Previously on the Tony Kornheiser Show. Maggie doesn't bark and Carol decides. At that point, Maggie is deaf and somebody is wandering around the house and Carol sees it's a man, doesn't know who this is and hides. And then at one point sticks her head up and the guy goes, oh, oh, I'm. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I must be in the wrong house. He says, I'm Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary, and she thinks you are. If I had a hammer, I'd hit you in the head with it. That's what she's thinking. The Tony Kornheiser show is on now. When did that happen? How many years ago did that happen? More than 20 no, no, no.
Michael Wilbon
More than 15 to 18.
Nigel
Yeah, I would say 15. It was when we were doing the show at a WTOP. So what was that, like 06 07?
Tony Kornheiser
Something like that. Okay.
Michael Wilbon
I love that your first reaction is, this is content.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Michael Wilbon
Walk into the office with a smile.
Nigel
Oh, it was great. You said, I got one today.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. It's a good story. It is a good story. I wish I was present for it, but I wasn't.
Michael Wilbon
I mean, it's no congressional pool deck.
Tony Kornheiser
No, that's a much better story. You get air conditioning. Let's get it out here. Turn it up. Get it out here now. It's too hot. I'm not doing the show from here. I. I don't have much to do in the open today except talk about the football game last night. Let me first commend Chuck Culpepper's story in the Washington Post today, which is beautiful. It's a beautiful story about this game and about the history of. Of Notre Dame this year with that kicker. Anyway, there's a couple of things I want to say. One is about before the game. I don't know how many people watch this. I mean, the game, you know, in your mind, they're telling you that the game is going to start at 7:30, but it's not going to start at 7:30. It's going to start at 7:45 or 7:50 or maybe even 8. And you know this intellectually, you know this young man's game, but you get caught up in the fact that they keep telling you it's going to start at 7:30.
Michael Wilbon
It's like market price.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. Yeah. Tonight's right. That's right. Tonight's game's not going to start at 7:30 either. No, it's not. Okay. So then they have. This is what I want to get to, the ceremonial coin toss. And this is at the Orange Bowl. The Orange bowl is. It's. I know you think of it as a bowl game, but the Orange bowl is actually the name of a stadium. I mean, it was called the Orange bowl long before there was a thing called the Orange Bowl. It's called the Orange Bowl. It's in Miami. And so as in deference to that and the silliness of the bowl games, which not only don't exist anymore, but those that exist don't matter. No, they simply don't matter.
Nigel
Not at all.
Tony Kornheiser
But this anachronistic feeling goes on. And people come out there, there's three people being introduced to the captains of both teams, Penn State And Notre Dame, as they line up for the ceremonial coin toss, two of them are involved with the Orange bowl, and they are wearing orange blazers. This is the way it used to be that you would. What designated each bowl game was the blazer that people wore. And there would be 20 people on the field wearing these blazers. And I grew up with this. I grew up watching this. And I thought from the time that I was able to discern anything that it was foolishness, that the blazers were ugly and that they. Everyone looked stupid. Everyone looked like a penguin, Just was dopey. But, okay, that's what they did. Sometimes they had designed blazers, you know, splashy blazers, the kind that they have. What's the tournament in South Carolina at Hilton Head.
Michael Wilbon
Oh, the heritage.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. Don't you.
Michael Wilbon
So it's not like a gust where they give you one blazer and you're sort of expected to stay within that size.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. No. So. But in. You know, some of these things had a lot of color to them. They were madras, maybe, and they were. One was uglier than the next. They never looked good. And even if it was a plain blue blazer, they put the insignia of the bowl game on so large that you couldn't wear it for anything else.
Michael Wilbon
You just couldn't wear bigger than the cbsi.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, much bigger. Oh, significantly bigger. Yeah. And if they could have, they'd have put it on the back, too. Oh, yeah. But there was no shot of these people walking away, only walking towards. So last night, these two people are wearing the blazer, the Orange bowl blazer, and a third guy is out there, a tall, thin guy who I recognize right away and others probably recognize right away. And he is introduced by the referee to the captains as simply the Capital One guy. Okay. Because Capital One is sponsoring the semifinals, I guess both of them, certainly last night. Capital One is sponsoring last night. And this is the guy who is always wearing a blue blazer, something that sort of kind of looks like jeans, but might not be jeans and a T shirt. And he is supposed to be relatable to people under the age of 40 to convince them to bank. If anyone goes to banks anymore, to convince them to bank at Capital One. He's in every commercial. He's even in a commercial where he spotlighted Derek Jeter is in the commercial. And all the kids say, no, no, not you. The Capital One guy. They want the Capital One guy to talk. Whoever this actor is, he went home last night and he had to think to himself, have I done the right thing here? Because I'M introduced to the world as the Capital One Guy. Nobody knows my name. I'm just the Capital One Guy. Now, Stephanie Courtney, a graduate of Binghamton University, has been FLO on Progressive Insurance for 25 to 30 years and killed it and makes a lot of money being Flo.
Nigel
And it's hysterical.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, she's really good. Really is. Yeah, but she's floating now. The difference is if she wants to change her hair and change her look, you won't know she's Flo. She can get a job acting. She's, she's in, you know, she's in those comedy troops in Los Angeles, the ground. Yeah, she's in all those things and she's had work, but there's a certain look that Flo has and she's Flo and this guy. At least she's Flo. At least she has a name. This guy is just the Capital One guy. And I started to laugh, you know, and I wrote, I took some notes like, if you think it's about anything other than money, you're crazy. It's just simply about money. The answer to all your questions. And the head referee actually said, here's the Capital One Guy.
Nigel
Yeah, I'm reading it right up right now. The fellow's name is Jeremy Brandt.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Nigel
B R A N D T. It gets better.
Michael Wilbon
He was in one episode of the O.C. season 3, is that right? Yes, one episode.
Tony Kornheiser
He looks like a guy in his early 40s summer family.
Michael Wilbon
Like a medical drama.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. What else?
Nigel
Well, it says. Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, there's a write up of this.
Nigel
Well, it just is. It included representatives for the bowl game, the Capital One including, other than the Capital One bank guy, of course, the actors, they give his name Jeremy Brandt. But old habits die hard. And the Orange Bull referee went with a Capital One moniker instead of the actors given name.
Tony Kornheiser
Didn't give his name, just introduced him to Capital One Guy. Millions and millions of people. Here's the Capital One Guy. I'm telling you, he's. He's home now thinking, have I made a mistake?
Nigel
Well, you're certainly in a box.
Tony Kornheiser
Have I made a mistake? Yeah, that was better than the game. At least the part of the game that I watched. I watched the first half, it was terrible. Yeah, it was dull. It got great. I understand it has a wonderful ending. I'm going to talk about it today. I saw it, you know, I've seen all the replays. I know what the game is about. But the first half was awful and neither team quarterback could pass Leonard or Allard they couldn't pass. And. And what I thought about. I didn't think about it in the moment when I was writing Wilbon texts saying, these guys can't pass. And Wilbourne's writing back, they can't pass. That's what I thought about this morning, is something that we will all readily nod our heads at. We are spoiled by the NFL. We're spoiled. You watch the red zone. There's nothing but great plays. You throw a pass, the receiver catches the pass, he catches it, you know, falling down with three people around him. The skill level on professional football, NFL. The skill level professional basketball, NBA. The skill level in the NHL. The skill level in Major League Baseball is amazing. The skill level in golf, skill level in tennis. These are the best of the best of the best. And these kids we're watching are college kids. I'm not going to say they're college students. Please don't get me started on that. They are professional athletes in college, but they are not playing on the level that the NFL is played at. They're getting a lot of nil money. So you think to yourself, well, they got to be really great. They're not. They're better than most in college. They're not really great at the moment. And I just. You know what I watch, I go, wow, it's not that good. It's unfair. My judgment is unfair, but it is based on the fact that the NFL guys are so good.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah. And it's 12 hours later. The reflection of. Oh, that penalty that you saw in the corner of the end zone. Oftentimes in the NFL, you see the person have the obligatory turnaround right at the correct second because they're timing it in their head or the pass that's at the feet. You make sure that it's really at the feet or it's just out of bounds.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. So I mean, it's just a. It's a higher level of. Of what's like.
Nigel
Yeah, a pitcher. Yeah. I'm gonna hit that. That spot 10 times in a row.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Nigel
You know, they just do.
Michael Wilbon
Do what they want and change pace doing it.
Nigel
Exactly.
Tony Kornheiser
I remember. What was the year that we. 2004. We went to the Masters.
Michael Wilbon
Yes.
Tony Kornheiser
And we were there for the practice day.
Michael Wilbon
No, we were there for Friday when we were there. Palmer's last day.
Tony Kornheiser
When we. When were we there for the.
Michael Wilbon
2018.
Tony Kornheiser
So I went to watch a practice. Phil Mickelson was hitting wedge shots, and Bones was his caddy at the time. And Phil would say, I'm going out to 47 yards. 47 yards. Bit vague. And he would measure it off, and then he would hit five shots that landed and stopped within three feet of the green. Because they're not only are they that good, he was one of the two or three best players out there. He's one of the 20 best players of all time, and that's what he could do. And a college kid can't do that. Best college kid can't do that.
Michael Wilbon
It's more one dimensional. So, again, think of the same tournament I was at, a different year, but I watched. I walk into Tiger hitting pitch shots, and to see players hit hooks and cuts as to how they're able to control the ball around the green, that's where you start to see the changing of the height and just the speed and the timing all work together. I think you might be thinking of Phil going back 25 years to the President's cup at RTJ maybe.
Tony Kornheiser
But I remember watching it and thinking, almost dialed in.
Michael Wilbon
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
No, and it was. It was not like, I'll just stand over here. He wanted an exact yardage. Yeah. Like not. Not about 50. No, no, no. 48 and 3.
Nigel
47.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. That's. So that's. All right. That's all I got. We're gonna have. Who do we have today? Jason. We have Jason. We're gonna bring Jason on first and then Carville and Ma. Yes. Later in the show. I am Tony Kornheiser. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser Show. We have a new sponsor, Maryland. As in Dr. Maryland. Doctor, doctor, Mr. M.D.
Nigel
Give me the news.
Tony Kornheiser
Maryland. Hearing. This is hearing aids.
Michael Wilbon
What?
Tony Kornheiser
Hearing aids. You don't need hearing aids.
Michael Wilbon
I'm getting closer.
Tony Kornheiser
I need hearing aids. I don't need them when I do the podcast because I have stuff in my ear. Cranked up to 11 microphones in my ear. I don't need it when I do the television show. Yeah. Because I have stuff in my ear. But I can no longer watch television without closed caption. And I can't.
Nigel
Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
You know, millions of adults every year over the age of 65 start to lose their hearing. If you or your parent are one of them, you're not alone. I know I'm not alone because everybody I play golf with at Columbia has hearing aids. I know I'm not alone. MDhearing makes high quality, easy to use, rechargeable hearing aids with exceptional sound quality that are personalized to your hearing profile and cost a fraction of what typical hearing aids cost. MD Hearing's NEO model costs over 90% less than clinic hearing aids. The Neo fits inside your ear so no one will even know it's there. Well, you're going to know it's there and you can see it. Let's not get crazy. If you need hearing aids like first of all, half of America walks around with ipods in their ear. Yeah, right.
Nigel
Or earbuds.
Tony Kornheiser
Earbuds, whatever they're called.
Michael Wilbon
Your mate will know.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, every, yeah, you know, so everybody's got those. Maryland Hearing just launched the Neo XS Maryland Hearing smallest hearing aid ever. Maryland Hearing was founded by an ENT surgeon, ear, nose and throat who saw how many of his patients needed hearing aids but couldn't afford them. He made it his mission to develop a quality hearing aid that anyone could afford. MD Hearing has sold over 2 million hearing aids and they offer a 45 day risk trial with a 100% money back guarantee. So you can buy with confidence. You think you're beginning to need hearing aids? Michael?
Michael Wilbon
I'm focused on a yes.
Tony Kornheiser
Really? I took a hearing, I've taken tests over the years and they all indicate when I was 60 they indicated I had the hearing of an 80 year old.
Michael Wilbon
Pretty good.
Tony Kornheiser
Now my hearing is of 110.
Michael Wilbon
This is where you have to like in the room, go from left to right as the noise pings around.
Tony Kornheiser
I, yeah, I don't, I have no idea what's being said by the way. I don't mind that often.
Nigel
Right.
Tony Kornheiser
I don't really want to listen to anybody but when I'm watching television, I, I do, I want to hear it and I don't.
Nigel
Would you remember the thing that like the fellows from pti, they sent over the, the tone test, you know, and.
Tony Kornheiser
If you couldn't hear it. Yeah.
Nigel
And I've, I've had headphones blasting my ears for decades.
Tony Kornheiser

This is Josh Langland, who writes to us. Here is my debut song titled down in the Valley. It was written and recorded on the Olympic peninsula in the great state of Washington. My music is tough to nail down to just one genre, but there's no doubt I've been heavily influenced by the wonders, the Herdsman and Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. Thank you for spinning my record. Anyone can stream it on Spotify. Again, Josh Langland, down in the Valley. Very nice music and very nice note. It is, yes. And it plays in Jason Locke and Fora. We are joined as the copy goes by Odyssey NFL Insider, Jason Locanfora, host of the podcast in the Puddle. In the puddle should be in the puddle in the huddle. Excuse me. Covering the entire NFL. Let me just start with this. We did this yesterday on pti. This Belichick story that the Raiders have reached out to Belichick now he's the coach of North Carolina. That through Tom Brady, the Raiders have reached out to Belichick now. Wilbourne was very dismissive of of it. I was sort of amazed by it. Why would you do it now? If Brady's involved, why wouldn't you have done it months ago? But do you put any stock in the reports of the Raiders wanting Belichick?
Jason Locanfora
No.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Jason Locanfora
Bill Belichick's been available to talk to for, you know, a calendar year.
Tony Kornheiser
He.
Jason Locanfora
Yeah, everywhere. You can't turn on the television and not see Bill Belichick. It's not like he is some recluse without an agent who. People have been trying to tap into his beautiful mind, but, my God, nobody could find him. It's just not the case. And Bill Belichick, if he had his druthers, would be coaching in the NFL. And the Raiders began falling apart in September. Tom Brady's been there for while. There are a bunch of different ways that you could have conveyed different things to Bill Belichick, other than, you know, this poppycock of, well, we'll give him $10 million to walk away from a job he just took. You know, we'll pay the buyout. Like, no, I don't expect that to happen. I don't think that's realistic. I don't think that's how these things are done. Even the most incompetent NFL organizations, when they start contemplating are we going to roll with this or not, it's you. There's nothing precluding you from talking about Belichick. There's no tampering.
Tony Kornheiser
He's not under contract anyway.
Jason Locanfora
Right? I mean, like, literally, you could turn on your TV set and, what time is this hit over with Eli and Peyton? Okay, I'm going to call him 10 minutes after that. Like, stop. This is. No, this is ridiculous.
Tony Kornheiser
This is how I felt that Tom. What are you telling me? Tom Brady didn't have his number, so Tom Brady would call Kraft and get the number. It's. And if you say, well, we didn't know we were going to fire Antonio Pierce, that. That doesn't cut it either. Because if Bill Belichick's name was being floated out there, you would, of course, call him to find out was he interested at all. Right?
Jason Locanfora
Tom Brady knows the entire staff. Tom Brady could call Josh McDaniels and say, what? What does Bill have cooking? What are you guys thinking? I mean, there's a million different ways that. I mean, you know, the band that he's bringing the chap, you know, that he ultimately brought the Chapel Hill, like, you know, it's. You know, it's. It's Mike Lombardi, and it's going to be, why am I blanking? On his name with the pencil behind his ear. Who now's cut his hair. Matt. Patricia. Yeah, come on. You know, you know who he's hanging out with and you know who he's bringing in. Like this is not some sort of secret. This is not some mystical talisman that you know is again in the ether somewhere and nobody can find him.
Tony Kornheiser
Now. That's how I feel. Now they fired Antonio Pierce. He had a 10 game losing streak and maybe they'd seen him for most of two seasons and decided he isn't any good. But they deliberately, they mentioned that they were keeping the gm, then fired him three days later.
Jason Locanfora
What's that other messed up. I mean, look there, I'm not. Nothing I said about that Bill Belichick thing is to, is to, in any way, I'm not attempting to whitewash the ridiculousness that goes on in these organizations. Like they're capable of great feats of incompetency and many of them do this over and over and over again, specifically around the coaching and GM positions. It's a gong show out there. And Mark Davis, he likes to bang the gong. He's been unable to get out of his own way. He, you know, look, the deal to go to Vegas was pretty much done by a bunch of people around him and he had a rubber stamp. And I don't think that's something he's putting together himself without having casino, you know, lords and other people involved really kind of doing a lot of the heavy lifting. He has been pretty incompetent. And they can't identify a coach, a GM and a quarterback to get them anywhere close to where they want to go. How much Tom Brady can help, you know, we'll find out.
Tony Kornheiser
Well, he can help. He's the best quarterback on the team right now. If he puts on pads, he can help.
Jason Locanfora
Well, that's true. That part is true. Yes. But in terms of the, you know, the figuring out the brain trust and figuring out the players and all that and making people want to stay there for any period of time, I don't know. There's been a lot of great players who haven't turned out to be great executives and there's some who have. But the thing about keeping Telesco, who had a pretty, you know, he had a good draft and, you know, I think did put a few pieces in place in a short period of time, but like you're just adding a layer of sort of an extra layer of questions and an extra layer of things to sort through with the coaching search. Because not everybody's going to want to work for Telesco and not everybody wants to go in a building where you know, the other guy's been there longer than you and he's got pre existing relationships and you don't really know him and you don't really know how much you should trust him. And some of your got, your buddies are saying he's a good dude and others are saying, I don't know, like you just eliminate all that. And again, this is not a GM who's been uber accomplished and has this amazing resume. So it's like, well, you put up with some of that because of what he's done. It was a checkered sort of run in San Diego and it was a very short run in one year, one year in Vegas. I think he's someone who was telling his friends even when Vegas started interviewing him around this time last year. Like, I'm not sure why this guy wants to talk to me. Like I'm gonna step away for a couple years. Like I'm, I'm kind of getting out of this racket for a minute. And then, you know, Mark Davis eventually convinced him that, no, no, you're still a gm.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, yeah, that, that, you know, I wouldn't want to work for him, honestly. I mean, he's very flighty. Let me move on. Another guy I might not want to work for. Jerry Jones. Do you have any sense of what's happening with Mike McCarthy?
Jason Locanfora
Yeah, I wrote about the post a few weeks back. He's going to pay this guy more than he wants to, to stay in the job that he's in. I mean, that's where this was going for weeks. Jerry's not like wanting to run around and compete with five or six other owners for a head coach who he's not convinced is better than the one he has. Jerry very much wants people who understand what the deal is in Dallas and are willing to go through with it and win a bunch of regular season games along the way. And that's exactly what Mike McCarthy's done. He doesn't rock the boat. He doesn't complain about personnel. He doesn't talk about all the stupid things that Jerry and Steven Jones do in negotiations. He lets those guys take the victory laps when things go well, and he lets them sort of shirk responsibility and say inane things when the team that they set up that's not as good as they think it is actually turns out to be not that good. So like they, they, they've had it the other way They've had it with Parcells. They didn't like that. And since then, they've kind of gone with guys like this, so. And in terms of him, he was going to have a market. If. If one or two other billionaires want four hours of your time, you have a market. And that was. He was going to have that market. Like the Raiders were going to want to talk to him. At least one other team was going to want to talk to him. And so how does Jerry handle that now? Jerry's got about, what, four days left of an exclusive negotiating window. Whether they agree to something then or after, I still think Jerry will ultimately be willing to pay more than anybody else.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, so I'm interrupting here to explain exactly what just happened over the last 20 minutes that you who are listening have no idea about. Jason was talking, and then he cut off from us, and then we couldn't get our microphones to work. And then Nigel called Sean, who was a genius, and Sean told him how to fix this, and he fixed it, and we think it's fixed. And I will say to Jason that where. Where you were was saying about the market that Mike McCarthy has and. And essentially saying he was a competent coach and that Jerry Jones was going to end up paying more for him than he probably has to, which he has done with Dak Prescott, which he has done with CD Lamb, which he has done with everyone. Which gets me to this particular question. Has Jerry Jones now become his own worst enemy on that team?
Jason Locanfora
Sure. Yeah. No. Absolutely. And look, Jerry Jones, I think he says he talks a lot, and a lot of it is just eyewash and poppycock. Yeah, whatever. But he did speak a little bit at length in one of his radio interviews that he does in Dallas, and he was asked about that, being the general manager of the team, and. And like, he's having way too much fun doing it his way to ever do it anybody else's. And he's still making a lot of money.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah.
Jason Locanfora
We could quibble about would he make more money if this team actually maximized its assets and had a better GM and was able to take advantage of a division that has been pretty spotty quite often since he last won a Super Bowl. And we could. But he's still making plenty to make him happy, and he's doing it his way. And so at the end of the day, this isn't about your version of the Dallas Cowboys or what the Dallas Cowboys could be. You know, if this guy ran them or that guy ran. Like, that's not what this is about. It's his vision, it's. It's his vanity project. And you're all along for the ride. And he's still tapping you out for way more money, Cowboys fans than he probably should. Okay, but it's not about being the best franchise it could possibly be. It's not about winning every year and him staying out of the way. It's about him trying to stumble into winning once his way.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, no, I get that. I get that. That's, that's how it appears to me as well. The Rams game against. Who were the Rams playing? Minnesota.
Nigel
Minnesota.
Tony Kornheiser
That's right. Has been moved. It has been moved because of the fires in Los Angeles. You have to move it. You have to move all sporting events out of Los Angeles while this is going on. We all understand that. I wondered why Arizona and do you think that would have any effect on the game?
Jason Locanfora
Well, it's certainly. This whole situation is obviously affecting the lives and I would imagine sort of the psyches and everything else of the, of the Rams players and of many people in their organization. And this is, you know, sort of quickly crept much closer to where a lot of these guys live. You know, they were saying there 48 hours ago, you know, Arizona, it's a stadium that's NFL equipped. That's the first thing. They have a lot of it, technological requirements, infrastructure innards that have to be available for them to tap into to broadcast the game the way they need to broadcast the game with all the intricacies of instant replay and everything else. And not, not every, by any stretch of the imagination, College stadium is, is already outfitted for what they need. You know, the geography, it's, you know, I don't know, a very short flight from there. It's, it's a climate controlled stadium. So even if you do get residue or some sort of unusual weather occurrence for, you know, the Pacific Southwest, they, they've still got it covered.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Jason Locanfora
In terms of the stadium.
Jeff Ma
So.
Jason Locanfora
And it's available. Yeah, yeah, it's available because the Cardinals didn't make playoffs again and they're not hosting any of this college stuff the way they might be on certain days in other years. So big is probably just basically that those logistics.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, that makes sense to me. Plug your radio show for us.
Jason Locanfora

So this is the men's game. The women's game was the other night. This is the men's game. I hope it's as good. I'm not sure it will be the women's game. Two top 10 teams. That's really good. Tony Kornheiser. The new walk up music for James Carville. This week's picks with James Carville and Jeff Ma brought to you by FanDuel Sportsbook. Make every moment more Carville now. Four and one last week, 17 and four in the last four weeks, 55 and 51 overall. The people you are talking to have unlocked the treasure door, right? They're great.
Josh Langland
We just want to say all things are possible.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah, it's just been fabulous. Fabulous. Run 17 and four in four weeks.
Josh Langland
If I go four and one this weekend, we're going to have to do How Great Thou Art by Lauren Daigle.
Nigel
Okay, we've already got it lined up.
Tony Kornheiser
That's all right. That's all right.
Josh Langland
So we got to go 4 and 1. That's hard to do.
Tony Kornheiser
What have you got?
Josh Langland
All right. Ohio State and Texas take Ohio State minus five and a half.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Josh Langland
Steelers, Ravens under 44.
Tony Kornheiser
Steelers, Ravens under. Usually you go over, but you're going under 40.
Josh Langland
Under. Go over, under.
Nigel
I've got it at 43 and a half.
Tony Kornheiser
43 and a half. It's. No, you don't want that. You don't want that.44. You want.
Nigel
Okay.
Tony Kornheiser
All right, go ahead.
Josh Langland
Okay. Buffalo Broncos take the Bills minus eight and a half. And just so you know, I hadn't gone crazy, take the over 47 and a half.
Tony Kornheiser
Over 47 and a half. Okay.
Josh Langland
And eight and a half on the point spread.
Jason Locanfora
Take the favorite.
Tony Kornheiser
Right.
Josh Langland
And I hate to do this, going against my man Jaden Daniels, but take the Bucks minus three against the Commanders.
Tony Kornheiser
Tampa Bay minus three against Washington. I think most people feel that same way that a playoff game is different as a rookie. Yeah. You know, on the road, a little bit different. I do see different.
Nigel
I do see Bills giving eight. Would you like that?
Tony Kornheiser
He would like eight.
Jason Locanfora
I would like that. Thank you.
Nigel
Then you get eight.
Josh Langland
Yes, sir, we get eight.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay. That's it.
Josh Langland
Give us some good games going here.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay. Did you like the game last night?
Josh Langland
How could you not like it? I mean, it was an exciting football game.
Tony Kornheiser
Well, I thought the first half was dreadful. I mean, a little bit. Yeah. They couldn't pass.
Josh Langland
You're right.
Tony Kornheiser
Neither kid could pass.
Josh Langland
You know, that's not. I said Notre Dame for some reason. Doesn't impress me. Not in the final game. So, you know, I think they've covered their last like 12 in a row or something.
Tony Kornheiser
So they've been doing all of that. You know, part of it I think is Penn State. Their record with James Franklin against top five teams is now 1 and 14. And they've lost 11 games in a row when they were the underdog. That's, you know, they're not good enough. Right. That's what it tells you.
Josh Langland
I mean they, I mean I don't. I think LSU is somewhat similar. Three national championships in the century. So we're not. That doesn't make us.
Jason Locanfora
But you know, we got to break.
Josh Langland
Out of the Penn State mode, you know. Yeah. You know, I think Ohio State might be as good as anybody in a long time. You just have that feeling.
Tony Kornheiser
Last two weeks they've been great. They've been great. All right, James, good luck with this.
Josh Langland
All right, man. We might, we might. Let's have a big weekend and where history will be made. Right.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay. Carville has been absolutely. Carville has been absolutely great again. 17 and 4 in the last four weeks. That's tremendous. The playoffs.
Nigel
He knows when the time to come alive.
Tony Kornheiser
So we're going to talk to Jeff Ma now and in the interest of full disclosure, for the second week in a row we're going to do this. Well, we've already done this on Thursday night and we did this because it's crazy to wake Jeff up at 5 in the morning all the time. It makes no sense. Let's get him when he's actually awake. He's going to make the same picks. It's not really going to matter.
Michael Wilbon
To show off that sweater you know I'm wearing.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes, Michael likes. Yes.
Michael Wilbon
That's all zip.
Tony Kornheiser
It's really nice. So we have Jeff on and everybody knows that Jeff and Rufus do bet the process. But in this particular case I know Jeff and we learn more about people when we have them on the air and they become our friends. And in this case, Jeff's dad passed away last week and Jeff would like to talk about him a little bit. And I am interested in this talk.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, I mean my dad was a traditional, sort of stereotypical almost Chinese immigrant. Came over for school. But you know, first off he was born in China and moved to Taiwan in the late 1940s when the Communists took over. Went to the National Taiwan University. There was valedictorian of his college department like always. And these are all self reported things so who knows how much urban legend there is involved in this. But my dad was quite. Played smart, was the, you know, didn't have to take the national Mittens exam in Taiwan. Just got to Go wherever he wanted. Came over to get his masters in Notre Dame and he actually passed the day that Notre Dame was playing Georgia. So I kind of knew Notre Dame was going to win because he was actually a Notre Dame football fan. But the story he always tells is that he took a boat, like literally came over on a boat from Taiwan to Seattle, then gotten a bus from Seattle to South Bend, Indiana. So imagine being a 22 year old person from Taiwan who was the kind of guy that used to as a kid had to catch fireflies and jars to read by and says that he was a chemical engineer because one of his brother's friends was a chemical engineer and it sounded interesting. Kim got a master's at Notre Dame and then eventually went to MIT and got his PhD in chemical engineering. Only had one job his entire life, was a professor in chemical engineering at the WPI Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He and my mother were together for 68 years before my mom passed. They were age 13 to 81 when she passed. And he was probably the most devoted husband I've ever seen. Where, you know, it was, it was when she had a stroke 10 years before she passed. He became her caregiver and it was interesting to see that transformation for him. But you know, he and my mom sort of saved everything they could so we could have the best education we could. Three kids went to Phillips Exer Academy, not Choate or Loomis Chaffee, but they went there and we went to MIT and they funded all of that for us and gave us all a better life. And so, you know, I appreciate being able to talk about him. I'm incredibly proud of him as a father and like, you know, having now a five and seven year old learned a lot about how much sacrifice that they gave for us and has taught me as a dad that my job is sacrifice and my job is to give my children the best life that they can have and to do that through education and learning. And you know, it's end of his life was tough and I think if anyone that's been through it knows how tough that can be. Meaning like he wasn't himself and you know, the end was, I would say, sad but not tragic. And so it's just nice to be able to talk about him in a format of this sort of connective tissue that your show brings.
Tony Kornheiser
So let me ask a few questions to make clear he chose to come to the United States. He was not free. It may have been for political reasons, but he was not fleeing. Am I correct on that?
Jeff Ma
No. At that point, he was in Taiwan, so there was no fleeing. He came for education, I think. You know, I don't know if I ever really asked him, like, why did you come? But I'm guessing he believed that the education here was just better, and so that's why he came. It's funny because my mom did not take the boat and did not take the bus. My mom literally just hopped on a flight and came here. She borrowed money from some Catholic priests that she knew because she was like a converted Catholic. And she went to nursing school in Peoria, Illinois. So he was in South Bend in the area, she was in Peoria, Illinois. And they kind of made plans to basically meet up in the US together.
Tony Kornheiser
So let me understand something. He came over here on a boat, and if you're going from west to east, you're going to land on the west coast. Where did he land on the boat?
Jeff Ma
In Seattle. And then he took a bus from Seattle to South Bend.
Tony Kornheiser
Did he speak any English at that time?
Jeff Ma
My guess is he spoke a little bit. But, you know, my dad always had a little bit of an accent. As a professor in chemical engineering, he used to teach a class in heat transfer. And the first thing that he would write on the chalkboard was flux equals frux.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, so he pronounced L's as R's.
Jeff Ma
Much like Bob Cousy, self deprecating and also just getting people the right frame of mind. But yeah, no, he. When he came there, he always tells me that he was so nervous about that trip that he didn't eat anything. The only thing he ordered was two hot dogs and he was too nervous to order them because he only. He knew he only had $5 to his name at that time. So, you know, it's an inspirational story.
Tony Kornheiser
Why did he go to Notre Dame? What was about? What was it?
Jeff Ma
I think that was probably the place that offered him an opportunity.
Jason Locanfora
Right.
Jeff Ma
I don't think he had a lot of, you know, maybe did not have a lot of opportunities. And that was the one that offered him the opportunity. From there ended up going to mit, and he probably just did not know a ton about schools in the U.S. it wasn't like there was the Internet to do research. Like he just was figuring out again, like I asked him, why were you a chemical engineer? He goes, oh, one of my brother's friends was a chemical engineer. And it sounded interesting.
Tony Kornheiser
So he was an academic his whole life.
Jeff Ma
Yes.
Tony Kornheiser
And he sent his children to mit, which is a tremendous accomplishment.
Jeff Ma
Yes.
Tony Kornheiser
And now you bet on football games. I mean, did he ever say to you, jeff, you're killing me?
Jeff Ma
I always joke that I went to MIT and got a mechanical engineering degree that I've never used in my life. So that. That tells you a little bit about that. That piece of it.
Tony Kornheiser
He must have been very proud of you, though. He must have been, yeah.
Jeff Ma
I mean, when I wrote my own book and the movie, all the movie stuff happened, he was. He was. He would tell people about it, and every once in a while he would call me and ask me if I could send a signed book to someone or I could go meet with someone to talk to them about what I'm doing and things like that. So, yeah, I think he was proud.
Tony Kornheiser
Was he a sports guy?
Jeff Ma
You know, I think he was a sports guy because I was. Yeah, my oldest sister was the one that probably gave me the biggest love of sports. But, you know, he. There was a moment in time where I was a big Joe Montana fan, and that came from his love of Notre Dame football. I think there was some formative thing. I think of all the things that he was. He was probably a Notre Dame football fan. I mean, he took me to my first baseball game at Fenway park, and we sat in the bleachers next to the Monster, and Jim Rice, who was my favorite player at that time, hit a home run that landed two rows in front of us. And, you know, he followed things with me, but I would definitely not say he was the same level of sports fan than I am.
Tony Kornheiser
It's nice to hear all these things, though. It obvious your love from him is for him is obvious. So we'll get to what we do here. And now I feel terrible because you were 2 and 3 last week. You're 46, 52 and 1, and you got to get back up to.500. You got to do it.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, yeah, we got to do it. We got to do it. This. This week we had a guy by the name of Judah Forten gang on vet the process that comes out. They'll come out later today. And he just is really great at analyzing a lot of these matchups. And so we're going to talk through a few games that we talked on the. On the. On the show. On one is the Chargers minus the two and a half over the Texans. Everyone really loves this Texans defense. It's sort of the key, but it's built on the idea of, you know, allowing you to take some deep shots, and if you can't convert those, you're going to end up with a lot of three and Outskirts. And that's one thing Herbert can do well is get this ball deep. And on the Texans of the offensive side have really been struggling and this has been a bad year for C.J. stroud. I'm going to take the Chargers minus a two and a half.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Jeff Ma
I'm actually going to take the Steelers plus the 10 over the Ravens. And for most people, this is again a similar situation about matchups. The Ravens defense has gotten much better and was one of the top defenses now when they went to sort of a single high safety which allows Russell Wilson to do the thing that he does well, which is actually get the ball deep. Similar situation where there's a lot of variance in this game. I think if you really wanted to bet this game, you'd bet the Steelers money line, which is almost like 5 to 1. But I'm going to take plus the 10 over the Ravens.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Jeff Ma
I'm going to take the Eagles under the 45 and a half. Here you have a situation where there's probably a lot of running. I think you have probably two quarterbacks that are less than 100% and so there will be a focus on keeping the ball on the run. And both of these defenses are pretty solid. So I think that this game will be a low scoring game.
Tony Kornheiser
You're taking the under. Taking the under. Carville only takes the over. Only takes over. Carville made a bet last week with us. You probably know this. Carville bet 11 and a half the over in the first half. First half? Yeah, he. He bet that that Baltimore would be up by more than 11 and a half. In the first half. Yeah, and they were up by 11. So he loses. And I thought to myself, well, why don't you take it for the whole game? Why would you take it for the half? But I never asked him that. I never did. All right, what else?
Jeff Ma
I'm going to take the Bucks minus the three over the commies.
Jason Locanfora
I think.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, it's. We've talked about Jaden Daniels and his scrambling and that situation, but this is. The Bucks are just going to be able to move the ball. I think it will against that defense. And I do think that, you know, with Vita Vee back, this is just a situation where the Bucks are going to be able to get more stops than the commies. And I like that there. And then I think an interesting one will be the Rams. I think if you're going to bet this game, you should wait because there's a chance it may get moved.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, it will be. I think we all Sort of think it will be moved. I think out of respect.
Jeff Ma
You.
Tony Kornheiser
I think you have to move it. Yeah.
Jeff Ma
Yeah. So I think, I think the line probably goes up a little bit, but I will take the Rams. I think it's plus one in most places and probably will go up a little bit. Just a good matchup for the Rams here. I mean, I think we saw what happens when Darnold plays in what we would call a negative game state, meaning, you know, he gets down and there gets to be more pressure on him. I think the Rams will be able to put some pressure on him. And I think the Rams, their value is sort of depending. Pressed because their, their offense has looked kind of bad lately. And part of it is that they've gone more to the run. I think in this game they'll go more to early, early passing and their offense will look a lot better again. And I'll take the Rams.
Tony Kornheiser
Maybe you can explain something to me. I'm just going to stay on this game for a second. Minnesota's 14 and 3. They were 14 and 2 before they lost at Detroit. And yeah, Darnold had a bad game. The Rams, they're okay. I don't think you can go any further than the Rams are okay. I am surprised at the number here. I thought it would be higher. I thought it'd be at least three for Minnesota.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, I mean, I think a lot of it is definitely being influenced by what people saw last Sunday.
Tony Kornheiser
Where. What about the first 16 weeks? You know what I mean?
Jeff Ma
What about the first five years of Darnold's career? Okay.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay.
Jeff Ma
A lot of evidence that he may not be a very good quarter quarterback and has been able to play from some positive game states. Meaning he doesn't see a lot of pressure or, you know, the idea of a quarterback not being good is, is, you know, like, how do you. How do you put him in a position to succeed? And certainly O'Donnell has done that this year. But, but, you know, this, this is a situation where it's, it's, you know, O'Connell. Sorry, this is a situation where I do think he may get in some negative state game states. And I do think the Rams are going to put, you know, there's enough there now that I think that they know that if they get some pressure on him that he could make some mistakes.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay. Going to another game.
Jeff Ma
Yeah, I'm going to do the Bills minus the nine over the Broncos. I just think again, you know, that the Broncos are sort of predicated on this good defense in this and you know, Josh Allen has the ability to just basically mitigate these by his, you know, single handed sort of scrambling and whatnot. And so a situation where your strength is your defense against a Josh Allen is a place where I will pick Allen over that defense.
Nigel
I can actually give that to you at 8. Would you like that?
Jeff Ma
Yeah, I'll take that at 8.
Tony Kornheiser
Okay, that's good.
Jeff Ma
You never have to ask me if I want and I say yes, that's a better number.
Nigel
That's my English manners.
Tony Kornheiser
Thank you, Jeff. Thank you and thank you for the reminiscences. Thank you and thank you for letting.
Jeff Ma
Me tell the story, Tony.
Tony Kornheiser
Happy to do it, Jeff Ma. Boys and girls, let me do this week's picks with James Carville and Jeff Mobb and brought to you by FanDuel Sportsbook. Make every moment more and we will have email and jingle when we return. I am Tony Kornheiser.
James Carville
You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show.
Jason Locanfora
The Tony Kornheiser.
Tony Kornheiser
Kelly Vicstrom Hoyt on the squeeze box. Wonderful. You want to do the Bethesda bagel ad for us?
Nigel
Yes, Bethesda bagels, we love them. You will as well just go to BethesdaBaggles.com food, a location in the D.C. area nearest you. Then pop it in, my friend, and you will be thrilled.
Tony Kornheiser
And before we get to the mailbag, let me just say don't want your love anymore don't want your kisses that's for sure. I die each time I hear this sound. Here he comes. That's Kathy's clown. Those are the Everly Brothers. That's one of the greatest vocal duos of all time. Absolutely. Just a great, great song. Thanks to our guests today, Jason Lochinfour, James Carville and Jeff Ma. Thanks as well to today's sponsors. Remember, you can listen to us on Apple podcasts Spotify and Odyssey. Get show through Apple. Please leave us a review from Timothy Cree. I'm surprised Chuck Todd wants a CFL to join the NFL because he's an Edmonton Eskimos fan. Especially since they're no longer the Eskimos and are now known as the Elks. I didn't know that.
Nigel
I was unaware of that as well.
Tony Kornheiser
It's not as good. Yeah, it's probably. There's probably reasons that why Washington changed its name. That's my guess that Eskimos, you can't do that anymore. But I didn't know that Paul Gehringer in College Park. Although I was taught to respect my elders and I'M sure many funnier, inspired smarter than me emailed in already. But to paraphrase another older ESPN personality, not so fast, my friend. The orange one gave Jim Harbaugh a Super bowl win that his brother won. The only coaches to win both are only three in order. Jimmy Barry and Pete Carroll. That's right. Jim might get one this year, but so far is over in the Super Bowl. Yes. My mistake. Absolutely. He got to the Super Bowl. Yeah.
Nigel
In San Francisco, right?
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. He lost to his brother.
Nigel
Yeah, that's right.
Tony Kornheiser
Lost to his brother.
Michael Wilbon
Lights go out.
Tony Kornheiser
That's right. Chuck Freebe in South Bend, Indiana, where people are happy. Today on Monday's Mailbag, you had another email from the widely respected Terry Tahara, whose hometown you gave the German pronunciation of Bremen, Indiana. Because we're from Indiana and don't really believe in pronouncing anything as originally created. It's Bremen, Indiana. We have La Fontaine, Indiana, and pronounce it La Fountain. Why? Don't ask me. But you could ask the great Doc Emmerich, who grew up in a fountain and then called goals by Pat LaFontaine. Who knew, more importantly, Martin's Supermarket, which we actually call Martin's, has Progresso soups. Four for $4. Wow.
Michael Wilbon
Stock up.
Tony Kornheiser
I've attached a photo of the ad for proof and for the delight of The News Channel 8 viewer, how many should I buy for you? As I recall, that's much cheaper than even the refugee Safeway. Should you get the Progresso, you could eat it, just as Bennett Wise and George Melaye should, without the you gotta.
Michael Wilbon
Splurge and get the split pea.
Tony Kornheiser
Oh, yeah. Four for $4.
Nigel
Wow.
Tony Kornheiser
Wow.
Nigel
I should say right now, please do not send us soup.
Tony Kornheiser
Don't. Don't send us soup in the mail. Terry Ganz, San Carlos, California ex of Longboat Key, Florida. Surely an obvious concern shared by others over Peter Yarrow's appearance at the Kornheiser house years ago. Why was the door unlocked? An early over reliance on Simplisafe for a hearing challenged dog. That isn't Elijah walking in that door. From Gary Van Giesen. Did Peter bring his own guitar and snacks? Maybe he was looking to watch CBS in the guest room. Guessing this occurred before the Simply Safe days. Jeff Moore, Southport, North Carolina. The only question is Ginger and Marianne. That's it. That's the email? Yeah.
Nigel
That's more generation.
Tony Kornheiser
More in my generation, yeah. Brian Poole in Bothell, Washington. I've been keeping the woman I'm related to by marriage. Update on your OC talk over the last few weeks and she is now forcing me to send in a correction for Michael to ask if you are Team Marissa or Team Summer is nonsense. They were best friends. A real question is Team Summer or Team Anna? They were the ones both competing for Seth. That's later in the show.
Michael Wilbon
Yes, that's later in the show.
Tony Kornheiser
Yes.
Michael Wilbon
We're introducing you to Season one Vs. Anna. I would say more Team Summer at that point.
Tony Kornheiser
David Epstein in New York at the risk of being a cranky older man, but hey, look who I'm writing to. And as the official etymologist at Tony corners of the show, I declare there was and always will be only one OC on television and that's the Odd Couple. Check it out kids. Also in reference to the stork, now you use the initialism LMK in place of Let me know. Can I just point out that while in writing, that allows the author to use one third of the letters needed get their point across. And it's certainly easier to text than the full Let me know. LMK contains precisely the name number, same number of syllables as Let me know and thus serves no utility to the speaker other than to confuse one or more generations. Hocus pocus junk from Barrett Dummer or Dumber. D U M M E R can't be dumber. It would never be. It's got to be Dummer.
Nigel
Maybe Dume.
Tony Kornheiser
Well yeah, because you couldn't go around saying my name is dumb. No, you changed that Dumb and couldn't do it in Madison, Wisconsin. I grew up and he's so sick of hearing this because everybody says this, I'm sure, and I apologize. Yeah, I grew up with pti. I've been listening to your podcast for a few years now. Each episode makes me laugh and learn something. I'm grateful to you and your crew for all the entertainment. I always enjoy the mailbag, but I've never felt the urge to send a message myself until last night. Monday evening I was lying in bed with a woman I'm recently related to by marriage. Your invite must have been lost in the mail. I asked if we had any plans this week, to which she replied we did not. This made me very happy. I told her I wanted to take my dad to the Milwaukee Bucks game Wednesday night. She said that sounded great. Two minutes later, as I was dozing off and my wife was still reading, something dawned on me. A few days prior, my mother had invited us to a dinner on Wednesday night at my parents home with my brother and his family. I told my wife I couldn't take my dad to the game on Wednesday because I knew he was busy. And also I'd forgotten to tell her about our invite to the family dinner on Wednesday. My wife oh well, can you find a different game to go to? Me? I was really looking forward to seeing this kid. My wife who? Me. Wembanyama. My wife Victor Wembanyama. Victor Wembanyama. Victor Wembanyama. I started laughing. My wife who does he play for? Thank you Dan Byrne. And thank you Tony. That is great. That's really good. Ricky DeseDLO, East Winthrop, Maine Things you can do in three minutes See Usain Bolt run the 100 meters 18 times. Soft boil an egg, listen to the Beatles sing Yesterday or watch Patrick Cantlay hit one golf shot. Please tell Andy Dion to eat it. Yeah, he's slow.
Nigel
That's fairly accurate, right?

Kevin Korn, vacationing in Maui from Seattle, Washington never got a response back from Jeff Ma for some free tickets to the Century tournament, likely because it was free to get in. Go figure. While you in the mid Atlantic were experiencing 8 to 10 inches of snow, I was snorkeling, seeing about 8 to 10 different species of fish and about 8 to 10 humpback whales. Truly a sight to behold if you ever considered moving to Maui. The time zone is perfect for you, five hours behind the east coast so when you wake up at 4am you can catch the London games. And you could actually watch as much of the games live as Wilbond does because they'll finish before you go to bed. Also, I haven't seen a single moth in Maui, so your wool sweaters are safe here. But why would I need a wool sweater? As he asked after moving there?
Nigel
Not that many occasions.

Mike in Fairfax in college we had a friend with a great head of hair. Fast forward to his early 30s and started the thin he decided to have a procedure to fix it. A couple of months before the procedure, he grew out a goatee. He then shaved the goatee the morning he returned to the office. After the procedure, everyone commented on the goatee. No one noticed the suddenly thicker hair. So if you ever want to re sod your head, just shave the beard before going on TV and no one will notice. Good plans. Kevin King, Durham Shout out to the Montana State Bobcats for making the FCS championship game but falling just short of the dynasty that is North Dakota State Bison. It's a joy to watch them go undefeated until that game and really have a powerhouse of a team this year. Had the honor of being the game clock operator at Bobcat Stadium for two years during grad school. Great school, great fans. Go Cats. Steve the sick of what, you ask has the Hallmark Channel been doing since Christmas? In case your darling wife hasn't briefed you, let me advise. Upcoming are such gems as My Norwegian Holiday, where a grieving woman forges a deep connection with a Norwegian man when he discovers she has a troll figurine from his hometown. Then the More Love Grows in which Helen gets blindsided when her husband asks for a separation. With help from a friendly vet and a rambunctious stray dog, she rediscovers her strength and begins to rebuild her life. And there's Roadhouse Romance, in which Lieutenant Kelly Jackson returns home after a military tour to find our late grandfather's barbecue. Bit is struggling, but she has a run in with a TV director who teaches her that sometimes it's best to look forward instead of looking back. You're getting love and happiness for hours and hours, dear Toby, and I hope you can withstand it. Got the brisket from Charlie Burtz in Springfield, Virginia. This Sunday, the Katherine Johnson Middle School Band, also known as the Official Middle School Band of Tony Cornhorse show, will once again play the national anthem at the Washington Wizards game. Wouldn't it be amazing to shock the crowd with the stunning PA declaration? And here to guests conduct the band star of Pardon the Interruption and The Americans is TV's Tony Corners. I'm not doing that. The cascade of cheers would rival anything the team has enjoyed since the late 70s, though the matchup with OKC will surely go down to the wire. Sure, with a 6pm start, you can enjoy the Shay Gilgis Alexander Alex Saw rivalry back at home in your jammies by 6:30. Give the people what they want. From Dina Near. What do I miss most about leaving Damascus? Having the Capital Weather gang covering my area?

Yeah, because they're really, they're the best.

Wayne Mossman, chuck and roxy, number 311. Did I hear that right? The monkeys 25 and 25. For those of my vintage or older, all I heard was in the year 2525. If man is still alive. If women can, woman can survive. Mike Roseberry, State College, Pennsylvania they're not happy today. State College. Whenever Mr. Tony talks about guarding his house at night during storms, I generally question what he'd be able to protect it from. During the run of the show, he's been defeated by tomato eating varmints, technology moths, Ragu Narracetti, Cassius, parking kiosks and the patrons of casual dining establishments. It's not a good track record. If the cornice of compound was assaulted by Girl Scout Troop 451, I'd put my money on the young ladies. Mason White, David Aldrich Moment. I was reading an article from your godson's website about the Nanders and who do I see quoted but our very own Kip Sheeman. I wasn't certain it was really him since his appearance was not advertised like a NASCAR race. Quote Snyder just sucked the life out of it for everybody. This quote brought to you by Granger for the ones that get it done. Nor did he give a weather update, which, considering as I write this, the schools that your indentured servants went to seem to be out still out for snow was unfortunate. But still, please don't read my name on the air. Well, it's too late for that. And please tell Eric Wagner to Anthony Garcia on Monday's pod. I'm listening when all of a sudden I hear you introduce the lead in music for Chuck Culpepper being played by the Uninvited. Immediately I stopped and said aloud to no one in my vicinity, the Uninvited. I know that band. I booked that band as a civic auction commissioner for the city of Pleasant Hill, California. Our volunteer group of residents puts on several community events, including our city's wonderful summer concert series at City Hall. This past summer we booked the Uninvited for one of these concerts and they were hit. So much so that I'm proud to announce that we have reinvited the Uninvited back for our 25th anniversary summer concert season. They'll be playing by the lake at Pleasant Hill City hall on July 20th. We've been proud to showcase local Bay Area yeah, that Bay area. But more specifically the East Bay musical artists at these free Sunday concerts from Memorial Day to Labor Day for 25 years. Isn't that nice?
Nigel
That's lovely.
Tony Kornheiser
That's nice. Mike Limerick in Indianapolis, I'm reading a plot summary of the new movie Better man to my Wife. In the movie, the story of British pop star Robbie Williams is portrayed through the perspective of a CGI chimpanzee. My wife's only question was, what does Reginald think? Tom Opelt in Colorado Springs I bought a couple of new rugs from Costco, a medium sized area rug to go by the front door and a smaller runner for the back door. They were on sale and claimed to be machine washable. It seems our dog Apollo wanted to test that washability because that night he threw up on both of them. Just thought you'd like to know.
Michael Wilbon
Like to know what else you got at Costco. That they never go out.
Nigel
Just what you wanted right now. There's always the random purchase. Yeah.
Tony Kornheiser
Rob Kruje in Lewis and in Gaithersburg are the. He's in the Midway Outlets in Rehoboth, across from the movie theater. Always on sale. Go for it. Nice.
Nigel
Oh, the sketches, right? Oh, yeah, yeah. The shoes sketches.
Tony Kornheiser
Yeah. But I'm waiting for Howie Long to send me shoes, as the people around him said he would, and they took my address.
Nigel
Yeah, well, but you could also go to the Candy Kitchen, which is right there. Maybe some of the go karts.
Tony Kornheiser
It's cold. You're out on your bike. Tight. Everyone is. Always do. Wear white.
Jason Locanfora
How much weight do you think I could bench press? Just make a guess. Ballpark figure.
James Carville
I want my head underwater and I'm dumb I'm not like my father I get so high Then I fall in the valley where was my mind? But I was lost since you found me But I was lost since you found me she found me down in the valley down in the valley I was lost and she found me she found me down in the valley down in the valley down in the valley Down.
