it's the fun fact of the day. We make you look smart in front of your buddies. It's the fun fact of the day. There's some new fun facts for you today. Hi, Captain Cash.
B
Hey, brother Rod.
A
How are you?
B
Great.
A
I think I've run this by Captain Cash before. Even this guy who's probably only owned maybe three, three or four albums in his entire life. Mama Cash is the musician in the family. Well, I mean, we know he's selling in everybody else's, but Mama was the one that had probably brought the stack of records to the, to the marriage here. One out of every 14Americans under 70 either currently owns or used to own a copy of Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon. Out of the four records that you ever owned in your life, that was one of them.
B
Probably out of four records, that was two of them.
A
That's one of those records that was on the Billboard album charts for like 20 years. Yeah, it was in the top 200. I remember my dad listening to that. It just never went away. And people bought the eight track, the cassette, and then albums. And then after that got beat up, they bought another album. Some people have owned that album five or six times. I would have said like that. And then rumors from Fleetwood Mac, like everybody I know that has a vinyl collection. Rumors who are in it? Rumors would be in there. And ACDC's back in black, those would all be in there. Of, like most people on one out of every 14Americans. Dark side of the moon. It's insane. The person that is credited with introducing macaroni and cheese to the U.S. thomas Jefferson. That is fun.
C
Really.
A
Now, let's be honest here. If we need to get in and pull back the curtain a little bit with a little history, I think everybody kind of knows what time period Thomas Jefferson lived in. It was his enslaved chef. Let's give the real credit to James Hemmings, the real mastermind of be behind this American version of that we have of Kraft Macaroni and cheese. Put his face on the box. I'm here for it. Okay. Put his face on the box. Tomorrow, finally. Now, today.

Did you see the price of berries today?

Finally. Birds don't pee. It's neat. Thanks, Rod. Birds don't pee. They don't pee. You can stop it, right? It's all one thing. Yeah. They don't even have urethras. They don't go anywhere. Oh. And then other than over cars, everything goes out with their poop, which then lands on your shoulder. So it's a combo of both those things. But they don't just pee on their own. They just don't whip it out and whiz. It's the fun fact of the day. We make you look smart in front of your buddies. It's the fun fact of the day. Step into the world of power, loyalty, and luck. Host: Rod Ryan & Captain Cash
Station: 94.5 The Buzz (KTBZ-FM), Houston
In this lighthearted segment, Rod Ryan and regular contributor Captain Cash exchange intriguing, quirky, and unexpected “fun facts” designed to both entertain and educate their listeners. From classic albums to culinary history and animal biology, the crew offers up quick yet memorable trivia, weaving in their personal anecdotes and banter.
Timestamps: 01:22 – 02:46
Rod kicks off by marveling at how one out of every 14 Americans under 70 has owned a copy of this legendary album at some point.
He jokes with Captain Cash about his modest record collection:
“Even this guy who's probably only owned maybe three, three or four albums in his entire life. Mama Cash is the musician in the family.” (01:22, Rod Ryan)
Captain Cash admits:
“Probably out of four records, that was two of them.” (01:55, Captain Cash)
Rod reminisces about the album’s ubiquity and longevity on the charts, noting people often repurchased it in various formats—vinyl, cassette, eight-track.
The hosts list other common household staples for vinyl collectors, including Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” and AC/DC’s “Back in Black.”
Timestamps: 02:46 – 03:17
Rod states the well-known fact that Thomas Jefferson is credited with introducing macaroni and cheese to America, but he digs deeper for historical accuracy:
“It was his enslaved chef. Let's give the real credit to James Hemmings, the real mastermind behind this American version of mac and cheese.” (02:48, Rod Ryan)
Rod playfully campaigns for a little culinary justice:
“Put his face on the box. I’m here for it.” (02:51, Rod Ryan)
Timestamps: 03:17 – 03:41
Rod springs a surprise by explaining birds’ unique waste process:
“Birds don't pee. It's neat. Thanks, Rod. Birds don't pee. They don’t pee. You can stop it, right? It’s all one thing.” (03:22, Rod Ryan)
He clarifies that birds don’t have urethras and everything is expelled together—an answer to why bird droppings have their distinctive texture.
The hosts joke about the inevitable landing spots:
“Other than over cars, everything goes out with their poop, which then lands on your shoulder. So it's a combo of both those things.” (03:29, Rod Ryan)
Rod on Album Stats:
“One out of every 14 Americans under 70 either currently owns or used to own a copy of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.” (01:37)
Captain Cash’s Collection:
“Probably out of four records, that was two of them.” (01:55)
On Mac and Cheese:
“Let’s give the real credit to James Hemmings, the real mastermind behind this American version of mac and cheese. Put his face on the box. I’m here for it.” (02:48–02:51, Rod Ryan)
Bird Fact Delivery:
“Birds don't pee. They don’t even have urethras. They just don’t whip it out and whiz.” (03:22, Rod Ryan)
| Time | Content | |-----------|-----------------------------------------------------| | 01:22 | Classic albums talk (“Dark Side of the Moon”, etc.) | | 02:46 | Mac & Cheese’s American origins | | 03:17 | Why birds don’t pee |
The conversation is upbeat and humorously self-aware, typical of The Rod Ryan Show’s tone. The hosts balance playful teasing (“Mama Cash is the musician in the family”) with genuine curiosity and a dash of historical correction ("Put his face on the box. I'm here for it").
This “Fun Facts of The Day” segment delivered exactly what fans expect: breezy, surprising, and sometimes enlightening trivia presented with camaraderie and wit. Listeners come away with both a smile and a slightly expanded knowledge bank—about music, food history, and nature’s odder facts.
