I am so excited to try something new here on the Sage Deal show and excited to do it with a friend of mine, someone who I respect more than I can even say. If you don't know him well, you're about to get to know him a little bit right now. His name is Bear Hanlon. He is the CEO and co founder of Born Primitive and most importantly, a former U.S. navy SEAL. Lieutenant Bear, hello. Where are you coming to me from?
B (0:23)
Coming in from Virginia beach, home in.
A (0:25)
Virginia beach with that amazing set behind you for Born Primitive. We're going to talk more about your brand in a little bit, but I'm so grateful you're on because of what you continue to do. Your passion now is helping veterans. Yes, you're a vet yourself, but there are thousands out there that you have been helping and I want people to know your story. But right now, as Veterans Day approaches, tell me what you've got cooking.

Yeah. So as of the time this airs for the next five days, ending on Veterans Day, which is two Tuesday, we're going to pledge 100 of our company profits along with Black Rifle Coffee from their website. We're going to try to pay off $25 million in veteran medical bills by midnight on Tuesday night. So this is a sequel of what we did last year. Last year we did a similar campaign just Born Primitive, something that I came came up with. And we ended up paying off $11 million in veteran medical bills. Last year. The goal was to do five. And this was just some wild idea. We said, let's see what happens. Let's see if we can get momentum behind this. So we pledged, you know, that was a four day period. We pledge all the profits. But I was fortunate to have people like you talking about it. I got to go on Fox News and, you know, a bunch of people were, you know, supporting the cause but also sharing it. And it just took on a life of its own. So I remember we came into work the next day after the dust settled. We were like, hey, we need to more than double this because we got such a strong response. So as soon as that concluded, I was like, hey, how do we make this bigger? So I called up Black Rifle, Black Rifle Coffee and I said, hey, will you guys go in on this with us? And they said, hell yeah, let's do it. So we're going to rerun it and we're going to hope to hit that goal. You know, I think when the dust settles, it'll probably be north of, you know, probably 12 to 15,000 veterans will be debt free by Christmas, which is incredible. And we've actually already done five of the 25. We did that in July with Black Rifle Coffee. And the reason we wanted to do that is we wanted there to be some recipients that got the good news before Veterans Day and helped to tell their story. So one of the individuals on the list, this was a wild story. Gold star spouse, army veteran herself. Her husband was killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb, and she got in a horrific car accident. They have two kids. Well, her bill was $341,000. So Matt best and I from Black Rifle Coffee, decided to get on an airplane, fly out to Denver and surprise her and hand deliver her the letter, letting her know that we had paid off the bill. And full.
