Let'S do it. Big win by the Eagles in the super bowl rematch. Is that the best win of the entire week? Yes, probably. I don't know that there's a lot of bait, a lot of debate about the worst loss. Not that all of them are terrible losses, but just a few different things and storylines to pick from. And I'm going to talk some college ball as well after we speak with Diana Rossini, who has more on the Dolphins situation, more on the Giant situation at quarterback in that loss and overtime to the Dallas Cowboys, but yet Russell Wilson Redemption time Week two From Week one we've got some stuff on the Niners and Mac Jones, the Burrow injury, how long that one could go for. And we also have some stuff on the Vikings and one of the storylines from the summer that didn't go over well with Vikings fans and of course, life advice. So the biggest problem for Kansas City, at least that was apparent in this game, is the four man Rush isn't working. You say the five man Rush wasn't exactly working. They had a Blitz Hertz on 64% of his dropbacks. I've seen some different numbers there, but it's all above 60%, the highest blitz percentage that Spagnolo's used since he became the defensive Corp. Coordinator in Kansas City in 2019, and it still felt like Hertz had all day to throw on some of the bigger downs. Even with all that not working, Hertz still felt like he, like I said, had all day. He was only 15 to 22 for 101 yards, nine rushes for 15 yards. So they contained the hurts part of this. The receivers, if you look at AJ and Devonte's combined numbers, 80 yards receiving and then held up pretty well until that 28 yard completion on third and 10 which kind of sealed the game. Devonte just wins the ball and then sets up the Tush push to make it 2010. And that's kind of game and we'll get to the Kelsey mistake here in a second. But look, I still think Kansas City's a good football team. I'm not going to this message is a paid partnership with Apple Card if there's one thing I love about my Apple Card right now, it's how good it is for my wallet. No joke. Apple Card issued by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City branch terms and more@applecard.com start like, even with your issues, you know, maybe they're not the clear favorites. Hey, it's them and then everybody else in the afc. Certainly not with them losing the super bowl last year. So there's not really moral victories when you're held to the standard that the Chiefs are the standard that they would hold themselves to and be like, hey, at least we didn't get our asses kicked this time by the Eagles. But there were a lot of things in this game where once that 28 yard completion happened. Because you're still wondering, you know, I think whenever you watch Mahomes, you're kind of wondering, is he going to be able to figure this out? And when Kelsey bobbles the ball to end zone that possession alone, like, I still think the Chiefs might find a way to pull this out. Even though I think we'd all collectively say we'd like The Eagles roster 1 through 53 better than probably any other team in the NFL that sets up the Tush push on the Devonte catch. And you know, really good job. I think by the television broadcast of showing You. I felt like this is the most damning replay of the Tush push yet. Like, oh, so four guys false start on that offensive line. And even watching it set up, you're like, how is who. How many guys are offsides here, offense and defense. So you know, they had a vote to ban it. It was 22 to 10 in favor of banning it. They needed to be 24 to 8. I feel like that replay alone when they vote on this because that was the vote in May of 25 of this year. So they'll vote again next year. That replay alone feels like it would be enough to get two more people to be like, yeah, enough of this. Because look, it is boring, but it's legal and it's unstoppable in Philadelphia. Does it? And if I were an Eagles fan, I would defend it to the death. And when you're not an Eagles fan, you just go like, oh, I guess they're going to do this. And even when you think you stop them, Hertz is so strong and in the push behind him, it's like, oh no, you thought you stopped in the second wave coming. So again, that's not why they won. Certainly not why they won. Chiefs had 10 points, the Kansas City Chiefs had 10 points. And you have the Mahomes miss on Thornton, then he ends up hitting him later. But it's a two possession game. You get into the punt decision, the timeout decision, there was a lot of stuff in there I didn't necessarily like. So Kansas City's O line, I still think there's questions. Although great play by the rookie on that touchdown saving play after the Kelsey Bobble, Rice still suspended. Were the injured again, I can't really get too dismissive of them. The Bobble in the end zone, Kelsey's had two bad plays right at the goal line back to back weeks to start the season. And you know, the more you watch this Mahomes story develop, which I do think is always kind of like, you know, he's chasing one guy in Brady here. And it's important to remember there were these long Brady gaps. I mean he was still terrific. But you're like, oh, he went that long without winning a Super Bowl. It's almost like the second act or three acts for Brady if you really want to get into it. But the Mahomes numbers from 1822, I mean, I expect that we'll see that version again at some point once he has better receivers and they figure out some of the O line stuff, maybe it's spending less on the, you know, just like the long term next 10 years, which is really stupid to do after week two here because he's 30 years old. But I do think about it in that there are a lot of arguments to be made about, you know, you just look at the year to year stuff and the slow start they're getting to offensively here again. Yeah, there's, there's numbers and charts that back. Any argument for the fact that he's declining? I just don't think he's a declining football player, even if the numbers show it. So then there's the 02 start thing that I despise. Since 1990, teams that start 02 make the playoffs 11 and a half percent of the time. Last year we had Baltimore and the Rams do it. Cincinnati, when they made it to the AFC championship game and lost to Kansas City, they went 0 2. The 0 and 2 number is weighted down by all the teams that suck for all of those decades. It's a lot like the running back career longevity number where if you look at running backs on average their careers last 2.6 years and we hear about it all the time. I think big running back is very powerful in the lobbying world. No one ever talks about the receivers lasting 2.8 years in their career. So the running back number gets weighted down by all the running backs that are all going to get cut. The guys that are drafted late, the guys that are undrafted, the guys that are drafted earlier, they're going to get cut and then it turns into this like running back awareness momentum. Although I feel like that's worn off a bit. I don't know if those guys are still doing the zoom meetings. I'd love to know, but that 0 and 2 number is just weighted down by all of these terrible teams. So it sounds kind of interesting when you're on TV on Monday, but I just don't really think it makes all that much sense. Kansas City also, By the way, 26th in the NFL right now, two weeks in on third down conversion. So still think that's clearly the best win. Going to Kansas City and taking down a team that I still think is going to be part of the playoff conversation. Worst loss, we have a lot of options. You could say Broncos are Colts, unless you think the Colts might be good. Broncos missed a 40, 42 yarder that would have put them up 31, 26. But then Danny Dimes, you can't give him 315 right down the field. That sets up the game winning field goal. Daniel Jones now is sixth in the NFL and QBR. He's completing 71% of his passes. The Colts are ninth on third down conversions as a team so that can't be the worst loss because what if the Colts are sneaky good? I remember reading a preview that was basically like yes, the quarterback situation is likely a mess and could be a carousel. Who knows what's going to happen. But it's actually a nice roster. It's a talented roster. I remember thinking like that's like the nicest way to say this team's done okay but has no chance whatsoever. And now I'm starting to wonder if Giants fans that demanded apologies about some of the criticisms of Daniel Jones being drafted as high as he was are those Giants fans feeling better today that Jones has gotten off to the start and maybe they were right all those years ago? Probably not. We'll get to that game is Miami's lost the worst loss. Tua started 17 and 19 in this game against the Pats at home. Then we had the punt return touchdown where the Pats tackling looked terrible, immediately followed by a kick return for a touchdown by the Pats. Tua next two possessions, throws a pick, was a bad pick. Then he was sacked on fourth down where you just can't take that sack. So even though the numbers were there, Tyreek was more involved in this game. I guess they had to have a players only meeting after week one and whenever the Dolphins are losing, Mike McDaniel looks like a guy who works part time, not full time, part time at Snarfs. So it just never really looks like it. Whenever they lose now it's and this is a really nasty way to lose. And considering the money that they spent over the cap over these years that McDaniel has been there, they have not been afraid to spend and look, it's an okay pats team. Drake May 3rd down pass incredible. His run in avoiding a sack really nice. They've done a good job with him it feels like to start the season. But I don't think the Pats are necessarily good. So it's more about the back and forth drama of this game. Tua getting off to this incredibly efficient start and then having the two terrible decisions on those last couple possessions. But I still don't think that's the worst loss. Jacksonville at Cincinnati how about this one? Burrow who will ask more about with Diana Rossini as she joins the show a little bit later. Burrow is going to be out maybe a few months with this toe injury so he goes down, Browning comes in but A lot of you remember Browning in 23, stepping in seven starts. Team went four and three, so you're still in it. Going to throw some picks, doesn't matter. Going to stay in this one. So he leads a 15 play, 92 yard drive to go up 31, 27 with 18 seconds left. And on that possession, Jacksonville gives up a pass interference. Well, they get called for a pass interference, giving up a first down on a fourth and five. And that's one of those deals you're like, burrow's out. Even though we're on the road, Trevor Lawrence is kind of putting up big numbers, but I'll be It's three touchdowns that first one. He was late. Like it was a read across the back of the end zone and they showed the end zone angle from it, you know, like he actually almost missed him and he was wide open. The picks weren't great. And it's just the same with Lawrence. Like the QBR number's now the worst he's had to start this season again. It's only two games, but it's the worst that he's had since his rookie season. The completion percentage is disaster. We're in year five and there's a lot of hope with the new offense and a new head coach that's just going to be quarterback and offense first. What Liam has done with Baker and yet it really kind of looks the same. And then to lose against Cincinnati without Burrow. So that's on the board. Buffalo killing the Jets. Justin Fields fans will always have week one. He was 3 and 11 for 27 yards. When you get knocked out at the beginning of the fourth quarter, I don't think it's that you'd expect to lose to the Bills. I'm going to go Bears. They gave up 52 points to Detroit. There's an added storyline of Ben Johnson going up against his former team. 52 points is the fifth most the Bears have given up in franchise history. At times their defensive backs look like Wisconsin going up against the skill players for Alabama. Vegas still just doesn't like Detroit. To win the nfc, they went from eighth to seventh. Best odds to win the nfc. They're behind Arizona. Still, they jumped Washington, which I think if you look at Washington and you realize, okay, Giants, the first Thursday game of the season, you've got to go to Green Bay. Everybody loves Green Bay right now. I think getting off of Washington might be a little too soon. Even if you're worried about some second season having tape knowing how to pitch Jaden Daniels. But Look, I just can't fathom that Arizona has better NFC odds than Detroit does. Now, San Francisco's still third on FanDuel to win the NFC and they're missing two of their four, two of their five best players already. So, Caleb, here's some positives in this one. His pressure rate went down and the bad throw percentage that we cited last week after the Monday nighter went up. Well, excuse me, I should say it the other way. The bad throw percentage went down, the pressure went down. So meaning it went up, meaning it got better. There's really not much else to say because they got their asses kicked. So I don't know that it's just a Caleb thing when you're giving up 52 points. He did get benched, but it may have been just to protect him. How about some numbers? Daniel Jones went 16 to 25 for 265 yards yesterday against Denver's blitz. That's the fourth most passing yards against the blitz in a game since 2016. Cleveland, yes, they lost, but did they do anything that would resemble a blueprint game in their approach to slowing down Baltimore's rushing offense? I kept tracking this game because it didn't make a screen, but when it was 20 to 3, Baltimore still only had 1.8 yards per carry and Derrick Henry had 6 yards on 6 carries. So maybe the blueprint is Miles Garrett and having the best edge guy, the most disruptive force on the defensive side of the ball in the league. Look, they still lost 41 17, so I don't know if this one will go down as a blueprint game. But I couldn't believe those rushing numbers because when they played Buffalo in that game and Collinsworth is going over all the different options and the mesh point stuff, and you think it's Henry, then it's Lamar after we set up Henry. And then when you go, you know, zone and you try to keep safeties back, just to be able to tackle some of these guys in the open field and say flowers are running all over the place. It felt unfair. It's like Baltimore and granted they lose the game, it's like, is Baltimore going to have an unfair offense? And those things don't really exist. I mean, we'd lost our minds there for a while being like, what are we going to do with these passing attacks? Like, what's going to happen here? And you know, sports are great because there's always. There always seemed to be some sort of counter for all this kind of stuff. I don't know if Cleveland's discovered the counter. I don't know if it's because of the division game. They're just a little bit more used to them and all that kind of stuff. And look, they still got their ass kicked here, so we can't really call a blueprint game. I just couldn't believe those rushing totals. So number three here, we've got to talk about Russell Wilson. Because if I say after week one, he looks like he's going to be the first quarterback benched. And then I said, it doesn't even seem all that insightful because it was the entire story out of New York the whole week. He gets off to an incredible first half. Their left tackle there, that guy, he had four penalties on that one possession. And then he went to the sideline and just lost it, which I can kind of understand, but it's like, hey, you're making it worse. Like, you are screwing up almost every snap. And. And now like he punched that guy in the head and then couldn't believe he got the penalty. Then he had the two false starts. Then he had another roughing or unnecessary roughest roughness penalty. D's just like circling his finger on the sideline, being like, we gotta get somebody else in there. And then it's like. And now you're gonna get mad. I mean, I know you're mad at yourself, but like, how do you want us to handle this? Give you a hug. So Russell Wilson ends up with 450 yards in this game and three touchdowns. He hits the huge shot to Robinson, the huge shot to Neighbors, and he's just throwing these moon balls up there. And credit to him for doing it. Like, I start to wonder if the best way to attack sometimes is like, if I have any kind of one on one. I mean, the Neighbors one was against essentially two defensive backs, but I have no idea what the safety was doing. Like, what are you looking for underneath? Like, Neighbors is going here and Neighbors as an aside, I mean, if it's Chase or Jefferson, coin toss. How many other people are you putting ahead of Neighbors in that group? Like, his Neighbors already the third best receiver in the NFL. And considering what that guy did last year as a rookie with what the Giants had at quarterback, I mean, sure, there's a lot of names that we can throw around and everything, but I don't. I mean, the real question, the real segment, if you were teasing on a radio show, would be, how close is Malik Neighbors being to the best receiver in the NFL? I don't know that I can do that right now. With the other two dudes in front of him, but I don't know that I'd have a problem putting him third. So the Wilson game, you know, he ends with the pick. I mean, Dallas is absurd with Aubrey, this kicker. He hits a 64 yarder and they're like totally fine lining up from that far out. They've changed the balls. So you're already seeing these kickers just bomb it away two weeks into the season because of how they're handling the prep with the ball and then they win it in overtime on the field goal. So I don't really care about the Wilson part, but like to hit those two bombs to go for 450 yards and then also be platooned technically because they had the Jackson dart package handoff that worked. When he fell down, that didn't work. Wilson looks furious. Wilson after he hits neighbors and everybody's congratulating him, he almost had this look of like, now everybody likes me here. So that was kind of cool to see some personality out of him. And he leads the NFL in passing yards right now, but kind of a brutal loss. And I know this sounds crazy when you give up that many points, but there's guys on the Giants defense that I do really like. Couple asides here to finish off. If you're a team or you're a fan base that has a quarterback situation you already don't like. If you're already thinking about the 26 draft, I would tell you to not watch Saturday because so many of these guys are projected first rounders have not looked great. So I don't know what the 26 draft is going to look like. Yes, it is really early. Speaking of quarterbacks, what's the worst? Let's rank these what's the worst scenario to have if you're a qb? To have the guy behind you be better than you, the guy drafted behind you be better than you, to have your backup have incredible pr or to blow up in a primetime game, I don't know. I would say having the guy drafted behind you be better than you is the worst prime time it's going to happen. Backup excellent PR is probably the second worst. That's moved since this morning at Las Vegas. Small play, not official. Chargers minus three and a half. I like Tampa plus the two and a half. What I did is I looked at the alternate spread. Let's see if it's still here. I like Tampa plus four and a half minus 166. That's my official play and if I want to go Egbuca who lit it up a bit in the first week he had six targets. Mike Evans had eight. So second most targets 67 yards. Week one in the win against Atlanta 50 plus yards minus 136 is the other play that I like for the Monday Nighters but a little more focused on that Tampa game. Diana, this seems serious. What's the latest?
Ryan Rosillo
All right, so he's gonna get surgery. It's. It's turf toe, which, I don't know. I feel like turf toe sounds so simple, right? It sounds like a paper cut to me, but it's not right. And I had somebody explain it to me on Sunday night. He's like, essentially, it's like the knee. The big toe is the knee of the foot. Think of it that way. All the same ligaments that you have in your knee, you essentially have in your big toe. And he tore a bunch of those ligaments. So if it was in his knee, it would obviously be pretty scary and freaky, but it's just as difficult, and you have to get that repaired, which is why he chose to get the surgery we've seen in the past. I think it was. Patrick Mahomes had it once. He played with it. You know, the guys will shoot it up before the game, but this is to get this fixed, to get this right, because it's also really painful. Brock Purdy's dealing with it too, but on a lower level. It's just like, on a lower scale, he's dealing with a torn ligament as well, but it's. He doesn't have multiple ones like we're seeing with Joe Burrow. So we're talking minimum three months. So that puts us at December ish, if all things go well. So obviously, like, here we are again, another story about Joe Burrow dealing with an injury.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, you're right. Turf toe needs to be rebranded as something. Because I've just. I've even had buddies over the years like, oh, I can't believe that's that big. And it's just like, nobody seems to understand what the injury is.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. What. What weakens it? Is it the word turf or toe?
Kyle Ceruti
I think turf. Yeah.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. I. I think it should just be. Yeah. I think we. We need to come up with a new term for what that is. Like, something that would gross people out, that you're like, oh, oh, that's bad. I don't want that.
Kyle Ceruti
You know, whenever I hear patella tendon, I'm like, oh, that must be bad or.
Ryan Rosillo
Or torn Achilles. You're like, oh, because you can just feel it, right? Yeah. We need, like, a slashed foot or something, you know, like, something net or, like, you know, people, like, slash their spleens or get their spleens cut up and you hear that laceration. Laceration, yeah. You're like, oh, so, yeah, let's try to think of this because this, these guys are tough, right? Like, there's no one's questioning Joe Burrow's toughness as he's hopping off and which. Get. Get it. Get a cart for him. Like, I don't understand. I don't know if it's true that the Bengals are the only team that don't have one, but get the guy a bite. Get him something. Just watching him limp off was. Was that. That was a harder watch for me than the actual injury on the field.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah. I don't know if it's true about the cart thing. I mean, if you don't know, then I certainly wouldn't know. But I do know that like some players will go out of their way to be like, I'm not going to be in the cart, like, no matter what happens, like, I'm not getting in it.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah, that, that's fine. But I've never seen, like, I didn't see it. But you know what, you know, when you do see the cart, when the owner's around, remember, like during all the contract drama, like, Mike Brown is just like in the car and Joe sitting passenger and they're talking about the deals. So they have them. They're out there.
Kyle Ceruti
Let's talk a little bit about Miami here because, you know, not. I mean, as soon as they lost week one to the Colts, which then can become a Colts question that I think is probably worthwhile here considering the start that they've had. You know, it looks like this horrible loss because the Colts bar maybe doesn't look as bad now, but you know, I don't think that past team is any good and they're at home and it looks like it's going to work out for them. It's back and forth game and then they have the mistakes at the end. And then you read about the week one part of this, having a players only meeting and you know, receivers are just selfish guys, especially the premier receivers. And for Tyree Kill to have to like acknowledge all of these things, and I can understand that he's frustrated, but it's like, well, you wanted to get paid somewhere and you got paid and now you're going to be a distraction for a team. Like the last thing this team needs is for somebody to ego out. So I don't know what the players only meeting was like. I mean, it's a. It's just a bummer of a loss because he felt like, hey, you're going to feel good, you're going to beat New England. And then to lose in that fashion, to have the mistakes at the end of just seems like a mess really quick.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. And for year four between with Tua and McDaniel, right. Like you want it to be better. And at times we've seen it. I mean, what it was just two years ago, we saw when they hosted Denver and hung 70 on Sean Payton. Remember that? It was like, oh my gosh, they're reforming the offense and what it's going to look like. And he looked like a genius and. And it just, it looks rudderless now. Right. They don't look motivated. They don't. There's tons of self infliction. You know, even during camp I heard about some cultural issues. Usually that's just like a nice way to say there's players talking up and players not buying in to the program and not doing the things that they need to do. And look, you got to figure Jalen Ramsey was maybe part of that. We've seen him before. We've seen him do it, right. Like, he's pretty outspoken and you know, you see him now with the Steelers defense, that's not great either. But he's made some plays. So they obviously address some of that going, all right, we gotta, we gotta fix some of this and get rid of some of the issues. But the issues are still there. And two is part of it, but they need them. One of the stories I worked on over the weekend was whether or not this team would trade Tyreek Hill. No, they're not going to do that because this offense needs a weapon in what Tyreek Hill is. He's still good. I don't think he's one of the top three receivers playing football right now, but Tua relies on him. And it just seems these two defenses, I mean, Luanna Rumo had Tua in a blender, you know, just completely confused. New England obviously took a page from that. Not saying that the Patriots defense is that stellar, but they at least look like they wanted it more too. And these are two teams that were trying to avoid an 02 start. And so look, the Dolphins are in a really bad position here. They've got the Bills on a short week, right? Then they've got this long essentially week before they play a Monday Night Football. So you got to wonder if there's going to be changes. And I have nothing to report at this moment of hot seat, but it doesn't look right like, even McDaniel on the sidelines, he doesn't even look himself. His head was just in the call sheet and usually he's up with the guys. It's just bad vibes, you know, I think it's like, it's that simple. They're the bad vibes team this year.
Kyle Ceruti
You had a note on the Colts from this summer and you know, I was kind of kidding around, like in the beginning of the year, it's like, how did you lose to those guys? And then they take care of Denver. So the Daniel Jones start, I mean, we've seen little stretches of him before, probably with the Giants. Diana over here, like, okay, is it just going to take forever with this guy? And I do think there's some. Clearly, there's the physical gifts and then there's a throw every now and then that I, you know, I think like the holding out hope. This is why we gave him the sort of weird team friendly extension on this kind of stuff, because maybe it's all coming together. So I don't know that I'm going to fall for this all over again, but give me the, the idea of where they were at in the summer and maybe they're less surprised that they're two and oh than everybody else's.
Ryan Rosillo
You're not buying into the Indiana Jones yet.
Kyle Ceruti
I have a hard time with that nickname.
Ryan Rosillo
No, no, I, I get it. Right, Because. Because we saw so much. We saw more bad than good. Right? We saw moments. And I remember talking to Saquon Barkley last summer and I was doing this interview at his house. We were just hanging out on the couch, catching up. And you know, Daniel Jones is one of his best friends, so I'll preface that. But we talked about Daniel Jones for like 30 minutes in terms of just how good he is. And I was asking Saquon a million questions about it, like, why is he. Why do you think he's so good? Like, Saquon was talking to me about him the way you would think he'd be talking about Jalen. And this was the summer before he played with Jalen. But he's like, I'm telling you, he can play. He just. We had no weapons. We had no protection. You know, obviously there was a little bit of play calling, situation, mess, disaster there in New York. York, the, the fresh start for him. And even Daniel Jones time with Kevin OConnell in Minnesota there, Minnesota wanted to keep him, right? So they, they had Sam Darnold, they had Daniel Jones, and of course JJ McCarthy coming off this injury And Daniel Jones wanted the Vikings to basically say, you have a fair shot to win this job. And they couldn't do that because they're all in on jj and so Jones and his camp is like, all right, we got a better shot at winning this job in Indy. Let's go there. And so that's where they wound up going. And they won the job with ease. I know this summer there was a narrative out there of like, oh, this is neck and neck, you know, that was not the case. Like anyone I talked to, there was a dude, Daniel Jones is playing so well. And look, we, we determine great quarterbacks by so many of those, like fabulous off schedule plays, right? Those are what the good guys do. But Daniel Jones is just throwing the on schedule stuff and sometimes that's all you need. And I think that's what he's doing. Well, and back to what Saquon said, look at the way the Colts team is built, right? Let's start with their coach. Great play caller hands down, right? Everyone in the league agrees with that. I think we've been a little in the gray about it because it hasn't been great with Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco. And you're like, what is this? But you look back to who Shane Psych and has worked with, including Jalen Hurts. He's had success. So you give him a quarterback that can at least run what he's looking for and. And then you surround them with a running back who's like Saquon, right? And Jonathan Taylor when he's healthy, with Tyler Warren, a tight end who's, I mean, he's a freaking stud. A decent O line despite the fact that two of those guys are over in Minnesota now. And a solid defense with Lou Anarumo calling it. I mean, you talk about a roster Lou's never had, like, this is the best defense Lou's ever had in terms of talent, I believe maybe outside of that super bowl team or the team that played in the Super Bowl. So I just think he's, he's set up for success. No turnovers. They haven't even punted, you know, so I, I'm with you. It's early. It's that time of year. We love to get excited about teams that may not pan out. But for, you know, the Colts here losing their owner and coming out like this, I didn't see this coming.
Kyle Ceruti
Let's go back to kind of my headline of it because I just didn't want to go. Eagles, Eagles to start both segments of the pod here but, you know, on a day where Hertz doesn't have to light it up, the defense that at times against Dallas, you know, Dallas has some of these offensive numbers, like, okay. I mean, I think they're the number one team on third downs right now. They've. They've put up points in back to back weeks, but there's so many names on this Eagles defense that I like, and it didn't feel like they really made a huge statement until later in that week one game against Dallas. And they basically hold this Chiefs team to 10 points until the late touchdown, up two scores. So those are always, like. I almost wish those counter for like, four points or something, but again, that's my own issue. This Eagles team, we've all talked about being the best. Is there anything about them two weeks in that surprised you? Is there. Is there anything that you weren't thinking about in August that you've seen two weeks in?
Ryan Rosillo
Well, I, I always count the super bowl hangover as real because as our friend Chris Long has told us, like, it's real. It's. It's the off season, it's the partying, it's the enjoyment. I wasn't sure what they would be after this and a change of coordinator. Just seeing what Petullo's doing now and seeing him get warmed up. He's obviously not comfortable. I think they're still trying to sort out their identity here. But I was talking to someone close to Jalen Hurts recently, and I was just asking about Jalen because I'm still trying to understand him. I've had tons of conversations with him over the years, but he's just so mysterious to me. Like, I just. He's hard to describe. And I've asked his teammates to, like, explain him. Like, what. Like, how. How can I get to know him more, just to do my. My job better? And he is really focused and really different. And this person I was talking to who's tight with him was like, he. The difference with Jalen now is he's done it, he's lost it, and he's won it. And in terms of his, like, mental state, he's. He's kind of fearless now. He's not afraid anymore, and it makes all the sense in the world, but I do think losing helps in that. And. And he feels like now he's figured out how to crawl out of that and, and, and obviously win the big one. So just seeing even just. Did you see that back and forth with Chris Jones and him after the game? You know, Chris was Like, giving him of, like, oh, you only had 100 yards. And he's like, yeah, we won the game, you know, And. And. And that, to me, is just a microcosm of who Jalen hurts is. He's just trying to go out there and win. And. And so. So to me, just the fact that they don't. They now look like Kansas City once was right, where they figure out ways to win. It's not perfect yet. It's two games in. You know, they don't look like the team that we saw in the super bowl in New Orleans, but you can see that they will just figure out ways, whether it's on defense, whether it's offense. Fangio is going to come up with something and they're going to win. And I think, to me, that surprises me that they're coming out this hotel.
Kyle Ceruti
Do you think that the Kelce look of a suit with essentially dress shorts looks worse when you bobble a potential going ahead touchdown? Because when they do the fashion show tunnel thing, I always kind of go back to being like, what was the guy wearing? And it just never.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah, me too. Someone on the Giants yesterday had a leather vest on, like, just a leather.
Kyle Ceruti
Vest that I could get with that I actually think is cool, even if he didn't play well.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. But you know what's. You know what, it's always so fun to watch that it's not even. It's not even them walking in. It's them walk them walking through the metal detectors, you know, and it's just like, it just doesn't. It doesn't fit. You know, it's like, you look amazing. You're probably wearing a $25,000 vest, you know, coming through, and you're cool from head to toe, but you don't look cool, like, walking next to, like, two plastic picnic tables and a crappy metal detector, you know, at. At, you know, at the star or at MetLife Stadium, wherever they were. But, yeah, I think it's tough when. When you're making those gestures, too, during the game and you're obviously not the same. And look, I actually think he looks a little bit better in some regards physically on the field than he did last year. But it's obvious that this change Chiefs team is. Is not the same. Like, to me, I have concerns for Kansas City way more than I have concerns about Philly. Philly's closer to being what Philly's going to be. I think this is the year where we can't say, like, we always say, oh, Kansas City. They've got Patrick, they've got Andy. They got Spags. They'll turn this around. They'll be fine. I just. They don't have that same magic. It's too much. Mahomes trying to do it himself and without these receivers and. Look, I know health is a problem, and, you know, we'll see when Rashee Rice gets back in there and Xav Worthy is expected to be back soon. We. We'll see how it changes. But I. I just think for me, that there. This is. This is a new world. This is. This is not the same old Chiefs.
Kyle Ceruti
I want to talk about the tush push a little bit, because I mentioned in the open how it was 22 to 10 in favor of banning it. They needed 24 to 8. I thought the replays were pretty damning.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah.
Kyle Ceruti
For it yesterday. And I'm sure when they put this vote together in the owner's meetings, they have all sorts of clips. You know, the lobbying that goes on. Like, how many votes do we have? Do we have the NFC North? Oh, the NFC north guys are. Again, you know, I'm just kind of making that part of it up. But I. I wonder if some closer inspection of. I mean, that specific replay was really damning.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. Every year it heats up, and that thing was close to getting banned. It was as you. As you just laid out. And people obviously changed their vote because of Jeffrey Laurie and Jason Kelsey's passionate, passionate speech. I talked to a bunch of different owners and people that were in the meeting afterwards, even during. And people were just blown away. Like, Jason Kelsey's crying, and people had goosebumps. It's like. I think there were some.
Kyle Ceruti
Okay, but can you understand how crazy that is? It's ridiculous, Kelsey. But if I were an owner on the fence, if somebody started crying that was benefiting from it and the owner that's benefiting from the play, I'd be like, I'm definitely voting to ban this if I think it's the right thing.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. Like, they're just. They were a victim of the moment. Right. Is that the saying of just. You're just kind of caught up in it, rather than going, wait, we keep losing to them, or they're the reason why we can't get back. Let's get rid of this. Remember, Jeff, Remember Jeffrey Laurie even described to the owners what a Super bowl was, and he called it, like, a little, like a young boy's wet dream. Which, by the way, one of the hardest things for me to report that day when someone texted me that during the meeting was like, jeffrey, Laurie just said this. And, and I, I, I thought the person, like, didn't mean to text me. Like, it's an inappropriate thing to text. So I'm like a wit. Like, as in what I think that means. And it's like, yes. I'm like, how do I tweet that? Like, do I, how am I able to write that?
Kyle Ceruti
I have no follow ups.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah, no, it's fair. I, I, I actually held off. Not that I didn't trust the person. The person's wonderful. I was like, I just feel like I gotta talk to Philly about this. This just seems like something they don't want out there, you know? And he said it like, you gotta write it, you know? So I try to bury it in my story because it just, it felt a little, a little strange. But look, I mocked the wet dream comment. But guess, guess what's still here. The tush push.
Kyle Ceruti
Yep. I, yeah, look, I mean, Kelsey's a really lovable guy. He's awesome. Everybody that spends time with him likes him.
Ryan Rosillo
All right, what would you do if you just said, right, like, because I've thought about this before. Not that we're, not that I want to come on here, go hot takey with you, but I was thinking about this earlier. Like, what if Ryan and I just were like, you know what? We're just kind of over it. Like, we're over him. He's not good anymore. The tailor hiding behind the thing.
Kyle Ceruti
Like, are we, oh, to make that.
Ryan Rosillo
No, like, like we should never say it. Like, are we not allowed to criticize it? I never know what to do here.
Kyle Ceruti
I can understand people not liking it, but I, I think it's, it's just kind of lame. Like, we were talking about this. I was with some friends yesterday. And then of course it comes up, right? Because then it's like you go from the Chiefs Eagles game to an ad where another Kelsey's in it, and it's like, look, the Manning brothers walk so the Kelsey's could run. So let's. I don't know that I could ever really get that mad about anybody optimizing their opportunities.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah.
Kyle Ceruti
You know, and I have no opinion on Taylor Swift other than when I hear a song of hers come on. More often than not, I'm like, oh, that's pretty good. I'm like, I kind of get why she's this popular. Like, she's incredibly. Like, that was a great way to do that or whatever. Like, I'm never going to put it on. I'M never going to be in the car putting it on. I'm certainly not going to work out to it. There'd probably never be a time where I would come home late and be like, you know what? Let's pop on some Taylor Swift and end this night right. But maybe I've just come to a place where, like, what are they doing? They're not really doing anything wrong, so you're going to get on their case. And the other thing, too, is that there's so many people that I know that know both guys, that love both guys to death, that. And there's people that I'm, you know, friendly with that I'm like, okay, well, if they like these two guys this much, and sure. Like, they'd probably be the first to admit that. Yeah. To see me have a catch or see this other guy. And then it's like a couple ads and then a promo right into all these other things that. It's annoying. Yeah, sure. Like the oversaturation point. Like, nobody's famous longer. And then people go, you know, I didn't like them in the beginning, but now that they're everywhere, I'm starting to like them more and more. It's just a natural human instinct for most people to just go, I'm so sick of these dudes. So I wouldn't be upset with anybody saying that I'm sick of them, but I would never. I don't know that I'd ever, like, go, oh, I'm so over it, and turn it into a monologue on, like, a Wednesday podcast. Because it would just feel, at least at this stage of my life, incredibly unfair.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah, I. I agree with you. We vacation in the summer in Seattle city where Jason and his family vacation. And I mean, everyone there from Philly loves to gossip about, oh, I saw Kylie there. Oh, I saw Jason there. But everyone's interactions are always like, they're awesome. Like, you don't keep, like. I mean, I'm talking everyone, like random waiters, bartenders, people that work at the bike rental place. Like, everyone talks about how wonderful and kind they are. And so you can't. You have to just look at it and go, well, those are people that played all of this really well and smart. And if they happen to be also tremendous souls in the meantime, then more power to them. I just think. Remember when Baker Mayfield was doing so many when he was in Cleveland, and it was uncomfortable. Right. The Browns wouldn't have scored a touchdown, like, three games, and it would be some state or whatever. I forgot what big insurance company had at the time?
Kyle Ceruti
Well, he had State Farm and he was great in him. But it is. This is.
Ryan Rosillo
He's still good. I saw one the other day. I'm like, God, he's such a good actor. Like, he's so good. Like, I just.
Kyle Ceruti
This is a very like, predictable thing. Like, I remember when RG3 comes onto the scene and he was in a ton of ads and then you. You don't play as well and it's like, well, how come this guy's in this many ads?
Ryan Rosillo
Well, tell me if you agree with this. I had a coach.
Kyle Ceruti
It just seems unfair to the player. But go ahead.
Ryan Rosillo
Do. Do you agree with this sentiment? I had someone say this and he was like, just always watch those rookie quarterbacks of who does the most business, we'll call it. Those are usually the ones that don't actually believe they'll last that long deep inside their heart. Like they're out there going, got to make as much money as possible because I don't know how long this is going to last. And then you start like ripping through. Like, you don't see Jaden anywhere, right? Like, and I think his is really purpose. Like, I don't see a lot of Jaden Daniels commercials. Do you? I.
Kyle Ceruti
Do think my head. I don't. I know that his mom is like on it, you know, So I don't know if everything has to go through her or what. I don't even know if that would be fair. Like, first of all, it'd be a really hard thing to track. Like, would you just go through every. Every guy in his rookie contract and then you would have to do local and national ads. I mean, we've turned this into a thing that I don't even know that I can come up with a definitive answer. But it's. Whenever it's. It's a very result playing phenomenon that happens is the guy that does a ton of ads that doesn't play well, they end up blaming his ads and it's like, well, maybe, maybe it's like, what about all the other guys that didn't do any ads and didn't play well either? Like, what happened there? You're normally has way more to do with the player than all these other things that we just add onto the pile.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah, I think. I think the lesson is just do them when you're close to being done right. Like the Mannings. And then no one cares because they're just like, oh yeah, I liked you. And then I almost think you reinvent Yourself, where you become even, like, Eli's so likable. Now I live in the New York area. No one liked Eli. Never loves Eli, you know, like, all, like, the dorky, quirky, weird stuff that he used to do as a quarterback is now embraced and cute. So, so. So maybe that's what it is. You just got to pick the right time. And it looks like the Kelsey boys. Grand slam, man.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, I think we handled that. I think we handled that. Well. It sounded like you really wanted to go in on Taylor Swift, and so I was gonna save you from that.
Ryan Rosillo
No, no, I didn't. I didn't. I, like, Darlington was with her the other night, and he, like, texted me, was like, dude, she's incredible. Like, she's like, one of the greatest people I've ever been around. I'm like, that's awesome. Like, you don't hear that consistently, and all you hear about Taylor Swift is just how amazing she is.
Kyle Ceruti
Some people listening to this may be surprised, but Darlington sending a text, hey, I'm with Taylor Swift is maybe one of the least surprising things in the Darlington resume.
Ryan Rosillo
Dude, he's so not like that. Actually, he is around a lot of powerful people.
Kyle Ceruti
That's what I mean.
Ryan Rosillo
I usually.
Kyle Ceruti
No.
Ryan Rosillo
Oh, yeah, that.
Kyle Ceruti
That's what I mean. I'm not talking about bragging about it.
Ryan Rosillo
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Kyle Ceruti
Compliment.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Like, I'm actually impressed about how little he will tell me about situation season until later or if it comes up naturally or his wife offers it up. Like, I'm like, wait, you were on a private jet with the owner of whatever? Like, why? It's like, oh, yeah, I just. I saw him at the grocery store, and, you know, we just start. And the thing is, he doesn't even talk football with anybody. That's always my favorite, like, quality about him. Like, even I, as one of my. My really good friends, I don't think I've ever talked about football with Jeff. He's just. We just. That's just not his strength as he's one of the lead NFL reporters for espn. Like, he's just great at all topics.
Kyle Ceruti
Let's touch on a couple more things here. Speaking of New York and New York fans not liking Eli when he was there, how do you think they feel about Russ today? And what is going on with the Jackson dart package?
Ryan Rosillo
Gosh, I love it. Well, first of all, it's not like a. It's not a Jackson dart package where you're seeing dart on the field at the same time as Ross. Like, we Saw with like Justin Fields, remember, it's more. They run the same offense essentially and they're just trying to use him, I think to just give him the. I think it's like twofold. It's to give him the experience and to get him out there, but also to give the offense a little something. Brian Dable is doing everything he possibly can to win these games knowing that the seat is warm. All right, so look, 500 yards of offense. The last time the Giants did that was, I think Pat Shermer was the head coach, right. So it's been a long time since we saw that. So Russell, I think the Giants are waking up going, all right. Russell Wilson, not perfect, but. But that was pretty damn good. They came to play. The Jackson dart thing is it's. It's one of those break glass situations where they. I think they want to break the glass because I know Brian Dabel loves them. He's got the moxie, he's got the aura about him. We saw a little bit in the preseason, but he's still a rookie. Dable lives in my town and I ran into him at Dairy Queen with my two sons who by the way, I said, boys, you know, they're three and two. I said, this is, this is Coach Dable. He coaches the Giants. And my son Mikey goes, go Eagles. Because he thinks every team is the Eagle. He doesn't understand. So I was like, no, no, no. Anyway, so I quickly just talked to Dable about, about all this and, and I. We just had a good, smart conversation about quarterbacks and just trying to be patient. Something that I know Minnesota wants right now with JJ mc like it doesn't matter how good they are, you just, you want them to get that experience, but you don't want to mess them up. You don't want to put them in too soon and you certainly in New York do not want to put them out there without Andrew Thomas out there. I'm hoping Andrew Thomas is going to be getting back this week. He was trending closer in this Dallas game, so we'll see if he'll be ready to go against the Chiefs. They've got to rev him up, right? So he's coming off this injury, but you just look at the protection here and I think that's where they want to get better. I mean, did you see his backup? He had four penalties. It was brutal. Brutal to watch that. So it makes sense. Russell's got the experience. I think Russell is going to obviously stick as the starting quarterback, but I just think in Terms of personality, Jackson Dart, from, from what I can tell from even just talking to people, he's like a really good match for Dable. Dable's fiery and crazy and I think Dart's got a little bit of that in him, which is why they liked him coming out. So it's a matter of time. But this is a team that's 02. And you know, it's funny, didn't really feel. Doesn't feel like they are because there has been this feeling of excitement about them knowing that Jackson could be decent. But obviously Dak Prescott just. Man, he showed. He showed up yesterday too. He's so tough in the pocket. And I like forgot about that was when I was watching Dak. I know that sounds weird, but I'm like, oh, yeah, I forgot he can make plays. I forgot he can stand tall in there. But yeah, credit to them. So we'll see what happens with New York when they face the Chiefs, who, I mean, two desperate teams, huh?
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, look, the JJ thing that you just touched on there though is good. I mean, the fourth quarter is really good against Chicago. He was terrible last night against Atlanta. Atlanta trying to, anything to. I thought there was some really good stuff from Ulbricht there who had been with the jets, talking about his stubbornness with the jets and like, hey, my four man rush philosophy. And then it's like, hey, guess what? It doesn't work. And you can't just stick with it the whole time, you know, which is its own thing because you're probably sitting there if you're like on that Jet staff going like, yeah, we were talking about that all year long and like, it doesn't, it doesn't work. But they load up two first rounders to try to get some more edge pressure with an Atlanta team that he, he mentioned like on paper right now with this front four, like we don't necessarily have one of those top five game records, which I think everyone would agree with. So I like that storytelling part of the broadcast last night. And so, you know, look, J.J. and his second start wasn't good. Who knows? It doesn't really mean a ton to me because I don't know what it'll look like by the time the end of the year is when this guy has far more experience. But, but there is something to be said of like, you took a lot of heat from talking about Minnesota maybe, maybe sending some feelers out there of like, even though we're moving on from Darnold because maybe they just didn't want to pay Him. The last impression that Darnold left in Minnesota was not a good one. They've spent the pick on jj but he's been hurt. He hasn't played in a year. And like, every other part of this team seems ready to go. And so I don't know if, you know, Jefferson, I expect him to look frustrated on the sideline yesterday when they can't move the football. I don't know if that's alarming. I don't know if. If it's just a receiver being receiver. But that's okay, because I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt and has, like, enough equity with what he's been able to produce. And for the most part, it's been an awesome teammate, I think. So the JJ part of it is, is something, again, like, you caught some shit for it, because everything that I think you were saying made sense, because it's like, would it make more sense actually, just to go into 25 with another development year for McCarthy? But this is. This is who they have right now, and who knows what it's going to look like?
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. And they've got the right head coach for this. Right. And I think that's probably how the organization looked at it. If Kevin o' Connell can develop and get all these different backup quarterbacks to play at a decent level and bring them back to life, then let's invest in the young rookie, essentially, and coach him up and get him ready and just kind of take the chance that it's not going to be great and keep the offense simple. So, you know, I spent some time in Minnesota this summer, and it was. It reeked of, we need to be patient. And I was there on a day where JJ was fantastic. He was tearing up the Patriots defense, and he has that moxie, too. And we saw it. Seven bad quarters. One really good one. If I told the Minnesota staff, let's say that, you know, J.J. is going to not be great in September, but he's. He may win you a game, too, you know, on Monday Night Football, I bet you they'd go, yeah, I believe that. I believe that it won't be great. And that's not because they don't have confidence in them. They have. They're all in. I mean, if you read the articles and saw every single quote, it is quite obvious the Minnesota Viking staff is hitching their wagon to JJ McCarthy. This is going to work. And they believe in him, and they were propping him up in such a positive way that you're supposed to. When a Quarterback is coming off a significant injury and probably needs to know he's the guy after Sam Darnold. People, people like him on that team. You know this. Yes. Darnold's last appearance was God awful. But remember they won 14 games with him. Remember the locker room when they were jumping around him was awesome. It was one of like the highlights of the year, last year of the team being, you know, just kind of coming together around Sam Darnold. One of, one of the good stories, but I think a lot of this was purpose to just help him. No, he's the guy. Let's get rid of Daniel Jones, let's get rid of Sam Donald. We're all in on you. And it's, it's just got to take time despite the fact that the roster is built. So when there was some reporting in the off season about maybe some conversations that they had with Aaron Rodgers, I didn't disagree with Minnesota. I knew what they were doing. It makes sense. It's like, let's, let's just maybe give him a little bit more time. But they chose to not go in that direction. So, you know, you see Aaron Rodgers now and Aaron looks 41. Right? I think we can agree. But would it be better in Minnesota? I don't know. I don't know. I can tell you my confidence is in o' Connell and what he can do in that whole coaching staff with quarterbacks. So I think JJ is just going to get better. I have no doubt. Like, I think he's the guy. I just think he needs time and it's only September, man.
Kyle Ceruti
Okay, good transition to the last one then. Because, you know, watching what Shanahan does with basically any quarterback going back to like Mullins, you go, Beth, you like Mac Jones steps in and yeah, the Saints are still searching for this win. And I actually feel a little bad for like Spencer Rattler because I think he's out there just competing.
Ryan Rosillo
I know.
Kyle Ceruti
And you're like, you know, let's just get this guy a win here. You know, I don't know if he's going to be a 10 year starter. It looks like he may be around the league for a while. Mac Jones, you know, I thought was pretty overrated in the beginning with New England. There was nothing more maddening. When it's like, you know, when Brady started out, he was kind of just like a system game manager. And it's like, look at, it's like so because Mac was like not super impressive in a passing league as opposed to when Manning or excuse me, Manning when Brady entered the league, like, okay, so he's going to be like Brady. And it gets worse and worse. It seems like Mac in the building isn't super popular, but as a first round pick, you know you're going to get another chance. And sometimes with first round picks, it's like, all right, I'm curious, like, seeing which, which franchise goes after the guy that flames out somewhere else? Because Matt could also go. I had Matt, Patricia calling plays. I had no receivers. Like, are you guys kidding me? So there's a very pro Mac Jones argument to protect him, to defend him. I personally just didn't really think he was that good. So he's at Jacksonville, so they grab immediately. So does that mean you know anything? I don't know. But then when Shanahan gets him, you're like, oh, wait, does Shanahan actually like him? Although at the same time, too, when I was watching Tua, I think it was after the interception. He was sitting there with a coach and they were talking and Zach Wilson is sitting on the bench right next to him. And I was just. I got lost where he is. Yeah, no, well, because I'm wondering, is Zach Wilson going? I would have made that play, or is he going, please don't. Like, just stay healthy so I can just hang out in Miami all year and maybe I can be like this journeyman backup if I never have to play. No one's ever going to see because, I mean, the Zach stuff wasn't very good. So anyway, we've got Mack in San Francisco.
Ryan Rosillo
Okay. Yeah.
Kyle Ceruti
And I am probably so stubborn about the Niners because of Shanahan, because I feel like they'll figure it out. 30 down to again, their most important guy with Purdy. Maybe second most important. Yeah, actually, I'd say second most important guy. Maybe left tackle in Kittle on offense. And, you know, look, they beat the Saints, but some of the Max stuff looked good. So maybe there's just a default that we have to go to that no matter who's playing quarterback for Shanahan, he's just going to look a little bit better than you'd expect him to be somewhere else. But I don't know if it's enough for me to, like, hold out hope that the Niners are going to win a bunch of games if the Purdy absence is extended.
Ryan Rosillo
Yeah. All right, let me rip through a couple things. First, Zach Wilson, he got married this summer to this blonde girl from Jersey who's like a 15 out of 10. So, yeah, he's just sitting There. I just want to go home. They got married in New York. The whole thing. He was in Denver. And when I was at camp, even this past summer, talking to Davis Webb, the quarterback coach, he. We were talking about Zach Wilson. Apparently, like, he was really good in Denver. So who knows exact Wilson's going to be. Maybe he can be a resurrection project somewhere. If he gets an opportunity or if to gets hurt, you know, who knows? It's probably on the table. Right. Spencer Rattler, you mentioned another person that you meet in person. So different than what he will actually kind of makes sense. He's. I met him at the Super Bowl. Great guy, Cool, like electric. Life of the party. Just really liked him. Didn't expect that. Same thing with Mac Jones. No idea he had that kind of personality. Funny as hell, just super dry, serious. But like, you're like, wait, are you joking? And he's like, joking. So all that being said, Mac Jones in San Francisco now. And if you remember when they traded for. They traded up in that 20, 21 draft, that Covid year, they traded up for Mac Jones. Like that. That was. That. That was who they were going for. That. That's not a rumor. That's like. That is fact. It was the COVID year. And remember, everything was over zoom. And it was weird. I'm not making an excuse, but it's really hard, as you know, because you do this all the time with people over screens to really get people and get a feel. And I know from talking to people that Shanahan and Mac really hit it off. Not saying that Kyle was banging the drum like he's the guy. He's the guy. In the end, they obviously chose to go with Trey. Collectively, nothing happens in San Francisco without Kyle Shanahan being part of it. Right. Like, I think there was some scuttlebutt that, oh, it was John Lynch's pick. Of course, John lynch is great, but we know that Kyle Shanahan is the scientist. He's the genius there. So now he has. Now he has that chance. Now this is his opportunity. So from what I was told, like, it was. It was already good, even from the off season and them kind of coming together. Do I think Mac Jones is going to replace Brock? No, obviously they just pay the guy a gazillion dollars. But if. If Brock is going to be out another week, which from what I understand, that's going to be the case, I think this is a pretty good plug and play person for now. It makes sense. And you talk about Kevin o' Connell being one of the best quarterback coaches in football. You can't talk about that without bringing up McVay and, and Kyle Shanahan. They just know how to do it. Which is why when you see other parts of their, we'll call it coaching tree, which is funny to even think about. But like, that's why on the whole Zach Taylor thing right now in Cincinnati, like, go win games, man. Like, I know Jake Browning may not be a superstar, but you've got weapons galore around you just the way San Francisco does, right. With, with Kittle, and we'll see what happens with Juwan Jennings and if he continues to get better. And they could actually probably use a little bit more help in San Francisco. But these are the coaches that are supposed to be the quarterback guys that can get these offenses functioning whether they got Joe Burrow or not. So in San Francisco, I think they're always going to have that advantage. Always. I mean, look what they did with Jimmy Garoppolo. You know, I don't think we appreciate it because Jimmy was talented, but as long as Jimmy could, could, could run what Kyle wanted, he was going to have success. And I just think the same type of quarterbacks that can process really well, which is exactly what Mac Jones is. He's really smart. They're going to have success. So my concern for San Francisco is, is, isn't on the quarterback. My concern for San Francisco is it's just the injury thing. It's just how many, how many times do we do this every year? It's like this one and this one and this one. So. So hopefully the injury bug is done with them after September.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah. And it's also kind of a defensive reset with some of the guys that moved on from. You go back, look at the draft. Five picks the first four rounds. They spent it all on the defensive side of the football.
Ryan Rosillo
Yep.
Kyle Ceruti
So there's a couple younger names there, guys I really liked on Saturdays and, you know, we'll see if they start showing up more throughout the season. That is Diana Rossini. She is terrific. Check out her podcast, Scoop City, and also her updates on the Athletic, including every Saturday morning a 10am drop Eastern Time for all of her insider stuff to get you ready for Sundays. Thank you.
Ryan Rosillo
Thanks, guys.

State Farm with the assist. Coverage options are selected by the customer. Availability and eligibility vary by state. I want to talk college ball. I'm going to start with the AP poll. Not the end of the world, not the biggest deal. I'm not even sure if I love my first few paragraphs here. I'll probably do some sort of college football playoff thing with the top 12 and the first two out. It just doesn't make a ton of sense right now. I'd be giving too much of benefit of the doubt. But again, it's impossible to not do any of that stuff. So I'll probably do it in another week. Yay. And not be passionate about it, though. So I'm just telling you, don't get mad because I'm not going to be passionate about it even if I do it. Maybe I'll wait till week six. Who knows? All right, so the AP today, Ohio State one, Penn State, lsu, Miami four, Georgia five. Oregon dips down to six. Florida State, Texas, Illinois. How about Illinois A and M moves up to 10 with their win at South Bend. So do we care? You know, LSU being number three behind Penn State doesn't sit great with me. You could argue LSU now beating Clemson means. Okay, well, what's Clemson? Well, Georgia Tech's now 18th in the polls. Brett Keether, head coach all he does is beat under, win as an underdog, outright wins the most in college football. And yeah, I mean it would have to be the power four. It would have to be everything. He's got 12 wins as a dog, the record against ranked teams in his conference. I mean, Georgia Tech, when Haynes King is healthy, they're a really good football team and they got after that bad start against Colorado. So maybe people just weren't on it. You know, look, it's the Miami game last year. It's the Georgia thriller at the end of the season. So this isn't new. But then again, you're looking at Clemson who goes from 12th to unranked in the AP after losing two of their first three games and the game against Troy where they look terrible in the first half. So this isn't just an LSU game. It isn't just a Troy weird game delay. I mean, they straight up lost to Georgia Tech. I do think it's going to be interesting too, looking at the mock draft from 25 for 26 where Clemson has three of the top six. Six, I think on ESPN.com three of the top 10 players basically consensus in every single mock draft that I saw. Maybe I got to look at the all 22. I just don't see the edge guys. I see those other linebackers, but the big names, I just don't see them a ton in these games. And then you have Club Nick where, I mean, is it just that he's like, he was too good last year for me to think, oh, yeah, he's just not that good. I mean, we've had players look really good one season at quarterback and then completely fall off. It's not entirely new. It's just just hard to think how important Club Nick was. I know Antonio Williams isn't there, but Wesko's a. He's an awesome receiver, so it's not like he doesn't have something. And I'm just for the teams that consistently are recruiting in the top 10 every single year. I don't usually have a ton of sympathy if you're missing like one of your receivers or one of your offensive linemen, but Georgia Tech just straight up beat him and they just keep beating teams that are favored over them. So if you looked at LSU and said, well, they have to be three now because we don't like Clemson and because we think Florida stinks because they're 1 and 2 after the loss at LSU, were lagway through five picks and all of them were bad. As bad as all of those five were. None were as bad as Nussmeyer's 1 pick, where they're up 2010 in the fourth quarter and he throws it back across his body into the middle of the field into traffic. Brian Kelly near aneurysm, which was predicted. I guess you just have to walk away. You go, yes, I'm aware that was a horrible pick, but that's in the scouting report for Nussmeier and something they've talked about. Win the down, not the game, whatever. LSU wins the game. But I can see voters looking to be like, wow, we don't like Clemson anymore now. We don't even like Florida anymore. If you are doing that, though, it's fair to say, well, how much do you like Texas right now? Because. And this is why I am proud of the podcast at times, because when he goes up against San Jose State in week two and he has four touchdowns in five minutes and you're box scoring it and you're not watching the game, which I'm not expecting everybody to watch that game, there is a lot of like, hey, figured out he was terrible against UTEP he went 10 straight pass attempts, 10 straight incompletions, got booed. I mean, they were up 14, three against UTEP. I mean, UTEP's not terrible. They lost to Utah State week one. Utah State's actually okay, you know, scored some points against A and M, but still it's Texas and their utep. And so the arch story, the question marks around it continue. So, yeah, look, if you're knocking LSU there a bit, you could probably apply the same thing to Ohio State. But ultimately I've already spent too much time on this. Let's talk about Georgia winning in Tennessee because it was 21 7. You're looking at Joey Aguilar and Brazil, who's just a stud and receiver for Tennessee. They're like this guy, he's going to be in the Heisman list to then Georgia, totally shutting them down for a stretch. It goes from 217 to 24, 21. And that 14 play drive to start in the second half by Georgia. If this season is special for the Bulldogs, that will be a drive that should be remembered because it was just this, hey, you know, you guys are flying around, you're throwing a deep shots and your receivers are winning against our corners. We're going to hand it off 13 out of 14 plays and run it right down your throats. And they did that and that felt like this kind of gutting drive still very early. And credit to Tennessee because they get right back into this game. They take the lead, they put together a couple touchdowns, another deep shot to Brazel, they get staley for another one. They're up 35, 30 after a field goal from Georgia. And now all of a sudden, Rocky top sounds good again. You starting to think about the streak is going to end at eight straight losses for Tennessee against Georgia and a place that I love going to games in Knoxville, you're like, hey. And it's not like this hasn't happened. They beat Bama last year. They beat Bama with Saban when it was that absolute shootout a few years ago. So it's not like Knoxville's like hasn't had their moment in a long time. But when it's Georgia, when it's the division opponent and the rivalry and it hasn't gone your way and Georgia has that just physical dominating possession with all of those runs to take the lead, all the momentums on their side, and now you've hit for two big shots, like you're going to survive this. So it was a constant cycling of like, who am I going to be more Impressed with who survives this football game and Gunner Stockton, who I loved Herb street on the call because as I was watching it, I was like, yeah, he's all right. He bails a lot. And then they brought it up. It's like, you know, he's a little quick and it happens with a lot of guys with inexperience. That first read's not there. I want to run it because I know I can at least get some yards here and some positive plays. But he had two plays on one of the possessions where it was like, okay, it feels like he's growing up here a little bit. Facing pressure on a rollout dime and then another play where he just gets wrecked. I can't even believe that he got the ball out. He completes it. It was just a baller type of play. And I even wrote down, I was like, man, he's growing up here a little bit. And then of course after the win, Kirby Smart's like, yeah, he grew up today. So me and Kirby Smart almost the same guy. But that's not even the play because it's 4th and 6, 232 left and he hits London Humphreys on that 28 yard, just drops it right into the bucket. That's being the touchdown. They get the two point conversion, they tie it. And even throughout all of that. So all of these things to feel great about now with Gunner Stockton, you're like, you still might lose the game because Tennessee lines up for the 43 yarder. Everybody's got the phones out and they miss it. And then they lose in overtime. Nine straight for Georgia against Tennessee. So Miami moves up to four because the AP doesn't like Oregon schedule. I guess Oregon's tight ends are mutants. I know it's Northwestern, I know it looks like a high school stands on the side towards the lake. It's still beautiful to look at there. But yeah, I get it because Miami's now beat Notre Dame and then they crushed the group of five darling in USF 49 12. I think USF beating Florida helped Miami get up for this game even more. They held their quarterback, Brown, who's just running all over the place most games at 2 yards rushing, minus 16 on the sacks. So it's really 18 yards on design runs and Beck's completing 78% of his passes. So I think Miami because we'll get to Notre Dame here in a second. Miami dominating USF like that, beating Notre Dame at the beginning again. You could make an argument if you want to start going resumes here like this. Is how much the AP voters love Penn State. And Penn State may be the best team in state the country. So I don't want to make it seem like I'm knocking Penn State at all. But it's, it's credit for Miami's schedule based on preseason ideas and it's, you know, look, again, a lot of this is, it's just hard to kind of change minds sometimes of the voters. All right, let's finish here. A and M at Notre Dame. So it's A&M's first road win against a ranked non conference opponent since 1979. That stuff blows my mind whenever I see it. Last time they beat a ranked opponent on the road in general was Auburn in 2000. Then they just go, wait a minute. So when did they join the SEC again? 2012. Man, that went fast. I can't believe it's already been 13 years. So I can't believe it's 1979 since they did what they did against Notre Dame. So this game's a free for all in the first half, 52 points combined. And if we go box score again here, much like we did with Arch Manning against San Jose, it'll tell you that sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed for A and M threw for 360 yards. Two touchdowns, one pick. There has to be over 200 yards after the catch in that total. And on the game winning touchdown drive, watching Reed drop back into the Ren zone and take forever and I'm assuming like the first thing isn't there, it's crowded, it's really hard. But I've also watched enough football to realize like if you just keep dropping back and hoping it's going to kind of work itself out back there, there's something just not going to be any throwing lanes. It's just unless like somebody falls down or sometimes you see the chemistry between a quarterback and a tight end or receiver or it's like, hey, when everything's sort of breaking down, let's, let's have something we kind of like eye contact and we're going to do something, throw to one side, you know, whatever. Like that kind of chemistry that develops and certainly with Reed not having that many starts and new receiver group and all that kind of stuff, that's probably not going to be there. But the fact that he threw the game winning touchdown on fourth and goal from the 11, the only thing that I could think of is he's due at least because around the defensive holding that reset the downs gave him the first down, there's four incompletions there where it was awful to watch. So with A and M crack in the top 10, you may think this seems a little unfair, but now we're looking at A and M as a playoff team, right? Like, how far can this team go? And like any of the teams that we're talking about, most weeks it's hey, you're good, you won, but is this the guy or all that kind of stuff? And the read part of it, maybe it gets better, but those drop backs just were horrifying. Yet he gets the win. He gets the game winner. So I sound like a jerk today going through some of the finer points. Notre Dame, by the way, still in the AP poll, 24th. I like it. The rest of the schedule. The only ranked team they're going to face, at least that's ranked today, is number 24, USC, South Carolina, Twitter. The conspiracy is over. The conspiracy to keep your program down by dark web powers. It's over because now they're ranked. So if Notre dame ends up 10 and two, are they in the playoff? Some people have eliminated them already. That's fine. Again, it's 10 and two against. Who else is it like we had last year where it's a handful of these teams and we're arguing about them and then the SEC goes down their leg with three different losses for some of the teams that were in the conversation. So it's not just a middle of September, you're 10 and 2, you will be out. Who are we comparing Notre Dame to? Because right now it's two losses to two top 10 teams down to the last place. And I would ask you, this is a 10 and 2 argument for Notre Dame in 2025, the same as Indiana at 11 and 1 in 24. This episode is brought to you by the Wells Fargo Active Cash Credit Card. You want details?
Oregon
Bye.
Kyle Ceruti
I drive a Ferrari 355 Cabriolet.
Oregon
What's up?
Kyle Wargon
I have a ridiculous house in the South Fork. I have every toy you can possibly.
Kyle Ceruti
Imagine, and best of all, kids, I am liquid. So now you know what's possible. Let me tell you what's required. The email address is life advice, rrgmail.com. we've got Kyle, we've got Ceruti, and Wargon is always warming up. Just kidding. Just getting warm. I remember there was this guy Dickinson or something like that. It was a reliever. When the Trent and Thunder and the. Called the bullpen be like, hey, get the dick hard.
Oregon
Wow. Crazy. That sounds like something you'd say like in college or something. That's nuts. Like some. Some saying no one else gets but like the boys in your house or something. That's funny.
Kyle Ceruti
Can you imagine how cool you felt? I know you were on the phone in the. In the dugout bullpen, like, hey, get the dick hard. Just hang up, man. That's great. I love you.
Kyle Wargon
I have like, FOMO that I didn't. That we didn't do something like that.
Kyle Ceruti
That's incredible. I wish. I wish that guy. I'd have him on if I can remember who it was. I go back and look at the roster.
Oregon
It might be worth it, honestly.
Kyle Wargon
Just ask one question like, where.
Kyle Ceruti
What.
Kyle Wargon
What did you.
Oregon
Who's the first guy who said that to you?
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, I don't think he was that good either.
Kyle Wargon
Doesn't matter.
Kyle Ceruti
Imagine if you were the best.
Oregon
Oh, if you were the best.
Kyle Wargon
Just the best donation. If he was good.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah. Yeah, right. There'd be some sort of graphics on the Jumbotron T shirts. I don't know how you could pull that off, because I saw something on. Go ahead, Saruti.
Kyle Wargon
Sorry. That's like everybody with like the Cox, you know, you turn like 15. You just got to get a South Carolina hat. Got to get a Cox hat.
Kyle Ceruti
Kid. Me. You did. I think I traded something for it off a dude. It was used. I was like, all right, now shit's gonna start coming together. Yeah.
Oregon
A lot of the freshman at Potsdam, the high school is the. They were the Potsdam Sandstoners, so. But it was just the Stoners. And so, you know, the. The school, the local School store was just, you know, empty. Always as soon as the freshman came in.
Kyle Ceruti
That's. That's good.
Oregon
Gotta get a stoner's hat.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah. So I went to Goose last night in Vermont. I'll be back in LA shortly. I have never had to do that before. I watched football while all of my friends had their boats tied up in the marina of Lake Champlain. Pre gaming for Goose. The venue was a few hundred yards from my hotel, so I was like, look, I can't. I was like, I'll see you guys when I see you down there. And pregame. They did good group. A lot of height in this group. I guess one ex Swedish hockey player. I guess technically. I don't know. I think he's retired now. His boat's name was Swedish Fish, which I just think is terrific. Swedish fish are just a great candy. Yeah. Anybody has a problem with Swedish fish, especially you get the right texture ones, you're just like, oh, this is such a good time right now.
Oregon
Well, it's almost impossible to eat Swedish fish too fast just because of the texture when it's correct, you know, I.
Kyle Wargon
Will say though, the little ones, not the big ones, right?
Kyle Ceruti
Little ones, yeah. Okay, same page.
Kyle Wargon
The big ones actually do taste different. They're not as good. I don't. In my opinion.
Kyle Ceruti
And if it's just the red, it's like, okay. But I. You can find those ones that have the mixed.
Oregon
Really?
Kyle Ceruti
Kyle, you didn't. You like just red.
Oregon
Classic. Yeah, classic, you know, medium sized red. I think that's my.
Kyle Ceruti
Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong.
Oregon
But Goose is a band, right?
Kyle Ceruti
Goose is a band.
Oregon
I'm just looking them up. Seemed like cool.
Kyle Ceruti
No, it's a. It was a positive thinking seminar that I went to.
Kyle Wargon
We did have the singer on a couple months ago, right?
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, Rick. They were great. I mean, they were great and they went for it. But yeah, I couldn't partake in the pregame stuff. And then I was watching Chiefs Eagles. Sorry. On the boat and that wasn't my normal situation. So made her over to the show. The show was great. I'll say something about. I don't know if it's acid, but I'll say something about the confidence of guy with the potential acid face. I went over to get something to eat during intermission. Beautiful little setup on the Burlington waterfront. Just incredible. You know, they just never felt like they optimized the waterfront potential when I lived here. It seems like they're doing more and more stuff they could likely do more. Church street is a Different topic as a resident that was here a long time and coming back to visit every single year. Church street is in decline, and it's very frustrating, but the waterfront seems on the ascent, so I'll leave it at that. But I went to go get some food, and a dude looked at me with a face I just have never, ever seen before. And so maybe it's gummies, because it feels like literally everybody's on gummies now.
Oregon
But it wasn't a terrified look. You're saying it's.
Kyle Ceruti
No. He looked at me like I was. It was this, like, knowing look. And he was so happy, and he just. And again, I've never. I don't have any experience with that, and I don't know why I'm saying acid face. And maybe I'm being unfair, but it was different. It wasn't just a. It was just a look of, like, determination, happiness, understanding. All kind of, like, combined one. Yeah. Wonderment. Yeah, that's great, Kyle. And he looked at me like I felt like I had a bear suit on. I was like, did I wear my bear suit today? No, just. I just got a shacket on, hat, not a big deal. And he looked at me like he knew everything about me and we've never met. Yeah. Shout out. Shout out to that guy again. Goose was great, but I had to leave to then walk back up to the hotel, watch the Chiefs Eagle stuff that I needed for the show today. Prep up a little college football, and then watch Michael Pennix take over.
Kyle Wargon
You should have just stayed at Goose. Tough. Watch those solo. Man, those solo games when they're bad, it's just like, what am I doing? Why am I watching this?
Kyle Ceruti
Game fair.
Oregon
I was about to ask you. I was like, isn't it like, something like, if you goose somebody? Goose somebody. Isn't that a thing? And I was like, let me just. Urban dictionary at first, and I'm like. I didn't want to bring it up, but once I read it, I just. Just couldn't stop laughing. So if anybody was wondering why I was laughing, if Waron didn't cut it out, it's like, isn't it like a thing where you goose somebody? I was like, oh, wait, never mind.
Kyle Ceruti
I just looked it up. Yeah. What did Rosilla do? He flew cross country to go just punch dudes and random strangers in the ass. He's wicked into it.
Oregon
Like, there was something in the back of my head. I'm like, what is that? And I just like, let me look it up before I ask about air.
Kyle Ceruti
Get the dicks hard.
Oregon
You know, I don't know, just the way that it's, like, said on. On Google. It's just a funny word. All right.
Kyle Wargon
I had never heard that.
Oregon
Sorry.
Kyle Wargon
Wow.
Kyle Ceruti
Okay. You've never heard that term before.
Oregon
But I couldn't, like, put my finger on it. No pun intended. Oh, I think now that I got.
Kyle Ceruti
That out, it's a festival every year here in Vermont, and you can't get in trouble producing strangers. You guys have never. I got you a shirt, Kyle.
Oregon
Oh, all right. I'm gonna be okay.
Kyle Wargon
I got Goose and Burlington.
Kyle Ceruti
No, I got Kyler. Because I'm here for the Goosen. Oh, all right.
Oregon
Okay.
Kyle Ceruti
Dudes are losing it early.
Oregon
Ridiculous wording.
Kyle Wargon
It really is.
Oregon
You're just looking it up.
Kyle Ceruti
Oh. Oh, that's funny. We were standing by this, like, security barrier because, like, eventually, because a few of my friends own all these places, and I'm like, we're not in the vip. Like, what the wrong with you guys? What happened to you?
Oregon
Since I've left boats guys, but not VIP guys.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, right.
Oregon
And then it's not adding up.
Kyle Ceruti
As we were standing in some barrier because somebody was like, don't worry. Working on it. Working on it. A guy went by, did, like, a cup check to, like, six of us in a row, and I almost threw a punch. Who did?
Oregon
One of your buddies, you're saying?
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, it was an adjacent buddy, so I wasn't really psyched with him touching my dick at a concert, to be honest with you. It was my favorite part of the show. And I was so mad, like, for five or six seconds, like, cocked it and ready to plant my feet.
Oregon
Yeah. When you think about how long it's been, you know what I mean? Every year you get away from being a guy who has to worry about that. It really more. It feels like assault, you know?
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah.
Oregon
I think I'd be mad now. And you've got, like, you know, you certainly got a few years on me. And if somebody did, one of my buddies did that to me, I was like, no, no, no. I would just. I think I have to have a talk with everyone. Like, we're not going back. We're not going back. We all survive.
Kyle Ceruti
I don't want to do this. I don't want to. I don't want to be in a defensive stance. I don't want to do this.
Oregon
I don't want you guys. I'm not playing.
Kyle Ceruti
I want to do it to you now to get even. Right?
Oregon
And now it's just going to you know, revving up the old engine. No, thanks, man.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, that. That's a great point, Kyle. Like, certain age you have to be like, hey, we need to have a meeting because we're not going back to this.
Kyle Wargon
We've graduated and we are not going back.
Kyle Ceruti
Right.
Oregon
You got that one.
Kyle Ceruti
That's it? That's it. All right.
Kyle Wargon
No advice.
Kyle Ceruti
What do we got here? Somebody sent me. Yeah. Haven't done advice yet. It's probably my fault. I'm so sorry. No, somebody sent it a picture of the Fenway peanut guy saying, hey, he's still there. Crushing it. I've seen this guy that the picture is sent up. This guy is also really good.
Oregon
He's a different guy.
Kyle Wargon
Imitator, different guy.
Kyle Ceruti
This guy's awesome. The picture that has been sent to me, I appreciate this guy's one of the good ones, but he's not the guy I was talking about. And I'll also just say thank you to everybody that hit me up on the open because everyone.
Kyle Wargon
Yeah, you were feeling that it was good.
Kyle Ceruti
Seem to really like it. Okay. Oh, somebody had an interaction with me at Goose last night. Do we do this one real quick? Yeah. I mean, took my daughter to see Goose for the second time in about as many years in Burlington. Trying to get as many memories in before. She wants nothing to do with me. I like that. How old? Eight year old daughter. I think that's cool. There were some people strollers there. I think if you have to bring your kid in a stroller to a concert. Yeah.
Oregon
If you need to have a vessel, maybe it's the wrong. Yeah, wrong move.
Kyle Ceruti
But I think eight's cool. One of the drawbacks is taking an eight year old to a concert. There'll be multiple trips to the bathroom. Most likely won't make it to the end. While making the way to the bathroom right before the first set break or walking by. And who do I bump into? But Mr. Life Advice, Ryan Rossillo said a quick hello and off we went. Here are my questions. Are these interactions ever not awkward? I tried my best, but left wondering if RR could have been happier to see me walk away. No. 2 Did I manage? Go ahead, Siri.
Kyle Wargon
No, I'll just tackle the beginning. Is you are an awkward greeter. I've said this multiple times. It could be in person, it could be on a zoom. I feel. I feel obligated a lot of the time when somebody comes in on the zoom to say something first because you just don't see say anything. And I think Kyle knows what I'M talking about probably worgon too. And it's not, I don't think you're, I don't think you're being a dick. It's just kind of you. So I, I, I. And I don't think you don't appreciate people coming up to you. I just think that's kind of your personality.
Kyle Ceruti
Like you're a little, you're a little.
Kyle Wargon
Unfriendly, but not like you're not unfriendly, but you can be unfriendly.
Kyle Ceruti
Fair. All fair.
Oregon
Friday feedback on Monday.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, sorry. So number two, I did manage to ask when we were going to see a live show, to which Rosilla replied along the lines of quote, I'd never sell out. Yeah, that's exactly what I said. I'd say that, yeah, I'd say that 5,000, 5,000 person outdoor event in the Burlington waterfront is. Why can I not speak right now? Let's try that sentence again. I'd say a 5,000 person outdoor event at the Burlington waterfront is actually 50 50. But even not, nectar is no longer an option. Nectar's did close. There are plenty of places with all packing to see a live show. That was a great interaction. You were super friendly, nice, and you actually never stopped, kept going throughout all of it. And I was standing with like six buddies, so it was fine. And they were all having a little bit more fun than I was. Okay, how about an email? All right. Mother in law wants to go by Nona. What do you call your grandmother's sorority?
Kyle Wargon
They were just grandma, Grandpa, Grandma, Nice Grandma. There wasn't, there was a discussion about my mom, I think, wanting to be called something and we kind of just nipped that in the bud right away.
Oregon
Oh, dude, you gotta let her.
Kyle Ceruti
This one's for you.
Oregon
You gotta let her.
Kyle Wargon
Dude, I'll hear the email first.
Oregon
But yeah, well, my, my brother wanted, when he was, he's like nine years younger than me and everyone was like, you know, my one grandma wanted to be called nanny. And I was like, push. I was like trying to teach him. My younger brother, I'm like, no, this is grandma. She's been grandma. Like, you're the new kid. You don't get to just make a new one. And it turns out I learned as I'm older my grandma wanted to be called nanny. And I was like, oh man, I just stood in the way of this thing. And now the kid's like, you know, he's an adult now too. So I robbed her of that. I think you got to Let the, the moms pick.
Kyle Ceruti
But anyway, history's being written right on a Roy. I remember when. So I was the third oldest child on my mother's grandmother's side. So the grandchildren. I was the third oldest and the oldest because the grandmother didn't want to be called grandma. She was like, I don't want to be called grandma. And so the oldest grandchild was like, well, you should do Mimi. She was like, great. Mimi. Not realizing that that cousins, the grandchild, the oldest other's grandmother was also. She got it from the other one. So this went on.
Oregon
Oh, it's like accepted into.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, it went on for years because she was like, well, if I'd known that the grandmother on that side was named Mimi, I would never ever have accepted this at the time.
Oregon
Stepped in on toes.
Kyle Ceruti
Fucking too late. You get awkward. Yeah, that's too late. She didn't have all the data. So my wife and I are expecting our first child in a few days. My mother in law wants to go by Nona. No one or her family's ever gone by this. I'm pretty sure she just wants people to think she's Italian. My wife is weird, but doesn't want to say anything because she's more focused on birthing the baby. Is there anything or any way I can push for her to just go by Grandma or should I let it be some additional insight? My grandma was born in Italy and owned an Italian restaurant with her husband and still went by Grandma. My mom is 100% Italian, still goes by Grandma. Assuming she should let this go, is there any window to stop my mother in law by going by Nona?
Oregon
I think if she's not Italian, you've got a leg to stand on. Otherwise I think you just have a Nona. I think that's what it is. If she's like Polish or something. That's insane.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah. Asian.
Kyle Wargon
I mean, I guess each, each. I feel like country has their own right. So I don't know, there could be whatever. But if they are Italian, I mean you could just call them grandma. Like just tell the kids to call them. You could just ignore the request and.
Kyle Ceruti
Just go that route. Ignore it.
Kyle Wargon
I just.
Kyle Ceruti
Can you do that?
Kyle Wargon
I think you can. Yeah. Just call, hey, we're going to grandma's house. And then your kids just start calling her grandma.
Kyle Ceruti
You know, what if she corrects him? Are you going to fight that fight?
Kyle Wargon
No, you don't. But you could just. You just don't have to entertain it, I think.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, well, you're kind of Entered. You're like, this is pretty. This is about a passive aggressive move as you can make.
Kyle Wargon
Yeah, well, if you don't want to do it.
Oregon
So he's not like, I want to be called Bo. Like, this is. This is like an accepted. This is like an acceptable name. Yeah, maybe. Maybe you have like a pitch meeting with her. Maybe you have a pitch meeting and you. Clearly, she doesn't just want to be grandma. And sometimes, I don't know, maybe it's like, you know, some. Maybe some people when they get older, they're like, I don't want to be a grandma. I want to be a Nona or I want to be a Gigi or whatever. Like what? Maybe you can have a pitch meeting with her and you put your heads together.
Kyle Wargon
So I guess I don't know the origin story of these. And I always thought it was like some natural thing where like the kid just said Nona or the kid said Mimi or the. You know what I mean? And like, it was like an organic thing. It's like, it's kind of like giving yourself a nickname. Right? Like, remember when Dwayne Wade gave himself the nickname? What was it? Wow. And everyone was like, that's weird. Don't do that. I kind of feel like it's the same. It's like, hey, call me. I mean, I guess.
Oregon
I don't know, maybe it's kind of earned, though. It's not like you just, hey, I'm in. I'm in college now and guess what? Everyone's calling me like, it's kind of earned. It's like the third generation of, you know, whatever. You end up living through these grandkids, it seems like. So. Yeah, I think I, you know, I think you might come up with something. You both like. I don't know why he's so against Nona. Unless he's like, someone's like, it's always grandma. It's gonna be Grandma this person and grandma that.
Kyle Ceruti
That.
Oregon
Like, I don't know. I think. I think you should let her have a say. But if you guys are both against Nona, I'd say just have a little pitch meeting with her and figure out what. What you can all live with.
Kyle Ceruti
You guys are underestimating the steely resolve of older people.
Oregon
Dude. That's why I would just say you. Fine. You got a Nona. But it seems like he's writing an email, so he really doesn't want that to come to pass.
Kyle Ceruti
It's also not his mom. Right?
Oregon
Right.
Kyle Ceruti
It's a mother in law.
Oregon
Right.
Kyle Ceruti
Imagine the grandmother's holding her and she's like, I'm your Nona. You know, just like in the room. We've. We've actually discussed this.
Kyle Wargon
Grandma not going to work. No can do.
Kyle Ceruti
It's got to be your wife's call.
Oregon
Totally.
Kyle Ceruti
I would stay out of it. Fair that. It would be pretty funny if the kids were of crayon age and they did like dear grandma stuff and you're like, hey, put this on the fridge. See how she reacts. She may have to give in. I've got an email here that I haven't read and it says something about a grandfather being addicted to hookers. So we're going to go ahead and.
Oregon
We'Re going to preview that one, maybe star that one. But we could do it for Wednesday.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, let's star it.
Oregon
Put it on the important tab.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah.
Oregon
Circle back.
Kyle Ceruti
Forward this. Back to the primo. That will do that for the life advice special. What if we had an older person on? They just come on and be like, hey, we've got this Nona one. We've got this hooker one for you. Like, you know, we're all.
Oregon
I'm not against.
Kyle Ceruti
Not the same age. But this is where maybe we're a little limited in our scope here and we just have an older guy who.
Oregon
Comes wild card into life advice. I love it.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, he's like 75 and he just every. All of his advice is like, just leave him be. I don't care. You shouldn't either. Made it to three quarters of a century. Let him cook. All right. Can I spray down my neighbor's wasp nests? Do we have to read the email? I almost feel like this is a yes. 28 years old, 5 10, 1, 85. No impressive gym stats. Career high bench of 275, 1 rep, but had surgery and a torn labrum a year and a half ago. And that has significantly decreased my weightlifting. I hate hearing that, buddy. NBA comp. P.J. tucker without the elite defense, camp in the corner on offense and occasionally heat up for three or play small ball center against the Lakers in the playoffs. My wife and I bought a house in Dallas in a suburb. Don't care if you use the city. Okay. A couple weeks ago, started to experience the burdens of home ownership. Here's my dilemma. I had several small wasp nests around my house that I was easily able to spray down. But my next door neighbor has two large nests on the side of their house. Even though all of my nests have been eradicated, I'm still noticing a large Presence of wasps. How would you guys engage this? I briefly considered just spraying the neighbor's nest down, but I feel like that crosses a line. The easiest solution would be to ask my neighbor if I can spray down their nest but don't want to come across as passive aggressive. Some information that may be helpful. We have been in the neighborhood for approximately two weeks. I have not seen the neighbor come and go. I have no idea their age, gender, etc. At least you're not assuming anything then. I assume it is either a single person or an older person. Given the lack of activity, I'm quite confident there are no kids present. I can see that the neighbor's backyard contains a large garden and I heard someone working in it yesterday. Okay, so if there's a garden there, that's a good sign because it means that this someone who didn't just move in for the functionality of sleeping and watching tv garden tells you a lot about this person. I think that's a. A really positive sign. You got a garden. So, Rudy.
Kyle Wargon
No neighbor does though.
Kyle Ceruti
There you go. Tomatoes for days. Yeah. The lawn side of the house with the wasp nest has been moaned re mowed recently. Okay. Part of me wants to wait for more information before I make a move, but I'm also growing tired of the wasps. How would the tribunal. But please weigh in if you want to Oregon approach this. Thanks for the laughs. All right, so we've got two wasp nests here. He's sending a picture. Shades drawn.
Oregon
Gotta keep the cooling bill down. Maybe.
Kyle Ceruti
I don't know. Yeah, good call, Kyle. Texas, Dallas suburb.
Oregon
This seems like a great way to meet your neighbor, no? Doesn't it?
Kyle Wargon
What if something goes wrong, though?
Oregon
What do you mean? What could go wrong?
Kyle Wargon
I've never sprayed a wasp nest down. Like, I don't know what the danger of that is, you know, Google search. Well, what is it? You just spray it. It looks like it's like soapy water and just suffocates them. But what if you, like, miss and they agitate them and I'll be getting like a swarm of wasps in this person's yard. You got to be pretty confident.
Kyle Ceruti
Gasoline trick.
Kyle Wargon
The Gastric.
Oregon
Saw that. Saw that?
Kyle Wargon
Pop it right up there.
Oregon
The fumes just makes me wish I.
Kyle Ceruti
Had a wasp nest.
Oregon
I don't know. I just don't see why this isn't a great, you know, opportunity to, to introduce yourself to your neighbors, be like, hey, I noticed. I was just not, you know, I would just, you know, absolutely destroyed these wasps nests. I'm pretty good at this, I noticed you have two. Do you want me to just do that? Then you're. Then you're saying, hey, I'm new to the neighborhood, whatever. Because the only way I could see there's a few ways I could see it going wrong is like, I think back to, like, True Detective is like, I mow my lawn. Don't you ever mow my lawn? I know. That was like more of a girl thing. And, you know, Woody Harrison's character had like a guilty conscience at that time. But, like, it could just be like, I take care of the stuff on my lawn, so don't worry about it. Or it could be like, you know, I'm thinking about my wife. She'd be like, there must be a more humane way to move these wasps. When in reality I would just go and be like, oh, yeah, they left. I don't know what happened. Just lie to her about, you know, the ugly truth of the situation. So I could just. I think it's just better to talk about it with someone, you know, somebody you don't even know. This is like, you know, who you're living next to now as well. And you're getting off to what you assume is a nice footage by saying, do you want me to help you out with this? I'm already doing it anyway.
Kyle Ceruti
Or note, you know, if it's some face to face thing that you're worried about there or being nicknamed wasp guy in the neighborhood. Nice loafers. Yeah.
Kyle Wargon
The exterminator.
Kyle Ceruti
I think the garden tells you everything. Because if there was no if, you told me, like, rusted patio furniture, frame, you know, tarps. Yeah, yeah. A lot of the lawn has major issues. Blue tarp in it everywhere. Outboard engine and Evinrude, 10 horsepower. Just kind of off to the side.
Oregon
There's a bunch of wood that I can tell has been there for years. I don't know. I don't think they have a fire pit.
Kyle Ceruti
It's sorting table, bunch of knickknacks.
Kyle Wargon
Like an antique show in the backyard.
Kyle Ceruti
Bird fountain with no water in it for years. Yeah, I. I think if that were the decor, then it'd be totally wrong to just go over there because you have no idea. Just spraying down the nests, going over there, just in general, without anything other than an introduction.
Kyle Wargon
Yeah.
Kyle Ceruti
Who knows, you know? Careful. Yeah, yeah. The whole thing. I think the garden is a huge positive. The lawn being fresh is a huge positive. And maybe with the way it's lined up and with their shades down from the. From the pictures that we have. Maybe they don't even know. Maybe it's a non wasp area, their garden. So I, I think going over there and just introducing yourself or if you just felt like a little shy about it, even you say, hey, move next door. Here's my name, here's my number. There's two's wasp. And that's. I took down a couple over here. Who, who would ever, in the battle of neighbors be like, hey, my lot, my wasps. Nobody would ever do that. So I think you, I think you're a good spot here. Yeah. Oregon. Anything.
Kyle Wargon
I don't have much.
Kyle Ceruti
I know you're high on the garden. What if they're using the wasps as like a natural predator deterrent for the, for the garden?
Ryan Rosillo
They can keep pests away.
Kyle Ceruti
Did you research that? I did.
Oregon
Seem pretty confident.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah. Yep. That wasn't wasp.
Oregon
Isn't there like a better, Isn't there a better one than wasps, though? Wasps are like angry man.
Kyle Ceruti
They're nasty. Yeah. Yeah. Like, hey, look, my peppers need to come in. Sorry about your kids.
Oregon
Might not want to have the slip and slide out anymore.
Kyle Ceruti
Yeah, cilantro just doesn't grow the same. All right, that'll do it for the show today. Thanks to Ceruti. Thanks to. To Kyle, thanks to Oregon. Big thanks, Jonathan Fras. Today, the Ryan Priscilla Podcast is also a video podcast on the Spotify app. Check us out on YouTube and subscribe to the page Ryan Marilla Podcast Ringer Spotify.
Kyle Wargon
They were going to name me Michael Jordan. My dad was like, I don't think.
Ryan Rosillo
He can live up to it.
Kyle Ceruti
So they named me Michael Jared. Foreign must be 21 and older and present in select states for Kansas in affiliation with Kansas Star Casino or 18 plus and present in D.C. kentucky or Wyoming.
