Hey, it's Tony. On today's show, we'll chat with Michael Wilbon about a dominant win by the Bears in their preseason game against the Bills. And we'll talk to Steve Sands about what happened at Caves Valley in the BMW championship. But first, Commerce.

Michael Wilbon
Previously on the Tony Kornheiser Show. I have a two o' clock tea time and you know, you always look to see what the weather is going to be and that's, you know, there's a little bit, there's a 15% chance of rain and the optimists would say, well, there's an 85% chance that there will be. Now where you are. But I'm not that guy. That guy never happened. The Tony Kornheiser show is on now. Let me just deal with the Nats.
Tony Kornheiser
Let me just deal with the Gnats early because I have another thing I.
Michael Wilbon
Want to talk about. The Nats were at home against Philadelphia.
Tony Kornheiser
Phillies, a significantly better team.
Michael Wilbon
And they split the series. It's all you could ask.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, yeah, splitting the series at home.
Michael Wilbon
Two. Two. All you could ask. They lost yesterday. They started to play at 11:30 in the morning. Like in what in honor of the Boston Marathon. I didn't understand it at all. And then I was told it was a Roku game. Roku was, I guess a specific kind of television set or a specific network or something like that. So it wasn't on smart TV for you. Okay, so it wasn't on regular television. I was playing golf. I wouldn't have seen it anyway. But they, that's a very early start. Speaking of the Gnats, by the way, Nathaniel Lowe, who I always liked, I would have kept him and not Josh Bell. That's me personally. But they made the other decision. Nathaniel Lowe apparently is ready to be picked up by the Boston Red Sox.
Tony Kornheiser
That's right.
Michael Wilbon
He's a really good first baseman.
Michael
We could use one.
Michael Wilbon
So you have Nathaniel Lowe going from a last place team to a playoff contending team. You have Kyle Finnegan going from a last place team to a first place team in Detroit.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Michael Wilbon
You have Alex Call going from a last place team to the World Series champion, the Los Angeles Dodgers. So worked out. It worked out very well for the people who left the Gnats. Now I have to say this. There's nobody I hate more than Jose A. Ferrer and I may have to eat it because it looks like Jose A. Ferrer is, is made to be a closer. Not to be put in in the fifth inning or the seventh inning or anything like that, but to, to close a game. I think he's done it two or three times, Michael, already. And so I'm going to just say, okay, maybe I, I wasn't wrong about Jose Ferrer. I was wrong if you're going to pitch him in the middle of the game. But if you're going to close with him, looks like he knows what he's doing, you know. And the Nats got in that series against Phillies. The Nats got wonderful pitching performances after a really bad first inning by MacKenzie Gore. He was terrific after that and Kate Cavalli. And if, you know, Miguel Cairo doesn't ruin them by the end of the season and force them to get more Tommy Johns, you know, then, then that's a pretty good one and two.
Guest or Caller
Well, in any way they were, they were friendly games. It was, it was basically alumni day out there.
Michael Wilbon
Yes, it was. They got beat. The time that they got beat that I was watching, they got beat by a home run by Schwaber and a home run by Bryce Harper.
Michael
That's right. Yeah.
Michael Wilbon
And you know, and you just said to yourself, wow, you know, what, what was, what might have been, what could have been and all of that, but it's okay.
Tony Kornheiser
Those things Happen.
Michael Wilbon
So, you know, that was a good series.
Tony Kornheiser
And now, in a quick fashion, I'm going to be done with that because I need to tell. I need to tell a story.
Michael Wilbon
I mean, you probably expect me to talk about the golf. We're going to talk about the golf with Wilbon and Sands. So we're not going to talk about the golf here. I'll talk about the dog, Chessy the dog. On Saturday, Chessy the dog begins to bite and bite and bite at her right flank, her outside right flank. And she's biting and licking and biting and I don't know what's going on. And then I see after a while, and I didn't know how to stop it, she had not only opened up a welt, she had denuded the area of fur. She had opened up a welt, and it was openly bleeding. Is bleeding now. It's not bleeding like, you know, she's been shot, but there's blood. And I'm going, what is going on here? So I do what I think is a reasonable thing, and I look around for a veterinarian because this is, you know, big city. Well, it's not a big city, but it's a big enough city in summer. It's a very big city. And I look around for a veterinarian.
Tony Kornheiser
And I call the most local veterinarian.
Michael Wilbon
Well, I don't call because I. I look up. What do I hit? Safari. And then you write things in veterinarians near me.
Michael
Yeah. Then it pops up, Right?
Michael Wilbon
And it pops up. One popped up very close to me, but it's closed. It's closed on Saturday and Sunday. Now, look, I'm not going to yell and scream here, but I'm going to be declarative about this. What do you mean? A veterinarian is closed on Saturday and Sunday? These are animals. They can't tell you what's wrong with them. You can only look at them and notice that their behavior is strange and want some professional opinion. If you're, you know, I don't know if you take a Hippocratic oath when you're a veterinarian, but I assume you become a veterinarian because you love animals. Yeah. And you want to keep animals safe and you want to help animals where you can. So what are you doing being closed on Saturday and Sunday? And Carol calls up a friend and she says, yeah, it's really tough to get a vet. Okay.
Tony Kornheiser
So then.
Michael Wilbon
Then I call another vet that I've had dealings with in the past. This is the Savannah Animal Hospital that Is the name the Savannah Animal Hospital in Lewis. And I call them and I explain my situation. And the young person on the other end of the phone says, well, you're not an active client of ours, so we can't help you. So what? Yes, you're no longer an active. I said, I was because you took care of Maggie, the dog. You even put Maggie down. Oh, yeah, right. Which I remember very distinctly, you know, so well, I'm sorry you're not an active client anymore. I said, well, let me become an active client right now. Yeah, I'm happy to become whatever you charge me. I'm happy to do that right now. I said, well, we. We can't help you. If you think your dog needs urgent care, you can go to either Salisbury, Maryland, or Dover, Delaware. What? I can do what? Like, that's an hour away. I don't know where I am. I don't know what I'm doing. What? Said, yes, if you felt your dog was near death, we would help you. If you felt your dog couldn't make it, we could help you. I said, well, just help me. I mean, I'll become an active client again. No, the further. The quickest we could get to you was September. September. The last time I looked, we were still in August, and we had a ways to go. We had some days to go in August.
Michael
Just a couple.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah, yeah. And September. And I said, and now. Now I'm talking to the second person. There's another young person telling me the same stuff. And I said, look, I'm just gonna. I'm gonna ask you to do me a favor. You have veterinarians there, right? Yes, we do. I'm gonna give you a number. I'm gonna ask you to ask a vet to just call me. This may only take a couple of minutes. You know, just for peace of mind. I'm worried about my dog. Maybe a veterinarian could call me. They don't. They don't call.
Michael
They won't even do that.
Michael Wilbon
No, they don't. Well, they didn't say that, but they didn't call. They didn't call now. Then I called my mobile vet, Dr. Pearl, who knew the name of somebody here. And so we got. We took Jesse somewhere yesterday. Jesse received a couple of cortisone shots. I'm a little worried about her because she's panting all the time now, and it's not normal behavior to be panting all the time, but I don't know. I'm waiting for Michael to tell me I'm completely wrong. And I'm okay because I didn't share this with him last night. I didn't share this with him. But if you're going to call yourself the Savannah Animal Hospital, you know, I mean, I, I don't know, you know, I just, you know, I sort of scratched my head and I wondered, well, how does this work? Because, you know, dogs, cats, birds, whatever, people travel with them, they go on vacation with them, they bring them along and so they need some help. So what do you think, Michael?
Guest or Caller
I had no idea where you're going to take this story. And, you know, you have to care for dogs and cats and clearly there's an opening in these resort towns where you have to have emergency services available for people. Imagine if you're taking that, you know, your big family road trip coming down from anywhere on the east coast and you need emergency care for your animal. I mean, I, we have young boys. It is hard to get into any doctor, any service, whether it's, you know, dental care, medical care, but they have urgency. Sometimes you just want someone to talk to you. Now, yes, with your dog, what you're describing, it seems like it's so easy to get anybody on a video call just to take a look so they can say, no. The dog's actually naturally taking care of this herself. It looks worse than it is. If it gets to this level, we're going to get you a prescription so that you on Monday can get this filled. But you, you can't just shut the door and say, we have nothing till September.
Michael Wilbon
So my friend Rick Burrell, who I play golf with, this full time resident here, graduate of the University of Delaware, he says, yeah, this area of Delaware is considered rural. And so it doesn't have the same standards for the population of medical doctors and veterinary doctors. It does not have that. And I said, but in the summers.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, it's, there's like half a million.
Michael Wilbon
People from Lewis, Delaware to Bethany Beach. Every house is filled, everybody's here. A lot of bring pets. I'm walking the dog at a, you know, quarter to seven in the morning. I'm not alone out there. There's a lot of people out there with animals, not to mention the permanent population. So it was, well, anything about the.
Guest or Caller
The hazards that happen when you're staying in maybe a rental house. You have a lot of, you know, big families staying together, what, what animals might accidentally eat off the table.
Michael Wilbon
It made me sad. It less than angry. It made me sad because when you say to me, you can go to Salisbury, Maryland, that's terrible. Dover, Delaware. Yeah. Well, would that happen with a. With a child?
Guest or Caller
No.
Michael Wilbon
I mean, they have urgent care for children. I. I just think there's an opportunity here. If you're a vet, I think there's an opportunity to, you know, to do good work and make a bunch of dough.
Michael
Well, especially the idea of, like. Well, you're not an active client. Well, I don't live here year round like so many people who come here. It's not strange for me to be here out of town for, you know, even for a few months, whatever, you know, with my animal, you should be able to just say, bring it in. Let's take a look.
Michael Wilbon
Now, I understand that the people who are working at that place are given a script to follow.
Michael
Well, yeah, I understand that.
Michael Wilbon
And they're told not to deviate. I mean, they're not going to make. Except like, I sort of get that. But you're also looking for an adult in the room. And so when I say here is my number, could have that. Just give me a call for that kind of peace of mind. I don't know if that is transmitted to a vet. I don't know if a vet says no, I don't want to do.
Tony Kornheiser
I don't know. I don't know.
Michael Wilbon
Because all I do know is I never got a call. Now we're okay. We think we're okay. You know, we saw somebody and so. But, you know, that's Sean. You have pets? What do you think? Yeah, that's. That's tough, you know.
Michael
You know, there really should be an emergency services, you know, closer than an hour away.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah. So. Oh, maybe there is, but I mean, it was not available to me. And also, I mean, the other vet is just simply closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Michael
Yeah, well, yeah, animals don't get sick on the weekends.
Michael Wilbon
You can't imagine a hospital being closed on Saturdays and Sunday. Now we don't do the weekend.
Guest or Caller
So you are solution. You are a solution, focused person. There's nothing worse than just feeling helpless when you're trying to go through all the right steps to get care for, for your, Your dog, your kid, anybody. And you just keep finding, you know, the door shut to you. But I'm surprised you didn't first go through, you know, your social club where you have access to a lot of professionals who might know.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah.
Guest or Caller
There just might be a faster path to get some sort of identification.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah, I didn't think to do that. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. We're not going to talk about this again. You know, I mean, there's no reason to. We're going to talk about sports when we return.

Michael Wilbon
Gold Pack. Go. Obviously a Packers fan. Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
Plays in Michael Wilbon, who's not a Packers fan.
Guest or Caller
No, no, no, no.
Michael Wilbon
Packers.
Michael
Not at all.
Tony Kornheiser
Hates the packers and has reason to be happy today because his team, the Chicago Bears yesterday or last night or whenever it was looked really good and they look good.
Michael Wilbon
The most important thing I'm sure for you is to see the integration of a brand new head coach, an offensive minded head coach with the overall number one pick, the offensive minded quarterback, Caleb Williams. And to see the. It was only two drives. I, I don't know if you expected him to play because you didn't expect him to play on the first exhibition games, but what was your takeaway from watching him and the Bears?
Guest or Caller
Well, we knew he was going to play last night so that it wasn't a surprise. That was sort of determined and talked about. It's Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson. Yeah. And yes, pairing a coach, not just the offensive minded one, but, but, but a real ace at offense and maybe, maybe a guy we look back on and even three or four years and say he's one, he's, he's a great off. So we're interested in that. And all of the acquisition of talent around Caleb Williams. There's so much of it. I'm like, okay, how do we trade one of these receivers and get a pass rusher or maybe some improvement at left tackle? Because we got just an embarrassment of riches. So, yes, all of that was on display in that first drive, which is what mattered. The Bears got the ball at their seven or eight, and in about six plays went 92, 93 yards. Zip, zip, zip, zip, zip, right down the field.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah.
Guest or Caller
Including the use of the tight end. A lot of people said, why they get a tight end? They already have a guy. Yeah, well, we got another guy. And Ben Johnson likes using two tight ends. So sort of all that Ben Johnson is and wants to be was on display for a moment against a Buffalo team that wasn't even trying. So, you know, I'm not. I'm encouraged by what I saw. Just from what Ben Johnson does, I. I realized that this was not the Buffalo Bills going out there. And people there are people who think the Buffalo will win the super bowl this year. It was not that. And so Josh Allen did not play and. But it was great to see Caleb Williams out there in this form under center. So you could use play action, being protected by an offensive line with. And the Bears put their starters out there for a couple of series, as you said, Tony. So, yes, yes, yes. We're, you know, we feel good. Bears Nation feels good. We're planning a victory parade today for some time, you know, in February. And all is well today because you know how preseason football works. People get nuts and. But we needed to see that. We needed to see it. And we. We also saw what some of the backups look like and how the machinery, the structure of this offense works. And I think the final score was 38, nothing. And the Bears took a knee for like the final three minutes of the game. So, you know, it looked like we have the guy, the first real coach since Lovey Smith and a guy who knows what the hell he's doing. And Ben Johnson.
Michael Wilbon
Okay, so now I have a couple of pushback things. One is that the last time you were on this show, you said, we're going to start the season one and five.
Guest or Caller
Yeah.
Michael Wilbon
Do you still feel that way?
Guest or Caller
Not one in five, but no better than two and two. And the schedule is just brutal.
Michael Wilbon
Right.
Guest or Caller
We start with. And we need to be the Vikings at home on Monday night, given they have rookie quarterback. That's how the season starts. Monday night game in Chicago against J.J. mcCarthy and the Vikings. And listen, the Bears are In a division with three 11 win teams.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah.
Guest or Caller
From a year ago. So. And the second game is at Detroit.
Michael Wilbon
Okay.
Guest or Caller
The third game is against the Cowboys. And whenever Dak Prescott is upright, they've. They've won 12 games the last three times he's played. So they're the third game and the fourth game is something. That's all the fourth games at the Vikings. So maybe not one in four, but no better than two and two. And I still worry that it'll be two and five.
Michael Wilbon
Okay.
Guest or Caller
I worry that before they write themselves and get going, let me give you.
Michael Wilbon
A little more pushback. And I understand your ardor for Ben Johnson and it existed before he got the job. You told me a number of times he's the guy I want. But Matt Nagy was the guy at Kansas City with a great offense with Patrick Mahomes. And you hated him very quickly.
Guest or Caller
Still hate him.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah, hate him.
Guest or Caller
So he wasn't. He wasn't Tony Ben Johnson. And look, there's no reason for anybody to care about this except the people who follow Bears. I watched Ben Johnson's press conferences during the week. I go. I went back last night and I watched a couple. They're exacting, they're demanding. They're the stuff. This is the day. I'm going. I'm going to dangerous territory. Now they. He is. He is so demanding and is of such detail that it's the stuff of Bill Walsh and Joe Gibbs and, you know, Dick Vermeil. He's, He's. He throws people out of practice, starting with the starting quarterback. Get out. You're not listening. Get out. Throws them off the field in front of people, in front of fans. He'd know. He's nothing like McNagy, who I hate.
Michael Wilbon
Okay. All right.
Guest or Caller
So nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all.
Michael Wilbon
Like, have you watched.
Guest or Caller
Hope this is working.
Michael Wilbon
I've been wandering around the NFL Network. You know, when they have games, and I'll look for five or 10 minutes. I did see. I saw the first quarter or so, maybe a little bit more than that of the jets and Giants. These are two terrible teams. They are terrible teams, but the Giants looked actually good. Russell Wilson, you know, was there for one series at the most, two series maybe, and moved the team. They brought in this kid from Mississippi, Jackson Dart. He looked really good defensively, they looked large. You, you know, they suddenly looked much better, though. Now they're playing the jets, who stink. But do you ever, like, look at a game here or there and say, wow, I'm a little bit surprised at.
Guest or Caller
What I'm looking at, I was so chesty last night, given the Bears, you know, first half, I called Neville at halftime and I said, you guys got a problem? You open with the Giants. The Giants are this year's commanders. The Giants could be this year's commanders. I don't know. Who knows?
Michael Wilbon
Who knows is the correct answer.
Guest or Caller
But I, I, I just thought, I'm, I'm in the same place as you about the Giants. Not the jets, of course, but yes, the Giant. I'm like, you know, the Giants have some, they got some pieces, they got some stuff. And if Russell Wilson can do what he did early for Pittsburgh. Yeah, you know, I, I, I'm sort of seduced early on by them. So, yeah, I've been, I've been watching way, way, way too much preseason football. Way much.
Michael Wilbon
All right, let's get to the golf and, and the, you know, this is, it is possible. It's, you know, it's not a major. He, it, the BMW, as great as it is, and we both know Caves Valley very well. We played there a bunch. It's not a major, so it's not Tiger throwing in a putt to win a major. But boy, oh, boy. And it's not JJ Spawn necessarily to win the open with that long putt, but for Scottie Scheffler to chip in from the spinach, that was the first thing.
Guest or Caller
People go crazy with the Tiger comparisons, and, you know, I resist them. Not only do I resist them, I reject them. So does Scotty Scheffler, which has made me really respect him beyond, you know, just how he plays, his performance. That was Tiger like. Yeah, that was Tiger esque. It was, it was when he chipped in, you think, no, no, no, no, no, no, he didn't do that. That, that is not, you know, the poor Scott did not have his best game yesterday. Shot 73. If he shoots 70, he wins. And he didn't. So I'm hesitant. But that was, yes, that was magical. And so I want to see more. That's the thing. Tiger always gave you more. He kept giving it to you like Jordan, you know, and like Ali. Yes, I'm using those two. And so when Scotty, when he does that, then people can say, well, we. Are you going to give him his due? Yeah, I'm giving him his due already. As, as the best players, the best player in the world. I'm not giving him due as Tiger. Not until he has to do that next week. Gotta do it five years before or five more years. Now he's Got the sport.
Michael Wilbon
He's the first guy since Tiger. I think I saw this stat to have at least five wins in two calendar years in a row. His first guy since Tiger. Now, Tiger probably did it five, six, eight times.
Guest or Caller
He didn't stop there. That's right.
Michael Wilbon
So. But. But the only thing I ever said to you about Scheffler is that I didn't say how far down the road he was. I said, he's beginning to walk on that road.
Guest or Caller
Yesterday was the first day of that for me. The other days could have been Jordan Spieth. And Jordan Speed is not on that road, and he's off of it fairly.
Michael Wilbon
He's been. He's been hit on that road by a car that was Scottish.
Guest or Caller
Yes. Yes. I mean, so I want to. I'm interested. I'm really interested. You know, we're. For me, Labor Day is New Year's Day in terms of sports, you know, and yesterday, you know, Cheryl said to me, we're. We're back at Labor Day, you know, and I'm like, labor Labor Day is like, my third favorite day of the year. A lot going on Thanksgiving Day, in order for me, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Labor Day. Because Labor Day also signals the beginning of everything. It's. It's. It's. It's the bell lap of pennant races. It's, of course, the NFL and college football. It's the US Open tennis.
Michael Wilbon
US Open tennis.
Guest or Caller
It's. It's. It's the beginning. I mean, like a week later, NHL camps open. You know, training camp opens to the NHL, like a week after that. So it's the signal of everything. And I know you don't care about this. I now do. You're a week into. Because we just got it. It's before Labor Day, although it used to be Labor Day for them, too. You know, the professional soccer leagues. For me, you know, watching, you know, British soccer, which I still don't really pay attention to the others and I have started to not just pay attention to British soccer, but. But in the Premier League, as you know, have gone a couple of times. So all of that bubbles up right now. Labor Day. Well, we don't even have to wait for Labor Day. We got the US Open starting a week from today. Yeah, right.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah.
Guest or Caller
And, you know, we've got the Cubs and Brewers, and the Cubs aren't chasing the brewers anymore. We're trying to. We're chasing. We're staying. Trying to stay ahead of Philly, the Mets, the Dodgers, the Padres. That's. That's the Group. We're trying to get in as a wild card because nobody's catching the Brewers.
Michael Wilbon
So here's what I wanted to.
Guest or Caller
Five game series at Wrigley Field with the Cubs and Brewers, and we got a lot of work, and I'm not sure we can do it.
Michael Wilbon
So over the weekend, and I'm watching the games, the Nats host the Phillies, and the stadium has a lot of people. It's got 35 plus. I mean, you can see it. They're in the outfield. They're, you know, down the lines. Not just the people behind home plate in the. In the fancy seats.
Tony Kornheiser
And it makes the game so much.
Michael Wilbon
More exciting with the Cubs. The Cubs and Red Sox, Dodgers. They. Yankees sell out every game. Phillies sell out every game. All the time. I hadn't realized how much more exciting it is when you're watching on television and the place is full. It is wonderful.
Guest or Caller
And it's full. And it's tense. Yeah, it's full and tense. And passionate. Yes. I mean, the Padres, Dodgers, series.
Michael Wilbon
Dodgers won. That Dodgers.
Guest or Caller
The Padres actually fill a much greater percentage. They swept them. The Padres fill a greater percentage of their stadium than the Dodgers. The Dodgers don't fill the stadium. They fill.
Michael Wilbon
Oh, I thought they did.
Guest or Caller
No, no, there's. There's, there's lots of empty seats. I mean, I, you know, I spent a lot of time in L. A the last 15 years. Don't get me wrong. They're going to draw 3 million people, but they don't. The Cubs and Red Sox and Padres and Phillies come close. They don't do it every game. They feel every night. And so, yes, you've got. You've got a fan base in Chicago which is right now on its knees. I mean, we are begging. The Brewers. The brewers don't get it every game, but they, they're right there because stadiums are smaller. The Dodgers, it's 50,000. You're not going to fill that every. The Yankees do.
Michael Wilbon
They do.
Guest or Caller
I'm not sure what percentage. The Mets. I bet the Mets are a greater percentage than the Dodgers.
Michael Wilbon
I used to love to cover Orioles.
Guest or Caller
Yeah.
Michael Wilbon
Because they filled it.
Guest or Caller
They filled it.
Michael Wilbon
They really cared.
Guest or Caller
Yeah. So there's, there's, there's places. I tell you, one place has fallen off dramatically, and I don't understand why, and that's the Cardinals. The Cardinals have fallen.
Michael Wilbon
Really?
Guest or Caller
Yeah.
Michael Wilbon
And it's a great baseball town. Cincinnati and St. Louis are the baseball towns.
Guest or Caller
Yeah. I don't know what economically is going on, but, you know, this is the week we start Today it's like get your big boy pants on for sports.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. It's a lot going on.
Guest or Caller
This is the deal starting to me. I, I'm going to watch the tennis. The women's U.S. open is going to be so much more interesting to me than the men's and you know, I'm going to watch Paoli and I can't, you know, I know she's playing today. The women's final is delayed from Cincinnati because of rain. The women and men, you got, you got Alcaraz and center today.
Michael Wilbon
Oh, is that on tv?
Guest or Caller
Yeah, yeah, that's on three. And the women, but the women, the women, they're going to be a dozen women who can win the US Open.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah.
Guest or Caller
And there's only two people coming back into it and Osaka may not be ready to win it again.
Tony Kornheiser
She's not winning.
Guest or Caller
Hey, but listen, she's back. She is in the finals. She's one of the. She's what?
Michael Wilbon
She's not doing anything special in the last three majors.
Guest or Caller
Yeah, she's. Forget the majors. You gotta, you don't just come back from having and babies and when you got to play your way in. And because she's got so much competition. There's competition. There's a dozen women who are at the door trying to knock it down. And so, and you know, no, she can't just walk back in because she used to do it and she won four. No, no, no. She can get knocked out. And so I'm, I'm, I'm fired up. I'm ready for sports today. Not, not next week. Today.
Michael Wilbon
All right, I'll talk to you later. Thanks. Michael Wilbon. Boys and girls, we will take a break. Steve Sands will join us when we return.
Tony Kornheiser
I'm Tony Kornheiser.

This is the Tony Kornheiser show.
Tony Kornheiser
Once again this is Derek Salman. Derek is from Green Bay land because.
Michael Wilbon
He says go pack. Go back near Milwaukee.
Michael
Yeah, these are quite good.
Tony Kornheiser
It's a cheesehead. Derek Solomon's very good. This is a song called T shirt Weather. Michael, if People like Derek Salman want to send in their original music that we can play. How do they do it?
Guest or Caller
Send us your music by emailing it to jinglesonyconizershow.com and if it's t shirt weather, use the code TKC SAND and check out the pocket less TE's from johnnyo.com and in preparation of the new season, go get your NFL gear. Their new partners with Johnny O. I.
Michael Wilbon
Love their T shirts. Oh, I do. I, I don't like pockets on T shirts. I'm that guy.
Tony Kornheiser
But I love their T shirts anyway. Derek Salman plays in Steve Sands, who.
Michael Wilbon
Yesterday was in Caves Valley, a course that I know well played a bunch of times. I'm always sort of thrilled when a course that I know is, is on television.
Tony Kornheiser
And, and this was, I'll just start out by saying that like at some point on the back nine, to me.
Michael Wilbon
It seemed like a tournament that nobody really was trying to win. Scotty scheffler had missed three or four, what seemed to be very makeable birdie putts. McIntyre had had a tough day, had early on in the round, three bogeys in the first five holes, had given up the lead. Didn't seem to be challenging for it. Every time you looked at like Sam burns or Maverick McNeely, they were hitting a shot that took him out of a birdie situation. And then the lightning strikes and you're there. I don't want to make too much of it because it's not a major, it didn't win a major, but boy, oh boy, when Scheffler chips in, that's just gigantic, is it not?
Steve Sands
Oh, it's huge. You know, there are signature moments in every athlete's, you know, life, you know, especially the great, great, great ones. You remember the great throws, the great catches, the great shots, the great pitches, the great at bats. Whatever the case may be. And in this case, I think we have a signature moment from Scotty. I know it wasn't a major, he's won four majors. He's won back to back players in his career as well. But that, that chip in felt like a signature moment. It just felt like something that was otherworldly. And the comparisons to Tiger are going to start happening, Tony. And you can fight him, not you personally, but we can fight them all we want. But this kid is off to a start in his career that is only comparable to what Tiger did for a little bit of a stretch in his career as well. And it's just amazing the difference between Scott right now and the next best player in the world. That is, to me, the only thing you can compare to Tiger is the fact that he is that much better right now than everybody else. It's pretty wild to watch.
Michael Wilbon
So, you know the notes that I take, that Scheffler has missed makeable birdie putts. He has a bogey. McIntyre is not bogeying any more holes. And the lead is only one shot with four holes to play. And you begin to have a concern that Scheffler is off his game and is not going to win. And then at 17, he does that and, and it's.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, it is a signature moment in.
Michael Wilbon
His career so far, but also it's, It's. That's the shot that the PGA Tour is going to put in every commercial.
Tony Kornheiser
That they do for the next year.
Michael Wilbon
Don't you think?
Steve Sands
Yeah, we might see that this week on NBC and Golf Channel at Eastlake at the Tour Championship. You know, it's just. It's just that kind of thing, I think. I don't know, man. Sports is so amazing to me, and I always wonder, is it better to have a dominant team or player or two? Like in tennis, you had the big three there for a while. Or is it better to have it all spread around where everybody has a shot every single time? And to me right now, in this particular sport, nobody's better than Scottie Scheffler. And when he plays well, you can forget it. And when he plays kind of a B, B plus game, you know, he's right there and usually comes through in the end. And that's what happened this week. He did not play his best golf, Tony. He certainly did not play as well as he's played in other wins and other events. And when he is able to just carve out the greatest players in the world, have an amazing ability all throughout time to take 70 twos and 70 threes and make them 70s and hang in there, and they take 69s and 70s and somehow turn them into 64s and 65s and they just pummel people. He didn't pummel anyone this week. He just kind of hung around, hung around, hung around, and then just was able to pounce at the end. And that's. That's a sure sign to me in this particular sport of just pure greatness.
Michael Wilbon
So I am one of those people. I had this conversation yesterday with the socialite. We were sitting in the same golf cart and I had this conversation, and it was before we knew what was going on in the tournament. And I Said, look, I don't expect McIntyre to go out like he went out in the first two rounds because nobody came close to that. But I said, I said, alan, he, he stared at Scheffler yesterday, meaning Saturday they played 18 together and when they walked off, he was still up by the same amount that he was when they walked onto the course. So I don't expect him to gag. I thought he would win. And then early on, three bogeys in the first four holes, right? And they're tied at after the fifth hole.
Tony Kornheiser
That surprised me.
Michael Wilbon
Did it because I was with the birdie putt he made on 18 on Saturday. I thought that was the momentum he needed.
Steve Sands
I totally agree. I, by the way, one of the highlights of the week, after seeing everybody who we know in Maryland, and it was so much fun to be back in the area relatively, to see the socialite of Nancy walking around sweating their butts off on Friday was just, was just phenomenal. You know, it's 90,000 degrees, a billion percent humidity, and here's Alan and Nancy walking out, just smiling and laughing, having a good time. It was great to see them. It was a nice quick visit. Look, I think with McIntyre, it's fascinating. Stephen Yeager, I remember telling you this before the Masters, or maybe it was at the Masters. Steven Yeager beat Scotty Scheffler a year ago at the PGA Tour event in Houston. So this past year as the defending champion, I was talking to him on Wednesday on the practice putting green before the first round in Houston, and I asked him about playing with Scotty and how intimidating Scotty is. And Jaeger said something I'll never forget. He said he doesn't intimidate you with his personality or his prowess or even his presence because he's such a nice guy, such a congenial guy, an easy guy to play with. But what he does do is he intimidates you with his greatness. So when McIntyre hits the, you know, hits a drive on the first tee, obviously he's nervous. He has a four shot lead. I thought like you did, Tony, when he made that long putt from 41ft for birdie on Saturday to extend the lead to four, I thought, okay, that that's four shots, a lot of shots. Yeah, I'm not saying it's over, but four shots a lot gives him a lot of breathing room. Well, hit it in the right rough on one. Scheffler pipes are right down the middle. Makes the birdie putt at one before McIntyre even has his par putt. So you're just talking about an amazing Turnaround there after 15 minutes. And what happens in that case is the guy who's the lesser player and Bobby McIntyre is a world class player, but he's the lesser player in this case. What happens in that case is he tightens up and then he boge it a couple more holes and all of a sudden on the fifth, like you said, they were tied on the seventh hole. On the seventh hole, Tony, Scotty had to lead. Well, I mean, not that it was over from there, but it's just so hard to catch Scotty when you have him at bay. You have to keep him at Bay. And McIntyre did not do that yesterday early on.
Michael Wilbon
So I did mention this as well to my son Michael who was on the line and I was doing the show with us and I said that, that that was my theory as to why McIntyre would win. And Michael said to me, there's a real big difference staying even with somebody the first day and then doing it again the second day.
Guest or Caller
Right?
Steve Sands
I mean, yeah, that's, it's 100%. That's the other thing, Tony, is that the dynamic yesterday was interesting. I was talking to K Kurt Byron about this on the air when we were on the air yesterday, that the familiarity that Scotty now had with McIntyre, who by the way is a. Not a slow player by any means, but he's a deliberate player, especially on the greens with his routine for putting. You know, Scotty got his rhythm down, Scotty got his cadence down. And you know, Scott, it's not that he was measuring him up, but if you think of, remember the old days when Sugar Ray Leonard used to win fights in the last like 20 seconds of every round?
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Steve Sands
He used to kind of hang around, hang around, hang around and then you just a flurry of punches and then all of a sudden Sugar Ray Leonard would win the round. Well, Scotty has an amazing ability to measure up guys, and that's what he did yesterday. After playing with him on Saturday, he did it again on Sunday. That's what made last week in Memphis so interesting. The same scenario took place. Justin Rose had a birdie putt on Saturday to get into that final group with Tommy Fleetwood. Now Tommy Fleetwood ended up not winning, I understand that, but to play with Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood admitted, was a lot better and a lot easier than playing with Scottie Scheffler right now. Well, that didn't happen to Robert McIntyre on Friday. Scheffler is the one who played his way late into that final group on Saturday. So now he's got his eyes on him. He measured them up, and then he got him again on Sunday, and that was enough for Scheffler to just be able to just take care of business.
Michael Wilbon
So there was one. There was some drama, and they kept doing it. And I thought that NBC did this very wisely, showing us the last four in and the first four out. I really like that. All day. I felt badly for Rickie Fowler, who had a wonderful result in the tournament.
Tony Kornheiser
Right.
Michael Wilbon
Like, I know he had those. He had a bogey and then a double. But he was minus for a tournament where a lot of guys weren't minus, and yet he did not make it. What did you think of that?
Steve Sands
Yeah, I totally agree. I, you know, Ricky. How about Michael Kim? Victor Hovland is playing with Michael Kim. Michael Kim has never been to the Tour Championship in his life. And Victor hovland won the FedEx Cup a couple of years ago. Victor Hovland, for. It meant nothing to him other than FedEx cup points and a couple of dollars. So truly, it meant nothing to him. If he doesn't make that birdie PUTT at the 18th, Michael Kim is going to the Tour Championship instead of, you know, another player instead of Akshay Bati, actually. So I felt bad for Ricky because Ricky played well. But I think people need to understand about golf. You can shuffle in and out pretty quickly. And I think people think that Ricky's kind of gone away here. That's not necessarily the case. He was on the Ryder cup team in 23. He played in the Tour Championship in 23. Now he missed it last year and he's missing the Tour Championship this year, but he's right there on the edge as far as in that 25 to 35 range. It's not as if Rickie Fowler has gone away. So I'm happy for Ricky that he had a decent season and a decent playoff run. Would have loved to have seen him get there to next week because he's such a popular figure in the sport. And by the way, he's such a nice kid as well. But he's working hard and he's getting better. And I think Rickie Fowler is going to have a pretty good 20, 26 campaign.
Michael Wilbon
I'll get you out of here on this because it's.
Tony Kornheiser
It just interests me.
Michael Wilbon
It's arbitrary that it's the top 30. It could be the top 40, it could be the top 25, it could be any number they want it to be. Why is it 30 and are you okay with it.
Steve Sands
I'm okay with the 30 because the 30 has always been the number at the Tour Championship. Kind of gives itself a good number as far as, face it, tv, entertainment, enough tea times where hospitality tents are filled in East Lake next week and, you know, that kind of thing. If you had like eight or nine or 10 players, you know, it wouldn't be, you know, a full event, if that makes any sense. Kind of like Kapalu at the beginning of the year. In the old days, you had to have around 30 guys to make it at least feel like a tournament. I don't mind the 70 getting in. It makes it more difficult. You know, you could argue in other team sports, Tony, that are there too many teams in the playoffs. Has the NBA, you know, playing thing worked as the extra, you know, number one seed in the NFL the last few years getting a buy and not the two seed getting the buy and adding an extra wild card game. Has that hurt the playoffs or helped? I mean, as a fan, it's helped. It's great to have another game. The college football playoffs expanded. So I don't mind 70 players. Only 100 players keep their card. You know, at the beginning of the year, it was 125. Now it's down to 100. Now it's 70. Last week was 50 guys and this week in Atlanta will be 30. I don't mind that at all. It is a random number, but I think there's a. There's a method to the madness as far as how many people they put in that Tour Championship all those years ago. And I think keeping that tradition is very good.
Michael Wilbon
Well, enjoy yourself and we will talk to you from Atlanta, I'm sure. Have a good time. Thank you, Steve.
Steve Sands
Appreciate it, Tony.
Michael Wilbon
Steve Sands, boys and girls. We will take a break. We will come back with email and jingle.
Tony Kornheiser
I am Tony Kornheiser.

Our thanks to Pat Vaz. We like that very much. You want to do the Bethesda Bagel ad for us?

Yes, Bethesda Bagels. We love them. You will as well. Just go to Bethesda Bagels.com for the location in the DC area nearest you. Then pop on in and you'll be thrilled.
Tony Kornheiser
That'll do it for us today before he gets to the mailbag. Let me just say, Don Corleone, I am honored and grateful that you have invited me to your daughter's wedding. On the day of your daughter's wedding. And I hope that their first child will be a masculine child. I pledge my never ending loyalty. Luca Brazzi. Let's hear it for Luca. Thanks to our guest today, Michael Wilbon. Steve Sands, thanks as well to today's sponsors. Remember, you can listen to us on Apple podcast, Spotify and Odyssey. If you get show through Apple, please leave us a review. So we made a mistake. We couldn't help it. We got this from Todd Hart. It was time sensitive, but yes, we blew it.
Michael
Well, we didn't get too late.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, Todd Hard here. Yeah, that Todd Hart from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Big news. No offense to Norwegian soft kitten, but your other favorite band from the University of Missouri, the Post sex nachos, will be throwing out the first pitch at the Cardinals Yankee game on August 17th at Busch Stadium.
Michael Wilbon
So how much did we miss by a couple of days?
Michael
A couple of days?
Tony Kornheiser
Not by much. Come wish the hometown heroes a hearty leches re and see if these nachos can throw some cheese as the two storied franchises do get out of bush. So we missed that. I apologize for that.
Michael
Well, the problem is we're not open on the weekends.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. So that's it. So sorry about that. Also to Vincent Joseph Petralia. Yes, you can be whatever you want to be on this show. So happy that you listened to the show, Vinnie. Thank you very much. And from Lee Gordon in Boynton Beach, Florida. When my Summer of littles co host Jeff Turner had to back out due to a family commitment, I fully expected to spend the afternoon alone. But then a fellow came to my table in Boca Raton and inquired, kornheiser. Naturally, I replied with leches. I quickly found out how appropriate that greeting was. My new friend turned out to be David Sands, brother of Stephen Michael Sands.
Michael
How about that?
Tony Kornheiser
A very nice guy. We had a pleasant day. And they say he sent a picture. And he said, p S. I'm a year younger than Tony. I shoot my age all the time. And then I try to do it.
Michael Wilbon
Again on the back nine, which is funny.
Tony Kornheiser
It's a lovely picture. We appreciate that.
Michael
Professional stand up comedian Michael Sands.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, and.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
And. And to Abraham in Silver Spring. Yeah, you're right. I. I know you. I should be a guest on this.
Michael Wilbon
Person'S show, but I'm not going to be because I'm not a guest on anybody's show. I don't.
Tony Kornheiser
I just sort of don't do that. I don't do that. From Jonathan Shupanski in Beltsville, Maryland. The other week, the woman to whom I'm related by marriage, my teenager and I got some ice cream at Max's Best Ice Cream in Bethesda. There was a line out the door to get in, so he thought it must be good. And it was. They had the usual flavors, plus a list of some that were more unique. Flash forward a week and we're on the familiar drive to Rehoboth. We stopped at Vanderwyn's for our beach lunch and noticed that the flavors were list was the same as Max's. I consulted the infinite knowledge of the Internet and lo and behold, Maxes get their ice cream from Vanderwyn.
Michael Wilbon
Didn't we say that a couple of months ago? Did.
Michael
Was this knowledge already known?
Michael Wilbon
Yes, we talked about great stuff.
Tony Kornheiser
Now you don't need to make that two hour drive across the Bay Bridge to get some excellent ice cream. When you're back in the dmv, tell Chris Martin and Brian Fox to eat it. Yeah, we talked about that. Brian Moyer I've got the solution for those grilled vegetables and I think Michael will appreciate this too. You've got to try the seasoning from Seasoning Meat Church Fajita Seasoning. Meat Church is a brand from Waxahachie, Texas.
Michael Wilbon
Isn't that Richie's hometown?
Michael
Waxahachie?
Tony Kornheiser
Isn't that his hometown? Not sure. The owner, Max Pittman, puts out an amazing lineup of seasonings. Holy Cow, the Gospel, Holy Voodoo, just to name a few. Plus he even puts out easy to follow grilling and smoking recipes that never miss, even for Kirkchin. I do a lot of cooking for large groups down here on the lake and Meat Church never misses. I guarantee you the Fajita seasoning will be the perfect touch on any vegetable you put on the grill. And that's from Missouri. So Michael, let's get. See if we can get some of that.
Guest or Caller
Yeah, I think that seasoning is locally available at Stroessneiders.
Michael Wilbon
Good.
Tony Kornheiser
Rick Smith, Lexington, Kentucky. Sorry your squash didn't turn out well. I'm sure lots of messages had great tips, but I'll add mine. I brush good olive oil onto bits onto the sides of a split piece of squash or zucchini, then season liberally with whatever you prefer. Salt and pepper does well, but I use a blend that also contains some citrus elements as well as some garlic. Put it directly on the grill turn. Once it won't require a lot of time if the grill is on at a good temperature. Hope it turns out well the next time.
Michael Wilbon
So that would be good.
Michael
By the way, you are 100% right. Richie grew up in Waxahachie.
Guest or Caller
Yeah.
Michael Wilbon
Wow.
Tony Kornheiser
Elliot olshansky Del Mar, NY I'm sorry to hear that you can only get one BLT a year from the tomatoes you grow in your garden. But look at this way, you can always get them to make you one at the Palm. Best regards from Albany county, where I've been making the egg salad sandwiches for my elder masculine child's camp lunches. You know, in case anyone's been wondering who made the egg salad sandwiches. Yes, the whole family had a great time at the Summer Littles event hosted by Kevin McCabe at Saratoga Racecourse. We even got to meet Chuck and Roxy. That's great. If any Littles were on the fence about going to a Summer of Littles event this year, don't hesitate to go in 2026 from Don Fletcher Senior in Edgewater, Maryland. Pay attention kids. You never know when you're going to have to cook squash for a hundred guys someday. Take your squash, cut it into quarter to half inch rounds. Throw it in a Ziploc with a quarter cup of olive oil. Throw in all your salt, pepper and.
Michael Wilbon
A quarter cup of garlic powder. Throw it on a hot grill for.
Tony Kornheiser
Four minutes on each side. Take it off, throw in a bowl with some butter and a little more salt. Put it on a platter and drizzle with some store bought balsamic glaze. Give it a taste and bada bing you drip it all over your Ivy League soup.
Michael Wilbon
It's wonderful.
Tony Kornheiser
Mitch Barnett oh, I heard Michael pondering the importance of the dew point when discussing the return of oppressive humidity to the D.C. region. Dew Point is the most underrated metric in everyday meteorology. Allow me to explain. Dew point is the measure of moisture in the atmosphere. When the dew point and air temperature are equal, you have 100% relative humidity. The air temperature can never be lower than the dew point. The dew point can be used as a precursor to what the expected overnight low may be. Last week we had dew points hovering around 60, a welcome change from the mid to upper 70s in July. Today we're back above 75, which is why you feel that stifling wall of air as soon as you leave your air conditioned house. Here's a nice chart for our friends at NOAA that break it down and so that's and that's he's from Mitch's in Chantilly, Virginia. So that's very nice. That is Paulie Coconuts the Road Stories from Norwegian Soft Kitten are great. Keep them coming.
Michael Wilbon
I have nothing to do with them.
Tony Kornheiser
As a fellow bassist with Mission Road, I remember most of what we do on the road, but it don't hold a candle to tales of you and the kitten. Rock on, my friend. Rock on. And includes a picture of himself, of course. Charlie Bird, Springfield, Virginia I finally finished the fabulous Billy Joel documentary. Any reason why he completely skipped over the period where you were playing bass for him? Charlie In a recent interview with Bill Maher, Joel mentions his favorite band in 1968 was the Young Rascal. Sadly, he did not bother to name any of the members.
Michael Wilbon
Big shot indeed.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, this is from John Jordan in Clinton, Tennessee. I've been a loyal little since 2001. I introduced my dad, a bank president also named John Jordan, to your show on a road trip to barbecue school in Georgia in 2016. We've discussed the show hundreds of times in the following years. I've mostly been a good son, but I've disappointed my father most on two occasions. The first was when I announced in my early 20s that I hated playing golf and declined further participation in family golf outings. But the ultimate disappointing disappointment occurred a year and a half ago while visiting my parents in Florida. My dad happily put on the TK show for us to listen while running errands. Thirty seconds in, I said, hey, do you mind not playing that? I'm behind and I don't like listening to the shows out of order. The look he gave me lasted only three seconds, but in those three seconds I saw his utter disgust and my fall from favorite son to family pariah. My dad no longer calls me. I call him. He no longer signs birthday cards. My mom signs for him. The ultimate indignity occurred this week when, after almost two years, my dad call. He wanted to let me know my high school friend Clark Gross had another email read on the TK pot and it was about golf. He stated how great it was that Clark was a single handicap golfer who was also a TK listener. Tony, only you can save my inheritance when my dad's 75th birthday coming up. Will you make my dad, John Jordan, the official retired bank president of the Tony Kornheiser show? Also, please tell Clark Gross from Knoxville to eat it. That's a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful email from Adam Nam Nam. Greetings from Shenyang, China. In the northeastern part of the country, in the region formerly known as Manchuria, Shenyang is the hometown of the woman to whom I'm related by marriage and she my 10 year old son and I have been here visiting her family for the past several weeks. My joke for years is that I only have to visit my in laws once a year, but it's a hell of a trip. As dawn gets later and you are either now or soon will be taking chessy for morning walks in the dark, you may be interested to know that the People's Republic in China is all one time zone. Despite the country being about 3,000 miles wide, the same as the continental United States. The Communist Party made it so shortly after assuming power in 1949 to promote unity. What this means is that northeastern China the sun is still rising before 5am even now in mid August. First light today, August 14th was an even earlier 4:23am the parks are filled with joggers, walkers and folks practicing Tai Chi at times. People in other countries are now cursing the darkness. You could be one of them, but it would entail a long commute. On the flip side, the sun doesn't rise until about 9:15 in December in the western part of China. But a we don't come to China over the holidays and b if we did, we would stick to the i95 portion of the country here in the East. Please tell my White Plains in New York homie and fellow lifelong Mets fan Jason Friedman to eat it. Best Best regards, Adam now so isn't that nice? Bobby Bobby Godfrey As I'm sure you're aware as a lover of the English language, the Scrabble Players Championship took place this week right here in Maryland at the Live Hotel Casino in Hanover, Maryland. Why do I bring this to your attention? Because the greatest Scrabble player of all time, Nigel Richards finished third, just missing the finals. The finals was the best of five affair in which last year's champion Mac Miller lost a first time finalist, a new champion, Nigel Peltier. I can see, I think you can see why I'm sending this email with two Nigels in the top three. It begs the question, why isn't our favorite Nigel competing and dominating the Scrabble word when his name indicates he should be at the top? It's a good question. Do you have any answer?
Michael
I'm not very good at Scrabble.
Guest or Caller
It's a different dictionary.

Captain Tony, you're not alone in your appreciation of an amazement at the recent full moon. On most mornings I leave the house under cover of darkness to coach Rowan Cruz, the crew team. But last Saturday morning I found the backyard bathed in a peculiar yellow orange light, looking for its source. I turned the corner expecting to see a new street lamp or perhaps a klieg light being used by an early morning road crew. Instead, I stood in awe of what I later learned was the sturgeon moon, so named for the abundant fish at this time of year in the Great Lakes, back when the full moon naming rights were being auctioned off.
Michael Wilbon
It's funny.
Tony Kornheiser
You want a tan, I'm your man. Said moon was even more stunning as it made its way towards the horizon above the river. If it's not already taken. Can I be the official rowing coach? Yeah.
Michael Wilbon

And we all sing out Wa this feels like home. Home Wa this feels like home. Home Wa oh this feels like home. Home Wa oh, oh. This feels like home. Out on the rocks still climbing up the high hills. Feel your heart beat. Don't fall for the cheap thrills. You would never want to let it all crumble down. This is what you came for. Eyes on the prize now. Live for the feeling of being unpredictable. Never be the one to let your fear control you. Take a minute when you get there. Feel it in your blood. Join the few who live what they're dreaming of. We are Sing out Wa this feels like home. Home Wa this feels like home. Remember why you did this Every everything that you don't miss. Tik Tok on the clock Give up when your heart stops. You were never meant to live someone else's dream. Their dream. Take a minute when you get there. Feel it in your blood. Join the few who live what they're dreaming of. We are Sing out What are W W this feels like home. Home. This feels like home. This feels like home. This feels like home. Feels like home. Feels like home. When we all sing out. Whoa whoa. This feels like home. And we all sing out. This feels like home.

Oh. Winter I hung this song. Feeling like a bird inside a cage. Then one morning everything changes. And I know this year will never be the same. Run to the windows, peek behind the curtains. And I know this is what I'm waiting for. Let's go outside it's T shirt weather. Cause I wanna sing. Papa, let's go outside? It's T shirt weather? Sunshiny days? It's T shirt weather? Bring on the rain, I'll accept anything but snow? Sick and tired of seeing folks? Dressed up like Eskimos? And the sunshine gets brighter as we go? Whoa, whoa? Step outside the front door? Feel the air kiss my skin? Oh, yeah? This is what I'm waiting for? Let's go outside? It's T shirt weather? I want to sing? Let's go outside? It's T shirt sunshiny days? It's T shirt weather? Step outside the front door? Feel the sun kiss my skin? Oh, yeah? This is what I'm waiting for? Let's go outside? It's T shirt weather? And I wanna sing? Let's go outside? It's T shirt weather? Sunshiny.

This episode of The Tony Kornheiser Show is quintessential TK: starting with sports (the Nationals' series, MLB playoff races, NFL preseason, BMW Championship in golf), yet filled with personal stories and pointed rants, notably a lengthy segment where Tony details the difficulties of finding veterinary care for his injured dog during a summer weekend in Delaware. Regular guest Michael Wilbon joins throughout, and later NBC’s Steve Sands weighs in on the BMW Championship and the greatness of Scottie Scheffler. The episode is rich with wit, personal experience, sports knowledge, and TK’s trademark exasperation with modern inconveniences.

On veterinary woes:
“What do you mean a veterinarian is closed on Saturday and Sunday? These are animals. They can't tell you what's wrong with them… I assume you become a veterinarian because you love animals… So what are you doing being closed on Saturday and Sunday?”
— Tony Kornheiser (05:56)
On the Bears’ hype train:
“We’ve got an embarrassment of riches… all of that was on display in that first drive, which is what mattered. The Bears got the ball at their seven or eight, and in about six plays went 92, 93 yards. Zip, zip, zip, zip, zip…”
— Michael Wilbon (16:09)
On sports with packed stadiums:
“It makes the game so much more exciting when the place is full… Not just the people behind home plate in the fancy seats. And it’s full. And it’s tense. And passionate.”
— Wilbon (27:12, 27:29)
On Scheffler’s BMW moment:
“That chip-in felt like a signature moment. It just felt like something that was otherworldly. And the comparisons to Tiger are going to start happening, Tony.”
— Steve Sands (33:15)
A classic Tony Kornheiser Show mix: sports news and analysis, very human stories, and grumpy-old-man takes on the small indignities of modern life. The show is both deeply informed and warmly familiar, full of in-jokes for regular listeners but accessible and engaging for newcomers, especially those interested in how personal life and sports fandom intersect.
