Pat McAfee
Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome. On this Western conference finals. Wednesday, May 20, 2026 this sports program begins now. Sports are the absolute greatest. Another overtime thriller in the garden. Was it rest? Was it rust? Was it a little bit of both? Or were the New York Knicks doing something so electrifying in the Mecca that made us all say, okay, good on you? Timothy Chalamet, who had an interview at halftime and he was asked what the Knicks needed to do to clean it up, as the Cavs seemingly are going to be walking out of New York up 1 oh in the Eastern Conference finals. Timothy Chaumet said, we're a little rusty. We're going to have to clean it. We'll get it. We'll get it, though. No problem. They certainly did in the fourth quarter. They did some historic statistical shit. They were down 22 in the fourth quarter. They come back and win. There's some stats going on about amount of points run and how, how they're doing, what, 40 to 11, I think it was 33 to 8, 22 to 4 runs late down the stretch. And it's like Jalen Brunson did what Jalen Brunson has done to basically everybody. Just down stretch in a big way that saw all of New York City celebrate a massive, epic comeback. Now I'm being told James Harden is a problem. There's a lot of stats. My eyes were kind of telling me that, too. I mean, they ran 21 pick and rolls, I guess, to get James Harden onto the ball. And then they seemingly cooked James Harden. Even when James Harden was maybe shifted like that one, he's just going, obviously makes it. I mean, everything was falling for the Knicks, and it was seemingly all falling in James Harden's face. Once again, I am a James Harden fan, but then I opened my phone up and my algo just said, hey, look at this stat. James Harden's ass. Look at this stat. James Harden, his ass. They're directly designing plays to go after James Harden. The coach of the Knicks afterwards would say, me and Steve Kerr, you know, the guy just signed the extensions, won a bunch of titles in the middle of the dynasty. One of the best coaches of all time. When we were at Golden State, we actually were like, hey, let's just count the amount of dribbles that James Harden had. He had a thousand dribbles tonight. That is what we're looking for. He was attacking him on the offensive side, saying, this guy is what we're looking at. And then on defensive side, your eyes Are like, wow, James Harden. The beard's getting kind of just not even seemingly working. And then the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers comes out after the game and says this. No, listen, he's been one of our best defenders in these play the playoffs. I trust him. You know, smart, great hands. Didn't think about that. Okay, so what the hell do we. Yeah, that guy's a basketball coach. He has a team in the Eastern Conference finals. Let's assume he knows more basketball than I do. But everybody's telling me it's James Harden's fault. Down the stretch, he's really getting cooked. And the New York Knicks were taking advantage of it, and every shot was falling. And at comeback kids over there for the New York Knicks. Do it again. They're up 10 in the Eastern Conference. Everything's alive. And James Harden's getting cooked on the Internet yet again. And then Coach Brown's coming out talking about his offense game. It's like, are the Cavs going to answer? Donovan Mitchell? There's some stats coming out about him. I don't like him. I guess, Don, he has the most. I don't. I'm not even.
Tone
No, you got to say it.
Connor
You don't like the stats.
Pat McAfee
That is an important. I don't like the stat. I don't like that. I'm the messenger of this. You know, now that I'm an NHL insider, I'm going to have to realize that sometimes the messenger takes a little bit of heat.
Connor
Sure.
Pat McAfee
We were handed a stat about Donovan Mitchell, and I don't like this. Remember, first time, nine years, Cleveland Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell there. Okay. In the Eastern Conference final. This is a huge deal. We are big fans of Spider. He has an array of ways to get to the bucket. As Iman Shumpert said, he is certainly spectacular, but I guess in the playoffs he is being associated with this stat. But it is a team thing, I guess. He has like the most 20 point playoff collapses like over the last 30 seasons. Whoa. You know that one in the fourth quarter, they're saying the odds were like 0.1%. The odds on Sportsbook got all the way up to, I think plus 8,000. Our guy in the back, Bruce Brown, die hard Knicks fan, got it at plus 6,000 in real time. You don't get those types of odds on live bets unless the team has absolutely no chance. Bruce, you saw a winner there. What did you see? The bucket was getting bigger. The boys were buzzing. The rust was off. What did you see down the stretch from your Knicks team? That makes you go, hold the phone. The boys are back in time.
Bruce Brown
I believe it was 93, 76. Brunson had just hit a 3 and had that look and his eyes just that stone cold killer look. And I saw Donovan Mitchell kind of smirking and I, I think they. That he talks post game about maybe it was a little complacency, maybe it was a little bit of the tired legs, but it just felt like one of those magic nights might be on the way at the Garden. And, you know, I mean, Jalen just. He basically played the perfect game for the final eight minutes of the fourth quarter and then into ot. He truly is a godsend to New York sports. And I mean, it's just unbelievable, man. I can't believe that we are here with the Knicks up a game in the Eastern Conference finals with this guy just, just with the entire city on his back. It's unbelievable.
Pat McAfee
And he seems to be the right guy for it. You know, there's a couple moments where he's walking by himself. I'm like, I wonder who he's looking at because everybody in the arena is looking at him as he's walking around everywhere. And he's seemingly still above it, not lost in it, but respects it all. And he's the king of this. He's the king of the.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I know. Aaron Judge, obviously. All rise. But the Mets exist. Okay. Jalen Brunson, king of the city, you know.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
That is right now for sure. Nobody, if he was to win.
Tone
Oh, absolutely. That. I think that's the big thing, though.
Pat McAfee
They might put a statue of his ass on top of Madison Square Garden.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, enshrined.
Pat McAfee
They might put him right on top of that thing and it feels like he's the perfect guy for it. And remember, he is not 5 4.
Tone
No.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I learned that at upfronts. I got a chance to see because whenever he's amongst his peers, he doesn't look anywhere near as tall. And then you meet him, you're like, oh, yeah, these guys are all carnival sized. I forgot that the people he's standing next to are actually seven foot one or whatever. He's six three, six four. I mean, he's big guy. Big guy, fit, unbelievably tough. He makes every clutch shot. Doesn't seem to blink. Okay. Doesn't seem. Seems like the perfect guy for New York. Congrats to you guys over there in New York getting a huge win into us as sports fans. Getting an opportunity to watch that along ESPN Analytics. Now on Monday night Football. They'll tell you to go for it.
Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
They'll also tell you 0.1% chance of winning. Whenever you're down that much. Never. It is. The stats are outrageous. 600 and some plus times this situation has happened in the past. No team has ever won. And now it's kind of start spreading the news. The Cavs left yesterday. Are they gonna get swept by.
Ty Schmidt
I think so.
Pat McAfee
New York. I think they were up 22 in the fourth. But that was it.
Eric Johnson
That.
Pat McAfee
That was it. It felt like they had him. Right. Because Jalen Brunson been doing Disney up fronts. I mean, I mean he has been eating at Emilio's diner.
Connor
Sure.
Pat McAfee
He's stopping by Carbone ZZ's club. He's king. He's king of the time.
Connor
If they don't change their defensive plan, then yeah, you're probably right.
Pat McAfee
Atkinson's not changing.
Ad
He.
Pat McAfee
Once again, that man is a NBA basketball coach. We will have to ask you, Rich, more about how the hell this happened. That guy has forgotten more about basketball than I ever have. And I understand there's people on the Internet that know a lot of hoops and have dedicated their entire lives to hoops. This guy is an NBA coach. So at some point he had a reason for whatever he was doing, but it looked like there was a pretty obvious thing happening. Then whenever he was asked about it afterwards, he's like, nah, you guys don't. He's one of our best guys. What? How does that happen? I feel like that's not the case. Or maybe he's just trying to gas up his guy. Yeah, maybe he's trying to coach him up because he knows that James Harden's about to hear from everybody about the colossal collapse that just took place. Donovan Mitchell has to feel that he grew up in the area. I guess he is a local. Him walking back to Madison Square Garden afterwards just all by himself in a tiny little hallway. You know, Spite is doing all this shit in front of Madison Square Garden place going crazy. He's from there in the walk out afterwards, there's a little POV camera up in the corner like a security camera that TV people now have, which is good. I think you get it. It's just him in a tiny back hallway. Head down, just walking, understanding what's going to be said about him, what just happened, the opportunity they just missed and how this potentially changes everything going forward for their entire season. It is a wild thing this sports is. And we can't wait for game two legit. Speaking of huge nights talks Tablet bus Connor at Ty Schmidt. 1/2 of the hammer down Cowboys AP Tone is here. Con man. Western Conference finals tonight both in NBA and NHL. Game two for the alien versus the back to back mvp. Game one for maybe the greatest hockey team of all time. Colorado taking on a Vegas Golden Knights squad that is kind of, you know, been buzzing since Torts became a head coach. Yesterday had some breaking news.
Ty Schmidt
Pretty shocking.
Pat McAfee
As well as an NHL insider, I had some breaking news yesterday about the penalty for coach Torch after a game six Anaheim win where they decided to do no media and just get to a plane and leave. He was fined personally $100,000 and they were stripped of his second round draft pick. There was an appeal that was heard in New York in front of the commissioner of the NHL, Gary Bettman, and the penalties were upheld basically after the same exact penalties will be assessed. $100,000. Second round pick Cann a precedent that we want to set with the media. But Torts potentially said, I don't care about any of it. I would like the boys in this change room to understand that I am on your side. There's a chance that he walked into that change room after that game and said, we're not talking to any of these motherfuckers. They've been against us since the beginning. They doubted you. They doubt me. They doubt all of us. Why are we going to think about missing an airtime for these people? Let's get out of here. And the boys in the change room, really? We can do that. We're allowed to do it. Yeah, here we go. Exactly. There's a chance that this Las Vegas Golden Knights bunker mentality that is certainly only be getting stronger and stronger as more people keep talking about how much they hate them. There's a chance that they're the right group with the star power, with kind of the aura, the moxie and the reason to take on this Avalanche team that people are saying greatest of all time. New breaking news. This is from the Fridge. Elliot Friedman up there in Canada, Jared Bednar has announced a kale McCarr.
Connor
Whoa.
Tone
That's big news.
Pat McAfee
Whoa. Won't play. Game one officially listed as day to day. Now, remember, hockey doesn't tell us anything about any injuries, okay? Hockey just doesn't do that. They. They have a funny way of describing things like this guy has an upper body. What does that mean, upper body? He'll play maybe, and then it comes out after they lose. What was his upper body? His spine was fractured, like four spots. They actually had to lift him up and shoo him onto the ice for him to do that. So from a car to miss anything, especially at this stage of the playoffs, this has to be a very, very serious injury that changes a lot of things, obviously, in that particular game. Ty, are you excited about what the Golden Knights could potentially pull off tonight?
Tone
Yeah. And I like the point you're making about, you know, everything that's kind of happening with the Gold Knights. I mean, I. I don't watch every single game throughout the season. We've talked about it.
Jordan Agbonoma
They.
Tone
They drop the puck very late, so it's hard, but I'll check box scores. But going from paternity, where I'm. I was up no matter what, so I was watching all these games, like, I'm completely back, completely invested, and they are fun to watch. But then I walked in this morning and I looked at, you know, the. The scroll going across, and it's like, wow, the avalanche have won 53 games. There's a reason everyone's saying this might be the best team ever. But then you add all this stuff where everyone's kind of shitting on the Golden Knights on torts if there's an opportunity to add a chip on the shoulder inside there. Like, I absolutely love that. And like you mentioned, Cale Makar is obviously unbelievable. This is. This type of injury you would assume is going to be something that lingers throughout this entire series, because at least he's not going to miss a game of this magnitude if it's. I mean, we've even. We've heard guys, you know, having really high temperatures, being super sick, they go out there and play. So, like, something is. Is really going on here. And now, if you're the Golden Knights, you have to capitalize on the road tonight.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, we just literally saw T2 T2 whatever come out of a guy from Anaheim that was playing. What do you have? Oh, he had, like, two bulges in his neck. He had broken neck. This guy who. The guy that was playing.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Tone
Scored a couple goals as well.
Pat McAfee
One of their stars that, like, happens in hockey. So for him to miss a game, I think this is a gigantic deal. It used to be what it was like for, like, offensive linemen to go down on a field. Like, offensive linemen never go down on a field. Okay. That is just, like, never a thing. Not allowed. You break something. We don't. You get up and you get your ass. That's what the old kind of mantra used to be. It certainly evolved with science and us learning what these injuries could potentially be and how Much more you could affect that. Obviously, hockey is never adjusted. Hockey's a big like if. Hey, if you can stand on your skates, you get out there. Paul better move you skate.
Ty Schmidt
Get your gloves on, lad.
Pat McAfee
Oh, you're better. He's got a fractured skull. Okay, okay, okay. You're not gonna play. Okay.
Connor
He was on the ice this morning testing it.
AJ Hawk
So.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so skating.
Connor
He was, Yeah. I don't know if he's skating. He said he was on the ice. I don't know if he's on the ice and crutches or on the ice and skates. Probably skates. But then the decision was made after that to not go.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so we shall see how it plays out. Could the Golden Knights steal one here against the Colorado Avalanche up there in Colorado? Gonna be electrifying. Who's gonna be hitting the Avalanche?
Ty Schmidt
That's a good question. Hornel.
Pat McAfee
That's the. I don't know if Horno is going to be able to make it. Horno will be joining us though, here in a little bit to chat about what he expects from the Avalanche as they host the Golden Knights here in the Western Conference final. Game one and then game two of the Western Conference NBA Finals. Game one obviously lived up to the hype immensely. I mean, just absolutely. We got extra free basketball. Wemby goes absolutely crazy. SGA and the lads have to battle in front of their home court crowd, which is one of the greatest in all of sport. Everything that could happen that was awesome did happen, including a pull up from Wemby from the logo. And it was his first time shooting a three all night, basically as he was living in the paint. It was a spectacular game one. What does game two have now? Does SGA answer? He got double teamed in a big way. Yes, it did. Let Caruso kind of be wide ass open. Caruso goes for 30. He started hitting everything again on Christmas Day against the Spurs. Caruso didn't hit his main shots. So I think Caruso and the team understood that he was probably going to be left wide open here from the the San Antonio spurs. And he goes crazy and he just starts hitting. Will that happen again? Will more guys have to hit or will Wemby just decide that? This one's just like a hockey goalie. This one's going to be won by us. This is how this is going to go. He doesn't get as much fouling trouble as I would have expected for Wemby, and I think it's because they don't want to call it while he's getting attacked, but he does a lot of bumping as well. There is a lot of physicality with the way Wemby plays. I appreciate the officials hopefully kind of letting them play, but if there's a couple early whistles, I think on Wemby, this entire game really changes. And if that was to happen, people are going to get real loud because watching this alien do his thing, especially taking on a team in the middle of the dynasty. And not just the Alien, the players around him, young, confident, hard work, feels like they do all the miserable stuff. They're an incredible taking on a dynasty. It is a special matchup that we can have here tonight as long as everything goes smooth. Comment do you know who the ref is and what are your expectations for tonight as we look to gamble as we all hit on the San Antonio spurs in game one?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, hopefully we kind of carry that in. I believe Tony Brothers will be the ref for game.
Pat McAfee
What does that mean? What does that do? We know the stats for that. I know there are some players that are like Chris Paul would never won with Tony Brothers. Right. They fought each other.
Ty Schmidt
Scott Foster. Here they go. Foster. But yes, like there are those type of stats. It does feel as though Tony Brothers, who I believe you had a good back and forth with. Yeah, yeah, a lot of moxie. It feels as though he has good feel for the game. Hopefully we don't get into some sort of Wemby or even like Holmgren or somebody on their team. SGA getting two, three fouls in the first quarter because that would rob us of what this has been so far. One game into it. He is the entire series. This does feel like the finals and last night was great. Only for about four minutes. You know, once the Knicks made that first half of their run, they went on the 181 run you mentioned to kind of kind of get it within eight and then it became a better game. But that was only the last quarter. It does seem as though this one is going to be a seven game series that hopefully every single one's a banger.
Pat McAfee
The Chet Holmgren conversation about him and Wemby battling fascinating. Especially if we talk about fouls and how this could go. I hope they let him play. Wemby good at this though.
Connor
Yeah, I looked because you got me interested when you said it's like is he going to get in foul trouble or whatever. I looked up he's fouled out zero times this year. I don't know if it's because like nobody ever goes into his body because they're so afraid of getting blocked. So he's like, he's never getting body fouls. And then he's so good at. I mean, he's so far up there that he's never like, he's never getting anyone's wrist or anything like that because it's just him and the ball up there.
Pat McAfee
And there's a chance though that like, they don't really call anything against him either. Yeah. So they don't really know how to wrestle. Yeah. Chance that they have. No, because on those swats and blocks that people try, hands get hit. Nate.
Connor
Yep.
Pat McAfee
You know, and like bodies touch and they call it. And he's up on every one of them. I. I mean, they're three point shot layup mid range. He's up on every. He's damn near at absolutely everything. So I assume it has been a thing, but let's just act like it's. This continues him and Chet.
Connor
Maybe if Chad's there.
Tone
Yeah. Need that tonight.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Chad Chat knows. Chad has been listening. He better know listening. He understands. Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
You would hope Holmgren does kind of show up, especially after everyone's like, hey, why the hell is the 64 guy guarding the 75 guy? That doesn't make any sense. I think the biggest worry just kind of outside looking in would be all the guys for the spurs played the most minutes they've ever played by a lot. And for some reason the NBA, which we can appreciate, but isn't giving them those couple days in between instead of they're doing every other night, which is awesome. But also you would think maybe we give these guys another extra night's rest. But they're all under 25. We saw the stats of the youngest starting five from the entire NBA history. Yeah. 22 years and 346 days as the average. So hopefully those young legs kind of step it up. But it's hard to imagine OKC just laying down. You would assume that they have something planned. But who knows? If Alex Caruso is guarding Wemby tonight, it's going to be hard not to bet Wemby to have 35 points again.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, well, if Chet's guarding Wemby, it's going to be hard not to bet that because of what we understand with Wemby. And did you see the video that I saw floating around here now about Chet getting a little. Playing a little?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, that's ridiculous.
Pat McAfee
He's playing a little footsie with him there. Is that a little game? How often does that happen? Because I remember Grayson. What was his name Allen.
Eric Johnson
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Grayson Allen.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. This was his kind of Tom, everybody.
Tone
Heymond.
Ty Schmidt
He was a tripper. Yeah. Draymond Green. This would equate, I think, to two bows. I think Wemby is allowed two swinging elbows. Whether they hit Chad or not, that's kind of up to Wemby and his accuracy. But that is the most scumbag thing I think we've seen in the playoffs so far.
Pat McAfee
I mean, just to slow him down just a tiny little bit. You can absolutely do that. They allegedly. There is a. Like a magnet. Like there's a positive side and a negative side.
AJ Hawk
Sure.
Connor
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Really good. It's sticking. But whenever they see the same. That's what happens with Chet and Wemby walk into each other. I think it's what Hancock. They're supposed to hate each other.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah. Yeah. They get powers dwindle as they come closer together.
Pat McAfee
And look at us. We get to watch this for the next 50.
Ty Schmidt
Go on.
Pat McAfee
Massive, lads. Here we go, lads. Go on. We appreciate you. I know it's probably uncomfortable to have to do this, but, like, hey, good luck out there. Let's pivot away from the NBA and let's go to an uncomfortable conversation. There's a wide receiver that is about to be serving 30 days in jail for an incident that happened on a highway over a year ago. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now to give us more information on what's happening with the Chiefs. And Rasheed Rice, senior NFL Insider, espn. Adam Schefter. Yeah. You look cool right there, but it's a Pacer shirt. I like that.
Adam Schefter
Gentlemen, what's going on?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Okay. Shout out to Pacer. Yeah.
Tone
Hey.
Pat McAfee
All right. Shout out to Pacers. I like that. I don't know how white wearing that, but I appreciate that. Just to remind the Knicks. Right? Is that what you're doing here?
Adam Schefter
Well, it was a year ago where the Pacers came back at that big comeback late in the fourth quarter of game one of the Eastern Conference Finals at Madison Square Garden. And a year later, the New York Knicks have a big comeback in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks weren't going to rebound from that last year, and I don't think that the Cavaliers will bounce back from that this year.
Pat McAfee
Okay. So I appreciate you giving NBA takes, but I'd also like to speak for the Pacers organization to the nick. You're welcome. To the Knicks fans.
Brandt Snedeker
Yeah.
Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Congratulations. We kind of gave this to you guys. Well, we did last year.
Bruce Brown
The experience does show late Late in these games, those battles against the Pacers do do help out and it keeps, you know, top of mind that no matter what the score is, you have a chance to come back and win that game.
Pat McAfee
Down 20 plus in the fourth, you could probably give up and some teams might mail it in instead. The horror in New York City, New York, Grady City kind of came out there and got a huge job. Let's move to the NFL. I alluded to it there. There's a 30 day prison sentence that is happening for Rasheed Rice. There was a pro a deferred probation for a certain amount of years, which we looked it up where basically the deferred probation is a five year period where as long as you are good in your probation, the charge will kind of just be wiped from your record. I there won't be any more punishment. You kind of move forward. But if in that five year deferred probation period you fail anything in your probation, you are then to serve your sentence that was to be given. So in this one, you can correct me if I'm wrong, Shafter, but I've had some friends that have had DUI situations with this where they've had certain probation periods where they couldn't do anything and if they did, then the entire sentence would be. Can you explain how we got to this? Did the Chiefs know that he was going to be doing 30 days in jail? Did we know this? How long did he know that it was going to be happening? Because you reported that he got surgery just a week before or within the last couple weeks, a cleanup of a knee, which you would certainly not want to be in jail for 30 days while fresh out of a surgery, it seems like. Can you kind of clarify all this for us, Schefter, as we look at a situation that I don't think we've seen in a long time. Right. This is, this is certainly. Okay, sorry, go ahead.
Adam Schefter
There are a few different sides to this and we'll present some of what we were told yesterday. But basically as it was explained to me yesterday, obviously he did not know that he was going to be going to jail for 30 days here. If he did, there's no way that he would have had the knee surgery that he did last week so that he'll be in jail in a Dallas county jail, which he now is. He's currently in a jail cell in Dallas County Jail coming off the knee surgery he had last week. That will sideline him two months. Now that's two months. Normally with the attention and care and Rehab that you're going to get. I don't know how this works where you undergo knee surgery and then you're in jail. Now there was some sort of violation of his probation that had to have occurred recently or at least the judge found out about it and ruled on it and ordered him to serve his 30 day sentence in jail. Now. So he is been sentenced to jail for 30 days here as part of the situation connected to the car crash that he was involved in where people were injured. We remember that incident a couple of off seasons ago. It was supposed to be a five year probationary period. The judge involved, who I understand it is retiring here, he's an outgoing judge and somehow Rasheed Rice was ordered to serve the 30 day sentence now for a violation to his probation, which we assume was some sort of positive test for marijuana.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so we're not 100% sure what the violation was, but it has been alluded to that he was a failed substance abuse test for your probation, which prohibits that. Also your profession. But obviously, I mean he would be. Was there any alcohol or involved in that arrest or drugs involved in that arrest? So is he in the NFL's program? I wonder if he's in the NFL's program.
Adam Schefter
I think he is. I think what, I think what's going to happen here, unconfirmed, is now he'll be reentered into the the NFL's drug program. But again, you remember in the last CBA there are no suspensions, discipline for marijuana.
AJ Hawk
So.
Adam Schefter
But you can be entered into the program and subject to other tests.
Pat McAfee
Oh yeah, the program is the worst. As somebody that did 27 months in the program. Okay. It is very, very restrictive, I will say. But once again, lucky to do it. Lucky to have a job in the NFL. Understand that it was me that put myself in this situation. Probably saved my life. 27 months. A little bit of overkill.
Ty Schmidt
Sure.
Pat McAfee
Okay. We didn't need to do two years, three months. I thought that was a little bit too long. But you're getting tested eight times a month. I had to call the NFL, a certain line and report where I was. Every time I left my home address. I had to give them two phone numbers they could reach me at. I had a PO for sure. It was the NFL. And I was getting tested at 4am in Georgia after I won Bigfoot hunting out in the woods. I was getting tested at 6:30am in Vegas. I was getting tested in Pittsburgh. I mean I was 200 and some tests. 27 months. Damn clean. Cause if you don't guess what, you're in that thing, reset forever. And that's what they're trying to do. Once you get in there, they're trying to keep you in there forever. That's kind of the game. That's how I had to frame it so I was going to beat these people is how I. Because they wanted to keep me in there. Now, that led me down some dangerous roads. I think, you know, that was when, like the spice conversations are happening and stuff like that. Because it won't show up. I can't be doing this. Is this what my life is?
Ty Schmidt
No way. Bigfoot dangerous.
Pat McAfee
Bigfoot hunting? Yeah. Crocodile hunting, ghost hunting. I did all these things to try to figure out what life was without, you know, smoking or boozing while every one of my friends was doing just that. So it was certainly a time in my life. And we hope that Rasheed Rice, okay, figures it out. Okay. He might be watching this right now. We've been told from numerous people that have been in jail that they do run ESPN in jail. So there's a chance that Rasheed Rice is watching this right now from a jail cell, missing out on rehab on his knee. He might potentially alter his entire career and net worth because of this stupid shit. Okay, Rasheed, let's go. But I think that's what everybody needs to say. Go ahead.
Adam Schefter
Ty and I talked about this this morning, right? Here's a guy when we see wide receiver salaries exploding across the league, and he is just about as good as any receiver in the league, and he's entering the last year of his contract. If we just took away all the off the field incidents, all the mishigos that comes along with it, then you'd be talking about a player right now who would be getting an extension this offseason at somewhere between 35 and 40 million dollars, I guess. And so now instead of getting that extension, which isn't going to be coming anytime soon, he's going to be now in a jail cell rehabbing an injury going into the last year of his contract without a new deal on the horizon. And it's. It's really unfortunate. It's all there for him.
Pat McAfee
It's a sad story. It's a sad situation. It's like, hey, obviously you've put this upon yourself and everything, but hopefully able to figure it out, move forward. And then just from the football standpoint, looking at the Chiefs, I mean, he's going to be another month behind on recovery, okay? Because there's no way they were able to put together, together A prison plan for coming out of a knee?
Brandt Snedeker
Probably not.
Pat McAfee
I don't know if they're going to be able to get. What's up, doggy? What's up, doggy? Just stopped by. Good to see dog popping into shefters. So let's assume there's a chance they're gonna have to clean that up again. Okay. Because that was a cleanup surgery, which means they wanted to eliminate some stiffness, probably some scar tissue stuff, whatever the case is. There's some loose stuff. They're probably. If you don't rehab that fully, you might have to refix that again. So let's just assume that's going to set them back again.
Adam Schefter
It was loose cartilage. It was a debridement. And obviously you wouldn't when you did if you were going to jail the next week for 30 days.
Pat McAfee
All right. Well, hopefully Rasheed figures it out. Come on, Rashid.
Ty Schmidt
Here you go, Rasheed.
Pat McAfee
Come on, Rasheed. Yeah. Maybe there's a physical therapist in there, maybe. And they just run through it. They do the towels or the sheets for the. Because there's a lot of band work on the knee, you know, to build full flexibility and strength in the quad. Because you gotta activate the quad anytime the knee goes. Probably because the quad goes. But there's also, you know, inside with the drop and the outside. So you gotta do this number and this number and this number. And then we're gonna rub that thing down so you don't have any scar tissue. It's gonna be the most painful thing about that. It's Chief Aholic. A nightmare.
Shams Charania
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Chiefsaholic might be in there and say, don't you worry.
Pat McAfee
We don't know. Is Chief's hawk in Dallas? I'm not.
Ty Schmidt
He might be.
Pat McAfee
He's all over Oklahoma. Multiple states.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Tone
I believe he's in a maximum security facility as well. I don't know. For she rice.
Pat McAfee
All right, let's move off of this particular subject and let's move to Nashville, Tennessee, hosting a Super Bowl. This is a big deal. Obviously. It could be cold. We chit chatted about that. But now all of a sudden, there's this conversation about hotel rooms. And Nashville has been a destination city for as long as I've known it. People travel in there for bachelor, bachelorette parties, birthday parties. Just good time. Because everything there seemingly has live music that's at the top of the class, and then bars that are very open in a hospitable group of people that are welcome you into a city of good times. So I Think they'll be a great host for the Super Bowl. What is the hotel room? We looked this up, Jake, when the Colts got the super bowl, they to build multiple hotels here in Indiana. We are a hosting city, but the JW Marriott one up. We looked it up. They probably have like 400 to 700 hotel rooms.
Tone
They have a thousand. 400 to 700 is what is considered a large hotel.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so a thousand hotel rooms that JW Marriott put in. So we. There was a reason that that had a thousand rooms because of the super bowl implic. What does Nashville need to do? How quickly do they need to do that? And is this going to become part of the rotation? Like Jim Nance, who I did not know lives in Nashville, spoke about saying that he expects Nashville to become a rotational super bowl city because of how great they are at hosting things, which I would like to say every time they've hosted me, I've had a great time. Me, too. I don't know about events, but every time I've been there, it's been a blast. Go ahead, Shefty.
Adam Schefter
Well, Pat, you are a force, no doubt, but hosting you and hosting a Super bowl with all the people that come along with it is a different experience.
Pat McAfee
And there's just a lot more of me. Sure. That's why everybody's having their own experience, you know, and as long as there's a hotel room for me to sleep in, I think that's what everybody's saying. We're going to be a. Okay. But that is the big question, right? How many do you need for the super bowl for the NFL to feel comfortable?
Adam Schefter
Well, we did the draft there, and the draft. Draft went off without a hitch. And I think that was an event that helped put Nashville on the map with the NFL and help the draft turn into what it is today and help lead to the super bowl coming back to Nashville one day. Obviously, the new stadium really does the trick because if you build it, they will come, and that's what the NFL is doing right now. I was in. I was in Nashville a few weeks ago, and it feels like there are a whole, whole lot of other added new hotels there right now. They've added on. I would imagine there'll be more built by the time the super bowl comes there, and they feel like they have the necessary space to get this done. Otherwise the league wouldn't have done it. So Nashville is going to pull it off. That city is. Has grown so much and added so much, and so it's going to house the Super bowl in 20, 30 regular rotation. That's interesting that I haven't heard.
Pat McAfee
Jim Nance was pushing it as a citizen of Nashville. I think he was speaking for the city, I believe is what he was saying.
Adam Schefter
If it goes off great, then obviously I think it'll be discussed. There's gonna be a lot of people that are going to want in the super bowl game. We talked about Washington getting a new stadium. I think once Washington gets a new stadium, I would bet Washington gets a super bowl one day.
Pat McAfee
Jim Nance, co chair of the super bowl committee.
Ty Schmidt
Okay, Jim, There you go.
Pat McAfee
Right guy to put in there for sure.
Q Rich
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Right guy to put in there. Obviously it worked. And the city of Nashville is phenomenal. So I assume it's going to go off without a hitch again. And I assume it is going to steal the show because so many of these suits probably that have never been into country music or whatever, are going to travel down there for the first time and they're going to walk down Broadway the next. Riley Green's in there. They said it's unbelievable. Darius Rockers performing on a balcony. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's like that. The amount of Blake Shelton will be on top of it.
Ty Schmidt
Is that a chair?
Pat McAfee
Holy. Is a Dell performance. Yeah. At a bar right over here. It's like, what is this? You walk in there, all the bartenders understand what's going on here. Guys trying to. We having a good time here. Yep. Okay, let's go ahead and do this celebration everywhere. And I know this place isn't good. Next door. Yeah, we're all heading right here. Next door. And it's six floors tall. Go to the fourth floor. That'll be the speakeasy floor. He's in the back room. Then go up on top. Foam party. Okay, so the top floor is a foam party. Speakeasy's this 1/3 floor sports bar. They got a cosm thing in the back. You're gonna love it. And then the second floor just kind of honky tonk, you know, just kind of get in there and have fun. Go ahead and climb. That's what Nashville is. It is outrageous how good of a time. It's only a matter of time right before it can it continue to be all. I don't how much more.
Connor
Everything reaches a certain point.
Ty Schmidt
You would think that it can continue,
Pat McAfee
though, but at least got to be 100 years of that.
Tone
I mean, it's kind of happening with Vegas right now. Like, that was Vegas for the longest time. And then now it's kind of like they're having a tough time getting people out there and I think think people are kind of going to Nashville for that Vegas type thing, so. But they're in like the early stages of that, so. Yeah, they probably do have a nice little shelf life here for the next several years, maybe even decades.
Pat McAfee
Congratulations to Nashville and we can't wait to get down there for that Super Bowl. Yeah, but that radio row is going to be outrageous. Yeah, it's going to be. Can't stress enough how awesome the draft was down there. The other cities have been great, but Nashville setup was by far the best one. I agree. I agree completely. Okay, last question before we let you get out of here. Shafter. Go ahead, Con man.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, Shefty with Kansas City. Maybe looking for wide receivers and some other teams. Washington, I've seen some Ravens stuff. Where can we expect some of these guys to sign? Tyree Kills, Stefon Diggs, Keenan Allen, you know, D Hop Deebo. When should we expect this and where should we expect the teams to be interested in?
Adam Schefter
A lot of wide receivers sitting out there right now. A lot of wide receivers looking for a new home.
Pat McAfee
Oh, who's that?
Adam Schefter
We got Peewee. Yeah, that's. That's it. By the way, like, I just. I got the person calling me. Can you see me now? I can't see you. Can you see me right now?
Pat McAfee
No, you're, you're. Pause. It's. Pause screen. You got to get back into it.
Ty Schmidt
There you go.
Pat McAfee
There it is. Good work. That's what you said there about that person. It was pretty fantastic. Feels like it is somebody of importance, but they can wait a little bit. If it was somebody of super duper importance at the exact moment, you would certainly have walked away because you already had now because we couldn't see you, sir. Wide receivers, though, Wide receivers, though, in this market, there's a lot of big household names available and seemingly conversations about places that are looking for a wide out, including Kansas City now, obviously.
Adam Schefter
Yeah. And I think some of these players, they'll be able to hand pick their opportunities right before training camp. Or maybe they wait a week or two into camp and wait to see if there's an injury. A lot of these guys haven't gotten the prices they wanted. Tyree Kill is an injury situation where he may not be ready till midway through the season. That's. That may be a down the line thing, but at some point in time, if and when the money's right for any of these players, then they step in at that point in time. But it hasn't happened yet. And there's certainly a lot of options out there at that receiver position right now for teams that are in the market. I don't know how many teams are in the market for a wide receiver right now. Like, I guess the Chiefs may be looking to add one. Maybe June 1st. We'll be bringing about the A.J. brown trade. You see the list of the other guys? Brandon Ayuk, I don't. You know, that, that, that's. That's an Interesting one. DeAndre Hopkins still out there. Ibo Samuel, I would think be able to make some plays for a team. But I mean, these guys have been unbelievable in the league for a long time.
Pat McAfee
Shots, sleeper, colts saying maybe, you know, we lost Pittman. Why don't we think about bringing in another one? Especially with Alec Pierce having a surgery and two months behind. But Alec Pierce. Pierce will be back healthy. Speaking of being back, lamar Jackson not first day of OTAs, story worthy. How about Herbert? Is he also not at OTAs, but we saw him in the building in April. I think we saw Lamar in the building as well in Baltimore, but I guess not at a certain event. Like how should we judge these? Because I former player guys Ms. Voluntary OTAs all the time back in the day for certain things, especially OGs. If we had a. Maybe a charity event had to happen or maybe family had something going on. They've been around the league for a long time time. It's voluntary for a reason. Okay. This is voluntary for a reason. Young guys back half of the roster. You are welcome. This is your time to kind of earn your spot in the building. You should be here. But there's always been like OGs that have missed some days. Now Peyton Manning was there throughout the entirety of it, but he might have missed a couple things here or there. Same thing with like Dallas and Gary, all the guys, but they were always there. I've heard some other places the vets weren't even there until like a certain time where they all decided to go. That's kind of all evolved now that we see how much money they all make and everything is content, worthy and we see where everybody's at all the time. Do you think more attention to this conversation has changed the way teams treat it or players treat it? And what should we make a big deal out of it? Because back in the day, none of this shit would have been a big deal if he never came. That'd be a problem. But the voluntary part of it was always kind of like, hey, let's remember this shit is voluntary right now, especially for the OGs.
Adam Schefter
Well, that's the whole thing, is that there have been plenty of instances where players didn't show up at certain points. It never got the attention. Attention. But in the league itself right now, everything becomes headline worthy. And Lamar Jackson was all the workouts before this, so he's not at the OTAs that started, but he was going through the off season workout program, which he hadn't done before. So that's. That's a big deal. Now if he stays away the entire offseason program, he's away during OTAs, which he hadn't been. He'd already been in attendance way more than he had been in any other offseason season. So maybe he just feels like, okay, I picked up what I feel like I need to pick up. And Declan Doyle's a new offense that's being installed and implemented here. He feels good. Maybe he's got something going on.
Ty Schmidt
Who knows?
Adam Schefter
Like, I'm not too worried about Lamar Jackson missing, especially considering how much he's been there this off season.
Pat McAfee
Okay, how about for the Chargers? We've seen Herbert in the building. Obviously he lives in la. I think every single thing he does, every meal he has, every show he watches is documented. Now, at this point, congratulations of him. He looks super handsome. Is there anything going on with him or why was his name floating on the Internet?
Adam Schefter
I. I would think the same type of situation where he's not there for something like Justin Herbert's a worker. Be like, that guy's going to be there at most everything if he's not there for an extended period. Okay, then. Then we'd ask the question. But, you know, I haven't taken daily attendance of Justin Herbert to figure out why he's not there today. You know, whether he's got cold, whether he's got another obligation, whatever it may be, whether he's got a date date, a big date, who knows?
Pat McAfee
Well, we'll find that out for sure. It feels like every time they do that, we learn him. And I'm happy as hell for him, by the way. I couldn't fathom what he is like in those settings. I bet it's fantastic on the music.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
The music video, he looks so good. He was. But he's in love. Yeah.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Get off this guy's back.
Ty Schmidt
Just. Just ask.
Pat McAfee
But I am happy that we just got done doing a segment that basically says, hey, this is voluntary. Let's remember that there's shit going on in people's lives. This is always this is how this is. Yeah, Yeah, I agree. All right, sweet. Appreciate the hell out of you, chef. Good luck over there. Go, Pacers.
Adam Schefter
Yeah, there you go. By the way, while I was on the phone here, the Thunder texted me. What do we got Pacers on? We need Thunder stuff, so they're gonna be sending me stuff so I'll wear thunder the next time I'm on here.
Pat McAfee
Hey, why don't you tell. Why don't you tell the Thunder? Why don't they worry about Wemby tonight, okay? They don't need to be worrying about wearing Pacer stuff on the show. You're the best. Ladies and gentlemen, I. Adam Schefter. All right, it's good pivot. Actually, ladies and gentlemen, it's time to move to the association, the National Basketball Association. But before we do, let's get a quick bite of some info. It's time for a drive by.
Q Rich
Yeah, it's a char's drive by.
Pat McAfee
Just need a high five. What's going on? We don't need a deep dive. Just need a hot. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, we were watching you dance on the back. Pretty good little Bob. Pretty good little Bob for the kid. A little bit of bounce there. A little bit of bounce there. Okay, let's get into it. Jason Kidd's fired. Okay. That comes out of nowhere. Then people start putting out his record even before the LUCA trade post. LUCA trade. How the team has been and seems like all the stats that people are shoving into my algorithm, them warrant or justify a firing. Why do we think this happened? Did we know this is happening? This feels out of the middle of nowhere. Sham Sharanya.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Shams Charania
So, Pat, you have to look at the leadership that's now coming in. Masai Ujiri, he was a long time. 12 years he spent in Toronto as a vice chairman there. Now he gets the president job, the alternate governor job in Dallas. And he has full authority to do whatever he wants with the direction of this team.
Pat McAfee
Team.
Shams Charania
And so in the last seven months, you trade Nico, you trade Anthony Davis, you fire Nico Harrison, and now you fire Jason Kidd. And you know, when I talk to people around that organization the last 24 hours, you think about the residue. That's all come from the trade of Luka Doncic. Right? And everything that's. That's come out of that. And you've had an owner there in Patrick Dumont, who's admitted that he made a mistake, that he made a mistake by green lighting that trade. And so how involved was Jason Kidd? He wasn't making the trade. But Mav sources do believe that he had a level of support for that trade. So Messiah Jury comes in, and I think for him, it's a complete restart, a clean slate, a fresh start for the entire organization. They've already fired Nico Harrison. Now you fire Jason Kidd. Anthony Davis is already gone. You traded him basically for salaries and a few draft picks. You still have Kyrie Irving on this team, who you feel like has a future with Cooper Flag. Everything around this organization, that's the one element of the team that's not going to change. It's Cooper Flag. But for them to move off of Jason Kidd, right Now they're eating four years and almost $45 million to get off of Jason Kidd and essentially wash their hands of the situation. And this is all because team leadership wants a clean start.
Pat McAfee
Masai Ujiri came into the building. You Luca trade like it. Don't like it. I thought we had to do it at a time. Sick. All right. The fuck down. All right. Thanks. You were a part of the Luca trade, right? If I do recall, you were the big name that came over. Yeah. All right, I'm gonna do that. You made the trade, right? Yeah. All right. All right. You're fucking fired first. Okay, I'm gonna let you know that right now. You definitely. You're outta here.
AJ Hawk
First.
Pat McAfee
This is the dumbest. You see what he's doing over there? He's in shape, too. He's older, he's mature. He's fucking. What do you think was going to happen? You. You are. Every time I look at you. The only reason why you're here is because we traded Luca. So we're going to get you the hell out of here for sure. And I heard you, coach, you were kind of saying you thought it was because of you, not because of Luka. The whole thing. Get your ass out of here as well. That is kind of what this is, right? This is. This is Cooper Flag's team. We are going to eliminate the thought and Mark Cuban's the owner. That Luca was here, that we traded his ass away. We are going to. This is Cooper Flight. The main event is who we would like. Is that kind of what this is from your standpoint?
Shams Charania
I mean, forget anyone involved with just the Luka Doncic trade. We've seen Patrick Dumont, the owner, essentially flush away anyone that was even around the Mark Cuban regime. Right? Nico Harrison, Jason Kidd, they were all brought in by Mark Cuban. Luka Doncic, a Mark Cuban guy. The only Mark Cuban guy left on that team. Right now is Kyrie Irving. Kyrie Irving is a generation player, generational talent. Masai Jiri did his press conference today and he said, we want to see Kyrie Irving and Cooper flag on the court together. But there's no question there's multiple contenders around the NBA that are very much monitoring what Kyrie Irving's future is right now with the Mavericks, whether it's this summer, whether it's into the season. But that's all going to play out over the course of the year. There's no question Jason Kidd, anyone else in that organization, where they were at with the Luka Doncic of it all, maybe that didn't play a factor in people's firings. But certainly from an informational perspective, from a position of like, that's good background context, there's investigation to an extent that you have to do when you come into an organization. So there's that. There's the infighting that's been going on internally there. There's been so much toxicity around that organization that now Masai Ujiri is inheriting.
Pat McAfee
It's crazy that the worst trait in history is a problem. Problem? Yeah, in the building effects. You know, they love it. A lot of people probably loved Luke in that building. Oh, yeah. So then when it doesn't work out, the amount of I told you sos and then the amount of like, no, we had to do the time, you're not an adult. The grandstanding that could take place. And Masai Ujiri said the reason why Kyrie Irving's still around. This is via Abby Jones at Underscore. Abigail. Nice messiah, Jerry said. Kevin Durant once told me that there's only one Kyrie Irvin walking around, around the world. Okay. So you don't move on from one of those. Okay. This guy's an actual witch when it with a basketball. And you've been watching his live streams. He's back. It appears as if he is good. Him and Cooper. Okay. That could be sweet.
Ty Schmidt
Duke brotherhood.
Pat McAfee
We just got to hope that the Mavericks fans welcome the brand new era. I feel like they probably will, but there's probably a lot of healing that has to kind of take place. Okay, let's talk about tonight. Obviously, huge things is where the Mavericks are trying to get to Darren Fox, obviously. Massive story of game one. Anything else we need to keep track of as we look to this evening?
Shams Charania
Shams Darren Fox. Definitely a game time decision. I'm told he has a high ankle sprain and that's something he suffered in the Minnesota Timberwolves series. He basically played through it, but it's, it's at, it's stiffened up, it's, it's added swelling in the last several days and so he missed game one. That was essentially a game time decision. He ends up missing that game. They're going to take it closer to game time again today, but the team is letting Deer and Fox make this decision. He's going to test it out throughout the day, get treatment, be a shoot around that's going on right now and then pre game test it out. But you win game one. So I do wonder internally with the spurs, yeah, they're probably going to want him to, to see can he play. But how much consideration do you have to do? How much caution are you going to have given that you just won that game one? But this is of course a must win type of environment for Oklahoma City. I'm very curious to see how Chet Holmgren comes out against Victor Omanyama on defense. He was a guy that was one of the top three guys and defensive player of the year voting. So Chet Holmgren, Shay Gills, Alexander, J Dub, a lot to prove tonight.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so any other news that we need to think of? Is there any other injuries before we make any picks? Oklahoma City favored by six and a half yet again.
Connor
A lot.
Shams Charania
No, no injuries on the Oklahoma City side. J Dub came back in game one. He's been full throttle. San Antonio just has the dear Fox situation. I thought I was going to get injured last night at Madison Square Garden, literally the way the, that arena was trembling. I, I kid you not. It's like an earthquake. Like when Jalen Brunson's making those like banking shots. It's like a four point game, then it's a two point game, a three point game. Like the building was literally shaking. So thankfully I'm good.
Pat McAfee
Okay. We're proud of you. Way to battle through an electric environment. Okay. Continues to happen. And shout out to Madison Square Garden and still bringing it. All right. We appreciate the hell out of you, Shams. You're the best. Ladies and gentlemen, Joining us now, 13 year NBA vet, friend of the program, co host of the Knuckleheads podcast, ladies and gentlemen, Q Ridge. What's up, Wash? Dad.
Q Rich
What's good? What's good?
Pat McAfee
What's up, man? I don't think you're washed. You can still shoot. Probably do if you had to do it. I appreciate the incredible merch though. We'd love one of their shirts if we could get them. We've been doing that on the show
Q Rich
Lately, man, I shout out my folks, man. My people over there watch dad, man, take care of the patting the boys up there.
Eric Johnson
They are fans.
Q Rich
They do throw it on and put it up there. They good folks over here. Watch this.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Sick. Large, tall. Okay, we'll get the size. Okay, let's talk. Speaking of sizes, let's talk about tonight. The size of two of the main events here. Chet and Wemby are obviously massive topic of discussion. We just heard Sean say as almost like a news break, I'll be excited to see what Chet does defensively against Wemby. We've been talking a lot about that because those two look very similar. How do you expect Oklahoma City to respond to what Wemby did in Game one? And how do you think they're going to try to stop what this special, I mean, unique alien is doing right now in the biggest stages?
Q Rich
Yeah, man, Wemby's unbelievable. He's in that game the other night. This shot, he's showing. Everything he did the other night was incredible. Now what the Thunder have to do, they have to respond. And, like, it's been talked about a lot. If I'm checking that as a. As a player, as a man, I gotta stand up and say, coach, I. I want that matchup regardless of whatever's being suggested. And like you saw, they threw several different bodies at him. Jalen Williams, Caruso, Lou Dort. Chet Holmgren is the one that everybody wants to see, that we should see facing him. And that. That's. To me, that's the best matchup for Wemby. That likes the likeness and size and body shape and body structure. He's the only one.
Pat McAfee
Why wouldn't he? Yeah, I've been so confused all week. We've been talking about it, and people are like, you know, Caruso probably the right guy for that matchup. It's like, how.
Connor
How.
Pat McAfee
I don't know basketball well enough. Why would he not be guarding him? They just think he's better on, like, the second best player, so they can kind of eliminate him and then double Wemby. Like, what is the. What is the thought?
Q Rich
I'm not sure what the thinking is behind it. Maybe they think they can bother him with smaller guys or whatever because he's not as strong and he's not going to, you know, like. Like, back you down like a Shaq would in the post or something. But to me, if I'm Wimby, I mean, not Wimby, if I'm chatting that situation and I'm in the locker Room while this is being said to the team like, hey, this is what we gonna. I'm. I have to stand up and say something and say, hey, wait a minute, wait a minute. Coach like, me and this dude got history. I want this matchup. Now ultimately the coach is gonna have the last say, but I would at least have to speak up and let. Let it be known that I would like this matchup and I want to take that challenge on.
Pat McAfee
It's crazy that it didn't happen, but we assume that Chet is hurt it and we assume he'll answer. This Oklahoma City team is unbelievable. And obviously they could have won game one. What would the conversation be if that was the case? Instead, now we're talking about Wemby maybe never losing a basketball game game again. Let's talk about SGA in Oklahoma City. He gets doubled immediately upon breaking half court. That happens to him, I guess, on a very regular basis. That means somebody's going to be left open because it's just a math game. Caruso hit last time. How do you think SGA responds? What do you think Oklahoma City's about to face? And how do we watch them bounce back like I assume they're going to do because they haven't lost two in a row, probably years maybe. I have no idea when the last time they did that.
Q Rich
Yeah, I expect SGA to do pretty much when he did last game. I mean, he said that all year long in the last couple years, that he really reads the game and watches and sees what he needs to do and where he gets is where he can fit in. But I'm impressed by his poise and not forcing anything. I do expect him to be a little more aggressive tonight trying to find, you know, trying to find more chances to go one on one on one and do his thing because they need him to score more. But I still expect him to kind of start out like just letting the game flow and if his teammates are the open guys using those guys, and I don't know if it'll be Caruso or who it would be to get the open shots this time and knock them down or not knock them down. But I think, think to a certain extent that's how SGA is wired, man.
Adam Schefter
He.
Q Rich
He doesn't really like force the issue. And you saw when he stopped, when he broke the 20 point streak. He didn't do anything extra or go crazy to try and get the points. He kind of just lets the game dictate itself. But I do expect him to have some level of. Of Aggression that is. That is more than last game.
Pat McAfee
So he's pure point guard at his soul. You know, my boy, he can get buckets. Yeah, yeah.
Q Rich
Pure Hooper. Pure Hooper.
Pat McAfee
He's going to make the right decision seemingly every time. That is kind of what Chris Paul talked about. Whenever he was on the other day, he was like, shay made every right decision. Like he's a quarterback out there. He made every right decision. And CP3 said the same thing you said. There is like would like him maybe to start, you know, calling his own number a little bit more maybe. But that's as a point guard, I feel like he feels like if there's a guy wide ass open, it is my job to get the ball to the guy that is wide ass open open. That's a better shot than whatever I'm about to do. But I think SGA forgets that. Like, hey, whatever. You're about to do the hoops big. Yeah, you know, whatever. Whatever you're about to do the hoops big. Can't wait to watch that battle tonight. Last night was epic. Go ahead, Tone.
Tone
Yeah.
Connor
Q. Obviously the story of the night was the comeback. But what led to the comeback? I we put together a highlight reel or maybe a lowlight reel. It depends on what team you're rooting for. Of just James Harden getting isoed a thousand times with Jalen Brunson. What was your. What were your thoughts on the fourth quarter and then the Cavs defensive plan and kind of what Brunson did to go off.
Q Rich
So a couple things like, first of like number one, if I'm James Harden and I. I want to say this, but start off saying this by like, I got crazy respect for. For James Harden and his game and, you know, everything he's done and what he means to the game. But in a situation like this, I mean, it's tight shape of me guarding different people. Kobe, whoever it may be, when somebody start tuning you up like this, you gotta. You gotta give them a shot. Like, obviously in this era you can't do nothing too crazy. You might get, you know, technical or thrown out. You don't want to do nothing like that. But when somebody is just lining you up, seeking you out every time, every time and they've scored this many points in a row, at some point, I don't care. I'm just gonna hit you. You, I'm going to just foul you and let you know that you pissing me off and that it might go further if you continue this just to try to do anything because nothing clearly he couldn't guard him. He couldn't guard him. And they continued to go to it and exploit it. That's the first thing. But secondly, from the team and the coaching standpoint, if the coach ain't going to switch it as a teammate, somebody got to step in and say, yo, nah, let me get them. Like this is like, what are we doing here? Somebody. It was a failure on all different sides for the coach to change the matchup. A player, a teammate to step in and say, I somebody, we need to do something. Or for even Harden to say it himself. You don't want to concede defeat, but at some point we want to win the game.
Pat McAfee
Coach Atkinson said that Harden's one of his best defenders after the game. And all I. All my algo was feeding me was he was the worst defender in history of basketball. So I was just. So it was such a juxtaposition in it all. But like the Knicks just getting that hot that quickly in the way you were saying it. Jalen Brunson just saying in the huddle, I think there is a moment where he starts talking, by the way, hey, get me on hearted. Maybe that's what he's saying. You know, we will run on a 40 to 11 run or whatever the case was insane. Fourth quarter, absolutely epic start to the NBA playoffs thus far. Why is Atkinson saying that about James? He's just trying to gas him up, try to keep him motivated because he understands James can hear all this. And can James respond to this in a big way like he did in the previous series?
Q Rich
Absolutely. I think, I think he absolutely said that to, you know, support his guy and to stay behind him and, you know, show him support. But yeah, I think, I mean, to me Harden can definitely bounce back. I was surprised at this game. I felt like going into the game, I was looking at his numbers like historically against the Knicks, he plays well in the garden. Against the Knicks in general, he has a winning record against them. I felt like it boded well for, for him in this series, but obviously he didn't play as well as, you know, anybody would have liked them to. And. And then the defensive, the defensive part of it is, you know, that's all that everybody's talking about. So that's a tough one. I will say this though. It. They were probably. The Knicks got down to when they cut it down to like it was either 16 or 15 or 13 or something like that. And I tweeted, I say they got a shot right here. I said they can make the push and do A couple more, like, because in this NBA, the three pointer is such an equalizer that points is no longer like this, you know, unfathomable thing to come back from like it used to be. And so once they got at the 15 and the crowd started to get a little more into it and you saw Brunson start to come alive, and I was like, if he score again, like they need to double immediately, the same way that people are doing sj. They got to run two guys at them immediately and just get them off the ball and see what anybody else could do. But they let it get too far and too far. And then once they got onto I said, okay, we got a game.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but.
Q Rich
And then you could see the change in Cleveland. They, they, they played timid after that. It was like they tried to get the air out of the ball and run the clock. And then it was like once it turned up, it. It felt like they played timid to me.
Pat McAfee
And all we are is 1/8 of an inch away from the Merrell 3 for them winning. Crazy night. You're the best. Basketball is killing it. We appreciate you. You're not a wash, dad. That's Q Rich. Yeah, we're back on the other side. See you then. Goodbye.

Sports are the greatest. We're so incredibly lucky that we get a chance chance to chat about him. The western conference finals battle Tonight, both in hockey and in the NBA. Last night, an instant classic took place in Madison Square Garden for the Eastern Conference NBA Round one. I mean, we are in the middle of champions trying to find their way to their trophies. The toxic tables here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. One half of the Hammer done. Cowboys AP Ton is here. It's not just the playoffs. Football's delivering. There's a guy in jail right now.
Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. That's crazy. Old days are happening.
Connor
We're getting some highlights. That's cool.
Pat McAfee
A lot of teams having a lot of guys show up. New cultures are being set. New precedents are being set for quarterbacks.
Connor
New faces, new places.
Ty Schmidt
Great news out of some camps.
Pat McAfee
What's that?
Connor
Not some.
Ty Schmidt
I mean, the word on the street is if you thought Drake May was good last year, wait.
Pat McAfee
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, from an attic in Ohio is a man who's a college football national champion, a Super bowl champion, a Rod cup winner, Laser Gemini, AJ Hogg, Hawker. Good news coming out in New England, it sounds like, for Drake May, but
AJ Hawk
I did actually hear that. We hear. We hear all great things coming out of New England. So, yeah, it's going to be another super bowl year, right? Con man.
Ty Schmidt
Don't. Don't be a. Okay. We're talking about Drake May. Good things coming out of camp about Drake May. Okay, He's a weed.
Pat McAfee
But right now, it is a very positive time for all teams. You know, some teams are kind of set in their roster because they don't have a lot of money. Some teams still have a lot of money and can figure it out out after the OTAs, what they might need before they head into training camp at the end of the summer. But I think right now, most optimistic time for most teams. Yeah, we're seeing highlights come out from social media teams. We're watching people dance. We're seeing good coaching happening. We're seeing celebrations. We're seeing highlights. I saw Carson Beck put one in an absolute bucket. It's like right now is all good times, I think. And when you're building up the belief in your team potentially being able to win it all. Josh Allen's already got handshakes for everybody. Keon Coleman right there is coming out. Hey, it's a make or break year for Keon Coleman. Joe Brady loves Keon Coleman. It's like right now feels like all positive, which I absolutely love. A.J. hawk.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, it is. And this is a time in the NFL where you tr. Like, it really is a great time for players. If you Think about to build your culture because you have this on the field stuff. Yes. But you're only at the facility, what, four or six hours a day. This is the time when you go and you work on the field. Then you get to actually hang out off the field and go play golf, go do whatever it is. So this is a key time, I think, for teams like to build those relationships. Truly.
Pat McAfee
Beers with the lads on the golf
AJ Hawk
course and say your team goes Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, which they don't do anymore. A lot of times that Tuesday night you all go out and hang out and. Oh, yeah, just great times.
Pat McAfee
Cards games happening. Card games happening all the time throughout. Oh, my God. Just good old days.
Ty Schmidt
There's only one team that really has a tough clip. I don't know if you saw, but there was a TUA overthrow and a pen.
Tone
Yep.
Pat McAfee
That was the one clip I saw.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, I believe. Believe.
Pat McAfee
Who pulled out the news or social media?
Ty Schmidt
I think it was the news back
Connor
seam routes and they didn't hit.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. One was high, one was low, and people were like, you got to be kidding me.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Well, I mean, who would have guessed? Let's go to Miami Dolphin fan Bubba Gumpino. Could you have guessed that coming out of Falcons camp?
Eric Johnson
Yeah, I'm really happy to see two on Atlanta.
Pat McAfee
He looks really good, Malik Willis.
Connor
Been working really hard all off season,
Pat McAfee
just spinning darts all over the place. So best of luck to the Falcons and TUA for sure. I saw Malik Willis throw a baseball out of the stadium for his own,
Ty Schmidt
but his legs looked.
Adam Schefter
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Also mashed in the batting cage after that.
Tone
He did the exit velocity on a couple of his ropes. Crazy.
Pat McAfee
That is good. Yeah. Like wide receivers, tight ends, those types of guys. Really, really good.
Connor
And he's been ripping balls across the
Pat McAfee
middle all day yesterday.
Connor
I mean, he's firing darts in Miami.
Pat McAfee
Boys, I believe in Malik. They need to just let him do what he is from the football. Just commit to it. Everybody's so scared to do it fully because of the quarterback position. If he gets hurt, you're kind of screwed. But it's like, what if you never reach the apex of a player because you're scared to let him be who he's supposed to be. We're kind of saying that with Justin Fields, like, Justin Fields is clearly the best runner of the ball. Whenever he's on the field, whenever he's running with it, he is faster than everybody, seemingly smarter than everybody. He has good awareness on where to run to set up blocks. He's like an Incredible. But he's correct. We need him to throw. We need him to throw. It's like, okay, definitely has to throw better, of course. But why wouldn't we want to utilize what makes him maybe an NFL quarterback? And like, well, one shot, it's over. It's like, what did you ever get it? You know, like, I think there is
AJ Hawk
a weird spot to be in it. Like to be. It's almost like you're being punished for being a great athlete and not punished. But hey, to a true, like we think old school dropout quarterback, you need to be able to, you know, take three five step drop, pull the trigger. But if you are an absolute freak athlete that's faster than most every guy on the field at that time. Time, yeah. It probably would benefit you to pull that thing down, maybe have some design runs. But then all of a sudden like the better you get, the more scared they get for you to get hurt.
Pat McAfee
Lamar. Exactly. The better you get at running the ball, the more scared they are that you're running the ball. Like it was happening with Lamar Jackson. Obviously in his first contract, all anybody said was not going to be able to last long enough in the NFL to be able to do this. Then he makes it through his whole first contract. Then he gets franchise tag, makes it through there again, wins an mvp, does the entire thing like you're going to pay. You think he's going to, he's like, he's proven that he can avoid hits and everything. We, we got to see him be able to throw. Then he becomes the best passer in the NFL. Remember, he's like, qbr was better than everybody else and his passer rating was better than everybody else. And it was, it wins another mvp. And it's like he's still not gonna be able to do all that run. It's like, okay, but that is kind of the old narrative. There has been unique situations. Lamar Jackson being that. How about him attending more offseason stuff than he's ever attended before and maybe mentor cracking in some to a new culture over there in Baltimore. Everybody's talking about John Harbaugh, okay, Because he went to the Giants, he picked up and left, took a lot of Ravens with him. Nobody's talking about what's going to happen in Baltimore. Is this going to be a refreshed team, a happy team, a hungry team with Minter, what are your thoughts on how this Baltimore Ravens squad looks as a whole and what is Butter going to be cheering for this year?
AJ Hawk
Yeah, I mean, I think, I think with Minter, they may have like, some, I don't know, like, you re energize them a bit. I'm sure. For Lamar, for anybody. It's true. No matter what level you are on the team, when a new staff comes in in, you kind of have to prove yourself to them. And if you have any pride as an athlete, you want to show them, hey, I want this new staff to know, like, I'm in here daily. I run the show. This is my. Like, I am the absolute leader of this offense, of the team. And you want to prove to those guys that you are who they probably think you are.
Pat McAfee
All right, last question here about this whole thing. The reason why we're talking about this, because Lamar missed voluntary workouts. Some other guys did as well. Back in the day, it was not a big deal. Now we cover everything. How do you feel about missing?
AJ Hawk
Yeah, I mean, there's things come up all the time. You mentioned it earlier in the show, like family stuff, charity events. Yeah. There's reasons to miss a time.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Maybe there's a golf game that has to be played, you know, not that I. I had to beat everyone because I was a tweeter and I was a punter. So I have to be. There's no. Hey.
AJ Hawk
And you usually have. I. I would assume they still have you attend a certain amount of the off season workouts. Like, they'll tell you if you need 85 of the workouts, you get your workout. Workout bonus.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I heard that was a big thing in Green Bay. I heard that was a big thing in Green Bay. A lot of the cities that aren't destination cities have the off season workout bonuses in place because, like, in la, Herbert, like, probably lives out there, you know, Dallas, a lot of guys like,
AJ Hawk
live free money, though. It's great though. It's free money in your contract. You don't. Like I was. You can put as much as you want in there because all I have to do is show up, which I'm going to do anyway.
Pat McAfee
That's your job. That's kind of what fans think now. Whenever guys miss OTAs are like, it's your job. You're getting paid. So this is. You can't show up for six days here, here in the middle of May to do your job. That's how fans feel. But like the voluntary OTAs, it's like, hey, do you want to come say what's up? It used to be viewed like this.
Connor
Yeah, it was definitely how fans feel.
Pat McAfee
It used to be viewed like that. Now it's like, hey, you get paid a lot of money. You need your ass needs to be this guy's committed. What are we doing? You want to go do a charity event? Raise $100 million for cancer research? Okay. Do it on your own time. You don't have to work three months. Try to win. Remember you didn't make the playoffs. You remember that you had a lot of time during the playoffs to do all this shit. That's what fans say. Yes, that's what fans are supposed to say. And we appreciate that as we move forward now, ladies and gentlemen, it is another absolute honor to be a part of the future of somebody that might be carrying the next generation into a grind and pound physical football world. Every once in a while we get an opportunity to be a part of one of the biggest decisions of an athlete's life. Who's committing? Where foxy,
Q Rich
Where you going next? Recruiting is like chess. Got a 4D. If you want to be the best, announce it on the show. Oh, where you gonna go? Oh everybody waiting they all wanna know.
Pat McAfee
Okay, ladies and gentlemen, we're about to add to that highlight reel with a big man.
Ty Schmidt
Big man. Huge.
Pat McAfee
Hey, Giant of a man who is wildly athletic out of Grayson, Georgia. He's a Grayson high school Ram and he's about to ram his ass through some college football conference making his collegiate football decision here today. Today, ladies and gentlemen, 6 foot 4, 305 pound Jordan AG. How you doing man? How you doing Mr. Agbonoma? How are you doing brother? How's life? I'm good, how are you? Good. How is your 6 foot 4, 305? We were watching your highlights. Okay, so every time we get to do this, we realize quickly that your guys generation is so much bigger, faster, stronger and better at football than maybe any generation in history. And I don't know if you've seen these highlights yet, AJ this guy's going to the, to the stands. He's going to take a guy over there. Yep, he's going to his stands. That's him all the way over there. Everyone is you moving bodies. You're playing tackle in a couple of these. They're projecting you to be an interior offensive lineman. When did you grow into the offensive line body? Have you always been a massive body mover? How did you find your way into this particular field, Jordan?
Jordan Agbonoma
I mean, I've always been big, you know. Also when I was playing basketball back in the old days, just playing basketball, my coach, I used to foul out every single time I was the big guy on the field. So my basketball coach talked to my dad, get me into football, and I've been playing football ever since.
Pat McAfee
How's the recruiting process? Having basketball feet while also having the power and the mindset to want to punish people makes up a perfect offensive lineman. How has the recruiting process been for you over the last couple years, especially now with the nil component and everything else that could potentially muddy the waters a bit?
Jordan Agbonoma
I mean, it's been good. You know, I started, started January of my sophomore year. It's been turned up since then. So it's been a great time in the nil part. I mean, for me, it's a blessing. You know, I can take care of my family early, just help all the people I want to help out and people, the people help me out. So it's been a blessing for me.
Pat McAfee
Jordan, I love everything you're saying. I love watching your film. I love the fact that the future of the offensive line is seemingly in great hands. And speaking of future, why don't you go ahead and take the floor here and let the world know where you're going to be playing football at next.
AJ Hawk
All right.
Jordan Agbonoma
You gotta thank my mom, dad, brother, sister, friends, family, my coaches, everybody. Without anything else to say, I'm committing to the University of Nebraska.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Obviously, in Georgia, I believe Georgia was a part of the conversations. Texas A and M was a part of the conversations. There was a lot of schools obviously that wanted the 6 foot 4, 305 basketball feet, having powerhouse offensive lineman, top five in the country in all rankings. Why Nebraska? Jordan, congrats to you.
Jordan Agbonoma
I mean, all the coaches are great people. You know, I mean, I've been there. I've been there twice. And then even those two visits, I mean, I mean, I've seen practice, I've seen, seen the city of Lincoln. I've seen how Coach Wade coaches, coach rule, coaches. This is a great place. This is a great place for me to come in early and start early and play as a freshman and build my own legacy there.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so we're excited to see you get in there. How do you feel about entering Big Ten football? You know, it's going to get. Hey, it's going to get cold, Jordan. Hey, it's going to get cold out here. Big bodies, a lot of hand fighting. Obviously a lot of meat in Big Ten football. Are you excited about that? Because it feels like that's your start. From what we've seen from your huddle.
Jordan Agbonoma
Yes, sir. I'm just out of the play, coach.
Connor
Love that.
Pat McAfee
You're the greatest Tell your family they did a phenomenal job. I hope they are listening. We can't wait to watch you at Nebraska. And coach Rule, I know is probably over the moon right now that he has you coming to town. Congratulations. Thanks for letting us be a part of this, sir.
Brandt Snedeker
No problem.
Jordan Agbonoma
It'll be a great.
Pat McAfee
Hey. Ladies and gentlemen, Jordan Aguinald.
Ty Schmidt
Yay, Jordan.
Connor
Good energy.
Pat McAfee
We had multiple, we had multiple graphics there because you know, we get a heads up. But also that has changed in the past where somebody has made a different decision. That was a. That's huge for Rule.
Ty Schmidt
Oh yeah. Ty was pissed when that, when that one came through.
Tone
No, I said that makes sense. He wants to go and he wants to start his freshman year. Nebraska would be where you would go compared to, you know, A M. Georgia. So that's final.
Pat McAfee
This was his final five. Listen, Florida, Miami, Georgia, Texas A and
Tone
M. That is kind of surprising. But you know, to your point, I mean we, we've heard about, you know, the nil that Nebraska has available too. And if, if you get a kid that from Georgia who goes up there and likes Lincoln, likes the campus, doesn't mind about the weather, like as of right now, it would make like, why wouldn't you want to go play in the Big Ten? So it's not, I mean it's not that crazy.
Pat McAfee
Congratulations, Jordan. Congratulations to Nebraska. Six, four, 305 put together. Well, that'll work. Yeah. And he, hey, moves well.
Tone
He's a road crate.
AJ Hawk
Imagine, Imagine being a high school kid. You know, you're like a 240 pound three technique and this guy's just blasting you all game long.
Pat McAfee
You gotta watch film all week, knowing what's coming. And then you get there, he's even larger than he had math tests on Friday morning.
Ty Schmidt
Friday, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Oh man. Well, I got tonight Agbonova. Good for him. We're lucky to be a part of these stories.
Eric Johnson
Yeah, they're awesome.
Pat McAfee
We really appreciate doing it. And you know, immediately upon it happening, there'll be a bunch of people saying, how many more schools he gonna go to? You're a part of his first announcement. He might change before he even gets on campus. It's like, I do believe that is currently an option for these guys.
Ty Schmidt
So we don't do transfer care.
Pat McAfee
That's not our thing. We are just, we're very happy. And congratulations to Matt Rule and Nebraska. Congratulations to AJ as well. We chatted about this a little bit on the show and then we did a little follow up. This guy's a beekeeper.
Connor
That's right.
Ty Schmidt
Big time.
Pat McAfee
This guy's an actual beekeeper.
AJ Hawk
Now, very early on, very early on. I don't want to act like I know what's going on.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. This is an interesting thing, though. You bring these bees into conversation for us, and then. Do you see they're at the White House now? There's. Is there a little bee? Big bee?
AJ Hawk
Huge.
Connor
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
I'm working for big bee. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Doesn't it feel like maybe you were targeted and preyed upon? Because now that the bees are becoming conversation, you have fallen. Fallen in love with the bees. We talked to AJ he baited in this feral swarm of bees, these wild bees that have been living out there on their own. Okay. Not. Not barn bees. Not. Not created bees. No, no, no. These bees that have been out there honeycombing.
Tone
Yeah.
Connor
Feral bees.
Pat McAfee
Homeless bees out out there in the streets of the bees community.
Connor
Gave him a home.
Pat McAfee
He gave. He, he, he. Yes. He baited them all in. Baited them all in. Then he captured them. And they said instead of being mad at him, they view him as a hero. He's giving them. And now he said, now it's my job to take care of these bees so that they're happy here. But they're all workers. He said, a couple of my friends buy beehives. They get them from places that are created spoiled bees. These things aren't good at work.
Connor
Russian bees.
Pat McAfee
You actually. Yeah, the Russian bees are not because they're spoiled, because they've been brought up in captivity. This feral swarm, it sounds like you're actually proud of. Just want to let everybody know the way he was talking about so.
AJ Hawk
Very much so. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
They're a good group.
AJ Hawk
Great group. They're workers, I'm telling you. I said I checked on them last night. Letting them go. I'm letting them. I didn't give them six or seven days to settle into the hive, but yeah, I peaked on them last night. Of course, they are replicating quickly.
Ty Schmidt
They look, do you.
Connor
Because your friends have beehives. Is there an ever any underground bee fighting leagues where you take your hives and put them in a room together, comes out alive or.
Pat McAfee
Can't be doing that.
Q Rich
No.
AJ Hawk
But I could. But if his hive. If he doesn't take care of his hive over there, they might swarm and come right over to my place.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. So that is the thing.
AJ Hawk
Same with mine. Same with mine, too. So I got. I'm going to keep my guys. Trust me. You know, they're feral, so they. They're not scared to leave like, they, they have no issues. I got to make sure I give them good condition.
Pat McAfee
The way you were talking, the way he was talking to this face. 10, 15 minutes, I'm talking to him.
Connor
Never heard him talk about his kids like this ever.
Pat McAfee
He was like, you know, I got to keep these things happening private. These things were just smart, smart. These, these things will get up and leave. They'll go find another hive.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
If I, if I don't treat them right, they'll get up and leave. And it's like, well, how do you stop them from doing it? You got to earn their trust. You got to earn these bees.
Ty Schmidt
Become pharaoh.
Pat McAfee
And then he told me about two and a half years, maybe we can get some honey. So this is a long game for the allergy season and I'm thankful.
Ty Schmidt
Great. For the garden.
Pat McAfee
I'm thankful that you were doing it. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, coming to you is live from. I don't know, a movie scene. It looks like, ladies and gentlemen. Some call them Big Horno. You might know him as Horny. You also might know him as John Soul and Johnny. Ladies and gentlemen, 18 year NHL veteran Stanley cup champion Eric Johnson.
Eric Johnson
Helicopter.
Pat McAfee
Hey, can you go full screen on him real quick just so we can see this is out of a movie scene here. So where are we right now?
Eric Johnson
We are in Lexington, Kentucky. The beautiful bluegrass and some of the mares and babies enjoying. Yes, some sunshine out here.
Pat McAfee
All right, so I know pink sky at night, sailors delight. Pink sky and morning sailor take warning or something. I know that if cows are laying down, I think that means rain is on the way that I see the big cloud. Will the horses act any differently if rain's on the way? Are they the ones telling. Are they a Doppler or you guys potentially gonna all get drenched at least the same time here?
Eric Johnson
So this is actually. I have a. This is a horrible story.
Pat McAfee
Jesus.
Eric Johnson
Horses are really attracted to lightning. Like they're just hit more often. So I've actually had a horse get struck by lightning and die on the spot. Because a lot of these. There's these waters out here. You see these waters in the background? Yeah. So those have pipes that run all the way to it. And so the lightning will hit that and the horses will get affected. So I've had a few get struck by lightning over the years.
Brandt Snedeker
It's.
Eric Johnson
I should probably quit the game now because that's just maybe the worst luck I've ever heard of. But it's. It's nice to be out here. I mean, Just, I had, I had the vet over here this morning. Her arm was all the way up, the mare checking to see if she was pregnant with the ultrasound. I mean, we had everything going on this morning, so it's been a busy morning, boys. Oh, yeah. She was not pregnant. He was not pregnant.
Pat McAfee
You're not grandpony. Yeah, okay, got it.
Eric Johnson
So do you, do you know the behind the scenes of how the mare gets bred and covered by the stallion? Are you familiar with the process?
Pat McAfee
I don't think everybody knows atone digs those, it sounds like, which I appreciate. I don't know if you've been to certain shows in Mexico, but if you could please kind of explain to me the process. I know that when somebody wins, they stud them out, they say, and then I'll see some things on the Internet.
Tone
Whether it's a big sleeve, it's big,
Pat McAfee
one of these, or if it's actually happening, we don't know for sure. But that's what's happening at your horse farm all day, every day. Is that kind of what your business is?
Eric Johnson
What, so these, these are the mares and they'll get on the van, you know, to go to the stallion farm to get covered. So all these stallion farms where they have these big expensive stallions. Every farm has something called a teaser stallion. And the teaser wears like a big chef's apron, right? So he's covered and he goes up to the mare to make sure she's receptive to the whole process. So the teaser gets screwed out of this whole deal. He gets no action. And once the mare is known that she's receptive, they take the teaser out, the big stallion troughs in, then he covers the mare. So it's a whole process. You do not want to be the teaser.
Pat McAfee
Okay, don't want to be the teaser, it sounds like. But it does sound like the horse business is a pretty sophisticated one that has process. You're really in this thing. You're in the horse business. Should we be talking about you as if you are horse guy as opposed to NHL guy? Like, is this your full commitment now?
Eric Johnson
I, I love it. I mean, it's. I, I liken it. Boys, when you join a golf country club, you are never going to see that money again. You're going to pay your monthly dues, but what are you going to get out of it? Tons of friendships, tons of great experiences. You have to love the game to get in it. And I love horse racing. I love the breeding. You know, we, we try and be profitable and make money by selling these babies at auction every year and just getting out in Kentucky. Lexington is such an underrated town, a beautiful place. And just to have this, this place in retirement. It has been awesome with the, the moms, the babies, all the racing out at Keeneland and the beers down at Camel Club in downtown Lexington. You just can't beat the vibe down here.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, they're so cold happy that you're crushing it. A couple chili ones too, maybe. Go ahead and take that down. As you're looking at the Mares kind of figure their life out, getting shown or whatever the case is.
Eric Johnson
Poc some puck, though.
Pat McAfee
Bingo. You're a stallion. There's some stallions. There's a stallion out tonight, which is obviously a huge piece of the conversation. Makar out. What does this mean? This Golden Knights team obviously has been rallying since Torts has taken over very late in the season, right before the playoffs. The Golden Knights have seemingly found who they are. Team with a lot of moxie. What does this mean for the Avalanche with the injury to Makar and how do you think the Golden Knights can potentially steal? I don't want to say steal. I apologize. The Golden Knights will take that as disrespect. But you understand what I'm saying here for this Vegas team? Is this the time and even if McCarr was playing, would they have what it takes to potentially make this real in here in Colorado?
Eric Johnson
I think Vegas is going to give Colorado a tougher series than maybe everyone thinks. Since Torts has taken over in Vegas, they've lost two, three games, I think maybe less, including the regular season in the playoffs. So this is a team that really knows how to win. They won the cup in 23, Colorado one in 22. So it's two veteran teams going at it. Eichel, McKinnon, two of the best two way centers in the NHL. Some might even have McKinnon as the best player in the NHL right now, especially if he can win another Cup. But having Makar out, the best description I can give. If you're not a, a, if you're not a natural hockey fan watching the show right now, it would be like a prime time. LeBron James not being in the lineup. That's how big McCarr is for the ABs and for the NHL. He's. He's just as good on the offensive side as he is defensively. He's a guy that's out there when you need a goal and when you're defending the other team, trying to put one in your Net. So he's just that good at both ends of the rink. He's an electrifying talent as far as what he can bring offensively, but sometimes you see these guys that are so good on one end and they sacrifice for the other end. He's not that guy. He can do it at both ends of the ice. I don't know if Mark Stone's going to play tonight for Vegas. Their captain. I don't think he is. He's got the back issue. But I think it's going to be a heck of a series. I have it going six or seven games, and it's going to come down to goaltending at the end of the day for me. I don't know if Carter Hart can be a guy that can shut down the AVS in this long series. Like, it's probably going to be, but it's going to be. Be too heavyweight. Squaring off.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so let's talk about a couple of the injuries that you mentioned there. Stoner's had a back for a bit. Long time back. Seemingly always shows up. You thinking he's not gonna be out? We'll wait for official word. I don't know if that's been released or not. McCarr, though, feels like with you hockey guys, you have to be, like, damn near dead to not play. Okay. Because the that comes out after series is once people get eliminated is like, he was playing in the series with, like, a fractured foot. It's like, well, how is he? He was playing with. What was the. The one the other day?
Ty Schmidt
L2 or C2. C1 vertebra.
Pat McAfee
Like, actual things.
Tone
Broken neck.
Pat McAfee
And then I forget.
Ty Schmidt
Internal bleeding for the Flyers. The guy.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. It might have been Tampa a couple years ago, where somebody was actually, like, getting pushed up onto the ice. Yeah. Chuck couldn't stand up.
Eric Johnson
Yeah. And we didn't because of his ribs, Right? Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Didn't even find out. So afterwards, though, because you guys don't put anything out, there's no, like, it's just upper body or lower body. That could be anything. Okay. The upper body is made up of a lot of the lower body. Maybe Dick or is his groin or do you break his femur? Yeah. Like, what. What is it? It could be anything with hockey. So Makar missing this feels like a big deal, or is this just for him to be able to get back sooner? How do you kind of read the Makar? Because I guess he was on the ice this morning or something like that. So he can't. Like, how do you judge these types of things when you sit, when you don't sit in hockey, a sport that like, I think expects everybody to play all the time.
Eric Johnson
For me, and I'm just speculating. I don't. I don't. I played with these guys. I'm really good friends with them. I'm not going to bug them during the playoffs. I'm not going to fish for, you know, any injury gossip or anything like that. But to me, it feels like it's worse than they anticipated because they've had a little bit of time off since they closed out Minnesota. Right. They haven't had Carolina time off 10 or 11 days, but they've had time off. So I do expect him to play probably in game two or game three. But Colorado is deep enough, especially on the blue line, which is crazy to say when you're saying you're going to miss probably the, maybe the best player and the best defenseman in the world out of your lineup. I think Colorado's deep enough back that there to sustain that loss of Makar, but it's going to be a big task, like not only. And I talked to you guys the other day about how good Quinn Hughes and Makar are at the top of the power play. That's where they're going to miss him the most. They'll probably put Devon Toews at the top of the power play right there. He's a lefty, McCarr's a righty. So there's just a different dynamic up there. When he gets the puck, McCarr can shoot it on the one timer from the other side, but now Taze will be able to shoot the one timer and it's set up on McKinnon's side. So that's the difference. Tonight it's probably going to be seven taves, it could be 70 Milinski at the top. You might see Burns up there as well, but it's just a different look without Makar up there on the power play. He's so good distributing shooting, so it's going to be a big loss, but I think Colorado is good enough to overcome it.
Pat McAfee
Good call in the Montreal power play, by the way. Good calling that. It wasn't Cole, buddy.
Eric Johnson
Wasn't Caulfield. Yeah, yeah.
Pat McAfee
So you probably went too close to the son. You should have just stayed at the power zoom out, you know, just zoom.
Eric Johnson
I would have been the king if I didn't say Caufield. Right. I would have been the king. But now I'm nothing.
Adam Schefter
I'm done.
Pat McAfee
Come back you're somebody to us, damn it. You're somebody to us.
Ty Schmidt
Stanley cup champion. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You are standing cup champion. On that note, Connor has a question for you. We need. We need his advice for from you. Wake up, Horno.
Ty Schmidt
I'm sick of you potting over there, especially. I know that's not good for the horses. We know that.
Eric Johnson
What's with the Scottish action? Talking about.
Pat McAfee
Come on, Johnson, let us teach you hockey.
Ty Schmidt
Never been to Saskatoon, you buffoon. Geez Louise. But speaking of these cup runs, what is the biggest thing as we get deeper and deeper into the playoffs, like when you guys won the cup for you, what was kind of the hardest thing for your team to kind of get through? It feels like right now is the rust rest conversation for both sides of it, with Carolina and the AVs dealing with a lot of rust, perhaps because they've been off for so long and the other team not having enough rest. Like, what do you think is the biggest thing the teams are going through now? And what was kind of your experience when you guys were at the Western Conference finals when you guys inevitably won the Cup?
Eric Johnson
Great question. So to me, especially in the regular season and how condensed the schedule was this year with the Olympics, guys were playing realistically every single night. And then all your best players went to the Olympics and played a gauntlet of hockey for three weeks. So this rest that Carolina has, that Colorado's gotten in the first and a little bit now in the second round, it's. It's so big. Like, I can't overstate it enough. It is. Is to get four or five days in between series or 10 or 11 that Carolina got. You just don't get that type of recovery. And I don't want to hear anything about the rust. I do not believe it. In the playoffs, if you can get rest, it's so big for not only physically on your body, because let's be honest, half the team's getting shot up in their ass with Toradol before the game anyway, and they can't feel anything. You know, it's like the miracle drug, right? So. So, I mean, the mental part of the rest that you get is so big. The grind of. Let's. Let's. Let's be real. You're playing, say, on a Monday, you're traveling on a Tuesday, and then you're playing again on a Wednesday, really the whole way through, unless you're lucky enough to sweep a team or beat a team in five. So I don't buy into any of the rust because the rest Physically, mentally, all that stuff, it overweighs all of it to me. I think it's so big this time of year because you just can't find it during the season.
Pat McAfee
Why you punish me? Finding time is a good thing, especially in the playoffs, in a best of seven series when it can be absolutely grueling. We saw it last night with the Knicks, though. They had a little Ross DJ they had a little rust Horno. We hope they won't.
Eric Johnson
What they come back from, was it
Pat McAfee
41, 31, 22, but they went on a 41 to 11 run or something like that.
Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Or 20.
Eric Johnson
That's what I meant. That's what I meant. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
You was.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, but they had run Ross D.J. yeah. You're a big time. Basketball, hockey.
Connor
Love basketball.
Eric Johnson
You don't want to see me shoot a basketball. It's embarrassing.
Pat McAfee
We know you're a hockey player. We. We've already seen it in our minds. We've seen you do that. How about. Can you throw or.
Eric Johnson
No, I'm kind of battling this little rotator cuff thing. I've been doing some. Some incline presses at the farm.
Ty Schmidt
Hey.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Eric Johnson
Tore it all.
Pat McAfee
Hey, hey, hey. It's great to hear that you guys are in that world as well. It makes sense after watching you guys play and everything. And we've done our grandstanding for Toradol before. We, like, let everybody know. You shouldn't take it unless you have to play a professional game. Okay. With other people that are allowed to take it. And it's definitely going to make them feel better.
Adam Schefter
Sure.
Pat McAfee
So he. His team, Green Bay packers over there, didn't offer it.
Eric Johnson
Wow.
AJ Hawk
Never had it.
Eric Johnson
That feels like how many Super Bowls?
AJ Hawk
I have one, but. Yeah. No, no Tort zero tour. Toradol.
Pat McAfee
I don't know.
Eric Johnson
Impressive.
Ty Schmidt
That's ethical ball right there. That is ethical medicine.
Pat McAfee
I wonder if they're gonna be able. I wonder if they're gonna be able to win one in the modern.
AJ Hawk
I don't know.
Pat McAfee
Era. I genuinely.
Connor
They still do that age. Do you know.
Ty Schmidt
Be fine.
AJ Hawk
I would assume so. Yeah. I don't know for sure, though.
Pat McAfee
I genuinely want. And listen, once again, we're not promoting anything.
Tone
If Micah wants Toradol, he's gonna get Tora doll.
Pat McAfee
I don't know. That's what kind of what AJ was saying was. No, that's kind of how they operate.
Connor
Well, you can sneak it.
Pat McAfee
The locker room.
Connor
Do it yourself, though.
AJ Hawk
You think it's just yourself with Toradol?
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
What movie are you guys Watching the program.
Connor
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You think that's what's happening? It was happening in our Loch groom
Connor
in high school, so why wouldn't it?
Pat McAfee
Was it what?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Was it really?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Connor
You know the guy. Rest in peace.
Pat McAfee
Excuse me? Rest in peace. Oh, no. He did get to play in college football, though. It did pay off. That's not happening.
Eric Johnson
Have you ever taken it before? Go golf? I'm kind of embarrassed to say I have. No. No. Iv. You're sitting in the spa. You know you're laying back right before. Right? What's that?
Connor
That's what booze is for.
Pat McAfee
No.
Eric Johnson
Yeah. Well, that was later in the round. That was after the turn. That was after the turn with the chard. Hot dog. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I took short on the iv. My swing's awful embarrassing, really. So non athletic.
Pat McAfee
You got that rotator cut thing.
Eric Johnson
We'll use that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, definitely. All right, let's move along. Whenever we talk about a little bit of puck, it's not just the players that are on tour at all for us in the NFL. The coaches were lining up over there as well. AJ Has a question about that.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, Horno, We. We talked about torts on here. Obviously. Vegas, the Vegas coach. How about Colorado? This Bednar character seems like the just cool, calm and collected. He doesn't ever seem phased. He seems just awesome. His hair is amazing. He dresses great.
Eric Johnson
Great.
AJ Hawk
What can you say about Bednar here?
Eric Johnson
Yeah, I think the biggest thing from playing for him is he's really relatable. I think maybe this has changed over the course since I first got into the league when my career was going on early on in, you know, 2006, 2007, coaches were more pricks. Right. I think, you know, you walk down the hallway right in front of them, you kind of put your head down. They put their head down. There wouldn't be a ton of talking beds is super relatable. And I think the. The biggest thing is I've noticed he's gotten a ton of confidence since he first broke into the league. He came in late. I don't know if you guys remember. It was 2016. Patrick Wa had just retired abruptly. Sorry. Sorry. Resigned abruptly in middle of August. So that's. That's really, really close to the season starting. And. And Bednar just won the AHL championship as that's the. The farm league in. In the NHL. And he got hired right before that. We went on to finish last that season, dead last in the NHL. And Joe Sakic, our GM at the time, had a decision to make. Do I bring this guy back or I give him another chance. He brought him back and he's rewarded him in spades. I think a lot of people are questioning, should Bednar get fired if the AVS don't win the Stanley cup this year? I think it'd be a foolish decision. One way or the other. This guy would be scooped up in two minutes. He's, I think, one of the top coaches of the NHL. He's embraced analytics and the eye test. A lot of coaches, they just used to rely on the eye test. What am I seeing? He uses the data with his eyes, what he's seen during the game to make decisions on his lineup and his roster. He's got that cool surfer dude vibe. He's dressing better than he ever has. I don't know who's helping him with his outfits. I know it's not him, but he's a great guy. I really enjoyed playing for him.
Pat McAfee
I like that you just had to take a shot to his shins there late. Like, yeah, the guy's fat fashion is ass, but somebody is certainly helping him in that particular fashion. What is the coach doing? Okay, so obviously we know in other sports there's offense coordinator, defense coordinator, There's a lot of that happening. There's bench coaches in the NBA, they deal with this. You deal with the Wings, you deal with this whole thing for the NHL. What? There's special teams coaches, which is what? Penalty kill and everything like that. What is the head coach doing? Just scheduling, feeling, narrative, mission. Like how. What. How much coaching is happening game to game, like in game. How much of that is happening during games?
Eric Johnson
So it'll change a lot from the regular season to the playoffs because you're playing the same opponent for so long, right in the playoffs. So Bednar is a guy that. He's the only coach I've played for in my career. I think I played for five. Maybe he does almost. Not all the work, but he does a ton of the presentation and meetings himself. A lot of guys will set it off to their assistants to run meetings, but he runs almost all of his meetings. So we have a head coach, a forward coach, and a defensive coach and a video coach and a skills coach. The forward coach runs the power play. The defensive coach typically runs the penalty kill. Of course, the head coach has input and all those things, but the forward coach will run the power play meeting, the defensive coach will run the penalty kill meeting with input from the head coach. But Bednar will run his Pre Scout meeting 5 on 5, 4 on 4, 6 on 5, the morning of the game, in front of the entire team, where a lot of coaches don't do that. Bednar shows a ton of video. There's a ton of explanations. If I had one critique of him as a coach, his meetings were too long. Every player would say that players hate meetings. He'd probably say my attention span was too short. Actually. No, he would say that. But he does a great job of just doing a lot of the work himself. It's really unbelievable to see because he came up through the East Coast League, which is level, before the American League, and then he was in the American League. So he's used to doing all that stuff. But he does a ton of the work himself, of course, with the help of his assistants. But he's. He's a coach that does not really rely on a lot of people to do a lot of the work for him. He works his ass off, and that's. That's why he's such a good coach.
Pat McAfee
It's unbelievable how good he looks if he works his ass off like that as opposed to what everybody else does. I think that Oklahoma City, when he G League coach, too, Dags before he went up there.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Tone
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
There's been a few of those.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. And they've been like, coming up through the system, you learned obviously, the building, the team, the organization, the players, the ideas, the mantras, like, I think that's a good little feeding ground, obviously. And then sometimes you'll just get your ass fired and then picked up at another place. Quick. Sully did a lot of great years in Pittsburgh and then he got fired. And then again, exactly what you said happened. Somebody will pick him up in two minutes. He wanted a Rangers, and then the Pens wanted a playoffs and the Rangers did not. Now, would you like to break some news? E.J.
Eric Johnson
let's break it.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I don't know. You would have to be the one that would break the news. Is McDavid coming. Is McDavid coming to the Pittsburgh Penguins?
Eric Johnson
I'm going to. I'm going to have one hot take for you right now. I think one of Austin Matthews or Connor McDavid will be on the Minnesota Wild in the next three years.
Tone
Wow.
Eric Johnson
That's my hot take. I think they're going to find a way to get. They need a center. That's Minnesota's clear Achilles heel. They need a number one center. I think Bill Garon finds a way to get a Matthews or McDavid in Minnesota to push them over the edge. I really do. That's my one. That's my one hot take for the day, boys.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I like that we're doing hot takes from a horse farm now. Minnesota. Billy G Said he's going to get active, too.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, Horno, when you hear Billy G Say that nobody on the team is safe as far as like, you know, it can be moved or anything like that, if you're on that team, does that make you feel better or does that one of those things where it's like, hey, that's part of the business? Because as a Boston Bruins fan, I would love to see Matt Boldy done
Pat McAfee
in the when he was coming to the Pens.
Connor
Yeah, maybe.
Ty Schmidt
Well, he's a free agent, so it feels like after next season, if Jackie Hughes doesn't bring his brother home, then maybe he does.
Pat McAfee
Oh, he was kind of sucking up to him yesterday on air.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, they were kind.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, Jack Hughes was sucking up to Quinn Hughes on air, trying to get him over there to New Jersey. Sorry, we just interrupted that. But what does Billy G Mean when he's saying that?
Eric Johnson
So it's, I think, unnerving as a player. I've been in a position where I thought I was never going to get traded when I played in St. Louis and I got traded in my third year, then there very surprised. And I've been in a situation where I thought I was going to get traded and I did. So I kind of wore both of those hats and both are really uncomfortable positions. But I like that he said that because at the end of the day, he's right. Are there guys that you're going to not listen on? Probably, if you're a gm, but if someone knocks your socks off with an offer, you're. You're going to take it if you think you make your team better. So I think he's aggressive and Minnesota showed me a lot this year. They're a way better team team than I thought they were and they especially raised their level in the playoffs. If they get that center, whether it's McDavid, Matthews, Hughes from New Jersey, I don't know what they're going to do. But I like that Bill Garon said that. I do like that because they're. They're a team that their windows wide open. They just need that one more piece down the middle. And I think they're a perennial contender. I mean, imagine that series against Colorado if they had an elite center. They didn't have Jewel Erickson, ech with injury, but they gave Colorado the best team in the NHL right now, bar none. In My opinion, a real good run for their money without really any center depth. So we'll see what happens. But. But I like that line. I think it's good. It keeps everybody honest and nobody safe, bar none.
Pat McAfee
Jordan Davis with a banger. You as well. We appreciate the hell out of you from that horse farm. Tell those mayors to stay away from the lightning, please.
Connor
Yeah.
Eric Johnson
Thanks, boys. Cheers. Have a great day.
Pat McAfee
Hey, stick tops to you,
Q Rich
big time.
Pat McAfee
You didn't take your shirt off today or. No. Good work, Eric Johnson. That guy's got a future.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Y. He should just be maybe live streaming all the time.
Connor
Sure.
AJ Hawk
You ride horses? We didn't ask him if he rides the horses.
Tone
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
I assume he's like a cowboy.
Pat McAfee
We certainly saw saddling.
Ad
I would.
Connor
That's a good question. You think he rides?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Me so cowboy.
Connor
For sure.
Pat McAfee
You think he's watching a mayor go through what she's going through? Not to hop on the back of that thing. Thing.
AJ Hawk
No.
Ty Schmidt
I feel bad.
Pat McAfee
I think it'd be pretty dangerous. Those horses are incredible species. Oh yeah. I. I think that is something that every time I watch like a horse thing, I. I happen upon it. You learn more about these creatures. They're up there in my top five animals. Top five animals.
AJ Hawk
Every time. Every time I see a horse in person, I'm like, geez. Like, they're just. They're amazing.
Pat McAfee
Well. And allegedly they have an ability to kind of sense things. That's why I thought about maybe the rain. But I guess they lose that sense in another way. They love lightning so fast. So fast. They need to. They need to step away from the lightning. It sounds like. But hey, that's the pipes underneath. How could they ever know?
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
How could they ever know they're out there? They did a lot for our. Our culture as a whole. This is a pretty big part of our history.
Ty Schmidt
Huge.
Connor
Before Hank Ford.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
That's how we explored the. The. The great West.
Pat McAfee
It was before Hank for.
Connor
Right before Hank Ford and the model T. Around 1920. Yeah.
Ad
Horses.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Horses are a big deal.
Ty Schmidt
Let alone Washington.
AJ Hawk
If I'm going to BBC Politics.
Pat McAfee
Pipes.
AJ Hawk
I'm sorry. Can we get some PVC pipes buried in the ground?
Connor
They don't cut it.
Pat McAfee
Well. You want.
AJ Hawk
He said it's caring. He said it's carrying water. Like why it's not going to. Lightning's not going to be Kentucky attracted to a PVC pipe.
Q Rich
I'm.
AJ Hawk
Water pipes.
Pat McAfee
How many miles of pipe do you want this guy to lay? There's already been water pipes out to the farm probably for what, 50, 60 years.
Tone
I two year job on trench and all that stuff. You going to do it?
Q Rich
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
How much?
AJ Hawk
Depends how many horses of the year? Depends how many horses you lose a year.
Pat McAfee
Well, John Deere certainly has the pro. The product. You need to do that. Without a doubt. Okay. No questions asked. But that's going to take some time.
Ty Schmidt
Money, resources.
Pat McAfee
It's popping. It's precision.
Connor
This guy.
Pat McAfee
You got money for the horse. All you need is one leak from this thing that you're putting in there. And what now the horses can't drink now they starve. Yeah. Dehydrate and they die. Okay. Age. Yeah, let's worry about that. Instead of the piping that's bringing the cold dysentery, let's talk about some other news stories. Okay. Around the world and shout out to these horses battling out run.
AJ Hawk
God forbid you got to run a extra long hose out there.
Ty Schmidt
God forbid all the horses die.
Pat McAfee
Are you going to unravel that hose?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, I got it.
AJ Hawk
I'll do it.
Tone
Super long hose. Get a bunch of kinks in it. Exactly.
AJ Hawk
I gotta get Tim Allen to teach me how to wrap it up properly
Q Rich
so it doesn't kink.
Pat McAfee
Listen, I don't know how long we can do this one, you know, but what I've learned is even this one is now being defeated by these new rubber hoses that are not supposed to tangle, but they just find new ways to tangle now. They're sick of the tangle free stuff. That's not tangle free.
Connor
These extension cords these days, you aren't even supposed to do it that way.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I'm not supposed to do this. Get the out.
AJ Hawk
Who's they?
Pat McAfee
Exactly.
Connor
I still do it, but.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah, of course you do.
Ty Schmidt
Big extension cord.
Tone
Extension cord's got the cranks you can just put on there and just them are nice.
Pat McAfee
I think they also got a. Not mine.
Tone
Yeah, yeah, they do.
Pat McAfee
They got a. Yeah, you want some
Connor
weak ass extension cords? Yeah, sure.
Pat McAfee
No, the problem with the is it inevitably sits on top of each other and stops. And you got to like re.
Connor
Yeah, I got 200 foot, so.
Ty Schmidt
200.
Pat McAfee
All right, Tone. I got good news for you, ladies and gentlemen. 10 international games coming right up. Yeah, Good for the world, good for the globe, good for the game. Okay, this is what we like to see. And that's obviously just a Brazilian picture that was utilized. That country was added to the countries that were hosting NFL games of importance, regular season games just a year or two ago. Now they're traveling to Australia for an actual game. First game of the season for the Los Angeles Rams, who are going to be on prime time throughout the majority of the season. One of the biggest stars of the NFL season next year is down in Australia to start against who? All the San Francisco 49ers. One of the biggest fan bases on earth. I guess no game is safe now. Any game could potentially be made an international game. There used to be some games where the home teams could say we got to keep this home game. We got to keep this home game game due to fans or due to the business or due to the tradition. I guess the way it was written is no game is safe. Any game could go anywhere. Yeah, that's NFL football now for more on that, we head over to one half of the Hammer Cowboys. AP tone. More countries experiencing more games is good for the league.
Connor
Yeah, more team.
Pat McAfee
Why are you making chat GPT graphics or grok graphics saying shrink the game. It does feel like there's people, people that are kind of, they're okay with the international growth, but we don't need to be overdoing it. Is seemingly the reaction from most or some. I guess.
Connor
Yeah, even I was originally fine with it. I mean but then it reaches a point where it gets a little bit out of control and now, now the big part of this is not going from eight to 10 games, which is, you know, it's significant. It's the non projected games. If I have to watch Packers, Bears, Steelers, Ravens, Patriots, Bears, Bills in France.
Tone
Yeah, I agree with that.
Connor
Might be out.
Ty Schmidt
I'm good with that. Grow the game, baby.
Pat McAfee
You're selling.
Ty Schmidt
Because if we're getting like a Steelers, Ravens, maybe some of you want Patriots
Connor
say it's supposed to be in Gillette,
Ty Schmidt
let me walk you through this.
Pat McAfee
Tony.
Ty Schmidt
No, you interrupted me.
Connor
Supposed to be hosting the Bills and now they got to host them in London.
Pat McAfee
You're going to be having happy about that.
Ty Schmidt
Let's say they're over in France and all of a sudden France is going through a little bit of a, you know, down year and people wanting to play sports. Exactly. France doing France things. All of a sudden they watch a Steelers vs Ravens game, they watch a Packers vs Bears game, they watch a Patriots, Bills game and everybody in their country starts smoking cigs and doing dip.
Pat McAfee
I think everybody in France does smoke.
Ty Schmidt
That's true, that's true. But stuff of that nature, wine sales go down, loggers, chili ones, beer sales go up. All of a sudden we're talking about countries completely changing their GDP and generational Kind of sports and people growing up as more so like what's the teams.
Pat McAfee
You don't think Dolphins, Cardinals could do that? That's what I'm saying.
Tone
Bingo.
Pat McAfee
You don't think Dolphins, Cardinals. I don't do that in France.
Tone
I don't give them that. I don't give a. About any of that. I don't want division game pivotal division games played another other countries. Tony's exactly right. If, if Packers, Bears, Packers, Lions, something like that is in China or something like that.
Ty Schmidt
Boy, we're not going to communism.
Tone
Not yet.
Pat McAfee
We're not going to coffee. Yeah. There's not a game in China.
Connor
I'll give it a second.
Pat McAfee
Okay. There's not a game in Japan. There was before though. There will be precedent for games, NFL games.
Connor
They can go to Australia, they go to Japan.
Ty Schmidt
They might figure out some Saudi if they, if they get it done.
Tone
Saudi's interested, they're sniffing around.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, yeah.
Pat McAfee
See everybody I think is because it's the NFL, it's the biggest league on earth. So I do.
Ty Schmidt
Communist China ain't getting a division game.
Tone
You don't know that. They might play a football game in Tiananmen Square before the end of the, before the end of the decade.
Ty Schmidt
Let's go to Mount Fuji though. I mean Japan would be.
Pat McAfee
Everybody's overreacting. It's good for the game.
Connor
We're overact about the division stuff.
Pat McAfee
The division stuff can't have that. I think I played. Now granted, Colts played Jags in London.
Connor
Well, that doesn't count.
Pat McAfee
What was the last time they. That's disgusting.
Ty Schmidt
But what if it's a Jacksonville gate? All right. Col 1 in Jacksonville all of a sudden. You know what? Let's take it to France and then
AJ Hawk
you guys might win.
Pat McAfee
All right. We're talking about the world. We're talking about sport. Remember, more sports in the world is good.
Connor
Okay, agreed.
Pat McAfee
I stand by that. I don't think they should have worded it like, hey, the big rivalry game that we all look forward to in the cities that used to have like city rallies to go hate the other team. They should have said in there that they're not going to take those.
Ty Schmidt
They should have said that Bill's Chiefs in Moscow. Sign me up.
Pat McAfee
See, that's your problem. You don't like. You don't think Panthers, Falcons over there could do the trick. I don't love that. Panthers.
Tone
Falcons is fine.
Connor
We'll allow that.
Ty Schmidt
Alan Mahomes, the Kremlin. Show me, show me something.
Pat McAfee
Rod Putin would score three times. I Mean, we understand that, but we just. We think sports for the world is good, but we would like to keep the reason why the sport is potentially beloved. Why the sport is beloved.
Connor
Well said.
Pat McAfee
You can't be taking the rivalry matchups and traveling them around.
Connor
Remember, this is a guy that wants a Super bowl internationally.
Ty Schmidt
That's not what I said. I made some salient points as to why it would make a little bit of sense.
Pat McAfee
And I think what he was trying to say is for the good of society. Society. We need more ball.
Ty Schmidt
Oh, the world doesn't need football.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Football tells such a beautiful story.
Connor
It does.
Pat McAfee
Any body shape can become a professional. Anybody can play. Any socioeconomic status, any political affiliation can play football. Now with flag, it makes it much easier as opposed to the pads. And we're gonna. It's gonna take a little bit for some of these countries to buy into ball. But I'll tell you, if they get a chance to see the Arizona Cardinals.
Tone
Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins take each
Pat McAfee
other, I think they're gonna love this game. I think we need to appetizer first before we start sending the. The. The steak in there. Like Niners, Rams. That's crazy. But Australia, from watching Aussie rules football and from their culture, and they also have Aussies that have been in the NFL, so they know the sport. I think that country is ripe to fall in love with American football. So I appreciate us taking a game there. We just can't be taking a big one.
Connor
These nations made their bed when they picked soccer and cricket and rugby, and
Pat McAfee
they had their chance.
Connor
They could have been a football country many, many years ago. They made the wrong choice.
Pat McAfee
They made their bed. We live in 100 years.
Connor
Now they got to sleep in it.
Ty Schmidt
Those countries, Panthers, Dolphins, and said, wow, would I ever watch this again? We got to send some of our head honcho.
Pat McAfee
Carson Wentz needs to play.
Ty Schmidt
Boom.
Pat McAfee
In all these games.
Tone
I'm good with that.
Connor
I'm good with that, too.
Pat McAfee
All right, we. We'll continue.
Ty Schmidt
He's the global qb.
Connor
Jamis and Carson are always the quarterback of the teams that go over.
Pat McAfee
Let's talk about actual global game.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
And global competition.
Connor
Sure.
Pat McAfee
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to make a massive announcement. In the golf world. Oh, everybody knows the Rider cup, which is USA Vers, Europe, the presidency cup, which is coming right up this fall, is the United States of America against the world, excluding Europe. We lost to Europe. We're going to get their ass next time. But we have a chance on redemption in the President's cup to really claim stake to the golf game yet again. But if we lose to the world. Dark days ahead in the States. United optimism. A man who's been tasked with being the captain of the President's cup team. Fresh off a Myrtle beach win for the PGA a couple weeks ago and at one time the 2007 PGA Rookie of the year icon Brian Stedeker. How you doing, Ball?
Brandt Snedeker
Doing good, man. Thanks for having me. I'm still laughing about the last discussion, so bear with me here.
Pat McAfee
Do you have anything to add? Would you like. Because you are.
Brandt Snedeker
I just, I mean just the thought of Tiananmen Square getting brought up football. I mean, I love these conversations. Why I'm a huge fan.
Pat McAfee
Thank you, captain. Appreciate that. We also appreciate the fact that you're leading the lads in a redemption hopefully after what happened in the Ryder cup against the world's golfers in the President's Cup. I believe today massive day because we're about to have the captain's assistance officially in announced. Would you like to announce who will be joining you and what are the jobs and the gigs of all of them?
Brandt Snedeker
Yes, my first two assistant captains and naming the day that their job is to kind of keep me on task to make great sandwiches for the guys. To kind of be the moral support for the team. Hell yeah. To help me not mess up. Most importantly. But my first assistant captain is going to be Jim Furyk, recently announced 2027 Ryder cup captain. So obviously 225. He was the President's. Yeah, Jim's the best. He is a winning captain in Montreal last time we played the President's Cup. So have somebody with his experience on teams can be extremely valuable.
Pat McAfee
Okay. Love that. Okay, so you got Jim Fury helping you out. Not just making sandwiches, also sharing some game. Who else is a captain's assistant that will be leading us in this world battle of golf, the President's Cup.
Brandt Snedeker
The previous Ryder cup captain, Keegan Bradley will be my second.
Pat McAfee
Let's go, baby. Northern cup of Northern lads here. I obviously appreciate the decisions that were made and obviously this is still pretty far out. September, October, whatever the case is and how do we feel September, how are we going to boat in this? Because I'm going to be honest, Europe had a lot more moxie winning the Riders Cup. Europe had a lot more fun. Europe obviously was making every single putt. Is it a battle of who's hot or what? Is your real goal to get this team back on top of the golf world?
Brandt Snedeker
Yeah, I think you hit on the head I think just trying to get these guys as well. You know, these things are so stressful, you know, being part of a team, not wanting to let your team down, not want to let your country down. I think, you know, at times in years past, we probably cared too much and probably put too much on ourselves. So, you know, I think my role as captain and using Jim and Keegan as helpers is to kind of make sure these guys are as comfortable as possible, make sure we have a good plan in place, make sure the crowds rock. And we're going to be in Chicago. What a great sports town. Madonna is going to be our biggest build out ever for President's cup on U.S. soil. So it's going to be rocking and we'd love to have you there kind of broadcasting for the week. So that invitation's out there for you guys if you want to come up. But Chicago's a great sports town so we're looking forward to having a great time.
Pat McAfee
Okay, listen, if we're a part of American greatness, we certainly love that, especially in the sport world as we can rally around the lads as they take on the world who will be rallying around them. Hey, no pressure. We're 13, 1 and 1 in these things. Okay?
Ty Schmidt
Not bad.
Brandt Snedeker
Bad, exactly.
Connor
Pretty good.
Pat McAfee
Let's go. Brandt, we appreciate the fact that you're the captain. We're very thankful for the opportunity to potentially travel out there. We'll have to check the schedule. It is in the middle of football season. But if we can get out there, we certainly would love to celebrate what you, Keegan Furyk and the boys will be cooking. Thank you for joining us. Branton. Congrats on the win. Just a couple weeks ago, that had to be awesome. That had to feel pretty sweet.
Brandt Snedeker
Yeah, thanks a guy. I got one for the old guys. You know, it's nice to know you can still do this every once in a while.
Pat McAfee
Hell yeah. And listen, I got this thing. This thing just makes every putt for me. Is that right?
Brandt Snedeker
It does. I actually switched to it as well, so it's unbelievable. It helps me, can help anybody.
Pat McAfee
Why is this thing, why am I putting good with this though? Is there a reason? Like what should I think about why it's working so well?
Brandt Snedeker
Don't overthink it, Pat. I think we. I think that's a pretty good rule for you, is not, not overthink anything.
Pat McAfee
Smart. Let me smoke a little bit more. Ladies and gentlemen, it's brand new. That's a good coach. And you hear what he did.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
He's bringing that to the President's Cup.

Pat McAfee
Did we break the news about that two years ago that's coming up here in a year. I forget there was some we broke
Connor
that Fury was going to be the captain of the 2025 one in 2023
Pat McAfee
we broke or 24 one. Whatever. Yeah. You remember we broke the news like 10 months ahead of time and we were pumped because we were part of some news breaking golf. We like golf. We love golf. But then immediately as it happened we were all like man, we're not going to talk about this for a long time.
Tone
No. And we didn't.
Pat McAfee
But this we will.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Keegs gets a chance about sned, understands the program talking about Tiananmen Square happen and then obviously fur Pittsburgh guy let's go win. Let's beat the world excluding and in turn the world excluding Europe. Good luck to you. We hope your golfers show up. Cuz you think Scotty's losing Back to back international affairs. Yeah, right. Snyder's hat. Did you see that thing? Oh yeah, yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Looks sick.
Pat McAfee
Those three letters mean so much and they're going to win.
Connor
Hell yeah.
Pat McAfee
A long time from now we'll talk about it then we'll continue as SportsCenter takes it over from from here we continue digitally.
Ty Schmidt
Goodbye.
Pat McAfee
We only made one graphic with both Captain's assistants on them.
Ty Schmidt
Sure.
Pat McAfee
You guys saw that happening in real time.
Eric Johnson
Yep.
Ty Schmidt
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Because he wanted to give love and praise to each individually. And as he was doing that, I actually thought to myself, we should have definitely made two different graphics. But instead got to the first one. Love that guy. Big wide shot. Hey, Jim. Congrats. And then as soon as he says Keegan Bradley, it's like here they are. By the way. Here they are.
Adam Schefter
Here.
Ty Schmidt
They wouldn't want to be on se.
Pat McAfee
They're.
Ty Schmidt
They're a team. They're so close together that they would want to be next to each other on the graphic.
Pat McAfee
That's the type of rally that. That we need. Cuz remember, the Team Europe golf team is all on a group chat for years.
Ty Schmidt
Singing songs, drinking beers, inside jokes.
Pat McAfee
They're doing a.
Ty Schmidt
We got DeChambeau.
Pat McAfee
Oh yeah. Speaking of.
Connor
D. No way he's going to.
Pat McAfee
We got bad news for Liv.
Ty Schmidt
What?
Pat McAfee
Live golf?
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Anytime you do money projections on the Internet, you have no idea who has what information. Okay. Because our. Our type of contract and deals that we've been a part of have been misrepresented for years online and in different publications and search engines and A AIs and everything. Because if the information is out, it's just going to be assumed to be accurate. Even though it might not be accurate at all. That is just our situation at all come out openly and said that's not the right number. Okay. And it just continues to go. Anybody you look up like what their net worth is normally not going to be accurate because you have no idea what all they're a part of and only things. These are all just like projected things. So it's hard to understand money and like the actual shit story with a business both what they're saying will live. We need $250 million really soon. There's only a little bit of money left from the Saudi Piff Fund. And by the way, 250 million, you give today 20 months, we'll give you a return. I don't know if anything has been able to be able to become such a money maker so quickly. So I assume they have a great idea for this, but allegedly it's being reported that Liv needs 250 million.
Connor
Okay.
Pat McAfee
A quarter of a billion now. Okay. We need it now. And less than two years from now, you're going to be making money on that. I'm excited. I would like to see the pitch deck on that entire thing. I would like to possibly. You. I would like to see the path to success that they have. Because if they do have a path to success that they're saying within 20 months, which would be a crazy turnaround just for any company. Any company that isn't headed by some massive AI tech company, $250 billion turnaround profit from a company that is at damn near zero right now is an absurd. That's a very aggressive thing. Just from everything that we've experienced, Elon has done it 10 times. Okay? So people think that that's just a natural thing because we see fucking Bezos and we see Elon and we see these fuckers that are at the. Ari Emanuel just got a fucking football team. You see these people, people that are at the top of these things that run a few businesses very well. We don't remember about all the other businesses that happen that do not do that. Turning a $250 million investment into a profit in 20 months is a very aggressive pitch. If that is what they are pitching, I would like to see what it is. Has to be a content play, obviously. Is it a TV network deal? Now that the Saudi money isn't in there, they probably think that maybe it's easier to do. They have D. Shambro. Right.
Tone
For now, that's the biggest thing, is how many of these guys. How many. Like, it's. It's already kind of. These guys are already kind of exploring,
Pat McAfee
like, still there, though.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, but is he.
Tone
Is he already exploring going back to the pga? Because, like, a lot of the. I mean, if. If that's the idea and this doesn't work.
AJ Hawk
They all are.
Tone
That's what I'm saying. So it's like, if they get this investment or whatever, and then by the time they actually do get it, and half of the guys who we know are playing on live right now have already started the process of going back to the pga, then it's like, how is it going to be profitable? Like, you're basically holding on to the fact that we have Rom. We have DeChambeau. And then if those guys go like, what do you have?
Pat McAfee
You know what I would do? Okay. And this is just me talking, spitballing here. I have Cam Smith, Rambo, Bombo D. Shambo. Who else? Phil. Yeah, yeah, Something right now, all the people that I've. We've heard of, I would just have them play against each other at different courses. Miked up. Prime time golf. Yeah, that's what I would. I'm doing night golf. That's the only way. And I'm having them play against each other at actual Courses they're wearing, they're doing. We're doing a golf broadcast. I would just take the stars, turn them into playing golf against each other. They have their own little league. Can even have some celebrities come through and play. If you want to do something like
Connor
tgl on actual golf courses?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, yeah.
Ty Schmidt
With celebrities.
Pat McAfee
With like, I think. And you can have the other guys golfing in there too. Like whatever you want to do. But the leaderboard needs to be all their big names. I need to be able to see it.
Ty Schmidt
Golf carts.
Pat McAfee
And they have to do something different. And now without the Saudi money, maybe somebody will pick that up.
Ty Schmidt
Well, I think we know who. Mike Rapole. He doesn't give a fuck about that. 20 months. You need to call him right now. And by the way, he'd probably love the TGL mix. Kind of trim some of the fat that people really don't care about. Because to Ty's point, like, we need to either get our hands on these contracts or find out exactly what it is. Cuz what Rom said made it seem
Pat McAfee
like he's never getting out of there.
Ty Schmidt
Cut our hands off if we try and go back.
Pat McAfee
That was when he was involved, though
Connor
he's probably not as afraid to get out of his contract now.
Pat McAfee
No, that was after P. I think
AJ Hawk
he said that if the league folds, he can leave before 2029, obviously.
Connor
For sure.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Cuz that would be. What's that called? Whenever you breach.
Connor
They would breach there.
Pat McAfee
That would be a breach.
AJ Hawk
I mean this would be the most like as Pete them. Will this be a Shaj situation if they figure this out and turn it around? Don't you think?
Pat McAfee
Yeah, I would like to see what the pitch is. Yeah, I would love to be in there just watching that unfold. Hey, because you see it in Shark Tank, obviously. That's real life. That is how shit actually gets done. Normally it's not just multiple people that are sitting there. Usually it's one company. You go in there and you're selling. There's questions, there's asking and boom, there's activity. There's that whole thing getting up there and saying, this is what we think we could turn. This is what we need 250 million for. Okay. This guy, we. They're offering some crazy contracts to these guys. This guy's owed 180 million.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Like what if that is the case, we owe this guy $75 million over the next year or something like that. That's probably a big part of the problem for them. Yeah, that's why they need the massive amount of money. But we think if we keep them, we'll be able to generate amount of money. If we invest this much at 250 million in 20 months. The amount of people that probably said,
Tone
okay, yeah, everyone they've mentioned that to so far. Yeah, okay.
Pat McAfee
But that's good. I would like to see what the idea was like. I would like to see what the.
Tone
That's what, like, how can you really improve or change? Like, I mean, is that enough? If they go to prime time golf and we have a bunch of these guys who aren't what they used to be, like, is that enough to completely save this thing? Like, it. It feels like we already got the announcement like, Liv is dead, this thing is done. And now like, wait a minute, wait a minute. No, no, it's not. No, it's not. We're gonna pump some more cash into this thing. We're gonna tweak a few things and we're gonna be right back where we said we would.
Pat McAfee
We need a little bit more of the cash to pump into this thing. Possibly you giving us that as we continue to go. Golf's great. YouTube. Golf has become a very viable business for a lot of different companies creating content. So maybe they got a content strategy, man. So yeah, you know, remember D. Shambo's chip over his house?
Tone
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Wait, TC that.
Connor
So $5 billion. Five billion wasn't enough, but 250 is going to get it done.
AJ Hawk
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Different leadership, different decisions, different ideas, different content.
Connor
Still golf, but louder.
Ty Schmidt
Maybe YouTube does it.
Tone
They should go play it like munies and have these guys shoot like 57, 56.
Pat McAfee
Put lights in the courses.
Tone
Yeah.
Connor
Night Bryson was doing breaking 50 at the latest major. But on the front nine,
Tone
dog.
Pat McAfee
All right.
Ty Schmidt
The number that was taken from the Internet.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I mean, at some point, everything that's ever been said has been said by somebody on the Internet. I mean, that is a real thing. I do appreciate the position that we are in, though. Every once in a while, get you got that from blah, blah, blah. It's like, okay, I definitely did because I'm a huge fan of that person. I have a lot of time to see everybody else's shit.
Ty Schmidt
Actually, when I log on, search that person's account and.
Pat McAfee
But on that note, I am honored that human potentially said the same thing that I said. And I often wonder if other people that said something I said, they get bummed out about, you know. You know, Pat kind of says, hate that guy. I wonder if that happens in the world that we're in. You know, I do.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
We're going to be around a lot of these people. We're going right into the belly of the beast.
Bruce Brown
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
Not the feral. No, no, not the feral swarm.
Tone
No, we kind of are the feral swarm.
Pat McAfee
Yes, we kind of are a little bit. Yeah. Because they did bait us. Yeah, they have kind of baited us. They've kind of baited us in there. It's gonna be a big deal next week. Aj I'm actually very intrigued on how it all goes. Honored. Honored.
AJ Hawk
You want a tux?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. See, what do we do here? You know, because there's the stories of like what the south park guys.
Ty Schmidt
Guys did the first couple of that was my plan.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
Biz Cash.
Pat McAfee
I believe it's Ms. Cash. It's gonna be a good show, I assume, right? This is about shows.
Tone
Just saw YouTube is streaming it.
Pat McAfee
Okay, here we go.
Ty Schmidt
Yep.
Pat McAfee
Sports Emmys is what we're talking about. It's the first time I think we've really even mentioned that ESPN Mike Foss, more specifically Pasta Boss. That's what they say. He's kind of on a run right now. Now A little bit. Housing is kind of. Yeah. Right now.
Connor
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Heater housing. Yeah, I believe is what you could potentially be calling all that. But Foss, I think so. I don't want to sound like a dick, but the awards thing, I feel like if you have a job and you're able to talk about sports and make a living, like that's an award, I. I feel like that's enough of an award. And then when I find out that the awards are. You have to self sufficiency. Like you have to say like, hey and pay in like be. We would like to be awards. That made me feel just kind of like uncomfortable with the whole thing. Like, so I'm. I'm telling a bunch of people who for a long time have failed, have not been the biggest fans of how we. We operate at all openly. I think a lot of them have. Have said that and acted in that particular fashion. So it just felt weird that we have to like kind of submit to potentially win from these people. Like, it was just a weird thing. I didn't like it. I didn't like how. How it all went down. I didn't like how invested a lot of people got because it felt like they were getting their hearts broken. When I'm like, hey, I think you do a good show. I don't think you should be as bummed out as you are. And then the people that win Obviously were pumped for how happy they were. But then it's also like, does this mean it? Like, I don't know what it means. So Foss Da boss, he's the one that submitted us, which we appreciate Foss doing that because what has come is a very cool, like, moment for a lot of us. It's like, hey, it's cool that our peers, I guess, would be in this thing have said like a welcome to the biz almost, you know, in their own way. Now do we think it's taken a long time and has the road been very difficult to kind of see eye to eye with these particular people? Yes. But it is very cool that we're getting acknowledged, you know, if that makes sense, even in the nomination for the award and if we were to win, that's be outrageous. But I do fear that we're going to be walking into a place that is going to be buzzing there a little bit. And on that note, we ride in
Connor
there, we should be right.
Pat McAfee
That's going to be a good time in there.
Connor
We should be riding in there correctly dressed as well. It's not business casual. Texas faucet is suits.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, that would make sense.
AJ Hawk
I did see some people look very dressed up.
Pat McAfee
The suits thing would make sense. But I was at a super suit event a couple weeks ago. Wasn't a terrible as I thought it was going to be. That was crazy. Yeah, that was a pretty eye opening experience. It's like, wow, these people aren't just like the absolute worst, I guess all the time. That's pretty cool. Had a couple drinks with these things. They were great. It was incredible.
AJ Hawk
Yeah, Usually. Usually, yeah. Once you meet people and you hang out with them for a little bit, you're like, all right, they're cool. Like, I enjoy. I enjoy being around them.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. I kind of liked being in Indianapolis and not really knowing any of you. Just kind of nameless, faceless suits, you know, that was a little bit better for my view. But once again, to me, these things have personality.
Tone
Yeah.
AJ Hawk
You know, when you call them, they love when you say these things. Yeah.
Pat McAfee
They understand what I'm saying. They know who they are too. They know exactly who they are. They. They know who they are and we appreciate them now, you know, a lot more than maybe we did years ago. But we are walking right into their little suit, super bowl award show. And we should dress for the occasion. Classy tuxedo T shirt for sure.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah, probably. I mean, there's no way I'm wearing a tie. I was just gonna Wear a black shirt with a coat. But here we are and I'll wear the tuxedo T shirt. I'll play the game. Look at us, huh?
Pat McAfee
We're trying. I think we're trying. I suppose we're gonna have a great time.
Ty Schmidt
I think I ain't talking to him. I know that. I know that.
Pat McAfee
You're gonna have to. Yeah, we're talking to him. Talking all of them. See man, this is maybe this is olive branch feels like it could have
AJ Hawk
con man should present an award up that's that's why you should fosso put get on it Faso foster boss.
Pat McAfee
That's these people. That's what they call you huh.
AJ Hawk
Housing is awesome by the way. He is what a character.
Pat McAfee
Thank God that the Knicks won last night after his entire cuz Bruce was actually worried. I retweeted the how I retweeted this and I was in I was in my office on a call. I retweet this. This particular post I get a text from Bruce is like hey, I think you accidentally reposted that. And I didn't know what it was like 10 minutes later, 5 minutes later I didn't know what to put. I was like oh fuck. What was what was it? It was this tweet. I was like what? I thought he was on your side. Bruce. Bruce has the house and mask. I mean Bruce. Oh yeah, yeah, Bruce and housing is really all in for right now. Knicks fans love him. From my understanding this is a good time to be the housing in New York.
Bruce Brown
Yeah, we're all housing out in New York. Shout out him I was a big
Pat McAfee
Is that a housing mask?
Ty Schmidt
I thought he's like stay looks like a three ninjas.
Bruce Brown
That's a three ninjas actually cursing cursing the Cavaliers.
Pat McAfee
So we're all in on Dan hasn We're all in and yeah.
Bruce Brown
Nixon 4.
AJ Hawk
Let's go.
Pat McAfee
Nixon 4. Maybe as in big night for him. Huge. Look at him. This guy's going to be courtside. He's going to be sitting with Timothy Shal. Good for you Hin Good for you H He's in New York for the New York Knicks on first take yesterday.
Ty Schmidt
Oh yeah.
Pat McAfee
Do you see that? That was how's in the building an hour. There's a good he's got good brain too. I I appreciate the way Howen's brain operates. I also like that Bruce is all in he wanted to kill housing yesterday whenever he was talking about the Knicks a little bit and then he learned oh wait, wait, wait.
Bruce Brown
The second I Saw him on NBA Today, I was like, holy. He better not. I'll fly there. I'll kick Dan Houson's ass and I'll.
Q Rich
I won't even go, you don't want
Pat McAfee
to do that, bro.
Ty Schmidt
Don't worry. The Miz is on it, brother.
Pat McAfee
The Miz got to be heartbroken.
AJ Hawk
Yeah. Was he tweeting her when they were up big or anything last night?
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Here is good thing. There are no curses, and tonight will prove it. Also, it's one thing to put fake curses on me, but my team. I will end you. The Miz doesn't know he actually cursed the calves. Just kind of took a little bit of time to get there. It was late in the fourth quarter housing. And then it kind of really went crazy for him. The Miz is saying that there's no curses. There's people coming out and saying there's no mind reading.
Ty Schmidt
What?
Connor
Those people are wrong.
AJ Hawk
That's the thing.
Ty Schmidt
That's bull.
AJ Hawk
Yeah.
Connor
It's big bull.
Pat McAfee
I will say Rick Boogs. I will say hilarious. Hilarious Will Compton situation.
AJ Hawk
Yes. Yes, it is.
Pat McAfee
What's that guy's name? Bryce. Him.
Ty Schmidt
Just
Pat McAfee
Bryce. That's what it is. And he looks it up and then, no, it's Breeze. You. That's not the guy. It's the other guy in the moment. Will knows, too.
Tone
Oh, yeah.
Pat McAfee
Oh, yeah. Will immediately. Because Will had a full embarrassment moment for himself whenever he couldn't remember Reece's name. So that entire moment now becoming this entire thing about this guy isn't actually picking up his soul and going inside your brain. Believe it or not. It's like, okay, all right, we got it. Well, the fucker's good.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
He. And if you get to the point that you have people breaking down what you're doing doing in super slow mo, that means your gimmick has worked.
Connor
Agreed.
Pat McAfee
So congratulations to Oz. They're coming for you, though.
Tone
They are.
Pat McAfee
They are coming for you.
Tone
Batting down the hatches.
Pat McAfee
But the gimmick. The gimmick worked. I think that is. That is the only way you could describe that is if they're coming for you like this and they're exposing it. Like the. The mass magician came out whenever there was somebody who was really hot in the streets back in the day, I forget who was. Magic was getting real hot. Real hot. Real hot. And then the mass magician came out with like, let me tell you why everything you're looking at is bullshit. And I watched it because I love magic. And it was like, wow, they're actually Just doing that this entire time. And then you have to kind of like bury that, like. Nope, nope. Don't let that kind of be the thing. So you can suspend reality whenever you go back to a magic trick here in planet Earth, you know, so. I've always done that. But, Oz, we're fucking watching you now.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
You ain't getting away with any of this shit no longer.
Ty Schmidt
And there's still things that, like, we couldn't accept point. Like there are still multiple things that. And I get that aspect of it, but there are still things that he did just even behind the scenes that we couldn't kind of even figure out what he was doing after.
Pat McAfee
My credit card number. Yeah, credit card number.
Ty Schmidt
Rogan's. How did he know? The draft order. Yeah, like he has a draft order. Yeah. Birthdays. Just names and contacts of phones. Like, there are still things that is impressive, but yeah, that gimmick. Unfortunately. Unfortunately, it does seem as though people are out on that part.
Pat McAfee
Well, congrats, Oz.
Ty Schmidt
Might be good for book sales.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Maybe he can write a Tello now.
AJ Hawk
What did we think he was doing?
Pat McAfee
You know, I told him he's great.
AJ Hawk
He's great at what he does. He's. He's awesome and he's very skilled.
Tone
He's.
Eric Johnson
But like.
Tone
Yes, Charming.
Connor
Oh, what is AJ saying? Funny, aj, You've always been a doubter.
AJ Hawk
No, a doubter of what? That he's an. Like. We call him an alien and everything, but it's called Matt Magic. It's called illusions. They're tricks. We don't know how. We don't know how they do. I think that's the problem. He calls himself a mentalist. That's what started this whole snowball going. No, There's a little buddy making a five hour video.
Pat McAfee
What was that? Mentalist on America's Got Talent. The two ladies, the lady and the guy. She was gonna. I love Matt. People probably know this about me now. I mean.
AJ Hawk
Well, you do. Amazing. I don't know how you put that. You tucked it. I don't know how you make that.
Pat McAfee
I don't have a hanger.
Connor
I thought he was a monster mind reader.
Pat McAfee
That is a shame.
Connor
That's not what you guys thought.
Pat McAfee
I thought he was a mentalist. I thought he jumped up into my brain and got me a couple different times. But I am a. I'm a big time magic fan. Like, if I'm in New York or one of these cities and there's a magic show that is good, I don't want to go to some little kid one. But if there's like a good magician, that means you're about to watch somebody execute some at a pretty high level in front of a live audience. I'll go watch it. I enjoy trying to figure it out is all anybody's doing while they're watching. Magic Traffic Secrets. Have we all caught people before in magic? Yes, But I think that's kind of a part of magic. You know, it's just like, yeah, hey, he's doing his shtick right now. He's doing his right now. Is he able to execute it? Oz was. For a long time.
Brandt Snedeker
He was.
Pat McAfee
He had NFL quarterbacks throwing the ball to different numbers for pin codes.
Ty Schmidt
It's crazy too.
Connor
Explain that, A.J.
Pat McAfee
yeah. Think about how he pieced that together. I don't know. Did you watch Penn and Teller fool us? You ever watch that?
AJ Hawk
I have seen some of that, yeah. I saw a good amount of that.
Pat McAfee
Yeah. Watching them call out other magicians for what techniques they're using that are like kind of inside behind the thing was funny. Like. And then if they actually tricked Penn and Teller was like four. So it's like, I think magicians have always been able to tell folks what other magicians are doing. Executing it, I think is the big difference. Like John Dorm Boss, the long snapper, formerly of the Eagles. Then he goes down to the Saints. They find out during a physical that his heart was basically about to. Something shut down. He gets emergency heart surgery. He comes back. He was on Ellen. He was America's Got Talent. He was. He was awesome. His story was fantastic as well. Talking to him about what other people were doing was. That was an enlightening time in my life. Cause I started this show almost began every day with me popping up out of. Popping about at nothing. You know, like that. That is almost how a couple of these shows started. Oh, we can definitely make that happen. Yeah. Let me call Baba Da Boom Da Bang in a pow. And it's like, that's kind of the. That's the Bishop.
AJ Hawk
Yeah. Now they work at it, though. They work at it. I've talked to him. A dude who practiced a trick for a year and a half before they even do it publicly.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, exactly. So we still got a mass respect. Good luck.
AJ Hawk
Exactly.
Pat McAfee
Good luck. Got through.
Ty Schmidt
Keep doing it.
Pat McAfee
O. I think he's going to go throat a little bit, though.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah. Just start running. Do the marathon thing. How does he run 100 miles in a day? Can't. Can't freaking joke your way around that.
Brandt Snedeker
Yeah.
Tone
That better not be Fugaz,
Pat McAfee
you know what they're saying about Frank Abagnale? Catch me if you can.
Ty Schmidt
What's that?
Tone
The rat.
AJ Hawk
He made it up.
Ty Schmidt
The snitch.
Tone
Because he did all that stuff and then the kind of first opportunity, he just said, okay, I'll work for the FBI.
Connor
Well, business opportunity.
Pat McAfee
I mean, he was. He was protecting businesses is what he was doing. He provided opportunities. Yeah. But what they are saying is potentially his hustle is creating and faking an entire hustle. Hustle.
Connor
That's good hustle.
Tone
Pretty good little hustle. Yeah, without a doubt.
Pat McAfee
I was flying around flight attendants forging checks and things. Really? Yeah. It's unbelievable. Make a movie.
Ty Schmidt
Yeah.
Tone
Spielberg made a movie.
Pat McAfee
10 million, 220 million. It's good hustle. If that is the case, Oz had a good hustle. Yeah.
Ty Schmidt
No, make the Oz movie.
Pat McAfee
Not a hustle.
Connor
Guy's real. Just cause some guy that won a Pulitzer says he's not.
Pat McAfee
Pulitzer's a pretty big deal. Are they giving those out at this thing that we're going to next week?
Eric Johnson
Maybe.
Tone
I don't think so.
Ty Schmidt
We better get one.
Pat McAfee
I don't think so.
Ty Schmidt
I think so.
Pat McAfee
I don't think so. All right, let's get the hell out of here. We appreciate you all so much. I think we covered everything that needed to be kind of covered in the sports world. PGA Championship. Big numbers. Sports up and to the right.
Tone
Yeah.
Pat McAfee
That's all you need to know. Sports are continuing to deliver, which is fantastic for all. We obviously everybody that knows us knows that we are sports people. We fucking love sports. But we think there's a lot of reasons to love sports. No matter what the competition is watching, people have to show up and show out for a moment that they've worked their ass off for. Completely exposed, completely vulnerable. For the audience to kind of see them go through the ups and the downs, willing to risk it all their name to go ahead and become or try to find some greatness. It's beautiful. Shout out to sports.
Tone
Shout out.
Pat McAfee
Did I win that golf thing?
AJ Hawk
What.
Pat McAfee
What is. I'm about sick of these emails from this guy. No, it's tough. You didn't win.
Ty Schmidt
He's almost there.
Pat McAfee
Hey, we got two more though. All it takes is one. Sounds like this is a bigger scam than breaking cars.
Ty Schmidt
I can't.
AJ Hawk
I can't break the top 60 in that.
Connor
I came in third.
Tone
I was going to say we got a couple guys out of 150 or whatever.
Pat McAfee
Third.
Tone
I have a top five finish as well.
Pat McAfee
Yeah.
Tone
So we. We're looking at the FedEx couple points right now and the kind of check.
Connor
There's three or four of us in the top 25 in the year standings.
Pat McAfee
Three or four of you? Who are they?
Connor
Me, Connor, Ty and Foxy.
Pat McAfee
Connor, you finishing in top 10 in this thing?
Ty Schmidt
I don't know if I have a top 10, but I'm consistently. Yeah, top 30.
Pat McAfee
Foxy. What? You're in this thing as well? Obviously. It's your kind of club leader. Yeah, I'm doing okay. So the key for people that know, don't know. You pick six golfers, you got to have five guys make the cut. And I've done that in every single tournament but one. So I'm doing okay. I'm not out of it yet. I need JJ Spawn to pick it up.
Connor
He was the one that did make.
Pat McAfee
Yeah, he killed me. Yeah, me too. So that's the bottom of the barrel here. Everybody has a price. And you're only allowed to spend a certain amount of money. 15 grand or something like that. I forget what it is. 10 grand.
Connor
What is 50?
Pat McAfee
50. Okay. Everybody has a price. And then you got to pick like three golfers that don't have a high price value on them. Them. Right. It's like, how the do I know?
Ty Schmidt
Like Scotty Roy 11 in 10.9. And then like Ron, take Scotty.
Pat McAfee
What's that?
Connor
You did better than Nick.
Pat McAfee
Love that. Yeah, I had Blocky on my team.
Ty Schmidt
What? Love the game.
Pat McAfee
Be a friend. Tell friend something nice. Might change your life. We're in this thing together. Appreciate you all so much. We're back tomorrow. Western Conference finals tonight. Let's pick these games. Actually 8 of cold hockey starts. Golden Knights. Avalanche. Who do you like? How do you like it?
AJ Hawk
Give me the biggest Golden Knights. I feel like on this one.
Pat McAfee
Okay. I'll take the Avalanche at home without my car. See how it goes. Go ahead, Tone.
Connor
That line went from -192 the Lance. It's all the way down to 175 currently. Just moved again now that Makar is out.
Pat McAfee
Okay, so the favoritism is bouncing a little bit. They are at home. It should be a buzz saw. Who's on the Avalancher? We'll see pregame. Okay. I like the Avalanche. Let's go to the 8:30 NBA tip of the Western Conference. WY takes on Oklahoma City, favored by six and a half. Has that changed?
Connor
Yes, it was seven and a half now.
Pat McAfee
Seven and a half now. AJ who do you like? How do you like it?
AJ Hawk
You know what? I got to Take the thunder here. I'm taking Thunder to win and cover. I feel like they rebound.
Pat McAfee
Give me the spurs, baby. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice in my Channel your life. We're in this thing together. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three. Team goodbye.
