Hey, it's Tony. If you're hearing this, it means that Nigel has flushed the mouse and forgot to have me record something new. So who knows who our guests will be today? Maybe Mick Jagger, Sandy Koufax, Dalai Lama. Long hitter? The Lama? Probably not, but I guess you'll have to tune in to find out. But first, let's keep the sales weasels happy.

Nigel
I'm experiencing this right now because we're heading out of town for the weekend and I got a bike rack and. And trying to hook this thing onto the bike R. Let's just say dinner was delayed last night.
Tony Kornheiser
Is that that. Is that. Do you have that tool?
Nigel
Thule is the. Thule is the brand that we. We aspire to, but we don't have a hitch on the back of the family car. So I spent hours researching this.
Tony Kornheiser
There.
Nigel
There's just four hooks that go into the back of the trunk. And then you just say, well, we're going to cross the Bay Bridge and hopefully the bikes make it.
Commercial Announcer
The Tony Korniser show is on now.
Tony Kornheiser
So where are we?
Nigel
The bike rack returned to Amazon with the impending storm. Okay, shout out to the UPS of Wisconsin Avenue for helping us with the. With the boxing.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, so there's no bike rack, kids.
Nigel
Hopes are destroyed.
Tony Kornheiser
Sorry. You can rent bikes.
Nigel
We will rent bikes.
Tony Kornheiser
There's, you know, there's a thousand places to rent bikes out there.
Nigel
We'll wait for the holidays for the next big sale. Who knows, maybe we'll have a hitch by then.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, let me thank a couple of people. First of all, let me thank Bree Hayden, who is an artist who does drawings of whiskey bottles.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Yes, old whiskey bottles.
Tony Kornheiser
She does that. Fascinating. She sent us a couple. That's very, very nice. She sent a note. Sent the note to Nigel. Thank you so much for supporting my art through giving me a shout out on the podcast. You'll find a limited edition for you and Tony. I chose Federal Seal, a pre prohibition DC Whiskey for you. A longtime anonymous listener chose the New York Old Granddad. I am an old granddad for Tony. I've included his note as well. And. And it says a podcast fan purchased this old granddad print to be gifted to you with a note. Long time listener, first time donor, which is nice. So Bri Hayden's work is very lovely and we're going to put it in frames and yeah, we're very grateful for that. Thank you very much. Thank you to whoever bought the frame, the print for me. It's not a print, it's an original drawing. Also. I don't have to get to this right now. Well, actually, I should. I should. I got a very, very nice note, a very nice note from Doug Steinhurst in Las Cruces, New Mexico, who grew up in Roslyn on Long Island. And one of the parts of the note is, look at the moon. Go outside and look up, check out the moon. Don't miss it. Remind people, look at the moon. And yeah, that's one of the few messages on this show. But this is a very, very nice note. I'm grateful for that. So let me get to the open. Let me get to a bunch of things. Yeah, I'll get to the baseball. First. Let me just say that we have Jason Lock. And for on. And if my questions about the Eagles and the Giants game sound sort of off the point, it's because I didn't watch a single play. I didn't watch a single play because I was watching the baseball and the game, the football game was on. And I didn't go over to it because it's on Prime Video. And on my house, you know, which is not. My television set is neither smart nor new. And I have to go into a third party box in order to get prime video, which we get.
Nigel
It's a great description of how you have to exit cable to get into a streaming service.
Tony Kornheiser
It takes a long time to do. You wait for little doodads to spin around and you press on this and press on that. And finally. And it's not seconds, it's minutes. It's minutes. Finally you're able to access it. But you cannot get out of it by hitting last, which I just learned about. You cannot get out of it by hitting 8, you know, 26. For Turner, you can't do that. It's just. It's too cumbersome.
Nigel
It's not as tactile or immediate as just going from channel to channel.
Tony Kornheiser
So I didn't, I didn't watch. I just simply didn't watch because I wanted to watch the baseball. I was totally involved. Well, the baseball in the, in the, you know, Phillies and the Dodgers. So I, you know, I'm not going to have anything small.
Nigel
6 o' clock playoff start is the perfect time.
Jeff Ma
Great.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, it's great. And when you only Wilbon doesn't like.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
It and when you've got a tight game like that, like I, if I, if I try and go to the football, I might miss a, you know.
Tony Kornheiser
You can't do it well, and with.
Nigel
That kind of pitching, you feel like if you go away for five minutes, you can miss a one play.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Exactly.
Tony Kornheiser
So. So I couldn't do it. I'll talk about it today on pti. I've seen all the highlights and it's a big deal. And if something's wrong with Philadelphia, it's not that. Something's right with the Giants, you can't say that yet. Right now all you can say is something's wrong with Philadelphia. But Jason will handle that. So I was watching. I did not watch Cubs game. Wilbon was at the Cubs game. He texted me earlier this morning about how thrilled he was to be there and how he thinks they got a shot at the Cheeseheads, you know, in Milwaukee. So today is Friday. Today.
Nigel
Any confirmation on Jersey wearing?
Tony Kornheiser
No, I don't know. I didn't see a picture of him. I didn't. He was in the front row. He told me, but I didn't see him. So I don't know. You know when that game is. I assume it's Saturday. I assume today is the travel day and that the game five is Saturday. There is a game five today. That is Detroit Saturday at 808. Okay. Detroit is at Seattle tonight, right? Or today. Whenever. It's probably tonight or tonight. Okay. But it's three hours difference, obviously. And they have Tarek Scuba going. This is what if you're Detroit, this is what you want. This is all you ask for. Give us a chance to put our best pitcher out there.
Nigel
How many times has he pitched in the last two weeks?
Tony Kornheiser
Probably three or four. You know, so that's what that game is about. But the, the game that I watched, the Philadelphia Dodgers game, the starting pitchers were great. Sanchez and Glasnow were great. San.
Nigel
He was getting out of the first couple innings in what felt like seven pitches every time.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Nigel
And like the counts were not, it was not like first pitch outs. It was like two, two. And then gets a ground ball glass.
Tony Kornheiser
Now. I, I guess I didn't know why they took him out. I wasn't certain why they put in that kid, the blonde haired kid whose name escapes me now. Who was the first reliever they put in? Who's Dodge's first reliever? Look it up.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Sorry?
Tony Kornheiser
Looking it up. It's his first name, begins with an E. I remember that. That's going to be important what I'm gonna say, okay?
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Oh, Kevin.
Tony Kornheiser
It's not Kevin. Some. Some other shit. I wasn't sure why they took Glasnow out, but I guess I. I heard Today he had 88 pitches. 98 pitches isn't a lot, but he'd been hurt a lot. So, okay, they took him out. The critical play in the game, the only play that matters in the game Is in the 11th inning when they relieve relief pitcher for the Phillies, Orion Kirkering.
Nigel
Kirkering.
Tony Kornheiser
Kirkering, who's pitched a lot this year. I've seen him pitch a lot. Their bases are loaded, I believe at that time.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Yeah, he walked. Walked somebody to load the bases.
Tony Kornheiser
How many are out at this point?
Nigel
There's two out.
Tony Kornheiser
There's two out. There's a ground ball that Pahes hits. It's. It probably breaks his bat. He hits a slow, oddly rolling ball back to the pitcher, cookering to the.
Nigel
Right side of the pitcher, to the.
Tony Kornheiser
Right side of the pitcher. Bases are loaded, so there's a force out everywhere. It's important to stress. This is force out everywhere. The pitcher bobbles the ball when he picks up the ball and everyone is in motion. The catcher, J.T. realmuto, who's a really good catcher and a really good hitter, is seen pointing to first base, which is his way of saying to Orion Kirkering, throw the ball at first. You got plenty of time. Guy's only halfway down. Throw the ball first. Cookering doesn't. Cookering from 30ft.
Nigel
Not even.
Tony Kornheiser
He's in front of the mound, 30ft.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
From the mound at that point.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, 25ft, man. Throw something pretty hard to home to make the force at home. You can make the force at home, but not when you throw it wild. Not when you throw it way beyond real Mudo's outstretched glove to the left of Real Mudo. So it becomes a walk off error. And the poignant picture is Kerkering at the mound with his head down and his elbows on his knees as everybody else in the Dodger white and blue celebrates around him. And that's a great photo. Yeah, somebody's got to have that photo. I mean, I don't have any photography instincts, but that's a great photo. And, and so it's a walk off. Strange play. And The Dodgers, who I think are the better team, they move ahead in four games. But the Phillies are really good. I think. I think they're the two best teams in baseball. I think that I could be wrong. Anyway, one of them is now gone. But I think it's important to remember that the only reason the Phillies got a run was because of an error on a pitcher as well. There is a ground. There's a man on first with one out. Ground ball to Freddie Freeman on the right hand side. He throws to Mookie Betts, the shortstop covering the pitcher. What's his last name again? Sheehan.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Yeah, Emmett Sheehan.
Tony Kornheiser
Runs over correctly to catch the relay to make the double play. The throw is fine. There's nothing wrong with the throw. It's not in the dirt, it's not high. The pitcher misses it, it hits off his glove and rolls into the dugout. Automatic runner at first, safe. Had, goes to second base. Single later. That's how they got the run. Should have been three outs, just a little single. Should have been. Yeah, should have been three out. So that's how they got a run. The Dodgers got their run when the Philly relief pitcher, the first one. And his name is Cruz. What is his name?
Nigel
Duran. Duran.
Tony Kornheiser
Duran. Yeah. On a bases loaded situation. Now, one of the reasons the bases was loaded, because they intentionally walked Shohei Otani, who's, by the way, not hitting at all.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
Strikes out all the time. Like no hits. But they walk them because it's righty, lefty, and it. It's the right play. And Mookie Betts gets up and draws a walk on a 3, 2 pitch. I don't know how you take that pitch. It's a little high. Yeah, it's a little. It's not way high. It's just a little high. And Mookie Betts walks. And so the Dodgers walk in a run, and then they go to the 11th inning and what happens, happens. And again, I think the margins are so small. Playoff baseball.
Nigel
And you just look at the way this game was lining up just in terms of the off day, just for the Phillies able to line up pitches the way they wanted to. In terms of getting Sanchez in there, you think he would be able to bridge it to Durant, and you could potentially only face those two.
Tony Kornheiser
That's what happened.
Nigel
Everything is happening.
Tony Kornheiser
Phillies get everything they want. Except.
Nigel
And then you get extras, and then you have to put in Lazardis. You're like, okay, that would have been what if this had to go to game five? I Mean, at that point, who then are you going to pitch? But it doesn't. You have. Sasaki comes and does.
Tony Kornheiser
Three was fantastic. Lights out, nine up, nine down. And I. Who did. I wrote to Chuck Todd. I wrote a note saying if they don't win today, Sasaki is not going to be able to pitch.
Nigel
Well, it ends up feeling. It ends up feeling like you got a game five with in game four.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. So that was that. That was like, this is the kitchen sink game. Everybody you throw in, everybody other than Clayton Kershaw, who I'm not sure, maybe we'll see again, Clayton Kershaw.
Jeff Ma
How about that?
Tony Kornheiser
But that was because you don't.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
If the Dodgers, like, we can't go back to Philadelphia because then you feel like.
Nigel
I don't think Triton was going to make that plane ride.
Tony Kornheiser
That's right. That's right. Okay.
Nigel
There's a. There's a. It's. It's a poignant image where you see the first Phillies who are then putting their arms around him right after you have. And you have. You have Castellanos, who made the final out in the World Series and sort of knows what that. That feeling is. But, man, those Dodgers were celebrating pretty quickly after that happened. Such an odd way. I watched the.
Jeff Ma
I watched.
Tony Kornheiser
I wouldn't have even thought the game.
Nigel
Was over and over again. And it's one of those things you keep waiting to see. Are you gonna pick up the ball and throw it somewhere else? And then you realize, no, it's. It's just over.
Musician or Band Member
It's over.
Tony Kornheiser
It's over.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
All right. One other thing. I. The Heroes dinner was Wednesday night. I remember telling everybody that Wilbon and I last year appeared there and did a Q and A, and how impressed I was. What Heroes, Inc. Is, and my friend Michael Farr is the chairman of the dinner. What Heroes, Inc. Is, is these are private citizens who donate their own money, try to raise corporate money, but donate their own money if they have to, to support in perpetuity the families of people who are killed in the line of duty. Police, fire, emergency people, stuff like that. I mean, this is a wonderful, wonderful thing. And a lot of people give a lot of money. And they have something called the Chief's Dinner. And it's at the most beautiful place in the United States of America, the rooftop of the Hay Adams Hotel. It's gorgeous.
Musician or Band Member
Gorgeous.
Tony Kornheiser
And because you have a view of the history of the United States of America, you see the White House, you see the Lincoln Memorial, you see the Jefferson Memorial, you see the Washington Monument and you see the planes taking off and landing, you know, at National Airport. It's just fabulous. But this is the, the chief's dinner. Everybody dresses up. You wear. If you're a police chief in, you know, Roslyn, Virginia, if you're a fire chief in Bethesda, Maryland, you wear your outfit. I mean, that's the deal. You wear your outfit. It's like Halloween. Yeah.
Jeff Ma
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
You know, and it's wonderful to see that and everybody is lovely to meet and I, I'm, I'm just so sort of impressed. I went to the cocktail hour for reasons, you know, they're mine and, and I, I could not attend the dinner, but very happy to go to the cocktail hour and got this lovely email from Jeffrey Schneider, Assistant Chief, United States Park Police. Dear Dr. Ron, After 20 plus years of listening on WTEM in the pod and watching PTI, I finally had my ultimate David Aldrich moment on Wednesday evening. Had the honor of attending the Heroes Annual Chiefs Dinner. Heroes is a charitable organization in the greater Washington D.C. community that financially supports the families of first responders who have lost their lives in a line of duty to include paying the college tuition for the children who have been left behind. They are run by great people, do great things. I second this and are supported by extremely generous individuals. I had the pleasure of chatting with a number of people about sports and life like Mike Wilbond and board member Gary Williams, who couldn't have been nicer. But the highlight of my night, Grandpa was catching the number one Big before you snuck out early, giving you a hearty lecheserie and speaking for a few moments on behalf of the DC area law law enforcement community and the first responder families that have been supported. I just want to express my gratitude to you and the other Bigs for being so generous with your time and lend your name to a truly worthy cause. And I could not say anything better than that. So I will shut up and tell you that Jason Locke and Fora will join us when we return. I'm Tony Kornheiser.

This is a song called ghoul you want. As you heard already, it is by a band with one of the greatest names of all time, Librarians with Hickeys. They record on Big Stir Records. This is the lead off track for their album chilling, thrilling hooks and haunted harmonies. The single version. The song releases next week. October 17th. Cleared for airplay now. Librarians with Hickeys. Fabulous. Michael. If independent groups or artists named with names like librarians with Hickeys want to send in their original music, how do they do it?
Nigel
Send us your music by emailing it.

To jinglesonyquinizershow.com they play in Jason Locke and Fora and we have these emails from Jeff in Carmel, Indiana. Jason and the team over at Wannabe absolutely crushed week five of the NFL. We're making so much money these days we had to order customized lobster bibs because we're eating so good. We've got to keep our wannabet hoodies picture attached nice and clean. What do you say we send you one to hang up on the wall in the back of pti? The Beatles were right. Money can't buy me love, love but it sure can buy lobster. Jeff Breland. And from Kevin Behrens in Chicago, winner, winner, lobster dinner Monday Night Football first quarter under 7.5. Thanks, Jason. So you're making inroads, Jason. You're doing well.
Jason Locke
I won't look just an og. We know Jeff. Jeff. Jeff's got one of the very few hoodies in existence. As you know, Tony, there's one with your name on it.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Jason Locke
I'm gladly in lieu of you wearing one, I would gladly settle for one being displayed anywhere. I think we can do that. I think we get the background.
Tony Kornheiser
I think we can do that for sure.
Jason Locke
My people will talk to your people. I will talk to Nigel and that's good. We will send you guys. We will send you guys some hoodies. I full disclosure. Last night was not a three lobster night. We were all over Jackson dart rushing. We made good plus money there. The hurts anytime touchdown. But we felt the Eagles would win that game. Tony. We were not willing to lay any points, but we liked Eagles Moneyline and we were wrong.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. So let's get to our traditional Friday morning question. What did we learn, if anything, from last night's game?
Jason Locke
The Giants, right now, as presently constructed, are better in the trenches than the Eagles. And the Giants offensive line, when Andrew Thomas plays, is functional. When he does not, it's far less than that. Jackson Dart has invigorated them with an energy and a verve and a life that we haven't seen in a long time. This was a team that you could run the numbers on them opening drives, first half of games. Their first half scoring differential at home the last year and a half before Dart took over at quarterback was worse than the NFL. They weren't scoring any points. They'd allowed 150 in the first half of their last 11 home games. Now with Jackson Dart at the helm, Tony, they've scored three straight touchdowns to start games like the Eagles without Jalen Carter. That defensive line that already lacks edge rush, you can run on him, obviously, in a multitude of ways when he's not present. We saw Dallas do it opening day. I did not know he would not be playing in that game. I think it caught some people by surprise. Certainly the Giants feasted. And now Quinion Mitchell, if he's out any significant period of time, they've got issues. They cannot generate a pass rush. Nick Fangio is having difficulty scheming up a pass rush, and that is a very vulnerable football team right now. The offensive line, it seems like they go as Landon Dickerson goes, and he's obviously not playing football these days. So I think there are genuine concerns there. I think this Giants team is fun and frisky and interesting in ways they haven't been, man, I don't know, in a long, long time. And they're doing it suboptimally right. They're. They're down a lot of key pieces in the past game.
Tony Kornheiser
And look, well, they're down neighbors. They're down their best receiver.
Jason Locke
Yeah, look. Yeah, they really should be 30 with this kid. I mean, the five straight possessions with the turnover in New Orleans was just one of those freaky things that sort of happens. But, like, you know, if they played the Saints on a neutral field, I'm sorry, Spencer Rattler is not winning that game. So it's interesting. That division is interesting. And I think the Eagles, like, you know, it's hard to repeat. And everybody when you win thinks they're, you know, I Can remember talking to Jimmy Devilano about this back when I covered the Red Wings and they were winning back to back Stanley Cups. I remember he was the assistant GM of the Islanders. Tom. Back in the days.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Jason Locke
With 14 in a row. He's like, jason, I gotta tell you, when you win, it's great, but then everybody thinks they're about 30% better than they really are. And everybody wants 30, 50% more than they're really worth. And that becomes, you know, you get your tit in the ringer and that's a real tough one, Chase. So I think of that all the time and I feel like the Eagles are going through some of that right now.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, I mean, I don't want to use a word, disarray, but when you have a situation where a few players are publicly disgruntled and meet with each other to see if they can satisfy that. And I don't know how this was affected last night, but the Eagles, they are the defending super bowl champions. The Eagles were going into last night's game 30th out of 32 teams in total offense, 31st out of 32 teams in passing offense and last in the percentage of three and outs 47.2%, which is remarkable. That's absolutely remarkable to me. What, what is going on.
Jason Locke
But they can't sustain things up front. I just, I. The offensive line and defensive line are a shell of what they were a year ago. I mean this was a team that could run on you in an eight man box, in a nine man box. You could know that they were running and they could tell you we're running and where we're running, which side of the field and there's a pretty good chance they were going to pick up, you know, four and a half yards or more anyway. That's just what it was, who they were. Remember, they lost Kellen Moore, like I don't know about this new offensive coordinator and you're beat up in the trenches.
Tony Kornheiser
But the touch push still works. It still works. You'd think that means they have a strong offensive line, no?
Jason Locke
Well, I mean, I think, you know, like Dickerson's banged up, they're just not. I don't think it's the same five man unit. It doesn't look like the same five man unit. You know, mulatto looks banged up. I don't know if all those train wrecks from the Tush push have caught up to them.
Tony Kornheiser
Right.
Jason Locke
But they're not getting the push and explosion. They're not blowing people off the line of scrimmage, Saquon Barkley is getting it in the backfield like he's not among league leaders. And yards before contact, he's getting. He's getting swarmed. And last year, it didn't matter which four they brought up front. There was a pretty good chance that they might at least force your quarterback to pick his feet up and move off the spot a little bit. That's. They're getting. No, they're getting nothing. Yes. Some guys left. Yes. You know, teams, I guess, are better prepared for whatever they have going on, but especially when Jalen Carter doesn't play, it's. They cannot generate pressure on the other team. So their quarterback has more time than your quarterback. Their running game, especially when he doesn't play, is probably better than your running game. And that's borne out in the stats where they've got a negative yardage differential in most games they played this season.
Tony Kornheiser
How are they?
Jason Locke
Four and two football games and their special teams have been freakishly good. I mean, these blocks and stuff, I. I mean, it's been. It's been a lot of sleight of hand. It's been a block here, it's been a missed extra point there. You know, the Rams kicker doesn't know how to get his shoulders behind the ball. Like he's chipping the soccer ball and elevate the ball. I mean, they've had. They've had some weird stuff certainly go their way, but.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, I don't.
Jason Locke
I don't know how you could feel great about them right now. I just don't.
Tony Kornheiser
Let me get to two games on the card that seem to be maybe all in games for one team or another. Detroit at Kansas City and Rams at Baltimore. How do you view those games?
Jason Locke
I think Rams at Baltimore is another bloodbath. I just think it is what it is. The Ravens have allowed 13 passing touchdowns with just one interception. That's the worst ratio in the NFL. They've also allowed 11 rushing touchdowns, which is second most in the NFL. They're bringing safeties in, one through trade, one off the street to try to be able to get into some of the personnel groupings that work for them really well under their old defensive coordinator, Mike McDonald. I don't know how successful that's going to be. They have no pass rush to speak of. There's no one on that team who merits a chip, who merits an extra tight end. Like, you don't have to worry about anyone rushing the passer, and they just dealt the guy who got 10 sacks by default a while back away. A former first round pick to get one of those pedestrian safeties just so they have enough safeties to try to keep people from throwing in their running backs and their tight ends all day. You know, we're talking worst sack rate in the NFL. We're talking third worst pressure rate and no individual who can do it. They also have a defensive coordinator who's passive by nature. When he does blitz, it tends to be kind of easy to pick up. It's Kyle Hamilton or it's Marlon Humphrey from the slot and they're not getting any pressure that way. There's a nor' Easter that might be coming through here. Yeah, that's the only chance they have. Like if this is a monsoon and Stafford can't throw the ball, then the Rams will beat them 21 to 10 just running the ball and playing rugby. If it's not a true weather event, then they're going to give up 40 or more. It just depends on when McVay decides enough is enough. But McVeigh cannot take his foot off the gas too soon. And trust me, he knows this after what happened in San Francisco, after what happened in the game they blew to the Eagles. So like, you know, if it's, if you wake up Sunday morning in this area and it's not terrible, you know, Matt Stafford, three or more passing touchdowns plus 180. They can't stop Puka Nakua, they can't stop Devonte Adams. It's just a bad. It's a bad matchup. And offensively it's going to be Cooper Rush and they can't run the ball at all. Their offensive line stinks. They're probably going to try new two new guards. The left tackle, Ronnie Stanley. If it's a rainy day with his bum ankle, forget about it. He's not getting through the game. That means Joe.
Jeff Ma
Nope, no.
Jason Locke
Boom. That means Cooper Rush is throwing multiple interceptions because he's going to be pressured. I like Detroit in this other game. I just think they are the better team in the trenches right now. Kansas City not getting much pass rush. Kansas City, you can run on them all day. I like the constitution of that Lions offensive line right now. They didn't road grade the Bengals the way I think they thought they were. A lot of people thought they were. I think they will be intent on reestablishing that against the Chiefs. You look, I mean this could be a high scoring game. Xavier worthy, even though he didn't do a lot in that game, his presence does open some things up. Mahomes has got more confidence, I think, in multiple receivers right now and you know, they're okay chucking it around. I think you're going to see more and more of that Prashad Smith kid, the seventh round running back. I think he's going to show up more and more in the red zone in the passing game to try to give them some answers there where the red zone has really become a problem for them. I think it's a higher scoring game, but I just think the Lions are the better team and I think the Lions the more balanced team and I think the Chiefs are in trouble. The Chiefs kicker is also becoming a problem now, too. So when they need him the most, he can't kick the ball inside the zone the right way and he's missing a lot of field goals and extra points that used to be automatic. So I like the Lion.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, I'll give you one other question here. How surprising is it that Jacksonville and Indianapolis are both 4 and 1?
Jason Locke
Well, Tone, if you read me in.
Tony Kornheiser
The post, that's why I'm set you up to do this. I set you up.
Jeff Ma
Thank you. There was a bell to ring.
Jason Locke
Someone please ring it. I appreciate that, being on the T. Look, I did not fancy either of those teams coming into the season. And so you watch football for a month and then you reach out and you start talking to people smarter than you and you're like, okay, clearly, I thought the Jags just running it back with the same moocs on defense who couldn't stop anybody last year was wasn't going to work. Clearly it's working. How real is this? And then people start saying that D coordinators got something to him. Like, no, I'm a believer. You know, a guy who put me on the Ben Johnson four or five years ago before he became a hotshot was like, dude, this is. This is the Ben Johnson of defense. Just, you know, go back to this game and watch this play. Go back to the film here and watch this go watch what this nose tackle did 30 yards downfield to push a guy out of bounds. Like they're running through walls for this dude. And the turnovers isn't just fluky because look at his family tree. Look at where he's coached. Look at who he's been with. Look at what those defenses do. So, no, I think they've got something going there. The linebackers are obviously engaged in super athletic and difference makers and everybody saw that with the Lloyd pick six. I think this Liam Cohen's got something to him, the quarterback still scares the bejesus out of me. But I think two, two teams or more from that division are going to the playoffs. I mean, the Colts, I mean, there's so much house money that they're building up here. I mean, that win over Denver, I mean, that could be the difference in hosting a playoff game. And not like I, I say that as a 1 seed just because I don't, I don't know. I mean, Buffalo's defense does not do it for me. And if Ed Oliver and Matt Milano are going to be hurt more than they're healthy this year, I think that's a vulnerable team. I think the AFC is as wild, as wacky as it's ever been. And I would put Denver number one in my power rankings right now in that conference. But then I got a lot of question marks after that. And even they obviously are still pretty early in this whole Sean Payton thing and they haven't actually done it in the playoffs yet. No, I, look, I think the Colts, I think the Jags, I think the Texans, Texans defense is second best in the NFL for me next to Denver right now.
Jeff Ma
So.
Jason Locke
And they've got a real kicker and they've got, you know, they've got good special teams. So, yeah, Tone, I think two of those three are going to go into the playoffs. And does a world exist? We're all free. Do it. I mean, I think it's possible if the Chiefs fell apart, I'm not buying the Chargers at all without an offensive line. And that quarterback is getting hit way too much. Like, yeah, that division is actually interesting. I can't believe it.
Tony Kornheiser
And it was the worst division of all for a number of years. All right. Plug your betting show. Plug bet.
Jason Locke
Thank you.
Jeff Ma
Thank you.
Jason Locke
Wannabe airs every day, seven days a week, usually at noon. You can watch it on my Twitter at Jace Oregis x whatever@Jason Lockin 4. We'll try. We'll try.
Jason Locke
Can't wait to see where it pops up.
Tony Kornheiser
I'll talk to you. Thank you, Jason.
Jason Locke
Thanks, guys.
Tony Kornheiser
Jason luck and fora boys and girls, just fabulous. We will take a break. We will come back with James Carville and Jeff Matt. I'm Tony Kornheiser.
Commercial Announcer
This is the Tony Kornheiser show. Tony Kornheiser show.
Singer or Musician
The news is out all over town that you've been seeing around, running around. I know that I should leave but.
Musician or Band Member
Then.
Singer or Musician
I just can't go. You win again.
Tony Kornheiser
It's the late great Hank Williams with James Carville's walk up music. You win again. James wins all the time.
Jeff Ma
Yes, he does.
Tony Kornheiser
We have James's picks. We could not make a connection on the show with James. Right. We talked to him. Couldn't make it work.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
He was in a security line and could.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's okay. We have his picks and I should say last week he went 4 and 1. He is now 19 and 11. Okay. Chuck Todd is under 500. The monkey is under 500. Jeff Ma, who we're going to hear from in a little bit is one game over 500 and James is eight games over 500. So if you're writing this down, here are James's picks.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Should we do this?
Musician or Band Member
Oh, yeah.
Jason Locke
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
This week's picks with James Carville and Jeff Ma are brought to you by fanduel sportsbook. Make every moment more and in the continuing saga of James's life to find games between teams you've never heard of and you would never ever bet these games.
Nigel
And we confirmed these games are actually happening.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, we don't. You're not even sure that there are teams.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
It took me a considerable amount of time to track these games down.
Tony Kornheiser
He has Ball state playing Western Michigan. Yeah, he's taking Ball State plus nine and a half. You scoff but he doesn't lose. He's taking Oregon State. Oregon State is terrible. They're the one of two teams remaining from the Pac 12. There is no Pac 12. Wake Forest is is. Is the favorite by four points in that game. And he's taking Oregon State plus those four points. Yeah, he's taking Utah State over Hawaii. I don't know. I don't know if this game is being contested in the continental United States. I don't know.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
I think it's in Hawaii, so.
Tony Kornheiser
And he's taking Utah State minus one. Yeah, that's a long road trip. But that's what he's doing in the pros. He has two picks. He's taking Cleveland over the Steelers.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
No, Steelers getting five. Oh, he's taking the Steelers giving five rather, at home.
Tony Kornheiser
I didn't know he was taking. I thought it was the other way around. You sure? Yes.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Let me just double check.
Jeff Ma
Yes.
Tony Kornheiser
Steelers.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Oh, sorry. Minus five and a half.
Tony Kornheiser
Sorry. Okay, so he's got the Steelers in that game. I thought he had Cleveland in that game. Yeah.
Nigel
You sure that circled on your sheet?
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, that's fine. And one more. And this is a double play for James. That's correct. This is at James at his most confident. Yeah, he's taking the over in Detroit. Kansas City taking the over 52 and a half. A double play, right? That's correct. Yeah. I know you'll scoff at this like I would scoff at the Cleveland Steelers thing. You know, I guess I don't really think Steelers are any good, but we'll see. But again, last week, 4 and 1 overall. 19 and 11. All right, so we've got him and he's back home.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
He's back in the United States, at least for the day.
Tony Kornheiser
We know. Yeah. We don't know where he's going tonight.
Jason Locke
We have no idea.
Tony Kornheiser
And we will, you know, and we will now transition from James Carville to Jeff Ma. Jeff Ma is with us now to make picks and truth in advertising. We are taping this on Thursday evening, not Friday morning. But it's easier for Jeff because he lives in California. Jeff was 2 and 3 last week, and he's 14 and 13 overall. But the 2 and 3, one of those three happened on the last play of the Vanderbilt. Alabama game. Jeff had taken Vanderbilt plus 11 and a half and was cruising the entire game. They get to the last play. Alabama has the ball. There's nothing left to play for. Just, you know, they didn't take a knee, but they did a straight handoff to a running back who suddenly goes 25 yards for a touchdown and on the last play of the game kills the bet for Jeff Ma and thousands of other people who had bet on Vanderbilt. I was so moved. I called you. I called you. I guess I informed you of what happened. Your reaction was so calm, I was completely surprised. But talk about how that happens in betting and how you feel when you lose something like that.
Jeff Ma
Well, first of all, I thought it was a pocket dial, so I was. When it answered no. I mean, you can't. If you've been doing this as long as I have in many shapes and forms, meaning blackjack. Or sports betting or anything like that. You can't get wrapped up in any individual game. And you kind of hope that all of this stuff evens out over time. Obviously we tend to remember a lot of these things. It's something called confirmation bias, where we remember things that confirm a bias we have already. And that bias is like, I'm getting screwed, you know, and if you, if you let that happen to you, it will consume you because you don't remember the times that maybe you were on Alabama in that situation and that helped you out. You kind of laugh about it and you don't lament it. And so I think it's important not to lament these losses. Now, obviously, like with what SVP has done and everyone, this concept of bad beats has become like something that people talk about and laugh about and makes great content and, you know, got you off your couch to call me on Saturday afternoon to inform me of the terrible things that had happened to me. But, you know, it kind of is what it is. And again, like, I have experienced this, you know, I've been a what you would call an advantage gambler, meaning like someone that you believe has an edge, you know, since I was 21, I'm 53 now, so I've been doing this 32 years. And so in that 32 years, I have seen everything. This type of thing is probably one of the worst because to your point, there's like zero outcome in the game.
Tony Kornheiser
That even doesn't matter. It's not like blocking a field goal and going the length of the field. It's not like that at all. Games old.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, but you know, the thing that, and you'll notice this a lot more now, Tony, because you follow this, but the stuff that happens in college games at the end of games is completely nonsensical. At least in the NFL. That guy would have never done that. Right? That does not happen in the NFL.
Tony Kornheiser
No, does not.
Jeff Ma
In college it happens all the time. You have these third string kids that want to make their, their mark or, you know, you just don't. Or you even have coaches like that like James Franklin kind of like run stuff up in these situations that don't even matter. And so college, if that happened to me in the NFL, I probably would have been a lot more angry than I was knowing that in a college game nothing is ever for sure.
Tony Kornheiser
Well, it was just, I mean, I, I sat there and watched it and checked, you know, because I'd been rooting for you to win this one because you went with you Know, went with Vanderbilt. So I was just. I was a stunner to me. And. But this has happened to you before. I'm sure it's happened to you often, right? Yeah. I mean, because you gamble, like, has to.
Jeff Ma
The. The reference in this, and like, it's a famous story I tell, is that essentially when I was playing blackjack, you know, like seven months into the time, I had the opportunity, based on the Math, to bet two hands of $10,000, ended up doubling and splitting and re splitting. So ended up with $50,000 on the table. The dealer made a 21. And so I lost 50,000. And again, the math. And now everything we do at the blackjack table is governed by math. It's all completely objective based on numbers. Call for me to bet three heads of 10,000. And similarly, I doubled and split, ended up with $50,000 on table, and the dealer pulled another 21. So I lost $100,000, two hands of blackjack. And I had to figure out, especially that seven months into a career of blackjack, whether this is something I wanted to continue doing. And how do you go back and evaluate that type of an outcome? And again, the only way that you can get comfortable with that is evaluating it separate from the outcome and evaluating the process. And that is why our podcast is called that.
Tony Kornheiser
The process.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, because you literally have to think about the process and believe that if you continue doing the process correctly, the outcomes will come in line. And, you know, again, like, I famously told this story many times, and it is one of those stories that, you know, it really did shape who I am, where on a Saturday afternoon after something like that happens and you call me, I am calm because I know that. Know that there have been worse things that have happened to me, and there will be worse things that happen to me again in the gambling world as long as I continue to do them.
Tony Kornheiser
Well, speaking of the gambling world, give us your picks this week.
Jeff Ma
All right, we're going to go with a couple college games. You know, we talk about these a lot on Bet the Process because Rufus College stuff has been quite good. And these are two of Rufus College picks that I'm borrowing, but one is Michigan, plus the 2 1/2 over USC. USC is a team that is, you know, that they have a lot more talent than they did last year, but do they still have that talent better than Michigan? And my. My thought right here is that Michigan should not be an underdog here. And I like them. Plus the two and a half.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, what else?
Jeff Ma
And then I'm Going to take Indiana.
Tony Kornheiser
And what you are at Oregon. You're going to take them at Oregon. Okay.
Jeff Ma
Yeah. Plus seven and a half over Oregon. Again, like we talk a lot about, when you create a power ranking for a team, how much should you use the fact that they are Michigan or they are Oregon and they have a certain amount of talent and you had an opinion about them going into this year based on that versus based on what you have seen this year. And if you base not only on what you have seen this year, Indiana should not be a 7.5-point underdog. They should be much less. And this is a real going to be a real seminal moment for that team. If they can hang in this game and cover, they don't have to win, I think they will raise a lot of eyebrows and people will be believers in them right now. So I'm going to take Indiana.
Tony Kornheiser
Plus I'm just going to come back to you on this one point with Indiana. Indiana last year was undefeated, got into a big game, lost that game, got into the college playoffs, lost that game. This is the third time they will be in a circumstance where your identity is forged by what you do in this game. Does that worry you at all?
Jeff Ma
Yeah, I mean, that's the crux of this bet, right? The crux of this bet is that they have actually gotten to be better again. Like last year they had whatever, many transfers and some of them all come from James Madison and all that stuff. You know, this year, hopefully they have more dudes and they realized that they needed more dudes to compete at this level. And this is that game where they. We can see if they can compete at that level.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, how about pros?
Jeff Ma
All right, I'm going to take Cleveland, plus the six over the Steelers. You know, it's a little bit of a tough one for the Steelers or Cleveland, obviously with the travel, etc. But I do like them and their defense and their ability to kind of muck this game up. The reason this line is as big as it is is because of the tough spot that Cleveland's in. But I like their defense and I like their ability to make this a close game.
Tony Kornheiser
Do you have. You have some faith in the kid, Dylan, whatever his name is? Gabriel. Gabriel.
Jeff Ma
Dylan, yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
Dylan. Gabriel.
Jeff Ma
I mean, I think it's hard to have faith in any rookie quarterback. Look at the history of things he said. Have you looked at the stats of like every single starting Oklahoma quarterback over the last like some 10 years or something like that is now a starter in the NFL? If you go back to it, it's like, Baker Mayfield, Dylan Gabriel, Jalen hurts on and on.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Jeff Ma
I don't know if that means anything, but it's kind of an interesting fact. I, you know, he, he, he's beaten out Shoulder Sanders, whatever that means.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes, yes.
Jeff Ma
And he did have a good college career. Now, you know, the thing that is in his favor is he did play in college for a long time and he did play in a variety of systems. And I do think that helps you when you get to the NFL.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Okay, we can actually give that to you at six and a half.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, he'll take it.
Jeff Ma
We'll take it.
Tony Kornheiser
Go ahead. What else?
Jeff Ma
I'm going to take the Chiefs minus the 2 over Detroit. Obviously, this is a important spot for the Chiefs. I do think they've, you know, got to a place. We talked about their ability to get the ball downfield with Worthy back and Tyquan Thornton and whatnot. I think they can get the ball downfield. I think it's going to make a big difference. And I think at home only giving two points.
Jason Locke
I like the Chiefs here.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
How about a point and a half?
Jeff Ma
I like that even better.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
There you go.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay. Minus one and a half.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
We aim to please.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, I. My only. I understand how critical a game this may be in Kansas City. I just think Detroit is at the moment the best team in the NFL right now. So we'll see. All right. But it's a long season. What else? Give us another.
Jeff Ma
I'm going to take Atlanta plus the four and a half over the Bills. Atlanta has been a team that, like at home, has. Has been pretty good. Their defense is strong. I think the Bills, you know, I'm a Patriots fan, so it was great to see that Sunday night game, but, you know, was that a. I think, I think there are some holes in that Bill's armor. I think that the +4/2 year. Atlanta is the right number.
Tony Kornheiser
Is there anything else you're going to pick or. You got five?
Jeff Ma
I got five.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay. Thank you. Oh, Jeff. And who's on bet the process this week?
Jeff Ma
Let's see, this week we have a guy by the name of Golden Pants. And we talk a lot about Golden Pants.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
That's his name, Mr. Golden Pants.
Nigel
He's gonna be Golden.
Jeff Ma
He was a professional. Better. We talked a lot about prediction markets, which we've mentioned. We talked a little bit about the Ryder cup again, because it's really hard to not talk about that. And yeah, no, I think it's a good episode that Everyone should listen to.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, thanks, Jeff. We'll talk next week.
Jason Locke
Okay, bye.
Jeff Ma
Bye.
Tony Kornheiser
This week's picks with James Carville and Jeff Ma have been brought to you by FanDuel Sportsbook. Make every moment more and we will come back with email and jingle and I am Tony Kornheiser.
Musician or Band Member
You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show.
Singer or Musician

Tony Kornheiser
That's actually Dan Byrne and Tom Mosser. Yes. Just to try to get his pitch right.
Nigel
You know you gotta work for that final note.
Tony Kornheiser
Fantastic breath support. Do the Bethesda Bagel ad for us, please.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Yes, Bethesda Bagels, we love them. You will as well just go to Bethesda Bagel Bagels.com forward location in the DC area nearest you, then pop one in and you'll be thrilled.
Tony Kornheiser
So before we get to the mailbag, let me just say when I was younger, so much younger than today, I never needed anybody's help in any way. But now those days are gone I'm not so self assured Now I find I've changed my mind and open up the doors Help me if you can I'm feeling down and I do appreciate you being round Help me get my feet back on the ground Won't you please, please help me. Small group from England, long time ago. Thanks to our guest today, Jason Locanfura. Jeff Ma, thanks as well to today's sponsors. Remember, you can listen to us on Apple podcasts, Spotify, Audacy if you listen to the show through Apple. Please leave us a review from Glenn and Allen. Norwegian Soft Kitten. The official band of the Tony Kornheiser show that has Norwegian in its name but isn't actually from Norway. Tony and Nigel in regards to whether it's proper to say the moon is at its fullest or is most full. Our guitarist Glenn is an English professor at Purdue, Fort Wayne. And the correct grammar for when seeing a massive full moon is to say, quote that moon be big.
Jason Locke
Okay?
Tony Kornheiser
From Mark Feiner, Greenwich, Connecticut. From the desk of the self appointed unofficial interim English teacher of the Tony Korneiser show. Generally speaking, fullest is preferable to most full, as in living life to the fullest. Linguistic absolutists would tell you that occasions to use full in the comparative or superlative should be very rare as text. Technically something is full or it is not. So there are not degrees of fullness. That makes sense to me, but linguistic absolutists are insufferable and generally full of it. Leo Valverde in Phoenix, Arizona On Wednesday's show, you asked if Certified Bathroom Installer was Gobbledygook. As the manager of a test center, allow me to say that certified can be gobbledygook. Any organization can create a test to certify its members. For example, I had to put become certified to administer tests. However, some of the certifications we administer can be important, like surgeons, nurses, and teachers. We also certify arborists and yes, installers as well. If you want to create a test for a certified board operator, I'd be happy to administer the test to Nigel or Greg if I can be the certified certifier of the Tony Kornheiser Show. How about that?
Nigel
I don't like your chances.
Tony Kornheiser
From Steve Tabor in Fort Smith, Arkansas, your recent rant regarding television commercials evoke some bittersweet emotions within me. While it is true that I have enjoyed a satisfying and successful legal career these past 45 years, the last 20 as a judge, I was reminded I never achieved my childhood goal of becoming a certified factory technician. Sure, I enjoyed a few good years as a regular factory technician, but I could never pass the test and enjoy the rapture of being certified. Regrets? Yeah, I've had a few, but then again, too few to match. From Landon in Knightdale, North Carolina. Your suspicion of factory trained technician claims echoes mine on a product being made from natural ingredients. Rocks are natural. So are badgers. My all Natural face wash could legally be made of mercury and flint for all I know. David Epstein New York, New York Chuck and Roxy number 384 and the first ever in studio Little after your many years of asking, I finally decided to leave a review of the podcast on Apple. Here's an excerpt. It's a sports centric podcast that mixes in everyday life. Do they deal with the biggest issues of the day? No. Frankly, a lot of it is small potatoes. That's funny and true. Mark Hughes in Ashton, Maryland I have no real idea what this harvest moon is all about, but it seems to me that the glorious harvest moon was mocking your meager potato harvest by appearing in all its glory while the Kornheiser Farm potato yield sat forlornly on your kitchen table.
Nigel
We have the Beaver moon coming up in just under a month.
Tony Kornheiser
The Beaver Moon Bill Matfeld, Fort Mill, South Carolina Michael advised that you should put your potatoes in a cold, dark place. Place after another typical NAT season is Your soul a good spot. Funny. Okay, this is from Wayne Nifkowski, who says quoted. We revealed thoughts on the mother of the potato being a tomato. We revealed that tomato is the mother of potato researcher Sanguine Wang, whose team studied 100 plus genomes from potatoes, tomatoes and other plant species. They found that millions of years ago, a potato like species and an ancient tomato exchange genes. Without this evolutionary event, the tuber we know would not exist. Potato, potato, tomato, tomato. That's brilliant. From Samuel Albin. If you're still looking for a good place for seasonal potato storage, may I recommend that you put them in the pantry with your cupcakes? That's funny. I put them in a brown bag and I put them in a pantry, you know, on the top shelf so that Carol wouldn't take them down and throw them out. Dale lukanich in Manuka, Illinois, on the Wednesday, October 8th podcast, you played a song called Ike Dollar. Your comment was maybe that's the last time a dollar was worth a dollar during the Ike administration. I'm sending you a picture of a US Ike dollar. The Ike dollars were only made by the US Mint between 1971 and 1978. Not a popular coin if you don't already have one. Can I be the official numismatist of the Tony Corn? I sure.
Nigel
Yes.
Tony Kornheiser
This is Dwight Eisenhower. Yeah. These are $1 coins.
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
Wasn't it. Wasn't the phrase I like Ike? Was that his I like?
Jeff Ma
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
Dwight Eisenhower was called Ike. Yeah. From Mark Panachel in Butler, Pennsylvania. Okay. Penn. A. Shelli. Oh, he gives a pronunciation. Mark Pennacelli. Did you pronounce the last name correctly the first time you said it last week? Oh, you did. Okay. From Butler, Pennsylvania. That Butler, Penn. You responded to my original email on your Friday, October 3rd show regarding my visit to Rehoboth. Alas. Alas, I totally flushed the mouse on that one. As the woman tomb. I'm related by marriage and I did not listen to that part until we began our return journey to Pennsylvania Monday morning. I can say we had a wonderful time and can share some recommendations of our own. Breakfast Crystal Restaurant, of course, the Crystal. We always go to the Crystal. Yeah, we brought Bootsy to the Crystal.
Musician or Band Member
Loved it.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, the Crystal.
Nigel
The hammer was there.
Tony Kornheiser
He was there as well, but didn't. Didn't speak. As I recall.
Nigel
You're an intimidating fellow.
Tony Kornheiser
I don't want to be. I don't want to be. And the Point Coffee Shop and Bakery. Yeah, that's, you know, that's right up as you're driving down Rehoboth Avenue to get on Route 1. It's right on the left hand side.
Nigel
Also check out Cafe Go Go.
Tony Kornheiser
Also Pasqualini's Bakery which is at the back side of the Crystal. We're all delightful in a short walk from our rented cottage and restaurant West Rehoboth near geo's Pizza Dinner. I wish you would have heard your suggestions, but Victoria's in the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel was a treat. The atmosphere, service and food were all excellent. We recommend it highly, especially on the patio next to the boardwalk overlooking the beach and ocean if you're into that sort of thing. We also enjoyed taking in many other experiences including Thrashers. Thank you Nigel, Dolly's Candyland, Core Brothers, Cape Henlopen State Park, Fort Miles Battery and Museum, Funnel Cake Factory, and many of the charming shops on and between Wilmington, Rehoboth and Baltimore Avenues. Thank you for your response. I'm sure we'll take up your suggestions on a return trip. Please consider me the TK Show Western Pennsylvania Rehoboth Beach Correspondent if that spot has not been taken. Incidentally, you also read my wife's email regarding our trip on this Monday's Pot Nicole from Pittsburgh from the Pittsburgh area. So now she has the same emails number of emails read on your show as I do and that makes me a little crazy. Maybe this one will get me one up again. Yeah.
Nigel
Also a great little breakfast spot called Duncan and known for its customer service.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh yeah, or known for the fact that sometimes they don't have coffee at 6:30 in the morning. Really?
Guest or Co-host (possibly Jeff or Jason)
And choose not to answer your questions.
Tony Kornheiser
That's when you want it. Jim Carlisle in Simi Valley, California before Monday show I was thinking it was possible the Yankees could fire Aaron Boone if they lost to the Blue Jays. But after Buster only say it wouldn't happen, I said to myself, well, I trust Buster. Then I realized it sounded like I was talking about Teddy Roosevelt. Look it up kids. And one more from Mark Feiner in Greenwich, Connecticut. Do we do an earlier one, Professor? Second one. Nigel, what are you doing?
Nigel
I need to know about the interim position.
Tony Kornheiser
Once again a lesser man has won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Laszlo Krasnowhorke has won for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that in the midst of apocalyptic terror reaffirms the power of art. Has he written about the terror of moth eaten sweaters of two small rock hard potatoes and vindictive squirrels of having to change the channel from 857 to 859 and back again without the aid of A list. A last button. The power of art is nothing in the face of these horrors. Mr. Tony, your very existence is apocalyptic terror. And this chump is now in the toy. This chump is Snow in the Toy hall of Fame. I demand a recount. It's a brilliant email. I'm glad we got to that one as well. If you're out on your bike tonight, everyone is always to wear white. Like to say thank you.

Guests/Co-hosts: Nigel, Jason La Canfora, Jeff Ma
This episode of "The Tony Kornheiser Show" opens with Tony's signature blend of humor and exasperation, venting about household challenges (notably, a doomed bike rack experiment) before moving swiftly into gratitude for the show's listeners and supporters. The central theme is a deep-dive into the latest sports world developments—most notably the MLB playoffs and NFL matchups—interlaced with Tony's reflections on new media consumption habits, beloved running bits, community notes, and, as always, a generous mailbag. The episode features expert segments on betting and NFL analysis, and ends with the show's characteristic listener interaction and music.
