Pat McAfee
Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome, on this March Madness Eve, March 18, 2026. This program begins now. Sports are the greatest, and I am so incredibly lucky that last night I got a chance to enjoy, I'll say it, the greatest sporting environment that I've ever been a part of as a fan. Okay? Now, obviously, I've gone to West Virginia games since retiring. I've gotten a chance to be a part of college game day. I'm not really in a crowd. I'm up there on a st. So I get a chance to feel it. But as part of being at an event, at a game, at a something in a crowd, Last night was the greatest thing I've ever experienced in my life. Congratulations to a world baseball class.
Coach K
Congrats.
Pat McAfee
Great work. And also congratulations to that Venezuelan baseball team, and I'll tell you, learned a lot about Venezuela last year.
Coach K
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I learned a lot about Venezuela. It is not the size of Rhode Island.
Con Man
No, no, no, it's not.
Pat McAfee
No. It's big. It is big. 32 million people. Okay. In Venezuela. And I want to let you know I think they might be the greatest competitors that I've ever kind of encountered. You're talking about an ability to be passionate shit talk while also not being, like, toxic or trying to fight you at the same time. It was an incredible environment. Ponche Ponche Paunche is gonna be ringing through my ears until the day that I die. Two strikes on the board for an American in a batter's box. Well, that means the entire stadium, which was located in the United States of America.
AJ Hawk
Sure.
Con Man
Really?
Pat McAfee
I mean, that was 10 to 1. That was 10 to 1. Maybe 20 to 1 in certain parts of that entire thing. Venezuela to America. And then the boys in the dugout are leading us things. So if it's 0212, full count, whatever it is, if there's two strikes on the board for the Americans, that entire place was chanting ponchi. I had never seen that in baseball. I didn't know we had one of those. That had to be like whenever somebody's at a free throw line, you know, down in college hoofs, which we're obviously about to talk about for the next couple weeks. It's like watching the pitcher have to deal with that, watching the hitter have to deal with that. And then the strikeout was just an immediate full chaos, pandemonium. And there was a lot of them. America only got three hits.
Con Man
Oh, geez.
Pat McAfee
America only got three hits last night. So I'll tell You. Whenever I started seeing two strikes on the board, I knew what was coming. And I thought that I was at least a representative of the United States of America at the time. Had American. American flag tank top and American hat on. And obviously had cowboy boots on. I mean, I was doing the America last blue jeans as much. As much. Actually, these exact blue jeans. Okay. Might have slept here last night because of how late we got here. Whatever the case is, I thought I was representing. So as soon as I saw two strikes, I said, no punching, no punching. So then, obviously, everybody around us started growing louder. I told Miguel Cabrera before the game it was an honor to meet him. Watch his team just absolutely demolish baseballs in bp. The Contreras brothers, okay, they assault baseballs.
AJ Hawk
Whoa.
Pat McAfee
They are violent with baseballs. Miguel Cabrera, though, comes on over, and I get a chance to meet him. I go, miguel, hey, you're a legend. Thanks for everything you've done for a sport. Don't eat any of your shit tonight, okay? America needs to win this one. We need this one. He goes, we need. We need to win this one, too.
Con Man
You're telling me, boy.
Pat McAfee
Valid. Well, good luck, sir. Everybody was cool. Everybody was friendly. Everybody was very, very, very competitive, though, which is why I think that was a magical moment last night. Obviously not just for base, for all the sports. And congratulations to Venezuela getting all the ponches. Yeah, just ponche, ponche, ponche. Home run. Che Hitche leading shway. Suarez Shay doing his thing. I mean, there was just so many Shays out there. And it was a blast to Team usa. You know, the bats never got cracking.
Ty
No, they didn't.
Pat McAfee
That's just kind of what happens. But as soon as you got an entire stadium saying ponche to you, it's hard not to probably lock down on you, especially with the way they were pitching last night. And then the defense is outrageous. Congratulations, Team usa. We appreciate the run. Oh, yeah, that was fun. Baseball was fun. Last night was incredible, though. I will say that was a really good time. What a great group. And shout to Earnest. Obviously, he and I were a part of the recruiting of Logan Webb on Earnest bus outside the Ryman Auditorium. Suarez gave an interview afterwards. Like, our team's a fan. Like we are. This is the tightest we've ever been. I'll tell you what. Felt like the team and the stadium were all just kind of in that thing together. You did feel like you were in a buzzsaw, even though it was in the United States of America. But shout out to baseball for Letting us be a part of that at all. And thank you to baseball for carrying for the last couple of weeks as we've been looking for things to really care about. I fell in love with that Team usa. There were some decisions that were made last night. People are going to attack D Row. There is a lack of hitting that has happened that people are going to attack other people on staff. But there was a magical run here that we had with Team USA and wbc. We can't thank you enough for being fantastic. And once again, Venezuela, I didn't know you guys could do what you were doing. It was a lot of bueno, I think, is what I'm saying here. Yeah. Hey, muchos gracias, you know. And then when Bryce Harper hits that two run man in the eighth, it is. That's the most jubilation I've ever felt in a public setting. Okay. Just in a public setting. The most jubilation I've ever felt. Just because the amount of pawn chase. Okay, that had been happening all around me. Okay. The amount of pawn chase. And we're just right there to the left. So I. I mean, like, literally, probably three. Probably right here is where I'm sitting.
Coach K
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Right here is where I'm sitting. So that bat flip comes right at us. Basically, I'm up on my seat, USA chant, going absolutely bananas. I believe this is from Foxy's View here. So you catch a tail end of the bat flip, which is historic. I mean, go ahead and throw that shit right there's Conor going in. Yeah, yeah. Conor's losing his mind. We gotta. Yeah. I mean, there'd be the Venezuelans behind me talking shit. That guy with the slick back hair, his name's Chris. He was fantastic. He seemingly was a ginger from Venezuela. Had great Spanish accent. Okay. That guy had a group team with him there. But yeah, we were going crazy, man. Standing up on a seat was. It was a. Yeah, yeah. Really felt like we were in it in eighth inning. Okay.
Ty
That's a big moment.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
We had a couple pops and we had not hit a ball yet. So, I mean, that was pure jubilation. And I didn't know baseball could do that. So my love story with baseball, I guess kind of begins with World Baseball Classic and I'll see him next, but
Con Man
World Baseball Classic, okay.
Pat McAfee
I'm not. A couple years, I'm not doing that. Everybody thinks I'm giving up on baseball. How could I after what I did? Like what I experienced last night. Yeah, right. I wish we could do a little bit More of that. Feels like we got to go watch games live. No. And also, I think we gotta get passports. Oh, I think we gotta go.
Ty
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Because I was in a Venezuelan game last night. It's like a Savannah Bananas, but real, real baseball, you know, it is. It was fantastic. Talk stables here at Boston, Connor at.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I mean, that's what I felt like in the stadium. Sick. And then we signed up to go there very late yesterday, you know, guarantee yesterday was when decision was actually made to kind of go mid show. Everybody kind of saw it happen. Didn't even think about America losing. Didn't even think about that.
Con Man
Not even on the radar.
Pat McAfee
Gotta go watch America win a world championship. What are we even talking about? Hey, down there. Don't think about the walk afterwards.
Ty
Sure.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ty
Not fun. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
It's pretty late. Vamos. Yeah. Ponche. Yeah. Fucking. I saw it. Yeah, we did the whole thing. Yeah. That's after the. We lose here. Yeah. Poncho. Yeah.
Coach K
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
That's really what it was the whole night. We had so much fun. Congrats to Venezuela. We tried to get Miguel Cabrera on today. We tried to get Suarez on today. The baseball guys right back into their training camp.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Even if America would have won last night, today, they're right back. Get your ass. Yeah.
Ty
Opening days about a week away.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Take that off. You're never wearing. And the silver medals. Oh, man, they were walking right towards us with their silver medals. And that thing was coming off. Couple of them kept it on. Not gonna say their names. Quick as off. Mason Miller, Pittsburgh kid. He got that thing on. And as soon as it got on, he got that thing off. Everybody else, though, was. Yeah, so he took that off right there. Everybody else was waiting to get to, like, near dugout before taking it off. And then wrapping it up. Couple people kept it on. Say, this is the greatest. This is the greatest. It's gonna be. We understood that for them. We're very happy for them, but none of the boys are gonna be able to ever celebrate this.
Coach K
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And I would like to let them know. You should. I think you did good for American baseball. And Venezuela is a tough. That's a tough outfit to be. Especially when they got a home game in Miami. Talks to Tablet boss Conrad Schmidt, con man. It was sweet last.
Con Man
Yeah, Venezuela is a good baseball team. I mean, we can just say they are. They are fantastic. But you mentioned the jubilation. That high of the eighth inning, Bryce Harper home run. Followed up with the ninth inning kind of rally by the Venezuelans. Yeah. The Ponche, but also the steel into second base. Me and Foxy were standing or sitting next to a guy and his son. And the son, I don't know, young kid. But once they scored this third run, he just. The waterworks start flowing and you forget, like, how kids who are just young fans of sports and baseball teams, like, how much it truly is live or die. Like, this kid was crying for the rest of the entire inning. And it stinks, obviously, as a team rooting for usa, but, like, that just shows you, you know, kind of the sports in a nutshell for some of these kids.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And not only kids. I think Suarez was crying.
Con Man
A bunch of these guys.
Pat McAfee
I think a lot of the guys were crying.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I mean, they were all crying as well. Like, the professional athletes are getting paid hundreds of millions of dollars to kind of play for their team. Yeah. I mean, Miguel Cabrera crying out there. He's coach. I don't know what they're getting paid for that to coach. Managing 20 bucks. I literally don't know what it is. It was like that. It was a real sense of pride you could feel from every person. Rocking Venezuelan shit last night. And baseball delivered. I wish we would have got some. Since 2018, no hitter in baseball has more. Go ahead. RBI in his seventh inning or later than you'll be.
Ty
You, Haniel.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, there it is. Sorry, dude. I'm trying. Ponche. I'm fucking there. I'm trying. Suarez, 54, he's always been clutch. He seemingly. I guess everybody knows he was going to get a hit there. Hits were at a very premium last night, and if America could have got more than three, that would have been cool for the experience as well. But I don't know if the Bryce Harper moment hits as hard. We never got a guy on second base. No, no, we never had a guy on second base. Airplane. Great defense, good pitching. But that Bryce Harper moment, I think hit harder because we didn't have anything for the entirety of those eight innings.
Ty
Style.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah.
Ty
And I think part of it, I mean, that, in a sense, makes it a tough watch, but that's what also kind of ratchets up the intensity. And, like, it kind of turns into a. Oh, boy, I'm going to be on the edge of my seat here, you know, starting from the third inning, because you could tell, like, those pitchers for Venezuela, like, a lot of these guys have seen him before. He is a big leaguer, but he's not. He's not an All Star. But this event has just kind of brought out Certain things. And some of these guys where they, they kind of just pitch outside themselves. I think that was a concern going in is hey, if they can get into the bullpen. I mean, you saw it. They had guy after guy after guy after guy just throwing 100 plus miles an hour. But I think like you said, I mean, yet.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Ty
As a, as a baseball fan, obviously you want to see. I wanted to see Team USA win, but mission accomplished like this. This kind of did take over everything for the last ten days or so. And that's the best part is if you, you know, we're kind of on the fence about maybe wanting to watch more baseball like now. The season does start a week from now, so hopefully they can carry the momentum of, of this event into that
Pat McAfee
7.369 million for the Dominican Republic game. We do not know if the finals is going to be more or less than that. That Dominican game felt like it was hyped up to be the biggest of the entire thing. You know, we had Skeens pitching them. Like I think everybody kind of understood the Dominican Republican lineup was a home run derby in of itself. I mean it was names in sport playing there. So we do not know if the finals will end up topping that. But I think that's the biggest thing FS1's ever had.
AJ Hawk
Certainly.
Pat McAfee
And they couldn't move. I think, I think there was Family Guy. No, I think it was Simpsons.
Coach K
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Oh sure. So I think there is an actual thing where they're like, we couldn't move. Like actually cannot move. There's something that says that, yeah, been doing this for like 30 years telling what's future.
Ty
So maybe, yeah, Simpsons ain't fucking going anywhere.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I don't know if the Simpson or it was something that was like, hey, yeah, we get Fox. This is kind of how this goes in its entirety. But I think Fox is obviously has to be thrilled with what WBC is and I think like everybody involved should be. That was a well run event and last night was spectacular. Tony, you got a chance to be down there with the other half of the Hammer done Cowboys. Bubba Gumpino.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, it.
Gumpy
It was awesome. The, the whole environment was electric. Literally from the moment we stepped into the building until the moment we left. Gumps and I were a little bit higher than you guys. I now have dual citizenships with Venezuela and the US Gump has got a triple citizenship. We were, we were surrounded by Venezuela and they were, they were awesome. You talked about it like there was no, there was never any like ill Will. Everyone was just having, like, a good time. The entire game. Everyone was chanting. It felt like a. A soccer environment on, like, a World cup stage. There was a full orchestra, band. Not orchestra, band. Like a high school marching band for Venezuela behind us in the section behind us. And they played the entire day loud.
Dan Orlovsky
It was.
Gumpy
It was awesome. There was. I mean, there was costumes. There was people dressed up as George Washington. I saw a lot. A few Venezuelans wearing Maduro T shirts. That was. That was fun to see.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. But I also saw a lot of people saying, yeah, yeah. Oh, no. That's what I mean. There's a lot of Very positive.
Gumpy
It was him.
Pat McAfee
That was interesting, because I feel like
Gumpy
it was him and his Nike tech. That's what they were wearing.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you don't. Yeah, exactly. You don't really know. Right. Because who you're getting information from. They're the ones deciding they were getting. Right. That, like, that's kind of how we. The world we live in now. It's like, hey, who's deciding what information I get? Who's. Who's the one that gets to decide here? Because they're kind of shaping everything. And then you get in the middle of a bunch. It's like they felt really. They're really cool with.
Gumpy
Oh, yeah, very.
Pat McAfee
I mean, the word gringo certainly just was very quickly out there. I mean, it sounds like that's almost
Ty
a term of endearment.
AJ Hawk
I think it is.
Pat McAfee
Any caucasoid that walks around, I believe they are dropping gringo. Now, we all do know how gringo started, right? That was like, green for our money. And then basically telling us to go, you know, and then kind of get out of here. So last night, literally, the people behind me. Hey, gringo. Quickly. And I was like, yes, that's literally. That was my first thought. Yes. I was like, that means we could probably start bantering a little bit. They asked me to take a picture of them or whatever, and I was like, yeah, you got it. And they're like, thank you, gringo, or something. I'm like, oh, this is sick. Okay. I got a nickname with this group, but I do know what the nickname means, and I guess this is a term of endearment. And then I seen in our comments, I posted, boy, there's a lot of this gringo. This Spanish, Spanish, Spanish gringo. Spanish, Spanish, Spanish gringo. I'm like, okay. Hey, I would like to let you know it was an honor to be a green guy in there last night. It would have been fucking great if the green Team would have won that thing last night.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, but the Venezuelan team, I'm happy it was them.
Gumpy
Yeah, it was.
Pat McAfee
I'm very happy. They were very happy to win that.
Gumpy
It was very, very fun. Yes. And you could tell there was a lot of, like, a lot of happy tears up there. Yeah. Us just, you know, they couldn't hit, but they do have receipts, so I do have that.
Con Man
Tony, come on, Tone. We said this. We said this. We were so bummed out. We don't want to do this, especially after what we saw on X last night for a couple specific guys, him being one of them. Judge. I mean, don't want to do it. And I'm sorry, because I would like
Pat McAfee
guys to want to play for America going forward.
Con Man
And also, they did do their job, like, to what Ty said. I am not a. Hey, let's go watch baseball today. Like, I'm super excited to watch, you know, game 15 of the Red Sox. I am now, like, I am very excited for opening day and for kind of what baseball. Tony, Tony's boy in the off season. Tony, Tony's boy. Will you brew. Who hit the home run for Venezuela yesterday? Couple guys. Yeah. Bomb.
Pat McAfee
An absolute bomb. Yeah. I. I think it was good for baseball. I think it was success. But, man, what the Internet was doing to the American players. Oh, boy. I think might be hard to get players play next time.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, especially whenever, you know, you're making no money and.
Ty
Right.
Pat McAfee
All you can really do is get hurt.
Gumpy
They have more fun next time. They didn't look like they were having fun.
Pat McAfee
Well, they didn't hit the ball ever.
Gumpy
No.
Pat McAfee
I mean, like, the hits are when the fun time. The hits are when I think they're. We're pimping things. I mean, jumping over to. We're high five and. Yeah. But I'm saying we didn't really have. We didn't hit really. Like, we never. We never really were just like an absolute wagon. All these teams are having so much fun. The crack of the bat happens. That bat's going into the sky, and then everybody's up over the dugout. Ah. And that just kind of carries into, I think, the rest. I don't know baseball well enough, but I think if your bats are cracking.
Gumpy
Oh, yeah.
Ty
Oh, it's contagious. Big time.
Pat McAfee
It does feel like that is the case.
Ty
And I mean, it was also one of those things where, you know, like, it just. That. That. That was. I think they kind of. They took what everyone was saying, and it was just like, okay, let's just be that then, you know, like, everyone's already killing us right now for like this militant style where it's like, hey, all business. Because they knew the expectations were like, they had to win. There was no other. And we saw how good a lot of these other teams are, but there was never a. Like, Venezuela's not beating the U.S. doctor's not beating the U.S. japan's not beat. Like, that was the expectation going in. And you can see how. I mean, like, these guys obviously were. Had a lot of pride in putting USA on their chest. Like, when it gets intense like that, I. The. I mean, that is like the. The weight of a World Series on your shoulder almost.
Con Man
Yeah. Like they had the expectation of USA Basketball. Like, they should run through everybody when it's really more like USA Hockey. Like, the teams are so level. Everyone's so good in a hockey game, you know, puck bounces the wrong way, you lose. In a baseball game, if a pitcher goes unconscious, like, Ty was just talking about, like, the other team has no chance.
Pat McAfee
All right, let's say it. We were Canadian hockey team in baseball.
AJ Hawk
Yep. Yeah.
Con Man
Yeah. We were Team David.
Pat McAfee
We had fucking all McKinnon's there. We had them all.
Con Man
Yeah. Benner.
Pat McAfee
And then what do we do? We lost to Venezuela.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And then the Canadians thought they could start talking shit. You guys didn't win shit. Okay, what are we talking about? Why are you guys talking to me right now? Why are you in my comments talking about us losing our sport to Venezuela when we were your hockey team? First of all, we are our baseball team.
Coach K
That's right.
Pat McAfee
That's who we were.
Ty
Exactly.
Pat McAfee
That's who we were. So gumpy. Why? And I understand and I respect the angle. Being able to talk shit. Whenever you can talk shit, you should try to do that. So I maybe more respect for the Canadians than I had before for that, but how do you guys find your way into this conversation when us in Venezuela just had an absolute classic last night in a world baseball classic championship.
Gumpy
It's America's pastime. It's your game.
Pat McAfee
Okay, let's see.
Ty
I believe it's Venezuela. Gumps was national. Gumps was it really? I believe it is.
Gumpy
Gumps was very, very pro. Yeah. I have my USA Tarpon, dude. I live in this country. I love it here.
Pat McAfee
I was a little bit worried about how that was going to go with you, but I do appreciate you.
Gumpy
Those late innings, he would not sit down. Actually, no one was ever sitting down. So.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we stood up too. And there was there was two Dominican Republic fans behind us that got tickets. So, like, there was a lot of Japan. Japanese fans there. They bought tickets because they thought Japan was going to be in the. I think they. They got some really good seat. There were some really good Japanese seats. Like, we're talking front row.
Con Man
They got those early.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, they. They got those really. And they all had seemingly. They were just there to get content.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I think there's probably going to be some shots coming out of some Japanese fans that were at that game last night that are outrageous. Like, there was where Bryce Harper threw that bat straight at. There is a line of maybe 30 Japanese people that were clearly all together having a good time, and all of them had, like, perfect 8K camera set. It was. Yeah, I think. I think last night was special. I was. I was lucky to be there. AJ Hawk, ladies and gentlemen, is here in the Thunder. Hawk, we kind of bodied you out of that convo strictly because you missed opening day of training camp with Team USA and you also missed the championship with Team USA strictly because you have a life and a family and everything like that. But baseball was awesome. You played baseball in high school?
AJ Hawk
Not in high school. I played all, like, the travel ball growing up. Played pitcher, shortstop, center field.
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah. Were you a guy out there because you hit the ball?
AJ Hawk
No, man, I could hit the ball sometimes. I didn't face a ton of curveballs in. In middle school travel ball, but when I did, I struck out.
Pat McAfee
Ohio people like baseball because. Cincinnati Reds.
Rich Eisen
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
I mean, the Reds are like, one of the. They're a staple of the mlb. We know that.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so is that why Ohio people?
AJ Hawk
I mean, I grew up, like, I grew up about an hour away from Cincinnati. Deion Sanders was playing on the Reds for a little bit when I was growing up. There's some. Some, you know, huge history there. Obviously, Ken Griffey Jr. Had a nice run.
Con Man
Charlie Hustle.
AJ Hawk
I mean, Pete Rose kind of set the.
Ty
Yeah. Big Red. Big Red machine. They were a. Johnny Bench, a franchise in the.
Pat McAfee
Ken Griffey Jr last night through the opening pitch.
Gumpy
Yes.
AJ Hawk
He did awesome with Miggy, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just saw him admiring the swings of these guys.
Gumpy
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
And he's just watching him hit dingers and just, like, in awe.
Pat McAfee
I'm telling you, abusing baseballs in that batting practice, crazy. We go from we land.
AJ Hawk
That'd be the best part. I think that, like, watching, like, Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds hit BP back in the day, that was, like, something I always wanted to do. Never was able to yeah.
Pat McAfee
So I think that's something you should think about doing. I think we're gonna probably do some baseball this year. It seems like it.
AJ Hawk
BP be fun.
Pat McAfee
BP was that usa. Team USA was fun watching. Getting there. Cause they're. They're still figuring it out, you know, like, at that stage. And then whenever you talk about, like, All Star break, whenever we're in there, they're middle of season. These guys are thumping. They're getting ready for it all. And then last night, that.
AJ Hawk
That.
Pat McAfee
I'm telling you that those baseballs were louder than I've ever. I think I've ever heard. And it was one after another. It was just piping them off the. There was a. There's a screen, I guess, in a. There's a screen off the wall, and these dudes were just plunking the screen. And the Contreras brothers, it was one after another. I guess they both are catch. I'm not 100% sure of the story. They're both talking shit, which I respected to me directly, as I am saying things to them, I'm saying, hey, we don't need any of that. They're like, bench today. I'm like, good. That is good news. But they were banging these balls, and I didn't get to see. We didn't get to see Team USA. Team USA's was before, but we landed. Get in a sprinter van, straight into traffic. We're not moving at all. Sprinter van kind of had an interesting smell to. It Might have been a cat in there. Yeah.
AJ Hawk
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
It might have been a little cat run around in there. But nonetheless, comfortable seats. We get in there, we're stuck in traffic. It's a little dark in there. Can't open the windows, obviously, so it's a little dark, a little. You know, we get that. Doors open. All right, everybody, here we go. Boom. Right in. Right through the dugout. Right into where? Fan baseball. Okay. I might be at altitude at this point. Just the sensory overload that immediately happens from three minutes after we get out of that sprinter van to bang. We're right here. This is literally probably three minutes afterwards. It's like, you're on, brother. Yeah. Everybody. Hey. Oh. I don't think I knew what we were walking into here. How you doing? And then all of a sudden, you hear. And it's like, whoa, who is this? And it's one of the brothers. Contreras brothers killing it. Then Miguel Cabrera comes over, and then Kershaw was over there playing catch. And then Rossi came over to say Hello. It was like, like it was just all so cool. It was also.
AJ Hawk
Did you stick around? Did you stick around to watch their celebration? So then it feels that much better when we go win it again in three years.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we did stick around afterwards.
AJ Hawk
Sit there and cry and be sad because I just want to know I'm gonna be out there next time.
Pat McAfee
So as we were getting our silver medals, they were running. The whole team was running around from one side of the outfield, the other side of the. I feel good like this.
Con Man
There are fans, maestro.
Pat McAfee
And this is why it was all happening. I was just kind of letting people know that what inevitably got us was Ponche, which was another strikeout. And that's how it ended. One through three, folks, when the whole crowd screaming, it's going to be hard to get a hit. Let's talk about some other sports have taken place. Interesting stuff coming out of the Max Crosby podcast. We'll certainly run a four minute clip of that at some point today. That is. That is an interesting dynamic what's going on over there in Baltimore. It doesn't make Baltimore look good at all. But I guess they don't care. I guess that's just kind of how that goes. They just kind of don't care how we're allowed to do this. This is what we're going to do. Because it feels like Max Crosby would have been a very good Raven. Like whenever you think about the fits, it's like Max Crosby would have been great for Baltimore, we think, we assume he would have been great for that style of football team. And what they have been over the years, we assume what Bashadi wants still very hard nosed. Not Trey Hendrickson isn't a wild talent. But for them to take a huge swing like that, send two ones and then for something to happen as the rest of the world has exploded. About this number one topic, Max Crosby. Two one number one topic. Boom, boom, boom. Everybody's talking about how awesome it is. It's the more we learn. It sounds like soon as he got in that building, he felt weird. He said he didn't see the GM for five hours. He just traded two ones for this guy. He's Max Crosby. I don't know. That's just very weird. And then, you know, our source have told us that Trey was being told that he was going to be potentially if he was to go to Baltimore because I think there's other teams involved. But if he was going to go to Baltimore, Max is going to be on the team. Max, obviously they make a they announces trade. Max thinks he's going there. I assume at some point the Ravens thought they were trading for Max Crosby. It's like, when did all that happen?
AJ Hawk
When did they know that they. When did it. Like, when was. When did the first person say, hey, maybe we should find a way out of this situation?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I don't know. And who was that person?
AJ Hawk
Yeah, like, was Max in the air, flying there? Like, yeah. When you hear Max speak about it, he is very confused. But who. I guess who initially brought up. They said one of their doctors came, said, there's some issues with your knee or your scan. Like, but to go from that to, hey, let's get out of this thing. Like, how long was that?
Pat McAfee
Well, and then the scans are those the day he gets there? So that'd be at the beginning of his trip. So he flies over there. He gets there, like the combine. Yeah. Heads to the hospital, does the scans, heads to the facility, gets the scans. Whatever it is, it's like, well, why isn't the gm, the guy. The guy that just traded two ones, why aren't you meeting him there? Yeah, you know, like, that is even before you go, hey, you're gonna go do some scans. I'll talk to you afterwards. Just wanted to say hello. Like, that would just be like a natural. You think for something of this magnitude, you just think that would be the case. So him saying that that never happened. It's all very weird. And once again, it doesn't matter in, like, six months from now. Like, it doesn't matter at all. Because Crosby's pumped to be a Raider if he's going to remain a Raider. He's excited to be there. He also saw the moves that they made. He chit chatted about like, he's watching Sportsters, seeing everything the Raiders do. That looks like a good. Yeah, that's a good football team.
Con Man
Good job.
Pat McAfee
And they got two. They got a couple ones. I mean, this is a good football team. He said he was even noticing what they were doing while still being excited with the Ravens. So whenever this falls through, it's almost like the football gods are talking to him. Like, hey, go back to the Raiders. And we assume that'll be the case. So whenever they're good this year, especially with Fernando Mendoza doing his thing, it's like, this won't even. This will be a blip of, hey, you remember when he was a Raven for what, half a news cycle? And then it was completely changed. It just. It better work out in Baltimore because this looks like big time Play?
Ty
Yeah. No, I mean, and. And who. Like, he mentioned it on the. On his podcast, too. He's like, you're probably never going to get the full extent of the story from anyone. Like, we're never really going to know how this happened. But how do you get buyer's remorse like that? Because everything that, like, Ellatrosh has said and kind of everyone is like, hey, yeah, like, you know, he's not going to look great on a physical right now, but he is progress. He's where he needs to be. So, like, they would have known that going in. I. I don't know. Maybe, you know, like, Tony, I think kind of said it like tongue in cheek was like, maybe the Ravens looked at what happened during free agency where they just saw all of these guys leave and they didn't really sign anyone else, and they're like, wow, you know, we. Now is not the right time to give away these two first round picks, but even with the explanations we've gotten, this. This situation makes no more sense than it did when it first broke.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And we'd like to say, Max, congrats. It seems like, you know, this does feel like something that happens for a reason when you look back on it. And also, I believe he's six years plus sober now. He's celebrating, so probably has a lot different perspective on how it all is. And with what the Raiders did this offseason thus far, who knows what they're going to do. Feels like they're going to be a good team and he's definitely going to be a part of it, it seems like at this stamp.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And then for the Ravens, what does this mean? What are. What are you. What are they?
Gumpy
Well, Lamar's boxing, so that's.
Pat McAfee
I did see that.
Con Man
Yeah. That's pretty sweet.
Pat McAfee
I like that Lamar Jackson is just
AJ Hawk
picking up boxing right now.
Gumpy
He's smack Dano in the mouth.
Pat McAfee
I would assume that this is day one, maybe day two of him boxing or maybe. Maybe he's done it before. Whatever the case, I like that he's going to get ready to throw some hands.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, and I. I like that he said this the end of the workout, too. Didn't pick the best time to kind of put in there because he could easily do some mitt work that makes him look unbelievable. Instead, he said, hey, I just want to show you what's actually getting done around here, just in case you want to say that there's excuses for the Ravens in other years as opposed to of this upcoming year. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is the man that's being pictured on those mitts. Jackson, Throwing those hands, the authority on NFL play for espn, Dan Orlovsky. Yeah, Throwing those mitts, kid. He's getting the kidney, I think.
Dan Orlovsky
I want no fight. I want no fight. No, no. I have love for Lamar.
Con Man
Love.
Dan Orlovsky
I want nothing to do with fighting Lamar. Jackson, dude.
Pat McAfee
All right, well, I'm just saying it seems like he says one thing to you, puts a cigarette there, and then all of a sudden, he's in a boxing gym.
Con Man
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Just saying something to think about as you, you know, here. What are you eating right there? You're a sable. I don't know if that's going to do it. Bob, you got. You might want to start eating some grit. Okay.
Dan Orlovsky
This is peanut. Peanut butter yogurt.
Pat McAfee
That sounds good. Oh, okay. I like that. Is this protein? That's your protein alternative because you don't eat any big meals.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah, this is just lunch. The peanut butter yogurt, a little granola, raspberry.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So do you eat meat?
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah, I love chicken and I love steak.
Pat McAfee
You love me, dude.
Con Man
Big meat guy.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you do. Daniel, let's talk about some meat. Let's talk about what's going on in the way. The meat of the subject.
AJ Hawk
Were you laughing at me? What. What's he. Where's his head at?
Pat McAfee
I don't know.
Ty
Good question.
Pat McAfee
I think he's fantasizing right now about meat. Just flopping.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Me just so many different meats. Oh, give me some of that meat over here. Meat over there. Right on the forehead, baby. Let me bathe in this meat. Yeah, I understand. We had some good meat last night, actually, on that flight. Oh, it was like a boneless chicken thigh thing. Yeah, yeah.
Con Man
It was some of the best meatballs.
Pat McAfee
You would have loved it, Dan. You would have been all. It was such good meat, you know, good protein in there. Let's talk about the meat of what you're into right now, which is making Ty Simpson a top five draft pick in the NFL. Okay. We respect that and appreciate it. We saw your narrative early. Whenever you tried to bury Fernando Mendoza, you found out after watching more tape. Bad idea. Shouldn't do that. Fernando, this guy's a really good player and a really good guy. He's a certified, legitimized number one overall pick. But let's talk about this guy from Alabama who certainly had an incredible season before he got hurt and is also a Nick Saban disciple. They're saying you've been high on Ty since the Very early in this entire scouting season, we'll say for Dan Orlovsky, what are you hearing now? What are your thoughts now as you continue to dive into it all? And we, whenever we said, don't you be saying that against Fernando, we're never putting down Ty. We are fans of Ty.
Gumpy
That's not what we do.
Pat McAfee
We think Ty's a good player, but it sounds like he's getting hotter in the streets, if you will. Dan Orlovsky.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah. I would tell you that my feelings on both of these players really haven't changed since the start of me watching all of their tape. I think I have two games left of ties. I'm done with Fernando's. Where I stand on Ty Simpson. Let's. The positives are I think he's surgical throwing like real NFL concepts down the field. He's phenomenal down in the red zone when you watch him. Like when I watch him, I see so much of Brock Purdy, the, the layered throws, the intermediate game, that ball, that 15, 20 yards down the field ball. It's consistently in the right place. I love how often inconsistently he has to throw either between defenders or over defenders because that's real life for high end quarterbacks in the NFL. There's playmaking ability there and so like there's ownership and control of the line of scrimmage. I have games, Pat, just this. I'm just being completely candid. I have games when I watch of Ty Simpson and the Wisconsin game, the Missouri game, the Vandy game, the first Georgia game, where I think he's like the best player in the field that he carries. Alabama in those football games and they're not easy throws. They're challenging throws. They're difficult, real NFL throws. I felt that way about Jaden Daniels and so like, it's hard for me to dispute that. It's hard for me to not watch all those throws that are getting made in those moments. And I just am very impressed with this tape. The negatives. I think one of the negatives is a very interesting conversation because the negatives are the size and the start. The size I can have a conversation about. I do think it's worth talking about the college starts with guys. I think your tape should matter more than how much tape you have. And the amount of starts these guys get is just a different era in college football now. Jalen Milroe started not in the 25 season but in the 24 season for Alabama. How much does nil factor into a certain guy being the starting quarterback now, rather than 10 years ago, 20 years ago it was like, no, the best player is going to play. Because nowadays with nil, how much does, oh, that guy, we're paying him. So he's the starting quarterback. I think for a lot of these guys it's like, is the best quarterback always playing at these schools or is the quarterback that has been promised the most or making the most that is playing? And how is, how is it going to affect some of these guys in their college starts as it moves forward?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it's unfair if that is the way it is going, which I think you are certainly speaking the truth. We've seen a couple different, you know, teams tank themselves basically because the promises made on who would be playing at the most important position on the field as opposed to maybe giving somebody else has to take at least 75% of starting reps if healthy, because you're probably paying per game as well. So he needs to be in these games if he's healthy. There's a lot of that happening in college football, which obviously we don't love. But it does, does feel like the cream does rise to the top. And I think Ty Simpson certainly did that at Alabama. And I think when it comes to the starts and the amount of play, I think he has 15 starts, if my number's accurate, I think it's like 15 starts. We'll certainly be held against him if he stinks in the NFL, it'll certainly be held against him. But if he comes in, does really well, they'll be like, you know, Joe Burrow got a late start whenever he went down to lsu, had one year and then he had a national championship year. It's always like it's all whether or not you look mature or not on the field when you're playing. Feels to me like Ty is a mature player. Like it does feel like he is a mature player on the field, off the field. I think he's an incredible leader. Obviously sat behind. So with the starts only being 15, we have certainly seen with Anthony Richardson here in Indianapolis not having a lot of starts. We've seen a downside of not having. But I think you can tell if somebody is a mature football player. Like I don't want to say mature human because I think everybody has to go through life immature. I mean, I got arrested when I was in the NFL and that changed my life a lot. So I'm not going to judge 22, 23 year olds in this entire thing. But I'm talking about as football players. Ty Simp feels like A mature football player out there because how long he's been, how long he's been in the building, how many reps he's probably taken practice, how many, everything he's done. Now granted he might go out there and suck and we will certainly say we should have done. This guy had 15 starts. This guy never played football. Then we're dropping in the NFL. But it doesn't feel like that whenever you watch him and whenever you kind of talk to him and everybody around him, you know.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah, it just one, he's the son of a coach so I'm sure that he's been in, at least in the, the maturity of a football world or a football player. There's got to be positives that he's carried about that. I don't know the young man, I've never spoken to him or met him, but just when you watch his tape you're just like dude, this, it's hard to just run from the tape. That's the. I'll continue to go back to that. It's hard to just run from you watching the throws after the throw, after the throw, after the throw. And honestly you're watching Alabama, this was not a good offensive line. They get to a point where they're trying to throw the ball to a 6 foot 7, 350 pound offensive tackle
Pat McAfee
to try to generate off and what do you do?
Dan Orlovsky
I don't. Yeah, did some decent stuff with it but like
Pat McAfee
have no brain. They're trying to be innovative.
Dan Orlovsky
Okay, so there's a ton of drops. The young superstar Ryan Williams I don't think played well. Cuevas is probably like the most consistent player. Jeremy Bernard was nice but even then there's drops and so I like to see, I wanted to see how he rebounded, rebounded from some of those drops in games. I just am very impressed with this tape. I've, I've, I've gotten to the point where yes, I'm impressed with Fernando. I don't think Fernando for me is a no brainer lock. I think that there are, there's stuff in his game that is going to have to get improved for him to become a really, really good player in the NFL.
Pat McAfee
Okay.
Coach K
I will say this about.
Pat McAfee
Okay, Daniel, hold on. AJ's got a question.
AJ Hawk
Nice one to jump in. Yeah. What are your concerns? What do you think? I guess Fernando needs to improve upon like what are you going to be watching early and is there a chance that they possibly bring in like a Flacco Kurt Cousins and have Fernando develop
Dan Orlovsky
a little bit I would love to see them have Kirk Cousins. I would absolutely have a veteran there. I think the things that you want to see him do more consistently because you just don't see it. And I don't know if it's something that he can or can't AJ because he doesn't do it. A lot on his tape is you don't see Fernando Mendoza go through progressions down the field.
Con Man
A lot.
Dan Orlovsky
Like, hey, one to two to three on deeper throws. He does a good job of like, hey, I. I've got a good. Understand now they get a lot of man coverage because they ran so many RPOs they had. They saw a ton of man coverage. So he saw. A lot of times you can tell, like, I know where the ball's going before I get the snap from the quarterback. Like, oh, yep, you're in, man. Here comes this back shoulder fade or go ball or corner route, and he throws it phenomenal. That's why his body's in position all the time. But you don't see him go from like, okay, I want to launch this deep post to, nope, it's not there. I want to get to this crosser. Nope, I want to get backside to this end.
Pat McAfee
What'd you say, Dan? I'm sorry,
Dan Orlovsky
you just don't see him go through a lot of, like, the.
Pat McAfee
He just heard the talk back, I think.
Dan Orlovsky
Did you just hear the talk back down downfield progression?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. You've heard talk about it. That's awesome. That's awesome.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah, I did.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. That's the first time you've ever heard talk back?
Dan Orlovsky
No, I've heard talk back in time before. First time I've heard it with you.
Pat McAfee
Oh, really? So you hear them talk? You hear them talking to me or you hear me talking to them?
Dan Orlovsky
No, I heard you just say, I don't like the thumb down.
Pat McAfee
Derosa. It just got sent into the group. While you're giving this thing to Fernando, it just got sent into the group. Derosa said he wants to come back and sing it. There's been two thumbs down to the group text while you were done.
Dan Orlovsky
Group text last night, too, so.
Pat McAfee
Oh, you did what?
Dan Orlovsky
Well, I didn't know. I didn't know a lot of the details of, like, the. The decision making, like, who was going to pitch when.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, of course.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
So, yeah, somebody in a group text just sent this in and then three people put a thumbs down. And I didn't like that that was happening, Dan.
Con Man
So I. Thumbsing it up.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Thank you. He needs representation in There. Sorry, we didn't know you got to talk back there. That's certainly something we're gonna have to fix. But like I don't know how many
Con Man
got tested with Coach K. Somebody just
Pat McAfee
got a peek behind the curtain right there on how this whole thing goes. Dan, we're definitely listening to you. You need to know that whenever friend of the program D. Rose getting murdered down there.
Ty
Yeah, I don't like it.
Pat McAfee
I don't like that one bit. So that was a message to the entire company right there. That was enough of that. That was literally buttons on my desk right here. I had all of them to the entire company. I think there was even an announcement out there. Hey, we're not thumbs down and derosa like this. Sorry about that, Dan, but Fernando's the guy. We know he's the guy. Kirk Cousins and him might be perfect first pick.
Dan Orlovsky
I just don't think. I personally don't believe the gap between Mendoza and Simpson is very big.
AJ Hawk
Okay.
Dan Orlovsky
And listen, being also honest and fair, it is an interesting exercise to try to. That's the team that should take him or that's the team that should take him. Like yes, I think him in Arizona makes a ton of sense, but I probably think three is too rich for that. So can Arizona trade back somewhere in the middle to the twenties in the first round?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but Dan, if you like your guy, you go get him. Of course, like Daniel Jeremiah just put out his most recent mock draft or whatever. I don't think he has tie in the first round. And then I'm hearing the way you're talking about him. It's like you're definitely putting the Dan wagon behind him a little bit. And in something that you know, I mean Kyler Murray was obviously massive. That was a huge deal, I guess Tua. Obviously Malik was a big deal. But it's like if there's not a lot of quarterbacks and you need a quarterback, especially if you're the Arizona Cardinals or I think you were saying to Miami Dolphins potentially need to be looking at Ty Simpson. It's like these teams who need a quarterback, they're not listening to any PFF ranking of what these guys are. Are they a first round or second rounder. People will go get a quarterback if they like it. We've seen it before Pennix, we saw it with jj. We've seen it with many other quarterbacks of the past. All you need is one GM to be like that is our quarterback. And they'll pick them wherever because if they get it right, who Cares.
Gumpy
DJ is very high on the Cardinals taking Ty Simpson. Obviously not at three.
Pat McAfee
He's.
Gumpy
He. He believes they could come back into the first round. So you get that fifth year of control because he feels that Ty could fit into that system very, very well. But obviously not with the third overall pick. Would be a little high.
Pat McAfee
Okay. But if they did use it and it ended up working out, if he's
AJ Hawk
your guy, it doesn't matter.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so here's a question.
AJ Hawk
He becomes your guy? I should say.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. If he plays how many years? Eight years. That would be a success, right?
AJ Hawk
Six year quality. Good start.
Coach K
Totally.
Pat McAfee
And this is an awesome. Go ahead.
Dan Orlovsky
I also think it's interesting you bring up Malik Willis in Miami. The reason I mentioned Miami, because I do think it's a perfect schematic match with what Miami has down there with Bobby Slowik and the offense that they want to run. Miami's building for 28. So like they're not in a window. They going to get 28. Everyone says that. At least they're really good. And I've talked with Daniel about this Jeremiah and I would love his thought on the whole college Sharks things. But like everyone says, you know, draft maybe isn't as high end. How many players are ranked as first round picks? 27. Draft is going to be better. And so if you're Miami and you are in this, we have to figure out not only our roster, their roster needs rebuilding, no question. But like our potential long term quarterback. You know, taking him at 30 when you like the player. Andy's a schematic match to what you want. It's if you value that person and player over whoever else you might take at 30. That's why I mentioned Miami. I also would mention Malik Willis because I remember the Malik Willis draft. I think that was Kenny Pickett who was the only first round quarterback.
Ty
Right.
Dan Orlovsky
And Malik was a guy that was flirted as like a potential. Malik was floated as a potential first round pick. He ends up not being a first round pick and everyone's like this is a terrible class. Then he just signed for $60 million. So it's like I wonder if teams are regretting potentially not taking Malik Willis a couple years ago at the back half of the first round.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you're right. What are you okay? It seemed like you got a little caught up. Was there a little peanut butter or yogurt stuck in your mouth there in mid sentence just a couple seconds ago? Feels like you stopped there. You just got to power through. Are you a professional or what's?
Dan Orlovsky
Going on, Dude, I did not stop.
Con Man
Maybe I.
Dan Orlovsky
Maybe I. Yeah, you did.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you certainly stopped a little bit. Certainly did. Sometimes those sound. Now that I know that that's possible, I mean, there's a chance that that thing's gonna be happening. As Dan was wrapping up his point there, though, for those that don't know, I was certainly using the talkback button that I just found out. Goes to Dano. And I was just going. He could continue to go. Hey, that was good professionalism, buddy. That was good professionalism. I want to let you know. Thank you for the take, but yeah, I appreciate what you're saying about Malik getting another chance, getting a chance to showcase himself and finding some people, you know, who knows how it all goes with Ty Simpson. But AJ Actually has a. Did he answer your follow up in that whole. About Ty Simpson?
AJ Hawk
Oh, no. Someone went. Conor was asking if he was any relation to OJ I said probably not. Con man.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So I appreciate you guys getting that figured out. There's a lot of Simpsons out there. Obviously. Bart and Lisa. Yeah, Lisa, Homer. There's a lot of Simpsons out there. But Ty is mobile. They say he's an incredible leader. He could spin it.
AJ Hawk
He's tough.
Pat McAfee
He's very tough. I mean, he played with broken bones. We think of his ribs and everything like that. And he can move. I guess that's part of the mobile. But he can, like, actually scoot. Scoot.
Con Man
Saving guy, too.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. So I. I like him. I like him a lot. And whenever, you know, the Fernando thing, you just kind of have to stand by what you said at the beginning of this thing. But, like, you know it, dude, you watched him play during those playoffs. You know, he willed that team, dude.
Ty
He.
Pat McAfee
He trust. 4th and 5 bro win national championship. A mile and a half away from his home home. Literally his home down there for the Indiana Hoosiers. Yeah.
Con Man
But he can't see progress down the field.
Pat McAfee
And the Indiana. The Indiana Hoosiers. If that was LSU on the side of his helmet right there, if that was LSU on the side of his helmet, it would be a completely different animal, I think, from you and everybody from the very beginning. But I do appreciate the fact that you're saying, like, hey, he's a guy. Him and Signetti perfect the way his brain operates, the way Sig's brain operates, seemingly a perfect match. That's why the Kirk Cousins, Fernando Mendoza thing, kind of a similar vibe. Whatever you do that, that'd be a great quarterback room. Obviously got to be set up for Success. It seems like the Raiders are definitely doing that. Tone has a question for you. Dano.
Gumpy
Yeah, Dano. Titans spent a ton of money in free agency, but most of it, majority of it was on the defensive side of the ball. They addressed that. Cam. Cam Ward, coming off of the number one overall pick, they didn't really do a ton on that side of the ball. Do you think at number four, they potentially go offense, they potentially go Jeremiah Love. And how much would that help Cam Ward?
Dan Orlovsky
I would. Okay, so the most important thing in Tennessee this year, outside of like the obvious stuff, right? Yes. We want to win and continue, start to build this culture, is like, Cam, we're taking a big second step. Okay. You have Wondale Robinson. He's a really nice slot receiver. You have Calvin Ridley, who, you know, Calvin's been up and down, up and down. There's been moments when he's played at a really high level, and there's been moments when he hasn't necessarily dominated. And then their leading receiver last year was a rookie. And so after free agency, who's really like this dominant offensive threat in Tennessee that's going to be in lockstep with Cam Ward to try to take that big jump this year. As much as I got a lot of love for Wanda and Calvin, it's not either of those guys. And so, like, I'm looking at Tennessee and you're going, the most important thing, Cam, work to take a nice jump. The best way to do that is put offensive talents around him. And that for me, I understand it's a reach with the. The value of the position, and it's going to cost you X amount of dollars down the road. And Jeremiah Love is a super huge.
Con Man
What was that?
Pat McAfee
What's his name? I think he lost service because you're the Tennessee Titan. Titans.
Dan Orlovsky
Don't overthink this. He's a great talent. He's a home run waiting to happen. I think he had like 30 touchdowns at Notre Dame that went over 20 yards. I think his average touchdown traveled 26, almost 27 yards. And so I'm just going. I understand that there's some defensive talent and the draft value, but, you know, with a young quarterback and trying to put as many talented players around him on the offensive side of the football as well, I can. This is a relatively easy decision if I'm Tennessee. And I would take Love.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And he ran a four, three, whatever. And then he did all the drills and he looked outrageous. And then you talk to him. He's the best.
Con Man
The best.
Pat McAfee
He Is like the actual best he was on game day. Numerous times he told his story about having a learning disability whenever he was growing up and how his brain works and things like that. And always was completely transparent with the world. It was basically like, I hope other people see this and learn that, you know, they can develop and evolve into who they want to be. And it's all. It's like, he's. This guy's awesome. Jeremiah. Love is.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Is the only time they weren't awesome is when they weren't giving them the ball.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Which goes back to, like, the. Who's getting paid guaranteed, what? In this entire thing. And that's obviously very difficult for all teams, but they have the two best running backs in the draft, right? Notre Dame. So it's like when you have the second best running back in the draft, too, it's not the easiest to make sure Jeremiah just gets the ball every single time. But it felt like every single time Jeremiah got the ball, something good was happening. He was just spectacular. And you talk about home run waiting to happen. That second level, third level. He was right in front of us. Playing against Indiana, it was 2 degrees outside. We were on our way to Ohio State because Tennessee was traveling in there for the first ever College Football playoff game up there in South Bend. And as we were walking out, we're walking back the end zone. Notre Dame is on their own one or their two. So they're back in their own end zone. We happen to be just right behind them. Literally right behind them as they hand it off. Jeremiah gets this ball 8 yards in front of us, skips through a hole, and then just like, switches a gear. And that's a 98 yard touchdown where he was just pulling away from everybody. And it was. What? Negative. Whatever.
Ty
Freeze.
Pat McAfee
And it was just like, holy shit, this one appears to be different than everything else on the field. And he got back to that form 437. I did not expect because of how big he is. Then the drills, him participating. Did not expect because he's a first rounder, but he nailed them all. His meetings are going to be great. When people get him on tape, he's going to be great. It's like, I'm seeing what you're saying, and I agree completely. Dan. Yeah.
Dan Orlovsky
And I just. I will continue to hit the couple points of if, if to a man, people are saying this draft isn't just unbelievably loaded, but everyone says this guy's the best or second best player in the draft, then if you're Tennessee and you're, you're just starting this new regime in rebuild. Why don't you just add really good players to your football teams and not think of he play Also if you play him in the slot for 50 snaps or 100 snaps next season, he's probably going to have value as a top slot receiver. He's that good of a pass catcher. I think Robert Sala, who's the new head coach is going, wait, I just watched McCaffrey do what McCaffrey does in San Francisco. And just how much of a headache it is to have that guy on the field all the time. Why don't I want that for my offense and why would I not want that for my young quarterback? Because I remember Brandon being, when talking to him, probably three, I don't know how long James Cook has been in Buffalo, but three or so years ago, maybe four years ago, and having conversations about Josh Allen and Brandon being kept saying, my job is to get as many good players around the quarterback as possible so this quarterback doesn't feel like he has to do it himself all the time. And Camp Ward's got a little bit of that in his game where like that's, that's one of his flaws is like trying to run around and always make these plays. And it's a beauty and it's, but it's a fine line. It's like one of your jobs is to make sure that you get as many good players around him as possible so he doesn't feel like on second and eight at the 30 yard line down in the red zone, he's got to run around and make a play where he could just be like, oh, just throw it to that dude and get 10.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I agree with everything you're saying down there and I don't love it, but it seems like the Titans are making the right decisions too. Yeah, you know, it seems like they're doing good stuff down there in Tennessee. Nashville is beautiful. Okay. Nashville is a beautiful city. We're obviously big fans of that place. We love what it is, we love how it is, we love the way it is. We love how close it is. We can kind of get in and get out and enjoy all the things that they have. But they're in the AFC South. We need them to be ass forever. And I don't think they're going to be. I think that is changing. And I heard, I believe Jelly told me this. He said, man, we got number one. I mean if we can't win now, we got all the money we got Salah and Dabo. We got a bunch of ones. If we can't do it now, we're never going to be able to do it. It's like I love that angle and they're getting a new stadium I think down there. And it's like maybe this is the Titans time and the new uniforms are sick. Speaking of new uniforms, Kyler Murray has one. Go ahead, Ty.
Ty
Yeah, Dan. Now that Kyler is officially a Viking, what are the expectations for him this year? I think there, I've seen some people still act like it's a competition. I. I think we know it's not. He's going to be the starting quarterback. And then do you hang on to the same kind of idea you had last year when you said if the Vikings just get average, average QB play out of J.J. mcCarthy that they would go to the NFC championship? Does the same thing apply to Kyler Murray?
Pat McAfee
No.
Dan Orlovsky
I would tell you I think they're a playoff team though if they get average quarterback play. I thought that roster was a little bit underwhelming given what the expectation talent wise.
Con Man
So.
Dan Orlovsky
But I still think it's a good football team. Flores is obviously great on the defensive side. Their offensive line is to play better. Wasn't nearly as good last year as it was two years ago with Sam Darnold. I like the Kyler in Minnesota thing. This is, I've said this from the jump. This is the if it's going to work or not going to work line of demarcation in, in Kevin o' Connell's offense, which is the tree of the Shanahans and McVay's. They want the play call to be the star. They, they are so good at breaking down defenses and knowing how to set things up and attack defenses is they are going to more often than not get guys open. They want you to consistently let the play call be the start and you just be the point guard. You just be the person that delivers the ball and then three or four times you got to make a play. Kyler still wants to be a playmaker. He still wants to be the guy give me ball in my hands, I'll go make the play. He has said that publicly and there's probably truth to it, but there's a little oil in water there. Okay. Like that's, that's what I want to see is can Kyler get to a point where he doesn't have that I got to go be this playmaker mindset all the time and he will be the point guard and Does Kevin o' Connell maybe bend a little bit and allow for a little bit of freestyle play from his quarterback rather than constantly demand or desire, like the in structure stuff?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. All right, well, we think Kyler can do it, right? And we think all that. That video game stuff, that was from years ago in a contract, it's all BS because we've seen what the players report card is for Arizona. Like, we think maybe there's no chance that they were ever going to be successful over there because everything was voted F minus. Like, do we think Kyler Murray maybe did check out because of how. I don't want to say it, because it's an NFL team. I'd like to have respect. Seemingly bush league operation happening out there. Was there. Do you think there's a chance that Kyler, maybe as a young player, always good at everything, always winning, top 10 pick in both, had to mature a little bit? And then when he looked around, he was like, I mean, what are we doing in this entire thing? I think a fresh start for him, his talent, his ability, and especially being Kevin o'. Connell, I think it's a good. I don't think I've ever come full circle on something being like a real problem like I have with Kyler Murray with Minnesota. That's how I feel at Daniel. That's legitimately how I feel at this point.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah, I don't disagree. From a talent perspective, he's tremendous. I mean, there's no debating that. I just, you know, stylistically, there's got to be a little give and take there. If that happens, then I'm with you. If that happens. But I do think that's something that is difficult for just wildly talented athletic quarterbacks to kind of really try to, I don't want to say reign in, but in a way, like, get control of. And I think it's hard for coaches that are used to a certain style of quarterback, you know, being willing to bend a little bit with what, you know, 1st and 10 and I dial up a play and it's there. I want you to hit it. I don't need you to run around and go make 15, you know, I don't need you to. I want you to hit the check down.
AJ Hawk
All right?
Con Man
No doubt, no doubt. I like that.
Pat McAfee
Sounds like a talk back. Just got in your face again there and just kind of made you stop. You've had a battle today a couple times. I want to let you know you did well. You're a real professional guy. Wanted to let me.
Con Man
It makes sense. Come to the TV today.
Pat McAfee
It certainly does. Thank you for bringing that championship performance to us today. Today. Wish you would have been able to play for Team USA last night. Maybe. We pawn so much.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah, man. I would have bet so much money when Schwerber got up in the ninth that he was putting one out.
Con Man
Yeah, would have.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I bet I actually did. But it was. It was before the game started. I emptied my account on Team USA
Con Man
before the lineup came out.
Pat McAfee
We'll see you next week. We appreciate you, Dana. You're the best. Goodbye. I bet a lot of money on Team USA last night. I thought the bats were gonna wake up. Turns out they want to sleep more than they've ever slept before.
Gumpy
Ponte manufactured a couple runs.
Pat McAfee
So many ponches. I didn't know that was happening. That felt like that should have been told to me. Be a friend. Tell for something nice about Change your life. We're back in the next hour. Coach Kate

Call 1-800-GRAINGER click granger.com or just stop by. Sport are the greatest. We're so incredible to lucky that we get a chance to chat about him every single day. Obviously last night I got a chance to experience live in person alongside many of the boys the World Baseball Classic championship where the United States of America lost to PA Venezuela. It was a great night. It was a great experience. It was an honor to be there. It was something I'll remember for the rest of my lives. And my life. And when Bryce Harper hit a two run shot to tie it up in the eighth inning after us only having two hits before that, it certainly became a moment that I'll Remember forever and cherish forever. It was really everything that I talk about sports does for people. But me getting to feel it the most that I've ever felt it in my entire life. Jumping up and down screaming, so happy for somebody that I've only met a few different times. So happy for a team that was obviously just put together a few weeks before this. So happy for a moment to potentially happen to bring happiness to so many folks. Con man's losing his mind. The people behind him are losing his mind. We're getting a chance to go crazy. Ernest is losing his mind. Dylan Devil Dog Raw does not know who Haggard is, but he knows that Bryce Harper just hit an absolute donghini there to tie this up. When we haven't had a lot of cracks of the bat, we certainly had to do our thing. Happy 40th birthday to Darius J. Butler as he brought in the night with an L for the United States of America and a dub for Venezuela. D Butt turned 40 today. Happy birthday.
Con Man
Happy birthday, Booch.
Pat McAfee
Happy birthday. But that was fun to get back down there, you know, in that weather.
Con Man
Fantastic.
Pat McAfee
It wasn't even sunny. It was just like, wow. So warm. We got home last night, I was shivering.
Ty
Yeah, Pretty cold.
Con Man
Left the window open, did you? Yeah, the car was freezing.
Pat McAfee
Gumpy's car was so cold.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
I got in Gumpy's car and I sat down and I was shaking. Too bad I couldn't push the fucking Gumpy. Cause he had the two sides. Did you still own two side of the car? Me? Yeah. Tank top and. And jeans. Yeah. You smart Tone. Did a full. Are we taking this plane back tonight? Because I'm bringing a jacket because I don't want to be.
Gumpy
I always walk off those planes from Miami or wherever we are warm in a T shirt. And it's always zero degrees when we get back. And this was the first time I learned my lesson.
Pat McAfee
Well, you know, it was smart. And I heard you say it. I actually thought to myself, okay, it lose. That's what I thought to myself. And then I got off that plane and I was sitting in Gumpy's car and I couldn't touch the button because my body was doing this to actually warm it up a little bit. And welcome back to Indiana. It was great to be here. And football never sleeps. Baseball has been fantastic. And we're about to get into a time where we're about to bet on a bunch of things we know nothing about.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
The toxic tables here at Boss Connor and Anti Schmidt con man. We're all fired. Up.
Con Man
Yeah. I mean, that's what it's all about. You just blindly take the teams that are underdogs. I think that is the smartest strategy. I forget what genius came up with it, but I adopted it. And it is very, very fun to
Gumpy
win or against the spread.
Con Man
You know what I been saying against the spread since Monday. And then I did some research. Two years ago, or excuse me, three years ago, only seven underdogs won as well. And then what happened the year after 10 underdogs won last year, seven underdogs won. What's going to happen this year?
Pat McAfee
Maybe more.
Con Man
And especially when you're hearing about these guys from Cal Baptist who are freaks of nature. You know, you. You do a little reading on Akron, all of a sudden you're thinking, hold on, there might be a 12 seat that advances to the Sweet 16 this year. So I'm not so sure. But definitely underdogs. It's very fun.
Pat McAfee
Ben Fox from Yahoo. Sports still around.
Con Man
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Yahoo Sports still bringing it. I think they're covering games and stuff. I think Yahoo Sports. Good.
AJ Hawk
Video games.
Pat McAfee
Fish or Freight.
Con Man
Oh, okay.
Pat McAfee
You want to watch fish and freaking yahoo.com. yes. And the Fiddler on the Roof. Oh, good, good. I think that's a show you guys did in elementary school.
Ty
Yeah. Play.
Pat McAfee
No, the. The Fiddler. Fiddler. The ESPN personality now is.
Ty
Oh, Flitzy.
Gumpy
Michael Collins comedy.
Con Man
No, the goat. Watch. Watch it.
AJ Hawk
Dude, that's the Caddy.
Ty
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Con Man
That's the Caddy.
Ty
His Twitter is Michael Collins.
AJ Hawk
Is he still carrying a bag for anybody?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, espn.
Con Man
Tiger Wood.
Gumpy
Tell us in the sun day red. Dude.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Are you carrying water right now? Seems like you are Tigers. You and Dan Orlovsky carrying water for people you don't know. Dana said, I never met Ty Simpson. Now here's saying never met Tiger. I. I don't think it was. I don't think that's who it was. It's who?
Ty
Flitzy.
Pat McAfee
Flitz. He's calling. He used to be on espn. Did college football stuff for espn. Used to be in the band pair acdc. He's very good. He's very, very good.
Gumpy
He played at the Horseshoe. I know that.
Pat McAfee
Yes, he did. They played it the Horseshoe. The band did.
Ty
Oh, God damn.
Pat McAfee
What's the name of that band? Band. I think it was the Band Perry. I think I nailed. They won a bunch of awards. He's calling Fisher Freight games now. I actually caught some of the.
Ty
Is.
Pat McAfee
Yes. Yahoo Sports.
Con Man
That's a good get.
Pat McAfee
Yes, I think so, too. He actually has A little bit of an Internet presence. And I'll tell you what. Fishers Freights game, from our understanding, never been one, but we've had people that go to him.
Gumpy
Bruce is a season ticket holder, kind of electrifying.
Pat McAfee
And the boys are undefeated right now. I think up there in Fishers.
Con Man
Yeah, they are.
Pat McAfee
J.T. stokes are our best player. He plays cornerback, wide receiver and a bit of running back. Scored the opening touchdown.
Con Man
We ended up winning 45 to 28,
Pat McAfee
I believe there was also a.
Ty
The Quad City Steamrollers tried to throw
Pat McAfee
a ball over the middle.
Ty
Big mistake.
Pat McAfee
Safety came down, laid the absolute wood tips and overthrows. Pick six the other way.
Con Man
Steamers are a good squad.
Pat McAfee
They're out of Cleveland. The Fishers Freight team, really? Yeah. Yeah. The Fisher's Freight team is unbelievable.
Con Man
They're legit.
AJ Hawk
I'm just waiting for the UFL to start up. My boy Ted again coaching the Columbus Aviator.
Pat McAfee
Good luck to them. I saw a report he was on tv. He was on a football like a punter, which I appreciated. He was holding that thing like he was about to drop that thing perfectly. I appreciate him and his excitement for spring football. So we hope that that'll be good. But what we do know will be great. March Madness joining us now. This guy's gonna walk us through it all. I think he didn't know exactly what he was signing up for until about midway through his first appearance. This one, it's probably happening from Jump Street. Coach. This is how this is going to go, ladies and gentlemen. When you talk goats, this guy's name is mentioned. Whenever you talk about college basketball, this guy's name is mentioned. 42 seasons he was the head coach at d. Obviously, Team USA's coach as well as brought us multiple gold medals for us to celebrate and act as if we did something just because we were born in this country. And for that we appreciate it. Ladies and gentlemen, Coach K. How you doing, Coach?
Coach K
Good being with you guys. You know, I'm glad you had that. Well, I'm not glad the US Lost, but that was a hell of a moment last night.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Coach K
And yeah, just for all you football and baseball guys that are not now going to enter the basketball world for the next month, understand that this is a month of moments. You had a moment last night. Moments started last night with Howard, one of my guys, advancing and the crying and whatever. And we have a chance to watch all these teams and get a chance to be in their moments. Are you. Are you kidding me?
Pat McAfee
Come on, Coach. I like. We're Cutting promos right now for March Madness. I did not expect this off the jump.
Coach K
It's. It's the best thing. The next four in the next four days are amazing because it goes from noon to midnight, and there are games all over the country. Everyone. And everyone's looking at their damn brackets and figuring out. I mean, I've been studying things for the last few hours. And the thing that I study that you guys. That you guys. You guys study something different. You. You study spreads.
Pat McAfee
Bingo.
Coach K
You know, And I don't study spreads. I just study games. So when I say if someone has a chance, I'm not saying because of the spread. Okay. Just so you know, I want to make sure we're speaking the same.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, you want to say I watch film. We're just hoping and praying with the number that the sports books. I understand what you. Well, I just want to let you know that's why you're here, though. Okay? So you are the one who's supposed to be giving us legit information as opposed to the shit we normally give up. So that is why we're very grateful.
Coach K
That was. I was trying to say. I was trying to say that in a different way.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Okay.
Coach K
So that's the way. The way you said it. You know your team better than I do. Maybe if we do this next week, I'll get more comfortable and just being. Boom. And letting them have their shit, too.
Pat McAfee
We would like it, obviously, for all the success that you've had. We are a very coachable bunch. You said the greats like to be coached. We are certainly no different. We're trying to get great. But on that note, we had a. Just behind the curtain a little bit more. Had a FaceTime with Coach K earlier today. What do you tell us immediately? AJ Watch the film. You're doing okay. You know, maybe do a little bit of this. And I said, coach, we don't need to change you at all. You don't need to be changing at all. And you go, no, no, this is not about change. This is about changing you. You.
Coach K
Well, helping you. Helping you. Yeah, we helping you. You guys need some help?
Pat McAfee
Amen. Amen. Thank you, coach. And we will take it all. So let's do a little help here. Whenever we think about this March Madness setup, you know, obviously 64 teams are in this thing. And we see the moments whenever some of the smaller schools get in, where the entire university, I think that one school, literally their entire university, Queens Queens out down there in Charlotte, their entire university, they celebrating and having this Massive moment. And obviously, it's changing the trajectory of most schools. Not this one, obviously, because they are going to be disappearing, going to another school, which is obviously sad. We hope they figure it out. But for most schools, this is a moment that could change everything for them. They know one magical run in March could change attendance, enrollment, brand, you name it. A lot of things can happen in these moments, but I think talking to you earlier, there's an interesting, like, kind of mindset and a headspace as you head into a tournament. Do you want to break that down, the two different kind of thoughts that could potentially either get you in trouble or maybe have you a chance to win this entire thing?
Coach K
Yeah, you know, I think they're. They're only so many teams that go into it wanting to win the whole thing, you know, that we're, you know, we're in it, you know, until Indy on Saturday afternoon and Monday night, you know, that's where we want to be. And then there's a lot of people who, and rightfully so, there are a lot of people who are content or happy to be in it. And if they win one game, they can be even more content. However, on the other side of it, if you're content and you have free credit, in other words, there's no pressure on you. If they take that approach, then. Then you might have some of those upsets that you're talking about.
Pat McAfee
Did you feel that with some of your teams? Because obviously, since 1980 and then 1991 was your first title, I think, after losing in 1990, 1991 is your first title. We talk about you obviously being expected to at least make it to the Final Four every year after that. Did you have to talk to your teams about, hey, we're playing against a team here, probably that nothing to lose. Literally, them being in the tournament is just like a huge deal for them. Their family, their hometowns, their university is just excited that they're even in the dance playing against Duke. Did you have to monitor that? And do you think some of these teams that are ranked very high are doing that right now as we speak?
Coach K
Yeah, they are. Because if you're that prohibitive favorite, you're playing against a team that doesn't feel any pressure. That means you better pressure them. I played for one of the greatest coaches of all time in any sport, Bob Knight. Knight and Coach Knight would say, you know, each game in the tournament is a championship game. You know, don't assume that you're going to be in the next game, no matter who you're playing and, and approach each game as a championship game. And then if you get to the championship game, you've won five of them. And I. That's what I try to do all the time. And, you know, sometimes we got upset by Lehigh or Mercer, who played great games against us, and that can happen at any time because you can assume you're going to be in the next ball game.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it sounds like you coach all the time, though, which is why you greats are great. There's some stories popping out about you that we love to hear. Go ahead, con man.
Con Man
Yeah, Coach. Speaking of treating every single game as a championship game, Jason Tatum told the story about how he had a slow first half, and during halftime, you basically ripped him.
Pat McAfee
And then he came out seven minutes straight.
Con Man
He said, yes, seven minutes straight. Speech comes out in the second half, scores 28. And then after the game, you're like, so do I have to chew your ass out after, you know, every single bad first half to get you going a little bit? What is it about a player like Jason Tatum and some of those, you know, top guys that you have coached that sometimes you need to, you know, kind of go into whether it's their past, their, you know, get personal to really piss them off, to get them going. You know, how often did you have to do that and, and do you expect, you know, the same type of thing during the tournament for some of those great players that we know that are, you know, freshman younger guys now?
Coach K
Yeah. Well, one you don't want. That story is true, but I, I hardly ever had to do that with Jason Tatum. And the thing before, you know, you have to have a relationship with, with the player where, when he needs that, because he needs, he needs a good kick in the ass. And, and he wasn't able to give it to himself, and so I gave it to him.
Pat McAfee
And.
Coach K
But if you didn't have that trusting relationship, and that's not the way it is all the time, but it is in the moment, by the way, if you don't do it and then we lose, how good is that, for Christ's sake? You know, like, in other words, you, you know, we're falling, you know, we're drowning here. You know, we need, we need for you to play. Hey, we. This isn't about, you know, son, I think you can, you're going to be okay and whatever, you know, come on, man, you can't do that stuff. So, yeah, and the great players didn't need it very often, but when they got it, they Responded, boom, boom, boom, boom. They, they responded right away.
Pat McAfee
I think they, the trust in the relationship even grows through those types of things, especially when it ends up being a positive. Now if you chew him out and call him a soft ass St. Louis kid for seven minutes at halftime, whenever you guys are in the lead and he's only had two points, he's been passing the ball and he's like, I want in halftime. I don't care if I have two points. We're in a lead right now. I'm dishing to rock. And then he said, he sits down and then for seven minutes you come in and just go, you soft ass St. Louis. Like basically just start chewing him out. And he said he was getting pissed off. He said, he's like, what are we talking about? Then I go out and have 28 points. We were in the game the second half. You give him the speech afterwards. It's like, like I appreciate the fact that it ends up working out positively too. So then they, so Tatum, for the rest of his life now is going to be a little bit more open probably to people coaching. Not like he wouldn't be to begin with, but like those are pillar moments, I think, in the development of superstars, I think, don't you?
Coach K
Yeah, Darren. And not only that, Pat, but what it does for the other guys on the team, in other words, okay, they know he's got his head up his rear end for, for, for a half and so what the hell are you going to do as a coach? And well, I better not have my head in that part of my body, you know, and the fact that you're whole, it's called accountability, you know, accountability. Holding a player accountable to play up to their individual potential. And, and when you do that, especially with the star player who don't need it, very often it permeates through the entire team. You know, they, it's a big team building thing.
Pat McAfee
Have you ever heard anybody say anything negative about his coaching either? Because, you know, we get to this new generation and there's some people in our sport, football, they're scared to coach the new generation, especially with nil, because it's like, well, if we piss this guy off or say something wrong, he'll just go somewhere else. Every good football coach that we've talked to, Saban, Bill, you name it, throw him. All they go, the great ones want to be like, this is, that's kind of like the separator between. You can find out quickly, like if somebody's a great one or if they End up getting pissed off or not. But you still got to keep a roster, though, you know, like, you can't. Was there ever a time and do you think that that is potentially a part of. I, I don't want to say you stepped away early. 42 years as head coach, 1,202 wins, like. But is that a part of the reason, you think, why it, you felt like it was time, maybe the generational stuff that was happening? Or do you think forever the greats will want to be coached hard, especially in basketball?
Coach K
Yeah, I didn't, I got out of. Because I was 75 years old for Crown Outlaw.
Pat McAfee
You look good, though. The hair. Yeah, yeah, the hair.
Coach K
No, I'm 79 now, and so I'm, I'm, I'm.
Pat McAfee
You still look good. I mean, four years ago you look better, I think, but you, right now, you look good. I still think you look good.
Coach K
Now. The, the, the really great ones want to be held accountable. Now, I wouldn't do that at a press conference. You know, I do it in the intimacy of a, a locker room where my guys are like, I know it's fashionable now to let TV in and watch everything pregame and whatever. I never did that. I, I, I, I, I looked at the locker room as that, that's ours, man. You know, like, get the hell out of here. You know, I mean, after the game, the press has to come there. But I would never tape a pregame speech because it's not, it's not real. You know, it, it, you're, you're, you're not being exactly you. And the guys in that locker room need for you to be you. And, and at, in those moments, those are the moments of intimacy that players and coaches have and players and teams have, have that develop really deep rooted relationships. So if I was coaching today, I would not, I still would not allow that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, right. Social media team would have bullied you, dude. They would have walked right into Shashevskyville with their tents and said, we're filming everything. And you would have said, I don't think so. I don't think that's case. No.
Coach K
They could film Krzyzewski Ville, but not our locker room.
Pat McAfee
Hey, those do get out. We don't like it too, because we as players, you know, like, I had Richard Rent as my coach in college. I would say he's fiery. I would say he was a fiery individual. And before the game, he was telling us to actually go murder. Not me, you know, because I'm kicking the ball. But everybody else it was like, hey, let's go. Hey, it is time to murder these people like this. These people should not even be in there. And if you were to get that out, out of context, like, who is he talking about? It's like, it's a competitive sphere right now. We were trying to get into a mindset to go do something that we've been working our asses off for. But then when Kirby Smarts got out, remember somebody was him from like inside a shower. And then the Lanning, Oregon one got out, like, right beforehand. It is starting to become something that I don't think any of us players love. Aj, I don't know. I can find. I feel kind of weird now. Listen, Kirby's was awesome.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
But I still feel like I should not be hearing.
AJ Hawk
I think it's a very personal thing. Like you said, taken out of context, like before, before a huge game. It's almost like after you win a championship, like, ah, these guys have a free pass for a couple days, like in what they say and what they do. And not that they're doing anything terrible, but I think at coach and you could probably tell us, Coach, I would imagine before, when you're all excited and you. I cannot imagine what's going through your head when you're trying to motivate a team. What's it like when you're in the locker room? Do you actually plan those things out or does it always like the top off the top of your head? Like when you do speak to the team before?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. What's your style? Are we burying the other team or what are we doing?
Coach K
Yeah, no, we're. We're. Whatever word you use, you want to beat the hell out of them. And now what AJ's saying, you have a plan. But then when you walk into a locker room, I try to sense the mood of the team. Their eyes, their body language. There's a feel, you know, that from being in locker rooms. And when. When the head coach walks in there, whatever you thought you were going to say, you might have to change that. Sometimes if it's too tense, you might have to have humor, you know, like just. And get them talking. Because if you're too tense, a lot of times you're only talking to yourself. You got to talk to one another. But I. I never. It was never scripted. Like, people will say, well, you know, what speech are you going to give? Number six or number four. That's a bunch of. There was no number, by the way. Say it had to be personalized for the group you have, you know, you can't do the same things over and over. It's their moment. You're in their moment, for crying out loud. That's the beauty of coaching. I get to be in the moments of these amazing young men or with the US Team with those guys. And it's got my practice points from one year to the other. The second practice wasn't the same as the second practice the year before. You're always personalizing what the hell you're going to do.
Pat McAfee
We have your, I believe, your itinerary for Team USA here, daily practice schedule. So sounds like you just did this every single day. Must be nice.
Ty
Wow.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, Just set it and repeat. I guess you said it and forget it. Coach K Basketball. Yeah, right. Obviously, anytime we get a chance to glimpse at what the greats are doing, we're certainly going to do that. I couldn't imagine how many of these you've had to create.
Coach K
About 5,000. About 5,000.
Pat McAfee
That's the thing. Head coach. In our sport, when you become a head coach, you hear a lot of people go like, I didn't expect all the stuff that was coming across the desk. I assume for you guys there's a lot of logistical shit. Right? I assume that is kind of a job of the head coach. What all, okay, strategy, recruitment, recruiting, day to day scheduling. What, what always under your umbrella whenever you're the head coach for Duke for 42 years.
Coach K
Yeah. I think that obviously recruiting is ultimate because you, you're not going to win without talent. And so the rapidity of the recruiting after one and done came in. You know, we recruited Badier, who is a great player for two years and he gave us four years. You recruit Jayson, Tatum and Zion, you recruit them for two years and they get one year. So the amount of time and the rapidity of getting those great players, that changed them immensely. To me, I probably spent the most time in preparation, individually and collectively. Like every night before practice, I would write, I'd watch tape by myself and write up a practice plan, then meet with my staff the next day to see, you know, what reads, you know, who's going to do what and then use it as a guide, not as the, you know, a strict plan. But I wanted to make the most out of my day for my team and I wanted to make the most out of every practice. And so I did that every night. You know, in basketball there are about 100 practices or so. So you do that for 47 years and do us stuff. It's about 5,000 I have every practice plan I've ever written, and most of them are tight, but the us stuff I have in each binder everything we did for that team name written out. And. And then I would look back in the summer on my practices that year to see I like that. I didn't like it. Oh, I. I forgot about that and, you know, that type of thing. And. And again, I go back to Coach Knight where he said, the will to prepare to win is the most important. And he's pretty damn smart guy. You know, he's a great coach and a genius, just. And that's the thing, really. And that's the thing I got tired of at 75. I said, you know, I'm on the road all the time, recruiting and preparing. It's time. Yeah, it's time to do something else. But it wasn't because of Nil and all that, that stuff, because you have to keep adjusting, man. You have to keep adapting. That's. That's the beauty of it.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. You wanted to free your mind. Yeah. Hey, I would like to free my mind of being obsessed with. With this, you know, for at least a part of my life. I've given a lot, I think, and you certainly did. You've given so much to sport. So we're thankful that you're getting a chance to enjoy the after sport, just like Coach Saban, you know, because some of you coaching never stop.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, and like you guys are just waiting for the whistle to be the one that kind of, you know, like that. I don't. I assume that is in basketball as well, but football's that way. Like these guys, I'm going all on the field. That's how it is. Like, don't. There's something after life. Right. Don't you think?
Coach K
After football thing, I would say those football coaches end up sleeping in their offices. And I never did that. You know, if I'm going to sleep, I'm going to sleep in my damn bed.
Pat McAfee
I'm working my ass off. I bought a bed.
Con Man
Okay.
Pat McAfee
I should at least go ahead and utilize that.
Coach K
And by the way, my wife would. Would. Would kill me, you know, if I did that. She talk about accountability. She. She holds me accountable. And my three daughters, I got four women in my life who are beautiful and I've learned so much from them. A lot of times, reluctantly.
Pat McAfee
It's a good thing, though. Sometimes the things you don't know that you need to learn are the best things to learn, and I assume they're learning from you as well. Goat. I mean that's kind of happening. You mentioned the nil not being a reason, but it is certainly a different world now. Go ahead, Ty.
Ty
Yeah, Coach. How difficult or impactful is it now when going into the tournament? You certain coaches probably know there are a couple key contributors on their roster who are going to be hitting the transfer portal. Maybe already have a new school or in some cases. I mean we saw Dusty May a couple years ago when they went on their run in the tournament and it was kind of like, okay, whenever they're out, he is going to be gone. He goes to Michigan. And how difficult is that preparing for the tournament, knowing that that is the situation when you kind of need everyone bought in for this potential month long run here.
Coach K
Yeah. Well, it's a great point. Obviously we saw how crazy football was. Right?
Ty
Wow.
Coach K
You know with coaches and they were actually leaving. Yeah. You know, like now there are a few coaches in the NCAA tournament tournament that know they're not going to be at that school now. But at least it's more private than football was chaotic. I mean I, I hope they can solve that with a different calendar and whatever, you know, Nick needs to solve.
Pat McAfee
Yes, he does. Yes, he does. You need to start sending him some text messages telling his old ass he needs to start doing that too.
Coach K
Yeah, he's a smart guy. But the thing, the question is a great one and how many players are in the tournament right now. It'd be interesting when the tournament is over to do a study of how many guys who are on their current teams are on different teams
Pat McAfee
already.
Coach K
And when the transfer portal comes up up. Understand that for the last month and a half or so agents have been talking to agents in strategizing where guys are going. And there's so much behind the scenes stuff that that's going on. But it'll be really interesting. I'm going to try to do that.
Pat McAfee
We'll do it. We'll have him do it. We'll have him do as you were saying that. I was like, this is an easy project for him who has the ability to pull all this.
Coach K
The other thing, Pat, and for you guys, how many guys actually enter the transfer portal stay and how many are not picked up? More are not picked up than picked up. The ones who are picked up probably most. A lot of them already know where, where they're going. And so this transfer portal, I think there's really good stuff. Stuff. But the unintended consequence of of it, one of them is that a lot of kids lose their scholarships. They don't have a place to go a lot. A lot.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, the grass is greener, they think. You know, it turns out there's actually no grass.
Coach K
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, hey, the football stuff really needs to be solved. That was. That was not good for sport, man.
Pat McAfee
I agree. I agree. Okay. I agree with what you're saying. I thought you were trying to throw rocks over here. I'm like, I just learned that you guys go throw the same shit. We're going through, it sounds like. Which is, as you were giving that answer, a lot of football people potentially watching this right now. It's like, oh, college basketball is having your. Your. Your problems are mirroring our problems. Like, like actually mirroring our.
Coach K
They're not as public.
Pat McAfee
Agreed.
Coach K
You know?
Pat McAfee
Agreed.
Coach K
They're not. They're not as public.
Pat McAfee
That Lane Kiffin stuff was crazy. And you talk about being bad for sport. I did not enjoy that at all. While. While it was all happening, like. And obviously game day was in the middle of it. Our show was in the middle of it. Of it. We know Lane. Lane's been on our show, so, like, we're kind of in it, but it was just like, yeah, this college football, like, this is what it is. And I'm like, I don't like what's happening here. Like. Like, I didn't like it, especially with how good their team was. Their team was so good. And then their school was so pumped to be where they were, and then all of a sudden, the entire conversation
Con Man
is like, players getting poached from the team.
Coach K
Calendar is better. Our calendar is better by far than the football calendar to at least have privacy, you know, going forward for it. The football calendar is really difficult, man. I don't know how they manage all that stuff.
Pat McAfee
Well, why don't you go fix it?
Coach K
Yeah, I'm going to. I think I'll stay in my way.
Pat McAfee
I mean, you just said you football people need to figure this shit out. So I thought you were trying to dabble. Maybe you're trying to dance over there a little bit.
Coach K
No, no, I'm not doing that. I love football and I love our guy Manning.
Pat McAfee
I thought he was gone for sure. I thought he was gone for, like, every year. He's potentially gone and then he's back. We did a college game day down there. I had a blast. I did not expect to the. The fans to be. And then what is it? Everybody's hands go up. Duke. Duke. What do they say, Coach? I don't know what they say.
Coach K
Ddmf.
Pat McAfee
Ddmf.
Con Man
More Food.
Coach K
Duke, Duke. Mf.
Pat McAfee
Duke. Duke. More finances.
Gumpy
Fun.
Con Man
What happens?
Coach K
Fill in the blanks. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Everybody's hands go up. Duke, Duke. More fun. Is that what they're saying?
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Is that what it is?
Coach K
You know, here's the. You know, when I coached, I mean, they've been saying that for years now. Now that I'm at games, I hear cheers that I never heard before. So, you know, I'm hearing that chair. I said, wow, how long have we done that?
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Coach K
And then we have this thing with a baby, you know, that we. It's like a baby dog that we throw up in the air and catch. I said, so we're using Volker language and beating up a baby.
Con Man
Duke.
Pat McAfee
Duke. Yeah, baby. That's what. That is crazy. What was it? That was your last year. Whenever you started yelling at him, too, remember? That was a big deal. When you go, hey, we like him. Yeah. What do we do?
Coach K
Well, I just thought. I thought they were on Jeff Capel, one of my guys who was coaching at pit, and I misunderstood it. But I'm always gonna dive on, dive on, on the floor for one of my guys.
Pat McAfee
So you're bopping wood for your guys. I understand. You're bopping wood.
Coach K
No, I. I slapped the floor.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah, you're bopping wood. We understand what you're saying. Let's. Let's talk about some of these theme bopping wood here in March Madness. Go ahead, Toad.
Gumpy
Yeah, Coach. Two parter, if you don't mind. Obviously, we watched last night, the 11 seeds play Texas wins and then another 11 seed battle tonight. Do you think these 11 seeds that win in the playing games have an advantage in the round of 64 against the six seeds? Because they've kind of. Maybe they've already got the nerves out. They've already got their first game under their feet. Do you think they have an advantage there and then I'm not sure. If you saw when Texas hit the go ahead shot with one second left, one of the assistant coaches ran onto the floor.
Pat McAfee
Floor.
Gumpy
What would you have done to your assistant coach if they would have done that?
Coach K
Well, the very first thing is, you're right. I think the 11th seed in the playing game has an advantage and they're from major, you know, Power 4 conferences. So they've just missed. So they're accustomed to playing and they've gotten over the nerves of playing. They've won. They have momentum, him going in. I think it's. I think your point is a good one. What happened when that assistant ran on the Floor, man, I would have. I would have done what Sean Miller did. Like, Sean Miller just went crazy on you. See how it. Yeah, yeah. He probably did it a lot faster than I could, but.
Pat McAfee
No, no, We've seen you have the juice out there. We've seen you move. We've seen you move and shake.
Coach K
The thing is, the assistants are supposed to be ready to make sure the players don't come out. So if the assistant comes out, what the hell's going on, man?
Pat McAfee
I don't know. It might be an indicating rude on what might happen in the future, but they were pumped.
Coach K
Sean reacted. Sean's. Sean's terrific. And what he. How he reacted, I think was exactly the way you should have reacted.
Pat McAfee
It was a phenomenal shot, too. I mean, the madness of March has already started, obviously, with the conference championships and then the playing games last night and then tomorrow. You know, this thing really dives in. We will be off tomorrow and Friday as we will be doing what everybody else will be doing, which is watching the madness together. I cannot wait for that. But I feel like something we as gamblers always realize in the first round of games. Go ahead, A.J.
AJ Hawk
yeah, coach, I'm sure you are aware of this, but it's been going on the Internet a little bit already this year.
Ty
These.
AJ Hawk
These. The basketball seem to be wildly overinflated in these. For some reason we turned on. It looks like these bright orange basketballs, like they changed things. Is this a thing and is it tougher to shoot?
Pat McAfee
I feel like when I'm honors is what we. Looks like.
AJ Hawk
Looks like a big rubber basketball you'd play outside with. They feel like they use.
Coach K
Well, I didn't know that, but I know one year, like in the ACC tournament, they brought out new balls. Like, I don't bring out a new ball.
Pat McAfee
I think that's every year it looks
AJ Hawk
like they're doing that.
Pat McAfee
I think that's recent, right?
Coach K
They need to be used. See, I think every conference tournament should use the. Whatever make a ball is used in the NCAA tournament. Like the ACC doesn't do that. I think that's a mistake egg. And then those balls can be. Have been used the week before or two weeks before. And to have brand new balls like that, that. I think that's not. That that's not good. And no, don't. What. Settle down there, Hatchet.
Pat McAfee
You see that? You see? And then I'm going right in the cookie jar. Right in the cookie jar.
AJ Hawk
It.
Pat McAfee
Boom.
AJ Hawk
Keep that left hand out. Don't thumb the ball.
Con Man
That elbow not Bad.
Coach K
Not bad.
Pat McAfee
Thank you.
Coach K
No, not bad. No, don't try it.
AJ Hawk
Here we go. Oh, yeah, this is.
Ty
Glass up.
AJ Hawk
You got another one.
Coach K
No, they're layups and offensive rebounds only. Okay, okay.
Con Man
One of those time you can shoot.
Coach K
In other words, get closer to the bucket.
Ty
Oh, you're on.
Coach K
No way.
Con Man
Is his closer.
AJ Hawk
No, he said no.
Coach K
No way.
AJ Hawk
He says no way.
Pat McAfee
Guys. Just Jason Tatum at halftime. You got anything else said? But. You got anything else?
Coach K
No way. No, there's. There's it. Try.
Pat McAfee
I thought you had it. I tell you what, that's over. Inflate bowl.
Coach K
I have a suggestion for you.
Pat McAfee
Okay?
Coach K
Try kicking it.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Coach K. Not if that ball would have rolled back.
Coach K
If you're that good of a punter,
Pat McAfee
man, you know, last time I kicked the ball, I ripped my hip flex. You remember that? I had to hold.
Con Man
Kicked it out of the stadium.
Pat McAfee
Kicked out of the stadium first. Last time I did, I kicked it out of the stadium. That lost the screen. I jogged off and I had blood in my leg for two months because I went, coach, what is the biggest thing we should look for tomorrow? You think what not. Maybe not the balls. Guys tight early, though, right? I think like early in games, nobody really wants to mess up or the
Coach K
underdog won't be tight, you know, and, and, you know, the, the. The closer it is with the. The seating, you know, the tighter you can. You can be. I, I think there's some really outstanding games this, this weekend. I. I'm interested in one of my guys, Johnny Dawkins at Central Florida against ucla. And if Dent is playing or not for ucla, you know, a lot of people are looking for the power four against the other conferences. The Midwest has some really great games. Akron against Texas Tech, I think is a fascinating game. St. Louis against Georgia. Santa Clara. Herb Sendak was one of the really against Kentucky. I think those are like really good games. And in our region, TCU and Ohio State.
AJ Hawk
Jamie Dixon, who's winning that one? Coach.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. A.J. hawk would like to know who you think's winning that one.
AJ Hawk
It's at noon tomorrow.
Coach K
I tend to think Ohio State, but Jamie Dixon is so damn good at tcu. But watch Saturday and Sunday, you know, because you have a chance to have. You're going to see Wisconsin and Arkansas playing the round of 32. The four or five point. Yeah. And Vandy and Nebraska. Vandy and Arkansas are fives. And both of them. Both of them could win their regions. You know, they are hot. You know, obviously with Arkansas, they have to me, the two Best players are our guy, Cam Booer and Auff from Arkansas and John Cal Perry's done a great job with his team and the Vandy team is hell. And what about on another round of third, St. John's and Kansas?
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah, another.
Dan Orlovsky
Are you kidding me?
Coach K
I just think they're more good games. Yeah, I'm anxious to stay to watch these and see what the hell happens. And then if I'm not on next week, I'll. I'll give you after watching because I'll watch these games even closer.
Pat McAfee
You'll watch them? You'll watch the games? You think you actually study?
Coach K
Yeah, I'll watch. I'll watch as long as.
Pat McAfee
I mean, I guess we're gonna find out if you're good at picking games or not, though, you know? Have you ever done this before? Publicly? I don't think so. All right. You've never said, like, your thoughts or opinions on how games could go. Have you done this before? I don't know.
Coach K
No, because I would. I'm only concerned about my game and, you know, the Duke game. You know, if I'm coaching, I'm not going. I'm not going to. I'm not going to go sightseeing through the NCAA tournament.
Pat McAfee
I understand. You got to be locked in for yours. Okay. We're excited.
Coach K
Catch my game and give it 100% stuff even, you know, like. Like when you go for a weekend, the favorites, the top seeds, they got to be careful that they. If they're playing on Thursday or Friday, that they don't assume they're playing on Saturday and Sunday. Because a lot of times we High will come up. Who beat us with CJ McCullough, Mercer. In my history, five dudes who were well coached. They kicked our butt. And I think a big part of that was we assumed that we were going to win.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Coach K
And then we got our ass kicked and. And we deserve to get it kicked.
Pat McAfee
Coach,
AJ Hawk
take another one.
Con Man
Get one more here. Maybe a pull up three.
Pat McAfee
Coach, if this goes in.
Coach K
I can't hear him.
Pat McAfee
If this goes in, everything you just
Con Man
said is accurate, okay? Okay.
Pat McAfee
If it doesn't go all. Okay, everything you just said.
Con Man
High point, money line.
Pat McAfee
This is the universe right here.
Ty
Okay?
Pat McAfee
Universe. Ball. Well, they ain't that nice. You know, I got guess. I guess the guy knows ball. That's what the universe is saying. Coach, we appreciate the hell out of you, man. We'll see you next week. If that didn't go in, fired for you. But we'll see you next week. I guess because that falls there.
Coach K
Very impressive. Very impressive.
Pat McAfee
Let's remember that for next week when you come on and we're going to be FaceTiming you throughout our drunk March Madness things. We. You don't have to answer, but if you do, we'll be very grateful.
Coach K
By the way, you know, I. You and Hawk face timey during my, my private time, my walk and whatever, my thinking time, and it got me all screwed up, man.
Pat McAfee
Well, we'll do that again next time you're walking. Yeah, yeah. No, no, no. We, we hope to find that again. What time was that? We'll try to lock that in. We'll try to get the private time in there because it felt like you were in the middle of a good sesh, you know, and then all of
Coach K
a sudden I was into so many good things and then after talking to two of you guys, I started walking sideways.
Pat McAfee
All right. Okay. Well, that might be, you know, they say age, you know, what is straight, what is it not? That might be on you, maybe not on us, but we appreciate the hell out of you. We can't wait for March Madness to get started and thank you for joining us.
Coach K
All right, see you guys.
Pat McAfee
And remember, drained it. You're the man. Ladies and gentlemen, Coach K.

Con Man
I mean don't sleep on Northern Iowa now though.
Pat McAfee
And he did make a couple picks there.
Con Man
Same with. Yeah, same with High Point. High Point.
Gumpy
He didn't like any upsets.
AJ Hawk
Does he ever fill a bracket out?
Gumpy
Yeah, every year.
Con Man
I doubt he just ra Duke in every single game.
AJ Hawk
That's kind of what I do.
Pat McAfee
I did FaceTime him because it was agreed that he was going to be coming on on this Wednesday. But I was like we haven't talked to him since literally being live. Live should just FaceTime and cold FaceTimes are of course some of the fun really in my life at this stage.
Con Man
Got one the other day. You had to hit one because you got a text who.
Pat McAfee
No, no, no.
Con Man
About going up to do someone's show up north before. Basketball player.
Pat McAfee
Oh yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was one of the greatest. Yeah, good call. Yeah, good call. We will not talk about that because it has a potential huge surprise. But yeah. Random text message. Think it's a catfish. Check with Mac. It's fee. Is this a fake number? Yeah. No it is not. Okay, let's do a cold facetime. But yeah, Coach K was in the middle of his workout so I guess he still is a very active person. He was in the middle of his walk. I don't know if it was a warm up before he was about to get work get after in the gym. But you could tell like when he answered it it was like I don't. He felt obligated to answer maybe who died.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, maybe sometimes like if. Yeah, if I call my mom, she's like what's wrong? Yeah, I guess I should call you more.
Pat McAfee
But boy, it wasn't just this was not going to be like a 32nder. Yeah. Settle in coach. We're here for.
AJ Hawk
He was awesome though. Like it was a beautiful day out. Was that the camp? Was he walking on campus?
Pat McAfee
I think so. Yeah. He's. I think he's walking around like actually shk.
Gumpy
He lives in the of Cameron.
AJ Hawk
Yeah. Have any of you guys ever been there?
Pat McAfee
Yes, I have. Thank you.
AJ Hawk
I've been to the arena but the crazies. It's awesome to watch but like it's it's only seats like 4000 or something. I bet it's the best place ever play.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, their fans love it. Like they're just kind of like, that's a part of it, right? They, they showed up for game day. Yeah, it was, it was very much like, I think the basketball crowd just showed up for game day. And I know game day goes there for basketball a lot, but for football, them showing up the way they did, it was, it was a surprise. It was a minus.
Con Man
Them winning the acc.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And then somehow, and then ruining the entire College Football playoff basically. Not ruining, I'm sorry, but throwing the entire college Football playoff thing into Miami and maybe because Manny's able to win that thing. Okay, let's talk about some stories around our football world. The NFL has agreed with the greatest catch up company on earth that if the NFL is happening, it's going to be Heinz ketchup. So the way it was kind of being reported by Mike Florio's pro football talk is like, hey, this doesn't, this is just another deal the NFL makes that is just kind of good for them. And Mike Floria knows this because he's from West Virginia. He's from the area, Mike. Roger Goodell walked into a stadium. They had some shitty ass ketchup in there. Probably red. We've seen these before. Red Gold's an Indiana company. But, so I apologize. I appreciate you guys doing what you're doing. But on that note, like, if I'm seeing that on anything where I go, I'm not happy throwing it out.
Coach K
Okay.
Pat McAfee
I, I, I'm going to be covering it just as I spray it, just covering the whole name.
Gumpy
I piss in bottles to make it taste better.
Con Man
You might as well spit on it
AJ Hawk
if you see that.
Pat McAfee
You should not do that.
Gumpy
Been eating a lot of pineapple.
Coach K
Okay.
Pat McAfee
I don't think that has to do. Yeah, I think that's a different, I think that's a different flavor. But on that note, if Roger Goodell walked into a stadium, there was some sort of ketchup that was not Heinz ketchup. And he said, I'm not doing this ever again. Somebody needs to change this. So boom, they change it. From our understanding, I did not read all the ins and outs of the deal, but I know that every thing that I do needs to make a similar deal. I need the Tropical Smoothie Cafe right down the street right here to make the same deal.
Gumpy
Okay.
Pat McAfee
I need the breakfast pancakes place. Right. That Lincoln Square.
Ty
Yeah, like square.
Pat McAfee
I need them to negotiate everywhere that I Go like what seemingly Roger Goodell did here, everywhere I go needs to have Heinz ketchup. We would like to negotiate or we would like Heinz to negotiate those deals with everything we do as well. Yeah, we like this move.
Con Man
Yeah. I believe it's also international, so I assume he might have gone to a shite.
Pat McAfee
Ketchup.
Ty
Exactly.
Con Man
Germany or England. You know, England beans and mash. Whatever they ketchup they put with that is probably absolute poop. So once he saw that, he said, hey, I need to bring the Heinz, the Pittsburgh ketchup to the rest of the world, not just the country.
Pat McAfee
And congrats to everybody. This is a win for everybody.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah.
Con Man
Australia, they're getting Heinz.
Gumpy
You're welcome.
Pat McAfee
And congrats, Ireland, they're going to be getting Hines. Ireland needs ranch.
Ty
And funny you mentioned that, because it's not just ketchup. They are actually it's Heinz entire family.
Coach K
Beautiful.
Ty
So if you want
Pat McAfee
the whole kit
Ty
kaboodle is what they signed the deal for.
Pat McAfee
Hines is about to make a bazillion dollars in Ireland.
Con Man
Yeah.
Gumpy
Did you ever wonder why there's any other ketchup companies, Like, I understand, like, why there's multiple pop companies, stuff like that, or any multiple mayonnaise companies. Yeah. Why do any other ketchup companies even exist?
Pat McAfee
I would assume because they tasted the nectar from Heinz and they said, wow, this is the stuff. And if you could put something on anything and make it better, like salt, you would like to capture that Heinz did that. These other people say, we like it so much, we're going to try to make a brand that can maybe be much cheaper and get into places and shittier. Yeah. And people that don't know Heinz might think that this is actually what it is. And then all of a sudden, people from Pittsburgh who put Heinz on everything get to their town and it rolls out and you know what? And they go, it's catsup. And I go, you don't get out of my face.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, please sell it. Wrong.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, exactly. I can't do it.
AJ Hawk
So what about McDonald's? What do they use? Because they're little. They put in the little back in the day. That's legit.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And then you put it in your barrel. Your fingers.
Coach K
Right.
Pat McAfee
You put them in between your fingers.
AJ Hawk
What do you mean?
Con Man
The fries.
Pat McAfee
You get the little ketchup thing. The little. The.
Coach K
The.
Gumpy
The circle cup.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. You fill that up, obviously. And then you put them in between your fingers. Oh, they show up with six of them things right here. Look at how much ketchup I got.
Con Man
Who wants.
Pat McAfee
You didn't do that.
AJ Hawk
I don't think I. Oh, so you
Pat McAfee
got chicken nuggets at McDonald's and only had one of those little things? Yeah, right.
AJ Hawk
I would grab a bunch of them, just put in my hands like this.
Gumpy
No.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but with your. Your product. Because your fingies can't.
AJ Hawk
Yeah. I don't know far enough apart, but I definitely am dipping my nugs in ketchup.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah, definitely in the nugs. And the fries are definitely.
AJ Hawk
I don't eat ketchup on fries, but yeah, nugs. I will.
Pat McAfee
What? You're raw dog and fries.
AJ Hawk
Oh, yeah. I don't hate it, but I. McDonald's.
Ty
Yeah, I don't need.
AJ Hawk
I won't do it.
Con Man
McDonald's fries are good enough to go without ketchup, but to never do it.
Pat McAfee
I don't even know why we do.
AJ Hawk
Never say never.
Ty
I have.
Con Man
You're psychopath.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but you don't like ketchup because.
AJ Hawk
No, no, I. I love ketchup. I mean, you don't love it like we do.
Pat McAfee
All right, let's move along, please. More NFL news. A tight end out of Notre Dame where was signed to the Indianapolis Colts. Congrats, cuz.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
This is Carson Tott. He. He played basketball his whole life, but they think his style of play and his build could bode well to him potentially transitioning to tight end. We have Mo Ali Cox. I believe he played for vcu, if I'm not mistaken. Had a great basketball run, came over here. We've had a train of tight ends that have played hoops that have come through Indianapolis, and obviously the NFL has seen a lot of hoops. Cooper's transition into the tight end role. Antonio Gates is like the easiest one to kind of point as a massive success story out of Kent State. But the body type, the athleticism, the ability to catch and box out, the only issue is can they block? Can they get physical? They're saying that tout here. And just by looking at him, I'm thinking he might be able to get a little physical out there.
AJ Hawk
Aj I'm thinking he can't too. But I mean, the fact that he said he's never played football at any level, that's a bit surprising. I mean, I know he's a freak athlete. He's very physical. Dude, dude, they're not going to take a shot on him. He doesn't have a chance. See, I hope he makes the team.
Gumpy
Jimmy Graham, Another one.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. There's a lot of questions.
AJ Hawk
Played football but he's just really good.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but how did we immediately get to just sign him, too? Like.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, they had to be kicking the tires for a while.
Pat McAfee
Doesn't he have to go through the draft?
AJ Hawk
Great question.
Pat McAfee
If he didn't play? I guess he doesn't.
Gumpy
I think they were like, if a team is so desperate, we'll just let them do this.
Pat McAfee
Desperation is not what made this decision. This is a what if he said
AJ Hawk
that, though, Hey, I don't want to sign because what if I get drafted?
Con Man
I mean, he's got a point.
Ty
This does kind of reek of desperation.
Con Man
Is this guy taking Tyler Warren spot?
Coach K
Huh?
Gumpy
Taking.
Con Man
Sounds like this is just a.
Ty
Hey, let's.
Pat McAfee
Let's stir up some.
AJ Hawk
Some hype.
Con Man
Let's get some people excited.
Pat McAfee
That's not what the.
Gumpy
Let's get Northern Indiana pumped about the season.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Hey, why? Because they're getting the Bears in a couple years.
Con Man
Let's win over the Notre Dame fans.
Pat McAfee
How can tout sign without going through draft process? Let's ask an AI. The NFL is different than the NBA. For the NFL, if a person has never played college football but is at least three years removed from his high school graduation date, that person can sign with any NFL team willing to do so.
Ty
And no one else was going to sign him, obviously.
Con Man
So they're not that dumb.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, right. If he would have came through the combine, they're saying 28 out of 32 had him on board. That's right.
Con Man
Just like a board.
AJ Hawk
Like, hey, this would be a good
Con Man
story for us, too.
Pat McAfee
What's that?
AJ Hawk
I think he went to the combine, but he just.
Ty
He talked.
AJ Hawk
He spoke to people. I don't think he actually partook.
Pat McAfee
Teams have called the Miami Dolphins to inquire about trading for running back Devon Hn. They've been told that he is not available. We're done with this. What you guys are doing here with the Colts, okay, this is a big move. This is. Ballard is thinking about the future.
AJ Hawk
Foot eight. Think about it. He's a race.
Dan Orlovsky
Johnny Dot.
Ty
What's his name?
Gumpy
Carson
Pat McAfee
Dot.
AJ Hawk
Tyler Warren's gonna chew this guy up
Con Man
and spit him out in practice.
Pat McAfee
They're teammates. Oh, big basketball guy, huh?
AJ Hawk
Welcome to football.
Pat McAfee
Just wait till we're going 13. Tyler Warren, Mo. Ali Cox Dot. Jonathan Taylor.
Con Man
Gain of two.
Pat McAfee
Daniel. Second and eight, brother.
Con Man
Let's see what we can put together now.
Pat McAfee
The Miami Dolphins are in a mass exodus. Running back Devon H. Hand will not be a part of that, is what has been said. People are on TV this morning. Saying that their sources are indicating that Miami is willing to hang on to him and they view him as a massive A piece for the future. Gumpy, does that make you happy or sad? And will you buy his jersey? Because every other jersey you own has been shipped out the door.
Gumpy
There's an HN jersey hanging in my locker, so we're good to go. I love that they're keeping him. There was a clip of Sully when he first joined the Dolphins. He said he wanted to build around a few guys. He didn't mention waddle. He said Brooks, Brewer, Patrick, Paul and hn. So at least we're keeping some of our guys.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I like that you're keeping some of your guys. I also like the fact that that Miami Dolphins aren't scheduled to win till 2028. Says Dan. We got 100.
Gumpy
We got 127 million in cap space next year.
Pat McAfee
You're talking about next year like following this one. Okay. Cuz this one would be considered next one, you know.
Gumpy
Okay, well, 2026 is over, so.
Pat McAfee
2026.
Gumpy
20, 2026.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So we're Lovski. I appreciate that. Congratulations to you guys and good luck to Malik Willis. You finally did it. Yeah. He got an opportunity to be the guy to place. And there'll be good players down there for sure. Somewhere. It's the NFL. It's the NFL. There will be good players. And maybe Halfley, he's able to motivate the boys and get some wins down there for Miami. After being down there, I'll tell you, I could see how people would definitely get bored with the Dolphins if they're not good. Sure. I could see how there'd be other stuff to do. Hopefully that doesn't happen. Hopefully the Dolphins can continue to be 12 and a half billion dollar property. Property and maybe even win some games. We appreciate everybody so much for allowing us to do this for a living. The next two days we'll be off for March Madness alongside everybody, Con Man. This is a special time for the program. We kind of get. We started this one last year.
Con Man
Yeah, last year. First year.
Pat McAfee
This is a good move.
Gumpy
Great move.
Pat McAfee
It's a good move. Yeah. Yeah. So look for IG stories tomorrow to be popping. We're learning is the thing because before
Ty
last year we didn't really know it, but we just did the worst show of the year because we'd put a TV right here. Just watch the game anyway and then every once in a while kind of
Pat McAfee
just be oh, oh, oh. But we would stack it with guests Y. Yeah. And obviously we would tell the guests ahead of time, hey, we're watching the game. Yeah.
Ty
So just go.
Pat McAfee
We need you to just. We'll ask you a question. You do your thing. You'll hear us respond in the background. Something happened in the game. We will stop you. We will update the game, then we will try to reload you. Thanks, Lambo. And it's got.
Con Man
Miss you, Lambo.
Pat McAfee
Lambo did that. I think Van Noy did that for us a couple times. He just signed with Yahoo.
Dan Orlovsky
Did he?
AJ Hawk
Yeah, Van Noy.
Con Man
Van Yaw.
Gumpy
He's called Frank Games.
Pat McAfee
No, I think he's con. I think he's doing some content for them. Some sort. Maybe a podcast. We would love to have Van Noy back in the building. I think it's on me. I didn't text him after the. Well, he still doesn't know if he's
Gumpy
going to play yet.
Ty
He said he's waiting.
AJ Hawk
You know, after the draft, someone will probably sign him.
Pat McAfee
But what if. What if the Ravens do the whole Max Crosby thing?
Con Man
Yeah. Come on in, Kyle.
Pat McAfee
Come on. Put you on the practice squad.
Con Man
And then when he meets Mentor. Mentor's just looking around and not.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Max Crosby said, I dapped up the coach for four hours. In five hours, it was sweet to go meet him. Weird energy.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Just kind of looked at me. I was like, oh, okay, this guy's a weirdo. I guess that's going to be cool. It'd be a little different.
Con Man
Baratsi, man.
Pat McAfee
Just traded two ones for this guy. This guy thinks there's maybe a Laramie Tunzel. Sit. You guys just trade two ones. He's your franchise player. Oh, my God, Here we go. This is a big deal. He gets there, put him in a room. I don't want anybody to see him. What's going on? I'm here to have my family. Can I meet the G him later? What the hell's going on here? Get me out of here. The Rangers are making plays. We'll see you on Monday. Be a friend. Tell friends something nice might change your life. Goodbye. One of those was off the bottom or the clock? I don't know what it was.
Con Man
There's going to be some of that this weekend in March Madness.
Pat McAfee
Clock off.
Con Man
Yeah. Someone gets the ball in maybe a half a second.
AJ Hawk
How did Coach K not know that the balls are bad?
Pat McAfee
Because he doesn't think about it. No excuses.
Dan Orlovsky
Yeah, yeah.
Con Man
He's all about his ball.
Pat McAfee
Do you think he wants to hear about a ball that both teams are playing with? Not being shootable. Yeah right.
AJ Hawk
It's a real thing. I remember a couple years. I don't know how many years how long it's been going on last big problem. Super orange like it was brighter than normal. And you see this clip? I mean that is not normal at all. What's that through the window?
Gumpy
You nailed it.
Pat McAfee
Okay, sick.
Gumpy
You went off at zero.
AJ Hawk
Oh good.
Pat McAfee
Oh so on the screen at zero hit.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Okay so it's clock.
Con Man
That was a second.
AJ Hawk
We can have a game like A team win 32 to 30 tonight or something with these stupid balls.
Pat McAfee
No. So team ride tonight. I need to get back actually I have no money in my account.
AJ Hawk
We can't take Miami over.
Gumpy
How come you don't have any money in your account?
Pat McAfee
I spent all on TBSA last night.
Gumpy
Who let you down? Specifically from that team would you say
Pat McAfee
every one of them I put.
Con Man
We can't do this gentlemen. We like baseball. We like these boys.
Gumpy
I agree.
Con Man
Okay. I don't want I I don't want to do this.
AJ Hawk
Just felt like if it was a series we win. That's why the world Series that's part
Con Man
of the joke that one hit people
Pat McAfee
are saying that maybe the team thought that it was a best of three people.
Ty
The rock Rosa was saying post game no big deal.
Pat McAfee
We'll get him tomorrow.
Gumpy
And I like I did we didn't like that.
AJ Hawk
So where's the Rosa go now? Back to his show MLB network.
Pat McAfee
I hope D Ro hit the beach bro.
Gumpy
Bring him back for the playoffs. Give him the regular season.
Pat McAfee
All everybody in baseball was trying he needs a vacation. Seemingly fire. He does. I'll tell you whatever's rule this is something that needs to be talked about. About I near I never in my entire life book it non military member. Okay, let me sanction that. I've never seen a non military member look better for the national anthem than D. Ro. Can you show us D. Ro had hat? What are you laughing about? I'm actually kind of. He had I'm telling you you hat perfectly like the brim of the hat around here over chest and I don't think the blinked for the entire since O all the way to E at the end. I don't think he blinked one time and they had a jib working around his face and it was on the the big jumbotron. He was right in front of me and he couldn't help but just say holy skip looks good. You know he looks confident. Okay. He didn't blink.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Con Man
I watched a YouTube video before the Game how to do the national anthem.
Pat McAfee
Well, good. I think you nailed it.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, you got it.
Pat McAfee
Venezuela's national anthem. I'll tell you what, it's like seven minutes long.
AJ Hawk
Is it a more upbeat?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah.
Ty
They say sing it.
Con Man
It ends on like so much fun.
Pat McAfee
Dude, it was. It was 10 minutes long. It had to be, you know, because I've seen. I think it was who's sprinter from Jamaica? I think it was Bolt. At one of the Olympic events where the United States of America national anthem plays. He's in the middle of an interview and he says, the national anthem is on right now, so I'm gonna stop. And he stopped and like did this and then he went back to the interview or whatever. And I remember making its way around the Internet like this is how somebody from another country is showcasing our national anthem verse. Like everything else that was happening at the time or whatever. So as Venezuela's about to play the national anthem, I'm thinking like, oh, I'm that fucking guy right now. Like, let's show some fucking respect here. Stand up, take the hat off, do the entire thing. And then it starts and I'm like, oh, that's an interesting vibe. And then it's like 90 seconds in. I'm like, there's seemingly nowhere near the end of this thing. And they. Every word, really, every word. Howling the whole place. I mean, it was. You couldn't help it. And then national anthem follows that and it's like we got a 75 second little instrumental about to take place. Boys were all lip. Lip syncing. Who I saw. Well, D. Wroe.
Con Man
Who?
Pat McAfee
Which boys, there better be a photo of D. Ro for that national.
Gumpy
Anthony, I. I saw the Internet was saying they were surprised that Team USA didn't play in fatigues and combat boots.
AJ Hawk
All right, why you say that?
Pat McAfee
Cuz Mikuya talked to him before Dominican Republic game. And guess what? Mikuya won. Okay. Yeah. Who did speak to Team USA last night? We'll never know.
Con Man
They just watched Zero Dark Thirty and then.
Pat McAfee
Then just hit the field.
AJ Hawk
It's a good movie.
Pat McAfee
They should have been watching the Pacer. Is that what they call them? That was his nickname, Pacer or something like that, yeah. You didn't see the movie? You don't know how Ben Laden died? We're talking about Makuya.
AJ Hawk
Oh, okay.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ty
You don't know you support the troops?
Pat McAfee
Oh, no, that's what it sounds like. Yeah. Wow. It's weird.
AJ Hawk
I won't even respond to that question.
Pat McAfee
But yeah, yeah, the pace.
AJ Hawk
Oh, from zero. Doc 30. Yeah. The redhead girl, she's the CIA lady who.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah,
AJ Hawk
I met Makuya. Rob O'. Neal. Sorry. About a month. About a month before he went. About a month. McDonald's his name. Handle.
Con Man
You're talking.
Ty
The hell's wrong with you?
Pat McAfee
Are you okay? Can you go back, please? Can you tell us about meeting.
AJ Hawk
I meant he came to Green Bay about a month before he went public with saying, hey, I shot that guy in the head.
Pat McAfee
You spit in his face?
AJ Hawk
No, not at all. But he said. Because our one trainer said, hey, I'm pretty sure he. This is the guy got bin Laden. I talked to him. He was great. And he said. I asked him, like, what do you got going on? He goes, I got. I got something pretty big coming up here in a little bit about a couple weeks, and then I'll be doing some more after that. I'm like, okay. And then, boom, he went public.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And I think every other branch of the military will say, of course, the Navy SEAL wants everybody know, oh, yeah,
AJ Hawk
there's all kind of infighting.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, there's a lot of that. And I think he probably knew that was going to happen whenever it was coming. But I think somebody else was also getting credit for it at some point. And then, you know, so. And I assume there are people like, hey, somebody's going to get credit for this. If it was actually you, somebody else has already taken it. So maybe you should think about it. And then as soon as you do that, then you become the guy that wanted to get the credit for something. And then the military people get mad at you. But then it's also an incredibly inspirational story about execution and how you kind of go actual, but also preparation, too.
AJ Hawk
How they practiced on, like, the mockup building here. That's what I thought was cool. Like, they. These guys aren't just rolling in there.
Pat McAfee
No, they.
AJ Hawk
They precise. And then helicopter crashes. Like, it's.
Pat McAfee
It's pretty crazy. So he's from Montana, I do believe, but I believe he's from Butte, Montana. And that's where Colt Anderson, the Montana, the original Montana mole, is from. And he was down at a Miami Dolphins game. I think Mikuya was probably something similar talking to you. And then Colt introduced me to him. This is before it all came out. I guess he had two bullets tattooed, so.
AJ Hawk
He did.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. It was like, hey, go ask him about what those. What those are. Colt was like, wanting to tell me. He said, I can't tell you, but you need to. You need to go ask. We never Got a chance to. And then we would find out later.
AJ Hawk
John Cena was taking credit for that.
Pat McAfee
Well, he announced it.
Gumpy
He announced it.
Pat McAfee
We got him. That was May 1st. My birthday's May 2nd. We had a hell of a time. We. We did get him. We did. John Cena and I had a good
Con Man
time, ladies and gentlemen.
Pat McAfee
We killed him.
Con Man
Caught, captured, compromised to a permanent end.
Pat McAfee
How about him running back in for a faction before you get out of here tonight? How about Vincent Van Gogh? Cena.
Ty
Yeah, Go, go.
Pat McAfee
It's you, right?
Gumpy
You have all the chaos.
Pat McAfee
I'm not gonna announce it. You want me to do it or the Marine get out there. You're right. I'll. This is the biggest. A lot of people learned.
Ty
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
AJ Hawk
Oh, yeah. Incredible.
Pat McAfee
Good run, Cena.
AJ Hawk
He's not. He hasn't come back.
Con Man
He's never coming back.
Pat McAfee
I know.
AJ Hawk
He said. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
He said, question is integrity. The guy announced.
AJ Hawk
Guys won't even let me call him a liar.
Con Man
Go ahead.
Pat McAfee
Just call him.
AJ Hawk
L. I didn't call him a liar. I'm asking.
Pat McAfee
I asked him that question. Then he said, I really appreciate you questioning my integrity right here.
AJ Hawk
You really think I'm a piece of garbage, huh?
Pat McAfee
Oh, my God. I was like, wow, that's an incredible angle. You just flipped that up, John.
AJ Hawk
I thought we were. Thought it was a little bit of a character as well.
Pat McAfee
I don't want to pick the bracket. You want to pick the bracket?
AJ Hawk
Sure.
Ty
He just said he didn't want.
Pat McAfee
Let's take a break on the other side. Private time.
AJ Hawk
Like in my private time, when I pick a bracket for you. I didn't mean now.
Pat McAfee
Well, I got.
Gumpy
No, just do the first round. Don't have to do full thing. Just first round. Or maybe just your final four.
Con Man
What? You guys have the same winner.
AJ Hawk
I asked him before.
Pat McAfee
Give me the J, Will. Yeah, I'll take the J. Will.
Gumpy
I also have the J.
AJ Hawk
Will I take Duke winning since I've been, like, eight years old.
Con Man
That's.
Pat McAfee
No, no. You're doing that this year because it's number one. Ever seen coach say you don't know anything about ball?
AJ Hawk
They're always number one. I don't know a whole lot about college ball.
Pat McAfee
Not gonna lie. I don't either. Thank God. I lost all my money on baseball. I don't know about last night, so I can't do it again for March Madness tomorrow. Actually feels like I'm staring down another deposit
Con Man
down.
Pat McAfee
They're gonna send me that video again. Hey, Dip, you sure you can Actually publicly exclude yourself from. From this company for 10 years. If you'd like to do that, just press this button right now. Say, hey, DraftKings. I appreciate you taking the steps to protect me from me. Okay. The bats were supposed to get hot.
Gumpy
They were.
Ty
And they didn't.
AJ Hawk
Can they shut you down?
Pat McAfee
So much money.
Con Man
DraftKings off of all historically for bats.
Gumpy
By the way, why'd the guy wearing the Jack Hughes tarp not start?
Pat McAfee
Let's get that guy's puck too.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Guy still doesn't have teeth.
Ty
I know.
Pat McAfee
For America.
Gumpy
Give it back.
Con Man
Canada.
Gumpy
Why did Gunner Henderson outside?
Pat McAfee
He got a bat late. He looked good. Yeah, well, I heard there's a lefty, righty thing. I'm like, well, what about just being in his own skip? And then you hear like, well, why didn't Mason Miller come in at the end? Grim reaper? And he's like, well, I wasn't allowed to. And they're like, okay, all right. Yeah, fair, fair. Nobody's really thinking about what teams are telling old D. Row. Literally probably in his ear while he's sitting in the dugout. Like, don't you even. Hey, no, no. We gave you two innings last week.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
We are not doing this again. Yeah.
AJ Hawk
Oh, nice.
Ty
You want to win the World Baseball Classic? We just traded our entire farm system for this guy.
Pat McAfee
He's not pitching tonight. Can I get. Can I get nine? No, no, no pitch.
Ty
And don't ask me again.
Pat McAfee
And also, we're not telling anybody we're saying that. So.
Ty
So you're gonna have to eat all this.
Pat McAfee
That's D Row baseball. That is what D. Ro has been dodging through here.
AJ Hawk
That'd be terrible.
Pat McAfee
That's. And D. Ro said I'd like to do it again. And then we got thumbs down happening. Who thumbs it down.
AJ Hawk
I saw a couple. Did Foxy did who you want in there.
Pat McAfee
And I message, I wish you had a function where you could go two thumbs down. Cuz that's what I would have.
AJ Hawk
Should be on that. They should have that. You're right.
Pat McAfee
And AJ to answer your question, who do I want in there? Bam. This guy, Jim Leland. The only guy to ever win it for America.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
He either Jim Leland or Sean Casey.
Pat McAfee
Well, if Jim Leland's in Sean Casey. Yeah, you're right. And on that note, you're right.
AJ Hawk
He kept him up a little bit late telling stories. You're right.
Con Man
I don't know if he's the manager.
Pat McAfee
I think he's good for the team morale.
Gumpy
Okay, agreed.
Pat McAfee
In Sean Casey Will operate how he is told to operate. Hey, need to win the game tomorrow. Let's get the stories of resilience out here.
Gumpy
About 3, 4am he got his orders,
Pat McAfee
you know what I mean? As opposed to big pop celebratory stories, which I assume he told. The John Cena story.
Coach K
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Sean Casey's John Cena story is one of the greatest of all time. One of the greatest. Well, I assume that got a huge pop out of the boys. And then that immediately follows up to. Oh, there's one time I was.
AJ Hawk
Can you imagine tapping guys on the shoulder? Like they're all sitting down. He's stand up in the middle of
Pat McAfee
them and they're all like, we're in, we're in, we're in. And Sean Casey's like, I got another we're in story. Hold on. And then he goes in. You know, so that was probably what it was. And they were having beers and pops and, you know, D. Ro says in the room, it just. This is the most important thing in their life.
AJ Hawk
They must have different rules for the World Baseball Classic because that's a lot of old savvy vets are pissed that they took booze out of the clubhouse in the major leagues.
Con Man
I don't think they did it for the World Baseball Classic, you're saying.
AJ Hawk
That's what I'm saying. They had rules.
Pat McAfee
I think there's some players that are still boozing pretty good.
AJ Hawk
They used to like, provide it and let him. But then of course, someone got a DUI or got in trouble and they. They took it out.
Pat McAfee
Oh, that's like NFL flames.
Coach K
Planes.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, NFL planes.
AJ Hawk
Three beers used to be at all. Every. When I. When I first got on, they took three beers in each seat on the airplane. It took away right before I got
Gumpy
ice cold beers or were they in
AJ Hawk
a cooler, ice cooled in a bag? They said. So like, some guys, like, it's great because, you know, there's always guys don't drink. So I got 40 of them.
Pat McAfee
You know, I was my rookie year, I had to bring a cartoon sized bottle of whiskey every week. That was kind of what I had to do. And did you have to sneak it? I mean, probably. I don't know. I watched Blow so many times. George Young. We put that. No problem.
Con Man
Simple.
Pat McAfee
We put a T shirt over top of that thing. We put pants over the top of that thing. You know, there's other stuff probably in there as well, but yeah, I had to bring that every single time. And then I would hand it off. They definitely have new flight attendants at this time.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Shout to that OG flight attendant cruiser. I don't know if you're still watching or not, but you were a fucking.
AJ Hawk
Yep, that was the thing.
Pat McAfee
There are some road dogs in that flight attendant crew. Immediately upon getting there, straight to the flight attendants. Flight attendants would then take it to the back where the beers were and everything like that. Some other rookie was bringing the beers. Then they would have that entire thing set up for a trip back home, you know, so then whenever we get on to head back home, it was like, literally, you're just walking into a. There was already music on the phone thing playing. It was like the moment like, hey, we want a game on the.
AJ Hawk
So. So I lift all them lakes.
Pat McAfee
This is what we are here. Those planes were the greatest. I mean, those are some of the best times I've ever had in my entire life, I think. Absolutely. And yeah, then, you know, someone. I guess at some point people got to get from airport to home, though. And not everybody sets up cars, you know, a lot. Lot of cars were being set up for a lot of people before Uber. But then. Yes.
Coach K
So.
Pat McAfee
And also the OGs of the team were setting up cars for people, you know, like, hey, this is going to happen. Freny set up a couple cars for me. Very thankful for him because he kind of gave me the game. I was playing in a card game with him on the plane for M&M's. Maybe thousands and thousands and thousands of M&M's at that time. Peanut butter. Peanut M M's. Very good. And booze them pretty heavy. Sure, Booze them pretty. Pretty good. And then, like, you know, Freeney does an immediate like, hey, how you getting home? It's like, ah, oh, there's a car out there somewhere. I'm whipping it. He's like, absolutely not. You are not. And I'm like, cool.
AJ Hawk
It's a good team.
Pat McAfee
That was like a part of it, though. That. That felt like that was kind of a part of it. And then I think some places didn't have that. And I think there was guys.
AJ Hawk
Some people have long commutes home.
Pat McAfee
Yes. Not in India. I'm talking about in the NFL as a whole.
AJ Hawk
Everywhere.
Pat McAfee
Like, India was like, very much like, Like. Cause obviously we've got cops on a plane, too, so they all kind of understand. And there's drivers waiting outside. And it's like, hey, everybody kind of understands what's happening. And then there's like, hey, this club is open if we want to go here. This place is Open if we want to go here. So it ended up becoming like trains to places almost, you know, and it was like almost super. I don't want to say like supervised, but kind of like this is how we do this shit around here. And oh yeah, tomorrow all this is over. We're trying to go to the next week. It was like a really cool part of the culture, I think that they established. I'm not saying I was anywhere part of that was like their culture. But then remember, I think around the league that wasn't.
AJ Hawk
Coaches got DUI players crashing.
Pat McAfee
Coaches did, yeah.
AJ Hawk
There's some coaches got a couple.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I'm still coaching some of these guys.
AJ Hawk
Oh yeah, that was.
Gumpy
That was a big win.
Pat McAfee
Pretty recent. That was a huge win, man. He should have. He was doing his dance once again, that is where somebody should have been like, hey, you definitely celebrate also.
Gumpy
That was big win for him.
Pat McAfee
You're in this one here. And that's what we got to do with society nowadays. You got to do that to your friends. Some people are very hard headed and don't listen though. Yeah, it's a shame.
Con Man
That's part of the game.
AJ Hawk
Well, there's a generation of people a little older than us that have never like, they think they become a better driver. And they've never thought about a DUI in Ohio.
Pat McAfee
Definitely. Yeah.
AJ Hawk
It freaks me out. They're like, what are you like, you ask them like, hey, man, you had like 19 beers and five shots. Like, well, I'm a better driver now. I'm like, okay. Are we really. Is that really where we're still living in?
Pat McAfee
I have a friend that's been to Ohio DUI camp, which is a week weekend, right? Five times.
AJ Hawk
They just learn. I got plenty of buddies that have been in there. They learn from in there of how to like see their booze. Oh, I brought a tube. I ran up from my radiator and they're talking about how they can drink
Pat McAfee
in their car because there's a blow and go. How to get around the blow. Yeah, it was like, I don't think these drunks should be around each other,
Con Man
but they have exchanging, talking, gossiping like,
AJ Hawk
George Young went to prison. He got his PhD in like.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
In smuggling.
Pat McAfee
Bingo. What it is as a.
AJ Hawk
What is that?
Pat McAfee
Oh, what do you say? I forget what he said. What a good move. I went in as a. Every time I drop, I'm George Young to somebody and then I walk out. Whenever they're talking about me going to other states that are legal. Never bring it Back to Indiana. We never do that. We should legalize it, though. I got the two names. We're gonna start lobbying soon. But every time I say, hi, George Young, the out of this thing, the person that I'm talking to doesn't get it. And then I hear them, like, 15 seconds later go, oh, yeah, George Young was doing that.
Con Man
Whoa.
Pat McAfee
Black Betty.
AJ Hawk
Remember the big guy, too. What's the big guy's name in the movie? Who's actually in very good shape now.
Con Man
Oh, Lou last.
Ty
Yeah. Ethan Supl.
Pat McAfee
What was he in? He was in
Gumpy
Titans.
Ty
No, you're thinking of Donkey Lips. That's. He was not in Salute your shorts.
AJ Hawk
Oh.
Ty
I believe Donkey Lips is still in search of a new kidney. He was.
AJ Hawk
Who was.
Ty
He was reaching out. He was reaching out to DD DP saying, hey, I need you to save my life with the yoga.
Pat McAfee
Donkey Lips has done enough for me. I would say the famous quote from below is, danbury wasn't a prison. It was a crime school. I went in with a bachelor of Marijuana. Came out with a doctorate of cocaine.
Gumpy
Nice.
Pat McAfee
I'll tell you what, his doctorate was good until they got him in that last round table. He was free.
AJ Hawk
His buddy screwed him.
Pat McAfee
He was so. He was there. Think about the weight that came off of his shoulders when he was sitting down there. Oh, my God, I did it. And then as the walls pick up, and then as you're in jail for the rest of your life, your daughter's gonna hate you. Yeah. And George, like, charges to the game, I guess, right? To happen that George.
AJ Hawk
Yes.
Pat McAfee
He. I don't know.
AJ Hawk
He definitely got out, though.
Con Man
He did get out for like a year or two, but then he passed away.
AJ Hawk
Sam Herd's getting out sooner.
Con Man
He did get out.
Pat McAfee
Sam Herd. What a legendary NFL story that is.
AJ Hawk
Yes.
Pat McAfee
That guy was playing special teams on Sunday and then moving kilos at like.
AJ Hawk
At like Reese Chris, like, walking in,
Pat McAfee
George Young walking out. Georgia Young. This guy just carried his own in. Carried his own out, delivered the money. Yeah, but who do you work for? Me? Who works for you? Me? Yeah. It's like Sam heard cut out all the.
AJ Hawk
I know.
Pat McAfee
And they're like, well, he's going to rat on somebody above him. It's like, no, you're looking. Sam's pretty high up there. That was crazy. He was running two really Football business in the nap.
Gumpy
George has passed.
Pat McAfee
Rest in peace, George.
Con Man
I didn't.
Gumpy
Had no idea that's how you spell his name.
Pat McAfee
J, U, N, G. Come on, dude. Study a little bit about the drug trafficking. Trade, brother.
Gumpy
That's all me.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Cocaine. Cowboys should be next till you learn about that. That whole gimmick. They had planes. Let's get to a break on the other side. We'll pick a bracket because AJ wants to do it. Great age.
AJ Hawk
I never said that.
Pat McAfee
You did. You did.
Gumpy
I never said that.
Pat McAfee
You look good in that, son.
Con Man
Brad.
AJ Hawk
Super cheap.
Pat McAfee
Did Tyg win the.
Gumpy
Yes, actually.
Pat McAfee
He won it.
AJ Hawk
They won last night.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Con Man
Bbcgc. Huge offset.
Pat McAfee
Wow. That's awesome. We're gonna see that again. We think. We think we're ever gonna see that again.
AJ Hawk
What do you mean?
Pat McAfee
Tgl. They spent a lot of money in those little arenas.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, little.
Pat McAfee
Sorry. They spend a lot of money in this super cool looking arenas.
AJ Hawk
Gigantic.
Pat McAfee
How many of them are there?
Coach K
Two.
AJ Hawk
I think there's only one.
Gumpy
LA and Florida wasn't there la.
AJ Hawk
Is there an LA one?
Pat McAfee
I thought they were making another. Only one right now, but I thought they were making another. In theory. We could turn this place into one of those.
Gumpy
There's a big.
AJ Hawk
I know. I think they're.
Con Man
The screens themselves are like 70ft.
AJ Hawk
They're huge.
Pat McAfee
You could have a small sim, though. I think the sim part of it doesn't matter as much. You could have the sim we have. You would just need 50 yards for an approach shot. I believe they have 50 yards and then the green. So if we have the sim up there, you're hopping on like a fireman's pole down to the green down here.
AJ Hawk
You should have one.
Pat McAfee
A fireman su. Yeah, I wouldn't mind. You want to ride that pole or something? I heard about you R. I see what you're doing. You like riding poles.
AJ Hawk
I've been looking at. What if you put a fire. Wouldn't you want a fire pole in your house or what?
Gumpy
Why?
AJ Hawk
To jump down and slide to the. The first level from the second.
Pat McAfee
Are you using your feet like somebody that understands what they're doing or using your hands?
AJ Hawk
I'm just like. I'll have. I'll bring a. I'll get a veteran firefighter and say, please teach me.
Pat McAfee
You'll say sir. Nice mustache. No.
Con Man
Or.
AJ Hawk
Or ma'.
Pat McAfee
Am.
AJ Hawk
I'll say sir or ma' am fire person.
Pat McAfee
You're right. And if the fire chief has a name that is both ways.
AJ Hawk
Like what?
Pat McAfee
Like Pat.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You know, it could be a male or female. It's from snl. I appreciate you doing that. Don't always just assume it's a dude in your email.
Coach K
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
That was bad play.
Con Man
But it might be A Patricia.
Pat McAfee
That was a bad play by me.
Gumpy
AJ could be both, too.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Thank you, sir. I sent back with authority. Bam. That's not the first time that has
AJ Hawk
happened to that person, though.
Pat McAfee
I know, but I felt like an. Because that person was doing. That lady was doing so much for us. The.
Coach K
At.
Pat McAfee
At the time. It was only via digital. It was only via digital.
Con Man
That's the problem with text.
Pat McAfee
Well, there was no.
Con Man
You don't know the headshot.
Pat McAfee
She.
Ty
Yeah, she.
Pat McAfee
Pronoun. Her.
AJ Hawk
Yep.
Ty
Didn't show her hands at all.
Pat McAfee
And, yeah, she's great. I think she's still doing it. I think she's still doing it.
Gumpy
Still bringing it.
Pat McAfee
All right, let's make this bracket selection, shall we?
AJ Hawk
We shall.
Con Man
We're doing both.
AJ Hawk
What do you mean, both?
Pat McAfee
The Super Duper crown.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And. And March Madness.
Ty
Yeah.
Gumpy
And nit.
Pat McAfee
Let's do the Super Duper Crown one now. Can we pull that up?
AJ Hawk
There's only three teams. We can do it.
Ty
There's eight.
AJ Hawk
And it kicks off, what, May 15th.
Pat McAfee
Why are you making a mockery out of everything?
Gumpy
Okay, let's do this.
Pat McAfee
It's a college basketball crown. Oklahoma will take on Colorado. Buffalo. Wednesday, April 1st.
Con Man
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
All right.
Con Man
It's a while from now.
Pat McAfee
Okay, who do you got, Oklahoma or Colorado? There, A.J.
AJ Hawk
i'll take Oklahoma.
Pat McAfee
All right, Boomer. Overall there. Baylor versus Minnesota. Also happening on April 4th.
AJ Hawk
Minnesota.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so we got Oklahoma and Minnesota. They'll be taking on the winners of.
AJ Hawk
You mean the blue team.
Pat McAfee
Okay, the Toronto.
Ty
Creighton.
Pat McAfee
Okay, Creighton.
AJ Hawk
Now I'll take Ruckers.
Pat McAfee
Okay, Ruckers. And then they'll be taking on.
AJ Hawk
Who should I take in this?
Pat McAfee
West Virginia. West Virginia. Ruckers. Old Big east match up here to find out who's going to take on Oklahoma. Minnesota. Minnesota. Who do you have in the left bracket? The April Fools bracket.
AJ Hawk
We'll say I'm taking Minnesota to go to the finals.
Pat McAfee
Okay, Minnesota. The Gophers are row, row, row in the boat all the way to the championship of the super duper college basketball crown. And they'll be taking on who?
AJ Hawk
West Virginia in honor of Bob Huggins. Okay.
Pat McAfee
Bob Huggins. Not. Not the coach there anymore, but certainly
AJ Hawk
a legend he was when I was a kid.
Con Man
He wasn't stand for.
AJ Hawk
No.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I don't know. It depends on how much they're winning and what the. What everything else is. So it's West Virginia versus the Minnesota Gophers in a Super Duper college basketball crown. And AJ the winner of the college basketball crown. The crown is Minnesota.
AJ Hawk
Bill Murray's son, the coach there? Y. Yep. Where Minnesota was he Bill Murray.
Ty
Xavier.
AJ Hawk
Xavier. He. Bill Murray, the actor? The comedic actor? Yes. His son is a college basketball coach.
Con Man
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Every day he has had savior. I think he's currently.
Gumpy
He's currently at Yukon I believe.
Ty
There you go.
Con Man
His son is Dan Hurley.
AJ Hawk
No, his son was a head coach for a little bit.
Gumpy
He's an assistant coach at Yukon I think.
Pat McAfee
Where was he before? Was he ever a head coach? I think he.
AJ Hawk
Was he ever at Minnesota? He was a head coach. Yeah, for sure. Cuz Bill used to come to games.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Cuz he was an assistant.
Ty
He was not a head coach.
Gumpy
He was never a head coach.
AJ Hawk
He should be head coach material.
Pat McAfee
I think it was at Xavier though.
Ty
He was.
Gumpy
He was at Xavier for three years. Lou, remember that Bill used to sit in the student Yukon since 21. He's got a. He's got national championship.
Ty
He's about to get a big time job.
AJ Hawk
I'm speaking into existence.
Pat McAfee
Maybe West Virginia for old Bill Murray skin.
Ty
Russ going to run Russ Hodge out of town after making this prestigious tournament.
Pat McAfee
I'll tell you what. Our women's basketball winning Big 12. What are our men doing?
Con Man
Winning the crowd, bro.
Gumpy
That's winning $100,000 winning.
Pat McAfee
That what the winner is or is it a million?
Gumpy
No idea.
AJ Hawk
Wait, is that. Is the super duper? It's 500k flag football cup this weekend.
Gumpy
Not bad.
Ty
I'll get you a player too.
Gumpy
What are you talking about? The Super Duper or what?
AJ Hawk
There's a football. There's a flag football thing going on. Is that now?
Ty
Oh, the Saudi Invitational.
Con Man
Oh, oh, is that right?
Ty
Presented by fanatics. Isn't that what it's called? Is that the official name?
AJ Hawk
I don't think so.
Ty
It's not.
AJ Hawk
It was originally.
Ty
Oh, it's the Saudi Open.
AJ Hawk
Oh, okay. You might be on to something. When is that though? Is that.
Pat McAfee
Is that now not the name.
Dan Orlovsky
It's not.
Pat McAfee
Let's get to a break. It's the fanatic super Duper flag football tournament. Tom Brady is promoting it. Yes, he is putting it on. There's a lot of incredible, incredible players in this thing. I believe Joe Burrow. Saudi Arabia, isn't it?
Ty
Okay.
Pat McAfee
That's where it was going to be. Now it's in Los Angeles obviously in preparation for the Olympics which have flag football. It just makes sense that it'll be at the BMO stadium over there. Yes, NFL players will be profiting off of playing football this weekend. If that is what you were trying to talk about. And we are certainly happy about that.
AJ Hawk
Yes.
Con Man
Kyle Shannon. Sean Payton, our coach.
Coach K
Coaching.
Gumpy
Shut up.
Coach K
Yeah.
Con Man
That is a hundred percent real.
Pat McAfee
Saquon, Barclays. Can we watch Joe Burrows in this thing? Miles Garrett's in this thing is turkey reference. This thing. We assume Turkey will be at this game. He's running down eventually. Crown prince.
Gumpy
Wow.
Ty
God bless him.
Pat McAfee
We don't know if they'll be traveling. Has everybody traveled over? You know he moved the game out from over there. Yeah. Because there's a lot going on. Is everybody getting out of there right now? That's a good question.
Con Man
I don't think so. I think it's kind of stand on Ben. Business time for people.
Pat McAfee
For people. We hope everybody's okay. We hope it all works out how it's supposed to. Whatever that means.
Ty
Yeah. You can't say much else.
Pat McAfee
I don't know what that means. We're all watching on the Internet and then we're asking Grock if it's real or not.
AJ Hawk
Bad person to ask.
Pat McAfee
No, that's actually a video game that some four year old was playing just two days ago. And he's the best top.
Gumpy
And it's got 12,000 retweets.
Pat McAfee
He's got. He's the best Top gun pilot in history actually on his finger on his computer. But yeah, that could be America. That could be Iran. It could be Israel. Could be a five year old in Minnesota playing a new video game. That's what the Internet is right now. So on that note, let's keep our head on a swivel out there.
Gumpy
That's right.
Pat McAfee
Let's enjoy this life. We're lucky to have it. Let's celebrate the hell out of sport. And let's be happy that the super duper flag football tournament is happening this weekend.
AJ Hawk
I am.
Pat McAfee
I brought it up.
AJ Hawk
Try to get some pub to the game. What'd you call it?
Gumpy
What's the official name on this.
Pat McAfee
This thing?
Ty
The Saudi Open.
Pat McAfee
True. It's not called the Saudi Open.
AJ Hawk
I don't think so.
Pat McAfee
Fanatics Flag Football Classic Presented by Saudi Arabia Riyadh season.
Gumpy
Yes.
Pat McAfee
Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. Especially if they're playing in a flag football game this weekend. Tom said some mean stuff about Logan Paul. Have they worked themselves into a shoot, brother? I think so.
AJ Hawk
WrestleMania.
Pat McAfee
What's that?
AJ Hawk
Getting to Wrestlemania? All right. He Fandango used to say like, what's so funny, dude?
Pat McAfee
This guy's unbelievable. This guy can't respect anything.
AJ Hawk
I'm talking Fandango One of the greatest wrestlers of all time. You ever heard of him?
Con Man
Yeah, I wanted to go Tim bring him back.
Gumpy
Bob Ackland.
Con Man
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
Backlink retired, actually. No.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he did.
AJ Hawk
I watched New Hampshire.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I know.
Con Man
He is LA free or die brother.
Pat McAfee
He's a great contractor, actually. I've seen him put together some incredible condos and apartments and houses on online. And I too am a fan. Dango addict. Yeah, I'm a big fan of him. I actually kicked him right in his chest. And then he was off WWE television for months and months and months. And he sent me a DM and said, you ended my business, kid. Are you ending my career, kid?
Coach K
I was.
Pat McAfee
I felt so terrible. He's one of the greats.
Con Man
Yeah, that's fandago.
Pat McAfee
He should be in Mania. I agree.
AJ Hawk
Maybe he will pop up with Tom.
Pat McAfee
You think Tom's going to Mania?
AJ Hawk
How could he not sit in his city amania work when he's going back and forth with location? Logan Paul this much. Maybe he pops up and he hits him the balls or something.
Pat McAfee
You think Tom Brady's gonna punch in the balls? I think Tom Brady's a big overhand right guy.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Like maybe like stone cold actually with an inside.
AJ Hawk
He might throw a football right off his temple.
Con Man
Can see him being a crossfit.
Gumpy
We know what the official song of Mania is yet, Cuz.
Con Man
Fiend fiend again.
Gumpy
Yeah, yeah, thanks.
Pat McAfee
Oh, I remember. Those are good old days, weren't they?
Con Man
That was awesome.
Gumpy
They only played it thousand times.
Con Man
Might be a bad bunny.
Pat McAfee
And he only liked it more and more. Yeah, legit. Then I got the time where it was too much. Yeah.
Ty
Night two.
Gumpy
Yeah, Sunday.
Ty
Night two.
Dan Orlovsky
Sunday.
Con Man
Hearing that Sunday.
Pat McAfee
Maybe we were feeding though.
Con Man
Big time.
Pat McAfee
All right, we officially enter our bracket into the ESPN super Duper bracket challenge. On the other side of this break.
Ty
Hell yeah.
Pat McAfee
Would be worth a watch. Absolutely not. But is there anything that we do that is some people last night said yes. There's people that did not speak our language, that had seen our show and watch show before.
Con Man
Okay.
Gumpy
Is that your official bracket?
Pat McAfee
They do the captions. It's a lot of we're about to do. I don't like it.
Gumpy
It's only like 68 games.
Ty
Just rapid fire. Don't even think about.
Con Man
Don't have to do it.
Pat McAfee
Let's get to a break. I'm going get. We're. We're part of. Remember.
Ty
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
We did the free agency frenzy.
Gumpy
This is March Madness.
Ty
This is March.
Gumpy
This is March.
Pat McAfee
We're going to do The ESPN bracket. Super Duper Challenge.
AJ Hawk
We get a billion dollars right when we get our perfect.
Con Man
No, that is only for that one company.
Gumpy
That was quick.
Pat McAfee
Or no. But isn't old buddy the one.
AJ Hawk
I don't think he's standing.
Gumpy
I don't know if he's doing it anymore.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, it's what? It's never happened.
Con Man
He basically said like why the am I paying a billion dollars to some guy?
Pat McAfee
Because you can, Warren. You're all about numbers and da da da. And the percentage of somebody doing it. I don't like that. He just ended that when he retired from doing his McDonald's every morning into shaping the entire stock market. With every move that he makes, Elon
Con Man
would probably step in.
Gumpy
War's 95. Maybe he just didn't want to.
AJ Hawk
This is Kid 95 years old.
Con Man
Yeah.
Gumpy
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Cuz they. They see us starting to get pretty good at it, you know.
Con Man
AI.
Pat McAfee
Oh, nice.
Con Man
His kids.
AJ Hawk
Do they get word. Shut it down, dad.
Coach K
Gaz.
AJ Hawk
Yep.
Con Man
Berkshire is still bringing it.
Pat McAfee
Especially with what we're about to do right there. I think forever.
AJ Hawk
There's a Rupert Murdoch documentary out there. Docu series.
Pat McAfee
Go on.
Con Man
Yeah. This is March.
AJ Hawk
He's saying it's like a success succession type thing.
Pat McAfee
What does that have to do with Warren Buffett?
AJ Hawk
I don't know.
Ty
Nothing.
Dan Orlovsky
Nothing, nothing.
AJ Hawk
They're all rich.
Pat McAfee
You're saying rich people. Where's mentioning rich white guys?
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Jeff Bezos. Fucking what a guy.
Coach K
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
There's a documentary out there about him and his laugh. I believe Ernest was hitting Jeff Bezos's laugh a lot. Yeah. I don't know. He really enjoyed it.
AJ Hawk
Oh, I don't know what it is.
Pat McAfee
Earns got. Earns got some things in the back pocket at all times that are really spectacular. I have never seen him used before. Some of his social plays I've never seen done before. And I'm really impressed by him.
Coach K
Okay.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Cuz he'll just slip some stuff by and then he's like 10 to 15 seconds later, everybody kind of gets it. And he's already.
AJ Hawk
Oh, okay.
Pat McAfee
Laughing on his way out the door.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, I like that.
Pat McAfee
This morning he's writing. I think he's in a writing session right now with the guy who wrote the national anthem. No, Tennessee Whiskey. The original. I don't think Francis Scott. The original though, which is like back in the 80s. Let's get to a break. I'm done with this.
Con Man
He wrote Middle East Whiskey.
AJ Hawk
Sure.
Con Man
Different tune.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. We're not doing a bracket.
AJ Hawk
We already did the main Bracket.
Pat McAfee
We're good. Show is over. Yeah. You did the one that the show is over. We'll be back on Monday. We hope you guys do great. Your friend. Tell a friend something nice about change your life. We're just like, yeah. This is the worst we've ever done. This the worst show we've ever head. No question. Should have thought about America losing one
AJ Hawk
time win last night.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Did not think about it. That was a long night left.
AJ Hawk
They won that. You wouldn't have made it back. He was still boozing with the boys. What are you laughing at, Tony?
Pat McAfee
He's a animal over there. I'm sick of it.
Gumpy
This belly coming for minutes.
Pat McAfee
What's that? Yeah, we're going through it.
Dan Orlovsky
We're not doing that.
Pat McAfee
I am done with soon as someplace might change your life. Have an incredible March Madness week weekend. We'll be doing it the same as you. Hopefully winning bets. Okay. Hopefully we'll all win. And hopefully somebody's one shining moment in a march full of moments will begin a magical way tomorrow as we follow along. I'm sorry that this is us. We will run a McAfee video on our way out here.
Dan Orlovsky

Pat McAfee
I needed that this morning.
Coach K
Morning.
Pat McAfee
We should have brought his ass in here today.
Con Man
We throwing our guest ideas.
Pat McAfee
Anything to say to the group is we get the off of microphones for a while. Thank God.
AJ Hawk
Not really. I don't want to force it. Like coach K said, it's got to come. It's got to be organic.
Pat McAfee
It's got to be natural. Is it starting to come right now?
AJ Hawk
Nope. Oh, Tone's starting to, though.
Pat McAfee
I think we all are. It's March Madness season.
AJ Hawk
Hard as rock over.
Pat McAfee
We'll see you on Monday. Zipper burn for everybody. Sports are about to take over our lives yet again. And it's not baseball this time. It's basketball. Who's gonna win? Everybody's saying the best teams.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Act accordingly. Have an incredible weekend. We'll see you on Monday. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. We're in this thing together. Team on me. Team. Hey, great work in the back, boys.
Con Man
Pretty much.
Coach K
Good week, boys.
AJ Hawk
Boys.
Pat McAfee
Graphic design, boys. Great work. Great work, boys. Cedo, Tim. Great work, boys. Talk to table. Way to go.
Con Man
Hey, you too, man.
Pat McAfee
Too. Hammer down, boys. Way to go.
Gumpy
You too.
Con Man
Way to go, boys.
Pat McAfee
Aj. Wow.
AJ Hawk
Wow.
Ty
Wow. Well done, Hoggle.
AJ Hawk
This helmet is so stupid.
Pat McAfee
Amen.
AJ Hawk
The design of it, not the Yukon stuff.
Pat McAfee
Well, I think you kind of lump those together.
AJ Hawk
No, no, no.
Pat McAfee
Manufacturer who designed the helmet?
AJ Hawk
Don't care.
Pat McAfee
That's good speech right there.
AJ Hawk
Make it look better.
Pat McAfee
Came to you naturally. Let's do that with everything. Let's make life look better.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And the way we change that. You know, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So the beholder of the eye is the one that can change the way in which we view this life. Yeah. We can find a million shit things if that's we're looking for. Or we can find that one awesome thing that spurs us on to the next awesome thing. Let's find happiness. Let's find beauty. Let's find life. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. You might change your life. We're in this thing together. Let's win some bets. Team on me. Let's take everything.
Gumpy
Hell yes.
Pat McAfee
Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three.
AJ Hawk
Team.
Pat McAfee

The show’s blend of high-energy storytelling, deep sports insight, and locker-room humor creates a uniquely engaging, relatable, and sometimes intentionally chaotic vibe. Pat’s charisma and frequent self-deprecating asides ("We did the worst show we’ve ever done!") keep things light even when discussing technical details or “the state of the game.”
With the WBC’s unforgettable atmosphere, Coach K’s insider perspectives, and the always-ebullient McAfee crew steering the ship, this episode sets the table perfectly for March’s coming sports bonanza. Listeners get fan-eye views, in-depth strategy, and an irreverent—yet respectful—take on the traditions and issues animating baseball, football, and college basketball.
Memorable Closing Quote (Pat, 149:27):
