Hey there y science is why we didn't have rain yesterday. I was reading about it this morning and I was like, oh yes, the atmospheric change, that. But that same front that produced that wild hail and tornadoes near Fort Worth is now ours. Things start to change overnight tonight. Tonight, Rod. Okay. The storm system expected to produce wave after wave of rain and thunderstorms from early tomorrow morning through Friday evening. And right now we're not expected to get tornadoes, but for us, we know rain means flooding and, and that's why everyone is talking about weather on Friday. For today, a muggy Thursday, mostly cloudy, some scattered showers. Highs for our Thursday, near 85. Nationally, the Naval fleet, the one that's in the Middle east, it's getting a little smaller for a while. We've been talking a lot about the Strait of Hormuz and the USS Gerald R. Ford and its carrier strike group all heading home after one of the longest aircraft carrier deployments since the Vietnam War. Two other carriers will remain in the region. Peace talks between the US And Iran remained deadlocked as of yesterday. All right, this is all over the Internet. We've already talked about it. When you're showering, do you face forward looking at the shower head or do you have your back to the water?

We're looking forward to hearing that. But those are Houston's headlines.

The Rockets avoided elimination yet again last night. They beat the Lakers 99 to 93. Jabari Smith Jr. Had 22 points tonight to lead the team in scoring. They're going to play game six tomorrow night back here in Houston. Also in the NBA last night, the Pistons beat the Magic and the Cavs got by the Raptors. In baseball, the Astros game against the Orioles yesterday was postponed because of rain. So they're gonna play a doubleheader today. They're Gonna start the first game at 11:35 this morning. Peter Lambert's gonna be on the mound for the Strozz gunning his Baltimore's Chris Bassett. Then they'll play the second game at 3:05. You can listen to both of them on our sister station Sports Talk 790. And last night in the Stanley cup playoffs, the Canadians got by the Lightning. Flyers eliminated the Penguins in ot and the Golden Knights got by the Mammoth in double overtime. That is what's going on in sports.

Kevin. Good morning Kevin. What up Ron? How's it going? Great man, how are you man? I just here just logging into the computer to start my work day and decided to give you a call. Well, how do you like to get us started? I do have to keep this somewhat short. I'm but I'd love to hear from you. What do you want to get us started with? Sure. My daughter is just graduated from the University of Houston and my family, we're also proud of her. Yeah, I'm sorry, this is an amazing accomplishment. I'm not sorry. This is an amazing accomplishment. Congratulations. I mean your kid graduates from school. When I graduated, it didn't, it wasn't graduating high school is when I graduated college and got my degree college, I felt like I looked, my dad looked at me differently. Like I wasn't a goofball anymore. I was still a goofball but he looked at me differently. Like you know what he did something like that the rest of the family hadn't done. You know I, I told, we talked about this a Little bit. Yesterday I was supposed to be swinging a hammer and being, you know, I should have been on the line somewhere. So it's got to be an unbelievable proud moment. So how old is she? She's 23. And she got her master's degree.

That's amazing. This kid studies day and night and

she doesn't have to do that anymore.

She's getting ready to start work. You know, she's gotta. Gotta make. Get out there, make some money. And we're so proud of her, Rod. She was born three months early. She was 2 pounds, 4 ounces.

[Alex]

Preemie, baby.

The blood. The blood pressure cuff. Whenever she was in the hospital, in the nicu, stood around my thumb and she has surpassed the odds. She has accelerated and just studied and worked hard all her life. And now she wants to be a language speech therapist. She wants to help other kids, other special kids. It's amazing, dude. And give therapy. And she's already doing that. And we're so proud. We're over the moon.

They were early in on this. Like, they got ahead of the Bootleggers and Grateful Debt. You know, Pearl Jam kind of does this. There's a bunch of bands that record every single show and put it out there for the fans. Grateful Dead started that. So for over 30 years, there's a live recording of every Grateful Dead show except. Except one. March 17, 1970. It was a show in Buffalo that they performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at the Klein Hands Music hall, which is still there. No one, even the biggest Grateful Dead fans, cannot find a copy of this one show.

Science. There's something shifting and stuff. But that same front that produced a wild hail and tornadoes near Fort Worth is now ours. Things start to change overnight. Tonight the storm system expected to produce wave after wave of rain thunderstorms early morning Friday through Friday evening. Right now we're not expected to get the tornadoes, but for us all the rain means flooding concerns. So that's what we're watching for today. A muggy Thursday, mostly cloudy, some scattered showers, highs near 85. The top headline locally, one person died after an asphalt tank failure yesterday afternoon. It was at an industrial facility in the city of South Houston. Happened around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. Cleanup efforts continue today following the rupture. But when first responders got to the scene, they discovered one person was accounted for. They later did recover that person's body trapped under several feet of asphalt that spilled when this tank ruptured.

Like 200 degrees or something too.

That's the worst way to die. Yes.

My heart goes out to these people. Air monitoring was being conducted in the area. No danger to the community, but so sad. Uber in the headlines today. They're looking to make personal travel planning one step easier by adding hotel booking to the Uber app. Now, I saw the headline and I was like, well, what are they going to do that's different? They're not. They're not doing anything different with. Yes, it's part of their world takeover. They had an event yesterday to like talk about this and the announcement said Uber is now an advertisement app for everything. Over 700,000 hotel listings directly in The Uber app in partnership with Expedia, reducing the number of steps for travel.

They're saying, I don't use that stuff anymore. And I'll tell you why.

And I don't know if it's true. I just, I got burned one time because I didn't book directly with the hotel and my trip. And my trip didn't go through.

In baseball, Astros game against the OR yesterday was postponed because of rain. So they're going to play a double header today. They'll start the first game at 11:35. They'll play the second game. I'm at 3:05. You can listen to both of them on our sister station Sports Talk 790. And last night in the Stanley cup playoffs, the Canadians got by the Lightning 3 to 2. The Flyers eliminated the Penguins in overtime 1 nothing. And the Golden Knights got by the Mammoth in double overtime five to four. That is what's going on in sports.

You got another person qualified? That's kind of. Even though it happened, we still got to get, you know, 19 today 20 tomorrow. But that's the 21st person.

I told you the other day, I go, I, this is nonsense to me. I understand why they do it. There's somebody that doesn't want alcohol but still wants the taste of beer. The Wolf of Wall street had a funny scene in it where Leo's character is drinking a non alcoholic beer because he's not allowed to drink anymore.

And I can't remember what's the fat guy? Well, he was fat Jonah. Like what the hell is that? What are you drinking? He's like, there's no alcohol in it. He's like, well why would you do that? The biggest complaint with people with the NA beers is they don't taste good. So it's got Crisp Mountain cold refreshment, it's got coming next month and then a major rollout in the beginning of the year. All right. The naval fleet in the Middle east is getting smaller, at least for a while. They just called back the USS Gerald R. Ford and its strike group. They're all heading home after one of the longest aircraft carrier deployed agreements since the Vietnam War. There are two other carriers still remaining in the region. We know a lot of talk about the Strait of Hormuz. Peace talks between the US And Iran, deadlocked as of yesterday. Okay. This is all over the Internet and it's causing a lot of shock here in the studio.

So my heart breaks for those people. Uber is looking to expand their ventures. They had an event yesterday where they made an announcement that they're adding hotel booking to their app. It's all over. I keep seeing it on the national news this morning as well. Uber is now an app for everything. They want you to believe they've teamed up with Expedia to reduce the number of steps for traveling, if that's what doing you're doing. Users will now get reminders to schedule your rides to do your Uber eats From your over 700,000 hotel listings, all in the Uber app.
