Off air. You were telling us that your husband is like, it's like having two mothers to your kids. And, and I relate to that with Michael. Tell, tell us about that.

Yeah, so he's very hands on, especially when they were babies. Like he would, he would do the shower, he would change the diapers. And a lot of the men though, they, they don't do that. Like I know some dads that have never changed their kids diaper before, but Gianni's so hands on, dresses them, does whatever if I'm sick, he'll take care of everything. Yeah, he's, he's a great dad.

And you guys have been married for 10 years.

So you skipped the 10 year anniversary you missed. That's like a big, that's a big one.

Yeah, we just like went out and had martinis. We didn't do anything crazy. But we promised ourselves that we were gonna go to AC for the night in Lenox City. Okay. And like just go and gamble and like have a night. Never did it.

[Michael Bostic]

Because kids, when you go out, does everyone come up to you when you're, when you're in Jersey?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Not really. I mean my town, I just feel like. So I moved to where my husband lives so everyone knows Gianni and it's basically all of his friends and family. So when I go like to Trader Joe's cvs, I just feel normal because everyone knows I live there. I've lived there for 10 years now.

So what's the secret to staying married for almost 11 years?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I don't know.

Well, how do you guys keep it sexy?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, even though we don't go on dates as much as I would like us to, and like trips, we do have, have like our movie nights.

Okay.

So like we get the kids to bed and we have a spare room we go in the spare room and we'll have wine, or he'll make martinis and, like, snack boards, like, charcuterie boards. And we'll just watch movies all night. That's nice. Yeah. So you don't actually have to go out. Which I would honestly like to go out once in a while just to dress up and. Because he needs to recognize, like, I'm still pretty.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Like, at home, I look homeless. Yeah.

[Michael Bostic]

But, you know, I always.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

No makeup, baggy clothes.

It's okay to do that trick. It's a party trick. Like, what I like to do is get as ugly as possible in the house.

Yeah.

And then, like, I'll get really dressed up to the point where it's like, he doesn't even recognize me. And then you just remind him.

Yeah. He's like, damn, she's hot. I forgot.

I do that, too all the time. I love to, like. I love to, like, take it to the edge of ugliness and then, like, totally give you whiplash.

Well, sometimes I even, like. We'll take walks in the neighborhood sometimes, and I'll be like, hey, we need to maybe, like, get a little bit dressed. You know what I mean? Like, the neighbors are looking.

Yeah.

Like, wearing a muumu with, like, socks with. It's.

Oh, same. Yeah, yeah. Socks and slippers or sandals. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

But it's like. It's like, almost like, borderline. Like. Like, you're not dressed for public occasions, if that makes sense.

No, you should see me at school. Pickup.

What do you look like at school?

Pickup. Socks, sandals, or slippers, oversized sweatshirt, leggings, hair up in a bun.

That's, like, normal, though. Yeah.

And then some moms come like this, sweetie. I'm like, oh, my God. Like, how do you do that?

I have a girlfriend that told me that she has a shirt. She has a shirt in, like, five different colors. It's a really nice shirt. And she says she'll look absolutely horrible. And then she'll go and grab one of the shirts in different colors for different days of the week, put it on, put sunglasses on, carry a beautiful bag, and walk in. Like, she's all put together and goes home and then just rips it all off.

Oh, so maybe that's what this girl does.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

She's always dressed to the nine. Like, heels. Like, I admire her for doing that.

It's a lot of work.

I don't have the energy, nor do I care. I don't care.

I wish I cared more, but I don't.

Yeah. So I'm tired. You want me to care? He's always. Michael is actually the mom at school. You're not a mom, but you are always put together. He's dialed in all the time.

Us, we have to get our hair done. We have a lot of hair. Put some sort of makeup on. Nice outfit. It's a lot.

Before you became famous, did you know that you were gonna be famous when you were little?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I wanted to. I always said I wanted to be a reality star because I was so obsessed with, like, the challenge and Road Rules and all, like, the MTV shows. So I was like, I really wanna be on MTV one day and, like, be a reality star.

[Michael Bostic]

So how does the tryouts come for Jersey Shore?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well. Well, I did a show previously called Is She Really Going out with Him?

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

And it was just like, see if I liked reality. It was like one episode, one day of filming, like, nothing crazy. I was like, oh, I loved it. That's so cool. But then I was, like, sending my tapes in for Real World, like, doing, like, the whole, like, audition tape and sending it in. I sent, I think, three in. They never call me back. So I was like, okay, that's not the show for me, even though I really want it to be on Real World. So then I was on MySpace or Facebook, one of those, and I saw an audition for Guidos and Guidettes. And I'm like, oh. Because that was literally, like, my lifestyle. Like, I loved tanning. I had the poof. I loved house music. It was just like, all the things. So I was like, oh, my God, this is, like, literally the show I'm supposed to be on. So I went to the audition, and then that was.

[Michael Bostic]

That when you went.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

It was like. It was meant to be. It was weird.

[Michael Bostic]

Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. No, that was.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

This was my calling.

[Lauryn Evarts]

But when you walk in, I mean, just because you were so good, I think. Did they just meet you one time and you're like, we found her. Keep having to go back?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

No, they said I was on, like, the top 10 list. And there was, like, a ton of people that tried out, but you had to go through, like, a ton of interviews.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Okay.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

So the first interview I went to, it was, like, in a dungeon at a dive. Bar, like in the basement. So I'm like, is this like a porno? Like, what is this? I felt really weird about it. Cause it was literally in the basement in a dungeon. But I walked in, I had like fishnets on, leopard dress, fur coat, like, trying to be really Jersey. And I did like four shots in the car. Cause my friend drove me and I was like, let's do this. So I did my first interview drunk.

[Michael Bostic]

So did you know you had a strat, Like a strategy to get on? Cause you say you dress up. Like, it's like, extra, extra, extra. You're having your shots.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, yeah, I wanted to stand out. I wanted to stand out and be like the most. So I did like the most with my outfit. The most with, like, my makeup, my hair. I did four shots. So, like, I'd be more loud and fun.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Like, four shots in a short. Like just like in the car in a short period of time.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I put Southern Comfort in a water bottle and I just went, whoa. You know, back in the day, we used to drink. We just put alcohol in the water bottle.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Southern Comfort is a heavy.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I don't know how I drank that. I drank that all season one. It was Southern Comfort and Long Islands. That was my drink.

[Michael Bostic]

I drank that too. You drink it. I think you used to drink it with like.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I smell it. Now I can't even do brown liquor. I'll die.

[Michael Bostic]

Southern Comfort is so gnarly trash. And then I'd be like, what's the one with the higher percentage? Give me that one.

[Lauryn Evarts]

No, there was that moment where it was like. It was like Captain Morgan Rum, Southern Comfort.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

It was all. We used to drink the brown liquor.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Yeah.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah. That is really, like, why did we do that?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I can't do that anymore. The last time I took a shot of brown liquor, I was throwing up all the next day.

[Michael Bostic]

It's like, also, I used to drink, like, hypnotic and like, Smirnoff Apple.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Do you ever have a gold Sagar with the gold flakes in it?

[Lauryn Evarts]

Oh, my God.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Or Loco?

[Michael Bostic]

No. What's the one that has like a ton.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Everclear? Woo. Oh, yeah. That was horrible.

[Lauryn Evarts]

I had a buddy, his big thing was peppermint schnapps. And you would drink with him all the time. And then like, he would go. And then you're like, oh, well, let's switch to this drink. And he somehow, like, had built an immunity to it or something.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Oh, my God.

[Lauryn Evarts]

I was throwing up for days with that stuff. That's like similar to Goldschlager. Like that stuff?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Ugh.

[Michael Bostic]

So when do you find out that you get the show? Where are you? What's the vibe? Like, were you freaking out?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

So I think they called me, and they were like, we have to come to your house to film and then just pack. Like, you're going to go film for a month, and we're going to come pick you up, but we're going to be filming it. So I'm like, oh, like, am I on the show? And they were like, we don't know yet. So I guess they. They did what they did to me to, like, 20 other people, and they were only picking eight. So they basically came to my house, and I did the whole, like, bye, mom. I'm going down the shore. Packing, Drove down the shore, and then they put us in hotel rooms with no cell phone. We were just stuck in the room by ourselves, locked doors. Like, we couldn't leave for, I think, two days.

[Michael Bostic]

What'd you do?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I mean, I brought wine, so I was drinking wine in my room.

[Michael Bostic]

Could you read a book?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Oh, yeah. You could watch tv.

[Michael Bostic]

You could watch tv, but you were.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Like, stuck in the room, and you didn't know if you were gonna go until, you know, the producers came, and they were like, all right, pack your bags or you're headed to the house.

[Michael Bostic]

That sounds like a vacation. Now, being locked in a room with a little bit of wine and some tv, I would love that. I know.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Sounds fun. In a robe and bed.

[Michael Bostic]

Barefoot dreams wrapped around. Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

And then you order room service.

[Michael Bostic]

So when they come into the room after two days, do they tell you, like, you're picked and you're going straight to the Jersey shore house?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Oh, they were just like, get ready. Like, you're gonna. You're up next to head to the house.

[Michael Bostic]

And what's your impression of everyone when you get there?

[Lauryn Evarts]

Did you know anyone ahead of time?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

No. So I knew Dina. Me and Dina were, like, MySpace friends, and we had, like, similar friends in Jersey, so I knew of Dina, and she was actually supposed to be on season one, but then her grandmother died, and she backed out. So I don't know who replaced Dina, but Dena was supposed to be there, and there was another kid that was supposed to be on it, but he didn't make the cut. He lived near me. So when I walked in, I thought I was seeing my friend and. And Dina, and I didn't see them. And I'm like, what is this? Cause I already felt cozy knowing they were gonna be there.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

So then I see everyone and they're total strangers. And I walk in, and I was just ready to party. Cause I. Every summer, I would go there, and I would, like, stay at friends houses. And all we would do is drink, like, all day and all night. Like, that's what you do in Jersey Shore, like, in the summertime. So I walk in and nobody wants to take shots. No one wants to drink. The guido. The Guido. Back in the day, it was more of a lifestyle. So everyone's saying, oh, you know, you're making fun of Italians. It was just a lifestyle. Like. Like your emo, your punk.

You're Guido guida. So it's, like, just how you present yourself. So, like, tan, obviously.

Tan, spiky hair, muscles. And Vinnie was just none of that. So I'm like, what was he doing here? He doesn't fit in. And then nobody wanted to take shots, so I'm just like, what is this?

So then what sort of breaks the ice if no one wants to take shots and have fun? What's the icebreaker?

Okay. And then what is everyone else doing sitting there?

I mean, you saw the first episode, right? I got wasted, and everyone was just watching me. I embarrassed myself.

Yeah, but then everyone, like, fell in love with you. Like, I feel like after I got.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Punched in the face.

Yeah, people all fell in love with you.

That's where I almost died.

There was something, like, really endearing to me, watching the show about you right away.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. I think I just. I wanted to have a good time. I was young. I just turned 21.

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

And I just. My boyfriend just broke up with me at the time, so I was, like, miserable. And I just wanted to go out and have a good time. But my goal was to, like, go down the shore, and I wanted to, like, get married young. I wanted to have kids young. So my plan was to find my husband that summer. And it didn't happen. It happened, like, two summers after or a summer after.

So what? I mean, anyone who's watched knows what happened. But what did happen? You didn't find your husband. What did you do? You guys just partied?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah, we just partied. Everyone was hooking up with each other. It was. It was incest, when we look back at it, because I. I see my roomies as, like, my brothers and sisters now. So when we watch old clips of us, like, kissing or, like, doing. Ugh, it's Disgusting.

Who did you think at the time was the hottest in the house?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I thought Ron was the cutest for sure. I was like, ron, you're cute.

[Michael Bostic]

Ron was the cutest.

Ron was the cutest. Mike thought he was the cutest.

Yeah, a guidat.

Yeah, it's just like the female version of a guido. You like to tan. You like house music, big hair, a lot of makeup, long nails.

Is it. Does it still exist now or was it just a moment in time?

Well, I still like big hair. I still love my big hair. And I do miss the poof. I'm thinking about bringing it back, but I don't know.

But like, when I do go out, I like to wear leopard and stuff.

So what is it like having cameras in your face all the time at that point?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I feel like since I wanted it so bad and I knew that I wanted to be a reality star, like, I just expected it and I got used to it right away. Yeah. But it was a lot for the first week. It was weird because back in the day, like, they don't break the fourth wall, which means, like, you can't look at the camera, you can't talk to the producers. It's just like you in a bubble and you can't speak to anyone else outside of that bubble. And now we're all best friends and like we talk every single day. How we shoot is way different now. But back in the day, I would like ask a producer a question. She would just be like this to me, like, not talk to me.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Because they could not interact with you?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

No, they couldn't interact with the cast. So I'm like, what the hell is this?

[Michael Bostic]

And now your friends, would they just.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Be standing like, yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

And I'm like, hello. Like, can I go to the bathroom? Like, I need help. And she would Just stare at me. And I'm like, no, you can't talk to the producers. I'm like, okay. It was kind of like, fend for yourself in front of the camera type deal.

[Michael Bostic]

Did you. When you look back, did you guys blow up overnight or was it like a slow build?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I think the promos for the show really started to, like, build the anticipation of the show because they were like, what?

[Lauryn Evarts]

It was crazy.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. They were like, who the hell are these people? Why are they orange? Why are they dressed like that? Why do they talk like that? It was just like we were a different breed of species that nobody knew about unless you were from the East Coast. So the whole world was like, who are these creatures? And then I think once I got punched in the face, that's when, like, everyone started tuning into the show.

[Michael Bostic]

I mean, the show. Because we were from California at the time. We're in San Diego. You're right. We. I had never been to the Jersey Shore, so. You are right. It was like, almost like a different culture.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. They were like, what. What is this?

[Lauryn Evarts]

Remind me why you got punched in the face. It's been a while.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, this guy at the bar, he was wasted, and we kept ordering shots and he kept stealing the shots. So the first time, I'm like, ugh, whatever. Second time, I'm like, all right, those were our shots. Third time, I ordered another round of shots. He took them again. I'm like, bro, these aren't your shots. Like, stop. And then he was starting to get nasty with me, and I called him ugly. And then he punched me.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Oh, man, I forgot it was a guy that did that.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, he got arrested. I don't know what happened with that, but he lost his job. He was a gym teacher, so he couldn't get a job after that. And then his dad did an article recently. Not recently. Probably like five years ago, saying that I'm the reason why his son had to enroll in the army because he couldn't get a job, so he had to join the army.

[Michael Bostic]

Well, that's a lesson that you shouldn't punch people, even if you're on or off tv.

I was like, it's not my fault. It's your son's fault.

But remember when that guy stuck his finger down my pants at the bar?

Okay, so when you guys start to gain momentum and blow up overnight, what, what is that like? Because you can't like call your friends from high school. They're not going to understand. What was that like for you?

Well, yeah, it was crazy. So after, after a couple episodes aired, they were like, all right, we have to do press now. Mtv. So we're like, okay, cool. They were like, we're gonna fly. We were supposed to do it like locally, I think in the city. And then everything changed to la and we were like, oh my God, like, I've never been to California before. I hardly flew. Like, I went to Florida a couple times on vacation as a kid. But like, I wasn't like used to flying or doing anything. So we, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. So flying to California. And then we did all the shows. Like we did E News, tmz. And then we were supposed to be there for only like two nights. We ended up staying for a week because then Jimmy, Jimmy Kimmel wanted us. Or Jimmy Fallon, one of those. What's his name? Oh my God, he retired.

Well, yeah, he's in the city, right? Jay Leno. Jay Leno. Like we were doing all these crazy shows and they were like, hey guys. We were just like, what are we doing? So we ended up staying there for a week and obviously we went out to party because we were there and we wanted to go out and party. So we were like partying with Leonardo DiCaprio, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton. It was crazy.

And were they coming up to you and being like, we love your show?

She was going to school to be a graphic designer. I was going to school to be a vet tech. Like, we all went back to our lives because we were like, that was fun. You know, we did it, but back to our lives. And then once it aired, everything changed. Like, I couldn't finish my school. Everyone got fired from their jobs because we were just traveling so much. Like, we were worried about our income because we. We didn't have, like, a plan. You know what I mean? It was very spontaneous because, like, they.

Didn'T pay a lot in those early. The first seasons. Right?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

The first season, they didn't pay us. We only got paid from Danny from our. The T shirt shop. He gave us $200 a week.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. They didn't pay you for the show the first season?

So at what point do you guys all band together and know you have leverage, that you guys have a huge show that you should be getting paid for?

Oh, after they said season two, we're going to Miami, we knew we had to get paid.

So did you guys all meet together and say, like, we're.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah, we band together. We. We all ended up getting, like, managers, agents, and did the whole thing.

[Michael Bostic]

Some casts don't do that.

Oh, I know.

They fend for themselves, but we all band together.

I personally think that's smarter. Right. Because then you all, like. You all know your words.

Yes. You either lose one and you replace one, or you lose the entire cast. And supposedly they said that Jersey Shore was supposed to be a cycling cast, so every season it's different people.

That wouldn't have worked.

That's why they didn't do it.

So. So when you guys all get managers and agents and you do the second season, is your life. Your life's completely different. No one's working at their own job. What is that like, in the house? What's the energy? Is it different?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah, I feel like we. We knew what we were doing now. Like, it wasn't just fun and, like, oh, we're doing the show real quick. Like, what a fun experience. We knew this was gonna be our jobs now.

[Michael Bostic]

And is there, like, sort of like, a villain in the house at this point, or is everyone getting along?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Season two?

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I feel like people were headbutting with Mike a little bit and Angelina and.

[Michael Bostic]

Are you guys. Is it actually real or is it put on for television?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

No, everything was real, unfortunately. Yeah. I wish I could say it wasn't. It's all a lot of embarrassing things that I wish.

[Lauryn Evarts]

How did you manage those quote unquote, embarrassing things in your personal life? When people said everything gets filmed, it comes out. Your family, friends, you know, you like, what?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah.

[Lauryn Evarts]

What are the conversations that take place then after, when they see all the footage?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, my. My friends knew exactly what I was going to do on the show because they babysat me all the time. So they were like, oh, I'm surprised you did that on tv. I'm like, I know, but, like, my mom and my dad, they were like, is this how you act like, I'm so sorry, but I was 21. Like, you can't tell me.

[Michael Bostic]

What are you talking about? Give us some embarrassing things that you feel like when you reflect back, you think are embarrassing.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Just, like, the hooking up aspect of it, because my parents saw that. And then now, like, if my kids decide to one day watch it, they're gonna see their mom, like, not kissing their dad. You know what I mean? Just like, it's like embarrassing things now.

[Michael Bostic]

I feel like it's such a moment. It's so nostalgic. It's iconic. I think they're gonna get it.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah, well, my kids think I'm an actress right now, so that's what they.

[Michael Bostic]

Think you do for a living.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yes.

[Lauryn Evarts]

You should explain it that way. If they see it, be like, this is just acting.

No. Yeah, yeah. Until they're like, 18, then maybe I'll, like, tell them the truth.

And so as you guys keep doing seasons, are you. Are you all, like, going to the producers and saying, we know our worth, like, pay us more. Like, you're lucky to have us basically. Like, do you know your worth at this point?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah, yeah. We weren't cocky about it, though. We were just like, please, like, it would be nice. And we always got what we wanted. And the network was happy. We were happy.

[Michael Bostic]

At what point do you start going out in wherever you guys are as a group and all these people come up to you? Like, when does it get, like, so crazy?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah, it was right after season one aired. We couldn't go. So after season one, the show blew up. We went to la. We did all the things, like, everyone knows about us now. So when we were filming season two in Miami and we would just, like, walk down Main street and, like, go. Go to dinners or, you know, go to the club. The first season when we did that no one knew who we were. So we were just, like, walking and it was whatever. Now we had paparazzi, like, 50 paparazzi's following us, people screaming, fans. So from season one to season two was day and night.

[Michael Bostic]

Did you like that?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. We thought we were so cool. We were like, hey, and, like, posing for paparazzi, and producers were yelling at us like, you're supposed to be just normal people, like, not celebrities. So we loved it.

[Michael Bostic]

I mean, it sounds fun.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah, we. We were so cool.

[Michael Bostic]

At what point do you realize that you wanted to use. Not use the platform, but leverage the platform to start your own business and do your own thing? Like, when did you start to have the business mind?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I don't know. I feel like the whole season one to season six, it was just like, party mode.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Like, this is great. Let's take what we can get because it's going to be over soon. So I feel like. I feel like after I had Lorenzo, which was. That's when they ended the series, which was season six.

[Michael Bostic]

Was it because you had a baby?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. And I think they wanted to take a break. Like, they didn't want to over saturate the show too much, so they did the break. And then once I had Lorenzo, me and Jenny did our spin off Snooki and jwoww, which did very well also. I like that show, and that was just me from party girl to mom and, like, doing the whole transition. So I didn't really become business savvy and, like, build a career until after I had Lorenzo because I was like, all right, I need to make money for this baby and I need to be responsible, and it's not about partying anymore.

[Michael Bostic]

So what was your first thing that you launched to your fans?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I feel like I had the slippers. The slippers was, like, the first thing that I really did. My Snooki slippers that I always, like, shuffled around in the house with. That's content marketing to pig slippers. I love them. But then I had. I opened my online store. The Snooki shop.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

So that opened, I think, right before Lorenzo was born. So, yeah, I was just doing, like, little things that I always wanted to do.

[Michael Bostic]

Did your husband want you to continue to do the show, or did he want you to get off reality television when you guys got married?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

No, he still wanted me to, like, do my career and do all the things, but he didn't want to be involved as much.

[Michael Bostic]

He didn't want to be involved.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

He didn't love it. Yeah.

[Michael Bostic]

So Then what makes you decide to come back to reality television years later?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Like the reboot.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Jersey Shore family vacation.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I don't know. I feel like when it came back, everything was coming back. So, like, Friends was coming back. They were casting new cast for, like, back in the day shows. So everything. It was just, like, a very nostalgic time for things to come back. And we were just like. We did a group chat. We were like, if we were to come back, would you all be down? And everyone was like, yeah. So then we pitched it to mtv, and then they. They bought us again.

[Michael Bostic]

And every single person came back?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. Except Sam.

[Michael Bostic]

Why didn't she come back?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

She didn't want to. She wanted a break. And I feel like her and Ron were not good, so she didn't want to be around him. And I don't know. I just feel like she didn't want to be. She didn't want to be involved.

[Michael Bostic]

When you guys get the cast back together, did you guys have that same essence and magic that you had years before?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. And everybody was like, same scared. Because obviously we were older. I had two kids at the time, so they were like, oh, how's she gonna be? And I was even ragier because I was a mom. Right. Toddlers.

[Michael Bostic]

I got it.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

So I walked.

[Lauryn Evarts]

You came to party hard.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I can't party. I think I peed in the pool. It was a nightmare. And then I'm like, oh, my God. I shouldn't be acting like this. As a mom, I was a little more tamer, but I was still like a meatball.

[Lauryn Evarts]

No, but I imagine, like, that's so, like. It's like a. It's like a. It's like a switch in the brain where it's like, it's party time again.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, yeah.

[Lauryn Evarts]

Get in that environment with all those people.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. So it's like back in the day, like, we're 21 again and living in the house. Like, let's rage. And we all did. But then I'm just like, wait, I have two kids at home. I'm married. It's like I kind of, like, need to class it up a little bit, but still have fun.

And he's been sober now. So what is it like for him? Going sober back into that.

Yeah. So I feel like it. That was a test for him because I don't remember how many years sober he was when we started the show in Miami. Back. Back years ago. But now I think he's coming up on 10 years sober.

Yeah, he's doing great. Sobriety wise, business wise. Like, he. He's killing it.

No. So Paulie and Nikki aren't married. Vinny's still single.

I don't know. I think he's concentrating on his career right now. So he's doing, like, stand up and doing all the things. He lives in the city. He has a great place. Like, he's bachelor. Life is, like, really good on him right now. But obviously, eventually he definitely wants to, you know, find a wife and have kids. But I don't think it's gonna happen yet.

I have a friend like that. I'm totally. There's Taylor.

I had one of my friends the other day. He's like, almost 40 years old. He looked at me, he's like, you.

Yeah. That's Vinny. He'll be 38 this year. He turns 38 right before me.

So what's weird, because when. When you. We have three kids too. And so, like, this. This gap starts to happen with, like, the. The friends that have kids and the friends that don't, because we're, like, living in two different worlds.

I was just like, yeah, like, our kids are gonna be in college when Vin decides to have a child.

Like, I was explaining, how are they.

Going to be friends?

And, like, my. My buddy that doesn't have kids. I was like, you know how you just, like, wake up in the morning and, like, walk out your front door and do whatever you want? Like, it takes me, like, 45 minutes just to get out of the front door.

Yeah. Like, another 30 minutes to get them actually in the car. Yeah, like, just get in the car.

And a lot of bribery. Someone told me the other day, I'm sweating by the kids, and they said, you shouldn't do that. You shouldn't bribe with food. I'm like, oh, you can't do anything nowadays.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Oh, I bribe with everything. I'm like, I don't care.

[Michael Bostic]

Yeah, it's.

I don't go by any rules.

If your kids came to you when they were in college and said, I want to do a reality show, just, like, what would you say?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Please? No.

I really want them to do something different. Just because I know the industry, and it's not great all the time.

Why?

I don't know. Just a lot of shady stuff and just everyone knows you, and everyone has an opinion. I don't want people, like, attacking them. Like, they don't. They don't like filming right now. Like, my little one loves the camera. Like, touch it and be funny with it. But he's only six. He doesn't really get it. My son hates it. He's 13. He's like, I don't want to be on TV. Like, don't push me. So that's why my kids aren't on tv on the show a lot, because they just don't want to be, and I have to respect that for them.

How do you handle some of that? I don't want to say criticism, but some of the commentary from people that watch you or follow you, that's not nice commentary.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Oh, we. So thank God we all have tough skin. Like, so many people have said horrible things about us, and we're like, you're just jealous. So I don't give a shit, like, what people say about me. But, like, if you're talking about my kids, like, my husband or my friends, like, I. I get mama bear, and I get annoyed.

[Michael Bostic]

So will you fight back in the comments?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yeah. I kill people with kindness. And then they feel so dumb that they're like, oh, you're actually a chill person. I'm like, I know if you actually met me, I'm. I'm a normal, like, fun person.

People judge me a lot.

I feel like with you though, it's like what you see is what you get. Like, you're real on television. And I think that's why it translated the show. It seems to me that, like, you guys really were showing up who you are and that's why everyone liked it so much.

Yeah. But I feel like the people that weren't fans of the show, they just see us as like, alcoholics or just people that like to party. And we're like, so much more than that.

Well, yeah, you guys also are pretty damn savvy to know how to make good reality. I mean, that's also why they're watching. Right?

That's why. That's why the show was so successful. It's like people want to see that. Like, if you guys were just sitting around only doing laundry and tanning, that would be pretty.

My hair? No. So I'm so. I'm Chilean, so my hair is so thick, like my daughter. So Gianni's full blown Italian and I'm Chilean, so. With his hair so thick and my hair so thick. My kid's hair is insane, like, so thick. So I have very thick hair. No extensions. I just got it done yesterday.

How do you get the perfect Snooki poof? Walk us through it.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, it's easier if you have thick hair, obviously.

If you don't have thick hair and it's very thin, you gotta tease the shit out of it.

Oh, it takes two seconds. That's why when my poof was like a thing back in the day and they were selling the bump it and all these things, I'M like, you're lying. I was like, that's not what I do.

You should have said it was a bump it and then invented some kind of bump it.

I know I should have really thought about it, but I wasn't thinking back then. I was just drinking.

What does your life look like now as an entrepreneur? Like, what is your day to day? What are you working on?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, I'm always busy with my stores. I have four stores. I'm always like doing physical stores. Yeah, yeah.

It's a lot of work.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, I had my online for a while and then once we had a break with like not filming, I was like, this is the perfect time to open a brick and mortar real quick. So I just did it. And then I have four more stores. So, yeah, that's like a full time job running all the four stores and like the employees and like the inventory and all that. It's a lot. And then I have my own wine. So I'm working on, like coming out with new wines. I have my two podcasts that I'm doing. I feel like I'm doing more. What else am I doing?

[Michael Bostic]

You're being a mom.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I'm doing more things. We're filming. We're still filming your next season? Yeah, next season starts in January and we already filmed like half. Half of it. Well, the trailer just released, so you see a lot of shit go down, but you see Sam telling us she's pregnant and then Sam having the baby, which he just had. And then her wedding's in December, so we start filming next week to like, start getting everything ready for that.

[Lauryn Evarts]

And you're gonna film the wedding.

[Michael Bostic]

What do you have to do to prepare to film a reality show? I know before I come on the podcast, if I'm doing like a week of shows, I have to like, energetically prepare because it takes a lot of your energy and your capacity. Is there stuff that you do to get in the. In the reality show mode?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

I don't think personally, I think. I think just getting the house prepared because I'm not going to be home.

[Michael Bostic]

So you have to organize.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Prepping the meals, doing all the laundry, laying out the clothes for the kids for school, just so Gianni knows everything.

[Michael Bostic]

How long is the filming schedule?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, usually we go on trips, so it could be like three days that I'm away. And I only do three days because I tell production I can't be away. From my kids for more than three days. So you got me for three days, so. But this one, we're not going away. We're just doing local stuff. But it's Monday to Friday, and it's all day, so I'm not gonna be home.

[Michael Bostic]

Do you go into it with a strategy or a plan, or is it.

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Just like, let's just see what happens, you know? Now it's. We've known each other for, like, 18 years now, I feel. So we just go in and we just enjoy. Enjoy each other's company, and whatever happens, happens.

[Michael Bostic]

And do you guys still fight like brother and sister?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Yes, all the time.

[Michael Bostic]

Who do you fight with the most?

[Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi]

Well, I don't personally fight with anyone, but, I mean, we get annoyed with each other.

Who's the most annoying?

Vinny.

Well, you definitely need a weekend. So you would stay at my shore house in Seaside. Okay. Because I have a Snooki shore house that I still have yet to rent out yet.

I haven't wanted to yet because I feel like it's not how I want it to be. And also, like, I have friends and family staying there all the time. So it's just, like, I bought it two years ago, and it's, like, all done with, like, Snooki and leopard and. And I just. I just had my. My nieces and nephews and family stay there. So definitely next year, because Gianni's yelling at me to do it because he's in real estate. So I think next year we'll put the Snooki house on Airbnb or something for Seaside Heights. You can stay at my house. Okay. And then obviously, you go see the Shore store. Go see Danny. Okay. And then he'll give you the tour of the whole house. Which smells like throw up in condoms. It's so gross. It still smells to this day. I don't know how we lived in that house.

Yeah. No. Well, sometimes. So my daughter Giovanna, she is. She's an athlete. She does competitive cheerleading, all star cheerleading. So they obviously, everyone knows that she's, you know, my daughter, a cheer. So all the little cheerleaders look up to her and they, like, go up to her and ask for pictures. So it's kind of like she's starting to feel like the fame of it all. But it's, but it's. For her, it's not. Has nothing to do with me. It's her being a cheerleader and her, like, killing it.
