lose again.
Darius Butler
Nope.
Pat McAfee
Hey. Still all there in front of you? Yeah. James knows it. Let's go to Joey Kennedy, the fourth. There's been three others. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but Michael Bidwell should move the team to Europe. Give the Arizona market whatever expansion drivel the league comes out with next.
A.J. Hawk
Pretty good.
Pat McAfee
Cannot be worse than whatever the hell I witnessed in Glendale yesterday. Embarrassed to be born in this state. After that. Joey Fitz said the same thing. It's the worst loss he's ever seen. Now aj, we haven't got your take on that. I think that was a touchdown. I think he still had control of the football while they broke the line, the goal line. But there was no definitive angle, I guess, which once again that's conversation to be had. Why is there no definitive angle? We should have one of those. And then also everybody around football said yeah, we don't care that they didn't. And roll it. A touchdown. Like you shouldn't have done this. So that's kind of how our emotions are about it. Like right there. Does he not have that in his fingers?
Darius Butler
This is the. This angle is the only one that it makes it look like to me he didn't score. No, he didn't. The other one.
AP Tone
Because he's losing it before.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but what if he's in his fingertips? Cuz when you Flip that thing. You're doing this, but you're going like this. You're going bang. And then you're going boom. Is this still in your.
A.J. Hawk
Is that possession right there? That's not possession.
Pat McAfee
Probably.
Darius Butler
Yeah. I don't think that's considered possession if.
Pat McAfee
I'm about to throw that thing.
Darius Butler
No, that's just. Just like 80.
A.J. Hawk
What do they say? Can you get possession by the tip? Can you just hold the tip and have position?
Pat McAfee
That's what I'm saying. Like, if I. If I. I'm intrigued. That is interesting.
AP Tone
But then you're not assuming that he's purposely doing that and he's not losing it like A.D. mitchell did.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Darius Butler
So it becomes like a judgment call, right?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
AP Tone
And in that situation, it's completely avoidable.
A.J. Hawk
I think that's the biggest problem people have.
Pat McAfee
That's what everybody says. Who cares? You shouldn't have done it. And then the football gods punished him. I mean, the. The kick, the whoopty do. Touchdown. Outrageous. Yeah, Just absolutely outrageous. And that only happens if you do something that really upset the gods up there.
Ty Schmidt
Snap drilling, Kyler in the helmet.
Pat McAfee
Gods, football gods.
Darius Butler
Yeah, everything.
Pat McAfee
Everything you can think of. Gannon and Hat going sideways after chewing a guy out. That's. I mean, I don't think I've ever.
Darius Butler
Seen a play look that ridiculous. I'm saying on the National Football League.
Pat McAfee
Field, but I'm saying, like youth. You think? I don't know if that even happens in high school.
Darius Butler
I mean.
AP Tone
Yeah, that's got Max and R all over it.
Pat McAfee
There you go. There it is. All right, let's go to the next overreaction, shall we? Is from Evan Swan @oswan21. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact act, but you should never, ever poke the bear. Cuz that bear always comes back for seconds. Go Bucks. Baker for mvp. Igbuka for rookie of the year. And then here's the bear being poked by the fans in Seattle. You look at you.
Ty Schmidt
Look at how good you are.
Pat McAfee
No, you still suck. You still suck. You still. I love everything about everything about it. I love that Baker remembered on the way out, everybody, you're the one. You're the one. And Baker's one of those guys. Like, I. I think there's a chance that team should be telling their fans beforehand. Hey, we don't do it to Baker. Like, that actually helps him. You are hurting our team whenever you wake this guy up. There's obviously a few people throughout history that we know if you poke the Bear, they're gonna kill you. Baker's one of them. I think he has proven that time and time again all the way back to college. Remember, the guy wouldn't shake his hand. The guy would shake his hand, Kansas. Okay, that's what we're gonna do right now. That is literally what he thrives off of. And he put on a show yesterday. Not that CF Seattle didn't, but I, I, if I'm the Seahawks, I'm asking that guy, was it worth it? Was it worth it to do this? Because he's literally one of them. AJ that is who Baker is and always has been, it seems like.
A.J. Hawk
That's why we love him, I think. And that my, that's my favorite part of all of it, obviously, is after the game when he knows, like, you knew, as he's jogging in, he's like, I cannot wait to look like I'm going to let this guy know that I still remember him. But, yeah, like, it's like, when have you ever heard offensive linemen talk about, like, hey, when there's a big scary D line and these guys that actually, absolutely can wreck the game, they try to, like, do their best to not wake the dude up, to try to be nice to him, almost help him up sometimes. Whatever it takes to not make them freak out. And I think Baker is the quarterback version of that. Do not wake this guy up because he thrives on adversity like this. And I think, yeah, you're right away. Stadiums, just, just keep it, like, pleasantries. Very nice to Bake. Hey, you're playing. You're having such a great year, Bake. You're going to have an MVP year, buddy. Like, just say things like that to him.
Pat McAfee
Space needles. You go to space D. It's a beautiful view. You love this place. Catch some fish.
Connor Rogers
Go catch some fish.
Pat McAfee
You'd be so good at tossing the fish, too. You should ask him that type of stuff. What do you say?
Darius Butler
I'm just saying he's rare in that sense. Like, usually the good quarterbacks aren't, like, very chirpy. You had Philip Rivers, but it's not a lot of them. Some of them would just kill you and just kind of be like, this throw was unbelievable. That's when you really knew he was in his flow, especially at that point in the game. 1 min left to tie it up. But, yeah, he's a quarterback that. We talked about it again against the Texans once, you know, he got hurt knee.
Pat McAfee
Boom.
Darius Butler
Popped up CJ. GJ's talking shit. Boom. You just saw Him. Click. And, like, typically, that's not what you see with quarterbacks. That's maybe linebackers, maybe running backs, but he's a guy who can talk shit. You put those chips on his shoulder. Whether you're a part of the game or not, you could be a part of the fucking crowd. He's going to take everything and use it as fuel, and he is playing his best football right now.
Pat McAfee
What did Drew Brees take? Yeah. Oh, I'll take everything. Yes, please, please, please. I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking. And I think Bucks fans are saying we can start earlier. You know, we don't have to have final. Are you. Are you. Are you. My bad. My.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, my freaking phone. This thing is. I suck today with this freaking phone.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you and the microphone are getting after. But also that brand new hat. I don't. You know that. That hat.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, exactly. I'm just trying to, you know, figure.
A.J. Hawk
Out where I can move my head.
Connor Rogers
With it, you know, I'm not used to wearing hats. I usually just rock the hair, but.
Pat McAfee
You know, hey, good Patriots gear today. Not that it is abnormal.
Connor Rogers
No, no. But it is. It's not. Like, I'm not kidding. And I. I was telling. I forget who I was talking to last night because I sent so many texts like, Patrick back. Like, so many to so many non Pats fans, but it was one of those times where, like, I mean, I was sitting on the floor for the last two minutes of the game, for that whole final drive, for that kick. Like, as soon as the kick goes through, like. Like, get a call from my brother. That hasn't happened since 2018. Like. Like, yeah, like, reminds you of. I'm dead serious, too, especially with the Bill Belichick conversation. But it reminds you of how special it is when you have a really good team and, like, what it does to a city. And, like, we're seeing it here with indie, like we saw with the Pacers in Indy. Like, it really does. Like, for. For me, it takes us back just because. Because, like, you lived it for so long with New England, but the fact that it's here now, you forget how special it is. And like, seeing Drake may, you know, go down the field with two minutes left, it was just amazing.
Pat McAfee
Let's go to a city that has never had that. This is from Michael at Snoop collects hashtag. I don't know of reacts, but this Browns team has a chance to be good. But we're not because we have a clown at head coach who can't Manage a game clock to save his life. Life. Another season, another wasted year of Miles Garrett's prime dog shit organization. From Michael. I don't think I know exactly the situation because I was driving maybe downtown to the game. I missed the clock operation stuff. We'll have to revisit that. But I do know Stefanski and Andrew Barry are going to be given a lot of opportunity because I don't think it was their decision to give the money. Most amount of money guaranteed in the history to anybody. But boy, that Cleveland Browns team, Dylan Gabriel looked good. I thought they'd be a little bit more positive. AJ I didn't know it was going to be this negative.
A.J. Hawk
I mean if you get a win, they'd be a little more positive. But the fact that they lost a game that people thought they should have won and they hadn't won. Yeah. Then you're going to get the Browns fans that say of course this is what happens. This is what we do. But honestly though, isn't. Isn't Deshaun Watson going to be healthy at some point this year and want to come back? I heard. Isn't that a real thing? That's possible.
Pat McAfee
Haven't even bro. My mind hasn't even broached my mind. I'm excited to learn about that day though, whenever that all takes place.
Connor Rogers
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Cuz what are they going to do with the fourth string quarterback at that point, you know? And who is the fourth string quarterback? Because I seen. I don't know who tweeted it. Something about the Raiders.
Ty Schmidt
Oh yeah, CM Nation.
AP Tone
No, no, it was. It was no Portland Trailblazers Day.
Pat McAfee
Y listen, we need to just trade for Shador. This ain't working is what he said about the Raiders. He said this ain't. We're done with this one here, bub. Basically said we need trade for Shador. When is trade deadline? November.
Connor Rogers
They moved it right. Week nine or week eight. There's going to be some massive one especially with the.
Darius Butler
What was it active last year Trade deadline.
Ty Schmidt
D hop right Tuesday, November 4th feels.
A.J. Hawk
Like it's going to be active this year. There's going to be some big time people moved from some bad teams I think.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And also we're getting into a more naturally more active league. It feels like. Like things are just starting to become a little bit more fantasy football for sure. Yeah. Teams are starting to do a little bit more selling and buying and stuff like that. Which is good for us for sure. Is it good for the long term success of the programs? We shall see. Let's go to the next overreaction here. This one's from Nick Frederick, I do believe. Hashtag. I don't want to overreact, but the Yankees 2025 playoff. Oh, no, Nick. We all know what followed this. This was September 11, 2023. Aaron Rodgers comes running out to start his entire New York jets era. They're going to go on to win a Super Bowl. It was one of the greatest entrances we have seen in sports.
Ty Schmidt
Yes.
Pat McAfee
The hype seemingly living up to the expectation of everything that could be here for the Jets. For the first time since Joe Namath, all we saw was four snaps on the offensive side of the ball. That's what they're saying about the Yankees, huh?
Ty Schmidt
Kinda just, you know, I was like.
Pat McAfee
Wow, beat the Red Sox to get it.
Ty Schmidt
Exactly.
Pat McAfee
That's. That's the carrying.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. Because you win that series and then it's like, actually, everything is like, I know the Blue Jays are really good, but this is kind of setting up perfectly for the Yankees to, you know, make it to the LCS and potentially you get, you get to that point, then you're rolling. Maybe you won a World Series. Nope. They just got embarrassed two games in a row in Toronto. And now you're just thinking like, boy, what was I doing? What was I doing? Thinking that they were maybe gonna win this Series. They go back to New York, they've said, like, hey, we're. Our backs were just against the wall. That guy, that is Alejandro Kirk. I think it takes him like, 30 seconds to run to first base. So if you get him to hit it on the ground, like, he, you could basically throw it. Like, the third baseman will be able to throw it out to the left field, without a doubt. And, and throw him out by 30ft. Problem is, when you throw him pitches, like, right down the middle, he's. He's a surly son of a. He's going to hit him out of the ballpark. And he did a fair amount of that over the weekend. It's just, I mean, like, like I said, you know, you. I had so much hope and optimism going into this. And, and, and to Toronto's credit, like, it was instantaneous. In the first inning of the, the first game, you know, they hit a homer and it's like, okay, we're okay. And then they come up in the second inning and they hit another homer. It's like, okay, we're still, you know, I mean, they got good lineup as well. And then the Yankees just keep striking out and the Blue Jays just keep hitting Homers and just keep hitting homers. They what did they outscore him? 22 to 8 in two games? Games.
Pat McAfee
Toronto, like, these Yankees are shite. I didn't know that was when I was pulling these.
AP Tone
I think I pulled 12 homeworks. And I'm not kidding.
Pat McAfee
This is the one right here.
Connor Rogers
Go back.
Pat McAfee
Can you go back to this and have sound on this one? Yeah, we're gonna have to find sound on it. Oh, we don't have sound. Okay, never mind, never mind.
Darius Butler
Did he make history? So what is that, Vlad?
Ty Schmidt
I don't know. Maybe the first player to hit a baseball 8, 000ft and 10, 000 miles an hour off the bat. I mean, that, that was. And I knew that was gonna happen. They bring in Will Warren, who's a starter, hasn't like pitched out of the bullpen all year. You bring him in with the bases loaded against their best hitter. It's like, what do you expect to happen? He grooves him one right down the middle. And Vladdy knew too. He's like, oh, wow, I might hit that to Buffalo. So, you know, I'm gonna sit here and pimp this a little bit. And God, the Blue Jays, they got these little like suit jackets that they put on the guys after they hit the homer. I saw that about 10,000 times over the weekend. Almost bought one because I was like, wow, that's actually kind of a cool little thing they're doing. So we'll see.
Pat McAfee
You almost got influenced by the other teams run celebration.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, exactly. So. And you know what? To make things worse, Buck Martinez, who is the play by play guy or. No, the color guy for the Blue Jays broadcast, he said back, you know, maybe like a couple months ago, they weren't even playing the Yankees, the Blue Jays were playing the Astros. And just out of nowhere, he kind of. And he's like, you know what? I'm not worried about the Yankees because they're just not a good team. And Aaron Boone mentioned that leading into this series, he was like, I heard what Buck Martinez said, you know, and like, contrary to popular belief, like, we are a good team. And then for them to just get embarrassed two games in a row in Toronto.
Pat McAfee
What was Buck doing? Keeping it a buck up there?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, sure, exactly. Him and Dan Schulman, they were keeping it a Buck. So we'll see backs against the wall, going back to New York. At the very least, boy, you better not get 10 run. You can't. You cannot get swept.
Pat McAfee
Do they have a running clock?
Ty Schmidt
No, no, they don't. They Don't. But you'll see. You know, you go down nothing. You. You basically bring in a fat New Yorker from the crowd to pitch the last three innings because it doesn't matter.
Pat McAfee
So.
Ty Schmidt
So we'll see, Yankees. We'll see what happens.
Pat McAfee
Maybe Herb should. Gets out there and throws one. He can be good.
Ty Schmidt
That's not a bad idea. He would have been better out of the bullpen than Luke Weaver over the weekend. I know that. That son of a.
Pat McAfee
All right, last overreaction here from New York, the Jet Chef at the Jet Chef. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but the 2025 jets might as well be a Make a Wish team for how they're putting their fans on death row watching whatever has been on the field the last decade. Plus, Fireman Ed hasn't given up, right?
Ty Schmidt
No, I think Fireman Ed's. He first. First class ticket to Bermuda.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he's.
Ty Schmidt
He's out of there.
Darius Butler
Yeah.
Connor Rogers
No, this is. This is. Fireman Ed's. Like Forston. He's given up three times already.
Pat McAfee
No, no, that.
Connor Rogers
No, that's. I mean, dude, I know a bunch of jets fans. He has.
AP Tone
He'd be crazy if he didn't.
Pat McAfee
Once you do this. Yeah. It'd be hard not to. He might not be a real fan, but there are jets fans that are riding along the misery. Certainly. It's like a part of the thing. Grainy Cole. I mean, you name it, you start listening fans, and it's just like, are they always going to stink? And Aaron Glenn's got to get his culture in there, right, A.J. that's what we need to say.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, he does. I just. Yeah. How long does that take? I guess you got to give some hope. You got to. You got to show some kind of hope at some point, which I. I would assume they will at some point this year.
Pat McAfee
Did you see how hard Justin Fields threw that ball off that guy's head?
A.J. Hawk
He's got a cannon, man. He really does.
Ty Schmidt
He should start for the Yankees. He should start game three for the Yankees. Yankees.
A.J. Hawk
Try it.
Ty Schmidt
He's right there.
Pat McAfee
He's right there. I mean, that thing was going to go 20 yards off of that. Hell, if that sky cam didn't get in the way. I think it's coming with real speed. This is in super duper slow mo. Look how fast it's still coming.
AP Tone
Jackson dart pitching made a couple innings each.
Ty Schmidt
I don't hate that.
Pat McAfee
Russell Wilson's over there.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah. He's long in the tooth. He stinks no, he doesn't. We don't need another guy coming in, throwing 91 miles. Miles an hour right down the middle. We got enough of those guys. Okay.
Pat McAfee
He might have been on Savannah Bananas. I watched the Savannah Bananas. They got a new team. Jeez. He's beating hell out, dude.
Connor Rogers
I don't know what's going on.
Pat McAfee
He's reserved.
Ty Schmidt
Cowboy hat guy.
Pat McAfee
The Savannah Bananas have a team that has full cowboy hat. It's a whole team because they got multiple teams now.
Ty Schmidt
I saw the Bananas got eliminated from playoff contention.
Pat McAfee
Shut up.
Ty Schmidt
What the hell is that about? Yeah, one of their players made it out against the Party Animals.
Pat McAfee
He was.
Ty Schmidt
Was sitting in the. The third base bleachers. So. What the.
Connor Rogers
What are we doing?
Ty Schmidt
This banana ball even work? They didn't make the playoffs. I thought they won every game.
Pat McAfee
They got a lot of good teams. I know.
Ty Schmidt
Party Animals are good.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Here, Firefighters.
Pat McAfee
You'll get the points and runs. You got two different things. Yep. He's out there. I'm giving that. Hold on.
Connor Rogers
You're telling me the Pas beat the Bananas?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. The pa. I think the pa. Is that the pa. Is that a banana?
AP Tone
Is that what you're saying?
Ty Schmidt
Yes. This guy is a banana.
Pat McAfee
Banana. I'll say this. I don't think he is a banana.
Ty Schmidt
That was what Tweet said. I just took it as gossip.
Pat McAfee
I think that's an actual out over there.
Connor Rogers
Yeah, it's one of those goofy rules.
Ty Schmidt
No, that's what I'm saying.
Pat McAfee
He is a banana.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. The Bananas have been eliminated from playoff contention. This guy went to the game the Party Animals against whoever the they're playing, and he. He made the out in the in as a spectator. He is a banana.
Pat McAfee
Banana. That guy's a banana.
Ty Schmidt
That guy is a banana.
Pat McAfee
Look, you go through your banana.
Ty Schmidt
Look at. He knows all the party animals.
Pat McAfee
Hey, thank you for the out.
Ty Schmidt
We're gonna make it to the playoffs.
AP Tone
Darius Slade did that with one of Jalen Hurts's throws yesterday, too. Caught it in the crowd.
Darius Butler
Slay was there.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Darius Butler
He loves his old boy.
Ty Schmidt
He loves football.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
AP Tone
Eagles was the closest to Pittsburgh game that he could get to.
Pat McAfee
I like it.
Darius Butler
He used to go to the high school games a lot in Detroit.
Pat McAfee
That reminds me of someone Slay does. Love ball, bro. Loves ball. Yeah.
AP Tone
Four and one, by the way. Very three and one maybe.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I don't think you played five weeks. You had bye week. The won the bye week, though.
Connor Rogers
Undefeated by week.
AP Tone
What did the FC north do yesterday?
Pat McAfee
How did they do? Ravens.
Darius Butler
Nice.
Pat McAfee
Two L Bengals. L, Browns. L, Steelers home. Long road here. It's an early bye week.
AP Tone
The longest road you can take is the best one.
Ty Schmidt
I do say that.
Pat McAfee
All right, we'll see. I don't know if that's ever been said, but maybe now.
Connor Rogers
People say the shortest usually.
Pat McAfee
Maybe now it'll be forever. Etching Stone with the Steelers. Run.
AP Tone
You want handouts? Take the shortest one you got.
Ty Schmidt
Take the long road.
Pat McAfee
All right, he's on the Jacksonville Jaguars plus three and a half. I have the Kansas City Chiefs minus three and a half. He's on the over. I'm on the under. D. Butch likes the Kansas City Chiefs as well. So we shall see how tonight goes. You like to over, under?
Darius Butler
Oh, give me the under.
Pat McAfee
Okay, Two unders between me and D. Bu. Now, granted, I did have to pick the complete opposite of AJ because AJ is up 10, 3 to 9, 4 on the weekend's picks. AJ seeing the board. Well, that's why he's a Hoffnom. Yeah, that's why he's a Hoffnom. 9 and 4. I'm pretty happy with that, to be clear. Yeah, it would. I went 2 and 14 last week. 3 and 13 last week. So this is good. Get back for me. Can steal this thing tonight.
Connor Rogers
Absolutely.
Pat McAfee
Can steal this thing tonight. AJ don't let me do it.
A.J. Hawk
You can, don't you?
Pat McAfee
You won't.
A.J. Hawk
But you can, don't you?
Pat McAfee
Arizona Cardinals this. Don't you. This thing into the end zone. We'll be back tomorrow. We can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. If I change your life. We're in this thing together, A.J. any final thoughts?
A.J. Hawk
Well, better one tomorrow, fellas.
Pat McAfee
I doubt it. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three.
AP Tone
Team.

New episodes Tuesdays.
Date: October 6, 2025
Main Guests: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andrew Whitworth, Adam Schefter
Key Contributors: Pat McAfee (Host), AJ Hawk, Darius Butler, Connor Rogers, Ty Schmidt, Tone Digs (“Hammer DAHN”)
Theme/Purpose:
A jam-packed "Overreaction Monday" episode delivering an in-depth NFL Week 5 recap, discussion of comebacks, chaos and coaching, an MNF Chiefs-Jags preview, and appearances from Fitzpatrick and Whitworth (traveling with the Amazon TNF crew), as well as analysis from Adam Schefter. The episode combines sharp football insights, spirited banter, and the show’s signature comedic energy.
Pat sets the tone:
“Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome on this overreaction Monday, October 6, 2025...”
(00:00, Pat McAfee)
Recaps a “magical” football weekend: NFL comebacks, college football chaos, ongoing playoffs in MLB & WNBA.
Boston Connor honored for Patriots fandom after a big New England win (with a “Drake May” mug on display).
Historic number of last-minute go-ahead scores and game-winning kicks:
“There have been 16 games this season with a go ahead score in the final minute of regulation. The most through five weeks of a season since the 1970 merger.”
(05:02, Pat)
Arizona Cardinals “drop the ball at the one yard line” debacle:
“We did it again. We did the drop the ball at the one yard line.”
(05:53, Fitzpatrick)
Pat, Fitz, and the crew analyze two underachievers:
Bengals: Sputtering without Joe Burrow, outscored 104 to 16 in his absence.
“They’ve looked like ass.” (08:28, Pat)
Whitworth: “I’m going to go somewhat ass just because they don’t have Joe Burrow.”
(08:59)
O-line evaluation woes:
“Since 2011 that they’ve drafted an offensive lineman and he’s signed a second contract…You clearly have an evaluation problem of the priority of the position.”
(10:54, Whitworth)
Jets: Floundering under Aaron Glenn, questions about Sauce Gardner, defensive regression, hope for patience and a culture reset.
Conclusion: “Jets less ass currently than the Bengals.” (18:05, Fitzpatrick)
Baker Mayfield magic: Buccaners win last two games on the final play; every win is a comeback.
“Baker’s game, probably the best game I’ve seen from a quarterback in a long time.”
(19:11, Darius Butler)
Overcoming injuries, love for OC Joshua Grizzard, physical and improving O-line.
Ty Schmidt: “You can certainly make that case because everyone who wants to poke holes in the Bucs, they just said, well, this isn’t sustainable. Four out of five weeks is a pretty good sample size.” (21:10)
Pat turns full homer:
“Colts are going to win Super Bowl.” (24:26)
Interviews with owner Carly Ursay, praise for Shane Steichen, Lou Anarumo’s defense, and the team’s all-in mentality.
Daniel Jones’ (Danny Dimes) “fit and timing” discussed by Fitzpatrick.
Fitz: “This is very sustainable for Daniel Jones as well. Steichen’s a great play caller… He has the weapons on the outside.” (28:58)
Injury to rookie kicker Spencer Schrader; finding a replacement is a concern.
Fitz & Whit: Reflect on building genuine chemistry in the Amazon pregame crew. Whitworth: “That’s the best part…when you leave the game of football, you remember the locker room. We’ve created that with our crew.”
(03:52, Andrew Whitworth)
"Locker room" vibes in their bus journey from LA to NYC for TNF.
Stories about Thursday night’s unique challenges and their transition to TV.
Wiley camaraderie, stories about hotel bars, and loving ball.
On Broncos’ Crazy Comeback:
Patriots Statement Win:
Lamar Jackson Injury: Out, likely won't play vs Rams before Baltimore’s bye.
“He couldn’t walk out of the locker room. He was limping.” (40:52)
49ers QB Room: Mac Jones as reliable fill-in, but “absolutely Brock Purdy’s job.” (44:55)
Monday Night Football Preview: Chiefs @ Jaguars
Jags D leads the league in turnovers (13); Chiefs have just 1 turnover, setting up strength-on-strength.
Weather, injury (Xavier Worthy), and Travis Hunter’s two-way role are discussed.
College Football:
MLB Playoffs:
Pat, on NFL unpredictability:
“You never know what the fuck’s going to happen...Any given Sunday? Brian McCarthy, NFL PR, said it’s any given FOURTH QUARTER now.”
(04:10)
Ryan Fitzpatrick, on Amazon’s TV chemistry:
“We love each other and we love football. We love watching it. We love talking about it, and we like to have a good time, too.”
(03:30)
Whitworth, on Bengals O-line:
“You could go watch the last three plays of the game...Maybe the worst three snaps I’ve ever seen.”
(09:04)
Darius Butler, on Baker’s brilliance:
“Probably the best game I’ve seen from a quarterback in a long time.”
(19:11)
Adam Schefter, on Patriots rookie QB:
“Drake May made a couple of plays that not a lot of quarterbacks can make...”
(38:41)
Pat, Colts optimism:
“Colts are going to win Super Bowl...After watching this team live with these eyes, boys…”
(24:26)
Banter on Baker Mayfield being “team of destiny”:
“That’s just who they’re going to be this year: they’re gonna perform very well in one-score games...”
(21:10, Ty Schmidt)
Closing sign-off:

"Overreaction Monday" lives up to its name, fusing wild but insightful football takes with genuine insider access, plenty of laughs, and interactive fan engagement. Week 5’s headliners: record comeback drama, resurgent Colts, Baker Mayfield’s redemption, and a Patriots optimism not seen in years. The show’s freeform, locker-room energy frames both controversies (scheme, coaching, injuries, off-field incidents) and pure football celebration.
Classic Patisms, Insiders' banter, and the ever-present (often pained) pulse of the fan base: This is why PMS 2.0 is can’t-miss Monday listening.
