Madison Keys
This is the players box.
Jess Pagola
Hi, everyone.
Desiree Krafczyk
Welcome to the players box. I'm Desiree Krafczyk alongside Jenny Brady, Madison Keys, and Jess Pagola. Please remember to give our podcast five stars and subscribe on YouTube. As always, we start with a unforced error of the week. And collectively, our unforced error is that we were supposed to film our live podcast today in Miami at the Miami Open. But sadly, the weather did not hold up and now we are sitting here together filming our episode this week. So, yeah, bummer.
Madison Keys
We were very prepared for a live audience. And now there's just two.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, we have our camera crew.
Madison Keys
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Jenny was dialed into rehearsals, though.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, I was. I was locked in. I was ready. Des and Jess were prepping me, so.
Desiree Krafczyk
And Des is lit right now.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. And we just did a food
Madison Keys
taste
Jenny Brady
test and a froze. A love all taste test. And Des is lit is.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah. You know, I'm a lightweight, so I've had a couple sips. It's right behind us.
Jess Pagola
On an empty stomach.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah. Well, yeah, we did the food. Food portion after, so. But yeah.
Jenny Brady
Okay, so we're all here in Miami, and three out of the four of us live here in Florida. Des, when did you arrive here in Miami?
Desiree Krafczyk
I got here last night around, like, 8pm and I'm actually staying with Jenny for a couple nights. So thanks for hosting me, Jenny.
Jess Pagola
And then you're staying with me, and
Desiree Krafczyk
then I'm staying with Jessica.
Jess Pagola
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
So thanks for housing me. Thanks, guys.
Jess Pagola
You know, anytime. Thank you.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah, it's been nice to be here.
Jenny Brady
What's everyone's favorite things about the Miami Open? Maddie, would you like to start?
Madison Keys
I mean, the food was really good, so the rose or froze, also very good. Um, I think for me, I've always loved the Miami Open. It was the tournament that I grew up driving to. I lived in Boca, so I vividly remember being 10, 11 and driving down. It was one of the first tournaments I ever played as a professional. So I've just always loved coming to this tournament. It's always kind of been my home tournament. Um, and I've just always kind of had a lot of very fond memories of Miami Open. Jess.
Jess Pagola
Well, I get to stay home, so that's always my favorite part. Um, yeah, I think I like the conditions. Always plays like a little bit faster. I'm used to training down here. It kind of feels like I'm just in my backyard. A lot of humidity, which I know some of the players hate, but I know, well, Des probably still hates it, but I know Jenny and Maddie love it. I love just getting a nice sweat and just like kind of dying out there.
Sponsor Voice
It's.
Jess Pagola
There's something about it for Floridians that we, like, embrace it.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
So I kind of love that aspect that everyone is kind of melting down and we're just like, yes, let's make it more human. So, yeah, I just like staying home. I like the conditions. And any tournament in the US is always like, probably one of my favorites.
Desiree Krafczyk
Coming from my home tournament in Uels here, it's kind of tough, but we love Miami. But I mean, like they said, it's the humidity here is a little bit different to the dry heat in Indian Wells. I do enjoy coming here. I actually feel like I get to spend more time and it feels at home if. When I'm staying with a friend. So that's been really nice as well for me.
Jenny Brady
Obviously, like I said, three out of the four of us are from Florida. So I actually stay at home as well and, you know, make the commute, 45 minute drive. It's really easy, you know, get to sleep in my own bed, which is really nice. And yeah, it's been, you know, a tournament that I've come to a lot. Actually started in Key Biscayne and I would stay in a hotel for that one because it was a bit longer of a drive. So it's nice that it moved here to the Hard Rock Stadium and I get to sleep in my own bed.
Jess Pagola
So.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. Does anyone have a celeb sighting that they've seen at the Miami Open? Anyone? Cool.
Jess Pagola
Bon Jovi. Last year or the year before? I think he was here.
Desiree Krafczyk
He was here watching matches.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, right. Did I make that up or he was here? I feel like I think he was here.
Desiree Krafczyk
Isn't he a fan of like Casper or isn't there?
Jess Pagola
He was definitely here because Coco didn't
Sponsor Voice
know who it was. Oh.
Jess Pagola
And Then we had this whole, like, conversation about Bon Jovi. Yeah, that's. I remember. So, I mean, that was pretty cool. He's pretty famous. Yeah. I don't know.
Desiree Krafczyk
Living on a prayer.
Madison Keys
Jimmy always came around. Jimmy Butler. He. His coffee.
Jess Pagola
Big face.
Madison Keys
Big face. They collabed a couple of years ago here, and he's a huge tennis fan. So we did, like, a coffee lesson one day with Jimmy a couple years ago, So I think that's maybe one of the only celebrities I've ever noticed here.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Jenny Brady
Were you giving Jimmy the coffee lesson or.
Madison Keys
We were kind of all. We were all early in our latte art journey, so we were kind of all trying to figure it out. I don't think any of us were fantastic at it, but hopefully. Hopefully Jimmy is improved.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. And.
Jenny Brady
Well, I know you have.
Madison Keys
Thank you.
Desiree Krafczyk
That was.
Madison Keys
I was fishing for a compliment. We've seen it.
Jenny Brady
I've seen it live. I've seen it live. I've drank it. Yeah. So you've definitely improved. But. Well, for me, I think the last time I played was during COVID so there were no celebs sightings. Just yourself, just, you know, the MD bleachers. Does anyone have their best memory or something that they remember from being here at the Miami Open?
Jess Pagola
J. I would say I made finals last year of singles, so that's obviously a good memory. And then I think when Coco and I won the doubles was pretty fun. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
I haven't really done well in Miami, so let's just hope my memories are better this year. But off court's always fun. It's always so nice to be out in Miami. And, yeah, like I said, being with friends and hanging out.
Madison Keys
So, Ronnie, I would say just being, like, 14 or 15 and getting a wild card and being able to play and getting to play the tournament that I had been watching and be around all of the tennis players that I was, like, running around, like, pointing at and being like, oh, my God, I can't believe I'm looking at them. Being able to be amongst them, I think, was the coolest experience for me.
Jenny Brady
I think I'm with DEZ on this one. It hasn't been my best tournament. Obviously. I love it because it's in Florida. I love the conditions. You know, just being home in Florida is so easy. The food scene here is really good. So, yeah, I guess that's maybe a good memory. Maybe some. Some night out, Some nights out. Maybe those are some good memories.
Desiree Krafczyk
But, yeah,
Jess Pagola
Luxury bedding is one of
Sponsor Voice
those things you don't fully appreciate. Until you sleep on it. That was my experience with quints. The softness, the weight, the quality of materials. You notice it immediately and then more with every night. European linen that gets softer with every wash. Organic cotton sheets. Breathable bamboo that stays cool all night. Plus premium quilts, comforters and duvet inserts. Everything you need to build a bed that feels finished and feels amazing.
Desiree Krafczyk
The best part? Like Quince's clothing, their bedding is half the cost of similar brands. By partnering with top artisans, Quince cuts out the cost of the middleman and passes the savings on to us. They only work with factories that use safe, ethical, responsible manufacturing practices and premium fabrics and finishes.
Madison Keys
I have the European linen duvet set and I thought my bedding was soft until I tried Quince. The difference is unreal. They're so soft that my morning alarm has become even harder.
Jenny Brady

Jenny Brady
That's my attention span. Perfect.
Desiree Krafczyk
Okay, wait, what did you guys end up ordering? Because I went heavy on the high protein.
Madison Keys
Of course you did. I tried the garlic herb salmon and it was unreal. Roasted veggies, healthy fats, actually filling and no refined sugars or weird artificial stuff.
Jenny Brady
That's my thing. No refined seed oils, no artificial sweeteners. It feels clean but still tastes good. I did some calorie smart meals and one of The Mediterranean ones. Zero regrets.

Desiree Krafczyk
It just makes eating well feel doable.

Desiree Krafczyk
Maddie, when you were younger, when you got the wild cards, were you like excited to play at your home tournament because like obviously you're so young getting the wild cards or were you like, oh my God, I'm playing in front of like all these people that I
Madison Keys
think I was just really excited. I don't remember being super nervous. I think also that's the beauty of being like a 14 or 15 year old. You kind of just have like no idea what's going on. So you're just like, oh, this is amazing. I do remember like losing some heartbreakers and just being so distraught. But I think it was more so just being so jazzed that I was able to actually be playing the tournament.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah, for sure.
Jess Pagola
Nice.
Madison Keys
So we are finishing up Indian Wells. We don't have any winners as of right now as we're filming, but we do have some tennis headlines from the last week. First of all, the hindrance call.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yes.
Madison Keys
There were two. There was the Medvedev Draper call, and then there was also Rinder Nechai, Rinderknish and Djokovic. What do we think of the calls? Just. Do you want to chime in first? Okay.
Desiree Krafczyk
What was the render deck? Render connect.
Jess Pagola
I think what happened there. Sissy pass had like, a sitter overhead. And he missed it, right? Yeah, he missed it. And render catch went like. Like this with his racket. He did, like, a lasso thing. And then Novak just started laughing, was like, no, no, no. What are you doing? Yeah. And the doubles, and they ended up Rennerkinek and Vachero ended up winning. But, yeah, it was just so that happened pre Draper Medvedev. And then I think Medvedev got the idea from Nova. Did I make that up or he saw Novak do that?
Jenny Brady
I. I assumed what you're assuming.
Jess Pagola
I thought I saw a comment that he.
Madison Keys
Maybe we're putting words in Medi's mouth.
Jess Pagola
I don't know. So I don't know. Everyone saw the Draper Medvedev. Probably. Yes. If you're listening, just go and watch it. Jack thought the ball looked out. It did actually look very out.
Desiree Krafczyk
He threw his hands off a little bit and was like, oh, in the middle of the.
Jess Pagola
And then the point carried on, though, for, like, five more shots.
Madison Keys
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
And Jack won the point. And Danielle was like, there was a hindrance.
Desiree Krafczyk
And let's do a replay.
Jess Pagola
I want to let you replay. And then the umpire ultimately made the decision that it was a hindrance and Jack actually lost the point. I believe it was five all love 15.
Madison Keys
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
On Jack serves. It was a massive point.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. In the second. I mean, obviously, I. It's a new rule that's changed this year. I think it's kind of stupid, I think, about to go back and challenge something that already happened.
Desiree Krafczyk
You can also win.
Jess Pagola
I like it. For lets. I like or not for. Let's. Sorry. For, like, double bounces. I think that is okay because obviously if it was a double bounce, you won the point. That's fair.
Madison Keys
Or a double hit.
Jess Pagola
Yes.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
But for hindrance, it is a little weird that you can literally lose the point, like, five, six shots later and go back. I don't blame Danil. Like, I just think it's a bad rule. I don't think he meant to really, like, cheat the system.
Desiree Krafczyk
I Mean, I think he was taking advantage of it. He was using it because it's there.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. And if you go back, the conversation was really weird. She was like, well, do you want a challenge? And he was kind of like, well, I guess, like, if we have the challenge, I might as well challenge. And then she ultimately made the decision. I just don't think it was a great call.
Madison Keys
Yeah. I don't have an issue. I actually don't have an issue with the rule because I think now that. Now that it's electronic line calling to get yourself to stop a point is like, no one does it anymore. So I do like that you can do the video review after. I think the chair made a bad call. Personally, I thought Jack made a really good point that if it was hindrance, then I think he would have understood if Daniil had missed the ball after Jack made the gesture. But he hit like, three more balls. It was like, clearly, I didn't hinder. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
And Jack said that he was like, well, it didn't really hinder you because you kept playing the next few point, like the few balls. So he was kind of like, I don't think it distracted you that much, honestly. But it's also not your fault. It's the chair's call. So that's what Jack said. But it is. Yeah, it's tough.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. But I also saw Danielle was like, yeah, it didn't technically, like, hinder me on that shot. Like, I didn't miss the shot, but maybe I could have hit the forehand a little bit better. Yes.
Madison Keys
Yeah.
Jenny Brady
Which I totally get, too. Like, because he kind of stopped.
Jess Pagola
Yeah.
Jenny Brady
And then he was.
Jess Pagola
We've all had that moment where you both look at each other and you kind of stop.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. It happens at least every match.
Desiree Krafczyk
Like, I mean, I've done it.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. Where the opponent, like, does some sort of thing and then you both kind of like lock eyes and you're like, wait, was the ball in or out?
Jess Pagola
And then you just keep playing.
Jenny Brady
And then when it's over, it's over. Yeah, it's like. But yeah, so.
Desiree Krafczyk
So that's also happened, like when we're playing when I've played doubles and we think it's a let chord, and we're all kind of like, everyone freezes and they're like, wait. So you just keep playing. Because obviously it's not a let. But you can also, I guess, video review that, right? In a way.
Jenny Brady
Or not.
Madison Keys
I don't think they have video review for let.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah, well, I guess not. But I Hate. But I feel like, what if everyone stops them of a point and everyone's
Jess Pagola
like, well, I think it just goes to what happens in the point. Unless the umpire calls lead. It's not. Yeah, I don't think you can reveal that.
Jenny Brady
No, that's true.
Madison Keys
I think that the interesting thing moving forward is will we have to create another rule? Because now anytime you lose the point, you're going to be like, hindrance.
Jess Pagola
There was a hindrance happening, so. And I don't know if you guys saw this, but I kind of have a theory. After the point ended, I think Jack, like, walked up to the chair because I think he was going to question how that ball wasn't called. Like, he was questioning the line calling system because it looked like very far out. And I wonder if he didn't actually question that, if he just would have went to the back. I don't know if Danil was going to say anything because when he went up then Danil kind of walked up and was like. But I mean, like, what's going on? Like, you went like this. Yeah.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
I almost wonder if he would have just, like, played it off and walked to the back if Danil would have just been like, whatever.
Madison Keys
Good theory.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, he kind of made it. He kind of made it like a thing.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
I don't know.
Madison Keys
Well, speaking of Jack, he added guts in the main of his racket for strings to help with his shoulder injury.
Jenny Brady
Um.
Jess Pagola
Good luck. I tried that. I was having major PTSD watching him. Yeah, I tried that in Cincinnati last year.
Madison Keys
Jess was crashing out when she tried to gut.
Jess Pagola
Oh, sorry. Montreal.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, Montreal.
Jess Pagola
Montreal.
Desiree Krafczyk
Remember when I told you I was trying gut for my. I. I tried gut for when I had an elbow issue, and I changed a lot of things, but I was like, I need to change it to gut because it's going to be better. Obviously, trying gut in 120 degrees in Arizona probably wasn't the smartest thing to do.
Jess Pagola
Like the mains.
Madison Keys
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
And like, five days before the. I think it was Montreal or Toronto
Madison Keys
a few years back.
Desiree Krafczyk
And I was like, I am not playing with this string. So I switched back. I was like, I can't do it. It's just flying.
Jess Pagola
So, yeah, had a meltdown about mine.
Madison Keys
So I actually used to have gut in the cross, and I played with that for the longest time, but I used an 1820 string pattern and I had gut in the cross for my wrist. And then I changed my string pattern to a 1619 and went all, what Is it? I went all Lux. I went all poly.
Jess Pagola
Yeah.
Madison Keys
And I thought I was going to like freak out because I didn't think the ball was gonna go anywhere. But I also lost like three extra strings so it didn't make that big of a difference. Can't imagine adding gut back in. I also did drop my tension a lot when I got rid of the gut. I used to string the gut at like.
Jess Pagola
Oh, I was at 68.
Madison Keys
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
And my shoulder was about to fall off.
Desiree Krafczyk
Mine was at 56. And I was like, this is not helping me.
Jess Pagola
No. I was literally like, no. It was like. I don't know what happened. I was just. Clearly I was not meant to play
Madison Keys
with gut crashing out.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. No. But that was. No, not 68 last year. This was 68. Like when I used to. I used to play with it in the mains a long time ago with RPM blast in the cross and I was stringing it so tight cuz I couldn't control it that my shoulder was hurting. So now I was with Jesse Levine. He's like, why are you playing with this? This is stupid. And he put me in all aloo power Lux. And it's been just great ever since. So I. Until I went to Montreal and I tried to switch back. I think I practiced in uma. I was like, do you feel like I'm playing okay? I was like, I. I kept asking you like for reassurance which is not a good sign. So. Yeah. It's tough life. The gut life. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Madison Keys
Have you ever used gut?
Jenny Brady
I've never tried it. I'm kind of tempted. I need a mini crash out.
Jess Pagola
It is really good on the arm though. That is why people use it. Because it feels great.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Unless you're stringing 68.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Madison Keys
Another big talking point from last week was the. The crowds on Stadium 2.
Desiree Krafczyk
What crowd?
Madison Keys
Exactly.
Jenny Brady
There you go.
Madison Keys
That was a good one.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah, that was.
Madison Keys
It's the FR in me.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. It's just quick.
Madison Keys
Yeah. Well, I think the tournament is. It kind of explained the situation or. So we know what happened.
Desiree Krafczyk
So did it used to be where grounds passes get you up into Stadium 2? Then they wanted to basically use those just for solely tickets for. Just for stadium too. But I think who. Who played on stadium to Jenny. Yeah. Okay. You guys all played. So I remember when I was playing my doubles match, Jenny, you were on the same time.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
And I got off court and there was literally no one there.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, there was no one. I was like so pumped. I was like, oh, 6pm and I came and I had my headphones on and I was like, oh, I don't want the crowd.
Madison Keys
I don't want the crowd to psych me out. And then I walk out and I'm like, crickets. Wait, where is everyone?
Desiree Krafczyk
They're at my Court 7 match.
Jenny Brady
I was like, damn, they're out there watching Des's doubles. Yeah, there were literally like maybe a handful of people out there.
Desiree Krafczyk
Was it same for you guys as well, Jess?
Jess Pagola
Mine was full, but I was kind of during the day. Second match maybe so. Or first or second.
Madison Keys
I don't totally know how it worked, but I think it was. I don't know if they did separate ticket sales on Stadium 2 for morning and night sessions because the day sessions always had decent crowds. Not incredible, but it was pretty full. And then the night matches were empty,
Jess Pagola
like semis and stuff.
Madison Keys
I mean, it's empty the whole time. So I don't know if they were. If it was just like a one package deal. And then obviously people are sitting there all day long, like, you don't only want to be on court too all day long. So I feel like maybe that was what happened. The tournament did say they're going to look into it so that Jenny can
Jenny Brady
walk out with my headphones blaring. So next year when I go on Stadium 2, if I get the chance to play there again, my headphones are going to be all the way up. I'm going to get the noise canceling noise. No noise notifications. Your eardrums are going to blow.
Jess Pagola
Because that chord's great to play on when it's full.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. It's such a good court. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
They got Nobu out there on the top watching, so hopefully they change that.
Jenny Brady
Yes. Yeah.
Madison Keys
Another thing from Indian Wells is the golf. Oh, everyone loves to golf at Indian Wells. Well, of the four of us, one of us loves to go. Me at Indian Wells for the three of us. Do you love golf? Have any interest?
Jenny Brady
I've played it a few times. I've. I actually have played one year at Indian Wells. I played nine holes and then after that I was like, oof. I don't know how I can do 18. Most of the time I spent looking for my ball, so maybe that's why. But I've played a couple courses, but I've never, like, practiced or. I was gonna say trained, but I don't know if you train for gold, but I've never really practiced. So if I get a little bit of practice in, I think I would enjoy it. But there's just, like, something addictive about when you hit a clean shot that
Jess Pagola
you're like, oh, coming back. You're, like, so good.
Jenny Brady
Oh, my gosh. I wouldn't be the driver for the next hole. And then you shank it in the trees, and you're like, this board sucks. So it's a lot about patience, but I, like. I enjoy watching golf. I always watch golf.
Madison Keys
Golf, Jess.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah. You love golfing at any wells.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, I. It's always. The courses are amazing, and the weather is always so nice. So it's just like, perfect golfing weather. A lot better down, like, than here in Florida because it's so hot and humid that you're just, like, kind of dying outside. Especially if you play 18, which is, like, maybe four hours tough. So I did go golf one morning. I played, like, 12 holes, and it was really, really nice. Yeah, it's relaxing, but I understand, like, if you don't play that much, it's frustrating to play. And I have days where I'm like, wow. I'm, like, really good. And then I have days where I'm so bad. So, so bad. But all the guys love it. Casper was just talking to me about, like, when he likes to go golfing. Like, usually likes to hit in the morning and then golf in the afternoon. And he's got his places that he likes to play. And I saw, like, Zverev and Carl. I think Carlos golf's a lot now, too. Novak went golfing with them, apparently. Yeah, it is. It's everyone's personality.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
My coach literally went golfing, like, and was thriving.
Jess Pagola
But, I mean, we practice in the
Desiree Krafczyk
morning, and then he goes and golf. So I just go and chill. But I did not. I'm not a big golfer. I enjoy watching it. I enjoy hitting a driver. My short game is awful.
Madison Keys
I have only golfed at Drive Shack, and I actually. I can only hit the ball with a driver.
Jess Pagola
Oh, see?
Desiree Krafczyk
Same.
Madison Keys
Yeah. I can hit it very far. We don't know where it's going.
Desiree Krafczyk
But I hit a backhand.
Jess Pagola
Are you lefty or righty?
Desiree Krafczyk
Like, do you hit your backhand?
Madison Keys
No, I think I'm a righty. I think I golf righty. But I also have a theory. I can't hit on the ground level,
Desiree Krafczyk
so you have to be on the
Madison Keys
T. I have to be elevated.
Jess Pagola
So it's like, top golf. Yeah, it's okay.
Madison Keys
Top golf. Yeah.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
So level three.
Madison Keys
Yeah. I can't be on the ground level. No. I have to have some leverage, some height and elevation in Order to get the ball to go anywhere interesting. Yeah, don't know why. Otherwise it just hooks in every direction and straight down in front of me. If you guys are ever really bored, just make me try to hit a golf ball. Any other stories from Indian Wells this year? Does anyone have any. Anything fun and exciting that you didn't update the group chat on?
Desiree Krafczyk
Did anyone use their Nobu gift card?
Madison Keys
I did not.
Jess Pagola
I did justice. I used two gift cards. Oh, yeah. I went twice.
Madison Keys
Oh, wow.
Jess Pagola
Where'd you get the second one from? So I write tons.
Desiree Krafczyk
Oh, I went. I went twice.
Madison Keys
Have you heard the rumor that there's like a private Nobu under stadium one for the players? Like people think that. Oh, there's like a private one.
Jess Pagola
Yeah.
Madison Keys
It's not real.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah, because I haven't. I haven't been there.
Jenny Brady
That does not exist. No, otherwise it probably would have gone.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah, I mean, it would make sense
Jess Pagola
because you in that little like building that's like right below dining or. No, in stadium.
Madison Keys
You're saying in the city it's like allegedly people are saying that there's like a private one under the stadium.
Jess Pagola
Yeah.
Madison Keys
No, definitely not. Only in stadium too.
Jess Pagola
Moving on. Miami is known for beaches, nightlife, great restaurants. So we'll ask a couple Miami. Miami Vice type questions. Dj, you think on tour?
Jenny Brady
Well, it's definitely not me. Unless they like 30 second plethora of songs within three minutes.
Jess Pagola
Oh, I was gonna say. Yeah, like 10 seconds of each song. Yeah. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Next.
Jess Pagola
Definitely not you.
Desiree Krafczyk
Next.
Jess Pagola
I was thinking of Cara.
Jenny Brady
Just because I was just about to
Jess Pagola
say it's fresh in my mind. Caroline Doha.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, she's on SoundCloud.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, she's on.
Jenny Brady
She always sends me songs.
Jess Pagola
Great playlist.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, she would be a good one. She loves the vibes.
Jess Pagola
Loves it. It's a good one. What about clubbing stories? Jenny, you just said you nights out.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, through my little phase, I ended up one time here I was out and it was like maybe 2 or 3am and then I ended up at this place called Club Space. And I like a wide variety of music, but the only type of music I don't like is house music. And club space is solely house. It's the whole time. And I'm like, I. It was like maybe 6am and apparently this is when this place is like bumping like 6:00am yeah. So we.
Desiree Krafczyk
Gosh, when?
Jess Pagola
At 6:00am?
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Out that late?
Jess Pagola
Who are you?
Jenny Brady
Jennifer.
Jess Pagola
Who was this girl?
Jenny Brady
Yeah, she's gone. This was. Yeah. Now 6:00am yeah, I'm like, I already got 10 hours of sleeping. But, yeah, club space in Miami. I had to pay, like, 60 bucks just to get in.
Desiree Krafczyk
Oh, my God.
Jess Pagola
And you're a girl, too.
Madison Keys
What?
Desiree Krafczyk
I was like, you get your mini scared on or what?
Jenny Brady
Yeah. And. And then I was only there for a little bit, and then I was like, I can't do this. So then I left, and I was like, I want my money back.
Madison Keys
Security.
Jenny Brady
But, yeah, I had a little bit of fun in Miami. Like I said, I never really played well here, so that's why.
Desiree Krafczyk
But she clubs.
Jenny Brady
Well, yeah. It was always after, never before. And I would stay downtown sometimes.
Madison Keys
So.
Jess Pagola
Anyone been to live? I've been once.
Jenny Brady
No, I wanted to go.
Jess Pagola
I've been once with Kendall Jenner.
Madison Keys
Oh, that's weird. Wow.
Jenny Brady
Wait, you went.
Desiree Krafczyk
I think I saw that picture.
Jess Pagola
I got invited. Dave Grutman.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yes.
Jess Pagola
He was like, hey, you should come to, like, Kendall's new Tequila launch. And, like, I never go to Miami. So I went with Kelly. My little sister.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
818. And it ended up being this really, like, intimate dinner. Like, she was sitting right there. I was like, dave, I thought this was, like, a party. Like, why am I sitting diagonal from Kendall Jenner? Like, this is so weird. Like, Kelly and I felt like, like, who are we? And then they went and launched it at Liv. I'd never been Kelly. My sister said she's been a few times. And so they, like, snuck us in through the back, and we were there for, like, literally 10 minutes. And they stayed because they did this whole launch thing, and I was like, I need to get out of here. And we left, and we actually were gonna stay downtown Miami, and we just drove home because we were like, let's just go home.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Have you been out at all?
Madison Keys
I've never been out in Miami.
Desiree Krafczyk
Neither have I. I've only been to, like, those, like, really nice restaurants that we get. Like, is it Gecko? And there's an Italian place. There's also Komodo.
Jenny Brady
Oh, they, like, turn in, and they
Desiree Krafczyk
turn into a club, and it's actually a really nice vibe, but you just. If you want to, like, have a conversation with a bunch of people, it's really hard to. Yeah, because you're, like, yelling across the screen.
Jess Pagola
Circular table. But has anyone gone to Ultra?
Madison Keys
No.
Jenny Brady
No, not my seat.
Jess Pagola
I went for half a day.
Desiree Krafczyk
Does it count, like, listening from your hotel room?
Jenny Brady
Yeah, I could see it. I could see the stage from my hotel room.
Jess Pagola
One year, I. I went for half a day one time a while ago, and it's just like it was too much because you really have to be like, on drugs.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
And I was not on any drugs. But unbelievable. People watching. I like, like crazy.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah. So from my window you can see like a sliver of like, the stage. And I was like, trying to listen to. I think it was chain smokers performing that year. And I was like, okay, they're going on at 10. Like, let me listen in. I'm just like, like zooming in on
Madison Keys
my phone and I'm like, something just like.
Desiree Krafczyk
I was just like jamming.
Madison Keys
BEAT DROPS like, obviously you can't sleep
Desiree Krafczyk
because it's blaring from, like, you can hear it from the hotel. So, like, I might as well just enjoy it. And then I never stayed there again.
Jess Pagola
I mean, it goes on during what, the second weekend in Miami?
Madison Keys
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Like, not this weekend, the next weekend? No. Or this weekend.
Madison Keys
I think it's this weekend.
Jess Pagola
This coming weekend. So it's usually later. Yeah. It's usually chaos.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Does anyone like to lay in the sun?
Desiree Krafczyk
No.
Jess Pagola
Go to the ocean.
Jenny Brady
I hate the beach. It's just the sand. It gets everywhere.
Madison Keys
I'm kind of with you. Hot takes, hot.
Jess Pagola
Take the beach.
Desiree Krafczyk
I think I said this where I love sitting by the pool, underneath the little, like, umbrella. Looking at the beach, looking at the sand. That's the. That's my vibe.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Madison Keys
I like an umbrella. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
See, with a cocktail with the froze pool.
Madison Keys
Beach in the distance. Sunscreen covered. Covered.
Jess Pagola
So not laying in the sun. No, no beach. Would you rather stay out till 4am or run midday in the hottest part of the day or like, highest humidity? What would you choose?
Desiree Krafczyk
You said run.
Jess Pagola
Run.
Madison Keys
Oh, or stay out until 4am Run. How long do I have to.
Desiree Krafczyk
How long's the running?
Jess Pagola
I'll say a mile.
Desiree Krafczyk
Oh, I would rather run.
Madison Keys
Run.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Well, or like an hour.
Jenny Brady
Young Jenny would say stale till 4am but now Jenny would say run. Hottest run.
Desiree Krafczyk
Far from it.
Jenny Brady
Like. Yeah, 100 humidity. 100 degrees? Yes. Yeah. Run, run away.
Desiree Krafczyk
You didn't really specify, like, how fast, so it could have been like a
Jess Pagola
really, like an hour, like, workout maybe.
Jenny Brady
Oh, oh, our run.
Jess Pagola
Our workout. I don't know. I'm making this up.
Madison Keys
I was going to say then one mile is like eight and a half.
Jess Pagola
Okay. Our workout. Or stay up till 4am if that's the case.
Desiree Krafczyk
Oh, an hour workout. Not a run.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, just like a workout, but in the hottest part of the day.
Madison Keys
That's fine. We play tennis.
Jess Pagola
That's true.
Desiree Krafczyk
That's perfect.
Jenny Brady
What about cardio?
Desiree Krafczyk
Pilates, 1000%.
Jess Pagola
Beach or Brickell Beach. Wow.
Madison Keys
Brickell is too chaotic.
Jenny Brady
I think Beach.
Jess Pagola
I would go Brickle if I didn't have to drive. Like if I'm just walking and staying in Brickell. I don't mind Brickell Fair.
Jenny Brady
There's just a lot of people.
Jess Pagola
Traffic situations, rough.
Jenny Brady
There's also a lot of people.
Desiree Krafczyk
I had a couple drinks to me.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Brickle. Brickle sounds nice.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Good shopping.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Are we gonna try. Oh, the caviar hot dog? We actually didn't.
Jenny Brady
No, we didn't try that, but we tried.
Jess Pagola
I kind of answered my own question
Madison Keys
there, but I'm against hot dogs. I've told everyone here.
Jess Pagola
I actually love. Oh, I told everybody I love hot dogs. I didn't really. I wasn't like itching to try the caviar like a Costco hot dog. Like those $50 ones or like baseball game hot dog. Oh, yeah. With a beer. So good.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
But it's pretty good, so. No, and we just tried. Obviously we already said we tried all this. A bunch of different types of food on site. And we tried the Love all. Love all. Thank you for that rose cocktail because it's spelled differently in our notes. What did you call it? 40.
Desiree Krafczyk
I said 40.
Madison Keys
Love or all four? All four.
Desiree Krafczyk
All this is pre drinking it.
Jess Pagola
That was actually pretty good. So everyone should go out and try some of the stuff on site. We were just saying for a sporting event, it's actually. It was solid.
Desiree Krafczyk
It was really good food.
Jess Pagola
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Jenny Brady
Okay. Well, thanks for that, Jessica.

Having a skincare routine can be hard. With how much stress we put our skin under and with how much we travel. I don't want to bring a full medicine cabinet with me.
Desiree Krafczyk
One of my favorites is the One Skin peptide eye cream. I use a pea sized amount, tap it around my eye and it melts into my skin skin with no greasy finish. It's peptide packed, so it helps smooth fine lines and calms puffiness. And my concealer sits so much better.
Sponsor Voice
After I started using the OS1 face serum and love how it's replaced multiple steps and simplified everything, my skin texture feels really good. And I especially love how it absorbs. It just sinks in without feeling heavy. I'm someone who actually looks into how skincare ingredients work and how they interact. So learning that their peptide targets senescent cells, one of the drivers behind wrinkles and loss of elasticity, made it feel less like hype and more like legitimate research.
Desiree Krafczyk
Being in the sun as much as we are, I'm trying to be proactive about my skin aging and this has honestly become the workhorse step of my routine. It's simple, effective and grounded in science.
Jenny Brady
Born from over a decade of longevity research, One Skin's OS1 peptide is proven to target the visible signs of aging, helping you unlock your healthiest skin now and as you age. Let's move on to some fan questions from Francis. What is the most random or most memorable thing you've ever been asked to sign? Dez?
Desiree Krafczyk
I guess a picture of myself.
Jess Pagola
I don't know.
Desiree Krafczyk
Nothing very memorable.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, I said my wedding picture.
Desiree Krafczyk
Wait, whoa.
Jess Pagola
Someone printed out.
Madison Keys
That's creepy.
Jess Pagola
My. The wedding picture. Me and my husband and had me sign it.
Desiree Krafczyk
That's memorable.
Jess Pagola
It was.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. First thing you think of. Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. That was crazy. That was the crazy thing. I signed.
Desiree Krafczyk
No, that. I mean, I signed someone's form. That was weird. But yeah.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Madison Keys
Someone asked me to sign up their baby one time.
Desiree Krafczyk
Where did you sign it?
Madison Keys
Like they, they were like, here, sign on their leg. And I was like, I don't want to put Sharpie on your child's skin. They're like, no, no, it's fine. And I was like, I'd really rather not.
Jess Pagola
So you didn't sign it?
Madison Keys
No I'm not gonna sign a baby
Jess Pagola
right on the forehead.
Madison Keys
I have had. I have had kids ask me, like, will you sign my forehead and stuff? And I've always asked, is your mom okay? Yeah.
Sponsor Voice
That's a great.
Madison Keys
That's such a great answer.
Desiree Krafczyk
Great follow up, Jenny.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, body part.
Jess Pagola
Which one?
Jenny Brady
I don't know. Yeah, like arm, face. A girl had me sign her really nice water bottle last week and I was like, are you sure? Because it was a really nice one.
Jess Pagola
Like, what kind? Like a water drop.
Jenny Brady
I don't know. It was. I don't know the brand, but it was like a really nice reusable bottle. Like, I was like, this is a nice bottle. Like, are you sure you want my signature on there? She said, yeah, so I signed it. Next question from Matt. This is a mouthful.
Jess Pagola
Holy.
Jenny Brady
When you are serving and you hit a let, but for some reason the same service ball comes back to you, do you ever take that ball and just serve it again or do you give it back to the ball? Boys slash girls and take a new one. I ask because from my perspective as a fan, it seems like whenever a player does this, they often hit another fault because they are not resetting. And I often want to shout out, don't do it.
Desiree Krafczyk
Thank you for that, Jennifer.
Jess Pagola
I don't think she's done.
Jenny Brady
No, that's a good question. Actually, Matt, I've thought the same thing. So I get it. I contempl it. If I hit a let and I get the ball back, am I going to hit another let or am I going to miss the serve? Yeah,
Jess Pagola
that's it.
Jenny Brady
I don't know. Sometimes, yeah, I do contemplate that. But some. But sometimes I do want the ball back. Like, I like that ball.
Jess Pagola
So give it back.
Madison Keys
Yeah, like, what if it's. What if you're serving and it's like game eight and it's a first serve and it's the freshest ball.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, I want. Yeah, I want it.
Madison Keys
You want that ball back?
Jenny Brady
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
But there's five other ones.
Madison Keys
Yeah, but what if those ones are all big and fluffy and you want, you want the freshest ball for serve?
Jess Pagola
Yeah, that's when I would reuse it. I actually think I reused one last match.
Desiree Krafczyk
I usually don't. If I hit a let, I will switch it out, but then I probably end up picking the same one.
Jenny Brady
Wait, how?
Desiree Krafczyk
Because you can just tell, like if it's not as fresh and if you have like your stencil on it.
Madison Keys
No, if you have your sense on it stencil.
Desiree Krafczyk
Stencil, Sorry.
Jess Pagola
Like a fresh. I thought you said scent. I was like, you smell that? You touch the ball like you're perfume.
Jenny Brady
I don't have dental.
Madison Keys
I don't think you're understanding the question.
Jenny Brady
Maybe not you hit a let or a fault, but the. For some reason the ball comes back. So like a. The girl returns the ball back to you and then you catch it. Do you. No, I don't serve again. Or do you give it to the ball?
Desiree Krafczyk
I switch it out. Yeah.
Jenny Brady
Or girls. You switch it out?
Desiree Krafczyk
I do switch it out.
Jenny Brady
Yes. Sometimes I take it.
Desiree Krafczyk
I've always switched it out.
Jenny Brady
But then I contemplate and then you're
Desiree Krafczyk
like, shoot, I should have taken that.
Jess Pagola
It's a very game time decision.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, it's a game time decision. But I've had the thought, so I appreciate that. He also has had the thought.
Madison Keys
I don't think I've ever thought about it.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, I don't.
Desiree Krafczyk
That's a lot to think about in that.
Jenny Brady
I think I just overthink it.
Desiree Krafczyk
Okay.
Madison Keys
I've got enough other problems on court.
Desiree Krafczyk
I'm just trying to make a serve here at this point.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. I think I'm just.
Jess Pagola
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Maybe I'm thinking too much. Don't think too much this week.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. I'm just gonna go.
Jess Pagola
No. Every time Jenny hits a lead, I'm gonna be like, what is she gonna do?
Jenny Brady
Or is she gonna reset? Last question from Avery. How can you all stay so calm and neutral in frustrating times in matches? And do you have any tips if you are struggling in a match? Maddie, do you have any tips?
Madison Keys
But you went to Maddie first.
Jess Pagola
Yes.
Madison Keys
Maddie, do tell.
Jess Pagola
How did you handle the let cords? Yes,
Madison Keys
I handled it so well. I just, Just, you know, was like, things happen. It's totally fine. Life is not completely against me. I just, I handled. I think I handled it really well and didn't totally spin out about it and think about it for like the next 12 hours as I was laying staring at the ceiling at like 3am handled it super well. I think I just took a deep breath and reset and just bounced right back. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
I mean, it may look like I'm really calm, but I'm probably fuming and I have like steam coming out for me. But yeah, it's. Yeah, I don't really have any tips for you. Sorry.
Madison Keys
The quicker DEZ walks around the course. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Or I get really. Yeah. As they say, I'm really sassy.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
I. I get straight.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
I get strut in there. So I think.
Madison Keys
I think Jess is probably the only one who can actually take this question.
Desiree Krafczyk
You should probably take the tips from Jess.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, I don't know. I just like, just keep going, keep calm and carry on. Keep swimming.
Jenny Brady
Just keep swimming?
Jess Pagola
Yeah, just keep swimming. I just play each, like point by point, I guess.
Desiree Krafczyk
And you're pretty calm person, anyways.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, I think it's just more my personality. I'm. I feel like you guys are more type A than I am. Yeah. Like, all of you are pretty anal about stuff, but throwback to when you
Madison Keys
lost your mind at the US Open and doubles.
Jess Pagola
Oh, yeah. No, I get like, if. So I'm like the type person where if it, like builds up a lot, then I like, explode. And I like, especially. It seems to happen in doubles, I think because I feel some sort of, like, responsibility to, like, my partner that, like, if they're not going to say anything, like, I will fight somebody, like, for my partner. So I think it's a little bit of like a team thing. But, yeah, I cussed at the umpire and then. Well, I don't know if we already talked about this, but it was like the only time ESPN has ever panned to women's doubles at the US Open and they, like, panned live to our match. And it's me going like, you're effing wrong. After everyone's like, wow, I've never seen Jess so mad. I kind of liked it. And I was like, wait, what? And. Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Is it like napkin flu?
Jenny Brady
Okay.
Jess Pagola
And they like split screened like Serena. It's like one of her last matches. Or they thought it was gonna be. Yeah. And it. So it was me and Coco, which I think is why they were showing it. But I was like, seriously? But no, I. I don't know. I think I'm just pretty chill.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Until I'm not.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, until she's not. I don't have any tips for you, Avery.
Desiree Krafczyk
Just take the visor off. Take the visor off?
Jenny Brady
Yeah, take the visor off and reset.
Jess Pagola
We should watch the. That clip of you with the Nottingham or what was it?
Desiree Krafczyk
Oh, if you want tips.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, we need to post that.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, maybe we should.
Jenny Brady
I had a crash out.
Desiree Krafczyk
We can probably just post all our crash outs.
Jess Pagola
Besides.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, we should do a. I was
Madison Keys
about to say instead of. I mean, I feel like we're hijacking Avery's question.
Jess Pagola
Sorry, Avery. Total opposite.
Madison Keys
I feel like it's like the things that come to my brain are like my best crash outs that. Looking back, I'm like, that was so unhinged. I, like, I feel like those are way easier to think about than being like, wow, I stayed so calm.
Jess Pagola
It's kind of. It's kind of more fun to think about in a way. Like, once you're past it.
Jenny Brady
Yeah.
Desiree Krafczyk
Unless you get a fine for it or.
Jenny Brady
I mean, it's. It's not easy to stay calm. Like, things are not going your way. Your palm is playing so good. You're playing so bad. Oh, Jenny, come on. Like, get it together.
Jess Pagola
Jennifer, you're. Wait, Jenny, your last. Your last match, you were playing so well, and whatever. Second set was rough, and I just saw you, like, sitting on the bench and I was like. And I was like, oh, no.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, yeah, I know.
Jess Pagola
Right after crashing out.
Jenny Brady
Yeah, after the. After the match, I was on. On my phone and then I saw your text and it was like, oh, come on, Jenny. Just smile or laugh.
Madison Keys
Just let it out. You know, it's like.
Jenny Brady
Like, I wish I read this during the match.
Jess Pagola
And then.
Jenny Brady
It's not doing me any good now.
Desiree Krafczyk
Remember, I took a picture. I was like, wow, Caroline would be so proud of you because you, like. I took a picture of you like this, sitting there, breathing, closing your eyes and resetting. And I was like, oh, that's Jenny.
Jenny Brady
I don't know if I was recently.
Desiree Krafczyk
Yeah, I don't know about that.
Jess Pagola
Yeah, there was one moment
Madison Keys
where I
Jess Pagola
could just see it in your eyes. I was like, oh, God. Yeah.
Madison Keys
Maybe we all just have really good, like, neutral faces while we're internally, I
Jenny Brady
think, because we're the only ones that know what we're really thinking.
Jess Pagola
Yeah. Yeah, that's true.
Jenny Brady
Yeah. Okay, well, thank you everyone for your fan questions this week and for joining us on our afternoon live pod that was supposed to be live. I hope everyone enjoyed it. Title: Miami Open Memories & Indian Wells Headlines
Hosts: Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, Jennifer Brady, Desirae Krawczyk
Date: March 17, 2026
This episode of The Player’s Box brings listeners behind the scenes at the Miami Open, with the four hosts sharing personal memories, travel chaos, and pop-culture stories. They deep dive into their Miami and Indian Wells experiences—on and off the court—including celeb sightings, infamous rule changes, racquet string drama, and wild nights out. The group also covers recent hot-button tennis headlines and answers quirky fan questions. The tone is candid, playful, and loaded with inside jokes.
Discussion of recent Indian Wells matches with confusing “hindrance” calls:
Pegula: “It’s kind of stupid…to go back and challenge something that already happened.” (15:13)
Keys: “Now that it's electronic line calling…no one does it [stops points] anymore. So I do like video review after.” (15:54)
Krawczyk: “Now anytime you lose the point, you’re going to be like, hindrance.” (17:56)
Brady: “We’ve all had that moment where you both look at each other and you kind of stop.” (17:05)
