Hi, it's Tony. On today's show, we'll talk about a great weekend of football with Michael Wilbon. And we will preview the college football championship with PAT40. But first, let's do some commerce, kids. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser Show. Here's a riddle for you. What do yoga mats, a toothbrush and a Hyundai have in common? I'll give you a moment. Time's up. If you guess, they're all fun, well designed, super useful, you guessed wrong. The answer is you can order all all those things on Amazon. That's right, you can now buy a Hyundai on Amazon. The same place where you order yoga mats, a toothbrush and pretty much everything else, all from the comfort of your home. And the best part, you won't even have to break down a car sized Amazon box after because you'll pick up your Hyundai at the dealer. I mean, picture this. You're in your PJs, snuggled in on your couch. You pull up Amazon on your phone and you start the process right there. You locate a nearby dealer, pick your color, your options, check the price, and with a few dotting of some I's and crossing of some T's, voila, your Hyundai is ready for pickup. It's that easy. Just remember to put on some real clothes before you head over, will you? Hyundai now available on Amazon. Visit HyundaiUSA.com or call 562-314-4603 for more details. Limited availability only through participating Hyundai dealers in select markets.

If your equipment is so sophisticated that you can tell hour by hour what I'm using, tell me where I'm using it. Like, maybe you're 100% right again, I know I'm going to have to pay it. And in fact, if I don't pay it like in an hour, it's going up 30 bucks for late fees.
Pat 40
It was like a Rehoboth water situation just so.
Jason
Just tell me a neighbor plugging in A generator?
Pat 40
Maybe it was the guy that came over to watch the game.
Tony Kornheiser
What did he do? Did he steal my electricity? Did he carry it off in his pocket?
Jason
He's got a portable charger. Was there an extension cord?
Tony Kornheiser
The Tony Kornizer show is on now. There's more to this story. But wait, there's more to this story. I mailed the Pepco bill in with a check, so they're gonna get that by Wednesday or Thursday.
Jason
Do you include a handwritten note?
Tony Kornheiser
I did not include a handwritten note. I am in contact with somebody who works with Pepco's communication team. And we are endeavoring to chat and to, for example, resolve why this is going on. But when my power went out, did I tell the story of my power going out? Don't think I did, no.
Pat 40
Because it was after Friday show.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. Yeah, my power went out on Friday. It was out for three hours. My power in my house. Jason, who walks Chessy, believes I was targeted, believes Pepco wanted to take out my power. But other people on the street lost power too. But that's easily explained. That's the COVID right? You know, other people, not just Tony. Collateral damage Tony. Yeah. Then we had Samuel McLaughlin come over with a Pepco truck. And after three hours, everything was restored. And Samuel was a lovely fellow, and I was very grateful for his hard work traipsing around in the woods to find the boxes and do everything you're supposed to do. And I thought maybe that was the end of it. Michael, do you want to continue the story?
Jason
At around 2:20 yesterday, our family's looking forward to an afternoon of snowy football. All of a sudden, the lights go dark.
Pat 40
Oh, no.
Jason
The lights go dark.
Tony Kornheiser
It's targeting.
Jason
We had seen a Pepco truck on our street early that morning. Thought nothing of it.
Pat 40
Where's Michael live? Yeah, there it is.
Jason
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
Clip the line.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Jason
Search the two Cornheisers in the dmv. Thank you very much. I drive over to Tony's house thinking this is gonna be resolved quickly. But I have to get into the vehicle to try and find is. I can't find it. I go a block behind us. Lights on. I go by the Pepco truck. They're watching the Eagles game in the truck. These are scout trucks. These are not the bucket trucks that are getting anything done. And you go to the app and every 20 minutes, it just repopulates and goes. Estimated time of resolution, 6pm set. Now we're getting into the evening game, which is problematic. Sun's going down. We're trying to figure out, do we have to leave the house for dinner? We do baths early just to make sure that is taken care of.
Tony Kornheiser
Just to say I offered my home and my food and everything else. They declined.
Jason
How's the Coqavan?
Tony Kornheiser
Coqavan was very good. Yeah. Yeah, it was very good. So now we think it's this total targeting thing. And then Michael's power gets fixed, and then all the streetlights on my street go out. They don't go out at one time. They just don't come on. So I call now. I don't know that that is a Pepco problem, per se. Pepco may help with it, but that's a D.C. problem.
Jason
Right.
Tony Kornheiser
Those. Those lights are manned by the District of Columbia. So I do what you're supposed to do. I call three one one, which is the District hotline. Yeah. And I get someone and I explain the situation. And this person doesn't. Doesn't ask my name, doesn't give me, as she was supposed to do, a ticket number, you know, so I can say, yes, I'm the one who called this in. And how are we doing? Yeah.
Pat 40
Reference number.
Tony Kornheiser
Nothing. Yeah. She basically says, who cares about you? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And gets off the phone and they're not out. They're not on yet. The lights are not on yet. So maybe.
Jason
It's amazing how quickly you realize when. When the streetlights do not go on.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. It changes the whole. It does.
Pat 40
Credibly dark. And it's amazing how cold the house gets with the power in the winter.
Jason
My pizza dough supposed to rise at 64 degrees.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, it's tough. Yeah. And it's very, very cold here. Now, we did not get the amount of snow that was forecast, for which I am very grateful. Yes, we got the low end of it. Yeah, it came down in buckets for about an hour, but that was really it.
Jason
But it's very cold, as my app said it would.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, we are. And mine did not. And I was, you know, paying attention to the Capital Weather gang who were saying, yeah, it may not perform. May underperform. Fine. It's fine. I mean, I read that if that was something that I had to pay for, it would cost me more than my Pepco bill, because I read it almost constantly when there's a threat of weather. We are in that polar vortex. So today, tomorrow, and Wednesday, for certain, it will not get out of the teens. It's gonna be very, very, very cold. I had, like, 12 layers of clothing on this morning as I walked the dark streets, because the Lights aren't on. Although they are on near me. They are not on on my street or the adjoining street.
Pat 40
And very icy because whatever fell sort of like, turned into ice.
Jason
But you had the yak. You had the yak tracks.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, but they're breaking. I need to get another pair today.
Pat 40
Okay.
Tony Kornheiser
I need to get another pair of yak tracks today to put on my shoes.
Jason
Yeah, you're good at yakking.
Tony Kornheiser
I feel comfortable at that with those things. So hopefully I'll get some sort of resolution on my Pepco bill. We have the H Vac people coming over today because their suggestion was, it's my fault. I said this on the air. It's my fault. Yeah, my systems are bad. It's not. Not. It's not even remotely possible. Mom.
Jason
Just cranking the heat of one more degree.
Tony Kornheiser
When you own a company, you don't ever even concede that anything could be wrong. Right. You blame everyone else.
Jason
Well, I think the cameras in this, they have protocol. They can't concede anything because then you can take everything that's right.
Tony Kornheiser
So, you know, that's how that goes. I watched all the games. Every one of the four games was great.
Pat 40
It really was.
Tony Kornheiser
Every one was contested. Everyone had scoring. Everyone had drama. We will talk about them with Wilbond, everyone was great. In the circumstance of the Ravens and the Bills, which was the featured game, I had said on the PTI show on Friday, Mike was not there. It was Pablo. Mike was not there. I had said in anticipation of the game, look, I don't think that Buffalo can stop Baltimore. I just don't think they can. Baltimore has two great runners. They have the best running quarterback in the league in Lamar Jackson, and they have one. They have a Hall of Fame running back in Derrick Henry, who weighs 600 pounds, and they have 300 pounders up front. And Buffalo doesn't have that on their defensive line. Buffalo doesn't have big guys like that. And so I said the only. There's two. Only two ways that Buffalo can win this game. One way is if Baltimore make mistakes, if they turn the ball over, if they have interceptions and fumbles. They had two fumbles and one interception. All costly. All costly. Yeah. And the other thing I said was if Buffalo got a lead and maintained a lead, and Baltimore had to abandon the running game, which is exactly what happened at the end. But. And this is important, but Lamar Jackson was perfect on that drive. Yeah. Derrick Henry wouldn't have been any. Couldn't have been any better and would have taken more time. So Lamar Jackson, one of the things I thought was the loser, the losing quarterback was going to get pilloried. You cannot do it. Both Lamar Jackson, now in the first half, he had two bad turnovers, but he brought them back to the point where they're going to tie the game and go into overtime. And Josh Allen was, was exquisite, you know, so nobody gets pill.
Jason
He gets protected by what happens with a two point conversion and by how efficient he was in that final drive.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Pat 40
Felt like the AFC championship game should be.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Pat 40
I mean with the snow going, coming down. Just every. Yeah, yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
It was just two snow games. And what a comeback by the Rams. I.
Pat 40
Yes.
Tony Kornheiser
Are out of the game. Hopelessly out of the game. Like four minutes to go. They're down two.
Jason
I had to watch the start of the fourth quarter on gamecast while I'm at the stove. It does. When I finally watched it back, it does not. It does not convey any of the back and forth with those turnovers.
Tony Kornheiser
Just tremendous.
Pat 40
Yeah, I counted them out. It's like, of course you're not going to be able to come by L. A. You know, they don't know how to deal with the snow. And they were terrific.
Tony Kornheiser
That was great. They got beat by Saquon Barkley, you know, they got beat by the running backs.
Jason
Dead right.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Pat 40
I forget. He was drafted by the Eagles. Right. He's been with them his whole career now.
Tony Kornheiser
He left the Giants for the Eagles. And this is why I have said all year he should be mvp. While everyone else talks about Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen and briefly, Jared Goff had a bad game on Saturday. I've said Saquon Barkley should be MVP and I believe he should be.
Pat 40
Unbelievable. I do it. Two 60 plus yard runs for touchdowns.
Tony Kornheiser
99. Nine yards worth of running in the playoffs. The Washington football team. It's astonishing.
Jason
It's chaos.
Tony Kornheiser
It's amazing to me. I didn't think they'd win that game. But two things you have to understand about that. They're on the road. That's not even a part of it. Because you got to be on the road when you have a regular season. That's not as good as the other teams. Don't worry about that. Don't worry about being on the road. They won the turnover battle. Five nothing. Five nothing. Jared Goff had three picks and a fumble. Five nothing. You're not going to win if you're Detroit. Five nothing. They put 45 points on a team that had a 15, 2 record. 45 points. And afterwards the coach Dan Campbell, the coach of Detroit, had tears in his eyes. He was crying. He said, it's my fault. You have to love that guy. You have to love that guy for getting up there and saying that you love the sentiment.
Jason
I don't think you necessarily love the clock management or some of the play call when you get too clever by half with trick plays that lead to turnovers.
Tony Kornheiser
They were doing that all year long.
Pat 40
That's serious.
Tony Kornheiser
They were throwing the ball around in the backfield all year long.
Jason
Detroit, the commanders basically said, we understand that you will score on every drive. So we were just also going to score and take a little bit more time off the clock.
Pat 40
Rookie quarterback on the road didn't even appear, you know, that he was bothered by that in the least.
Tony Kornheiser
Awfully good. Yeah. Jaden Daniels. Awfully good. And in the other game, Kansas City showed its true colors. Jason Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
Jason
Travis.
Pat 40
Travis.
Tony Kornheiser
Travis. Kelsey Rather and Patrick Mahomes.
Unnamed Speaker
Who?
Tony Kornheiser
Travis Kelce has had his worst year.
Jason
Oh, that question was wearing his Holden Caulfield hat.
Tony Kornheiser
That's right. That's right. Don't get me started on Holden Caulfield. I've gone down a bad road with that before. Travis Kelce had his worst year in terms of receptions and yards and had a great game.
Pat 40
Boy, was he great.
Tony Kornheiser
Now, can I ask a question? Because I don't know the answer to this. It appeared to me and Houston played better than I thought by the way.
Pat 40
They hung in there.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. It appeared to me when they showed cutaway shots of Taylor Swift. Was that Caitlin Clark next to her? Yeah, that's who it looks like to me. Yeah, I was. I said to Carol, I think that's Caitlin Clark. And I didn't have the. Either I didn't have the sound on or I didn't know.
Jason
T. Swift has some height as well.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, yeah. She's six feet tall as well.
Pat 40
Oh, yeah. She's five, 10, at least. Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
And Caitlin Clark's six feet tall. Yeah.
Pat 40
No, that's definitely. That was definitely Kate and Clark.
Tony Kornheiser
That's what I thought.
Pat 40
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
What? And I thought, what? How did that happen? What is she doing in there? What would be her affiliation? A girl from Iowa. Would she root for the Kansas City Chiefs or would she root for the Indianapolis Colts?
Pat 40
I would have. One would think the Colts, but, you know, maybe she's.
Tony Kornheiser
Or the Chicago Bears.
Pat 40
Look that up. See if she is.
Tony Kornheiser
But that was Caitlin Clark.
Pat 40
Oh, it definitely was Caitlin Clark.
Tony Kornheiser
She's set up for every concert she wants now. Yeah, she's Taylor Swift.
Jason
So apparently she's been a lifelong Chiefs fan.
Tony Kornheiser
Is that right? Wow. Wow.
Pat 40
She likes matriculating the ball down the field.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes, she does. She does indeed. So all of that was fine. Let me read one thing here. This is from Will Smith. Not that Will Smith. Gentlemen. When PTI began, they had a couple key interns, Reali Stat Boy and Josh Maurer. I hired Josh Maurer years ago to be a broadcaster for the Trenton Thunder. He moved on to greater success and now calls games for the Brewers. Anyway, I thought might be a thing if you were interested to hear him talk about Bob Euchre, PTI, etc. Sad days. It's another incomparable baseball guy that we will never see again. And he gives me Josh Maurer's number. I did check in with Josh when I heard the news of Euchre's passing. I mentioned nothing about the show, but I'm sure he'd be happy to participate. If you're interested, I'll hang up and listen. I am very aware of Josh Maurer. And every time Josh is in town for whatever he used to do, including University of Massachusetts basketball, where he became a broadcaster, he always came by the studio. Love Josh Maurer. He was our original and first intern. Reali was not an intern. Reali was on staff. Josh Maurer was an intern. He does indeed broadcast Milwaukee brewers games. And I'll tell you a small story about it. One of the deals when he got the job, and he was the least senior person in terms of the pecking order there, and he'd be on the air and they would say, look, Josh Euclid likes to eat dinner. He likes to take a couple of innings off at every home game. He didn't like to eat alone, so go eat with him. And Josh Maurer said, all the time. All the time. Go eat with him. And Josh Maurer said, this is the greatest thing that ever happened in his life. He gets to sit with Bob Uecker and eat dinner all the time, and.
Pat 40
They treat us as a burden. You get stuck with this kid.
Tony Kornheiser
Are you kidding me?
Pat 40
What an amazing thing.
Tony Kornheiser
Just great. Just great.
Jason
Sure, there are a lot of lulls in the conversation.
Pat 40
Yeah. You really did have struggled to tell the story.
Tony Kornheiser
Well, I'm sure Josh just said, and. And. And just like that, it's great. We'll take a break. Michael Wilbon when we return. I'm Tony Kornheiser.
Michael Wilbon

Michael Wilbon
Is the Tony Korneiser Show.
Tony Kornheiser
This is a band called Whatever Penny. It's Eric Stirr from Lawrence, New Jersey, who writes attached to my final two songs for my EP before the Astronauts have Gone to Bed. What a great name that is.
Pat 40
Isn't that a great album?
Tony Kornheiser
As I've said in previous emails, I appreciate all the exposure and support you've given to myself and other independent artists on your show over the years. While not explicitly mentioned in any of the lyrics, please note both of these songs are really just dedications to Kevin Sheehan's Winter Weather forecast brought to you by Arby's. Thanks for all the entertainment. You can find these songs and more under the name Whatever Penny on all major streaming platforms. This is called Lost in Time. Plays in Mike Wilbon and like me, Wilbon watched every one of those four games, each game, and we'll take them in order. Each game was really entertaining. Each game was dramatic. Each game was fun to watch. Unlike, you know, the sort of college football first round, which was all garbage. Or not all garbage. One game, the Arizona State game, was good, but most garbage. So let's start with the with the Chiefs beating the Texans, they sacked CJ Stroud eight times. That was probably the least of the games, and it was itself a very good game. Mahomes and Kelce, who we hadn't seen much of in the regular season, Travis Kelce hadn't had much of a year. What did you think of that game?
Unnamed Speaker
Tony? I thought that that was the kind of game that reminded me from the Kansas City perspective of the old Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers, in their four Super Bowls in the 70s, they had kind of distinct personalities that were very different. Each team was different. You know, there were some teams that were led by the great Steel Curtain defense. There were some teams that were led by Terry Bradshaw and Lynn Swann and Frank O'Harris and Rocky Blair and John Stallworth and great offense. And so we've seen a little bit of everything from the Chiefs so far, and they haven't defended this one yet. But I just thought, wow, this is, this is what great teams Do. And people don't understand that. They just want to, you know, dive into the analytics. How many yards per catch? And I mean, no, no, no, no. Appreciate each team for what it does. And that was a dominant. That was a great defensive performance. It really was.
Tony Kornheiser
Spagnulo. I mean, you know, it's why they say in spags we trust. It's why they say it. He changes it all the time. And as I said, Kelsey had done very little most of the year. Yeah, except make commercials. He and his brother make every commercial. They don't do that known to mankind. Then we have the local game for us. Washington, 5, 0 in turnovers and put 45 points on a 15 and 2 team. That game was so great to watch, wasn't it?
Unnamed Speaker
The new. It was nuclear. It was nuclear. And, you know, it's interesting, you know, I had. I had more interest in that game. You have more interest because of one team. And that team, the Washington team, you know, is owned now and operated by four guys. There's more than four in their partnership. But four guys I know and three I know really well, and I know them and talk to them and listen to them and have heard over the year what it is that they were trying to do and what they expected to do and what they were surprised at and what was working. And I know that they are like, oh, my God, this is amazing. They're not naive about how difficult it is to win. Bob Myers being a guy who's a consultant and a very important person in their group, who ownership did all the right things. I mean, so often we're able to. When we ought to criticize the people who own operate teams because they're not doing the right thing. They're just rich. Well, these are rich guys who know what the hell they're doing with putting together this team, who to hire, who to bring a board, who to consult, when to listen, when is the out the way. They've done all of that. And that enables the people that they hired wisely to do their job on the field. The whole thing has come together in an amazing way. And yet for me, Tony, growing up where I grew up in the Midwest and you know, Detroit is a cousin for most people who grew up in Chicago. Almost all of us have relatives or close friends or some business with people in Detroit. And Detroit's a downtrodden place that has been trashed on a daily basis by the whole culture since 1968, at least the riots, then the collapse of the auto industry, and then just one thing. After Another, and I root for Detroit. And people may mistake this, say, wait a minute, you're a Bears fan. See, I root for the Lions. I root for Detroit. And so this was Detroit's moment. This was their season. And they. I have a sense of how depressed over this Detroit is. I don't. There's few times in my life covering sports, and I've been everywhere. I've been every market to watch somebody else's teams exalt in victory or be depressed. And I don't know that I know anywhere else in the United States of America where winning and losing hits like it hits Detroit right now with this Lions team. And this, this, this hit them. I tell you what else, Tony. There's a small thing in there. So for all the understandable reasons, one of those Washington owners are referring to is Irving Magic Johnson. On the weekends for 30 years, since magic's broadcast career started, I've often worked with him. And we sit around watching games. We're not like, talking about the NBA watch games on Sunday, you know, Johnson.
Tony Kornheiser
Grew up rooting for in Detroit. He's from. Went to Michigan State. Gotta be the Detroit Lions.
Unnamed Speaker
Gotta be Detroit Lions.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
And there's a post that Magic had, understandably and proudly, of his whole family, including his mom, wearing commander's jerseys before the game. And I just thought about. I haven't talked to Magic yet. I'm going to probably tonight. I just wonder how hard this was for him. I mean, he's. He's a historic figure in terms of NFL ownership. He's a historic figure in terms of sports in America. But he's also a Detroit Lions fan since he was a little boy. And so he knows all the suffering in that community related to that franchise, and yet he was on the other end of this. That's an enormous story that people don't tell stories anymore. They just want to analyze analytics. They don't actually look at the human drama of athletic competition. I'm going to do it and tell nobody because I don't have that platform anymore. But I just wonder how Magic feels in total about just a amazing, amazing game and victory for a team for which he is now part owner.
Tony Kornheiser
I wonder how Magic feels. I wonder how Dan Snyder feels. I wonder if he's rooting for Washington. I don't know. I will say this. The two things happen in the Saturday games that I thought were. One was very, very classy, and one made me, like, weak inside. The classy thing was when Houston took a knee on the last play so they couldn't win the game. They're down nine. They can't win the game. They took a knee and said, okay, we're not fooling around here. I thought that was classy. The other thing was Dan Campbell crying at the press conference afterwards, saying, it's my fault. It's my fault. I just was so moved by that. I mean, I don't know if he's a great coach, but I'll bet his players think he is. Don't you think?
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, I know. We know that. We know they think that. And again, Tony, that was reflective of what, the pain in Detroit. That was reflective of that. Dan Campbell lives there. He, you know, you know, he understands. Even if he doesn't, he can't absorb it fully. He hasn't lived there for 60 years like a native, you know, Michigan person coaching the team. But he feels. I'll tell you another one. Another moment for me was last night when. When Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen went directly to each other. Directly to each other, because they know and has embraced. They know Jackson talked specifically to Josh Allen. That was. That was the moment. I. I couldn't watch the Detroit post game. I couldn't. I couldn't. I don't want to watch.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, I watched that.
Unnamed Speaker
So.
But I. But I did watch a little bit of the aftermath of last night's game.
Tony Kornheiser
So we'll get to that. I'm just going to go in order. The Philly Rams game, far better than I thought. Far better than I thought. The critical. There's a critical fumble and then.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
And then Stafford, they're supposed to lose that game by 14 points and. And the Rams come back and they score. They get the ball. They're almost going to score again. Yeah, that was, you know, all I was thinking in my head was, oh, this is good for Washington. Oh, Washington can beat Philadelphia like they can beat Philadelphia. What did you. That game was so good. They came so close. It was the sack on third down that hurt them.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, it was just that. I wasn't relating it to anything or anybody else. If anything, I wonder what happens if Los Angeles wins. Where are they going to stage that game? Yeah, I wonder that if I'm sitting in my man cave in. In Scottsdale, Arizona Miles, where the Rams played their last home game. So it was just that. It was just the appreciation of the game, and I thought it would be even. I thought the Rams.
Tony Kornheiser
Going into the game, I thought the Rams would be blown out.
Unnamed Speaker
That kind of great. And the Rams are playing with inspiration. They're inspired. Speaking of human drama. We saw what they did the previous week.
Tony Kornheiser
It's exactly what I thought. There was nothing left.
Unnamed Speaker
Los Angeles.
Tony Kornheiser
I thought there was nothing left. And they just played great at the end. They played great. Yeah, they played great. And then we get to watch the game that everybody wants to watch most of all, and that is Baltimore. Buffalo. I thought after the first try, Baltimore was going to roll. I wrote you that. You said don't. Don't get carried away here, kid. And get carried away. Just a couple of small questions. You're up 5 with 331 to go. Do you go, you know, do you go for the field goal or do you go, you know, on fourth down, you remember that was 331 to go. I thought they did. I thought the field goal was the right thing. What did you think?
Unnamed Speaker
I thought it was, too. But the wrong thing was going for two earlier. There was too much time left in the game.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Unnamed Speaker
Kick the damn extra point. All these guys got. They have to outsmart them. So nobody has common sense anymore. They got to consult.
Tony Kornheiser
I agree with that. Why are you going there?
Unnamed Speaker
It was just stupid and it cost him. Look, as impressed as I was with Lamar Jackson, I'm on the verge. I'm on a cusp of being really tired of the Ravens. I root for the Ravens. I do. I root for them. You know. You know, you and I, early on in the tenure of his ownership, got no one like Steve Bushadi.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
Respect the work he does, the way he puts together a team, the way he treats a fan base, the way he interacts, we conduct himself as an owner. I like Steve Bachati. And I know I speak for you. I like Harbaugh. I like Lamar Jackson. I did. I just. I like the Ravens. I like the way they do business, but I'm on the verge of being tired of them. You know, just, you know, give it that effort that came forth in the second half. Like, give it some jump. Let's see that. And I don't think we saw it. And I feel bad for Mark Andrews.
Tony Kornheiser
Me, too. He's a Pro bowl tight end. He's a really good player. He makes a terrible fumble and then misses a wide open catch for the two. That sends you to overtime, Right?
Unnamed Speaker
Yes. And so I, you know, what do you. So now you got to go. We got to go another year with that whole storyline about the Ravens and Lamar Jackson and not winning. He drove them right down the field. They scored on their last four possessions.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. The second half, they were great. And what I'd said earlier in the show, you wouldn't have heard this, obviously, is that when I was on the PTI show on Friday, you were not there. Pablo was there. I said that. The inevitable thing, and it's sad and it's not right, but whoever loses this game between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen is going to be pilloried. And they're not. Lamar Jackson's not going to be because he went right down the field and didn't miss a pass. So even though his record gets worse in the playoffs, he did what you're supposed to do, right?
Unnamed Speaker
Yes. And I don't think that the other three teams can beat Kansas City.
Tony Kornheiser
You don't.
Unnamed Speaker
Only one of them is going to have two. Or two of them have two. No, I don't. I don't believe Buffalo could beat Kansas City. In Kansas City. I believe the Ravens could have beaten Kansas City, but I don't really think Buffalo. I think Buffalo just had its crusade game, maybe, and they won it and they're back. And maybe I'm wrong and I'm not rooting against Buffalo. I'm not speaking of fan bases and cities that have had a tough time.
Tony Kornheiser
Four losses.
Unnamed Speaker
Not Detroit. It's not. It's not Detroit.
Tony Kornheiser
No. Because they had the opportunity, but they lost four in a row.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, but I.
Tony Kornheiser
They had the greatest run in NFL history and they lost them all when. Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
And I don't think they can beat Kansas City. I just don't.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Unnamed Speaker
And I don't think. I don't think, you know, actually the team with the best chance to beat Kansas City.
Tony Kornheiser
Washington.
Unnamed Speaker
Washington.
Tony Kornheiser
It is. It is Washington. Sure. Because they can just throw it up and down the field and do all that stuff. I get you out of here on this. This is the reason we have an early PTI today. Ohio State. Notre Dame. You like Ohio State, I assume.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. Do you know college sports are different? I just sit around, you know, telling my son, you know, dad, Ohio State's gonna trash Notre Dame. And I said, hold on, Sparky.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
This is not. This is not the NBA. This is not a seven game series. Not baseball, not hockey. It's one game and it's college. And so it's college. Those Notre Dame kids, so many of those kids on Notre Dame know those kids on Ohio State, A lot of them. Look, both those schools recruit nationally. We went through the roster. A lot of those kids are from the Midwest and they've known each other. They played in all Star games against each other and with each other, and they know each other. They've been on the recruiting trail. They're not unfamiliar with each other and familiarity breeds upset. The Georgetown Hoyas, and I tried to explain this to him. The Georgetown Hoyas weren't going to lose to anybody else in America in 1985.
Tony Kornheiser
Except Villanuel.
Unnamed Speaker
Except Villanuel. No one else could beat them. Notre Dame can beat Ohio State. They can. I don't think they will, but they're going to. Tonight's their mission. Tonight is their crusade. And Notre Dame crusading that that is going to carry some. That is going to mean something. I don't know what Marcus Freeman will do or who he will call on to help him inspire his team, but that ought to be something that books are written about later. If Notre Dame wins, I know who.
Tony Kornheiser
Would do it in a heartbeat. Digger. Digger would go in the locker room and do it. And Digger has. And the reason I bring that up is not only do I know Digger would do it, Digger has beaten number one teams odds against. Beat ucla, ended a streak, beat San Francisco when they were undefeated. He's done that, Done that.
Unnamed Speaker
He has. They're going to be inspired. I don't know if they'll play well at all. I have no idea how strategically they will stay in it. Ohio State looks to be physically superior.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Unnamed Speaker
I believe that this is college sports for one game. So I do. I think Ohio State's going to win. Yeah, probably. But I'm not going to go into this thing thinking. So Cheryl asked me at tip off, what chance do you give Washington a win? And I said 40, 40, 42% chance because Detroit still doesn't have all these best players. And Washington's just good. They're just good and they're well coached. And this is magical for them. They feel good about each other and themselves. I'll give them a 40% chance to win. I'm going to give Notre Dame a 30, 35% chance of winning this game.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, I would have been a little lower with Washington. I've been 25 or 30 with Washington.
Unnamed Speaker
But yeah, I thought they, you know, I told y'all see this. I don't think there's a great team in the NFL. No, if there's a team's greatness in it, it's Kansas City.
Tony Kornheiser
If they win the third, if Kansas City wins a third and Mahomes then. And it's not that he's better than Tom Brady, but you can see the path where he's equal to Tom Brady. He's only 28, 29 years old. He's still got time.
Unnamed Speaker
With a couple more.
Tony Kornheiser
He's still got time.
Unnamed Speaker
And the third one, when you do something that sets you apart. Yeah, like that. And the third one would set the Chiefs apart. So, I mean, there's two, there's more than two significant games left. There's what, four including tonight. And I, you know, I don't, I'm not going to sit here and say, oh, I'm going to be shocked if there's one outcome or another. I'm not looking forward to it, though.
Tony Kornheiser
All right, I'll talk to you later. Thank you.
Unnamed Speaker
Yep.
All right.
Tom.
Tony Kornheiser

Tony Kornheiser
Pat is going to write about and watch the college football final. You're in Atlanta. Is that where they're doing this this year? Atlanta?
Unnamed Speaker
In Atlanta. It's a balmy 17 degrees this morning.
Tony Kornheiser
17. Wow. That's what it is here. And we have the polar vortex. Is there a polar vortex reaching all the way down to Atlanta?
Unnamed Speaker
There is. The playoff of Northern Aggression has brought its weather with it to the last stop here. And it is going to be a high of 30, but a low of like 5 today.
Tony Kornheiser
Wow, that's lower than here. And we're. We're not getting. We're going to have lows of 9 and 8 and 10 the next three days. But you. We're not going to have five. I don't know what's the difference between 5 and 8? It's really not a difference. Let me just cut to the chase here. Who do you like in this game?
Unnamed Speaker
Ohio State. You know, I think you have to. They just. They're the more talented team, they're the healthier team and they have played phenomenally through the playoffs. Maybe you know, not quite as dominant against Texas as the first two games, but still, you know, they've not trailed for a second in three games in the playoffs and their ceiling is higher than I think anything Notre Dame can hit tonight.
Tony Kornheiser
Who surprises you more given the ebb and flow of the season. And I'm going to bring up losing to Michigan for Ohio State and then Penn, Notre Dame. Not really, I mean, not really playing any very good team. Not really doing that. They had credentials, but they were somewhat suspect given the loss they had to Northern Illinois. Which team getting the final surprises you more, Pat?
Unnamed Speaker
Boy, I neither really surprises me, I have to say. I mean, I picked Notre Dame to make the final. I thought Oregon could beat Ohio State, but I guess from a season arc perspective, I would say Notre Dame just because, yeah, I mean, they have the worst loss that anybody, any national champion would have ever had if they end up winning it. I mean, the Northern Illinois game is just preposterous. And then, you know, for Ohio State, shoot, we picked them number one going into the year and I thought they were going to be the best team and they had the, you know, the utter meltdown, system failure against Michigan. But it seems like anybody they play not named Michigan, they're the best team. You know, they, they certainly proved it in the rematch against Oregon and most of the rest of the year they were excellent. So Notre Dame being here, I guess just especially given the amount of injuries they've endured, not just in the playoff, but during the season as well, it's pretty darn impressive for Marcus Freeman to come here.
Tony Kornheiser
So for you, these two teams being in the final is a satisfying conclusion. You're good with that?
Unnamed Speaker
Absolutely. You know, and I think they both had very challenging roads through the playoffs and performed very, very well. So I, you know, I think this is a really good matchup between two teams that earned their way here. Absolutely. I got no problem with it.
Tony Kornheiser
All right, so let's take, let's take the larger view, the view from the moon to the earth. Your thoughts on the 12 team playoff in its first year?
Unnamed Speaker
Thought it was great. Thought it was a big improvement of the post season. I thought we had, you know, having games on campus was awesome. Having additional really big heavyweight matchups that mattered in the quarterfinal rounds and semifinal rounds was awesome. You know, if we didn't have those, Tony, those teams would have gone to bowl games and all the good players would have opted out and nobody would have cared about their bowl games at all. Instead, they played each other and the good players played and some of the games were great. So I thought it was all fantastic. I think they will need to make some changes in terms of seeding, ranking and maybe I doubt it, but I wouldn't mind seeing quarterfinals played on campus sites either.
Tony Kornheiser
This is what yeah, there's two things I want to get to the campus sites thing. I would reward the teams that had the buys in the first week. I'd let those be on campus, but maybe they are tied into the bowl structure in such a way that they don't want to do that. And my second thing was the seatings. Notre Dame goes into this game. There's 12 teams in the playoffs. If I'm not mistaken, Notre Dame was the eight and Ohio State was the nine. That's insane, right?
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. Notre Dame was from seating. Notre Dame was seven and Ohio State was eight.
Tony Kornheiser
Insane. Insane.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and everybody knew that was ridiculous. You know, that's the one problem. And everybody's used to seating being done like it is for everything else, you know, basketball and like for the NFL, where your seed is basically based on how good you are. Not opposed to. As opposed to, you know, whether you want a conference championship.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Unnamed Speaker
How Boise State and Arizona State got seated so high.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
And kind of screwed things up. You know, they need to fix that and I think they will. You know, I think there's certainly interest in taking a hard look at that. It won't happen for 2025. It'll probably be 2026. And the bull business. It's interesting you brought that up. Right. As of right now, there are no contracts with any bulls. Like the playoff is holding on before committing to, first of all, to a structure for 2026 and beyond. But secondly, where those games are going to be played. And I think there's at least going to be a discussion of whether they want home games, you know, for the first two rounds. So that's at least going to be on the table. I don't know. You know, the. Both. The bull system has been baked into American football for 100 plus years.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Unnamed Speaker
Going to be hard to unbake it, but there's at least discussions about it.
Tony Kornheiser
Are they going to go up against the NFL again next year? Which I think is suicidal and dumb.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, well, that's TBD too. You know, there's. In terms of actual playing dates, I think they will probably opt again for like a Thursday, Friday semifinal setup as of now and, you know, avoid playing on the NFL's weekend.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Unnamed Speaker
Now the first weekend. Or. Yeah, there will probably be some. Some overlap again. That's the NFL regular season. It's tough. I mean, I'm not sure there's an easy equitable answer to this. You know, the NFL said, yeah, we're open to talking to the college folks about, you Know, working together with them, which just means they'll get out of our way or else.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes, that's the way the NFL operates and with justification. You know, more people want to see that than anything else. College is. First of all, we're not dealing with college students who are taking exams. Play it on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. I mean, maybe play it whenever you want to play it. Why go against the NFL?
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I think part of that is wanting to have fans in the stands. And you can't necessarily just guarantee that you can get a hundred thousand people into State College, Pennsylvania, on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, okay.
Unnamed Speaker
And there was actually overlap with, with final exams that, that first week, the first round of the playoffs. Like, Penn State had finals, Indiana, Notre Dame. So that was final exam week. Like, the whole calendar is a mess. Right. They, they, they've got to figure out a. Either move everything up or figure out a little bit different way. But I think there's, there's momentum to eventually moving the season up, the start of it a week, and moving the end of it up several weeks. So we're not sitting here on January 20, Martin Luther King Day, waiting for the college football championship to happen.
Tony Kornheiser
All right, let me get to something that really interests me. Brian Kelly's comments. Love this story. Looking for another challenge? What? When he says something like that out loud, does he think anyone in America believes him?
Unnamed Speaker
He can't. I mean, he really can't. Because, come on, I mean, we all know, hell, he made it pretty clear at the time why he left for lsu and it was to win a championship. He didn't think he could do it at Notre Dame.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Unnamed Speaker
Thought he had a better chance of doing it at lsu. And lo and behold, you can still do it at Notre Dame if you got the right coach and it's not him. So, you know, Brian Kelly talks sometimes and says things he shouldn't.
Tony Kornheiser
There's one other part, too, when he says he was rooting for the kids he recruited at Notre Dame. Have a little more class than that, and say, I'm rooting for Notre Dame because I was employed there and they treated me very well for a long time, and I treated them very. Shouldn't you say that? As opposed to this very small little thing of people I recruited? I mean, I just, I find his public comments easy to talk about on television and make fun of. He's a gold mine. But he can't really be serious with this.
Unnamed Speaker
Well, you know, I mean, he walks out of there feeling like Notre Dame didn't do all it could do for him to win a championship. And yeah, the bigger man, I think would have said, hey, you know, I had a great time there. We had a lot of success, had a lot of fun. I appreciate working at that university and I'm happy for the players I recruited as opposed to, yes, you know, the narrow slice of. I'm only happy for the guys I recruited, period. End of story.
Tony Kornheiser
Small.
Unnamed Speaker
Kelly's not the most graceful guy.
Tony Kornheiser
Small, just small. I'll get you out of here. On one other question. I look at Jaden Daniels, he has, I don't know, 50 college starts. Bo Nicks, 50 college starts. I mean, a lot of these guys. Michael Penix Jr. 50 college starts. People play in college forever and they probably, many of them will continue because the nil factor. They can get much more money in college than many of them would in the NFL where they're not necessarily NFL players. How long is this six year window gonna go on?
Unnamed Speaker
Well, we're about rinsed out of the, the, the extra Covid year.
Tony Kornheiser
Right.
Unnamed Speaker
There is a proposal. The ncaa, I guess, is basically so tired of losing fights to, you know, over eligibility waivers and that sort of thing, that there's a proposal to just make College Athletics A5. You can play five years in a window of five years and that's it. You get an extra year where you can play, but you get no more than five. I guess I'd be fine with that since they can't seem to ever have put the genie back in the bottle to a, you know, a four year college experience. But I, you know, I don't think we all want to see 27 year olds playing against 18 year olds. It's not really kind of what college athletics is supposed to be. So hopefully they come to some sort of solution. But the COVID years have about been rinsed out of the cycle now. So that's one step towards people actually moving on with their lives.
Tony Kornheiser
Good to know. Plug your podcast for us.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. College Football Choir with Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellinger, Yahoo Sports. We will tape late tonight after the game and have something for everybody Tuesday.

That is not Eric DeLonge and the slappy Boys. No, that is not. That's Joe and Molly Chambers sounding very much like Eric DeLonge and the Slappy Boys. Or maybe Eric Long and Slappy Boys sound very much like Joe and Molly Chambers. It is lovely to listen. It is banjo music. I love it. You want to the Bethesda Bagel ad, please?
Pat 40
Bethesda Bagels, we love them. You will as well. Got the bagel sandwich today with the new aluminum sheets that we got from Virginia. Yes.
Tony Kornheiser
Midlothian, Virginia. Chick fil a. Yes.
Pat 40
Yeah. Very excited about those. Just go to Bethesda Bagels.com for the location in the DC area nearest you. Then pop on in, my friend, and you will be thrilled.
Tony Kornheiser
Those are reusable, are they not?
Pat 40
I don't think so.
Tony Kornheiser
You don't think so?
Pat 40
No, I didn't.
Jason
Certainly not reusable.
Pat 40
No, I actually didn't use the things from the Chick fil a because I got the aluminium pre cut sheets.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, okay.
Pat 40
So I had this whole setup in the car.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, that's fine. That's fine.
Unnamed Speaker
All right.
Tony Kornheiser
Before we get to the mailbag, let me say time, time, time. See what's become of me. While I looked around for my possibilities I was so hard to please look around. Leaves are brown and the sky is a hazy shade of winter. It's a genius. Forest Hill's own Paul Simon. Thanks to our guest Today, Michael Wilbon, Pat40, thanks as well to today's sponsors. Remember, you can listen to us on Apple podcasts, Spotify and Audice. Get the show through Apple. Please leave us a review. I have some leftovers from last week and then we'll get into the new ones. From Kerry Reeves, Greensboro, N.C. every Tuesday, Chicken's half price at the Fresh Market on Lawndale here in Greensboro. You're Welcome.
Jason
Yeah, after 4:00 you get a couple of croissants.
Tony Kornheiser
It's just so good. So good. Who is this from? Lynn, from Brownsville, Washington State. As a farmer since I was nearly a child, I am mystified by your refusal to use a netting over your crop. It's simple, relatively cheap and if you purchase apply the right product, it's varmint proof. You can still see your garden, it gets water, sun and you can harvest at your leisure. Even the wooden owls are fooled by this process. Alternatively, consider providing an alternative food source for those pesky squirrels. Whole shelled peanuts in a well placed feeder will keep them satisfied. Maybe you will even learn to enjoy Rocky the flying Squirrel savors peanuts, a new source of enjoyment in conversation. If all else fails, just leave the leftover ice cream from the stalkers who leave it on your doorstep near your tomato garden. Squirrels are scavengers and they will likely go for a bad coffee ice cream before a semi ripe tomato problem solved. That's really good.
Pat 40
That's a smart solution.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, we're gonna keep that for next year.
Jason
I do see a lot of peanut.
Tony Kornheiser
Shells, so maybe that's what we should do Matt Ruse now in Newtown, Pennsylvania I received a call from an unknown number in Washington, D.C. that I sent straight to voicemail, given I live in Pennsylvania. Immediately after declining call, I realized it may have been you calling to let me know it was raining. Sorry for being rude. Please don't hesitate to call the next time a rain cloud passes by. Rick De sedlow East Winthrop, Maine Dear Mr. Tony in the early 80s, when I was a much younger man still living on Long Island, I was taking a class to become a basketball official. The instructor was Jim Valvano's dad, Rocky Valvano. Absolutely sounds like Jim was a chip off the old block, except maybe with not so much of the Marine Sergeant Drill instructor in him. The first thing Rocky told us was if you're going to make a bad call, make it loud. As if bad calls were premeditated. But we got his point. Hadn't thought of him in years, but I remember it being a wonderful four or five weeks of learning and entertainment. Yeah, Rocco. Rocco Valvano. Rocky Valvano also coached Seaford High School, Bob Schnewis or Schneeweis. I don't know if I got that straight. Associate Director of Athletics in Concordia College I saw Pat, 40 at the NCAA convention in Nashville. As we passed each other, I excitedly said, lecheserie. He didn't hear me, but I laughed at the absurdity that a longtime radio podcast PTI fan would even say such a thing to a talented, well known passing journalist. Thanks for providing 20 plus consistent joy. I'm grateful. Our friend Tim Collins, Fort Collins Fort Tim Cree, Fort Collins, Colorado it's soup season here as well I wear my split pea colored safety vest and hat every time I go into the woods. I did buy soup at the butcher. What's it called?
Jason
Butcher's Alley.
Tony Kornheiser
I bought a chicken noodle soup. Had some yesterday. Quite good.
Pat 40
Okay, that's good.
Tony Kornheiser
I'm a soup person. Max in Philly. Max Canefield, Murray, class of 2015.
Jason
Yeah, lefty.
Tony Kornheiser
I'd like to submit a former Wizards forward, Nene for the shortest athlete name game. A cursory Wikipedia search reveals that in what can only be described as a reverse chaired Ochocinko, Nene simply legally simplified his name from Maybinder Rodney Hilario to just nae nae. Have a good week and hail the commanders. Did you teach him?
Jason
He was not in my class. He was on my golf team.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay. Was good.
Jason
Lot of talent in terms of speed. Lost interest in the game his senior year.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, okay. Josh Smith, Toledo, Ohio team. Marissa all the way. She'll shoot you. Go Buckeyes. Zach Feinstein. I'm Mark's son. I know that we previously discussed my renaming to Jaden, and I was initially opposed to the idea, but after seeing Daniels win Washington's first playoff game in my lifetime, I've decided to reconsider. If he miraculously beats the Lions this week. We got this last week. I might do whatever my dad approves. Or not. So that could be it. Could be Jaden.
Pat 40
Has to be.
Tony Kornheiser
Could be Jaden. Steve from Atlanta. I was just wondering, when the Uber came, what would you have done if it was a Subaru? Well, it wasn't a Subaru. I didn't have to worry about it.
Pat 40
Wouldn't get in.
Tony Kornheiser
Brian brown, Virginia Beach, Virginia Grizzly bears in Yellowstone eat around 300,000 moths a month and accounts for one third of their calorie intake. That's it. That's the email.
Pat 40
Well, that's your solution. Get a big bear.

Jim Tippett. I was never a fan of Petco until many years ago. At my previous undisclosed residence, I received a monthly bill for $6.05 with a credit on my account for $1,500. Thinking this would be quickly corrected, I let it go. This monthly billing error continued for the next 15 years with my rate unchanged and the credit covering the bill. Eventually, a Pepco representative appeared at my front door explaining that I had a faulty untampered meter needing replacement. I was never back billed for the error. So in case, in your case, perhaps they are simply clawing back lost revenue, tell Rich Balaban and his multiple holes in one heater. I wonder if that's possible. Wow, great. 15 years from Don Ames, Kingston, Ontario, Canada no, you have to see that. Regarding your Pepco bill, any chance that your Revolution Toaster when in use lights up a brighter than Supernova and sears your corneas? If not, I'm fresh out of ideas. Jimmy Eskridge Apex, North Carolina that's got to be at the top of the state. If it's Apex Apex, one would think yes. Gotta be at the top of the state. Dear PTI Guy, I passed a solar company on my way to Chapel Hill to visit my daughter in college. I'm going to email them to let them know that destitute Orange man the DMV is in need of a big box of that. Should I have them send it to the PTI studios? Yeah. Kira Bonnie Do a Carabani James Moss Kingsbury, Texas Dear Tony, I'm a father of 12 kids, so the joy I got from hearing you talk about electricity delivery charges was much needed in the midst of all the drama that comes with five adopted teenage daughters. You see, I talk about delivery charges all day long. It's those exponentially increasing delivery charges that allow me to sell enough solar around the country to feed my kids and pay a few bills. The best way I can explain delivery charges is that all of those new neighborhoods you see popping up around you aren't Amish communities. They need electricity. That electricity comes from substations. More communities means more substations. Excuse me. If those new substations are between the main power source and your home, you pay an extra delivery fee to pass through those stations. The best part is that those substations can name their own price and you are captive whatever they feel like they charged over $200 over $200 delivery. What is it like Uber doesn't doordash doesn't charge that much at certain times of day they might all of that said with a jump in price like you have just experienced, it definitely sounds like you have an issue with your H Vac that is causing your system to run substantially more than usual. I hope this helps and didn't bore you too much. If it's not too much to ask, can I be the official solar guy with 12 kids of the Tony Cornisher? Yeah, you can be that. And you can get me some solar energy.
Pat 40
Sure.

From Clinton Dixon. Clint Dixon goes by Clint in Richmond Hill, Ontario. That's Canada. While listening to your segment with Tim Cowlishaw the other day, I realized that he and I share something in common. We both read Tony Kornheiser immediately changed our career goals. I'd been listening to you on PTI for years, then took to the radio show when you came back from Monday Night Football. I then read back for Marquesh in early 2008, and the dream was sealed. Just a couple of months later, I found out that school paper at McMaster was looking for volunteer contributors. I applied to volunteer, and instead they paid me to immediately become the sports editor. Instead, after graduation, I took a job at a local golf course in Oakville, Ontario, and chased Jake the Coyote around in a golf cart, which you already know from a previous email. While I wasn't chasing Jake the Coyote, I managed to get published in a local paper writing a story about a couple of club fitters who worked with PGA pros when the Canadian Open was in town. That byline got me an interview for an internship with Chill Golf Magazine, a free golf magazine that was given out in the beer store quarterly. A week after the interview, I got a call saying I didn't get the internship. Instead, I was to become their new staff writer. I decided to wait for a call from HR to begin onboarding. I couldn't believe my luck. In my mind, I'd hit the jackpot. I was going to get paid to write about golf. Four days passed. The phone didn't ring once. So I called up HR myself, eager to get going. When I got through to hr, this is exactly what they told me. Who are you? Who did you say hired you?

Her.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. They fired her and every other editor three days ago. Don't call back. You have no job here now. I sell printers. Fantastic email. Fantastic. Fantastic. If you're out on your bike tonight, everyone do wear white.
Unnamed Speaker
All right, that's it. Let's roll.
Hey, let's be careful out here.
Tony Kornheiser

If you tossed me like a coin in a fountain oh, would you sink to the bottom with me? See, let's see if we could gather rest and last for seasons and beyond. I feel next year you leave me behind. Cause I know my time is short for your hands, your hips and your eyes and your lips don't you romance I lost in time when you move on like a turn of page I'll be the echo that you left behind. All that you say is that we'll figure it how you know how can you be aloof so graceful in the fall we have weeks left until then I dream about you all wondering how to turn the cloud back. Your silhouette is just a ghost I cannot bear to be without and all I think about is Your arms and your legs and your clothes, your friends and oh what oh, how it is starting romance I'm lost in time when you move on like a turn of page I'll be the echo that you left behind I heard you left traveling west to find yourself Must be nice to have that luxury how could you treat me like a ghost? You looked right through me in the spring and now I'm haunted, lost and heartsick But I'll still be here when this town's just a memory to you I'll still be here when this town's just a memory to you W to start your romance I'm lost in time when you move on like a T I'll be the echo that you left behind one or little star tree romance and lost.
Tony Kornheiser
I'll be the echo that.

You left behind Beneath the falls in drenched town Blues go gray skies do.

Breath flows smoke around us in drenched towns the fog on the windows lets empty seats drive cars Water flows down my sleeve, down my spine and in this rain you are mine, you are mine so shiver not my dear in drench town Let these soaked arms pull you in the radio static and the stores are all closed in drench town so warm those hands on the dash don't you fear, don't you fear Water flows down my sleeve, down my spine and in this rain you are mine, you are mine so meet me beneath the fall Blues go gray, skies do fade Blues go gray, skies do fade.
