What you got in Houston's headlines?
C
Hey, Rod. Data centers are like a hot topic. Very controversial. President Trump is announcing a pledge from major utilities and companies saying consumers are not going to bear the extra electricity costs of these AI data center expansions across the US he's calling it the ratepayer protection pledge, and it's meant to reduce that burden of potentially skyrocketing electric bills by making tech companies build their own power plants and fund them well. As these companies continue to break ground across Texas, there's a new survey that is making headlines today that says 56% of Texans are opposed to construction of these centers in their communities. The FDA can't seem to pinpoint the cause of the whole poop lettuce outbreaks.
D
Right.
C
But they do want you to look at your eggs. A large batch of eggs sold across Texas are being pulled from shelves because they're contaminated with salmonella.
A
Come on.
C
It's 1.5 million dozen eggs that are part of this recall, which is why we're talking about it. If you bought eggs recently at, like, Kroger, Brookshire's and other small grocery stores, it's worth just checking out the carton code. So much to celebrate today, including National Drive Thru Day. And in celebration, I'm going to shock you when I tell you the fastest fast food line.
A
Everybody says it's Chick Fil A. Chick
C
Fil A is the slowest.
A
I thought everybody said that. Thank you.
C
I thought the same thing.
A
The kids are running around with the iPads and stuff.
C
They made the list of the friendliest overall satisfaction, but they ranked last when it came to time spent in line.
A
More people go there than any place else.
C
Yes. And they're making what you want, and they're making it perfectly.
A
Who's fast?
C
Taco Bell.
A
There you go.
C
It's small ingredient list.
A
There you go.
C
I mean, I don't know. I don't know. That's. I was shocked. Also, Comic Con currently in full swing in San Diego. And yesterday, Johnny Depp was there. He shocked fans because he came out in full Ebenezer Scrooge costume. He's doing that new Ebenezer movie out in November, surrounded by Christmas carolers, he comes out of this snowy village storefront to speak with fans, stays in character the whole time, and even gave fans a quote humbug before leaving.
A
Okay.
C
I mean, he commits, doesn't he?
A
I think we have a link up for that on links and guests, the video.
C
Okay, good.
A
If you want to see what he looks like.
C
And then we got some wedding pictures. Yesterday, Korn's lead singer Jonathan Davis found himself a wifey. The singer wed Brittany Parcy. She's a jewelry designer. The wedding was July 3rd, but they just posted pictures yesterday. Congratulations to the two of them. Y' all are gonna love. He wore a kilt. I know you love that.
A
Yeah, he seems kilty. He's Kilty.
C
Those are Houston's headlines.
A
Yep, that's in the music blog page today. If you want to see those wedding photos. Take it, Alex.
D
Astros are back in action tonight. They're open up a weekend series with the White Sox on the road. Spencer Arrighetti will be on the mound for the strozz going up against Chicago's Davis Martin. First pitch is at 640, and you can listen to that one on our sister station Sports Talk 790. That is what's going on in sports.
A
Okay, thank you. Four hours of pain. It's Friday. It's not that painful. The first phone call is going to be our first beer winner today. Beer 6, 7, 8, 9. Free beer Friday. We'll get you guys involved with everything that we're doing today on the show. Guys, strap yourselves in. It is the most interactive show on the radio. And it starts right now. Free beer Friday, you got the free beer Friday. You got the free bear Friday. You got the free bear Friday. Free beer Friday. 94. 5 the buzz. Good morning Rod Ryan show premiere Friday. Yeah, that's what that was. It means it is free beer Friday. I looked over at Alex, I'm like, alex, did you play the thing, did you play the thing that said everything
D
I normally do on a Friday.
A
But you, you played the thing that said, hey, call now for free beer. It's free beer Friday. Going on, going on 23 years. 713-212-5945. Going on 23 years.
D
That was played.
A
Chili chimes in. He goes, hey, man, did you play the free beer Friday thing? I looked at Alex, he said, yeah, we did. I look over the phones. No phones are ringing now. You know, I already have this irrational
C
fear that no one's going to show up to your party.
A
I feel like no one's coming to my party. Here it is Friday. It's freebie Friday.
C
We're all jacked up.
A
My favorite party of the week. And I see that no phones are ringing. And I'm like, that's it. My run over.
C
No one wants to come here.
A
The run is over. It's been. It's been so. It's been so much fun. And then no one's listening now. So I go to Check the phones.
C
You call it from your own cell phone?
A
1-3212-5945A.
C
Yeah, yeah, the phones aren't working.
A
It says it's busy, but nobody's calling. Yeah, okay. So then the next thing I do is I go, well, Chili knows what's going on. Chili always knows what's going on.
D
Chili.
A
Hey, Chili. I'm calling. I'm calling the radio station. It says there's a busy signal, but yet no one's calling.
E
Yeah, I got the same tone. I'm on it. I'm con. I'm actually emailing the corporate people, the main big shots, and then I'm about to call them and give them a nice little wake up call.
A
Yeah, because they said to call them, right? Yeah. Are these people in New York?
E
I believe so. I'm just covering my bases. Doing what wizard said. Email. Do this, do this. So we're going through the process again.
A
They said it was fixed last time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
E
But, but of course, you know, it's Friday.
A
Yeah, We.
E
We got a job list, Mile.
A
Like, I need the. I need the phones.
E
I mean, our people won the free beer Friday, man. Come on.
A
I think it's funny for a couple of times when people hear this, like, okay, Rod's gonna unschool, blah, blah, blah. Like, it's not even funny anymore.
D
It just sounds unprofessional. Yeah, yeah, we didn't do anything. We're just trying to show up and do our jobs. Yeah. Give us the tools to succeed.
E
I mean, cloud based phones, people.
A
Why would we?
D
Yeah, I mean, who needs landline phones?
E
Well, I can't even call the dude. We don't have no working phones. Oh, let me just. Let me use my personal phone, okay?
A
We don't play games with phones or anything all day. Yeah, J. Jason Baker says the phones were busy. He goes, I was caller 10. I know it. But he sounds like he was calling 10, too. You're sweet.
D
All right, thanks for trying.
C
Don't give up on us. We're here.
A
Wake those MFers up in New York City, okay? And tell them that we're having a problem here.
D
Tell them Seacrest is having a problem, then they'll be really onto it.
A
Yeah, like, is Bobby Bones having a problem with his phones or is it just us? So we're going to see if we can figure this out. I will get you that beer. Don't worry. I will get you that beer today at some point. What's happening with the fresh out of bed, head to head challenge? I Don't know.
C
No idea.
A
I don't know if we can get some miracle of the phone's working, but. Okay, let me take a break. I apologize as I always do, and I don't freak out and throw things anymore. I'm just like, oh, okay, that's. This is what. This is what they want us to do. They're throwing us out there with our hands tied behind our backs. On the flip of this brake, we can do these things. The microphone's working.
C
Thank you.
A
That's good. So we'll do a rec check. You got your cameras up for the rec checks and all of that.
C
They're good.
A
We'll find out what's trending and then by some miracle, maybe we can turn this thing around and we can get the phones ready for the fresh out of bed. Head to head, Houston's rock, Houston's alternative
C
and home of the Rod ryan Morning Show.
D
94.
C
5 the Buzz.
A
94. 5 the Buzz. Welcome back, Rod Ryan show. I'm told people are scrambling to get things working here. It's cool. Hope you're off to a great start to your day. Everybody. Let's take a look outside. 20 chance of rain. Partly cloudy, high of 94. Only a 10. Chance of rain on Saturday. 20 chance of rain on Sunday. Listen, we thought it was gonna be way worse around here, and then mid-90s is what we're gonna. Alex, what's trending?
D
Ebenezer is trending. That's the number one trend I see. This morning. Johnny Depp showed up at San Diego Comic Con. Mo kind of talked about this in headlines. He announced that he's gonna play Ebenezer Scrooge in the new movie Ebenezer, but it's basically a Christmas carol. He's just gonna play everything that's ever been, like an iconic person before.
A
Yeah.
D
Like, is he gonna do Mary Poppins? Johnny Depp's gonna do Mary Poppins at some point.
A
He hasn't done the Grinch yet.
D
That's due. We're due for that Willy Wonka. He did Edward Scissorhands, even though that was its own thing.
A
I know you guys like that. Jim Carrey Grinch. Do you like the. The Christmas carol that he did? Did you know that he did that?
C
Yeah.
A
Jim Carrey. You like that one? It stops inside of Sydney Grinch. Okay.
B
Yeah.
D
I don't need to know any other work. He does Christmas rice.
A
It's just crazy, like, how much they're redoing that Christmas carol over and over again.
C
Maybe they'll get it. Right. Eventually.
A
I don't know.
D
I mean, if you have enough versions, you could watch a different version of the Christmas Carol. Go to the day in December.
A
Go to the old black and white one. Alistair Sims. That was OG oh, yeah, he's the
D
OG and then I'm gonna watch White Christmas. He's the original.
A
He's the original Scrooge. Okay, what else?
D
Diego Pavia is trending. Chili's favorite athlete is the former Vanderbilt quarterback and Heisen finalist was cut by the Ravens yesterday. He had signed as an undrafted free agent after the draft. And then David Lee Roth lights the menorah. So does James Caan and the late dinosaur. Right. David Lee Roth canceled the rest of his tour dates for this year. He didn't list a reason. But sources, according to the article that I read briefly, say that it's because of low ticket sales. So he just wasn't. He wasn't moving the needle.
A
I saw Sammy Hagar, who always takes the high road. Those guys didn't get along. He said, listen, I hope everything's okay.
D
I saw that, too, but I didn't mean, like, they didn't say that he was like, rumored to be having health issues or other issues or anything like that. They said that it was. The source said it was low ticket ticket sales.
A
Okay. We hope he's okay. That's for sure. Now, this music here has come to be known as the opening of the Fresh out of bed Head to Head challenge, also featured in the movie Enter the Dragon. Fun fact. Now, you would. We would need people to be able to call in and play the game. Chili, you were. You went missing for a little while. You are on email chains now with high powered people that can fix things from remote locations. Chili, what's. What's the latest?
E
I believe it's right now it's a Houston thing because the other stations don't have phones either, except for.
A
So everybody's miserable.
E
Like, except for the news station because they got landlines. Yeah.
A
Dana Tyson handling it better than me.
E
I did not want to stress her out.
A
I would love to see her throwing stuff around. I would love, like. I'm gonna go handle her. I'm going to go take her a stapler to throw down the hall.
C
I dare.
D
Probably would.
E
Thank you.
A
She'd be like, oh, my God.
C
I was just.
A
Just needing this.
E
Staples.
A
So the sports guy. Okay, I'm. I know you told me not to, but I just feel like I got to do something. We got to restart.
C
So.
A
No, we don't have any phones yet. Chili? Nah, that's cool.
E
I mean, we could call them and put them on speakerphone on our personal phones and see if it works.
A
Yeah, but speaker, it won't work.
E
I mean, you put the phone on microphones. That we could do it old school, ghetto style.
A
Okay.
C
Pretty ghetto.
E
Hey, solutions. That's what we're all about here, people. Solutions.
A
Yeah, I don't think we're playing the game today. That's awesome. All right, we'll continue to try to fix this situation here. It sounds silly to apologize. It really does. I feel like an idiot. Apologizes over and over and over again. It's like, you know, we're big by heart. We're huge. Everybody loves us, right? You're listening to the Rod Ryan show on Free Beer Friday. Good morning. 5 the Buzz Good Morning Rob Ryan show. Here we are, guys. What's up? It's 6:27. What used to be called free beer Friday on this show. We'll get to it. So I will give away four cases of beer today if they just tell me, like, hey, we're done with phones cutbacks everywh. Maybe they just said we're not going to pay a phone bill anymore. But I will get to all of the stuff. Unless some miracle happened that I don't know about, I don't think I don't see anything happening on the phones. I lost chili because I restarted my computer. Chili. When I restart my computer, did I knock us off of Facebook or are we still on Facebook and YouTube? Does that work?
E
Yeah, it still works because it's going through my computer. Yeah. So we're still good on that. Unless they decide not to pay the computer today.
A
People can see the miserable, like, the misery in my face. Yeah. Like they can.
E
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They see us, like, getting out and they see Mo kind of like, we are dead. Giving that awkward laugh. Like, I want to laugh, but not kind of like, I don't know.
A
I don't know why. This one seems to be worse for me. This one seems to be like a
D
meeting about how stuff's gonna work.
E
I kind of wanna. Yesterday, I kind of want to say, hey, bust out the tequila and let's just go home.
A
Is it National Tequila Day?
E
It is.
C
I brought.
A
Howard Stern was already left.
D
Howard Stern would have been so done already.
A
I actually thought about it. I'm like, nah, we gotta.
D
What if, though.
A
What are they gonna do if we
E
can't talk to the listener? I mean, they can listen to us,
D
but we'll be more entertaining if we start drinking now. Yeah.
A
Some guy already. Some dude already busted my balls. Like, I thought you were the most interactive show on the radio, Rod. I'm like, wow. We try to be.
E
What did I say to that show on HBO on with a training camp when he says, I'm making a. I'm making chicken salad out of chicken poop. Yeah, that's what we're doing right now.
A
Okay. This Corey with a K guy. The guy in New York that you emailed. Yeah. He's the guy that said, hey, make sure we know about these things. It's not. It's not enough to tell. I mean, poor Tom. Who's our engineer?
D
Cory Brooks.
A
So what is. What does he say?
E
When I talked to him, he said, sound like he was sleeping. So I told him where I was from the issue we were having Buttercup. And then I told him what? And, you know, he interrogated me, acting like I was a no sabo type of guy. Didn't know what studio I was in or what. Whatever, you know. So then I told him, look, Studio A, KTBC Houston. Studio A, Rod Ryan show. They're. The phones are not working.
A
Yeah.
E
And I'm in studio E, which my studio phones are not working either. Well, y' all are connected to one. All right, Glad. Get it working, please. Thank you. Yeah.
D
Shut up, nerd. Figure it out. Yeah.
E
Yeah. So that's where we're at right now.
A
I'm calling engineers Will sometimes want to, like, explain to you, like, oh, well, here's what's happening. I don't care. I don't care. Jiggle the cord. Do whatever you have to do.
E
Rice.
D
Yeah, you explaining it to me is not gonna make it better to me.
A
Yeah, that's true. So all I'm gonna do is continue to apologize. So why is the carpet wet? Todd was supposed to go for win number three, and then Kenny told me he's sure he would have been 10 today. Call it 10. I'm gonna believe him. Kenny, you.
E
I was calling you, Kenny, but you didn't answer.
A
Adam was for sure that he was caller 10 today. And then all of these beer winners are like, oh, my God. I had never won beer before, but I think I was gonna be caller 10 today. You all were gonna.
C
Y' all should bring us beer.
A
You all should really think that. That's a great way to think. I am hoping that the whole thing. The Sizzler. Oh, I built this whole show.
D
Yet the interactivity part.
A
So when I came here, like, I told him, okay, here's kind of what I want to do, but I want it to be very interactive. One of the reasons that they brought me to Houston, as I said, I wanted it to be very interactive. I want to make sure that, you know, we get people involved. I didn't want to create a radio show that was just a bunch of people talking, and it sounded like a closed party. My. How I explained it to the people that were Here at the time, this is 23 years ago, I said, listen, my analogy was always, I want it to sound like a house party, but I want the front door to be open and I want everybody to think that they can come in at any time so it's cool to have. And then social media wasn't what it was when we started. Social media started making that house party even more accessible. But the most important thing was always keeping those phone lines going, which historically
D
had never been a problem because we
A
didn't cheap out on the phone. And they knew because they heard the show in New Orleans before I got here. So they knew that I played a lot of different stupid games and stuff which all require the phones. So they knew what they were getting. Part of the reason that I was brought in to take over here was to do the type of show that we've set up.
C
It's fun.
A
Nothing. Everything is in a spot for a specific reason. The beer was already laid out where it was to be given away. The fresh out of bed, head to head was always going to be at 6:20 where everything was placed. Know the show. At the end of the show. All required phones. I've held up my end of the bargain. I've held up my end of the bargain. I showed up to work today. All I do is come in here and do what I said I was gonna do every day.
C
I think I'm gonna go pour the tequila.
A
I did. I might just go jump. Yeah, I mean, get to the top of the roof. Tequila in homeroom sounds reckless and perfect at the same time. I don't know. All right,
E
all right.
A
We. I, I can't, I, I can't do four hours of this though either. So it's just. Homeroom is really thrown off by it. You might want to text Hal, tell him to stay in bed. He doesn't have to call in ahead of that, sir.
E
We already did.
A
Right. He's calling in from around the world this week so he doesn't have to get up early. But we'll, we'll make it through this. Listen, I brought in a ton of stuff to talk about and then we can maybe use, we can somehow get social media involved. But I'm hanging out on those, I'm hanging on those beers and don't worry, I'm. And somehow I'm giving away four cases of beer today. And then I'm already thinking about how I'm going to do these 311 Dirty Heads tickets. So that's coming up. I do want to give you guys beer today at some point. So we're working behind the scenes to get the phones back up and running 20. Nothing over a 20% chance of rain today and the whole weekend, really. Partly cloudy skies, high of 94. That's kind of what we're going to get all weekend long, Bill. I'm checking emails right now. That's one way that we can communicate this morning. He said that poop music seemed to calm you down yesterday.
D
Let me see if.
A
If it works. Bill, you were doing a story yesterday
C
about the squatty shoes.
A
Yeah, the. The platform shoes to elevate your legs when you're going poop. And I was struggling for poop music for your story is what you decided. Yeah, I think this is calming me down a little bit.
C
Do you need to excuse yourself? Are you guys.
E
I mean.
A
No, it's not making me have to go to the bathroom. I think it's just. There's something calming about it. Let's do some breathing exercises on the radio, everybody.
C
Let's do it.
A
Hey, we can do fun facts. I brought some. I brought in everything to do the show today. I brought in everything to do the show today. I just assuming that all the equipment would work so we can kind of do this. It's the fun fact of the day. We make you look smart in front of your buddies. It's the fun fact of the day. All right, here we go. I did bring in some fun facts for you today. Maybe that's what I could have done. I could have just done fun facts the whole show.
C
Maybe you will.
A
Here's what I brought in for you today. Most pencils sold in America today have what on the end? An eraser, Right?
C
Little pink one.
A
Yeah. Those sold in Europe usually don't. British consumers typically buy erasers separately and they refer to those standalone erasers as rubbers.
C
Who's gonna tell him?
A
I made a little mistake here? Can I borrow your rubber?
C
Who's gonna tell him?
A
The rubbers my Australian friend caused calls Diapers.
C
Uhhuh.
A
Nappies.
D
Yeah.
A
Like, oh, here you're going to go through a lot of nappies. That new kid, the largest snowflake ever recorded. Got to go back, back, back to 1887 in Montana. 15 inches in diameter and 8 inches thick. That is fun. That was a snowflake.
C
And you want to say prove it. But there weren't cameras, right?
A
1887 there was.
D
Yeah, I guess not.
A
I think there was photography in 1887, wasn't there?
C
There's no AI, that's for sure.
A
No. How do you feel about fake banana flavoring?
C
No. Pass.
D
I don't really feel about it very often.
A
It's kind of banana. Yeah. The thing that's way off for me. I don't want to get off on a tangent, but hey, I got time.
C
Go off.
A
Who came up with whatever you And I think tastes like grape? That does not taste like grapes.
C
It is Diamond Tap.
A
It doesn't.
D
Or soda.
E
Yeah.
A
We are so conditioned that you hadn't even thought about it. Your whole life you had this grape flavor. It doesn't taste like grape.
C
Right.
A
They don't taste like grapes at all.
C
You think banana diet does?
D
I don't.
A
Why am I the only one? The reason the taste of artificial banana flavoring and fake banana flavored products doesn't taste like bananas. It's based on another type of banana and that was wiped out by a plague in the 1950s. That's neat. Why don't they just make a flavoring of today's bananas? They don't do it. I don't know. They're crazy. They're silly like that. It's the fun fact of the day. We make you look smart in front of your buddies. It's the fun fact of the day. I'm not saying the grape flavoring is bad. It just doesn't really. It doesn't taste like grapes.
D
I agree.
A
It's a flavor. And they're like, well, let's just call this grape. And you know what? Nobody until Rod will say anything now. I'd love to do this fun fact flashback thing, but then, ergo, we go with the phones. But enough's enough already. I'm gonna ask you to email me rod@thebuzz.com R O D. You know what?

E
Hi.
A
Rod Ryan show on Free Beer Friday. Maybe it's your fun backlash. Okay, so we can't use the phones, but we could use Mo's. We could abuse mo's email inbox. Mo the buzz.com I said, what is the animal that cannot move their eyes? Because their eyes aren't balls. They're cylinders that are held in place by the bones. And I said, well, let's. You could just easily look at your email and go, boom, boom, boom, Boom, boom. The 10th one in could be the winner.
C
It's very easy.
D
What was.
A
Who was the 10th one in?
C
Her name was Kristen and she guessed owl. Owl. Which is the right answer, right?
A
There you go. Yeah. Owl have evolved to be able to rotate their head 270 degrees left and right 90 degrees up and down because they don't have balls. Eyeballs.
D
Yeah.
C
Kristen will shoot you an email with all of the details and get you these three 11 Dirty Heads tickets, sister. They're gonna be August 23rd in the Woodlands. Everybody else, Ticketmaster.com stop emailing me. Just kidding.
E
Any.
C
Any idea, any idea how many emails you received 570.
D
Yeah,
C
thank you.
A
Let me. I'm seeing some activity on my phone screen here.
E
Oh,
A
Good morning, Rod Ryan show.
E
Hey, the phone's back on.
D
What happened?
A
I just called the two seconds ago.
E
Now give me my beer and give
D
me my other stuff.
A
That's one small step for man.
C
Suddenly, things are not working anymore.
A
Giant leap for mankind.
E
Wow.
A
Like landing on the moon. Our phones are working. Jason, thank you.
C
Thanks for trying and staying with us.
A
Thank you, brother. I appreciate you. Thank you so much. Let's see. Hey, good morning. Rod Ryan out shout show. Good morning, Mr.
E
Rob.
A
The only.
D
See, you got the phone thick.
A
The only person freaking out more than me is probably Robbie. I'm like, I think of you, dude. I'm like, oh, my God, Robbie. No phones. That's like cutting off his arm. Like, you can't. Yeah, both my legs. All right, thank you, Robbie. We're back up and running. All right, we're giving away beer. That's it. We're doing everything. Suburb Summer Sizzler is on. I can't go back and retro play the fresh out of bed head to head. I'm not gonna do that. We're gonna just postpone. We're gonna punt until Monday. Todd, I've already apologized 10 times. What am I gonna do here? How many times can I apologize? That's good news for beer. That's good news for Breaking Benjamin tickets. That's good news for Moe's inbox, because I was gonna use that all day. We were just gonna pound Mo's box all morning.
C
Just another day with those emails.
A
All right, let's get right into it, Mo. All of a sudden, I'm in a better mood. Tequila for everybody. What do you got? Houston's headlines.
C
So President Trump is announcing a pledge from major utility and companies saying consumers will not bear the extra electricity costs of all these AI data centers that are expanding across the US he updated his ratepayer protection pledge that is meant to reduce the burden of these potentially skyrocketing electric bills. As all of these companies are breaking ground with these new data centers is
A
there's something connected to. Now, you know, I'm a dumb and I. That's why I have you guys. Because you're smart. Do these things use a lot of water?
C
Yeah.
D
All they use how they have to cool the servers. So while we're making all the cool meme pictures, the water stealing the water from many cities all over the years.
C
So now you're gonna get, like, a lot more jokes. You're gonna understand Them now people are like, hey, cool it with the AI things. Maybe the water bill won't be so expensive.
A
Yeah, just radiators be cooling the water cools the service.
D
You need more stuff to, to make everything run okay. So water Tennessee is all out of water because they have data centers and
A
we're not paying for these.
C
They're saying that's what this potential.
D
We're not.
C
We're going to pay for pledge.
D
You always pay for them.
C
All right, locally, breaking news. What began as a reported shoplifting in the Galleria area ended in tragedy. Two women were killed after they ran across the Southwest Freeway following a police shoot chase. It started at the Old Navy right over here last night.
A
In the Galleria.
C
Yeah.
A
Okay.
C
And there was a reported shoplifting at 9:15. They got the description of the vehicle. Investigators went to go check it out. Attempted a traffic stop. Ended up being a chase. Ladies all left the car in the middle of the highway and two of them died.
A
And then started like frogger trying to get across. And two girls were killed.
E
Killed.
C
Yeah. Stay home. This month has delivered a ton of innovations when it comes to beating the heat.
B
We're hot.
C
What do we do? You buy a human refrigerator.
A
It's high tech, guys.
D
I got the air conditioner.
A
I got a video of this thing. It's like a beer refrigerator for a human.
D
Like a walk in fridge. Basically.
A
It's just got one bench seat in it and it's got a big clear front door. Like just like a commercial.
D
Sauna.
A
Beer refrigerator, reverse sauna.
E
Thank you.
A
And you go in there and you just show 40 degrees,
C
sit on the seat. 41 degrees F. It's so, it's so awesome.
D
This is a very rich place.
C
$9,000.
A
Yeah, I didn't see that. How much?
C
$9,200.
A
Oh, I got to go put my whole body in it. I can't just put my head in the freezer and Looks like you're going into a refrigerator. What have they done about like allowing you to breathe? You can breathe in a walk in.
C
Yeah.
A
This is not that big.
D
Yeah, but like it's like just do that. Do what they do in a walk in.
A
It gives the, it gives the vibe that you would run out of air in a short period of time.
C
Don't overthink it. It's fine.
D
They poke like a hole there, I'm sure.
A
Yeah.
C
And it's like a jets like in a hot tub. So they're directed towards your neck, your shoulders, your back, your points that are going to cool you down quickly.
A
Okay.
C
$9,200.
D
All right.
C
You might have noticed that Nancy Guthrie's back in the headlines.
A
Yeah.
C
The girls on the crime junkie podcast decided to read the first ransom note word for word.
A
Oh, they released it to the public.
C
Yeah.
D
Oh, I didn't know that.
C
Authorities have still not discussed the authenticity of this thing.
A
But.
C
But it's pretty brutal. The first alleged. First ransom note demanded millions in bitcoin and warned Savannah Guthrie that her mother's life was, quote, in her hands. There's a lot of details that are very specific about the house. It said she would be freed within 12 hours of payment. Threatened to kill her if the final deadline passed.
A
That's brutal.
C
She's still missing. What the heck is going on? Oliver? Trees. Celebration of life is tomorrow. And y' all have described him as a very, very eclectic human being. To me.
A
Sure was.
C
Talented musician, one of a kind. Unique look with the bowl cut thing. Tragic death with the helicopter crash just last month in Brazil. So this funeral celebration of life thing tomorrow, live performances. I'm seeing Logan Paul Diplo speakers, some new video content. A thing that I really am focusing on. There's gonna be three different caskets.
D
I like the that. I like this.
A
Oh.
C
One for each of his alter egos.
A
Yeah. He had three different Personas.
D
Yeah.
A
He had like the mulleted guy, a blonde. Yes.
C
Thing. Each album was a different alter ego. And they're going with this. They sold tickets to fans. It's going to stream for free on his YouTube and Twitch channels. And all of the proceeds are going to his foundation. Do you it's your celebration of life.
A
It sounds on brand.
B
Yeah.
A
That's pretty cool.
C
These are Houston's headlines.
A
That's on the music blog page today. Sports guy.
D

C
What's your name?
D
Courtney.
A
She's hanging out with my son Todd.
C
Take that, y'. All.
A
So as the freebie Friday song was playing, I'm going boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. I'm flying through the phone lines and then boom. Your caller number 10. I owed what? Never mind. What happened? You won the beer. Don't worry about it. I owed you guys. I owed you guys another case of beer. So you were sent to me like, by an angel, Michael.

Feels good.
A
It does feel good. It does feel good. Thank you, everybody, for hanging in there. Still to come today on the show as we're kind of like getting our groove back, I've got Breaking Benjamin Chevelle tickets for you on the flip of this break. So that's a great ticket. You know what's on the suburb summer sizzler is on, baby. Brought to us by Shell federal credit union. Man, feel so good for Sabrina in Willowbrook. Carmen and laporte, they're playing each other today. That's gonna go down at around 8:20. Love the phone so much. The phones are so important on Friday because we do something called open phones Friday. And that's gonna be the last hour of the show. Show. So I'm gonna have you guys all hour that whole last hour of the show. And then. You're right, Mo. People are beating me up about these Motionless and White tickets. It's so funny that you said that. I didn't hear from anybody.
C
Really?
A
Yeah. And then you asked me before you said something on the air. You said, what's going on with this band, Motionless and White? Why, like my people, your brother and stuff. People are asking you about your cousins. They're like, why are they asking me about this band? And I said, well, a lot of people really like them. Then you said on the air, it's like, wow. Personally, in my life, people are asking me about this. Now people are asking me, oops, Motionless and White. We have one pair of pit passes left for their show tomorrow night.
C
That's it, y'. All. You better win them.
A
Yeah. And that's going to be on know the show at 9:50. So guys, we're back, baby. We're back. We have those great breaking Benjamin Chevelle tickets. On the flip of this break, the Rod ryan Morning Show. 6 to 10am 94. 5 the Buzz Good Morning Rod Ryan show. I'm gonna have you gu in very soon. The phones are working for some great tickets. That boy. We're so glad that we're kind of back up with everything that we need. We have all the tools we need now. It's up to us to be good. Now. We do have all the tools now it's. Let's see if this is any good. What's trending?
D
Jon Bon Jovi's trending. He had to end his show at Madison Square Garden last night early because he said he couldn't sit. He had a sinus infection. They said they were chalking up to that, but he was. I can't sing, guys.
B
Sorry.
C
Like, he didn't want to be sweet about it.
D
Yeah. He was like, these are tickets.
C
I'm gonna figure this out.
D
Didn't want to do a disservice to them by performing less than it would be like if we were like, hey, sorry about the first hour. We're gonna redo that another time.
A
I do have. I'm a sympathizer now. Just because we like our voice went down the phones.
D
Yeah. No I get it. We, we feel you.
A
Jon Bon Jovi, he famously had vocal surgery to fix whatever problems he was having.
C
Oh really?
A
Yeah. So I wonder if it, if it took, you know, or if it. Does it have longevity? Should he stop touring?
C
Lingering issue. He has one more concert. I think it might be tonight or maybe tomorrow. So I don't know if he'll cancel that one.
A
It's one thing to like get a guitar player in there or the drummer breaks a finger or whatever, but the voice, that's your instrument. Yeah. I don't know. Yeah, yeah. You're live and die by that vocalist.
D
The Los Angeles Dodgers are trending. They visited the White House yesterday. The world champions typically visit the White House.
E
Yeah.
D
People that win championships occasionally go to the White House.
A
They gave Trump a jersey.
D
All the, all the things that they did.
A
Yeah.
D
Tom Holland is trending. He made history yesterday being the first celebrity to ever throw up on the show. Hotel ones.
C
What do they do on that show
D
where they progressively eat hotter and hotter wings? John Bernthal, it was. I think they've give. They've started doing it where it's like they're having conversations. They'll put a couple of actors and it looked like it was him and John Bernthal and they were telling funny
C
stories about each other.
D
Yeah. So like they would have to tell a story then I think you eat a wing and then you progress like that. And he threw up from his. You've had people stop. You've had people like they couldn't handle it. But nobody had thrown grown up okay before. And John Bernthal loved it. It was pretty great. Like the. I've seen the gif of them doing it and John Bernthal's like, oh yeah, my boy. Look like it's cool. It's really cool. It's funny that like somebody throwing up is this big of a story.
A
It's how I feel during the gallon challenge. It's so funny to me. Yeah. I love it sometimes. And it's like when you're doing a
D
torture challenge, like the wing thing like that. Like. Yeah, it is funny when somebody shows up. So Tom Holland shout out to him. It's cool. Not as cool as Tobey Maguire, but trending. That's what's trending on by the buzz.
A
That guy. Kudos to the host of that show. He came up with something that didn't seem like it was going to be like. It seemed like it was going to be a short lived or maybe like have a cult following. It is so mainstream. Huge celebrities, huge Massive celebrities will go on there and eat chicken wings.
D
And then you brand talk the wing sauce because now you can sell the sauce because everybody's like, I want to try it with my friends.
A
Friends.
D
And so then you make money on your wing sauce because if this is
A
the one that we.
D
This is the starter wing sauce. Then you can get the eight sauces that we use.
A
They're probably selling something called Tom Holland throw up sauce right now.
D
Oh, they're probably. They're in the, they're in the lab for sure. Scooping up the leftover throw up. They're like, throw it in a sauce.
A
All right, what do you got to give away here? Because we're gonna have people call us.
C
No more emails. I am sad because I'm responding to all 576 of them.
A
All right, true story here. What I had everybody for the fun fact flashback because our phones were down. I said email Mo and you know, she'll take the 10th email that comes in. She'll be the, they'll be the winner. Mo got like 400 emails and she's emailing every person back.
C
I feel really bad that our phones aren't working. Thanks for hanging with us. You deserve better. You're important to us. But right now we get to take caller 10 for this pair of breaking Benjamin and Chevelle tickets. They're going to be in the Woodlands October 10th. You can buy them Ticketmaster.com. but why don't you just call us? Yeah, 713-212-5945.
A
You know why? Because our phones work. Yeah, it's a miracle.
D
Whoa.
A
So I'm already in a really, really good mood. And then I just realized, oh my God, it's 7:20. Wait, what am I gonna do with my feet at 7:20? Let me get him off the carpet a little bit. Come jump around with us. Pack it up, pack it in.
E
94.
A
5 the buzz. Must be Friday weekend. Just around the corner. 94. 5 the buzz. Good morning, Rod Ryan show. Thank you for with us Fridays at around 7:20. Still fun. Still very, very fun, guys. Pretty good looking weekend here too. I mean, just let's keep the good vibes going. I'm a good vibes guy. I'm all about vibing. Nothing over a 20% chance of rain, partly cloudy skies, mid-90s topping out at mid-90s all weekend. And I saw they did tamp down some of those 100 degree predictions for next week. Still warm. But at one point when you looked at the 10 day, there was like six. They were predicting 100 degrees, so we know it's gonna happen. But it seemed like they backed off a little bit on that. So that taste of those 100 degree days this week was rough for me. Hey, good morning, Rod Ryan show.
E
Hello.
A
Oh, geez. Yeah, that little delay kind of freaks me out a little bit. Hey, who is this? Hi, this Tyler. Hi, Tyler. How are you today? I'm doing great.
E
How are you guys?
A
You know what, this is kind of like just give you an idea of, like how I feel with you on the phone right now. Yeah, keep it going. The phones are working. The phones are working. They're working. They're working. They're working. Our phones are working. Finally. They're working. They're working. They're working. I'm in a Houston's biggest miracle.
D
Literally.
A
Tyler deceased, you're calling 10, dude. Oh, are you serious? Oh, my God.
C
Thanks for hanging out.
A
I think I did all that for nothing.
E
That is great. Oh, my God. I've been trying to go.
D
I've been dead set on going to the show.
C
Well, it's happening. Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Cammy KEYHOST star, set October 10th. You already know that. In the Woodlands. Tyler, you're going to the show.
A
Oh, my. Oh, my God.
E
Oh, my God.
A
Thank you guys so much. Imagine, I did all that and I go, oh, you're caller nine.
E
I've actually experienced that heartbreak before.
C
No, not here, sir.
A
All right, Dude, Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle, those two bands, they. I said it before. They were just built to go on tour together, man. You're gonna have a great time at that show, Tyler. Thank you.
E
Oh, 100%.
A
Thank you, guys. So happy. So happy right now. Thank you, Tyler. Hang on, hang on. Pretty funny article in Business Insider. I put up a question this morning on Facebook.
C
Okay.
A
Kind of shout out to parents. What's easier, traveling with a toddler or traveling with grandparents?
C
Oh, God bless America.
A
This is really funny. I've done both things because when my mom was still. And I'm so happy that I did it. So start thinking about this before your parents get to the point where they can't really walk around around and stuff. I did surprise my mom years ago with a trip to Disney.
C
Oh, had she never been before?
A
She had never been.
C
That is precious.
A
There was no difference at all than taking my mom, seeing her with her mouse ears on, you know, in her probably late 70s then, and taking my kid, taking London, the same Disney magic. Both of them were the same. They were great. They were just. They're great experiences. Because you got to get that window right for your kid. Everybody asks, you know, what's the right age to take your kid to Disney? And I don't know, I mean, you still want them to kind of freak out when they see Cinderella. And you want them to think that that really is Cinderella 100%. That goes away like at 77 years old, you know, like 5 years old, they think that that's Cinderella and they lose their mind. The pressure. That's, that's the Disney magic. Back to this article here. So this guy, kind of cool, he's got 78 year old parents. It's kind of similar what I did. And they were going on a vacation in Tokyo and they thought they were meeting a tour guide. And it's like, ta da. He showed up and he's like, mom and dad, I'm, I'm your guy.
C
No way.
A
Yeah. So he says that he was going to vacation with his parents in Tokyo. They didn't know this. This was the big surprise. And he said it turned out to be tougher than he thought. In the art. Just a couple things that I highlighted because again, I've traveled alone with my one kid. One kid, but just me and the one kid. And it's challenging. It's a girl and I'm not a girl. There's a lot going on.
C
Challenges there. Yeah.
A
Some things that I highlighted here, if you're thinking about this, he said they couldn't get around that well. He said literally and figurative, Tokyo has like this really efficient train system and they couldn't use it because the, the mom couldn't see or maneuver well enough to use the subways. So they had to kind of deal with taxis. They struggled with ordering food. Apparently there's like all these vending machines everywhere and they weren't able to stand long enough to wait in the lines for the best places. And they, they did try a bunch of foods, but again, like a toddler, they're very picky about what they're going to eat. He said there was no difference there. And he said short rests were just not enough. He said, I thought a 50 would be long enough, but they never were. Every stop stretched to nearly an hour. And then this is the funny part, he said if the cafe had WI fi, he said both would immediately reach for their phones, just like a teenager would do.
C
Oh yeah, they gotta check their Facebook. Yes, the obituary section.
A
So, okay, my mom does. I, I think on the, on the plus side, he said, he goes, you get more, much more gratitude from the older people. Than the younger kids.
D
Okay, so they know how to give it.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They don't know yet. They just don't know yet. Yet. But the. The question on the Internet right now, and you know, he goes into, like, how his parents were so grateful for him to be doing all this, but the question on the Internet that people are talking about, what's easier, traveling with a toddler or traveling with grandparents? I don't know. They're about the same.
C
I don't know which I would pick.
A
Yeah, they're about the same. They really are. And they're two opposite ends of the spectrum. Completely.
E
Yeah.
A
That's on our Facebook page. They're talking. Talking about it. But if you just want to call. The phones work too.
D
At least let me buy you a beer.
A
When Han Solo returns to the Death Star in the Millennium Falcon and shoots down the tie fighters and saves the rebel cause, do you think he does so for a free beer boy? No. And why are you so interested in buying me something? What's your angle? It's free beer Friday on the Rod ryan show on 94. 5 the buzz. 94. 5 the buzz sublime and Ensenada Rod Ryan show on this free beer Friday case of beer that you'll be calling in to win in about 25 minutes from now. So good luck to you. It will be our third case of beer that we give away and then the fourth case, give it away straight up at 9 o'. Clock, and then boom, we go over to the phones. I love the sound of that. We'll go over to the phones and we'll have open phones Friday, you guys get to talk about whatever you want. Every time I see the phone line ringing, I just. I want to grab it. Hi. Every time I see that phone ringing, I'm just like, I don't want to waste a second anymore on these phones. I appre them so much. Yeah. Nothing over mid-90s this weekend. Nothing over a 20% chance of rain this weekend. You okay, Alex, with your FIFA World cup withdrawal? Are you back to your. Your other team? Does your other team just start playing right away?
D
No, they.
A
They got next month.
D
They start.
A
What's that?
D
They'll play next month.
A
They play next month.
E
All right.
D
I just start early because they got kicked out of the league they were in, so they had to play league with more teams.
A
Is there always soccer going on? Is there always some kind of soccer in some capacity?
D
Because all year round, like the Latin American leagues and like the MLS right now, they're going to switch over to their. Their schedule. They're going to do it more with the European schedule. But the European schedule is kind of. It starts before football ends. After football.
A
Yeah.
D
And then the MLS goes in the summers to try and combat football, but they're going to change that. So, like, Argentina and Brazil are playing their leagues now.
A
Okay. So somebody took a look and they started, like, doling out grades for the FIFA World Cup 2026. So Spain gets an A, right? They won. Enough said. Yeah. Spain gets an A, right? Cape Verde A. The outsiders became the darlings of the whole thing. I didn't. I had to look them up on a map. Did anybody else do that?
C
Oh, yeah. Back when we first heard about them.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
I already forget where it was.
A
They gave Argentina a C.
E
I did.
D
I think that's a little low.
A
Messi carried them on his back, but they looked abysmal in that final, though.
D
Still made it to the final.
A
Better than not my grading system. Argentina gets a C for making it to the finals, but tanking United States C. You agree with that? Yeah. It says reaching the final.
D
We got what we should have got.
A
Yeah. It says Reaching the final 16 was an expectation.
D
It was the minimum we could have done.
A
But that's when the difference between real containment tenders truly showed. So I agree with that.
D
We.
A
We are kind of what we thought we were. Of course, we were hoping that that Bob Denver song, that John Denver song would carry us.
D
Virginia.
A
Let's see. Germany got an F. Erling Holland got an A. Specifically.
D
He became the star of the World Cup.
A
It's his World cup debut. He was already. That's that big Viking guy, the big blonde Viking guy who already was an international star.
D
Top two or three Premier League players.
A
But this was his first World Cup.
D
Yes, Normally I qualified.
A
So this was his first time on the world stage. And then you ask anybody. Even the Beatles wanted to break it in America. The Beatles were already, you know what I mean? A thing. But when you break America, then you.
D
This is the best country in the world. So then, you know, you made it.
A
So Erling Holland broke America, you know what I mean? And now kind of was an international star. But when you're a star in America, then it just takes you to the next level.
E
He's.
A
He's like a celebrity. Super duper celebrity. Does he do more over here? Did he sign contracts? I don't know these things. But if they didn't sign him to a bunch of American Gatorade stuff and Nike and all of that, we need.
D
He Already had a lot of that
A
around the world, but not here. He needs that stuff.
D
He's move some of the brands he already had stuff with.
A
Correct.
D
They start doing it here.
A
I want to. I want to see him on TV here. I want to see him here.
C
The raccoon thing was hilarious. The cowboy hat was hilarious.
A
Like, you think he's forgettable.
D
I think most Americans in two months will not remember him. And then you'll see a picture like,
A
oh, that's the guy from World Cup.
C
Yeah, the raccoon guy.
D
It's the Ilona Mar Rugby Olympic girls.
A
Oh, hey, that's the girl from the Everything.
D
Put her on stage with the Backstreet Boys. But you forget about her until you see her in something.
C
Yeah.
D
Because most Americans don't really care about soccer. So you'll see that guy on Man City and you're like, hey, that's the dude.
A
Lionel Messi was given a B, even though he showed up huge. Except for.
D
How is he not an A? If Argentina got a C because he carried them, he would get the A.
A
Then he got a B. He showed up huge. Except for when it mattered.
D
He had the second most goals in the whole tournament.
A
Christian Paul got a D. Who is he?
D
Captain. They called him Captain America. We don't call him that anymore. He was supposed to be the leader of this team. And he missed a couple of games. Kind of whiny, baby, about going out in the Belgium game. And now he's talking to Megan.
A
More Cristiano Ronaldo. D. Yeah, he's a little. He got a. He got a grade of A D. Playing in a World cup at 41. Amazing.
D
Amazing.
A
Did he help his team?
D
Shouldn't have been a starter, but he wanted to be a starter. Didn't really contribute.
A
All right, well, I think that's officially our. Probably our last World cup break here on this show. But it was fun while it was going on, for sure. 94. 5, the buzz Good morning Rod Ryan show. I'm, like, lukewarm on the. The Kings of Liam. I was telling Mo, I said, seeing that song right there. Sex on Fire performed live. Live. It's like. It's like going to church. The dynamics of the song, how it's down. And then when they do the Sex on Fire part, the lights come on and the play. Like, girls are just peeling off their clothes. Not really. In my mind, I'm thinking, God, right now is the time. And, like, you know, I'm standing next to my friend Pete, like, it's a bad time to be standing next to a dude.
C
Oh, geez.
A
Good morning, everybody. Rod Ryan show free beer Friday. We're gonna go to the fun phones and give away another case of beer. And then we're gonna use the phones to play the suburb summer Sizzler. Next hour, Willowbrook takes on LaPorte. Sizzling all week. Thank you to our friends, Shell Federal Credit Union. Let's see anything over a 20. Chance of rain this weekend. It's great. Making outdoor plans. Go ahead. Mid 90s all weekend long. Mo. What you got, Houston? Headlines.
C
President Trump is announcing a pledge from major utilities companies saying consumers will not bear the extra electricity costs of AI data centers across the U.S. yeah, why should we? He's calling it the ratepayer protection pledge. And apparently he has all these tech companies signed up to build their own power plants and fund the running of them. Companies that operate these data centers continue to break ground, especially across Texas. And a new survey that is also in the headlines today from the University of Texas in Austin shows that 56% of Texans are opposed to construction of data centers in their communities.
A
All right, well, the incredible edible egg.
C
We know the FDA can't seem to pinpoint the cause of the poop lettuce outbreak, but they would like you to take a look at your eggs.
A
Don't mess with my eggs.
C
I'm sorry. Yesterday you were all in on eggs.
A
I just bought some.
C
This week you wanted a Riley Green egg.
A
Riley Green. Holy cow, is that man handsome.
C
And he eats 12 a day.
A
14. Yes, 14 eggs. That's how I found. I found an article about this country guy that looks like a jacked Marlboro man. He eats 14 eggs in the morning. It'd be like if Harry Styles had muscles and a mustache.
C
Okay, there you go. Well, these eggs are contaminated with salmonella. The recall covers over 1.5 million dozen of eggs produced at one of the company's Texas farms. So if you bought them recently at Kroger, Brookshire's, other smaller grocery stores. Checking the carton code, that's where I
A
shopped this week for my eggs.
C
So much to celebrate today. I know it's National Tequila Day, but it's also national drive through Day. And in celebration, I shocked y' all this morning when I first told you you that the fastest drive thru in America for the fifth year in a row is Taco Bell. We thought it was Chick fil a. We all thought it.
A
Everyone leads me to believe they're efficient, they're friendly.
C
Overall satisfaction, they rank number one for all the other things. But they are actually the slowest when it comes to time.
A
Are they getting dinged because they get the most volume through that? I see cars through the parking lot into the street sometimes.
C
I mean, that would be a ding if you're counting time.
A
Yeah.
C
Right from order to.
A
Yeah. It's not their fault they're so popular.
C
It's not their fault. It's kind of an interesting study.
A
When was the last time anybody went through a. A Taco Bell drive thru?
D
Like Thanksgiving? Cuz I got the Baja Blast, I would say.
A
Did you get that pie? That's right.
C
You did this month, like the last 30 days.
A
What you get?
C
I love Taco Bell. I love the Mexican pizza.
A
Yeah.
C
No tomatoes. It's the best.
A
You tell them no tomatoes.
C
I do.
A
Oh, they spit in that thing for sure.
E
Oh, absolutely.
C
And it tastes delicious.
A
That broad with the no tomatoes is here again.
C
Thank you. May I have another Comic Con currently in full swing in San Diego and yesterday Johnny Depp surprised fans. He was there. He was in his full Ebenezer Scrooge costume. He's doing that new Ebenezer movie. So he's surrounded by Christmas carolers. He's very in character. Even did like a humbug before leaving. That's him though, right? He does that.
A
I. I kind of crapped on Johnny Depp for the longest time. Well, then my kids started getting into the. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies. And he, he's great. He is great.
C
He is a character.
A
He's just an acquired taste fair for me with the dumb voices. And it's the same thing where I kind of slam Adam Sandler. It's like I can't handle whatever they do. Whatever it is that they do drives me crazy.
C
That's for sure.
A
But I'm open to it now, I guess.
C
Well, ebenezer hits theaters November 13th.
A
Rod, is he a great, great actor? Is Johnny Depp one of our greatest
D
actors as a pirate?
C
Yes, I think so. He gets a lot of roles, important roles.
A
I mean, he had to come up with that character for. Let's just use the pirates. Yeah, he had to come up with that guy.
C
What do you mean?
A
The way that he talked, the way that he ran, the way that wasn't written for him. Yeah. Like he's got to do a deep dive into immersion, how he wants to do it. They're like, hey, we want you to be a pirate. We have a few suggestions. Suggestions. But just like the original guy that was the pirate, the guy that played Blackbeard back in the day, went r Matey, that guy came up with all that stuff. That guy came up with that pirates did not talk like that. They did not say, ARR. We do know. We do know for sure. Yeah. My friend does the pirate tour in New Orleans, in the French Quarter. He knows. He knows. And then, ergo, through osmosis, I know everything about pirates now.
C
That's awesome.
A
And yeah, that guy came up with the way that he talked. Same thing with Bela Lugosi. He came up with that I want to drink your blood.
D
Oh, yeah.
A
Like Bela Lugosi came up with that vampires weren't real. So you have a guy like Johnny Depp that has created characters legendary. So ergo, best actor. Is he one of our best actors? I would have never said that 10 years ago.
C
New Rod Corin gave us some wedding pictures. Yes. Yesterday, their lead singer, Jonathan Davis, got himself a wifey. The singer wed a jewelry Designer, Brittany Pari, July 3rd. They just posted the pictures yesterday, calling it the perfect fairy tale they'll never forget. You're gonna love this. Because he wore a kilt and walked into a bagpiper. You love kilts. Just admit you are who you are.
A
I have. I own a couple kilts.
C
Chili also loves kilts.
A
Does he? I've never seen him in a kilt.
D
Chili's Scottish. Can't you tell?
C
Loves people wearing kilts. He always sends us pictures.
A
I don't think he has one, though. Christmas gifts, anybody? Somebody getting killed for Christmas. The whole show is.
C
Those are Houston's headlines.
A
Take it, Alex.
D
The Astros are back in action. Tonight they're gonna open up a weekend series with the White Sox. Spencer Arrighetti will be on the mound for the Stroz. Going up against Chicago's Davis. Martin first pitches at 6:40. You can listen to it on our sister Station Sports Talk 790. We got a lot of soccer going on in town this weekend. Tonight the dash hosts Bay FC. That'll start at 7 o' clock and you can watch it on Amazon Prime Video. And then tomorrow night, Houston Dynamo FC takes on Austin FC at Shell Energy Stadium. That'll kick off at 7:30 and you can watch that one on Apple TV. That is what's going on in sports.
A
There you go. Every time I say, man, soccer's over, you know, the World Cup's over. I get it. I get two emails. Dude, soccer this weekend.
D
Yeah.
A
I mean, if you love what you saw, come see.
D
Not as good quality. Dude.
A
I was just trying to pump it.
D
I was just trying to gas it up good.
A
If you Feel like. Hey, man, I kind of like this soccer stuff. Keep it going. This weekend, Houston's rocking alternative the Rod ryan Morning show.
C

Oh, yes, women are glad the Friday's here. Free bear Friday. You got the free bear Friday. You got the free bear Friday. You got the free bear Friday. Free bear Friday. You got free bear Friday. You got free bear Friday. You got a free bear Friday. Good morning. Rod Ryan show.
D
Good morning.
A
Well, hello.
D
Who's this? This is Kelly.
A
Kelly, can I say how great you sound on the phone right now? Can I tell you that? Oh, you know. Oh, thank you.
E
You don't know how excited I am.
A
You sound so good on that phone. The phone to me. I'll never ever. I'll never, ever take a phone for granted for the rest of my life. You're caller number 10.
D
Yes.
E
Awesome.
A
Congratulations. We're gonna hook you up with the third case of beer today.
E
Where are you from?
A
From Kelly from Deer Park. All right, Deer park on the board. Way to go. Enjoy your beers. Have an awesome weekend.
C
Thank you.
E
You too.
A
Oh, thank you. Thank you so much. Kelly. Hang on for me, Chili. Take care of her. She sounds cool.
E
Funny.
A
I'M listening to the Free Beer Friday song, the old school one. This one here.
E
Friday
A
friend Scott, he made that for me a long, long time ago. And I, I was in a band with him, okay. Silly long hair and all that, you know what I mean? When I was trying to be in a band, try to be a band guy.
C
Right.
A
So he made that for me and London. I got to see my friend Scott. He still lives back home. When I was back home. Yeah. So we went out and, and I was doing a FaceTime with London because I was out and she was with her aunt sue. And I said, she's like, well, where's Mr. Scott? And I said, over here. So I get him on the phone and she goes, you know, I can sing the Free Bear Friday song better than you. And he goes, go ahead. And then she goes into it and it's, it's horrible. It's not good, but magical. But she just, she gets up. I can't sing.
C
I can't.
A
I can't sing.
C
I heard you sing earlier.
D
Hallelujah.
A
I had an out of body experience. I was so excited that the phones were working. I couldn't.
C
Is there any way we can play
D
that again and again and again podcast later?
A
Yeah, but that's, that's the thing that I sometimes interviewing singers, one of the questions that it's like a go to for me, I'm like, could you always sing? It's. It's not fair. You're born with that. I know you can learn to sing, you can learn to play, you can learn to play as long as you have, have the, the, the fingers and the hands, the thing. You can learn the piano, you can learn, you know, talking to Tom Morello, my favorite guitar player, and talking about putting in those 10,000 hours to become a guitar virtuoso. But there was something. He was already kind of gifted. He got, he picked it up quickly and he didn't start early. Tom Morello didn't start playing guitar till he was like 17, I think.
C
No way.
A
Yeah. 16, 17.
C
Leave your kids alone.
A
Which is late. Right. But singers, they just can do it.
C
Yeah.
A
And there's very few singers that said they had to learn to do what they. Now you get better and you learn techniques and you sing the right way. You don't sing from your throat, you, you sing from your, from your belly.
C
But you know, like, you know, right now, when your kid is like 6, if they're good or not.
A
I think, really, I think singers can just kind of see, sing by my kid's. Age crap. I think if she's gonna.
D
What about those actors that, like, didn't Bradley Cooper do whatever the Lady Gaga movie he was in? He, like, had to learn how to sing, though. He, like, learned, though.
A
I don't think he. But there's. There's a base.
D
You gotta have it in you, I
A
guess there's a base there that you can sing.
C
Yeah, you can either do, like, the rock.
D
The rock had to kind of learn
A
how to sing, but there was something there. There had to be something. I don't think you can take somebody from nothing to. To something. That's hilarious. I. I don't think so.
C
Get it, though.
A
You can absolutely take somebody that has never even seen a guitar before, and then in six months, they'll be able to noodle something. I. You either can or can't with singing. I think I really do. The difference between me and my kids singing, it's like, okay, little pitchy dog. Like, I'm critical.
C
Nice.
A
When I'm singing, I cannot hit the note. I know that. I'm not hitting the notes.
C
Oh, yes.
A
There's nothing worse than a singer singing along and thinking that they're hitting the notes. I don't have that right.
C
Like on American Idol.
A
I know.
C
Like, why didn't anyone tell you that you suck.
A
I know when I'm hitting a flat note. I know when I can't hit. I hear it.
C
Awareness.
A
But why can't I. If I. I could recognize it, but I can't get there.
C
You physically can't do it.
A
And that's what my kids got. So her version of Freebie Friday. I'm sparing you of it. It's bad. It's bad.
D
Do you have.
A
I didn't record it one day. I didn't record it. It's weird. When I put a microphone in front of her, then it's all of a sudden, it's not cool anymore.
C
My kids are the same.
A
She'll run around and be a goofball and sing her face off.
C
She does a national anthem every night before dinner. But if I put a microphone in front of her, she's done.
A
My kid is obsessed with singing the national anthem.
C
Mine, too.
A
My kid.
D
Excuse you guys.
C
Literally every night before dinner, my kid's
A
obsessed with singing the national anthem.
C
But if I'm like, hey, you want to do it in an Astros game? They're like, she was singing it in
A
the car for about 35 minutes yesterday. Back to back to back. I don't know what it is.
C
I don't sing it.
A
And I'm working with her. I'm like, you got to hit this note.
C
Here's the wrong word.
A
In the home of the brain. I said, you got your little pitchy dog. Real pitchy dog. Did you call me dog, dad?
D
Yeah.
C
Showed it, baby girl.
A
Randy Jackson. Okay, look him up. We're gonna let the pros do the singing. We're gonna let the bands do the bas landing. We're gonna let you be the musical expert and tell me what the band is and what the song is. You guys ready? The Suburb Summer Sizzler. Our 6th year Shell Federal Credit Union. Thank you. Thank you so much. They gave us $6,000 to give to you and today's players. So Sabrina from Willowbrook. Do I have the right names? Do you have the same names that I do?
C
Yes.
A
Sabrina from Willowbrook and Cameron from LaPorte. Yes. Okay, that's who's gonna be playing. So Chili's working on getting them on the phone. They're gonna be on with us after this break. And we're gonna sizzle. And one of them goes home. Laporte, Willowbrook. One of them will advance in the brackets and get closer to that. $5,000 rock and alternative for Houston.
C
The rod RYA 6 to 10am the buzz 94.
A
Five the buzz. Good morning Rod Ryan show. Free beer Friday, baby. I got another case of beer coming up for you at 9 o' clock and then we'll flip the phones over to all you and it'll be open phones Friday, so you know how much I look forward to that. Alex. Something different about you today. You don't look as cool as you did yesterday. What happened? Oh, you're wearing a Rod Reinshurst shirt yesterday. Yeah, I didn't notice.
C
I couldn't put my finger on it.
A
Hey, it's Friday. Maybe some of you are getting paid today. Maybe hit up the Rob Ryan Show Cares online store. Yeah, I've only got a couple more weeks. Like two. The store closes like maybe next week's or last week. Yeah, we're passing out backpacks on August 1st. Yeah, we're running out of time. If you haven't picked up your Rod Ryan show. Summer merch. Please. It's trending. No, it's not. But I just made it.
D
That should be Charlie. XCX is trending. She's got a new album out today called Music, Film and Fashion. I like her. Not really familiar with her work.
A
I, I, I don't listen to her. But she, she seems like a, like a Lady Gaga type. Where I'm fascinated by them. They seem like a true artist. And the few things that I have seen about her, I. She seems like she really knows what she's doing. And the stuff that I've heard is very catchy. I couldn't. I couldn't hum your song right now.
D
I don't know any songs.
A
Yeah, she seems cool. She seems like a rocker.
D
Okay.
A
You know, like Gaga is a rocker underneath all that.
D
Speaking of rocker, Strokes and the Head and the Heart also have new albums out today too, so. Well, just Charlie xcx, but they're not trending.
A
Your other. Your other boyfriend, Alex. Oh, that's his favorite.
D
I could not mention that. Johnny Depp, still trending, appeared at the San Diego Comic Con and was writing his new movie, Ebenezer. He's going to play Scrooge. And then Hulk Hogan is trending. It's been one year since Hulk Hogan passed away.
A
Him and Ozzy were back to back week.
D
Didn't realize that the guy that could have had the George Foreman grill had he answered the phone.
A
Yeah, that's true. That's a true story.
D
That's crazy.
A
Him and Ozzy were back to back.
D
Yeah, I. I didn't realize that either until, like, this week, I think it was Tuesday was the anniversary of Ozzy's passing.
E
Yeah.
D
Ozzy feels like he was like two months ago.
A
That's crazy.
D
Yeah, that's what Trini and I go by the buzz. And after that.
A
All right. I love that. We go right into the game. I want sometimes waiting that song.
D
Yeah.
A
Here we go. These guys are like, Rod, calm down. It's just three minutes away. No, we're playing right now. Let me say hi to Sabrina. Sabrina, good morning. Hey, good morning, Rod. Sabrina, talk to me. Are you amped up? I'm excited for you.
C
I'm amped and nervous.
A
Don't be nervous. No, no, no, no.
C
Just us.
A
They let tools like us on the radio. Anybody can do this. Sabrina, you're representing Willowbrook?
C
Yes, sir.
A
I've had some good parties in Willowbrook over my years here. Oh, yeah, I've had some good parties at Willowbrook.
D
Shout out to the aerodrome.
A
Oh, the aerodrome was in Willowbrook.
C
Yeah.
A
Sabrina, how do you get ready for this game? Fish woke up, prepared, prayed, and you know I'm ready. Yeah, just pray. Yeah, just pray.
C
Sabrina, the Lord.
E
Let's go.
A
You're gonna have to shout out your name. When you think you know the name of the song and the artist, you're gonna have to shout out your name. Right?
C
Yeah.
A
Okay. And then I'm gonna ask the same of Cameron in LaPorte. Cameron, good morning. Oh, Cameron, I don't like the sound of that phone. It's. What do you got going on there? Talk to me. I'm good.
E
Can you hear me?
A
Yeah, I heard. I heard you now. You sound good. You came on a little. You sound good, Cameron. I don't know. Just make your adjustments. Cameron, tell me about yourself. I've been asking people if is it just. Are you basing this on. Hey, I've been listening to the Buzz. I know all the these songs. Some people practice. What is your approach to playing the suburb Summer Sizzler. Representing everybody in laporte and I, we were just basically practicing. She would play some songs and then I would try to guess them.
C
Cute together.
A
I'm going to get into the game cuz I'm just slightly worried about your phone. Cameron. I, I don't know if. Listen, I want you to be safe, but if it sounds like an earpiece or something or is it speakerphone? I. I don't know. I. I don't like the sound of your phone.
D
Do you mind if I, if I, if I get in here before we start?
A
Yeah, please.
D
Just everybody playing today, don't forget that this will be where you call your name out.
C
Oh, thank you.
D
Want to call your name out. If you think you know the song, you know the name and the, the band.
C
You shout out your name, you say your name.
D
We're not going to like play it and then go to you guys. You have to, you know, weigh in.
A
That's how you win. Sabrina, you good?
E
Yeah.
A
Cameron, you good? I'm good. Okay. You sound good. You sound good. I don't know, maybe it's just me. All right, I'm gonna play you a song. It's a very, very, very popular song here. When you say your name, you have to give me. You got about three seconds. You got to give me the name of the band and the name of the song. If you get it wrong, the other person advances for doing nothing. Just give me that in mind. And it hasn't happened all week. So here we go. Sabrina and Cameron, here is your day five Sizzler song. Good luck,
E
Cameron.
A
Cameron. It's a coachable pilot.
E
2 no.
A
Did not get it. Dude, you were so close.
C
I hate it. I hate it so much.
A
Here's what happened. Cameron.
C
I hate it so much.
E
Yes, sir.
A
If the song was called Interstate, you'd be the winner. Interstate buzzer. Love song. Cameron, I know you knew the Song in. Didn't get it. You didn't get it in. In time. Sabrina.
C
Sabrina. Yes, sir.
A
Sabrina, you just won the game. Y did you know it don't lie. No, No, I didn't. I need to get past.
C
I need to get past the guitar. Maybe then after. Yeah.
A
Such a recognizable guitar.
D
You.
C
You lycs.
A
That just crushed me. That just crushed me. That he didn't get it in. In time.
D
Yeah, he was really close, too.
A
Cameron, I love you. I love you, Cameron. I. I swear I do. It's all right. All right, Sabrina. Okay, girl, you're advancing in the brackets. You got to practice. You got to practice.
D
Listen to that.
A
Listen to that guitar.
C
You got it.
D
How do you not know it?
A
Yeah, it's. It's interstate love song. Sabrina, you advance in the brackets. Congratulations.
C
Thank you.
E
Thank you.
A
Thank you. You come back a suburb. Some suburb. Sizzler machine in the next round. All right, Stone temple pilots. Interstate love song. 945 the buzz. 94. 5 the buzz. I feel horrible. You know what I like. Boy, am I running the gamut of emotions on this show today. Okay.
C
It really has been a roller coaster, hasn't it?
A
Let me tell you, the ups and the downs and why I love it. But this morning we were having some technical problems, so I was. Didn't sound quite the way that I was before that Suburb summer sizzler play. I hated doing that to him. He didn't get the song title in.
C
Yeah.
A
Interstate love song. Interstate buzzer. Love song. I knew he knew it. You got to get in there quickly. That just. I died a little bit. I just died a little bit. I want to do that to somebody. That guy knew. And I appreciate her honesty. She goes, rod, I really didn't know that song. She advances in the tournament. Chili brought us in next week's live lineup for the suburb summer sizzler.
C
Everything okay?
A
Heather and Conroe is going to be taking on Christopher in Katie k town making their first appearance in this year's suburb summer sizzler. And then I see Missouri's most city and humble is lined up for Tuesday. So Alex and I, I don't know if you felt the same same way like Ozzy osbourne. It's been one year. It was one year on the 22nd. This is the anniversary of Hulk Hogan's death. One year. And in the middle of that, Chuck Mangione. We lost him. Thank you, Jim.
D
You have nothing left.
A
Thank you, Jim. This is the great. The late, great Chuck Mangione. Yeah, that was the three I Say
C
the threes, they come in threes.
A
That was the three, though.
D
Boy, do that.
A
You're like, who's Chuck, man? Joni, you gotta stop. Okay. Bigger than both of those other two names. He is a flugel hornist.
C
I got that. I remember. I remember talking about it.
A
Flugelhornist.
C
Yeah, from Buffalo. We got some trumpet people that are passionate.
A
Well, that's great if you talk to trumpet people. But did you talk to anybody that plays the flugel horn?
D
Flugel Hornets represented, please.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ozzy and Hogan is freaking me out. That. That was a year ago. Wow. Rod Ryan.
C
Dude.
A
What? Ice Cream man. Ice cream man on 94. 5 the buzz. 94. 5 the buzz.
E
Good morning.
A
Rod Ryan show. Three days grace. Kill me fast. Thank you so much for hanging out with us on this free beer Friday. There is another case of beer coming your way. Thank you to Specs for hooking us up with the beers to pass along to you. Our fourth and final case is coming up at 9:00'.
C
Clock.
A
While I'm not talking about it, the Rod Ryan Show Cares online store. It's Friday. It is Friday. Some of you are getting paid today. That's my reminder to maybe. Hey, you haven't gotten around to it yet. I get it. We're all busy. Maybe you've been on the road. Maybe your road trip in the summer or whatever. But we caught up with you finally. And. Oh, you. Oh, yeah. Rob Ryan's show. They got all those new T shirts. Boy, you should have saw Alex yesterday, man. Spotlights were on him. Lightning bolts. He looked like a unicorn in here. He looks so great in that Rod Ryan show T shirt. You too can get those shirts. Safe, secure Shopping. More on that safe, secure shopping online. The world famous Rod Ryan show page@thebuzz.com I'd appreciate you dropping in there if you don't want any T shirts. Koozies, hats, water bottles. You could drop a donation in there. That would be cool. You can do that.
C
Help us get these backpacks.
A
I say that because I. I want you to shop with confidence. Safe, secure shopping online. It's all about security when you're online now.
C
Okay, what happened?
A
Well, there's. Google is getting a new selfie video sign in option.
C
Okay.
A
I haven't even figured out what a pass key is yet. Where do they put all your passwords
D
on one thing so somebody gets your pass key. They have every password.
A
Yeah. I need you to sit me down after the show. Just say, okay, old man.
D
I don't do it. I don't do it.
A
Give me a pass key tutorial. I keep getting asked. So we might be talking about like three factor authentication.
C
Yeah.
A
Right now I freak out. I, I, there's a couple of sites. Are you guys using that Google authenticator at all or it's like the goes tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. You got this much time to get the code?
D
No, yeah, yeah, I've used it before.
A
Okay. So when I got it right now, I guess I only use it for if I wanted to go sneak on the back end of the store to see like if anybody's buying anything.
E
Okay.
A
I'll log on and then it'll say, okay, we've sent something to your Google authenticator and I gotta go get the code there.
C
Okay. It's kind of like when we sign into our work email.
D
Yeah, yeah.
C
Authenticator.
A
Yeah.
D
Today I had to start authenticating every hour. That's really glad that we could do that. That's really fun.
C
Sure you want to bring this up, Brad?
A
So Google Accounts is getting a new selfie video sign in option. Just like you store your fingerprint, it'll be a selfie video for reference where you show different angles of your face. It'll only take you a few seconds to do so. You'll look ahead, you'll move the camera around your face like you do when you're taking a selfie and you're maybe looking for like a good angle and it's gonna get. And because of AI.
C
Huh?
A
This might be the next thing.
C
Scan.
A
Scanning your face and you're going around and you're getting to different angles. It could be set up on a laptop, it could be done on your phone.
C
We do it with our fingers on a MacBook.
A
Yeah. So if you're locked out of your Google account in the future, you, you can take another selfie video and they'll match your video against the same selfie. Now I can only imagine what I'm going to look like in that video because I'm freaking out because I'm, I'm on my 10th authentication. I'm not gonna look anything like the guy that like took the original video. Probably not.
C
Probably not.
A
But it says it's just another layer of security to help prevent these deep fakes right now. And these other, I guess, impersonation attempts that are happening, they're, they're just constantly trying to come up with stuff. So I, you know, know, I don't think this is any, I don't think it's deviant of Google. It's just, they think that this is the next thing trying to be progressive. I looked it up, okay? For years I've been seeing in movies, sci fi. Eye scanners.
C
Yeah.
A
Okay, I looked it up. Your eye. The color part of your eye is similar to a fingerprint. It's unique. Okay, so the eye scanner thing is a real thing. Why are you we using that?
C
Do they use it in government buildings?
A
I only see it in movies.
C
I only see it.
A
I've only. I've only seen it in movies. Now you're worried that there's going to be something that's a laser that's going
C
to cut your eye out.
E
Doing it.
D
I'm just not doing it, all right?
C
He's not.
D
Key cards.
A
I use my damn key card. Like, why?
D
We don't need to reinvent this. Chill out.
A
Who's the oldest guy in the show? Alex. Well, like, when I go pay my cable bill, I have to do a seven factor authentication.
D
Like, if he wants. Like, what are you doing?
A
He's watching.
E
Wound up.
A
He's wound up.
C
Do you want my money or not?
A
Listen, I don't want you yelling at me when you're explaining a pass key to me later. I don't want you yelling at me like that.
D
Just write it down in a notepad.
A
Has anybody ever used an eye thing? Is that a. Is that a thing? Eye scanner?
C
Not that I can think of.
A
You use clear. Right. But that's just a. That's just a picture of your face when you're going through TSA and stuff.
C
Yeah, same with your phone. It's your whole face.
A
I exclusive. Like, I've never used, like an eye exclusive. I've been. I've been fingerprinted before.
D
Yeah, I've been fingerprinted.
C
When you carry. Yeah, when you're carrying.
E
Hold on.
A
You've been fingerprinted before?
C
When I. Yeah, to get my concealed firearm.
A
Oh, okay.
E
Yeah.
C
Oh, I've never been to jail, Rod.
A
Oh, okay. I've been fingerprinted for that.
C
The only time I went to jail was to get my candy scanned as a trip child.
D
Don't you have to. For your driver's license?
A
Fingerprints.
D
You have to do fingerprint.
A
No. Is that just me? Yeah. Cuz you probably walked in there screaming.
C
No, they're like, this guy needs to be in the system.
D
Yeah, I got my driver's license and I was in jail. It's fine. He taught me driver's ed.
A
All right. I don't know if anybody's seen it yet, but it's called selfie video. Google accounts the new selfie video sign in option. You could be being asked if you want to do that. Houston Rock.
D
Houston's alternative all day.
A
And the Rod ryan Morning show.
C
94. 5 the buzz.
A
Here we go. 4, 5 the buzz. Rod Ryan show. Free beer. Friday. We got another case of beer headed your way from our friends over at Specs. So we'll take. We'll take phone calls on that. Mo. People will call in, try to win, and then I'll utilize the phones, which I'll never take for granted ever again. We'll utilize the phones and open phones Friday. You guys get the whole last hour. Now, where are those motion white tickets? I promised everybody that we had five pair this week. Mo, we've not come through with five pair of tickets.
C
What should we do?
A
It's emotionless and white.
D
Where are they?
C
I see them here on Know the Show.
A
Oh, last thing we're doing before we get out of here.
E
Yeah.
A
Okay. So, yeah. Before we leave. Chili. What a kook.
D
Yes.
A
He put a cook. Yeah, he. He put him on. On Know the Show. So, yeah, we'll get you in the pit for tomorrow night's show before we get out of here today. But right now we got Mo and Houston's headlines.
C
Thank you. S. Trump announcing a pledge from major utilities companies saying consumers will not bear the extra electricity costs of all these AI data centers that are expanding across the US he's calling it the ratepayer protection pledge, and it's meant to reduce that burden of these potentially skyrocketing electrical bills for all of us. Companies that operate these data centers are continuing to break ground across Texas. There's another headline with a new survey from UT Austin that shows that 56% of Texans are opposed to construction of data centers in their communities. What began as a reported shoplifting at a Galleria area store ended in tragedy. You've probably seen the headline this morning, but two women were killed after they ran across the Southwest Freeway following a police chase that began with shoplifting at this Old Navy store right here. Rod. Police said officers were called, reported shoplifting. Police found the vehicle, attempted a traffic stop, and that's where things all went wrong.
A
Obviously, they just stopped the car in the middle of the freeway.
C
Yeah. And they all said, got out of the car.
A
The best option right now is to stop the car, run, and then everybody get out in the middle of a busy freeway and try to make it across.
C
Not only did you ruin your family's
A
lives
C
and the people that hit you's lives.
A
Yeah, everybody's messed up over.
C
This Japanese company has created refresh refrigerators for humans. And let me explain before you go all Dayline NBC on me.
A
Okay. This seems dangerous.
C
These are refrigerators for you to cool down in because it is hot as hell.
A
Yeah.
C
Okay.
A
Little chill stations.
C
It's a little chill station that you can get in your home.
A
Yeah.
C
A personal cooling cabinet, if you will. You climb in, you sit on a built in seat, you enjoy air that is cooled to approximately 41 degrees Fahrenheit. And it's kind of like hot tub jets. It's got this air that's directed towards your head and your neck and your shoulders and your back. All those points that are going to cool you down quickly.
A
It looks like a commercial refrigerator that you would see one that was just had a clear glass door and it was all full of beers, drinks. Yeah, you know, commercial.
C
That's what it looks like.
A
But it's just the bench seat in
C
there and it costs you $9,200 hundred dollars.
A
Alex said it looked like a personal sauna, but reverse.
D
Yeah, it's a reverse sauna.
A
Yeah.
C
Rich people have those.
A
How much?
C
$9,200.
A
Keep some beers in there. Need a fridge, dude. Like it's a fridge.
C
What's stopping people?
A
All it is is a refrigerator with a bench seat.
D
Take out the shelves in your fridge and then just go sit.
C
We don't condone that cuz we don't know.
A
But that's what I don't understand the whole thing about. Like years ago, when you would throw a refrigerator away, you had to by law take the. The door off so some kid didn't go in there and suffocate.
C
I didn't know that either.
D
You.
A
Oh yeah. You couldn't just throw a refrigerator. You couldn't put a refrigerator.
D
Refrigerator all the time.
A
As a child, you couldn't put one out at the curb like a. Like a garbage. This was when I was growing up. You had to by law remove the door. So this looks like you can go in there and not breathe. Well.
C
Oh, you get a little suffocating feeling.
A
That's what I'm feeling.
C
Surely they figure that out.
A
For $9,000 they better figure out how I can breathe in there.
C
You're right. You might have noticed that Nancy Guthrie is back in the headlines. Yeah. We still haven't found her, but her alleged first ransom note has become public.
A
Do. Because a lot of fakes were coming in and a lot of people were trying to come in and grasp money.
C
Yeah.
A
Do they feel the experts. I don't know you deep dive all of this. The. The ransom note that's out there, which is brutal. This one, do they feel like these. This one's legit. Do they feel like it's from the person that really did have her mom?
C
They took it seriously.
A
Yeah. Yeah. But I guess they don't know for sure.
C
For sure. Yeah.
A
Okay.
C
Yeah. And no one has like. None of the authorities have made any comment about the authenticity of this one. But it was considered the first ransom and it is brutal. Like the details. Making one puke.
A
Can anybody get it? Or did this podcast get some kind of. Some kind of an exclusive?
C
I kind of am wondering if it's one of the TMZ ones and somehow it got leaked to these crime junkie girls. I'm wondering that. Oliver Tree, Celebration of Life is Tomorrow. Y' all have just described him to me as a very eclectic human. And you can tell that just by looking at pictures of him.
A
Yeah, he's a weird dude.
C
Talented musician, but unique. Yeah, right. Tragically died. This whole celebration of life tomorrow. I'm reading about the live performances. We got Logan Paul. We got Diplo speaking video content. This headline though, there's gonna be three different caskets. Rod.
D
Nice.
C
Because he had alter egos.
A
He sure did. Like his regular alter. His regular ego was just a weird guy which. A bowl cut. Wearing parachute pants.
C
Yeah.
A
Then he had the mulleted guy and then. I don't know, he had like four or five different characters that he did. He was a really unique person.
D
He was a country guy too. For a second. He.
A
He did do a country album. You're right.
C
So this is perfect for a celebration of life. You can actually stream it on YouTube and Twitch. They sold tickets to his fans. Money goes to his foundation. May he rest in peace. Those are Houston's headlines.
A
Go ahead, Alex.
D
The Astros are back in action. Tonight they're going to open up a week in series with the White Sox. Spencer Arrietty will be on the mound for this drill. Is going up against Chicago's Davis Martin. First pitches at 640. You can listen to it on our sister Station Sports Talk 790. We got a lot of soccer going on in town this weekend. Tonight the dash Host Bay FC. That's going to start at 7 o' clock and you can watch on Amazon Prime Video. And then tomorrow night, Houston Dynamo FC is going to take on Austin FC at Shell Energy Stadium. That'll kick off at 7:30. You can watch that one on Apple TV. That is its car going on in Sports Houston's rock. Houston's alternative and home of the Rod Ryan Morning Show.

D
Yeah.
A
Where did the cracker guy come from?
C
He's never leaving.
A
I love that. That's just a button away. It's a cracker I love having.
C
I should have played that for you
A
at 6:00am Oh, I could have used it. Now, Chris, Chris, you're on open phones. I'm out of beer today. That's just.
B
Just fine.
A
That's okay. I can't win the beer anyway, cuz I'm playing the Sizzler on Monday for Katie. Okay. Okay.
C
There he is.
A
Do I need to look up the population of Katy, Texas? There's a lot of people out there, dude. You there are. You're the best that Katie has. You're the best. Well, I. I better be. I've been studying so nice. Am I wasting my time asking the. These Sizzler. Sizzler players if they're practicing? They've all told me no. One guy said yeah. One guy said yeah. He was practicing his wife. You know, I have spreadsheets. Every song you guys play, color coded to whether or not I know it or not.
E
Maybe.
A
And then study. Oh, my God. So that's.
C

C
He did.
A
He's been practicing.
C
Come spend your lunch hour with me and Christopher.
A
Maybe. What time?
C

Like, you have to type them. Yeah, I can sing the song.
D
Yeah, that's.
A
Give me a little.
C
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Al. California, Colorado, Connecticut.
D
So if you know that song.
C
But I don't know if I can spell them all.
A
I don't know.
D
Yeah, see, that's the hard part. But if you know that song, you're kind of a cheat code. That's when you.
A
Wait a minute. Do your kids know that song? No, my kid doesn't. I don't know that song.
C
We should work on it.
D
Wow, dude. Because they didn't teach them in Canada.
A
Vancouver. Moose dropped Porsche Kek.
D
So, yeah, this will be tough for you, Rod. Mo, thankfully you studied here in America. You know how to do this. Check it out. See how fast you can alphabetically list the states at the what Fish R Show page. The Buzz dot com.

He's doing the whole Thing. The whole time he's talking, I'm like, God damn. What does this Heather girl think? Let's ask her.
C
You're joking.
A
She heard. She's here on the phone. Heather.
C
Heather.
A
Hey.
E
Hey.
A
In Conroe, you're playing the guy that was already on with us, Christopher and Katie. You're the Heather and Conroe we were mentioning.
C
I am the Heather and Conroe for sure.
A
What did that call do to you? What did it do? What did it make you? How did it make you feel? You got to play. That guy fired me up.
C
Honestly, I'm sitting here working, and I
A
was like, whoa, wait a minute. What's going on here?
C
I better get my A game ready.
E
So.
A
Yeah, I cannot wait for Monday's game.
E
Would.
A
Are you going to practice? What are you going to do to get ready for Monday? I mean, I've been practicing. I don't need spreadsheets, I don't think, but, hell, I might have to go.
C
Need your spreadsheets, Christopher.
A
I want to get that on tape. Say that again. What did you say about spreadsheets?
C
I don't need your spreadsheets, Christopher.
A
Okay, could you say it one more
C
time and end it with Wizard?
A
Yeah. Say, I don't need your spreadsheets, Wizard. Say that.
C
Yeah. Oh, I don't need your spreadsheets, Wizard. That was good.
A
I'm using that every Thursday.
C
Every Thursday.
A
Okay. Best of luck. I cannot wait to for this matchup. I am so amped for this matchup. You, too. I want a nice, clean weekend out of you. I want your head in the game. I want you coming in here to kick some ass. 8:20 on Monday. Okay, Heather, a lot of people out there.
C
Have a great weekend.
A
You, too.
E
Thank you.
A
Thank you. Oh, I can't wait.
C
That was really cool.
A
We should always get the people on the day before they play. Weekend before they play. All right, more phone calls. Here we go. Marco, good morning. Hey, what's going on? Hey, what's going on? Good morning. I want to give a shout out to my main man Francisco or Frank's Plumbing. We're plumbers. I want to give a shout out to Jose at Real Deal Plumbing. Also shouts out to y'.
D
All.
C
I love a plumber, if you know what I mean.
A
Oh, yeah, I know you do.
C
Yeah.
A
Married, one, in love with a plumber.
C
Yeah.
A
That's the way you do a shout out, too, man.
C
My boys.
A
Hey, Nick in Pearland. Good morning, Nick.
E
Good morning.
A
You're on open phones Friday. What do you got for us today?
D
Man, I just want to say y' all are amazing.
A
Thank you. I listen to y' all station every day. Every morning I leave my house at 5:55, so I get it as soon
E
as y' all start.
A
And I drive all day, so I get to listen to it from start to finish. And it's awesome. Those are our best listeners. That's why I always talk about. And I know there's, there's other jobs, but we talk about truck drivers. They're in the car so much. They're in their trucks the whole time. The hot shop drivers, all of that. What do you do that you're in the car all day? I'm a delivery driver. I just drive around, deliver stuff to people and plants over, over out here in Houston, they're parked. Technically, I don't know how you do. Would make me nuts driving in this traffic. But I, I, I always say that's our job. Job number one is to, like, keep you guys calm. Maybe take your mind off of, you know, going into work or while you, you're at work. Especially take your mind off of traffic. Makes me happy that you're out there, Nick. I love hearing that. I do want to say I will be performing, competing in Yalls suburb summer Sizzler on Thursday, which I'm pretty excited about. Okay. Is this Nick first time playing? This is Nick Foster in Pearland.
D
This is.
A
You're lined up to play Thursday already? Dude. That's going to be against Chris in Spring Branch.
D
We just have Sizzler people gone.
A
That's awesome.
D
The competition, it's like the opening ceremony is the Olympics.
A
I'm into it, Nick.
D
I dig it.
A
Nick. I can't wait. I can't wait. Are you gonna practice? Are you gonna just. Are you just. I mean, you're in the car all day, you listen to the buzz, you know these songs. Yeah, yeah, I'm pretty good. I'm pretty good at music.
D
I listen to a lot of music.
E
I have.
A
My genres of music is very wide, so.
C
I know.
A
So I think I'll be all right. I think you'll be all right too, dude. All right, man. Thank you. Have the best weekend. And we're going to get you back on Thursday. Making his 18th appearance on today's show. Robbie.
D

A

He's only three. Okay, well, listen, it's always Good having you on. What are you doing? The beer's gone. You know that. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Uhoh.
D
Hold on.
A
Go ahead. Is that cracking a beer Run out of time. Oh, there it is now.
D
You hear that?
C
Sure did.
A
And I thought maybe I'd be having a drink with you at this moment in time. I figured you need to be having a drink. Having a drink with me. Okay, Mo, tell me what today is.
C
Today is National Tequila Day.
A
Okay. And then there was a group text of the Rod Ryan show and somebody was asking for lime juice.
C
I needed lime juice because I am making ranch waters. Morning. As soon as I run and get ice.
A
All right.
C
And we're going to do tequila shots for a video.
A
What?
C
It's a challenge.
D
We need to get out of here to go to Goodwill.
C
It's a challenge.
A
Oh, gosh.
C
And people are going to guess if we're drinking tequila or water by our facial expressions.
A
Oh, geez. All right. I didn't know that we're doing all this, Robbie. We're going to have a drink with you.
C
We're going to drink with you, Robbie, is what you're hearing.
D
All right.
A
We're going to drink with you, Robbie. That's another line open. 713-212-5945. It's open phones Friday. Are you making drinks?
C
Can I go now, please? Can you play a song?

A
You make the strongest drinks in the world.
C
One shot of tequila.
A
But do you think I have the double shot one?
C
You might.
D
You said one shot, then you said that somebody has one of two. You didn't just put one shot.
C
One of them has two. On accident.
A
You can't turn your nose up at the ranch Water. Mine's the double shot one.
C
No, that tastes awesome. That sounds good.
B
This is not so good.
A
Hang on. What I'm drinking is not a double shot.
C
No, it's one shot in a styrofoam coffee cup. You're gonna be fine.
A

A fourth. A shot of lime juice.
A
Renee, you like tequila? You guys. You said you and your dude, you sip on it.
D

C
bald scalp because of sipping tequila.
A

D
I don't think so.
A
Cool Hand Luke. No, it's in color. I believe last time I watched it, it was color. Okay. It's a great movie. I'm just wondering if one person would go and watch that and then say, ah, this doesn't hold up. It's awesome. It's a number one. I love prison movies. My biggest fear is going to prison. But one of my favorite genres of movies is prison movies. I don't know what it is. I love them interesting to it because I'm the same way. Sinkholes, maybe. Do I like sinkhole movies? B
No.
A
The writer of the article that talked about taking his elderly parents.
C
That was Tokyo.
A
It was Tokyo in.
D
That was Rod that wrote it, not a writer.
A
Then I tried to insert myself into. Here's my relatability and here's what I did.
C
I understand the confusion, but oh my lord, that's not right.
A
Mylanta. Good morning. Marco?
B
Yes.
D

D
Did we call you?
A
Yeah. All right. What's your question for Marco?
C
Marco on a surprise trip, where did Rod Ryan take his seven year old mother?
A
Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
C
Are they messing with us?
D
Did we even say great I had
C
one shot of tequila. That's it.
A
Are we drunk?
D
We might be drunk. You might be drunk.
C
What?
A
Where did that come from?
D
Where's Andrew? Andrew wanted to take it. Get Andrew on the street.
A
Andrew, where are you? Andrew. Let's try Daniel.
C
Daniel.
E
Okay.
D
Daniel.
A
Daniel. Good morning. How are you? Hey. Hey.
C

E
Disneyland.
A
Yeah.
C

D
Question, Mo.
C
I thought that was easy.
A
No. Well, it's. No. The show.
D
You're supposed to pay attention to the show, right?
C
You thought that was a hard.
E
Some.
D
Sometimes they're easier than other times. Okay.
C
I was struck by your story.
D
You took your mom part of the show. You paid attention. You wouldn't know.
A
Where did that Rocky Mountain chick come from? Smoky Mountain.
C
That was not real.
A
Are you kidding me right now?
D
She's probably working for the Smoky Mountain.
A
That person was messing with me, right?
C
Yes.
A
Okay.
D
By Smokey the Bear.

Station: 94.5 The Buzz (KTBZ-FM), Houston's Rock and Alternative
Host: Rod Ryan and crew
This episode of The Rod Ryan Show delivered its trademark mix of Houston-centric headlines, rock/alternative music news, irreverent banter, and audience interaction—with a heavy emphasis on “interaction” thanks to a dramatic, show-defining technical issue. The show was derailed by a major phone system outage that disrupted their beloved Free Beer Friday giveaways, on-air games, and listener calls, turning the morning into a roller-coaster battle to fix the phones and keep the energy high. Once restored, the team celebrated with renewed vigor, dishing out beers, concert tickets, and plenty of summer vibes.
