Hello, guys. Welcome back to the Treatment Room podcast. I'm your host, Tessa Zolli. I am so excited for today's episode. I know we talk so much about skin, we talk about business, but I think we could all use a little energy makeover, especially going from skin summer into fall. I feel like it's such a good time to reset and just step into our best energy possible. So I am bringing in the expert. She is incredible. Such a beautiful person. I'm so excited to share her more with you. She is an intuitive coach. Erica Riley, welcome to the Treatment Room podcast.
A
Thank you so much. Thanks for having me.
B
You're so welcome. So just a little backstory for our listeners. Erica and I have known each other a long time. We met in college. And it's funny, Erica, because I feel like you and I were the shyer girls of the sorority.
A
Would you agree we were, like, under the radar?
B
Yes, very, like, undetectable. But, you know, we've come so far since then. Look at us on a podcast now. To be fair, our sorority was pretty outspoken. So I do know you were a comm major, right?
A
Yeah.
B
How did you go from, you know, that. That path to what you're doing now?
A
Yeah, it's been a journey for sure. It's funny because originally I wanted to go to fashion school. School. Like, I watched the Hills, obviously. And I really wanted to go to fidm. And my parents were like, you need to go to a regular school before that. And so I went to Chapman, and I picked communication because it was something that I was, like, terrified of. Like, I hated speaking. Like, it was something I was good at, but I hated doing it. And so I'm like, this will actually help me. I'm gonna have to talk in whatever job I have. And then I ended up going to fidm, and I lived in la, and it was just not a fit for me. I worked at LF I was in fashion, I was styling. And so I was in, like, a totally different world. And then ended up. I got a marketing degree from FIDM and ended up working in the food industry, which was another hard left, and worked in marketing for a better for you brand. And I worked there for a good, like, almost eight years, which, in millennial, that's like 30. I feel like millennials don't stay for long at jobs, but I stayed there for a really long time. And it was on purpose, for sure, because I. That job, like, made me so burnt out and sick towards the end where, like, I was just so unwell that it really ended up putting me on my path because I felt so bad, and, like, I just did not feel okay. So I got into wellness very similarly to you, where it's like you're kind of your own first client, where you're like, okay, I have to, like, work on myself, and, like, I have to figure out what's going on. So I just started doing, like, energy work. I was doing acupuncture. Like, I wasn't doing acupuncture, but, like, getting acupuncture done on me. And I was trying all these different things to try to serve, like, to try to settle my nervous system. But I had really bad anxiety, and it really flared up in 2020. Towards the end of 2020 was when it got, like, super bad. So that's honestly kind of like, how I got on this path was, like, working a, like, crazy, chaotic job, and it wasn't a fit. And I think that a lot of times when, you know, our purpose, it, like, we have to be pushed. It's like the universe, like, has to, like, put a lot of resistance, otherwise we'll just chill and stay. So I totally get it now, and I'm very grateful for that job. And there were things that I learned from that that you, you know, I'm using today, so it kind of all makes sense when you look back.
B
Yes. It's so funny. We have so many common threads, and I think a lot of the listeners will relate to your story because so many of us join, you know, aesthetics as a second career. And I feel like for millennials, that is so common, because I don't know if you felt this way, Erica, but I. I feel like there was a lot of pressure Just in our era of growing up and going to college and resumes were like, such a huge deal and LinkedIn. And I think a lot of us felt this pressure to go a. A certain route, a corporate route, the college route. But it's funny, like, is that route sustainable or the best for everyone? Because I went through the same thing of like, saving sickness and illness, of just, like, my body rejecting all of that. And yeah, just saying, like, no, you're meant for something else that's more aligned for you.
A
Absolutely. I think, you know, your body, your body talks, like. And a lot of times we don't listen to it. And so it gets louder and louder until it's, like, screaming at us. And then it's like, okay, I have to actually address this thing. And then it's like, oh, yeah, I'm actually not happy with how I'm living my life, or I really want to pursue this thing. And this is the thing that I'm passionate about and makes me happy. And I think for me, it's really about service and helping other people and helping other people be the best versions of themselves.
B
Can you tell us more about what does that entail? Like, what does it look like when you're working with a client on transforming their energy?
A
Energy, yeah. So I did start out when I was living in San Diego, which is where I'm from, born and raised. I was working in energy work, and that was solely, like, the modality that I was using. And then towards the 2022, I got a breathwork certification, and that was life changing for me. And I think, you know, you using the energy piece is so powerful, but if you don't feel safe and grounded in your body, it's like you're still kind of floaty. So the breath work really, like, grounded me, and I started doing breath work every single day. And I, by, like, I would say, like, a month into the certification that I was in, I was like, I have to move. And I'm like, okay. Like, and so I. By the end of the certification, which was three months, like, I was already living in a different state in so many different ways, but physically, I was living in Tennessee. And so I say all that because it's so important to have that, like, holistic approach where you're utilizing the energy piece, but you're also utilizing the body and, like, bringing it into the physical realm as well. And so when I work with a client first, we kind of start off by seeing. Seeing where they're at and seeing where, like, if they're super in fight or flight mode, and they can't sit still, or they're just, like, kind of all over the place. I call it like, the Chaos Queen. And I used to be one, so I know all about it, but kind of running around. And the Chaos Queen can also be, like, trying to, like, be the biggest people pleaser and wanting to, like, make everyone else happy. I was a Chaos Queen in that sense, too. Too. Or I was just, like, doing the most for everybody else. And so if they're in that kind of space, we have to ground that. And so I typically start with somatic work, body work, where, like, that can be everything from, like, tapping to just vocal, vocal work, different somatic work that I do. And then the breath work as well. Really helps to. To kind of clear things out and allow the nervous system to relax. And then we're able to go deeper into subconscious reprogramming, mindset, rewiring work, and then the energy healing piece too. It's kind of like, I see it as, like, the cherry on top. That really helps to just, like, amplify that, where that client is looking to go, where their vision is.
B
I absolutely love that. I'm sure a lot of estheticians and people in general, but especially estheticians, could benefit from this, because I feel like one of the biggest things in the treatment room. Of course, the technical skills are important. Your knowledge is important, but it is literally an energy transfer. When your client, you know, comes in the room, you close the door, like, your hands are on them. And I think it's something we should talk about more, because if you don't take a second to recenter or get in the right frame of mind or you don't have, you know, the knowledge of. Of how to do that, it is so easy to just breeze through your day transferring not the best energy.
A
Yeah.
B
So could you talk to the esthetician who's maybe realizing, like, oh, I'm a little bit chaotic. Are there any tips or short activations, like, anything they could do?
A
Yeah. And I feel like a lot of times people that are in the service industry and they're helping other people, a lot of times they are more empathic, where, like, a hair stylist or just someone that's, like, you're listening and you're there for the person. I typically, if I'm getting a facial, I'm not speaking. I'm, like, fully relaxed in my zone. But some people do like to talk, and it is just to, like, be in that person's field and have Their, your hands on them. It, you know, it is an energy transfer. And so it is so important to be conscious of that. And not just, you know, overbook. I mean for yourself to not overbook, but like when you're overbooked and you just like are churning out clients, you're not taking that time to like clear the space energetically and also to just like clear your own field because you have been working in someone else's field. And something that I always tell people, especially even like traveling, like you're in close quarters and same thing when you're in a treatment room, you're in very close quarters with people and you know, you don't know what they're, where they're at, what they're going through, what's going on in their world. And so something that I always say is intention is everything. And it doesn't need to be this like huge thing where you're like, okay, I need, I need sage, I need Palo Santo, I need to like swing around five times. Like, you don't need all of that. It's really the intention. And for me I say like, what's mine is mine, what's yours is yours. Like, and obviously you don't say that to the person, but like, you just say it before you have a client come through. And it just kind of sets the tone and like sets the container so that it's like your energy is your energy and it brings up a shield. And some people that are more visual, I would say like you can picture yourself like stepping into a bubble before your client comes in and that gives you kind of that protection as well. But it really all boils down to just intention. And if you have a client that maybe is going through something a little bit more heavy and their energy just feels a bit dense, I always like to just like take that energy that might be lingering and you can just send it, send it up to like have the intention to send it up to God, send it up to source the universe. Like you just ask. And I, I think that it's such a foreign thing to. And maybe it's like a bit woo woo for some people, but it's really like we have all these angels and guides and past loved ones and so much support surrounding us. There's so many spirits and they all are like so eager to help us. And it's I think, a topic that doesn't get talked about. But you can ask. Like I've done this before where like I'm trying to find like a contact for I don't know, like, a new hair stylist or something. And then I can ask, like, for help and be like, like, universe, can you, like, show me? Da, da, da. And then my friend, I go to dinner, and then she's talking about her hair stylist. You know, it's like those kinds of things where it's like, we just need to ask and, like, have that intention. And I think that that is super helpful, especially when there are those, you know, client sessions where there. It's a little bit more dense. I would suggest doing that.
B
I love this visual of the bubble that you're giving us. I feel like that is such a great. A great point on the other end. Yes. We're putting out energy, and then SDS also receive so much energy. And, you know, without that reference, like, I'm. I'm remembering times I was in the treatment room, and days I was just depleted by the end of the day. Because you're giving a very physical service. There's so much involved and so much physical energy you need. And then for a lot of clients, it is a time, like, they want to share, they want to let things out, and we want to be that for our clients. There's always this joke that SDs are, you know, a million things. We're marketers, we're estheticians, we're therapists. But. But seriously, we are collecting a lot of energy. So I love that, you know, form of protection. It seems like it almost neutralizes things so you can be there for them but not get overburdened because you have to show up to work and do this almost every single day, you know?
A
Yeah, absolutely. I think for me, I'm super visual. And so having that, like, lock into place or, like, you can see it almost in your mind's eye, like, that is super, super helpful. And I use that, too, when I'm traveling, and I'm like, okay. Like, I don't want to, like, be absorbing all the energy on this plane. Like, let me bubble up before I strap in.
B
Totally. And you, you know, seem so grounded, Erica, and just so confident. I imagine you don't get into, you know, this job and hearing you say, like, you love helping people. Was there any experience that you can share or, like, personal transformation that really led you here? Because this is, you know, a deep thing to help people transform in this way. What did you go through?
A
Yeah, I always say, like, no one gets in this work by accident. It's like, there's always something that shifts and some kind of awakening. Of sorts. But for me, I became so obsessed with working on myself. When I was in my, like, the throes of my anxiety, I just wanted to get better so bad. And I was like, I always joke, like, I was like Matilda with the wagon with all the books, like, the self help books. Just, like, reading so many books, doing all the things. And once I started feeling better, it was interesting because I was in this chaotic job and ended up, like, having to do a trade show in New York. That, like, wasn't my job, it was someone else's. And I was, like, in charge of it. My boss got fired. The person that was in charge of the show was put on leave. There were only three of us in marketing, so I was like, the last one, and I was, like, in charge of everything. It was crazy. This was 2022. And I remember being in New York and my CEO was like, you're so calm. Like, you have, like, quite the pickle that you're in, and you're, like, so calm. And then it was one of those moments where I was like, oh, like, this is working. Like, the work I'm doing is really working. And it made me just want to explore it even more and even more. But I think for me, a lot of why I'm so passionate about this work is just because of how I grew up. And I was, you know, the eldest daughter, always, like, striving to be the best, wanting to, like, please everybody else, bring home the wins. And kind of like what you were saying earlier, just about, you know, we're. When we're in college and it's like the resume, like, you want to make sure you have all the things to impress everybody else. And it's a lot of pressure. And I put so much pressure on myself growing, growing up. And it was when I stepped away from my corporate job that I realized how much I was looking outside myself for validation because I didn't have it anymore. And, you know, when you're an esthetician and your own, Your own. You are your own boss, you're your CEO. You're all the things. No one is being like, that a girl, good job. Like, it's you. And I think that there's an initiation that comes with that. When you really step into your purpose and your business that you're like, oh, okay, like, it's me and me here. Like, I have to be sourcing, self sourcing. Otherwise, like, I'm not getting fed, you know? So I think that there's a lot of, like, inner child part of it too, that really inspired me. But I would say the biggest thing was just, like, the anxiety that I had. And I. It was like the end of 2020 where I had. I actually went to Tulum and I had this panic attack in Tulum with, like, all my friends. And I don't know, I feel like the energy there is just so, like, intense that when I came back, I was, like, not the same person. And I just dove even more into learning more, getting more certifications, and I just, like, wanted to do more. And so I feel like that was kind of this moment where it was a big pivot for me where I was, like, choosing me more, choosing me more. And over time, it was just like I kept doing that more and more. And that's why I feel so passionate about helping other people to choose themselves, because my life has changed and shifted so, so much. And I'm just like, I've was never told that I was, like, grounded and, like, calm before. Like, I was always an anxious girly.
B
Let's take a quick break. I want to tell you about today's sponsor, who is super relevant to any estheticians out there that want to make their business more modern, more convenient and easy to access for your customer and really take your retail to the next level while reducing your overhead costs. So I have been partnered with Pomp Beauty since the very early days in my business. And although I didn't know it at the time, partnering with Pomp was one of the best decisions I ever made in business. It was a total game changer for me. It gave me access to such a wider selection of curated professional products that I wouldn't be able to retail to my clients without the hassle of holding inventory. And if you feel like, you know, I think my business could be more profitable. I'm working so hard, but I'm just not seeing that profit. A big part of that for estheticians is often overstocking retail. And we think by just having more and stocking more and taking on more burden, we are going to be providing a better experience for your client. And that's really not the case. A lot of people get overwhelmed when they walk into a spa and they just see rows and rows and rows of inventory. It's overwhelming. It starts to collect dust. And if you are needing to stock on of that inventory and not seeing a profit until you make a physical sale, you are not optimizing your business. Pomp has streamlined my retail process and elevated the experience and the care I provide. Trust me, your clients appreciate Having an easy way to access the products that you recommend to them online. And, and it is a benefit to them when they can shop in one place for all of these incredible lines, but also feel like they're never getting bored with your retail selection because Pomp is always bringing on the best of the best. I'm talking Jan Marini, Hydrinity, Color Science, Glymed, Face Reality. All of the incredible brands that we SDS talk and rave about, but without needing to stock inventory yourself. I cannot recommend Pomp enough. And it is so easy to get started. Don't be intimidated. You just go to pompbeauty.com, create your account, import your clients, and you can start recommending skincare and then earning 30% commission on your sales. I worked with the Pomp team and we have a exclusive offer for you. They've never done anything this cheap, generous. They're giving away a $75 product credit after you create your account that you can use towards any products you have been wanting to try. You can use the link in the show notes or just type the treatment room in where you heard about Pomp, they will add the credit directly to your account and there's no reason not to check it out. And I can say I vouch for Pomp personally and cannot imagine when what my business would look like without them. Now let's get back to the episode. Where do you think, you know, anxiety comes from? Or like, for you, in that moment in Tulum when you're feeling super panicked, where do you think that comes from?
A
I mean, honestly, I think I was. I've always been very anxious, even as a kid. Like, I was always super, super sensitive. And like, I was known as like the kid that cried like the first day of kindergarten. Like, I was always very, very sensitive. And now I get it. I'm like, this is quite literally, like my life and like, my purpose. Yeah, it's my gift. But it's funny because I grew up in a family that was not sensitive. And I think that happens a lot. I think we choose our parents and. And I chose mine and because I'm so sensitive, it kind of helps open their world a bit. But yeah, I think for me, like, I was always kind of anxious and always anticipating what other people were going to want or need. And that made me so good at my job in corporate because I was always like 10 steps ahead of people and. But I was always on edge. Like, I was never like, relaxed and like, in my body, I was always kind of on edge and always wanting to, like, hustle and be busy because. Yeah, I felt like if I. Okay, if I'm busy, then I don't have to think about that. I'm anxious.
B
Yeah. I mean, there's so much emphasis these days on being productive 24 7. But it's really no way to live, like, going through. Through life with that constant, you know, anxiety. And I'm. I'm sure for you it's not like that just, like, vanishes. But what's the difference now with, like, how you live now with the tools you have?
A
Yeah, I think for me, it's just the awareness, like, I can feel when I start to get anxious. And I also just want to say that, like, I lived my, like, whole existence in the masculine, and I grew up in a family that was super masculine. Even, like, the industry that my family worked in was on naval ships, and my grandpa was in the Navy for years, and everything was very rigid and very regimented. And my dad's a Virgo, and he's. He's very rigid and, like, very regimented. And so I, too, kind of took that on because it's like this, all right, here's how we are. And so I was super masculine in that sense, where I was always like, okay, what needs to be done? What needs to be? Like, what do I need to achieve? And. And I shifted so much, especially in the last, like, I would say, like, two and a half years, where I really tapped into the feminine energetics of it. And we have both, but a lot of us are out of whack, where we're, like, heavy, heavy, heavy in the masculine, and I had to be in the masculine for the job that I had, and I was super out of balance. And then when I moved to Tennessee, which is just, like, it's a slower pace of life than when I was living downtown in San Diego. And I feel like I was called here for a reason. I had no idea why everyone thought it was, like, bananas, that I was just, like, moving on a whim, quote, unquote. But I had been thinking about it for a while. But I do feel like living here has definitely helped me to kind of slow down and really introduced feminine energetics to me in the last year. I was working with a new mentor, and she is all about embracing the feminine and the power and the magic of the feminine. And it's something that is so foreign to us because, like you said, we're so used to the hustle, the grind, and all of that enforcing, and when we are able to really trust and Relax. And, like, when we feel like we're about to have an anxiety attack or, you know, we're. We have a lot on our plate, or we're feeling like we're gonna be burnt out or feeling really exhausted, like, taking rest, which, literally, the alarm bells go off because it's like, what.
B
We're resting.
A
Like, this is not allowed. And so for me, it's been, like, discovering that. And it's something that I'm so passionate about because my whole life shifted so much. Like, even my face, like, my, like, my whole body changed from allowing myself to really relax and slow down. And, you know, I think, like, my cortisol levels were super high before. And so it's about having both because we do need to take action. You know, it's. We're not sitting on, like, rocks like the mermaids and Peter Pan. Like, we do need to work, but it doesn't need to be this, like, out of lack. Where we're, like, scared if we get off the hamster wheel, that the whole house is going to fall down.
B
Totally. And I feel like there's probably a way we can. Well, I want to hear your perspective on this, but a way we can embrace the feminine while we are working. And, like, how can estheticians sort of rest in their work? Like, you're working hard, but still, you know, kind of in that neutral energy. You're not panicked and, like, you can enjoy the work day.
A
Yeah. I would say for me, when I was in my corporate job and, like, the whole day was, like, crazy, I would start my morning off by myself. I would wake up early. I would wake up at, like, 5:30, and I would meditate. And honestly, like, that's what got me through 2022. And, like, getting told that I was calm was setting myself up for that day. And I did it every single day. And, like, if I didn't do it, like, I was a little monster. Like, I. I was super, like, anxious and edgy, and, like, I. You could just tell. And people, like, close to, like, my sister, she would know. She'd be like, oh, you didn't. You didn't meditate today. But I would say having that time, like, maybe get to the. Your office, your. Your room a little early. And I love frequency music. I think that that is, like, I would probably be bumping that, like, in a treatment session. It's just very, like, angelic. And it also. There's so much science behind it too, where it really helps people and settle their nervous systems, and there's different frequencies for different things. I personally like five, two, eight a lot. But yeah, I would go on Spotify, make a, like, really relaxing playlist, and just find those ways that you can kind of inject some feminine practices. And maybe also, like, as you're, like, closing the session, maybe doing it a little bit more meditatively and kind of experimenting with that, where you're having the client, like, take some deep breaths and maybe starting out that way as well and kind of like bookending the sessions to really, like, seal the practice. Because when I take time for myself and I'll do, like, lymphatic work on my face, like, I like, that is energy work. Like, you're working on, you're moving energy. And a lot of times I notice when I do it, like, I'm yawning, which is a way that we purge and we move energy. And I'm like, this is such an energy practice. So I think that estheticians are energy workers, and they just. They don't have, like, the certification that says, I'm an energy worker, but, like, they are, I think, feminine. Just being a female and working with your hands like that, like, that's energy work to me.
B
Absolutely. So I know you talk about the Cruella Deville on your Instagram and, you know, the. The person who can be a little bit of a control freak. Can you talk a little bit about that?
A
Yeah, I used to be one. Yeah. I like, also is such, like, a Disney kid, if you can't tell. Because I feel like so many of my analogies on my Instagram and Tick Tock are Disney related.
B
But you have Disney princess energy, like, pop star energy.
A
Oh, my God, I love that. I also love that we went to school with Disney princesses because literally Ariel was in my class. But I would say, like, the Cruella de Vil is just like, those moments and I still get in them, like, where you can just feel yourself dip. Like, you're being pulled into the lack and you're like, oh, my gosh, like, if this thing doesn't happen for me right now, like, like I'm gonna lose it, or feeling like the, like the grip, you just want to, like, grab on to something. And whether it's like, you know, you're dating and you're like, oh, like, I want this person so bad, or it's like, maybe a client, like, you're trying to like, oh, I really want to work with them. And when we're in that energy, it is so repelling. And it's like, we've all done it, like, we're in dating where, like, we really, really like someone and we, like, want it so bad that it, like, it's just energetically so repelling to the person. And so when I feel myself getting into that, Cruella, and even, like, travel, it's like when you're trying. You're trying to make a flight and you're like, oh, my gosh, if I don't make this flight and you start freaking out like that, like, traveling is the ultimate. Like, check me. Like, I feel like I've, you know, do so much work on myself and then I, like, will go travel and I'm like, oh, okay. Like, we still have some things.
B
So many life situations like that, right? Like, yeah, we gotta be prepared for it. Whether it's like, going into a busy Starbucks or a workout class or the doctor's office, it, you know, there's all these different energies around us in public spaces.
A
Yeah, absolutely. And I, I think it's like when we start getting into that, like, if this doesn't happen, like, and you can feel so attached to it, that's where it's like, let go of the steering wheel. And I always say, like, get in your uber black energy where you're, like, in the back seat, you're relaxed. You're like, you're like, you're so sad, like, as the kids say, and you're just, like, relaxed. You're not thinking about what time am I, like, when is this thing gonna happen for me? You're not worried about the timeline. You're just, like, in full trust. And that's a good place to be because you're so present. And when we're present, that's really when all the magical things unfold.
B
You talk about you can't mess it up. What does that mean?
A
Yeah, so that was something for me that was so profound when I really learned that and, like, embodied it, I feel like. Because it's like you can hear something and you're like, okay, yeah, sure. But until you really believe it with, like, every cell in your body, but you cannot mess up, what is for you is really a tenet that I. I live by because I'm such a believer that everything is so aligned. And when we are not an energetic match for something, and there's still lessons there, there's still, still some wisdom to be extracted. Things are not going to line up for us. And then it's like, okay, I need to sit with that. But if something is meant for you and you are destined to have that thing, there's no way that you can mess it up. And, and like, an example of that could be, you know, like, I feel like a lot of times with women and dating, they will send a text and then they're like, they don't hear back. And then they're like, oh my God, I messed it up. I shouldn't have said this. And it's like, if someone's for you, like, there's nothing you can say that's going to make them run if they're running or something you say pushes somebody else away. Like maybe they were supposed to be. Be pushed away. Because when you are being authentically you, your person is going to be so, so attracted to that and love that about you. And so you cannot mess it up. Like, there's nothing you can say that is going to. And the same goes for, like, friends and, you know, when you kind of step into a new, a new passion or, you know, posting on your business account and you can kind of see like, certain friends like Peter off and they kind of disappear and, and I just fully trust that, like those friends that are meant for me, like, they. And me being authentic and following my passion, like, they're going to be right there. And sometimes. And it's so hard for the mind to accept like, that maybe friends that you've had for, you know, several years are like, have fallen away. But it's really energetic alignment. And when you're stepping into your passion, when, you know, let's say there's some woman that's like, in corporate and she's so passionate about, you know, aesthetics and she wants to start her own business and she steps into that and then like, all these people kind of disappear from her life. It's like, well, she's chosen herself and she's authentically choosing her passion. And so that's putting. And it's not like a hierarchical thing where it's like, oh, she's above them, but it's like she's choosing herself and now she's vibrating at a higher frequency. And those people that maybe, maybe it's activating for them to like, see her go, pursue her passion, but they're not an energetic match. And so they're just in a lower frequency. And it's like they just can't. It's like you can't meet. This episode is brought to you by State Farm. Checking off the boxes on your to do list is a great feeling. Yeah, I think that is a common experience for estheticians. You know, you are finally doing something sometimes that you're so excited about, you're so passionate about. And there will definitely be people that just don't match that energy. Like maybe people you hoped would come see you for a treatment or shop from you, or, you know, you just want like some sort of approval or encouragement and sometimes you just, you don't get it when you start a new business. So I think that is, you know, helpful to know that that's okay. And I'm sure maybe you've experienced that too. Erica. Yeah, what? Have you had experiences with people maybe feeling like, you know, oh, this is just different than what we expected from you or not the most supportive?
A
Yeah, I think there's definitely friends that I've had for like several years, like, you know, from high school and that have kind of just like disappeared all together where it happens, you know, it happens. And I think that the ego, the mind is like, wait, but that's like my friend. And like, why. Especially when you're first kind of starting out. And um, and I think too, it's like, you know, our mind logs everything and it. So it's like, well, I supported that person or I did this or I did that, you know, and it's, it's quite literally just the energetics of it. And in this season, like they're just not a match. And it doesn't have to be something dramatic or heavy or, or anything like that. It's, it's more so just like, well, I choose me and I'm gonna continue to choose me and like trusting that those people in my life, like, they will appear. And that was something for me when I moved here because, like, I didn't really have friends. Like, there's a couple of you know, Chapman girls that live here, but I didn't have, like, a crew by any means when I moved out here. And. And I think for a while I was like, am I just too weird or, like, what's going on? You know, and it's. It's like, you know, they talk about that so much, and like, when you are stepping into something and it's like you don't have, like, the physical evidence yet, and you. You have to believe it. And you have to believe, like, I'll find my tribe, I'll find my people, like, I'll find my clients, like, all of that. And so it was really cool because I ended up meeting so many of my friends at this random event that I went to last summer, and it just. And I met my new mentor, Amanda Merritt, there. I met, like, three of my really good friends here. They all, like. It was like this meeting of the minds where, like, all these people came to this event. I ended up meeting a hay house authority that I did a writer's retreat with earlier this year. So it was just like, the coolest thing. And it was such a reminder that doors open, like, instantly. Like, we don't have to. Like, there's time doesn't exist. It's just like, once my energy was behind it and I was, like, believing, like, yeah, the people are out there. For me, like, it was like making it rain people, you know?
B
Yeah. Supporters. Sometimes you have to go through that little isolation season or loneliness season, I think, to find your confidence and strength as. As cheesy as it sounds.
A
But no, it's. No, it's so true. It's like the initiation, and I think that.
B
So true.
A
It just sets such a strong foundation for the business, for whatever venture it is, because, yeah, you have to really get rooted down when you're by yourself. You have, like, no evidence that, like, that thing that you're pursuing is going to work out. Your belief gets so freaking strong.
B
Yes. You literally have to believe in yourself. When nobody is clapping or. Or saying, like, this is the right choice. Good job. Like, sometimes you have to be that person for yourself. But what is so cool and proof of, you know, your journey, Erica, is you make that bold decision, and then on the other side, like, you do find supporters, there is a net to catch you. Absolutely. So wrapping up this has been amazing. Can you talk to the girl who, you know, maybe just isn't in her. Her best energy and she wants to be. Maybe it's, you know, she's thinking about starting a business, but she doesn't have the confidence, or she wants to connect more with her clients, but she's just not. Do you have anything you want to leave her with?
A
Yeah. I would say that connecting with yourself is the best place to start, because when we're able to really get quiet, that's when all the stories come up. And I think that's something that a lot of people. It kind of deters them from meditating because they're like, oh, I don't want to. Like. Like, I can't. A lot of people say, like, I can't meditate because, like, their mind goes all different directions. But that's the work, and, like, that's part of it. And being able to sit and be like, okay, what stories are coming up for me? And there may be a story around, you know, like, I can't connect with my clients or. Or a limiting belief. And in order to become aware of it, you have to allow yourself the space, and you can do that. Meditating sometimes, you know, the stories start flying in, or journaling is another practice that I absolutely love. It's really subconscious purging, you know, when you're just, like, writing out onto the page, but starting with those. Those stories and getting them out on paper, getting them out of the system because they're just swirling around. And when we can out them, then we're able to really transmute and shift our energy so much. And I created a little mini course, and it's 22 days of activating your It Girl. And I. I called it the It Girl Summer Forever. Because I feel like there's just such a magic, like, ease in summer where, you know, the days are longer and we just are a little bit more flowy. And so I created this course, and it really digs into the limiting beliefs, identifying the stories. And it's also very doable because when I was a corporate girly, I did not have a lot of time. And so this is like 10 minutes a day for 22 days. And there's a couple energy activations that are a bit longer, but for the most part, it's like around 10 to 12 minutes per day. And I really created that for the person that was, like, me, that was kind of shaky with my, like, energy and just felt really disconnected from myself. So I created that. Just, it's. You know, I wanted to make it really affordable and approachable for people, because I know when you're first starting out, you're kind of like, where do I go? So that was something that I launched, actually, earlier this month. That I feel like could be helpful if someone is interested in kind of going deeper than just journaling.
B
That's so exciting. That's so cool. Guys, please go work with Erica. I would be so picky with anybody. I would, you know, refer for this kind of, like, intimate practice and coaching. But I trust Erica wholeheartedly and I think you're just gonna help and free so many people with what you do. Erica, I'm so proud of you. And, yeah, I'm just so excited to continue to see where you go and, yeah, all the people you touch along the way. So, guys, please check out Erica. I'm gonna link her program below her Instagram and. And definitely check out Sparkle Baby, her podcast. It is the best way to start your morning. Obviously, Erica's such a soothing voice, but she has activations on there. I love the 10 minute one you do, Erica. That would be such an easy one to put on before a facial or a treatment to really get grounded and centered. But thank you so much for coming on.
A
Thank you so much.
