Donald Trump was worried. His staff was worried. He saw the math that if he didn't come potentially I was going to win this thing flat out.
Tara Palmeri
Welcome to the Tara Palmeri Show. That was Sean Harris. He's a Democrat running for Marjorie Taylor Greene's vacant seat in Georgia 14. Just a few years ago in 2024, he lost to her by 29 points, a woman who muse that the California wildfires could have been started by Jewish space lasers. Few years later, he is leading a pack of Republicans by just three points and he's heading into a runoff in April against Republican Clayton Fuller who was endorsed by Trump. But I've just been thinking to myself, did Marjorie Taylor Greene actually lay the groundwork with the Epstein files and the anti war agenda for a Democrat to take her seat? Has she turned this ruby red district against Trump? Why would an American president lead his political party in into the midterms, waging a full scale major war on behalf of Israel? And that's the way most Americans see it. Take a listen to this interview. It's fascinating. I talked to Harris about all of this and more. But first, a moment from our sponsors. Picking the right medical coverage is stressful. So if you or someone you love is on Medicare, you really need to pay attention here because it's confusing at times and I actually think it's on purpose. Well, chapter has unbiased independent Medicare advisors that are salary based. They're not looking to waste your time. In fact, they can scan through tons of plans in under 20 minutes and they'll tell you if the one you have is the right one or if you can save money as much as eleven hundred dollars. That's the average that people save. And the best part is it's totally free. It's a great way to find a plan that fits your needs. So for free and unbiased Medicare Help, dial 305-5155 5237 to speak with my trusted partner chapter or go to askchapter.org harris Sean Harris, thanks for coming on the show. You're the man everyone is talking about. Everyone who may not know much about the 14th district in Georgia, where you are from and where you hope to represent. It is a very rural ruby red district. This is like Trump country. So to see you even coming ahead of a Republican who was endorsed by Trump, by the way, by a few points, has been a bit of a political shocker. What do you make of it all?
Sean Harris
Well, first of all, I just say, hey, I'm glad to be on your podcast. You know, reality of it is, is we are exactly where we said we was going to be. We knew that we were in a jungle runoff. That's a as like a primary where everybody's on the same ballot, Democrats, independents, Libertarians and Republicans. And I think it was at one time 22 of us actually running for this seat. Then I think it whittled down to about 16, 17 with majority of them being Republicans. So. So I tell you, we, we went into this thing knowing that a couple things were true. One, Marjorie Taylor Greene was not in the race anymore and I ran against Marjorie last time, did extremely well. But you know, you don't get a second pace trophy. But with that being said by a
Tara Palmeri
29 point margin, just so everyone can. But I'm just trying to get.
Sean Harris
No, no, no, no. I doing 40 years in the military. I love dealing in the facts because that's how you get better. If you understand what happened now, you can come back and make it better. And that's what we doing this time. This time we knew that with Margie not being in the race, I have the name recognition this time. And on top of that, I've been here in the community now for almost three years being out of the military. So people actually know Sean Harris. Last time, yes, I was a retired general, but I was new to being back in Georgia, new to being in this world of politics and new just to the people in the community saying I actually personally know him this time running against all these other Republicans. My name is the name that northwest Georgia knows in a good way. On top of that, the President, United States, like you mentioned, came down here, endorsed Clay, came to Rome, Georgia, that did absolutely nothing for him. Matter of fact, we were planning to actually run against another candidate by the last name of Moore that cares a stronger name, more of a fire brand like Marjorie Taylor Greene. And luckily Fuller lipped across the line and got there. But the reality of it, we went into this thing knowing that, okay, it's going to be very Hard for us to get the 50 plus 1%. That's how it is in Georgia. I don't have to like it, but that's the way it is. Then on top of that, we want to go and say as a Democrat, we can get the most votes. And we did that. And now we take in that momentum into this April 7th runoff.
Tara Palmeri
It is interesting because President Trump decided to, to back the less Trumpy candidate. Right. And we know in Texas Senate so far in the primary, he has not put his finger on the scale. He has, you know, Senator Cornyn, the incumbent, struggling to hold on to his seat in a runoff with the Texas, with the Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, who is arguably more Trumpy. But in this case, President Trump, taking the advice of his political team, decided to come to Georgia and endorse the less Trumpy candidate, Clay Fuller, who, who did you know, he did beat all of these Republicans. I think it was about 12 of them. And of course the, the vote was split among them, but he still came about three points shy of you. And it's clearly. So we'll need some more time to see how this is all going to shake out. But it feels like Trump's influence has shifted. I mean, usually he would be the kingmaker, he would put his finger on the dial, the other candidates would drop out or everyone would know who to vote for. But it didn't seem to really work this time. It's like MAGA doesn't really trust him anymore. And I wonder if that has something to do with Marjorie Taylor Greene and her, you know, her war with, with Trump over the Epstein files, her attacks on him for engaging in this war in Iran. Do you think she's like, the constituents were on her side in these fights and now they don't really trust Trump. Like they don't think he's actually truly MAGA anymore.
Sean Harris
Well, I would tell you, Marjorie, now is, is on every news station you can think of that normally not be on talking about all the decisions Donald Trump is currently doing. And the crazy part is some of them I actually agree with Marjorie and I agree on Epstein files need to be released. Marjorie and I agree, looking through different lenses, that the reality of it is this war that we're in is a war of choice and we getting our American soldiers killed. And on top of that, it's probably going to get a lot worse deploy, it gets a lot better. And then on top of that, the economy is, is killing us. This is a rural community, like you said, agriculture is the number one industry I'm a cattle farmer. And the reality of is diesel prices is out the roof, fertilizer cost is out the roof. So with all of those things happening, then on top of that, you put my opponent, Clay. Clay says that, that he supports Donald Trump 100%, is no space between him. So that simply means that he said that everything Donald Trump is doing is right. I would tell that is the first failure in leadership. And. And he is clearly doing it. That as a leader, you. You just don't blindly follow anybody. You got to question things. And that is where Clay is making his mistake. And Marjorie's pointed that out. And I'm also pointing that out that guess what? When I go to Washington, D.C. i'm representing the people here in Northwest Georgia, period. As a moderate Democrat, when I get to D.C. if Donald Trump's administration is doing something right, that's going to benefit the people here in Northwest Georgia, then I'm going to vote for it. But if he's doing something wrong, his administration is doing something wrong, I'm going to push back on it hard. Because here in the rural community, we feel it first before everybody else. You know, we don't have 5,000 different grocery stores and we don't have all those other options. We really get. My. My entire district, every county, is basically Walmart, Triton Supply, and the Dollar General. That is the one thing that we all have in common. So that's the reality of it, is the rural community needs a leader that's going to look out the record for them. And Marjorie's pointed that out. Even though she's not on the ballot, every time she calls that out and points out on Trump, that then turns back around to Fuller because Fuller wants absolutely no space between him and Donald Trump. Really what I always tell people is Fuller's going to. Donald going to Washington D.C. just to work for Donald Trump, not for the people here in Northwest Georgia.
Tara Palmeri
Did you ever think Marjorie Taylor Greene might be your best surrogate?
Sean Harris
You know, I have told some friends that this particular race that I'm in right now is like being in the twilight Zone. I wake up every day not surprised on anything. You know, I think it was two or three days ago Marjorie said on CNN that Fuller was going to win this election. However, just the way she said it, it was. It was with absolutely no enthusiasm, I think, right. For a Republican card, she needed to say something, but she didn't put any emphasis behind it. And the reality of it is Clay is running against me right now in this runoff, but Clay is At the same time, running against, I think, seven, seven more Republicans in a primary as we speak. So those other Republicans, he continues to beg and say, please, all the Republicans come together and vote for me. I don't see that happening. Specifically. I don't see Moore's people actually coming in behind Clay because Moore has already made it very clear that he wants to run against me in November because, you know, when I win this thing, I only go from. Go to D.C. from now to November, then we got to do it all over again. And I believe Moore believes he's a stronger candidate. So Clay has problems over there. So when I beat him, I'm going to be prepared to go against more and then beat him in November.
Tara Palmeri
Yeah. So Senator, State Senator Colton Moore, he is seen as the Moore maga. Right. Of the candidates. But, you know, they made the calculus in Washington that Fuller would be a safer frontliner. And it's kind of crazy to even think of him as a frontliner. I mean, your district is just so red. But yeah, this is, these are the times that we're, we're in right now. I'm curious though, have you gained some of Marjorie Taylor Greene's voters, Republicans who are curious Democrats?
Sean Harris
Well, I tell you, I'm not going to say that I gained some of Marjorie Taylor Greene's voters, but what I, I can tell you for a fact, I have gained overtime Republicans that say, you know what, Sean, I'm never going to be a Democrat. However, I'm not mega. And the Republican Party that I stand for has left me. And usually what they talk about is the debt that we in. Because, you know, just this past week it came out that this, this war choice that we had in, in, in Iraq, I mean, Iran cost us $11 billion in one week and we already in week three. And it doesn't seem like it's slowing down anytime soon. With that being said, those Republicans are saying, hey, I want to give this moderate Democrat a chance and if he doesn't actually bring back results, yes, we can always vote him right back out in November. And I think that's what a lot of people are doing. Democrats 100% supporting me, independence, 60% are coming my way and even more now with all the gas price and everything's going crazy. But we're running somewhere about 20% of Republicans that have voted for me. And when I say that, some are actually bold enough to put signs and stuff in their yard, which is awesome. But it's others that are doing it very quietly and I can respect that. But at the end of the day, the coalition that I'm putting together is allowing me to go to D.C. because they see, you know what? For once somebody's going to D.C. to focus on us, the everyday hardworking person here in the District versus somebody else outside the district. Because for five years that's what Marjorie actually did. And now Marjorie in her own voice is out there telling everybody in the District it did not work. The mega that we've been following is not a lot of true thing. And Donald Trump has lied to people because he said he wasn't going to put them in another war. He, he said he was going to bring down the cost of living. And all of these things are not happening.

So is that how you sort of make yourself a credible alternative for people who are not ready to vote Democrat? You talk about affordability, you talk about the war in Iran. I mean, it does feel like the polar sides of the party, there is some intersection.
Sean Harris
Yeah. You know, since the day that I started this campaign, even when I ran against Marjorie, only thing I've been focused on is kitchen table issues. Because. Because I believe when you say kitchen table issues, that's when you're in your house, sitting down at your own kitchen table with the wife and kids and everybody. And now you really, there's no politics in there. You're looking at, hey, these are all the bills, these are all the things we want to do if we ever can get on vacation, how do we do it? And then that's when you make those hard decisions of can we do this or not? That's not political. And that's why people are listening to me, because they say, you know what? Sean Harris is the only one that's laser focus on what we really are focused on to feed our families. And because I'm doing that, that's why more and more people come into my. I don't want to say my side of the ledger because I want to make sure that when I win this election, I'm going to represent everybody in the district regardless you voted for me on or not. And the way I'm going to do that is it will be Democrats, Independents, and yes, Republicans that will be on my senior staff when we actually, in Washington D.C. because I want to make sure that when we're reading policy or writing policy that those policies fit best for northwest Georgia right here in the rural community.
Tara Palmeri
Yeah. Have you spoken to her at all since she left Congress?
Sean Harris
No. Never have spoken to Marjorie Taylor Greene. I was supposed to speak to Marjorie Taylor Greene when she was in Congress. My last assignment was Israel. I was a senior defense official there. However, Marjorie is supposed to come over on a visit with some other congressmen, but she did not make the trip because of a statement that she had made. And because of that we never actually got a chance to meet. But if she would have came over because I was from Georgia and because I was a senior military official there, Marjorie and I probably, I would have briefed her definitely on a top secret level. But on top of that we put a picture together because that's normally what happens. Anybody from your home state, when a senator or representative comes by, those people take pictures with, with that particular person. So it would have been funny if Marjorie Taylor Greene would and I would have met each other back in 2, 20, 21, 22 time frame.
Tara Palmeri
Interesting. Yeah, I guess she was always, has always been a very big critic of Israel. How much of your strategy right now is about persuasion versus turnouts? Are you trying to flip Republicans or mobilize voters who typically sit out?
Sean Harris
We, we're doing both. We're doing both. As soon as I hop off this podcast with you and we all there's 10 counties in our district. Yesterday was a very cold rainy day. Today is still cold, but later on it's going to warm up. So today we actually out knocking on doors everywhere. But then we have a whole different set of people that's maybe not from our district but around the United States that is physically making phone calls. And when they making those phone calls, we're talking to Democrats, but we also are talking to Republicans that, that are not, I'm not going to say they hard Republicans, but they kind of lean both ways. So we still talking to those individuals. So we're doing both at this point. And I when I say we're doing both, when you see I have on a shirt that says leadership matters, everything that when I say that we are, that means that I'm doing it too. So when I finish talking to you today, I'm physically jumping in a car and going somewhere in the district and we're going to be out knocking on doors. And when I go out and knock on doors because my, my counterpart, when he goes out, he, you can tell it's all staged. I have no clue who house I'm knocking on. I'm not sure if they going, yes, I'm going to vote for you or no. At the end of the day, I just like talking to regularly everyday people. And we, we just, that's how we're going to win this. The election is getting out and putting in the work.
Tara Palmeri
So you've actually led troops in combat. When you hear President Trump talk about Iran, what concerns you the most from a military standpoint?
Sean Harris
Yeah, you know, yeah, you're right. I did lead troops in Afghanistan. 2007, 2008, was an embedded trainer, one of the first ones to train the Afghanistan National Police. And war is not fun. Combat is not fun. It's not a video game. And we shouldn't treat it like that. We should take it very serious. And so when I got a chance to see everything that was going on, it concerns me that our most senior military leaders advised this was not the time to go into Iran. However, the President made a decision. He can make a decision, he owns it and he needs to own it. And that decision was to go in. So this is a war of choice. The reality of it is now few questions need to be asked. One, he, before we get to the questions he need to do this, he still needs to come up on the net and, and talk to the American people and explain to the American people how we got into this war. That's number one. Then two is, since we, in this war of choice, what is, what are our strategic goals? And then how does those strategic goals fit back into our national, national interest? And then the next point is this. Since we end this war, what is the end state? How do we know that we actually want it? Okay. And then the toughest part is, and this is where you get to the most senior leaders. And this is the difference between Fuller and myself because I am the one that actually have the time in the military, the highest levels. So I know the hard questions to ask when you get to D.C. and this is not being mean because this is about protecting our troops across the board. Is this what happens the day after? And as you can see, because we're dealing with the streets and Hermus and other things, we don't have an answer for the day after. One day we begging our, our allies to come help us. Then the next day we tell them we don't need them. That tells you right there that we don't actually have a plan. We, we faking it. So, so that's. Those are the things that I would say to the president face to face, those are the things that I would ask him to come in and speak to Congress about. And oh, by the way, I'd be remiss if I didn't say this Congress, Congress need to do their damn job. There's no other way I can say it because too many times Congress go home on Friday afternoon knowing doggone well that come Saturday we got a pattern, we're going to start a war. So they need to be asking the administration to come in and them on why we get into these wars and how we're going to get out of these wars. Because right now I think we up to 14. I may be wrong with number, but I think it's 14 soldiers that have already committed the ultimate sacrifice. And I pray for them and their families. But I know we got well over 200 that are wounded, injured in between Germany and Walter Reed here in Washington D.C. and if we put boots on ground is going to be a lot more that's going to be injured or killed.
Tara Palmeri
Yeah. You know, it seems interesting to me because I'm not really hearing a lot from Democratic leadership in terms of a stance on this war. Why do you think they're not really being assertive on how they, on how they view this war yet? And do you think that that is the correct way to handle it?
Sean Harris
Well, I, I think, I think you hear some speaking on it, but it is so many things going on right now that the, the news cycle is very diluted. Okay.
Tara Palmeri
This is a war and we're in day.
Sean Harris
I think you, you exactly right.
Tara Palmeri
It'll be like the 20th day. But yeah, we're, we're deep in it. And I don't think we have really heard a concise message from Democratic leadership.
Sean Harris
Well, I would tell you, I just say it plain because I don't see myself as a real politician. I'm, I'm just, I'm just a tested leader. That's all I am. I tell people all the time I'm tested leader that, that now I raise cattle for a living. I believe that we need to send leaders to D.C. though. It got a backbone. I believe we need to send leaders to D.C. that's going to stand up for the American people and for the people they represent, period. Right now we got too Many leaders in D.C. democrats and Republicans that want to be entertainers and run in front of a camera versus doing their job. And, and your job is going to make sure that you go, some people not going to like you that particular day. And Right now. Because you're exactly right. We don't like, they want 20 or 22, whatever it is inside of this war. Our leaders should be jumping up and down saying, Mr. President, you and your administration need to come in here and explain this. Let's tell the American people how we got in here and then ultimately get to a solution. Because this war of choice is getting completely out of hand, and we don't actually have a good answer for it at this point.
Tara Palmeri
So Joe Kent, who was the, you know, he was one of their heads of counterterrorism, and he just announced. He was the former National Counterterrorism center director. He announced that he was resigning from his position because he claimed that Iran posed no imminent threat.
Sean Harris
Yes. Yes.
Tara Palmeri
Yeah.
Sean Harris
100. And. And just to make sure your viewers actually understand his position, he. The title is a big title, but he actually has one job. His job is the person that goes into the president's office and. And personally brief the president on what's actually happening. Think about what I just said. This individual here is handpicked by the President of the United States to have this particular job. And inside of our intelligence community, a community that I. I have been connected to. I just said that particular way, so I know what I'm talking about. And this individual yesterday took it upon himself to write a letter and post it and say, guess what, ladies and gentlemen, the American people, this is a war of choice. Iran did not have a threat against us at that moment. And. And that is very powerful. I hope that that message continues to get out. And that's why I say the president needs to come in and brief the American people on how we got into this world choice, because this is not some Democrat that said it. This is a Republican. But on top of that intelligence official, that his number one job is to brief the President. And now the President says that person don't know what he was talking about. The reality of it is, no, we have a whistleblower situation, and the individual has been telling the truth. If you listen to many other leaders in the military, we are all saying we should not be in this particular war.
Tara Palmeri
He said, it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. Really, you know, we have been hearing from Republicans for many years that Iran is just weeks away from a nuclear missile. And suddenly in March, we woke up to a war.
Sean Harris
Yeah, well, the other piece of it, I think it was this past summer, let's say seven, eight months ago. I don't. I don't have the dates right here in front of me. But early this year, we, we dropped a lot of bombs on them. And, and I think the President said that it was destroyed, they couldn't do anything, it was all over. And here we are, seven, eight months later. Now we're in the middle of a war, all because of nuclear weapons. So the question is, which story is true or the individual who just resigned and wrote this letter? Is he, is, is he telling us the truth? So the reality of it is that's why I think Congress needs to step up, do their job. That's why I think we need to vote leaders. Regardless, they're Democrat or Republican, we need to vote leaders in the D.C. that's going to stand up. And that's the difference between Clay and I. If you send Clay, if this district sends clay to Washington D.C. our sons and daughters that are currently in the Middle east and currently getting shot at are running the potential that Clay will never, ever question the administration because he is connected to Trump. You send me to Washington D.C. if it's all right, I'm all in. I spent the majority of my life in the military and in a combat zone. I understand the Middle East 100%. But if it's wrong, I will be the one that stands up and say, time out. You got to come in here, explain it to us. Because we're not doing another 20 year war that I served in and we're not going to do another nation building and you don't actually have a plan. So there it is. That is the major difference in this current time that we sitting here in the District. The District has two veterans that they can pick from. One is standing up for all the veterans and all of the soldiers that are overseas and the everyday hard working people here in the District. That's me. And the other one says, yeah, I want to take care of veterans, but at the same time, he's trying to cut things out of the va and then on top of that, he's scared to say anything to the President because he sold his soul to him. And that's, that's just not cool. I think we need to be laser focused on the people here in Northwest Georgia to help them and our kids because as you know, kids come from all over the country, but majority of the military come from rural communities because it is our path to getting to success. And the only reason I'm talking to you on this, on this podcast today is because I'm a product of going to the United States Marine Corps. Enlisted Paris island and then working my way all the way up to a one star general and retiring 40 years later out of Israel.
Tara Palmeri
It is interesting, though, because Republicans do support Trump's war in Iran. He's losing independence. He's long lost Democrats. But, you know, in speaking with your voters in the last few weeks, have you noticed any shift among Republicans who are uneasy with Trump's war in Iran?
Sean Harris
Yes. Then the reason why they're uneasy with it is because President Trump said it for himself many, many, many times that he was going to be the president that gets us out of all of these wars. He said if, if you voted for the Vice President, Harris, she was going to be the one that got us into these wars. So it is his exact words that they are saying, wait a minute, you told me this. My son, my, my granddaughter, my, my family member is currently overseas, or they were somewhere else in the United States and now they've been shipped to the Middle East. So now this is actually turning out to be real. And as you know, the President loves to say, within two weeks, everything is going to end. Well, that's, that's not true. So, so that is why Republicans are saying, wait a minute, we, we need to send Sean up there. Because in the current situation that we, in between now and November, the war and the economy could to be the two biggest issues that's going on. And we need a champion that's going to come from Northwestern Georgia to go up there and fight for us versus somebody that's going to, like Clayton's is going to go up and say, yes, sir, what else do you want me to do? That's, that's not a fighter, that's a follower. And Clay, when he says that he's a warrior, I don't know who he's a warrior for. I think he just wants to get to D.C. and work directly for Trump. If that's the case, he should fill out an application and try to get a job working in the White House, but not in the people's House.
Tara Palmeri
Okay. Well, this was a fascinating interview. Thank you so much for joining the show. I think we've all learned a lot. We're all going to be paying attention to your race. You know, I'm going to be honest. Some Republicans in the party I've spoken to, they are not worried. They think that they've got this lockdown because of your district, and they think it was just the result of a number of factors, including the fact that 12 people were running as Republicans. But you never know. This could be perhaps the sign of a blue wave that is coming. Perhaps your, your race will be the first ripple.
Sean Harris
Well, let me tell you this before we hop off. If they wasn't worried, if they wasn't worried, then why does the president of the United States come to Rome, Georgia? Well before the runoff, somebody was very worried. Donald Trump was worried, his staff was worried because the president has a lot of things going on. But he took time to come down here to Rome, Georgia, two weeks before the, before the primary to, to say this is my guy because he saw the math that if he didn't come, potentially I was going to win this thing flat out. And if you, and if you talking to the Republicans right here on the ground, they are still saying as of today, Republicans, if, if, if you don't get it behind Fuller, Sean Harris is going to win. Well, the reality of it is the reason why they not get behind Fuller is because Fuller is not a strong candidate and Sean Harris is a strong candidate and they are actually pulling toward me and the rest of them going to stay at home. So we're going to see what's going to happen on April 7. I am confident and I tell everybody, when you go from being a private in the United States Marine Corps to retiring as a brigadier general out of the United States army, last assignment is Israel top secret clearance, what is it to be scared of? Nothing. And what I tell everybody is always around me because another thing Marjorie Taylor Greene and I got in common, we both getting death threats. I tell people all the time when you see me out in public and they my schedules out there, I have to have on a bulletproof vest. The reality is I tell people in this district, when you come to your vote, think about your family, think about your kids, think about your grandkids, and courage is contagious. So I say that to the Democrats, I say that to the independents and I say that to common sense Republicans that says, hey, vote your interest because courage is contagious. And take a chance on me because come between now and November, I promise you I bring home results. And then that's why you vote for me again and put me up there for two years. Because everything else has just been a whole bunch of talk, no results. And it's time for us to actually have somebody that's going to bring something home for us here in Northwest Georgia.
Tara Palmeri
Thank you for your time. Best of luck and you know, we'll be paying attention.
Sean Harris

Podcast Summary: The Tara Palmeri Show
Episode: This Democrat leads in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s backyard. Here’s Why | Shawn Harris Interview
Date: March 22, 2026
Host: Tara Palmeri
Guest: Shawn Harris, Democratic candidate for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District
This episode dives into the unexpected political dynamics of Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, where Democrat Shawn Harris now leads a heavily Republican field after Marjorie Taylor Greene's departure. Tara Palmeri, renowned political journalist, interviews Harris to explore how he transformed from a 2024 underdog (losing to Greene by 29 points) to a frontrunner, topping the Trump-endorsed GOP candidate ahead of a critical runoff. Key themes include the fracturing of MAGA loyalty, the fallout from Trump’s military policy, and how rural economic distress is affecting local allegiances.

The conversation balances directness, rural pragmatism, and the perspective of a seasoned military leader-turned-local advocate. Tara Palmeri’s probing and Harris’s grounded, plainspoken style create a pointed, energetic discussion about political transformation, principle over party, and the complexities of America’s evolving electorate.
For listeners seeking insight into how a Democrat could lead in America’s reddest territory—and what it says about both Trump and rural politics—this is a can’t-miss interview.
