No, but he can't coach. I don't get it. You know, you look at the changes that he made to Alabama through his tenure, you know, he. He was never satisfied. Well, and you know, he had. He had to replace assistants and it just. So much of what he did, you know, the adding, adding the analysts, the number of analysts that he used, that wasn't done before that, you know, recycling and rehabilitating these other coaches, you know, that wasn't done before. Next time. But you know, he can't coach.

Not according to that guy.

Yep, not according to that guy. A couple of dates I want to make note of, Paul. They almost got by me. But one is your good friend John Torny. I think he passed on the 31st of last month in 1997.

I think I'm right about that. But just a special, special Alabama man, John Thorny. John Fournier. He lived the entire life never saying anything negative about the University of Alabama. He was true blue, by the way,

He broke into the last segment of his radio show one day. It's about two months before he passed. And he says, somebody call.

Now we're talking. I can't. I nearly lost my job once over telling a joke. I wish I wouldn't. I'm not even gonna go. But it. It involved Versace's killing. He was killed by his lover. And I was at an event one night and. Yeah, Andrew Cunanan and the host of the. It was like a bunch of people telling jokes and football stories. It was a Mobile. And the guy came up to me. I was the last speaker. The next. He said, you got to save this event. So I said, anything goes. He said, I don't care. I want people to laugh. So I told this joke that I had heard, and it was the Archbishop of Mobile took personal offense to it and wrote a letter in the. In the local. He was the head of the diocese.

Oh, boy.

And he wrote a letter. And I'm like going. Went down there to raise money for him and for his organization, and I ended up getting chastised for telling a joke that I really did not want to tell. I'll tell you off the air one day. I promise you, you'll laugh. But. But I would. I can't. I can't tell it anymore.

Well, Paul, one last passing that I know you remember Burt Convey.

I do remember Bird.

Old Bird. He had an Afro didn't he? It looked like he had an Afro. But Paul, I knew the show was. Had a snappy flow to it, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but that's today. Now I know why that insufferable chef lady is back. And, oh, my God, could you imagine being her husband? But anyway, you correctly pointed out to her that it's Ole Miss fans who can't get over Lane leaving, not Lane. I mean, Lane broke their heart. So every time they complain about him, they just enforce the fact they haven't gotten over him. But she did say something funny. She said she wanted a college girls fantasy weekend. She did say that, right?

Yes.

Remember John from Louisville had one of those. Remember he went on a trip with his daughter and her friends? Did they go to Italy or something? He had himself a fantasy college girl weekend. And Jaden Daniels, the season desist. Now, Paul, Jaden Daniels, without a doubt. I'm not so sure he's not the best LSU quarterback ever. He did all of that with half an offense because, remember, his offensive line was terrible. That's why he had to run for his life. He had no defense. I think he's the most electric player LSU ever had, and they should retire his jersey. But other people that need a cease and desist. Paul Bash needs one from a camera and zoom. Cease and desist Chris from speaking. That's Chris from South Carolina. And John from St. Louis. He needs assist and desist from his meandering, aimless. And one last question. Paul, that guy yesterday who called and said he had to see a neurologist, he seemed to come to that realization because he couldn't remember things as he

What I wanted to say was about Jayden Daniels. Not in particular, but big picture. I am a recently retired college professor who was in the classroom for almost 30 years. And whether it's athletes or non athletes, college has become a consumer economy. It's not that I want to get a degree, it's that somebody told me I need to get a degree or I do want to get a degree.

I really don't want to put the work in for it. And that's kind of understandable, especially giving all. Given all the online options. And I stayed home for a year and a half during COVID and I hated doing online learning. I was never so glad to get back in a classroom. But it's the general situation. It's not Jaden in particular. Now, he may be an extreme example, but it's that culture. It's the consumer culture. Me, me, me, me, me.

Darrell, thank you yesterday for what you came back and said on the show about teaching a guy from North Carolina that's pretty ignorant, that has. There's no culture to him. No one on the show needs to tell who can call, who can't call. Especially somebody like Johnny Pervert who's been banned at one time from calling the show himself. We callers will go on social media and throw the whole show under the bus from the back room to you personally to other callers and like a sheep that's lost from the herd trying to make it back, surrounded by wolves and the woods are out there. So that's a low character, under the radar apology. And if you're going to go on social media and do that, your apology should match the effort that you put out on social media either on social media, on the show itself. That is the definition of a weak caller. And furthermore, because I'm not, I'm not through with you. Furthermore, we heard your call yesterday and you were talking about two callers in particular, me and Squirrel. Well, here's the common denominator on me and Squirrel. We've had the honor and privilege of being chosen to be on the Paul Fine bomb show, Squirrel twice, I believe. Johnny Pervert, you will never get that honor. Ever get that honor. And I don't care if you drive two hours. I don't care if you drive 10 hours. You're gonna be behind a barricade waving like you did the last time like an idiot. And Paul, one question. The guy I met from Louisiana that does the security, his name is Jeff, isn't he?

You are so wishy washy about everything you say about sports. And like Squirrel said, you could have played college ball. You just didn't have what it took. I think it's the half percenter, frankly.

I would believe so. I mean, like, you ever seen somebody like quit the show and then start his own controversy that he didn't quit the show?

[Paul Finebaum]

I mean, but, you know, I thought he had a lot of credibility when he, when he, he confirmed the former caller known as Jim from Tuscaloosa and said, you were right, Paul Feinbaum is a bald face liar. We should have listened to Jim the first time. Or am I going. Where does that fit into. Into the degrees of separation?

[Caller - Chris]

I mean, like I said, I've said it before. This show, if Jim is your backup, I'm sorry, brother, you're in trouble. I mean, I feel bad for you for a lot of reasons, but that be at the top of the list. Well, I got to go to the practice today.

[Paul Finebaum]

Okay.

What now? What are you allowed to tell us?

Oh, I. Apparently I can tell you everything I want to. I paid to go, so. Okay, go for it. You know, we were in the same window as the media, so you really only got to see drills and things like that. You didn't see them running plays and everything. But the. You know, there's two things I took away from it. One is these guys are really big and they're really fast. But I'd probably get that if I went to any SEC school. I would assume you would.

But the thing.

[Caller - Chris]

The thing I took away that I saw Parsons practices. I've seen Freezes practices, the intensity, all. Like I said, all we saw were drills. And it was interesting to see for sure and to be there. It's great to see the players up close, but just the intensity, the way they interacted with each other, the way the coaches were interacting with them.

[Paul Finebaum]

Now, Chris, a clear question. Unlike. Unlike Hugh Freeze, though, was there the chipping and putting green where he could work on his short game while the drills were going on?

[Caller - Chris]

No chipping and cutting green. And there was no church music playing either. The music was a little more intense.

[Paul Finebaum]

Reverend Freeze has left the building.

[Caller - Chris]

Just the intensity of it was impressive to me. Now, what that means going down the road, I don't know. But I'm just saying, a lot of times when you see a practice, you've seen plenty yourself. It looks like people are just at practice, right? This looks like something a little bit different. Just with the intensity level and the. I guess the camaraderie between the players, between. Like I said, they're just doing drills and they're dapping each other up and high five and jumping all over the place. It was just. It was nice to see people that look like they wanted to be there and not just be at practice.

I've broken up with my girlfriend. Last year, I told my girlfriend, if, you know, if we ever break up, it's. It's Chef Elizabeth. And, you know, we laughed about that a lot. She's Ole Miss family. She. We ended it after five years. So I can call now and I'm glad she came back home and. And I might meet her one day at Ole Miss game. But secondly, is that a long time ago. Legend absolutely infuriated me. And, you know, I. I love the show. I love Legend. You know, I love to hear him. But he started in on Pete golden five, four, five years ago. And, you know, he had basically ran Pete Golding out of town. I know you remember this. And he was going. He had Pete, Goat Pete, Goblin upstairs. And I was. I wanted to call back then, but it's so hard to get in. I never tried, you know. But anyway, it's about my third time to call, but that man. When Pete golden got fired and came or came over to Ole Miss, I'm sorry. When he came to Ole Miss, I was happy. He's a Delta State guy and everything right up the road and down to earth, you know, and I, I was crazy about Lane too. But I was glad Pete golden got that job. And I thought about Legend. Well, number one, I don't know what Brian Kelly said to this picket player or not, but it really doesn't matter. Lsu, I think, has only retired one jersey in the history of the school and it wasn't Joe Burrow. And I just cannot believe that somebody advised Jayden Daniels to even go down this road. It's not that important. He's got no right, he's got no privilege. Tim Tebow's jersey was never retired at Florida and he's one of the most iconic players in history. Other players, you can, you can come up with a player for every school. And I think Jaden Daniels has thrown away a lot of goodwill and he's not getting it back.

If jersey is not retired, it seems weird that we would let somebody that's finished. You dictate what numbers are handed out.
