I know sometimes he can get a little bit petulant and direct and perhaps flaps his arms around at his own players, but I think he's got. I think he's learned from that, has become a real leader.

Where would Man United be without him? He's been a standout for such a long time now for them, when they haven't been anywhere near standards that they've set over previous years. But he's. He's been the constant, hasn't he, that he's been superb.

Yeah. They wouldn't be in a Champions League place, I guarantee you that, without this season, would they, Micah?

No. He's been probably the most consistent performer, maybe even in the Premier League. I know it's been a little bit easier because it's only one game a week, but when you look at Man United results, or even just the games of it, the highlights, he's always involved in something and he's a heartbeat for that team. And now they got secured Champions League football, he's just been absolutely immense.

Yeah, he's definitely one of the most underrated midfielders that have come to the Premier League. I know. It's because you mentioned before, with all the players coming in from. It was the. The agent, wasn't it Mendes, bringing them all over and sort of got overlooked because. Well, bringing in players just for him. But he was a top player. Top, top player.

Absolutely agree, totally agree. I can understand his frustrations at times, but if he gets them that trophy, then it'd be an unbelievable time as manager at Crystal Palace.

Imagine losing Eze and Gaye, you know, take them two players out of any squad.

[Gary Lineker]

And Alise.

Yeah, yeah, well, Alise, even before we got, say, Zaha, all the players that they produced over the years just produces the recruitment.

Do you think as a coach that you have to understand that that's part of working for Crystal Palace? They're never going to be a club that can, given the size of the ground, etc. They can't really compete with the Giants,

but it just depends what you tell the players. So in terms of the club, the way it's run has been fantastic. But if you just kept a couple of those players together for maybe one more season, the likes of Eze and Gates, they were always going to go. Ben Remar, they were always going to go. There's nothing you can do with that. It's just how they replace them. And I think they've done really well with all the stuff with Mateta and all that sort of stuff. But with all what's gone on behind this, done an amazing job.

I just think that with the situation with. With Cristiano, if Cristiano is happy enough to come off or not start or whatever, and. And they're able to handle that, then I think. Yes, but I think a lot depends on that.

[Alan Shearer]

It depends on how they want to play. I feel the last time I watched Portugal play a lot of square pegs in round holes because of the names, and you're gonna have to sacrifice. And that's not just Ronaldo. If you've got Joao Neves and Matinho in midfield, they have to start and see what they could do for psg. But then you've got the conundrum of Fernandez. Where do you have Fernandez? Fernandez needs time to roam, but he's not disciplined in what he wants to do. But if you've got those three midfielders, you put them up against any midfield in world football, wouldn't you? So it's just about the balance of the team. Individual quality certainly, yes, but balance, I'm not sure yet.

I think they're definitely one of the, I mean, say outsiders, but because they've never won the World Cup. But Portugal. But I think they have to have a slight chance.
