time offer the Michigan Wolverines are your national champions in basketball. Terrific game last night. I really enjoyed it. I know it was ugly at times and it was a bit of a grind. And the way I'll always watch a basketball game is I'll go, who looks like they're having an easier time getting into their offense. And I think for 40 minutes throughout the course of the I just felt like Michigan had things that I trusted a lot more than I trusted offensively from UConn. UConn hung in there. We'll get to the entire game and break it down here, but congrats to them, they were terrific. And again, I thought they were the right team, the better team considering how this all played out. Just terrific season from them. So five things that I was looking at last night, I told you on Monday I was curious to see how they were going to try to use terrorist Reed defensively because he wants to show on ball pressure. UConn's really big on that, you know, two to the ball show after the screen and then it's up to Reed to try to figure out how he's going to recover. And it seemed to be that they were going to show that ball pressure. But then also it was a priority for Reed to try to get back to Mara, to prevent Mara from getting these like downhill run ups and these incredible lobs that we see from Cadeau all the time. So I thought Reed was just fantastic with that kind of stuff. But when I looked at the first couple looks for Michigan on the shot attempts, you're like, okay, this is going to be tough because you Reed glued tomorrow outside by like the three point line. And then that leaves Morris Johnson one on one with Caravan like two feet away from the hoop. You're like, all right, so Caravan's gonna have to deal with this all night. And granted Caravan's really tall, but he's not as big as Morris Johnson. He's not as athletic. Morris gets a really good look, he misses it. Then they have Mara on a post one on one with no extra help against Reed, and Reed's certainly sturdy enough to hold this position. We're still talking about a 73 guy. Mara gets a good look, he misses that. The Next play down, they get more as into a ball switch. Well, it's a. It's a screen. Not on the ball. It's off the ball. It's a screen that ends up with ball solo ball on Morris Johnson. Morris gets a deep seal against him. Catch, turn around, two points. So granted it's only two points on three shot attempts, but you're watching it going. This is going to be really hard, especially when you consider the lack of size that everybody's going to have against Michigan. And with UConn's lack of depth on the front line. That's 74 total minutes last night from Reed and Caravan, your center and power forward. Caravan played all 40 minutes, Reed played 34. And Raibo, who I was wondering could they try to sneak 10 minutes out of him, the freshman seven footer, but clearly they don't trust him. No disagreement with that decision whatsoever. But you knew like this is going to be a daunting task. Number two, how would Yaxel. Yaxel Lindenberg look? And he clearly looked limited. He had 36 minutes last night, which is kind of shocking because how long it took him to get it going offensively or even attempt a shot. He was.05 on threes, 13 points, two boards, which tells you something. His first field goal attempt was at 10:13 of the first half. His first make was at 308 of the first half. There was this stretch where Caddo was out with some foul trouble where it looked like he was like, all right, I'm going to try. I'm going to really push this and try to take over. Drove hard on the right side, did get a foul. He had another one where he got tied up and I think he could just kind of tell like I can push it and I can maybe take more shots if I want to and drive. But he just clearly didn't feel right. And he had said in the in game interview, I just feel kind of weak again. A massive credit to Michigan to get through Arizona to destroy Arizona and then beat UConn without the Big Ten Player of the year being even close to what he's been in Londonborg. It's just a credit to this team. Number three, the shooting. This was not a beauty. Michigan started O of 8. They were OH of 8 for the first half from 3 yet they were still up 4. And that was because of the free throw game that we'll talk about a little bit, but plus seven and free throw makes in that first half. So that's why they had the lead. UConn shot 5 of 15 from threes in the first half. They shot 4 of 18 in the second half. They had a 0 of 11 stretch. So I think if you have that right on that side of the court, three the first 19 three point attempts combined on that side. Michigan first half, UConn second half was, I think it's all misses then 0 of 19. Mullins kind of killed him. He's clearly their most talented, kind of best option on offense. He started to a 14 in this game. And there was something that's not even specific to just Mullins, although he was part of it, is that, you know, UConn is so beautiful in these sets that they run. They had this one play where they ran three different curls from the right side down to the middle. And the third curl was actually the option that they wanted. It may have been a solo ball three. It was an incredible play. But anytime, and I wouldn't even call it breaking the paint, it's almost like breaking the three point line. Anytime you had somebody on the perimeter from UConn with the ball, where it was like a probing dribble or a drive off of something, there was this hesitancy to just want to go at anyone in there and that's what happens. That's what size does to you. When Mars back there at 7:3 waving his arms around, you're like, maybe I don't want to shoot this. And there were just these moments where you could tell where the Yukon ball handler in that decision. It was almost like we could see their thoughts on the screen and their thoughts would have been like, I don't know if I want to do this. And then they might do it. And it's just, you're never going to score that way. I would have loved to have seen just a little bit more of, of them going, all right, we're getting run off the three point line. We're not making any three pointers. Reed's dealing with a seven foot three guy down there. So this isn't going to be easy. Is there any way to try to get inside of these guys a little bit more and then know that we're making that decision? Like, once we're getting to a spot, we're going into like a shot decision as opposed to kind of being on the fence. Because when you're on the fence with the ball in your hands and you're going into a shot, it's just, it's never ever going to go in. And with Mullins getting off to that kind of bad start, not Only on the inside and the outside. It's just going to be like, how are they going to keep up scoring if this guy is going to be shooting at this poorly? And look as great as Caravan has been throughout this entire UConn run, he is somebody that needs to do work to get into a shot, which I think is part of his NBA evaluation. Now, it's not like he can't make a catch and shoot three. He did it a couple times last night. But he prefers, like greatly prefers catch, dribble, reset, and then get back into the shot. And Michigan just recovers so well, even if you think you're working off of something and it's into a catch. And I'll be able to get over here one side, the other side two, three feet away, and I'm going to get a clear shot at this thing. Those, those shots are not there against Michigan the way they are against most of your opponents. Number four. At one point, watching Trey McKinney, the freshman comes off the bench, I write down like, man, I really like this guy. And then I look, I'm like, he's one for seven. What's wrong with you? It's like back to back Michigan games where Cadou was so great in the first half against Arizona, and you're like, what? He's 2:14. But McKinney has something to him, and it's partly because of his size and how aggressive he can be. But he has these possessions where maybe they're getting clogged up and you'd have stretches where it's like, hey, Michigan's missed seven of eight shots. UConn's missed their last eight shots. Like that stuff was happening throughout the game. McKinney will just have a moment. It's like, all right, enough of this shit. Like, I'm just going to drive and maybe I'll get to the free throw line, which he did four times and made all those free throws. Number five. So Michigan shoots 2 of 15 on threes for the game. They're minus seven in rebounds to UConn, but they made 25 of 28 free throws. So that's 13 more points in free throw makes. I figured UConn was probably going to foul them a ton of we could get into some calls that didn't go their way. That is not the story of this game whatsoever. Solo ball's fourth foul when Cadot has a one on one in transition, ball reaches. And at that point, like, ball's really important to what they're trying to be here to close out this game. And ball reaches. It's.
Steve Ceruti
He's.
Ryan Rosello
There's no way he's going to, like. It's. It's really rare that you're going to be able to, like, tie up Cadeau at this point. Cadou ends up making the layup, and it's the fourth foul, and Ball ends up playing 16 minutes last night. So some poor foul decisions there as well. Although I would admit there were times when I was watching Elliot Cadeau where I was like, I wonder if Kyle Lowry's his favorite player ever, but we shouldn't do that. There was a moment, though. There was a moment. At 62, 56, caravans just made a three. Reed forces a turnover on kind of a dribble. It's not even a dribble handoff. It just was a lazy pass for that situation of the game. You know, it's two minutes to go here, and Reed tracks the ball down, saves it. So at first you're like, is he going to get a layup and cut this thing to four with two minutes? Is UConn going to find a way to stay in this and pull it off? And it ends up in solo ball's hands. It's a tough layup to make. Although he wasn't going up against size at the rim. He misses that, and guess who? McKinney hits a monster three, and that's the game. And the right team won. Even if that. That layup had gone in, I'm like, uconn's going to cut this thing. Because in that moment when the ball's loose, I'm like, they're going to cut it to four. There's two minutes left. Like, UConn can't be killed. They're going to do it again. We're going to be sitting here in 20 minutes going, how do they win another national championship? And that did not happen. So Michigan wins, the first team to ever win a national championship with five transfers as starters. This is a big play, the results thing that I will harp on forever because we're never going to stop doing it. But it is kind of funny how, like, when a team who brings in transfers for the decades that we now, there's nothing like we've seen the last few years. There's nothing really to compare it to. But the team that brings in a lot of transfers, it's like, ah, there's just no culture, you know, a bunch of guys worried about themselves. We weren't able to build the team. It's like, or I'll be dusty May and I'll just do it with all these other guys that were highly recruited other than Le Borg and pull this off. So there'll be a team. I don't know how soon it'll happen in the next few years with the transfer portal, but there'll be a team that's a little bit more homegrown and then everyone will applaud them for doing the exact opposite of what we saw last night and be like, that's the way to do it. So I'm just reminding you, try not to forget. We'll all collectively try not to forget when a team that's more homegrown maybe only has one one transfer. Although that's probably never going to happen. Let's say two transfers that are major contributors to a team and they'll say these guys were here, they're on campus, they bought in and it was unbelievable and it was a real tone setter in this world of the transfer portal. This is it. It's like, yeah, except for that year where Michigan had five new guys and they killed a great Arizona team and took UConn out and again was the better team. So congrats to them. From the wildest upsets to the most creative bracket buss shared, we saw that no matter how the bracket ended, every moment was a chance for fans to win and reward themselves with Reese's. All tournament long brackets have busted for Reese's and we've seen some epic fails and even more epic Reese's fans. We even sent someone to the Final Four. Everything happens for Reese's, even busted brackets shop Reese's now at hersheyland.com/reese's. I want to talk about this Giannis thing. The big story on ESPN.com from Sean Charan, who you know has been on this because it's one of the biggest stories in the NBA throughout the entire year and it's a huge story because it doesn't seem to ever have an end. So I want to run through some of the Giannis timeline stuff here and then also the comparison of like what other teams could be in the market for him, while also kind of like warning them like you, you were potentially doing what Milwaukee has just been doing, trying to appease their star and these moves have just dug a bigger hole for this team. So if we go timeline, let's go timeline specific based on what I had said about being at the combine a year ago in Chicago last May and then all the pieces that Shams have and I know when I expect you to fully trust Shams more than me. But it was just something that was being talked about at the combine nonstop. All right, Dave, did you hear, you know, this Giannis thing or what's going on there? And the constant. The one thing that I had heard that I thought was specific enough, that was important was that if this were to happen, this was kind of like paraphrasing the Giannis team side of this. If this was going to happen, like, we're going to be in control of it. Meaning Giannis's team and Giannis were going to pick where he wanted to go, which, you know, you can say whatever you want. The team can be like, all right, cool, but we're going to trade you what we think is the best deal for the Milwaukee Bucks. But that's where a lot of this stuff gets not. It's not like in the gray area. It's just you have two parties with entirely different goals. Milwaukee to do the best deal for the team if they were to trade him, and Giannis to make sure he ends up somewhere that he actually wants to go ahead and play. So that's the first part, and that goes back a year ago. So if we look at Seam's piece, he mentions late July, the front office flies out to Greece, meet with Giannis and his team, and they're like, look, Miles Turner, we think we can be competitive this year. Giannis clearly, to me, is still a top five player in the world. You know, if it goes right, he plays a full season. You know, is there a way to be competitive? They're probably overselling how competitive they thought they could be, because it just sounds better. And that's the whole pitch. And during that time, Giannis is like, yeah, that's awesome. And I'd also play for New York, which is probably not what you want to hear. And credit to Brian Windhorst, who not the most recent time he joined us, but prior to that, we brought up Giannis, and he was like, look, the Knicks were kind of sitting there going, well, if you wanted to be here, like, you. You can't wait this late during the off season calendar for the NBA. You, like, this is something we should have figured out, like, before the draft, like working on some parameters of a deal here. So that wasn't a great sign. Like, imagine being in that Milwaukee Bucks contingency and then just flying back to Milwaukee going, that's not great. So for a few months, the language in Seam's piece is essentially like, prepare to be moved. So whether that's the team saying that to Giannis or Giannis saying, I obviously want out of here. So what are we doing? That's number three. Then late January. So I'd say number four here on the timeline. Giannis's team meet with ownership, meet with the front office. So we're talking weeks before the trade deadline, where there's, quote, a do right handshake agreement. And what they mean by this is to do right by Giannis. Now, it all depends on which source is telling you what, which version of events. Four people can be in the same room, have the. Have the conversation 30 minutes, and then it's four different versions of it later on once it spills out to the public. But there appeared to be at least some sort of understanding that this. This language of, like, do right is like, you're still going to do Giannis the favor, I guess, because everything that he's done for the Milwaukee franchise, and this is really is just about, like, don't send me someplace that sucks, because then I'm not going to resign there, anywhere. And that also limits the market on top of everything else. So prior to the trade deadline, They had also agreed on that they would trade him collaboratively should the time come. But again, that this language, when I read that, I think, all right, like, who said that Giannis's side said, hey, this is supposed to be collaborative? Or did the front office. Did somebody in the front office actually, like, say to somebody off the record, yeah, we agreed to do this collaboratively. Like, it doesn't make as much sense for a front office to confirm that kind of thing, even if that was kind of their best intention on the buck side. So we get to February 4, trade deadlines, February 5. There's all sorts of reports about Cleveland being interested. The asking price was apparently Evan Mobley. Cleveland wasn't interested. Philly, they asked for Vijay Edgecombe. Philly said no. Minnesota was in the mix. Golden State was in the mix. There's a Miami deal that was reported about Hero and Khalil Ware, and then some other pieces which, honestly, like, that deal might look better and better later this summer. So then he's not traded. And you can get into, did they really want to trade him? There's a report that Horace wasn't returning everybody's calls. I mean, was he not returning calls because deep down they just played the game and knew they were never going to trade him, or was he trying to just go silent as a negotiating tactic? I have no idea. Both would make sense. The feeling being that if they were to trade him this summer, that then there would be more value. I don't know that I even agree with that. Because you're also eliminating whatever playoff run this is for maybe like one or two of those suitors that could have gone after him. Then there's this shutdown investigation. He wanted to play. They didn't want him to play because of the value of this draft pick, considering all the draft picks that they've given up and don't have control of moving into the future. So I completely understand the Bucks wanting to tank here. You'd also think that Giannis would maybe with a $275 million extension staring at him this fall, would think, hey, you know what? Maybe I shut it down here a little bit just to make sure I go into the summer, into next season totally healthy, and I get that extension from the Bucks or I get it from another team that I'm traded from. Again, it would take him six months to have to sign that because of the rules on all this different stuff. But this investigation of whether or not he was available, I didn't know about any of this stuff that I was reading this morning. Like, this stuff's wild. Like, apparently he was going to play in three on three, and then he decided he didn't want to play. But then when he was investigated about the league, he said he was totally good. And then the Milwaukee was investigated and they were like, no, he's not cleared. Clearly they don't want to play him. I was a little surprised at why he wanted to play, other than, I'm like, this is one of the most competitive dudes I've ever seen. And if he's healthy, maybe he just wants to play basketball the same way. Why Steph Curry wouldn't shut it down for the entire season, misses almost 30 games and stuff's like, hey, I just want to. I love doing this and I want to come back and play basketball. But then there's this report that there's some sort of Nike clause, that if giannis is over 41 games, it's all sorts of extra money. So now I don't even know what to believe on that part of it. Look, There's no way he's not going to sign the four year, $275 million deal from the Milwaukee Bucks, right? Like, if they just said, we want to, like, call his bluff and you can get mad this year, you can be mad this summer, but when you offer you 270, 75 million, I think in October, you're going to sign it, and then we're all going to figure this out. My question would be to the Bucks. Why would you want to do this after everything you just did? Now, the simple answer is like, hey, it's Giannis. Of course we don't want to get rid of this guy. But if he signs that and you're like, ha, we called this bluff. We knew he'd sign the extension, what do you think is going to happen? Do you think he's just going to be happy and it's. And it's all going to work out. You're going to be doing this shit next year before the trade deadline and then in the off season again, because the team, most likely, in the best case scenario, is not going to be that good. Even the best version of Giannis, because of everything else around him and the limited resources, like, we already tried it. It's not a good basketball team. You know, it reminds me a bit of, like, the reaction of the. Well, it doesn't remind me. It just reminds me of the time, like, when the Miles Turner deal was done. I think we were too impressed by the creativity without being more critical of what the actual transaction was like. Here's a simple rule. If I ran a team or I owned a team, don't want to put a salary cap on your life, but prices are getting up there. It cost you $221 million to do the Miles Turner transaction, 113 million for Lillard, his remaining contract to be stretched for the next five years, and then to sign Miles Turner for 108 million. I think you should have a rule that if Miles Turner costs you $221 million, you should not bring in Miles Turner. I think it's a pretty simple rule, but because they really couldn't do anything, and Turner had just had a Finals run with the Indiana Pacers, even though he'd been in the trade market for, like, the longest time ever, he had a nice season. He's a nice fit in a basketball sense because he can stretch the floor as a five, which is, like, mandatory to have next to Giannis. And the Lillard thing didn't work because he wasn't ever healthy, doesn't play defense, and is probably better just being the star of a team and putting up 30 points without any expectations. Maybe that's why he went back to Portland. Although I do kind of sneaky like the Trailblazers again. So after you did the Turner deal to show that you were all in and all in in the only way that Milwaukee could be all in, because they didn't really have a ton of options here. Giannis still was like, cool, I'd like to play for the Knicks, though, if you were going to trade me. So why, after all of this drama and the disagreement at the end of the season, why would you want to resign him for four years and 275 million, knowing that you're just going to sign up for probably a more dam. Even more dramatic relationship with this franchise player? If you go back and look at the Drew and Dame deals, it's three first, it's four swaps so far, tracking the players that they've lost. In that, there's nothing that jumps out where you're like, oh, my God, I can't believe I missed out on this guy. And I think it's a little unfair to be like, well, I like the Drew Holiday deal, but I don't like the Dame one. Like, well, no, because one worked. One. One got you a title and the other one is going to lead to a tax loss that you're like, oh, yeah, that's still on the books, huh? That's going to happen for a bunch of years. There's even a theory that if you Giannis resigns, it's like, okay, but then we're going to have picks opening up and then we can trade those picks. Be like, you just did that. You just did that and it cost you 100 million to get rid of the guy, the second guy in Dame that you used limited resources on and bringing in the first place.
Kyle
Why?
Ryan Rosello
To show Giannis that you were all in. They paid $207 million. They will have paid $207 million for 131 games of Damian Lillard. By the way, I'd also just aside because there's some pretty crispy Bucks fans out there. Do you still think this is all bullshit? Do you still think it's just the national media waking up one day going, hey, let's fucking with the Milwaukee Bucks fans out there and make up a ton of stuff. Are you starting to believe that maybe your guy doesn't want to be there? And it's just kind of a massive pain in the ass to everyone making basketball decisions and for ownership and not that I'm even sticking up for them, but I don't know, I've seen a lot of stuff the last couple years like, oh, here we go again. Espn, G. Like, yeah, they're over there in building four. Just hq. Be like, what do you want to do today? Like, I don't know. What's the live rights package for Baseball. Baseball. So I don't know. Hey, should we have Van Pelt do something remote for college football playoffs? Yeah. Hey, I got an idea. Let's fuck with the Milwaukee Bucks for no reason. Done. Get on that. Put our best people on it. All right, so to close here. There's a bit of irony in this, though, on where the market is for Giannis, San Antonio and okc, I think it's pretty safe to say you can forget it. Why would they want to mess with what they have? Right. I don't think there's a playoff ending for either of those teams, especially with the way that they're run, that you go, all right, you know what? We might have to do this. Cleveland, who has to worry about Donovan Mitchell because his contract that was resigned, it was extended in 24. Remember how that one works? He. He's under contract next year for 26, 27, then he has a player option. So Cleveland has to use this off season and then maybe the trade deadline to prove to their guy and Donovan Mitchell that it's worth him sticking around because he's still young enough to have a pretty commanding market if he decides to bowl. So that's why, even though the extension was applauded by cast fans being like, see, the guy didn't want to leave. It's like, yeah, I think they're just going to be doing this thing all over again. Does Cleveland have to kind of pull a Milwaukee where it's like, do we have to give up? And Evan Mobley at Jared Allen and some other pieces where. Because I think there's a Mobley conversation where you probably live without him. He's a nice player. He's. He's not going to be, I think, the world changing player that some of us had hoped he was going to be early on his career. He's a really nice player. We'd all love an Evan Mobley on this on our team, but would there be a move for Cleveland like we proved to Mitchell by going after Giannis? Granted, going after Giannis is a little different than going after Miles Turner, but is there an equivalency of going after Giannis? Is it the same as going after Dame to prove to Giannis? Is there some sort of Minnesota deal where I'm continuously fascinated about something that has to happen in a couple years and maybe it'll happen sooner or the Timberwolves have to go, like, we're going to have to get really creative and, like, reconfigure this group around our star player on the fly as Some of these other players age out. And the problem is when you're dealing with a player that this special, you can't be like, here's the deal, bit of a reset for a year or two. But if you're just patient and we don't overpay or we don't throw our draft picks at the only available guy that's out there just to prove something to you, like, are you cool with that? The player's going to go, no, they're here. Just, we could report this now. Every special player is going to be cool with that. Never, never, ever times. They're just not going to be. You could even look at Durant and Houston. Like, if you've gone all in on Durant this way and he's 37, what if Houston's bounced in the first round? Does Houston have to kind of pull a dame here with a Giannis again? Feel much better about Giannis, the player where he's at as opposed to Dame at that time, where it's like, this might, might, might not make a ton of sense. I don't even know what Jabari Smith is worth. Like, you want to talk about maybe being disappointed in what the highest ceiling was for Evan Mobley? Like, Jabari Smith's a nice player, you're going to be excited. Milwaukee, you're excited about Tar Eason. You're probably not getting Amend Thompson, I would think you probably could get Shingoon in the right deal. Houston fans could tell me I'm wrong, but I think he's a spectacular player, super talented, but is a weird fit against other teams. I think he's kind of a matchup liability, even with all of his talent. I don't know if that'll change, but, like, this is the kind of stuff we're talking about. What you need to be doing is looking at the other teams that are trying to convince their guy they can fix it, the same way Milwaukee tried to convince Giannis they could fix it, which they have not been able to. A lot of times when I'm out and about, strangers will come up to me and be like, hey, Rosillo, how do you put your fits together? I'm like, look, I'm not always dialed into the latest trends, so it's challenging for me, too. That's why I've been so fired up to partner with Revolve. Man. You're not drowning in 10,000 results or 50 pages of product. When you're on the page, it's edited in a way that makes sense. Everything is styled so you can see how it works. Not just a product in a white background, but a whole outfit. It's not about one piece, it's about the full look. Revolve man shows you what goes with what so you're not guessing. With fast shipping and easy returns. Two day shipping is free and returns are simple. So even if you order a couple options for a trip or an event, it's genuinely stress free. I've been kind of monitoring this Y3 Mercedes Benz deal, but I don't know if they're going to have it in my size. I'll probably wear that to a Lakers game. There's also a cow pattern that I know I can't wear. Like it can't be my go to fall deal every Thursday and Friday. But a wedding, especially a country themed wedding, I'm your guy and Revolve's where I'm going to go to solve these problems. Whether it's a big night out, a wedding, a trip, or you just need something last minute that actually works. Revolve man always has it. Go to Revolve.com Resillo to shop and use code RESILLO for 15% off of your order. Free two day shipping, easy returns. It just makes everything easier. That's Revolve.com resillo r u s S I L L O and use code resillo for 15% off your entire order. The offer is going to end soon, so don't sleep on it. Couple thoughts on Mike Malone going to unc. This was a little surprising because usually I think whenever you talk to somebody that works in college and works in the pros, the guys that love the pro lifestyle hate recruiting so much. And I don't know anything about Malone in that respect of will he be totally into this or not? There's also a very predictable shift when programs have coaches that have like real special ties to the program. Like a Hubert Davis. You know, we're seeing it throughout college basketball all the time. St. John's brought my guy, Chris Mullen back, Patrick Ewing's head coach at Georgetown, to a lesser extent, Mark Pope back at Kentucky. Although you just don't have to go at 20 minutes down the street. You'd be like, hey, Shire's at Duke. And yeah, look, I think Shire's going to win a title and I know how disappointing these two losses have been in the tournament back to back years. But I think Shire's terrific and it's really working out there. But there's just, I don't know if it's the boosters or around the program where they are more excited about somebody that they saw wearing their uniform and there's some sort of emotional attachment to that person. Maybe there's way more leeway. I always kind of think of, like, when you bring back the alum to coach your program, it means that if it doesn't go well, you'll get four years instead of three years. These are all very obvious reasons. And you could already figure out all of this stuff, but when you do it and it doesn't work, then you're like, all right, fuck this. I'm going to do something totally different. And Mike Malone is totally different. I do wonder. He's young enough that it's not like you're bringing in a Belichick thing here to UNC where that would always, like, scare me. Like, I would never. If I were an ad, I'd be like, okay, let me, let me see here. Can I get somebody over 70 that was a legend? Like, maybe it works out Bill Walsh style, But at the same time, it's just like, I don't know, like, maybe this guy just is super afraid of not working anymore. And that's the number one priority than it is to have the energy and to, like, really come in here and put a flag down and fix all this stuff. Look, Belichick's only had a year. It was a disaster. We'll see. I have no idea how that's going to go, but with Malone, I, I worry about the professionalism of. The professionalism of, of working in the NBA and going like, all right, for the most part, even when you have younger players in some of these teams, which, you know is worth pointing out, you know, like, hey, show up and do your job. I'm going to show up and do my job. And in college basketball, it's just not what it is. Now, you could say with the portal that recruiting is not the way that it was. Okay, fine, you're not recruiting high school kids. That's maybe a little bit more annoying than recruiting a 20, 20, 21 year old. I don't know, is there really that much of a difference? Because your recruiting focuses aren't maybe in the traditional sense, the way you have to deal with high school people all the time, you have to do the same kind of recruiting, just in a different part of the supermarket now in the transfer portal. So you're still recruiting to get people to say yes to come to your program. It's just a different path. So this, this idea, because I've seen, I've seen it talked about a little bit. It's like, well, with the portal now, they can just get a bunch of boosters in there and they can just go ahead and load up on a bunch of different players. But the players still have to want to come there and play for you. And a lot of that is going to be determined by like how into you actually are. And I think for some people that go from pro to the college ranks, it's a wake up call and some people just don't like it. I have no idea if Malone will or won't like it. The Denver thing was both a tremendous success and a really odd divorce because I think when you see some of the players that he was reluctant to play, you're like, maybe Calvin Booth had a point on some of this stuff. So look, we'll see what happens. A very predictable baseball move of hey, you've got a players manager team doesn't do well. You bring in some guy that has red man in his mouth the entire time and just yells at everybody. Although I don't know if that happens as much anymore. But there's always this like when something is identifiable, like a Hubert Davis UNC guy bleeds that Tar Heel blue doesn't work. You're like, all right, let's do something completely different. And honestly, I have no idea if it's going to work out. Tastytrade has a suite of probability tools so you can make smarter picks for your portfolio. Is a registered broker, dealer and member of FINRA, NFA and SIPC. Before we get to life advice, little King of the court action for you. With Cerutty back at his headquarters, we've got Kyle with us as well. All right, Whose board is it?
Steve Ceruti
I don't know if it's anybody's board. The last one to win was you two weeks ago. You had Jokic. We went over three last week, which you know is fine. The standings are. Ryan's got four, Kyle's got two, and I've got two. So Ryan does have the leads. So why don't you start us off?
Ryan Rosello
Okay. I feel like Dallas listened to the last pod that I did on Rookie of the Year. Cause I was like, if Cooper can get 50 here to close the season, who knows? He gets 51 against Surdy's magic. And then up and down the. Up and down in a loss. He points out as if he said. He sort of said he gave up on the season. That doesn't sound like somebody that gave up.
Steve Ceruti
Franz is back.
Kyle
Can only push a man so far.
Ryan Rosello
I mean, if we've learned anything, I'm not going to not.
Steve Ceruti
It's not like I'm not rooting for the team. I just, like, I just. I want to protect myself from expectations and. But it's hard not to get excited. Like, I'm not going to be like, hey, it's the plan. I don't want to be the heat or something like that. You know, who knows?
Ryan Rosello
Yeah, but it is a very. Like, that was a Twitter response of a fan. You know, Like, I would sit there and watch a Stromile Swift dunk and then some Bulls fan would be like, oh, who won that game, though? You're like, sorry. Sorry for liking a dunk.
Kyle
Ah, dude. Sometimes I feel so good to say, though.
Ryan Rosello
Does it?
Kyle
Yeah, just scratching an itch.
Ryan Rosello
It should feel less good.
Steve Ceruti
All right, don't be a fan.
Ryan Rosello
All right. No, just don't be like there's no, I don't know, like a Caleb Williams throw. Oh, yeah. Where'd he. How's the playoffs end up? Sorry, sorry. I like to throw. Cooper flag. Yeah. Putting up some points. 51 and 45. Little worried. Clippers are like 11 and a half point favorites tonight. Little worried. Maybe defensive assignment if they sit Kawhi on them for a little bit. Looked at the injury report, looks like Kawhi's good to go. So enter at your own risk with that one. But I do think Cooper's going to get 30 shots because they want him to win Rookie of the year.
Steve Ceruti
That is fair. Well, we were talking about this before the show. Kyle and I were just going to go head to head tonight. And may the best man win.
Kyle
So funny. It's kind of like a race when we do these things. It's like, who answers first? Like, that's really the only rules we have. And he just said it as we
Ryan Rosello
got on the call, and I'm like,
Steve Ceruti
oh, I usually lay out for the record. I'm usually the last person to put my bet in. I usually let you guys pick first. But I do like Jason Tatum tonight.
Ryan Rosello
He's such a. Such a hero.
Steve Ceruti
Well, you know, some of us are thoughtful, you know, and want to let other people succeed. You know, I'm happy to see my friends win, so it's okay. One win is the win for everybody.
Kyle
You know, it really is good to have you back.
Steve Ceruti
There's no egos.
Ryan Rosello
I think he sent us the standings chart in the alliance because he was in first. Kyle, to the text thread.
Steve Ceruti
So that's not what happened. Kyle's in first. Kyle's been in first for a while.
Kyle
The gap is closing.
Steve Ceruti
But I sent it to you because I was not going to be there, and I was just trying to be helpful.
Kyle
That's another point.
Ryan Rosello
It's like massive L for me on that one.
Steve Ceruti
I want for this front street.
Ryan Rosello
There you go.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah. Anyway. Yeah, go ahead, Kyle.
Kyle
You're Tatum. I wanted Brown anyway, and at first I was like, oh, why are we doing this? But, I mean, somebody's got a.
Ryan Rosello
There's a.
Kyle
There's a chance that one of us is right, so there's really no reason for me not to take Jalen Brown.
Ryan Rosello
So that's what I'm doing.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah, I want Tatum because he's been lighting it up lately, and. And they're playing the Hornets. There's probably gonna be a lot of scoring in that game. I mean, what was it like a week ago? He had 18 rebounds. He had triple double with 18 rebounds, 11 assists, 25.
Ryan Rosello
This rebounding stuff is nuts right now,
Steve Ceruti
so I'm happy to take Tatum. Only one of us could win, so it doesn't really matter. So we're gonna go head to head here a little bit. But again, a win for the POD is a win for everybody. So I. If Brown wins it, great. Happy for you.
Ryan Rosello
He's averaging 24, 14, and nine in three games in March right now. Yeah. 46, 37 shooting. Splits. Look out east.
Steve Ceruti
Yep.
Ryan Rosello
All right, let's get to life advice. You want details?
Kyle
Bye. I drive a Ferrari 355 Cabriolet. What's up?
Steve Ceruti
I have a ridiculous house in the South Fork.
Ryan Rosello
I have every.
Kyle
Every toy you can possibly imagine.
Ryan Rosello
And best of all, kids, I am liquid.
Kyle
So now you know what's possible. Let me tell you what's required.
Ryan Rosello
Lifeadvicermail.com that is the email. It's good to have Ceruti back. I think he balances out a little bit.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah man, it was a tough scene for 36 hours. We were.
Kyle
How bad was.
Steve Ceruti
I was talking to my wife last night. I was like this is the worst case scenario, right? Like I don't think we can ever, it could ever be worse than this. We, we were going to see the in laws in the Bay area. We left Wednesday. Flight was good. We got a one year old, she turns one tomorrow actually to her thank you shout out to Hallie and a three year old and they were really good on the way there and everything went well there. Like the sleeping arrangements were fine, everyone was happy, yada yada. And on the way home we're flying from SFO to Dallas. We have a connection and that flight gets delayed two hours. They didn't really tell us anything for a while. So we're just sitting in the airport wondering what the heck's going on. We're like, okay, we're clearly going to miss connection. You know, kids are like, hey, we're running out of movies to watch. Like we got. We only have so many magnetiles to play with. We're hungry, we're tired. So they got us to Dallas. We did fly to Dallas but we basically had to spend 24 hours in Dallas and actually in Irving, Texas. So that was, that was a super fun time with, with two kids, three and one. And it's kind of like a weird voucher thing because like we got $12 for meals which is like $12 feels like not a lot of money. Especially with two kids.
Kyle
Why don't you just give me the middle finger?
Ryan Rosello
Yeah. Yeah.
Steve Ceruti
I was like. And then they wouldn't get us. Yeah, I'm not going to name the airline, whatever, whatever it is what it is. But they, you know, I'll get big cat on that. He's usually.
Kyle
Yeah, we're at a place that totally promotes that.
Ryan Rosello
So.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah, but they wouldn't, they like wouldn't give us our bags back. At first I'm like, dude, we've got like life essential stuff in there that we do need for, for a one year old child. Like do you not understand this? And it's always kind of weird because like you're, you don't want to yell at the, the people just working the jobs because it's not really their fault, it's the bigger system's fault. But you got to kind of take your anger out on somebody. And I lost it a few different, different times. And you guys know I'm pretty, pretty even keeled. But like, I, you know, there's only so many times when, like my kids throwing a bagel on the floor and you just are like, all right, I'm just. I've lost the will to live at this point. But we did make it back at 2am last night and slept in a little bit today, so. That was nice.
Ryan Rosello
Nice.
Kyle
Yeah, I could see it, man. Your beard looks more fuller like, like you were out in the elements or something. You know, you just look like you've been. You've been through a little bit.
Steve Ceruti
So good to have you back there. Haven't really shaved, haven't really showered, but thank you. I'm weathered, so that's fun.
Kyle
Yeah, that's the word I was looking for. Exactly the word I was looking for.
Steve Ceruti
But yeah, I was like, I don't think, like, what other traveling nightmare could possibly. What could be. I mean, I guess one of us could be sick like that. What other situation?
Kyle
I'm sure we'll have some emails if you really want it.
Steve Ceruti
Right?
Kyle
Right.
Steve Ceruti
But I mean, I don't know, man. It was 24 hours. Went to a Jack in the box. Hadn't been there in a while. There wasn't a lot of options in Irving, Texas.
Kyle
Big Jack.
Ryan Rosello
Could have been worse. What if you just went to your wife, like, I'm going out tonight.
Steve Ceruti
Well, I said to her, I was like, if this was just you and I, this would have been fun. We could have like gone to Dallas, went to hang out, you know, done our thing for 24 hours on the, on the airline's dime. But instead we're hanging out in a Marriott in Irving, trying to figure out why the WI fi doesn't work and all these different things are going on. Two kids.
Ryan Rosello
Good times. The kid. And the guy was still trying to get on the call yesterday too, so I was.
Steve Ceruti
The Internet workout. Yeah. So.
Ryan Rosello
I know. So good to see you too. All right, so here we go. I don't know if we read this guy's email. Do you remember anything about bird poop on a mailbox? And then he says he wrote in. So I don't know if we read it or not, but here's a follow up, but it continues. 6, 3, 2, 25. No impressive gym stats. I wrote in a year ago about my neighbor's 19 year old daughter anonymously ripping bird deterrent spikes off my mailbox and taping a Note to my mailbox calling it animal abuse and shame on you. After I caught her on the doorbell cam and asked her dad about it, I received several lengthy texts and screenshots from Reddit for alternative bird deterrence. Nowhere in her text was an apology only justification. She also mentioned the spikes injured her. We got a live one here.
Kyle
She was destroying them.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah, I think that's your fault. Okay, good.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah. Due to her claiming an injury, I filed a police report.
Kyle
We are escalating this thing.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah, I spoke with an officer. I told him I didn't want to press charges and wanted to do it more as a report only due to her alleging an injury. The officer asked if I could call her and I said sure. Not 10 minutes later, she calls me screaming, saying stuff like, quote, this isn't how adults act. To highlight her immaturity, I asked her how many adults anonymously damaged their neighbor's property. Her response? It wasn't anonymous. You caught me on your camera. I don't even know if I want to get involved in this. Fast forward. Her mom, 19. 19.
Kyle
Old enough to know better.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah, that's. She sucks. We'll just start there.
Ryan Rosello
I'll just say, like, to the younger people listening, you may have a cause right now, but it usually just means you have free time. All right, fast forward. Her mom brings a handwritten note to my door by her apologizing. I dropped it. After that, I didn't reinstall the spikes and even scrape the silicone. I used to secure the spikes off my mailbox. For those bird lovers listening, I called my state's wildlife commission asking for recommendations before installing the spikes. I'll tell you right now, this guy's putting his tax dollars to use.
Kyle
Yeah, we're getting a bunch of different agencies in on this.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah, getting the blower just like, hey, their recommendation quote, spikes. The more the better. They don't hurt them. Has anyone reached to the birds for comments on that?
Kyle
I think there's a difference in spikes here. Like some of them are, you know, they're sort of just like infrastructure that makes it not worth it. But there's some that are look like you're straight up fucking porcupines, you know, So I could see maybe there's a bit of a difference.
Steve Ceruti
Let's sell like thorns.
Ryan Rosello
Why are all the ravens dead? You see that guy's 60 foot prestige. Go ahead, Suri.
Steve Ceruti
I'll say this is how, like nature works. Like thorn bushes. There's a reason they're there. So birds and things land on them.
Kyle
Really Great.
Steve Ceruti
This is just how life works. They'll figure it out. Don't land on that mailbox.
Kyle
Darwinism.
Ryan Rosello
This is where I need some advice. It's now spring again and my mailbox is the shitter for all birds around. I want to reinstall the plastic spikes. My wife doesn't want me to because she doesn't want to deal with neighbors. What do I do? Some photos below. One of her note in one of my mailbox the other day. This is one day of poop as it rained all day and cleaned the mailbox. Love the show.
Kyle
It's peppered.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah. I mean this is a dusting.
Kyle
It's unfortunate because you said 19, she's now 20. She's probably got a. We might be talking about a bleeding heart college student here. Right. She's probably going to be back summers for the next couple of years. So you would be probably opening yourself with housing.
Ryan Rosello
Housing prices.
Kyle
So you probably would be opening yourself up to whatever this is now. But I don't know. You're fuck. Yeah. The plastic spikes. Do it.
Steve Ceruti
Do it.
Kyle
I say do it.
Steve Ceruti
You absolutely have to put the spikes back on. This is like a. This is like a. This is your property. You are in the right. And she sucks. So I, I think like you have every right. There's no way you can cower to this and just be like actually no. I mean your wife might not understand it. She might not be non confrontational. I'm sort of non confrontational at times like this. But if this like you are so clearly correct in this situation that you can't back down now, especially to a 19 year old. Has nothing going on.
Ryan Rosello
Here's the note leaning left on. Isn't there some study like if you, if your handwriting leans left, leans right. I don't know. Thought there was something. Maybe I'll my spare time. I'll look that up. It means what animal abuse is in cute. That's in black marker. In red marker parentheses. It's actually a legal smiley face. Would you rather have bird poop? Back to the black marker. Would you rather have bird poop on your mailbox or a dead bird next to it? Shame on you. P.S. there's still poop on it. Ineffective and abusive. Awesome. Tough hang left.
Kyle
Slanted handwriting often signifies introverted, reserved or self reliant. Personality is what I got here.
Ryan Rosello
More annoying.
Kyle
That's at the AI Google that sounds
Ryan Rosello
or annoying
Steve Ceruti
this to me is. You know they're pro spikes. Yeah.
Kyle
I'm pro freedom is really what I am. So I think that's what I'm really trying to say here. That does encompass that a little bit, but I think just the nastiness of the message itself. It's just this isn't a way people get solved problems. And maybe some people. Maybe, like, there's that skit with the guy from Richard Jewell who was like, on the plane, and the mom's like, hey, you think just for the landing, we could. You know, my daughter really likes to see the. Really likes to see the. You know, that. The vista as we land. And he's like, oh, I. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't, because I think it's more important that your daughter needs to know this isn't how the world works. It's a funny skit, but I just think, like, this is exactly the way I feel about it. I mean, I'm not dug in on the spikes.
Ryan Rosello
I've dug in on the principle. Is there a way to buy, like, an AOC mailbox? Buy an AOC mailbox. And then you put the spikes on, and then she comes out, and you're like, we can't have the birds pooping on her.
Steve Ceruti
Oh, God, you could do that.
Ryan Rosello
She might be like, now. Now I'm on your side.
Kyle
I think it's just. I think it's important to have the spikes ready. And like we said, they're plastic. I feel better about the fact they're plastic spikes and they're not those crazy, like, skewering ones that you see on, like, city infrastructure. And, yeah, it's not, like, have your retorts ready. Like, I thought we may have learned now that we're all a year older, I thought maybe we learned how to deal with people a little better. I guess not.
Ryan Rosello
This is gonna be.
Kyle
This could be a usable moment.
Steve Ceruti
You can tell her to call the wildlife person that you called to have them explain it to her. Be like, it's ide. Like, give them. Give her the phone number. Be like, I did. I called. I did my homework.
Ryan Rosello
Maybe you go together. Maybe you go in person together, make a lunch
Steve Ceruti
kind of person you want to hang out with. Maybe, man.
Kyle
Did you guys watch this? The HBO show Neighbors? Have you seen this? I think it might be a max HBO thing, But it is like, an hbo. It's on hbo. I think it's under the HBO umbrella.
Steve Ceruti
Not to be absolutely a friend movie.
Kyle
No, no. This is a. This is a show about real neighbors who, like, it was only six episodes, but, my God, they have got some really, really interesting quarrels in there. So I just want to throw that out there.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah. Look, she's gonna have to learn that things don't always go your way, man. If, if that's up to you. I don't know about the spikes thing. I, I just. If the wildlife people said it doesn't hurt them but like that's the case. Yeah. I guess I just am still wondering though, like a bird's never kind of plopped down on one of those and gone, ah, like never. That's never happened. Or do they just visually realize, hey, this isn't a good spot for me.
Kyle
Maybe the first, first one. First plow in the spring maybe. But then you learn.
Steve Ceruti
I don't know.
Ryan Rosello
Is there a color you can paint the mailbox? That's a bird deterrent color. I see these things. I don't know.
Kyle
That's two birds, one stone. No pun intended.
Ryan Rosello
I hear what you're saying. Perfect. All right. Girlfriend overestimates my Tucker Carlson impression. This one is tad more specific than some of the other ones. Hey honey, do your impression. Do it. Yeah, you do exactly what this is.
Kyle
Do it.
Ryan Rosello
6, 3, 2, 20. 29 year old should be 205 but working on it. I don't max but I'll rep out some 155 in the bench. Prioritizing dumbbells Recently a lot of older guys will tell you dumbbells are just where it's at. But you're only 29. So what I would do in a 29 year old body again. My God. All right, moving on. I just had a moment there. Play style is cat tall enough that I should spend more time in the paint. But I detest my youth coaches who wouldn't let me shoot. So now all I do is shoot threes. Shout out to everyone else who grew early and was forced to play in the post by their coaches. I know. I see you Underville guys out there all the time. It sucks. Straightforward one here. My girlfriend thinks I have a good Tucker Carlson impression, but I don't. On multiple occasions she's asked me to quote, do my Tucker strangers for people in a social setting and it's never gets a pop from the crowd. It is not a good impression. Everyone just kind of blankly looks at me other than her because she thinks it's good. I told her to stop teeing me up here because I know the impression is bad, but I don't want to shoot her down publicly. Should I just learn to do the impression?
Kyle
Well, no, I think that's not the answer.
Ryan Rosello
I kind of love that answer. He's just working on it, putting in the hours.
Kyle
Well, there's levels to it as well, right? I mean, are you going to incorporate that fucking insane laugh that he sometimes does? And if you don't nail that, it's just like, you have to fucking find a way to leave the. The party. It's so bad. It's very specific, and I think it's one of those ones that I would not want to be. Would not but want to be pigeonholed into. Into doing time after time. Can you flip something with her? Like, can you have the same circumstances? Like, oh, man, you do such a great Liza Minnelli show him. And, like, now she. Now the shoes on the other foot.
Ryan Rosello
She understands your girlfriend to do a great Liza Minnelli first.
Kyle
No, but that's the point. I think we're just putting the shoe on the other foot here. Maybe she just hasn't walked a mile in those shoes of, like, you know, it's probably start sweating. You start getting hot. You're like, oh, come on. Are you serious?
Steve Ceruti
Do you do other impressions, like, or do you just do the Tucker Carlson?
Ryan Rosello
Because I will start.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah, Like, I. It's just an oddly specific thing that she thinks that you're good at, which you don't even think you are. I would say, like, there really isn't an impression of anyone. Like, I'll start by saying this.
Ryan Rosello
Wait, I thought this was. I thought Controversial.
Steve Ceruti
No, no, no, it's not at all. But I thought this was going to be, like, hey, I don't want to do Tucker Carlson impressions in front of strangers because they're going to think I align a certain way. Whereas, like, me, I. A good impression of literally anyone I will find funny. It doesn't really matter to me. There's no, like, political thing about it. Like, I don't care. Give me a Biden, give me a Trump, give me a whatever. Like, have you ever seen that video? A good Belichick, right? What's the. There's. There's a girl I saw on Instagram doing, like, Claire Danes impressions from that show the Beast in Me. And dude, it was. It's so good. She's, like, better than Claire Danes herself. It's unbelievable. So I am all in for impressions, but it sounds. He's just not. He doesn't think he's good enough. So that actually, I think, changes the equation.
Kyle
He knows, like, that enough.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah.
Kyle
Nobody even gave him a sympathy. So.
Steve Ceruti
So you're not embarrassed by it? She's not embarrassed by it. Like, yeah. Maybe just get better at it. Like, maybe just work on your craft.
Ryan Rosello
I don't know.
Steve Ceruti
Like, this is something that she wants to be. She's proud of you. She's proud of you about this. So, like, I don't know. I guess try to hone your craft a little bit. Or, like, is there another impression you could do to get you off the Tucker Carlson one? Do you do other things? That's why I asked. You do other things.
Ryan Rosello
This is. I mean, I love what you're doing, but if this guy's listening right now in the car, he's like. We're reading his email and he's going, are you serious? You guys are telling me to, like, commit? Spend time in front of the mirror. 30 minutes. Hey, what's going on? You done with the shower? Yeah. Just tighten it up a bit here. I don't think I've ever. I've seen people do Tucker. I've never even, like, thought of it. I. I don't have that many impressions. There's one guy, like, Port. I don't know if you guys remember him. Used to be gm, the Red Sox before.
Kyle
No.
Ryan Rosello
Theo. Esther. I'm sorry, I don't. Yeah, I won't break that one out. I mean, that's a pretty specific crowd. The Belichick one just comes and goes. But I don't even know if it's. It's not really even that good. Van Pelt's unbelievable.
Kyle
It's more of the cadence than the actual, you know, sound I think that you got.
Ryan Rosello
I just love when, like, his draft record absolutely sucked as bad as it could suck. And somebody finally was like, hey, what's up with the draft record? He was so offended. He's like, some pretty good ones in there, too. And you were like, dude, Dante Hightower.
Steve Ceruti
Ever heard of.
Ryan Rosello
You can't. You can't even, like, go. Yeah. This is unbelievable how bad. I've been here in the draft for this long. That's a different segment. Kyle, do you have any impersonations you can do?
Kyle
Nothing that, like, jumps to mind. I don't think there were some people we all knew in college that maybe I could do. No, there are some people we knew in college that my buddies would maybe be like, oh, yeah, that's special to us. But, yeah, I don't think there's anyone.
Ryan Rosello
No, I don't think there's anyone. You should be able to do a good Nick Palahniuk, but that's, again, a very specific group.
Steve Ceruti
You had a good Mad Dog.
Kyle
Yep.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah.
Kyle
Good toss.
Steve Ceruti
But that's not that. I mean, I can't do it well, but that's kind of an easy one. You just sort of like get loud and talk in a high pitched voice.
Ryan Rosello
Maybe that's Rudy's original point. The next time you do the Tucker thing, you start bringing up the kind of stuff politically you don't bring up in front of other people.
Kyle
Just full character.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah.
Steve Ceruti
You just go all in. You don't just have general, general conversation.
Ryan Rosello
Interesting. Just like, like what, what are you doing?
Kyle
You know, so mortify her to maybe never do this again.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah, but he's also.
Ryan Rosello
I'm trying to think of like I can't do a Tucker. So that was really bad. But then I'm also trying to think of like some vague reference where I'm not now then also being offensive. Trying to be offensive. Tucker. Carl. It's an impersonation. Awkward pause.
Kyle
You know what I think, Stanley from the office I can do, but I'm not going to do it here.
Ryan Rosello
Whoa. Yeah, you are. No, I'm not. Can't make me. No, I guess I'm just telling you
Kyle
I'm just grunting through in my head and that's one of the ones I think I might be able to do.
Ryan Rosello
What would he say?
Kyle
Well, I mean you could choose a bunch of things like the big fight with Michael Scott where he's like, did I stutter? You know, you're not a serious person. One of those things. That's a good one. But see, you're trying to get me to do it. I'm not going to, I'm not going to do it.
Ryan Rosello
I thought you were going to get
Kyle
there maybe this summer when it's slower. I'm going to work on it now. Now that I said I am pretty confident but now that I'm saying it in front of you guys, I think I'm going to check it out before I ever let it rip.
Steve Ceruti
Should we just do impression day on the show or reach come one day and we don't tell the other people what it is.
Kyle
That's funny. Like dictionary, but
Ryan Rosello
for impressions. Bring Nate Bargazzi back for that one.
Steve Ceruti
Because if you started doing Stan Lee, I don't know that I would, I don't know that I'd get it. It would take me a bit. I'd have to. I don't know, there's some George Bush clips.
Kyle
Maybe the, the, the younger.
Ryan Rosello
Maybe.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah, listen, now watch this drive is. See that's the thing I could do like, you know, like one liners but until I do a. Yeah, I could do. I can't do that.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah. I do think it's true that Van Pelt went on Hawaii radio and said he was Lou Holtz the whole time. Him did the whole segment. That's funny because somebody on that end, like, knew he could do it and like, hey, these guys are going to call you. I told him you were Lou Holtz. I don't know if that's. I think I've referenced it before. I know I have at this point, running out of stories. But we got to ask him about that because I think he did the whole phoner and they were just psyched to have Lou Holtz and they didn't have them. Yeah.
Kyle
Bummer.
Ryan Rosello
I'm kind of bummed we didn't get a little Stanley, to be honest with you. But I'm not going to press it.
Kyle
Thank you.
Ryan Rosello
I mean, look, you're a man. Free will.
Steve Ceruti
Yeah. Place in freedom.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah. Do whatever you want.
Kyle
Established.
Ryan Rosello
Okay. That is the show. We are done. Tom, Kevin, Steven, and Kyle, thanks for your work today.
Steve Ceruti
Don't love that Steve.
Ryan Rosello
You don't like Steven, huh?
Kyle
Doesn't like Steve. Doesn't Steven. Doesn't like Roots. I mean, the list.
Steve Ceruti
Steve is fine. Steven's like a.
Ryan Rosello
Roots is the worst.
Steve Ceruti
It's not my favorite.
Ryan Rosello
It's just terrible. Yep.
Steve Ceruti
Nice, Brini. Appreciate that.
Kyle
Thinking about him saying it is funny, too.
Steve Ceruti
He thought he was cooking, too.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah. Definitely thought he was cooking that one. And it's just such a brave move. Like, have you ever heard anyone call Steve Ceruti Roots?
Steve Ceruti
I do have a lot of nicknames. Greeny to his. I don't know if this is his credit or not. We had a social guy back in the day whose name was Nick, and he just called him Nate. Just called him Nate on purpose all the time. Then he started calling him Nick Nate because he was like, I don't even know which one the real one is.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah, it's pretty good. Good, dude.
Steve Ceruti
I love Greeny, by the way, so that's fine.
Ryan Rosello
Yeah, I think we all like Greeny, but it's an aggressive move. Nick Nate, did he ever talk to you one on one about it? Did he ever say, like, I'm trying to get this to stick?
Steve Ceruti
No, no. It just kind of happened. I think it was like, the first time that I. Because they would have me on every
Ryan Rosello
once in a while.
Steve Ceruti
You know, you read a couple things, you ask some questions on air, which is cool. And I think that was just. That was the first he Tried it out.
Kyle
That was the intro in his head. He loved it.
Steve Ceruti
And that was it. Yeah. Yeah. Because, like, Gold never called me that.
Ryan Rosello
I remember not liking it because you had been on with us, and then you and I talked about you going to Mike, and Mike, I was like, you kind of have to do it. I know it's gonna suck. And then I think somebody who was on my show would be like, you hear what granny did at Cerutty today? Yeah. I was like, what?
Steve Ceruti
They're like.
Ryan Rosello
You call them roots. And I was like, I needed, like, five minutes by myself. Like, I'm like, I don't. I don't like this.
Steve Ceruti
You got to rescue him. You did. I was rescued eventually, yeah. It was a year. It was a time.
Ryan Rosello
It's like, I go talk to him. Our offices are right next to each other.
Steve Ceruti
Can't do that to my guy.
Ryan Rosello
You take a quick five here. Just not going to work. I'll tell you what Greenie would never do with me is go to Europe, just the two of us. I don't know that I would go with him, but you get to go to Europe with me tomorrow because the Portugal travel pod is going to release tomorrow. They said, hey, maybe we'll run it this summer. I said, absolutely not. And with the scattering of how this week is working out and the fact that everything's about to ramp up here pretty quickly, I don't know that there's a good window for it. So we're giving it to you now. So Portugal, I think it's like, two and a half hours. Buckle up. That's the end of the show. Brian Rosilla Show Barstool Sports. Please subscribe.
