You ever come across one of those cold cases that you just can't shake? This is one for me. It's about a guy named Christopher Whiteley. Now to a death investigation in Texas, where authorities are at odds. Local sheriff's deputies say they found Christopher Whiteley's body in a wooded area. The highly unusual death has a lot of people understandably worried. Almost five years ago, someone or something killed Chris in one of the ugliest ways you can imagine.

He could have been surprised. We don't really know. It was a very gruesome scene where there's a lot of blood. His neck was ripped out, basically.

It was weird and it was scary. And then the local sheriff's office shocked pretty much everybody when they announced to the world that Chris had been mauled to death by a mountain lion. All these wildlife experts rushed in to find the killer cat, and they realized almost immediately that the local investigators had it all wrong. There was absolutely no way a mountain lion could have done any of this.
B
There's no sign of lions. The absence of claw marks. If I'd have seen one track, I'd have said, yeah, possibly, but there was just nothing there.
A
So imagine our surprise when the sheriff's office doubled down. The sheriff's office says it is choosing to stand by that initial report.
B
That's their opinion. I guess everybody's got one. And I believe it to be a large cat.
A
The lawmen closed the case. They left Chris gruesome death an open mystery. Don't want to get graphic, but, like, it's troubling. I can't imagine what did that. For all we know, Chris's killer is still out there and his family still wants answers. This is season four of the Unforgotten killsight.
