Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Dudes getting rich. Team seeking fits the grandma and the glitz of the big money pit. Who's signing where, why they go there? This will help us win. Every team swears so. Welcome to the show. Hey, from the Thunderdome. Who's the next signing? We all want to know. Free agency, friends. Dreaming with your spending massive cash Spending
B
was falling off and
A
who is ascended. Hello, beautiful people, and welcome back to our humble abode, the Thunder Dome on day two of NFL free agency, March 10, 2026. It's a great day to be alive. We can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living. My name is Pat McAfee. The show is named after me. I talk a lot, but it's not just me. The toxic table's here. Austin Connor and Ty Schmidt, con man. Big day in R, guys, because we got a countdown and it's on.
C
Yeah, exactly. 184 days till NFL football. Last year, two of the top five teams in free agency were the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. So all that money spent yesterday, it does mean something. Okay. And we got more money to spend today and a lot of good players.
A
They say you can't win a Super bowl in March. It's like, well, actually, hold on. Seattle Seahawks certainly helped. Ty, what's your big takeaway as we look at Day 2 of free agency frenzy?
B
Yeah, I'm looking for some of these
D
teams who really didn't do anything yesterday to maybe, you know, dip a toe in today. Packers early this morning. Benjamin Saint Juice, cornerback. Oh, because they had to release the guy that they signed last year on free agents they gave a bunch of money to. So we'll see some of these teams who weren't really involved yesterday. Still a lot of good players available out there.
A
Let's go to 1/2 of the hammer done. Cowboys. AP Tone feels like there was maybe some odds movement yesterday with money being thrown around to these players.
D
Yeah.
E
Three teams within a division, their odds got a lot better. The Titans made a lot of moves yesterday. They went from plus 750 to plus 600. The Raiders went from plus 4000 to plus 2200.
D
Yes. They're still last.
A
The biggest movement of all, all time, I think.
E
And then we had a jump. We talked about it yesterday. The Carolina Panthers were in last place in the NFC South. They jumped the Falcons to go from plus 425 to plus 370. With their moves yesterday.
A
Let's go to nine year NFL vet, one of the best dressed guys on TV by far, certainly the coolest, ladies and gentlemen. Big brain, owner of everything. DB Good D. Bad D Darius J. Butler's here. D BU he talks about the Carolina Panthers and what they did with the odds. Anything surprise you yesterday? And what are your thoughts on what happens today? Day 2 of Money Bags being thrown around.
F
I'm surprised the Panthers didn't jump a little higher. And those eyes. I. I would like him as a favorite. Obviously, they won last year and I love what Young is doing. We always talk about them being a good football team. They got a lot better yesterday. Got the best pass rush on the market with Jalen Phillips. Then Devin Lloyd, who had an unbelievable year in Jacksonville. You knew they weren't going to give him the money he deserves. I love to see from Dan. Dan Morgan up there in Carolina. He's really spinning it right now.
A
Yeah, they certainly are. And obviously it's not just us here. We're incredibly lucky that a lot of the ESPN icons have taken a trip out here to beautiful Indianapolis Indiana for this free agency frenzy sell celebration. Let's head over to the free agency fun zone. Orlovsky. Boys, it's great to see you. It was nice having dinner with you last night. We appreciate your company and your aura. You guys killed it yesterday. Great to see you. Day 2 Shrigs. He just mentioned Jalen Phillips right there. He wasn't the only Eagle that disappeared yesterday. Shrek.
G
Yeah, the Philadelphia Eagles lost quite.
A
You're on. You're on. You're good.
G
Are we good? They lost quite a bit of talent yesterday in free agency. Nicole B. Dean, Jalen Phillips, obviously Reed Blankenship and then the receiver, Jahan Dotson. I got Eagles fans all over my timeline, all over my phone saying, what are we doing? What are we. Calm down. Deep breath. March and April is what we call Howe season. Howie Roseman, the best general manager in football season. Szn Remember, they have to eventually get new deals done for Cooper Dean and Quinon Mitchell and Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter. And oh, by the way, there might be some moves in their holster. So Philadelphia Eagles fans, I know it feels like a crazy, crazy offseason of departures. We with Jeff Stoutland and of course all these players. Remember last year you lost Milton Williams, you lost Josh Sweat. You still had one of the top defenses in the league. This is part of being a football team. When you're really good and you draft really well, there will be teams that come poaching and raiding and taking. Trust your general manager. It is Howe season.
A
If you win, there's enough to go around. They say before we get to you, Dano, we do have to have a memous violence. I don't like that we're doing it. The exciting whites took over football for a bit. Had no idea that two caucasoids could do that at those positions in the NFL. People would get them confused. Hey, white guy playing position you're not supposed to play. How's it going? And white guy would have to say, it's the other one guy. Now we'll never get to hear the exciting mics of the exciting whites continue because one of the whites is leaving.
D
Don.
A
Rest easy, too. The exciting whites. And we. And I personally would like thank you guys for your service to football. Broke down a lot of barriers.
F
Trailblazers.
A
One of them made the whole everything DB team.
C
He did.
E
Yeah.
C
Jackie Robinson.
G
Jackie Robinson.
A
Is that going to be the only time ever?
F
No, no. We got one in the draft.
A
Might be first round. Okay.
D
Wow.
A
Look what these exciting whites did. It's over now because $24.75 million was sent to Reed Blankenship from Nick Caio who said, I need me one of them. Congratulations on a hell of a run of silence.
C
Miss you.
A
Love you guys. I'll never forget this. Okay, Dan, let's get back to you now. What's your kind of thoughts as we hit day two of free agency frenzy here? Dan Orlovsky. And we'll never.
G
How do you follow that?
A
I don't know.
B
Maybe
A
you just turned your bike off. I think. I think you just turned your bike thrown off. I think you just. No, you just turned it off. I think. I think you clearly pushed a button to turn it off. It's on now. It's on now.
B
It's been on the whole time.
A
All right.
B
Doesn't Oregon have. That's Thinnerman. Dylan.
F
That's the. That's the potential first round.
B
So there's hope for.
C
There's hope.
A
They're saying handheld. He was 4:1.
C
What?
A
That's what they said.
F
I don't.
D
Chapters got receipts.
A
That's what they said. We were all surprised. I'll let you know.
C
Can believe it, though.
A
That's what they were saying. Sorry, Daniel. Today, though, big day for agency frenzy. More money and thoughts like that. Anything tie in from yesterday or today for you as you have to follow all that stuff?
B
I would be very much so looking forward to seeing today where Hendrickson lands. Trey Hendrickson. I don't think that pitting him to just some of the obvious teams is necessarily the right way to go. I think that there's teams that just could be lurking out there that Chicago Bears, the Buffalo Bills, the Rams, the Eagles because they obviously lose Jalen Phillips. So like where Hendrickson goes and I'm surprised that Romeo Dobbs the Packers receiver hasn't gone yet. I think Romeo Dobbs is a absolute number one wide receiver. He's not in that number one group.
G
Yeah.
B
But a guy that you can like put out by himself and go win on routes and so I would love for him to stay in Green Bay for their offense. But if you're New England, it's like, man, how do we not try to find a way to get Romeo Dobbs into this offense? Because I think pass game wise he's awesome.
A
I, I appreciate all of those thoughts and I think today is going to be active. We still think today is going to be active. Dobbs would certainly get some dubs some places and who knows what the market is for all parties that still available after the first wave of free agency goes a lot of punters getting money early.
D
That's right.
A
Get a punter. Need to get a punter. Let's go ahead and talk about the massive amount of money that was actually spent yesterday. $2.86497 billion in contracts yesterday. Top five spenders shout out to the Panthers down there. 172.5 million. And the Saints making plays. They're at 193 or 192.5 million depending upon where you read at. They have real contracts.
C
That's what they do.
A
They are now at the point of kicking can down road. Kicking can down road. Now no longer having a road to kick it down. These deals have to live where they have to live. So congrats to everybody that got paid yesterday by them. They're expecting you to be really good. And also, Chuck, you're going to have to do this. Commander's 209 million. Wow. Wow, what a day. Tennessee Titans Bergon shot a lot of money. We're going to have to spend it. Bob Sala is happy about that. And then the Las Vegas Raiders, $281 million plus yesterday in full contracts. They're certainly undergoing a brand new era. Tom Brady may be a little bit more in charge. Infernando Mendoza at the helm. Let's head into the man who broke all the news yesterday. Senior NFL Insider for ESPN Michigan. Man. And maybe a little bit more on all these deals. Adam Shefter. I like. We got a little air in there.
B
Chef.
A
Door open. Smart.
H
Yeah, it's an honor to be back in the ThunderDome for a second day on the Nightline set here in the corner room. Love being here. And yes, the room is cooler. The WI fi seems to be working better and we're going to have some action today. Pat, we've got some names still available. Wouldn't be a surprise. We saw a Romeo Dobbs deal done during the course of this show. We've got Rasheed Walker still out there. K Lavon Chasen still out there. We've got Chig A Concord, the tight end, Reek Woollen, the cornerback, Leo Chanel, Braden Smith, Juwan Jennings, Wyatt Teller. A lot of good players. The quarterbacks who we would expect movement, but not yet because neither Kyler Murray nor Geno Smith officially have been released from their teams. So they are not allowed to do anything during this time right now and they can't until they are released. Obviously, people waiting on Minnesota to see the Vikings and Kyler Murray, we'll see if, if and when that happens. And Geno Smith, we'll see what happens once the Raiders release him.
A
Okay, so Schefter, explain a little bit more about the Kyler Murray Wednesday thing. I know the new league years then, but everybody's acting as if their contracts are up right now. Why is it such a big with Kyler that he has to get released? Are they waiting to trade him still? Are they hoping somebody wants to? Like, why is this still happening?
H
He has. He has. I think it's a $16 million bonus that's due on the third or fourth or fifth day of the league year. The Cardinals are not going to allow that day to come to where they have to put more money into Kyler. So they can wait as long as they want up until that point. And they have not released him, but they will and are expected to release him before that happens. Now the new league year begins. Why is that confusing?
A
Why don't they just release him? I don't think I understand what's going on because they just screwed him basically yesterday, you know, potentially Miami. What if Miami was interested or Atlanta was interested or anything like that? This is strictly just to hold on to hope that he gets traded or
H
in the event that somebody happens to step forward. What's the difference in their minds if they release him today, tomorrow or Thursday? Like they don't know that they might not get a call from somebody. Hey, hey, we'll give you, we'll give you a 5th round pick for Kyler Murray, all right? Now is that going to happen? No. But they're holding on to him until then, and then they'll release him. And then, of course, Minnesota. We'll see again, if that happens with the Vikings.
A
Do they know that that's not going to happen over there, or are they holding out hope that somebody will get super desperate in one of these quarterback needy teams?
H
You never know how the league operates. They're not expecting it, they're not counting on it, but you never know. It's a one in a million shot, but it's not costing them anything to hold on to him for another day or two. They don't feel like they owe Kyler Murray anything. They paid him all these millions of dollars anyway. What's the difference?
A
Yeah, agreed, I guess. And they're also going to be paying him in the future, which is why teams are going to be able to only have to pay him like, a million bucks, like what Russell Wilson did in Pittsburgh.
H
They're paying him 36.8 million this year. They could hold on to him up until the deadline if they want, before they move on from him, which they will.
A
Okay, so. All right, so they're going to do that just in case. You never know what's going to take place. And also, yeah, we get the final say in this entire. Yeah, it would have been nice being that first wave, huh? Some other teams would have had a really nice setup knowing that Kyler Murray is their quarterback while they're pitching other free agents to potentially come join their team. We all assume that he's going to Minnesota.
H
Well, I think that's the logical landing spot now. We'll see what happens. You don't know what other teams could step in, but. Yeah, if I were betting today, I would bet Minnesota.
A
Okay. That's a fascinating situation. We appreciate you, Shafty. We'll continue to follow along with your Twitter account and maybe we get a glass break. Oh, maybe we get a shaft. A tweet. What a time yesterday.
D
I know.
C
So fun.
A
It was a good time. I really enjoyed you yesterday. I also enjoyed, obviously, the boys in studio. We mentioned it there at the top. There were some big spenders and $2.8 billion in. In contracts given out. The Raiders kind of go ahead and go for it. And they had a lot of money. Obviously they made more money after they move on from Max Crosby, who's now a member of the Baltimore Ravens, which is crazy to think about. Yeah, yeah. And is Lamar Jackson going to beat Dan Orlovsky?
C
I think so.
D
I think so. Yesterday was kind of the last straw.
A
Dano, have we gotten a read on what those emojis were. Have gotten a read on what that smoke meant. Is that him wanting to smoke with you? Have you got any messaging from anybody?
B
No, I haven't. I hope not. I hope. I, I want, I want no beef with Lamar or any NFL player.
A
Yeah, but maybe smoke with Lamar.
E
Yeah, that'd be cool.
A
You wouldn't mind doing that, right? It's kind of your thing.
G
Good for the socials.
B
I don't. I married. I married a girl that maybe has that as a little bit in her past, but I, I don't necessarily.
C
Excuse me, my toe in the water out.
A
Your wife, she certainly used cannabis.
B
Her mom's a parrot head. Her mom is a jimmy.
A
She's a hip. Oh. So she want fins to the left, fins to the right. I understand what's going on. We're having a good time. I think Lamar Jackson is sick of your shit.
D
I think so.
A
I don't know. I don't have a good read on it. I don't know what the emojis are. And once again, Lamar Jackson, one of the greatest emoji users in the history of the app.
E
That's right.
A
Okay. We all know that. We all have a lot of those. So him kind of toying with you right now. Fantastic news. We appreciate you, Dan. Oh, Kyler Murray, though, with the Vikings. Dan feels like a natural fit. Feels like the only fit. You think they're just waiting for him. Is that. Is that kind of what their. Is that what their mode is?
D
Yeah.
B
I also have learned that when she kind of says something, he's not just saying it. Like he's always leaving tea leaves and breadcrumbs around. So I don't necessarily think it's a lock. Natural fit, though. I would say you this. In Minnesota's offense, they just want the quarterback to play point guard and allow the offense the play caller. Kevin OConnell to star. I think that Kyler is such a dynamic player and dynamic athlete that, that he naturally wants to be the star. And so trying to fit that, you know, trying to fit that kind of style of play into that offense is going to be. It's going to take some time. I do think that Kyler is really good in the play action game, the movement game. He obviously has plays like this that he could just make something out of nothing. So that's a plus. But in this offense that originated years ago with Mike Shanahan and then it went Gary Kubiak and then Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVeigh like they've. It's always been an offense that has elevated quarterbacks specifically that maybe aren't the most physically gifted guys as far as like athlete, run around, make a play, big arm guy. It's always elevated those guys a lot like a Sam Darnold. And Kyler hasn't necessarily needed that style of offense. So I think Kyler, like it'll take some time for him to have the discipline to play in that offense.
A
Yeah. The mental acceptance, if you will. Maybe getting cut from a team though while they're holding you up is a moment that he can maybe have that process of just saying, hey, let me buy into what this guy's pitching and I can kind of cook. Do you think they started doing that type of offense because there was a drop off in quarterback play and they're like, hey, if we have the system and we just get a guy that can throw a football, which we know every year there's going to be a guy that can throw a football, we should be able to have success consistently. Like you. While you talk about, I hear you thinking to yourself, I wish I was in one of these offenses.
D
I was.
A
Oh, and 16, that offense.
B
My, my start.
H
Yeah.
B
Houston. I was in Houston, but Shabby started every game when I was there.
A
Oh, is that the pick six machine?
B
Yeah, that was after I left Houston.
C
But yeah, he threw like eight straight games to the pick six.
B
He was in his like 20.
D
Remarkable.
A
He was so good. I mean he was unbelievable. Let's not talk about. I mean it's hard to throw that many as well. I did that. Yeah, he's a stud. I'm not saying he. So you're down there with Sha. Got it. So you've been in that offense. You loved it. That was where you're supposed to be. You think, think.
B
Yeah, I mean that's where like I feel.
A
Oh, that's why he hates on all these. If Mac Jones was in, Brock Purdy, you remember, this is the whole Sam Darnold guy who can't really. That's why. Because he, he thinks to himself, man, could you imagine George Kittle right there? This is a right mvp.
D
Yeah, he may have.
A
Oh my God.
G
Is that.
A
Is that it? Dano, is that you? That offense?
B
No, I just think the offense is awesome for quarterbacks.
A
Okay. Okay. Sure. You would be great in there too though, right? You would be.
B
I wouldn't have been nearly as good as the guys that are doing it.
A
Hell yeah. Hey, I like. Very humble.
I
Very humble.
C
I don't believe him.
E
Did you see him taking credit for.
A
You were physically talented, brother. We watched you do the quarterback carousel down at the Pro Bowl. Showed up and dominated. It was nice to see that Dano. Oh, now we're losing it. You're doing something with that mic. You need to stop it. Okay. Speaking of Kyler Murray's going to the Vikings. Maybe, says Dano, might not be absolutely perfect fit, but they'll have to wait, I guess, for the Cardinals to decide when they can let them go. There's also plenty of other free agents that could sign today that we'd say, wow, didn't know that person was available, or wow, didn't know they were going for that much. Let's talk about not knowing somebody was going for that much. 30 million a year to a center is quite a message from a franchise. The Las Vegas Raiders sent a huge one in signing Linderbaum, and they weren't done there. They continued to spend. What are your thoughts on what the Raiders did, D, Bud? And if you're Fernando Mendoza and you're the fan of the Raiders, maybe, huh? It's hard not to just buy in and be like, maybe we do have the pieces. Already got Brock, already got Ashton. I assume there's a lot of dogs on defense that we don't talk about because we only can talk about Max Crosby because how damn good Max Crosby is. Are the Raiders about to have a little bit of a oh, we're an actual football team time in their life, you think, yeah.
F
You look at this graphic and all up there, all the way from left to right, it's a bunch of pros, good pros, not only on the field, but also the field in the locker room. These are guys that are respected and been respected by their teammates. And you talk about Lindenbaum, so you're shoring up the interior of that pocket for who we assume to be Fernando Mendoza. At you know, whichever inevitable point he jumps up to the top of the Dan O's board, I think he'll be the number one pick in the draft to go to Vegas. So you show up that interior of the offensive line, you help out your running game. Obviously quiddy pay first round pick here didn't quite pan out how we thought he would, but definitely a lot. Still a high ceiling from him. Quay Walker and Dean, you sure up the linebacker core right there. Terry Johnson, a rod was on here. When we talked to him, he mentioned him being one of the best football players in the league and he allows you to play a little more nickel than a lot of teams do. So all these signings have been great. Right now you got to win in March, then you obviously have to win in the draft if you want to be competitive once the season comes.
A
I love that they're spending. They have to spend now with the way our market is, with the way the NFL operates. There is a floor and there is a top and they had a shit ton that they had to spend, but it feels like they're making the right decisions. And it's not just the cap that they're able to move. They're set up pretty well for the draft. What is this with the Raiders? The Raiders had a bunch of money for free agency, seemingly made good moves, even paid somebody a brand new 30 million that nobody expected for a center position. I mean, I think it was like 12 million more than the next closest interior offensive lineman. So I mean, that's a huge, huge jump for whenever you talk about a position getting paid. But if you need it and it's going to make you win and we're for it. I think that's the difference between us and people that analyze all the salaries and numbers and everything. We're a big like, hey, if it's going to win you a game, what's the purpose? Yeah, none of the money matters.
F
Protections.
A
If you're rookie quarterback, like, oh, everything. Protection, set like 30 million. They overpaid for him. It's like we don't know that. We have no idea if they overpaid for it or not. If he ends up being the glue that pulls together an offensive line that can protect Fernando Mendoza and block for Astin Genti, it's like all of a sudden you feel like you got the offense figured out. Then on defensive side, you're gonna have to make some plays. Well, bring in some vets over there on that side that have made plays as well. And then you think about free agency being good to them. It's not just that they got draft season coming in. They got some real stuff. Tone.
E
Yeah, they have 11 draft picks in this upcoming draft. Two in the first round thanks to the Max Crosby trade, and then two in the first round next season. So that's four first round picks in the next two years. So you can either take four really good players or package those to move over.
A
Oh, we're bundling.
E
You could bundle. I mean, what, what happened a few years ago, the Texans bundled.
D
They, they did the thing.
E
They get CJ Stroud and Will Anderson. It, it turned that entire. Remember, remember how shitty the Texans were before that?
A
They're a trash House.
F
Yeah.
A
I mean, we've fold with ass and shite.
E
We've seen it happen a lot recently. I mean, you get Burrow and the Bengals turn around, you get the Patriot. What happened with the Patriots, like, it's. The Raiders fans should feel really good and optimistic right now.
A
I feel really good for him because Las Vegas, obviously, good home for football, good home for the NFL. Feels like their stadium is sweet. We obviously like making trips out there. And if their team's good first time, long time, that'd be great for them. Will suck for Max Crosby, no doubt.
D
Yeah.
A
Oh, but he'll say he contributed because obviously the picks and the money, he was able to get it. Was he a part of it? But it's like, it does feel like we're entering a new era of this. Not that they haven't been used that before, but they are entering a new era that looks like it's going to have a good chance in this entire thing.
C
Well, and the pieces, like the quarterbacks Tony mentioned with Drake May and Joe Burrow, like. Like, even those teams missed pieces. The Patriots o line needed time. The Bengals O line still needs time. But you mentioned Linderbaum, their left tackle, Colton Miller, he's been kind of a stalwart staple there for a little bit. One of those guys, kind of the offensive Max Crosby, if you will. He's just been solid. Nobody really, you know, talks about. I've never really seen him in a big moment. And then you think about, like a wide receiver one. Sure, they don't have a wide receiver one, but Brock Bowers, I mean, he's already caught 100 balls damn near in a season, so that'd be unbelievable. I'm not so sure. Tom Brady hired Pete Carroll on purpose to tank the team. I'm damn near thinking now, now, at this moment in time, Brady brought in Pete Carroll, like, hey, this guy's going to run our franchise into the ground, and then we're going to get the first pick.
A
Hey, that's closed Sicilian there. That's Queen's Gambit. Boom, boom, boom. Tom Brady might do that. Especially with those glasses. We're seeing them in glasses a lot.
C
Tinted. Not too tinted, though.
A
Yeah, like, cool.
D
Yeah.
A
A lot of this one right here.
C
Like Bradley Cooper and War Dogs.
A
Yeah. And I would like to let him know. Hey, Tom. Keep doing it, dude.
D
Look good, Tommy.
A
I saw him snapping cards. Break.
D
Oh, yeah.
A
Breaking cars. It was cool at the UFC thing. It's like, live your life, Tom. Live your life. Tom's playing flag football in America. Now?
E
Yes.
I
What?
C
Bet he's pumped.
E
Yeah. Smart.
A
He's playing. He's playing flag football in America. And I'll tell you what, he's taking it serious.
C
He better be.
A
What is your problem?
D
I read the same. I read the same thing. I just. I hadn't visualized, you know, him taking a couple drop backs until right then
A
I was like, wow. Well, that's Tommy. He's owning an NFL team, so obviously he's dialed in. Let's head over to free agency Fund zone shrags. The Raiders want the town. They want Ham. Did we expect that yesterday? What team surprised you most?
G
We did. The Raiders. They spent a lot of money. And I, you know, I. I get a little prickly when people say, well, they overpaid for. For the center, Linderbaum, and it's like, no, that's the tax you have to play pay when you're a crappy team. I call it the crappy team tax. And for years, the Jacksonville Jaguars had to overpay to bring guys in. And guess what?
A
What?
G
Linderbaum wasn't leaving Baltimore for a million dollars more. There's a guy from Salon, Iowa, Ty. Am I saying that right? Solon, Iowa, who, you know, lived on a farm in Iowa and then comes to Baltimore. He's not going to Sin City for the same amount of money to play for the decrepit Raiders. No, you have to pay more. And that's what they did. And spy tech had the assets and he does it. I also want to clarify. It's Linder Baum, not my people. Linder Baum.
C
Is that right?
G
Are we okay with that?
D
That is correct.
A
A lot of Linder bombs.
G
That said, this is a bunch of pros. DBut said it, said it best. You pay because you have to bring in actual professionals. And last year they were a patchwork team with guys like Devin White and Jamal Adams and Eric Stokes. And these are guys who were veterans, but guys who were kind of castaways from other teams. Now, these are players that other teams wanted and they are choosing to go to Vegas. I find it fascinating that they did spend that much money. As Adam Schefter said yesterday, the most money ever paid to an interior offensive lineman. It's to a guy that the Baltimore Ravens did not pick up his fifth year option less than a year ago. But they value what that is and in Rick Denison's offensive line room. And when you talk about Clay, Clint Kubiak and what they do with the running game, center is an important piece.
A
Agreed.
G
Essentially. It's Crosby for Lindenbaum and a bunch of different guaranteed money that goes both ways. And we'll say we'll see where chips fall, but they're going to get Fernando Mendoza an all world center. And they did. And yes, they paid a lot, but don't tell me they overpaid. That's the tax when you're a crummy team.
A
Fernando Mendoza. Good call. Go ahead, Dan. Fernando, tell me how perfect Fernando Mendoza is for the Las Vegas Raiders and why you love him as the number one overall pick. And while you are watching the entirety of the college football season, not just the first four games, listen, I got through four games. I watched seven to nine NFL games on Monday morning before I get on get up because that is what is tasked to me. Going through the draft process, been able to see eight of Fernando. But what you have seen of Fernando thus far, I think you've got to the Big Ten championship game now.
B
The Big Ten title game. Yeah.
A
I know in his college football games run a little slower than these NFL games you're able to watch overnight. But I, I understand what you're saying. I, I completely agree with that. But with what Fernando is as a player. From what you've learned thus far, what do you like about what Las Vegas has done with the Raiders and why do you think there is a chance for immediate success maybe over there? Dano, for a rookie quarterback?
C
Yeah.
B
So first I want to touch on the Raiders element and mainly Linderbaum and Jalen Naylor. Okay. One, Linderbaum, in this style of offense, there's a couple things you have to be as a center with Clint Kubiak's run game offense. One, you have to be unbelievably athletic in space. That's. That's a requirement. You can't just be like this big, almost stiff, but still good, but stiff offensive lineman space. Okay. You got to be able to run and pull. Think of like Chris Myers back in the day for the Houston Texans. Almost like a Kelsey. Not that extreme, but like that. Okay. Two, you got to be incredibly smart. The, the center is a guy that so often is telling the offensive line like, hey, no, we're not going to that linebacker. We're going to that linebacker because that safety dropped down weak side. We're changing our landmarks. You don't want to tax Fernando Mendoza or any rookie quarterback with that. You want him to be able to. We call him Siri C I R. I call it run it. Don't think we're just calling this play run the Play. Okay. You got to have a center to do that. Naylor is a big deal in relation to Mendoza because Naylor is a speedster guy that can go down the field, make big plays with his speed. Okay. The thing that I would probably say that Mendoza throws the best outside of the back shoulder fade is the deep ball. You go to the Big Ten title game, it's the big post down the middle of the field that kind of swings. The game starts, second half. And the goalball, I do think he throws those really well. So. So I like that. In specific to Fernando through the Big Ten title game, he's phenomenally tough. I think that his ability to not allow what's happening in the game to impact what he's going to do on the next play is a great quality. It's a great quality I've talked about. He's very good operating the rpo. He's outstanding throwing the back shoulder fade. I think he's very physically tough and mentally tough. And then he's been clutch. In all the games that I've watched late in games, he has had to make a throw. Not all the games. Most of the games, he's had to make a throw that was meaningful and he's made it. And so I would still tell you.
D
Here we go.
G
That was good, though.
E
You don't have to do that here.
B
I would still tell you that on tape. I think Ty Simpson's tape is more impressive.
A
Have you watched the entire season yet?
B
No.
A
Okay, enough. Period. Just watch the football season talk.
B
You asked me the question.
A
I'm answering the question. He did say.
C
He did say yesterday, Ty Simpson against the Wisconsin backups was dynamite.
B
Yo, Ty Simpson's Wisconsin tape is great. I'll say this. I'm being dead serious. If Ty Simpson was six four, the jets would sprint to the podium at number two.
A
Oh, I wish. Six four. I agree. If he was six, I'd be cool. How tall is Fernando? Six.
C
Five.
D
If I was three or six, I'd be starting opening day for the Yankees.
A
That'd be so cool.
C
Yeah.
A
No, you wouldn't imagine what I would have done to curse so hust. Could you imagine what I would have done to Kershaw if I was six' Six? Oh, you put three inches on me. 45 pounds, maybe. Judgy who?
D
Oh, yeah, exactly.
A
What we're saying is, dad, you wasted your height. Yeah. Oh.
F
Oh.
A
You had a great career. You had a great career. 11 years.
D
11 years.
A
12. 12 years. 12 years of the career. But on that note, can you please not talk about the college quarterback thing until you watch all the games.
B
You literally just asked me about it.
A
No, you're the one that said, okay, is it time for me to say this? That's what you said.
E
True.
A
That is what you said.
B
No, you said, talk to me about Fernando Menthosa.
G
Simpson tape is better though.
B
Simpson's tape is phenomenal. I'm only through about, I think Thanksgiving.
A
Shregs, enough. Stop.
F
Stop doing that.
I
Shre.
B
I do think that Mendoza will be the first pick because I'm not a big old dummy and everyone is saying
A
Peter Shrag. All right, let's get out of the fun.
B
Hey, Tom.
A
Tone, don't.
B
Tone.
A
You didn't need to do that. I didn't need to do that. Sorry. All right. Thank you. From the fun zone.
F
How are you?
E
Sorry, Dan, I didn't mean to.
C
It's a fun, fiery zone today.
A
It is. There's a little sauce down there.
E
I'm too out of shape for you
A
to be coming at me right now, ladies and gentlemen. Yeah, he's in much better. I mean, he put on a 14 year old kid who's never seen a basketball and a hoop display earlier that I've never seen in a full certain tie. I mean, big pot. I mean full, dripping in sweat. Dan Orlovsky. Oh, basketball. Oh, another one. Oh, baseball. I mean, it was unbelievable watching him. Dan, we love you. You too, Shregs. We also love the man that's joining us right now. He's heading into his 14th season. He'll be a first ballot hall of Famer, we think.
D
Who knows?
A
Should be a first ballot hall of Famer. And that should mean something because that means that you have separated yourself from your class, from the sport and from everybody as being one of the pillars of our league. A person that needs to be remembered whenever the story of the league is told. This guy is certainly that. Just an Ohio football folk who's gone on to do great things with incredible work ethic and now the whole world knows him as Taylor's football man. Ladies and gentlemen, Travis Kelsey. Let's go. How are you, dude?
J
Making another run at it, baby.
A
Okay. Making another run at it.
J
And the Chiefs are making moves, Pat.
A
Yes, you are. Yes, you are.
J
They're making moves. We got Brett Veets and Andy Reid going and getting the super bowl mvp.
A
You kidding me? Kenneth Walker is now a the Kansas City Chiefs. Which is weird because every good player seemingly always ends up at the Kansas City Chiefs. Would have never expected the Super Bowl MVP to be a Kansas City Chief. But let's talk about your energy right now. Hey, first of all, love to see how happy you are, dude. Love to see how not only when, when we talk to you, but new heights and everything else. You're clearly enjoying the hell out of your life. We are happy for you. Tell me about this energy you have for coming back to football, though. When did you, did you ever think about stopping this year? Feels like it wasn't a real convo this year, maybe as opposed to some years past.
J
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. It was, it was pretty short and brief and the Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it. I think you always need to take a step back. You always need to take a step back, breathe, let the emotions of the season settle down and see where the body is and things like that. But, man, I'm still, I'm still in love with this game. I still love going to, going to work, putting on the pads, grinding and out and just, you know, playing the game and, and I think my best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet and running this thing back with Pat Mahomes and Coach Reed and got my guy, Eric Bienami, Coach Biennami back. There's, there's a lot of pieces in Kansas City that I just, I absolutely love and I can't wait to get back in the building with him.
A
I'm pumped to hear that. As a football fan, the entire football world is excited to watch you continue to play football in this historic career that you're having. I think whenever you're on new heights talking about b enemy with your brother, you said, I can't wait to see him back in the building. And I don't know if you saw our response immediately afterwards, but it was like, well, what's he doing? Is he stalking the building? Why he. Yeah, yeah.
J
The thing is, once I started dating Taylor, started understanding what Easter eggs were, you started kind of just placing those things all over the, all over the planet and everybody starts to catch on. Yeah, that was a, that was a slip up. I didn't, I didn't even realize I said that.
A
Okay. It was good Easter egg, though, if you were doing that. And let's talk about. Can we talk about Taylor for a second?
J
Of course.
B
Always.
A
I never want to do that strictly because I want you to know that we respect the. Out of what you've done for football. We also appreciate to how you're representing football to the world to a lot of people. So we, we love you for that. Never want to take advantage of the relationship you're in. We. But every time I talk about you guys, I think you've heard me say this, like, two greats together is good for society. I feel like you two can motivate each other. Now. I know she's biggest star on earth, so I'm not saying that I think you are same as her. Yeah, right. We all understand the situation with Taylor. You do, too, which. Yeah, exactly. You do as well, which is why I think you were the perfect person for her. But you watching her do her thing and continue to move and move and move and work, has that certainly helped you think through this process of, like, do I still want to go. I'm getting older body doing that? Do you think that is kind of weighted?
I
Without a doubt.
A
Yeah.
J
Without a doubt. She has. We share the same love for what we do, and we've had this, you know, fortunately, we've had this desire since we were kids in our. In our selective professions, and it's just. It's amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding, you know, new melodies and things like that. And on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does. And, yeah, of course, that's motivated. That's motivating for anybody to see, let alone, you know, my fiance. And knowing that I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me, something like that definitely motivates me to say, you know what? I'm not done either. You know, I still got some ideas in the back of my mind. I still got some juice left to play this game, so. Without a doubt.
A
Pat, how has the training been going? You look good. Hey, jaw looks good right now. You're glowing. Yeah, we got this thing nice and shaved up.
J
No, I think I've been. I've been having a few too many garage beers right now. Never too many, but, you know, I need to get back into the. Into the gym and really, you know, hunker down and give. Get back to the craft, man. I think. I think the. The biggest thing was coming back was that we got to be even hungrier than we've been before. And talking to Pat, talking to Coach Reed and the guys, it's. It's a pretty. There's a lot of dog mentality right now to get this thing fixed. And. And. And that mentality itself is already kind of motivating me to. To. To get to where I need to be during the season. So.
A
A hungry chiefs Team is obviously something that we have seen in the past have great success, go to dynastic level. And then now sportsbooks still have you guys up high, but national conversation is like, you know, especially with what's going on. The afc. Max Crosby just got the Raven. Yeah. Raiders in the division. Oh, my God. The Raiders just spent 280 million yesterday. Oh, my God. Jim Harbaugh's got McDaniel out there at the Charger. Yeah. The Broncos bow. Knicks.
F
It was just an AFC championship.
A
Oh, the Chiefs are ass. That. That is kind of the notion. Have you. You guys have kind of understood that, heard that and expect that? Like, is that something that is kind of motivating the boys over there? I assume it would have to be seeing.
J
We're seeing what the world's doing right now. We're seeing how everybody's reacting. But we know we got the nucleus in. In Kansas City. We got some. We got some big hitters in Kansas City and we got Coach Reed. So we're never out of this thing. But we know the. The division's getting. Getting pretty competitive across the board. And you know, that's only going to make it. Make it for us to get better throughout the season and. And be the best team we can be at the end of it.
A
So proud of you, man.
J
We hear it all, though. We hear it all, though.
A
Oh, I like that. I like you guys got a little pettiness in there. Yeah. Need to keep a little pettiness. You want to keep grinding? You know, maybe. Maybe some Easter eggs in here. Yeah, yeah, maybe we feel a little high school when we start doing some pranks, you know what I mean? You're the man. Thank you for joining us, dude. Congrats.
J
Always, always appreciate the time. Good to see you guys, man. Always, always tuning in.
A
Can you please post the renovations that your mom's doing, Please?
J
You already know. I didn't even know she was doing these things. If she needed a guy to come, you know, screw some door hinges in, she could have just called me. But I guess she's doing a big A renovation.
A
What a time. These two Ohio boys.
J
Okay, just Ohio. Ball player, baby.
A
Mom's renovation at House tmz. Breaking news.
C
Biggest news of the week.
A
What a time to be alive. You've earned it all, brother. You've earned it all. Good luck to you guys and we'll have some garage beers to your 14th year.
J
You're the man, my man. We'll see you guys.
A
Ladies and gentlemen, to go, Travis Kelce. Yeah, Travis. Okay, so let's head to the Free pregnancy Fun Zone. A man who travels always out to Kansas City, you know, and a lot of close connections out there. Shrags. Were you hearing the same thing about the Chiefs that Travis just said? Basically a bunch of hungry dogs out there. That's why they made this decision so quickly.
G
Well, it sure seems like everyone else has moved on from the Chiefs and they hear it all. They really do. And it starts with number 15 under center and as he's rehabbing and getting back, he is watching and listening all. And I think that is the under no or undersold piece about Patrick Mahomes. He's got that same Michael Jordan chip on his shoulder where hears and sees it all. And le Bradford Smith might have said what I'm going to create it in my head and we'll make sure that we'll be able to get that last dance done. It starts with Mahomes, it goes to Kelsey. But around that entire team, when you lose Trent McDuffie and you lose Jalen Watson and you get all these people saying, well, the time has passed. Are they a Super bowl threat or are they going to miss the playoffs? And again, there's a lot of pride there. So you see Kelsey with a glint in his eye right there talking about Eric B. Enemy coming back. There could be a different energy in that room now. A little bit more intensity perhaps is what Eric B. Enemy is known for. And Andy Reid still believes he's the best coach in football. So as a fan of football watching that, I'm excited to see Travis Kelce back. If I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan, I am jumping through the screen excited to see that he's got that energy and that passion and that motivation and clearly there is a chip or maybe a mountain on the shoulders of that chief's kingdom right now.
B
I think for the Chiefs too, it's a different era. They're no longer the hunter hunted the hunter, you know, like they're there's teams in the AFC that have candidly over the last two years been better football teams. I would sit here and tell you that Broncos have last two years now, two years ago they weren't at the end result better, but I would say that because of the close wins you would sit there and be like the Broncos were probably the better team over the last years. Houston's the better team. Obviously the New England's coming along. Jacksonville was a better team.
G
This is what Kelsey wants to hear too.
H
Keep going.
B
I like but that's the truth, you know, And Losing. I think they lost three starters out of their secondary last year with Watson, McDuffie and Brian Cook gone. Now they sign Alohi Gilman. So it's just a different version for Kansas City. Legitimately. We've talked about it for years. Maybe 18 months to two years. I think it's a different world now because. Because they get to kind of relish being the hunter rather than the hunted. I'd also say this. They got to play a different style of football and offense. I think they finally came to the realization this year, like, oh, we can't just rely on Patrick all the time to do the. The most wild things and bail us out. Like, yes, Kenneth Walker has to carry the football. They've got to get more balanced. They got to get more physical. They got to run the football.
A
Hey, yeah, I like that. Dan, thank you for the breakdown. Kenneth Walker coming over there is obviously a massive ordeal for them. I think Travis Kelsey is probably pretty excited. You know, we talk about them being the hunter and not the hunted anymore. Still the odds on favorite to win the division AFC west draftkings currently plus 165 chargers make all moves. Okay, sounds good. Broncos. You want to AFC champ. Sweet. Raiders. Oh, that's funny. 281 million. Got a new quarterback. That's cool. Do the Chiefs still play football over there? That is what the sportsbooks are playing. All right. Saying sports folks are saying, you're going to have to show us because the things that have been said about the Chiefs over the last two, three years have been they. They don't win game. They not pretty. They don't win pretty. It's very close. It's kind of an ugly style of football. And we always leave saying, are the Chiefs. Jeeves are dead. And then there's a couple of us that will stand up on a microphone and say, I know it didn't look good and I know they couldn't complete a pass somehow for three quarters. Best quarterback of all time. They get a win, we move on. The Chiefs is still the Chiefs. I. I will say that. And then it gets loud. And I'll tell you, last year, I actually start. I said, this team isn't the Chiefs. Ain't the Chiefs anymore. But I think a reloaded squad now with Kenneth Walker with it sounds like BME back in the building is very good for Travis Kelce and that Kansas City Chiefs team. Patrick Mahomes the quarterback. It's like maybe the sportsbooks are actually feeling how I'm feeling, which is why not a motivated, hungry Squad over there in Kansas City. Debu.
F
Yeah, we. We shall see. And I was right there with you for a while. While last season, up to the point where I had to put that exclamation point on my whiteboard, I didn't want to do it, but I saw that they were dead and I saw what was going on around them. We talked about everything with the different teams building up. This is why it's so tough to, you know, maintain a dynasty. And they've been a dynasty already. Can they go on another run and win a couple more? Absolutely. With Mahomes still there, what will be his timeline? Will he be healthy week one? So it's still a lot of questions right now for the Chiefs, but if Mahomes help. Healthy. Kelsey's healthy. You mentioned you're losing three guys who got paid in free agency. Those are three good ball players in that secondary. You still got a great coaching staff. So all the pieces are still there. But it's tough to go up there and get back to the top.
E
To Dan's point, I think it kind of is shocking. Like the last two years, it was the offense's fault. The last two years of defense has been top five both years and that's Spags. And yes, they did lose three guys out of the secondary, but I think Spags will probably have the defense right again.
F
Again.
E
But yet Patrick Mahomes has been their leading rusher. He was their leading rusher last year. And over the last three years, I believe is their leading rusher. Cumulative. So like that it has to change. It has to be defense or better on the offensive side of the ball. And it all starts with the offensive line. They drafted left tackle in the first round Last year was pretty good there, but they still need to get better on the offense.
A
There was a bunch of stats that they were dropping on the Sports center free agency countdown with Laura. They. They were dropping like Patrick Mountain has been a leading rusher for this. That average George Perush and this and everything else. Everything happened. It was like a bunch of information that was coming out quick. And it's like that is why everybody was saying they were ass last year. And then once they finally did just kind of get eliminated, which was the case, they were playing for nothing last multiple weeks of the season. Travis Kelsey's ass still out there.
F
Yep.
A
Okay. That was year 13 for him with
E
Gardner and Chris Alan.
A
Boom. Still going for it. Almost. Gardner almost got him a win over Raiders. Chargers. I forget which one it was at the very end. It was about a Yard off. You know, this is difference between like Patrick Mahomes and who was the quarterback? It was. What was the Ludicron? Yeah. Was that okay? He was like this far off from hitting Travis for like a fourth down either in fourth quarter or something like that. But if he completes that, it's a game winner, the Chiefs win some wild thing. And it was like in that play, it was the depiction. It's like that's the difference between like homes right there and a guy that's not going to be on the team. Because Travis Kelce was playing these games, it didn't matter at all. Travis Kelsey was potentially risking his entire off season being surgery in rehab with everything he has going on in his life at this point, with one wondering whether or not he was going to play another year. Not only did he play in those completely pointless games. Okay, they were pointless games. Granted, you get paid to play in all of them. But the Chiefs were playing in pointless games and he was maybe done. I think that bodes well for the culture, especially if he's coming back. He said he's had a couple Garage Bears, maybe some whiskeys. You've seen me on a microphone. Everywhere that I go. I have to have a good time. I'll go down tgl, what maybe have one of them bog to drinks. What do they call them?
C
Transfusion.
A
Didn't really know what it was. He said, I'll get back in shape, though. But him making that announcement early first day of free agency frenzy. I'm coming back helps the Chiefs out a lot.
F
Yeah.
A
Which is what a lot of the Pittsburgh Steelers fans are saying about Aaron. Like, hey, if we're doing this, let's do it. And then Aaron last week said, well, I don't have a contract, so what do you want me to do? What do you want me to do? I'll tell you what needs to be done. Baseball needs to not stop. Okay. We're staring down a potential work stoppage in like a year or whatever in mlb. And I am just now. And I know it's been around a long time. Time, some would say. Some would say very long time. Very long time. I've seen the black and whites. I know this is way back in the day. I know baseball is really old. I'm getting into baseball all the way into baseball. World Baseball Classic is spectacular. We need baseball to continue to go up and right. Hope that we don't need to forecast in the future that this whole thing is going to stop because it feels like it is a wagon. Last night we get another huge win. We don't cover last night. We get a huge win tie. World Baseball Classic delivering right now for all of us.
D
Yeah, it is. I mean, obviously our games are always going to deliver, but every game really like you, it's, it's not just BS to say all of these countries really, really care about this and they want to put on for their country. Last night, I mean, we've, we've heard SK talk about how impressive and you know, how important it is, but early and often, you know, Captain America Aaron Judge with an absolute strike to cut down Joey Ortiz at third base. And he responds in the next inning by hitting an oppo two run homer to get USA on the board. This has kind of been the thing with all their games. They're. I don't want to say they're tight early, but they, they obviously feel the tremendous amount of pressure on them. So for Judge, you know, to come in and, and do that early, that was huge. And then Roman Anthony, after getting thrown out early and looking like maybe the slowest man in America, he hits a massive three run homer to put us up five nothing. At that point it looked like we
A
were going to roll.
D
And luckily, you know, we're talking about biggest stars in Kansas City. Bobby Witt Jr. Shortstop for the Kansas City Royals. We said this when we were at their training camp. This guy's just special. And the amount of plays he made last night, just looking like an absolute wizard. Now it, it helps when you have Alejandro Kirk, who is one of the biggest wobble bodies in the MLB running down to first base. So he had plenty of time to throw him out. But seeing two of these games in or two of these plays in that game, I mean these are massive moments that, that's what you listen to the broadcasters in these types of g. Like Mexico has multiple MLB allstars. And so this isn't just like another one of these teams who, it's a fun story. So you give teams extra outs like they will hurt you. We weren't giving them any extra outs last night with Paul SK he was absolutely tremendous. This looked like it was the middle of June. All his stuff was working. He got, I want to say he topped out at 100. So the, the atmosphere, the energy, the environment, he kind of alluded to it pregame. Like this was probably one of the biggest, most important games he started in his career, maybe outside of the national championship. And he had all his stuff working early. It was one of those things where the pitch count limits him. If, if Skin would have been able to throw six, seven innings. Like, we would have beat the hell out of Mexico. He probably would have had 15 strikeouts. He had seven through four, which was a Team USA record.
H
Record.
D
But just tremendous stuff out of skiings, the bullpen, you know, little shoddy. Later, we had a guy who's a starting pitcher pitching long relief. He gave up a couple homers to Jaren Duran, who is, you know, an all Star for the Red Sox. He was very good. But ultimately, this is the kind of game we needed. Mexico's very, very good. And, you know, we win 5 3. We are 30 in pool, in our pool. And we play tonight against Italy to potentially, you know, go four zero and get that top seed.
A
Oh, shut down the Lavazza. Okay, now, esp night Grazi. Prego. Okay. As the USA boys continue their dominance of this pool, play for World Baseball Classic, Nolan Mlan. This who everybody's talking about?
C
Oh, yeah.
A
They're saying he's a guy.
D
Next up, former quarterback at Oklahoma State as well.
A
Oh, really? Weeden. Weeden, Mets.
F
Okay.
A
Yeah. Steve Cohen. Say you're coming on over here, but that's what you're doing. I will say this, that Dominican team scares me a little bit. They're having a lot more fun than everybody else. It's a party on the diamond. Oh, back to. How about Austin Wells? They're telling me this guy just got recruited to go play.
E
He doesn't have the same pizzazz as the rest of the team.
A
He's hitting dongs, too. I mean, they're all going crazy down there. And every single thing is getting celebrated as it should, by the way. I think I found the style of baseball that I like. Yeah. However, the Dominican Republic plays baseball. That's what I like. We got dong shots. I mean, one dong after dong, dong. So many dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong. They're hitting them.
D
Oh, yeah.
A
Out of the stadium and they're pimping everyone.
C
So bright.
A
I mean, everyone is getting pimped fully. We got a jacket, we got a chain. We got a long trip around these bases. Let's let this pitcher feel every last step. I mean, there's Ric Flair coming around first, first base, and then there's full celebration. It is spectacular. It is absolutely awesome. And then Japan, they're playing over there. In Japan, Anything good happens, roof off the place. I mean, it is. I like what baseball's doing right now. Yeah. Was a weight game for the boys down there in Houston, it felt like.
D
And that was. That was Another, you know, thing to that was why it's important.
A
D. Row had to say that to the boys. Skipper. D. Row had to say it to the boys. I heard last night they said on broadcast that D. RO Came in and say, boys, tonight might feel like an away game.
D
Yeah.
A
In Houston, Texas.
F
Wow.
A
That's for a bigger discussion tonight. But we need to go win this thing. And I'll tell you what we did. We did.
F
I need to cover.
A
Hell yeah, I did.
D
Yeah.
A
It's 12:50. We got seven minutes till hard out. And that feels like that's the perfect time to send it over to the free agency fun zone for fits from yesterday. You know, whenever you talk about free agency and money being spent, we always talk physical. But shrag said, hey, how about we talk talk about the culture fits that maybe took place yesterday and what people are trying to establish. Shregs, what's your big takeaway from a Fitz perspective of the first day of free agency frenzy.
G
Malik Willis wasn't going to be for everybody. Malik Willis wasn't going to be the starting quarterback for everybody. Malik Willis makes a lot of sense for the Miami Dolphins. The money is fine. The money is not crazy. The money is not something that the Dolphins are going to lose sleep over. But there is no group of people in the entire NFL who know more about that quarterback than Jeff Halfley, John Eric Sullivan and John Robinson. So John Robinson was the general manager of the Tennessee Titans with Mike Vrabel in Tennessee when they drafted Malik Willis. John Robinson has been in the wilderness for the last couple of years. He was hired a couple months ago by the Miami Dolphins to be a part of their front office. So now you have the guy who drafted Malik Willis, the GM who was a part of the group that brought him in last time with the Packer. And then you have the defensive coordinator who saw Malik Willis in person every day for two years, all three of them vouching for Malik Willis. You better believe that the Miami Dolphins have conviction and that they want him as their quarterback. I could tell you that Malik Willis went through the not Malik Willis. Jeff Hafley went through the head coaching hiring process and part of his plan when he presented it to Troy Aikman and to Steven Ross and to Danny Sillman into that entire Malfin's brass was, we need to make a change at quarterback. And I think I have the right guy. So this one, as far as everyone says, well, he hasn't done anything, has done squat in the league. What's going to happen when he's in Buffalo in December. Well, those are all valid questions. There is no group of people in the entire NFL who know Malik Willis more than the triumphant of men Halfley, John Eric Sullivan and John Robinson more than those three guys. So I would say that fit makes sense for Miami. Might not work for Arizona, might not work for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh. It made sense for Miami.
A
We loved him yesterday. Coming fresh out of.
C
Oh, yeah, he was awesome.
A
Leak is a good nickname too. Hey, Leak looks good. I saw a lot of people in the comments doing that. Him in Miami should be a fantastic thing. How about you, Dano? What about on the field? Any good fits that happened yesterday where money was spent?
B
Yeah, plenty of good fits. I do like Malik in the timeline. I like some of the pass catchers. The addition of likely in New York, Wondale, Mike Evans. I want to show everybody though, Pat, we want to get to that right? So let's.
A
Yeah, we want to get to that right now.
B
I'm going now. I'm going to my.
G
Where you going?
A
Yeah, before I do that, Before I
B
do that, let me get to my
A
kids stuff for three. Bad would have been so smooth.
C
Bad miss.
B
I'mma catch. I'm going catch and shoot.
D
Guys,
A
put on the line. Showing us something here. Let me give you a better pass. Let me give you a better pass. Come on.
B
Deep up my Yukon guy.
A
Yeah, Step in.
C
Foot on the line again, Cash.
B
I made them all wrong.
A
Is this a good fit? I don't know.
F
Y.
A
Okay.
G
Good hit.
C
25%.
A
All right, you on the ground. What is that? Hold on, hold on, hold. Hold on. I didn't look at his stance. Who the hell is. Don't go.
D
Is that Benji Molina?
A
Hey, Alejandro.
G
Kirk, if you're
A
okay, Dano, if you throw a strike right here.
B
Okay, I throw a strike or what?
A
If you throw a strike right here. Okay. $20,000 donation to a charity of your choosing.
B
From the windup.
A
Whatever the hell you want, dude. Good work.
C
Not bad.
B
This thing drop down.
A
Tap the thing.
E
Good work.
A
In front of you. Up front of you, in front of you.
B
One punch.
F
One punch.
A
Oh, my God. You should not.
B
I've got two fights in my life. One I won one.
F
One and one.
A
Not bad.
C
Are you a lefty?
J
Oh, no.
D
Hold on.
A
What?
C
Dude, that's a robe.
A
Okay, now you're doing a putt. Okay, so we made a shot. We threw a strike. We threw a 600 punch, which is not going to knock anybody out. But now we're going to make a putt for 10 grand jar. Yeah, that's pretty good. All right, let's get to the film you're talking about. Fitz, you got about a minute and a half.
B
All right, quickly. Foxy is good. Isaiah likely one on one. So the opportunity to put a guy one on one, the red zone. You could play it and then. And watch where the ball placement is. Foxy frees it on the throw. This is going to be the big thing for Jackson Dart. We often say for quarterbacks, face mask or higher.
I
Okay.
B
Face mask are higher in the red zone because it matters. Belt buckle or lower. And so for Jackson Dart to have a big body guy, neighbors is great. He's not that. Okay. So Isaiah likely also the ability to just get them one on one. Now freeze it. These crossing routes. Okay. When you get one on one man coverage, imagine like this is Malik Neighbors or whatnot. Like this is a nice job of crossing across the field. You could play at Foxy one on one versus man coverage. Jackson Dart making that throw. So I like likely in addition to New York.
A
Okay.
B
Huge addition. Okay, let's go to the next one. Foxy, Mike Evans, Devonte Adams. Think Devonte Adams. Rams one on one down the red zone. This is even like a difficult throw for. Just put him. Give him a chance to make that throw. If you're Brock Purdy. Okay, so that was the fade. D butt knows this. Now watch him win the slant, okay? And watch where he just puts, puts this ball. Baker Mayfield. That's going to be Brock Purdy. So just those one on one opportunities for a guy down in the red zone to win. I love the addition in San Francisco. Michael Pittman Jr.
A
Okay, Pittsburgh.
B
Now think about this. Aaron Rodgers. Can we throw the ball in the little middle of the field a little bit more? In these possession throws, I want you to freeze at the top. Boxy right there. Okay? So see how Pittman gets to the top of his route where his eyes. He's all looking in here. Okay. He's looking in here because he's trying to see what the defense is doing. Okay. Now I don't want you to run full sprint. I want you to sit and be boring. Aaron's going to see this the same way. So that, that, that the ability to see the defense the same way as the quarterback is a really big deal. Once again, up top, Michael Pittman Jr. Okay, see the timing of this. See how he's. There's a defender here, there's a defender here, there's a defender here. I need the receiver to see. There's a void here and there's a void here. You have to see see it the same way as the veteran quarterback. Beautiful, beautiful. Sit in that soft spot.
A
So they needed that. It sounds like perfect fits were made. Money was spent perfect. I don't love the Pittman's in Pittsburgh. I wish we had him in Indy. Hello beautiful people and welcome back to our humble boat, the Thunderdome. On this day two of NFL deal making. March 10, 2026. Also known as we can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living. That's Darius J. Butler right there. The toxic table at Boston. Connor and that Ty Schmidter right there. One half of the Hammer Cowboys AP Tone is sitting nice with a beautiful cowboy hat. It's not just us on this beautiful Thunderdome. It's not just us on this free agency frenzy Tuesday, we also have senior NFL Insider for espn, Adam Schefter and in the free agency funding zone, Dan Orlovsky and Peter Schrager. Now, Orlovsky ended the hour with an incredible breakdown of why some of these wide receivers fit at some of these teams that they just signed massive deals to, but also put on a little athleticism display that I don't think we had seen coming. Did not know it was going to happen. Obviously we laid out things that each one of the particular spots did not know he was going to go in that particular order. No. He throws up a couple terrible basketball shots, then he puts one down finally. Then he steps on the mound and starts talking to shit. Earlier today he said, I was a rod before a rod. Straight face as he's spinning it into Thunderdome. Crazy thing to say, but he meant it. And that's why we love Dano. He throws a strike for $20,000 of charity and he goes over to punching game. Did not know he was going to sign up for that. Been in two fights in my life. I won one. Okay, he's batting.500. You're going to lose some every once in a while when you're throwing hands. How's he going to do over there? 600 punch. People will mock him for that. I think that have never done the punch things. It's Darren Orlovsky, it's Darylofski. What do you want from him?
D
Lover, Not a fighter.
A
Yeah, exactly. He's got a pillow on the right and he's got a sleep cycle on the left. Don't worry about any of that. Yeah, what's that?
C
He's got length. He doesn't have the power punches. He's got the, you know, strong jabs right to the jaw.
A
Yeah, not even to the jaw. Also you'll mess around with Dan and Dan will all of a sudden he'll smack you in the back of the. Yeah.
C
Might hit you with a windmill.
A
Boom.
F
Move.
C
Come over the top.
A
Dan's going to happen. So then he buries a putt. Then he comes, comes up here and does amazing. We appreciate the hell out of you, Dano for those fits you as well. Shrags for. For talking about the culture fit with Malik Willis there down in Miami.
G
Couple thoughts here. I mean, just the entire energy of the day and they like. I thought that was as much of an under pressure performance that we've seen in sports over like the last calendar year. If he fell on his face, do you realize the ribbing that would be
A
Given him if he threw the ball,
D
every threw a wild pitch or if he punched.
G
I mean, incredible. And secondly, I know, I don't. I know the Paul brother down there wants to talk about fighting an ex football player. I saw a punch that went to 600 over here. I would pay good money to watch Dan Orlovsky.
C
Good idea.
G
In a boxing match, take on either of the Paul brothers, WWE excluded.
A
And I would be here right front
G
row watching Rudy, my guy.
A
Dan. Dan, you're not representing football, buddy. No way are we letting that happen. No, no way is that happened.
G
600 trades, is that not good?
C
I mean, it's out of 500.
A
Yeah. 600 out of five.
G
Yeah.
A
We actually turned the governor on so it wouldn't go up above 602, you know, so, I mean, there is a chance of that. But Shregs, let's talk a little bit about this free agency frenzy. A lot of money spent yesterday. We haven't heard damn thing today. This has been a pretty slow day too. We did not expect this. Why do you think that is the case and what are your thoughts on what comes next?
G
Well, it was the mad dash to get to these guys that they've been talking about since the combine. They put their boards together and okay, we gotta go, we gotta do it. And it was fun and everyone gets involved and it's. And now it's who's gonna make the next move. We had a night to sleep on it. Let's reassemble, assess the next year. To me, Trey Hendrickson obviously is the biggest name still on the board. We'll see how that goes down. Adam Schefter's been all over it all morning. We'll see what his asking price is and we'll see if a team will match that asking price. It's also which teams that have been laying in the weeds are going to make a move. It's actually very interesting to me. Three of the four teams that didn't make a move, the Eagles, the Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, who didn't hire, who didn't sign anybody from outside their organization, all were playoff teams last year and two of the three won Super Bowls in the last two years. So you start thinking about, okay, the Tennessee Titans, they went and spent 289 and a half million dollars and we're treating Wanda Robinson like he's Jerry Rice
A
over here at some point. It's the team, it's the team that
G
just retain their people and bring them back and think long term. Tennessee is interesting though, because There is this new fever, this love. But if you're a fan of New York sports and you see, you know, well, they're bringing all of Dable's guys, they're bringing all of Salah's guys, I can be critical here in a week way of just saying, well, those were two of the worst teams in football
A
the last few years. Stop using common sense in this entire.
G
That said Alante Taylor, hell of a signing, good player. He had a big market there. And then you like the guys that they brought in because they do fit the culture. And you know that Salah and Dable and Aaron White Cotton, who is the defensive line coach who now gets back Jermaine Johnson. And on the defensive line here, who's the other defensive lineman they got from the Jets? John Franklin Myers, who was there two years ago with the jets, they get guys they know. So you're trying to build a culture and all this, but slow down. Let's not build a monument in Nashville just yet. It's got to actually happen on the field. And day one of free agency, we don't crown super bowl winners.
A
I wish we would, though, because we kind of did yesterday. Everybody that signed somebody to big money, we were so happy for them.
C
Incredible.
A
I'll continue to live off those highs as well. For them Raiders, I can't wait for them win the Super Bowl. Seahawks did it last year, so maybe they were top five spenders. They're able to do it. But once you do get your team assembled, then free agency becomes, you know, how do we fill the gaps in this entire thing? Let's go over to the man who's been on the inside of it all, Senior NFL Insider from espn, a man who we watched work yesterday. What a chaotic existence, but certainly a weapon. Adam Schefter, how do you kind of see this day two of free agency frenzy going with not a lot of action?
H
Well, Pat, you heard Peter talk about Trey Hendrickson. That's the biggest name that's out there right now. He's waited an awful long time to get to this spot in free agency. He's been talking to a lot of teams, obviously wants to get to a certain point. And the reason there's no deal right now is because up to this time, he hasn't. So we'll see if a deal for Trey Hendrickson can materialize. Every team out there could use a pass rusher. And there are certain teams that you might not expect to be in that market that suddenly are like the Philadelphia Eagles lose yesterday, their pass rusher to the Carolina Panthers. Maybe Philadelphia calls. You don't.
A
No.
H
Dallas still hasn't filled that need to a great degree. They went and traded for a Sean Garry. So it's hard to say which team is going to jump in and which team isn't. But we know there's a great player out on the market in Trey Hendrickson. Of course, we have the quarterbacks that are still out there. Kyler Murray has not been released from Arizona. As we discussed in the first hour. They're holding onto him to a certain deadline this week, maybe tomorrow, 4pm Eastern. And Geno Smith in Las Vegas also has not been released from the Raiders. They have said that they would release him barring a trade. We'll see what materializes with Geno Smith between now and 4pm Eastern tomorrow. But he'll be leaving Las Vegas. Kyler Murray will be leaving Arizona and the places that you look at right now that have openings at the quarterback position. Minnesota is the obvious one for everybody, right? Everybody knows they're going to be bringing in another quarterback. They've been linked to Kyler Murray. They've been linked to Geno Smith. Kyler Murray is the logical favorite there in Minnesota for if and when he does get released, we'll see what happens with Geno Smith. He's played before in the New York market. The jets could be an option in time. We'll see how that works out. But those are some of the moves we're waiting on. Trey Hendrickson, the biggest name, some of the other names out there. We still could get a Romeo Dob signing during the course of this show. Caleb on Chasen still out there. Caden Ellis, the Falcons linebacker. The punter market stried up though, Pat. All the punches are off the board. They've all been paid.
A
Yesterday was a big day for the ball kicking community. Honestly, watching it. Punters signed for 4 million, 5 million, $6 million first day signing. That's not like, hey, we have money left. No, that's like, hey, let's go ahead and get this accomplished, get this done. You're part of the culture and I respect that for the punters as a whole. We'll keep an eye to your Twitter account as news continues to break around the NFL. I do believe there was a deal, Shefty, that I think probably got texted to you if you could put that up on your Twitter account so that we could do the cool glass break gimmick. All right, thank you. Thank you, Shefty. We shall wait now for the glass to break because there has been A move that this room will certainly be intrigued by.
F
Okay.
A
A move that is not only a big name, but also a team that needs a missing void. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time. As we sit in, wait as. Maybe it wasn't our Internet.
D
Huh? Wow.
A
It's the fingies.
H
Well, it was.
A
Maybe. Maybe it was. Maybe it was the finger. Maybe. You know, we're taking a lot of shrapnel on our wi fi. Our show had no problem yesterday. Maybe a little audio stuff. He's less than three feet away from us. Maybe a little audio stuff happened over there. Suspense is killing in the free agency fun zone. But there is certainly a signing that has taken place. And do we have the tweet up?
H
Oh, hold on, I gotta. Give me a moment.
F
You gotta confirm.
D
Gotta cross the t's and dot the I's.
C
Get the money maybe.
E
Yeah, yeah.
A
He needs the photo with the tweet. Yeah, look at it. Yeah, we're watching.
H
Please, I don't need. You don't just put a brain. The Lions are signing Isaiah Pacheco.
A
We wanted to do the thing. Did you put the thing up? Did you put the thing. You got one. Chef D tweet. Day two free agency frenzy. We got one. Ah, this tweet. This tweet was a tweet. Tweet like he was a bird coming out of his mouth. Isaiah Pacheco is going to The Lions. Demo 1/2 of Sonic and Knuckles in the back backfield for MCDC's Detroit Lions football team. Jared Goff's the quarterback. Who are the running backs? Well, as Gibbs and Demo. Sonic and Knuckles. All of a sudden Gibbs though, starts a historic run. Every time he gets the ball is seemingly going for a touchdown. Demo his carries start to dwindle down the stretch. It starts to become not just a Sonic and Knuckles, mostly just Sonic Knuckles. Where you been?
C
Nowhere.
A
They lose inevitably. Demo. Then what's his market? What's he look like? Well, they get him in huge Houston. Now. Are they going to continue a two back system? Well, yes, they certainly are. Gibbs will continue to be Sonic and they bring in a Knuckles, a guy who actually tries to beat up the ground with every single step that he takes. Isaiah Pacheco going to the Detroit Lions feels like a perfect fit. Love everything about the move. Now once again, is this going to take touches away from Gibbs and are they going to end up doing the Gibbs show down the stretch and just if he gets hurt, then Pacheco balancing that is a part of the entire process. That's why having Two running backs is certainly good because you got two guys fresh. But what if both of them get hot? Who do you keep? Who do you lose? It's happening with Team USA right now. Yeah. At the shortstop position because we got an abundance of talent, but only one person can play the position. Kind of started to happen with Detroit last year with Sonic and Knuckles. Will it happen again with Pacheco? They're saying we don't care. We just want to add another great player to the backfield. What are your thoughts?
F
Up until last year year with Detroit, it was really balanced. Like Monty would start a game, Gibbs would start a game. They were exchanged pretty much every series. And then obviously Gibbs became that lead back because he was so dynamic. But he does have some, some ebbs and flows in his game. Sometimes he'll kind of disappear as well. So bringing Pacheco in there to kind of be that off balance. I said it yesterday. I'm a big believer in the running back by committee. I do think you need a lead back. Gibbs will be that guy. Anticipate that. He'll get a big check pretty soon. But you need a physical runner like Pacheco. A lot of people, I'm sure casuals would, would have been much more excited about this signing maybe two years ago. But I think he's still a very, very good running back and I think it's a good signing for Detroit.
A
Chiefs bring in Kenneth Walker. They send Isaiah Pacheco to Detroit. I think he'll fit in well up there. Con man.
C
Yeah, definitely. Especially when you think about how high his knees goes. It feels like every time we talk about Pacheco, it's how angry he is at the ground. Like I. I couldn't even imagine. Imagine what mcdc is thinking.
A
I found a guy. You can't eat his kneecap, man. He actually can. It's too strong. His patella is too strong potentially. You have to love this up in Detroit.
C
Absolutely.
A
I love everything about it. We have to get back to ground and pound football first and then play action second. Last year it wasn't that way. We weren't controlling games because of that. And now I expect them to get a couple more linemen and sure that thing up and get back to mcdc style football. Yeah, I know you guys have lost a couple legendary offensive lines. Lineman.
I
Yeah.
C
Kicked him out of town.
A
Kicked him out of town. They were great players. A bit long in the tooth. How dare you say that about disgusting. You say that. I agree. It was. It's just the truth.
E
Foxy is I can't remember his Pacheco. Is he now, is he ash or ass or Cheeks?
A
No, Knuckles are back. Pacheco would be cheeks. Yep. You would think it would be there.
C
Pacheco.
A
Yeah, but they're not gonna be ass in Pacheeks. They're not. They're not going to be that this year. That's what people are saying about Sonic and Knuckles up in Detroit for a certain time period of the year last year, we are just reporting what people were saying. We did not make it up. Believe me, we wish we did. I know that would have been very funny. The. The Internet is funny. They are on it. They will never miss. So they say Sonic and Knuckles more like ass in cheeks and boy, big pop out of all of us. So it made its way onto the show and then all of a sudden though, Sonic and Knuckles are coming back and dominating hitting again. And then it's like ass in cheeks has gone by the wayside. We are now back to who we thought we were going to be. That all kind of happened when mcdc started calling the plays. That is correct. And who's calling the plays ever? Let's go to the free agency fund zone. A man who predicted that the Detroit Lions would be dead last year and Peter Schrager and Dan Orlovsky who certainly has thoughts on every offense. What does this signing mean and what are your thoughts on the Lions? Start with you, shrag.
G
Well, I love Pacheco. He's got to stay healthy. He was hurt a lot of the time the last two years. So he won Super Bowls his first two years in the pros. The first NFL player ever to win Super Bowls starting at running back in back to back years to start a career. So he already has those big game experiences. Drew Petzing is the biggest question mark. Last year, before the season started, I came on this very show and boldly said the Lions were not going to make the playoffs. I caught so much hell for it. I almost, you know, crawled to Detroit and said in Bedford, forgiveness. They didn't make the playoffs. And up and down the offense was. They had big explosions. But it wasn't the same thing without Ben Johnson. So insert Drew Petsing, who the response to his hiring by Lions fans was not kind, was not widely applauded. But I would tell you, Drew Petzing is one of the more respected young offensive coaches in the league. Despite the facts, Arizona's offense did not hit expectations the last couple years. He is looked at as one of these Wonderkins as well. And if Jan Campbell and Brad Holmes and that organization knowing that they have a core quarterback and Jared Goff who was not getting any younger and a wide receiver and Aman Ross, St. Brown and Penny Sewell on the offensive line not getting any younger. If they decided that this was the man, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. You add Pacheco in there. You now have two very tough running good players in Jameer Gibbs and Isaiah Pacheco. But I do wonder, is that a downgrade, whatever or an upgrade from David Montgomery who's given them so much over so many years.
A
Yeah, David Montgomery and Gibbs were a great talent, tag team.
B
Yeah.
A
But it did clearly become the Gibbs show. Yeah. At the end of that and I assume they're going to continue to commit to that. Dan, your thoughts on, you know, you lose Ben Johnson and it feels like the Ben Johnson effect was felt immediately in Chicago. They're trying to chase that. Still on the offensive side, what did you see from mcdc as a play caller that maybe you like for the Lions going forward or what do you think they need to do more of?
B
Well, I think with Dan there's an identity that he wants, he wants to be playing football the way his personality is like that big, physical, we do what we want when we want style of offense. And they lost that last year because they lost. They weren't nearly as good on the offensive line. That's starting point for them. They two years ago and three years ago when they were like that in that magical run and Ben was cooking up these awesome plays in part was because their offensive line was the best unit in football. And so yeah, they could run the ball in third and seven and it was cool. And everyone was like, wow, this is awesome. 4th and 1. It was a guaranteed first down down running the football. I think we haven't talked about it but they signed Cade Mays, if I'm accurate, from Carolina. So you, you, you bring in Cade Mays. Tate Ratledge is going to be a second year player for them. That really played pretty good football for them. So now it's like you feel better about their offensive line now Taylor Decker, who has been there for, gosh, a decade now, I believe they have parted ways so they're going to have to find a left tackle. But I do think the interior of their offensive line will be better than it was was last year and I think that will allow them to get back to football. I, I'll touch on petsing a little bit because calling Monday Night Football we've done it a couple Times together. I think he's really good in the run game. Personally. I think he's. He's really good with the diversity of their run. He loves using title tight ends. Obviously, in Detroit, LaPorte is a big part of that. The. The asterisk that I would attach to it is they're going to need people in that building that are really good designing their pass game. I. I've always felt, even in Arizona, that the past game concepts, they weren't as creative as I want them to be. And so that's going to be a big deal in Detroit.
A
A little bit more spark, a little bit more pizzazz.
B
Yeah. Just how you get to the formations, the motions, the shifts, the timings, the releases, all that stuff. Plays are plays or plays. You're not reinventing football. How you're getting to them is that's. That's the secret sauce for these play callers and play designers. I think that that's an important role in Detroit.
A
And Ben Johnson was the best at it.
G
He doesn't look the part, Pat. That's basically.
E
What do you mean?
A
He's.
G
He's a. He's a shorter guy.
A
Bald.
G
He doesn't look like 55.
A
Bald guy.
G
This is not a guy. He's not. Doesn't look like Sean McVeigh.
A
Doesn't look like he's gonna be next to Mc DC
G
so I think Lions fans see a visual of him and they see that he was with the Cardinals.
A
Come on, man.
G
And they feel like that's a step down, man.
H
Well, we were.
A
Come on, man. We need you to make a better call there, man.
D
We were saying it about Mike McDaniel. That was like the final thing that I think happened before he got hired as mcdc. Gave him a big wedgie and hung him by his underwear on the coat
B
rack on the back of his door.
D
Be eye to eye with him. Yes.
A
You don't know McDaniel looking or. I'm sorry. Mc DC looking down at him, though, and saying, deep shot.
C
He might. He might Baby Bjorn him. We can't. We can't rule that out.
A
That would be whispering.
C
Exactly. So they're whispering to each other.
A
This man has a family. No, we understand, but just mcdc is so large. So if he's going to be sitting there next to a 5. 5 bald guy who's the offense coordinator, I think that's a good piece of journalism where we need to, you know, what's that?
C
Now that we're talking about it, I'm assuming Petsing is saying hey, look, I got to be in the booth.
A
I'm not standing next to you.
D
Yeah, you might be right.
C
I'm going up top. I can see the field a little better from up there. It's a great.
A
I think it's looks like a football guy. What? What do you mean? Everybody's saying he doesn't look like the part. What do you mean? Shreks? He doesn't look like a football guy. Is it because he took a picture next to mcdc?
E
Does not stand next to anybody in the picture.
A
Yeah, yeah.
C
He looks 8ft tall in that photo.
A
He does. That's actually some good.
G
Looks good in that photo. He looks good.
A
I like him. You're saying people killed him, though, just because the way he looks? Yeah, because people are stupid and they
G
don't look at like, okay, the guy's got 20 years of coaching football. Let's give him a shot. I just feel like it was a stereotype, stereotypical take that every Lions fan had. He does. Who is this guy? Wait, he looks like that? All right, I'm out. Give it a second. Let's see. Because you could look like the greatest football coach in the world and from a movie, and you could be John Voight from Varsity Blues. Truth of the matter is, if you can't draw it up, you can't draw it up. Petson can draw it up.
A
Yeah. I give that whole thing a 10. A 10?
B
10.
A
Yeah. That was a great movie. I was asked the other day at radio wrote, Dan, you've seen that movie, Varsity Blues?
B
Of course.
A
The clean version, Dan's life, the one
B
that shout out to James Vanderbeek and
A
Paul Walker, rest in peace, Hulk Bureau. Yeah, definitely, Coach. What a movie. I didn't expect Dan Dano to be watching.
D
He's seen it on MTV where they
A
bleep out all the swear words.
E
Ally Lauder doesn't do the whipped cream.
G
That scene is cut.
A
Doesn't know the 10 thing I just did.
D
No, no.
A
He's like, oh, is that a play? I don't remember just seeing the gif. Okay, I get it. Dan, we love you, man. We appreciate you.
B
I have seen that movie in the unedited form.
C
Oh, my.
E
Go to.
B
In the 90s. I was a teen in the 90s.
A
Yes, you were. Yes, you were. And we got a chance to see it. If there was a ball around, you were certainly going to try to break something.
B
Dude, this place is the best, man. I would literally live here.
A
Well, there's something. There's something to say about that. We, we appreciate you coming out here. Dano. Let's head back into Shefty. Oh, there's a photo I was just shown of the guy that I certainly probably saw others.
C
Yeah, you know, ox football guy.
A
Just absolutely through and through.
C
That's the other reason the Lions fans are pissed because they're just coming off of a short ball guy with Timmy Horton who did not do well.
A
Johnny Mole respect. That was an interesting move though. Mcdc picking up the play calling duties while that guy's still there. Yeah. And then saying just watch me and then saying who I was with. Ben Johnson too. What are we even.
E
I believe the first game he picked it up was against the 32nd ranked defense.
A
It was. Yeah. And they hummed 50. Good play scored on every possession that game actually. Okay, so let's talk about the current salary cap situation for teams, you know, because we already talked about who spent. Let's see who still has money to spend at this point. Now remember, you can get good deals right now. Guys can get four or five million dollars deals and you know, really do some damage for the team. Still up over 90 million, 80 million there and the Buffalo Beals 10 million. They signed Connor McGovern to a deal. He'll be joining us in the next hour. Obviously he's excited. I think they watched program up there. So I think he's bumped. He just got paid very well. Then you got some of these teams down here at the bottom that are trying to do some work to get back on the other side. We assume they're going to be quiet. We have no idea how the Carolina Panthers still have money to spend after what they did yesterday. Surprising big winners Carolina Panthers yesterday and I guess we should have expected them to kind of go for it. Especially with what we learned from David Tepper ownership when he stopped by the show on Radio Row. It's like he will leave no stone unturned trying to win. And it's like some of the scenes we've seen in the past that have painted him in a light of like, is that what an NFL owner is supposed to act like? He goes, can I, can I get my side? Can I, can I say my side? These guys were disrespecting my family.
C
Got a hurt player on the field.
A
He gave an entire thing. It's like, okay, not that bad. He's gone hands off. Because he trusts Dan Morgan, I believe, and Canales and I believe there's another person down there, Shregs, who's the other guy down there in Carolina that did a Bunch of work for them yesterday.
G
Brent Tillis is his name. He was the cap guru in Kansas City. They brought him over to Carolina two years ago and he interviewed for the GM job. Dan Morgan got the job, but they still brought him in another role, an advisory role. And Brent Tillis is like a wizard with the numbers. So they got the Chiefs top cap guy and they brought him to Carolina in the last two offseasons have crushed it.
A
Yeah. And I think they were able to spend a ton of money and make some plays that nobody expect them to. Devin Lloyd, obviously, and Jalen Phillips going to the Carolina Panthers. They got Bryce Young on the offensive side and they sold that stadium out for a playoff game.
D
Yeah.
A
Feels like they're back to life. That's good news for ball as a whole. The Philadelphia Eagles sitting there with 13 million and their cabinets got kind of raided. Yeah, yeah. But people just kind of going after. And then there was a little bit of rumbling about maybe a trade along the D line. But anything is possible, I guess at this moment, especially for anybody that doesn't have a lot of cash, you know, and restructuring of contracts. We're in that season here as well as teams are going to have to get under the number. San Francisco 49ers with 20 million. They're still making place. What a signing yesterday. Mike Evans. I mean that was a magical month. We go over to Shrag's over and free agency fun friend zone over there. And he goes, mike Evans is moving soon. He's not going back to the Bucs. And then bang, Shefty tweet, he's going to the San Francisco 49ers. What a gigantic move yesterday by the Niners. D Bud, I don't think we've talked about that nearly enough. Mike Evans no longer a buck headline. Mike Evans now a part of the 49ers offense. Crazy to think about the opportunities and expectations.
F
Yeah. When we were talking about it, we said if you're going to leave a place you've been so long, you have so much history, you're probably going to go somewhere that's established, that should be a contender. And you obviously look at the teams, you look at the quarterback. So you have Brock Purdy, you got a great play caller and head coach with Kyle Shanahan. This is a team that can get there, that can get over the hump. And we talked about with Devonte Adams, the difference he made with the Rams and Matt Stafford all. I don't know how many one yard touchdowns he had last year, but once you get into to that, that low red area with this guy. It's a mismatch, it's a slant fade. You can almost know the route. But as a corner, as a db, it's tough for you to get in between the quarterback and this receiver right here. 13. He's been doing this for a long, long time. A Hall of Famer. When it's all done, this is a great move by the San Francisco.
A
Yeah, we, we talked about, we gave a comparison of Devonte Adams, I believe is what Dano brought up. Whenever you talk about Mike Evans for that San Francisco 49ers offense, Gronkowski was another one. Whenever you're down in a row, red zone, you just kind of flank him out one on one. What are you going to do with K? He has the best get off. So he's got a two way go on somebody so Matthew Stafford knows he's going out there. It's almost a guaranteed touchdown. Gronkowski was unblockable. If he thought he could shake you, he'd go outside. If he wanted to just box you up, he'd do that and Tom Brady would hit him. What has happened now is Brock Purdy gets his own version of that.
I
Right.
A
Is kind of what everybody's thinking with Mike Evans because he's unguardable if he goes in or out. And if it's out on a knockout island, I mean it feels like that's a touchdown. Tay had 10 touchdowns last year inside five yard line, which obviously led the NFL. Might be the history, the best in the history. It's like if that's all he does, seriously, for the Niners, that would be a massive, massive signing for their team to go on a run, let alone all the other shit of him taking the top off so George and everybody can kind of eat up underneath, let alone Christian McCaffrey. You have to have a box. It's like Shanahan has to be dreaming that Mike Evans is a 49 niner. And I don't know, did any of us expect him to leave? I did not expect him to leave the Bucks. I thought this was a Larry Fitzgerald situation.
C
Yeah, exactly. I think the assumption was just him and Godwin and Baker were going to ride it out until the end. Especially when Kate Otten, who was their free agent tight, ended up going back. It was like, okay, they're getting the band back together. That's going to happen. But even with Mike Evans in San Francisco, we talked about earlier how big Pittman is losing him just in the wide receiver room. Like Mike Evans getting in there and helping out Ricky Pierceall. Ricky Pierce all really hasn't had had like a veteran presence in the wide receiver room. So even the knowledge he'll be able to pass on to help those other guys out. Not to mention, you know, they only really have two ti or two wide receivers out there because KD and use checker on the field so much with McAffrey too. Like, the 49ers might be all the way back, but I did see a lot of people making a lot of jokes about the substation and Mike Evans hamstring.
A
I did. I saw a lot of that. The Internet's going to let their jokes fly. That's what they're going to do. But ladies and gentlemen. Oh, chef, did you tweet? Day two of free agency frenzy. Zayn Gonzalez one year deal with the Miami Dolphins. Mike McCartney said, Adam, wow it. Zayn Gonzalez going to Miami. Gumpies in the back grinning like the butcher's dog. D butt. This is something you see said has to get done for the Dolphins.
F
Yeah. Zane was on the top of my big board. This is the guy who. His hair fixes his hair like.
D
Yes.
F
Okay. Okay. Yeah. That's attention to detail yesterday. Yeah.
E
Riley Patterson's also gone.
B
I guess he was 27 to 29 last year.
I
So.
B
Yeah, this is.
E
This is good.
C
Yeah.
A
And I think it was like 10. 10 to 10 or plus 50 or something like that. Yeah.
F
I trust.
C
What is Sully doing, man?
F
I trust Sully and Lynn.
I
Lynn, Ben.
A
Hey, I'll tell you what. Solly and who?
F
Lynn, Ben.
A
Lynn, Ben. Minority owner of the Miami Dolphins bought a 1% stake of the Miami Dolphins. $175 million.
F
His fingerprints are all over Lynn.
A
Ben bought into F1 as well down there in Miami. And all the other things that he bought into made us realize maybe Steven Ross doesn't care about the dog. Yeah, maybe. All the other things are doing really well. And if Lynn bin's buying in at 1 point percent for 175 million for a team that hasn't won a Super bowl since when, Gumpy? 1970. What? Two perfect season.
I
Three.
A
Three what? That was the year of the super bowl or the no.
F
73 we won back to back. 72. 73.
A
Oh, perfect season. Then you guys had a blemish, but you still won a Super bowl. So since 1973.
I
Y.
A
I love the Dolphins, man.
E
When's the last time a playoff game was 1?
A
25 years ago, ladies and gentlemen, giving us more details maybe on this deal. I don't Know how they got to this? Zayn, known to be a tough negotiator. Mike McCartney, forget about it. He'll throw the pen down in the middle of all negotiations. You want to dot eyes crossed T's. He said, I don't have a pen. How are we doing anything? That's what Mike McCartney does. So the fact they're able to get a deal done is magical. Let's go over to Adam Schefter. What's cooking, Adam, what is happening in this free free agency frenzy?
H
Well, you know, you were talking about the Niners, and I think that there was a feeling in Tampa all along with all the young wide receivers that he was going to leave. And I think the 49ers set their sights on him and they were haggling over the contract. You put up the guarantee or the money? Three year deal worth up to $60.4 million. That was really for cap purposes. It's more like a one year deal that includes $16.4 million of guaranteed money. 16.4.
E
So.
H
So even though the numbers are advertised, bigger, come in bigger. It's really a smaller deal. For Mike Evans, who felt like it was ready, it was time to move on, try something new, operate in a new offense. We've seen the kind of success that it could have for other receivers later in their career, and I think he just wanted to try something new. Going to San Francisco with the 49ers substations, that's new, but they believe they'll be able to fit him into the offense. He'll be a major factor as we continue to awaken, await the latest kicking and punting news here in the cool headquarters where the WI fi is working tremendously.
A
Okay, got good WI fi today. Maybe it's not as much action. Maybe that's potentially quiet. You knew that was going to be. You knew that was going to be the case because how crazy yesterday was. And by the way, they kept score. You won yesterday.
D
Yeah.
A
Boy, shift in a route. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You won. Congratulations. No big deal. Also, Max Crosby on Friday. But is that a part of this? I don't know. You tell me.
I
I.
A
You crushed it. We appreciate that. But you knew today was going to be a little quieter. It felt like as you came in
H
here this morning, I would say this. There was so much activity yesterday and it was not considered a great free agent class. So when you take all the sizzle names out on the first day and you have to wait for the quarterbacks like Kyler Murray and Geno Smith till later in the week and we've already seen 10 trades made. How much more can you realistically expect on day two? Like I said, there's still are some really good players out there and we're still waiting for some compelling deals. But to beat yesterday, that was an all time day one. That was a crazy day one. About as crazy as you could have on the first day of free agency. And so it's hard to top that on day two.
A
Yeah, we enjoyed the hell out of yesterday and we'll be excited to see what all comes about today. Go ahead, Tone.
E
Yeah, Chef. You keep bringing up Kyler and Gino. What about Kirk Cousins? What's his current market like? Is that a maybe a situation I've heard potentially in Pittsburgh while they're waiting on Aaron, Is Kirk potentially a fallback?
A
What?
E
Have you heard the latest on Kirk?
H
Well, Tony, you know, it's funny. I. I've brought up Geno and Kyler and I haven't brought up Kirk Cousins and I haven't brought up Russell Wilson and I haven't brought up Joe Flacco. There's a lot of quarterbacks out there and there are only so many openings out there right now. Kirk Cousins will be released tomorrow by 4pm Eastern. At that time, he'll become a free.
A
Free agent.
H
It doesn't sound like he's in any rush. Go make a decision. We saw last year Philip Rivers come in late in the year. Kirk Cousins can sit back, wait. He's made more money than anybody and he has not to be in any rush to go take a job. I don't think he's rushing out to Pittsburgh now. I will say this. If Aaron Rodgers decided all of a sudden not coming back to Pittsburgh, thank you very much. Could I see Kirk Cousins come into play as a potential option for the Steele Steelers? Definitely at that point in time. Do I think he's rushing into anything right now? Doesn't sound that way, but let's see how it shakes out.
A
Okay, so Kirk Cousins, potential. What about Derek Carr? That came and went pretty quick.
H
Yeah, I haven't heard much chatter about that. Again, there would have to be a team that is willing to trade for him. And the Saints have continued to say that nobody's approached them about it.
A
Okay, so the Saints will keep us updated on their car market. Who knows who lands where because until Kyler's released them tomorrow, Gino's release tomorrow, Kirk's released tomorrow, we have no clue who's heading where. Gino back to the jets would be crazy. That'd be cool. That would be absolutely crazy. Shefford kind of alluded to that earlier. He's like, maybe the jets are in the market there. Indianapolis Colts situation would be certainly something as we kind of try to figure out that Gino or Collar or Kirk or hey, Derek. Yeah, yeah, if we can't get Daniel Jones. Yeah, we'll do it again. Give us the Carson Wentz experience if need be, which might be happening for the New York jets quarterback kind of shuffling is fascinating and I think it has a little bit more of a heightened attention or heightened excitement because we've seen these quarterbacks who have kind of been in places go and have massive success at other spots. Maybe they find their actual home where they're supposed to be, the places that they're supposed to go, let's say eat dinner at and stay at home and train at is all in one place and they find their best versions of themselves, themselves. Those are all possible with these guys. And I think that's why it's so exciting. But man, it'd be great if they did that today. I don't like that they're holding on Collar till tomorrow. What are we supposed to do today? Yeah, well, we're supposed to be super excited.
D
Speculate. Hard to be. Hard to be. Maybe they'll trade him though. They won't, but maybe they will.
A
Well, Shifter said that's not gonna happen,
D
but you never know.
A
But there is a chance. And they're like, well, why would they be doing Kyler any favors? It's like, what about football? Yeah, yeah.
B
What about us?
A
What about football as a whole with
E
the jets and Gino? I believe the jets, jets have three first round picks next year already. And there's a lot of people saying like if they want to get that number one overall, bring Gino. And he just did that for the Raiders.
A
Okay, so there's no reason for you. He's a great West Virginia Mountaineer. And a lot of the interceptions, a lot of the interceptions that happened against Geno this year were plays of guys careers. I'm talking from low league, Pop Warner, high school, college and NFL guys were swooping in like they were Troy, Paloma, Lou getting the best picks they've ever had against Gino. He got unlucky this year. Feels like that entire team was maybe asked if he gets a right opportunity again, maybe here in Indianapolis, maybe back at the New York Jets. But on that note, three number ones is what they made all the moves for. They have a lot of money. Everybody's entrusting that this group at the jets is going to make the right decisions. I hope they do that because that'd be good for jets fans. There's a lot of scary decisions that have already been made there though that make us wonder if they're going to be good decision makers. Hopefully they'll be able to do that. Let's get head back to the free agency friend zone over there with the two fun guys, Dan Orlovsky and Pete Schrager. Orlovsky, what quarterback story is kind of most intriguing to you? Obviously you told us about Kyler dropping into Kevin oconnell's offensive system. Kyler more of a freestyle guy. Kevin oconnell system more locked in. Gino Smith heading into Frank Reichs potentially over there in New York for the Jets. TUA at Atlanta with Kevin Stefanski. What are the Malik in Miami? What are your new quarterback situations that are seemingly brewing? What are your thoughts on them and who's who's not going to be ass?
B
You think I'll start in Atlanta with tua? I really believe that this was the right choice for both parties. The place in TUA for tua's perspective, the place in Atlanta best offensive line to has ever played with. Not even close. And then they are loaded with talent obviously Bijan, Drake, London they signed. Who's the reason? Philadelphia Eagles. Correct. Thank you for that tone. So like there's plenty of talent and they've tagged cow Pitts. So I'm not telling everybody that this is going to be Sam Darnold in Seattle last year. But I do think that the conversation over the last 24 hours has been a little bit not real when it comes to tua. Two years ago he was in the MVP conversation, led the NFL in passing. Definitely a decline, no doubt. But if they can find ways to kind of mesh the systems together that's a bit. I also think it makes sense for Atlanta. We have no idea what Michael Penic is going to be when he comes back. If he comes back, how it's going to operate, all that. Okay, I think it's the let's figure out what we have at the quarterback spot this year and if either of these guys blows our mind for Ken Stefanski and Matt Ryan, great. If not 2027. I think the my attention right now is focused on probably some other places. Number one Arizona. Arizona signed Gardner menu. No question that that that's like a good a backup role. But is Michael Flor going to go into the first season with as a head coach with just him? Are they a team that you pay attention to in the draft, maybe. Are they going to try to move down in the draft and maybe be a guy for a play for a guy in the draft, a Ty Simpson, a Drew Aller, a Garrett Nussmeier or something like that? I'll bring this up to you honest. If you're the Indianapolis Colts.
A
Well, okay.
B
If you're the Indianapolis Colts, what would you rather do? Chase after Kyler Murray for a million, a million and a half or be strangleholded by Daniel Jones and his group for 50 plus million?
A
It was this guy who said 50 million.
C
Good question.
A
I don't need you rear naked choking my opinions and thoughts right now in this free agency frenzy.
B
What would you rather do?
A
So would have been a tough spot. Dan, is that real? Who are you reading? Is this somebody? Is this I got fake News Garage at Fake News Garage some troll making this up that they wanted 50 million or did they tell you exactly that Daniel Jones is looking for 50 million plus a year because of what happened. Coming from fresh off a broken leg on one side and a torn Achilles on the other side and we don't know when he's going to be healthy.
B
I'm just saying it's an interesting situation. I don't know. I know I've not heard 50 million or whatnot, but I do think there reports that they offered him something similar to a Sam Darnold deal which was 3 for 100.
A
I do believe if you go back and do the math, the transition tag here that he's on is like 36.8. So it's actually a little bit more. Maybe if they did offer them Sam Darnold deal. But once again, we don't know what's real and what isn't real. Both teams and agents are trying to get numbers out out there, you know.
C
Oh yeah.
A
To try it. To try. And in between our rooms, you know what I mean? We're can't hear his. They're trying to say he can't hear. She's in his. Yeah, he can't hear right there. He can't hear anything. Chef can't hear anything. They don't tell me anything. They don't tell me anything. But there's always news getting sent out for different reasons. If Daniel Jones is able to get like a three year $150 million deal to play quarterback, I will be so happy for him. I'll be so happy for him. Now I don't think that's feasible for the Colts to do, especially after what we just did for Alec Pierce and what we're going to have to do for Jonathan Taylor and all these things. And was Daniel Jones the only one that really brought us happiness and excitement? Yes. So is that the right decision? I don't know. But to your point, if we can get Kyler in that Shane stocking offense. Oh, man.
C
Him and JT in the same back question Dan.
A
And it's a million dollars. I want Daniel Jones, please.
B
Sure.
A
Final answer. Broken leg, torn Achilles and all. He was playing with broken leg.
C
Still bringing it.
A
And he said why do you tears Achilles? Well, I bought broken leg, the Achilles.
B
What's pointed two.
G
They were eight and two at the time.
B
So let's. Let's call it Thanksgiving world. I mean, what. What is. We saw that Kirk Cousins now it. I think Daniel's probably six years younger than when Kirk did it. But you're still dealing with the reality of Daniel Jones. I would agree. 3 year 150. I'd be ecstatic for him. I. He has the ACL for his time in New York. Right. Didn't he do his ACL in New York? And there's an Achilles tear. So you. I think there's things that the. The color Colts who feel like, okay, some good things are happening. I just think it's an interesting situation to just pay attention to.
C
Dark. What do you want?
F
Butsy I put me in a stranglehold.
A
Yeah. Because we're living in good times right now. Look at this. This was a good time to be a cold spit. He's back. He's back. We gave him to it. We gave it. We gave it. We paid big time. We're appreciative of that. He's back. We were winning everything. We're eight and two. Dano, number one team in the league. You guys weren't talking about it on get up in first take or NFL Live, which we felt the disrespect for. But for on our show. Number one headline coming out of NFL was that the Colts are going to win a Super Bowl. That's what it was. And then there was people in New York. They were obvious like Daniel Jones is going to Daniel Jones. And then he just kept getting better and better and better. And then we came back from a bye weekend. The guy can't move. Yeah. Then he got a broken leg.
F
What were the numbers? 93%.
C
97%, 93% pessimism.
F
And I. I was certainly in that group.
E
Yes, you were.
F
Never thought I'd be here today, but it's Daniel Jones no matter What?
A
Okay, so 50 million a year. Daniel Jones.
C
Yes.
A
Me, too. Back to you, Dan. That's our final answer.
F
Boom.
A
We want Dan Jones at 50 million. It. 65 million a year.
E
Let's not forget that Riley torched the Texans defense till late in the year.
B
Can I.
G
Can I stand up. Could I stand up for the editorial choices of the other programming on this fine network? The Dallas Cowboys do move the needle, and we're very relevant. When we were talking about the Micah Parsons trade. We only report the news, and we have to respond to what's in the headlines. Pat.
D
Peter Schrager.
A
Okay, I understand. I understand. You're talking about why you guys didn't talk about the Colts being great. Got it. I appreciate you clarifying that entire thing. And I understand you have to get that convo off. I get it, honestly. Listen, if you guys could book Jerry on there a little bit more, we'd all be appreciative.
C
Yes.
A
He's working Landman. Stupendous. I mean, absolutely great. Stupendous. Stupendous. He was great, Danny. He literally was.
H
I don't watch tv.
A
Kyler in Indianapolis would be crazy, but it seems like all. I don't watch tv. This guy. You don't watch college football either. You make it apparent. Okay, okay. You do that. But Kyler to the Vikings seemingly just already done.
F
Yeah, sure.
D
Sounds like.
C
Lock that in.
A
But weren't they interested in Daniel Jones, too, last year?
D
Correct.
A
They might still be shrags. Go on. You seen?
G
Well, I think. I think the assumption is that, you know, we talked about parental leave and we talked about Sam Darnold, but there really was a piece of this where it was Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold leaving Minnesota, which was part of the decision to let Quesi Adofo Mensa go as the general manager. That the. The thought that we could have both of those players in our room and both of those guys, Darnold and Jones have these successful seasons elsewhere was almost the cardinal sin of what this last organization was with the Minnesota Vikings. They love Daniel Jones there. I don't think that is the next landing spot for Daniel Jones. I think Indianapolis makes a ton of sense, and it seems like they like him. The question is, what are the numbers going to be? And gosh, Dan, I mean, Kyler for a million three or Daniel Jones for even 30. Something, something. And then you throw in the J.J. mcCarthy of it all. It is a conversation worth having, and
B
it's a Daniel Jones that there's a question mark of health that's Also, it's not Daniel Jones that was playing top five, top seven football last year. It's Daniel Jones who does have a little bit. I do think this is it.
G
And I would, I would bring it back to you guys at the toxic table. There's, there's an off the field element where it felt like Daniel Jones meshed with that organization, meshed with that coaching staff. And the city seemed like they were loving the whole Daniel Jones story. That doesn't go into the film work and the stat sheets and the numbers like we have over here.
A
Guys having beer is a tin whistle.
D
Exactly.
A
Indianapolis motor speedways Indy 500. So, I mean, the guy took to the city like a fish to water and he won immediately into what dbut said. I don't know if you guys even saw this. There was an optimism poll that done by the New York Times, right? I believe it was the New York Times Athletic or whatever for every fan. Now who takes these polls. Obviously nobody I know or people, nobody likes me. From my understanding of how these polls go, I've never understood it, but there was a 96 or 97%, like pessimism rate for Colts fans that took that poll for going into the season with Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson being the quarterback, I mean, it was just like the Colts are ass. Their fans even think their ass. Nobody's happy now. I tried my absolute best to remain optimistic because we only got 17 games a year. Promise to us. Okay? So if you go into a season just thinking your ass, that's a bad way to view the NFL. That's a bad way to view football season. Football season is a massive piece of my life. I would like to have a little bit of something to wake up to. Okay? So whenever Daniel Jones comes in, I start watching the highlights of Daniel Jones. I go and meet Daniel Jones. I go, holy shit, this is big guy. Huge. This is a big guy. And I start remembering the glory days of betting on Daniel Jones is over for rushing, which you're not going to be able to do in Massachusetts. Seems like for a while over on rushing for Daniel Jones. And it always hitting. It's like, wait a minute, this guy is athletic. Wait a minute, this guy has played some good football. And wait a minute. Do we have any other option? Not really. From everything that we had heard inside the building, it was not a very good culture. So having somebody from the outside come in, turn our team into what he. He did and play the ball that we saw, I think that's why you're getting us saying give him 100 million a year if that's what he needs. Those were magical times. And we felt alive and we felt like we had a chance. And that's why I think these types of free agency frenzy days are so important, because the teams that are absolute shite, we're talking about Tennessee Titans, the Raiders. I mean, the commanders were in the game. They didn't make it into the playoffs. It's like these days when these things happen, you have hope, you have optimism. You think that maybe when, whenever we're eight to ten weeks into the season, we're still going to be able to talk, that our team has a chance to win. To Lombardi, we had all those things with Daniel Jones and we've had a hundred other quarterbacks where we, we're nowhere near having that. So, Dan Orlovsky, I think you're going to hear us say, give us Daniel Jones or give us nothing. All right. Even if he can't run for three months.
B
I love that. I love that. I don't. Again, I don't disagree with you a ton. I do think it's a really good football team that's going to need good quarterback play and hopefully that's going to be Daniel. But I do think it's interesting. I'll throw another two out at you.
G
Okay, just before you do that, I got, I got, I got one. Guys. I don't have the shift or tweet thing. This is not as big a news as some of the other ones, but it's a player that mattered for the Giants last year. Adam, if you're listening, Micah McFadden, Giants linebacker, returning to the New York Giants. I'm getting the text right now. They've agreed to terms on a one year deal. Continue.
B
And that's terrible. Pharrell Edmonds, they signed him while he
A
stays with the Giants. Good for him. That's McFadden football, though.
D
That's right.
A
Yeah, we like that.
B
I'll throw in this one. You probably have a little bit of information on just if you're a Browns fan or a Jets football. Okay. With. With the Browns. Do. Do the fan base. Does the fan base want to go ahead and say Todd Monkin, play Shador Sanders and he's our starting quarterback, or DeSean Watson or Dylan Gabriel, but it feels like Shador. And if it's great, it's great. If not, we're going to 2027. Is that a thought process? And the same with the New York Jets. Like, are the jets. If you're a Jets fan, would you prefer to sign Geno Smith or Kirk Cousins and try to be competitive in some games this year because they've made some good additions or are you like. No. Win as little games as possible?
A
Oh, we're not doing the NBA over here.
B
No, I'm telling. As a fan base. Fan base. As a, as a. Like let's be literal here. Let's be real, not, you know, fantasy. Like three first round picks next year.
G
Yeah. And they got five picks in the top, I think 44 this year.
A
You can win some games, Archman. You can win some games still.
B
Yeah, I know, but that's my thing is like, do you want to sign one of those quarterbacks to win some games? If you're Aaron Glenn, I'm sure you do. If you're Aaron Glenn, I'm sure you want to be as competitive as possible, winning many games.
A
What about fireman Ed going out there?
B
I just think it's interesting to have the conversation of like what's the actual quarterback move then?
C
I think there are jets fans that are warming up to Ty Simpson getting picked with their second first round pick this year. And then. Yeah, and then if it goes well, it goes well. And if it doesn't, then just doing the same thing next year, punting on him and then drafting a different quarterback.
A
We would like to go on the record that although we have attacked Dan Orlovsky for what he has said about Fernando Mendoza, we are tied to Simpson fans. Well, we think Ty Simpson also very athletic. Great leader. Great leader, which I think is a big deal. I think he is a beers with the boys guy. So we obviously love that moxie and he can spin it now. He did get banged up pretty good.
D
He was in a bad spot.
A
He got banged up pretty, pretty good. And that Rose bowl game too, when pawns hit him in his spine and that ball got ejected. I mean he was taking some monster shots which that Indiana team was doing to everybody and it wasn't really being talked about. So Ty Simpson as your quarterback. If you think he can be your NFL quarterback, everybody's talking about can't go top five, can't go top 10. He'd see him as two. It's like Penx wasn't supposed to go when Pennx went.
C
Yeah.
A
If one of these teams thinks he can be their quarterback, they will pull the trigger. The quarterback position matters more than anything else. Especially with what we're seeing with the quarterback market right now.
E
Yeah, if you, if the jets think Ty Simpson is their guy, they'll take tie. But to Dan's point. There's a lot of speculation that yes, with those three first round picks next year you can go get whatever quarterback you want. And what is, if you look at it right now, supposed to be a loaded quarterback draft. Now this one was supposed to be too. Yes, it was N Meer and Aller and, and Clemson. Thank you, Cade Clubnik. Like these guys were all projected to be really good. Mark Konowski, obviously. Dante Moore, Sellers, Arch.
A
Right, Wasn't Arch.
E
Oh yeah, but like so yes, this one was supposed to be that. Next year is obviously supposed to be that as well. So I mean there's talk like, I mean that's, that's a front office decision that jets are going to not to make.
A
Hey Shregs, where's that draft at next year?
B
Yeah, Washington D.C. no, no, this year.
A
This year.
G
This year it's in Pittsburgh.
A
You're damn right it is. Did you see Pittsburgh Steelers signed Rico Dow? Oh, I did see that Rico do signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now Pittsburgh Steelers fans are used to grinding pound football. They're used to good defense and they're not scared to go ahead and pound another team right in the front face. Rico runs hard. Rico is great. And Rico was on a, a good football team last year and they were a good football team last year a lot because of Rico Dowdle. A lot of these highlights are going to be against a few different teams where he dominated, but one of them was certainly the packers tie. This guy's a player, he's a playmaker downstretch. He didn't do as much. I don't know if he wasn't getting the ball or what the case was, but the Steelers pick up a good one here.
D
Yeah, I think it was, you know, Chuba Hubbard. Guy got hurt early and he kind of got all the carries and then all of a sudden, you know, he just, he ripped so many, you know, 200 yard games off in a row. I mean that's what I remember. You know, a big part of that for people who maybe didn't know him in fantasy, they're like, who is this guy for, you know the, the Panthers who's coming out of nowhere. But last year or two years ago with the Cowboys, he also was a thousand yard rusher and he was splitting carries. So we'll see. I mean, obviously they still have Jalen Warren him. But when I saw this last night that the Steelers got Dowdell, I was just thinking like, well, okay, they won free agency. I wanted down.
A
They don't have a quarter. Who's handling maybe him. That's question.
F
I guess what Dan said is guaranteed who their quarterback is going to be.
A
Who's that? He said that this morning.
E
Yeah, he said put it in pen, right?
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
Pencil.
A
He said Aaron Rodgers is going to be the correct Dano. Any reason for you to just make guaranteed statements like that on television? Do you just feel that way or do you, do you actually know this?
B
No, I know absolutely nothing. It's just how I feel.
A
Okay.
E
You say everything with such conviction.
B
Pay attention to the off season though. They, this is an organization that has improved their football team. Aaron played good football last year. They hired the head coach that for the majority of Aaron's career that was his head coach and they trade for a big bodied possession receiver to win one on ones and have a massive catch radius. They did nothing to be attached to any other three other free agent quarterbacks, specifically Malik Willis. They've done nothing to potentially move up in the draft. I don't necessarily sit here and believe Ty Simpson's a ideal landing spot or Pittsburgh's an ideal landing spot for a player like Ty Simpson. He's not the big quintessential 6, 6 foot 4, 230 pound guy that's probably needed in the Pittsburgh area when it comes to their weather and having to play quarterback. And so I just sit there and I go, I, I think the Pittsburgh Steelers are probably too well run to just go blindfolded. And I'm not saying anything negative about Will Howard, but I think that would be a pretty significant roll of the dice to go just ahead with Will Howard. So I, I just believe Aaron's already kind of hinted to them like hey, if I feel like it's trending in the right direction.
A
You agree, Shregs.
G
I thought his interview with you guys was the most revealing thing we've had when he went through 1 to 70 on the roster and praised every player and talked about Ben Scaralnick's headphones for over 30 minutes. I, I look at that stuff and I'm like there's a lot of fondness there and there's a lot of love and it didn't seem like it was goodbye. Thank you Pittsburgh for the memories. It was. Let's talk about the dairy corporate competitor and how great the, the ice cream was this last summer and let's keep it rolling. Like that's just my assumption. I think the most revelatory stuff we got was on this very show.
A
Thank you.
G
In that interview that you had with him where it didn't feel like goodbye. But I understand if a Steelers fan is saying, well, then rip the band aid off, just tell us you're coming back. I get that also.
A
Yeah. And I think he was mentioning too that the Steelers didn't really tell him anything either. So they got to figure that whole thing out. I wonder what that contract would look like at point this stage. He was playing for what, 10 million a year? I think. Yeah, it took a discount. Yeah. I think 10 mil. I think there was other teams that potentially did have a little bit more on the platform whenever he was there. Because although some media, not all. Okay. We don't want to paint everybody in the same light. We do a lot of broad brush painting.
C
Sure.
A
People are saying nice stuff.
C
Yeah, for now. True.
D
But. But still always nice to have someone say something nice about you.
A
Yeah. You get a little twig, you're like, that's very kind of you. But nonetheless, some sports media folks do not like Aaron Rodgers, obviously. So they would like to watch him disappear and not have to talk about him ever again. So whenever he comes out and defends himself for anything and Aaron goes like, I don't like talking. And everybody goes, well, you're talking right now. So there's always going to be stuff that's held against him. But honestly, him taking a $10 million deal last year was better than what some of the other places I think he was going to be able to get paid or what he could have commanded from the Pittsburgh Steelers. He likes that fact that they had a team that could have won on a run, wants to win. That's just all from stuff that he has said publicly and to us. So I think it would be a good deal for the Steelers. He knows Mike McCarthy's system, obviously, inside and out. It's literally his system. You get the boys back out there, who knows what they're going to do about the field on acresher which they're replacing it. Yeah. Is that real?
E
Yes. They are replacing it with the same grass that the Eagles use at their stadium. That came out right after report cards.
A
Okay.
B
So Morgan Wong come concert there this summer.
A
You're going down June 5th. Morgan Wallen last night.
B
I can't remember it everything.
A
I think.
D
Oh, wow. You don't know the words, huh?
C
Yeah, it's embarrassing.
A
You can't remember.
F
Might come through every page.
C
Yeah, careful.
A
You're right. He might be going to the same concert, but they're fixing up the stadium. Mike McCarthy. What's that, Dan?
G
Look at me and shout out.
B
Drake just sitting across like a bunch of doors singing.
A
Morgan, this is great.
C
You guys look like brothers.
A
Yeah, you do. You look like we should. We should spell it free. F R E E agency. A, G, E, N, C, Y. And then that right there for frenzy should have been F R, I, E, N, D. That's you two right there.
G
Oh, man, that is good. There's always next year.
A
Maybe tomorrow too. Maybe Ben from Mystic could whip that. Yeah, guy's pretty tight talent. You know, this came together in like
B
three days, Mr. Connecticut.
A
Yeah, it's up there in Massachusetts. I do believe the company. Ben's a talent. You guys have been phenomenal. Will you stick around for another hour? You guys have this news.
B
I'm here, brother.
H
We're here.
G
Love it. Having the best time, dude.
A
Dan, how do you feel? Like your little sports performance went earlier at the Thunderdome.
B
I was pretty bummed that I didn't knock down the jumper sooner. Also, every jumper that I did a little bit in my runaround was short, so to do too long. Bummed about it. Love the pitch. I told you guys it was going to be a knee high fastball. Shout out to Gumpy for catching it the punch. I'm okay with it.
G
The putt was amazing.
B
And the putt, I haven't made a putt like that in 15 years. So I was happy it went down.
A
Boy. Proud of you, Daniel. Step up, baby. Daniel, you've done great work.
B
I'm going to go play right now in commercial break, actually.
A
Yeah, of course. It's impossible to get anything done or to think because Dan is out here as a 12 year old playing with all the games. And that's a good thing because that's what sports are supposed to be about. Exciting, magical times happening. Free agency Frenzy continues. Connor McGovern will join us next hour. He's just signed a A.
F
Throw another alley to shoot it.
A
We got 10, 9, J, 7.
F
Bang.
A
This guy sucks. Three is on the other side. Oh, my God. See you then. As you know, managing maintenance, repair and
H
operations is never easy.

Oh yeah. Welcome back to the Thunderdome, the home of the NFL's free agency frenzy. It's chaotic, it's magic, it's ball to a tee. It's dreams coming true. It's teams trying to win a Lombardi and it's players who have worked their entire lives for a moment to change the trajectory of their family tree and for generations to come. They earn these bags over the next couple days for playing a sport that they've loved since they were very young. We're so incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about it and celebrate these games guys and everything that they've accomplished in their lives. The talkative tip was here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. 1/2 of the Hammer Cowboys AP tone is here. How do you feel about where the Steelers sit right now?
E
I feel feel really, really good.
A
Got no quarterback.
E
Good point that everyone does say that and that is correct. But with moves yesterday, Jamel Dean, great cornerback, Michael Pittman, solid wide receiver, needed that. And then Rico Dial in the backfield with Jaylen Warren, I feel really good about it.
A
Yinzer is trying to say that dude's name is going to be fantastic forever. Nine year NFL vet Darius J. Butler is here.
F
Yes sir.
A
It's been a quiet day two of this free agency frenzy. Do you think people are potentially utilizing the one hour conversation that has been added into the repertoire for teams before they sign a free agent? Is that for day two signings? Day one? Hard to schedule an hour convo because somebody else might make a better offer and not have it. Day two? Maybe they're talking to these guys. They get five conversations with free agents. One hour at max. This has never happened before. This is the first year. Is that when this is happening? I wonder?
F
I don't know. I don't think so. Based on the people, you think they
A
don't want to waste time?
F
Based on the people we've talked to and as a player, I know when you go past that first day it sucks. It gets real tense just like when you're sitting there on your draft night and you're expected to go in a few different slots. So I'm supposed to go between 15 and 25. And then you get kind of the 23 you're not getting, getting those calls that you wanted. It's kind of like that for the free agents that are still out there. But hopefully we get some news pretty soon here with some big names.
A
Yeah, we do. We do got some big names. Big guys at least. Maybe not big names. Offensive lineman Braden Smith has reached an agreement with the Houston Texans on a two year, $25 million deal, including 13 and a half million fully guaranteed per his agent, Michael Parrott. He's not a parrot. He comes up with the thoughts. He doesn't echo him. He's from Priority Sports. Okay, so Braden Smith is heading to Houston. Let's head to the man that broke the news. Let's go to the senior NFL Insider for espn. Adam Schefter. What are the Colts doing willing this guy go to Houston?
H
Well, they let him go to Houston. The Houston Texans fortifying their offensive line. They've been in the market to do that. That's been a focus for them throughout the offseason. Now they get a deal done taking a place player from their division rival, Braden Smith. The Texans been busy today, short time ago. They also extend their kicker, Kaime Fairburn, making him the highest paid kicker in the league. So Fairburn gets a new deal. Braden Smith gets a new deal. The Houston Texans keeping busy today and they still have a Will Anderson extension on deck at some point here in the coming weeks. That deal I'm sure will get done. He's too good a player, too important to the franchise. We expect a Will Anderson extension in the weeks to come. That make him one of the highest paid players in the NFL.
A
Did I read that the Daniil Hunter didn't go through? Why is it too much money too guaranteed they're reworking.
H
It's not an issue. It's going to get done.
A
What is it though? What's that mean? I've never seen that before. This is like whenever old buddy Chris Paul was about to get traded from New Orleans to la and Stern, I believe, stopped in and said, nah, because they were running one of the teams at the time. Time they stopped the trade. Now everybody's obviously got upset about that. I don't think I've heard of a contract, especially of this magnitude, $40 million plus to this good of a player. A part of the Houston sack station down there all of a sudden get announced. It happens and then before the league year even starts, they're like, we don't know if that deal is allowed. Was there, like, stuff in there that's not allowed?
H
He sends it back. It was him and it was Dalton Schultz. And they just rework the language on it and it gets done. It's not going to be an issue.
A
What's the language? Like, I get a plane. I get a. Like, honestly, like, what could that possibly.
H
I really don't know exactly how it works that way because you don't see it very often. Okay. But they voided it, sent it back to a review to rewrite, and now it'll be sent in. It'll be the same terms and it'll get done, Pat.
A
So an NFL lawyer looked at that. He's not allowed to get a bass pro fishing. I mean, what is. What is this guy like? He wants a Ford F5. I don't even know if they make a fight. Ram truck, this guy. What are we doing here? This is not.
I
Not.
A
What would it be? Genuinely, I don't know. Somebody would have to be trying to sneak something, especially because this is a collectively bargained contract that is basically bare bones. This is what a contract is. You put the number, then you put how long it's going to be, then sorting out when the money's coming is a big part of the negotiation. Everything else is kind of standard operating procedure, I do believe, for the contracts. So somebody had to try. Somebody had to try to sneak something in there. Which I. That's why we found out about the clause in Kyler Murray's. Yes, because I was like, snuck in there. That's not normal. Because these contracts are kind of just pretty set up at this point with all the different union negotiations that have taken place. That's funny though. I would like to know what that was. Was it very odd? Was it Casario trying to get one?
C
Yeah, maybe something like, hey, if, you know, the tribal chief becomes the world champion, which he should, then will Anderson or, sorry, Daniel Hunter, you will have to kind of challenge him for the strap, actually.
A
Daniel, if. If our tribal chief does once again become undisputed world champion in the WWE Universe, Casario knows he might have to go join tribal chief. So Daniil Hunter actually picks up general management in the entire cause. Casario has bigger things to climb. Like, we need our tribal chief to continue to be champion and not lose that thing ever again and disappear because we know what happens. So that's what Casserole kind of sense.
D
Yeah. Hey, listen, I'm going to Be gone a lot on the road direction.
A
What could that have been? You're in these weeds a little bit more. As we had over to the free agency friend Z with Shregs and Orlovsky. Shregs. What could that be? Why would a deal get sent back by the league? Somebody's trying to get one over on somebody.
G
Well, there's a compliance office at the league that checks over all these contracts. And when you get an extension of that size, I'm sure there's some clause or there's something that the league looks over and says, okay, let's do this. Another run through. But to Adam's point, the player and the team want to be there. The league's not going to hold that up. It's just kind of procedural. And I wish I had a more concrete, concrete example, but this is the same stuff that goes through with any company when you go through the lawyers and they get their fee and we go from there.
A
Yeah, lawyers are the greatest.
E
I reached out to leave for comment.
A
You did?
E
I will.
A
Okay. Please do. I hope we get a statement. And the lawyers. We understand. We appreciate. Okay, we understand. You guys are super geniuses. Yeah, we. We acknowledge. We acknowledge you guys are super geniuses. Thank you so much. We need you. Shout to Sarah Decker, by the way, plum high school graduate, 05 class, badass lawyer. Sarah, we appreciate you a lot. Formerly Sarah Bronder, let's say with shrags real quick, 49ers are open to trading hall of Fame left tackle Trent Williams. What's this mean? That means any team can get a Trent Williams right now. What would that trade look like? And how real is this for The San Francisco 49ers and Trent Williams, that feels like a big, big deal. If you look at the record the Niners are with him playing and without him playing, boy, that. Without him playing one, not very happy, not very successful with him playing a lot of winning. He's a stud, obviously. What went wrong and who can get him?
G
You could argue he's still the best left tackle in the sport. And on any given day, he's the player that defensive ends fear the most. Like I said with A.J. brown and like we had with Max Crosby, John Lynch's phone line is open. Do you want the best tackle of his generation? Okay, well, what's it going to cost? Because his number right now and what he's expecting if he gets another contract is going to be exorbitant. So let's explore this. Let's see. But I don't think that's coming out from the 49ers. I think that's obviously a report from us in the media. And let's see if the 49ers do get calls. This is how this works. Usually he could be had if you have a certain number, if you have a certain offer. But make no mistake about it, the 49ers absolutely love Trent Williams. They want to get it done. The numbers, though, just like we have seen with so many star players in the last couple. Couple years, the numbers have to make sense.
A
They're not the only one. He's not the only one that's potentially on the trade block. Feels like everybody's potentially on the trade block all the time with the way these GMs talk. Some other big names in notable. Zoton.
E
Yeah, there was a lot last night, kind of after. I mean, the dust never really settled last night, but there it did a little bit. And Brian Thomas Jr. The wide receiver from the Jacksonville Jaguars, his name was out there a bit. I don't know how credible that is, but it was definitely out there. He was obviously, obviously incredible as a rookie and then had a bit of a down year last year, but still really good, especially when Jacoby Myers came over. And then of the Pittsburgh Steelers, linebacker Patrick Queen, I saw that all over my timeline last night, obviously, but his name has also been out there as well. Once again, these were out there. They reported. They weren't reported by Shefty or anybody like that, but it was out there. It's just, you know, something that could potentially be out there to watch.
A
Let's head into Shefty to hear. Hear what his thoughts are on. Is everybody tradable at this time? Like, because we are. Max Crosby, he's traded. He's not tradable. A.J. brown, he's potentially trade. He's not tradable. But if you make a good enough offer. Is everybody kind of available with the way these conversations go?
H
Okay, so we got Trent Williams, Patrick Queen, and who was the third guy? And Brian Thomas. Okay, let's address them one by one.
A
Okay.
H
Trent Williams, first of all, they have been discussing a new deal. And so on Saturday, when he wants a certain amount of money, the Niners say to him, hey, look, you think you're worth that money? And we can't reach this agreement. If you want to go find that from another team that will then give us back the value of like a first round draft pick because you want all this money, then we'll be willing to listen. But the 49ers aren't shopping him and he's not expected to be traded. Now, could something materialize? Sure, something always could. But I don't think that that's probably a realistic option. And it's more along the lines of them placating him, say go ahead and see if you could find somebody willing to pay you that and take care of them at the same time. That's a tough doubleheader to satisfy. As for Brian Thomas, I've been told that the Jaguars are not interested in trading him. They've denied it repeatedly. His name continues to come up in social media circles. Floated out there and again, for whatever reason, it doesn't go away. But every indication that I've gotten back is the Jaguars have no interest in moving on from Brian Thomas, despite all the speculation that's out there. And the Patrick Queen one is unusual because that also continues to float out there. The Pittsburgh Steelers say they're not interested in moving on from him. This could be maybe a money issue where he might be looking for more or maybe they want him to take a pay cut that he's unwilling to take right now. So that one we could pay attention to. But it doesn't sound like it's pressing at this moment.
A
Okay, we appreciate you doing the rundown. Let's talk about a man who just got a brand new deal to stand where he was. A guy who signed for 32 million guaranteed in a 52 million dollar total deal on Saturday to remain the center for the Buffalo Bills. Ladies and gentlemen, Penn state lad Connor McGovern. How are you Connor? You look strapping young lad, don't you? Geez Louise. Nice fresh. You look good in the tank.
I
Shave. We're good to go. Got a little tan going on. So we're all set right now.
A
Congrats on the new deal. How excited are you for this next generation, this next era of Buffalo Bills football as you head into a new stadium up there? Connor.
I
Oh, we can't wait. I'm going to say I don't think Josh wanted another center in front of him. He just want to stare at my ass all the time. So he's happy I'm still here. So we're good to go.
A
That's a good part of that. I mean, as long as he enjoys what's going on. I feel like that's a pretty crucial relationship. Let's talk about your guys offensive line. I believe AQ Shipley called you guys the number one offensive line in the NFL. You won the trenchy. I don't know if you know that. Congratulations. You did know that.
I
Thank you. Thank you. No, we did. We're big fans of AQ here.
A
Okay. That's huge for aq. Aq. AQ is going to really. I mean, He's. There's a FaceTime coming. Going. Huh?
C
Did you hear? They.
A
They know that I. I love my
I
Penn State center right there.
A
Oh, yeah. Obviously Remington award winner. Okay, so he had you as the best offensive line in ball. James Cook, obviously rushing leader. Josh Allen and MVP conversation every single year. How do you feel about the group up front? How do you feel about the boys and you coming back? What do you think that messaging is from Bean to the offense under a new Joe Brady head coach?
I
Beans made a forefront that rebuilding offense line like he didn't want to rebuild it, keeping four out of the five. David Edwards is going to New Orleans. I know he's going to do a great job down there. But the good thing is the past few years, like, we really haven't missed many games. Knock on wood. So we've grown a lot together. Together and get to continue this for the next few years. Have someone slide in left guard. I think we're in a great spot.
A
I just got sent a video of you buying a bunch of pizza. You like pizza, P. Are you Connor McGovern, you big paisana? Big pizza. Do you make these pizzas? What. What's the pizza story here in Buffalo?
I
So right now, I actually have some right here. So from my favorite spot here, Pizzeria Florian brought some in for the whole media today. But my thing is I make pizza for the guys. Guys. We do it a couple times throughout the year. I don't know how many times we've done over the last three years, but we're something like 16 and one when we do it. So we're very superstitious about these Pizza Fridays when I make them for the guys.
H
Hold on.
A
You're whipping the dough there. You're. You're doing all of this. How are you?
I
Oh, we do it. We do everything. Everything is made from scratch when I do it. Yeah, we're throwing it up. Making everything from scratch. Sauce, everything.
A
Your pies on?
I
Oh, yes. Everything.
A
Are you pies on, P. Are you Italian? Are you Italian? You're Italian?
I
Oh, no, no, no. Not at all. I have no Italian in me. I think I got the black hair, I got the mustache going. I do during season, but no Italian.
A
Yeah. Making pizza, flipping dough. Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of potential.
I
I'm just a big white guy that likes to Eat.
A
I like that. What's the topping? What's our favorite topping of. Of pizza?
I
So everyone loves the hot honey up here. But the biggest thing, like number one that goes within seconds guys are burning their hands for is I make a cheese steak cal. As soon as it comes out of the oven, they're going right after it.
A
Okay. So we're just folding that, that pizza in half right there. Right. And then are you clamping the ends too? Are you clamping the end so we're not getting cheese and sauce outside?
I
Exactly. Yeah. You don't want anything pouring out. You clamp it together, roll it up, send it in the oven.
A
Yeah, because it burns my hands, you see? And then it ruins the entire experience.
I
Yeah, exactly. You don't want to do that.
A
How many of these are you. But do you. Do you have a pizza oven like you just got 32 million guaranteed. Congratulations. Congratulations.
C
Yeah.
A
So are you getting like a commercial pizza oven right now? What are you doing? A dough maker.
I
So at my house and I. So I have like pizza steels, like steel plates built into my oven and so that gets it up. So my oven only gets like 500 degrees. Put those right in and it's like rocket hot with the steel plates. But we're turning out 30, 40 pizzas plus because we get over 30 people every time.
B
Jesus Christ.
I
Oh, it's no laughing at. We're like, I get home Friday, say 12 o', clock, I'm prepping for four hours. Guys come over. Cooking for four hours. It's an eight hour shift.
A
Okay, okay. So you do an eight hour shift so you can feed everybody their own individual pizza with the honey on top of it. I love that. Sounds like a great culture. That feels like a big piece of your guys's remedy. Tell me about the culture that has been placed up there in Buffalo. Because it feels like every time we get eyes on it, it looks awesome. I didn't know a guy who's worth 30 some million guaranteed at offensive line is whipping pies all day on Friday for the boys. That's a whole nother another level of commitment to camaraderie. But can you tell me about the culture up there and what you think people find when they get there?
I
Yeah, it's a very close knit team. Like doesn't matter. Offense, defense, special teams, we're all just very close. Like I've been a part of teams, whereas you got your clicks, your groups. Not here, it's entire team. Everyone loves hanging out with each other. It's almost like A college vibe, how close we are because there's not really much to do in Buffalo. You a lot of times you're snowed in. So these guys, everyone in the room is just very close with one another.
B
Another.
A
Can you hang out for like three minutes real quick and then we get back to you?
I
Of course.
A
Ladies and gentlemen, we have some massive news. Ladies and gentlemen, there has been some breaking news. The Raiders are sending quarterback Geno Smith and a 2026 seventh round pick to the New York jets in exchange for a 2026 sixth round pick. Per ESPN sources. Smith returns to the team and for winning, which he started his NFL career in 2013, he obviously knows the area. He knows the building, he knows the stripes. Does he know how to make that team a winner for the first time in long time? I guess we shall see. Now we were chit chatting a little bit earlier about hey, if he's not going to be on a roster, just cut him. You can always hang on and hope for a trade to take place. That has happened here. Let's head to the man who broke the news and kind of alluded to it earlier. Felt like he knew that what was coming coming down the pipe. I don't know if he knew it was a trade or not. Shefty. How did we get to a trade for Geno back to the Jets?
H
Okay, listen, here's the deal, Pat. First of all, we have more breaking news which we'll get to in a moment. But essentially the jets know that Gino's going to be released and it's a situation where they got into discussions with the Raiders. Jets have all these extra picks, so they're flipping picks. And now the jets get to lock in Geno Smith. Geno Smith also is going to restructure his contract with the Jets So they get them again on a deal where they'll be helped out. It won't be the existing contract. It's going to be restructured. That's done as well. So Geno Smith now will be returning to the Jets. One other piece of breaking news here. Romeo Dobbs is going to Connors Patriots. There we go, more breaking news. So the former packers wide receiver had a choice of places to go and has decided to go to the New England Patriots.
A
How many different places did he have? Like, can you give us like a rough estimate?
H
I think in the end he had a lot but he whittled it down and in the end there were a couple of teams left.
A
Okay, a couple of teams left. One of them being the Patriots. Patriots. We had heard and thought through Conor's existence. Maybe A.J. brown gets traded up there because of how close he is with Vrabel. Does this completely rule out the A.J. brown?
H
No, I don't think it rules it out, but certainly I think it. It diminishes the importance that a trade needs to happen. I think it gives the base, Patriots a little bit of flexibility. It adds another receiver to their room. They needed more help there. They're going to get Romeo Dobbs here now.
A
Super bowl last year. First year is Rabel head coach, second year Drake May at quarterback. How do you feel about the pickup of Dobbs? Obviously we watch very closely through Ty Schmidt's Green Bay packers season.
C
Yeah, very excited, especially because of how massive his head looks in the Guardian cap. I think it'll only look bigger in New England. It's great just because he's been a number one wide receiver. You know, with the Packer they had Watson for a little, but he was kind of in and out of injuries and sometimes it was really only Dobbs being Jordan Love's target. Him, I believe Mack Holland's still there. Kyle Williams will go into his second year. Very interesting to see what the contract is, but here in Shefty also say, hey, this doesn't rule out A.J. brown. That's huge. Just adding to the room though. They added to the pass rush and the edge with Draymond Jones yesterday. Then they did Elijah Vera Tucker for the O line and now they're doing a receiver. They're kind of checking off all the big issue boxes that the Patriots had towards the end of the season. Huge get bringing in Romeo.
A
I mean, that Guardian cap is gigantic, but the plays he makes are also special. Dobbs was a hell of a player for the Packers.
F
Yeah, he's so good. It's different types of wide receivers. We talked about the Mike Evans types where it doesn't matter how much space he creates, he's always open because of his size and his catch radius. Dobbs can make the tough catches, but. But he also creates space down after down. So that's the biggest things with wide receivers, the best ones that we see. They consistently create space. So when you got a quarterback and an offensive play caller Like Josh McDaniels, like, this is a great pairing for Romeo Dobbs in his next chapter in his career. I'm happy for him too, as a. I know he was dealing with some shit off the field a couple years ago, so I love to see this. Him getting his bag that he earned and obviously he's a great young player.
A
Yeah. Loving ball again. It's great to see him out there having fun. He's a real team talent. Joining us in the AFC East. Got a new problem. Connor McGovern. Who center for the Buffalo Bills. Thank you for dodge duck dip diving and dodging with us through some news breaks. We might have to do that again. Last question for you here from Darius J. Butler. We're all big fans, Connor. Thank you for hanging. Is that a big ass Bison behind you? It is. I like that.
I
Of course.
A
Okay. Debod has a question for you.
F
You got a new head coach now with Joe Brady. But you're obviously very familiar with him. I feel felt like once he took over play call in that run game. Took off. James Cook obviously led the league in rushing last year. What's your favorite part about Joe Brady's run game and what is your favorite run player? I remember that Steelers game. I feel like you guys ran duo 30 times in a row. So. Yeah. Kind of a two parter for me.
I
Yeah, no, he brought. I remember two years ago when he took over halfway through the year he just said we're getting back to the basics. We're going to establish the line of scrimmage up front front. And we took that as a challenge up front. And I think he did a great job just trusting us and talking with Aaron Cromer all the time like, hey, what do we like here? What runs are we like? And he's not afraid just to keep dialing up the same thing over and over as you saw in the Pittsburgh game. Running duo mid zone just over and over and over again and just taking opponents will to play. And that's what we feed off up front. But overall I'd say that duo play is my favorite. Just blocking back on a monster across from me. Just holding off and just letting it run front side.
C
Yeah.
A
And you did it 22. I forget it was.
E
I think it's more like 26 or 8.
A
Yeah. So that does feel good.
I
That felt like together we ran 20 some times that game and jeez, that was by far most fun game. And we're out two. Starting offensive lineman was by far the most fun.
A
We were having so much fun. Like Pop Warner, you know, made us go back to the staff's gone. What's that?
E
What?
A
New team? Yeah. New turf.
C
Bingo.
I
Thank you.
A
Yeah, absolutely. That's what you need. All right. We appreciate you joining us and bobbing through there. The Bison above your shoulder there. What do you know? Do you know the dimensions of that actual Bison. Do you know what the dimensions are that one, if you had to perspective.
I
I personally do not know.
E
What about the stadium ones?
I
Yeah, stadium ones are gonna be big. I know that everybody.
A
Have you had eyes on these things? Have you had eyes on these.
I
I'm not saying anything more than that. That just. I know.
A
Whoa. Secretive going on up there. Hey, that's how tight that camaraderie is. This guy's whipping pie for eight hours on Fridays for the boys.
C
How many Conor McGoverns are the bison?
A
Yeah, it's good call. Good question. How many pizzas?
I
O. I bet a bison could put away a lot of pizza. A lot.
A
Especially yours.
I
We would love to have one maybe put in the backyard and just feed a pizza. See how long.
A
Oh, you're living good up there. Bison in the backyard. 32 million guarantee for a center. You're the man. Ladies and gentlemen. Gentlemen, the center for the Buffalo bills, Connor McGoverner.
I
Yeah.
A
Thank you. This guy's making pizzas for eight hours for the boys. That's awesome. That's unbelievable. Culture on a Friday fast Friday. We get in, get out, everybody. Offensive lineman too. I mean just. Yeah, guys, wait till you see what I got tonight. We're adding a little extra salt to this damn dough. Steak and cheese whipping. You guys want to come out? A couple beers? Two, three o'.
B
Clock.
A
I'll be in the middle of trying to get this 14th batch going at that, that time. 30 pizzas. Crazy eight hours. Love everything about it. Romeo Dos's deal is expected to be four years, $70 million with the new England Patriots. Let's head over to the free agency friend zone with Orlovsky and Shreg Shregs. Big deal here for Dobbs on day two.
G
Sure is. And you know they don't have Stefan Diggs anymore. You insert Romeo Dobbs and that's going to be a big expectation for him to step. Step up. Look, Todd Downing is the wide receivers coach in New England. Long time NFL coach. I have to think Orlovsky, you were in a Todd Downey offense at one point. His best pal in coaching a guy that he was with, with the jets is a guy named Nathaniel Hackett. And you know him well, who was up there in Green Bay the last season watching Dobbs on a day to day, day basis, it was obviously Hackett. So there's absolutely someone who can vouch for him. Here's the deal with the Patriots. Everyone is still looking at A.J. brown as the this big fish. But in the meantime, over the, over the the nighttime they went and got Elijah Vera Tucker who went healthy is still a very good offensive guard and they pick up Romeo Dobbs who last year showed that he could be a mature NFL player and still be able to get it done. Darius Butler mentioned it earlier he was suspended for a game by Matt Lafleur and said hey just take some time man. Like figure out this is two years ago and it was like immaturity issues. You hear all these things about personal stuff in his life, whatever it was. And the fans went nuts in Green Bay saying what are we getting? And then he came back and had an outstanding back half of the season two years ago. And then last year was fantastic. I could not be happier for Romeo Dobbs. $70 million for a guy who people were wondering last year whether he was going to be in the NFL in two years based on oh this, that and whatever. Very cool signing for them. But I don't necessarily think they are done. I still think they are in the A.J. brown market.
A
Dana, what are your thoughts on Dobbs and what he can do for Drake
B
May totally changes their offense. I, I love Romeo Dob Romeo Dobbs like I love him. I, I think it's a huge loss for Green Bay or significant loss for Green Bay. Ty, you can speak to it as well. Just being a Packers fan I would tell you this like Dobbs is one of those quintessential one on one win guys.
A
Yep.
B
Like he wins all the time with his route running. Also if you watch him catch a football ball is more often then not caught away from his body. He's got strong hands which I think is a huge deal when it comes to pass catchers. And just from a New England perspective now I'm telling you this is a big deal. Think of the four young pieces they have on the perimeter. Okay, we'll take Dobbs young piece.
F
Boom.
B
K's on booty we saw just totally emerged last year. Kyle Williams who's going to be in his second year. There's Speedster and then Trayvon Henderson and so we're watching a team that surprised a lot of people last year go to Super Bowl. I love this move. I'm telling everybody he's healthy. He's a difference maker on the perimeter. He was the go to guy in Green Bay. This is not some second day free agency signing. This is a big deal. This is a big acquisition for that offense.
A
Okay, well Diva and everybody up here said this is the second day free agency signing. I mean that is actually what it is but it is four years, $70 million. That's exactly. Huge deal, con man. You're jacked up, brother.
C
Yeah, jacked up because especially what he said just about like, hey, one on one this guy's going to go. When we haven't had that. Stefon Diggs was that for sure? In some spots. But then we saw him in the super bowl. Really couldn't get open very much. Romeo Dobbs being that and just being a great red zone target. I know from watching, you know, Green Bay over the years, having him be that guy for Drake May, especially with how young he is, is huge.
F
A dependable guy too.
C
Yeah.
F
Everything, everything you guys are saying 1, 101 and I don't know why. When Dano said Patriots, I just thought like Dion Branch and I know like outside of the Patriots world, but like Dion Branch was like a go to guy. Very dependable guy. Huge moments. And when I see Romeo Dos, I kind of see glimpses of that. I can't wait to see what this next chapter will be like with him and Drake May.
A
Good for the Patriots, obviously.
C
Yeah, it is.
A
Yeah. We thought they're going to be a little bit more active yesterday. We thought maybe they'd be in for A.J. brown, maybe they'd be able to send something to Howie Roseman that was enough to get AJ Brown back with Vrabel, with Drake May and is going into his third year as maybe the best deep ball thrower in the NFL. So now he's got Dobbs. I assume they're not done at that particular position. And the Patriots made Super bowl in Brave's first year. We're 308 days in it is what he was saying or something like that. After they lost the super bowl, how do you feel about your team? We're 308 days into this. You could tell like that was going to be whatever the number number was. That was going to be like the mantra like, hey, this is where we are right now. We need to work our asses off. That's certainly going to help them. Congrats to him getting a bag too. Now let's talk about bags. You know, every once in a while there's a restructure of a deal. Whenever a trade happens to help the new team or to hurt the previous team, Geno Smith restructures his deal to help everything out. The Raiders will pay the bulk of it and the jets will take on Smith's contract at just over vet Minh, which is like 1.2 million, 1.3 million. So this is the Russell Wilson deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is what Kyler Murray deal is expected to be with whatever team he ends up going to. When you're getting paid by another team, you can go ahead and take the vet men to be on the roster and then let the money build the other spots. Jets not going to be paying a lot of money into Gino here. The jets have a lot of picks. Jets got money. Are the Jets a problem? Geno Smith is a New York Jet. Does that let the world know that this ain't gonna be the jets of last year where we had to fire the entire coaching staff but the head coach. This is gonna be a whole new era, a whole new time. And to come full circle you have to go back to the beginning.
C
That's true.
A
And Geno in his era there was waiting and now they're right back here. Let's head to the free agency fund zone. A man who is from New York shrags Gin Geno Smith vet men with the Jets. How do we feel about it? What are expectations?
G
Look, if you're looking for some like Jet fan like oh there's this great fond memories of the Geno Smith era like I don't know if the fans have that. They appreciate what Geno did his first two years starting as a rookie out of the great school West Virginia.
A
Thank you.
G
And then you know, a couple good years and then obviously had the incident in the locker room. It was all she wrote and then bounced team to team to team to team and then on the other end of it now becomes this like reliable veteran who can be a leader in the locker room. Dan and I did a Dolph Raiders Chargers Monday night game, met with Geno Smith for 40 minutes and interceptions aside, like this is a guy who has seen it all in the NFL and has been in a million systems and comes in and at the very least is your bridge quarterback to whatever the future is. Jets fans will roll their eyes at anything they do and that's just what it is. Look, it's not going to be Kyler Murray, it's not Malik Willis. But Gino could still play quarterback in this league. And if it was Gino Smith or Joe Flacco or Carson Wentz or whoever it was, it's not the future, it's the now. And it's just to hold it over. I will say this though about the jets still have a very good young offensive line so you're putting all the pieces in place and Gino Smith is a competent quarterback. I'm not giving it to an A plus grade by any means, but at $1.2 million, Guy could still throw a football and has seen a million, million things in his NFL career. He brings some wisdom and well, and now he'll be under Frank Reich's leadership.
B
He's an adult. They needed an adult.
G
Brady Cook started the last five games of their season.
B
And it's not that, you know, come on.
A
Brady cooking cooks. But go ahead, Daniel Shrapnel.
B
I think that. I think that they. They tried Justin Fields last year. It didn't go great. There were some injuries. I just think having the opportunity to bring Gino there, bring some. Some stability, bring an adult, like just bring a pro.
A
He.
B
That's. Gino may not be playing the best football of his career that he did three years ago. I still think he plays. Give them a chance to win games football. I agree with the offensive line. It would be a better situation. The ideal season for the jets is for them to win a couple games, be competitive, and then really strike in the 2027 draft. I know I keep saying that, but that's just the reality of the long.
G
And I would add this last year, the Raiders were very aggressive and Pete Carroll, and they brought Geno Smith in and the Seahawks, you know, obviously they moved on and they went with Sam Darnold. But if you go back and you read the media coverage of that entire situation, most people said, well, Seattle's making a major risk moving on from Geno Smith to go to Sam Darnold. So let's not just look at last year in that Gino obviously did not come. Not go well in Vegas. Let's take the bigger picture of this, realize who he's played for, where he has played, he has started, he has been a backup. And at $1.2 million, what are we talking about here? That is a. That is a fine addition to your team.
A
Frank Reich, O.C. you're not ready to get back into it over there in New York. What are the weapons? What are the New York Jets's weapons? Bree Hall. He's pumped.
C
G. Wilson Mitchell.
A
Bree hall is real pumpkin bumps.
G
He's watching other people's wallets, right?
A
Yeah. Yeah.
E
Jared played six games, I think, last year and was their leading receiver.
C
Yep.
A
Yeah.
G
The jets have. They have to add a lot.
A
Straight off camera right there, kind of dropping in. They have to add a lot. They got a lot of time. They got a lot of chance to figure it all out.
G
They lost, I think, by 30, the last four games of the season. 30 or more. I mean, it was a horrendous product. One of the worst products of football we've ever seen was the Jets. The final month of the season. And it's not fair to those fans. It's not. That is. That is just terrible, terrible thing to put on. You're selling season tickets. You're selling them. You're making them come to preseason games. You're asking them to do all this stuff. They know that. They know that it's unacceptable. So the hope is that they're charting a new path, and Gino's an adult and can help lead them that way.
A
What's his name? Dano.
B
Peter Scha.
A
That's what it sounded like, right?
E
My favorite thing for this week, he
A
was breaking it down right there. Shregs, I love that you do.
H
Said.
A
I'm going to say what it is because I want to let you know for the first time, I think maybe in this show's existence, I have gotten to a point where I've given up full hope in an entire franchise, and I don't like that. I like to give everybody hope because anything can happen in the NFL. You know, literally, you add one player, it changes an entire culture. The Colts go from being, like, fourth overall pick. No changes. Terrible culture. Daniel Jones comes in, we're eight and two. We're doing magic. Cincinnati Bengals before Joe Burrow kind of made the Super Bowl. You know, you're kind of in there. I. I always try to be as optimistic as possible for every single situation. When I saw Aaron Glenn get caught sleeping at the combine, I was like, man, the football gods hate these. They hate these. They hate them.
C
Seriously.
A
They. Because there's other people sleeping, but they're choosing not to show my. That. It's like, hey, just want you to know, jets are doing it again.
G
There's this.
A
There's this doing it again. Go ahead. Sh.
G
There's this Persona of, like, I'm the Jet fan. And I. And I mean, I'm saying this in general of, like, Jet fans. Of, like, oh, I'm just cursed and I can't believe. And you saw the meme with the kids saying, like, why don't I do, like, at the end of the day, like, it sucks. It sucks. It sucks being a Jet fan because they have this streak of. The longest streak of not, you know, making the playoffs. And every year you think maybe. And then this. And last offseason are real years. We're like, no, they're not going to. Like, there's very little hope. So you think with all these draft picks, with Muji now saying, hey, I can make some savvy moves here, maybe this is a glimmer. It's a glimmer. At least there's a. There's a glimmer. There is a window for that to actually happen. Five first round picks the next two years. There is a hope that at least we could pin ourselves on the future. If you are a Jet fan. But make no mistake, that is as loyal a fan base and who has been through the crap of the crap the last decade and a half and they deserve this.
A
They have a full line check. Change of first round picks coming up. I mean, that's an insane thought.
E
And I think they did that before and they got Sauce and they got Jermaine Johnson and they got Quinn and Williams, hall and Bree hall and Garrett Wilson. They've done that before and they hit on every single pick and they were still the Jets. And that's probably why jets fans probably feel the way they. How many interceptions they have this year on defense?
H
Yeah.
C
Zero training for Minko, though, Tone.
G
They didn't get the quarterback.
A
Quarterback.
G
You need a quarterback.
D
True.
B
But Zach Wilson.
G
Zach Wilson wasn't the guy. And nor was Christian Hackenberg and nor is Brady Cook.
B
You're right.
C
Hackenberg.
A
Hackenberg had a shot though. I want to let you know I. I lived the jets life there for a while with Aaron. I was so excited. I remember 11th with that flag.
C
Monday Night Football cursed.
A
Got a handheld jib hunter probably spanks that awesome.
G
I think Gary. Gary Vee said that was a top five sports moment of his life. Just a man running out with an American flag.
A
It was all there. Just the hype, the hard knocks. The entire off season, it was like, hey, we're doing it. Mike Greenberg, one of the most notable jets fans on earth, said he would cut. He would do it. He said, I'll cut it off.
D
Said he was going to say on air too, if they.
A
Yeah, if they were just a playoff game, I think is what he said. For the Aaron era, we were all bought in. I bought in.
F
Harps thought they were going to go
C
to the Super Bowl. That's how good they were. And keep in mind they won that game. They won that game.
I
Turned.
C
Yeah.
A
Xavier Gibson didn't win many after that. No, I mean it went real bad. And for jets fans, they said this one exactly how it's about. Four offensive plays is what we got with that entire hype machine. And then the next year was just an inevitable turnover from the Salah era. And then now Aaron Rodgers is going to be a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. Again, not going to be a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. We shall see. Geno Smith to the Jets, Tua to the Falcons. Where is Kyler going to go to? Is he going to get traded? Let's head inside the Schefter free agency frenzy zone. Shefty trade for Geno. Does that follow a trade? Is a Kyler trade coming as well now?
H
I don't know that a Kyler trade is coming. The contract is too prohibitive in this particular case. The Raiders and Jets restructured that that deal gets done. The Raiders will pay the bulk of the contract. The jets will carry just over veteran minimum. And it felt like Gino was just destined to wind up in New York. So you're starting to see the quarterback dominoes fit together now, right? How many chairs are there left, logically for Kyler Murray? A lot of teams would have interest, but what would be an interesting, compelling chair? Minnesota. So it's just the logical fit that's out there there for when the Arizona Cardinals ultimately release Kyler Murray, which is expected to happen as early as tomorrow, 4pm Eastern. But again, you see Tua go to Atlanta. You see Gino go to New York. The teams are filling in their quarterback blanks right now. Daniel Jones is going to be staying in Indianapolis on the transition tag. We'll see if they get the tag and the deal worked out. He's not going anywhere. Pat, where do you think he's going right now?
A
I don't know. Well, definitely for the Achilles and a broken leg. But if we know anything about Dan Jones, he's dog. He'll ace it. He'll get through it faster than anybody in history. When's he expected to be back playing well? And you're saying he's going to be a Colt? He's not going anywhere. We're in a good spot.
H
That's correct. And I believe he'll be ready for opening day. That's what their hope and expectation is.
A
We're back, baby.
C
Wow.
A
Oh, holy hell. Optimism levels high for the Indianapolis Colts all the of a sudden. Now we're going to have to make some hits on some other stuff. I appreciate the fact that the Colts and Alec Pierce wanted us to announce the deal. Very kind of them. Some trades took place as well, maybe some on the horizon. So Daniel Jones will be our quarterback. Two is down there. Gino's in New York. What other spots are available? What's everybody looking for other than the Vikings? Anywhere else? Raiders or Fernando?
H
The Raiders Will be Fernando again, you go through, and there are still a lot of strong quarterbacks out there. Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, who will be released tomorrow. There's a lot of options out there. And so it's just a question of where these guys. Carson Wentz is still out there as well. So these guys now are looking for essentially backup jobs. There aren't many start. Like, can you think of a starting job that's available right now? I can't.
G
Arizona.
B
Arizona.
C
Yeah. But they brought in Gardner.
H
They brought in Gardner and they have Jacoby Briss. Those are their two guys that they're going to ride with right now.
G
What's Cleveland doing?
H
Cleveland.
F
Cleveland.
H
Okay. Shador Sanders, Pro Bowler. They have desean Watson. And by the way, let me say this. There are people out there, and we'll see how it unfolds. But there are people out there who believe that Deshaun Watson could very well be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
F
He's getting paid.
A
He was. He's definitely getting paid. And I do appreciate the fact that he's like, you know what? I will give this thing a go again. That's paying me 230 million guaranteed. Let's go and try this out. Because at one point when Deshaun Watson was playing good football, boy, it was awesome football to watch. We were down there in the AFC south watching when he was with the Texans. There was a time where J.J. watt was walking off the field after the last game of the season, and he looks at. He looks at Deshaun Watson, he goes, so sorry we wasted one of your years, man. There was a time where this guy was being described as the Michael Jordan of football.
I
Yeah.
A
Now, obviously, a lot happened. Lot, lot, lot happened off the field. A lot happened on the field. It was a very long, dramatic, very serious and intense stuff that took place. So, mentally, was he ever going to be able to get back to being a quarterback? Especially whenever you're sitting on super satin sheets, the most satin sheets in the history of NFL with the fully $230 million guarantee. Will you ever be able to get back to that? We hadn't seen it. I mean, we hadn't seen it. We didn't expect it. That would have been the mental toughness level to be able to get back to being elite QB while getting paid as much as you have without playing for as long as you had. And with all the work that it takes, especially transit going to a different. It's like, I thought that was going to be tough to see him play football after he took that. That long off. But maybe he's hit a point life one last go here, one last time to lead a team. And the Cleveland Browns are a place that do not have a setup quarterback. So maybe he is able to rewrite the end of his football story, his football life. And maybe that happens with the Cleveland Bronze. Maybe.
F
I don't see it.
A
I don't see it either.
F
I don't see it happen. You know, wish him the best. But it's. It's Shador time in there. You seen him with Todd mocking a couple times already. We'll see where go. But you know where I'm at.
A
Yeah, Bro. Not even in the conversation.
C
No.
A
I haven't seen a photo of him on the Internet either. Todd Monkin actually said to Shador, we saw it on one of the vlogs, whether it was Cleveland Browns or Shador's vlog, where he said, hey, I was trying to draft you. Hey, what happened there?
C
What's that about?
A
I was the one that wanted you in Baltimore. We'll have to talk about that someday. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely, man. Appreciate you, dude. Appreciate you, dude. But I think in that brief interaction, I think we saw that Todd was interested in Shador. Shador has this aura about him to be leading guy. Shador's teams did have success. Now a lot of people point at his numbers and say, hey, okay, let's not do it. He's a lead guy.
D
Yeah.
A
And maybe if he gets an offense, he has the chance to do it. But if Deshaun Watson's the start of quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that would be a storyline. If Dylan Gabriel was the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that would be a storyline. If Shador Sanders was the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that'd be the leading storyline for everybody as we see how it goes. And the Cleveland Browns haven't won in forever. Forever. And then when they did win, they kicked quarterback out of town.
I
Yeah.
A
So it's like, I don't know. With Cleveland, it's just like New York. The longer we do this job and we watch, watch things just continue to happen and unfold, you do kind of lose a little hope for some places.
F
Who turns it around first, New York or Cleveland?
D
Cleveland.
E
New York.
D
If Todd Monken is wearing the jacket and jeans on the sidelines when he's coaching, they'll win 12 games this year.
A
I agree.
D
I don't know if that if he
A
will walk in the building. There's people getting coffee in the back we see head coaches walk in the buildings and they shut it all down. They're clapping for them. They're doing the whole thing. Todd Monkin walked in, baggy jeans, overcoat, buttoned on, brown shirt, his own coffee, with a briefcase. Just walked in. Hey, how's this guy?
G
Who the hell is this guy?
C
Hey, sorry we didn't get everybody out here for you.
A
Sorry we didn't do the whole thing. He walks in, walks around. It's like, yes, we love this guy. Then he looked out at the practice field. They pan the camera. It's like gray shot, you know, just
C
absolute guys crying on the field.
A
Certainly football fields out there, but just not a good view. It's the weather. It's the weather where it's at. It's like, yeah. He's like, yeah, this is where I want to be. I'm like, I love this guy. I think I like Todd Monkin a lot.
C
Yeah.
A
Okay, so I believe in the Browns more than I believe in. That's what I'm gonna say. Okay, how about you? Let's go to the free agency fun zone. Before you give your answer, Shrigs, jets or Browns or Lovsky? Jets or Browns? Who wins two playoff games first?
E
Two.
G
Two is asking a lot. I was gonna say who can get to the back to the playoffs first? I would think Cleveland's in a lot better position based on the talent on their roster in their draft class last year. You look at Schwinger and what he did and obviously the running backs that they got in that draft and Harold Fannin, I am a shador believer in that he could compete for this job at the very least and that, you know, you look at the team and then of course Miles Garrett's like, it's a better roster right now. Cleveland is by far a better roster than the Jets. Question is, is there an upside and do the jets now have this complete blank canvas that if they can draft the right players, they could have an even better draft class than what the Browns did last year. And really sore.
B
I I'll go with the jets by far better roster.
G
I would think I would take Cleveland's roster over.
B
I mean F basically five new starting offense.
G
That's the letters N A not applicable right now.
B
Still a brand new five offensive lineman. The perimeter weapons are not a probably the worst skill group in the NFL. And Joku's not Gary Judy, free agent. Judy's a good player, but that's really all fan. Fanon was great last year was it's young and promising. Judkins did the jets agree that. That's a good point. The jets with their offensive line, Breeze, Hall, Garrett, Wilson, Mason, Taylor, all those picks in the future. I think there's a lot of ammunition for the garage. They gotta hit quarterback next year.
G
We're arguing about what could be the 31st and 32nd roster.
A
That's a good point. Every year it seems like it's that way, which is why we feel bad for their fans. But we respect. Respect their fans. Their fans are who we would send out in a representation of loyalty to program. Especially those jets ones. I lived that for two years. Yeah, right. The Browns fans just feel like they're up for it now. They got a new stadium. It's going to be inside.
C
Yeah. And they have that sweet dog pound. Yeah.
A
Yeah. That should be pretty nasty.
E
Just so everyone knows, historically, the jets have not made the playoffs since 2010. And the Browns have one playoff win always against the Steelers since 1990.
A
94.
E
So either of them getting the two is probably not happening.
A
Cream of the. But that, that, that what I just. The situation I laid out, that I was trying to get people to pick. They are the cream of the poop. They are seemingly the cream of the poop right there on the top. You're saying what if they never win two playoff. That we can't live in that world where they're never going to win two playoffs. Look at the Lions. Look at what the Lions did.
C
And they've only won two, too.
A
Well, we were the one seed one year, so we had a bye week. So that counts as another playoff win. Loser mentality. They might never go back. Yeah. And then Shrager called it out. Say, hey, hope you enjoyed that. This shit's over. And then it was.
G
It was.
A
It was Pacheco maybe and Gibbs getting back together today could certainly be something. But you're saying Pet Sing. What's that, pal?
F
The egg.
A
Yeah, the guy. Guy, he needs to not stand next to mcdc the first time I see him again. I agree. They need to be separated. Just strictly because what my brain does when I'm speaking in this mic, whenever I think of people, I need those photos up with him. Yeah. I need to see more of those. That's what I need for my brain. And I have faith in him. I think he's going to do well. Strictly because I believe in mcdc.
G
Yes.
A
Let's talk about some other sports that are happening before we wrap up here on this day two of the free agency frenzy, which hasn't really been that French.
D
No really, it hasn't.
A
Day two, not really frantic. Kind of boring.
E
Day one was too frantic.
A
Yeah, a lot of franticness. A lot of chaos in day one. Maybe something will end here and if it does, we'll obviously get to a shefty tweet. But there's other sports that are happening that we certainly need to talk about. Let's talk about a marathon. I don't know if you guys saw this. An American stole a marathon at the end because of grit, passion and conditioning. My man.
C
I mean, I thought we had the tweet.
A
My man. He's a math teacher, a coach at the very end. Steals this thing for the United States of America. This absolute stallion, this absolute legend, Nathan Martin, comes through in a huge way to win for the United States of America for himself, and in doing so showcases a grit and a resolve that we can all be inspired by. That's 26 miles in sprinting. That's 26 miles in legend. Usually people hit that thing and Don, that guy said, I'm hit that at a different time. Let's go get this thing. Walks him. I love everything about that.
F
Yeah, I mean, that's tough on the other dude, especially face planting too at the end there. But hey, grit. And John, we talk about finishing defending every plate blade of grass when you're in the NFL. And this is, I mean, this is an unbelievable finish.
C
See ya.
A
The NBA has canceled. Magic City night down. What the hell happened? The NBA canceled it. That's just something that, that, that is existing in the NBA world. And then World Baseball Classic. The United States of America have another huge game tonight against the Pisons as we look to go undefeated in pool play. What should we keep an eye on tonight, Ty, as there is massive news brewing right now?
D
Yeah, the big thing will be Nolan McLean here, who is. Last year was his first year in the bigs with the Mets. So he's young, but he's got electric stuff. And then I'm very interested to see what the lineup will be like because I think once we get through pool play and then we get into the knockout round, you're gonna have to kind of mix and match and certain guys aren't going to be getting in bats anymore.
A
Tone, what are some bets that we need to look at here for these? The home run ones have been doing pretty well for us out here on DraftKings.
E
They have. It's just you gotta, you gotta find out who is gonna be that home run of the night. Obviously last night it was Tony, Tony's boy, Roman Aileen Anthony and then Aaron Judge. And as far as tonight goes, you know the Italians are a good squad. They've been playing good ball. USA has not covered the last two games. Now it was -9 and a half and -3 and a half in that situation. So we will see -5 and a half tonight. But whoever you think is going to be the hot bat tonight, you can
G
lay it on there.
A
Okay, let's definitely do that. I can't wait to watch United States of America continue to win. We appreciate you boys. Shout out to Nathan Martin, that marathon winner for America. America doing that. Yeah.
E
Yeah.
A
There was some early surfacing of reporting about Daniel Jones maybe having a deal done. Let's go to Adam Schefter. A quick wrap up on the day and is Daniel Jones locked in? What's going on here?
H
We're waiting to see. Again, there have been talks going on with the Colts, but there was a report that he has a deal done. I was told in no uncertain terms. He quote that I got back was completely wrong. Again, we'll see how it all shakes out.
A
Who had the report says again he. That was from. The report's been deleted. We have been the. The Internet has been corrected. But I certainly got excited for that. Okay, so we have nothing on that. Anything on any other deals that we might want to keep an eye out for the next couple hours on this day to a free agency frenzy that you've been working on.
H
Well, we're still waiting on Trey Hendrickson. He's the biggest free agent name out there. The best player available. A pass rusher in this market that obviously people are interested in at this point in time. We'll see if he can get a deal done somewhere. Obviously you want to have a deal done in free agency the first day. That seems to be where the most dollars are when you get into the second day. Not as ideal. And the longer you wait, the less ideal it is. Hopefully for everybody's sake. Trey Hendrickson gets the deal done soon. We'll see if he is. He's been talking to a bunch of teams that's out there. But again, the big headlines while we've been on the show. Romeo Dobbs winds up in New England with the Patriots. Patriots on a four year deal worth over $70 million. There are incentives in there that could get it up to maybe $80 worth. Up to 80, we'll see. But the Patriots land a big time wide receiver. That's good for them. And of course the trade. Geno Smith. Remember he played his first Four years of his career in New York with the Jets. He said, you know, famously, I wrote them, they didn't write back. Well, the jets have now written back. Letter got lost in the mail but is finally recirculating. And Geno Smith has resurfaced. He's going to return to the jets and the jets will obviously have Geno Smith this year. He's agreed to a restructured contract. It's just a pick flop. So essentially the jets get him for next to nothing. Geno Smith comes back to New York. It's a full circle moment in his NFL career. And the jets still are loaded with all these other draft picks in the upcoming two drafts. So good for them. Another big trade and they've been wheeling and dealing with a lot of these players. Minka, Fitzpatrick, astronomy yesterday and today Geno
A
Smith Raiders move up 11 spots in that pick swap. Geno Smith restructures and the jets don't have to pick up much of the contract other than vet Min Shefty. We appreciate the hell out of you, man.
H
Thank you for having me. It was an honor.
A
Thank you for doing this. Let's go over to the free agency fun zone. Shrags Orlovsky. Big takeaways of day one, day two of Free Agency Frenzy. We'll start with you, Shregs.
G
32 teams and their families believe there's a chance right now. And I look at the teams in Tennessee and I look at the teams in Las Vegas and I look at these newborn New York Giants franchise and those fan bases and I think, okay, it's just the first two days of free agency. Nothing is won there. But I look back to last year and I think Boston Conner started off the show saying this. Patriots and Seahawks were two of the biggest spenders in the first two days of free agency last year and we saw them playing for a Super Bowl. If you're a fan of the Raiders, if you're a fan of the Titans, if you're a fan of the Bengals who spent on defense. Defense. If you're a fan of a team like the Carolina Panthers or the New York Giants, it's all right to enjoy this. It's all right to cherish the moment when your team is in the headlines and you're actually spending the money you have to spend. All those teams got better over the last two days and I'm fired up to see what we could do. And we actually talk about the NFL Draft, OTAs training camp and then you know, my favorite time of the season, the NFL kickoff In September.
A
Let's go, let's go. We're already in it. How about you, Dano? Yeah.
B
I look at the. The top of the food chain and the bottom of the food chain. I think the, the bottom of the food chain with some of the, the teams that. With second year quarterbacks and trying to set them up for that huge jump. Tennessee, I love what they did over the past two days. It was complete built a defense. And the offensive piece is Daniel Bellinger, Wanda Robinson. So that what New York did for Jackson Dart again, some defensive pieces, but also some of the additions on the offensive side of the football. Isaiah likely Theo Johnson together at the tight end group. Tyler Schuck in New Orleans. Getting David Edwards at the guard and then Travis Etienne. That's the bottom of the food chain. Then flip it to the top of the food chain. I love what Baltimore did with Max Crosby. I can't overstate it enough. He's an absolute destructive force. The Buffalo Bills trading for DJ Moore. Like let's, let's continue to try and trace or chase down this trophy. The San Francisco 49ers. Mike Evans. We're close. Let's go get a difference maker in the Rams. The Rams were arguably the second best team in football last year and they made some massive moves. So I look at the teams realizing how close they are. Go jump, be aggressive. And the teams with these younger quarterbacks that have struggled recently. Like, let's try to put together a good football team around a young quarterback and see how good that young guy really is.
A
Great work in there, you two.
G
I would just say this, it's been, it's been a real pleasure for us. We're not gonna do a whole monologue or soliloquy, but Dan and I were talking. We've. And Adam's included in this as he's on the phone walking around like a madman in his little box. It means a lot you invited us out here, guys and we had such a blast. And being in this little world of yours, it is truly, truly an honor and we had such a pleasure and thank you for inviting us.
A
No, thank you guys for coming. We love you guys. Obviously, you've contributed to our show and so many different ways. Having a chance you be out here and legitimize us on this glorious free agency frenzy time. We are incredibly thankful. Why don't you come out here? Why don't you guys come out here and join us? Actually, boys, I thought you did a great work. Scott on the jib. Way to go, brother. We appreciate that if you want to knock on the door for Schefter to come join us too, that'd be okay. I don't know if he'll be able to. Boys, in the back, behind the glass. We don't have a camera on you, but good work. Good work, boys. Graphic design, boys, go work out there. ZD Zito Production. Good work out there, Bill. Good work sniping these photos. Shefty's on the phone. Before we get out of here, D Buck, great work. Before we get out of here, we usually like to say little words of encouragement, you know, and I think the right thing to say is we can't thank you all enough for allowing us to do this for a living. But also allowing us to do this on such a magnificent scale. The fact that you guys traveled out here to help us out and to help this league announce big deals and dreams coming true. We are so eternally grateful for that. So thank you for giving us a chance and not mocking us. To espn. Thank you for not counter programming us this year. We appreciate the opportunity to be able to do this to the NFL. Thank you for being awesome. To the players, congratulations on the deals. And to the boys. Hell yeah, bro.
C
Hell yeah, you.
A
We're back tomorrow. Let's enjoy the hell out of this life. Hey, be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. We're in this thing together. Team on me. As Dano le. Team on me.
D
He's not a team guy.
E
No, he's not.
A
Okay, Dano, anything you say to the team.
B
Team on three.
A
One, two, three. Not yet, though. We still got 20, 20 seconds. Team on me. Team on me.
B
Hey, boys. We over me?
I
Hell yeah.
B
When we're together, we're great. When we're alone, we need each other. Team on three. You got it.

Free Agency Frenzy Day 2 LIVE From The ThunderDome
Date: March 10, 2026
Guests: Adam Schefter, Dan Orlovsky, Peter Schrager, Travis Kelce, Connor McGovern, Darius Butler
This Thunderdome special of The Pat McAfee Show offered wall-to-wall NFL free agency coverage on the second day of the 2026 league year. Pat and the boys were joined by ESPN heavyweights (Schefter, Schrager, Orlovsky) and notable players like Travis Kelce and new Buffalo Bills signee Connor McGovern. The show delivered a blend of insider information, signature humor, and deep NFL analysis, reacting to big contracts, trades, ongoing quarterback drama, and live breaking news throughout its marathon runtime.
The energy was classic McAfee: relentless, irreverent, and informative, pivoting between wild banter, real scouting discussion, and genuine excitement for athletes cashing generational checks.
"Dudes getting rich. Team seeking fits, the grandma and the glitz of the big money pit. ... Free agency, friends. Dreaming with your spending massive cash." (00:02)
“You can’t win a Super Bowl in March—well, actually, Seattle Seahawks certainly helped.” (01:18)
“Raiders went from +4000 to +2200. … All that money spent means something.” (01:53 – Tone Digs)
Major themes:
“They’re holding out hope that maybe some team gets desperate and gives them a 5th round pick. Is it going to happen? No. But they’ll hold him until the last possible minute.” (10:30-11:11)
“Jets not going to be paying a lot of money into Geno here. The Jets have a lot of picks. Jets got money. … This ain't gonna be the Jets of last year.” (144:24)
“We all assume he’s going to Minnesota, but they’re waiting for Cardinals to release him.” (12:29-12:38)
“Natural fit, though ... They just want the quarterback to play point guard and allow the offense [and] play-caller to star. ... I think Kyler is such a dynamic athlete, he naturally wants to be the star.” (14:29)
“If we know anything about Dan Jones, he's dog. He'll ace it.” (153:12)
“I’m still in love with this game. ... My best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs and running this thing back with Pat Mahomes and Coach Reid.” (31:45)
“She has…We share the same love for what we do...She keeps going to the table, keeps finding new things to write, new melodies...That’s motivating for anybody to see, let alone, you know, my fiancée.” (33:51)
“We know we got the nucleus in Kansas City...we’re never out of this thing. But we know the division’s getting pretty competitive—that’s only gonna make us better.” (36:04)
“I think they finally realized this year, ‘We can’t just rely on Patrick all the time to do wild things and bail us out. Kenneth Walker has to carry the football. They’ve got to get more balanced.’” (39:29)
“Totally changes their offense. ... He was the go-to guy in Green Bay. Not some second-day free agency signing; this is a big deal.” —Dan Orlovsky (140:39)
Opening hype/rap:
"Dudes getting rich. Team seeking fits... Free agency, friends. Dreaming with your spending massive cash." (00:02 – Pat)
On Eagles’ fan panic:
"I got Eagles fans all over my timeline...Calm down. Deep breath. March and April is what we call Howe season. ... Trust your GM." (03:31 – Peter Schrager)
On high spending for a center:
“If he ends up being the glue that pulls together an offensive line that can protect Fernando Mendoza...it's worth it.” (20:09 – Pat)
On Chiefs’ mindset:
"We hear it all, though." (36:29 – Kelce)
Pat on Daniel Jones:
"If we know anything about Dan Jones, he's dog. He'll ace it." (153:12)
Adam Schefter on Kyler Murray hold-up:
“They're holding on to him until then and then they’ll release him. ... They don't feel like they owe Kyler Murray anything.” (11:11)
Peter Schrager on “crappy team tax”
“Linderbaum wasn’t leaving Baltimore for a million dollars more...You have to pay more. That’s what they did.” (23:41)
Travis Kelce on Taylor Swift as motivation:
“She has. ... Knowing that I’m going through something where I’m trying to figure out exactly what the future holds...That definitely motivates me to say, you know what? I’m not done either.” (33:51)
Schefter (on Jets QB move):
"Jets not going to be paying a lot of money into Geno here. ... This ain't gonna be the Jets of last year." (144:24)
Dan Orlovsky, on Romeo Doubs to Patriots:
"Totally changes their offense. … This not some second day free agency signing, this is a big deal.” (140:39)
Peter Schrager:
“It’s all right to enjoy this...when your team is in the headlines and you’re spending the money. Last year, Patriots and Seahawks were two of the top spenders and we saw them playing for a Super Bowl.” (168:07)
