I'm growing avocados, which is one of the many great things you can do in the free state of Florida. And by the way, on June 11th at the Fillmore, Miami Beach, I'll be there with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Adam Carolla and Jillian Michaels. DaveRubin.com events. What's up guys? I'm Dave Rubin. This is The Rubin Report. June 9, 2026. That's right. In two days, Florida man hits Miami beach at the Fillmore. You know the story already. Me, DeSantis, Carolla, Jillian Michaels, Tequila. Lots of fun giveaways, T shirts, etc etc stuff. More. Lots of good. You know, you can go to davrubin.com events. You can enter code prageru for 25% off. And Joseph convinced me of something this morning. He said to me, dave, I'm but a humble servant here at the Rubin Report, making a meager salary, barely enough to afford food or anything else. And there's other people like me out there. And I said that's a damn shame. What do you want me to do? He said, can we do a raffle? We'll collect some emails and in exchange we'll give away a couple tickets. And I said, joseph, your wish is my command. That's what I do around here. So this is what we're going to do if you're a Florida local or you happen to be in Florida, I suppose, on Thursday. There is a link in the description right now. If you enter your name and email, we will give away five tickets. Well, five plus one seems fair. They don't have to come solo. We'll give away 10 total tickets to five people. You can bring someone, your mother, your cousin, your aide, your robotic lover, whatever it might be. So the link is in the pinned comment and it is in the description down below. All you gotta do is give us your email. You might get a newsletter from us every now and again. I gotta do a little something on my end and that's how it's gonna work. Anyway, we're looking forward to seeing you guys. It's gonna be a great night. All right, lots to get to today. It's all domestic stuff and a big mix of election stuff. Obviously a bunch of stuff out of New York City last night with the NBA Finals and Trump and Mom Dame being there, A little update from the Cali stuff, some crazy Texas stuff with this Talarico guy and a whole bunch more. But okay, so let's start with the NBA. Now, as you know, I don't watch the NBA anymore. I stopped a couple years ago. I really stopped during COVID and blm. I couldn't take it anymore. I watch, baske or play basketball to enjoy basketball. And when you're constantly being told by the broadcasters that you're racist or the players are telling you that you live in a white supremacist country or they're kneeling or wearing masks, I just couldn't take it anymore. I stopped watching years ago. I do, as you know, I watch old 80s and 90s games on YouTube. That's my. And I play all the time. That's my basketball situation right now. But the NBA Finals are happening right now and the Knicks won the first two games in San Antonio and then game three was last night in New York City. And Donald Trump, I don't know if you've heard of this guy. He's a real estate developer, fluffy hair, orange face. He, over the years, about four decades, built dozens and dozens of buildings in New York City. His name was littered across the skyline of New York City. Many of the buildings still remain. Trump Tower, Trump International Hotel, et cetera, et cetera, despite the fact that the city has tried to kick him out and criminalize everything he's doing. And he had to basically move operations out and he doesn't live there anymore or anything else anyhoo he's been a Knicks fan forever and he's the freaking President of the United States. And in normal times, if people were not completely insane, if any president, Democrat, Republican, showed up to any sport, football, baseball, soccer, high lie, everybody should be happy about it. You could for a moment put aside your nonsense and you might look up there and go, that's the President of the United States. How freaking cool that he showed up. But of course, it became hugely politicized and all the usual people did the usual stuff. So let's start with Timu Obama. Yes. Hakeem Jeffries, whose he's starting to even dress like a robot. Like he looks like he's a robot humanoid, who they are now pretending is a Knicks fan. And here he is and he didn't want Trump to show up to Madison Square Garden.
Joseph
You're a big Knicks fan.
Dave Rubin
Obviously President Trump is going to the game tonight.
Joseph
Your reaction to that?
Timu Obama
So I've had a few things to say about Donald Trump going to the Knicks game. And you know, at this point, it's game day and I think Knicks fans just want to enjoy game three, the first home game that we've had in 27 years. But it also is not clear to me that Donald Trump is a big Knicks fan. I mean, does this guy even know the difference between Karl Rove and Karl Anthony Towns? I don't think so. He's just injecting himself into the NBA Finals because he always has to bring the MAGA circus into town.
Dave Rubin
Listen to me, I am telling you that one day we are going to find out that man is not human. He is so robotic and so pre programmed. I am telling you, they're going to crack open his face and there's going to be a little alien inside with some levers and some buttons. I really was Temu Obama. Please send me back to Nurulan 6. That's really where we're gonna be with this guy. Okay? Trump has been an NBA fan for years. Check out this compilation. He's been going to games for freaking decades. Several of those are at Madison Square Garden. He is a New York staple. Okay? But again, it doesn't even matter if he was a Knicks fan or not. Any president showing up to the super bowl or the NBA Finals or do they still have hockey? They still play hockey or it's not in America anymore. Right. If the American president went up to Canada where they're skating around with their little sticks, you know, whatever. The hockey people. Every time I make fun of hockey, the hockey people freak Out. I'm just kidding. I know we have hockey here. We have the Islanders and the Panthers. They're doing. Oh, the Panthers and the Lightning. Wow, look at you. You need a hobby. Anyway, I can't believe I'm going to do this, but Whoopi Goldberg on the View made a decent point about the President of the United States, who's been a lifelong New Yorker, showing up to the Knicks game as well as the mayor, who, you know, obviously I don't like. She likes him. But that he showed up too, despite the fact that Whoopi is gonna make sense here. Yeah, we just have to play it. It's just baked in at this point. Go.
Sunny Hostin
I'm sorry. Trump and Ma' am Mom Dame are Knicks fans and have been. They're New Yorkers and you can't. There's nothing either one of them can do to change what's happening in this city for this team. They can't, you know, they're there. Okay. There's a lot of. Jinx us. There's a lot. No, you know what? I don't think anything can jinx anything. I think these guys are on a mission.
Dave Rubin
They are on a mission.
Commercial Announcer
They're like the Blues Brothers.
Sunny Hostin
They're on a mission from God.
Dave Rubin
Well, look, the Knicks might be on a mission from God. They did lose last night. So if you want to say it was a jinx and you want to blame Trump, that's just fine. But I will try to give credit where credit is due. And Whoopi, for a brief moment is acknowledge that Donald Trump, a guy she used to be friends with, who she knows in her cold heart, is not a racist or anything else that he showed up. And again, it's pretty freakin cool that the President shows up. The other guy that did show up is the mayor. And I'll take the same position. I obviously like Trump and I don't like Zorhan, but he did show up and he claims he paid $1,000 for the ticket, which is a little unclear. They had a standing section where it's a little unclear how much the tickets cost because Most tickets cost 4,000 and up. I think floor level seats. I was told $102,000 for floor level seats. Anywho, here is Zorhan on how much he paid.
Standing room only ticket. I'm just not familiar. Did you get like a discount from the Garden through that or was that just something used bought online on like Ticketmaster?
So that's something that I purchased directly from the Madison Square garden Close to $1,000 was the price of it. And standing room only is just the section that I'll be standing. All right, so the cheapest seat you could get. Actual seat. Now he's saying standing room only. The cheapest seat you could get was $4,500. Also the idea that he just did it, like he like went online doesn't really matter, but like I just went on newyorknicks.com and blah blah, blah is completely absurd. Obviously he used some connection to do it. Now the funny thing here is that this guy is a curse. Well, he is a curse for many reasons. He is a curse of communism and he's a curse of jihadism. But also when he shows up to a sporting event, the home team loses. Period. Look at this headline from the New York Post. Curse of the Mambino. This is from this morning. No, no, no, sorry. This is from about. What was it about three weeks ago when he showed up to a Mets game? The Mets subsequently lost 13. Thirteen in a row. Right? Twelve in a row. The Mets lost 12 in a row. And now the Knicks by losing last night when he showed up, they had a 13 game winning streak which was eliminated thanks to Mamdani. Now, the people of New York City, these are calm people. I used to live there for many years. I know they're very lovely and it's not a problem when their team wins or loses. Although something apparently was in the water last night because, well, here were some of the after game activities happening in New York City. What, what is happening here? Can we go back to one second? The, the big fat guy with the Knicks jersey on when he takes the sign. Look at, that's WWF sign style. Give me a metal chair. I'm gonna like think about it. You go to a basket. These people were probably not at the game. Who knows, they were just hanging out outside or whatever. But just, okay, your team wins or loses and then try to figure out the psychology of okay, we got the score, didn't go our way. But sometimes they riot when their team wins. So that's kind of irrelevant. I'm going to take a sign off a post and bash a random person in the head with it. Maybe I'm just getting too old for this. Like, maybe that's really what's happening. I don't have the 25 year old lunatic rage in me anymore. But anyway, there were plenty of these videos. I mean, they took over Bryant park, they were setting fires. It was completely and utterly insane. No suicide bombs yet, but we'll see what Happens if this thing goes seven games. Anyway, here is the crowd, and depending on who you were following on Twitter, either the crowd loved Trump in Madison Square Garden or hated him. I'll just play it. You can decide. Tonight, President Donald Trump becomes the first sitting United States president to attend an NBA Finals game. Longtime Nick fan certainly liked what he saw here. All right, so did they applaud him? Did they boo him? Was it a little bit of everything? Is that indicative of anything? Right, like the people. The tickets were so damn expensive that this selection of people that are in that room, Is that. Is that sort of relative to what the average person in New York thinks of the guy? Who the hell knows? It doesn't really matter. But some people were tweeting it out like, see, they love Trump. And the other half were, see, they hate Trump. I don't know. I did think this was actually kind of nice because NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. This is right before the game. Now, Adam Silver has been maybe financially okay for the NBA because I think they're doing okay. Although ratings are down and everything else. Ratings are temporarily up right now because people are into this series because it's New York. But, you know, he has ushered in, you know, he came in after David Stern, after many years of who ran the NBA from the 80s 90s, the heyday of the Michael Jordan era and everything. And Silver took over, I don't know, maybe about 10 years ago, something like that. And he was the one that ushered in so much of the woke stuff, so much of the BLM stuff, the kneeling, you know, putting BLM logos on the court, all of the horrible stuff. But I think he's realized now that being radically anti Trump as a position for a league that should just. Republicans buy sneakers too. Right? He's realized that it's not financially sound. And here he is before the game talking about how Trump's a Knicks fan and it's nice that he'll be there.
NBA Insider
Trump, you know, I've been with the league for a long time. I ran NBA Entertainment years ago. He did an I Love Game spot with us. He was a fixture at NBA at Madison Square Garden. You guys remember, all of you when you played here, Not Draymond, but back in the old days, he had courtside seats. He was here all the time. He was at draft. So he's a genuine Knicks fan. And so, yes, there's some inconvenience to the fans here. But one, looking around this arena, it's packed. So people listen. They came early, they got through whatever extra security which is necessary. So, as I said, I think we should be using sports to create more of a sense of community with people, not less.
Dave Rubin
Wow. The correct message. Sports should create more of a sense of community, not less. Right. So whether they booed him or they cheered him or anything else, everyone should be happy when the President of the United States shows up at something. Right? Like, do you think Trump, I'm going to show up with the intention of dividing America? Like, that's just so thin and boring and obviously not true. But I would say more than anything else, when you listen to Silver there, first off, he lays out, hey, Trump's been involved in this stuff for years. He. He did promos with us years ago and everything else. But also, like, let's not politicize everything. And, yeah, it was a little bit of a headache. It was. There were plenty of videos of people that had to wait. You know, normally to get into a Finals game, you're gonna wait a little extra because there's gonna be a certain extra amount of security. This time it was significantly more. And that's a bit of a headache, but I think it's worth it to have the President show up. Like, it's just pretty damn cool. My buddy Stephen A. Smith on espn, he said before Trump showed up that he would blame Trump if the Knicks lose. Donald Trump subsequently commented on that. ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith, who was talking about running for President, said he
Commercial Announcer
would blame you if the Knicks lost the game.
Dave Rubin
How do you respond to that? I think he's a nice guy, but you need a certain aptitude to run for president. You need a hierarchy. Thank you. I'm not sure that Stephen has that. I don't think he does, actually, against the Spurs. So, yeah, so that's just Trump, like, okay, you just let it go. You let it go. I just would add in one more video because I found this one yesterday. I don't know if anyone else saw this, but I found it because it's a year that sticks out in my NBA brain. 1995, because the Houston Rockets, with my man Clyde Drexler, won the NBA Finals. But in the Western Conference Finals, the game that clinched it, Game six. I remember this. And we pulled this yesterday. Take a look. Houston leading by one.
NBA Insider
And our guest celebrity cameraman, Donald Trump. Welcome to the telecast.
Dave Rubin
How you doing, folks?
NBA Insider
Fine, thank you. You know, we must be paying our cameraman a pretty penny.
Dave Rubin
You're paying a lot of money. It's a great job.
NBA Insider
Thanks for being with us, Don.
Dave Rubin
Thank you. Great game. Have a good Time. Yeah. So it's. Trump has always been part of the NBA. He has always been part of the NBA. We just checked the numbers on this, on that game six that they were showing right there. I've watched that. That's one of the games that I watch all the time. Because that got the Rockets to advance to the NBA finals. Hakeem scored 49. Wow. That's even more than I would have thought. He was incredible. For those of you that care about basketball, you want to watch an amazing series. That Spurs Rocket series. David Robinson was given MVP before game one. And Hakeem, who felt that he deserved it, he turned David Robinson inside out. I know many of you probably don't really care that much about it, but it was. It was great. And Clyde scored 25 points on that one. Guys, let's talk about Shopify for a little bit and then we'll get to some lace and Cali stuff. You know, starting something new is always a little scary. Trust me, I know. When I started the Rubin Report, it was just me and a lot of questions. I didn't even have this guy with the meager salary over there, would anyone watch? Would anyone? Would it grow into anything? Well, I took the leap. And over the years, it expanded into something much bigger than I ever imagined. Actually, our livestreams the last couple days, over 400,000 views on our live shows. Both of them, last couple, last two or three shows. Shopify can help make that leap a little easier for you. Shopify is the commerce platform behind millions of businesses and 10% of all E commerce in the US whether you're building your first online store, launching new products, or trying to reach more customers, Shopify gives you the tools to do it all in one place. They help you grow without needing a huge team behind you. Plus, with world class support and best converting checkout on the planet with shop pay, you're set up for success from day one. It's time to turn those what ifs into cha chings with Shopify. Today, sign up for your $1 per month trial@shopify.com Rubin that is shopify.com Rubin okay, let's jump from New York. We'll go about 3,000 miles across the country to the other crazy capital of the country, Los Angeles, where this LA mayoral election, it is just derailing so quickly. And as I repeatedly said yesterday, I don't have evidence of the fraud. Like, oh, here's the paper, I've got the evidence. Let's mail it in. And we're good. But something obviously Stinks as we stand. Today is Tuesday. The election was one week ago today. They are still, not only are they still counting votes, but votes are still allowed to come in at this point for one week after the election. It's completely absurd. And as you know, when polls closed and even into midnight a week ago on Election Day, Spencer Pratt was second. And everybody thought, okay, we'll have the runoff that everyone expected, right? Very few people thought that Karen Bass was going to get over 50%, or certainly that Spencer Pratt was going to get over 50%, in which case there would have been no runoff. But everyone was like, all right, it'll be Bass. Pratt will have a runoff in November. I was making the argument that's actually great for Trump and I would say for the country, because it keeps the eyeballs and the attention on something that was really interesting and hot with Pratt, something that was important culturally. Like, just look around and see what's going on. And if you think that Democrats being in power is good, you got another thing coming. Event. Suddenly, over the course of seven days, Nithya Raman, who is the mamdami of la, she makes Karen Bass look moderate. She's a lefty lunatic, literally was campaigning that they should allow drug dens on the same streets that schools are on. She's a radical beyond imagination. And of course, somehow, magically, she's getting all the mail in ballots and she will now be in the runoff and Spencer Pratt will not be. This from the New York Times. Democrats secure his second LA mayoral spot and ends Spencer Pratt's run as. And Spencer Kazaran.
Joseph
Sorry.
Dave Rubin
Nithya Raman, a progressive Democrat who entered the mayoral race at the last minute, secured second spot to face Mayor Karen Bass in November. Her comeback sets up an intra battle party. And might I make a prediction here? Every single time that the Democrats go left, they end up going further left. So my guess is that Nithya Raman will win. She will get the psychos in the base to support her. Karen Bass will look like an ineffectual moderate. She's not a moderate, but she is ineffectual and it will not go well. So just like Chicago went from Lori Lightfoot to Brandon Johnson, or Seattle went from the guy who didn't want to put criminals in jail. He wanted to know if they were beaten as children. And now they got that far crazier lady. Just as Texas had Jasmine Crockett. And then they went further left with Talarico, just like. Like New York had Bill de Blasio and then ended up with Miami. Miami Momdami. I think it is fairly obvious what will happen in Los Angeles. I thought this was interesting. This is from the Gays for Trump. Although there's nothing sexual, there's no sexuality Related to this content Nithya Raman even lost her own district, which is District 4, to Spencer Pratt and Karen Bass. But you expect us to believe she beat them both by winning 4. 40% of the vote in the rest of the city by mail in ballots. Like, completely ridiculous. Elon saw that and he tweeted, the level of fraud here is mind blowing. So the point here is we'll continue a little bit more on this, but the point here is we don't know exactly what happened. So, you know, when we showed you that video the other day of the woman on NBC interviewing Trump when he had just had it with her. What's that lady's name? Kristen Welker. It's like Trump didn't have. He doesn't have it right in front of him. But at the, at some point something feels so fraudulent and the fact that they are telling us there's no chance that it's fraudulent. The woman is a radical left lunatic who is in far third place. And now Pratt is gone. She even gave a concession speech on election day on June 2, she gave a concession speech. But if you want to see how absolutely crazy this situation is, this is a tweet by a political commentator named Myla Joy, and there's an image attached. She wrote, my sister lives in Los Angeles. She's a Democrat, but voted for Spencer Pratt. I was with her when she dropped her ballot in the mail weeks ago. We checked today and it hasn't been received back. Are they just tossing ballots for Spencer Pratt? So you see that you can go on a website and see where your ballot is at. And in this case, it has not even been counted yet. So something is really wrong. Once again, Elon retweeted that and said the system is rotten. So again, even if you don't have the smoking gun, there's enough, I would say, circumstantial evidence. There's enough stink around the thing to make people not believe the system is honest or that the system works. And of course, there's also the video that we showed you twice yesterday. We're going to show you again right now. A couple weeks ago, Gavin Newsom being asked about the LA mayoral race and the California gubernatorial race and what would happen if Democrats lost. And, well, he basically said there's no way they're going to Lose. I don't know how he knew it, but here we go. But there is a break the glass scenario.
Joseph
And there's many people that have a
Dave Rubin
deep understanding of what it would look like if Democrats were locked out. And we're going to do everything to make sure that doesn't happen. I'll leave it there with the smile on his face at the end. Did you catch that little smile? There's a break the glass scenario. And we're going to. Many people will make sure that doesn't happen. That's what he said, basically. What does that mean? There is only one question that anyone should be asking Gavin Newsom right now. And it's not about how many babies he grinds up to make it for his hair gel. It's what the hell were you talking about? What did you guys do? Or my suspicion, I don't know. My suspicion is they did break the glass. Whatever he meant by that, they broke the glass. And magically Spencer Pratt, who was in second place going to a runoff and then third place person was literally giving a consistent concession speech a week ago today. That's all been flipped. Is that what you meant by break the glass? And by the way, it's not just Cali, it's not just Los Angeles. Here's video of Nancy Pelosi back in March talking about the midterms. And listen to the same type of language. We always have concerns, but with this president and these Republicans who have no
Sunny Hostin
commitment to the rule of law and
Dave Rubin
doing things the appropriate way, we're ready. There's so many things that you can
Sunny Hostin
do to protect the election,
Dave Rubin
and they are being done. What are you talking about, Nancy Pelosi? What can be done to protect the election? We know you're not talking about election integrity. We know you're not talking about, I don't know, having proper IDs to vote. So what do you mean by protect the election? What she means is protecting that Democrats will remain in power. So Gavin Newsom has something to break the glass in case of emergency, and she has ways of protecting the election. Do you see how dangerous these people are? They're telling you too. They're telling you we've got ways of doing things, and then the proof is kind of in the pudding. So again, I don't know where the smoking gun is, Right? And this is sort of a clever way that they can do things. You just create enough sense stink around everything so everyone kind of thinks it doesn't work. Nobody really believes it, and you just keep winning. You just keep winning. We'll connect that to the gubernatorial race in just a second. But here is Alison Steinberg. She's fantastic. She works for Lindell tv. We've shown you some videos of her. She goes out on the Hill and she actually asks good questions to these people. And here she is asking Timu Obama about election fraud in California.
Leader Jeffries, looking at the state of California, the state has rampant SNAP fraud, hospice fraud, immigration fraud. Are we really supposed to believe there's no election fraud in California? And if so, if there's no election fraud, then why would California Democrats refuse a federal audit?
Timu Obama
California is a great place to live. I appreciate the leadership of Governor Gavin Newsom as well as, of course, the California delegation, which is a tremendous group of public servants. There is no election fraud in California. Donald Trump is making it up. He can't point to a shred of evidence to prove his point. This is all a conspiracy theory.

All right, Allison, if you're watching, first off, great questions. Might I offer something? I don't know if this could get you in some kind of trouble, but maybe next time instead of even asking him a question because he just goes into robotic, he's not real. Pour a little water on him and let's see if he short circuits that. I'm telling you, that is not a real person. I don't know what is going on there. Everything about him, the answers, the Blank stare, the robotic prepackaged answers the way normal people's bodies don't move like that. Something is wrong. I don't know if it's an early Optimus robot from Elon. I don't know if it's a figure AI robot. That guy is not human. But of course he has no answer. There's a lot of fraud. Hospice fraud, immigration fraud, money for laundry. California is run well. We are fine. Beep, boop, bop bop. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, select, start, control, alt, delete. Other computer program buttons. Here we go. Back to the view. We've got the warning for you and Alyssa Farah, pet Republican. Trying to make some same sense, Sonny. Less so.
But I will say people tend to not trust elections when it takes a real long time to count votes. Louisiana and California in general need to figure out how to do this quicker. Change the laws so you can do it in one day. Florida has a lot of mail in and they get their results the same night. It makes people feel like, oh, something's off, but there's not. That's how they're ruling them.
Sunny Hostin
There isn't really the exact opposite. I think if someone is taking their time to count the votes, I think if someone is looking at every single thing. Because in California, it's the most populous state, we all know that, to do it right.
Dave Rubin
Why would Florida do it right in one night, though?
Sunny Hostin
I don't think you can do it when you have 23 million registered voters. It's just not possible. And so I think it is.
Dave Rubin
These people. Literally something's not possible. Yes, it's not possible. We're all retards. Waaay. Nothing works. It's just extraordinary. If it was the reverse right now, this was happening in Florida, she'd be screaming. We just checked. Do you know how many people live in Florida? 21% of Floridians are senior citizens. Right? The old joke used to be you move down to Florida and die. Now it's like you move down to Florida to live. So the demographics are changing here. But Florida has 23.5 million people and a fifth of them, 21%, are senior citizens. I've been making the argument if you want to say that there should be mail in ballots, like there are reasons, right? Senior citizens, people who are in wheelchairs, who are otherwise infirmed, who are sick, whatever it might be, particularly when it comes to older people who do vote a lot, having them do mail in ballots and making sure it's secure. I think there's something legit there. So how is it that we still, despite a fifth of our population being senior citizens, we still are able to get it done that night. The fact that Sunny is even pushing back on that and even the slightest and her argument is it's big. So we can't do it. Oh my God, we can't do it. It's great. It's just, it's so mind numbing with these people. And of course, as you know, they would just take the reverse position if it was the other way around. I wouldn't be. Whether it was Florida, whether it was a deep red state or a bananas blue state, I would want elections solved that night. You do all of the things, whether you get the win you want, the party you want or the candidate you want. You want to at least believe. The very low bar sort of lowest common denominator thing would be that we want to at least believe the system. Believe in the system. And what the Democrats are doing is they're creating the conditions so that no one will believe in it. And that probably is the best way for them to continue their grift. So now let's continue it at the gubernatorial level. This from NBC. We're still a week later. We are only at 82.9% of the expected votes. There's still 1.6 million votes out there to be tallied. And the Democrat, Xavier becerra is at 27.7. Steve Hilton, the sane Republican, is at 25.1. And Tom Steyer, the billionaire who the socialists backed and said we'll behead you if you don't do what we want, he's at 22.4. So as I said the other day, would it surprise you when these 1.6 million come in if magically the same exact thing that just happened in LA happens more broadly in California and suddenly Hilton is out and Steyer is in. And then you have the quote unquote moderate Becerra versus the bananas lefty billionaire progressive Steyer. It would not surprise me. We will see what happens, Steve. Here's Steve Hilton, who he's. The guy is too good to be part of that state. Like Steve, if it doesn't work out, just move to Florida and you'll be just fine. Here he is with my buddy Rob Finnerty talking about what an obscene, ridiculous situation this is right now.
Steve Hilton
It's an absolute fiasco, a total shambles. And it's a illustration of everything that's gone wrong in this state with these Democrats that can't run anything properly. They can't build a railway, they can't clear the homelessness, they can't run an election. It's riddled with total uselessness and incompetence.
Dave Rubin
Yeah, yeah, and he should be out there saying that. Say it over and over and over again, whether they screw you or not right now. And again, we'll never know if he, if it just flips. If it just flips by the end of today and they're just like, all right, Steyer's in, Hilton's out. We'll never know really what happened. But again, we're a week late. We're a week late on getting these results, so very few people are going to buy it. Yes, partisan hacks like Sunny Hostin will tell you, oh, everything that happened over the last week, even though, yeah, sure, we have a third of the hospices in the entire country are in la and that obviously has been an entire money laundering scheme. But no, somehow we must trust that they do elections right, because they're just good old Democrats. They're great people who are here for you. Here's a bit more from Hill.
Steve Hilton
There's one thing that is just extraordinary to anyone watching, which is this mail in ballot seven days after the election. The argument is, well, we want maximum participation. So if someone wants to vote on election day, we're going to treat sending in a mail ballot the same as if you were voting. That's why we're going to give seven days for the ballot to arrive. But there's a line in the law that says that actually the proof that you mailed your ballot on or just before election day, even if it arrives after election day, it's not just the postmark. You can write it, you can hand write the date.
Timu Obama
Wow.
Steve Hilton
And that counts.
Dave Rubin
How in the world does that make sense? You can hand write the date, it's not just the postmark. But even if it was just the postmark, that still doesn't make sense because you would want it all to be counted on election day. So if you are 100% for mail in ballots and you all of that, the very least that you should be asking for is that, okay, you want mail in ballots, you want everyone to be sent a mail in ballot and that's what you like and you think there'll be no fraud and you'll have your dropboxes and all those things and you think that's just fine. How about at the very least they have to be in, I don't know, the day before or two days before election day. Let's say you have weeks of early elections, right? Of early voting. So that on election day it would be the easiest thing. We have all of these mail in ballots. They're all here. We're going to count all of them throughout the day. Starting at 9am you're going to have people voting. Somehow the people who actually vote, they're able to count those votes during the day, at night. Right. Like so if you voted on election day, they can always get you that tally. And it's this Dropbox mail in ballot nonsense. So why not just have it so that it's a day before everything has to be in and if it's not in by a day before, it doesn't count. But we'll have everything and they will count it during the day. But the answer to that is that they want you to think that there is fraud. Well, they either want to. It's one of two things. They either want to commit fraud or they want enough people to think that there is fraud so everyone will lose faith in the system and they will remain in power forever. Here is a bit from the Vice President explaining to Jesse Waters. Basically what I just said right there. They are still counting the votes. You trust this election.
Jesse Waters
Fundamentally, the problem here with this whole thing is how is it that you had, you know, Karen Bass was in first place, Spencer Pratt was in second place, and then this other woman was in third place. You would expect these mail in ballots to kind of meet that same basic pattern where, you know, number one would get the most votes, number two would get the second most votes and so on. But somehow we find ourselves in a situation where, number one, they're still receiving ballots. Not just counting ballots, Jesse, they're still receiving ballots. And number two, the way that they're coming in just so happens to work out such that the Republican is getting kicked out of the final two. So it's a Democrat versus Democrat runoff. That seems pretty shady to me. Especially when you add on top of the fact that in California you are prohibited from asking for somebody's identification before they vote.
Dave Rubin
Yeah, I mean, that's all the stuff I've been talking about that's obvious. You are prohibited from asking. And again, when I showed my ID when I voted in that recall election against Newsom, I literally took my idea. And the guy, the guy who was the poll watcher, he knew who I was and he freaked out. He was like, no, don't show me that, Dave. That's how insane this whole thing is. But again, it's just a matter of they just want enough brain broken nonsense around the election so that they can pull off anything. I don't think that's a conspiracy theory. I think it's actually fairly obvious. Here are two of my friends. One of them I'm interviewing a little bit later today. This is Gillian Michaels from actual Friends podcast on with Bayar Unger Sargan on News Nation. And she Gillian here is making the argument that in that Karen Bass did not win by a landslide, there's some good signs coming out of L A. I'm not sure if I totally agree with this, but take a look.
Sunny Hostin
But I think this is a real reckoning on the Democratic establishment in California. Bass is the incumbent. There are literally twice as many Democrats registered in both Los Angeles and California than Republicans. She should have run away with this, and the fact that she hasn't is really a victory unto itself for the

I suppose Jillian, my friend, I suppose that's right. Except in some sense you could argue it simply doesn't matter. They have removed Pratt one way or another. So now the race will be between far left nutbag Karen Bass, who's been the executive running the city for years, who's led to so much of this destruction and then either further, even further left nutbag nithyaraman so even though you're right, it was not nice to see that Karen Bass didn't just win in a landslide and that Pratt had a moment here, a moment of sanity. The end result is that you're gonna have too far lefties running in the general election and I don't see how that's good. But I'll unpack that further with Gillian. Maybe on actual friends, let's jump back to JD because it's not just New York that went this road with mom da me. It's not just LA and California that are doing it right literally as we speak. But Texas has a wacky situation on its hands with this James Calarico guy. And again he is further left than Jasmine Crockett who we don't even have to play videos anymore. But she's been the, she was like the lefty punching bag for the last year because she was so bananas lefty and those crazy eyelashes and changing her affect when she was speaking all the time depending on who she was speaking to. And then they went even crazier. They went with this Jamestown Talarico guy and I don't think it will fly in Texas, but who the hell knows at this point? Here's JD on that. The midterm elections right around the corner. The Democrats have nominated Talarico and Platner to win back men. Mr. Vice President, is that going to work?
Jesse Waters
I'm probably the worst person to ask how the Democrats Democrats could win votes, Jesse. But look what I my free political advice to Democrats is very simple. It's just elect, nominate normal human beings, don't run on men playing in women's sports. Don't run on letting illegal immigrants flood our country and don't let run on letting fraudsters in Minnesota take advantage of the American taxpayer. And you guys would do a lot better right now.
Dave Rubin
Should the Republican vice president be giving advice to the Democrats? Perhaps not. But I think as we get closer to the election, the key for the Republicans is not going to be that oh my God, as I pointed out that Ken Paxton is some amazing campaigner. All star, right? The guy isn't. I think he will probably be just fine. And he's a Republican, so he's not completely insane. But the key to the whole thing will just be showing how radical James Talarico is. Here is video 32A.
Joseph
Do you know any undocumented immigrants? No, I do not. When I was a teacher on the west side of San Antonio, I taught a lot of students who were undocumented. And I don't want to stereotype, but those students tended to be the most patriotic, the hardest working students that I had in the classroom. And again, I haven't stated this enough to say this definitively, but there are interpretations of certain passages from the Torah where some folks will even say that there is a. There is some subtle instructions for how to perform an abortion in the ancient world. Certain things to drink, things like that. Before we go further, I want to acknowledge that our trans community needs abortion care too.
Dave Rubin
I mean, this guy is bananas. It doesn't matter whether illegals were working hard, they're still illegals. The Torah is pro abortion. I've never heard that one before. Like okay. And that trans people need abortion care. You'd have to really explain that to me because let's say you're a dude and then you're pretending you're a woman. You still can't give birth. But he's a Democrat in 2026. And now what he's doing, because now he's got the Democrat nomination locked up. What do you have to do? You're a bananas lefty, but you have to start working, walking it back, come back to the center so you can trick the average Texan who maybe isn't paying attention that much. And here is some video of him walking back some of his stuff and trying to be more moderate. He's just a guy. He's a guy who's moderate.
Joseph
I am a believer in the second Amendment. I don't pick and choose between the Bill of Rights. I believe in the second Amendment just as much as I believe in the first. I called out Joe Biden for failing to secure our southern border and I got a lot of heat in my own party for doing that. We have to protect good paying oil and gas jobs. You know my, I've had family members who have worked in the oil and gas industry. I went to Texas public schools funded by Texas Oil and Gas. So I owe a lot to the industry.
Dave Rubin
Okay, so there he is taking some more moderate positions. Joseph, can you roll back for me? We've got some notes on some of the things he's done here. Actually as far as it's pertains to the second Amendment, Talarigo led legislation restricting handgun sales and tried to prevent Texas from being a constitutional carry state. So what he just said there was complete nonsense as it pertains to the border. Let's not forget we've shown you this video before. He said, and I quote, we should treat our southern border like our front porch. Which I guess that means, oh, these kids are working so hard, let's give them some lemonade. Maybe a Tom Collins would be nice. And then as far as it turned as far as relates to Texas and oil, he introduced a bill in Texas to eliminate the oil and gas industry called the Texas Climate Action Act. I'm watching Landman right now. And Billy Bob Thornton would have several four letter words for that. A bit more from Fox News. Democrat James Talarico is trying to rebrand himself as a Texas BBQ lover after previously bragging about running a non meat campaign. Look at that guy, he loves meat. The photo comes after Senate hopeful Talarico faced a barrage of vegan accusations. When resurfaced videos showed him embracing a meat free campaign and claiming we are only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses. I hope if nothing else, if not going after the oil industry, if not going for the guns and everything else was enough, trans people can have babies. I hope the meat thing takes him down. So we will leave that there. Now I want to come back to something that we covered. When did the original stabbing happen? Gosh, it's probably over six months ago now, right? Wow, it's over a year ago. You may remember this story about a kid by the name of Austin Metcalfe who was stabbed, who was a young white man, high school kid, who was stabbed in April of 2025 by a guy named Carmelo Anthony. Not former NBA player Carmelo Anthony, who's my most hated player, the guy never passed, but a young man by the name of Carmelo Anthony who happened to be black. This happened in Frisco, Texas and there were some conflicting reports on what had happened. Whether Carmelo was sitting in the wrong spot and Metcalf asked him to move whatever happened. That's stillwe'll find out a little bit more of that as this trial unfolds. But no matter what, if someone comes up to you and says you're sitting in the wrong section or you're a dick or whatever it might be, you're not allowed to stab people in the chest and have them bleed out, which is exactly what happened. So Carmelo Anthony, the young black kid is, and I'm only mentioning the race because everything has been put in the lens of racism these days. He of course is claiming self defense, although he was not attacked by Austin Metcalfe. Here's Will Kane on a little bit more around the story. And by the way, I should mention the reason I'm even flashing back to the story right now is I have a feeling this one could morph into the next George Floyd, almost O.J. simpson kind of thing when it comes to race, you know, well, policing in some sense, but race and the law. And I think it's worth paying attention to. So here's Will Kane, the biggest headline. It came from a 17 year old schoolmate of Metcalf who testified that he didn't see anyone crowding Carmelo Anthony at the time of the stabbing. This seemingly debunks Anthony's narrative that he was ambushed and acted in self defense. It's the return of Dominique Alexander, a representative for the family of Carmelo Anthony. He's the leader of Dallas Next Generation Action Network for individuals who come here
Jesse Waters
to sole purpose on provoking conflict and creating division. Our message for those supporting Carmelo Anthony is simple. Do not allow yourself to be baited in. We have seen the extremist rhetoric.
Dave Rubin
The extremist rhetoric. Okay, well that guy, Dominique Alexander, and it was a little unclear whether he was a lawyer or whether he was a preacher. They're calling him the spokesman for Carmelo Anthony. Little information on him. He was convicted in 2011 for injuring his ex girlfriend's two year old son and was sent to prison. Also in 2019 he was arrested for choking and headbutting his girlfriend. I know that if I was on trial for murdering somebody, he seems like the guy I would want to be my representative. But again, the reason there's all these stabbings. We get stabbings, you know, five people were stabbed in Penn Station two days ago. Nobody's even talking about that. It was some crazy homeless person. Like congrats, New York City. But again, the reason I'm shining the light on this one and I think why will is as well is this has the markings of something that could hit much bigger culturally as the, as the trial comes. And it has very weird. There's a racial, the unfortunate racial connotation around it also. 21 people were shot in Chicago this weekend. Three dead. Nobody cares because it's all black on black, usual stuff. Anyway, here are some of the Carmelo Anthony supporters and some people who are, I suppose, supporters of Austin Metcalfe who is now dead and as you can imagine, didn't go that well. I'm gonna push you if I get close enough.
NBA Insider
Push you right into that crane.
Dave Rubin
You heard what I said, Cracker, Neanderthal. I don't give a what you say. All right, so you can see there's a guy standing there with the American flag. He's a supporter, I guess of. Of Austin Metcalfe or wants to. Wants Carmelo Anthony, I suppose to go to jail. There's no debate as to whether he stabbed him and killed him. That is a fact. Whether they're going to argue self defense or whatever. I guess one of the guys had a confederate flag. Like it just feels like it has a lot of the markings of the craziness. Here's a bit more from one of the Carmelo Anthony supporters. He was not an aggressor. Carmelo was not an aggressor. He was minding his damn business when them boys came up to him.

Okay, so you can see, you can see what I'm showing you here. It just has the markings. She doesn't know what happened. But either way, if someone comes up to you, you're watching a football game at a school and someone comes up to you and you're sitting in the wrong seat or your team is supposed to be on their side or whatever it might be, and even if they were being dicks and even if they said, I don't think anyone's accusing them of this, but even if they said something racial and said something very mean, or even if they pushed you, and this is where it would get a little messy, if they physically assaulted you, could you stab them in the chest? I'm not exactly sure what the self defense laws over there are, but in terms of verbal accosting of somebody, you can't just stab them. So anyway, let's leave that there. I just think there's something around this case that feels like it's going to be something bigger, but I think it will also connect us to where I wanted to end the show today because so much of what I've been pointing out over the last couple months is where America will be less than one month from now. We are about to turn 250 years old and we should be so damn proud of this place. It's warts and all and it's not perfect. And me, me, me. And we can do all those qualifications every damn day, every second of the day and we can pretend we're all so much better than everyone that came before us and they were such backwards racist morons and we're just so enlightened and brilliant and of course that's just nonsense in most cases. They were way, way better than us. But what we need to do, what we freedom loving people and people who are proud to be Americans do is we better sell this thing better. And I mean that from the top Trump to you, right you the citizen. And I don't mean that he's better than you. What I mean is you're the ground up version of this. And we better sell this freaking country and we better sell it and we better sell it hardcore for the next few months or we will lose the midterms. That's where we will be at. And then it won't be long till we're a communist nation. Because that's what the Democrats are at this point. I don't think that's over the top to argue. Those are their words. They want government control over everything. Look what's happening in New York City. So one more man. We're giving you the trifecta today. Throw in the warning. Here is Sunny Hostin. And this isn't even the View, it's just Sunny Hostin of the View. But we felt the warning was still necessary, explaining why she can't really celebrate 250 years even though she's a millionaire, married to a guy who's worth tens of millions of dollars and does whatever she wants all day and wears those big ass shoulder pads. But she can't just celebrate this place.
Sunny Hostin
So you want me to celebrate 1776, when my ancestors were not free, Right? That we're not in, we're not independent, didn't get independence? I mean, think about that. Think about what a big ask that is. It's pretty significant.
Dave Rubin
Can you look at the 250 and
Joseph
say there are things to celebrate about the fact that America's got a birthday, that it's here and there are parts of our history, but it's complicated and
Sunny Hostin
we've got to be honest about it. That's the most important is there are many people that refuse to be honest about it, that still say this is the greatest nation in the world. Other nations don't agree with that.
Dave Rubin
Who cares about other nations? Go to other nations. Other nations still have modern slavery, right? Other nations had slavery well before we did. And within 100 years, in about 90 years of us founding our great country and our founders who were very conflicted about slavery and many of whom who were writing the laws to free the slaves while they were birthing the nation, they had a civil war to end slavery. The Republican Party was founded to end slavery. Not the Democrat Party, the Republican Party. And that's why the split occurred and that you're not proud of that. And I'm sorry that we're not perfect and you sit there as a millionaire, married to a guy who's worth tens of millions. But of course, the funny part is that, as you know, I love showing this clip. It turns out that Sonny it was your ancestors who enslaved people.
Sunny Hostin
But what I found out was that my mother's family, while they are Puerto Rican, they actually originate from Spain. And the reason that they moved to Puerto Rico is because the slave trade had been sort of canceled in Spain and then Curacao, and then they moved all of their slaves to Puerto Rico. And so the family business. I had been told that they were printers and journalists, but they were in fact enslavers. And my mother.
Dave Rubin
Hush fell over the oil.
Sunny Hostin
It was deeply disappointing.
Dave Rubin
You know, I just had a thought. She's always talking about reparations. Can I get reparations for having to play these clips? If anything, I owe you guys money. I should be paying reparations to the audience for hitting them in the head with this nonsense. But like, that's it right there, lady. So you want reparations and you're not proud of the country. And it turns out your family owned slaves. Mine didn't. Right. Like, it's just absolutely gross. And when you guys come in and you say that you're not proud of this nation and you're not proud of the founding of this nation and you don't like capitalism while you cash your checks and all, all those things and you open up the borders and you don't defend the culture, you know what happens? It's not just that we get Mamdha Me in New York and we get Nithya Rahman in LA and all of the other lunatics. Look at this one out of Carrollton, Texas, this guy, his name is Zul Mohammed. Zul from Ghostbusters? Zul Mohammed, he's from Pakistan and well, listen to this gem. Believe a guy who hates American veterans, who gave him the freedom to see say what you're saying. No one gave me freedom. My parents are the only people that made sacrifice. No vet has made any sacrifice. I want to make that clear. I do not support the U.S. military. No. I do not support the United States. I look down on both entities. I want to make that clear.
NBA Insider
You know what?
Dave Rubin
How do you feel about veterans? I. I don't. I don't support veterans. The only, only vets. The only vets I support are the ones that take care of, denaturalize and deport. That man wants to be mayor of Carrollton, Texas. Denaturalize and deport. Get rid of him. Enough of this. We will either get serious about this stuff or we will completely fail as a nation. He's a first generation immigrant and there he is, not proud of the entity he calls the United States, the entity. We better fix this.
Jesse Waters
Here's one more from JD we cannot rebuild Western civilization. We cannot rebuild the United States of America or Europe by letting millions and millions of unvetted illegal migrants come into our country. It has to stop. Thank God it stopped here, but it's got to stop there.
Dave Rubin
Well, J.D. let me go a little more hardcore right wing than you. It's not that we have to just stop the illegals coming in. We got to deal with the ones like that guy who somehow legally came here, his parents came here and sacrificed, but none of our veterans sacrificed. And then they brought up that ingrate who would gladly who's not proud of the entity that is the United States while he's running for mayor in Texas. Host: Dave Rubin
Date: June 9, 2026
In this episode, Dave Rubin takes a sweeping look at the collision between politics, sports, and media culture, triggered by Donald Trump’s unexpected attendance at the NBA Finals in New York City. Rubin discusses how Trump’s presence polarized public figures and pundits, including surprising (albeit brief) defense from Whoopi Goldberg on The View. The episode expands to tackle election integrity concerns in Los Angeles and Texas, media hypocrisy, and ongoing cultural shifts affecting American political discourse. Rubin’s signature irreverent, combative tone permeates the show as he underscores the broader theme: the politicization of every aspect of American life, the erosion of trust in institutions, and the urgent need to renew faith in America’s core values.
“In normal times, any president showing up...everybody should be happy about it...But of course, it became hugely politicized and all the usual people did the usual stuff.” (04:11, Dave Rubin)
“But that he showed up too, despite the fact that Whoopi is gonna make sense here. Yeah, we just have to play it. It’s just baked in at this point.” (07:36, Dave Rubin)
“Sports should create more of a sense of community, not less.”
— NBA Commissioner Adam Silver (14:34)
“So the point here is we don’t know exactly what happened...something feels so fraudulent and the fact that they are telling us there’s no chance that it’s fraudulent...makes people not believe the system is honest.” (21:31)
“There is no election fraud in California. Donald Trump is making it up. He can’t point to a shred of evidence...” (26:43)
“If it was the reverse right now...she’d [Sunny Hostin] be screaming...” (29:57)
“He’s a Democrat in 2026. And now...because he’s got the Democrat nomination locked up...you have to start working, walking it back, come back to the center so you can trick the average Texan who maybe isn’t paying attention that much.” (44:01)
“So you want me to celebrate 1776, when my ancestors were not free, right?...Think about what a big ask that is.” (52:46) “It turns out...your ancestors...enslaved people. Mine didn’t. Right?” (55:00, Dave Rubin)
“It just feels like it has a lot of the markings of the craziness.” (49:02, Dave Rubin)
“We will either get serious about this stuff or we will completely fail as a nation.” (56:23, Dave Rubin)
“I am telling you that one day we are going to find out that man is not human. He is so robotic and so pre programmed...” (06:06)
“We should be using sports to create more of a sense of community with people, not less.” (14:34)
“It’s an absolute fiasco, a total shambles...riddled with total uselessness and incompetence.” (32:58)
“We better sell this freaking country and we better sell it hardcore for the next few months or we will lose the midterms. That's where we will be at. And then it won’t be long till we’re a communist nation.” (52:22)
“So you want me to celebrate 1776, when my ancestors were not free, Right? That we’re not independent?” (52:46)
Dave Rubin’s episode is a fast-moving, pointed critique of a culture where even sports and basic civic trust have become battlegrounds for tribal politics. He calls out both left-wing and, occasionally, right-wing excesses, but his chief concern is the rise of radical ideas, election distrust, and eroding pride in American identity. By spotlighting the “Whoopi defends Trump” moment, election intrigue, and changing norms on patriotism, Rubin paints a picture of a country in desperate need of unity, persuasion, and principled backbone if it hopes to survive its 250th birthday with its freedoms intact.
