Mike Baker
It's Tuesday the 24th of December. Welcome to the President's Daily Brief. I'm Mike Baker, your eyes and ears on the world stage this week. Coming to you from somewhere in the Far East. East Asia actually. My life is essentially one continuous game of Where's Waldo now for hundreds of millions of folks around the world, today is Christmas Eve. But whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I wanted to take the opportunity to wish you all a very happy holiday season. No matter how you celebrate this time of year, I wish you peace and happiness and joy. Let's not. Let's not forget joy. To be fair, the world right now may seem like it's on fire. Conflicts across the globe, human suffering, political turmoil, a lack of civil discourse that at times pits family members against each other. But we've seen worse and we have weathered worse. The primary objective here is to keep things in context. It's important to know what's happening in the world, considering the world seems to be constantly shrinking and we're all more interconnected than ever before. But this time of year, as Christmas and New Year's approach, well, it's a time tailor made for reflection. Take the opportunity this holiday season to reflect on what really matters. Family, friends and and others whom you don't even know. Everything else is, is frankly just a bonus. Take the time to tell the people you care about that, well, that you care about them. Do something selfless for someone else. Volunteer with a church or community group. Get outside your comfort zone and make a difference. As Winston Churchill once said, and you know, I do love to quote Winston Churchill, we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give your individual efforts. They may not solve the world's current conflicts, but they'll make a difference in your part of the world. And frankly, that's a start. I also wanted to take a moment to thank the millions of you who have made the President's Daily Brief a part of your daily routine. We are very grateful for the PDB community and as 2024 comes to a close, we look forward to working hard throughout 2025 to bring you the news with a minimum of punditry and pontification. We'll give you the facts. You decide what to think about them. And that's the President's Daily Brief for Christmas Eve 2024. I'm Mike Baker and I'll be back on the 26th of December. Until then, and from somewhere in East Asia, stay informed. Stay safe. Stay.
