A.J. Hawk
Welcome to the Pat McAfee Show.
Con Man
Feel good.
A.J. Hawk
Friday, November 21st. I'm A.J. hawk sitting in for Pat here in Indianapolis. Pat's and Eugene, big game last night. Boys.
Pat McAfee
Football.
A.J. Hawk
Football is what it is. Last night. Huge game. Pat and Eugene, what's going on, buddy? What a game last night.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I'm all the way in Eugene, you know, staring at some new green, checking out the new scenes, changing up the routine. Life is good. Austin stadium here in 40 degree weather. A little bit of fog over the beautiful pines that are lined from one side of this state to the other. Oregon hosts USC and a CFP conversation game for the weekend. Cannot wait for that. Dan Lanning will be joining us here in about 25 minutes or so. Game day will be live, 9am Eastern on ESPN on all platforms it's available and also still live on X on our account and at ESPN's account. That's been quite a little tag team, a little tandem, a little duo that has been spectacular, maybe transforming what the future of sports media looks like, but nonetheless, massive weekend here in Oregon. It's far, but it is beautiful. The fog kind of covers up the beauty a little bit, you know, so you hop into a time capsule, you fly out here over Rockies, look down, it's so cool. It's just, you know that there's majestic mountains under that pitch black out there, you know, and the more pitch black, you know, the more majestic it is because this is like where they helicopter in to go do their ski and stuff. Part of the Rockies, you know, you're way out there. Then you land it like, hey, well, close to not being able to get done because the visibility is low. And then you think to yourself, visibility so well, I'm not even going to get a chance to see beautiful Oregon. And then before we went live here, a lot of these trees not even visible. It was just a gray basic wall that kind of took place. That thing has moved out and now it has set the stage for a wonderful weekend here in Oregon. A wonderful weekend of ball. I can't wait for that. Now to your point, AJ Last night, I'll tell you what, the AFC south, yeah H, the AFC south is something to talk about. Now. I woke up yesterday morning age and it appeared very early from when you joined us that you had a differing opinion than I did. But I woke up yesterday morning, was dining in the sauna. Then you know, face splash in a cold tub in the gym as well. And Texans plus six just felt too obvious to me. It just was. Why is my Entire body. We're talking from my toes through my soul to my eyes and my hair. Everything in me was like, texans, let's put everything we own on Texas. Texans plus six. It was a weird feeling, a weird intuition. So much so that I actually thought to myself, I maybe need. This is too much. Then you hear the public money 78% in the morning on the Buffalo Bills minus six. Then it ended up being 77%. It's like 23% of the people are seeing the same way I'm seeing. That might. That might be really good or really bad good news for me, AJ I'm seeing the fucking field. Hey, listen, the Texans did exactly what we thought they were going to do. The Texans defense, number one in the entire NFL. Now, this is very similar to the situation that took place here in Oregon when Indiana came about three weeks ago, four weeks ago. I've been watching the Indiana Hoosiers. I don't think a lot of people had been watching the Indiana Hoosiers. I knew that the Hoosiers were very good at ball. I don't know how many people are watching AFC south football whenever it's not on primetime. I don't know how many people are watching Houston Texans or keeping up with the Houston Texans. Will Anderson, you see, you see on his chest, it's not just the fact that he's captain and he's like a guy that has been become a pillar guy. But remember, they traded up to go get him. Daniel Hunter gets signed from the Minnesota Vikings down there to Houston. Demico Ryan's wanted his defense to be swarming and everywhere. That's how he wanted to build the culture. CJ Stroud got a lot of pub, obviously because his rookie career was so outstanding. But d' Ameco Ryan's is a defensive savant. He's a beast. He's a dog. And they got dogs all over the field. Josh Allen sacked eight times, the most in his career. Obviously his record at NRG Stadium, which was a lot last night. Both myself and Coach McCarthy and I think anybody that's ever played against the Houston Texans in a big game would complement that environment. They were loud as hell last night. And I know Amazon prime, they're not really like, big on like, let's turn up the crowd noise. That's kind of one of their things. I think we're learning that. I think we're learning that, right? Why is that?
A.J. Hawk
I don't understand that. Why is that?
Pat McAfee
I don't know, man. I don't know if it's Not a big game.
A.J. Hawk
It makes it more of a big game feel. I feel like. I think crowd noise always needs to be. You need to ride that level all game. Keep it up.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, they're a character, right? It's a part of the sport is like the environment. That's. That's why home field advantage is a thing. I think we view it that way because we know how important it is. And I think Houston Texans defense understand how important it is down there as well. And I'm not saying it's just because of the crowd down at nrg, but you get that defense with that crowd in a primetime game, it's like that's going to be a weapon for sure. And Josh Allen has struggled against this group. And obviously we put the record up there in the regular season and in playoffs. You're talking about a 40.6 QBR. That's out of 100. That's the worst. He has 14 sacks in total, eight of them last night. That's the most. 17.8 points per game. I mean, it's like Josh Allen, the unstoppable object, has had problems in Houston. Houston has a solution. They do not have a problem, especially against the Buffalo Bills, and it's how great that defense is. And then Dougie Davis Mills, age. We told the story to Herb street yesterday about why we have followed Davis Mills, maybe closer than any other NFL show, and it's strictly because we disrespected the shit out of him as soon as we learned of his existence. D. Mills is playing. Oh, Dougie had a great one. His name's Davis, actually. Well, now they're calling him Money Mills because what this dude is doing for Houston is winning games. And he completely understands the situation. He's been around a long time, okay? This guy understands he's a backup quarterback for C.J. stroud, loves his role, appreciates his role, shows up in his role and wins games. I mean. I mean, this guy is spinning it all over the place. The Buffalo Bills defense is going to continue to be questioned, okay? Especially because Money Mills played against him. And not a lot of people have appreciation for Money Mills, even though I think everybody agreed on the Internet that he maybe should be a starter somewhere. This guy needs to start maybe getting some looks. Couldn't imagine if a team was, like, shaped around him. Remember, we've done the backup quarterback conversation before, but AJ it's like I felt it yesterday morning and maybe even, dare I say, Wednesday night when I went to bed. The Houston Texans, I think, are much better than what their record said they were, which was 500. And I think you're. If you have a defense that's a championship defense, you can win any game. Hawker.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, you can't if you fox. I don't know if we have that graph. This is a beautiful graphic right here. But I know Woody Marks added a lot to it. He.
Con Man
He.
A.J. Hawk
That dude runs hard, man. I don't know if, like, this graphic right here, though. Those bottom three turnovers, sacks, red zone. So, yeah, the Bills have three turnovers, Texans zero. Obviously, Dougie Mills taking care of the ball, eight sacks to none.
Pat McAfee
Like, that's wild.
A.J. Hawk
And then in the red zone, you know, the bills are.02 and the Texans score 50% of the time. Like, that right there tells you all the story you need to know. And Dougie Mills, he doesn't need to go out there and be Joe Montana in his prime. He just needs to take care of the ball, score when needed, get a big touchdown going into half, I think, which was huge for this team. And they let your defense go out there and eat. Your defense gets eight sacks. Like, they were absolutely relentless. It was really fun to watch this Texans defense.
Pat McAfee
AJ like me, were you worried there at the end, though, when they pick up a 4th and 27? It's like, yep. And now I didn't want to, you know, cart before horse type situation. Hook and ladder here, 4th and 27, you would think that they would, you know, be ready for that. But I mean, just perfect biting on the corner there. That leads to a perfect setup. I mean, annexation of Puerto Rico, obviously. Great play in the history and the annals of football. The hook and ladder, one of the greatest plays in the history of football, because it's basically a Hail Mary with a little close Sicilian involved. You know, let's go ahead and try to bait him. And it works to perfection. But I thought this was football gods and Josh Allen and Buffalo Bill saying, like, this has been cute. Okay? It's be cute. My only deep shot, this guy, I don't know if he doesn't show up at team meetings or doesn't care that he doesn't show up at team meetings. I don't know what the hell is going on with Keon Coleman, but Josh Allen's looking around. I've got a. Like, what am I supposed to do? We got no deep shot. We got a defense that knows we got to go short, okay. And we got a great defense that knows we got to go short throughout the entire game. But in the end, MVPs are going to do MVP shit. That's what I was thinking here. As we were kind of. I think we're over Rockies at this point, as this was kind of happening. I'm like, oh, no, Texans are going to Texans this thing. I think Texans are going to blow this. The Buffalo Bills may be going to Buffalo Bills this, and instead they still get a stop. There's like so many times that the Houston Texans answered. You talked about right before half. Houston Texans answer right there, 4th and 27 football. God saying, you probably lose this Texans answer here with a pick. It's like, I'm proud and I'm not a. Obviously the Colts run the AFC south, so it's not okay. But like d', Amico, Ryan's team, the resiliency, the mental toughness, the fortitude, the talent, it's like they don't get talked about a lot down there, but I. They're good. They're a good ball. They're a good football team. They are a good football team. So whenever you talk about the AFC south, you got Jacksonville Jaguars, they're back, right? Yeah, they got questioned, I guess, at quarterback still. But it feels like that's always going to be for Trevor Lawrence. He was the highly. The highest. Like, what is the points? I don't. What would it be? Highest grade? His highest grade?
A.J. Hawk
One of those things.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but is it the 151? I don't know. But he was the high. This guy's supposed to be the guy. So he's always going to be judged until he wins, especially with some of the shit that we've seen. But it's like Jacksonville Jaguars, much better spot. Houston Texans, very good football team. And then the Indianapolis Colts are the best team of football. So the AFC south might be the new powerhouse. I don't know if anybody wants to talk about it. And the Buffalo Bills just happened to fall victim to that last night. And the Buffalo Bills have to figure a lot of shit out. I think age. I think they got to figure a lot of shit out. I think that is something that the Buffalo Bills are going to have to do.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, they were under. Under attack by this Houston Texans defense. I love how they run to the ball. Like, the amount of pressure, like, yeah, eight sacks is a gigantic number. But Josh Allen, like, he never really felt like he'd get comfortable in the pocket. He's throwing off his back foot. He's doing this all game long, no matter what. Like, I was talking to Connor before he came on air. There was a second or third down there Showing. And they show Will Anderson and Hunter walking on the field together. And they both were like. It looked like two Terminators coming out to kill people. They looked so, like, awesome and intimidating and thinking, like, all three levels. I just love this defense, honestly. I know Matt Burke, the defensive coordinator there, he's a great coach as well. But when you play defense like this, look how much fun they're all having. Like, everybody on the defense is having fun. The 15, 16 guys, all that rotate in and get to play in this defense, they're just itching to get in. They can't wait to get off that sideline and go make a play. And it seems like whoever they put in there, they're going to go after the quarterback. And that's. That's where it all starts, man. If you get penetration, good luck.
Pat McAfee
For opposing offenses, great culture feels like great culture on the defensive side. And it feels like, you know, just strictly because the offense isn't great, they don't get talked about. Number one defense in the league. And A.J. you'd be able to speak to this more than me, obviously. I just had a chance to witness it from the side sideline. But whenever you got two dudes. Two dudes, okay, if you. If you got two dudes, obviously that changes the math for the chips and who has to be where and who do you double? You can't double everybody. That should open up for everybody else. When you got two dudes. I watched Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, both of them. Dwight Freeney in the hall of Fame. Robert Mathis will end up in hall of Fame because strip sack, record, all the different stuff that he has, he'll end up being a Hall of Famer. I got to watch them for, like four years, five years. It was awesome. It was a plan. It was a roster plan, strategy. Hey, listen, Peyton and the boys are going to get a lead, and then we're going to let these dudes just wreck the game. Basically, we're just going to let them take it over. They're going to have to drop back and pass at some point, and we're going to get them. They're going to close. I mean, it's. It's a special strategy. If you have special dudes, and they certainly do. Casario has certainly figured it out. Last three games, 11 and a half sacks out of these two. It's that problematic for everybody. Yeah, that's problematic for everybody if. If you can wreck a game on both sides of the offensive line. Yeah, you can beat anybody. And eight sacks Last night for Josh Allen. I know he's thinking to himself like, what the. What the hell? They still almost won that game. So Bill's great football team. Houston Texans. Great football team. Let's go to one half of the hammer. Dumpy's muted. He yelled. I would like everybody to know. We picked it up. Oh, sweet.
Stanford Steve
All is well.
Pat McAfee
All is well. It is a sick clock. A guy named Shane made that for us. Because underneath that thing is a. Is just an outlet, basically. And then if you go this way just a little bit. Oh, he's dancing. He's dancing. You see him?
Tone
Gotcha.
Pat McAfee
You see who's there? You see who's right there?
Ty
You see him?
Pat McAfee
Is that Mick in the back living that sweet Life?
Ty
Is that Mr. Foss?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, they Paul. Yes, there he is. Foster is living his sweet life in the President's suite up here. We're in a great spot, but Gumpy hammer. Nailed it. Nailed it, nailed it, nailed it. Okay, cowboy. AP Tone, Tone. What ended up being the numbers? Who all won and what. What There wasn't. I didn't see a lot of people celebrating massive hits last night. Go ahead, Tone.
Tone
No. 73 closed. You talked about it being during the show that 77, 78% were on the bills. It closed 73% on the bill. So a little bit more came in on the Texans later before kickoff, but not too much. This was another loss for the public. And then the under hit as well obviously because only two field goals in the second half. It looked like it was going to fly over in the second or in the first half which was super surprising. Then very low scoring KG affair in the second half. So the under also hit there as well. And we are off to another hot start this week for the. For the books.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we are off to a hot start. I want to let you know I. I'm feeling real good. As I was watching that game unfold, I'm like, hold on now age. Hold on. Hey, not good. Not good for the sports books. If I'm starting to just get these intuitions that are on top of it. So I wanted to let everybody know. I thought it was going to carry over maybe. I looked at this weekend Slate, didn't have any of those feels. I don't know other than the Colts. It feels like yesterday was just a one time thing. I thought maybe this was going to be. I thought it was going to be for the rest of the season. I thought I was going to wake up this morning, I was going to look at that book and I Was going to be like, oh, talk to me, football God. What is the next one? I was starting to get very comfortable with myself. As the fog continued continues to kind of bellow in his Eugene or again. Now that is. That could scare some people. That could freak some people out. But whenever you see this type of stuff around here, that means one thing and one thing alone. It's football season.
Ty
Hell.
Pat McAfee
Hell yeah. It's 39 degrees, can't see shit. But Austin Stadium is going to be electrifying tomorrow. Okay. So sportsbooks anyways. I thought I was going to have it age. I thought I was going to have it this morning. I thought I was going to be able to look at the sportsbook and kind of do my thing. I thought I was going to have feeling for every single game. Only one I know is the Colts going into the Chiefs kingdom. Everything else. I think we got a pretty good question mark next to. We'll obviously make a pick for all these games by the end of today. Have a packed show today. We're going to have Coach Lanning from Oregon obviously on here in about 15 minutes or so. Box. Nix will join us. Quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He's doing some amazing thing. Former quarterback here, obviously for the Oregon Ducks. Coach Saban will join us if he can land.
Stanford Steve
Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
I don't know anybody's landing.
Ty
I was going to say that marine layer is thick.
Pat McAfee
That's good. Hey, that's good scientific lingo right there. Joe Nardo would be pumped with what you just did and rest in peace to him, obviously. But yeah, it is. I think that's gonna be things. So we will monitor if coach. I guess we'll be able to tell from her right here. Okay.
Ty
True.
Pat McAfee
If we. If we could see some trees in the next hour or so, Coach Saban will be on show if. Because I think he's potentially circling their circle.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, no. Can we get. If you got Starlink, we could talk to him now. That would be very entertaining.
Tone
Can you see his face?
Pat McAfee
We've talked about that. We've talked about that. He needs to get on that asap. Okay. So let's get to last night's game, though. A couple things that we wanted to point out that we thought were cool and special. I'll tell you what, that umpire stepping in to be the white cap after white cap tears. Whatever Achilles injury. AC it may be whatever the injury is. And I appreciate that he wouldn't get carted off. He said, let me go. Let me walk off this field like others have in the past. And we will obviously wish him Godspeed on his. Do not bring that card out here. No, this white cap, these stripes cannot be seen. Getting carted off the field for the ones that have come by before me. Saved a cart for when I get off the field. In between these lines, I gotta drag my body in the caucus for the good of the game to wait until I get Roy Ellison, though. This man, I think Shannon Sharpe said he's former teammate days back in the day, obviously. So he's a former player. Obviously had eyes on it. He had to pick up like six different jobs. Obviously, he's the. Then he's the white captain. At one point, the play clock stopped working, so he had to say, all right, I will keep the play clock. And he has to scream that basically two people as it's kind of happening. So last night, mvp in my eyes, the Houston Texans defense, the second mvp, Tommy Townsend. Well, absolutely perfect. Third mvp, Doggy Davis Mills. Fourth one, d' Amico Ryan's. That energy, that crowd. Fifth one. This guy, I think he needs a white cap immediately, too, by the way. He has the moxie to do it. He felt like he was very confident. The boys respected the hell out of him. He's up. So he's already in there. It's like, I think we're looking at a. I think we need Roy Ellison to put on the white cap. I think he needs to be elevated. Is that not what you took away from last night as well?
A.J. Hawk
That's exactly what I took away. And look at him. Like, the moment was not too big. When you get called upon when it's your opportunity, like you're a backup qb, whatever it is, make sure the moment's never too big for you.
Ty
Look at him.
A.J. Hawk
He came out with so much confidence, like he knows exactly what he's doing. We feel like we're in good hands. Whether he makes good calls or not.
Pat McAfee
Well, it's okay. We need him to make good calls.
A.J. Hawk
Ideally, yes, you would love that.
Pat McAfee
And it felt like he didn't, you know, they didn't mess up anything too bad after he became it, but you're talking about having to juggle a bunch of plates whenever. You don't really know that it's going to happen. I mean, who thinks the head ref is going to blow their. Like, just. I don't know if that's what happened. Has that been reported? We know.
Tone
I thought it was awesome, though, that he was the only white hat. He had the only white hat on the crew. He had to take off the white hat and pass it down to him.
Ty
That.
Pat McAfee
I mean, it's a working band, bro.
Tone
It's a captain's van.
Ty
Yeah.
Tone
Just like.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, what if. Like, what if. Think how sweaty that thing probably was. You want to throw that.
Pat McAfee
That hat on.
Ty
Yeah, you have. Sometimes you have.
Tone
You have to.
A.J. Hawk
In the games.
Tone
Internet was super impressive.
A.J. Hawk
They would never let that happen during COVID We know that back then.
Tone
I bet Allison got zero reps last week as a white cap. So, like, for him to come in and do that, like, oh, geez.
A.J. Hawk
You're telling me he got no reps as a white cap? No, none good for him. None good for him.
Pat McAfee
He didn't watch film as a white cap. That guy that tours Achilles is a white cap. That guy's been referenced for what, 100 years? I've seen that guy for so long. So him taking his hat off and saying jerk out. Now, that's a big moment in football.
Ty
Huge. Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
They should have made a bigger. Kurt should have made a bigger deal on the broadcast, actually.
Pat McAfee
A.J. you're disgusting. Honestly, no.
A.J. Hawk
Traditional football, unfortunately, Roy had to wear this sweaty hat that old buddy was wearing. I could. T's and peas, man. With this Achilles.
Tone
Adrian Hill is his name.
A.J. Hawk
Adrian Hill. I'm sorry about that. I'm sorry about your Achilles. But I guess. Yeah, look at him. Here we go. This your hat now?
Pat McAfee
Yes. Bingo. Which is part of football, and I'm happy we got to see that. And we would like to let Roy know. Hey, we hope you earn your own white cap. I hope you get to the point where you get to take that white cap just like they do for the CFP committee, how they put those white hats on that.
Bo Nix
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I hope Roy gets a chance at some point to take that white cap off at his home and put that thing up there, because he has certainly earned it. Also, another shout out last night, I think needs to be talked about. There might be a new horse.
Dan Lanning
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
In the best mascot in the NFL race. I don't think we've given much. Obviously, we talk about Jax, him d' Vil down there in Jacksonville. He's dog. This guy's a stud. He shows up in a Speedo. Yeah. Human. Human Speedo. Actual cheeks out with the rest of the first legend, and he'll jump off the sky. We. We jack Sam deville through the Jaguars down times. He's been holding it down for Duvall for a long time. Blue, obviously with the Colts. Sensational talent. Cream pies, everybody. Yeah. Also, great athlete. Great athlete. Throws football from the upper deck into a garbage can every single home game. He's. He's a weapon as well. Toronto, down there in Houston. This guy's good. This guy. I don't know if you saw what he did to a Bills fan. Let's go ahead and measure these dims, please. See if you're up for the task. Okay. Obviously, it's an NFL mascot. We appreciate this. How are five from here? And what's happening?
A.J. Hawk
Pretty good.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Pretty good.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
100. Yeah, that's good. Hijinks right there out of Toro. I like the fact that they kind of let that fly. And also shout out to the Bills fan, yeah, you got. Boom. Okay, how's that going? And then I don't know if you saw this. This guy came in from McLeod's. This guy came in from the clouds. Go ahead and film himself. Confident, casual, coming in from the top of NRG Stadium, the artist formerly known as Reliance Stadium. The artist known as a loud house down there. Not the loud house, but a loud house. Texans. Toro is doing pretty good. Saw him also have a great sign. You know, some Bills fan came down there with Bill's mafia. He said, how about Mills Mafia? I mean, he was on it. Hey, Toro had a big night last night. Very clever primetime game out of Toro. Would like him to be in the ranks. Con man. I just think it needed to be said that Toro might be bringing his fastball a little bit better than everybody else.
Con Man
Yeah. Whole entire team, really. I mean, I don't know. They're hitting their stride right at the right time. I mean, you're talking about the team as a whole being great. That's awesome. But when you have the guy get in the crowd hyped, I think you can't not kind of entertain the thought that without Toro, that crowd isn't as pumped. NRG Stadium isn't as rocking. That defense doesn't play as well. I mean, look at this. You do not get this at every single stadium. I agree. You know, Duvall, Jackson, deville, whatever. His butt cheeks being out, that's not everybody's cup of tea. And you can even go to Blue and say, hey, blue is fantastic, but there ain't no air Toro, okay? There's one Toro. Toro brings the heat every single time. And there's nothing like sneaking a nutshot against a guy who's tailgating on your place, trying to bring the vibe. Trying to crush tables. No, we're going to crush your nuts, brother. You're going to try and crush tables. We'll Bring it right back. Don't even think. Think about coming into energy with that type of stadium.
Pat McAfee
I've never seen that before with the whole tape measure. I thought that was brilliant. Also brilliant. Ladies and gentlemen, Dan Lanning.
Dan Lanning
Y' all good? That's quite. Quite the move. I'm gonna pull that out.
Pat McAfee
Not bad, right?
Dan Lanning
That's a good trick.
Pat McAfee
That does feel like a duck type move. Definitely.
Dan Lanning
The Duck would do that.
Pat McAfee
Duck is a good mascot. You guys have a great match.
Dan Lanning
We got the best. We got the best.
Pat McAfee
Ah. Toro came down from the sky. You get this duck flying off the top of this thing.
Dan Lanning
You never know, man.
Pat McAfee
You never know. All right, we're pitching new ideas.
Dan Lanning
You never know.
Pat McAfee
Okay, let's talk about the fog. Let's talk about the setting. This is perfect, I assume, for you. This really.
Dan Lanning
How awesome is this?
Pat McAfee
Amazing. We got late November, mid November football here, USC coming to town. Everything on the line. What is the mindset for you and your team?
Dan Lanning
Go play football, man. Let's go have some fun. I mean, you're blessed to get to do what we get to do. This is. This is what you're excited for. A top 20 matchup right here. Everybody's paying attention. It's. It's time to go. Execute.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Last time we were here, obviously. Okay, we know how it went.
Dan Lanning
Not. Not.
A.J. Hawk
Not hot.
Pat McAfee
No.
Dan Lanning
It's time to get back to work.
Pat McAfee
I don't like that. I. I don't like that that happened.
Dan Lanning
I. I love how it hurts you like when you're like, I picked the other team and it didn't.
Pat McAfee
You know, it does, but I just knew at that stage of where teams were. Yeah, I live in Indianapolis, so I see this team.
Bo Nix
Team.
Pat McAfee
Like, I saw what that team was.
Dan Lanning
You didn't give me any heads up.
Bo Nix
You didn't.
Dan Lanning
You didn't. You didn't want to give me any heads up.
Pat McAfee
Hey, Fernando's really good, dude. You need to know this. But I thought that team had come along very quickly. I thought, like, they developed and matured as a team early in the season, and I think not a lot of people knew that. So that's why at that time against you guys, I thought that your team, from them till now, is seemingly.
Dan Lanning
We're growing, man.
Pat McAfee
Did you like the loss?
Dan Lanning
I never, like, lost. That's.
Pat McAfee
That.
Dan Lanning
That's B.S. but do I think we grew from the loss? Absolutely. You know, we. We've improved since then.
A.J. Hawk
You know, they're.
Dan Lanning
They're a really good team. There's no doubt about that. But we're not the same team either, and I'm sure they're not, so. But we're not playing them. We're playing sc. So it's time to get ready for those boys.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so what do you see from them? Obviously, Lincoln Riley always going to have a great offense.
Dan Lanning
Yeah, yeah. They do an unbelievable job on offense. They're really balanced when it comes to being able to run the ball and throw the ball. You get to see him play, you know, a gritty game against Iowa last week where they bang heads a little bit and. And then obviously, obviously, Lemon came out in the second half and was dominant. So they've got great wideouts. They do a good job changing the picture on defense. So it's a good. It's a great challenge for us.
Pat McAfee
AJ Has a question for you. Back in Big Ten country, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dan Lanning
Yeah, AJ Hit me.
A.J. Hawk
Good to see you, coach. I was going to ask something about your team and how learning about what your players do best. We can get to that. But first off, are you left handed? When you took your shirt off on game day with Pat, you shaved a little woo to the crowd. You're not left handed. Okay, well, I had to ask.
Dan Lanning
No, no, no, no. But when I'm taking my clothes off, I'm ambidextrous. But normally just right handed.
Pat McAfee
No. So at the end here, you take your undershirt off. By the way, thank you for doing this. And the amount of pain. Your bride's tattoo tells you how much I love her.
A.J. Hawk
Yes.
Pat McAfee
That I don't. I think none of us were expecting that much on that part of your body. That hurts. So you. Dominant hand.
Dan Lanning
Dominant right.
Pat McAfee
Dominant hand. Took the shirt off.
Dan Lanning
Right. But declothing. Ambidextrous.
Pat McAfee
You're saying you could have gone lefty there?
Dan Lanning
Yeah, I'm talented with my clothes off.
Pat McAfee
Okay, we saw that. I thought. I thought you were as well. But you take that off and then you felt in a moment you had to do the left handed because that's what AJ saw. Go back.
Dan Lanning
I don't know a lot about that moment right there. I mean, it didn't work. So I'm not. Tomorrow I'm not going to be taking my clothes off.
Bo Nix
What?
Pat McAfee
I don't think it was the moment. The moment worked. Did you hear the crowd?
Dan Lanning
The crowd was great. But I do have a little superstition. It's like, okay, tried that. Didn't work. You know, so I'll probably.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Dan Lanning
Just before we get to that part tomorrow, you were already. That's maybe I didn't take enough off.
Pat McAfee
What tattoos does he have, Donna?
Dan Lanning
I've got more tattoos than you realize. I got some hidden tats, both quads, elephant.
Pat McAfee
Especially with. Okay, what would you say, characterize, like, the. I don't know. How do I say this? Like, if we were to describe your football team.
Dan Lanning
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I think with you at the coach, we'd always say, like, the defense is going to hunt. There's going to be dogs everywhere. Great. Is that how you would describe this team? Like, how do you think this team is taking shape and what is kind of their story, if you will?
Dan Lanning
Our identity. I mean, I hope people watch us and they say they're relentless.
Bo Nix
Right.
Dan Lanning
In all phases.
A.J. Hawk
Right.
Dan Lanning
We're a team that plays for each other. I hope you see love and connection. Like, that's something we want to see show up and then, you know, the kind of team that wants to drag you to deep water and choke you out. So, you know, that's. That's. That's the thought process behind us.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I like that. And going in deep water is where I. I don't want to be, especially with people that hail from this particular part of the world. It is beautiful out here.
Dan Lanning
Unbelievable.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I will say that.
Dan Lanning
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
The only reason I come out here is because of you, so I appreciate you, man. Yeah. I think we all only come out here because of you, and we are. Well. And your team. That's amazing. Getting out here is beautiful right now. We can't see it because of the fog, but whenever you get people, it's.
Dan Lanning
Going to break before the show's done. You're going to see. It's going to get better.
Pat McAfee
We saw it earlier. Earlier.
Con Man
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Yeah. So it's actually kind of cool about it. Yeah. Yeah. Selling this place, I think, is a big deal. Getting people here, obviously, is a part of it.
Dan Lanning
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Then once they get here, selling it, Oregon, obviously, everybody knows the Nike background and the history in sports, the investment in sports. But it's also like, it's different with how beautiful the place you're in a postcard. How much of that kind of works to your benefit and what are kind of the selling points of Oregon?
Dan Lanning
Well, you said it. I mean, ultimately, for me, it's about picking best, not most convenient. And this place offers something that doesn't exist anywhere else in sports. And, yeah, it's the. It's the hour and a half from the coast. It's an hour from the mountains. It's a place to go and become the best version of yourself without Distractions. Right. We're not in the middle of the big city you drive to. Works the same day, same every single day. You're not going to beat courtside at a Lakers game or at a Young Jeezy concert. Every night you're going to be focused on football, becoming a great student, becoming a great. A great player. And I think that's what this place sells. You want to go somewhere where you're not going to have the distractions, you're going to have the opportunity to grow, build unbelievable connections with people all over the world. This is that place.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. There's great connections, obviously here, and you've certainly proved that you can take guys and put them into the next level and have a lot of success. Your resume, quickly. How old are you?
Dan Lanning
39. Aging quick.
Ty
Jesus Christ.
Dan Lanning
This. My wife was making fun of my beard last night. See how gray is that? The secret is that what you're doing, it's all gray.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I'm 38.
Dan Lanning
If I shave, my face would look super fast.
Stanford Steve
That so?
Pat McAfee
No, no, no, it wouldn't.
Tone
We're very similar.
Dan Lanning
Science or what?
Pat McAfee
You know what science? I'm talking.
A.J. Hawk
Oh, no, no.
Dan Lanning
I'm not doing that Science.
Pat McAfee
It'll give you a jawline.
Ty
Really?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Look at this thing. I've never had one either. I'm Irish. Thank you. Okay. Yeah, I'm honest. This thing comes right here. Normally. Grab a little science. Thank you. 20, 25. Thank you. To all these people. All of a sudden, we're shaving our face also. You know what I mean? That's. You have a good jawline in there.
Dan Lanning
Strong jaw loading. Yeah, Yeah. I got a good job.
Pat McAfee
Football season, though. I don't know if you need to be taken any science. You got a lot of boys.
Dan Lanning
No, no science for me, man.
Pat McAfee
Has a question for you, coach.
Tone
Yeah, Coach. I also have some grays and look like when I shave my face, so. I feel you. There you are rushing for double sword man.
Pat McAfee
What do we do?
Dan Lanning
That wasn't even intentional.
Pat McAfee
That wasn't even intentional.
Ty
Yes, it was, Coach.
Tone
You're rushing for like 235 a game. I believe in your second in the nation in yards per carry. When you started this season, did you envision that's how your team would be built going through the run? And then also I wanted to ask you about the bye week because you came out of the bye week a little banged up. Did you guys just beat the shit out of each other during the bi week?
Pat McAfee
Great question.
Dan Lanning
We want to be a team that can Beat you multiple ways. Right. We want to be a team that can beat you on the ground and beat you in the air. You know, you have a lot of different strengths. I think high school coaches are the best in the world at saying, okay, what do you have available and how.
Con Man
Do you use it?
Dan Lanning
We want to be that team. And we can beat you with running, we can beat you with the, you know, in the air attack, you know, and ultimately, I think you have to fit off the skill set of your players. I don't think anybody in the nation right now uses more running backs than we do tight ends, than we do personnel groups. So we have a lot of variety, and I think that makes us really hard to defend as far as beating each other up. You were physical. It's a game that requires physicality. What's weird about some of the injuries we've had, a lot of them have been non contact. So you know that that's. It is what it is. That's the sport of football. But strength in numbers has shown up for us. And we always say, next man up, got to be ready to roll. And we've had some guys do a great job stepping up.
Pat McAfee
Next man up is obviously a mantra that. That a lot of football teams carry because there is going to be injuries regardless. Your mantras week to week, though, are pretty legendary.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Do you. Will we learn post game?
Dan Lanning
Maybe.
Pat McAfee
Is this one sweet? Is this.
Dan Lanning
No, it's nothing special, man.
Pat McAfee
What?
Dan Lanning
Look, it's got motivations, overrated motivations.
Pat McAfee
I think you're one of the best motivators. I think that is like one of the separators for you as a human, don't you think?
Dan Lanning
I think our players. Players is the separator for me, what they go out there and they do on the field. Yeah, I want to light the fire. Spark. Spark it a little bit for them. But, you know, that wears off. You got to go out and execute, and our guys have done an unbelievable job of executing. Certainly, we have a message this week and it's going to be fun to see it all play out.
Pat McAfee
It's fun to watch your leadership style. Actually, Ty has a question for you about that.
Ty
Yeah, what's up, Ty? Coach, first and foremost, I don't know if you've had the opportunity yet, but if you want to thank that jackass Kirk, Herb street for really blowing up, you know, the Iowa Oregon game.
Dan Lanning
I sent an apology to Pat about that. I knew, Ty, that would bother you. Can you at least give me a little Lou Holtz question here before it's.
Pat McAfee
All said, you know what?
Ty
Yes, I can. Listen, Coach, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do this. But during that Iowa game, you know, you're getting pissed on in the rain, and you got, you know, a cotton sweatshirt on. I'm thinking, jesus Christ, is this guy a psychopath? But I am curious. When did you kind of adopt that mantra and say, hey, you know what? Fuck the rain gear. I don't need that garbage. I'm gonna be in the sun stuff that my boys are in because I want to show them, hey, listen, I'm in the fight with you guys. I would like to say, though, so I'm just. Just curious. When did you start doing that? But also, coach is getting late in the season. It's getting cold. I can't have you getting pneumonia and missing a goddamn game. So maybe just think about that. But I am curious about when that tactic started, because I love it. I wish I would have been doing that in South Bend 20 years ago.
Dan Lanning
Coach, Coach, thank you. It's an honor to get a question from you. Yeah, I don't know. I've always kind of been that way. You know, you might catch me in practice.
Ty
Rip.
Dan Lanning
Rip a top off just so these guys can know, hey, look, it's not bad. Let's go play ball. So that's kind of always been my mindset, you know, I came in the locker room at the Iowa game, and there was, like, this little contraption that was supposed to be, like a heat warmer or something. It's like, what's this? A microphone?
Con Man
You got guys.
Dan Lanning
You guys got the mic, you know, miked up. They're like, no, no, Coach, you could. You could wear that in your gear. I was like, hey, man, mama didn't raise. No, I'm not wearing that. So, yeah, we don't put it.
Pat McAfee
I don't know.
Dan Lanning
It's. It's just, like, as close as I can get to it, you know, and. And not be in the action with these guys.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Being in the fight, though. Yeah. You know, like, that's. That's a thing.
Dan Lanning
And also, maybe at some point, I'm like, oh, guys, it's too bad.
Pat McAfee
Lou Holt's age. I think you should. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dan Lanning
But at that point, I'm sure I'll start putting a jacket on at some point.
Pat McAfee
How about Lou Holtz, though? Just finding some real inspiration almost from you. He said he's one of the goats. He said if he could go back, he would take from you. Is that what he said? Ty Is that what Ty and Lou Holtz said? Is that what he said?
Ty
Yeah, absolutely. You know, I was, you know, wearing the.
Pat McAfee
The.
Ty
The bunny ears over by, you know, I had to make sure. I tell you what. One thing Coach Lula want to be on the sideline is Colt. That's when, you know, he starts being a mean cuss. He may be, you know, taking some players off the field, you know, start getting a little distracted. But. But, you know, Coach Lou ain't a hard ass like Dan Lanning is. That's maybe something he could adopt if he could go back.
Pat McAfee
Hey, Coach, what do you think of Dan Lanning? If you had to give, like, a descriptor on what type of coach he is from the outside looking in.
Ty
Mean cuss. I say he's the. You know, I had the thing with Jimmy Johnson back in the day. He said, forget the damn football game. I'll meet you in the parking lot and I'll beat the shit out of you myself. I tell you what, I wouldn't be saying that to Dan Lanning if I was getting ready to play an Oregon Ducks football team because that dumb bitch would knock me out real quick.
Pat McAfee
That's right, Coach. That's right, Coach. I think you'd be able to hold your own maybe at your younger age, because you are Lou Holtz. But you're right. Madman in this tattoo says he's willing to just sit in the fight. That's like, aj, that's the most painful spot, right?
A.J. Hawk
It's gotta be. Most painful spot. And yours goes from, like, armpit to waist.
Dan Lanning
Yeah. Funny story. You know, they asked you, you want the cream? I'm like, no, I don't want no. No cream. They started kind of in the bottom, and that's where my wife. Wife's tatas are. And I was about to walk out there with just a set of, Hey, I can't. I'm just about to have two.
Pat McAfee
Two on the.
Dan Lanning
On my side, and I'm rolling out.
Bo Nix
Of this bad boy.
Dan Lanning
But, you know, six hours later, it was worth it, right?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Dan Lanning
She didn't know I was doing it. So when I walked in, she was kind of pissed off. But, you know, she's got her claim. She's got her claim. You know, it's like she staked her territory.
Pat McAfee
Absolutely. You know, but that commitment out of you, that is very painful. But let's get back to ball, shall we? AJ Has a question for you about your team.
A.J. Hawk
You're talking about. Actually, I want to pivot quick to the motivation situation. Who who motivates you? Who do you look for? Is there anyone you talk to that. That gets you juiced? I'm sure every game you always want to have a plan and what you're going to do, how you're going to approach it. But who, who motivates you?
Dan Lanning
I mean, just the opportunity more than anything. It's not necessarily a person, you know, your kids, right. The, the players that you coach for. Just the chance to get up and get to do what I do every day, I think I'm. I'm really lucky. Anybody that gets to be in this profession, yes, there's some headaches that exist, but to get to do what we do, if you don't take advantage of that and recognize that opportunity, I never want to waste it. So, yeah, pretty self motivated, I guess I'd say in that, that area.
Pat McAfee
How long you been coaching? I remember the story goes, you drove to Pitt, I think, right from Arizona to get your first gimmick. And then how long has it been now?
Dan Lanning
Since 2008. That was. I coached high school football first. Been in College since 2011.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So the business of football, obviously you don't have NFL experience or anything like that, but now you are in the epicenter of the business of college football. The change of college football. Your name also, we would like to say isn't even really getting brought up at places shouldn't. I think that's sick. We actually pointed that out. I think that is not being talked about at all. Your name is not being mentioned for any of these jobs because of how open. You've said the grass is damn green here. But also business wise, you have to deal with a lot, I think. Right. Everybody talks about that, but managing all of it. How have you kind of have evolved in that world and how hands on are you in that world?
Dan Lanning
Yeah, that certainly involved. I think as a head coach, you want to be involved in every part of your program. Lucky to have some great people around that support me and allow us to be able to do what we do. And then also some people that I trust within our program that can attack, you know, and, and ultimately you want to maintain the focus. Every piece matters. It's not one thing in your program that matters. But if you can be involved in all of it and trust people like hire people you trust, you're going to have success.
Pat McAfee
All right, Connor has a question for you about this weekend. Go ahead, Con man.
Con Man
Yeah, Coach, real quick, back on the mascot. The orange Oregon duck isn't really up there just because he's all politics. If you could pull up the door dash ad. The Oregon Duck actually forced his way onto the door dash l rap. He's all politics. You can see his little right arm there holding a piece of pizza. So don't ever even think about throwing him in the same category as Jackson deville. You know, Toro and Blue. Let's forget about what's the problem here.
Dan Lanning
Because he's making money with a pizza ad.
Pat McAfee
What's the problem? Oh, yeah, yeah, that.
Con Man
That's what everyone says.
Pat McAfee
What's going on?
Ty
That's.
Pat McAfee
What about Oregon.
Con Man
Hey, we need the mascot to bring in money. Phil Knight and everybody else aren't writing enough blank checks. But let's forget about that favorite team.
Dan Lanning
I can tell there's some.
Stanford Steve
This is.
A.J. Hawk
Look, I consider myself.
Con Man
I consider myself a mascot aficionado, so I want to keep it real. Don't even get me started on the Atlanta Braves blooper. That guy talks way too much. Stick to the gimmick. The Duck is great, though. All politics. Way too much from the Duck. He's doing too much. You only been talking about the players. The Duck's all about himself. It's ridiculous. But again, hey, that's.
Pat McAfee
That's your camp.
Con Man
You can get your camp in order if you want to.
Pat McAfee
Connor, the head fell off. The Duck lost its head.
Con Man
Bingo. Yeah, exactly.
Pat McAfee
You can't.
Con Man
You can't be showing your face everywhere, acting like you're the talk of the town, and then running out and having your head fall off. That is ridiculous. That is bush league. That is the exact reason why the Duck isn't in the NFL.
Pat McAfee
There is a difference from the top. Not just.
Con Man
There's a difference in the football, not just the mascots. But let's talk about Oregon, usc. Let's forget about the Duck, okay? Oregon, usc, I feel put the Duck to bet for people right now. I don't think Oregon, USC strikes them as, like a rivalry. You guys have been at the top of college football for a long time, and USC has had their ups and downs. Can you just talk about that rivalry and kind of what it means to Eugene with USC coming to town? Because I, for one game day, going there a second time, I'm worried about the, you know, the juice of the entire thing. Game day, the. The stadium, everything like that. But can you talk about how fired up these people are to kind of go in there, cheer on their Ducks against a real rival usc?
Dan Lanning
Yeah, we got unbelievable fans. They're going to bring on the juice, and it's kind of neat as the PAC12 broke up. The fact that a lot of us moved into the Big Ten, it's really kept a lot of those things alive. A lot of things that exist about, you know, west coast teams getting the opportunity to compete against in this great conference. And this is certainly one of those games, right? Getting to play against usc. But our fans will bring it. I'm not worried about that. They got juice. They always do.
Pat McAfee
You doubt it? No. Nope.
Dan Lanning
You'll see them.
Pat McAfee
Why'd you point out, you know, they'll bring the juice. Every time I come out here for one of these shows. Game day.
Dan Lanning
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I am blown away by your fans.
Dan Lanning
They're awesome, man.
Pat McAfee
Legit. It's so early in the morning. Morning.
Dan Lanning
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
So loud.
Dan Lanning
Nocturnal, man.
Pat McAfee
It feels like you kind of. It does. And then there's a toga thing happening because the Animal House, it's. It's a special family. We were just here though, like three weeks ago, it felt like. And it's special. Obviously. Everybody's excited to be there. Speaking of being here, ladies and gentlemen, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, Bo. Knicks.
Dan Lanning
How about that?
Stanford Steve
Big weekend.
Dan Lanning
Big weekend.
Pat McAfee
What's going on, dude? Let me. Let me see if we can get. You should get in here. Let me get you in here. What up? We gotta get. Get close. We got to get close.
Bo Nix
How you doing?
Dan Lanning
I'm no, see.
Pat McAfee
Good, man.
Dan Lanning
We just talked the other day and. And then you went and beat my Chiefs, man. Well done.
Pat McAfee
Well, somebody else is about to beat your Chiefs this weekend. Hey. Hey, B, real quick. Can you talk before we let him go back to his job? Obviously. Huge game this weekend about kind of what an Oregon team or a program is like with him as your coach. He feels like the. One of the most electrifying humans we've ever been around.
A.J. Hawk
Obviously, Bo, he is.
Bo Nix
And he doesn't fake it when he gets on screen. This is what you get at all times. And he's one of the best coaches in America, in my opinion. And he helped me get to where I am today. I owe him a lot. But obviously I'd be saying the same stuff if he wasn't on the program with us. But I love Coach Lanning.
Pat McAfee
We.
Bo Nix
We had a great two year run together and I wish I could run it back any day.
Dan Lanning
Love you, buddy. Appreciate you, man. Keep balling. Y' all should see Pat run this show from up here.
Pat McAfee
He's got all these buttons.
Dan Lanning
It's impressive, man.
Pat McAfee
Come on. Come on, man. I appreciate you.
Dan Lanning
Got a little gear for you over here.
Pat McAfee
Oh, you're the man. Thank you for that. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We love you, ladies and gentlemen. D. They're clapping for you. So you know that they're clapping for you. They're clapping for you, Bo. Hey, Sorry, brother. That was perfect, actually. I'm happy you got a chance to. Hold on, let me.
Bo Nix
Perfect timing. I needed to holler at coach real quick anyway. That was good.
Pat McAfee
What did you want to say to him? Did you want to get anything from me? You need some more organ gear? They just brought me a box. I can ship it your way if you need it.
Bo Nix
Hey, listen, they take care of us just fine. We got all the gear we need. Trust me.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it seems like that's kind of been the story about Oregon way before the NIL era. Always had the greatest gear. This place is special. There's a fog happening right now behind me that is absolutely outrageous. And doing some numbers to our cameras currently. So we appreciate you kind of dodge, duck, dip diving and dodging with us. Let's talk about you. So we had Sean Payton on, on the show the night you were drafted during our draft spectacular. And he couldn't stop talking about how it was like love at first meet with you. Obviously, he loved the film, but then once he started talking to you, the person, it was like an instant connection. What was that from your side? Did you feel that as well? Because there's obviously AJ got drafted number five overall. Obviously he got drafted high. I got picked 222. You know, so we're kind of in the same boat here. But whenever, like, there's some teams you feel a better connection with, there's some coaches that you feel a better connection. You're like, hoping for is that something that happened with Sean Payton? And don't feel obligated to say yes, even though you kind of are in this moment. But what are your thoughts of, like, from Sean Payton meeting him to now?
Bo Nix
Well, I loved our, our visit when he came out to Eugene. We were able to sit down and, you know, really go through a hour long, you know, a couple hour long meeting talking football with him and Davis, my quarterback coach now. And, you know, we just, just literally went through a, an install and we talked a lot about football where, where it originated, how he got it, and we watched some video along with it. Watch some of my stuff, how it compared. And I always knew we had a, you know, just similar background, similar style. He likes the quick aim, he likes the, the shots, and, and obviously I love throwing the football. So for me, it was, you Know, it was all about going to a place to be with a coach that in my opinion, had so much knowledge and so much experience that I could learn from. And that's exactly what I got with coach. And then I think underrated is Davis Webb, my quarterback coach. He's just, he's always prepared me extremely well, especially from the get go. You know, he played the position and you know, know what it's like to walk into a game. And so he prepares me on a, on a very good level and we're always, you know, ready for the task at hand.
Pat McAfee
I love to hear that about you and your coaches. Your coaches feel the same exact way about you. That's a beautiful thing. That means you're an absolute dog on the field and off the field. We respect and appreciate that. Especially with the future of the NFL being in your hands from last year to this year. Going into the season, okay, going into the season, you guys were like super bowl darlings by everybody. And it was always because how good the defense is. This defense, this defense, this defense can win. Sean Payton going to be good on offense is how everybody just kind of you. Sean Payton, for you, from last year to this year, whole different ball game. Understanding what NFL defenses are doing, what, understanding what your offense is like. How do you describe last year versus this year? And you guys obviously up and to the right. Brother. Congratulations on all the hard work.
Bo Nix
Well, thank you. But it, it definitely one starts with a defense in this league. You got to be able to stop people. And it comes down to the end so many times to where we just feel comfortable with our defense that they're going to go out there and get a stop no matter what happens. They rush the passer at a, you know, all time, you know, effective way and they do a great job downfield covering guys and make open field tackles. A lot of erasers on that defense. So we know at all times you're going to have to stop people. And if you can stop people, that's the name of the game. And offensively we're, you know, at times we've been great this year, at times we've struggled. But, but I think when it matters most, we, we know how to go down there and just finish out the game and do what we need to do to close it out. And you know, it's not always an easy, you know, four quarters, everybody acts like we're great in the fourth quarter, but I just think we're great at finishing the football game. And you know, we, we have timely possessions where we score points, we score touchdowns, we get a field goal, whatever it may be, we tend to go down there and do it. But at the same time, you know, we've done it for a couple weeks now in a row, but we still got to continue on this, on this track and continue this, this role we're on. But it's not going to be easy. We got a really tough schedule down the stretch here and, you know, we just got to find ways to continue to close out these close football games that we've been in.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I think closing out games and winning games is a trait that great teams have, you know, and obviously you have five fourth quarter comebacks this season. That's tied for the most post alongside the Bears. That's some Hembo stats for you. It feels like we're just watching Will Lutz kind of come out and win games alongside every other kicker that is in a winning position and on a winning team. I, I, I want to let you know, Bo, you're fun to watch and we've seen a lot of you. Ty has a question for you.
Ty
Yeah, Bo, just curious, you know, now with the way college football is, we, we, a lot of times guys, you know, they'll have one prolific year and then they're going to the NFL and getting drafted high. But, but with guys like you and, you know, Brock Purdy comes to mind too, like a big talking point is these guys are so ready to play in the league because they started so much in college. Do you feel like that was the case with you, that you were kind of just ready to take that baton and run with it because you had so much experience playing college? Obviously the NFL is next level. You have to improve and learn. But how, how ready did you feel like you were when you got into the NFL?
Bo Nix
I feel like I was as ready as I could be. But at the same time, the NFL's, I mean, it's its own league, it's its own thing to where you even have to get some experience in that before you feel like you're, you know, super ready and prepared to go in each and every game. But I think playing as much as you can in college is only going to help a collegiate athlete and it's only going to help for the future. And so a lot of these guys that you know are making decisions, I think there's nothing wrong with going back and doing it again. And, you know, being in college, learning from your coaches, learning from experience and seeing defenses over and over and being in different types of games and Having different types of outcomes, I just don't think that's a bad thing. And I think in the grand scheme of things, when you look at myself, Jaden, you know, all of us that spent a lot of time in college, you know, it just showed up and we've been able to. It's. It's shown and it's, you know, it's allowed us to grow, I think, as younger players and have some success early.
Pat McAfee
What's your dims? What's your dims? What's your dimension? Sorry, you feel like you're a bit of a stout individual. Are you what I'm thinking?
Bo Nix
First of all, I didn't know where you were going with Dems there. I was gonna have to ask what that meant, but I'm glad you clarified. I'm 622 15, so I feel like there's so many of us in the league that are around 6 2, 63610 or 210 to 225, 230. I feel like we all fall in that category and I'm right there in the middle.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So they use that for traits whenever they're scouting guys and everything like that. But I think it matters. You have to be a little bit bigger to take some of the hits. Have you transformed how you kind of came into this season versus last year after taking some of the hits from. From grown ass men? Has that changed anything with you and how your body is?
Bo Nix
That's a great question. I focus this off season on maximizing, and it sounds crazy, but maximizing how athletic I think I can be and, and not neglecting that, and just being able to run as fast as I possibly can and be able to move as quick as I can. And I mean, the size is always gonna, you know, be there. And I feel like, you know, 215 for my frame is.
Pat McAfee
Is.
Bo Nix
Is plenty. I can get up to, you know, 220. And it's like, you know, I don't feel much of a difference, but I think the strength is there. And I think at this point in your career, you know, with the college strength and conditioning program, were you worried about strength? I think now with, I mean, because everybody in the league's athletic, if you can move away from people, if you can run, if you can try to avoid some guys and run for first down, I think that's where defenses, you know, they can't stand it. So a lot of us, you, you know, going into the league, if you look at a lot of the guys in the league right now up and coming the guys that are just showing up. I think the ability to escape is what sets guys apart. You know, you've seen Patrick do it for forever now. Josh does it at a high level. Obviously, Josh is, you know, different size than all of us. He's bigger than every single one of us, it feels like. But there's still an element of moving and getting away from the blitz and the pressures and being able to extend plays that I think just gives defenses a hard time.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I think everybody has to move nowadays. The strictly pocket quarterback is of days past. I think that's just natural evolution of athleticism amongst males, potentially especially in the sport of football. You. I don't know. I don't know. I don't immediately think it. You guys need to stop taking hits though, okay? You guys need to stop taking hits. You big athletic guy. Guys, hey, we're so super athletic, okay? Well, get your ass out of bounds or get down, okay? Because our league depends on you, all right? So you need to know that my livelihood, my happiness, okay? My daughter, I love her. My family, love my family. I will get happiness from my family, okay? But my happiness comes from NFL football. And you assholes, okay? You super athletic. Now, new quarterbacks are need to just. Let's not be as alpha all the time, okay? Let's just not take hit hits because we need you, okay? These eyes need you out there. All right? You got that?
Bo Nix
I got. I got it. And trust me, there's nobody that wants to avoid these big shots more than me.
Pat McAfee
No, me, I think it's me. Yeah. Sean Payton, probably as well. Sorry. Okay, let's talk about the youth of your team, seemingly. Go ahead, Tone.
Tone
Yeah, Bo, I want to. Obviously everybody knows Cortland Sutton. He's been in the league for a long time. He's been great for a long time. But your other wide receivers, Pat. Brian's a Rookie. Troy Franklin, second year. He's only 22 years old. Old. Marvin Mims, I believe, is only 23 years old, too. Obviously, you being young and coming in with these guys and building with this guy, with these guys, is it exciting? Because you know that you're also young and that you can continue just to keep getting better.
Bo Nix
Absolutely. It's, you know, being young is a great thing, but it's also, you know, in the league, they don't really wait on you, so you gotta, you know, mature as. As quick as you can. But we have a very, you know, all those guys that you just, you know, listed, they're extremely mature. They're great football players, and they're only going to get better in this, you know, in. During the season and then in their careers. But it's. I think it's good that we're all learning together, and we know that there's sort of a. A hurry to get better. It's like, as fast as you can get better, especially in this situation we're in, you know, going, you know, leading, you know, our division and playing really good football. We. The. The urgency to even get better is there. And, you know, it's great to have younger guys. They got all. Have, you know, fresh legs. They can run all day. They're eager, they're excited. They show up to work each and every day. And I think they're just very competitive dudes that, you know, we all just want to show up and do whatever we can to win. And right now, we're, you know, we're doing that now. There's a lot of room to grow, and, you know, we can just. Just watch over and over things that we. We can get better at. But I think that's the. The fun part of football.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you guys are number one team in the afc, okay? He said, yeah, we're leading the division. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Yes. Above the court. Actually had to have them pull this graphic up from my little monitor here to see where exactly we were sitting and where they were sitting, because I wanted to talk immediately, and then I was sharing this graphic. It's like, okay, Broncos number one thing with the afc, everybody needs to relax, okay? Everybody needs to show them their respect, as they should. Speaking of respect, your teammates are showing you a lot of respect. Go ahead, con man.
Con Man
Yeah, Bo. A lot of us are prisoners of the moment, and I would definitely throw myself in that category. So I apologize if you've ever seen any of my tweets about you. I take them all back. Especially after your unbelievable performance against the Chiefs. It feels like you have kind of silenced all the doubters. And Adam Trotman gave a great post game. Just about people who do talk crazy about you. And, you know, you go out and have that performance, and it's unbelievable. And you beat the Chiefs. And then the conversation this week is more so about the Chiefs losing and the Broncos, you know, going out there and getting a massive win. Do you guys have that bunker mentality within the, you know, the building where, hey, everybody else can talk about whatever the hell they want? We're nine and two. We're the one seed. At the end of the day, that is indisputable they can't really say anything about that. How is the team when it comes to that mentality? And does this feel like one of the closest teams you've ever been on?
Bo Nix
We actually do talk about how close our team is. You know, we just got a lot of young guys. I mean, I think our oldest guys are year eight, year nine. So we're just all in similar stages of life. I think that's what makes us close. But we also know what it was like last year. We know it was like to lose some of these close games, and so we have turned some of those around. We have had a better record in close football games this year. But. But I do think it just goes back to the, you know, the confidence and the belief of the team. We believe that we can win these games. We're not going up. And, you know, I feel like last year sometimes we, like, didn't expect or didn't think we were going to find a way to win at the end. And then after a couple of those games this year that went our way, we just kind of felt like, hey, guys, we got this. We can win these close games. We got really good defense that we can lean on. We got offensive playmakers that are going to make plays when time comes and then. And Will's done a great job in clutch time. And so when you look at our team, look at how close we are, we just know what it can be like on the other side. So we don't try to get too focused up in the, you know, the, the narrative or the perception we. That can go so many different ways. You're. You're exactly right in, in the, you know, it's all about, you know, the moment. We get so stuck in the moment to where in another week people will be saying something totally different. So we try not to get too caught up in the chaos of. Of what's going on outside. We just try to, you know, live within our building and go to work every day, find ways to get better that there's so many, you know, on clips or out there, that list of things that we have to, you know, grow and get better at. And I think that's also what's keeping us a little bit urgent and hungry. We know we have these things to get better at, and so we won't. We don't really have time to sit around and act like we've, you know, made it, because we really haven't. We're just, you know, we're winning close games and that's what's put us in this situation right now.
Pat McAfee
Hell yeah.
Bo Nix
Bo.
Pat McAfee
Hey, I don't know if you know this man or not, but it's a compliment when I say this, and I think a lot of people take it the same way. I don't want you to take it any other way. You sound exactly like Kevin o' Connell when you're speaking. And that's good. Not bad. Every answer you give is like of a leadership what you're hoping for your quarterback to be. And we appreciate the hell out of you. I want to give you a nice shot here of these trees and maybe take you back to your time in Eugene and maybe get a little feeling as they test the sky cam for tomorrow's massive game against USC here at Austin. We appreciate the hell out of you, Bo. Good luck the rest of the way. Stay healthy.
Bo Nix
Thank you so much for having me today. And by the way, go Ducks. They're going to get it done.
Pat McAfee
What's the final score? What's the score? What's the score?
Bo Nix
I think Dante and the boys, they'll put up 31 points and our defense will hold them to 17. It'll be 31. 17 ball.
Pat McAfee
Oh, it's pretty good. You're the man, ladies and gentlemen.
Bo Nix
They will be mad though.
Pat McAfee

Football it's what's happening. Austin Stadium with a beautiful view. There you go, Pat. I see you. Look at the fog rolls out and here we are like it's a new. You're in a new place.
Pat McAfee
It seems like yeah, the fog rolls in, the fog rolls out. It's ball season. Let's all ball out. So I think the good news about what is taking place this morning is we got the eeriness of Eugene, Oregon in there. Kind of set the scene for what USC is going to have to walk into tomorrow. Lincoln Riley and the boys have to take on an Oregon team that is different and better and only looking for the College Football Playoff at this moment, only one loss in the College Football Playoff committee. Who said, listen, Oregon, you don't be. Don't be messing around. Dan Lanning joined us earlier. He was awesome. Bo Nix joined us earlier. He was awesome. The view has now become absolutely spectacular back here and tomorrow morning should be absolutely electrifying on college game day, which will be live on X and espn. I guess it's been a huge year for all of college ball, even with the hiccup in, hey, we don't get along with each other right now because we both are trying to make our businesses survive, which is certainly something that took place in the middle of ball. Don't love that that happened at all. None of us do. But we're happy to be on the other side of it. It should be a glorious football weekend. And it started great last night as the Houston Texans get a gigantic dub over the Buffalo Bills. And now the entire conversation leading into week 12 is is this Buffalo Bills tango with Super Bowl? AJ this is Buffalo Bills going Super bowl or are they just going to have the best player in ball and not be able to get it done? And how do they transform into a team that gets them both? And that's what happens in week 12 when you lose on Thursday night to the Houston Texans and get sacked eight times and have a defense that's not able to get a stop whenever you need it?
A.J. Hawk
AJ HAWK yeah, that's the problem, Mike. If you're going to lose a game, lose a one o' clock Sunday game. Right. That not a whole lot of people see. Like, when you lose a prime game, especially a game like this, to where you get sacked eight times and turn the ball over three times as a team. Yeah. I think people are going to question you a little bit more than they. They normally would. I was. I mean, I. I was on record saying I thought these Buffalo Bills were a team that was going to the super bowl this year. I can't say I'm as confident in that statement as. As I was maybe a couple months ago right now. I don't. I don't know, man. They've been banged up, obviously, but Josh Allen is a generational talent, and for.
Pat McAfee
Whatever reason, his team can't figure out Keon Coleman.
Tone
Yeah.
Dan Lanning
What is that?
A.J. Hawk
What's the official statement? What's the official statement from the coaches? Is there anything.
Con Man
I think the official statement is just he's a shipbird. I don't know if there is any other official statement. I mean, if you're the.
A.J. Hawk
He showed up late, right? Is that he showed up late.
Pat McAfee
So last week, missed a team meeting.
Ty
Yeah. And then this Thursday I saw. They kind of blamed it on, like, well, it was a short week, so, you know, he just needs to keep stacking days so we can get him out there next week.
Con Man
And then I saw Tyrell Shaver. Sorry, my bad. I saw Tyrell Shavers, the rookie wide receiver, talk about their relationship, about he's the big brother and Keon Coleman's the little brother.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, well, I think that's Trace McGregor. Coleman.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. He's part of ownership. He's so he obviously, I think from ownership, going down and talk to young buck OG in sports. Who is. How many years did he play? We just watch him play in Atlanta a couple years ago.
A.J. Hawk
Who is TMac?
Pat McAfee
How many years did Vince play?
Con Man
Oh, Vince played 20, I think.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. This is Tracy McGrady. How many years did he TMAC play?
Con Man
Oh, I want to say at least 15, because he had, he had, he had magic. Magic to Raptors. Fifteen.
Pat McAfee
Did we see. We saw Vince?
Tone
Did we saw Vince?
Pat McAfee
No. Yeah, I know we saw Vince, right? Yeah, go ahead.
Ty
Yeah, no, no, TMac, that, that was like Vince's kind of like last, last go around when we saw him in Atlanta.
Pat McAfee
Did I see TMac in a Pacer? I don't know. Whenever you see. You just think like legend and you think like super og. Whenever you think of, like, certain guys, tmac, obviously one of them talking to young players, saying, hey, you got a tough. Tighten your up I think Dion Dawkins said the same thing last week after the game. Said, hey, I think you need to tighten this thing up. He needs to continue to grow. It's like, I hate hearing that. And in the Buffalo Bills building, I like that they're holding him accountable, but I didn't think this was possible in that building, A.J. like, I thought that was kind of not really the thing, which I guess is why they're trying to publicly make sure people know that it's not their thing. Like, hey, yeah, this guy's not acting right. This is not how this is going to go is seemingly what the Buffalo Bills are not only saying to Keegan Coleman, but to anybody that is to join the Buffalo Bills. Like, this is not what we're about over here, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, I would think that that's the thing where the coach is setting the tone, letting people know. Like, let everybody else know if you're not. If you're going to show up late, if you're going to do. You're not going to be a pro, which we always talk about being a pro. Like, there's consequences for your actions, and that's what you're doing. You're trying to make sure you. You cut this off right now from Keon Coleman. But you also, hey, none of these young guys coming into your facility, they know that, hey, you know, they sat Keon Coleman for a primetime game. Like, hey, you can't be doing this kind of stuff.
Pat McAfee
We want to tolerate with no deep threat. They sacked you on Coleman with no deep threat. They needed.
A.J. Hawk
When they actually really needed him. They could have used him last night, obviously.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. They need Keon Coleman. And they're like, nope, we're not doing it. Which I respect them. I respect it.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. We will not jeopardize our culture for anything. There is nothing that will get in the way of that. I respect it. Schottenheimer had to make some tough decisions. Schottenheimer had to make some tough decisions. Obviously, we saw as CD Lamb and George Pickens missed the first drive, and then we saw CD Lamb and George Pickens take over the rest of the game. There's now a quote that has come out from CD Lamb that basically said it was disrespectful to even suggest that he was thrown up in a casino, which is why he was suspended. Did we have a few drinks? Certainly. Were we at Red Rock? Yeah. Did we miss a curfew? So what? It's hard, you know, what do you want from us? How'd we play Perfect. But you guys saying that I was puking and all this stuff. Relax. I'm an adult, okay? I can hoot with the Owls, soar with the Eagles. Always have. You saw how we played. Let's just talk about that now. We can't be missing curfew, which I assume is what Shawty said. Boys, come on. This is like the most Las Vegas thing of all time. You can't just miss curfew in Las Vegas. And CD Lamb and George Pickens say you never walk away from a heater. They could have been on a blackjack heater that we have no idea about, but they miss curfew. CD comes out with one of the most legendary quotes of all time. And Shoddy and the Dallas Cowboys move on after a massive win. That's kind of how I see this all unfolding. But I don't like the trend here of team meetings and curfews and all this being missed. We're in the middle of big time football right now, boys. You know, this is November. We're trying to win a damn super bowl out here. And maybe, you know, Jerry Jones going on to record and saying, you think I give a about football right now? There's $100 billion of natural gas underneath our feet right now. You think I care about football? Maybe that sets a little bit of a standard around everybody else, so you don't have to be completely locked in. Or maybe they just missed curfew, accidentally shotty had to punish him. And there is two biggest stars, big be who you can afford to be, basically. And they go crazy after making a mistake. I'm happy that we kind of move on. This isn't a big deal. I'm happy CD Lamb had a hilarious quote, but I don't like the trend of potentially people just, you know, not respecting the profession of being an athlete. You know what I mean? AJ I'm not saying that this is that, but I'm saying Keon Coleman's story, this story, if we go back to last year with what we were hearing on the Colts, but it's like, I think every. I don't think. I don't think any generation is immune to people not being pros. But in 2025, I didn't think it was going to happen anymore because how business oriented everybody is, basically, if that makes sense, A.J.
Con Man
Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
And these guys have, like been treated like professionals since they were probably 12 years old. We know how good they are in the different seven on seven teams and travel teams, aau basketball, like they've they understand what it's about. But think about. You can kind of turn around Miami Dolphins. I know Gump's sitting over there with you. We heard a lot of stuff coming out. We heard a head coach even saying, what am I going to do? Find them. These guys don't care about getting fined money, and I don't. We haven't heard a whole lot of that stuff. And they've actually won a few ball games now.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we figured it out. Jack Jones told us he loves coach.
Stanford Steve
Called him a genius.
Pat McAfee
As you guys can see, Gumpy has his microphone pointed directly at the death. Perfect. As you guys see there.
Dan Lanning
See there?
Stanford Steve
There we go.
Pat McAfee
Sick clock, though. Sick clock. Sick clocks. So underneath that clock there is that. Can you lift the. Can you lift the clock? How is it taped on or what is it?
A.J. Hawk
You can lift it.
Pat McAfee
No, it's kind of looking. Look at that. It's just like an outlet. Yeah. A thermostat light type thing there, I think.
A.J. Hawk
Sweet wooden frame around it.
Ty
That's old school.
Pat McAfee
That wooden frame. That wooden frame was just added, I do believe. Need some paint on, especially in this weather. Yeah. So that wooden thing was just added by a man named Shane. Okay. Shane is an OPS worker here at the stadium at ots. And that thing had no wood around it. That thermostat was just sitting over Gumpy's shoulder. In this particular shot with where we are. President Suite. Very nice. They have like a little seemingly smoking area here of the suite. And then there's a spot over there. I don't want to describe it how I would view this particular area, but this feels like a smoking balcony. It's kind of covered and there's seemingly stuff like. I don't know if that's what people are doing here, but that's how I would certainly view this presidential suite. So it very kind. Thankful that they put us in here. Here, Gumpy, that's the spot he's at. Didn't have any guy named Shane built all that this morning for Gumpy to cover that up. Think about that. Built that thing, the clock. He built that clock. I have no idea how you even. Yeah, this Shane guy. Hey, thank you, buddy.
Ty
That's the organ baby Shane, Call him a guyver.
A.J. Hawk
Could just draw a picture on a sheet of paper maybe and taped it over.
Ty
That'd be a half measure.
Pat McAfee
There was a whole. There's a whole story behind it. There's a whole story behind it.
Tone
That'd be a high state thing to do. Oregon doesn't take half measures.
Pat McAfee
Hey, who's the Big Ten champs right now?
A.J. Hawk
I don't know.
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Season still going on?
Pat McAfee
Oregon. Oregon's the reigning Big Ten champs. Have some respect.
A.J. Hawk
Isn't it amazing how these big.
Ty
These.
A.J. Hawk
These conference championship games have just taken on a different meaning now with the college football playoffs in the future?
Pat McAfee
Oh, classic. Classic. What do I. What did you do?
A.J. Hawk
I'm just saying, like, if you're. If I'm Ohio State, I'm thinking, hey, we get to the Big Ten championship, all right? Let's not get hurt. Let's not get hurt, guys. Not get our studs hurt before we go on a playoff run.
Pat McAfee
You sound like Coach Saban. Coach Saban says, I don't think he's going to be able to. It has opened up, but I don't know. He probably got.
A.J. Hawk
He's probably in line. There's probably 30 planes in front of him that are circling with him. Yeah.
Con Man
He hopped in the cockpit yet? Just sick of circling. Just. All right, I'm doing this myself.
A.J. Hawk
My parachute jump out.
Pat McAfee
I think he should maybe just start flying planes. That would be an incredible list. I understand it. What you want me to get. Are we firing any missiles? Last time I did this, we fired. He's the best. All right, let's talk a little bit about firing missiles. A.J. brown, the Philadelphia Eagles. Always, always. Not just some ways, not just halfways, always in the middle of something, seemingly still able to win, still able to put a great product on the field. But there's always some sort of drama. It is taking its next step. AJ Brown was interviewed about maybe the state of his ability currently at his locker. What would you say, dude, there's some speculation out there that you are not the same player.
Stanford Steve
I guess Aquan ain't the same player either, then.
Pat McAfee
All right, But I don't got no comment about it. I don't care about that. You obviously don't believe it. Y' all don't believe that. Okay, okay. So, you know, that was quick response. He's thought of that. He's thought of that. He's been seeing it. He's been seeing it. Like, AJ Actually just trash now. Like AJ Brown. Not. He's old news. This guy's washed. He's seeing the. That. He goes, oh, so I'm just. Because I'm not having the same year I had last year. I'm washed in his mind. He goes, let's start looking at some other people here. Saquon, how's he doing this year? Worse than last year. Okay, so is he Washed. Sweet. This guy just walks right into his trap. Hey, I read a couple tweets saying it may be your wash Boom response that he wasn't able to put on X right to this guy. Saquon Wash.
A.J. Hawk
Thanks.
Pat McAfee
Shut up. Next question. Let's move along here. What are we even talking about? AJ Is an incredible talent. AJ Brown's a game changer, a game wrecker right now. It does feel like, man, and I guess not right now. It has felt for some time now that maybe he doesn't love what's going on over there. A.J. what is the answer to this? And how do you feel about Coach Sirianni seemingly always having to juggle, you know, relationships. Relationships and drama at seemingly every single turn?
Dan Lanning
Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, think about all. When you think of an NFL football team, all the different personalities, everything you got to figure out as a head coach, Sirianni has a lot on his plate. And I understand AJ Brown being frustrated by that question. Wouldn't you? Like, I get it. If someone asks you that question. Like, hey, I don't know if you watch. You watch every single rep, buddy. Like, if. Even if I'm not. They're not getting me the ball. I'm still getting open. I'm still able to do things and play like I can. Just my numbers might not be there now.
Pat McAfee
I don't.
A.J. Hawk
I don't think you have to pull Saquon into it. I understand, you know, you're frustrated, but then he said, I got no comment on that. After you make a comment that you know is going to go around, probably.
Pat McAfee
You only got to talk about 2, 6. Go ahead and ask. Yeah. Hey, you wash. You wash, dude, our offense sucks this year. Are you all. Are you bad? All right. No other comments. Basically, is what.
A.J. Hawk
How's it going to fix it, though? How do we fix this? Like, obviously, if he gets 10 balls for 120 and two touchdowns in the next five games, it's a little bit.
Tone
Like, two weeks ago he kind of had that game and it's still.
Con Man
Yeah, like what. How did.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, Sirianni is doing some. Him and Dom are doing some great work behind the scenes, I guess. Probably just trying to keep this thing under wraps a little bit. Bit.
Pat McAfee
I don't know. Well, last year, remember, it was a big conversation about the wide receivers not getting the ball. Like, hey, Saquon Barkley kind of led the team through it all. Their run game and their offensive line was everything for that Philadelphia Eagles team. And then having Devonte and A.J. brown as weapons over the Top was certainly a nice added bonus to have two number ones that you can throw with whenever they have to stack the box. And they did all that. It was awesome to watch last year. Kelly Moe leaves. But they, they had an awesome offense last year and then they come into this year and they were still mad. Everybody was still mad last year. Sirianni had to balance that. And then at the end of the season, whenever they win the super bowl, the two guys that dumped the Gatorade on Coach Sirianni are the two wide receivers that have potentially been underutilized all year or maybe misrepresented in what they are to the offense or what they are around the league because they didn't get as many touches because it was running game. They're the ones that dumped the thing. So it was like, obviously the coach Sirianni was, was, you know, having to manage that because he's four wide receiver. I can give you a nine, right?
Tone
That's right.
Pat McAfee
He can do it right now if you really wanted to. So he understands that. But it just only continues. It's only continued because I think their offense has gotten worse and they still haven't been able to do it. So it's like, was this inevitable? Was this brewing? And I don't know. Ty, what do you think inevitably happens with Coach Sirianni, The Philadelphia Eagles, A.J. brown in the future and con man, if you want to tag this right after tomorrow, Ty talks about it. Everybody's saying A.J. brown wants to get back under the variable coaching tree. Everybody's saying that that's where A.J. brown's trying to go. Is that how you feel like this ends, Ty? Or what are your thoughts on how Coach Sirianni handles all this?
Ty
I mean, yeah, it seems like that, like they're, you know, Howie Roseman said at the trade deadline, like, hey, you don't trade away a guy like that when you're trying to win a Super Bowl. But it doesn't seem. And just based on what we do on Mondays with overreaction Monday, like, I don't see a whole lot of people. People obviously don't love these kind of comments from AJ Brown, but I think it's more so like they're talking about the offensive coordinator. You know, they're talking about Kevin Patulo. Like, this guy can't get it figured out. And luckily they have maybe a generational defense this year that has kind of eased that a little bit. But it just, I mean, I think this comes on the heels. I think AJ Brown either sat down with the Owner or Howie Roseman and basically said, like, hey, from here on out, like, I promise I'm. I'm not going to be a distraction. And then for this to come out out right away. But, like, Tony mentioned, like, they kind of had this thing where it was A.J. brown, he. He had, I think, one catch for four yards. One week they win, and it gets really loud, and then the next week, they come out and he has 10 catches in the first quarter. You know, so they. They. But it's like, at this point, you know, they're still trying to win a Super Bowl. Like, and for Sirianni, I'm sure it's just like, this is Groundhog day. Like, we're 8 and 2 right now, and this is all people want to talk about. Am I ever going to have the opportunity where I can just walk in and be like, hey, you know what? We're pretty good. Like, I understand you guys are unbelievable players, but, like, we really don't need to about it. About anything. Every single game we play, like, we should win if we do what we're supposed to do. But, yeah, it just. At this point, it's. It's a story every single week, no matter what happens. So it's. It's impossible to imagine that he's gonna, all of a sudden next week just be like, you know what? Everything is kind of in perspective, and I want to be here. Like, it seems like he is ultimately just going to be traded at the end of the season.
Con Man
Well, and you've mentioned, like, Pat, that he, you know, is always in the center or something, but he's also always been unbelievable since his rookie year. Like, he's never had a year where it's like, oh, no, maybe A.J. brown's losing a step. Like, nope, he is fantastic. And there's a clip of him sitting next to Jalen Hurts at the super bowl, and that was this year after they won. They're sharing lockers. It's great vibes. Everything is awesome. Celebration. We just want a ring. A.J. brown, Jalen hurts. Both of their first super bowl victories after losing the super bowl two years prior. So it's not as if they. They don't have that in their bag, but we are so far removed from that moment, and I don't know what the relationship is like. Clearly, it's not what that video shows, though, because if it was, then we wouldn't be here having this conversation. And you mentioned, you know, everyone is tagging them to New England. Throw myself in that. I am also saying, welcome to New England, buddy. You're going to love being a New England Patriot. But. But that's the thing. Look at the Patriots and Stephon Diggs. The whole entire conversation around Stefon Diggs for a long time, especially after he left the Bills, was diva. This guy only cares about how, you know, he wants his balls, he wants his touchdowns. Pause, as they say, his touchdowns, all those things. But at the same time, there is some sort of transparency in the building between coaches McDaniels, Drake May and Stephon Diggs that clearly isn't present with the. With the Eagles. I don't know if they're telling him, you know, one thing, like he's going to get 10 passes in the first half every single game, and then that's not happening. But there is some sort of lack of communication, at least outside looking in that it feels like.
Pat McAfee
I don't know if it's lack of communication. I assume there is communication coming from Sirianni. I think there's something that happened. I saw a tweet that was going around too, and I don't know if that's necessarily it, but it does feel. And I think I saw desean Jackson talking about it maybe on either his podcast or. Who is he with? He was with former running back from Miami, Clinton Portis. I think that's right.
A.J. Hawk
Portis.
Pat McAfee
Clinton Portis. Clinton Portis. I got a chance to do TV with Clinton Portis back in the day on NFL network.
A.J. Hawk
He's awesome.
Pat McAfee
2Am Call time. I laughed so hard at Clinton Porsche so many times. Now Clinton Porce got caught up in some stuff. I'm happy to see him back. Glen Porrest was very good to me and very hilarious. Him talking to desean Jackson, desean Jackson was like. Feels like something happened here. This feels like a personal relationship. The personal relationship could be kind of ruined from a numerous different things. Maybe not getting the ball on a regular basis when you think you're open, but also with a locker room. AJ These are humans interacting with humans. And Jason Kelsey talked about it on a morning show over there in Philadelphia about him and Lane Johnson getting into it so bad and actually not even talking to each other and they would consider each other best friends. He talked about how Stoutland, obviously the offensive line coaches like Jason Kelce's second father, you know, aside from Ed, and he got into it with him. It's like football brings out a lot of emotions and there's a lot of pride and there's obviously a lot of confidence and a lot of success and a lot of Alphas. It's like, is that manageable in the middle of a season for this team? It seems louder than last year, even.
A.J. Hawk
AJ yeah, it does seem louder than last year. And if you're a receiver, your whole life depends on your quarterback, though. Like, you can run the best routes in the world. You can be open every single play. If you don't get it to you, then people don't know what's going on other than your coaches could. Hey, man, don't worry. Keep working. I see you. I see you getting open. We'll get you the ball. Like, I don't know. I. It's good this is going to happen. As long as football is around, which is hopefully forever. We know that, like, we're receivers and people are going to want the ball. People are. If I don't get the ball enough, I want the ball. But the thing is, the Eagles are winning games. That's why the Eagles are their own.
Tone
Like, special word, their favorites to win the Super Bowl. Yeah, but they.
A.J. Hawk
They win. But they. They have all these issues that, like, I. I don't even want to call them issues, but they have noise around them. Distractions. Noise around them.
Pat McAfee
Distractions.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
If you get labeled a distraction in the NFL, you don't get a job. Okay. Like, that. That is literally what it is, because NFL teams don't want a distraction. Now, granted, if you're a really, really.
A.J. Hawk
Really good, you can have a job for a while, but eventually your plate drops one notch. See ya.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Yeah. Be who you can afford to be for sure. But if you get labeled a distraction because of how many distractions there already are and how hard it is to win an NFL game team, it's like they're trying to eliminate distractions at all times. That is literally what coaches and buildings are trying to do. Scared to death to add a distraction. And then the Eagles are just like one constant distraction and somehow get on the field and win. I don't know. They're defying football. They're defying professional football with how they're doing it, because it's. The teams that win are all locked in. I mean, you know, the Patriots, their dynasty, the most you're going to hear out of any of them is we. I better on first down, second down, third down, and fourth down. How'd you play? A good team? Played really good. We can obviously get better. Okay. That's all you heard out of them?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Did you talk to the media? No. Do you do any events? No. Do you do any this? No. Just locked in because it's hard to win. So you're going to kind of do your thing now. Certainly some things we've learned about were happening in that dynasty that could be considered a pretty big distraction, you know, a pretty big, big. Probably the biggest. Maybe biggest ever, you know, maybe. Maybe biggest ever distraction happening at the same time as playing up there. But it was like, super locked in Kansas City Chiefs, like, hey, tucking our jerseys in. We're doing this. Super locked in Philadelphia Eagles. It's like drama.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Everywhere.
Con Man
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
At every turn. Even with the fans. Fans drama. We hate. We talking to us. We hate it. We only they win a Super bowl that year. It's like, I don't know how they did it. Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe they get bored.
A.J. Hawk
Maybe you get bored. Some people like to live, like, not in chaos, but they like to have a little activity around them. You know, maybe that's just what keeps them alive, keeps them. Keeps them moving and then not get. Yeah, it might just be boring if they went about their business and there was never any noise around them.
Pat McAfee
Maybe they need distractions so that they're not fully engulfed, you know, so it's like, yeah, we need some other stuff to kind of keep us fresh so we can continue to kind of do our thing here. Sunday play games. We win. Yes, we did. How's it going? Let's ask the team.
Con Man
Oh, boy.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we won, I guess.
A.J. Hawk
But, boy, imagine Sirianni after a game, like, he wins the game. He's like, for like two seconds, like, yes. And then their. Their PR guy comes in and lets him know what's, like, what the headlines are, what they're talking about, what players may have just said at their locker five minutes ago.
Pat McAfee
When did he say that? When did he say that? He said it while he's walking off the field to a fan camera. That thing's out right now already. Can I. I get five minutes here.
A.J. Hawk
Of just happiness after the win, possibly.
Pat McAfee
Goes out to his press conference. I'm tired of talking about this. They don't all want to kill each other. I know what he said. I know we just won, but geez Louise, we're trying to get the next week. This is a long season. We just want a Super Bowl. It just never ends, it feels like. So congratulations, the Eagles still being able to do it. And A.J. brown, whatever your future is, can't wait to watch you play football. Now, you boys take it for about a minute, and I got something special that's about to pop in you front of. Of These pine trees. Oh, okay.
A.J. Hawk
Hey, Foxy. I don't know if we have it. We got a great slate of college games I believe this weekend that are going to pop up here. Oh, yes. Look at you guys. Always on the mark. Here we go. Tone, when you look at this. Sorry about that. Quick mute we just had. I actually hit that button. We got a good surprise coming for us, boys. I just checked the back wall. Can't wait. But Tom, when you see these games, which one's most intriguing to you?
Tone
Like, we're at the part of the season where like we did this last week and I was like, oh, all these games are playoff games games. And we're here again like Oklahoma and Mizzou. If you're Oklahoma, you cannot lose to Mizzou or you will definitely drop out. After that huge win to Bama last week, Oregon and sc. If Oregon loses, I would not be shocked if they drop out and SEC or sorry, SC kind of moves up into that spot. SMU is playing for a chance to get into the ACC title game as well as Louisville. But SMU has the better chance. Obviously. You have Montana State and Montana, that's number two versus number three game in fcs. Pitt and Georgia Tech is basically a playoff game to get to the ACC championship. And then if BYU keeps winning, they will be in the Big 12 championship, most likely against Texas Tech. Cincinnati still has a chance, though. So like, just like last week, all these games that we have up here are. Have serious, serious playoff implications.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah, we got great slate coming on. And Pat, no real way to intro. This guy looks amazing. But Pat, what do you got going.
Pat McAfee
On over at Eugene, Oregon? Steve's here.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Stanford Steve
A lot of years.
Con Man
A lot of the years.
Stanford Steve
Years you couldn't. Couldn't wear this. They're rivals. Pack 12.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Stanford Steve
Now they're in the Big Ten and now they're. It could be my Big Ten team.
Pat McAfee
A little different class, too. I don't want to, you know, I don't want to start burying too much because I love Andrew. Look, I appreciate him and obviously I appreciate the Stanford and Stanford. Steve, you guys kind of asked Oregon. Very, very good.
Ty
Correct.
Pat McAfee
Obviously this place is spectacular. You've talked about this being an incredible home environment. Yeah, I haven't had a chance to experience. I was going to stay for the Indiana, Oregon. Then I picked up Indiana in the way that I do, I go, you know, probably shouldn't just utilize the sideline passes here this time and I get out of here. You love this place as a home field Advantage. What do you think about tomorrow in usc?
Stanford Steve
I think it's a super matchup because we got to see what Oregon's past defense brings to the table. Pat, they. They've. They've only played teams in the hundreds in pass offense the last month, and the last time we saw them here, Indiana threw the ball effectively against them. Now they had Mendoza, and this pass offense for SC is their strength. So to me, it's all about how Oregon. Oregon can defend the pass. Now, I will say with usc, when you mentioned Stanford, when Stanford had success against Oregon teams, they matched them up front. Indiana matched them up front. Everybody talks about the skilled guys with Oregon, but you got to beat them on the line of scrimmage on both sides. And does SC have that? This is their best chance since Lincoln Riley took over the job at usc.
Pat McAfee
That's a really cool jacket.
Bo Nix
Thank you.
Pat McAfee
That is a really cool jacket.
Stanford Steve
Kenny and the boys in the equipment.
Pat McAfee
Room, do you see that? I don't.
A.J. Hawk
How do they do the swoosh?
Ty
Is that the Grateful Duck?
Stanford Steve
Oh, it is the Grateful Duck.
Pat McAfee
He looks utter side.
A.J. Hawk
Utter side.
Stanford Steve
Utter one, yeah. The other the side.
Pat McAfee
You have another sleeve. That's the utter sleeve. Not to be confused with the utter sleeve.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You talk about Oregon's physicality. I think Dan Language planning loves that. We talked about him last hour and he said, I want my team to be known to be relentless and can't wait to watch that. Obviously, last time we were here, not good for them. No, not good.
Stanford Steve
Crowd was not even a factor.
Pat McAfee
But I mean, on that note.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Crowd tomorrow morning, game day.
Stanford Steve
Oh, they're ready.
Pat McAfee
Crazy.
Stanford Steve
They read. They love us. They love us. It's a different, different breed here. The way they could do staying out Friday night coinciding with. With being awake for our show, then go take a quick naparoo and then come back for the game and be ready to go.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I love that we're doing it. And every time I watched an Oregon show game day, I felt envious of the people that were there because how special it was. Every time I've been part of an Oregon game day, it's been a spectacular vibe. Just, you're 6am out there and the place is. I mean, it is wide awake. And it's special. It's a special.
Stanford Steve
And it's so much better now.
Pat McAfee
When we.
Stanford Steve
We first started coming here, we did this right out here or. No, over there on the other side of the. The other end zone. But that was the best. That was the. That asked a lot for the students to come over. Now we're right in the middle of campus. They'll be ready to rock.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I cannot wait to see them. This place is special. Tone has a question for you. Back in the Thunderdome, Steve.
Tone
I do. Steve, I agree with you everything about that game. Oregon obviously being the number one pass defense, but they haven't really played anyone yet. But I wanted to take you down to Oklahoma and Mizzou. Obviously, Oklahoma gets the big win last week even though they're outgained by 200 yards. They only went for 200 yards. Their offense has not looked good at all. Is there any chance Mizzou can get them though without Pribula? Because I know the freshman hasn't been great and Oklahoma's defense is going to throw a ton if it's the freshman going. But can Mizzou, do they have a chance if Pribula goes, or do you think they have a chance either way.
Stanford Steve
I think they need Prula with what that brings to the table.
Pat McAfee
Table. You two just pronounce that differently. So figure it out.
Stanford Steve
He's right for Bula. He's definitely right.
Pat McAfee
Okay, well, Tony said Prabhua.
Ty
No, I said Bo. Pribula.
Tone
I said Pribula.
Pat McAfee
Okay, yeah, you got it. Whatever the case, let's throw some respect.
Stanford Steve
They need him. The issue is an ankle and going against that offense. You're going to need to go 100 miles an hour and can he sustain that? The issue I have with Missouri is when they have played the upper echelon team teams in college football in the sec, they haven't fared great. Where we got here, Ahmad, Ahmad was 52 yards, 52 against Alabama and then nothing against the other top 10 defense they faced. So it's an uphill battle. I, I, I mean Oklahoma's defense, what they did to Ty Simpson last week, 240 yards in the first half held him to 80. They get the pick in the end zone. They get the pick six. Just an opportune deal. But those are two monster wins for Oklahoma. Actually, should. They should have been a seven. They should have been at Oregon.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
Stanford Steve
No, no offense.
Pat McAfee
Before you start diving into that, AJ Actually has a question for you.
A.J. Hawk
Yes, Stanford, Steve, slash Oregon. Steve, I'm not sure how to address you right now, but what do you think of this? This, you know, when you look at the board here for the college football playoffs, what do you disagree with? Do you have any big issues with what's going on here?
Stanford Steve
Yeah, my issue is 7 to 10. I would have Oklahoma, where at 7, Oregon below Alabama, I would have Alabama at 8 and then Oregon, Notre Dame, 9, 10, whatever way you want to do that. When you look at Alabama's resume, four top 25 wins. Oregon, you got it. Oregon, Oregon, Minnesota and Iowa are the only teams over.500 in FBS that they've beaten.
Pat McAfee
That Iowa team's a good, good football.
Stanford Steve
They are. Hell, they are good. But I just look at the resumes and to me it's just showing. The eye test is weighing more with all those coaches in the room. But also Alabama's getting penalized for that bad loss of Florida State. I didn't think it was a bad loss then, but the way Florida State season is playing played out with losing all these games now and not looking like an upper tier team, they're getting penalized for that loss.
Pat McAfee
Do you think this is going to be consistent with how they view the rankings going forward? Or. Or is it like every week we should expect something different, like, oh, it was a big win, this was a bad loss. This is this. Do they kind of just, you know it a lot better than us? It should. We just expect multiple different reasons on why they picked what each week. Well, well, you look at it like committee different.
Stanford Steve
Yeah, you look at it. I think every week it changes because the rankings are going to change. So like last week, Iowa was a top 25 win. Now they're not because they lost to SC and now they're out of the top 25. So the resumes are going to change and that's what everybody wants to see with Miami and Notre Dame because they don't have a lot of data points to gain. But will that head to head end up being the big kicker at the end when the resumes are finalized?
Pat McAfee
Miami, Notre Dame, what are your thoughts? Yeah, they play.
Stanford Steve
Yeah, I just, I thought Notre Dame got rewarded big time for blowing out Pit. I don't know how good Pitt is. You know, when you talk, they do suck.
Pat McAfee
You're not an art doozy.
Stanford Steve
I'm just saying they got a lot to prove. Look at the schedule.
Pat McAfee
Tyler Palko gave them a speech before last week. Yeah. Do you know that?
Stanford Steve
Did you see the handshake after the game? Yeah, that looked a little dicey.
Pat McAfee
What is that? I don't know.
Stanford Steve
Freeman seemed like he didn't want to hear hear any of that.
Pat McAfee
Is it the hundred to nothing you think is that?
Stanford Steve
Man, I thought that maybe, maybe trying, like Des said, trying to flip it over to Notre Dame side. Like, whoa, we're just coming in here playing football.
Pat McAfee
So Marcus Freeman said that. Thanks, Nardu. 110 to 3. Why don't we even just. What are we even doing here as a football coach? But you're saying Notre Dame gets rewarded seemingly for this pit?
Stanford Steve
We don't know. I don't know about pit yet. Pitt goes to Georgia Tech and then they host Miami. We're going to know a lot more about. I mean, they were sneaking in the rankings and now they're not. They got the freshman quarterback. They obviously didn't play well last week. When you get that stage and you get that opportunity against a team like Notre Dame, you got to play well. They didn't play well. I expect them to bounce back, back tomorrow. I'm not sure if they're going to win the game against Georgia Tech, but to me, Notre Dame got a lot of credit for beating that pit team. They were impressive, no doubt, but to jump all the way up or jump the spots that they did and drop Bama behind them, I thought that was a lot.
Pat McAfee
So Tone immediately. I think after maybe week three or week four of the college football season, Tone immediately goes, well, this reminds us, if Notre Dame wins every game by 30 going forward, are they going to get in the playoff? I said, no way. Just because I was a prisoner of the moment, I'm like, can't happen. Now we know about Texas A and M. Obviously, Texas A and M. Vastly different view on them now versus maybe at the time. But that is kind of what they've done. They've become a dominant football team in the eye test. If we're going strictly by eye test. Jeremiah Love. And they got Price as well. Jeremiah loved it. After us talking to him. I love this.
Stanford Steve
All right.
Pat McAfee
I absolutely love this.
Stanford Steve
I got an idea. If we want to throw a little money on him for the Heisman Truck trophy, okay, he's gonna run for 800 yards against Syracuse and Stanford. Like, he's gonna do whatever he wants. Okay. Now, he doesn't have conference championship Saturday to extend his, you know, prowess as far as a Heisman Trophy winner, but everyone's saying that's going to be Mendoza insane. The winner of the Big Ten title game is going to win the Heisman, and I don't agree with that. I think that's going to be a defensive game. I don't know how impressive the quarterback play is going to be in that game. So if I get love in these two monster showcases he already showcased last week, I. I believe he deserves the high.
Pat McAfee
What about Marcel Reeves?
Stanford Steve
He's still got some work to Do. I'm saying Jeremiah's got to get way ahead. He's got a chance. Now.
Ty
Look at the.
Stanford Steve
Are you.
Pat McAfee
Are you ndspn?
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Because we got secn. Are you. Are you ndspn?
Stanford Steve
I'm trying to make a case. You guys were talking about how great you felt about. About the Texans. I got a little mojo going with this thing.
Pat McAfee
You felt good about Texans, too, didn't you?
Stanford Steve
It was stinky, dude.
Pat McAfee
I woke up in the morning. I don't know if you heard.
Stanford Steve
Oh, yeah, I heard.
Pat McAfee
Dude, never. Indiana beating Oregon the most my body has ever felt. Like, if. If you listen to me make that pick, I literally say congratulations to Indiana. They went as if I was a fortune teller. And I knew what was gonna happen. That's how I felt in that game. Yeah. Yesterday, same thing with the Houston Texans. And I. I wish I would get it more. More like that would be really cool if that would start happening.
Stanford Steve
So we gotta wait till tomorrow morning.
Pat McAfee
I don't know. Because I thought I was gonna wake up today and I was gonna look at the board and I was just gonna get a. Yeah. Get the feeling the football gods are gonna be like, hey, Pat, actually, we have chosen you to get it right now going forward because of how much it was yesterday. That Texans team, though, is legit. It feels.
Stanford Steve
Oh, that defense is sick.
Pat McAfee
Unbelievable sickness. Stanford guy. Yeah. Good player.
Stanford Steve
Didn't play a lot of college football, but he's played more in the pros now.
Pat McAfee
He has college 29, nine starts. I think for the Houston Texans, that's more than Stanford. What was that? Covet years or. Yeah.
Stanford Steve
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Stanford was playing during COVID You guys shot.
Stanford Steve
I think we got to five games that year.
Pat McAfee
Really?
Stanford Steve
Yeah, I think so.
Con Man
Too scared.
Stanford Steve
Four and two, I think. Believe. I think they went four and two.
Ty
Good ball club.
Pat McAfee
I'm happy. Everybody was okay. By the way. A lot of athletes we heard got it and they all survived. So we're very excited. We're happy that happened.
Stanford Steve
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Those are wild times.
Stanford Steve
California shut down.
Pat McAfee
Not. They weren't the only ones, though. It was like.
Stanford Steve
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
It felt like everywhere was because. Yeah. Let's move along. Let's move along.
Stanford Steve
Where are the other boys?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Doug. Emails. Let's move along. Let's move. Connor has a question for you. Stanford. Steve.
Con Man
Yeah, Stan forgot. Steve, I'm wondering what you think about the talent on the field tomorrow. Do you. How many GMs, how many NFL scouts do you expect there? Just because it seems as though there's a lot of first round picks. I mean Makai Lemon over there for usc. I know some teams who might want a young rookie wide receiver are kind of eyeing him. And then I mean Dante Moore, he's going to be a top 10 top three quarterback probably. What do you expect as far as skill?
Stanford Steve
Well, I'm interested, Connor. It's funny you brought that up at the Indiana Oregon game. Plenty were on the field in the, in the pregame watching both quarterbacks and now we don't know what Dante is going to do with it, with the status. I mean the way it sounds is that if these quarterbacks are going to keep going, getting paid, they're going to come back to college. That might be the opportunity for him if knowing that everybody wants a quarterback in the first round for him to go. So I'm interested to see what scouts are back to show that because then they're in on Dante Moore. So that, that, that is interesting. But the wide receiver core for SC is awesome. Makai Lemon is an absolute stud. I know Ty saw Kirk Ference's comments about him talking about a player maybe he hasn't seen in 20 years. I mean he team was dominant last week in leading that comeback to a win. And then Lane's just a perfect offset guy on the other side who has a ton of height. But that, that's the deal I have to see with SC is the offensive and defensive line. The great SC teams had studs pros up there and they've come up here and beaten Oregon. Now it's been a while. They've only played here three times I think since 2011. But SC has to win up front and that's what, that's what the test is. I thought they played great, great both these teams against an Iowa team who I think is very good up front. Oregon rolled up their sleeves and ran the ball down Iowa's throat and that was the biggest shocker to me in that game. And Iowa, Iowa couldn't get to, couldn't get to fog the quarterback last week and that's what, that's what provided the comeback for sc. So the lines of scrimmage are enormous, especially for SC in this atmosphere tomorrow.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it's getting foggy up here. And Stanford Steve's bringing the heat up, obviously. We appreciate that. Excited to see the scouts and the NFL talent that are on the field tomorrow. The weekend slate features one in Montana that I thought we were going to head to the highest these two have ever been ranked while facing each other 124th time. They'll be playing Montana State takes on Montana. Not in Bozeman, in Missoula.
Stanford Steve
Yes.
Pat McAfee
And we could have been there.
Stanford Steve
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Obviously we don't make the decision. Looks like. Not gonna say who makes decision.
Ty
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Look at that. I'll get the free jacket.
Stanford Steve
I'm over 11.
Pat McAfee
On guessing.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
On where we're headed.
Ty
Yeah.
Stanford Steve
So you don't want any of me.
Pat McAfee
At some point you should have got one.
A.J. Hawk
Right.
Stanford Steve
I'm going back. I'm like, wow, that's wrong.
Pat McAfee
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
So just. Just know that we all feel the same way though. No, no, we do not.
Stanford Steve
Backdrop there in Missoula would have been incredible.
Pat McAfee
What do you think about that?
Stanford Steve
Montana State's a favorite in Missoula. That was pretty eye open. I caught a little Montana State last week against UC Davis. Good ball club.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. What style of play does Montana State have?
Stanford Steve
A little wide open. Quarterback mobile. A lot of ride to side RPO game.
Pat McAfee
What about Montana?
Stanford Steve
Montana, Big, bigger, physical.
Pat McAfee
Oh, it's gonna be cool. We know that last time we were.
Stanford Steve
Those guys don't like wearing sleeves.
Pat McAfee
No. Yeah. It's because they gotta showcase that they're tough. That's what they gotta do.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Stanford Steve
They could have the old AstroTurf up there.
A.J. Hawk
You don't know.
Pat McAfee
All right. Question of the week is a coach that's in Ole Miss.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Now, Theo Vaughn just told a story.
Bo Nix
Oh.
Pat McAfee
About experiencing Oxford with Lane Kiffin. Talks about his. He went to yoga with him. 6am yoga. A non negotiable for Lane Kiffin in this new life that he's living. He's in there every single day. I have happened to have received some text messages before going in there from Lane. My relationship with Lane at this point is pretty hilarious.
Stanford Steve
FaceTime only FaceTime.
Pat McAfee
It's very random. It's not like every day. This is like Apache. I would say relationship and text message. Theo Vaughn talked about him in the middle of this yoga. Six a.m. yoga. About how. How he's actually not the coach, the yoga teacher, whatever it's called the yogi. But he'll go around and motivate some of the people that are in the yoga class. And if it's a little quiet. Theo Vaughn says he's. He's dribbling a golf ball in there to add a little accent noises to the 6am yoga. Lane Kiffin seemingly loves his life at Ole Miss. They are rolling everybody thinking obviously going to the college football playoff. Who knows they're selling that place out. They're celebrating. And belt to ass is becoming their Thing. BTA is like, becoming their thing. I know, obviously, Mississippi State. The Bulldogs have the cowbells. They're getting the belts. Like, they're developing, like, a lot of traditional.
Stanford Steve
I'll take a belt against a cowbell.
Pat McAfee
Cowbell, though. Guaranteed sound.
Stanford Steve
Yeah.
Ty
Watch.
Pat McAfee
You got to really do. You got to do well with the belt, you know.
Stanford Steve
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Because you can miss that. You can't. You can squeeze it and it doesn't make a massive sound. And, you know, so that's a. That's a big deal, obviously, on getting the sound and getting everybody in unison, but, like, Lane Kiffin legitimately could become king, like statue, just like Saban almost at Alabama. Ty has a question for you about all of that.
Ty
Yes, Steve? What do you think is ultimately going to happen with this? Connor was looking at some of the Ole Miss message board before the. Before the show, and he was saying how, you know, a lot of people are speculating that LSU and. And Florida boosters are basically flying private flights over Oxford to really rile up the fan base, make them think that something maybe is happening. That's not. I think a lot of people at this point are kind of assuming, like, hey, we don't know if a contract extension was offered, so if that's the case, like, is he gone? He's going to play out this season, but he kind of knows that maybe he will leave for LSU or Florida. The longer this takes, it kind of does seem like there's. There's a good chance that he is going to leave. Where do you sit with this whole thing right now, and what do you think's ultimately going to happen?
Stanford Steve
It's a lot. I. I thought Coach Saban has done a great job of explaining how this window and the calendar is just brutal for this and guys trying to make decisions. And when you're talking about families involved in the whole deal, I tend to think that Lane sends his family ahead to Baton Rouge to get a tour and that Purple sells on people. Then you hear the idea that LSU would be in agreement that Coach O would come back and be part of Elaine's staff. That. That. That thing has seriously cooking right there.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Tone
Purple.
Pat McAfee
Who's saying any of these things? Who's saying. Any people? Yeah, I know. I know. Anyone credible? But. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. And also. Go ahead.
Stanford Steve
I thought there was. There were some. Some deals where they. That there was. There was scenes of. Of the family in Baton Rouge.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So on that note. Yep, Baton Rouge. Isn't she dating? Didn't a Member of the family dating.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
We would assume family has been to Baton Rouge.
Stanford Steve
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Right. We would assume that that is the case. Now, Gainesville, if there is trips being made that is fascinating with the family dynamic, like, maybe there has to be like, yeah, let's go check it out there type thing. Because I know the Internet was sleuthing, all that stuff, and you can track planes and I don't love that at all. It's actually a very scary situation. But I understand. Hey, we, we'll all have information on everybody about everything. I, I, I completely agree with that. But it's like, wow. I know in the history of ball, you leave Ole Miss to go to Florida or to LSU, it's like, man, you got it. 10 wins three straight seasons. Yeah, yeah. 6:00am Yoga. I think the rest of his days are pretty good, too.
A.J. Hawk
Pretty good.
Stanford Steve
And they got yoga in Baton Rouge, in Gainesville.
Bo Nix
Right.
Pat McAfee
Is he dribbling a golf ball around it at 6am Is he walking around motivating everybody at 6am that's how comfortable he is at his 6am Yoga class, let alone everything else in his life. And it's like, is the money different? I guess that's a question we should ask you. Is lsu, Florida money different?
Stanford Steve
Who's going to say? Who's going to make him not be able to say no? That's what it sounds like it's going to come down to. And now it sounds like Ole Miss is going to try and do that this weekend, even though he denied it.
Pat McAfee
Oh, did he?
Stanford Steve
On your show?
Pat McAfee
Well, he said they didn't make him have an ultimatum. I didn't know if there was like, a contract offer already, you know, that, that changes everything. Crazy situation that he's just in the middle of and every other decision kind of waits on what he does. So I think you got a lot of pressure from other agents and other coaches and other agents, Ds and other presidents and governors potentially in some states that would like an answer now because it helps them and benefits them. I wonder how much of it's, like, actually real, you know, because he said, I was not given an ultimatum. And it doesn't sound like he's thinking, I need to make an answer now. But the Ole Miss fans are like, it might not be real, but we're hearing what everybody else is saying. We want an answer now.
Stanford Steve
And like you talked about, in the midst of this. Yeah, an unbelievable season one loss, you know, still has a monster game against his rival of. Yeah, like, they've waited. That, that, that this is the cusp of the. Of the whole run. This is why you hired Land to take you to this place. And with all that going on amidst all these talks, it's.
Bo Nix
It's.
Stanford Steve
It makes for mayhem.
Pat McAfee
It does make for mayhem.
Stanford Steve
Blame the calendar.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Transfer portal. Middle college football playoff run. You would think next place would one transfer portal if Lane was going somewhere.
Stanford Steve
And also he is transfer portal king.
Pat McAfee
Tpk Ferris State guy right now run a. Ah. Names Trinidad. And now it's just win or dead. Because all he does is win. Win no matter what. And that seems like Lane Kiffin's story too. Will it remain an Ole Miss with a skyline potentially being built alongside of his success, or does he head somewhere else that certainly has other opportunities and options? I don't know. As somebody that is not the closest with Lane, but can text Lane, I'm almost like, brother, life is okay right now.
Stanford Steve
And to your point, he's.
Pat McAfee
I watched his dock. Yeah. Life being okay now, I think is a big part of it. Right? Like, he made that known. Yes, exactly, like legit.
Stanford Steve
But the idea how he's done this with the. With just violating the transfer portal. When you go back to Florida or an lsu, it's more of a homegrown deal. Like, does he really want to go back to sitting in living rooms recruiting guys? Because they're. That's how you build that thing. You get players from in your state, not necessarily Ole Miss, where he's just firing away. I mean, Charlie Weiss Jr. Talked about seeing Trinidad on films. Like call him and look at save their season.
Pat McAfee
Now, granted, you have to do that again and again. That's what I'm saying.
Stanford Steve
Does that get old or is recruiting get like. You know what I'm saying? There's two different styles to this. It seems like the recruiting thing is going away, but like, you see Coach Lanning with what he's done, we appreciate.
Pat McAfee
The hell out of you. Hey. Hey. Here's the Week 12 slate that we're about to pick.
Stanford Steve
Oh, any of these ones we like. I love the Steelers this week.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
Stanford Steve
If Tone was playing quarterback, I'd take the Steelers and the under neck.
Pat McAfee
I'll take that as a Steelers. Steelers in the under to really. It sound like you're maybe taking a shot at him. Like Herbie. No, no, no, no. Yesterday. Did you see that yesterday?
Stanford Steve
Ty, I got you, bro.
Ty
Hey, thank you. Thank you, Steve. O. Love you.
Pat McAfee
All right.
Stanford Steve
Come on.
Pat McAfee
Ty can hit bombs, dude. People forget about that. All right, Steve. We appreciate you. Ladies and gentlemen, watch out for the.
Stanford Steve
Chiefs, just say watch out for the ch.
Ty
Get out.
Tone
Get out.
Pat McAfee
Take that handshake back. Yeah.
Con Man
Did you?
Pat McAfee
Nope.
Con Man
Take it back. Take it back quick. All right.
Pat McAfee
See you, buddy. I appreciate you. What's that about? That was tough shot in the way.
Con Man
It was a great hit too, up until then.
A.J. Hawk
What's that? I like these artsy shots that you do.
Pat McAfee
I don't like just me.
A.J. Hawk
Populous going there.
Tone
I just have to ask a question.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he left his phone. Steve. Steve. We showcase the back of that. Oh, no, you need to get out of here because. What? You showcase the back of that. Oh, you see that? Come back. Okay, come back a little bit more. Face that way. Camera's over here. You can just get on. Sorry. You're back that way. Back, back that way. Back of your jacket.
Con Man
Other way, other guy.
Pat McAfee
Other way, other guy.
A.J. Hawk
What do we do?
Pat McAfee
All right. We never got it. We still never got it. He's gone.
A.J. Hawk
Is he serious?
Con Man
All right.
Pat McAfee
See you, Steve.
A.J. Hawk
Serious.
Con Man
That's classic Otter guy.
Pat McAfee
It is.
Ty
Jerry Garcia designed that thing.
Tone
Question, did he have to sprint up.
Pat McAfee
A 700 flights of steps before he got to the hitter? Ah, geez. Mike Fenn just collapsed too. After the entire performance we just saw there. Yeah, I mean, we're up here on. Yeah, I don't know, Ben. Yeah, but also he's been on the road what, 11 weeks? 12 weeks. He's home how many days? One a week? I think Stanford Steve is home like one or two days a week. He's living life like an old school professional wrestler. I respect him. I. I really respect him.
Ty
This is Kevin Clark for manscaped. Look, being a man doesn't mean skipping self care.
Pat McAfee
I do this show three times a.
Ty
Week, and every single time I do a little self care beforehand. Okay? Grooming, the hair, everything. You guys see it.
Pat McAfee
You don't wake up like this. You don't wake up like that.
A.J. Hawk
You.
Pat McAfee
You gotta do. You gotta get the stubble going. You gotta get rid of that awful mustache I had last spring. Listen, I tried.
Ty
I thought the mustache over the.
Pat McAfee
Over the stubble was a good look. Not a good look. It wasn't a good look. You have to learn that the hard way. Manscaped makes it easy to feel confident, clean, and ready for anything. Whether you're at work, hitting the gym.
Ty
Traveling for business, or heading out for the night.
Pat McAfee
The lawnmower trimmer gives you precision. The beard hedger keeps your look tight. Need that? And the grooming essentials smell incredible.
Ty
Manscaped's tools are built to perform, helping.
Pat McAfee
You stay sharp, smooth, and feeling your best every single day. Because real confidence starts with a clean cut and the right gear. Get all the manscaped products you need.
Ty
Right now at your local Target holiday PSA from dsw.
Stanford Steve
This is your reminder that shoes are a gift, literally.
Pat McAfee
So unwrap something good, like boots that inspire your next big adventure. Or cozy slippers that give you an excuse to stay in. Or sneakers that feel like pure joy. Because shoes aren't just shoes. They're exactly what you wanted. Let us surprise you so you can surprise them.
Stanford Steve
Find shoes that get you and everyone on your list at prices that get.
Dan Lanning
Your budget at DSW stores or dsw.com.
Pat McAfee
All right, let's make these picks. AJ in, in that business and in this business, you gotta do these types of things. Houston Texans cover last night. Thank God and get the outright win home. Holy hell. Look at this right now. Look at this right now.
A.J. Hawk
It's changed like nine times over the course of the last hour and a half.
Tone
That's what you dream of.
A.J. Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I'm up here in Eugene. Look at how beautiful this place.
A.J. Hawk
You're climbing those mountains.
Pat McAfee
Absolutely beautiful. I'll tell you what, you won't need to climb those mountains to get to that altitude, brother. I'm already there. I'm already there. There is a couple shops with local laws all around where I'm staying and we will certainly enjoy that and finish it before getting back to Indiana where it is not legal. Of course, we live and die by those rules because we enjoy freedom and life and we are certainly enjoying that here in Oregon. Hey, Houston Texans getting six points yesterday. Or five and a half wouldn't have mattered. They cover. Let's go to the New York Football Giants with Jameis Winston as their quarterback, traveling to Detroit to take on the Lions. Lions favored by 10. AJ who do you like? How do you like it?
A.J. Hawk
10 points seems like a bunch. Jackson Dart is out, so we got JMO playing. Give me the Lions minus 10.
Con Man
Laporta did get surgery today and he will be not out for the season for sure yet, but it's going to be tough for him to get back.
Tone
If you guys would like to know what the sportsbooks think of Jackson Dart and Jameis Winston, since the Jackson Dart News, the line has shot up to 12 and a half or 13.
Ty
Wow.
Pat McAfee
Jackson darts worth three points apparently.
Bo Nix
Yep.
Dan Lanning
And Kayvon Thibodeau and Adibo our our.
Ty
Best corner were also ruled out.
Pat McAfee
So basically nobody's coming back.
Stanford Steve
So if there was any optimism at.
Pat McAfee
All, it got Extinguished this morning. That's awesome. Congrats, Foxy.
A.J. Hawk
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And add up to all of this, the lions after a loss 130 against the spread boys. All right, I'll take the Lions as well. Well, Jets, Baltimore Ravens. We see Lamar Jackson super pumped about being on Instagram, lives with Marlon Humphrey and such. He's their favorite by 13 and a half. Taken on the jets who are going with T Mobile as quarterback just because coach Glenn wants to. AJ, who do you like? How do you like it, man?
A.J. Hawk
I like the Ravens to win, but I do not like 13 and a half. So give me the Jets.
Pat McAfee
I'll take the Ravens minus 13 and a half. Feels like it's some massive spreads this weekend. 13 and a half going into Nashville. The Seattle Seahawks. 69% of the money is on the Seattle Seahawks. I'll take The Seattle Seahawks.
A.J. Hawk
AJU, Seattle Seahawks as well.
Tone
You get them at 12 and a half.
A.J. Hawk
Bam.
Pat McAfee
Perfect. We'll take them there. New England Patriots travel to Cincinnati. I show speed, will be the ruler of the jungle. 73% of the bets are on the Patriots minus 6 con man. What are we hearing? What are we learning?
Con Man
Kaan Booty, the deep ball threat for New England. He will be back. Still up in the air about Ramandre Stevenson, but aside from that, the real question of the game is who's starting at QB for the Bengals. They haven't said if Burrow is or not. He did take first team reps yesterday. Flacco taking second team reps. So kind of still up in the air there, but feel good either way. Just because the Bengals can't block anybody and they can't stop a cold.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so it sounds like you love the Patriots. I love the Patriots as well. Well, give me the New England Patriots and Vrabel going into Cincinnati and covering six. Can we get that at five and a half maybe?
Tone
No, no, no. Six is actually.
A.J. Hawk
I got the Patriots as well here, Pat.
Pat McAfee
Okay, let's go to the Vikings, Green Bay packers, the NFC North. Are they about to get a little bit of nine on Lambo? Ty, your thoughts?
Ty
Josh Jacobs, potentially a game time decision. He basically said, hey, if it's up to me, I'm going to go. But we'll see that Flores defense against a Packers offensive line who's been kind of dog shite all year. So should be very interesting. Obviously Josh Jacobs is the key here though.
Pat McAfee
Josh Jacobs obviously don't love watching that last week. Jordan Love fresh off a big time play. Give me the Minnesota Vikings plus six in Green Bay AJ In Green Bay.
A.J. Hawk
Give me the packers at minus six.
Con Man
Are you sure, Pat?
Pat McAfee
Pittsburgh. What?
Con Man
Just checking in. Just wasn't sure if you saw any of the memes going around on the Internet or anything.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and. Nine. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Give me that. Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears. Steve loves the Steelers and the under. Give me the Pittsburgh Steelers going into Chicago. I'll go the Chicago Bears. Give me The Chicago Bears minus 200. Give me the Pittsburgh. AJ who do you like?
A.J. Hawk
I like the Steelers, Stanford. Steve seems so passionate about this.
Tone
I just want to let everyone know. Aaron Rodgers 24 and five against Chicago Bears. 64 touchdowns, 10 interceptions.
A.J. Hawk
All right.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So I'll take Aaron Rodgers in the Pittsburgh Steelers in Chicago. Indianapolis Colts at the Chiefs. Colts are getting three and a half and 58 of the bets. That's crazy. That is crazy that the Colts. Yeah. Are getting 58 of the bets against the Chiefs and getting three and a half points. I like the Colts. AJ who do you like?
A.J. Hawk
I like the Colts as well.
Pat McAfee
Oh, yes.
Tone
Dan Jones.
Ty
Good to go.
Tone
And Charvarius Ward, Right? Yeah.
A.J. Hawk
Here we go.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Don't love that he had a fibula coming off the bye week. I don't know what that even means. That's a big word. Don't like any of it with Daniel Jones. Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals. Liam Cohen favored by three heading into Arizona. They've been getting blown out because they've been starting terribly. Who do you like? How do you like it?
A.J. Hawk
I like the Jacksonville Jags. I think Lawrence has a day here. Minus two and a half. I will take it.
Pat McAfee
I'll take them at two and a half as well. Cleveland Browns playing the Las Vegas Raiders. Browns defense versus the Raiders offense. That might be over scoring in of itself. I like the Cleveland Browns getting four going into Las Vegas with Shador Sanders at the start. How about you, A.J.
A.J. Hawk
Yep. Give me the brown downs in Shador on this one.
Pat McAfee
Philadelphia Eagles favored by three and a half. Crazy. Just somehow. And then on the other side, Dallas Cowboys crazy. Everything that goes on in that place. This is the battle of controversy in the NFC East. Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Dallas Cowboys. Eagles favored by three and a half going into Jerry World. AJ who do you like?
A.J. Hawk
You know what? I like the Dallas Cowboys here. I think their defense is playing. Playing better than they were early. So I will take him here.
Pat McAfee
Me too. Falcon. Saints in the NFC South. Falcons getting two and a half going into New Orleans. Give me them. AJ Hawk. Kirk Cousins a quarterback.
Ty
Yes.
A.J. Hawk
Give me the Falcons as well.
Pat McAfee
And then Sunday Night Football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Baker Mayfield travels back to the place that maybe saved his entire career. The Los Angeles Rams. Matthew Stafford on an MVP run. Baker Mayfield might be be the MVP by the end of this thing. Rams favored by 7.67percent of the public bets on the Buccaneers getting a touchdown and an extra point. AJ who do you like?
Con Man
I like.
A.J. Hawk
I like both these teams, but I like the LA Rams here to cover this one. Six and a half. I will take.
Pat McAfee
I will take the Tampa Bay Buccaneers plus six and a half Rams to get a win on Sunday Night Football. And that is the entire Sunday slate. That is AJ and I making our pieces picks. We're not saying we're seeing it perfectly, so please do not ride blindly alongside of us. But what we do want you to do is have the greatest weekend of your life. Football is about to show up in a huge way. Tell your friends and family you love them. Holidays are right around the corner. Meaningful football is happening. And we are the luckiest people on earth that you allow us to do this for a living. We can't thank you enough. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. We're in this thing together. We're back on Overreaction Monday. Goodbye. Hi, everybody. Game day from Oregon, 9am on ESPN and X feel like we really got that one, boys.
Con Man
Oh, yeah.
A.J. Hawk
We got it. You got it.
Pat McAfee
I had to see if this was a good smoking balcony.
Con Man
Sure looks like it.
A.J. Hawk
I mean, do most stadiums have a smoking balcony?
Pat McAfee
This the President's. I don't know if the President's just smoking. You know, it's like President sweet up here. I don't if I was break. I mean, they got a full. This is definitely smokers area.
A.J. Hawk
So that's like an outdoor patio to the suite. Is that what it is?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Sweets in there. Okay. Okay. So right behind Gump here, right behind Gumpy, there is the suite. You know, so like if you.
Tone
Is that where Mike Foss was sitting?
A.J. Hawk
Yeah. The fossils in the mcfist still in there.
Pat McAfee
He's sitting back. I don't love the that. You know.
Tone
Do the windows open in the Presidential Suite?
Pat McAfee
Not these ones, no. Which make once again leads me to. Yeah. And there's. Yeah. Barcode. Just found a pack of Marlboro Sigs over here. Yep, there you have it. Just as we thought. Just as we thought. Okay. So, Gumps, why don't you come on over here. Boys, we can't thank you enough. Travel out here was crazy. I mean, it was a long time. Yeah. It was a hell of a week. AJ thank you for traveling over to Indy, brother.
A.J. Hawk
Hear the best. There's some fog in Ohio. I know. I drove by a super fog, two hour fog delay that doesn't happen.
Pat McAfee
Very foggy Indiana. Yeah, super foggy too, right, boys? Yeah. This is Travis Kelce's flannel. Since the Colts are playing the Chiefs this weekend, I figured I'd give them a little shout out after the Colts ruin their season. Yeah, it has some fur on it on the outside, but it's comfortable on the inside. He's got a good line with, I think American Eagle, I think, is who Travis is doing his stuff. This is awesome. It is very, very nice. So I just want to show a little respect. Gumpy. Great to be back in Oregon again. Yeah.
Stanford Steve
Eugene.
Pat McAfee
Beautiful. It is beautiful. It is some good shots, especially whenever you can see this stuff. You know, you couldn't see stuff for a while or now it's all kind of coming together. Let's take this. Yeah, it looks great. Foley. This. There's Foss. You see him? Him? Oh, wait. He don't cut over this. Really handling your business. I really love whenever he handles his business in this business the way he handles his business. The. I don't know how we white balance this one. I honestly, it's been. Can you fix the. Can you get the Gump one to be able to. Don't.
A.J. Hawk
Oh.
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ty
There it is. There it is.
Pat McAfee
There it is.
Dan Lanning
There it is.
Pat McAfee
There it is. Boys, you should see where we're at right now. Obviously, it's right behind us, but like the. The. Oh, yeah.
Ty
Oh, yeah. That's it. Oh, yeah, that's the one right there.
Pat McAfee
As we embark on a massive weekend here in Eugene, Oregon, the college football world will look on to see if the Ducks will scare to the College Football Playoff or if Lincoln Riley and USC, old Pac 12 rivals, will come into this green majestic land and get a huge win and send Dan Lanning and the Ducks in a downward spiral. As USC remains supreme and goes on a run or the ducks win by 30, there's a chance.

A.J. Hawk
So, like the stadium like the whole stadium or the students, I think they're.

Starts ~40:08
Starts ~108:36
Pat (on Thursday night):
“The Texans defense... number one in the entire NFL... They got dogs all over the field. Josh Allen sacked eight times, the most in his career... You get that defense with that crowd in a primetime game? That's going to be a weapon for sure.” (03:42–04:26)
AJ Hawk (Texans D):
“It looked like two Terminators coming out to kill people... If you get penetration, good luck." (09:42)
Dan Lanning (Team identity):
“We're a team that plays for each other. I hope you see love and connection... the kind of team that wants to drag you to deep water and choke you out.” (26:33)
Bo Nix (NFL experience):
“Playing as much as you can in college is only going to help a collegiate athlete... You learn from experience and see defenses over and over. It's not a bad thing." (46:52)
Pat (Direct to new-gen QBs):
“You need to stop taking hits... My happiness comes from NFL football, and you assholes... need to just—not be as alpha all the time, okay? Get your ass out of bounds, or get down.” (50:02)
On Mascots:
"There's nothing like sneaking a nutshot on a tailgating Bills fan." – Con Man (21:35)
"Toro is doing pretty good. Saw him also have a great sign... 'How about Mills Mafia?' He was on it." – Pat (20:45)
