the pride, passion and pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul Feinbaum show, our for podcast.
Caller Joe
This might be college football.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
And welcome back as we head to the final hour on a Thursday. And let's go to Johnny B. Up next. Good afternoon.
Caller Johnny B
Hey Paul, thanks for taking my call. You know, I'm still one of these old school guys that when the bills come in, some of them just come right out of my checking account and some I still write out, put it in the snail mail. Some of these callers probably have no idea what I'm talking about. But you could write a check, put it in the mail and pay a bill. And I happen to think today, the next time I do these, it'll be football season. As bad as bill paying is, that gave me a, you know, a good bright spot of my day and you know, it seems like it's been forever, but now it's right upon us and I'm so glad. I am so glad. And actually, you know, we got tonight, Carson Beck will be playing in that hall of Fame game tonight. So that'll be interesting to finally turn on the tube.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
And that will be nice to see a real, I wouldn't call it a real football game, but, but football, yeah,
Caller Johnny B
it, you know, it could be cartoon football, I don't care. It'd be great. But you know, over the years I've given old Chris from South Carolina quite a few names. Some of them I can't say on here. But you know, I called him Pudding a whole lot. But I've come up with a new name for him since yesterday and it's a slight cyclospora. Cyclospora. Is that what it is?
Caller AJ
The new.
Caller Mike
I've seen that diarrhea.
Caller Johnny B
Yeah, cyclosporasis, the new explosive diarrhea. That's gonna be Putin's new name for that long. I'm sorry we hadn't heard from today. You know, usually, well, you, Johnny, you buried him yesterday.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
He did so much poppycocking on, on, on X last night. He's probably out of breath.
Caller Johnny B
I don't hardly ever do. Most of them got me blocked anyway. That's probably a good thing.
Caller Lanier
But.
Caller Johnny B
Yeah, I don't know, it's, it's funny, but it's kind of like Iron man used to say, you know, in the south when somebody passes, you know, he's always, he's always saying he's gonna bring the tater salad. And you know, when something like that happens and you fe family real good and you know, a day or two after I get to looking at my brother in law and I'm thinking, you know, we ate good when daddy passed away and I don't really like you too much. You got to do what you got to do to get fed around here. But anyway, there's been some good stuff. And then I man mentioned Daryl, you know, and I, when we, when I was part of the after hours show, Daryl would come on and play some music. Now he was, he's very talented, but he plays so fast. And I was thinking, you know, our man said he's going to do 10 songs. Well, hell, they'd be over and said and a half minutes, you know, he plays fast. We try to sing along and there's no way you can sing along when Daryl's playing. But the dude is talented and he, you know it. I agree with you. There was a time he was a heck of a good caller and everything and I still enjoy him from time to time. I don't know what happened to get him some mad at the world. But anyway, it was good to hear from Robert from Iowa today. That was a flashback to the old Tammy and everybody days and that was cool too. But he was talking about one other thing that I just wanted to mention before I get off here is the governor of Louisiana getting all them deals and getting all them money. And then I was just thinking, you know, here in, in Alabama we got K Ivy and I'm surprised that she don't bring Bush hog in as one of our sponsors because she should have a lot of knowledge in that area. And I appreciate you taking my call. And y' all have a good evening.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you, Johnny. Appreciate the call. Let me check in with Mike in at Atlanta.
Caller Mike
Hello, Mr. Paul Feinbaum. What an honor to talk to you again, sir.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you very much.
Caller Mike
I haven't talked to you in a long time. I'm 80 years old now. I graduated from Crimson Tide University in 71 after I came back from the Navy in Vietnam. And I used to read your column. I live in Atlanta most of my life since I, after I graduated My parents told you in the past used to send me your Post Herald column. And you made me laugh so many times talking about jerk.
Caller Albert
The perk.
Caller Mike
Chicken Curry. Mike Dumbos does that. That rings some bells, right? And all those losers that they hired at the university after Coach Bryant passed away. And we got a new loser in that category. He's called Caleb debordum. Okay. And I appreciate you giving me some time because I got some important. I don't hardly ever call you that often, but I'm thrilled to be able to talk to you. And I got a couple of things I'd like to say, so I appreciate a little time. First of all, I'm going way out on the limb. I'm going to predict that Alabama this year will either be 6 and 6 or 7 and 5. And here's my predictions for what they're worth. I say Alabama is going to lose to either Florida State or Kentucky, one of those in the first three games. I say these are definite losses for Alabama, Georgia and Tuscaloosa. Texas A and M and Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa. Lsu, a night game in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Red Stick. They're going to lose to Tennessee and Knoxville. And one of these four teams will beat them. Either Vandy, South Carolina, Mississippi State or Auburn. That's 6 and 6. If they beat, they might go 75. The only bowl that they're ever going to go to under Calum debordam is the Toilet bowl playing University of Santa Flush. Okay? That's the only way they're going to go. And let me tell you, when they finally, the board of trustees down there finally wakes up and smells the coffee, when they fire Caleb the Boar, they're also going to fire the athletic director, better known as an athlete's foot at Alabama. Now, Greg Byrne, who created this monstrosity and gave him all this money and all his assistance here, deadbeats, extra huge pay raises, too. Now, that's the way it's going to turn out. Let me tell you, there's precedent for that because, you know, when Chicken Curry was coaching at Alabama, Steve Sloan was the athletic director. And Steve Sloan was fired. And Chicken Curry quit because he knew that he was going. The guillotine was going to follow him next. So there's precedent. They'll fire the athletic director who created this monstrosity and also Caleb Debortham, and it's going to bankrupt the University of Alabama's athletic department funds. But this is what you get when you got idiots in charge of that leg department. Now I want to go to part D if you part B. If you'll give me time, sir.
Caller Lanier
Okay.
Caller Mike
All right. You know that I'm a huge coach Bear Bryant fan from way back because I remember when Coach Bryant when I was a young 12 years old came university after 3 years of ears Whitworth when they were 4, 24 and 4 and he took Alabama program to great new heights. Okay, most people may not know this, but I want to emphasize this to people because of the crooked and prejudice Associated Press over the years against southern teams and Alabama and also the UPI poll which no longer exists. United Press International which was the old coaches poll in approximately 1990 poll. Check this out. Multiple sources. The NCAA, which I don't think a lot of, but the NCAA record books have granted Alabama.
Caller Lanier
This is.
Caller Mike
They've granted them in their official record books. They granted the 1966 undefeated Alabama team 11 and O is recorded as national champions. They recorded the 1975 team which is 11 and one national champions in their official record books. They also granted the 1977 team 111 national championships. They granted Coach Bryant's 1950 Kentucky team 101 his national champs because they beat Oklahoma in the Sugar bowl under the great Bud Wilkinson and upset them 13 7. Kentucky has class they may not win, but they fly that national championship flag at their stadium, Commonwealth Stadium as 1950 National Champions recognized by the NCAA. These titles were given after Coach Bryant died. They were based on not any computers or nothing. They were based on one lost records and the strength of the other teams that played. And twice in 75 and 77, Alabama had the same record as the team they gave the national championship to. They studied the schedules and they said they should have been Co Nassau champions. But since Alabama played much tougher schedules, they granted it to Alabama. That's what the NCAA record book state. Now Coach Bryant legitimately in the Coach Bryant Bear Bryant Museum University of Alabama. They recognized the 1966, 75 and 77 teams in that museum as national champions, giving coach Brian nine at Alabama and one at Kentucky in the NCAA official record books. Paul now to the shame of the athletic feat at the University of Alabama, my alma mater and to the athletic directors which have been a bunch of bozos ever since Coach Bryant died except for one Bill Battle. Okay. They refused to recognize these teams. Also Paul going way back in history. And my dad taught me the greatness of Alabama football when I was a wee tot. Wallace Wade and all the Rose bowls in the 20s. And after that the coach, great coach Frank Thomas who Bear Bryant played for and they won the Rose bowl and defeated Stanford, who was undefeated in 1935 with a great Don Hudson at end and Dixie Owl at quarterback. That team won 11, 10, 0. They beat USC in the Rose bowl on New Year's Day 46 the year I was born.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Yeah, Mike, listen, I hate to run. We have to go to a break. I do apologize, but thank you for the call. Fantastic memory. There we are, back after this.

Hey, regulator in the house. And I was. You can see this ain't the penthouse. You know, we're. We're not. We're not up to that level yet. So, hey, this is my kitchen. But you know what? And we're not going to say we're better than everybody else, because that would just be stupid. But, Paul, hey, this guy that called in earlier today, he said he was Alabama fan and said we were going to win the national championship. You know, Paul, I've said comments like that before in the past, but we either had Nick Saban or I was drunk at the time. He's talking out of beer goggles. That guy's talking out of beer goggles. Because you know what? Sure, it could happen. So could lsu. So good old man, so could a lot of tape, but I wouldn't put my money on it. And, you know, that's just me. But that, that's. That's got to be either medication or I'm gonna say alcohol induced. I'm not gonna say everybody's out here taking drugs, but I'm going to say that beer goggles for sure, 100%. But, you know, Paul, there is a game on tonight, but, you know, it's a pro game and I'll be honest, I've never cared for pro football. I just, you know, there was a time I did back in the day, you know, when I was younger, I used to love watching the Dallas Cowboys. And I had a first cousin that loved the Pittsburgh State. Now he loved Oakland Raiders. And we would, we would get into it with each other. He was better, you know, Terry Bradshaw or Roger Stallbach, you know, and it was just. I love those days, but it just is not the same anymore. But college football, I love it. But hey, let's just keep it on the swivel, you know, let's call it what it is. You know, I'm just glad the competition is going and everybody's happy right now because, you know, the start of the season, everybody's undefeated, you know, so it's a clean slate for everybody. So I'm just ready to get it started. It could go, you know, north or south, you know, real quick for a lot of teams. I just know this right here, you got to have a good quarterback because these teams that win championship, they got a good quarterback. And today, the way the. It's gotten that we're faster, bigger, you better have two good quarterbacks because you never know what's around the corner.
Caller Mike
But.
Caller Joe
Hey, Paul. Good to see you, brother. Hey, I'm sorry I got in late. I've been listening to show all day. I've just been, you know, doing laundry and stuff like that around, you know, playing up around the house, listening to the show. But anyway, Paul, love you, brother. Peace roll Ty Road Regulators out. Brother, keep the faith. Keep, keep the faith, brother. Road tie.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you very much, Joe. Appreciate it. Lanier in Charlotte. Up next.
Caller Lanier
Hey, Paul, thanks for taking my call.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you.
Caller Lanier
I've been an Alabama fan for a long time, probably 60 years. My two kids graduated from there, My dad graduated from there. And I was listening to Augie. Is that his name? Lsu big fan, correct? Yeah, a couple of days ago, I think it was. And he said that LS he and the LSU fans, they don't have any fear of Alabama anymore. And I just kind of thought, well, I looked up the records. Let's see, they're 0 and 3 the last three years against Alabama. They're 2 and 8 the last 10 years against Alabama. So, you know, might be a little reason for some fear there. That's all I have to say. Real time.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you, Lanier. Appreciate your call. And let me check in next with Albert, who is in Florida. Hello, Albert.
Caller Steve
Albert, how you doing?
Caller Albert
Today is the 15th anniversary of SEAL Team 6. I'm going to read recently a poem they read on the floor of the house on the one year anniversary. It's called We Stood. We stood so you can sleep While across the nation our mothers weep we fought so you can live While in such blessed peace our selfless sacrifice gives but all in such pain and heartache our families live Be stood so you could sleep upon that bed of freedom so sweet as to all of you Our promises did keep for all our bodies now sleep so sleep in such cold dark graves so very deep we gave our most precious lives While all our brothers in arms did weep and not ask why as we raised our hands up high and swore to pledge our most precious lives to make a stand, to make a difference with it all as we gave that last full measure While standing tall we died and so bled to keep Our most solemn vows of honor Said why all across our nation Our families now weep for but the greater good we gave all we could as we stood as we pray to our Lord Their fine precious souls to keep for they stood for what was right so very deep with all their brilliant souls burning bright they died for that old red, white and blue and for all their brothers in arms A love so true into the face of evil Marching off casting their heroic light to go forth all in their most brilliant force to the fight for they much rather have died for something than live for nothing. For all, for strength and honor was but their sacred battle cry, their call. Because moments are all we have to make a difference, to hear the call to change the world, to go off boldly with flags unfurled.
Caller James
Troops, mount up.
Caller Albert
Heaven calls.
Caller Mike
Move on, move out.
Caller Albert
As 30 more angels in the arm of our Lord have been called to fight that battle. We shall not pause to watch over us one and all. And when there comes a gentle rain or tears will wash down upon us to remain so we won't have to cry no more to ease our pain. And forever in our hearts your most sacred names will carry all because you died so we can sleep upon that better freedom with blessed gifts of peace. And now we lay your fine bodies down, the rest at ease to sleep all because you stood so very deep. Amen.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you very much, Albert. Appreciate that. Let me check in next with Connor in Tennessee. Hello, Connor.
Caller Connor
Hey, Paul, how are you doing? Personally, I think Jeff Levy needs seven wins to stay in Starfield this year. What do you think the win and loss per Mississippi State is this year? And what are your thoughts on Camario Taylor? I think he could be the best quarterback in the SEC this year. Want to know your thoughts on that? And one more thing. What is the over and under on Mustard Bottlestone at Lane Kiffin when he goes back to Oxford? Thanks for taking my call.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Yeah, Connor, I think Camara is really getting a lot of excitement. I want to see him play before I'm going to go all in. But I don't. I don't think Jeff Levy has a number that attached to his name. Thanks for the call. Check in with James up next. Good afternoon, James.
Caller James
Paul absent from the body, present with the Lord. We're hearkening back to the poem. Paul, how you making it today?
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
I am doing great, thank you.
Caller James
Fabulous. I'm just going to shoot this out to your boy Bash. I'm assuming he's going to still be in Prideful, Alabama by Saturday evening. I understand Prattville, downtown Delhi is going to be hosting the author James Ray Brown. It's from 6 to 8 this Saturday evening and so I'm encouraging Bash and others to come out and check him out. You too, Paul. It might as well be the three of us. Me, you and Bash. I mean, do you think Prideful is ready for that?
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Yeah, you know, I may not be far from that on Saturday, so I'll see if I can drop by. Thanks, James. For the call. We are taking a break here. 30 minutes remaining of more of your phone calls.

Podcast and we are back here. Let's check in with AJ up next.
Caller AJ
All fine, Mom. Thanks for taking my call sir.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you.
Caller AJ
You know I got to do like a four or five team parlay right here because I plan to make some money but I'm not going to Read you a biography on a bunch of anything else, but, you know, you know, starting with the Regulators. Paul, there's a reason Joe heads the Regulators, because if they were a song as a group, they would have to be Led Zeppelin. And the only song they could ever write was Ramble on, because that describes every one of them. They just call in here and ramble on, ramble On. But then you got a drop down. Paul, do you plan on living to be 185? Because I probably ain't going to.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
No. I don't think I'll make it.
Caller AJ
Okay, well then why. How many years you think after a qualified ad are you going we're gonna be listening to they never let Nick Saban die either. Because the thing about it is, I mean, they're still talking about Bear Bright down there at Cryon Denny Stadiumville, and it's just ridiculous. Let Bear Bright go. Let everything go. You're not.
Caller Dylan
I'm on.
Caller AJ
My great grandchildren still gonna be hearing about Nick Saban. Because Alabama, they have a little spurt and then they live in the past. And I just love it. It's just so funny. But let me bounce on around here because I didn't know if I told you this, that, you know, Atkins Candy Company, Paul, they made up. They made a worse seller that almost put them out of business. And it was called the Atkins Coconut Long Boy. And, you know, I couldn't help but think about one of your South Carolina collars, Paul, and it had to be long because, you know, if they described it, you know, they were long. They were individually wrapped chewy caramel candies, Paul. They was infused with the same thing that Shane Beamer and South Carolina football team is infused with, and it's called Coconut Flakes. And that's exactly what happened. It tanked their system. And that's why Long's calls is about. All he is is a long coconut flake. And he's a pathetic caller. And I just. I just don't understand it. But, you know, there was another thing I thought about, Paul, and it was, what's that new disease is coming out from lettuce something sporia.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
I think it's Psychosporas.
Caller AJ
Yeah, psycho. That's psycho. Hey, that fits Chris from South Carolina. We're going to change his new name to Lettuce Head the Iceberg man. Because every time he calls in here, he spews out the. What they call is the drawbacks from eating that lettuce. And it's, you know, Clemson explosive diarrhea talk. Because that's about all he does when he calls in here. And one more thing, Paul, before I go. Black Hatters, y' all are going down War.
Caller Johnny B
Damn Eagle
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Steve is up next in Minnesota. Hello, Steve.
Caller James
Hey, Paul.
Caller Steve
I'm not sure if it's, you know, realistic to be both a fan of AJ and Long, but those, yeah, they bring some good entertainment to your show for sure.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you.
Caller Steve
Hey, I, I don't know if it's, if it's, it's probably long past nominating someone for caller of the decade or whatever, hall of Fame or hall of Shame or whatever, but I gotta tell you, this won't be popular but I think JK the dudes a truth teller. He knows ball and he's one of the few people on this show that ever calls out Greg Sanctimonious Sankey. So for that reason, if nothing else, I want to give him a high five. Beyond that, I got a sleeper team to make the playoffs. Not the name, it's a helmet school. But I, I got a sneaking suspicion that usc, despite their, I think they got a pretty tough schedule and I'm no USC fan, but I got a sneaking suspicion despite your questioning of their head coach that if their D is even, you know, B, B minus, I think they got a chance to go 10 and 2. Whether that'll get them in the playoffs, I don't know. And with 12 teams, you know, it's still tough to get in. One last thing, if I were to do a Mount Rushmore of Georgia fans like Georgia shills. I mean I would take Teddy Roosevelt off just because we only need three heads. No disrespect to the former President but we're going to go with delusional Daryl. Of course, thin skinned Brad like a dude with the chip on his shoulder that Long has just single handedly put in a box and just discredited. And then you're good, buddy. You can't forget this guy. I think he was almost pimping for the Texas job. The way he was talking the other day.
Caller Mike
When it comes to you know, being
Caller Steve
like longhorn.com guy, the way he was loving up Will must champ. I'm referring to Mike the mercenary Griffith. Paul, have a good evening.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Thank you very much. Dylan is up next.
Caller Dylan
Yeah, what's going on my black cat brother? How you doing?
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
We are doing great. Thank you, man.
Caller Dylan
You know I, I was, you know, I saw some stats today. Well, not really stats as projections. You know, you got this one guy from South Carolina likes to call in and prop up his Little Clemson team and everything. Why in the world is he propping up Clemson when they're projected to finish fourth in the acc? I, I don't, I don't, I don't get that, man. I mean, the ACC is, I mean, they're weak as hell and they got, they have Louisville, Louisville ahead of them. I mean, when you got Louisville ahead of you, I mean, I don't, I don't think you can really poke your chest out too much and come on here and make a fool out of yourself. I think you need to lay off the weed dude. I mean, that's just plain and simple.
Caller AJ
But, you know, he challenged.
Caller Dylan
He called me out yesterday and I'm going, I'm going to give him a little message. I ain't doing a phone review with him. He's going to get on here like a bull in a china shop. No one can talk, no one can do any, that gun thing. And he's going to blabble on, ramble on and, and all that. So what he needs to do is just get ready for his little, his little, his little church thing tomorrow night. I do want to ask him this, though. What, what kind of snakes are they handling tomorrow night? Water moccasins or copperheads?
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
They just copper.
Caller James
I mean.
Caller Dylan
Well, the only, the only thing that has probably already happened is of one of them bit him on his fat ass. That's probably the only thing that's happened. But anyway, Paul, have a good with the dirtiest player in the games out of here.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
Appreciate it. Thank you very much. Dylan, let me check in with Ken. Excuse me, Mad Dog who is in Chattanooga. Hey, Mad Dog.
Caller Mad Dog
Hey, long time no see, Paul. Hope you're doing well. How can you talk. Those last three calls, those were good. We'll talk about the rise of Alabama or the, or the decline of Alabama and the rise of Tennessee.
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
So you think it's Tennessee?
Caller Mad Dog
No, I just think that Alabama. I think your caller was that Mike talked about Alabama earlier.
Caller Johnny B
They're going to have.
Caller Mad Dog
And I'm a Tennessee fan, you know that. And you're a Tennessee graduate. I'm just saying it's not the usual Alabama we're used to. We don't have the control free quarterback that we're used to. That and the huge running backs in the big defense. I mean, a lot of players leaving Alabama. From what I can hear or what I've been told,
Paul Feinbaum (Host)
my dog. I think that's. We're about to get that cleared up. Hey, thanks for the call. We're up against the break a few minutes remaining here on a Thursday afternoon. Plenty of time for you to get in.
