"They spilled into the crowded Metro car, a mid forties couple looking exhausted after a morning of shopping. His tall, lanky body shielded her against the jostling of bodies pressed against them. After the last stop, he guided her into the just vacant single seat directly across from me. Her knees brushed mine as she breathlessly lowered herself to sit. He placed their parcels at her feet. She lifted her head to look at him. Her tousled, grey streaked, light brown curls framed a face that gave him a most adoring look. He smiled, reached down, and ever so gently stroked from base to uplifted chin the length...
