We're going to draft the draft. I can't believe no one's done this before. We're going to draft which draft classes were the best.

That's right. Pretty simple, right? Draft, draft of that. We don't know if no one's ever thought of that, but if you did,

Unbelievable. Yeah. We're going to draft draft words and go through Deaki's draft. Grades are at NFL Draft, the Ringer.com and Craig and I are going to tear them to shreds. But first, couple pieces of news.

First of all, the Steelers have. I can't. I just saw this post from Adam Schefter and I, I, I'm just going to read it for Batum. I don't, I, I had never heard of this. Schefter posted this morning. Sources. The Steelers placed the rare right of first refusal tender on Aaron Rodgers, meaning that he can accept a 10% raise off last year's salary, which would pay him about $15 million this season. As another condition of the tender, Rogers would only be able to sign up the Steelers once training camp begins. End quote.

I didn't know what this was. I've never heard of this before. And so they're basically just saying you can get a 10% raise if you sign with the Steelers and that's it.

[Danny Kelly]

I had never heard of this. Apparently they can do this with any free agent that doesn't sign after the draft. I've never heard of this.

[Danny Heifetz]

Oh, you have to wait until after the draft to do it, apparently.

[Danny Kelly]

I think this is bizarre. I guess what it means in practice is basically they're going to be like, Aaron, you can have a 15% raise or you can retire, or you can go and play for someone else and if you sign a contract elsewhere, we'll match it. It's kind of weird that they had to do this.

[Danny Heifetz]

The key element is it gets him in the building in theory. Right.

[Craig Rolbeck]

Well, is it a 10 or 15%? I thought his tweet says 10.

Oh, yeah, sorry. It's 15 million, but I wrote down 50% raise. It's 10 raised, which is about $50 million.

Okay. Yeah, it's messy. We have Drew Aller, we have Aaron Rodgers, maybe that's kind of. And Will Howard and sorry to do this.

I was, I was instructed to do this by our fans. Not this isn't my choice, but did you realize that the draft Pick that you guys received in exchange for superstar receiver. One of the best receivers in the NFL. Really? George Pickens turned into Drew Aller.

Drew Aller can do things that no other quarterback in this draft can do. Complimentary and derogatory, sure. But Mike McCarthy is somebody who I think can fix him.

You remember that show? I forget what it was called. It was basically, this guy could detect people lying, like, really instinctively and easily.

Oh, lie to me. Yeah. With Mr. The guy who gets the bleeding guy in Reservoir Dogs. What's his name? Tim Ross. Yes.

Yeah, yeah, exactly. He basically is like this genius who can tell when people are lying. Craig, I could tell you were lying right there.

I. I wish we could clip that 10 second sentence Craig just said. He's like, all right, Drew Aller is going to be a great quarterback and Mike McCarthy will fix him and play someone.

Six months ago, Craig starts talking in the most passive voice.

He is someone who I believe could help Drew Aller succeed.

Here's what I'll say.

Here's what I'll say before we move on. I think Drew Aller has the highest ceiling and floor. Sorry, the highest ceiling and the lowest floor of any quarterback taking this draft. And for that, he's telling the truth.

And for that probably accurate, I'm interested.

I. Yeah. If. If Drew Aller learns to read progressions and throw accurate throws, than I actually. No, I actually do agree. Like, he. His pocket management's bizarre. If he learned. If he sat on the bench for two years. Drew Aller in the. If he came out of the. I mean, Justin Herbert, no one knew he could progress as quickly as he could when he came in the NFL.

[Craig Rolbeck]

Yeah. Aller is like a baby deer back there and his feet are all over the place. However, his arm talent is ridiculous and based. Look, I. I'm not going to lie and pretend I watched every Penn State game for the last two years, but from what I've been reading since they've we've have to drawers that like, he's actually not that bad at like, once the ball is snapped. His. His ability to progress and go through three or four wide receivers is not terrible. His footwork is just a mess, but his arm and his ability to. To move through progressions is not bad.

[Danny Kelly]

Yeah.

Yeah. The main. That's the main thing I noticed with him is basically if things are on time and if he plays in rhythm, he's like really exciting. But the problem is when he starts to move around or gets forced off a spot, his footwork mess, it gets all messed up and then he can't. Nobody taught him he can't complete a pass. But that's something that is coachable.

Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy not the worst two people.

Aaron Ro Rogers is going to be so attentive to him during practices.

Speaking of rookie quarterbacks taken. I. I don't know how we're still talking about this same pick, but the Rams. The latest update in the Ty Simpson thing where the Rams took Ty simpson with the 13th pick, and then again, if you missed it, Sean McVay, basically, now the story is that. So Matthew Stafford was so angry at Sean McVay for taking Ty Simpson that Sean McVay decided to act like he wasn't that excited about Ty Simpson, which shockingly, everybody noticed, and then was like, wow, Sean McVay hates Ty Simpson. Which they then had to snip, snap, like, actually, I love Ty Simpson. I'm so excited for ty Simpson. Sean McVay kept saying on the fifth round of the draft live, which was also weird. So now the other. One of the other reasons we were so confused by the Ty Simpson story was in addition to Sean McVeigh acting like he was not into Ty Simpson, Ty Simpson was like, I've never met Sean McVay, which was so weird. He was like, we had a call. And then people were like, well, it's normal. The Rams never meet the prospects. They're like, okay, so apparently Ty Simpson is like, I lied because the Rams told me to lie. I have met Sean McVay.

[Danny Heifetz]

Did you guys see, like, a cheating couple? Sean McVeigh is cheating on Matt Stafford with Ty Simpson. He's sneaking around. They need to get their story straight. They needed to come up with a better plan for this. I feel like they've really botched it. The whole thing is like this massive, massive story. It basically got away from them. It's like the Streisand effect. They tried so hard to make it into nothing that it turned into something way bigger.

Also, like them concocting this very complicated cover up to hide the fact that the Rams are interested in Ty Simpson. Because I guess if Sean McVay. If people find out Sean McVay likes a quarterback, everybody will immediately pounce. Is that right? Like, would Ty Simpson have gone like 8th if people knew that he met with the Rams?

[Danny Kelly]

It's. It's kind of. It's just the whole world is deep. It's important to remember that. And then Daniel Jeremiah goes. It was talking to Greg Rosenthal and Daniel Jeremiah is like, I don't think the Cardinals would have taken Ty Simpson in the second.

All the reporting now, all the reporting now is like, because, because this is the opposite of what usually happens. It's like, take, take Dijon stribling from the 49ers, for instance. Like, we all talked. We all bemoan wide receiver. Sorry, the receiver that the 40 just

refuses to give positions to colleges. He just assumes. Everybody listening is Craig Much tape.

Anyway, basically we all freaked out because he got taken at 33. And then all the reporting is now it's like, oh, well, this team liked him. This team liked him. He's probably going to go off the board. You guys don't know shit. You don't know where he was going to go. Even though the consensus board or whatever, the no one really expected him go nearly that high. It's the opposite with Ty Simpsons. Like now they took ty Simpson at 13. And all the reporting is like, I don't know if any teams liked him. There was some. I think there was some speculation that maybe the Cardinals didn't even have him at the top of their board. Like Carson Beck was their top guy.

I think people want to throw McVan under the bus. I think they're happy to do it. I. I will say though, I think like other teams that are jealous, I will say, I just want to say so.

So what Ty Simpson said after the Rams took him initially was basically that he had only met with some Ram scouts. He had never met Sean McVeigh. Like, he had talked to him on the phone briefly. But the Ram scouts, very brief.

I don't trust any of this thing anymore. You know, what goes all the way to the top.

[Danny Kelly]

These guys get so mad when you don't take them at their word. And then you're like, oh, yeah, right. People are lying constantly. And then you get mad at us. But it's like so Ty Simpson said. Now his update is quote quoting Ty Simpson. We try to keep this under wraps as long as we could. It was something to where I knew they were interested, but I knew they wanted to make it private. Didn't want people to know they were interested. So I had some secret meetings with Coach McVeigh and I was trying to be on script and do what everybody told me and not anybody.

Fucking Joe Montana, like, what are we doing here? He better be incredible.

Dude Stafford and his wife went to Georgia. They're probably very aware of how bad Ty Simpson was. Like, all these guys follow college football too. And it's like Ty Simpson couldn't beat out Jaylen Milro. He played seven good games and he's going to functionally play 15 starts over like a seven year period probably unless he plays. It's so funny.

Like, if this were Washington two years ago with Jayn Daniels or New England with Drake May two years ago, I would get it where you're like, man, these are really hot commodities. We have a very high leverage pick. People could come in ahead of us. I get it. But like ty Simpson at 13, going through this rigmarole is. Is just very puzzling to me. And I guess we have to trust McVay and less need that they know what they know and that this guy's got the goods. But the whole thing is ridiculous.

I think they looked at it this simply. The Falcons pick was a robbery. The Rams getting a Falcons, the 13th overall pick in the draft. It was. I think they looked at it like, it's free. Let's get a quarterback.

I I'm not saying that's the right analysis. I think the Rams looked at it like we kind of stole this pick. Let's just make a court. Let's just get a quarterback and set up the next 10 years, and then we have to worry about this. We don't have to freak out every time Matt Stafford wins his back, whether the season's over.

But it only works if they really, truly believe this guy is solid but great and has the potential to be great.

So that's the question, because I do think the part of this that's getting washed away by all the absolute weirdness with which the Rams handled this is getting a quarterback is smart, man. Like, getting a quarterback when you're not desperate for a quarterback is a good idea. And again, the packers are probably happy they took Jordan Love again. I went on Cigar.

It's kind of like we were all like, the Lions took Jameer Gibbs in the first round, but then they took Brian Branch in the second, and it's like, well, if they dated Brian Branch of Gibbs, nobody said a word I said. So I honestly, the way I. I compared this to on Jackson Bevins's show Cigar Thoughts, which is a great show. And I compared it. Sometimes Jay Bone, you can line up, you have a good process for a shot, and then you screw up the swing. And I think that, like, it's good process to take a quarterback. I think the swing itself, like, the guy, the quarterback, kind of a weird one. Sometimes you skull it and it actually just lands on the green and it's fine. And I think the truth is he's probably going to be the quarterback for the Rams for a decade. Like, they probably made their bet and they're going to roll with it.

Maybe. Maybe. Every time I go watch Ruben Bane line up and rush the passer this year, I'm going to be like, man, imagine if he was on the fucking Rams. Like, what could they be doing right

now if the Ran or Makai Lemon who like Puka's having a complicated off season and Devonte Adams is old and that's all they have. Makai Lemon probably would have helped in this super bowl run in la. And I got to say, I think if the Rams do not win the super bowl, this season will be looked at as a failure because of the Ty Simpson thing. And people are going to convince themselves that if, if they had Ruben Bane or if they had Makai Lemon or they had somebody else, they could have won the Super Bowl.

Yeah, I mean it's hard to disagree. I mean it really reminds me so much of the packers taking Jordan Love because it both worked out and also if they take it a cornerback that year, they might have won a Super bowl there in Rodgers. But also does Aaron Rodgers win two MVPs in a row if they don't take Love? So I don't know. We'll see.

Kind of crazy. Kind of crazy. So let's just go through their draft class real quick here. The real quick.

I know. Well, sorry, I'll go. I'll try to go fast. Basically at the top they played it and. And let's take the name of the team away. Let's take the GM away. Let's take away the fact that he was making prospective head coaches take written oral exams. All that stuff. Written and oral. I guess they're written. Oral would be completely opposite. Anyway, they, they did a really smart thing here. They traded down. They got two extra picks to trade like three spots back with the Chiefs and then they still got the top tackle which was their top ranked guy clearly and probably their top ranked need position. Need. And they got Spencer Fano. I love that pick for them. I think he's going to come in, start for them right away, help to rebuild this offensive line. They got Casey Concepcion with the second of two first round picks and then they came back and got an incredible value with Denzel Boston in the second round. We all thought he was going to be a first rounder. Emmanuel McNeil Warren late in the second round. We all thought he was going to be a first rounder. If you just look at this draft class, I mean just those four guys in alone kind of like help you win. Also add in the fact that they traded I believe a fifth round pick for Titus Howard who's probably going to start for them on the offensive line this year and which ended up being

free because of the Spencer Fano trade. They basically ended up kind of getting Titus Howard for free.

So they did, did like a little two for one there and then also just throwing this out there. Taylor Green, kind of an interesting pick way late in the sixth round.

The Browns did about as good a job as you could do for a team that's going to be starting DeSean Watson and Shador Sanders until Gabriel this year. Like, they took a lot, they needed a lot and they, they filled in a lot of premium holes. They got two tackles in the first pause rounds.

Everyone's like, I think that was DK's first pause.

Premium hole. They filled with some premium holes right there.

I. I think that the Cleveland is just a place where you're like hoping a quarterback can survive. And I think now Cleveland might be a place maybe that a quarterback can thrive. And they're still Cleveland, So good at marketing. God.

All right, so there you. There. You're your winner. Okay, Craig, the first one off the board. Craig, then who's your. The second pick in the draft? Draft. Craig, who's your next best draft class?

I'm going to take the Giants because it was between them and the Raiders from Heifetz. I think you could. I think the Giants, the Raiders and the Browns are my top three teams. Obviously, Arvell Reese, who many people thought was the best player in the draft, falling to 5 is awesome. And now the Giants defensive line is like borderline. Has the potential to be legendary. Also getting a tackle to fill in, like, just shoring up both lines. And I'm factoring in that this team thinks they have their quarterback. This team thinks they have their long term coach. You have like a fantastic wide receiver. This team has a lot of the pieces that you want and to get the best player in the draft and more protection for your quarterback. I just feel like the vibes are really high. And I know everyone's saying that they're this year's Patriots, but it's hard not to come out of this draft thinking that the Giants did a very professional job.

[Danny Kelly]

Sick.

[Danny Heifetz]

He's like tight.

[Craig Rolbeck]

Like, they didn't even go sexy. They're like, nope. Like, we're not taking a wide receiver. Like, we're going to Take like an edge in a tackle.

[Danny Heifetz]

Heitz, do you think in your heart of hearts, do you think in your heart of hearts that if Arvel Reese had gone number, what was it? Number three to the Cardinals and Jeremiah Love was on the board at number five, do you think the Giants would have taken Jeremiah Love?

[Danny Kelly]

Yes.

[Danny Heifetz]

Talk about sliding doors moment here because I think I do. The fact that Arvl Reese fell is. Is monumentally important for the Giants. And look, the other part of this is Reese can play multiple positions. They're starting him out at linebacker. I think he can be a situational pass rusher. He's really good at that. So you're helping out two different spots. Maui Noah potential to help out multiple spots too. They might start him at guard. I think he has long term upside to the right tackle.

[Danny Kelly]

I think Mary know he's going to play right guard to start, which I don't mind because Will you took a guard. But the point is he can play tackle clean. So if Jermaine Eleanor gets hurt or Andrew Thomas gets hurt, who's. You know what I mean? Then maybe Elementor plays left tackle like, you know what I mean? Or Francis. Or worst case, everyone's healthy and Francis Marinella gets a couple years in the NFL and then it goes to play tackle. That's similar to what Carolina did where they took a left tackle and Monroe Freeling and they're like, well, they have guys good. Just because you have two tackles doesn't mean. This is what I was saying about doing on defense, which is what they ended up doing, which is I don't care if you have two tackles, three tackles is fine. You usually need a third tackle. Like having a transition plan is good. Also the Giants getting Colton Hood at quarterback at a Tennessee in the second round was amazing. He could have gone in the first round. Nobody would have blinked. If he had been like the 21st pick in the draft or if Dallas had taken Colton Hood, no one would have blinked. There's an awesome story. Shout out Tyler Brook who showed this to me where when Colton Hood was at Auburn, the receivers and defensive backs agreed to meet one on a non practice day to work out. None of the defensive backs showed up, just Colton Hood. He was the only cornerback. And then eight wide receivers from Auburn showed up and so they would line up in drills. Colton Hood took every rep. So it was receiver would go Colton Hood. Second receiver goes still Colton Hood. And they did this for like 40 minutes and they didn't take a five minute break because he was going to throw up and then he went back and he'd start doing it, and it's like he's a psycho. That's what I want. He's the second pick. And they traded up for Malachi Fields to start a receiver for Notre Dame. The Giants first four picks are probably going to start and, like, that's. You need that. So I'm thrilled with the Giants draft.

[Danny Heifetz]

Yeah. Really good job.

With that said, my next pick, I'm going to take the Raiders here. I'm not going to lie. I think the Raiders should have been the first pick. I think the Raiders won the draft because I like that the Browns. Browns supported a hypothetical quarterback. I like that the Giants got the best pick in the draft in Orville Reese and supported their real quarterback. But you could argue that the only pick that really will matter from this year's draft class in 20 years is. The Raiders got Fernando Mendoza. They got it.

[Craig Rolbeck]

That's also hypothetical, is it not?

[Danny Kelly]

Well, they got a. It's a real player. It just depends if he's good or not, right?

[Danny Heifetz]

Yeah, quarterback from Tennessee, who if he plays, we don't know what the hell's wrong with him. But like a top 10 guy. But overall, it's like they got the franchise quarterback. It's the only one in the draft. I'm like that. You win the draft like nothing. How often do we say during the season the quarterback's the only thing that matters?

The only quibble with the draft that I've seen people make it, and I think there's some validity to it, is they didn't get a receiver. I really wanted him to take Elijah Surratt and pair him back up with Mendoza since they had such great chemistry. But overall they did get. They did get a six round receiver, Malik Benson, but overall they didn't use any high end draft capital to upgrade their receiver position. But maybe they still believe in Besh. Maybe there's something else coming, a trade or whatever. But that would be the only quibble I have with this class. I otherwise really liked it. I know the trade on Stoops is good. What are you gonna say the Raiders wide receivers are?

[Craig Rolbeck]

I mean, it's Jack Bash, it's Trey Tucker, and it's Jalen Naylor.

[Danny Kelly]

Brock Bowers.

[Danny Heifetz]

But Brock Bowers is the number one there, which is, I think, I mean, he's awesome.

So also, like, Stefan Diggs is still a free agent and like, I wouldn't be shocked if good call. Like Stefan Diggs could just sign with the Raiders. And you're like, oh, more. Yeah, you think we need one more?

Draft starts now. Boy, oh boy. So it comes down to a couple different classes here. I'm going to go with. Go with the Cowboys. The Cowboys. And it was close to me with a couple of other ones, as I said. But I think just in terms of instant impact, guys starting day one and making this a very competitive team and hopefully remaking the defense, I think they did an awesome job. Caleb Downs in the first round. That's a safety from Ohio State. I did it.

Very good.

They trade up one spot to grab

[Craig Rolbeck]

him One guy you probably didn't need to do that for.

[Danny Heifetz]

They went in, they got Malachi Lawrence, defensive end, ucf. And he comes in, he's immediately going to provide explosive speed and juice off the edge. They needed some guys that are just going to kind of wreck havoc and force guys, like flush guys from the pocket, create sacks, things like that. And then Jayshawn Barham, the edge player, slash linebacker out of Michigan who just plays with his hair on fire. He helps bring, you know, like a, an intensity rate raising type of personality to the field. He just wants to hit everybody. He plays with just a ton of energy and intensity, like I said. So I really like those three.

[Danny Kelly]

Jayson Borum, edge rusher from Michigan who's actually going to play linebacker. That one. Yes, I, I do think that was. I'm actually upset about that pick because the Cowboys, they. I mean the Cowboys did everything they needed. Like, they needed, desperately needed an edge rusher, linebacker to safety. They got the best safety in the draft probably Barham is like this edge rusher that play. He also played linebacker for Michigan in like 2024. And like, it's kind of like our vote. Reese, we keep talking about this. It's the same way.

[Danny Heifetz]

He's like a mini Reese. Yeah.

[Danny Kelly]

In the same way that a running back can line up up in the slot. Useless, absolutely useless. But a receiver that can take some running back snaps like Debo Samuel or even JSN lining up at running back in the playoffs, very valuable. A defensive end you can cover. Okay.

[Danny Heifetz]

A linebacker, he'll drop back a couple times a game, sure.

[Danny Kelly]

Sick. But a linebacker who can credibly pass rush at times, that's actually valuable. And the fact that like Barham's going to be that for Dallas is really annoying. I also have to say official statement, since the Giants did take Francis Marineau at 10 instead of Caleb Downs, opening the door for Dallas to have Caleb Downs for 15 years. Was I concerned when the Giants receiver Malik Neighbors on a live stream with Bleach Report freaked out that Dallas was going to get Caleb Downs and was so angry that the Giants took Maui Noah and Malik Neighbors. Malik Neighbors was so upset they took Carville Reese instead of Caleb Downs? No, I was not concerned at all. He's wrong. There's nothing. Don't look into it.

[Danny Heifetz]

What was this? Basically like Caleb Downs has a position his.

[Danny Kelly]

All right. I think he thought that Marvel Reese was. It's two things he thought. Our neighbors thought our voice was going to be a pass rusher. He's like that's what Abdul Carter does. And they're like, no, we're going to play that Will linebacker. And I get Will. They have all these names. Will just means the weak side doesn't matter. But the larger point is Malik Davis was like, holy shit, he's going to cover me. That sucks. Like, I think he was just like, wait, I have to face. He's been talking about good Caleb Downs three months, and he's like, wait, I have to play him twice a year instead of him being on our team? That sucks ass.

Yeah. I also just think. I feel like players opinions of the draft is honestly closer to, like, a fans than it is an expert.

Like, he's probably just like, fuck Caleb Downs, dude. He's so sick. Ohio State, he was awesome last year. Like, they might go that far.

It's so true. Where it's. It's so funny. Where it's so. I have heard NFL players give, like, very eloquent descriptions of, like, fans and, like, fantasy and be like, look, man, fantasy. Or like, all these fans. You don't know what's going on in our building and our locker room. And how could you deign to judge us? We put our bodies on the line and then in the next breath see a TV screen with, like, man, Durant Warriors. That shit doesn't work. They gotta break up. Like, they gotta trade Draymond like, the same. It's like we're all just fans.

Like, most of the time when there's a player interviewing, somebody's like, who's, like, the hardest guy you've ever had to defend or give me, like, kind of like the underrated best. And they're just like, man, Kevin Durant was a bucket man. And you're like, yep, okay, there was Craig.

There was. This is, like. Goes a little bit the other way because it was a college player asking a college player about a pro team, but I can't remember who it was. It might have been R.V. reese, Kai Fitz. Do you remember this?

The other thing I will add real quick before we end, like, wrap up the Cowboys part is that you could probably add like a quarter of Quinn and Williams to this because he was traded for a 2026 second. That pick turned into Derek Moore for the lions and a 2027 first. So he. The first is doing a lot more heavy lifting next year, obviously. But you get Quinn and Williams in the building partly because of this.

So, yeah, defensive tackle from Alabama that was on the jets and traded the Cowboys defense quietly. Defensive tackles are Quinn, Williams and Kenny Clark and the edge rushers and have Rashawn Gary and Malachi Lawrence, and they have Demario Overshone and this Barham kid from Michigan at linebacker and now Caleb Downs at defense. And it's like, it's Dallas. And the Bengals are just kind of racing to see which one can actually build a defense first around their pretty sick offense. And they're just like mirror images in each conference. And like, dude, Dallas, everyone's just being like, oh, the Eagles are falling down the Giants. I'm like, dude, Dallas could be good.

They also have a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker, who comes Eagles.

This guy's going to be a Hall of Famer. He's going to be sick immediately. And I like that there's a couple other guys that. That you know, like Ted Hurst, Keante Scott, the corner out of Miami, they got. I do, like, a few other things that they did.

Yeah, Josiah Trotter, the linebacker. But just Reuben Bane at 15, after everything that went on with him, he fell a little bit. And just like the motivation that he brought to the stage and them getting maybe the best player in college football last year at 15th, I just think is sick. And the Bucks always do a great job on defense, for better or for worse.

Dk, I feel like every single. The. The first four picks the Bucks made, they all just jump off the screen. When you watch Them?

Yeah, yeah, they're all like identity guys, you know what I mean? Toughness, physicality, coming downhill and, and you know, hitting and playing a certain style and a certain energy. And I am excited to watch this Buccaneers defense. They needed some guys like this, I feel like, because they're, you know, what's his name, the linebacker from Nebraska?

Old defensive, they were kind of getting,

yeah, they're like at an inflection point where they're like, we need some new, some new blood in here and kind of get some new energy and, and have that. And I think this class could absolutely do that.

Most super bowl teams, even when you win, look completely different. Four years later. The Buccaneers held on to the core of the team that won the super bowl longer than any team I can remember. And like Levante David retired, Mike Evans is gone. And like, I think they plugged it. But I, I, I totally agree. Omar Cooper, receiver, and d' Angelo Pons the cornerback. Those two are tone setting guys. I think Omar Cooper is a tone set on offense. The way he runs with the ball. I think I love d' Angelo Ponds the way he plays football.

But I think the Jets, I mean they just took so many players high that it's a good class.

Yeah, I don't disagree either. This next pick for me is coming down to two teams. I can't decide which one I like more. I'm ultimately just going to go with what I decided to do on Sunday and gave the Panthers a slightly higher grade. I'm going with the Panthers here who to me their draft is not sexy at all. It's kind of just like a meat and potatoes draft. But I feel like they landed really good players where they got them and I think this is going to be a class that makes them better in the long term. Monroe Freeling At 19 there were some people that thought he would go in the top 10 because of a run on offensive tackles. I feel like they just kind of sat there and let the draft come to them and there he was. I don't know if they, they thought that they could get him going into this class, but Monroe Freeling quietly fills a massive need for them. Iki Aquanu tore his patellar tendon in the playoffs. Like he might not even play this year. Not to mention he might not have a future with the team based I think his next year is a contract year. So they needed a left tackle quietly and I think he could fill that for the next 10 years. I think they came back and got Lee Hunter, defensive tackle, Texas Tech, who is a little bowling ball of a defender who plays a ton of energy has ton of power and I think has some untapped upside as a situational pass rusher. Kind of just like a collapse the pocket type of guy. And then in the third round, they got a receiver from Tennessee, Chris Brazil the second. He's, I think, a good complement to what they have already on the team. Tet McMillan and Jalen Coker. That makes like a really interesting trio of receivers for giving. And they're giving Bryce Young the best chance that they can to kind of like, like continue to emerge this year. Or maybe they can at least figure out if he's the future for them. Add in Sam Heck from Kansas State. He's a center. He might end up starting for them down the line. Ziki Wheatley, Zachy Wheatley. I don't know how to say his name. Wheelie Wheatley. He was a guy that was in my top 100. They just kept scooping up value. So I just like the draft overall. And if you look at that draft along with what they've done in free agency this off season, I just think they're going to be so much more of a badass team next year. They're the type of team who can on defense, like, hit you. They already have Derek Brown. They got Devin.

Which defense does not hit you?

I mean, there's some soft defenses. It's all relative. Of course. Some defenses are soft. Some defenses, you're like, we have to play this team. And I think they're going to be more in the latter camp. Jalen Phillips, they signed in free agency. They got Devin Lloyd. I think he gives them some versatility. They already have J.C. horn, Derek Brown. Last year they drafted Nick Scouton and Princely Uman Mealan. These names, I'm screwing up, I'm sure. But yeah, I just think if you look at the overall, what they've done this off season and in particular this draft, I just think they're tougher and more physical.

Carolina was responsible. They. You can't go broke making a profit. Can't go get fired if you keep taking left tackles and defensive tackles. They just took the value on the board. I will say, ironically, I think this is a reach for the team that you thought just kind of let value fall to them. So, you know, I could have let them go, but, well, that was.

Who I feel like took very Ravensy players. I like when teams stick to their identity in the draft and do what they do well. They got Vega Yoani, the guard at Penn State, another guy who's like pound for pound at his position. Probably one of the best players in the draft. Shored up the offensive line. That took Zion Young, the edge rusher, second out of Missouri. Another, like big, physical edge rusher. Not to mention that, you know, getting Trey Hendrickson instead of Max Crosby. They kept that first round pick, which was Vega Ioanne. They also took two wide receivers in the middle of the draft, Jacoby Lane and Elijah Surratt, the guy DK mentioned earlier, the Indiana wide receiver who had great chemistry with Mendoza. So I don't know, I just think the Ravens, it's like it wasn't sexy, but every, like the top two players in this team are probably going to contribute immediately. And I like that they took a couple shots at wide receiver.

The Ravens always have. They always have this draft where. And it helps, I think that they always have third and fourth rounders because they play the comp pick game so well. But yeah, they just address positions of need and they double up. They. They like to double up at positions. Craig, you mentioned, you mentioned with the two receivers they did that with tight end a couple times. They've done it with other positions along the line. It just seems like that that's kind of what they like to do. But yeah, I mean, Yane, classic Raven. Zion Young, classic Raven. And when I picture him playing, I'm like, oh, yeah, he fits the Ravens defense perfectly. The. I think the Surrat thing, Surat is interesting because they talked about him as a potential slot receiver. Like he can play over the middle of field almost. It almost makes me wonder if like they kind of try and emulate what they were doing a lot of times with like Isaiah likely with him.

Where they use his side, his back, shoulder. He can, you know, just kind of. He has a good understanding of how to use his frame.

I completely agree because the truth is they drafted these two tight ends, but rookie tight ends that are not day one picks are rarely going to be like, you can't count on them to be immediate contributors.

exactly like Matthew Hibner, who went to SMU as a tight end, and then like Josh Cuevas from Bama, it's like, those guys, the Ravens aren't like, we could definitely count on those guys this year. But then, you know, it's funny because Jacoby Lane, the receiver from usc, they took the most incredible hands I've seen in a long time. But also, I don't know if he can press. There's a chance this man sees the field, and I'm very excited to see what could happen there because I really liked his tape, especially considering and taking into account he's new to the position. Like, that's the guy who hopefully can cover Jamar Chase one on one. If Kansas City meets Cincinnati in the playoffs again. And then they go and they're like, Trent McDuffie at Nickel. We got. We got a new nickel Quarterback on the fourth round like a normal team. And then they come back up in the first round.

They get Peter woods, defensive tackle, Clemson.

Clemson's defense sucked. Clemson sucked. And the defense got out of the Brett Dennables family for the first time in forever.

Totally freaking cucked them on national TV in their own house. Tough look. Tough look. And then Eli Stowers, the Vanderbilt tight end, extremely interesting prospect. Tons of athleticism, tons of speed, really good pass catcher. Maybe those two guys can help the Eagles offense finally start to thrive in the middle of the field. God knows they need to. I feel like that is the one thing that's kind of missing from this offense is they need more juice out of the middle of the field. These guys both. That's where they both operate. I think that's important. Markel Bell, huge human being. I think the Eagles are one of those teams where it's like, Howie Roseman played video games. He's like, guess what? Like, these guys are huge and they move really well. Let's take them. Guess what happens.

They're one of the very few teams that I trust to actually utilize Cole Payton in a way that makes sense. The other thing to add real quick here, and this is, you know, not part of their draft class officially, but you could count it is Dontavian Wicks, 5th rounder from this year. That's. They acquired him for that. And then Jonathan Garnard, who could have 10 sacks for them next year for a pair of thirds, a third this year. So I guess they're doing half this year and then a third next year.

Getting Jeremy Bernard who's like another home run pick the wide receiver out of Bam in the second is like a perfect compliment to fill in in the slot next to Michael Pittman and D.K. metcalf. The Drew Aller thing, whatever. It's like a high upside pie in the sky pick and then getting a guy like Jennings dunker the tackle out of Iowa who's my new favorite player in the NFL who is now probably going to slot in at guard. And now the Steelers have like six offensive linemen under 25 years old that are all solid. Factor in it. I like a couple of late round shots they took too but like they really needed the O line and they really needed wide receiver and I thought they accomplished both those goals nicely.

No. Multiple other teams may not have taken Caleb Douglas in any of the seven rounds. And yet the Dolphins are doing a hard rebuild the hard way. They are cutting to it. They're getting rid of Tyree Kill. They got rid of Bradley Chubb. They traded Jalen Waddle, and you know what? 13 picks, it is very hard to go, oh, and 13, like, unless you're the New York Mets. It's very hard. Grew up like 13 picks in a row. And I, I just, I. The other eight picks they made, I really like. And we could go through them, but I just. Making 13 picks, you're bound to hit four or five. And I just, I. I think Miami will like. I like a lot of their spots.

I'm gonna go with the Colts. I liked what the Colts did in their draft. If you count Sauce Gardner. That helps a lot, certainly. But I'm not going to do that here. I just liked what they did from basically the second round on. C.J. allen, Georgia. Just a tone setting type of linebacker. A.J. halsey, one of my favorite safeties in this class. Same kind of deal as Alan, just will come downhill, play big hits. He's kind of a mini cam Chancellor type of guy which wants to intimidate you over the middle of the field. Things like that. Jalen Farmer, I think he could end up starting for them at guard. And then Dion Burks getting him in the seventh I thought was a really good value Speedster. Ran like a 4, 3, 1. And he could come in and eventually work his way into being a third receiver there. So I don't know this. And then, you know, just top to bottom. It was a very solid draft class considering all the. Considering especially the fact they didn't have a first rounder.

I still think that Indianapolis is dogged pursuit of trading multiple first rounders and going all in just to capture the magic of starting one season. 8 and 2 one time is pathetic and will look very poor in hindsight.

There's no issue going to happen there.

I think I'm very excited for the Charger season and I'm happy that they took guys on the defensive and offensive line and so I'm excited.

I, I, I would love the Chargers to be good. Okay. I'm going to take the Texans because it was a limited draft, but I think the Texans, if the Texans can make the super, the Texans can make the super bowl this year. If three things happen. CG Stroud's brain doesn't turn to soup. The Texans defense stays healthy and the Texans nail their first two picks because they got Keelan Rutledge, the guard from Georgia Tech. And then they have Cade McDonald, the defensive tackle from Ohio State that Craig made fun of me because I was so upset the Giants didn't Get them. But those two guys, the only things

Heifers and Austin were like salad, running. Running around the room. Just apoplectic that they. That Katie McDonald was picked there.

And it's funny because every team passed on him, every single team declined to take Kaden McDonald and that at least once or twice. And we're dying for him. But I will say, I just think he's. Somewhat quietly, especially relative to how much we talked about this guy in the run up to the draft, got Sonny Styles at number seven. I think that's just perfect for them. What they want to do. They can build their defense around him. He is. Shoot. I'm trying to remember someone I was reading the other day, someone called him a pterodactyl in the middle of the field. I think he's just got long arms, tons of range, can fly around.

Yeah.

[Danny Heifetz]

Can deal with some of the, like, the really mobile quarterbacks in the division. Also can function as a situational pass rusher at times and also blitz. So I just think there's a ton of upside there. I think Antonio Williams in the third round makes a ton of sense for them. He's a reliable receiver out of Clemson. He's reliable inside outside receiver, great hands, dynamic playmaker. He is one of those guys who's just a football player. He threw two touchdowns in college, does a little bit of everything. Runs after the Catch and then Joshua Joseph's in the fifth round I thought was really good value for them. He is a designated pass rusher. I think he's probably going to just be a sub package type guy only but that's what you get in the fifth round. But he has a ton of juice as a pass rusher so he gives them some, some help in that group. And then Catron Allen in the sixth round. No, I know this wasn't a great running back group catering. Allen is not the fastest guy in the world but I think he's got good vision, he's got good wiggle and he could be be a one. He could be like a back, a good backup in that, in that running back groups. So I think overall they did a really good job.

Washington just hit everything on the fairway with the free agent. Their free agency perfectly complements the draft they dealt with. They needed front seven desperately. They got the edge Russian free agency. They got signed to Dafe away from the charges, got Sonny Styles for the middle and then everyone else is just like a reasonable depth piece at a place that they needed it.

[Craig Rolbeck]

I, I just don't love the only thing with the commanders and I know they didn't have a ton of picks so it's hard for them to accomplish this but like, like I just don't feel good about the targets that they've surrounded. Jaden McDaniels with like I just don't think it's good.

I think that's fair.

Yeah like you have Terry McLaurin who's 30, I guess you hope Antonio Williams works out but it's like you have trail on Burks, you have Luke McCaffrey. The running backs on the commanders are Rashad White and Bill Merritt and like Jerome for I, I just like the tight end is Chicacon. Like I just don't think this is a high quality enough offensive skill group to like win you a Super Bowl. I just don't think so.

The point about Chicacon, believe it or not he has more touchdowns in his career than every other tight end on the roster combined bind. So it's not, it's not a great experience.

It's not a Super bowl worthy offensive.

I agree. Unimpressive. It's an I mean their starter. Yeah starters Rashad White, he's more of like a complimentary guy. Craig, I will say it will it feel different and look different to you if they do pull off this, this trade for the 49ers receiver Ayuk and he comes in there and I mean

it's hard for me to feel good about anything going on.

Well, if they get Brandon Iuk for like a 6th round pick or some.

However, a guy like Diggs, I don't know what's going on with him because he was cut technically, I don't know. But I, I don't think Debo is like. I mean if they thought Debo was a real contributor, he would be on Washington. I'm not impressed.

Well, the rest of the league would have thought that as well. Yeah. Anyway. No, I, I generally agree with Craig's point though.

I'm gonna take Tennessee and I'm doing it because I'm happy that they gave Cam Ward somebody to work with and. And then they even got Keldrick Falk the edge rush out of Auburn at the end of the first round. And then dk, they got a linebacker I know you like Anthony Hill Jr. In the second round they brought in a run. They brought in that Penn State running back Nick Singleton late who's like a low floor high upside. Maybe was a really high recruit back in the day, didn't quite work out. But Carnell tated for. It's like sure, that was probably too high. But you need to get somebody for Cam Ward to fucking throw the ball to. And if you don't look at when he was picked and you just look at what they did, I think you feel good going into this year that now you have like something to work around with with Cam Ward.

I Keljig Falk is fell in the draft because he's not.

And so he's 21. I believe he's 20. He's not. Yeah, he just turned 21 one and. Or no, that's not true. He's 22 in September, but regardless, he's three and a half years younger than Akeem Ecdore. So I like that pick. I also. Anthony Hill Jr. The linebacker to Texas going to Titans in the third round. Tennessee desperately needed an inside linebacker. That's one of the reasons we thought they might take Sonny Styles is because, like, the Titans linebacker group was not ready to run the defense. And so I think Anthony Hill is a big ad for them.

Anthony Hill is one of the most fun players to watch in this whole class. He flies around down. It's crazy. I mean, he's like, he does a lot of. They like run blitz him. So he's just coming through the line of scrimmage.

It's like overshot tomorrow. Overshone was at Texas and Anthony teams recruit similar players and Anthony Hill's a little bit in that vein, but he,

He's a rangy, explosive, athletic linebacker. Tons of upside there. I love that pick.

And like, you would have felt pretty grim heading into the season if you didn't take Carnell Tate. And now, you know, now the wide receiver group, Tate plus Calvin Ridley, Wandale Robinson, Ellic IO Manor, and Shamari dk, who was actually pretty interesting last year.

They take guys that are, you know, 200th on the. The consensus draft board in the second round. They seem to do that every year. Xavian Thomas, the receiver from lsu, was kind of the guy this year. That. That was that guy. And then I think Logan Jones, that was kind of considered reach, but he could end up being a starter for them. That felt a little bit like a panic pick because their center retired. But Sam Roush. Roush, the tight end from Stanford, could be a good depth piece for them at tight end. They love doing tight end, like multiple tight end set stuff in that offense. Keyshawn Elliott was another guy that I liked coming in, and they got him late. They got him in the fifth round, so I thought that was a good value. So overall, I thought it was a good draft. I just love Thieneman, though. He's awesome.

Well, just by that logic, imagine Cowboys fans being like, take the Michael Parsons trade and then telling them that, you know, you won the draft. Think about what you got. You got. You think about, we got Michael Parsons. Look at Malachi Lawrence. Like they'd lose their minds.

I personally, I think you can include a player if this is like the. You're getting a new player because of that draft pick. Like sometimes it's like for the Cowboys, I'm not including Michael Parsons in their draft class because he was there last year.

Well, we'll say half. We'll say three quarters. Yeah, it feels like half, but past that you got Cash's Howell, who I think is a day one contributor. He can come in and provide heat off the edge. He's going to be a pain in the ass, cause chaos in the, in the backfield. They absolutely need that. They lost what's his face Hendrickson in the off season. I think Takaro Davis could come in and play for them. He's really long cornerback on the outside from Washington. They got Connor Liu, the center from Auburn, who I think that was a great value for them. The reason he fell so far is because he tore his ACL last season. But if he gets healthy, he could end up being a starter for them. Brian Parker is another guy that could end up playing on their offensive line. I liked Jack Entries, the tight end out of Texas, who I think in two years he may be starting for them as well. So, like, if you look at this class, it's not sexy. That's the reason they kind of fell this spot. But. But I think you get multiple starters or andor contributors early on.

I'm going to take the Saints because I think if you're a Saints fan, you are cautiously optimistic about what your offense could look like in 2026. There you go. So the Bills traded back three times, basically collected the. If you add up all the value they got, basically it's like the equivalent of like the 44th pick of the three trades. Well, they traded the 60th pick for Digimore. So they more or less like according to the nerd charts made up the value of that trade and then still got the guy they were going to get anyway. And then all the, the Bills, they also just made a lot of picks. Picks like the Bills ended up making I think like 10 plus picks here and it's like I'm not going to go through all the players. I like Skyler Bell, the receiver, Yukon. They got all the defenders but like they have a new defense. Sean McDermott, the head coach is gone. They have Jim Letter, the new defense coordinator. They have a new system and like it's smart to just make a lot of picks and trade back and I like that they accumulated a lot of value and had the discipline to do it because I think a lot of teams probably felt that way but we're too cowardly to do it.

I think a couple guys that are interesting in this class outside of TJ Parker which made 100, he was just, just the most on brand pick you could imagine for the Bills. That was why everybody had them going there. Davison, ig, Benison. Igbison from Ohio State.

So he's the like the most physical, almost blatantly over. He just needs to be a little more subtle. I like that he plays with physicality

Gabe Akis was one of my favorite players in this draft. I talked about him a ton in the pre draft process. He absolutely clobbers people. He hits harder. He's like cement back there. He is. He's really fun to watch. Dude. He just like when, when he hits quarterbacks, they crumple to the ground round. It's crazy. Eli Raridon, tight end out of Notre Dame, he is another very interesting pick for them. He could be the long term successor to Hunter Henry. And then if you go down, down the list a little bit further, they had like some developmental guys. Jam Miller out of Alabama, I think is an interesting pick in the seventh round. He, I don't think he's like the most versatile running back, but he definitely runs hard. He runs really hard. So I'm excited to watch him in the preseason. But overall I think it's the first, those first three picks, picks stood out to me. I thought they got three, you know, starters with those picks.

So they I said it and we'll take him. Everything else I was pretty happy with though. Bud Clark really liked him. He was a guy I kind of identified before the draft as a Seahawks esque type player.

You knew they were taking them months before they took him, but you know, you just telling us now, well, you

can go check out a video. I was on the Seahawks man to man podcast like a couple weeks ago with Mike Dugar and he was a guy that I kind of identified. So suck it high fits. Bud Clark, safety out of tcu. He, he is a corner who. He's a corner sized safety so he can play nickelback. I think he, there's a world in which he can play corner. He flies around. Incredible ball skills. I want to say he had like 15 interceptions in college. Julian Neil, a corner out of Arkansas was a player that I think every Seahawks fan that closely studies the draft had circled as a Seahawk type player. They took him in the third round. Bo Stevens, multi year starter for Iowa's offensive line. That's all I need to know. Plug him in, let him play. He, he's teammates with Jennings Dunker, so that's good. And then after that there was just kind of a bunch of random guys. They got Emmanuel Henderson who is basically a special teams player and then a couple other developmental guys in the seventh round. But they turned. They had four picks coming in. They traded around. They ended up taking, let's see here, eight players and I do think there are at least two to three starters in this group. So overall, you know, obviously a hate the hate the value of that first rounder. But overall they came away with some good players.

They needed edge rushers. They needed cornerbacks particularly then like defense. And that's kind went and got. They got Derek Moore out of Michigan. Like that's a lion's ass player. Like, you know what I mean? Keith Abdy, the cornerback from Arizona State, I thought he might go higher. He ended up going in the fifth round. He's fine. Like, I don't know. They need bodies. It's like they did. They're kind of another on the. They hit it on the fairway team. They got the positions that they needed to get. Kind of like Washington just without the really sexy pick. Like, you know, Washington got Sonny Styles, but I don't know the lines got what they need.

So I think that there's. We always have these conversations and it's kind of a narrative from every draft. But it's going to be very interesting to watch. Watch like for instance David Bailey versus Arvell Reese. Like watch their careers over the next four or five years. Who ends up being a superstar. Maybe they both end up being superstars and we never talk about it again. Maybe one guy's awesome and the other guy's a total bus. Who knows? I think it's going to be interesting to watch what happens with Blake Miller versus Monroe Freeling because everybody connected Freeling to the Lions pre draft and thought, oh, this makes a ton of sense for them. They could just leave Sewell, you know, where in his position that he's most comfortable at. He's like an all pro at that spot. We don't have to worry about it. You don't have to like, you know, reinvent the wheel and around with all of oh, there's a cat on the screen.

But him in that defense where you just never know where pressure's coming to Brian Flores defense, you just kind of can and trick the, trick the offensive lineman, trick the quarterback. I think he, he's a really interesting pick for them at that spot. So I think they've, they've like, like I, like I said, they've been punished way too much I think for this first pick. And this is, this could end up being a really good looking draft class.
