Symbiotica is for anyone who's doing all the right things but still doesn't feel like their best. Because true wellness starts at the cellular level with science backed high absorption supplements designed to travel with you and work with your body, Symbiotica helps you feel more like you.
C
We love Symbiotica because, well, one, it's incredibly convenient. It helps us stay on our regimen. If you you know what I'm talking about. Taking vitamins and supplements, it it's difficult to stay on track and it's only as good as you're consistent with it. Also, peace of mind. Symbiotica really cares about what they're putting in their ingredients. You can't say that about every supplement company out there. But with Symbiotica, they are very diligent about the ingredients they put in their supplements. No seed oils, no preservatives, no toxins or artificial additives. It's something you can taste and feel in every packet.
A
We are so on the go. We're constantly flying here, we're constantly flying there. And it's so easy to just throw the Symbiotica travel size packets into your purse, into your carry on wherever you're going. It's so easy to take. It takes 30 seconds a day to get all the nutrients that you need and it tastes delicious.
C
Their liposomal vitamin C is something that Natalie and I are taking every day. It like, makes us stay connected. We're both on it, we're both taking it, we both feel better from it. C
What's going on, everybody? Welcome back to another exciting episode of the Bio Files. I'm your host, Nick, joined by my gorgeous, lovey, lovely, fantastic, sexy, beautiful, gorgeous, amazing, funny, spectacular, kind, great wife, Natalie Joy, joined by the rest of the household. Susie. Evan returns.
A
She is just one.
C
There's just one Evan.
B
Just one Evan.
C
Well, she is becoming a member of the household.
A
Susie Evans is becoming a member of the household.
C
Is it Evan or Evans?
B
Evans. Evans. We fooled you.
C
Can I say Evans?
A
You said Evan.
C
No, you said one of them, singular.
B
He probably said Evan, but like in his brain added the S. And then we corrected him and then he was confused.
C
I'm a dumb, dumb guys.
A
You know, he's just got a couple. His elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor.
C
No. Sometimes I need a reboot. Like Austin shepherd did at the reunion. Who is our guest this episode. Excited to have him on. He's. Austin seems like a little troublemaker, you know?
A
You know, he seems like he has some beef. I feel like maybe he. He wasn't in the right mindset at the reunion. And I feel like we've got him on a good one on one.
C
Want to make him feel comfortable, cozy.
A
Seven on one.
C
Can we just have Austin sit In my chair, since we're not in LA at the moment.
A
Sure.
B
It looks cozy over there.
C
Yeah, no, we want him behind the vowel follow sign. Uh, well, we have a lot to get into, guys. I don't know if you realize this. We are closing in on our 1000th episode. Which is. Which is unfortunate because I have a hard time with my TH's. I have a hard time saying 1000-1000-1000-1000. Anyways, I literally have a speech class. Literally.
A
Y' all have bullied him into a speech class.
E
Whoa.
B
No way.
C
Speech coach. I'm working on my articulations.
A
The haters have bullied him into his marble mouth. Fixing his marble mouth. Wow.
C
I just. Listen, you always got to fine tune your skill set.
A
It's like, it was constructive criticism, but.
C
It'S something I've always wanted to work on. And I think I could. I could be. I could work on some of my weaknesses, I think. I think, you know, a little vulnerability goes a long way. Anyways, you guys bullied me.
D
There we go.
F
Have you guys ever seen that tweet that's like, sometimes the haters are right. This is a win for the haters.
D
Yeah.
A
Yeah, this is a win for the haters. And honestly, they're going to hate us even more because then what are they going to have to like, Right?
C
What's going to happen when I'm perfect?
A
Literally.
C
Anyways, you know, we've been doing this show for. Since 2019. We are approaching that episode number 1000. 1000 episodes. And we. And we got some big things coming up. We're going to be upgrading studios. That's going to be fun. We obviously want to have an exciting celebration for our thousandth episode now. Kind of like, we don't know when we're going to celebrate. It might be on number 1000. It might be a little bit after. Because we want. We want to make sure that episode is special. And we're bouncing around and we're really busy. Maybe we celebrate on our 106th episode. I don't know. A thousandth and six thousandths and tenths. I know sometimes your birthday's on a Monday, and it's just like, why would you have a party on a Monday?
A
Exactly. You celebrate it on a Saturday. So maybe our thousandth episode falls on a Tuesday. Well, it's reality. We don't know what's going on.
C
We don't know. But we would love.
A
We're going to celebrate.
C
We would love to brainstorm ideas with you guys about who would be Some exciting guests to celebrate number 1000.
A
So who do y' all want to see for our thousandth episode?
C
Like, who would be fun?
A
Who would be fun?
E
I say Andy Cohen.
A
Wow. Andy Cohen would be fun.
F
Rocking. I say Jen Shaw from prison.
A
Oh, yeah. Oh, that would be in her shackles in her jumpsuit with Elizabeth. Maybe Elizabeth Holmes makes a cameo.
F
Yeah. Ghislaine. Not allowed.
C
How are we going to get some of these. These guests?
B
Do you think we're putting it out there right now?
E
Yeah, putting it out there now. Willing it into existence.
B
Yeah.
F
I mean, if Travis Kelce can get a whole ass wife from shooting a Charlotte on a podcast.
B
Yeah.
A
So true.
B
We're shooting our shot.
A
We can get a guest.
D
Yeah, yeah.
C
Just for. Just for that celebration.
A
Just for the thousandth episode, Nick gets divorces me and marries someone else.
C
I will. Our thousandth.
A
And he has.
E
And he.
A
And he no longer has a marble mouth.
C
So he's like, here's my goal. Whenever we celebrate our thousand thousandth episode, I'm gonna be able to say 1000th episode.
E
That's gonna be your goal that you go in with?
C
Yeah. We're not celebrating it until I can say the word.
E
Fine. That's fair. That's fair. So you'll know when we celebrate is. Is not because of the guest. It's because it's when Nick is ready to say it.
F
His articulation weeks have improved that.
A
It is our thousands. We're. Nick can finally speak again.
C
Give me some more names, guys.
D
Who. Who?
C
And if you're listening, feel free to say I'm out loud in your car or DM us comment or comment below.
A
Yeah, yeah.
E
Katy Perry from space.
A
Katy Perry. Interesting.
F
In space.
C
What?
E
In space?
C
In space.
E
I don't want to go to that, though. I don't know, Nick. Let's figure out, like, who we could get through. Like, your connections. Like, six degrees of my connections.
C
I'm a very connected man.
A
He's been around for a while.
E
Yeah, you've been on the Bachelor. You've been on Dancing with the Stuff Stars. You've been on special.
C
Should we the Kevin Bacon it?
F
Yeah, Kevin Bacon it.
E
Yes, let's Kevin Bacon it. Okay, so who do we. Who do we have?
A
Wait, do.
F
Kevin Bacon.
E
Kevin Bacon.
A
So what are you doing, Leia? You're just, like, plugging this into.
E
Yeah, I'm gonna plug it into our friend AI. Six degrees of separation from Nick B. To Kevin Bacon.
B
Is this a thing that you can ask, like, how you're connected to somebody through chatgpt I guess so.
E
Okay. Are you ready? Nick Biels starred on the Bachelor and later appeared on Dancing with the stars. In 2017, on Dancing with the Stars, Nick competed against Simone Biles. Simone Biles was the subject of Simone Versus Herself, a docu series produced by Facebook Watch, which also featured Ali Raisman. Ali Raisman appears in the documentary at the Heart of gold inside the USA Gymnastics scandal in 2019. That documentary was produced by HBO, which also produced the following starring Kevin bacon.
C
Is that 17 degrees?
A
Wow, that's.
E
That's five.
G
Sounds like an easy get, right?
E
Yeah, yeah. Simone Biles, Ali Raisman, Kevin Bacon, hbo.
A
I mean, we have to base hbo, hbo.
C
We've worked with literally everyone.
G
I don't even know what Facebook Watch is.
C
If.
D
If.
C
If Dancing with the Stars in HBO are. You gotta. Can. Can you ask AI to eliminate Dancing with the Stars is an obvious.
A
Yeah. Cause it's just like. And also, who's competed on Dancing with the Stars is everyone.
B
It'd be nice if they go through your. Your email and your followers.
E
Well, here we go. Nick Viall appeared on the Vile Files podcast.
C
Yes, I did.
E
Many celebrity guests.
G
Many times.
E
One of his notable guests was Olivia Wilde.
C
Nope. What? What?
E
When did that happen?
F
Thank God for chatgpt. What would we do without it?
E
All right, we're doing a different one. Lana Del Rey.
C
Why did chatgpt think I had Olivia Wilde? Should I. Should we DM Olivia Wild and be like, the Internet says you've already appeared on, so you might as well show. Would you like to 1000th episode guest?
E
We DM Olivia, and we're like, we'd love to have you back on. We had so much fun with you before.
A
And then she's like, oh, I guess I already did it, so might as well do it again.
C
Just gaslight Olivia. Olivia Wilde into thinking she's already.
E
I've thought about doing that before where instead of sending, like, a pitch to a guest, I just send a confirmation letter with the date, time, and the calendar. The calendar invite.
B
Yeah.
F
You're going to get an assistant fired, Leah.
A
Yeah.
E
Okay, here's a plausible six degrees of separation from Nick Viall to Lana Del Rey. Nick Viall appeared on the Bachelor and has been on podcasts with reality TV personalities. Chris Harrison hosted the Bachelor, and he appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen DeGeneres.
C
I appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
B
So we're down a degree.
E
Well, don't worry, because Ellen interviewed Gwen Stefani, who collaborated with Lana Del Rey.
C
Okay, all right.
E
Let's do another one.
A
I remember when I first.
C
I don't know if Ellen's going to be up for that intro.
F
Yeah.
A
I remember when I first met Nick and he WORE the Ellen DeGeneres underwear, and I was like, ew. Oh, this guy's cool. He's been around the block.
C
Did you.
A
Yeah, because I remember seeing, like, Ellen, like, only gave them to, like, the people who, like, the hot guys who came on our show.
C
Oh.
A
And so then I was like, no. I was like, oh, period. He must have, like, I bought those off of, like, Ellen DeGeneres dot com.
C
Could you imagine that? I was watching Ellen and I saw Ellen give, like, Zac Efron underwear, and then I went to her merch store to buy underwear, and I only wore it when girls came over.
D
Wow.
C
Wait, really? That's maybe the most pathetic thing anyone could ever do.
A
Well, speaking of sliding in dms, did you see that Spotify has added a place where you can, like, DM people.
F
Oh, yes, I have.
C
No, yeah, they have already added. Or they're adding it.
F
I think they're. They're introducing in app direct messages, and I think they're. They're rolling it out this week in select markets for people.
C
You're listening to this podcast on. On Spotify. Go ahead and DM your friends. Tell them about us. Also, like, you know, throw out your suggestions.
E
Well, I have another suggestion.
C
Okay.
E
Taylor Swift.
C
Oh, yes. I'm sure she's free and available.
E
Taylor Swift and her new fiance.
C
Yeah, she. She. She had such a good time on her first podcast appearance. She's itching to do another one, I'm sure. How am I? Well, I've. I. Taylor Swift gave me a ride home once.
B
What?
C
Oh, what?
E
So we don't need six degrees of separation.
C
We have a mutual friend. That friend asked me to go to a wedding. Crashing a wedding. Taylor was there. Jared and I went. She was very nice. And basically her, you know, we. Car. Like, it wasn't just me.
A
It was a group of people. She wasn't behind the wheel.
C
She was not behind her wheel. Her security was. And they did not drop us off at our house. It was like they dropped us off at our car, I think, somewhere.
D
I don't know.
C
We left the party with Taylor. Anyways, I'm not trying to. You know, it's about Taylor and Travis, right?
B
No, please tell us more. I'm like, what was she like?
C
She's very nice, actually. The most endearing moment because the end of the wedding and she. She spent the whole Night dancing and entertaining this very sweet, like, I don't know, 12 year old girl. She was like so nice. And then one of Taylor's songs came on and the wedding, everyone was done and Taylor was like a little sad. No one was dancing and it was the most humanizing thing. I thought it was so endearing and like I just noticed it. She was, I mean she was just a normal person in the, in the best possible way. Jared was talking to her about their Rhode island connections. It was, it was a very cool moment.
G
I love that.
B
That is very endearing. I feel like the podcast New Heights as well. I was like, oh, she's like, she's just like us. She felt very normal.
C
She's like, she's just a normie, like trapped in a billionaire body with like a genius brain.
B
Yeah, truly genius.
A
Like where is. Where does Travis Kelsey's dad like give all these like insights into their.
B
I was wondering where that came from and was that allowed? Is he in trouble now?
G
Right?
A
Travis Kelsey's dad, Ed Kelsey reveals that Travis proposed to Taylor nearly two weeks ago. He also said something else, right?
B
Oh yeah, he mentioned, I think he said that they were going to dinner and then he was like, oh, let's go out for a, let's go out back for a drink. I think that's what happened. Or that's what he said happened. And then that's when he proposed according.
A
To the dad anyways. But yeah, how, I mean like, is his dad just like getting on his Instagram stories and like writing like details.
G
Or book to News 5 Cleveland?
F
Oh, that's a very dad thing to do.
E
Dad reviews.
G
Travis and Taylor's proposal took place two.
C
Weeks ago at Shout out to News 5 Cleveland.
G
Ed shared how he told he encouraged Travis to plan a modest roadside proposal, but claimed that Travis wanted a grand special event.
A
Roadside.
B
Roadside.
G
He told the news channel he was going to put her off till this week to, you know, make some grand thing to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place and make it a special event. When you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you respectfully.
C
Add side of the road.
A
I mean, I'm just like, why is Taylor Swift on the side of a highway getting proposed to?
C
That's a man who loves his son. He was like, you know what? You can, as long as you mean it, you can do no wrong.
G
He shared that he's known of Travis's plan to propose for Months. And he even expected his son to ask the question during the last football season.
A
10 carats. You know, our second year anniversary is coming up. 10 carrots. I won't mind.
C
I have to learn how to say 1000 first.
A
Y' all know my birthday is Sunday. And Nick, which is in how many days from today when this airs? 2, 3? I have Nick this morning goes just, like, out of curiosity. So you haven't, like, updated your, like, wish list and, like, oh, no. I was like, oh, two days beforehand.
C
I've been busy. I've been busy doing other stuff for your birthday and that, like, also, how does this work, guys? Can I. Can I just please. Natalie and I, we've been making a lot of meaningful investments in our lives. We've. We've had some. We've had an exciting year of big moments and big purchases. You guys all know the lake house is about to be done. Not cheap. And Natalie, a few weeks ago, graciously was like, you know what? My birthday is coming up, like, a month later.
A
She was like, not really coming up.
C
Let's not. She's like, let's, like, we're not gonna do gifts.
A
You know, I didn't say about yours. I just said, you don't have to get me a gift.
C
Cause I. Now he's like, you don't have to get me a gift. And I was like, this is a trap.
A
Trick question, right?
B
This is officially a test.
D
This is. You better pass.
C
She's set. She's either setting me up for success or failure.
G
Listen, she's just being gracious because she offered that you didn't have to get her a gift. But, like, if you don't.
C
But I cannot take her up on said offer.
A
I'm expecting the gift to be insane. I'm expecting my reaction to be like, but, babe, I told you you didn't.
C
Have to get me anything.
D
Right?
G
That's literally my.
C
My heart. My heart wants to be like, oh, my God, what a cool wife. I don't. Honestly. Great. Say less. No gifts. I'm good. Because I don't need a gift for my birthday ever. I honestly, if I never got a gift for the rest of my life, wouldn't care. It's not my love language, Natalie.
A
Noted. But I don't operate that way.
C
No, no. Anyway, you need to go ahead and update that wish list.
A
Yeah.
C
Because the Celine bag that I haven't gotten you, that's on that list. No longer available.
D
Oh, yeah.
A
Oh, I'll look back at my wish list.
F
Oh, my God. Wait, you guys, did you hear about the Katy OC drama?
B
No.
F
There's more.
D
There's more.
A
What happened?
F
So basically, she.
C
She just went on at a blogger's house.
F
Yeah, she. She hooked up with a blogger. No, I'm just kidding.
C
Katie, she is a blogger.
G
She did the Scooby Doo. They pulled off the mask.
A
I am the blogger.
D
I'm the vlogger. Yeah.
F
Katie, Janela is actually reality Von Tees. No, basically she did an interview and she was saying that she wasn't invited to the OC cast trip to Amsterdam, but it was because production was trying to protect her.
A
I feel like that's how you film a show.
D
Yeah.
F
Also, don't you get paid more when you go on the cast trip?
A
Yeah, yeah.
C
Aren't cast trips like four episodes of a season?
F
Yeah, it's the main event this year.
G
They did too.
A
So.
D
Yeah.
C
Do we believe her?
F
So basically she was like, in my opinion, they did me a favor.
B
Right?
A
Yeah.
D
Yeah.
C
That is not the same as Bravo.
A
Bravo was like, babe, you shouldn't go. They're out for you. Like, protect your mental health. Stay home with your kids. That was not said.
C
This is more like, hey, he hasn't called yet. And the girlies rally around and be like, I just.
A
He's obsessed with you.
D
He's obsessed with you. He's like, just.
A
He literally wants to marry you. He's planning his proposal on the roadside.
B
Not the roadside.
C
I will be pissed if Katie's gone. I mean, you know, there's been a lot of obviously discussion and discourse around Katie. And for that reason, we want Katie. I mean, like, Katie's been carrying, like, if Katie's gone, it's going to give very Monica Garcia, you know, and whether you like Katie or don't like Katie or believe Katie or don't believe Katie, she has given us a lot of like great content and great discussion points. And it's just like, I mean, what are we doing here when we like, you can't just bring on news housewives just because like a bunch of OG housewives are kind of just over fighting with each other and don't want to like give it their all. So they bring someone in new just basically to like beat up on and spit out. Like, what's. That's not fun. Are they. You know, like, I would. That would be very not cool of Bravo.
G
No, I agree. I'm like, I feel like every housewife has to go through their hazing, unfortunately, and their rough seasons, but then after a while, everybody has to like, leave Them alone. But I've been seeing that a lot where it's like, these OG cast, we'll bring in a new person, and then it's like they bully them off the show, essentially. And it's like, okay, because you guys didn't have storylines. Like, if you guys are actually friends and become a cast, next season could be great. Who knows? You know, because people want to watch that. You want to watch people fall apart, but you also want to watch them come back together.
A
Right.
B
The redemption. I also feel like she wants to be there, is what it sounds like. And she's like, oh, I wanted to make amends. Whether that's true or not, she wanted to be a part of it, so feels like she's getting pushed out.
G
Yeah, it's like, stronger woman than me because I don't know how many times I could apologize and be like, I. I just want to go and piss people off.
A
Right.
B
That's when you turn into Tamara.
F
Yeah.
A
I really want to see Katie. Not with, like, the blogger drama. Like, I want to see what else there is there behind. Because this feels a little like pulling teeth. So I want to see, like, I don't know, like, different drama with Katie.
C
Who is Kate? Who's Katie? Is she cool with anyone?
F
I guess Jen, a little bit, but maybe not anymore, because I might have leaked that story.
A
And then when I just saw, like, Gretchen talking about her basically being like, I was wrong. I should have.
D
You know what?
A
They're close anymore.
G
Tamra just recently came out in an interview practically, like, defending Katie and saying that, like, the girl, like, that Shannon went too hard on her and just needs to, like, leave it alone. Like, it was actually kind of surprising.
C
See, that's why I like Tamra, because I think Tamara is. She gets the bigger picture.
F
Well, I think with Tamra, with that, it's kind of like the. The enemy of my enemy is my friend with Gretchen.
G
And Shannon.
F
And Shannon. Yeah.
B
Yeah.
G
She said it was like, a cast pile on, and it's backfiring because the fans love Katie, so. And these are her direct words.
D
Yeah.
F
But also, girl, you were part of that pylon.
E
Wait, guys, breaking news. It looks like Ace did a podcast, and he's throwing Nick under the bus.
C
Really? You guys have to see his Nick, not me.
D
Nick.
E
His Nick, not you.
C
All right, let's see the clip.
E
He's thrown you under the bus.
C
I'm sure he's done that too, but let's.
D
Let's see the clip.
E
Okay, hold on one second.
D
Do you feel like Olandia and Nick's relationship is real.
A
The silence is real.
C
That's wild.
F
Yeah.
C
Well, why does he just say something?
D
Or is this your answer? Huh?
H
I'm going to assume that that's your answer.
D
Is that tough for you because Alandria is someone that you consider to be a close friend?
H
Yeah. Yeah, it really is tough for me because again, we just.
C
So does that. Is he saying he's not close friends with Nick anymore?
H
Time together at the club and we all kicking and shit like that. So I have a lot of respect. Or Alanja. But again, from the last conversation that I've had with, you know, Nick, it was a matter of. It's not a romantic spark. They just. They just. You know what I'm saying? They find each other attractive.
D
Nick and Elandria's relationship, you've expressed your. In silence, you've expressed your opinions on that. Do you think that the other relationships that have come from Love island are real?
H
Yeah, Taylor and Clark, I know that's. That's for sure real.
D
And the other ones, not so much. Or.
C
You know what? This reminds. This reminds me of, like, being 18 when, like, you know, you would have a girlfriend and your buddy would have a girlfriend, but you wanted to be the most in love couple. It's giving kind of petty and jealous. I mean, also, what isn't. Isn't there, like, a less jealous way of answering that question? Do we know if he ever filmed this before or after the reunion?
E
I don't know when this was recorded.
C
I mean, we. We've all had our doubts on their relationship, but, like, he's supposed to be your boy and it's just like.
E
Yeah. I mean, I also think that, like, we can't, like, they have to deal with that enough from the public.
C
Like, and also, like, aren't they giving each other a chance to, like, maybe grow into a relationship? I don't fault them for trying to see if there's something there.
B
Yeah.
C
We also have Louis chiming in, responding to Andy Cohen. I think this is wild. I. First of all, I think this was really an embarrassing look on Louis part.
E
No, I agree.
D
You want me to.
E
I'm going to pull that one up too, just so that everyone can see what we're talking about.
D
Well, you tell Netflix that we're the.
C
Number one streaming show. Shut up.
E
Nobody tells Andy Cohen to just shut up.
C
First of all, he's from, like, the UK and he has a British accent, but it looks so awkward that it almost sounded like a fake British accent in a In a weird way.
B
Yeah, right.
E
Well, maybe he's trying to do an American accent.
C
I don't know. But, like, yeah, you don't tell any coin to shut up. Also, what is, like, Annie's right. And for us, your girl embarrassed herself by lying the way she did that answer. These two are just, like, they are very into. They're very into themselves. It is crazy that they feel like that. Like, somehow that's a state secret and he, Huda, shouldn't be answering that question. Or somehow that, like, Andy is out of pocket for asking this question. And the way Huda responded by accusing Andy of, like, pressuring her to answer this question is a. Is crazy.
E
She did also allude to the fact that. That they cut a lot of apparently, like, the questions out. Like, how many times she was pressured into asking.
C
Pressured like you. You're only getting asked repeatedly because you refuse to ask a basic, obvious question. You're literally doing red carpets with this man. If you don't want people to know about your relationship, stay inside. They're literally doing lives constantly with each other. And you're not going to speak on this relationship. I mean, like, get over yourself.
E
It's like, I also believe they knew when this reunion was going to be dropping. And she must have known that, like, the Netflix, like, the Perfect Match finale was going to air before this. I didn't like how she responded to Alandria being upset about her not standing up for her when it came to the racism.
C
So that was wild. I mean, like, the. When. Yeah, when Alandria talked about that. I mean, like, Huda clearly knows how to weaponize her audience, so she clearly is aware of the influence and power, how aggressive her audience is, and the fact that, like, Alandria talked about some of these disgusting, racist things that she's had to deal with in these messages she's gotten. And the fact that, like, Huda goes, basically, what about me? And tried to, like, literally said, like, she's had to deal with those types of comments, too. It's like, that not the same.
E
But then also, even then, you know how it feels. Why wouldn't you stand up for your friend? No, she specifically asked you to.
C
No, I mean, listen, like, I think Hoda, the more you're. I've. You. I want. I've tried to defend her in the past. You know, I don't know. She's. These two are. I don't know.
E
Yeah, I was definitely. I felt for Alandria a lot in that moment because I was just like, it's Just like, if you're really her friend, you're gonna stand up against racism. Like, yeah, that was wild.
C
Susie, did you, did you watch Badger in Paradise this week?
D
I did.
B
I watched it. Yeah. How about you guys?
C
Yeah, I mean, we watched it every week. I mean, like, it wasn't a ton going on there. I wanted to remind people Dr. Laura Berman made an appearance this week. And Justin, your mom is a. Is she a psychotherapist?
D
She's a psychologist.
C
Psychologist. Dr. Laura Berman, those of you don't know, was introduced on Bachelor in Paradise paradise as a psychotherapist, I believe. Well, she was brought on as a love expert therapist. And I'm just here to remind you that I wrote a wonderful book about dating and relationships called don't text your ex happy birthday. And oh, look at here, it says Dr. Laura Berman right here.
A
Let me read what she wrote. Dr. Laura Berman says Nick has hard and well earned wisdom to share from his own journey from heartbreak to healing to discovering real and lasting love. In his usual compassionate and humorous voice, he offers great advice, like an older brother who is way cooler and wiser than you, period. Doctor.
B
Wow.
C
I also love the part on the episode where she was talking to Andrew and Alex and was basically like, you guys don't look like you want to have, like, you don't have any chemistry. And then she basically described, chemistry is like the desire to. When you meet someone that you immediately want to have sex with one another. And the way that Andrew and Alex look was like, I, we don't want to have sex at all.
A
We're abstinent.
C
There is.
B
But I feel like Andrew and Alex are like a different brand. You know what I mean? Like, they're a very specific. You said they're friends.
A
Have we ever seen them maybe give more than like a peck?
B
I don't know. Well, he was trying to. He was going tongue first.
G
They were, during the camp thing, they were all like straddling each other and doing. Yeah, I just feel like they're like, quirky cute. Like, I don't think they're like sexy hot. Like, like, right, like, you know what I mean? I feel like they're like, oh, my God, like quirky fun we have. We're goofy together. And then like, maybe laugh while we have sex.
B
Yeah. Oh, I like that.
A
You know?
B
Yeah.
C
Have you ever laughed while you had sex?
G
Absolutely. I've made so many jokes and whatnot and I think it's so, it's so fun.
B
I've gotten in trouble for like cracking jokes in the bedroom.
G
Like, why not?
B
This is not the time.
G
That's why I said that's how I.
B
Know he's my partner.
D
Right.
G
Like you have fun with me.
B
This should be like, this is a.
C
Bit during sex from a cat.
B
I've never gotten a shh. But I've definitely gotten, definitely gotten in trouble.
F
Sometimes committing to the bed is the sexiest thing you can do.
A
I love a bit.
C
And it carries over, even in the sack.
D
Yes, yes, exactly.
F
And yes, exactly.
D
That's.
E
Do you know who would make you laugh during sex?
C
Probably Austin, right?
E
Probably Austin Shepherd.
C
Yeah. And I think he's here. So up next, Austin Shepherd. We're going to talk to him.
A

C
Austin, welcome to the show, buddy.
D
Thank you for having me.
C
We're excited to have you, man. Fresh off the reunion. I guess. Let's just start there.
A
Like what are you a little bit more zoned in here than you were there?
D
Okay. It was such a long day and so imagine, imagine being at something for 15 hours that you aren't really like that pressed to be at and Then you have to listen to everybody talk about their stuff and you're just like, man, I. I just don't know if I really care all too much to like, pay attention this whole entire time. So it was like, yeah, my. Like, I was just so. I was out of it. I was out of it by the end of the day. Like, we got there so early, we didn't start filming till like way later on. And yeah, I was out of it. I was zoned the out 100. Like, I was. I was not there. I was so checked out.
A
It felt like Jeremiah, like needed you in that moment where race was coming after him and Ariana was like, well, Austin, you know him the best. So you're like, I got nothing.
D
I know. I felt so bad because that. That's my boy. And I was like, man, afterwards I was like, dude, I'm sorry, I wasn't. I wasn't sharp there. And he's like, you're good, man.
C
He's like, jeremiah seems like a really chill.
D
Oh yeah, great guy.
C
And like, I can speak from experience. Those reunions. I mean, you know what. What ended up being a two hour show is like a 12 hour filming event.
D
Literally. I think ours was like 15 or 16 hours.
C
Wow, 16 hours. Well, yeah, that makes sense. Cause obviously your cast was massive and there was like, you know, 30 some odd episodes, a lot to get to. It's.
A
And now, you know, you have all your peers coming out and being like, well, they edit out my conversation with this.
D
And they edited out this.
C
Oh yeah, maybe that's a great place to start. The veal files. According to Shelley nickname.
A
I think she said veil.
B
Oh, yeah.
C
I think she said veal show.
B
Yeah.
C
But Vanna really threw us under the bus. I want you to know, Austin, we don't edit anything out unless our guests require. If they, if they say something, they're just like, hey, man, that might ruin my life. We're not here to ruin anyone's day. We will certainly take a note. But like, Vanna's like, no, they edit out all the good stuff. As if, like Vanna implied that she spent an hour singing Shelly's praises. And we edited that all out and only kept in like her talking shit, which definitely did not happen. Happen.
D
Yeah, no, I think, you know, in the reunion, I think a lot of people are very, very PR'd up. That's not me. It's very hard for me to be PR and I just can't do that that well.
C
Yeah.
D
And yeah, once people started getting called out for what they were saying on podcast, it was like, oh, well, I didn't say that. Or, you know, that wasn't completely. It's like, man, just say, just, just say yeah. Just say like, yeah, you know, like, you know what I cited. I'm sorry, we're here now, whatever. But like, you know, it's on recording.
A
Yeah, it's like, to Nick's point, like, this isn't a 45 minute episode where we're trying to fit in. Like the juiciest stuff. Like, as our listeners know, we put out two hour long episodes. And like, we, like, we don't. We're not Vanna, we're not cutting you short if you didn't say what you needed to say. That's on you, girl. But like, her being like, I had to clear that up on my live, that they cut out me saying like, nope, you just didn't say it here.
C
That's what I've always enjoyed about you, Austin. I was a fan of you from the beginning. I've always appreciated authentic characters. You know, there's certain people, you can tell who edit themselves. There's a lot of people who, you know, talk like they're authentic and like, claim to be constantly. And then there's people who just are because, like, you can tell they sometimes step in it or they sometimes say, you know, it doesn't come out quite right, you know, so to speak. And you've always come across to me as someone who is like, can't help but be themselves. And you've 100%, you've gotten criticism, you face criticism, you've owned, you know, the criticism you've had. You're an imperfect person like the rest of us. So I've always appreciated that about you. So. And I find those people on TV the most interesting characters. So thanks for being interesting.
D
Well, thank you for being interested. Yeah, no, like, at the end of the day, you know, because Love island does their best to cast people that are like, just normal people. And then even before, like, of course I knew what Love island was like, you know, you know of it, but you don't really. You're so disconnected from everything while on the actual show, so you don't understand how big of a lens you're actually under. And then so like, when you come out, it's like, holy shit. Like, you don't really realize that, like, okay, actually everything I do now, like, people are, are going to be looking at. And yeah, as a very unserious person that just kind of let fly, like, it was like oh, man. Anything I say, it's like, damned if I do, damned if I don't have a feeling. Yeah.
A
Have there been moments where you have had to be like, not what I meant, sorry.
D
Yeah, definitely. But, like, I feel like in my head, I'm like, oh, man, that's not what I meant. But it's like, either way, even if you come back to it and say, like, that's not what I meant, people are going to be like, oh, well, this, that, this, that. So it's like. It's like you just like, wow, whatever, you know, I've got. If it's. If it's too crazy, then, like, you know, then say something. But if it's like, whatever, it's like, I'm just not gonna touch that.
A
Which I think leads into the Jeremiah Taylor, Ace, Nick, that whole, like, drama, where it was very much like Ace trying to say that Jeremiah had said all of these things about the money or about the show or whatever. And I. That's one of my biggest pet peeves is when you are with your friends and you are joking about something, and then they try to take that, where you're like, oh, my God, I would kill you. And then they're like, you made me feel so uncomfortable. You said, kill me, and, like, I'm scared to be around you. And so I totally understood Jeremiah being like, like, don't villainize that. Did you feel like the guys, like, took a lot of what he said and tried to make it bad?
D
I think they knew he was joking. It was just trying to justify a reason behind it of, like, why they moved the way they did. Because, like. Like, it was. It was so obviously a joke. And like, when we were talking about the followers stuff, like, when he was like. We were all sit. Like. I remember we had two conversations about this. Once we all came in, and then once when all the casa people came in, it was just like, oh, how did you guys get discovered? Like, did you have a following before this? And it was like, oh, no, I only had this amount. I only had this amount. Like, oh, man, that's crazy. And, like, that was like, end of conversation. So it was like, there was no, like, oh, man. Like, I can't wait to get this amount of, like, followers. I can't wait for this. This. This opportunity. Like, there was never that talk. So that's why I was super confused because, like, it was like, obviously, like, we were just, like, bullshitting on, like, how we got there. Because there's times, like, you. You can't. You don't want. You don't want to talk about Love island all the time. Like, you're already on the show. Like, it's like sometimes you just want to with your friends and just talk about whatever and like, you know, like, just go off on different tangents. But yeah, it was so surprising that, like, a lot of that got like, I guess, villainized, weaponized. But like, like, it is what it is. Like, it, it just. I don't think. I don't think they actually thought that way.
C
I've really enjoyed watching Ace most of the season. I think, you know, he. He made a lot of great points often. But one thing he always talked about, whether it was in. In the villa or post Villa, he always, like, talks about how he wants everyone to stand on business. Right? Like, kind of like self identifying himself is like the real one, but like speaking to that and then calling Jeremiah out for followers, it's just like he wanted like, like the rest of the world to ignore. But of all the people coming into the villa, this guy, like, had close to a million followers already, was already an influencer, like, kind of knew. Knew how to monetize, which is all great. I mean, like, pop off king, you know?
D
Yeah.
C
But it's just like, why are you calling this guy out for something you were literally already doing and making it seem like anyone else who's like, you know, like, you all went on a TV show, of course you're excited to, like, get followers and like, of course you're excited to be famous like that. Why else would you come on and risk the entire world criticizing everything about everything you say if not for some of the benefits that come with it?
D
100. Yeah, 100. That's why, like, you know, and some people are, you know, don't hate the player, hate the game. You know what I mean? Like, that's like, that's a good testament right there. Like, you know, you can't. You can't hate on one person. Like, it's. It's part of the game. Like, you guys all realize, like, yes, it's a dating show, you're here to find love, but some people are better at playing the game than others. And yeah, that's just how it goes. And you can't hate on someone for playing the game better than you.
A
Speaking of Ace, there was a moment where the two of you were kind of going back and forth, and it shot to a backstage moment where I think it was Jaden who was like, yeah, they have real beef.
D
I don't. What did you make of that, I. I think. I think. I think it's definitely blown out of proportion a lot more than it actually is. I don't think Ace and I really have beef. I mean, we. We talked after the reunion. Even on the stand, your business challenge. We talked, like, 10 minutes afterwards, and it was like. Like water under the bridge. I think. I think we're more like. I think guys are more just like, yeah, whatever, you know, move on. Like, it is what it is, you know?
C
And, like, you're just not each other's ride or dies.
D
Yeah, 100%. Like, we're. We're. We're. Like, how. I've explained. Like, we're all family. You have family members you don't like, and family members you do like, but at the end of the day, like, you're still family, and you're still connected. Like, I always will wish him nothing but the best and nothing but success from, like, here on out. I just. You know, we just won't hang out out. You know what I mean?
C
Speaking of Jaden, obviously, that was a topic that came up in a moment where you kind of blanked a little bit. Now that you're here, the pressure's off. Do you want to speak to, like, just, you know, post villa you guys left. I thought you guys. You know what I think? What?
A
You never put her on that yacht.
B
Yeah, you need to get a yacht for her.
C
But, like, you guys seem like. I think America was like, yeah, these guys work. Because, like, like you, she kind of seems, like, unserious in the where. It's just like, you know what, man? Life's too short. You guys seem like a really great couple, but could you, you know, kind of give some insight or. Behind baseball, like, just how things went down post you guys leaving the villa and. Yeah, just kind of clear the air if. If. If you need to.
D
Um, one sec. Sorry.
B
Gotta take a sip of water for this.
D
I need some water for this Getting serious.
B
Take a minute to think about it.
D
Um, so Jaden. Jaden's an awesome girl. I do agree. Her and I are definitely, like, our. Our wavelengths are similar. It's just. It is. At the end of the day, we are in the villa together for no more than, like, two weeks. Going out of the villa, like, 100%. I should have. I should have communicated with her. That is 100% on me. I should have been transparent. Should have communicated with her. But there was. I still wanted to get to know her, like, once we left the villa and then we were. She was talking about this House party thing where I was coming. Where I was going there to come break up with her or some shit, which was crazy. Vanna brought that out of note. Vanna was saying that. I don't know why Van. I mean, I know I. Vanna was saying that, but Vanna was trying to just cause drama.
A
Just trying to stir the pot.
D
Yeah. I never was going there to do that. I was just going to the party, just to go to the party. And then Jaden came up to me. She was, like, drinking a little bit. And. Yeah. And she was just saying some stuff that it just turned me off. It just turned me off from wanting to really get to know her. And she was very much like, in her feels in that moment. And honestly, I am so bad at talking about relationship things like that. I'm uncomfortable like, that. I don't want to continue. Like, in the past, I was 100% a ghoster. I am working on it. I'm trying to work on it, but it's like, man, sometimes I just don't want to have that conversation. Like, it's like, I just don't want to have the conversation with you. And. And, you know, if you. I respect her, so it's like, I should have given her the respect to have that conversation. But I also think she blew it way or out of. Because she's had the chance multiple times. Like, we've been doing events together. We've seen each other. She has my number. Like, she can call me anytime. None of that energy that she had, like, in the reunion, I never saw any of that previously. So if it was actually bugging you as much as it was like, like, you. Like, if it was bugging me that much, I would have called you. I would have reached out and I'd have been like, hey, this is bothering me. But that's what the reunion's for. So, like, you know, I was gonna say get it out. Yeah, get it out of your system then. And. But yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, I should have been more transparent with her. I feel bad, but. But, yeah, it's just. It was hard to come out of that show, especially when we're on opposite sides of the country. It's just. It's hard for me to be serious right now about someone. Just plain and simple. Like, I. I went into the show very much wanting a relationship and then kind of going through it. Like, going through. And, like, actually, like, date, like, like being vulnerable and dating. I was like, man, like, I. I might need, like, a little bit time to myself and still work on some things.
C
Is it a combination of working on things like, like, not ghosting people?
D
Oh, yeah, yeah. No, like. And I'm getting better at that. It's just. It's not even. Yeah, yeah. Okay.
C
How do you work on not ghosting someone?
D
Just being more in communication. You know, find your integrity being. Be in integrity and be like, you know, I. I need to be more communicative.
A
Jaden mentioned, I guess, her saying, like, hey, if you want to other people, like, just tell me so I'm not embarrassed. And then I guess made it seem like that's not what you did.
D
Yeah, no, that wasn't. That. Like, that was. That was a crazy statement by her. That definitely wasn't, like, what she said, like, oh, you can go other people. And like, that. That, like, wasn't, like, ever.
C
How do you make that call anyways? Hey, by the way, so I do want to other people. Yeah. Like, I thought you should know.
B
I support it. No, I support that. I'm like, I feel like that's a fair thing if she's. I don't know how she said it, but I'm like, if. If she's. He's saying, like, hey, I'm cool with whatever, but, like, just tell me. I feel like you could have just said that.
D
Yeah, no. 100 and. But, like, if she did. If she did say that, like, I. Like, it would have been like, you know, okay. Like, okay, but like, we weren't even at, like, a stage of where we were, like, you know, dating. Yes. We were a Love island couple, and we left the show off as a couple, but. But we still left the show very much like, oh, yeah, we're still just getting to know each other.
B
Was it, like, beating around the bush around the conversation instead of her being as direct as, like, oh, if you want to have sex with other people. Maybe she, like, said a few things that she was alluding to that. Yeah. But maybe it wasn't.
D
I mean, it was. It was just like, like, we're dating around. We just got off. It wasn't even, like, Because I. I feel like we weren't even serious enough to have, like, a conversation like that. You know what I mean? Like, there wasn't. Yeah, like, it just. We were. There wasn't. We weren't serious enough to be having a conversation of, like, oh, like, this is what you can do. These are my expectations. Because, like, it was just, like, we were still just getting to know each other, you know? That's why I was so off guard. When she.
C
Was it a weird transition? Because obviously on the show, right, Like, I mean, the show starts with literally them saying, all right, you're gonna couple up with someone, right? And then by. By the show definition, you're are coupled up, whatever that means. And it's weird because, like, I'm curious, like, from your perception, is that kind of what you're talking about, where it's just like, yeah, in the villa, there's these rules of you're coupled up. You're. You're. You're. You're exclusive. You're not exclusive. But when you're not. When you leave the villa, it's like you're in the real world. Is like, what does. What does coupled up mean in the real world? So to speak.
D
100 and especially if we, like, if we defined what we were and had set our expectations of, like, leaving and, like, you know, started talking about plans of what we were gonna do and how we were gonna. How we were gonna do stuff, like how. How we were gonna make the location work and everything. And, like, when we were gonna see each other. Then 100 I get having that conversation and, like, you know, being a couple, like, literally we were just, like, at the stage of, like, where you're, like, going on your, like, first couple dates with someone, just getting to know them. Like, because there was so much about Jaden that she really wasn't comfortable with talking about on camera and on national tv, which completely respect that. Understand that. So there was still a whole side of her that, like, I didn't, like, even, like, really know to an extent. Like. Yeah. I mean, like, she. She was very. She used to be, like, an investigator. So it's like she couldn't talk about her work or anything. Like, she was very mysterious in that way. So it was like. So there was a still. Like, I still didn't know, like, 50% of you. So it's like we're still getting to know each other. And there was that night at that house party, and it was just weird. It was just weird. We just had a weird conversation, and it just, like, really turned me off. And in the moment, I should have been like, you know what? This just isn't. This just isn't what I see for us. Like, I don't think there's something here for us, and let's just move on. I didn't say. But what did you do? I was just like, you know what? We'll talk about this another time. You seem. You seem like we just need to talk about this another time. Yeah.
A
And then you never talked about this another time?
D
Yeah. No, then I avoided it. Yeah.
E
Yeah, right.
A
Okay.
D
That part's little bit.
C
I mean, like, I guess if we're, if we're, if we are keeping it real when you guys leave the villa, you guys, I mean, I don't know what you're. What you thought or what. What you thought, like, going on Love island would bring you, but it gives you a lot of attention and you're. I'm assuming your DMs are open. Is there a part of you that, like, doesn't want to have a girlfriend because you want to? You know? Like, I think a lot of men, you know, and I don't know what you've heard or what you want to say or not say about some of the unfollowing or the rumors circulating about some of the couples that left the villa, but it's a lot of pressure to, you know, leave the villa famous and then have all these women, you know, or men, depending on who you are, like, just falling all over you, sliding your DMs, flirting with you, trying to tempt you. And is there a part of you that's like, I don't want a girlfriend right now? Because, like, I. I don't know, I just want to. I don't want to worry about that. And I. I don't want to do something to hurt someone in the long run. And I just want to, like, have fun and meet women and. And go to parties and like, not worry about, you know, with someone's emotions or cheating on them or et cetera, et cetera.
D
Yeah, a hundred percent. You know, there's. There's that and like, like, yes, you know, you wanna. I've. I've said this because it is so different. Even as an attractive guy, even, like, without the, like, even before this, any of us, any of the guys that were on there, even as an attractive guy, you are still approaching. You are still approaching women. You're still the approacher beforehand. If you're out and you're out and about, like, you're the. You. You go up to girls and, like, you know, you're trying to pick them up. Even as an attractive guy, you know, they're, there's, there's like the odd ones out where some will, like, you know, approach you, but usually you're on the approach. And then so afterwards coming out of that, and then like, you are literally just being approached and you, like, don't have to, like, really, like, put in a crazy amount of work. Like, that's. That's something that's like, crazy to, like, deal with. And I think every single guy that is on the show is kind of like, holy shit. Like, that's. It is insane. That being said, I am 26. I do want a family. I do. Like, I want kids, I want, I want all that. Like, so I think it just takes a really special person for me to settle down, like, at this moment. Like, you know, kind of like, yes, enjoy it. But like, also. And I feel like when you're not specifically looking to get in a relationship, that's when something special finds you. And see, I'm kind of just living right now.
A
Okay, how much have you added onto your body count since being out of Trilo?
D
No, not as much as people would think. Not as much as people would say.
C
Was that a real number or were you just like answering this questionnaire and just around and just throwing out whatever it was?
D
I said anywhere from like 90 to 110. It was like, yeah, it was like around there. And I think they. They put an exact number on it.
C
They're like, we're gonna go with the high one. We're rounding up for sure.
D
Yeah, that. Yeah. But I think, dude, I think. I think Charlie and I were the only two that were like, fully honest on that whole question there. I will say that we had an.
C
Speaking of Charlie, we had an opportunity to interview him when he got off the show and we were huge fans of him. He seemed. I've never met him in person yet. Seems like a great looking guy, has a beautiful British accent. What is with. It was like the women just on Love island do not seem to be interested in that guy. Do you have any idea why that is?
D
I see. I don't know. Like, I like. Are you talking about the girls on the show?
C
Yeah, it's just like.
D
Yeah.
C
Even like at the reunion Hannah was.
A
At, you know, she was like, yeah.
C
I think there's a. It's a no for me. And it was like, what I seems like really respectable. Like, I. He. Again, I haven't met him in person, but the energy he gave is like, kind and awful. I'm just like trying to figure out why he's not a hot commodity with the women of the cast.
D
I'm. I don't share on. The women of the cast by. They know. I know. I mean, I know they all find him attractive. I just don't think they find him. They're attractive. Their personal attractive. You know what I mean? But. But yeah, the American girls do love Charlie. The accent gets him far.
C
So Charlie's doing. We can verify Charlie's doing just fine.
D
Charlie's doing fine. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
A

A
What was it like? I don't know if you were zoned in or zoned out at this moment, but when they were replaying Huda's montage of Hurricane Huda and she was, was belly laughing, what was kind of your reaction to that?
D
You know, a lot of it comes to like, you know, you, you weren't really laughing when we were like in there, you know, like, especially like the pancake thing, like it was funny. Like you're like, oh my God, that's so funny and I can't believe how funny. Well, like in there you didn't necessarily think it was that funny and you didn't think it like wasn't a big deal. But yeah, you know, I think kind of to what Andy Cohen said, like, you know, how much growing can you do in, in a month and a half? And I mean, I know for me, I, I wasn't the most popular person to come off the show. Huda was one of the more popular persons and I've had a full schedule so I've not had time for therapy. So I definitely don't know how you have had time for therapy in the last month and a half and have grown, done all this growing. But if she has more power to her, I mean, I, I, at the end of the day, I do like Huda, I do like her. She just, you know, she's, she bit crazy, you know, but who doesn't love, you know, who doesn't love a bit crazy, you know, I, I, you know.
C
Like, like you, you know what I loved about Huda watching this is she seems to keep it real and I don't think anyone can take that away from her is that at least on Love island, she kept it 100. I don't think she kept it very 100 at the reunion when asked about her relationship and was clearly lying and then making up all these excuses. If it, like, Netflix definitely isn't stopping her from spe her reunion.
A
What did you think of that?
C
I. We all know that Louie, the guy she is now dating, is on another dating reality TV show, which is over, which is done filming, but it hasn't aired yet. Yeah, but what did you think of all that? Did you want more accountability in general from Huda and did you find it as ridiculous as I think everyone did, that she, you know, acted as if, like, she was above it all? It's. And then she posted something later on. It's just like, like, she felt pressured from Ariana and Andy. They asked several times just like, she didn't want to speak on her relationship. It's like, you guys, like, this show did make you all famous. Like, I hope you guys remember that. So to speak. As if. And now. But now she's like, too good to, like, speak about her relationship on the show. I don't know. What did you think about all that?
D
You know, I thought the Netflix comment was for sure, you know, a little strange. For sure. But I mean, at the end of the day, if she doesn't want to speak on it, she doesn't have to. But to the point that you are making. We were on a dating show. People are interested in your love life. And that guy, I don't know who he is, but he was on a dating show too, so it's like people are interested in his love life as well. So it's like you can't go into something expecting not to be asked about it.
A
I feel like it was just like the lie of it all. It's like. And clearly Netflix is kind of poking fun and being like, don't ask. Like, we don't know.
D
Yeah, that was funny.
C
Current employer Netflix we can. We can verify. They will not stop you from speaking.
D
Yeah.
C
About your personal life.
D
Yeah, I. I don't know. I didn't pay it too much mind. Definitely didn't pay it too much mind. But it's just like, you know, I. She was pretty PR'd up during the whole. Whole thing, I think. I mean, I think that's a pretty fair consensus. And it's not like a. A shade thing. She just. She was very careful with how she was answering everything. You know what I mean? Yeah. And. Yeah. So, I mean, that doesn't make for too much fun. I think we were all expecting a little more.
C
Okay.
A
You recently came out and said some things weren't shown from like what Amaya has, has said. Is there anything that you can kind of clear up about that story statement?
D
Well, just like, you know, I think during that stand on business challenge, there was, yes, definitely could have changed my tone, but they didn't show things leading up to thing. Like, every time that Zach or I would talk, she'd be like, you, you little ass. And then so it's like eventually, like, holy, stop coming at me, like, let me talk. And yes, like, that's like the only thing. But like, you know, it's water under the bridge. Like, I, I talked to Amaya the other day. Like, we're all cool now. But yeah, like there, I mean, there was just. There was a lot that, that wasn't shown in that stand on business. It was, it was, it was so funny being there. Oh, my gosh. But yeah, there, there was a lot. Not sure.
A
Are you close with Brian at all?
D
I'm not that close with Brian. Like, we're friends. Not super. Like, I, I don't talk to him that often. I haven't talked to him him. Yeah. So I don't really know what's going on there.
A
Did you see the clip of them doing some interview altogether? And I think it landed on Brian of like, who was the most attractive family member that came in and he went like, on and on and on about Huda's sister, like, really sitting right next to him.
D
Really? I think I did see something about like, Amaya, like some rumor was like, Amaya got rubbed the wrong way for.
C
It's like, bro, just plead the fifth.
A
Yeah, you could have been like Nick's mom.
C
Not to beat a dead horse about the standing on business, but, you know, when it happened, I gave you and a lot of the other men because it felt like, at least with what we saw that like you guys were piling on Amaya where it was like, here's this girl crying and you guys were like, and this. And you did this and I don't know why you do that. Like, can you like, shed some light as, like, did it. Did it play out a different way or was. Were you caught up in the moment or, like, why did it feel like the guys, like, took that opportunity to just really let Amaya know all your little ticks and icks about her?
D
Okay, so I think the reason why I took so long to tell Amaya because I saw how things went with Ace. And then I saw the fallout of that afterwards. Now everybody has their own experiences. Everybody goes about things differently. So maybe, you know, it was would have happened differently if I would have said like, hey, you know what? Like, I'm just not feeling this and like, you know, this, that. But I was so, like, it just looked like Ace was going through so much drama after he told Amaya like, hey, this is what I'm not comfortable with and stuff. So then that's why I didn't say anything. And then I feel like, okay, there was the deflection at the reunion, you know, onto a Maya, definitely. You know, I think a lot of it was the side. They didn't show a lot of the side comments because anytime like Ace, me or Zach were talking, it was, it was just like, you're a fucking pussy. Like, it just kept, it just kept going and it just kept going, like egging on, egging on, egging on. So I think that's why like after one thing went out on Amaya, everyone was like, oh man. Like, I can also say this because if she's going to get, if she's going to be mad, she'll just be mad at all of us. I think like, that's kind of how like it went because it was like, I like, because I truly do, I, I, I love Amaya, I really do. Romantically. We do not gel. We do not gel. But I think she is so. She's one of the funniest fucking people I've ever met. Oh my God. Every single day she was making me laugh my ass myself. But she does. If every single, if every guy is saying that you're moving too fast, I don't think it's every single, every, everyone else. And I do think, and I think she just has a lot of love in her and she saw, you know, Shelly and a, she saw Nick and Sierra when, you know, Sierra was in the thing and she saw like how strong of a bond they had and like the time, you know, she saw the bond they had but was kind of forgetting the time it took to get there and wanted, they just wanted it right away. She, she wanted like latch on right away and she wanted you guys like, and it's like, not everybody can do that. I like, I mean, I know I can't do that and, but yeah, so then, I mean, yes, definitely it was not, it was not a good look of us going at a Maya and we shouldn't have gone at her. But there was also a lot not shown tone of. And it Made us look a lot worse than. Probably if the full thing was shown, it'd be like, oh, like they're still dicks. But, like, I. Like, I see how you got to that point. Like, before it was like, okay, you just didn't see how we got to that point, if that makes sense.
C
Yeah, yeah. When you got sent home, Alandria was the only one who had your back, which I thought was just a really charming moment. And it. You know, it's. It's those moments where you maybe there's a bond or a friendship revealed that we didn't really get to see as much. And it. So it clearly. I mean, the fact that Alandria had your back, there was clearly a bond and a friendship. Can you speak to that friendship that you guys developed in the villa? And is that something you've been able to maintain outside of the villa now that Nick and Alandria are a thing? And I'm sure focusing on their relationship.
D
Yeah. So Alandria was the first person in the villa that I opened up to because I went in Jeremiah, Ace, Nick. All of them have done acting, modeling, social media, that stuff before where they've been in front of a camera. Like, I watched my first episode and I haven't watched anything else because I was so, like, cringed out by myself. I was like, oh, my God. Like, I just looked like I was deer in headlights. And so I was having such a hard time connecting with those guys at first. And, like, just because, like, we just came from two different worlds. Like, I mean, I was working a blue collar job, and so it was just. It was so weird at first. And then so I talked to a Landier. Like, she just. She got, like. We just got each other to open up so easily. Like, she's just. She's such a great friend and she's super understanding and she gives great advice, too. But yeah, I mean, her and I had so many, like, conversations that I guess weren't shown of. Like, just, like, you know, always being there for each other, always checking in on each other, making sure each other's okay. Like, I mean, and she was. She was the one that she, like, told the guys. Like, she was like, austin's a good guy. You guys better like, make him feel at home. She was going to ride. She was riding for me when I wasn't even, like, around there. It was like, it just. It shows, like, just who she is. She's such an awesome, awesome, awesome woman. Yeah. So then when she stood behind me, it. It meant so much. Like, it Was it was super cool. One thing that people don't know, I did, like, because there was a few guys that were going to stand behind me. I wanted to go home so bad. I was so ready to go home. I wanted to leave so, so, so, so bad. And, yeah, just because all my friends kept leaving, I was just kind of done. And if Jaden wasn't going to be there, then it was like, only one of us were going to stay. So. So then if Jaden was going to leave then, or, like, I was going to, like, I wouldn't want to be there.
A
Yeah.
D
Like, without even having a connection, the one connection I finally did find left, and then it'd be like, okay, I wouldn't want to be here anyways.
C
Yeah.
D
So, yeah, before we were going, I was like, if it comes down to a vote, please none of you guys stand behind. Please, none of you. Yeah. So that's why people are like, oh, see, none of the guys stood behind Austin for this. That reason. None of them stood behind me because I asked them not to stand behind because Zach was fighting me on it tooth and nail. And I was like, please do not. And, like, I was thinking about the pasta bolognese. As soon as I figured out. As soon as I figured out that, like, okay, this is going to be down to a vote, I was like, oh, pasta bolognese at the hotel. God, I can't wait to sleep in. Like, oh, my gosh, I can't wait to get back, maybe smoke a little weed or something. And like, I got so excited for what was to come. I was like, oh, my God, thank God. And, yeah, so. But yeah, having stand behind me, though. Oh, a. Like, that. It felt. It felt so cool.
C
Yeah. Just, you know, and thanks for shedding that light and that and giving us that behind the scenes. But, yeah, it just. I think Alandra has been a fan favorite for. She's been a huge favorite of ours, America's. But, like, I. I just always love. Especially in reality tv. And I've said this as someone who's been on it before and talking about Love island, it's such a high school environment where it's just like, the bully is the house. It's the majority. It's. It's so scary to be an outsider, you know, it's so scary to, like, you know, see the majority go one way and to think differently, the majority and stand on your own. And I think that represented, like, Alandria's, like, braveness and who she is, and it was just a cool moment. To see, and I'm glad we got to see it. Even though you wanted to go home and smoke a little weed and eat some pasta.
D
Yeah, yeah.
C
Is there any light you could shed on the unfollowing of Iris and Pepe or, you know, TJ's been kind of trolling us with some.
D
Oh, my God.
C
Fingernails that look shockingly similar to Iris's?
D
Did you see the TJ's TikTok where he didn't, like, put any caption on it?
B
The wing?
C
Yeah, yeah, that was iconic. That was great. I was like, what's that audio? It's like, that was great.
D
Yeah, it was great.
C
But, yeah, I mean, and then, like, the next day, Brian and Amaya unfollow each other. There seems to be, like, a clear division with some of the cast.
D
I mean, what I think is I, I think we had the reunion too soon. I think, I don't, I don't think it makes sense to have a reunion basically a month after. I mean, because obviously it's been two weeks since the reunion's been filmed and everything has fallen to. So. You know what I mean?
A
But do you think they were waiting to film the reunion to then in their relationships or.
D
See, I don't know if it was planned like that. Okay. I think it happened like that, but I, I, I do, I think the reunion should be like three, four months down the line.
C
Do you know what happened in either of those relationships?
D
I have no idea what happened in either. I haven't talked to Brian or Amaya since that. My mom was. My mom's way too on this Shit, dude, my mom knows alcohol.
C
What does your mom think?
B
They always do.
D
My, my mom, my mom was asking me what happened. I'm like, I, you're telling me that this happened? I didn't even know it happened. And, um, but yeah, no, I'm not, not sure on the Brian and Maya thing. I haven't talked to either of them since it happened. I've talked to Iris a little bit. I'm not, I'm not really sure, you know, what's going down. I'll let her speak on that. But, yeah, I think, I think the reunion should have waited. I think they should have filmed it.
A
You know, are you Team Pepe or Team Iris currently?
D
It's like I, that, you know, if.
C
You had to pick.
A
If you had.
D
Yeah, if I had to pick, I would, I would be wearing a Team Irish shirt with Team Pepe on the pack.
C
Yeah, you're like the parents with like, Travis Low team.
D
Both of them. You know, I want the best for both of them. Yeah, yeah. But I. I do, you know. Yeah. I don't know what happened there.
C
Okay.
D
Yeah.
C
Do you feel like they'll be cool or do you feel like there's a little bit of hurt feelings at least for anyone?
D
I mean, I'm sure everything will, you know, end. I'll be all fine. I'm sure. You know, feelings are.
A
Iris seems obviously we talked to her and she was like very. Made it very clear that she's not a drama girl. She's like, I don't want to be in drama. I don't like talking about drama. Like, she's just like, that's just not me. So it seems like something that we're not gonna get like some big tell all from Iris. She's not gonna like drag this out. I feel like eventually her and Pepe will be cool because she just doesn't need the drama in her life. I very much feel like she's that kind of girl.
D
Yeah, yeah. No, I agree. She's definitely. She's definitely one of the least drama people, like ever. She's.
C
Which? Human. Human I really respect, but as a host of a show that has a lot. Yeah, A little bum. You know, it's like.
D
Yeah, yeah.
C
Um, so what's next for you, Austin? Like, you know, obviously a lot of people go on these shows. There's a whole career that, you know, they unveil, they're doing lives, they're doing deals. Is. I mean, and I. Listen, you're not going to hear from me as someone who's made an entire career off of going on reality tv, because I feel like a lot of times it feels like a loaded questions like, do you want to be famous? You know, like. But like, you also seem to be like a down to earth guy. What do you want to do with this, if anything at all? And what do you. What is next for you?
D
I really want to get in comedy. So I. A lot of my friends and I like growing up like in high school and stuff, I went to an all boys boarding school growing up. So it's like, you know, you're all boys. When they're all together with just other boys, they come up with really stupid things. But so we'd, we'd like fake write these like screenplays and stuff and like little skits and see how I'm gonna. I'm going to do with a couple of back home buddies, but I want to do just like little YouTube skits, stuff like that. Get into like some animation. Like, yeah, adult animation. Like, adult sitcom animation. Like Family Guy, Rick and Morty type stuff. But, yeah, I definitely want to go, like, comedy route. Maybe stand up. I just. I don't know, I do, like, storytelling stand up or something. I don't know.
A
But, yeah, that'd be cool.
B
I love that for you.
D
Yeah. Stay in the comedy sector, though, first, for sure. I'd. I'd love to make it in. In that world.
C
Who are some of your favorite comics?
D
Shane Gillis, Mark Norman, Ari Shafir.
C
We had Ariane.
D
Really? Yeah. I love. Arian's super funny. I really want to meet him. Kill Tony, of course. I mean, what he's built is fucking insane. Yeah. And then Cat Williams is pretty funny. I like him on podcast better than I like his stand up.
C
I know you're a big Jersey Shore fan. A couple. When. When I first met Natalie, she was a normie, and I brought her to the MTV Unscripted Awards, and I wasn't a big Jersey Shore fan, but we sat at the table with the entire cast of Jersey Shore, and I've never seen Nie freak out so much because she was like, oh, my God, I'm obsessed with these people. And like, me, I'm like, we have since become friends with JWoww. She came to our wedding. But, yeah, like, you're big fans. Have you got a chance to talk to any of them? I think so.
D
Yeah. I've talked to Angelina a little bit. DM Back and forth. I've talked to Paulie. I love Pauly D. I am a huge Pauly D fan. I've been a Pauly D fan forever. I think he's. He's iconic. He's iconic. He's the OG OG Reality TV guy. But, yeah, I'm trying to do something with him. We're trying to work it out, figure our schedules and see if, you know, we can line something up. But, yeah, yeah, I've talked to him. I'd love to talk to Mike, too. Mike seems like a really cool guy. Same with Vinnie. But, yeah, I'm a big Paulie fan. And, yeah, he hit me up after the show, and it was. I felt pretty cool.
C
Almost 20 years ago, when I lived in Milwaukee, before I did any of this, I was at a tanning sleep salon, and it was like the middle of winter, and I was about to, like, go on vacation, and if you're from Wisconsin, like, that was. If you went to Florida, you would go to the tanning salon, and Pauly D. Was in there because he was doing some DJ set and, like, all the women in the tanning slime were, like, freaking out. And I just remember being like, oh, that was. That was Pauly D. It was just a random thing. It was like 20 years ago.
D
Yeah. No, it's so funny, like, because even. Even, like, okay, so like, even going out, like, in the public and stuff, like, girls like, oh, my God, it's awesome. Then they're like, boyfriend or like, brother will be standing. Like, who the is that? You know what I mean? It's so funny because, like, it's like that. That definitely, like, I'm that guy, but I'm also that guy that's being holy shitted now. So it's kind of crazy. I'm both. Look at you.
A
Full circle.
C
Love island games. I don't know if you could tell us if you're on the next season. Season. If you're not. Is that something? Do you want to come back and do reality TV again? Are you like one and done and you want to focus maybe on a possible comedy career?
D
I. I mean, I. I would do like Survivor, like Wipeout or some shit.
A
I don't know about the range.
C
All right, well, Austin, really appreciate you taking the time, man. Where can people follow you or anything you want to plug before we let you go?
D
Yeah, instagram. Austin underscore. Shep3.3 tick tock. Scott Disick, stand 12. Scott Disick, stand 12. I want to meet you, Scott. God, please someone connect me with Scott Disick. I really want to meet him. And then YouTube. I just started at Chef TV3.
C

Austin shepherd appeared on Love Island USA. Love island contestants often attend reality TV after parties with other Bravo/ MTV stars. Larsa Pippen, who also has connections to multiple reality TV events, has attended parties with Love island cast members. Members. Larsa Pippen is close friends with the Kardashian family. Well, as we know, Larsa had a big falling out with the Kardashians, so this seems to be a little out of date. But maybe they've made amends and I just don't know about it. Scott Disick is part of the Kardashian family circle and regularly appears at events with Larsa. So, Larsa Pippen, there you go there.
D
She's your end.
B
That's your connect.
D
Isn't she Lebron or something? I don't know.
C
Larsa, She's a house. Housewife.
D
I thought she was a housewife. Isn't she doing other stuff now?
C
She is a housewife. She's also the ex wife of Scottie Pippen. Dated Michael Jordan's son.
D
That's what it was.
C
And was on Traders.
D
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
Shout out Austin. Appreciate you coming on, buddy. We wishing you the best of luck with everything you're doing going forward and we hopefully get a chance to meet you in person soon, bud.
D
Yeah, I hope so, man. Thanks for having me on. Appreciate you.

Date: August 28, 2025
Host: Nick Viall
Co-hosts: Natalie Joy, Susie Evans, plus the "Household"
Guest: Austin Shepard (Love Island USA)
This episode of The Viall Files dives deep into the aftermath of the latest Love Island USA reunion, celebrity relationship bombshells (Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement!), and big podcast milestone plans. Nick Viall and his panel—the familiar "Household" cast—reflect on pop culture headlines, their own podcast journey toward the 1000th episode, and then sit down for an unfiltered, funny, and at times vulnerable interview with Austin Shepard, fan-favorite from the most recent Love Island cast.
Real Housewives of Orange County Drama:
Love Island USA Reunion Pre-discussion:
[Starts ~34:43]
Austin addresses allegations (esp. from Vanna) that podcast interviews are edited for drama—Nick and the team push back, emphasizing they only cut at guest requests.
Austin appreciates being recognized as “unfiltered,” owning both criticisms and praise.
Austin says some in-villa conflicts (esp. during the “stand on business” challenge) were instigated or inflamed by off-camera side comments not shown.
Regarding group pile-on of Amaya: Defends her as funny, says her “too fast” approach with every guy was her wanting instant connection after seeing strong bonds on the show.
Reveals strong, genuine friendship with Alandria, who was the only one to stand up for him when he was eliminated. He describes the show as a “high school environment” with social risks for going against the majority.
This episode is a quintessential Viall Files blend: lively, irreverent, and refreshingly unfiltered. Nick and crew deliver relationship and pop culture commentary with their signature humor, and Austin Shepard's candid interview offers Love Island fans a behind-the-scenes look at what really goes down—proving again why reality TV, messy relationships, and authenticity keep audiences coming back.
For listeners who crave inside scoops, real talk about relationships, and plenty of laughs, Episode E991 delivers it all.
