Hi, is Caroline here? And Liz, you're with me.
B
Yeah, Hi, Caroline. I'm here too.
A
And the reason we're here, Liz, is it's a bit of a thank you, but it's also a bit of a reminder, isn't it? For all our amazing listeners. We wanted just to sort of reiterate and remind you that everything we bring you on the Trial uk, the Trial usa, the Trial Australia is going to keep coming, we're committed to that. And in fact, Liz, you and I have got quite a big case.
B
Yeah, we've got a big one coming up that we're doing together in November. Then obviously you're doing the Madeleine McCarthy can stalker accused with Claire at the moment, which is a really fascinating case that hopefully everyone's keeping up with. You know, since the launch of the US trial and the Australia trial, the whole Trial brand really has gone from strength to strength. You've really kind of harnessed the skills of all our male reporters, you know, not just over the uk, but like across the globe, really. Yeah.
A
I mean, Trial Australia has now become a bit of a phenomenon with Wayne at the helm there, which is brilliant. And we're going to keep an eye on any big cases coming up and there's certainly two in the new year that are going to be really, really influential and significant. And of course, we've just brought you the Trial and the Sentencing of Diddy with our USA team. So, yeah, we're all really committed to that free model of covering trials across, not just the country now, but across the globe, which we think is really important. And last March, Liz, you and I launched the Trial plus with that three part series into the Countess of Chester off the back of the Thirlwall Inquir. And that again as part of the Crime desk, has become another phenomenon. And part of this message is to say thank you to everyone who has subscribed because that allows us to do such incredible journalism.
B
The reason we wanted to launch that is to give our subscribers something a little extra every week. You know, what we're trying to do with trialplus is kind of give everyone more of an insight, I suppose, into legal issues that affect the courts, the judiciary. We obviously went into Grendon Prison and did a couple of fantastic episodes on the prison system. So it gets. Allows us to kind of expand away from, you know, a running trial. And obviously we've covered some also some really fascinating cases that didn't make it to trial on trial. Plus, I'm thinking about the Bloody Sunday one you did recently. With Glenn, that was a trial, I suppose, but it wasn't a jury led trial that we're used to doing a slightly different format. I did quite a bit a miniseries on Sycamore Gap Trial, which was fascinating. And you know, I've been doing quite a lot of sentencing of unusual cases that have made it onto Trial plus as well. But obviously, you know, that kind of journalism, you know, it costs money and, you know, we need to pay for it, you know, so that's really why we ask subscribers to kind of dig into their pockets if they want to hear more that then that's on the usual free feed.
A
Yeah, exactly. And I think one of the things we're really proud of is the fact that we're pretty agile. We will just change the plan at the last minute if we need to based on whatever's happening in the court system. And I think the other thing to mention that's become a really amazing staple of the Crime Desk is our long form series. So not just our series on what was happening at the Countess of Chester, but also George and Andy doing long form investigations into all sorts of incredible stories on their heist, scams and lies series. But as you said, the journalism that goes into that, the production that goes into that, it does cost money. And we're really, really trying to fund all that long form journalism on the Trial plus via the Crime Desk as much as we possibly can. So it is a massive thank you to everyone who has subscribed so far. We love your questions and your messages coming in. We always try to answer them, but we'd love more of you to just support, I suppose, support the journalism that we're trying to bring you.
B
Yeah, definitely, Caroline. So the other thing that we should mention that we're launching this week is the Crime Desk newsletter. So everyone that signs up will get a weekly newsletter every Wednesday. Lots more investigations that our top journalists are involved in. You know, insights into the courts, the Judiciary, Q&As with leading criminal experts and barristers, and obviously all the latest podcasts that everyone loves so much as well.
A
Yeah, and that's not, not just from the uk, that's actually across our teams in the USA and in Australia. And just to kick us off, here's Rachel from our team in the New York office with just what's coming up in this week's launch newsletter.
C
Hi, guys. Yeah, really exciting news. We have now launched the Crime Desk's new weekly newsletter. So this week's lead story is an exclusive interview with the lead investor, investigator and the lead prosecutor from the Delphi murders case. That's the shocking case of two teenage best friends, Libby German and Abby Williams, who were murdered after going for a walk in their small town of Delphi, Indiana. So Lieutenant Jerry Holman and prosecutor Nick McLelland sat down and spoke to me about how they caught the killer, Richard Allen, and also the one key piece of evidence that's still missing from the case now. So if you're into true crime, the newsletter is definitely one for you to sign up for.
A
So for that and everything else we've been talking about and everything else we're planning for you in the coming weeks and months, please do bob over and sign up to TheCrimeDesk.com to subscribe to all of that. And of course, you're going to get as well all of our usual Trial uk, Trial USA and Trial Australia as well on your normal feeds.
B
And thanks for me too.
