In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the several OTA media sessions that took place with members of Pittsburgh Steelers coaching staff and players since our last show. We start this show by recapping our main takeaways from the last several days of OTA sessions and we make sure to focus on several things that Steelers HC Mike McCarthy had to say during his press conference. Several of the offensive and defensive position group coaches talked to the media this past week so Alex and I recap all of the main talking points to come out of those. Those discussions result in us discussing several of the players and position groups that the coaches talked about. In short, there is quite a bit of talk about several different players on the roster throughout this show and too many to name by name. We also make sure to recap what several players had to say during their OTA media sessions over the course of the last few days during this podcast episode. Alex and I spend a little extras time talking about Steelers rookie TE Riley Nowakowski during this show and especially when it comes to his potential snap count and positional roles played throughout his first NFL season. While he's not the only young player discussed during this show, Nowakowski is the one we spend the most time talking about. The Steelers recently made several front office changes that Kozora learned of, so we make sure to recap all of those during this show. Later in this show, I provide a full recap of where the Steelers currently sit in relation to their salary cap situation. The Steelers re-signed DL Dean Lowry to a one-year contract on Tuesday, so Alex and I address that transaction and what it means for the defensive line depth chart moving forward into the offseason. On the heels of the Steelers restructuring the contract of TE Pat Freiermuth recently, Alex and I go over all the details related to that transaction. We also discuss the team's current salary cap situation as of Tuesday morning and why the team might need to restructure the contract of at least one more veteran player before the 2026 regular season gets underway. The finer details related to the four-year contract extension that K Chris Boswell recently signed have now surfaced, so with that, Alex and I address the known numbers and the impact of that deal on 2026 and future years. Recently, Steelers OG Mason McCormick was tabbed as the team's most underappreciated player by one media outlet, so we discuss if that is an accurate designation as he enters his third NFL season. Alex and I also address the possibility that McCormick could be in line for a very lucrative contract extension next offseason. How will new Steelers HC Mike McCarthy attack training camp this summer when it comes to him listening to the likes and dislikes of the veteran players under contract with the team? On the heels of a few recent comments made by Steelers OT Dylan Cook, Alex and I have a lengthy discussion about his outlook for the 2026 season. We discuss the possibility of Cook opening the 2026 regular season as the starting right tackle and how this is a big upcoming season for him as it relates to his future in the NFL and especially when it comes to potential earnings. In the middle of this Monday show, Alex and I look back at the history that Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has had with rookie wide receivers and especially when it comes to his time with the Green Bay Packers. We go over the reception stats of several wide receivers when they played with Rodgers in Green Bay as rookies. After discuss Rodgers's history with rookie wide receivers, Alex and I discuss what that might mean for Steelers rookie WR Germie Bernard in 2026. We discuss the possibility of Bernard having rookie season much like the one that WR Randall Cobb had in 2011 with the Packers. As part of this discussion, Alex and I set and over/under line for Bernard when it comes to his rookie 2026 reception total.
