How should the faithful (and even those who are not) respond to what surely appears to be the Pope's support for the soft communism of what is otherwise known as liberation theology and the communal control of all economic resources? Is Pope Leo’s affinity for the Marcusean redistribution of wealth what the church actually teaches? Ep790 Political, social and economic systems often have "canaries in the coal mines", and they come in the form of candidates. On the Democratic side, we have examples such as Graham Platner and James Talarico. On the Republican side, the poster child this year is Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, who just emerged as one of two candidates to advance from the primary to the August runoff for governor. This week's related article: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jun/21/gentner-drummond-would-disaster-oklahoma-governor/ Website: https://dreverettpiper.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dreverettpiper X: https://x.com/dreverettpiper Instagram: https://instagram.com/dreverettpiper
Ep789 What does it mean to be human? Are we the Imago Dei or are we the Imago Dog? Is the individual person made in the image of God or the image of the animal? The question of human identity is perhaps the most important question of our time. Everything we talk about and argue over, whether it be politics, morality, justice, or human rights, rests on how we respond to this one basic question: “Who are we and what does it mean to be human?” Website: https://dreverettpiper.com Sponsor: https://equippingthepersecuted.org Washington Times: https://www.washingtontimes.com/staff/everett-piper/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dreverettpiper Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dreverettpiper
Texas Democrat James Talarico’s list of biblical absurdities continues to grow. Added to his claims that God is “non-binary,” that “the Bible is silent about abortion,” and that there are “six different genders,” we now have his contention that Mary’s consent to the virgin birth is a story about her being “prochoice.” So how should we respond?
This past Tuesday, Cal Thomas wrote an opinion piece for this newspaper titled, “Americans whining over gas prices ignore Iran’s greater threat.” In his article, Thomas argued that our country is presently “plagued by complainers who whine about almost everything” and that “too many [of us] appear oblivious to the threat posed by Iran, preferring cheaper gas” to doing what is necessary to stop this evil regime from killing us.
Of all the trends taking place right now in American politics, the juvenile arrogance of today’s Millennials and Gen Zers must rank near the top of anyone’s list of concerns. Just look at any social media thread on essentially any topic and the proof reveals itself in spades...It doesn’t matter what the topic is, they know more. Suggest that socialism has never worked and never will and their response is, “Okay boomer.” And just pick any topic.
A response to the recent interview with Stephen Colbert, where former President Barack Obama said, “I’m worried about the Republican Party. … I’d love a loyal opposition. I’d love a Republican Party that is conservative in some ways, that didn’t agree with me on a whole bunch of stuff but believed in [the] rule of law, judicial independence and empirical evidence and science. …"
In a recent interview, Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch said that the United States is not a Christian nation but rather one that is "creedal." The fact that one of the supposed “conservative” judges of our nation’s highest court just made such a statement should stun all of us. Why? Because it simply is not true, and anyone with an elementary school understanding of American history should know it.
In his ongoing campaign against American conservatives, Tucker Carlson has repeatedly shown that he doesn’t understand Christianity or the Bible. The most recent example of his ignorance comes from a recent podcast where he said, “One of the reasons that I have a lot of trouble going to church is [because] all these Christian leaders are so flawed…”
This week’s indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for “manufacturing racism to justify its existence” and for “using donor money to profit off Klansmen” should not surprise you. If the SPLC ever was a legitimate humanitarian organization, it ceased being that decades ago.
