This is the players box. Okay, three, two, one, go.
C
Okay.
D
Hi, everyone.
C
We are back with another episode of the players box. I'm Desiree Krafczyk alongside Jenny Brady, Madison Keys and Jess Pagola. We are coming to you from all over the place. Adelaide, Brisbane and Orlando. But we are making it happen. A friendly reminder to give our podcast five stars and to subscribe on YouTube. On today's episode, we'll get into some tennis headlines, update you from our experiences in Australia and see who would survive in the outback. But first, let's get into our unforced error or winner of the week and see who or I guess in the way this week treat us kindly or not on or off the court. Jenny, start us off.
E
Well, I have a winner of the week for you guys, mainly because I will not be obsessed with the chat because I now have a phone stand that Maddie gave me for my phone because all of you look at your phones during the pod for our notes and stuff and usually I read the chat. So hopefully I'll be more focused now since I have my phone stand. Thank you, Maddie. Maddie.
B
I have. I kind of already told you guys about it, but my unforced error of the week when I was playing Diana, it was in the, I think it was in the third set tiebreaker and I was, like, running for my life early in the tiebreaker and couldn't get to the ball. Was running, like directly into a wall and had to slow down. But, like, on my last step, I, like, slammed my foot in my shoe and I broke my toenail and it hurt so badly. It, like, startled me and I, like, forgot that I had to slow down. So I was like, still running directly into a wall and so I, like, dropped to the ground and it was really dramatic.
D
And I.
B
Look, I felt so dumb because I was like, that was the most ungraceful thing I think I've ever done in my entire life. But also, like, that hurt so badly. So, yeah, that was.
D
I was watching that in the gym. I was like, what was that? Yeah, that was Tough.
B
That was very tough. But we survive and we move on from very sad, pathetic, dramatic falls to the ground. Jess.
D
Well, yesterday in my match, I walked out, and we have, like, those big, refillable water bottles. The one I had all of, like, my electrolytes in obviously wasn't. The cap wasn't screwed on. And so in, like, my carry on bag, it just was everywhere. And I get down and it's, like, wet. So obviously, like, the bottom of my bag was soaked when I walked out, which was kind of embarrassing. I was probably dripping as I walked out. And I had wristbands that I literally, like, rung out in the back because they were soaking wet, full of electrolytes. And then I had, like, everything in my bag was completely covered and soaked, and then I got killed. So that was, like. That was like an omen to the start of how my match was gonna go. And then I was, like, almost late for the coin toss because I was like, oh, my God, there's water everywhere. And I was like. And then the camera guy was, like, right in my face, and I was like, dude, just like, can you just back up? Like, I just spilled my stuff everywhere, all in my bag. It was very annoying. But, yeah, Des.
C
Well, I. When I arrived to Australia, I remembered to pack everything just in case I lost my bags or they were delayed, and they were delayed about three days. And I was, like, waiting and waiting and waiting. But as I've learned from the past, from you guys, you guys told me to bring my rackets, bring my shoes, so I brought all that. So I was fine for practice, but I had to wait three days for my bags. And my heroes, Maddie and Jess, came in clutch because my bags ended up on their flight. And I didn't have to go back to the airport to collect my bags, so they were hand delivered to me. And it was, what a great start to 2026. So that was my unforced error of not having my bags for three days.
D
But, yeah, you weren't the only one.
C
Well, that's true. I was not the only one. Yes, there were a ton of us, actually. It was. I think it was united itself.
E
You hand delivered someone else their bags.
C
I did, yeah. I. Well, so I was. As I was waiting to claim my bags, and I, like, saw this bag on the carousel, and I was like, it says big foe. And I was like, there's probably only one person that has this bag. And I'm like, that can't be right. So I actually. I looked at it, and I texted you Guys. And I was like, okay, I'm gonna call him. So I called him and I was like, he answered. And he's like, hello? And I was like, hi. And he's like, yeah, what's going on? I was like, is this your bag circling like around the carousel? And he's like, oh my God. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can you grab it? Like, I actually got like two more there. And I was like, okay, well, I only see two. And I guess I'll bring yours because mine didn't get here because I guess there was like a weight restriction. But I was Francis's hero. You're welcome.
D
So yeah, good karma. Because then Maddie and I spotted your bags.
C
Exactly.
D
Right away. Look at that.
B
Yeah.
E
And. And I was actually joking, saying, oh yeah, Maddie can bring your bag. And.
C
And it actually happened.
B
I know. Jenny. Jenny kind of jinxed you. She kept making the joke being like, haha, Maddie and Jess can bring it. And then it was like, yeah, later. And it was like, oh, your bags actually didn't make the flight, so we will bring them for you.
D
Yeah.
C
And I. And I was tracking it and it said it was like in the Pacific Ocean, like in route. And I was like, oh, no, like, please, hopefully it gets here by 2026. So anyways, that was my.
D
But I think Maddie and I just got lucky because I think some flights after us, people also lost their bags.
E
Yeah.
D
So we were.
C
And I wonder if actually a few people. Yeah, but it's happened multiple times, even into people flying from or flying to Hobart or some people not having their bags for four days. But anyways. All right, who won? Unforced error or winner of the week? Don't feel like there's a winner this week.
B
I feel like we all win because Jenny has a phone stand now.
C
Yeah.
E
Even though I'm still trying to figure it out, I keep like glancing over, just.
C
Just giving the side eye, like the dog thing.
E
I'm still looking over, so I don't really know. Maybe you guys can show me your setup next time.
C
I feel like Maddie and Jess, like that those are some bad unforced errors.
D
You didn't have your bags for three days though.
C
Yeah, but I get to go shopping.
B
Like.
C
Like United already sent me my $1300. I spent. I was winning. This is great.
E
Wow.
D
She got some free those. Oh, that's actually very quick.
B
Okay. That's kind of. That's kind of a winner.
D
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it does one Maddie and I lost. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
I feel like I lost because I also lost half of My toenail, but it's fine.
D
Has your toenail recovered?
B
Yeah, no, I lost half of it. It's gone. Wow.
C
How do you, like.
D
Did you have to tape it?
B
Yeah, I had to tape it for the next match. It's like, it's fine. It doesn't hurt as much anymore, but it's. It's one of the cons of the job.
E
Yeah. No open toed shoes.
D
No open toed shoes.
C
For Maddie running into a wall, she's just so fast now that she just doesn't know her limits.
D
She's a track star now.
E
Yeah.
C
She's like, I'm gonna keep going.
B
When I was practicing with Jess last week in Brisbane, I fell like four times.
D
She literally did. I was like, what are you doing? Why are you on the floor? I was like, I'm just fe. Fighting. I was like, you're just so fast now. Like multiple times the courts are. The cords are a little slippery and she literally, like, her feet just went one way and I just see her, like, out of the corner of my eye. Like, her body go that way. Like, oh, my God. Did you. She's like, on the ground. Are you okay?
E
Okay.
D
I was like, what is going on?
E
Okay, let's get into some tennis updates. So, Brisbane recap. What did it feel like for everyone to be back on court competing again after a little bit of a long stint time away?
C
Not long enough.
E
What, like three weeks.
B
That whole four weeks just felt so quick.
C
Yeah, it was nice to be back. I mean, obviously, it's like coming back to a new year of school. Like, there's people you, like, missed and there's people you were like, oh, God, you again. So. But other than that, other than that, it was nice. It's obviously nice to be back competing and just being back on tour.
D
Yeah.
C
It was actually my first time playing the Brisbane International because I've obviously been in United cup every year, but. Yeah, no, it was a good time. Yeah, Maddie.
B
It was good. I obviously kind of had a little shock to the system with an almost three hour match, three tiebreakers. Yeah, you're welcome, Jess.
D
Lucky.
B
So, yeah, definitely went from like 0 to 100, but have to be back playing. It's always. It's like no matter what you do in practice, you can never actually simulate a match.
C
So, like, the soreness is so completely different too.
B
I mean, the soreness, the stress, just like all of it, it's just so different. And it's like no matter what you do in practice, to try to even get close to that it doesn't happen. So I always feel like the first match back after, even if you. It's just been, like, a few weeks. It's like whatever your landing side is for on your serve the next morning, you're like, why does my butt hurt so much?
C
Or hip or everything.
D
Yeah, it's like the. The joke is the. The WTA thy.
C
Women's. Women's Taping association.
E
Thy.
D
Well, or right leg if you're lefty. Yeah. Yeah, my. Yeah, my. I played, like, four matches in four days. Like Maddie said, it was kind of a shock to the system. It's also, you know, like, pretty hot here. Not, like, crazy, but, you know, just like putting yourself in, you know, summer in Australia, playing. You know, I had, like, three really tough matches yesterday. I kind of got crushed, so that was the least quick, but it's. Yeah, it's tough. I didn't have the best preseason because I had a couple, like, injuries, so I didn't really get a lot of, like, good loading days for, like, a consistent amount of time. So this week definitely broke. I, yeah, broke my body in really fast, but I actually didn't feel that sore. I don't know why I thought I was going to be a lot more sore than I was. So that was a win for me.
C
That's good.
D
But I mean, like, I was glad I had tough matches because it's one thing if you win, like, a couple easy matches and, like, you weren't really challenged and you're like, oh, that's great. But I feel like to start the year, you always want to get through, like, the really tough matches to, like, test your nerve and test your fitness and test yourself under pressure. So I'm glad that I had three, you know, really close, tight, tough matches with a lot of, like, pressure games, pressure points, because you just. You can't replicate it, like Maddie said, at all. It's not even close.
C
It's a different pressure.
D
It's a different.
E
Yeah. Yeah.
D
My first match against Count Sky, I. We had, like, the first two sets, kind of like. I won the first set fast. She won the second set fast. But the third set was, like, intense. And at one point I was like. I was like, oh, my God. I'm, like, gasping for air, like a couple long points. I was like, wow, I'm really feeling it again. And then I was like, fine. But, yeah, when you get that, like, the lungs burn a little bit after a few, like, intense points, you're like, oh, there it is. Shock to the system.
C
Yeah. Maddie.
E
Maddie.
C
And I Were hitting and we were, like, trying to listen and we heard, okay, just went for a set. And then we're like, just. Or call and sky. And we're like, oh, no, third set. Again.
D
Me and Anna love. We just love a battle. I also just tend to play the same people. Like, I don't like even Samsonova, Marta. Like, I've played Countskaya, I guess, yes. Drumsko was a new one, but I literally. I'm like, Mark's like, you just play the same people over again. And it's people that I, like, have battles with. He's like, why don't we ever get, like, an easier match situation?
C
I'm like, oh, you did get a straight set win.
E
Yeah, I did.
C
Oh, my God, That's a win.
E
Yeah, Seriously.
D
Barely. I was like, down a break in both sets. I was like, no, straight set, straight sets. But yeah.
E
Andy Roddick said on his podcast that he could always tell when someone had a good preseason based on how they're looking and playing. Is there anybody besides yourselves? Maybe Maddie and Des? Obviously, based off what Jess said, she didn't have a great preseason.
D
Looking terrible. And, yeah, she's just looking bad these days.
E
Andy's probably not complimenting you. Is there. Is there anybody that you guys think like, wow, they look fitter or stronger or you're just like, everybody looks the same. It's a three week preseason. You don't really have time to, like.
B
I mean, I think there's. I mean, there's a few of the women that I've seen where I'm like, wow, they look really fit. Like, you can tell that they put in a lot of work, just, like, kind of focusing on that. I think part of that also, though, is that it's just kind of like the first time that anyone has had time to actually focus on training outside of just tennis. I mean, even. I mean, Marta always looks super fit. But, like, watching her play yesterday, I was like, whoa.
D
She was.
C
I think she lost, what, three points out of the 18 that we were watching.
D
Jessica. Thanks for the reminder, dad.
C
Sorry.
D
She was just, like, redlining everything. I looked over at Margaret zoning in. I don't. I was like, I might not win a game. Like, I like, if I don't do something here. Like, what is going on? She always looks so fit, though, and the outfit made her look even more fish.
C
She always looks good in that. In the clothing in the Wilson.
E
Yeah.
D
I was trying to think who else looked like who. Who was like, tower.
C
Clara's look. Clara's looking fitter.
D
Clara. Yeah. Looked fitter.
E
Yeah.
D
There was someone else, but I don't remember who it was, but I think sometimes you can tell.
B
It's like a blur. You're just like, oh, they look good. And then you move on with your life. Move on.
D
And you're like, oh, I hope I don't play them.
B
Yeah. You're like, may. Maybe they're looking too fit.
D
I'm in trouble. Yeah.
E
I hope they say the same thing about me.
D
Yeah.
E
Do you have any thoughts on United Cup? I know Jess and dez, you guys stayed up late to watch the US Poland match. Yeah.
D
Should have gone to third set, tie break. That had so many chances. But that's. That's mixed, though, especially with the no ad.
C
Yeah, there have been a lot of good matches. I mean, when it's come down to the mixed doubles, it's been pretty entertaining. Like, even.
E
What?
C
They won 10, eight against Greece. US played Greece in Perth and they won 10 eight. That was exciting.
B
There's been a lot of really good United cup matches.
C
Yeah, really good. Yeah.
B
I mean, some. Some of the guys are playing insane tennis. Like, QB's playing so well. Zizou has had some amazing matches. Stan's playing Baez. Baez was playing unreal against. Was it Stan the other night?
E
Yeah.
C
And Fritz.
E
He beat Fritz.
D
I think it was Cavoli. And Vavranka, too, had a crazy match.
B
There's been some really, really good matches. Yeah.
C
And Vavrinka, like, they were saying he is coaching, so he's been on the bench the whole time, coaching, playing. And then I don't know if he played the mix, but he was out there all day for the match and it was so hot.
B
Did you guys see Belinda and Merton's match yesterday? Benchic.
D
I didn't watch.
C
I did. I watched the whole score.
B
I saw that. It was like Belinda was, like, down. It was like two points from losing and. Oh, yeah, switched her racket and then came back and, like, didn't lose another point.
C
Nine points. Nine points in a row. Yep.
E
Oh, my God.
D
So she won the tie break 70.
B
She won. She switched rackets and then won, like, nine points in a row.
D
Crazy love that.
E
Yeah.
D
Yeah.
C
Watching him was in. Watching him come back after, what, it was seven months or so that he's been out. I mean, he's playing really well. It was fun to watch.
E
Yeah, but.
D
But, yeah, the mixed. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the mix. I was telling you guys, I think it's like the perfect blend of doubles with the men and the women, like, they're. Because the men usually doubles, it can be really quick because they have, like, big serves and they just, like, take the volley after that and it's like so quick. And then sometimes the woman's doubles, I feel like, isn't, you know, like the highest quality. There's like too many rallies and too many lobs and too many things because people. It's like the opposite. Like, don't put it away. So. So I feel like when you have the men and women for mix, it's like, so entertaining. I've watched a couple of the Mix matches and I was like, I'm enjoying this. So it was fun.
C
Yeah, yeah, it's definitely fun to watch.
D
Yeah. So it's Switzerland and Poland. Poland. Poland in the finals.
C
Yeah.
D
God, Belinda loves to play for her country.
E
Yeah.
C
I feel like a lot of them do. Plays.
D
Unbelievable.
E
Yeah.
C
And she plays well in those team events.
E
Yeah.
D
Yeah. That's what I mean, didn't she when she won gold? And then she always used to win a lot in Hoffman Cup.
B
She always won Hopman Cup.
E
Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
B
Granted, it was. She played with Fed a lot, so.
E
Yeah.
D
Yeah. And speaking of Fed, he. Yeah, it's doing meet and greets at Australian Open. 20 grand for these meet and greets. And they sold out to shake his hand. Did you pay 20 grand?
E
No.
C
No. Is that.
D
Would you pay anybody 20 grand?
E
I know what you're going to say.
D
No, to meet Josh. How much would you make?
C
How much would you.
D
I would need more than a handshake.
C
There it is.
B
That's the real answer. She did it. Wait, 20? 20 grand for Marat or.
E
Oh, more than a handshake.
D
It's crazy, though. And there's, like some VIP experiences that are going for a lot, too. Like $2,500. But 20k for a meet and greet is wild.
C
It's wild, but it.
B
I mean, it's Fed. People love Fed.
C
I mean, I love Fed.
D
He's so cool.
B
He's so cool. He's so nice.
D
He's so nice.
E
Yeah, he does. His aura is off the charts.
B
Yeah, he just like. He's like, never touching the ground.
C
He's just kind of just glides every.
D
Time I see him, too. He, like, will come up and, like, so nice. Oh, my God. How are you? Like, full conversation.
C
I remember when I first. Not everyone was first on tour and I saw Fed and I was like, oh, my God. This was at Wimbledon and there's that balcony where you can watch Court three and there's, like, a winding staircase. I don't know if you guys remember that. So I see him coming out the doors from, like, the championship locker rooms. And I was like, oh, my God, I got it. This was like, when it was completely empty on the grounds. And I was like, I gotta go get a photo with him. So I'm going down this, like, spiral staircase. So, like, as fast as I could, but, like, I'm trying to, like, not trip. And I was like, hey, hey, Fed.
E
Can I.
C
Can I get a photo, please? Like, I am dying. Like, I'm just, like, going down these stairs. And he's like, yeah, sure. But I was, like, so excited. But I don't think I paid 20 grand for that. I mean, if someone paid me 20 grand to shake their hand, sure, that's totally fine.
E
Yeah, I get it.
B
When I was first on tour, I always wore the Fed hats, the Nike Fed hats. One, because I was obsessed. And two, just because they were a gray hat. And I would wear them around the tournament all the time. And my agent would always be like, that's so embarrassing. Like, you're wearing his hat in front of him. And I was like, hell, yeah, am. Like, he's going to know that I.
E
Am a fan, and then he will be my fan.
B
Every time he'd see me, he's like, yeah, good hat. Like, I know.
C
Conversation starter. See?
E
Yeah. And now you don't wear it ever since they went away with the. The Nike rf.
B
Well, he's with Uniclo.
D
I know.
E
Rip.
C
What a good hat.
D
He's so cool, though. Oozes aura.
E
Yeah.
D
So I don't know. 20 grand's a lot. After watching the woman take that wild card, I was wondering if she possibly paid 20 grand for the tournament that she played in.
B
Oh. Oh, the Nairobi.
C
It.
E
Yeah. Yeah.
D
What? I mean, I think that video went viral very quickly. The woman could not play tennis.
C
Confused as to what this is. I felt bad for the girl. She was playing.
B
She didn't even know how to, like, how to keep score, how to serve. And it was like, would. She lost three points, and it took, like, 38 minutes. But someone was saying it took 38 minutes because she wouldn't serve with two balls. So she would, like, miss a serve, walk to the back fence, grab another ball, come back. Yeah. Miss another serve. And it was, like, just so drawn out. But it was. It was suspect. These.
D
Suspect.
E
I'm getting.
D
So wait, let me just explain. The woman, this woman in Nairobi took a wild card into a. What level was it like a 30, 35.
E
It was a 35.
D
35. And this video went 35k tournament. And this video kind of went viral online. If you guys, you know, whoever's listening hasn't watched it, it's quite entertaining. She could not play tennis, like looked like she had never picked up a racket in her life. And she's playing in a professional tournament against somebody. And like Maddie said, it took 38 minutes for her to win, lose. Oh no. She won three points. I don't even know how she won three points.
B
Two double faults and one error.
C
Oh, there we go.
D
There we go. But it was like, obviously there's no ball, kids or anything at this tournament. And so I did watch some of the points. It like would took so long, I would have been losing my mind. Because she would take forever to serve, then she'd miss the serve and then the girl would have to go hit her a second ball because she wouldn't hold two balls. And then she like almost like didn't. She was almost standing like in the center line. Yeah, like she wasn't standing like in the right spots. She had no idea. Yeah, she.
C
On that back foot. I know, I know those calls.
D
She was standing like reversed. It was so weird.
C
But also there was a point where she, in the match, she would grab the two balls, put them in the back by the like, kind of like not near the fence but close enough for her to like if she missed the first serve, be quick enough to go grab it. And I'm like, she's going to trip on this. But I guess the points aren't long enough. But then like, I mean, yeah, I mean, well, I don't know if the points are long enough, but the girl that she was playing, I kind of felt bad because I think they zoomed in on her and she was just like, oh my. She was embarrassed. She was like, this is, this is how this is to get to the pros. Like, shoot. Jenny and I are going to go out there, you know, and play.
E
Oh my gosh. Yeah, I need. I'm going to.
D
I would have beat her left handed. All of us would have beat her lefty.
E
She needs to pay 20k to be a wild card in my first match back and I play her first round first dub.
D
Did you see the statement that they came out with? I did.
C
I didn't read it.
D
Federation or something. They basically said that the reason she got a wild card was because whoever was originally supposed to take the wild card ended up having to pull out or not play so they had no one else to give the wild card to, and they had an application for this wild card from this woman who filled out all of this info that made it seem like she was credible. I'm pretty sure she flew in for that. That tournament.
C
Oh, my gosh.
D
And I'm like, do you. Why wouldn't you just, like, go. Did you not Google her name and see that she's never played? Like, you can fact check people online pretty.
E
Pretty easily.
C
You think that she knew she was entering, like, a professional event? Or do you think she's just like, oh, I just want to play a tournament.
E
I'll just, you know, sign up or whatever?
D
She filled out an application.
B
I mean, she has an eye pin.
E
Yeah.
B
Oh, my God.
D
And I think she's paid.
B
Wow.
E
Oh, my God. She paid her membership. She paid her membership fee, and she did the training.
B
There was no.
D
I have so many questions.
E
There was training. I just did it.
C
I want her to come out with a statement. Like what? I wonder what she thinks. So maybe should get her on the lane to fame, I guess.
E
Next guest on the pod.
B
Hello.
C
Reach out and experience after Co Coco.
D
And then this lady. Yeah. So, I mean, like, there was a lot of outlets that posted that video. It was pretty.
E
Yeah.
D
Like, yeah, it was pretty wild. I have a feeling that might. That whole thing might get investigated, I'm.
B
Sure, because it was a little suspect.
D
Yeah.
E
I mean, if I were the girl playing against her, like, I would just be like, okay, clearly she doesn't know how to play tennis, so obviously she can't really keep score. So after, like, a couple games, I'd be like, oh, okay, like, match is over. Like, go, Shaker. Okay, Jenny, like, you defaulted.
D
It's like, yeah, I'd be like, umpire. Can we just, like, default her? Like, yeah, there was a chair.
E
Like, what? There was.
D
I think there was a chair.
C
Was there?
E
No, no, I said 35k. There's probably someone roaming.
C
I thought I saw roaming umpire.
E
Roaming umpire.
C
Bring your own scorecards too.
D
Yeah. Ptsd. That woman was so bad. It was awful. That's crazy. Did anybody see the little beef with Sangha and Patrick Marathoglu? Joe Wilford song, to be exact.
C
I did.
D
I did. It wasn't beef. It was just, like, a disagreement.
B
I'm kind of a. I'm kind of a Sangha. Stan.
E
Yeah, so.
B
I'm kind of gonna go with Joe.
D
So he was.
C
What actually happened?
D
He was talking about his generation of players. So, like, Stan Novak, Roger, y', all probably Andy and I Think he was basically saying that he was kind of comparing that generation with the newer generation. And he said.
C
He was saying Prime Songa.
B
He was saying Stan. He was saying Carlos and Jannik wouldn't dominate that generation the way that they're dominating this generation. Which, like, I never like these conversations because you can't actually compare. Like, there's. You can't compare. It's like in any sport, when you try to go generation versus generation, it doesn't actually ever work. So as far as that part of the conversation, I'm like, I don't really. I don't really agree. I guess I think it's too hard to tell. But that's where, like, Joe was saying he thought Janik and Carlos would struggle to dominate the way that they are in his era. And then that's when Patrick kind of chimed in, and then it became like a argument amongst themselves. He basically started fighting a little bit.
D
Patrick. Yeah. Patrick has said that he only had one good year. And then Sanga came back. Came back and was like, you've never been in our shoes. You were never a top player. Yeah. And when you go down that. Yeah. You can't really. Patrick can't.
B
Patrick has never played professional match.
D
Yeah.
E
Throw him into the 35k.
C
Let's see how he got it next week, baby.
E
Give him a wild card.
B
I thought it was. I thought it was pretty disrespectful for. I'm gonna write this tournament director to say that Joe has only had one good year. Like.
D
Yeah, yeah.
C
Pretty bold statement, player.
D
Let's run through his stats real quick since I have them. 2008, Runner up at Australian Open 1 Paris Masters 2011 Semifinals at Wimbledon Runner up of ATP Finals 2012, Number 5 in the World Semifinals of Wimbledon, 2013 Quarterfinals Roland Garros 24. 2013 Quarterfiles Roland Garros 2014 wins Masters 1000 in Canada 2015 Quarterfinals at Roland Garros again. So I think he was, like, pretty good.
E
He's pretty decent. What is. Can you. Yeah, can you read me?
D
Can you read Patrick?
C
What is. What are his stats?
B
Okay. I guess it's like, Patrick has coached a lot of good players.
C
Oh, okay.
B
But I don't think that's.
E
Yeah, but it's. We're not talking about coaching. Yeah, yeah.
C
Talking about playing. But you just.
D
You can't call out someone and say you had one good year when you are a coach and you never even played.
C
Played.
D
You can't really. Like, you just can't say that.
B
You also can't say that you had one good year when it's like, he had more than one good year. What are you.
C
The stats are there.
E
That's more than one. Yeah.
D
If I'm a big Sangha fan. Big song. Love watching him play. Yeah.
E
I wouldn't pay 20k to shake his hand, but I do love him.
B
Big fan. Okay, so because we are in the Australian swing, we're going to play a little Survivor, Australian outback edition. So I'm going to give, like, conditions, and we're gonna see who we think would survive the best within these conditions. Okay. Who survives the longest? If it's 110 degrees outside at practice, Black court, there's no shade.
D
I just know it's not dez.
C
It's not me.
E
Not dez.
B
Not Does. Nah, it's not me.
D
I don't know, Jenny.
B
I feel like the Floridians would be okay.
E
Yeah, I think all of us. Yeah.
C
The west coast girly, not in it.
E
Yeah.
B
Everyone is like, it's 72 and 80% humidity. DE is like, what is this? What is this?
C
Oh, my God, I'm melting.
B
Okay, the heat rule is in. But you just won the set. So, like, do you take it and try to go and cool off, or do you just try to, like, keep the momentum and not take the 10 minutes?
E
No, don't take it.
D
Oh, my God. Serve it out.
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
I've never taken a hue.
E
Yeah, me either.
D
Who takes it? Yeah, a lot of people.
E
Desiree 100.
C
Hang on.
D
She did remember.
C
Hang on. The one time. Hell, yeah. I'm gonna take that 10 minutes. I also was so nervous that match that, like, I was, I think, cramping. I think that was. No, that was my first Swiss Open. I was so nervous, and I was like, I'm taking this heat roll, even though we didn't even get it. But, yeah, we don't get heat rolls in doubles.
D
Yeah, you illegally took a heat.
C
Hey, I will take full advantage of that. But you might even know. So, yes, I will take the heat. Right. But not when I'm serving it out. No, you just go ahead.
B
Go. Well, the men just implemented it, so.
C
They'Re for sure gonna be taking it.
D
Like, wait, they can take one before they serve?
B
No, no, because the heat.
C
No, no. I'm just saying in general. Yeah.
D
Yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah, I think it's the same as ours, though, right? Yeah, they go off of the.
C
Do you guys.
B
Do you guys like the heat globe?
E
Yeah, we need to go get a heat reading with my globe thing.
B
I'm like, you're playing a match and you see one of the physios in the corner with this machine, and they're just standing a weapon on the hip just like this.
C
Okay.
D
Yeah, we've done it for a while. So.
C
Do you guys like it? Like, what if. What if. I don't know, like, your opponent's taking it and you're. Are you kind of like, ugh, yeah, they're just stalling or whatever.
D
It hasn't happened that many times.
E
I don't.
D
Yeah, I, like, I don't even know when that's ever happened.
B
I can't think of any time that I've taken.
C
Remember, Remember, it was so hot. And I mean.
B
Yeah, but they take us off the courts. Like, that's like, you got. No, like, everyone off. We're not putting matches on.
C
Suspended. Yeah. From the heat.
B
Okay. Okay.
D
I think in China this year, they. Sorry. They had. They took it off.
E
Okay.
B
Oh, they. They removed people.
D
They removed. Remember? They removed everyone. And then there was like, that weird thing where you guys should have been on.
C
I was playing. I was playing and everyone was suspended and whatnot. Like, we were dying on the court.
D
And somehow they, like, I think they messed it up. And Des is like, we weren't even supposed to be out there.
C
No, but I was like. It was actually Sonia was like, God, it's so hot. But where is everyone? I was like, oh, I have no idea. And then we come back and that's when they were like, yeah, you guys weren't even supposed to be playing. It's too hot. Like, it's dangerous. And I was like, well, we lost anyways. Oh, well.
D
And then the guys in Shanghai were, like, wilting because they didn't have a heat advisory. And that's probably why now they have one.
E
Yeah.
B
Okay, last one. Ice towel. There's no ice towels. It's incredibly hot out. Who melts? Does. Does melt.
C
Guys.
E
I've never used an ice towel. I've never used an ice towel. I don't want my opponents to think I'm weak.
C
It's not weak. It's being proactive.
B
Yeah, that's, like, helpful, but that's, like, a personal issue.
C
Yeah.
B
That you should.
C
But you can still say me, but I'm just gonna. I'm gonna defend myself and say, according to the WTA physios, it's you being smart and you're pre cooling. Okay.
B
I've not used an ice towel the way that DEZ has probably used an ice towel.
C
I put it between my thighs. Sometimes I do that.
D
I go, ice bag, though. I don't like the towel, because I don't. I want just the ice. I'm like, can I just have a bag of ice? And I'll just kind of, like, put it in between my thighs. Yeah, yeah.
B
The ice towel doesn't actually get that cold.
D
No, I don't.
C
Unless they wet it and then.
E
Yeah, no, it's. But it's just a wet blob.
C
But it's still me. I guess I'm not surviving.
B
She doesn't use it because she doesn't want her opponents to think that she's weak.
C
It's a sign of weakness.
E
Haven't you ever picked them up? They're literally dripping. I'm like, no, I don't want to add £10 to my shirt. I'm trying to be aerodynamic out there. I need all the help I can get.
B
Okay, so based on just heat conditions, who is surviving? I feel like everyone survives except for Des.
E
Except for Des.
D
Yeah. That's how we'll answer all of these.
B
We vote for Des.
D
All.
C
This is a tough birthday, I gotta say. Geez, guys.
D
Yeah. Yeah.
B
We didn't even.
D
Did we even mention that?
E
Well, no, we'll go. Okay.
D
It's not until tomorrow.
B
So now we are. Now we're switching gears, and we're going to wildlife encounters. You open your gym bag, and there's a snake in there. Who's the most likely to pretend that it's fine? Who's gonna scream and who's gonna just be like, actually totally chill.
C
I'm screaming.
D
I'm fine.
C
I don't do.
B
I'm setting my bag on fire.
D
Like, I don't really care about snakes.
C
Wait, do you like them? Do you, like, have a pet snake?
D
No, I just, like, don't care. Like, they don't freak me out. Spiders, yes. Snakes, No.
E
I. I'm like, is it poisonous? Because if not, well, you're in Australia, so everything's poisonous. Yeah, it's not. Great. I'd probably just be like, oh, and. Yeah, that's it.
C
I. Yeah, definitely.
E
I don't know. I'd have to. Yeah.
C
Definitely not grabbing my phone for that, because.
E
No, no.
B
Okay. There's a kangaroo blocking the court.
C
Definitely getting. Definitely getting my phone out.
D
Yeah.
E
Okay. I'm gonna go fight it.
B
Seen them, like, attack people.
D
They're mean, so strong.
B
And they use. They'll, like, use their tail.
C
They use their tail to balcony their tail kick you.
D
I would be more afraid of that thing beating me up than a snake. To be honest.
B
True.
E
Yeah. I'm just envisioning myself, like, in a fight with a kangaroo.
B
I would lose. I would be like, oh, my God.
C
Do you want some food? And, like, try and get a selfie with it, you know?
D
Yeah. That's what I would probably do to feed it. I've met a lot of you before in.
B
Melbourne.
D
I met your brother and sister, cousin.
C
We hung out. We're lounging.
B
Okay. There's a spider in your shoe.
D
Oh, yeah. I don't like that if it's a daddy long leg.
C
I mean, I don't know if they have those here. They do. It's fine if it's like a huntsman. No, no.
D
I don't really like spiders.
E
I don't love spiders. There was a spider on me yesterday.
B
I'm like an outsidey kind of person. Not an outdoorsy kind of person. Like a spritz on the patio kind of person. I'm not really, like, a bugs.
C
Like.
B
Outdoorsy, like, I'm gonna go trek through the woods kind of person.
D
Yeah. Yeah. I don't like. I like. In Florida, I check my shoes for spiders when I have them outside.
E
Yeah.
C
Oh, I've never done that.
D
Or lizards. I've definitely had a lizard in my shoe.
E
Oh, yeah.
B
Okay. Well, yeah, I guess the last one is there's a locker room or there's a lizard in the locker room. And we actually just had that in Brisbane. And Jess was like, I got it. It's fine.
C
Didn't just pick it up and just manage standing up.
D
Like, like, guys, we're from Florida. Like, get your together.
E
Yes.
D
I, like, scooped it up. It wasn't even that.
E
It was like, you have to tire them out.
D
I just, like, shovel it. Got it in a towel so I didn't have to really touch it.
E
Oh, yeah.
C
I would be fine with lizards. Those are fine.
B
Anything wildlife, I would. I'm voting myself off of the island.
E
Fair.
B
I'm gone.
C
I'm like. I'm like, one foot in, one foot out, but probably off.
D
Who do you think would survive naked and afraid with the four of us?
E
Jenny.
B
Jenny.
D
I kind of do think it would be Jenny.
C
Jenny would be thriving.
D
Why turn primal, Jenny?
B
Because of stuff. Like, she doesn't use ice towels so that her opponents don't think she's weak.
E
Like, I'd be like, yeah, you. Yeah, you go over there and you. You forage for some food. I'm gonna be over here.
B
I'm fine.
C
I'm gonna be trying to make my banana leaf house over Here, Like.
D
Yeah.
C
Okay, let's move on to the deprivation. Who survives with nothing? No coffee for the entire week or entire tournament. Maddie.
D
I'm also out.
B
The caffeine headache would hit immediately.
C
I'm in. I'll survive. Okay, what about one towel for the week? Oh, I'm a sweaty. No, there's no way.
E
Yeah, that's.
D
That's.
E
That's crossing a line.
D
Jenny takes, like, six showers a day.
E
Yeah, I can't.
C
Okay, what about no phones, no wi fi, Just raw.
E
Raw.
C
Dogging it.
E
You know, Sign me up.
D
Jenny would definitely. I think.
C
Yeah.
B
Genuine.
D
I think you would successfully do it and love it.
C
Yeah, I'd be good for a few.
B
Days, and then I'd get, like, my. My finger would want to, like, scroll ticket.
D
Why, oh, why do I want.
B
What am I doing?
C
Okay, cold showers only.
E
Absolutely not. I needed to scorch my skin.
C
Oh, my gosh.
E
I need to come out of the shower with, like, red skin because it's hot.
C
Do you want to talk about that?
D
I'll do cold showers.
C
Okay.
E
Okay. Well, there are no hot showers. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I wouldn't survive. Yeah.
C
Okay.
E
All right.
B
I would be.
C
Who wouldn't survive out of this bunch?
E
It seems like 50. 50. Like, all of us seems like.
B
Seems like we're all kind of all over the place, I think.
E
Yeah, we all didn't make it.
C
Okay, okay, for this one, which would. Which one of us would break first? Heat or which. Is that right?
E
He would break you first. Heat.
D
Heat.
E
Hunger.
D
Does Des.
E
Okay, I'll do it. Which would break you first? Heat, Hunger. Sleep deprivation. Bad coffee or no music. Hunger.
C
Hunger.
B
Yeah, hunger.
C
I get hangry.
D
Or sleep deprivation. Maybe.
E
I can survive a sleep deprivation.
B
The blackout. The blackout in Madrid. We, like, missed dinner. We missed lunch. Dinner and breakfast the next morning, and I had to play a match, and I was like, I think I'm dying.
C
I'm melting.
B
So, yeah, I think hunger's taking me out.
D
It's definitely taking. I think I'll take most of us out.
B
Yeah.
C
Couldn't do it. All right, Jenny, continue.
E
Final tribal council. Who actually thinks they'd have the best survival skills between all of us?
B
I don't have any survival skills.
E
I think I'd figure it out.
D
Jenny and I would be. We'd make it.
B
Jenny and Jess will make it.
C
I'll just see myself out.
E
Des would be like, where's the hair curler? Where's my hair curler?
C
Where's my matcha?
D
I could kind of see Des being that one person that eats, like, the berries off the bush and then dies. Oh, my God, they just ate it. They're like, there were blueberries, and we're like, no. The hunger games rip desert. She's getting, like, the medical evac and like, the show, like, God damn.
B
No. But the best would be there'd be a sign, like, right next to it that would be like, berries poisonous.
C
Do not eat.
E
Yeah. And be like, Des would just read the first part. Berries.
C
Oh.
B
Poor des.
D
It's her birthday. Tough guys decided this whole segment just about me.
C
Good or bad.
E
Happy birthday, Roseray. You are in love.
D
Desiree. Thank you.
C
Thank you.
E
From our last episode, we had Coco as our guest. And as a refresher for all the fans, let's do a quick recap of her. Three clues for her. Who am I? First was. You can find me at the zoo. Tallest of the pack. They got aced by one of the slowest serves ever. They are from the same city as the rappers lotto and young thug.
D
Her.
E
Who am I Was Chris eubanks.
D
Knew it.
E
Yeah.
C
Knew it. Jenny, what'd you. Who did you guess?
E
Okay, well, my initial thought was Chris, and then for some reason, the serve part, like, I don't know, like, threw me off, and I don't know why. And I said taylor Fritz because he was, like, playing mixed against Irani at u. S. Open, and she was serving slow, and he was struggling to return her serve. And that, like, for some reason, like, my brain went there, and she was like, no.
B
So, I mean, kind of. Kind of savage of Coco to be, like, got aced by the slowest serve ever.
D
Yeah.
C
She must be close with him.
D
So, yeah, I knew it was Chris who aced him.
B
Wasn't it, like, a.
C
Wasn't it, like, a mishit?
D
It was a mishit. The shank that went, like, really high and, like, barely went over the net and it, like, came back or something like that.
B
It was maxime cressy.
C
Oh, was it him? Wow. Maybe it was.
B
Did I just pull that out of my.
C
Wow, that's pretty good.
D
That's true. We need to fact check.
B
I'm just gonna say that it's true.
E
Go bruins.
B
Yep.
D
Oh, my God.
B
Good job. Look at me with my tennis knowledge.
E
Yeah.
C
You're so good.
D
We go, girl. That was incredible.
E
Undefeated. Okay, let's move on to some fan questions.
B
First question, it was 26 mile an hour.
E
Oh, my God.
D
And he serves bombs like, that's what's so funny.
B
Doesn't he also like, literally the top of his racket.
E
Yeah. Okay, let's move on to some fan questions. First question from Sam. If each of your rackets could talk, what would it say about you? Why so serious?
B
I don't know why.
D
Mine would be like, do you ever hit spin? Like, I could teach you how to hit some spin maybe. I don't know, something like that.
B
Mine would probably be like, will you please switch me out? You've been using this racket for, like, 10 days.
C
No, mine would probably just be like, whoa, let's try and get, like, three balls on the court, you know, today in a row. I don't know. Pretty erratic here and there, and then shocked when we do.
E
Yeah.
D
Jenny, are you still sticking with your.
B
Yeah.
D
Why?
B
So seriously?
E
Yeah. Can I.
D
Can you.
E
Can you be nice to me, please? Can you be nice?
C
Just start petting your racket.
E
From Anna off the court. But can be tennis related or not. What has been a. I can't believe I got to do this moment. Because you are a pro tennis player, Maddie.
B
Just like, our life is very different. Like, we travel around the world. I'm from, like, a very small area in the Midwest, so not very many people. Like, even in my family, like, some of my family, they don't even have passports. And, like, it was like, very strange, I guess, to, like, travel extensively. So the fact that, you know, I'm like, in Australia for, like, the 15th year and I'm like, yeah, it's totally normal, I think, is really cool.
E
Yeah.
C
Have the different experiences and just, you know, see the world or get to see some of the wonders of the world. It's. It's pretty cool. And people, I mean, hopefully, you know, people don't take it for granted or players take it for granted that we get to see all these cool places. But, like, I do a good job, as you guys have said in the past, that to go and see different things and keep it interesting and, you know, appreciate where we're at. Because who knows, after you stop playing, you're not maybe gonna do all this stuff and travel and have the opportunity to do that.
E
I'll piggyback as well. I mean, it's pretty cool. We get to go to all these places and we kind of, like, sometimes, like, take it for granted. Oh, yeah. I have to go all the way to Australia. I have to go all the way to, you know, like, China, so. But it's like, such a cool experience that a lot of people never get to have. And yeah, Maddie's same, like, you know, my Family, like, it's never left the country, so they don't even know what it's like outside of the US or even just like, you know, some people never get to leave their state in the U.S. so, yeah, it's pretty cool opportunity that we have.
D
You guys already said it, so I'll just piggyback off of you guys. I think it's cool that I get to play in all these also. Not just travel, but, like, play in arenas and stadiums, to me is really cool. Like, every time I'm in, like, a really nice stadium, I'm like, wow, I'm in Australia or China or Italy. Like, playing in this stadium around. Playing in stadiums around the world. And tennis, you know, cool courts, I think is always where I have like a. This is pretty cool moment.
C
Or like the exo that you did. Right. You did it in the baseball stadium.
E
Yeah, the Marlins.
D
Yeah. Like, playing. I mean, that's one of the reasons I played because I was like, you don't really get a chance to play different venues. To be able to play in the Marlins, to play in MSG was insane. To play Prudential. Prudential Center. Like, it's cool.
E
Yeah.
D
You know, we're never gonna get that chance again. Maybe so.
E
Okay, next question from Heather Knobbler. Underscore pb what are yalls thoughts on pickleball? Have you tried it? I'm assuming by her underscore pb she likes pickleball. I'm sorry, Heather. Heather Knobbler. We're not really. Pickleball stance. Yeah. Not fans. Yeah.
B
They're stealing our courts. The sound is terrible.
E
Yeah.
B
Like, I can't. It sounds so bad. And they're stealing all of our tennis court courts.
D
Yeah.
C
Yeah. One of my best friends is a pickleball player. She did transition from tennis to pickle ball, so I definitely support her in pickle ball. But as a tennis player, it is so hard. I'm not a big pickle ball fan.
E
Yeah, I went. I actually went to go watch KK play.
C
Yeah.
E
In the desert. Okay, next question from Samwell Peabody. When and how did Jess become a Blinkova appreciator? And how did Jenny become a Saffin appreciator? And does anyone else fangirl obsessively over a player like Jenny does? Marat. Okay. Obsessively is like.
B
It's more so a joke.
E
Yeah, it was a joke. On the podcast. That one episode.
D
You're more obsessed with Josh Allen.
C
Yeah.
E
Like, if you guys have seen my Instagram, the only thing I go on Instagram and do is look at videos of Josh Allen and repost on my stories. And then I call it a day. I swipe up and I'm out of the app. Did my daily duty.
D
You maybe reply or sentiment.
C
Yes. DMs and say, hey, yeah.
E
I reply, good luck today, good luck tomorrow.
C
I'll be watching Joshi.
E
I'll be cheering for you, Joshi. You know, if it doesn't work out with Haley, I can be good. Never mind.
C
I'm done.
E
Okay, guess. Do you want to answer the first part of the question?
D
Oh, yeah. Blinky. I just think that she has an incredible attitude and she always competes and it doesn't matter if she wins or she loses. Oh, no. She literally is the exact same energy, competitiveness, spirit, and I feel like it's so hard to find. And she's literally like that. Every single match. Every single match like that I watched.
B
We're kind of all Blinky.
D
Yeah. She's like.
B
It's so.
D
Attitude is incredible. She's so sweet. She's so nice. She's like, she doesn't get enough credit.
E
She's a great person.
D
Her incredible attitude. So that's why.
E
Okay, so this week, our intern on Instagram did and did a poll of if we all went on the show, traders, who would be the best trader? And an overwhelming 44% said, Jess, what does everyone think? Do you guys agree? I don't know if any one of you.
C
Can you explain the traders?
B
I don't know what traders is.
E
I'm not a good explainer, but I'll try my best. So.
C
Oh, boy.
E
It is a show where you have people that. I'm waiting for Harris to write me.
D
Give me some insight.
B
Give me some insight.
C
In the.
E
In the chat, as I'm.
C
She's typing as fast as she can.
D
Yeah.
E
As I'm bluffing this.
D
Stalling.
E
Yeah. Okay, so traders is a bunch of celebrity contestants like ourselves. Traders are basically voting people off. And the people who aren't traders are trying to figure out who the traders are. They create alliances. So there's three secret traders in the show, and the rest are just. Just narbs. And so traitors are having to lie and scheme and hide their identity. Okay. So they have to, like, complete, like, tasks and things without anyone knowing who they are. Without anyone knowing who they are. And then people vote. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think people vote who they think the traitor is. And if they guess it right, then the trader goes home.
D
And.
E
Then there's only two left because they start with three.
D
So it's basically what it sounds like. I'd be a great trader, liar, schemer, manipulator.
E
Yeah. It can't be trusted or trustworthy. Maddie would be voted off, like, first. First coding that we have, the first voting that we have. Everyone would everyone say Maddie? Yeah.
B
Yeah. That's probably why people didn't think that I'd be very good. Although I think that I could probably do a good job. Maybe my face would give me away.
E
Yeah, your face would give you away for sure. I voted for myself.
B
Oh, on the poll.
E
Yeah.
D
I feel like you would be the worst one here.
B
You'd be a terrible liar.
D
Yeah, I know.
E
I just wanted to get my numbers up.
C
Honestly, I don't even know if I voted or not. If I did, I probably voted for myself. Not knowing what traders was.
E
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
C
It's always the quiet ones, you know.
D
Why was I overwhelmed for them? And it says an overwhelming 44%. What does that say about me?
E
We're just.
B
We're sending. We're sending Jess into a spiral.
E
Yeah. You would be so chill about it. You just. Yeah, go with the flow.
D
I would just manipulate everybody.
E
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
It seems that way.
E
Me and DEZ would. Maddie's face would give her away. Me and Dez's, like, energy would be like, why is she acting so weird? Like, Des is like, oh, my God. Tweaking out.
D
She's sweaty. It's hot in here. Traitor.
C
It's you. Yep.
E
Des would be like, jenny, are you the traitor?
C
And I'd be like, no. We'd start going like this. Like.
E
