My name is Danny Hyfitz and I'm joined in studio in Los Angeles by Danny Kelly and Craig Horlbeck. The NFL draft is over. Dk. Just contain your excitement. You're so crushed that the draft is over.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, yeah, I forgot.
Craig Horlbeck
I forgot whiskey. I know. Oh yeah, you knew we got to
Danny Kelly
do shots or something in this show
Danny Heifetz
but Danny Kelly has been writing me this morning. Danny Kelly graded every single team's draft@NFL draft.theo.com and he would love. If you hate the draft grade he gave your team, you should go and add him. It's his favorite thing is when oh Cardinal's going to see. Fuck this guy. Just let him know directly.
Danny Kelly
Here's the deal. You have to be following me for. For me to see anything. You write to me on Instagram.
Danny Heifetz
Okay?
Danny Kelly
Twitter. So there you go. It's all. It's all a scheme. Guys.
Danny Heifetz
We are gonna have to be.
Craig Horlbeck
I'm gonna be up your ass then in the DMS about the Steelers getting a B plus.
Danny Heifetz
You can go and dig.
Danny Kelly
Like genuinely was mad at me this morning.
Craig Horlbeck
B plus?
Danny Kelly
Are you fucking kidding me?
Craig Horlbeck
We crushed. Was it because of the makai lemon thing? I would argue that was a good
Danny Heifetz
thing, but it's actually good. We didn't get the player we wanted. That's great. We're gonna few episodes this week. We are gonna keep having episodes all summer. So if you've enjoyed the draft process, stick with us. Obviously, we are going to get to the NFL season of fantasy football as we get closer to next year. So we're next year.
Craig Horlbeck
Never too early.
Danny Kelly
That's not true. Sometimes it is too early.
Danny Heifetz
Okay, we're gonna go through, we're just gonna give some winners, some losers, some awards for this draft. And I would like to humbly submit that the winner of this year's NFL draft is just hope.
Craig Horlbeck
Okay.
Danny Heifetz
It is hope. I think the most every year, isn't it? It is. But particularly this year, I think the most hopeless teams actually have a tremendous amount of hope. The Raiders, the Browns, the jets, and dare I say also the Giants. Like the New York football teams. Cleveland Raiders, the worst teams.
Danny Kelly
The downtrodden, the down guys.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, I would say the hope. And just like who crushed the draft and who actually has the most momentum going into 2027? Heifetz. It's your team, man.
Danny Heifetz
You think it's the Giants?
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, they are this year's Patriots. They are going to be this year's Patriots. Everyone's in everyone's mind. You don't believe that it.
Danny Heifetz
I do. But what bothers me about that you're this year's Patriots, you know, the team that came in last place and then went to the Super Bowl. That doesn't happen every year.
Craig Horlbeck
Well, I don't think they mean that. That's going to be the outcome. It's, it's the team that's going to overperform the team that is like everything is rounding into place. There's also like the similarities, like the second year quarterback, the new first, the first year coach that everybody respects. You guys did a great job in the draft. Like, things are coming together.
Danny Heifetz
I think I'm realizing I don't know how to take a compliment about the Giants anymore. I'm just like, what are you, what are you saying? I'm like, oh, they're good.
Danny Kelly
Oh, division is kind of all over the place. Place. I think the Cowboys, the Cowboys could be good. The Eagles are. Who knows what's going to happen with that team.
Craig Horlbeck
I think I'm gonna bet the Eagles to get last in the in the nfc.
Danny Heifetz
Wait, sorry, you mean you're gonna bet the Eagles to get last in the nfcs because. Mai Lemon.
Craig Horlbeck
Cowboys kind of like what they did. Commanders. If Jaden's if Jaden's healthy.
Danny Heifetz
So I'm like the Giants. I like when we're talking about the teams, the worst teams in the league being good in two years, which is it hope or is it cope? Like do you think the Giants. It's I, I'm not just. It's actually hope.
Craig Horlbeck
The Giants is definitely real. I. I would say the other I to off the hope thing. My, my one of my winners underneath hope is like the really bad teams that necess that maybe didn't even solve their quarterback situation this year that are planning to solve it next year. I think did a really good job of long term planning.
Danny Kelly
Like a trust the process. Yes, good job. Trust the process. You're building the foundation.
Craig Horlbeck
I think Cleveland, I think the Jets, I could argue Miami a little bit. The only one I quibble with Cardinals, I don't know. Jeremiah Lovett 3.
Danny Kelly
To me that's just.
Craig Horlbeck
And they took Carson back. I don't know about that. But I think Cleveland did a great job. They traded back, they accumulated picks. I liked their first lot. They took two wide receivers that we, that we liked. Like they are actually building an infrastructure where if you bring in a guy next year, if they can get Dante Moore, Arch Manning or whatever, they could be in a great spot. Same with the jets, man. Like they're going to be rolling with Gino this year. I quibble a little bit with like, did they need to take Sadiq and a wide receiver in the first Sadiq and Omar Cooper in the first round. But heading into 20, 27, what the jets have built with their offensive line, with the skill players, it's kind of nice. And even Miami, Carlos's Dolphins, like, they have a lot to do. Their roster is pretty depleted. But I feel like they did a great job in the day two and day three rounds of this draft. And also we're all talking about how they don't have a wide receiver. I'm like, maybe they're just waiting for fucking Jeremiah Smith and they're gonna have the third pick next year and they didn't get enough. They didn't reach to get Carnell Tate and now they, they're the second or third pick next year. They're just gonna take Jeremiah Smith.
Danny Kelly
Kind of sick also because there's probably gonna be an early run on quarterbacks if they, if Malik Willis looks great. Yeah, there they go.
Danny Heifetz
Overall though, dk, who do you think is the actual who won the draft? Like if you think if there's a single team that came out the best of Everybody.
Danny Kelly
So we were talking about this yesterday. I think there's a difference between class grades and who won. To me, I think the Raiders won the draft. They got a new franchise quarterback who I have, I feel is going to be good there. I think they're. And they're setting him up well for success because they brought in Kirk Cousins. I don't think they're going to force him to go in right away. It'll be like a more natural succession plan. So that's great. And I think I just pretty much loved every pick that they made during the draft. I, I just, they were scooping out value. They were getting some of the players that I really like. They went up and traded for J. McCoy in the start of the fourth round. That is like you, you could talk about, oh, maybe he only play a couple of years because of the knee issue or whatever, but I'm like, in
Danny Heifetz
the fourth round, oh my God, who cares? Dude, that, that is so true because look, we don't know exactly what happened with Jamar McCor's knee. I'm not a doctor, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Who cares? He has a knee issue. But he also, obviously he ran a 4, 3, 8, 40 yard dash. So the knee isn't a huge problem right now. So we can put two and two together and say it's obviously probably more of a longer term thing with the knee. Maybe it's a second contract issue. Okay, well, you know who else has second contract issues? Every 25 year old player in this draft, including multiple, went in the first round.
Craig Horlbeck
You're not even planning on playing Mendoza year one. So it's like the McCoy thing.
Danny Kelly
Cool.
Craig Horlbeck
Let's see what he's like in 2027. We can take the whole year off if he wants to. We are, we are playing the long game here.
Danny Kelly
Yeah. Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
And again, if McCoy had a completely clean bill of health, he probably is a top 15 player in the entire draft and the Raiders got him. But yeah, I mean, even just other. I mean the Raiders, I mean the Raiders got Mike Washington Jr. Running back at Arkansas, which, all right, it's a backup running back. But like, man, that's a hell of a good backup running back with Genti, like it is a good infrastructure that
Craig Horlbeck
they have a guy that we compared to like Raheem Mostert.
Danny Kelly
Right, right. Yeah, Well, I think he would. And I do think he fits really well with this Kubiak offense. I mean they're going to have an incredible thunder and lightning and both of them are kind of lightning they're both very fast. Same with Genti. But yeah, their run game is going to be good again. Like, they went and got trade on Stux, who I think is a safety at Arizona. He's a. Yeah. Safety out of Arizona. He's a little bit older. He's like 25 years old, but he is kind of one of those guys that could end up being a culture changer. He went from walk on to captain in college. Really good ball production. He's really instinctive in coverage. He is not afraid to stick his face in the fan is like the expression I always love as a defender where he just. He loves coming down and hitting and, you know, I just think he's a really good player.
Danny Heifetz
You probably should be afraid to stick your face in a fan.
Craig Horlbeck
Did you come up with that or is that a common.
Danny Kelly
That's like a rolling ball of butcher knives type thing. Sure, sure. Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
You guys see that? Mendoza is already. The Vegas is getting to him. He gave some, like, little speech on a stage. Dropped a. Let's go.
Danny Kelly
Oh, interesting.
Craig Horlbeck
Just saying.
Danny Heifetz
Do you think Brady said that too much?
Craig Horlbeck
This guy, six months, he's gonna be the strip club at 4aM
Danny Heifetz
do you think Kirk Cousins is actually getting paid to be a chaperone?
Craig Horlbeck
A little bit like that is who they want him to become.
Danny Heifetz
What is it in Bridgerton?
Danny Kelly
We're like, paid to be a good
Danny Heifetz
influence, you know, in Bridgerton, like the women who aren't married yet for a while.
Craig Horlbeck
Fernando's gonna be in Vegas.
Danny Heifetz
They're gonna be supervised at all times. You know, it's like, you know, it's a Bridgerton. It's like you can't be unsupervised alone. Like, that's crazy.
Danny Kelly
He's just gonna be living in a hotel, like a penthouse.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. The wind is gonna give him a fucking penthouse suite as long as he wants.
Danny Kelly
There's like a tiger in there. There's a tiger in there. But. Yeah, no, I love the. I love the Raiders draft. And I'm not doing that just to pander to Austin. I. I thought they did a really good job and everything that you look at. And again, I know that we kind of said this last year with Pete Carroll, but this to me, feels more real. And the way that they're building the foundation, like I said, it feels long term.
Danny Heifetz
Last year when we said the Raiders won the off season, we were young, we were ignorant.
Danny Kelly
We.
Danny Heifetz
We. But since then, this off season, the Raiders won the off season. For real.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. Last year's off Seasonal victory. That didn't mean anything. This year's is awesome.
Craig Horlbeck
It was like Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly, Geno Smith, all these old guys that we got swept.
Danny Kelly
In retrospect, it's kind of up.
Danny Heifetz
It was a bunch of guys that were really innovative 12 years earlier. That was. It was. Wasn't great.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah.
Danny Kelly
But anyway.
Danny Heifetz
But John Harbor Giants.
Danny Kelly
That's great.
Craig Horlbeck
I just think all of the bad teams last year did a good job in the offseason this year.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Hope is. Hope is percolated.
Danny Kelly
Do we want to go over what the Browns did? I love the Browns draft. Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
If they were any other team, we'd be like, wow, this is a great team.
Danny Kelly
To me, it's like when you're doing draft grades or evaluating what happened. Let's try and take the name of the team away. And like, just look at what they did. They traded back in the first round, got a couple extra picks and still got the top tackle on the board. They came into this draft knowing they needed to get a tackle, Spencer Fano, and he might end up playing left tackle for them. He might play on the right side, but that's obviously a. A really good trade for them. They. And then they came back and got two receivers that we really like. Casey Concepcion, Denzel Boston. Denzel Boston fell into the second round. We were thinking, you know, he would be his first rounder, very likely. And that was great value for them. Just going through, all the way through their draft.
Craig Horlbeck
I thought they got Emmanuel McNeil, Warren, some people thought was gonna be first rounder.
Danny Kelly
Huge value there. So, yeah, they just.
Danny Heifetz
They have a guy named Justin Jefferson. He's great.
Craig Horlbeck
They literally drafted a guy named Justin Jefferson.
Danny Kelly
There we go.
Danny Heifetz
Don't look at his position at college, but it's Justin Jefferson.
Danny Kelly
They got Justin Jefferson.
Craig Horlbeck
If they get Dante Moore or something next year, like coming in, I mean, the offensive line still needs work, but like, in theory, if these picks work out, like you got your tackle, you have two first round, first round level talent wide receivers and you have Quinchon Judkins and Dylan Simpson and Harold Fan and a tight end. It's not bad.
Danny Heifetz
It's so funny to think about, like, the, like the love is blind version of the Browns. If I just like you strip away everything you know about the rounds and you're like, what if I told you that they have a Pro bowl quarterback, like one of the best skill groups in the NFL. They're two. Their defensive end just had more sacks.
Craig Horlbeck
Highest paid quarterback in the league.
Danny Heifetz
In the league.
Craig Horlbeck
Guaranteed Full contract ever.
Danny Heifetz
And a Pro Bowler. And then they have literally not only defensive rookie of the year, their pass rusher just set the record for sacks in a season.
Craig Horlbeck
You have, like, Sanders kid on the team.
Danny Kelly
He's really fast, right?
Danny Heifetz
Cherry Judy, number one pick. That's their third receiver.
Craig Horlbeck
Yes.
Danny Kelly
High. Fitz, did you see that? They drafted Taylor Green to your guy.
Danny Heifetz
I fucking love sixth round.
Craig Horlbeck
Is that the. Is that the taste? Some hill guy?
Danny Kelly
No, that's cold. Oh, yeah. Okay. Well, he blew it, but, yeah, one guess who drafted him. I blew it.
Danny Heifetz
Taylor Green's, like, the most athletic quarterback ever, but post Anthony Richardson means you go in the fifth round.
Danny Kelly
Right. But great. I mean, great developmental pick there in the end of. The End of the draft. Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
As Austin said. We were talking about it yesterday, and Austin just threw a cold blanket on. Cold. Cold water on it. And he was just like, blanket.
Danny Kelly
Cold water.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
Cold blanket.
Danny Heifetz
I've never seen a wet blanket.
Danny Kelly
You've never seen a wet blanket? This guy's bragging he's never pissed himself.
Danny Heifetz
Is that what it's. Is that the implication?
Danny Kelly
Oh, I don't think so.
Craig Horlbeck
Oh, I actually could call. I don't. Why are. Why are blankets ever.
Danny Kelly
Don't be blanket.
Danny Heifetz
Why would blankets be wet?
Danny Kelly
Blankets don't keep you warm.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, I think that's probably true.
Danny Kelly
Don't be a wet blanket. Yeah, maybe the. Maybe you're out in the rain. I don't know.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Anyway, Austin was like, they're the Cleveland Browns and their head coach missed the coach's photo for a haircut. So it's like, they're probably gonna check Todd Mon.
Craig Horlbeck
A new guy next off season. We fine.
Danny Heifetz
And the defensive coordinator who had the. This Browns defense competitive then wanted the job. And they were like, you. And he's like, all right, I'll leave. Which is incredible. The other one is, yeah, New York football, I do think was a winner, too. The Giants, we've talked about at length. We.
Danny Kelly
We gotta hand it to them for
Danny Heifetz
all that we joked about the jets offseason vibes. We disagreed. I do think, yeah. Post draft, like, I don't even love Sadiq in the first round, all these things, but they do have good players. Like, Sadiq could be good. Omar. I love Omar Cooper. I mean, the quibble with the jets, incredible Bird's nest.
Danny Kelly
The way that I would explain the jet. What happened with the jets is I like all the players that they took, especially early on because they took David Bailey, number two. They took Kenyan Sadiq, number 16, Omar Cooper, number 30. He's a receiver out of Indiana. And then they also took one of my favorite players, if not my favorite player in the draft, d' Angelo Pons, the cornerback in the second round and. But I think the, the quibble I would have is if you look at where they pick those guys, I'm like, I really like these players that they got, but they could have got these other players I maybe like a little bit more. But that being said, like, I think this is a good foundation for the team.
Craig Horlbeck
I mean, and keep in mind, The jets have three first round picks in 2027. They had, they took three guys in the first round this year. They're going to take three more next year. Aaron Glenn, I don't know if he'll be the coach next year. And there's a chance that the jets are going to be able to take whoever the best quarterback is. Things can change. No one thought it would be Mendoza this year.
Danny Kelly
They have the ammo team like a
Craig Horlbeck
Dante Moore, an Arch Manning.
Danny Kelly
I don't know.
Craig Horlbeck
They care about Oklahoma State or whatever and has and still have two more first round picks and maybe a new head coach.
Danny Heifetz
I think all the quarterbacks next year are going to suck and it's going to be really funny.
Craig Horlbeck
I think they're going to be. I think that always happens.
Danny Heifetz
It's just like everyone just names people but if you actually look at any of those.
Craig Horlbeck
Arch Manning was kind of bad.
Danny Heifetz
Arch Manning was bad. Dante Moore pissed himself in the college football playoffs. The biggest. Say what you want, Dante Moore, the biggest game of his life was the worst game he's ever played. Yeah, like ever.
Craig Horlbeck
I mean he literally didn't go to the draft because of that. I.
Danny Heifetz
In d' Angelo Pons who the jets took in the second round. Yeah, it was the money and well,
Danny Kelly
and could have gotten a lot of money getting more experience.
Danny Heifetz
Oregon seems like a top five. Would you rather be the quarterback for Oregon?
Craig Horlbeck
Probably would have taken him and spoiler, they're going to take him again next year.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, but now he'll have more experience and they'll have a better roster.
Craig Horlbeck
True, true. I agree. It's probably their smart move by him.
Danny Heifetz
Wouldn't you rather get $5 million to play at Oregon instead of 10 million
Craig Horlbeck
to play for the jets and especially like based on what the jets just did. Like yeah, I'd rather wait a year.
Danny Kelly
I think, I think there will be a couple good quarterbacks. The nice part is we have the strength in numbers. There's like eight guys that could be first and only Two or three of them. Maybe two or three of them will turn out.
Craig Horlbeck
What's the kid from Oklahoma State's name?
Danny Heifetz
I always forget Oklahoma's John Matiere, who I love.
Craig Horlbeck
Oh, Oklahoma Sellers is. No, no. Isn't there an Oklahoma State kid?
Danny Heifetz
That's good. Yeah. No, I'm forgetting. Oh, yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
Drew Mestemaker. Right. Some people think he's.
Danny Heifetz
Well, the. No, there's another. There's the other big gamer forgetting. Now I'm forgetting his fucking name.
Craig Horlbeck
Notre Dame kid.
Danny Kelly
Mm.
Danny Heifetz
I also refuse to believe in Julian saying, I don't care anything that happens. I just kind of, like, preemptively out.
Danny Kelly
Strong, strongly strong takes loosely held.
Craig Horlbeck
We're doing our way too early mock.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
C.J.
Danny Kelly
carr. Yeah. Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
He's. I. I could see that.
Danny Kelly
Sure.
Danny Heifetz
I could see that.
Craig Horlbeck
Okay.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, yeah, I could see that. Yeah, yeah.
Danny Heifetz
The other winner.
Craig Horlbeck
Should we do that our way too early mock right now? I mean, we can just go. Yeah, you can see that.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. The other winner. We were walking in here, and I was like, is Ohio State a winner? Like, the entire defense that won a championship two years ago, Everyone got drafted.
Danny Kelly
What do you think about that? I don't give a. Who cares? I don't care about your college. Like, the whole. Like, oh. Oh, my God. So many players got drafted from this college. I don't. Who fucking cares?
Craig Horlbeck
So, like, it's Ohio State.
Danny Kelly
Like, why. Why do I care about that?
Craig Horlbeck
It would be interesting. Toledo had five guys go. But I'm like, okay, it's always Ohio State, Georgia.
Danny Kelly
A lot of Alabama players got drafted. I don't. Why do I care?
Danny Heifetz
The team that spent $40 million on the roster had NFL players. Good.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
I actually so agree.
Danny Kelly
I don't care about your college.
Craig Horlbeck
Nine guys from the Georg. Georgia defense. I'm like, okay, isn't that how it's supposed to be?
Danny Kelly
Cool.
Craig Horlbeck
They have the best players.
Danny Kelly
Say Austin sent this stat over to us that the draft now featured the fewest number of schools.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah.
Danny Kelly
So basically the fewest number of schools of all the players drafted this year. So basically the. Whatever. Whatever. The pool of colleges.
Craig Horlbeck
75 different teams.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
College teams had picks in the NFL draft.
Danny Kelly
The pool of colleges. Colleges that are producing NFL players is the smallest ever. And that's because of the transfer portal people. If they're good enough to go into the NFL, they're transferring to big schools,
Craig Horlbeck
consolidating to the best schools that pay them the most money.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
And, well, college football became an official business, and all industries are consolidating like every industry in the world's consolidation. And college football is just a business now.
Craig Horlbeck
And it's actually not the lowest ever decade. It's only 75 teams. College teams had picks in the NFL draft, the lowest number since 1938. Oh, when we probably just didn't have enough calls.
Danny Heifetz
I was going to say, Francis.
Danny Kelly
People didn't even live on the west coast back.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, we were like 40. How many states did we have in 1938? Like, okay, other winner. I think just tight ends are a winner, man. I think a lot of guys made money this weekend because they're tight ends and there's a huge supply. It was one of the deeper spots in the draft, arguably. And you would think if there's more tight ends in the draft, teams would wait. But the opposite happened, and teams actually went really hard to get the tight ends in the second and third round. And I think it's just the two and three tight end sets are just stay. Like, that was the big theme of last year was teams being like, screw it, we're bringing running back, not running backs, but, like, running is back. And I. Austin had a good stat. Like, basically, since Pro Football Focus started tracking this in 2006, it was the highest usage of multiple tight end sets on record. Literally, teams have not had multiple tight ends on the field in the last 20 years, more than last season. And it's probably going to go up again because we just saw, like, 20 tight ends were drafted, basically. And so I. I don't know about the individual players, but teams clearly, like, they just need. Everyone looked around, was like, we need. I mean, the Rams, I know the second round pick for the second year out of the last two years. Like, the Rams used second round pick on a tight end. They already had five tight ends on the roster, and they took a sixth with their second pick.
Craig Horlbeck
I mean, the jets already had a tight end that we thought was pretty solid and took another one.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
In the first round.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. So tight ends are winner. But speaking of the Rams, though, I have to say loser. If we're talking about losers. A draft weekend, I do think Sean McVeigh.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
Rare.
Danny Kelly
L. Oh, yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
For McVeigh, it's just an own goal.
Danny Kelly
He's on TV in the fifth round, day three, doing an interview to clear up misconceptions.
Craig Horlbeck
Apology presser.
Danny Kelly
What are you doing?
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. So he sat down and was like, hey, everybody, do I look angry now? And he had to do, like a whole thing where he. He was like, literally explaining his behavior, saying. And he Basically said I didn't want Stafford to be mad. So I tried to kind of undersell us taking Ty Simpson to showcase our faith that we still have in Matt Stafford. So I was just like, kind of taking it easy and I guess I overdid it and I looked pissed, but I wasn't. We love Ty Simpson, but also we love Matt Stafford.
Danny Kelly
Right? Right.
Craig Horlbeck
Just like. Like a crisis yarn.
Danny Kelly
You know, what you could have done is not taken Tyson's in. You could have avoided this.
Danny Heifetz
Well, here's. Here's what's funny about the Ty Simpson. Well, first of all, I completely agree with what you're saying, Craig, where he's trying to explain it, but I'm just watching him. Like, the fact that I'm watching you do this for eight minutes right now during the fifth round is. It's. It's.
Craig Horlbeck
So you just know there was like a thousand meetings in between those two pressers.
Danny Heifetz
I think crisis PR it is. Yeah. Tough, tough week for crisis PR in general. I think the.
Craig Horlbeck
Can we linger on Ty Simpson for a moment?
Danny Heifetz
I would like to. I also, I want to ask you something about Ty Simpson. I. A lot of things. The pick was weird. The way McVeigh handled it was weird. People don't really like Ty Simpson as a prospect. He's not like he's above average, but not a special player. He doesn't. He's not that big. He doesn't have that much experience. With all that said, this is probably going to work and he pro. The most likely outcome feels like Ty Simpson is the rams quarterback for 10 years. Is it not in the world where we believe McVeigh that he probably did want Ty Simpson and he just handled it really weirdly because Occam's razor. The simplest answer is probably that McVeigh wanted Ty Simpson and was a weirdo explaining it to Stafford. Then the Rams took a quarterback without McVeigh's blessing. Like, that does seem more normal.
Craig Horlbeck
I agree.
Danny Heifetz
If this is the guy McVeigh wanted for all the bullshit, like, wouldn't you rather. Don't you think it's more likely Ty Simpson's good for the Rams and above average quarterback than he just flames out?
Danny Kelly
I think I said this month I should go dig it up. It's on some podcast in freaking March or something. But I was like, basically the one avenue that I can see working for Ty Simpson is if he lands with the Rams. And so, like, that's not to say he's a bad player, but I just think based on the history of college Quarterbacks coming into the NFL with 15 starts, even 25 starts, absolute just minefield you got. And it's, it's obvious why you get into the NFL. Guess what? It's really hard to play quarterback. It helps to have some practice at it. And so I just think odds are, especially with what Heifet said, a little bit smaller guy, not elite tools. To me, it's like I don't understand exactly why they decided to make this gamble on him at this point in time. When you have the mvp, the reigning mvp, you're in your super bowl window. You could go get a guy that can help you in October and November and December, whatever. But that all that being said, like this is the best situation for him probably in the NFL.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. I mean, because the one case you could make, we talked about the quarterbacks with less than 15, 20, 25 starts. And it's not a great list. Most of those guys played immediately.
Danny Kelly
Right.
Craig Horlbeck
Like Richardson.
Danny Kelly
A lot of them did, yeah.
Danny Heifetz
For the most part, yes.
Craig Horlbeck
Trubisky played almost immediately, right. Maybe.
Danny Kelly
And we're talking about Mr.
Danny Heifetz
Season.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. So you have to factor in that this guy will be sitting behind Matt Stafford for a year at least in with Sean McVay and Matt Stafford, like arguably, if you could select any two quarterbacks to learn behind it that are on the same team, it's probably that combination. So that probably helps.
Danny Heifetz
And the hit rate on quarterbacks that were drafted high and sat is probably like double. I mean the quarterbacks who sat for and like did not end up really being good, just quarterbacks that just sat in general Brady, which even as he doesn't really count six runner. Yeah, but like Patrick Mahomes sat for a year. Jordan Love sat for three years. I would, I guess one of the only guys that really, they did it and didn't work. I guess Paxton lynch would count kind of sitting maybe. But Even that was 2016. He kind of just sucked. But I don't know, it's funny because on one hand Sean McCaffrey has never developed a quarterback. He's always kind of had guys out of the box. Like he got Jared Goff, inherited a first round pick, made him. He was first overall pick and then he made him great. But like he's never really developed it. And then he. But here's the thing. He kicked, he made a Super Bowl Jared Goff and then kicked him to the curb like 18 months later. And
Danny Kelly
I wonder how is Ty Simpson
Danny Heifetz
going to give him the ick in a meeting one day and then he's like this not the guy.
Craig Horlbeck
Well, it's also funny because Ty Simpson style play is not like Stafford at all.
Danny Kelly
Right.
Craig Horlbeck
Like it's. He is so much more of like
Danny Kelly
a Brock Purdy in within the system.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. And I feel like that's why he got rid of Jared Goff is he wanted somebody more dynamic. Well, it's kind of like he doesn't really bring that to the table.
Danny Heifetz
Stafford. It's kind of like because again, I think what McVeigh wanted was he wanted a partner. Right. With Stafford and golf, it was more like a pupil and he wanted a partner somebody could work with. And now you're going. And also Stafford can. When McVay's plan doesn't work, Stafford can no look a pass in the super bowl with the game on the line and no look to Cooper cup and he's like, yeah, that play didn't work. So I just moved the safety and threw a no look pass over the middle, 30 yards on a bullet. You're like, thanks, that's really helpful. And then you're, you're gonna go back to the guy who can't do that. And to your point, I, it's. I feel like it's like lifestyle creep. Like where it's like imagine when you're 40, you go back to living in the apartment you had when you were like 21. And like at the time it was fine, but now it's like, I actually that bathroom is not big enough. And like that wouldn't work. And I feel like that's kind of what he's doing.
Danny Kelly
Turns out I don't want roommates now. I like having my own house.
Danny Heifetz
It is gonna be like that. And it's like you're gonna go back. Like, I get that you made Kirk Cousins work when you were with Washington, but now you've had Stafford. How do you. Why if you're going to have anyone sit for three years by Stafford, why wouldn't you pick a Jordan love a toolsy guy that if he learns to play quarterback can do everything. It's almost weird to have an IQ guy sit who doesn't have experience. It's like you would think you want someone that could he.
Danny Kelly
And also this was some. Someone brought this up and I thought it was really interesting. It's like basically Simpson sat for three years at Alabama. He was a five star prospect. So obviously he has the pedigree. But. But sat for three years, played one year.
Craig Horlbeck
Professional sitter is going to sit for
Danny Kelly
a year or two.
Danny Heifetz
Maybe he couldn't Beat out.
Danny Kelly
He's gonna have one season in, like, five years where he's actually on the field.
Danny Heifetz
Ty Simpson.
Danny Kelly
There's no world that you can convince me that's good. Like, I'm sorry, you have to be on the field playing to get better at it.
Danny Heifetz
Don't forget that Ty Simpson lost a quarterback battle to Jalen Milroe two seasons ago. Like, he could not beat Jalen Milroe in a quarterback competition at Alabama.
Danny Kelly
Seahawks, baby. Let's go.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
You're feeling good about that?
Danny Kelly
No.
Craig Horlbeck
Okay.
Danny Kelly
Like, literally the only time he got on the field last year, he up huge. Huge mout.
Danny Heifetz
I think if you started listening to our show from, like, the second week of February on, I don't think you'd have any idea the Seahawks win the super bowl. If you heard everything he said. He hasn't said one good thing about the Seahawks since mid February.
Danny Kelly
That's false.
Craig Horlbeck
Do you think. Do you. I mean, what.
Danny Kelly
False.
Craig Horlbeck
What vibes did you get in, like, 10th.
Danny Heifetz
Ty Simpson?
Danny Kelly
The Seahawks? Yeah, yeah, something like that.
Craig Horlbeck
Ty Simpson. Like, has anyone's Dynasty draft stock fluctuated more rapidly over the course of 24 hours? Like, when. When he first got drafted. And it was like, oh, no. McVeigh and Les need. They like Ty Simpson. Oh, my God, she'd be like a top six pick in Dynasty. And then it was like, they're not on the same page. McVeigh hates this guy and he's fucking pissed. And it's like, oh, my God, this guy has no shot in the NFL.
Danny Kelly
It's like the poly market again.
Craig Horlbeck
Like, now it's like, man, if. If this guy's going to learn behind Stafford and McVay loves him, it's like top five, like the fifth pick in Dynasty drafts.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, it's interesting.
Danny Heifetz
Speaking of losers of the draft, I still think Mike Vrabel probably also loser of the draft weekend.
Craig Horlbeck
Why?
Danny Kelly
Well, because his team is ignoring him. On. On day three of the draft, they
Craig Horlbeck
were like, the Patriots were still texting him, and then somebody's like, actually, they weren't. Okay. They weren't.
Danny Kelly
They haven't talked.
Danny Heifetz
Just to clear that up. Just to clear that up that we are not. We were going to be in constant communication, and then we decided. You know, it's so funny. It's just like a work PTO thing. We're like, should we ping? This person is like, no, they took the day off.
Craig Horlbeck
Don't blame you.
Danny Kelly
Imagine he's got the away he said on slack or whatever. It's like, I just like, the little palm tree.
Craig Horlbeck
Can you imagine, like whatever's going on in his personal life, like whatever he said he was doing on day three, counseling or whatever he was doing. And him still getting texts.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, my God.
Craig Horlbeck
He's like, are you fudgeing texting right now?
Danny Kelly
And he's like, put that phone down, dude. Why are you in the bathroom talking
Craig Horlbeck
about, like, date like round six cornerbacks. And they're like, are you fucking kidding me?
Danny Heifetz
Literally Ari Gold in Entourage doing the therapy. And it's like, who schedules it at 11am on a Wednesday?
Danny Kelly
You want to live in whatever, Beverly Hills?
Craig Horlbeck
Yes.
Danny Kelly
Then I'm going to have fucking calls
Danny Heifetz
on a motherfucking Wednesday.
Danny Kelly
I just watched that clip the other day. I don't. It like came up. I think it was probably a variable, but I.
Craig Horlbeck
There's a lot of good Tony Soprano and therapy memes now going around a frable.
Danny Kelly
It's good.
Danny Heifetz
I. That's good. Yeah, I think funny memes. I. I think he was loser the weekend.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, that's pretty clear.
Danny Heifetz
Any other losers? Craig?
Craig Horlbeck
Based on what we learned about Jennings Dunker's diet, Steelers four bathroom stalls are
Danny Kelly
about to get lit up. They're gonna have to fix all the
Craig Horlbeck
they need to build him a private porcelain throw.
Danny Heifetz
Can you please remind us, dk? So again, when the draft report cards came. Not draft, sorry. The NFLP report cards came out the combine.
Danny Kelly
They leaked, actually. Yeah, they didn't come out.
Danny Heifetz
Among the leakers, we learned that the Steelers locker room somehow has five stalls. Even though, like, there's like including the practice squad, like 65 players, 90 people
Danny Kelly
on off season roster, 100.
Danny Heifetz
And they all eat at the same time every day.
Craig Horlbeck
And they're eating like sandwiches with french fries on them. You know what I mean? Like, it's. It's heavy.
Danny Heifetz
And so he's eating three heavy out there.
Danny Kelly
Three chicken breasts for breakfast.
Craig Horlbeck
Not drinking erewhon smoothies in Pittsburgh.
Danny Kelly
No, I.
Craig Horlbeck
We need industrial.
Danny Kelly
Somehow forgot to bring that up To Jennings Dunker.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. With his giant three servings of pasta, two rolls and a 12 ounce. And a 12 ounce.
Craig Horlbeck
And then three hours later has three hamburgers and a hot chocolate, then goes to bed, wakes up three chicken breasts and two pancakes.
Danny Kelly
What was. What was the restaurant that you talked about where he went to after Culver's. Culver's. I was not familiar with your game, but apparently. And this is based on.
Craig Horlbeck
We should have gone to Culver.
Danny Kelly
Carlos. Carlos made a little breakout and they have a. Something called a cement mixer.
Craig Horlbeck
Oh, it's like a Shake. That sounds awesome.
Danny Kelly
Which to me is like, God, he's got to get one.
Craig Horlbeck
Where's the nearest Culver?
Danny Heifetz
It's like, it's. Culver's is kind of like in and out, but for the Midwest. It's like their thing that they love, but it's not actually.
Danny Kelly
What is it? What is in a cement mixer?
Danny Heifetz
I.
Danny Kelly
Is it like peanut butter?
Danny Heifetz
Cement mixer is the wildest name for.
Danny Kelly
Sorry. No, it's not cement. It's.
Danny Heifetz
Dude, there's actually butter burgers. Concrete mixer butter burgers.
Craig Horlbeck
Culver's in Nevada? Dude, it's pretty close.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, wow. Okay, what's the.
Danny Kelly
Let's.
Danny Heifetz
Should we get a butter burger?
Craig Horlbeck
Four hour drive right now to Culver's in Vegas? I mean, in Nevada.
Danny Heifetz
Is it in Vegas?
Craig Horlbeck
No, it's south of it.
Danny Kelly
This is basically like a blizzard. They're concrete. Mixers are fresh frozen vanilla or chocolate custard blended with mix ins, like candies, fruits, and nuts. They're thick enough to be served upside down. Have you ever been to Dairy Queen where when you get a blizzard, they, like, show you that it's like, don't
Craig Horlbeck
you love Dairy Queen?
Danny Heifetz
It's like, showing it. It's like showing the haircut. They're like, are you good with this? They're just like, is this like a wine bottle comes by? Like, is this acceptable?
Danny Kelly
Dude, I gained like 30 pounds going to dairy Queen during the. During the pandemic. I was like, stress eating. Like, you know what I need right now? Lizard drive through at Dairy Queen.
Craig Horlbeck
I don't. I've never known some fast food places. They'll like, some have milkshakes, but then some have custard, and I don't know what the difference is. What?
Danny Heifetz
I was just about to ask you guys what custard is.
Danny Kelly
Oh, I think it sounds gross.
Craig Horlbeck
Oh, really?
Danny Kelly
Yeah, custard.
Craig Horlbeck
I think Shake Shack has custard. But I'm like, what is. Is it ice cream or what Custard? Like, is it thicker? Is it, like, more fat? Is it just like, what is it?
Danny Heifetz
Well, it's like a French vanilla ice cream versus vanilla is just like egg yolk.
Craig Horlbeck
Oh, yeah.
Danny Heifetz
So maybe it's like that.
Craig Horlbeck
It's just. Yeah, it's like higher fat content.
Danny Heifetz
Are you gonna Google it?
Danny Kelly
I kind of want to.
Danny Heifetz
I kind of just wanted more cream.
Danny Kelly
Includes at least 1.4% egg yolks and is churned with less air, creating a denser creamer and warmer served treat than I. Warmer.
Danny Heifetz
Kind of nailed.
Danny Kelly
Not into that. Interesting. I like the denser part.
Craig Horlbeck
It doesn't matter if it's warm. So dense it can't melt.
Danny Heifetz

Save on essentials. Save the everyday other losers. I have to say, all right, the loser is definitely whatever Steelers staffer accidentally leaked their pick and then the Eagles traded up and got Makai Lemon. I we don't know exactly what happened, but like you could put two and two together. Like Mike McCarthy is the coach of the Steelers. Yeah, they're on the clock at 21, the Cowboys or sorry, they're on the clock at 21 and the Cowboys are on the clock at 20. Mike McCarthy has a lot of people on the Steelers staff that were also in Dallas. They know each other. Someone on the Steelers clock is tick tack. Some assistant low level guys texting a Steelers low level guy and they're like, who are you taking? The guy's like, whatever, it's going to happen in one minute and they just tell them we're taking Makai Lemon. And then the Cowboys call Philadelphia and is like, hey, like come get the pick. They're going to snipe you. And the Cowboys get the Picks. The Eagles get McKyleman. And you could say whatever you want. I know the Steelers are pretending like, oh, it's fine. The Steelers literally had the most picks in I think the history of the team for them to take. Oh, that's really embarrassing.
Danny Kelly
What is it?
Danny Heifetz
I got an ESPN alert that is. Jackie said that happened during a wedding walkthrough. She was like, that's the most embarrassing man noise. The ESPN alert.
Craig Horlbeck
Sorry, babe, I'm up in my dynasty draft. It's round four.
Danny Heifetz
Sorry. The Yankees try to keep win streak alive against the Astros.
Danny Kelly
It's just not even a fucking news. It's just some article.
Danny Heifetz
Yankees Astros just started.
Danny Kelly
Okay.
Danny Heifetz
That's a good rivalry.
Danny Kelly
Sure.
Danny Heifetz
I get. Yeah, no, I get alerts when the Yankees game starts.
Danny Kelly
Maybe turn that off.
Danny Heifetz
Well, well, like I was saying, it's really embarrassing when you're doing your phone stuff. And so you know what? They shouldn't. It is embarrassing that Kylemon's on his phone like that and then like they have to hang up on you and then actually we're not taking you. That's very embarrassing.
Danny Kelly
No, but I don't think that's embarrassing at all.
Craig Horlbeck
I think it's more embarrassing that I got caught on camera. But I'm sure stuff like that happens and then everyone's like, I don't think
Danny Heifetz
it happens all the time.
Danny Kelly
It does. I've heard about this a million times.
Craig Horlbeck
I mean, how could it not when you're on the phone with somebody and then there's a trade up? Like, I feel like that would happen all the time.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
It's not the whole idea of what traders.
Danny Kelly
Why would it be embarrassing for the Steelers? That makes no sense.
Craig Horlbeck
I kind of agree. Like, it being caught on camera, I guess, is like, you don't see that often. Ivan is like looking into the. Into the abyss.
Danny Heifetz
You don't see it embarrassing that the Steelers when they're hosting the draft and they're like, they're like, hey, like, we're taking you. And then he's like, sorry, gotta go. And then like, they don't get the guy and they. Everyone now knows that the player they picked is not the guy they wanted.
Craig Horlbeck
Okay, but that's what I quibble with. They have a list of players they want.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
When Makai Lemon goes, the next guy in their list was Max Ianature. So then they took him. Everyone was like, oh, wow. The Steelers scrambled. They had no idea who to pick. And the clock ran out and they auto picked this offensive lineman from Arizona State. I'M like, what the fuck are you talking about?
Danny Kelly
About.
Craig Horlbeck
They have a list of guys they want. If one goes away, they take the next guy.
Danny Heifetz
If he gives up, like, two sacks in week one and Makai Lemon scores, like, two touchdowns, no one's going to be like, oh, wow, they really fucked that up. They leaked the pick. Like, that's the point. Like, they fucked it up. Someone gave the pick away. It seems to be the case. Like, I don't know. I guess maybe I'm wrong. I just think it's funny.
Danny Kelly
I think ultimately it's funny, but it's not embarrassing.
Danny Heifetz
Not embarrassing that the incompetence. They. Someone on the staff leaked the pic to the team ahead of them, and then they immediately got fucked by it. That's kind of. That's like. That's amateur.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. Look, it's like, I think the fact that it was caught on camera is more embarrassing than like, the act of a team trading up to take a player that you were going to.
Danny Heifetz
But if it's not just that, and it's also like, no, no. Someone in the room texted the pick, and then they fudgeing got screwed because they actually own gold.
Craig Horlbeck
Lost.
Danny Heifetz
Maybe. Maybe.
Craig Horlbeck
I think ultimately no one cares. I would rather have this tackle and Jeremy Bernard than Makai Lemon and whatever tackle they would take in the mid second.
Danny Heifetz
Omar got hung up on. I think it's embarrassing, but it's fine. All right. Pittsburgh winner. I would you think the city of Pittsburgh won even though they just got
Craig Horlbeck
embarrassed on national television?
Danny Heifetz
Well, the fans didn't get hung up on just the gm, but the whole
Craig Horlbeck
city's embarrassed for their own team with their winners.
Danny Heifetz
Well, people at the draft, they don't know what's going on. They don't know what happened. They'd find out on TV.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. 800,000 people attended this draft. Think about that. Rod Stewart. What's up? We didn't even sing. We got 800. What do you got?
Danny Kelly
What do you got? Rod? Yeah. What was your favorite person that did an introduction to one of the. One of the picks. We were. We were just. During the draft, everyone who decided to come back with an answer, someone, every time, like, every third person would be like, hello, Pittsburgh. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my daughters. I think it was Brett Rippon or whatever.
Craig Horlbeck
My granddaughter, Sarah, Emma and Eleanor. Granddad will be home soon. Okay? Go to sleep now. Okay.
Danny Heifetz
We need the Oscars music.
Danny Kelly
Not Brett. Who's his dad? Ripon Mark. Ripon Mark. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Danny Heifetz
We need. We need the Oscars.
Craig Horlbeck
Do I have a favorite presenter? No.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, yeah, you do. It's everybody who walked up and just read the name and then left.
Craig Horlbeck
All those guys, all the guys, they're
Danny Heifetz
all tied for for first.
Danny Kelly
All the people that went up with the third pick did not say even high. Just went into the. With the 38th pick of the seventh round.
Craig Horlbeck
I agree.
Danny Heifetz
Everyone who just. Yeah, you don't know who they are because they didn't say they're.
Danny Kelly
There was one, one woman, I don't know who it was that you couldn't hear anything she was saying.
Danny Heifetz
She was like, people didn't talk to the mic.
Danny Kelly
With the 17th pick of this sixth round, I. The. The Dallas Cowboys slacked. It's like, God, lady, I can't hear you.
Danny Heifetz
Any other winners or losers?
Danny Kelly
I don't know. Remind me, are there.
Danny Heifetz
I mean the running backs, it was bad enough class and it just feels, I mean, only so only. First of all, overall as a position fantasy, anyone who's Fantasy Football, only 11 running backs were taken after round one, which is the lowest for any draft since 1970. And then only one running back was taken in rounds two and three, which is also the lowest training draft since 1970. So overall. And also the top two running backs were from the same school, which has never happened before. I mean Auburn, there's a couple drafts where actually they were two guys like Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams went to the same draft in top five. But the first two running backs were from the like, they were like Jeremiah Love awesome next best guy, his backup. And then they waited their one guy went the next like 100 picks. It's not great.
Danny Kelly
So yeah, like, obviously I like Jeremiah Love landing spot. You can say what you want about it. It's probably not the best team he could have landed with. He's going to. I'm sure he'll get enough volume. But again, like we mentioned earlier, he's now on a team with Tyler Algier, who got carries ahead of Bijan Robinson in the red zone. Like, who knows what's going to happen.
Craig Horlbeck
We're staring at an Ashton Genty type year now, right?
Danny Kelly
Speaking of Ashton Gente, Mike Washington, who was one of a lot of fantasy people, a lot of dynasty people's favorite running back, super explosive. 4 3Best speed score for any running back of all time in terms of that's weight divided by speed. I don't know what the exact calculation is.
Danny Heifetz
It's just your 40 time adjusted for how much you weigh. So it's like XAVIER WORTHY Running a 4:2 at 160 pounds is not actually as impressive as Brian Thomas running a 4:3 at 210.
Danny Kelly
Yeah. And so he landed on a freaking team that had the sixth overall pick last year. Cool at running back like Ashton. Jen. Now he's Ashton, Jenny's backup. Great. Dead. Dead to fantasy for the most part. The other guy that I think a lot of people liked, including me, was Jonah Coleman. He landed on Sean Payton's team. We don't have to go into it. Never going to be listeners.
Danny Heifetz
How do you feel about Sean Payton?
Danny Kelly
I mean, look, I think it's actually objectively a pretty good landing spot for Jonah Coleman because if he ends up being the successor to J.K. dobbins down the line or whatever. But they just took RJ Harvey in the second round last year. I think it's going to be a nightmare. I don't want to deal with it. I'm not going to worry about it. I don't want to be slave to the whims of Sean Payton. I'm not going to do it. So that sucks for Jonah Coleman.
Danny Heifetz
This is the difference between Craig and I and you is you're at the point in life where you're like, I don't have a room in my life for toxic people. And you're like, sean Payton's a toxic person and I won't be talked to.
Craig Horlbeck
Well, he took Jonah again.
Danny Kelly
He saw a breakout of me talking about Jonah Coleman. He decided, I'm going to fuck this guy. Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. It did seem like a lot of the teams that had openings at the running back position didn't take a running back. Like there are teams that were like, oh, Tennessee or it's like Jacksonville or Carolina. There are these teams where you're like, oh, like maybe one of these guys could have made an immediate splash and instead they're behind Christian McCaffrey and Ashton Genty. Or they're on Arizona like Jeremiah.
Danny Kelly
Tennessee did take Nicholas Singleton, which is kind of interesting, but it's a six round pick so you can expect anything from that.
Danny Heifetz
It's a. The last winner I want to mention is I do think young quarterbacks kind of won. It's not like overwhelming. But Jackson Dart, they drafted Francis Marinoa as a tackle out of Miami who again did walk up on the stage and said, I'll die for you. Which I think that's the new bar. Will Campbell started it. But if the tackle doesn't say in the interview that I'll die for the quarterback, I don't want Him.
Danny Kelly
Sure.
Danny Heifetz
I actually have to hear that now.
Danny Kelly
Like Secret Service. Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Sorry.
Danny Kelly
Yeah. Too soon.
Ad Voice
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Tyler Shuck the quarter for the Saints. I mean, they went and got him Jordan Tyson and Bryce Lance, Trey, Lance's brother, receiver. So the Saints just went and got him Travis.
Danny Kelly
Travis, That's.
Danny Heifetz
I like that. The running back formerly known as Travis etn. They got him a guard, David Edwards from the Bills. And then now they got him Jordan Tyson as, you know, top 10 pick at receiver, and then also Bryce Lance. And it's like the Saints offense now is kind of like what the Falcons was a couple years ago. It's like kind of all very highly drafted players at almost every spot on the entire offense around Tyler Shuck. And then Cam Ward got Cornell Tate as a receiver. It's funny because is Carnell Tate Teeny Higgins, Is he Corey Davis? You know what I mean? It's. We'll see how his career goes. But I mean, that's good for Cammore and then Jane Daniels even. At least they. They did get Antonio Williams the receiver.
Danny Kelly
I think that's a smart move for them. I like that.
Danny Heifetz
So I do want to play a game, though. I think the biggest loser. A lot of these quarterbacks, I mean, fell. I mean, my God. But I want to play a game called two quarterbacks who were drafted ahead of Garrett Nussmeier and Craig. I want to play. Let's play this game here. Two of these guys were in fact drafted. Head of Garrett Nessmeyer, who went in the seventh round of the Chiefs. Baron Morton from Texas Tech, Ethan Kaliak Manis from Rutgers or Ralph Rucker IV from Bucknell.
Danny Kelly
Ralph Rucker.
Danny Heifetz
Ralph Rucker.
Danny Kelly
Like Wreck It Ralph.
Danny Heifetz
Wreck It Ralph Rucker, Ethan Kamanas and Baron Morton.
Craig Horlbeck
One of these is a lie.
Danny Heifetz
One of these men was not drafted ahead of Garrett Ness.
Craig Horlbeck
I love all their tape. I don't know. The. The. The. The Bucknell guy.
Danny Kelly
No.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, that is the line.
Craig Horlbeck
Nice.
Danny Heifetz
God damn it. Good guy. He is a real person.
Craig Horlbeck
What happened to Nussmeier? Was there something we didn't know or is he just not good?
Danny Kelly
That is the question. I don't know. I think that is the question. That. Great question.
Craig Horlbeck
Do you believe that based on his skill set, if there is nothing else going on, that he should be a seventh round pick?
Danny Kelly
Yeah, you do? No, no, no. Sorry. I don't think he should have fallen that far is what I was saying. Yes. I think based on his skill set.
Danny Heifetz
What? No, wait. Yes. I don't understand the question.
Danny Kelly
Sorry, I wasn't Listening. No, Austin was texting us. Injuries is what McShay is hearing. So that, I mean. And that makes sense. Look, he was. He was diagnosed with a cyst on his spine, which is the reason he was having those issues last year. It wasn't like a bulging disc or whatever they said it was at the time. So that. And then I think he had a knee issue as well.
Danny Heifetz
Well, his. That makes sense because at the senior, he basically said after the season ended that they actually didn. Haven't my diagnosis corrected until two weeks ago, and that was in late January.
Danny Kelly
Yeah. So I think Occam's Razor is just an injury thing. He. His skill set, he should have been at least like a third or fourth round pick, I think.
Danny Heifetz
I don't want to hear the word spine.
Danny Kelly
Right. It's not a great. And it was causing him excruciating pain all year. Like, that's not a great look, obviously. So I think that was what happened. Landing in. In Kansas City is pretty interesting, though. I mean, obviously he gets to learn from Andy Reid in that offense under Patrick Mahomes, and. And I don't know if Justin Fields is gonna help him at all, but
Danny Heifetz
does he make him faster?
Danny Kelly
Yeah, but. But yeah. I mean, in that system or whatever, like, that should be good for him. Hopefully some. Some point down the line. Three or four years down the line, maybe he gets a shot to play. But yeah, like, this is obviously a really tough fall for him. And, like, it was shocking. Some of the quarterbacks, like Hypha said, were coming off the board. Sixth, seventh round. I'm like, what the fuck is going on with Nussmeier? Why is it also in a bad
Danny Heifetz
draft where it's like, oh, a lot of these guys, they're like, all right, these are backups. These are.
Danny Kelly
There's like, kickers going first.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. People start looking at special team performance and all these things. Or can this person be our third tight end? The positional value at that point is like, it take a quarterback. The fact that they fell in a bad draft, I think suggests that they're actually even lower on these people than we could have thought. Because I think if Garrett Nussmeier is going seventh round in this draft, it implies he wouldn't have been drafted at all in previous drafts. Especially with the sixth, seventh round, they're just emptying out because of nil. A lot of these guys are going back to money or back to school for more money or eligibility. So it's like a seventh round pick in this draft really is an undrafted free agent by previous standards. So, yeah, that's not great. Okay. I want to get to the best pick of the weekend, and I want to. I think the nominees. And I'm curious, dk, you're going to have to pick one. I think the nominees are. The Giants getting Arville Reese at number five, best player to draft and not to lead the witness. The Dallas trading up and getting Caleb Downs at 11. The Buccaneers getting Ruben Bain at 15. And then traded up to get down. What did I say?
Danny Kelly
One pick.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, he said traded down.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, sorry. It's because his name's down. I got confused.
Danny Kelly
That's funny.
Danny Heifetz
Sorry. His name's Down.
Danny Kelly
The way the brain works.
Danny Heifetz
Up, down, Up. Yes. Sorry, what song is that? Up, down, up down, up, down.
Craig Horlbeck
All I do is win.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, yeah. Shout out to him.
Danny Kelly
Shout out to him.
Danny Heifetz
What commercials? He's getting paid by someone. I'm sure he just did a big commercial. I forget.
Danny Kelly
He's almost certainly probably.
Danny Heifetz
I've never, like, willingly listened to him, but there's a lot of him in my head. It's never been on purpose.
Craig Horlbeck
All I do is win. Was a. Was a. Was a moment in time that I enjoyed.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Anyway, also, the Texans leapfrogged the Giants to get Kaden McDonald to tackle Ohio State.
Craig Horlbeck
Embarrassing for the New York Giants getting leapfrog like that.
Danny Kelly
So embarrassing.
Craig Horlbeck
They were on the phone with him.
Danny Kelly
Yeah. I would.
Danny Heifetz
If the Giants were on the phone with Kaden McDonald.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. Or if they might have been.
Danny Heifetz
If the.
Craig Horlbeck
We don't know that just on camera.
Danny Heifetz
Let me say this. If this had happened to the Jets. The jets were on the phone with the prospect and then they.
Craig Horlbeck
You're making up this Cowboys theory you have is just fine. I saw that tweet as well.
Danny Heifetz
Fine.
Craig Horlbeck
Forget that's where you took.
Danny Heifetz
Forget that. Forget that.
Danny Kelly
If we all saw it.
Danny Heifetz
If the jets was not always believe.
Craig Horlbeck
That was like Mike McCarthy, Cowboys five years ago.
Danny Heifetz
That some guy leaked five years ago. If the jets powering through. If the jets were on the phone with a player and then he hung up on them and then he didn't go to the Jets. Would everyone not be making fun of them for this?
Danny Kelly
If it was Brick, maybe.
Craig Horlbeck
If it was Brick, for sure.
Danny Kelly
Brick got broken up with or whatever. Yeah, that'd be tough.
Danny Heifetz
Or if the Browns, like if one of the teams we make fun of all the time were hung up on.
Danny Kelly
I don't know. I feel like this happens all the time. I don't understand this.
Craig Horlbeck
Don't picks get leaked all the time. Isn't this how this works?
Danny Kelly
To answer your question, I guess I'm wrong. Arvell Reese would be my pick, but I'm not going to give you that satisfaction. So I'm gonna go with Buccaneers getting Reuben Bane. By the way, did you see this? Reuben Bane when he got selected, he was pissed. And when he was walking out the little thing, he's walking out the hallway to go to the stage. Pure business. Walks down the hallway, grabs his hat like, angrily puts it on, cocks his wrist like. And this was Trevor S. Pointed this out. He cocked his wrist like Henry Cavill, you know, like, I'm ready. And then goes out and say. He's like mad. I was like, okay, I want that guy on my team.
Danny Heifetz
I have to say, I do think Reuben Bane will be a Hall of Famer. I do. Everything about him already.
Danny Kelly
Always goes to hall of Fame. I know it's ridiculous for a gold jacket.
Danny Heifetz
I, I do. I have to say, it's so stupid. But the fact that he didn't get a haircut for the combine does stick in my head. Everyone, all these players, immaculate haircuts. All these men have, it's a giant job interview. All of them have great haircuts for the like. And all of them have barbers in their fanc, Ohio State, Oregon locker rooms. They get haircuts for every game. And Ruben Bane just not getting a haircut. I was like, man, this guy really doesn't care.
Danny Kelly
All he cares about is ball. I really like Tampa Bay's draft overall, by the way. They got, they also got Josiah Trotter in the second round. Just downhill thumper, really tenacious, field general type of guy. Obviously son of an NFL player. Ted Hurst, I think that's a really interesting pick in third round. He's basically like a poor man's version of Mike. Mike Evans on the outside, super explosive player.
Danny Heifetz
Ted Hurst is the best fantasy related player. We didn't really talk about pre draft, but Ted is. He went to Georgia State. I think he's a good example of like, why are like if you're. It's kind of like Skyler Bell, who went to UConn and just led, was top five in like every category in college football this year. And it's like, okay, well if you're so good, why are you at a shitty school? But I, I do think it's easy for teams to be like, we're going to ignore these guys. But Ted Hurst is pretty awesome.
Danny Kelly
He moves diff. He is tall, fluid, sudden and really, really like, he has a massive catch rate. He could be on. He could play on the outside for them. And I think he kind of complements what they have in their receiver room right now. And obviously with Baker just ripping passes, anything's possible, right?
Danny Heifetz
What does Baker do?
Danny Kelly
He just rips them.
Danny Heifetz
How much?
Danny Kelly
And then Keonte, Scott, your guy.
Danny Heifetz
I love countess in the fourth round.
Danny Kelly
He fell the fourth round. I think probably age related and 25
Danny Heifetz
speed based quarterback who can't cover people.
Danny Kelly
Right.
Danny Heifetz
But okay, I still made but very cool. Never seen anyone like him. He's still to me, the fastest player I've ever seen who loves tackling. It's such a different skill set than you ever see where you're like, this is the fastest player on the entire field and he's actually terrible at covering receivers, but he's like the best cornerback blitzer. Like, he's not that big, I don't want to pretend. But like, instead of power, he's just running around guards in between the tackles. Like, he's so fast. But in all seriousness, all the guards, like, they've never seen anyone that fast running at them for like, it's like a different kind of thing. And so if you don't get your hand on him immediately, oh my God. Like he just. The amount of sacks he gets, the rollouts, like the running, like the even on in the running play, like the entire point. When we talk about the Shanahan system, just to go back in time, Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak, the Clint Kubiak's father, they. The entire point of wide zone, zone scheme running, the entire point of doing it that way was to make cornerbacks tackle. The entire system worked backward from. Let's make like you have your X's and O's. But the worst X on the board at tackling is the cornerback.
Danny Kelly
There's a famous video with Alex Gibbs, who was the offensive line coach of those teams back in the day, where he's doing a. Like, he's teaching coaches. It's like a clinic or whatever. And I think he's talking to college players, college coaches, and he's like, we got to make the corners tackle. They're just as shitty at tackling in our league as they are in yours. And it was just like such. It went viral. It's so funny. Alex Gibbs is just kind of like a.
Danny Heifetz
He invented all of them.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
But all that's to say, it's just funny to have a cornerback today where it's like, like he's an unbelievable tackler. He hits, he's fast and he can't cover. And he's 4:3. And I'm like, all right, we'll teach him to cover. But he's 25.
Danny Kelly
It's weak.
Danny Heifetz
I love. But the Bucs got him. And it's I, I, I. The Bucks draft was really good. This episode is brought to you by Amazon. If you thought HBO's Euphoria was intense in high school, saddle up. Season three of Euphoria picks up five years later and life looks very different.
Danny Kelly
Hello, Rue. You owe me money.
Ad Voice
No matter what they're chasing, money, love or redemption, no one can escape their fate.
Danny Kelly
The problem is, if you make a deal with the devil, there's no turning back.
Ad Voice
Don't miss the third season of Euphoria, starring two time Emmy winners and data now streaming on HBO and HBO Max, with new episodes every Sunday.
Danny Heifetz
All right, worst pick of the weekend. The single worst pick of the entire weekend. The nominees, the Minnesota Vikings. Taking Caleb Banks, dk. This might be the highest variance pick in the entire draft.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Because he's defensive tackle at a Florida who if he was completely healthy, is probably maybe a top 15 pick.
Danny Kelly
It could be like a Chris Jones type of player, but we don't know
Danny Heifetz
because he played three games last season at Florida before he broke his foot.
Danny Kelly
Right.
Danny Heifetz
And then broke his foot.
Danny Kelly
He tried to come back and then re injured it and then he hurt it again when he was running really fast at the combine.
Danny Heifetz
So a defensive tackle who's broken his foot twice in six months, it's about as high, about as high variance as it gets.
Danny Kelly
And he's, I mean, big guys with foot injuries is just really scary. So you never know where this is going to go. It sounds like he's on track to start practicing in June or whatever, but
Danny Heifetz
it's like a quarterback with the back injury where you're like, like some, it's common sense. Like it's, that's a lot of weight on a foot that broke twice. And also the whole thing is you have to Sit there and like, anchor. It's like kind of everything. I hate to say dk, but other nominee for worst pick of the weekend is the Seahawks taking Jadarian Price, the running back, the second backup running back
Danny Kelly
at a Notre Dame.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah.
Danny Kelly
I think like from a analytical and value based point of view, like, again, I like Jadarian Price. I actually think he's a good player, but he's just not a first round running back. He's not. He's. We've never seen a player with his, like, sort of statistical profile. The fact he was a backup on his own team. Yeah. For most of his career. And he doesn't catch passes, or at least he didn't in college. I think he could. And he could develop there. He's. He flashes the ability to do it.
Danny Heifetz
It.
Danny Kelly
I believe so, basically, yeah. He is a backup quarterback or backup running back on his own team who doesn't really catch passes. That is not a first round quarter of running back.
Danny Heifetz
I actually think his receiving is underrated. But even that is like a guess. It's a projection. It's like, I think bless you.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
I. I still think saying bless you when you see this is ridiculous.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
That's my problem with it is I say it. So I'm a dick.
Craig Horlbeck
I like it. It's.
Danny Kelly
It's polite.
Craig Horlbeck
It is. But like, it's like saying like, you're excused.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
But when you cough, you would. I said bless you. Like, that'd be weird.
Danny Kelly
Right? Because that's not.
Craig Horlbeck
I think because a cough is less disruptive. Like, there's so many types of coughs. Like, if I'm like you, you wouldn't. A sneeze is always big and disruptive. So acknowledging it and saying like, you're good is nice, but shouldn't you have
Danny Heifetz
to just say excuse me, like you sneezed?
Craig Horlbeck
But I don't want to say excuse me because you guys are speaking and then I would interrupt you.
Danny Kelly
I just interrupted us. Anyway, I like saying excuse me when I sneeze. Anyway. What were we talking about? Jadarian Price.
Danny Heifetz
I hate that I'm a dick because I didn't say bless you when he sneezed.
Craig Horlbeck
Well, I'll pocket that forever.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. I guess it's not high in the list of all the reasons, but.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, the, the value there is. I mean, it's just not a good. It's not a good use of. Of draft capital.
Danny Heifetz
He didn't have 15 catches in college, Jerry. And Price, I believe he's the first running back taken in the first round who. I Never hit like 16 touches in a game. And I believe he's the first running back taken in the first round who didn't have, I think the numbers 130 touches in a given season, 140 or something. Having said that, best kick return in college football. I still think it's going to be
Danny Kelly
good player for them. A lot of it's just a value proposition.
Danny Heifetz
It's a good example sometimes where you can't just look at like you're like, oh, well, he had this many touches. Well, but if you go and watch the games, a lot of times he can get touches because he went and scored a touchdown immediately. Like, that is also like, oh, we didn't get that many touches. Well, it's because he ran for 60 yards on his first touch and then he had it like he was tired. And then they put Jeremiah Love and he got like.
Craig Horlbeck
If they didn't win the super bowl, they would have gotten killed for this pick.
Danny Heifetz
I think. Yeah, that is.
Danny Kelly
And exactly. Schneider hadn't. Hasn't been on like an absolute heater for the last three years drafting.
Craig Horlbeck
I think you give him a pass
Danny Kelly
like this fucking thing again. Are you serious?
Danny Heifetz
And they got screwed. They obviously wanted to trade out and what five of the six got traded out. Traded. And they wanted. They didn't want to make the pick. And they were like, oh, literally everyone we were talking. They were talking to five teams and all five made a trade with somebody else and you got screwed.
Danny Kelly
Yeah. So basically, yeah, like I said before, they painted themselves into a corner at the running back position and then. And then four or five trades happened right at the very end of the draft. I'm sure they just couldn't get another person, another team to trade in.
Danny Heifetz
Other worst pick of the weekend nominee is the Jaguars taking Texas A and M tight end Nate Bor Kershire.
Danny Kelly
Morkiture Borkature. I don't know.
Danny Heifetz
I don't know either. It's also funny. Bor Kersher, who is 200 picks higher on the consensus board, which is kind of aggregating everyone's boards. Wisdom of the crowd style. Like, like, you know, the index fund is. It was two. It was a reach by 200 picks.
Craig Horlbeck
How do we feel about John lynch in the presser? I don't know who it was, but somebody just like blatantly asked the question like, because we should talk about Dijon stribling the receiver. Oh, was it him? The receiver out of Ole Miss? They took him 33rd the first pick
Danny Heifetz
of the second round to John Stribling is the pick. Grant Cohen's the guy who asked the question, correct?
Craig Horlbeck
Stribling.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, we probably know that. You know, the Grant Cones, the first pick of the second round.
Craig Horlbeck
I know we just had Ted Hurst, right? And he was like, man, it seems like you guys really reached for this guy, like the consensus big board. He's like 100 spots lower than you took him. And then John lynch was like, well, that's your nerd big board.
Danny Kelly
We have our own nerd.
Craig Horlbeck
No, but essentially, yeah, it's what he meant. Yeah, he's the anger.
Danny Kelly
I'm gonna fucking stuff you in a locker.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, exactly. He's like, cool. You guys have your big board. We don't read that. We have our own big board. And this guy was high on our big board, so we fucking took him.
Danny Heifetz
John lynch was literally like eight pieces of shit like he.
Craig Horlbeck
For breakfast. How do you feel about that analysis and that response?
Danny Kelly
I would say, okay, well, we've looked at what you draft in the second round, and it sucks, dude. Like, maybe you should listen to the consent. Maybe sometimes there is wisdom in crowds. Maybe sometimes you should listen to the thousand other people or whatever that is, whatever the number is that saw this guy and decided he's not worth a second round pick. It is obviously this push and pull to it because, you know, why are they getting paid? Because they're getting paid to make their own decisions and make their. Make their own opinions. And obviously there's a huge part of it, which is the personality thing and who they are as people and how competitive they are and stuff like that. A lot of times these. These draft boards, consensus boards, don't factor that in. It's just not something that they have access to where teams do. But I mean, over the long term, like, the consensus board gives you information on. I think it is worth paying attention to and trying to stick to at least a little bit. Because, I mean, it is just the wisdom of crowds. Like, I think the bottom line is, the way I put it, is teams, overall, teams that try and get too cute with the draft or just think they're smarter than everyone else, more often than not, they're wrong.
Craig Horlbeck
Well, and we said this, I think maybe on this, the Friday episode, or maybe it must have been the Friday episode, but it's worth saying again, this is every skill position player that the Niners have taken on day two in the Shanahan era. Now Dijon Stribling, tight end Cameron Latu, running back Terry and Davis Price, wide Receiver Danny Gray, running back Trey Sermon, Debo Samuel, wide receiver Jalen Hurd, and wide receiver Dante Pettis.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, and Debo Samuel was like a no doubt guy. And so, I mean, obviously that was good pick by them, but the rest of those guys were massive reaches. Devo Samuel wasn't a reach. He wasn't considered a reach. He would have been. He would have been like they went on the consensus board and saw Devo Samuels there.
Danny Heifetz
Exactly.
Danny Kelly
And all those other guys. I think not. Maybe not all of them, but like for the vast majority of those players, I think the reaction during the draft was like, oh, that's.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, Danny Gray, I remember that's like
Danny Kelly
he was supposed to be a fifth rounder or whatever on the consensus board. So it's like ignoring. Completely ignoring the consensus board is. I don't know what the word is. It's like not.
Danny Heifetz
Maybe not.
Danny Kelly
Hubris is like probably the closest thing to it.
Danny Heifetz
Well, I mean, Warren Sharp had this thing about John Lynch's performance. And again, you can measure performance in many different ways.
Craig Horlbeck
You certainly can.
Danny Heifetz
I don't think I could read these board rankings. Disappointing follow up if you.
Craig Horlbeck
There's not only one way to judge performance. That's all I'm saying.
Danny Kelly
Length is not one.
Craig Horlbeck
No, it doesn't have to be anything.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, it's outcome. Look, hard work. Look, talent, hard work. Face talent when talent doesn't work hard.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, that's right.
Danny Heifetz
But the Niners have drafted very poorly the last four years. And the. Again, to your point about, like, yeah, they get paid to make picks, but the truth is you're not getting paid to be a contrarian all the time. You're getting paid to know when to defer from the consensus. Like, even, like there's still a humility in being like, you literally can't make a living just trying to be against the grain all the time. Like, if you're a poker player, like, there's still a certain range of outcomes and certain odds and you become a better player.
Danny Kelly
Probabilities.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, like you're playing probabilities. You're knowing when to defer and all these things. But overall, the night, like the proof, like, they haven't hit a lot of picks recently.
Craig Horlbeck
John lynch ignored my mock.
Danny Heifetz
He did.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, yeah, he ignores everyone's mock. He. Yeah, it's not just him. I mean, there's a handful of.
Danny Heifetz
They took a kicker in the third round and then cut him.
Danny Kelly
And like, honestly, like, all, all those guys, are any of them still on the 49ers?
Craig Horlbeck
I don't think so.
Danny Kelly
I mean, they didn't even make it through their rookie contracts, most of them.
Danny Heifetz
They took a kicker in the third round. It's like, that's just what, like it's weird. You can spend four months in this. He took a kicker in the third round top hundred.
Danny Kelly
Also, like I would add, the 49ers fans that I've seen or talked to are also frustrated with this.
Craig Horlbeck
That third round tight end they took, Cam Lottie was on the team for one year.
Danny Kelly
Yeah. And like the running backs that they've taken in second and third round over the last couple years, they. Shanahan just puts them in the doghouse and forgets about them. Yeah. They never do anything. So. Yeah, I think generally speaking, I respect when people have conviction on a player, but I think there also is the proposition of when, when can we maximize our picks to get this guy instead of picking him 100 picks before, you know, wherever he's supposed to go.
Craig Horlbeck
Tyrion Davis Price, who's 25 years old, is currently on the Birmingham Birmingham Stallions.
Danny Kelly
There we go, dude. I and he was supposed to be a 5th rounder. So I. This is one of those things where we can never really know where a player was going to be taken, but it's playing probabilities well.
Craig Horlbeck
And the fact that the Niners just. You can pencil them in for like 11 or 12 wins every year does a lot of work for this, the draft.
Danny Heifetz
This is also the downside of having like a great look at some point, a Kyle Shanahan, maybe you need a Brett Veach. And I'm not saying John lynch and them are going to break up or anything, but they've been together a long time. At some point, like changes might need to be made, but it's more like
Danny Kelly
also curious how the decision making ends.
Danny Heifetz
John lynch said, well, it's not about consensus board consensus in our building. I'm like, what is. What does that mean? Who Kyle wants, How many. How many people are really fighting? Kyle Shannon or the player, if he really wants something, you know, I mean at the end of the day, a lot of like third round running backs and random receivers being taken to be the backup running back. I'm like, at some point Kyle Shannon watches the tape, wants a running back and then they haven't worked out in like seven years.
Danny Kelly
So anyway, I think the other thing like the Borkature pick to me just completely. Yeah, Nate Borgate or Texas A and M. But Doogie, how's it just. It just that it to me was the definition. Maybe he's going to turn into a good.
Craig Horlbeck
That was their first pick in the draft.
Danny Kelly
Maybe that'll turn into a good player there, who knows.
Danny Heifetz
But it's a 25 year old tight end to me is if he's not good immediately a tight end is seventh
Danny Kelly
year senior, sorry, sixth year senior.
Danny Heifetz
He couldn't start till sixth year.
Danny Kelly
He spent five years at Nebraska and then transferred. But outside he has 38 catches in
Danny Heifetz
his career outside of four players that have been great recently in the rookie year like and I could. Tyler Fannin or sorry, Tyler Warren and Harold Fanning were good tight ends last year. Sam Laporte had a good rookie year, Kyle Pitts had a good rookie year and Brock Barra is a good rookie year. Outside of those five people, tight end very famously usually don't contribute at all till year two or three. It's like the defining aspect of the position almost. So he'll do that when he's 28 for a team that should win the super bowl this year. That's a weird pick.
Danny Kelly
I saw an interview with Jimmy Stones and I don't know, he was explaining James Gladstone, the GM of the Jimmy Stones and Jim. He was basically explaining and to me I'm like, like this just feels like way overthought, way overthinking it. Basically he said we've seen the direction the NFL is going with two tight end and three tight end sets. That's a big deal. And we, we just basically knew we wanted, we needed to get our guy. I'm like when you're that locked into one player and you get that sort of tunnel vision on one guy, that's where really bad value picks happen. You should have a little more nuance and variance on your board. You can have like look, maybe there's a free agent we can get that can block really well. You know, don't get locked in. I think this is what the CX did with Darian Price. Don't get so locked in on one player that you get terrible value for it.
Danny Heifetz
Your draft crit at NFL Draft, the rare.com your thing put it well painted themselves into a corner and then they had to take a running back. But because they didn't have another option because they didn't.
Danny Kelly
They didn't get anybody in free agency they and they let Kenneth Walker walk another.
Danny Heifetz
When you put it like that. Caleb Downs trade up, worst pick of the weekend. I think we're going to give it to one of those but I do want to give a. I think the Dolphins should get the award for the kombucha girl draft, where the woman tries to kombucha. She's like, oh, well, I don't know. And the Dolphins had every pick. I feel like was either awesome, terrible, awesome, terrible. Like, and then even the guys in the middle are like, high variants. So it's like the Dolphins went ahead. I mean, what grade did you. I don't know how you even give them a grade. You give them a B plus, something like. So look, they drafted 13 players first.
Danny Kelly
The first pick they did, they passed on Caleb Downs. They traded back one with the. With the Cowboys, and then they picked Kaden Proctor. And talking to Carlos and I, and I'm guessing a lot of Dolphins fans, like, you just pass on one of the coolest players in the draft, like an awesome football player, and then you took this massive offensive tackle. It's just really the. The excitement Delta on that is. Is massive.
Danny Heifetz
It's like, me. I mean, we have the video of me. Like, when I'm watching thinking the Giants are gonna Caleb down and they took Francis Marineau. I'm like, all right. Vegetables, broccoli.
Danny Kelly
I guess so. Yeah. So then. So taking Kane and Proctor, it's like.
Danny Heifetz
Can I point out one thing on Proctor we have not talked about? Nate Tice pointed this out. Shout out to Nate, who's laughing about it. And I. The Nick Saban quote on Kaden Proctor is. Is like, he didn't say anything bad, but, like, obviously coaches are supposed to talk up their guys. Nick Saban said. Dude, the thing Nick Saban said. Sorry. Oh, no.
Danny Kelly
This reminds me of all vamp. While you're doing this. When the Seahawks picked. Shoot. There was an offensive lineman, Alabama offensive lineman the Seahawks picked in the first round that no one thought. And again, this is when. This was during John Schneider's cute era. And you. It panned right to Nick Saban in the draft room. And he was like, what? And everyone's like, oh, that's. That's not a good sign.
Craig Horlbeck
If we just had a camera, all the coaches at all times, we should.
Danny Heifetz
The biggest miss I think we've ever had in our show is that Anthony Richardson's coach in college in Florida said he thought Richardson needed to work on his leadership and maturity, which. Holy shit, for your college coach to say that. Like, that reminds me like, everyone thought of sour grapes. I think Brian Kelly said to Sean Kaiser should go back to school and not go to. And everyone's like, oh. And I was like, well, he was right. And it's like, when the coach doesn't want the quarterback. Like that's very telling.
Danny Kelly
But it was James Carpenter, by the way.
Danny Heifetz
But the. Nick, Nick Saban, the quote on him, Kaden Proctor, again, was a left tackle at Alabama for like years. The issue is, to them, he's not a bad person. He'll do whatever you ask him to.
Danny Kelly
Not a great start once you get
Danny Heifetz
him in the building.
Craig Horlbeck
Nice guy, though.
Danny Kelly
He's a good person.
Danny Heifetz
But when he's not in the building, he might.
Danny Kelly
Sorry, go ahead.
Danny Heifetz
It is like the jsn.
Danny Kelly
He's a good person. Are we live?
Danny Heifetz
Are we live? Yeah, the excitement was live. When he's not in the building, he might get a little overweight. He might not come in the best shape. And those things are. Those are things you have to manage with them, but I think they're manageable. He's not exactly a self starter who. He says he won't come to camp in the shape you want, but you can still get him to come to camp and then you can get him ready to go. And I'm like, that is. It's the beginning of a rebuild. And it's like this player should be like a. It's a little cliche, but there is something in the fact when you start a thing, the, the, the Jeff Van Gundy quote, who is the coach of the Knicks forever. Not forever, but he, he has this great quote that your best player should set a culture of intolerance for anything that gets in the way of winning. And it is culture.
Danny Kelly
Starter.
Danny Heifetz
But the idea that Nick Saban is like, well, he's not a self starter. I'm like, this is the left tackle.
Craig Horlbeck
He's supposed to be like a cornerstone of your franchise.
Danny Kelly
Right, Right.
Danny Heifetz
He should. He's supposed to be an exemplar to everybody else about how to behave. And the only thing we really know about him for sure is that he admitted he was 50 pounds overweight and they call him Krispy Kreme. His nickname's Crispy Tough. It's not great.
Danny Kelly
He might still end up being a great player. But yeah, that to the react, the instant reaction is like, ah, don't love that. But then they came back and drafted Chris Johnson, who we love. San Diego State.
Danny Heifetz
Crispy Johnson.
Danny Kelly
Chris Johnson.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, no, sorry. He's a cornerback. He doesn't need that.
Danny Kelly
That's. And then they drafted Jacob Rodriguez, who we love. Awesome player, just all over the place, rack up stats. He, he turned. He gets turnovers.
Danny Heifetz
I love linebackers that get Heisman votes. It's always awesome, awesome mustache.
Danny Kelly
One of the. One of the greatest mustaches and also
Danny Heifetz
one of the best forced fumble players in the history. College football.
Danny Kelly
Peanut punch guy.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah.
Danny Kelly
You can't. You have to have two hands on the ball when he's anywhere near you because he's really good. It's. I compared him to. In the pre draft process, I compared him to Mickey from Snatch. You know how he just. Brad pitches like the one punch.
Danny Heifetz
It's honestly also in a division where you have Ramandre Stevenson and the Patriots, it's like you might send Andrew Stevenson into the.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Like, like, I wish we could put money. Can fanduel get us a line right now on Jacob Rodriguez to force two multiple fumbles this year?
Danny Kelly
And then so we're riding a high. Dolphins great draft class. They've got so many picks. And then they draft Caleb Douglas over a lot of receivers that we really like still on the board. And I literally no one knows who this guy is. He was supposed to be like the 250th pick in the draft. And then they come back and draft Chris Bell.
Craig Horlbeck
That's according to the nerds board, right?
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, the nerd board.
Danny Kelly
They come back and draft Chris Bell in the third round. And Kevin Coleman and I like both of these guys. Chris Bell is the one that you, you can squint and visualize in A.J. brown.
Danny Heifetz
What if A.J. brown tours A.C.L. right, in college?
Danny Kelly
I think there's a chance Chris Bell is like the number one receiver on this team by next year. And so. And then you add in Kevin Coleman, who I loved as a slot receiver. They got him in the fifth round. Analytically, he's pretty exciting player statistically what he did in college. He's really shifty, really quick. I don't know. And I like the draft. They also got Kyle Lewis in the fourth round, which was a massive value. So they got Shark Lewis. They got.
Danny Heifetz
We're rebranding him Shark. Shark Lewis. And he's in Miami.
Craig Horlbeck
We got Storm Duck and Shark Lewis.
Danny Kelly
Wait, I'm forgetting the Shark reference.
Danny Heifetz
This is the. The people.
Craig Horlbeck
His name was boring.
Danny Kelly
Oh, okay.
Danny Heifetz
Well, also, I think the position group in pit, they were called the Sharks.
Danny Kelly
Oh.
Danny Heifetz
So I'm like, he should just be called Shark.
Danny Kelly
Oh, nice. I like that. But anyways, yeah. Bottom line. Bottom line.
Danny Heifetz
I think he did.
Danny Kelly
It's fine. I was trying to move on quickly. Anyway. Love the draft. Mostly kombucha. I think I ended up liking it.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
They. They had 13 darts and they don't play darts a lot it seemed like, like the darts went a little bit everywhere, but you know, you had 13, so that's why. Yeah. Other awards here. I do want to, I mean, I, I do think the Eagles and Browns not to just always just worship at the altar of Howie Roseman, which is always annoying every year. But man, the Eagles getting Jonathan Garnard for two third rounders.
Danny Kelly
Just, just Craig's question, why didn't any other team do that?
Craig Horlbeck
He was just sitting there available for two third rounders.
Danny Heifetz
It's one of those.
Danny Kelly
I always think that with every, every trade I'm like, why didn't we do that?
Craig Horlbeck
Also? We're like three months away probably from the Eagles getting a first round pick for AJ Brown.
Danny Heifetz
I really do think everyone's just busy, man. And Howie Roseman, I just, he has
Danny Kelly
time to talk on the phone.
Danny Heifetz
He's just, I swear he's talking to people more like it's not that deep. I, I, I, it's one of those things like, yeah, whatever. And then you're like watching the Eagles in week three, you're like, how the, the fuck did they get Jonathan Gard for third rounder next year in the good draft and this year in the bad draft? Like that I don't get it. Draft X of the weekend, we talk a lot about the draft picks. I want to talk about draft icks. Obviously, Sean McVeigh doing damage control live during round five of the draft was like a huge ick.
Craig Horlbeck
Sure.
Danny Kelly
That was weird story.
Danny Heifetz
I have to Caleb Lomu being drafted as the by the Patriots and then they play his draft thing and he's just doing the like weird dance that he was doing. Like deeply unserious. Francis Marino gets taken by the Giants and he's like, jackson, dart. I will die for you. And Will Campbell who on the Patriots went up. I'll die for you. And Caleb Williams was doing this like vibing and I'm like, that man doesn't like, literally, what is the knock on him? I don't know if he loves hating people. And then you watch that, you're like, this guy's. Yeah, it's not a tackle.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, that wasn't great.
Craig Horlbeck
Do you think he did multiple takes
Danny Kelly
and then, and they chose that one.
Craig Horlbeck
Or, or they chose it. He's like, God, I was just having fun. I thought the cameras were off.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, you know what? Like my favorite song came on and then they freaking tricked me.
Craig Horlbeck
Offensive line, man, I need came on. I, yeah, you don't want your offensive lineman dancing in the video.
Danny Heifetz
But just the man, dude, you shouldn't be silly if you're a left tackle. A left tackle cannot be a silly guy.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, I want my left tackle walking out like Reuben Bay did. Putting on that. He's like, let's go to. I'm headed to the gym.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, he's silly.
Danny Heifetz
I don't want a silly. That should be our. That should be our word next year. It's like, you say soft, but he's silly.
Danny Kelly
Silly goose.
Danny Heifetz
Silly goose. He's a silly goose.
Danny Kelly
Silly goose.
Danny Heifetz
Silly guy.
Danny Kelly
Can I. Can I admit something, please? I've been, like, in this guy's corner the entire draft. Really like him? Kind of. I feel like I've pushed back on some people that think he's maybe not as good as the hype would tell you. I pushed back on some of the stuff that people talked about him at the combine. When Makai Lemon got drafted, he did the whole snake thing again on stage, and I was like, did I make a mistake on this? Like, I don't know if I think he's good anymore.
Craig Horlbeck
Maybe the Steelers. A guy in the Steelers tipped the Eagles off. One guy was like, we can't be taking. I can't deal with it.
Danny Kelly
When he was getting interviewed on stage on, you know, after getting drafted, he was doing the swaying thing again.
Danny Heifetz
I was like.
Danny Kelly
He even said, I saw an interview with him before the draft where he's like, I learned a lesson, you know, how to comport myself in these interview situations. Blah, blah. And then he just, like, immediately reverted back.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. When the lights are brightest, he becomes a snake.
Danny Heifetz
Did you know that Mercedes commercial where they hold up a chicken to try to explain how the axis works or whatever, or the axle works? And it's like, if you move a chick, the chicken's head just stays. If you move a chicken, the head completely stays in place.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Danny Heifetz
You know, it's like you literally, like, it's basically. Its neck is completely. Yeah, exactly. Mikhail Lemon's like, the exact opposite. Like, his head, no matter what he's doing, his head's like. Like, always in motion.
Danny Kelly
Chickens have gyroscopic heads. I thought it was, like, never seen this videos. Hawks and owls, when they're flying, because they're hunters, right. Can move, like, their body is moving all over the place, and their head just stays in the chicken. Wow. Chicken. I didn't expect a chicken to have that type of hun.
Danny Heifetz
Isn't it weird that chickens and T. Rexes are. It's like, their closest living thing?
Danny Kelly
Oh, wow. That is pretty impressive.
Danny Heifetz
Isn't that crazy?
Danny Kelly
It's like a tank turret. Have you ever seen the. The videos of like a. They have the gyroscopic tank turret.
Craig Horlbeck
It.
Danny Kelly
They're going over all these bumps. Damn.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, yeah.
Danny Kelly
Chicken. I didn't. I was. I was not familiar with your game,
Danny Heifetz
dude. Jim Harbaugh, blown away by the production
Danny Kelly
of the animal chicken at one point in their history. Like raptors.
Danny Heifetz
He like a pop. I know.
Danny Kelly
Clever girl.
Craig Horlbeck
He did a 180 on them.
Danny Heifetz
I mean, he did.
Craig Horlbeck
He thought they were nervous birds.
Danny Kelly
Now he eats them.
Craig Horlbeck
Now he owns.
Danny Heifetz
When he was in Michigan, he had a coupe and he was like, I'm blown away by the production. It's a funny kind of cool.
Danny Kelly
Coops is like, by the way, cool
Craig Horlbeck
name for owning your own chickens is like the most LA thing you can do.
Danny Heifetz
Is it?
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
Well, performatively or for real?
Craig Horlbeck
For real. Like rich people now just like have their own farms in their backyards. Like, that's the new thing. It's like, I grow my own food.
Danny Kelly
Skippy really wants to get ducks.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah.
Danny Kelly
I'm like, george is gonna rip this duck.
Danny Heifetz
Don't you have a bird?
Danny Kelly
Essentially? No, he. He probably wouldn't because he is a guardian dog. I think he'd actually be best friends with him. But I don't want to admit that because I don't want to get ducks.
Danny Heifetz
Can I say unlikely animal friendship.
Craig Horlbeck
Another, like, social media moment of this draft that I thought. It's not. It's not a draft ick at all. I just thought it was really funny.
Danny Kelly
Is.
Craig Horlbeck
Did you guys see the clip of Mike McDaniel when they drafted the receiver Brendan Thompson?
Danny Kelly
Oh, yeah, I heard about this.
Craig Horlbeck
I am obsessed with Mike McDaniel and I. Him and Harbot together is like a buddy cop. And I wish there was a camera inside that building at all times. He. He was like, if you guys draft Brendan Thompson, I will take my shirt off right now in this room. He's the best.
Danny Heifetz
I gotta tell you, I.
Craig Horlbeck
That video weird and I love it.
Danny Heifetz
It's so funny too, because you're like, wow, that's awesome. I wonder what guy they got.
Craig Horlbeck
And Brennan Thompson, nine receiver in the fifth round.
Danny Heifetz
Do you. He is 164 pounds. They took a one. He's, I believe, the lightest player in the entire NFL.
Danny Kelly
That's how much I weighed in eighth grade.
Danny Heifetz
I mean, he's an NFL receiver. Like, that's. Was that in the third round or the fourth round? Dude, dude, if you're 160 pounds you should not be a fourth round player.
Danny Kelly
I don't understand, like, fast, man, fast.
Craig Horlbeck
He was on the phone with him, too. He's like, all right, man, go party. Go take your shirt off. He just got drafted.
Danny Heifetz
What is with McDaniel?
Danny Kelly
It's really obsessed with taking his shirt off.
Craig Horlbeck
He's great. I feel like every time Harbaugh looks at him, he's like, you are a sad, strange little man, but I like you.
Danny Heifetz
I want to, at some point when we do our fantasy landing spots, we're gonna do that. Think later this week. I, I, we have to just make a decision and stick to it. On should we even, like, how seriously are we going to talk ourselves into guys like Casey Concepcion, Denzel, Boston, the receivers on Cleveland. And like, I like versus don't we just, for better or for worse, want to go down with. Just give me lad McConkey and let me be invested in Mike McDaniel and the Chargers and however their season goes, that's how my season will go. Don't we just want to, like, actually hold to it for once of, like, like we're not being in on the Browns? I don't care what is said. Like, like, we're just going to pick our players, we're going to rank them accordingly. And like, I'm not getting sucked into.
Craig Horlbeck
I mean, if you're talking about drafting LAD McConkey versus Denzel Boston.
Danny Heifetz
No, I'm saying we're going to move them like, like the nerd board. We're going to move them like four rounds below consensus because you know what? You don't want to spend a hundred hours watching the Cleveland Browns.
Danny Kelly
I have very incredibly strong powers of talking myself into things, so.
Craig Horlbeck
I mean, you were debating talking yourself into Deshaun Watson, who's torn twice.
Danny Kelly
Todd Mockins done some interesting stuff in his career. Sure.
Danny Heifetz
Like, missed the head coach photo. Who? I was getting a haircut.
Danny Kelly
He's too busy freaking drawing plays.
Danny Heifetz
I don't know.
Craig Horlbeck
He was busy getting a haircut.
Danny Kelly
He was thinking about plays he's drawing up.
Danny Heifetz
I love that he skipped the head. I love that there was a photo, but the meeting before that was a head coach meeting for all 32 coaches, and he skipped that meeting.
Danny Kelly
He's got to get the haircut. He kind of reminds me of the head coach on the water. Boy. What's his name?
Craig Horlbeck
Henry Winkler.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, Winkler there. He's like, he's got all these plays in his head but can't show up to a, to a picture.
Danny Heifetz
We're gonna, we're gonna go through, and we're gonna have, like, a more comprehensive look at every other draft as well. Is there anything else that, like, from draft weekend that we just didn't hit that you do want to hit? Other than that guy who has to get kicked in the nuts because the Seok sticker running back with their first pick. We're going back and forth.
Danny Kelly
The biggest story of the weekend.
Danny Heifetz
We're gonna get a video from that guy. Don't worry.
Craig Horlbeck
I think we should stream that video live during our live stream fantasy draft in August.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, should we fly them out and do it on live? Should we fly the guys out?
Craig Horlbeck
Do it more fun in theory than in reality.
Danny Heifetz
And then he gets hurt, and then it kind of kill. Brings the vibes.
Craig Horlbeck
Watch him topple to the ground.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. He's like in, you know, Austin Fowers, and the guy's like, I'm still alive. Please send help.
Craig Horlbeck
I don't know if I actually want to watch him get shot. Get kicked in the nut.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah, it sounds funny.
Danny Kelly
Very badly furred.
Danny Heifetz
He's just, like, writhing in pain, which
Craig Horlbeck
is like one of his testicles has exploded.
Danny Kelly
Jesus.
Danny Heifetz
Should that be the punishment this year, one of the drafts? You get kicked in the nuts?
Craig Horlbeck
No, no.
Danny Kelly
I feel like we're adults. We don't need to do that.
Danny Heifetz
This guy's older than us. The guy who agreed to it is older than we are.
Danny Kelly
Fair. Fair.
Danny Heifetz
He's like 44 or something.
Danny Kelly
That doesn't make it right.
Danny Heifetz
Would you.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, I'm not doing that.
Danny Heifetz
You could suggest it, I guess, but someone asked. Were you the one who asked? Like, oh, these people all have kids already. Confirm. Yeah, they. They're like. They got.
Danny Kelly
They're snipped. He's like, I can't feel a thing down there.
Craig Horlbeck
I'm like a Ken doll down there.
Danny Heifetz
Okay.
Craig Horlbeck
All right.
Danny Heifetz
This is our last episode in person for a minute. Is there anything else we want to get out while we're here?
Danny Kelly
Feel like we've. We've talked a lot this weekend.
Craig Horlbeck
Congrats on winning the draft. The Giants, probably Giants and Browns and Raiders.
Danny Heifetz
The Raiders got a quarterback. I feel like they have to win. Yeah. In the next episode, we're going to have an episode on Wednesday. And then also we're going back to Ring. A fantasy football show.
Craig Horlbeck
That's right.
Danny Kelly
We're gonna talk. We're gonna talk rookie landing spots also.
Danny Heifetz
Wait, I got that wrong. Sorry. We're having an episode on Tuesday morning, and then Thursday morning, and then we're.
Craig Horlbeck
No, that's Wrong. What This. The. What we're taping now is Monday. Then we will. The next show will come out Wednesday.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, yeah, he's right. Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
So.
Danny Heifetz
But the. We're gonna.
Craig Horlbeck
Then there will be another show, like, Thursday afternoon, Friday morning.
Danny Heifetz
But if you started listening to us this season, the title of this feed will now be the Ringer Fantasy Football show, which is the same thing. And just stick with it.
Craig Horlbeck
And it's.
Danny Heifetz
It's.
Craig Horlbeck
It's just time to start ramping it back up. 364 days till next year's hockey tryouts a little bit, but I'm okay. Yeah.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Danny Heifetz
I can't believe the Niners took a kicker in the third round and then, like, didn't win a Super Bowl.
Craig Horlbeck
And he's on the Commanders. What team is on? Oh, he's the Bears.
Danny Kelly
All right.
Danny Heifetz
Oh, yeah. Okay. Thank you, dk. Thank you, Craig. Thank you to everyone who emailed in or commented Instagram about the guy getting kicked in his nuts. I'm glad we're interested in that. Thank you.
Danny Kelly
Really invested in this.
Danny Heifetz
Thank you, everyone who's concerned for my heart because how much Red Bull I've driven drink.
Danny Kelly
You are currently drinking.
Danny Heifetz
Yeah. This wasn't coffee.
Craig Horlbeck
We started this recording at 10:30am he has been on the West coast for four days.
Danny Heifetz
Well, now we got to get back to east coast time. That's, you know, that's really the problem.
Craig Horlbeck
Why? How does a red bull at 10am Help that?
Danny Heifetz
I don't know. I thought I started as a bit. I'm worried. I can't stop now.
Craig Horlbeck
And you already had coffee this morning pouring Red Bulls in a mug. This guy needs an intervention.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, he's like hiding it in the mug, shaking.
Danny Heifetz
Dude, do you remember, did you watch Peaky Blinders? The third season, the Russian season, when he's like, why do you people with people so much? And he's like. She's like, at first we did it because we were bored. Now we do it because we can't stop.
Craig Horlbeck
Hi. Fitz is like McVeigh, where he can just, like, pull. He's like, you remember season four from Hacks? And when Deborah Vance says this line, what the you talking about? You know Lost Season two, Episode four, when Jack is on the island and he's trying to, like, eat food and he can't.
Danny Kelly
Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
That's just like the Raiders this year. You're like, what are you talking about? I have no idea what you're talking about.
Danny Kelly
This is high. Heifetz is like the modern, modern version of the dude who can recite poetry. You know what I mean? He's reciting season three, episode four and
Craig Horlbeck
you and I every time nod like, of course. That line. I watched Peaky Blinders. I have no idea what line.
Danny Kelly
He has some good. Actually, I will credit you. You have some good lines.
Craig Horlbeck
Oh, he's a. You're amazing at them. They always apply.
Danny Kelly
Well, I don't know where the super applicable stuff.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, I just keep it.
Danny Heifetz
Instead of all the organization you would prefer to have.
Craig Horlbeck
He's always.
Danny Kelly
I do like that line.
Craig Horlbeck
He's like, you know the Lannister line with. From Tyrion in season four, four of Game. I'm like, no, of course I don't.
Danny Heifetz
How do you want to die? Tyrion Lannister, 80 years old, belly full of wine, girls around my neck. Oh, no, not neck. No,
Craig Horlbeck
Girls around my neck.
Danny Heifetz
I guess I don't get all the quotes right.
Danny Kelly
The vision hole on that is.
Danny Heifetz
I don't get all the quotes.
Danny Kelly
You got to practice the.
Danny Heifetz
The poetry a little fuzzy.
Danny Kelly
What is the actual line?
Craig Horlbeck
Girls.
Danny Heifetz
Girls.
Craig Horlbeck
Mouth.
Danny Kelly
No, that makes sense. Yeah.
Craig Horlbeck
Girls around my neck. He's good, dude.
Danny Kelly
Someone cycle in.
Craig Horlbeck
If he had any balls, that would be the title of this episode.
Danny Kelly
Holy. I'm really glad I wasn't the one who said that. That was good.
Craig Horlbeck
I'm really glad I wasn't the one that said that.
Danny Heifetz
Also during the thing about how much I can quote things.
Danny Kelly
Actually, that was really good.
Craig Horlbeck
80 years old, belly full of wine, girls are talking around my neck.
Danny Kelly
There's like some like auto erotic asphyxiation.
Craig Horlbeck
Something that's real.
Danny Heifetz
Oh my God.
Craig Horlbeck
Lord.
Danny Kelly
How do you recover from that?
Danny Heifetz
I don't know.
Craig Horlbeck
We must just thank Lauren and get out of here.
Danny Heifetz
Thank you, Lauren.
Craig Horlbeck
Lauren.
Danny Kelly
Thank you. Mind Enterprises. Hell yeah. Craig, tell me about this band.
Craig Horlbeck
They're. They're like an Italian band. Disco techno group. That right there.
Danny Kelly
I'm in. Say less.
Craig Horlbeck
They're at Coachella this year. They rock.
Danny Kelly
All right.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah. These two Italian dudes, are they mdma?
Danny Kelly
What's. What's that?
Danny Heifetz
MDMA said?
Danny Kelly
No, that's not the band. No, there's mgmt. Are they kind of like that vibes or what?
Craig Horlbeck
No way. More like old school 80s Italian pop. There's like no singing.
Danny Kelly
That sounds amazing.
Craig Horlbeck
Yeah, it's fun. You feel like you're at like a pool party when you listen to their music. It's great.
Danny Kelly
Yeah, they're like, did you hear this at the W or. Sorry, the. The Cosmopolitan pool when you went to Vegas.
Craig Horlbeck
I didn't go to the pool, but
Danny Kelly
