It was awesome. And it was also a little reminder. You get a little bit older but there's one guest that isn't welcome on game day and that's heartburn. Because I remember thinking it was made up. I was like who gets it? What is it? Do you get dumped and you get it? Nope, you just start to get it, man. I don't know what to tell you. We don't do these all the time, I'll tell you but we're excited to do it. So let's get into it. We've got Kyle, we've got Saruti. How is everybody?
Kyle
Well this is pre taped but by the time you are listening to this I will be home alone for a couple of days and I'm just trying to figure out how I'm gonna spend em erring on the side of responsibility but I don't know. It'd be a nice test case.
Saruti
That's funny because my I have a buddy who is kind of similar situation wife is out of town for a few weeks and he's like you know what's the what video game should I play? And we were talking like, do you pick up civ again? You know, do you just get really into the NCAA 25 and just like, create school? So I don't know. Do you still. Do you still have a PlayStation? Xbox? What's your deal?
Kyle
I got both, buddy. I got the PlayStation in the living room and the Xbox in my little office here. Yeah. And she's really concerned about if I'm going to give proper care to the rabbits. And I'm like, is there something I am missing here? I think it's just food. I wonder about it. Just like, make sure you cringle the bag before you go in there. So they get excited for their treats. I'm like, all right, I can remember that. But she's. She's definitely concerned that they won't be receiving premium level care like they used to. But I think I can pull it off.
Saruti
They'll survive.
Ryan Marcillo
Is there a rabbit place you could drop them off without her knowing?
Kyle
Dude, when that fire thing happened, we had to evacuate you. You. I learned just how hard it is to get five rabbits anywhere.
Saruti
She.
Kyle
She adopted the pillowcase method where she just kind of the last two because it was just. It was taking a while and, you know, the fight, the hill was on fire, so she. She just. She figured out how to get them up in a. In a pillowcase. But that's not something I'm interested in. So they'll stay right with me.
Saruti
All five rabbits in a pillowcase?
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah.
Kyle
No, no. Well, one at a time. We had. We had a. Like a big, like, dog cage that they went in for transport. But you know, to get in the. Get them, you got to kind of do it one by one. Anyway, that's when I realized our definition of emergency evacuation was a little different from her in mind.
Saruti
But, well, in her defense, like, you know, living things I feel like are.
Kyle
Hey, I hear you.
Saruti
Important. Yeah, you know, I hear you.
Kyle
I hear it. I hear it at the same time. If I was to give a little feedback of my own.
Ryan Marcillo
No, I'm just kidding.
Kyle
Um, anyway, we'll see what.
Saruti
See how this weekend, Kyle's like, can we take three of the rabbits? That's probably it. That feels like a good number.
Ryan Marcillo
Rank the rabbits. Quick. Rank.
Kyle
I joke about that. It makes her so mad, but it's something I still feel fine joking about with her. Like, stop.
Ryan Marcillo
You have my permission. Yeah, I hope you never stop joking about it there. Okay. Start with some sortie ones. These are different than life advice. They're Kind of just feedback about the show. Ser. The tone there is like, oh, I.
Saruti
I always just assume somebody's got some problem. So let's, let's, let's hear it.
Ryan Marcillo
Ceruti versus Kane. Fellas couldn't help but notice that Steve was gone when Will came on the show. Care to comment? I'm sure that I'm not the only listener that noticed that after Steve's comments about Will on the pod a few months ago. Heaven forbid if you have a guest that supports a president with a 70% approval rating.
Saruti
Brother, I'm confused.
Ryan Marcillo
I don't want to talk about a miss.
Saruti
Yeah. What Will is like. I'm really not afraid. I mean, I know there was a lot of feedback and whatever all over the place about the Will Kane thing. Although I do think it is really funny we were talking about this. Just the difference between different social media platforms and whether or not they actually enjoyed him or not. Like YouTube was. They loved it. It was great. Pretty much everywhere else. Was not a huge fan, but Will's my guy. Dude. I love Will. I don't agree with him politically. I think that's okay. We did a show together years ago, the Will Kane show, which was very successful at ESPN Radio. When everything else is kind of going down the drain. This is after Ryan left. I love the guy who's at my wedding. I talk to him a lot still about life. I always say that Will is probably in my top five people just to have a beer with and talk about life. He's probably one, to be honest with you, because I don't really mind the disagreement. He's just. I'm so. I'm sorry. I talk to you way more, Ryan. But like, Will is. I think you would agree with me, he's just like a good hang. I mean, you wax politically about him. When we had him on, I think people took some. So, you know, people were a little annoyed about that. I don't know. I get it. You don't like things. The country's kind of in a disaster area right now. I get why people are all on edge. I like the guy. He's a good dude. And so, yeah, you couldn't be more off about this. I just didn't. What was I going to say? I wasn't going to like, butt in the interview, like, hey, dude. Hey, Will. Love you. Just glad to see you're doing your thing.
Kyle
Yeah, you should have canceled your Mexico trip or wherever you were to. To make sure that you were there. Is that.
Saruti
Is that what, you know, I Was. This was after. I think I was there.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah, you were back. You were actually here. I mean, has anybody ever listened to us to a fucking interview on the show before? How often am I in it being like, hey, Serutti, you want to get in on this?
Saruti
Yeah. Hey, leg, real quick.
Ryan Marcillo
The magic.
Saruti
Although I will do that sometimes I do the magic stuff off the air.
Kyle
Okay.
Saruti
I don't do that actually on the pod. I should be like, hey, what are we hearing?
Ryan Marcillo
But we had a guy in Boston who was the producer, and we were all obsessed with our fantasy baseball game. You know, teams back then. Like, we're really, like, annoyingly obsessed about it. I was so weird about it. And then he would. We'd get Buster only on the show, and he would keep him on hold, like, asking him about different transactions that would happen. And we, the host, we get so fucking mad, and we would just be like, stop holding up the guest and getting in the way of the actual time we have with the guy in the air. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, Will, it has. I mean, it just has nothing to do with. It has nothing to do with it. I mean, to me, this is an email from somebody that's so politically charged that they see everything through that lens. And then they're so into Will and his politics that somehow Ceruti, not talking in an interview, which he never does anyway, is seen as Ceruti. Unless the email is just completely messing with us.
Saruti
But I feel like everybody's throw something, so maybe they are messing with us, But I feel like everyone is off the scent of where any of us align. I mean, I'm not going to get into it politically, but, like, there.
Kyle
This is a great idea.
Saruti
I'll get like, you're.
Ryan Marcillo
I don't know.
Saruti
I thought about doing it.
Ryan Marcillo
I don't know, I thought about just going, hey, I'm gonna do 15 minutes on this right now. But it's actually more fun. It's become more fun. And look, there's some things I agree with Will on, and there's other things I don't agree with them on.
Saruti
Yep.
Ryan Marcillo
I know it's shocking, but I thought he was. People in life, you know, talking about the Mavs. Yeah, talking about the Mavs. Okay, another Ceruti one. Can Ceruti get a word in, please? Longtime listener, first time emailer, Love the show. However, the amount of times Rosillo interrupts Ceruti during life advice is becoming unbearable. Please let him finish a thought or just don't have him on the segment. At all.
Saruti
Oh, okay. Yikes. I haven't really noticed that a ton. Sometimes I think I interrupt Kyle too much, and I. I've. I don't know. I don't. I'm like, man, I stop. I think we could kind of all do it, but I haven't noticed. I don't know, Kyle. You're kind of the third party here. Does Ryan interrupt me a lot?
Kyle
I haven't noticed. Sorry. Just usually thinking about what kind of story I could tell anyway, so I'm not. I don't really know what you guys say half the time.
Ryan Marcillo
Sorority has the toughest. Suri has the toughest role. On life advice, I just go, you know, and then I wrap a bow back up. I talk. I would say, generally, I would say every life advice I do, I'm like, you could have been shorter on that one, but, you know, again, who gives a shit? Kyle just comes in with the perspective. And then Cerutty's. Ceruti has this spot where he usually just always goes third and so how much is left? So then Cerutty has to kind of figure out what can I say that's actually a little different. Can I actually Devil. Devil's advocate this a little bit? So Ceruti easily has the hardest of. The hardest role of the three of us on life advice.
Kyle
Maybe we rotate it like a volleyball, like in gym class.
Saruti
Well, no, I don't. No. Because there are times when I think you and Ryan, you're. You're pretty good about this. Like, you could see. I think we had one on Monday where I. What was it about? I forget. Maybe it was the tanning thing. I don't even remember, but I actually had a lot to say about something, and I'll. And you can usually tell that, like, I want to go and I'll go first, but it is kind of a blessing and a curse to go last. Because sometimes it's like, hey, here's the one thing you didn't think about. Or, yeah, like, you guys said all the things that I was going to say. Now I basically just have to kind of repeat myself. But no, I think. I think we do. If I have. If I really am hot on something, I feel like I'll kind of jump and say, hey, let me go first here really quick. And you guys always let me do that. So I don't. I don't know. I don't. The interruption thing, I don't know.
Kyle
I will say, though, your. Your. Your thought was right. Ryan, as a guy who used to produce this podcast you know, like on the pro tool side, you can see the waveforms. And yeah, you're right. Yours is way longer than mine and Steve's put together on life advice.
Ryan Marcillo
Oh, I know, I know. And there's a lot of times that's.
Kyle
How it should be. Hey, what's on the building, dude?
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah, but I don't. I think there's times I can be just shorter with it, but sometimes you just sit there and you're like, okay, am I thinking of every possible angle? I probably would say life advice feedback that we get. It's not even Friday feedback, but specific to a certain way we answer. And every now and then there's some helpful stuff, but there's a lot of, I can't believe you guys didn't do this part of it. It's like, what, after you had, like, a few days to think about it? You know, like we're doing these things on the fly. I think I can get a little interrupty, you know, But I. I just try to notice when I'm doing it, and then if the email is really long, maybe I'll have Seruti or Kyle go first. Usually it's going to be Kyle going first because I just feel like from the audio sense of, like, you've already talked this long and then you're just going to answer for as long as you do. I would say in general, I probably could just be shorter about a lot of things that I do, but I don't know. I talk for a living, so this.
Saruti
Isn'T a criticism, just something I've noticed. There are times when you will mix up who says. Who makes a point. You'll be like, oh, yeah, Serutti said this and it was actually Kyle who said it. Like, oh, good point by Kyle. And it's actually me. And there are there. I have noticed you kind of like mixing up who to give credit for. But hey, man, there's a lot of people talking. It's okay. I don't take offense to it.
Ryan Marcillo
Okay. I'll try to be better at that. Wow. You know, we could have done that in a show meeting. Maybe off the air.
Saruti
No, my bad.
Ryan Marcillo
No, no, totally kidding. Wow. You guys are dicks. Listening to the show from January 8th. And I'm really surprised at the level of snark and assholishness you guys threw at Oregon about running the Disney half marathon. Guy signed up to do something hard that a ton of people can't do without a guarantee of actually succeeding. He's clearly into Disney based on his tattoo. Combine those two things. I didn't understand how the rest of the show laid into him like you did. If you've never A, run a half marathon, B, go to Disney by choice, or C, wake up at 5am to go do something hard. If you could avoid it, that's fine. But you made it seem like Oregon is the asshole, and that's not cool. Life Advice is one of my favorite segments of any podcast. Usually you're right on the mark for the kinds of things people should do. Seems like you should take your own advice about being supportive to your friends and co workers. Stuff they're invested in. Even if you think it's stupid, you don't have to celebrate it, but you shouldn't shit on it. Dave.
Kyle
Damn, I thought we were just really excited to get a new fact about Mike.
Saruti
I agree.
Kyle
I think a lot of the laughing and Are you serious? Was just like, didn't know you had a bucket for that. Like, I. I didn't know you could. You had that in your game, dude. I think that's really what it was more than anything. And maybe it came off as snarky, but I don't know. I don't think we were laughing at him. I think we were more laughing in amazement as another little kernel that we just found. Like a little nugget of gold while we're panning the Oregon River.
Saruti
Yeah, I guess I can see why there. There is kind of a perfect, stupid. Sorry.
Ryan Marcillo
I liked it. I don't know why, but I really liked it.
Saruti
Like, Oregon Trail would have worked better there, but that's okay. I get why you would think this, and maybe it did come off that weird. But I'm with Kyle. Like, I think we're just genuinely. It's like we're giddy to find out new war gone back because the guy's like Fort Knox.
Kyle
Like you have to specifically ask him something and then he actually has something that he's already doing that totally lines up with this. But because we didn't ask him to turn his camera and mic on, we just didn't know. And so I think it's just the asking you sour receiveness of it all where it's like, oh fuck, he had something for this too. Look, there's a Simba tattoo. Holy shit. That's huge. It's like we had no idea. Wicked Already saw it going back. Like it's just fuck it lines up perfectly.
Ryan Marcillo
He hits us with repeated shots and we're just so freaked out by it. Like I'm learning about him the same way the audience is. I thought he worked at espn. He never did. I didn't know anything about him. I thought I kind of knew him as like a side guy at espn. And then he was like, I've never worked there. I went, oh, okay, so I guess I don't know you at all. And so every time something is uncovered, we're so floored. At least I know that I am. Like, we're experiencing it at the same time. The audience is. Yeah. For the record, I think having a Simba tattoo and running a half marathon at Disney is not the coolest thing. I laughed. I. But the thing is, is Worgon came on and said one of the first things he ever said to us. It was unbelievable. He goes, I'm not cool. I've never been cool in my entire life. And he just said it. And then it was like, now we're just off and running and actually he's the winner in all of it because he's not holding himself some cool guy standard that, you know, a lot of us have spent a life pursuing. So there's just this honesty with him that is incredible. But if it came off as, I think you're a loser for doing this. I mean, I'm very consistent on the if you're going to do something physical, like, good for you. But I just. The whole part of it with him where it's the two hour lounge visits for the espresso Martini, so he gets to the airport like five hours early.
Kyle
Really just finding value and cross country travel.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah, we keep going back to that. Well. And then it's like, yeah, but I'm actually going to Disney for the half marathon and it's going to rain and it starts at 5am a.m. and I get sick and I have a massive manhole cover blue Simba tattoo on my shoulder. Like, I was just overwhelmed. So if I came off as like not being supportive, I would say I regret that because I'm always going to be supportive of somebody that's going to test themselves physically. But it was a lot for me to handle and there's no way I wasn't going to stop endlessly laughing in that moment because I'm so fascinated by him. And I mean, what, he just sat there with a Penn State sweatshirt and didn't say anything for six months and now we've got him in the. He's in the cut and now it's like, I can't wait. I can't. I don't want him to turn his microphone off as Quickly as he does. And he does.
Kyle
Yeah, I just covered. I think we covered it.
Saruti
Is it a good thing or a bad thing that he's not here for this right now? I think it's probably a good thing, right? I don't know.
Ryan Marcillo
He'd be great.
Saruti
I don't think he'd care. I. I mean, you could argue that he is the guy of the four of us that's the most comfortable in his own skin that just is who he is and is not apologetic for it. The not cool thing is. Yeah, you're right. Like, I think. I don't know, maybe not you, Kyle, but I think Ron and I, like, I'm maybe too aware of our perceptions sometimes. I don't think Wargon cares. I think he is who he is and I respect that.
Ryan Marcillo
And he was laughing the entire time. Whenever we do that stuff with him, he. He's like dying laughing. So unless he goes home to his wife and he's like, those guys suck.
Saruti
Yeah. Gotta work on this fucking show again.
Ryan Marcillo
But wait, is he respect or not yet?
Kyle
Another thing. I could have sworn that guy was married. Not yet, though.
Saruti
Yeah, you assume a lot of things about him.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah, I'm expecting like an Isaiah Hartenstein thing where he's like, I'm actually black. Like, everything's on the table with him. I'm serious. I'm not going to rule out anything with him. Here's another war gone email. See, this kind of sucks that he isn't around because you just know it would be gold and understand. Like, when he first started on the show, I was like, he's probably not ever going to talk. Like, does he think he's going to be on life advice with this the whole time? One, he could not care. And then all the months of like, well, I don't think we have room for. We don't really need it. And now I'm like, I want him to talk. Like, I want him to say something. His hit rate, he's like chalamet right now. Okay. Waregon sounds like he's 15. I'm not really criticizing him because he seems like a good hang and he's been a nice addition to the pod. Whenever he chimes in, though, I can't get the image of a funny freshman chopping out the image of a funny freshman chopping it up with you three. It's endlessly entertaining.
Kyle
And it could not look like, I mean, we did this on air. I was like, dude, I mean, I hate to go back to the hairy chess talk, but I was Just like you look at his face, he just looks like his 5:00 shadow comes in at 11:00am and I was just like, you know, he just doesn't. The voice doesn't really match the face. But I've heard that with Ceruti and myself as well. So that's just.
Ryan Marcillo
No, that. That never. No one ever hears somebody's voice for years because it's the same thing as reading a book. And you're imagining what the things will look like based on the description of the thing. And then you go look at it, you're like, oh, well, that's different. It's like, yeah, because you made it up in your head.
Kyle
Yeah.
Ryan Marcillo
So whenever anybody's like, oh, you don't look like, you sound like, well, how is that even possible? Who. Who have you ever met that you. You listened to and never saw a picture be like, you look exactly like the person I had imagined in my head.
Kyle
All Harry. Sal's buddy Harry.
Saruti
Yep. Morgan Freeman. Not even joking.
Ryan Marcillo
Sabrina Carpenter.
Saruti
Team Olivia.
Ryan Marcillo
What? Team?
Saruti
I'm Team Olivia. Rodrigo. Is there beef?
Ryan Marcillo
What's that?
Saruti
I don't know if there's beef. I don't know that there's beef. Well, maybe there is beef, but that driver's license song was about Sabrina Carpenter, I believe.
Ryan Marcillo
I don't know what you're talking about.
Saruti
Those who know now you know.
Kyle
Sure. We can leave it there.
Ryan Marcillo
Sabrina dated that guy that banged the grave, right?
Saruti
Yes. Barry. I don't never know how to pronounce his last name. Keoghan.
Ryan Marcillo
Oh, brave banger.
Saruti
Yeah.
Kyle
Okay, I didn't see that film, but I remember you guys talking about it.
Ryan Marcillo
You didn't see the movie Fallen Down?
Kyle
Yeah, the one about the rich kids. Right, like the Amazon one or whatever.
Ryan Marcillo
I think you gotta watch it just because it was like one of those things that was such a big deal and everybody's like, oh, this is so good, and it's incredible. And then, you see, I thought there.
Kyle
Was an equal number of people who are like. That was such a waste of time.
Ryan Marcillo
It was so absurd, like, towards, like, there's certain things that are happening.
Kyle
Saltburn. That's the way.
Ryan Marcillo
I'd already forgotten about it. That scene was. I'll never forget somebody talking about, like, it was a quote tweet and somebody was explaining, like, I just wanted, you know, Barry to. I wanted to set clothes. I wanted Barry to explore the scene and like, whatever that character would do or whatever. And then there was, like, another director, and people in Hollywood, like, never go at each other. Other. And I mean that more like in the. The way it works. Like, you're not going to see a director necessarily on somebody else's stuff. I. I know there's examples, Right. Scorsese isn't like, Marvel movies. Like, I know it's not a zero instant argument that I'm making here, but the normal way it works is you're just not going to have a lot of writers telling other writers their scripts suck and all that kind of stuff because it's just hard. Right. And in this case, the other director being like, yes. And that's also. As a director, why you can tell people to not do something. And I was like, man. All right. Anyway, we covered it. All right. So Kyle's memoir. I think I speak for everyone listening that if Kyle ever wrote a memoir, it would be a bestseller. So, Kyle, if you decide to write a memoir, I want to suggest a few ideas for titles. Here we go. Let's see if I get the screen up as I read these. Never Just a Nephew.
Kyle
What else you got?
Ryan Marcillo
It doesn't like that one. I don't either. You don't like that one? I thought that one.
Kyle
Is that a pun? Is it like a pun or something I should know?
Ryan Marcillo
No, it just means you're more than a nephew.
Kyle
Okay.
Ryan Marcillo
But he wanted to go, you know, he wanted to get two N's.
Kyle
Never enough. That's sort of. That's a pun.
Ryan Marcillo
Never enough. You like better?
Kyle
Never enough. I don't know. I just. I don't know if it's not. If it's not some sort of play on something. I don't love it.
Ryan Marcillo
Huh. Tough audience, being the star of a show named after someone else. I don't think I love that one either. I don't think I like that one.
Saruti
They're too long. Yeah. Like. Or it has to be like two words, colon, and then something else, you know, it can't just be, like a sentence for a title to a book.
Ryan Marcillo
Producing the stars and afternoon cigs.
Saruti
Afternoon sigs would be pretty good.
Ryan Marcillo
Friend of the frolic.
Kyle
We're getting warmer.
Ryan Marcillo
Poughkeepsie Pats fan. That feels like, I think your editor's. I think that's the publisher.
Kyle
That slur.
Saruti
Whoa.
Ryan Marcillo
All right, this next one works. If you become a millionaire from selling sigs to seven figs.
Kyle
That's great.
Ryan Marcillo
Thank you for reading this. That's not the title. Although. Would that be the best title?
Saruti
Thank you for reading.
Ryan Marcillo
Has anybody ever written a book that just said, thank you for reading this? I bet you there probably is somebody.
Kyle
No doubt.
Ryan Marcillo
That'd be a good one. Thank you. If you were just the friendliest.
Saruti
I think like an artist rendition of Kyle outside. That candid photo of Kyle outside the Frolic Room. That has to be the COVID right? Kyle in the Wild. Kyle in the Wild actually is a pretty good title.
Kyle
It's better than what I've heard so far.
Ryan Marcillo
Where are the Kyle things are.
Kyle
That's great. That's good, too. Yeah. Probably need some major accomplishment before we need to worry about book titles.
Saruti
But everything is fun these days, too. Like just Kyle Unchained. Unfiltered, Unkiled, Untethered.
Ryan Marcillo
Un Nephewed.
Saruti
Un Nephewed. Yeah.
Kyle
Very good.
Ryan Marcillo
All right. Just girls gone. Kyle, if you were like a real ladies man, you'd have to have a few divorces under your belt.
Saruti
Yeah.
Ryan Marcillo
You'd have to be like a real Bob Evans run. Bob Evans book. Maybe wanted to start, like, just pars through that. No, but I got done reading Bob Evans book. It was like, you're not doing with your life nothing. I also felt that way after the Beatles document. I was like, now these guys are doing something.
Kyle
And I just spent eight hours. What the fuck?
Ryan Marcillo
You watch the Raptors? Okay, let's see. What else do we have? Speaking of Kyle, this untold master story that was teased on Bill's pod. So need it for stats. Just no need for stats. Excuse me. Just want to answer this burning question. Bill teased a story with House maybe two, three years ago after Kyle went to the Masters with him. Something about maybe they can share it once Kyle's married and there's some distance from it. Well, Kyle's married, has 17 rabbits. Can we get the details now? This will likely only grow the legend of Kyle.
Kyle
Yeah, it's not worth it for me. It's fine. I was basically just their driver for the Masters. And I got to go to the. The Wednesday practice, which was incredible, but, you know, for most. For the most part, I was just driving them to stuff that there weren't tickets for me for, and I just picked him up and the story happened in the car. That's all I'll say. Bill's dad was there as well. I don't want to wait.
Saruti
Does Ryan know this?
Ryan Marcillo
I don't know.
Kyle
Not.
Saruti
Oh, I know it. Okay.
Ryan Marcillo
Oh, so we're not telling it. I guess it's the.
Saruti
No, we can't tell this story for.
Kyle
A random Friday feedback. Come on.
Saruti
No, like a live show. This deserves its own book. Although it'd be short, but it's. Yeah, yeah. We can't.
Kyle
It doesn't feel right. Sorry.
Ryan Marcillo
That you're not writing a book or telling the story.
Kyle
You got to save something if you want to make some money off it later, I guess. I don't know. I'm just not interested in doing that right now.
Ryan Marcillo
And I'm not interested in you being uncomfortable about telling a story. So I'm not going to keep pressing here. I don't know that I really was. But you're not. Just for the record, you're never telling the story.
Kyle
I'll never say never. Right. But yeah. Keep. Keep on moving, would you? So stupid. I hate that Cerutty knows. Dude.
Saruti
That's so stupid. Would you know what House told me? I forget how I even know.
Kyle
House was the one. I was worried about getting it out. Bill's dad was just, like, in a coma, laughing so hard.
Saruti
Wait, did you. How about just quick aside?
Kyle
What the hell? Oh, okay.
Ryan Marcillo
Sorry.
Saruti
No, this is the House quick aside. And Bill did talk about this on his pod, so it's not like we're sharing anything that has been shared before. But the picture of House and Van and Paige.
Kyle
It's a real roots laugh right there.
Ryan Marcillo
This is the hardest I've seen Ceruti laughing forever. So, Paige, our golfing friend. So wait, what happened?
Saruti
No, it's just like, House posted that on his Instagram story. It's so funny. Like, out of nowhere, just a picture of him and Paige. Sporonic.
Ryan Marcillo
What?
Saruti
Do I forget how to pronounce?
Kyle
Fearneck?
Saruti
I think we're going with and. And ban.
Ryan Marcillo
No one knows.
Saruti
It's just so funny. It's just so House. Oh, man, I love House. Anyway.
Ryan Marcillo
Who is dying right now. And it's. There's no hidden meaning behind this. Just. It was.
Saruti
I just thought it gorgeous.
Ryan Marcillo
Right?
Saruti
I was like. And, you know, side of post in the feed.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah.
Saruti
Everyone to see.
Ryan Marcillo
Here you go.
Kyle
And then was. Van's comment was like, I love how you tagged me in it. Like it was part my idea, too, or something like that.
Saruti
I got to look up House's Instagram because. Did he post any other pictures? Radio row.
Ryan Marcillo
Let's see.
Saruti
No, I don't think so. That's.
Kyle
That's it. That was his highlight.
Ryan Marcillo
Only when he posted Losing.
Saruti
I might be the only one that finds that. That funny. I think it's.
Ryan Marcillo
No, I know why you do.
Kyle
I just.
Ryan Marcillo
I don't know if I've ever seen him laugh this hard.
Saruti
I just. House is. House is really funny, man. He's a very funny guy. And I Just found that that's a very house moment.
Ryan Marcillo
I don't want you to stop laughing. I'm like, all right, I got to keep moving. Keep moving. That was good. Was there an answer? Anyone there? You're not writing a book, though, Kyle, Would you write one?
Kyle
No, I don't think so. Maybe if this all falls down and I can't get into a fire department somewhere, I'd consider it, but I think it would be a reach.
Ryan Marcillo
So, Rudy producing the stars now?
Saruti
I don't think so.
Ryan Marcillo
Saruti, you've heard me. Now listen.
Saruti
Maybe you should stop trying.
Kyle
To write stuff and just come up with titles for other people's stuff. Ryan, that's really. That's something.
Ryan Marcillo
I actually. I haven't talked about any of it because I'm not allowed to, but I'm. Things are awesome on the writing stuff. So, yeah, I mean, I could do like a mini victory lap of something, but I'll just hopefully wait for the bigger victory lap because it's. If there's, like, a lot of mini victory laps in Hollywood that make you feel good about, you know, what you're doing and everything. But I. I'm. I'm not actually allowed to say what it is, so. No, I could have talked about it on the podcast. I. I probably should have done it there, but this is going to run as a podcast, too, so I get. I catch a lot of. From people that don't like me for. For being like, oh, good luck with all that, or whatever things, you know, I feel really good about where I'm at. And it was tough. It was really tough in the beginning, but I also knew it was something that was going to be tough. Like, you don't just get off the plane and be like, yep, making your TV show. Like, what you did here doesn't work that way. So maybe one day I'll do, like, a much more in depth of, like, what I learned about it. But I was actually putting a lot of the stuff that. In this book that I'm writing. But I hit, like, a really tough spot with this book where I just didn't feel like it was even close to as good as I wanted it to be. It was 270 pages. Porsche. Rudy's heard these rants. 270 pages, like, raw pages. Knowing that there'd be edits and everything, because at one point I was like, do I have enough here? And then I did it with the word count into book format, and I was like, oh, my God. And so no publisher would ever let me For a first book, even though I don't know that I'd ever want to write one again, let me do a book that long. But it was important to me when I saw, like, people that got book deals and I would always, like, look when I like going to Barnes and Noble and I would look at books and be like, okay, this guy was on Bravo, like season two of this show, and he's got a book. And then it would be like 164 pages. And then I was like, if you're writing a book, like, write the book. And so I want it to be longer than that. But as a first time, I'd be lucky if they would. Okay, like 215, 220. The problem is creatively, I. I needed to take a break from it because I just didn't think it was really good enough. While all this other stuff that I'm doing is. Is going really good to this point with now, the goalposts continue to move. So there we go. We got a little writing update.
Saruti
Wow.
Kyle
I was just making a joke about how good your titles were.
Ryan Marcillo
I'm sorry.
Saruti
Well, the title of the book has to be I was right now, right?
Ryan Marcillo
No, the original title was like, I was in like an angry phase when I started writing. Just. That's always good. Yeah, right. I was letting angry. Yeah, like, and this guy sucks. There's still a couple of those in there for some people that I felt like weren't the greatest people ever. But, you know, I also call myself out in it quite a bit. But I, you know, that's the problem is when I was writing it, I was like, I don't really know. Like, when you write a script, you have to know how it's going to end. Although there's probably plenty of movies that be like, did you guys just have an idea? And then we're like, last 30 pages, we'll figure it out. I think there's a lot of movies that that's happened, TV shows a little tougher, you know, to get somebody to go, how is this going to end? And then be behind the whole project. So I don't. I don't know what's going to happen with that. But I won't give up. It's just I need to take a break. So I don't know what the hell we're doing right now.
Kyle
Should we read an email?
Saruti
We read an email in like an hour.
Ryan Marcillo
No, you're right, we have not. So let's read a couple more. This is about elusive format of anything that we'll ever do anyway. Hey, Ryan, instead of getting swole working on your speedo lines at the beach and watching sports, you might think about picking up a book once in a while. I usually don't get called out for my lack of reading. Maybe then.
Saruti
Yeah, yeah, go ahead. People just way off who we are anyway. All good.
Ryan Marcillo
That's good though. It means, you know, it means not everybody's is locked in and this is what feedback's for. Maybe then you would know that Dogman is a classic literature series and sold over 60 million copies. The above should be read in a tone of righteous indignation. All right, so I think this person actually totally does get all of it. They're just fucking with me. In all seriousness though. Yeah, so this person does know they're not making fun of my reading choices. The books are incredibly popular. I've read all of them with my kids. They're hilarious. They're a mix of the Simpsons style of commentary and Cormac McCarthy's absurdism. Okay, the latter might be a stretch now. You know. Love the show. P.S. my female wife starting to listen to get into life advice. Starting to get into life advice. So watch out.
Kyle
Okay, Dog man spin off of Captain Underpants, which I was very into in my youth.
Saruti
Oh, I didn't know that.
Kyle
Yeah, Scholastic Book fair came to town. Best believe was trying to get that.
Ryan Marcillo
All right. My father was the greatest samurai in the empire. Great intro. Howdy gang. I'll keep it short and fast. How much time goes by before a life advice email gets tossed to the side? If I write on a Saturday and just get read by the following Friday, should I abandon all hope that it gets the spotlight? I can only imagine how many emails you guys receive on a weekly basis. Thank you very much. P.S. ryan, I also, I too visited the WWII Museum in New Orleans and it was absolutely incredible. In order to digest all of the information that place has to offer, it would take two to three business days. Yeah, I didn't even make it halfway through in like two and a half, 245. So I will go back. I loved it. There's no rhyme or reason to how any of the emails. It just they come in and then Kyle sips them, runs them through the old sluice box and then I go through those and I may miss some alz timers. You know, I'll admit there's probably some Mondays after a football weekend where I'm like, let me skim a couple the blind ones where I haven't pre read anything which probably happens a little too often. Sometimes it's good. Sometimes people get one through. There's not really a thing, but if you sent one in, like a few weeks ago, it's probably already lost.
Saruti
Yeah. What's your. I mean, are you pro sending multiple emails of the same topic or reply you're out like, one and done. Even if it's a good email, though, you know?
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah, but I mean, we've had people in the past just be like, you have to read this, you have to read this, you have to read this. And it's like, you know me, it might be great. And if I see it like seven times, I'm like, you need to have another hobby.
Saruti
Yeah.
Ryan Marcillo
Then spamming the out of us with that. But then sometimes they're really good, too, to Saruti's point. So I don't know that every single one gets read because there can be some really busy days, which is great because, dude, when we started doing that part of it, I just was trying to figure out kind of a light way to end the pod, something we'd all look forward to, something that, hey, if you didn't like the guests, you didn't like the open, then maybe that would be fun. And it's not like it's the most original idea, but I just like. Just like a script. I like having a good ending. And at least with life advice, we know we're going to have fun, usually for 20 minutes. And I, you know, it's funny because I look forward to these, even this today. Like, you go, oh, we've got this long taping schedule and all this stuff. I just have so much fun with you guys when we do this and that it's lasted this long, that I still have this much fun, that it's always like a fun part of the taping day. Not that the other parts are hard, but there's no pressure. Like, there's monologues that I do or I get done. I'm like, that wasn't as good as you wanted it to be. It's like, all right, well, it's too late now because now we got to do the guest and make sure you have that. And then I'll have interviews where I go, you didn't. You didn't. You didn't map that out good enough. You mailed it in with that guest. And I get pissed at myself. That never happens with life advice. It's always fun. It's always something I look forward to. So there you go.
Saruti
Quick aside, as somebody who likes history, why Is the World War II Museum in New Orleans.
Ryan Marcillo
I don't think I have a great answer for that. I think the boats that they used storming the beaches in Normandy there.
Saruti
Oh. Were made there.
Ryan Marcillo
Were made there. But I could be wrong. I shouldn't. I should have a better answer for you there. But I think there was a lot of manufacturing and probably a lot of shipping out of there. Although there was a lot of shipping out of Virginia. Like, I think that might have been the majority of it, at least. When I was reading about the African campaign, I think that was. Who. Who did that one? Rick Atkinson. He's got a multi volume thing on World War II.
Kyle
You looking at a whiteboard or something? Do you have like.
Ryan Marcillo
Oh, I'm looking at my library bookshelf.
Saruti
All right, come on.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah. So I'm about to start new James Holland one that has Italy. I read his Normandy 44 one, which was terrific. But when you read the Rick Atkinson one, which one is it? I don't know. This is good content, though. You read any fiction? Rarely. I'll read Cormac McCarthy. I've read a bunch of his. I read Of Mice and Men the other day.
Saruti
Casually read Of Mice and Men. I read that since high school.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah. It takes two days to read it.
Saruti
Yeah, I guess that's true. Although that's one of those books. I don't think I read that when it was assigned in high school, but then I read it afterwards because I'm like, I probably should read this book at some point in my life.
Ryan Marcillo
I read the Road again. I'm not to be super weird or emotional, but I don't know that I've ever read a book that makes me feel the way the End of the Road does. In Cormac McCarthy's book of it. The first time I read it was maybe 15 years ago and I was like. I mean, it was a kind of like, think about this. I read. I didn't finish it before I went to bed and I woke up and the first thing I did was I read the end of his book. Like, I couldn't do anything until I had finished the book. And then I went into work and it is like the power to be able to make people feel something like that just from writing. It's pretty incredible. I think it's pretty inspiring. And now we're getting really weird and deep on this Friday feedback. I'm trying to find this book and I can't.
Kyle
Anyone is not watching this on YouTube. He has not looked at us for the last three minutes. And he just, he went through this incredibly.
Saruti
Now he's gone book.
Kyle
That's very close to him. And the whole time he's just scanning for a book. And it's.
Saruti
Electric, really. You know, electric stuff.
Ryan Marcillo
An army at dawn. All right, when we sent over, we sent the boys over to Africa, people did not do a very good job of like packing ahead of time. Incredibly inefficient. They had to like go through all.
Saruti
They just didn't pack.
Ryan Marcillo
Well, no, they would like put the ramps to get the jeeps off. They put it like the ramps onto the shipping containers first and then they'd put the jeeps in. So then they would land and go, now where are the ramps?
Kyle
Like, do some stuff.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah, right. Tons of stuff. Tons of stuff like that. And it was just incredibly inefficient. And Germany thought, this is going to be a joke. We're going to smoke these guys Desert Fox. And they didn't. So anyway, that was, that was really good. But yeah, I. I don't know. I mean, in that time I probably could have looked it up instead of staring and then giving you a speech on the road.
Saruti
Yeah, but this is why we have video. So do we relive that magical moment?
Ryan Marcillo
Why is the. What is it?
Saruti
This just says, primarily because the significant role played the city played in the war effort, particularly due to the production of Higgins Boats, a crucial landing craft which were built in New Orleans by Andrew Higgins and the city's status as a major embarkation point for troops.
Kyle
Nice info retention there, Ryan. That's great.
Ryan Marcillo
Hey, you know, you want to talk about getting pissed? I get so mad when I don't retain stuff. Super mad. I'm about six years away from reading books with a notepad. And then they're like, all right, now he's totally lost his mind. He's done. When you see that. When you see that, it's over.
Saruti
See, every once in a while I'm. I'm with you. Like, every once in a while if I need like a Lord of the Lord of the Rings, like refresher. And I don't. Okay, I don't have time to watch the full movie, but I want to figure out, like, why, you know, what was Rivendell? Like, that's what YouTube's for. You know, someone does a 10 minute thing of like, here's everything you know about Rivendale or something you missed about a book or like, you know, hey, if I'm watching Dune, like, if I want to read Dune 2, which I just read that book. Like, let me, let me YouTube like, oh, what's this? What's House. House. What's the origin of House Atreides again? Like that's, that's. I feel like what YouTube is for.
Kyle
Ryan's looking at this case again. I don't know. Do we lose?
Saruti
Yeah, we lost.
Kyle
I mean.
Ryan Marcillo
A lot, a lot of work to do over there. I mean there was a joke and be like. Yeah. And some of his stuff that studies, stuff that actually happened.
Saruti
I like fiction. I'm sorry.
Ryan Marcillo
What else? I don't think I've. I don't know fiction wise. I read Wool and we, we had the author on When Silo came out for Apple tv. I did read the Martian and I kind of felt like it was just. Everybody was talking about it, you know. Yeah, that was like a good flight book. You know, it was on AM on a plane and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. And I've, I've read all the Vonnegut stuff because I was obsessed with him as a kid. And I went back and read Cat's Cradle because Cat's Cradle was like one of probably the first book. Like it's 16 years old where I, I thought, oh my God, like I can't, I can't believe somebody could like do something like this and create this world and all this different stuff. And then there's like a lot of Vonnegut stuff that connects. So I would, if I sat back and decided to read like Vonnegut for a couple weeks, I'm sure I would enjoy it. But I just am very much into the non fiction stuff. I'm reading a new thing now too. Susan Wise Bauer on volume one. And it's basically like the start. It's basically like the start of civilization. Just like the first recorded Sumerian memories. Yeah, there you go, Ceruti.
Saruti
Yeah, see I getting in there with a little bit Kish the Enoch. Right.
Ryan Marcillo
You know what's funny is like every single origin story starts in some version of like a flood. So like Noah's ark is not just for you. You know, there'll be like a fish that tells a dude to climb a mountain. The flood comes and then the fish is like, you're so smart. Thanks for believing me. You're in charge of everything. So a lot of, A lot of civilizations all study, all starting with the same flood storyline. Boy, this might be the worst or best one we've ever done.
Saruti
Let's finish on an actual. Do we have one more that we could actually hit? I don't know. Although who knows, maybe people like that History. That was like history Corner.
Ryan Marcillo
This is a niche one. Can you please get in touch with New England Wings and have them rebrand to New England? It was sitting right there and they missed it. New England Wings was the go to for UVM people of a certain age. And I gotta be honest with you, that email is so good. New England. Yeah, it's so good. I might think there must be some.
Kyle
Sort of trademark that they couldn't. Right.
Ryan Marcillo
It's so good. Someone had had to have Pat Riley's.
Kyle
Just got it along with all the three pizza.
Ryan Marcillo
All right. Ain't no hobby. Hey, guys. Whenever Tyson Fury comes across my feed or TV screen, my mind immediately goes to his appearance on the pot a few years back when he took his pre fight locked in mindset way too far and offered up the worst interview of all time. At least until Ryan challenged him and broke through. As RR might say about a quarterback who's unafraid of throwing a few picks, I actually came away more impressed. Can you guys share some other stories and moments that you've been most impressed with each other? Thanks so much for all the entertainment over the years. That's from Oslo.
Kyle
Well, the Marshall thing never gets old for me, just watching him raise his eyebrows and come up with that first question. I've never seen anything like it wasn't.
Ryan Marcillo
A very good question.
Kyle
I think it was. So you've been away from the team for. How's it been being away from the team for a little while. And you know what? That must happen to that guy so many times that the fact that you didn't just like stop reset anything. You're just like, we're doing this interview. I think you probably made him feel good too.
Saruti
We're gonna make it happen.
Ryan Marcillo
Has there been a time that anybody. Do you have something off the top of your head that has impressed you about anything we've done? Ceruti? Because now I probably will.
Saruti
KANE on Could I say that? I don't know. I don't know. That's a tough one. I'd have to think about that. That's impressed like me, like the guest has impressed me or that's been impressive to me about the show. Whatever. Or a question you asked or something. I guess.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah.
Saruti
Those are two different things.
Ryan Marcillo
Yeah. Something that compliment me, I think is what the guy is saying.
Kyle
I thought your Markle explanation in front of a live thing went well. That could have went terrible. You know, that shit was getting beamed out to everyone. And I think you. I Think you nailed that.
Saruti
That is good. Another good answer would be, I think you're really good. This is maybe not. I'm just a compliment. This isn't like, necessarily answering the email or question, but, like, that Luca Pod on that Saturday night was like your. Was it the magnum opus? Whatever. You're like that. That was like peak Priscilla podcasting. You know, I think there's a couple things of, like, that's. That's you. There's the. The town rewatchables that everybody talks about. Like, they're like these. That's like, that's your apex mountain. Like, those are two of your apex mountains. I think, like, when you're in that setting where you're just, like, totally loose, sometimes you're like, in the second or third chair and you just kind of, like, don't give a fuck. That, I think, sometimes is people's favorite Rosillo, and that sometimes is my favorite solo. So I'll just say that that Saturday night Luca Pod was some of your best work. I think that cigarette line was basically uttered by, like, everyone on Twitter for, like, three days.
Ryan Marcillo
I couldn't believe how many people like that line. I thought it was kind of like a throwaway just to make the point, and I didn't even think it was all like that. But I don't know. People. People seem to like it. Serutti already knows, like, how I feel about him in that I can throw all sorts of stuff at him and he somehow, like, makes it make sense to me. Like, I. I'm not the easiest to work with. Not because, you know, all the stuff of, like, people thinking, like, I could be difficult. I'm not that easy to work with for somebody who's, like, on the creative side, because I basically know exactly what I want to do, and I'm likely always going to do it. And more often than not, like, I'm doing it long enough that I trust my instincts. But the little edge that. That Ceruti can add for me on some of the stuff that I don't think about, and the amount of times too, that's really say, hey, maybe you should try this, maybe you should try that. And then I don't do it. And yet he'll still be like, I'm ready to offer up something else. That takes a lot. It takes a lot, I would say, for Kyle, just, like, when we think we've got the full scope of it, just when we think we have it all, we never do. And you've talked about, like, the soft jabs and Sometimes I'll think about like, as the host going, hey, you can't like soft jab Kyle all the time about the rabbits. Like, you can't soft jab them all the time about the background. But it's not an, it's not a bit like you present yourself in such an incredibly honest way. And it's so much fun to talk about your background because it's fucking crazy, Kyle. Like, you have all of these stories that don't make any sense. And I think it's important now, as you've gotten older, to make sure that, like, we always package that into how funny that was as opposed to like when you're really young and first starting with us. I probably wasn't as sensitive to the idea of like, hey, I don't want to just like, that was only two years ago, dude. Like, I don't feel like getting dumped on for 20 minutes at the end of a podcast three days a week. And you handling that in the way that you've handled it is not an easy thing because I, I hope it never felt like I was like, I'm gonna just beat up on Kyle. It was just. There were so many stories where I didn't know what to do. Like when you had the adult roommate that may or may not have been in jail and you're like, how do you, how do I not have more follow ups? Or how is that not crazy? Or how do I not bring that back in a recall? And you've always been so good with it. And I think there's also a part of it now where it's, it's kind of funnier that we can go back and laugh about it because it's not your current situation, but you deserve a lot of credit for that.
Kyle
Wow, that was super nice. Just the difference between a guy with less to lose and a guy with more to lose, that's really just went into a lot of the calculus of those decisions. I just didn't have much to lose back then.
Ryan Marcillo
Okay, we'll do one last one here. How about that? Is that. Yeah, does that make sense or did we just leave on that one? Because it was so nice. Everybody was so nice.
Saruti
It was nice. I think we do. What is it? Is it a good one? Can we do one more? Let's do one more.
Ryan Marcillo
How many ovens does one man need? Let's see here. So it's only two ovens.
Saruti
Yeah.
Ryan Marcillo
There's a microwave.
Kyle
Yeah.
Ryan Marcillo
There's two baking ovens. There's also like a bread drawer in there which Usually.
Saruti
What other kind of oven is there then? A baking oven?
Ryan Marcillo
Well, there's two different baking ovens, though. There's. There's different styles of it. Basically, guys, this was a house that was built and I bought it, and one day I'm gonna have to sell it. So you're going to want that second oven in there. There's a certain level, these kitchen SAP. The coffee maker I've never used. I don't know how to make it. People have come over and been like, oh, hey, can I make a coffee? I'm like, I don't know. I don't know.
Kyle
You can figure it out. I think the instructions.
Ryan Marcillo
Well, there's no odds here either. So I, you know, they're. They kind of look, there's some nice stuff in this kitchen. I used to cook all the time. I used to love cooking. Look up recipes, challenge myself, try to figure this stuff out. I don't cook as much as I used to, which, you know, kind of pisses me off. All right, I think that's it. I think that's all we need for today.
Saruti
Wow, 50 minutes.
Ryan Marcillo
Geez, 50 by, huh?
Saruti
Flew by. I don't know if it was the longest 50 minutes or the shortest 50 minutes of my life, but those two.
Kyle
Minutes that he was staring at the bookcase, those were like. That felt like five minutes because he was also talking. But yeah, other than that. Really flew by.
Ryan Marcillo
Other than that. Yeah, that was. That was good. Okay, that'll do it for us. Thanks for listening to Friday Feedback and watching on our YouTube page.
